i want to go back a tell young me who picked up nimona for the first time to not ignore the feelings they got when they saw how nimona could shapeshift, how nimona could be a girl one time and then a boy another, how nimona was just nimona and that was enough.
i want to show young me the movie and tell them, you’re not an anomaly or a threat or anything else, you’re not a monster for feeling like this.
i want to sit with my younger self on the couch and read them the comic and watch the movie with them, and tell them they’re going to end up just fine

one of the main things i love about the little mermaid movie is how they changed grimsby.
he starts off just like the original animated version, so uptight and very dedicated to keeping eric from going all over the place, but as the movie goes on, he's a little more playful, a little more understanding.
when he gives eric the little smile and says "I think we can spare one carriage" and turns a completely blind eye to eric and ariel leaving the castle?
when he distracts the queen because he sees eric and ariel hiding?
when he asks eric if they should call off the search, and gives him the encouragement to be with ariel?
when he's immediately suspicious of vanessa?
when he kicks the engagement ring away after it falls near him?
when he holds the queen back from chasing after eric when he goes to help ariel?
literally grimsby was one of my FAVORITE side characters in the movie, they did him so well, i love how he's obviously a surrogate father to eric, and how he comes to be so fond of ariel

Just realized that Ariel broke two spells on Prince Eric. Yes he was asking for her under Ursula’s spell and when he saw her he forgot all about Vanessa. BUT BUT BUT it was mermaid Ariel’s siren song that he fell in love with and was so captivated by. It was drawing him back out to the ocean and he couldn’t get the melody out of his head. But it took just two days with Ariel as a human with no song no voice to break that siren spell on him. It was much more powerful and it was basically a conscious choice. He stood on the beach looking out at the ocean and he chose love over the literal magic of the sea!

Me after watching Godzilla Minus One thinking about how I thought that the bomb safety switch in the plane was going to eject Koichi without him knowing and he was going to be forced to survive whether he wanted to or not when actually he made the choice to eject on his own and actively decided to live in the end
