i’m looking for a fic/series where wei wuxian and lan wangji are both actors that work on a project together that involves them being intimate. the catch is that wwx thought lwj hated him and so there’s tension there. there’s also a continuation of when they’re happily together where wwx finds a shrine/treasure room dedicated to himself when visiting lwj’s house. it’s one of the first fics i ever read and it’s so deeply buried that I can’t seem to find the bookmark for it and was hoping for help. thank you in advance and i wish you all well.

it was a MDZS/TGCF crossover: Xie Lian joined the juniors on their nighthunt and Jingyi spends most of the time suspicious of him. At one point they all thought Xie Lian died but Lan Zichen appeared and performed cpr on him and he was fine. At the end WWX recognized him and called him grand uncle and tells the kids Xie Lian’s a god (and when they ask ‘why didn’t you say anything?’, Xie Lian’s only response was ‘you didn’t ask’)

Hello this is a long shot but my history and bookmarks crashed on AO3 and there was a fanfic I was reading it was about LZ meeting WY as children one of the two save the other from dogs, LZ gave WY his drum rattle, in a Yilin alley, it was cold and the thin clothed WY got a coat from LZ the author described the coat or cape as embroidery and elegant, then when the uncle and brother came to him, he turn and WY left with the drum rattle but not the coat/cape, years later they are married have children WY pulls out drum rattles and then the old one (which he used as design for the other ones) and is there where they realized are them in the childhood encounter ... Meng Yao is a nurse, but like the head or charge nurse - he points out you can tell bc he's wearing a particular color of scrubs (yellow?). The plot had to do with people actually protecting him for once and his father trying to pin his own mal practice (or possibly Jin Zixun's) on Meng Yao. But Nie Huisang manages to save the day by "stumbling across" records that proved it was Jin Guangshan/Zixun at fault.

finally got around to watching Fatal Journey and honestly the most devastating part of it is not how it gives us adorable baby Nie brothers ( though that does hurt), nor how it makes Huaisang accidentally implicated in the music poisoning (though that hurts, too) - it’s how it deepens Huaisang’s character from merely a harmless pleasure-seeker to a genuinely good person.

the version of Huaisang we see in the show proper isn’t particularly interested in being moral! He’s not a BAD person, he doesn’t want to hurt anybody, but neither does he particularly care to be GOOD. he leaves that, like all the tough parts of life, to his da-ge to take care of. Surely Mingjue is righteous enough for both of them! Huaisang’s no good in a fight- surely he’d just get in the way! Huaisang’s tragedy, originally, is his descent from a lovable goofball, a harmless fop, a perpetual baby brother, into a hardened, ruthless, desperately lonely man hellbent on revenge no matter how many people he has to destroy on the way. And that’s a pretty good tragedy!

but with the material introduced in Fatal Journey, Huaisang appears to be a genuinely good person- a much better person than anyone ever gave him credit for. He sees something he believes is morally reprehensible being done by the people he loves and respects- especially his brother, who is regarded as a paragon of righteousness in their society- and he stands up and says ‘no.’ I don’t think ANYONE else does that, at least where we can see it. WWX’s whole DEAL is doing the right thing in the face of people who have waaay more power than him (Wens, Jins….), but he’s never put in this specific situation because the people he loves and respects aren’t the ones doing morally reprehensible things! The closest parallel we see is maybe LWJ fighting the Lan elders in defense of WWX, but that is much less a principled stance based on moral virtue and much more an act of tremendous personal love and sacrifice. He’s not doing it because it’s there right thing to do, he’s doing it because he loves WWX and doesn’t CARE whether that’s right or wrong anymore.

NHS is put in a fairly unique position where he is directly exposed to some of the basest hypocrisy of the cultivation world, and instead of saying ‘well, da-ge’s doing it so it must be okay, I guess it's not really that bad,” he says ‘No, this is unacceptable.’ He says ‘You’re better than this. WE are better than this. We HAVE to be better than this.’ He is not, ultimately, able to change anything about it, because he doesn’t have that kind of power, but he SAYS it, he makes it clear, directly to NMJ’s face, that he is disappointed in him, and ashamed of what he is doing, and he thinks it’s wrong.

and the fall from THAT, from someone who argues that exploiting the corpses of the dead is wrong EVEN if those people were criminals, into someone who would deliberately desecrate the body of a woman he KNOWS is innocent because it’s the best way he can think of to hurt the person he wants to hurt, a person for whom the ends justify any and all means, and who ignores or disregards the collateral damage of any other lives destroyed - that’s SO MUCH WORSE. That hurts SO much more.

u kno on the topic of interview answers/authors notes with mxtx, I tend to take it with a huge grain of salt. Considering how I keep hearing that she once said that wangxian were the only gay characters in mdzs, yet everyone I seem to come across agrees there was nothing heterosexual about LXC and his interactions with JGY. Like which is it.

well, right. I hold the perhaps controversial opinion that authors... can be kinda wrong about their own works. and I swear I don't mean it like that post about losing custody of your characters in court-- I actually think the wangxian/xiyao thing is a really good example of what I mean.

however you feel about xiyao as a ship or the two of them as characters, there is no denying that they are set up to parallel wangxian in a lot of really key narrative ways. just taking a few broad examples:

both are pairings of a Lan brother and someone who was born in a marginal social position but has entered a place of relative outward security and respect

this position of security and respect is rapidly dismantled due to a combination of WWX/JGY's own actions and snowballing rumors and anger based in part of social prejudice, ultimately driven by an individual (JGS and NHS) who wants to see them ruined

both Lans, in defiance of social expectation, try to trust that there is a reason their partner has made the choices they made and to understand where they are coming from (LWJ over a longer span, LXC in a very compressed period in the temple)

there is a divergence, as LWJ decides he will fight and die for WWX no matter what he's done, and LXC has a moment of doubt and stabs JGY

but then they converge again, as both are pulled into a violent final confrontation/climax and make the decision to die for/with their partner, only to be prevented

both are finally left with feelings of regret and a lack of resolution, as LWJ feels like he didn't stand by WWX early enough or fight hard enough, and LXC feels he wasn't given the opportunity to really understand who JGY was or why he acted as he did

to be completely obvious about it, narrative parallels convey meaning. it tells the reader "something about these two events/sets of characters is fundamentally the same." narrative parallels have also been a very common way historically to subvert censorship when it comes to queer content: you parallel a queer person or couple and a straight couple, and let the viewer draw the lines. i'll be perfectly honest, i don't know as much about the history of this trope in China, but you can certainly see it in CQL itself, and the ways wangxian is paralleled to Yanli and Zixuan to draw attention to the fact that they are both, in fact, romantic couples.

MXTX has said this is not what she was trying to indicate! but she did put in these parallels, and a reader cannot be blamed for interpreting them as indicating something-- or for interpreting them as indicating that the fundamental sameness that the parallel points to is that both wangxian and xiyao are and were in love. maybe it was an accident, but it's a very specific, and very specifically crafted literary device that is inescapably present in the story.

couple #3zun wants Jiang Cheng, but they somehow mess up along the way before getting there, making poor a-cheng feel like "of course, he is taken 😔 he wouldn't like me".

Lan Xichen is the first one to take an interest in Jiang Cheng after seeing him tag along when wwx comes to hang out (or by lqr words: bother) lwj.

He just easily falls for the smart young man. There is just something about him that he really loves.

So of course he tries approaching the young man. And it goes pretty good too! Sure Jiang Cheng was a bit unsure at first why someone like Lan Xichen would ever be interested in HIM, but he slowly warms up.

Soon they even hang out just for themselves, not just because he tags along with wwx and happens to be here. Jiang Cheng is just so happy that someone seems to like him back (because of course he had a crush on him, have you seen him!?).

He also gets to meet with Jin Guangyao and Nie Mingjue.

They both wondered what Lan Xichen kept talking about when he mentioned that cute boy he met. Nie Mingjue knew he was friends with his didi, but that was it. Maybe a story here and there coming from nhs.

but it doesn't take long to understand what lxc means, jc is pretty cute, especially when you praise him and he ends up all flustered because he enjoys the praise.

The two friends were also slowly also falling for jc's charms, wanting him to themselves too.

They would have been happy with lxc getting a new boyfriend for himself, but now they actually also wanted a piece of the little cute jc. if the young man would like it, they are happy to also love him.

And like this, everything was going so well in Jiang Cheng's opinion.

He made new friends who take good care of him, He is becoming a bit more confident now that he has people who don't always pin him against wwx and his crush seems to also be interested in him!

He even thought that he should try and tell lxc about his feeling!

But then his hopes of that got crushed.

They were going to watch a movie and had decided to first grab lunch in a cafe next to the cinema. He was early but assumed he could just get them a table. But he wasn't even in when he saw through the window lxc and jgy kissing at a table, looking as though they had been there for a little while already and having a date.

He wasn't sure what to do, not feeling comfortable at the idea of interrupting whatever moment they were having right now.

He was about to back out, only to bump into someone as he was turning around. He jumped a bit, apologising, only to hear a familiar voice calling out to him. Of course, he had bumped into nmj when he tried to flee.

"Are you alright?" he asked, frowning a bit worried because of jc's reaction. "Yeah, yes, I was just unsure this was the right place" jc lied with a slightly forced smile. There went his chance to run away.

He followed nmj inside, happy to see lxc and jgy were not all over each other again, sitting down with them. The afternoon ended up being a bit awkward for him, trying to still have fun. It was not their fault that he was the one who misunderstood lxc intentions.

at the movie he took a seat next to nmj on the side, making sure to leave lxc and jgy on the other side of nmj.

he couldn't stay with them afterwards though, feeling like he needed to just be alone to tend to his broken heart.

and from there little jc felt more distant from lxc, finding reasons not to be able to hang out if everyone was here, needing some time to just throw aside his feelings ("I get it, jgy is pretty and smart, I wonder bother him with my feelings").

"I don't get it! It feels like a-cheng has been avoiding me lately?! but I don't think I did anything wrong, everything was going smoothly, I was even going to confess to him!" lxc said, laying on nmj's bed.

"Maybe something happened, when did it all start?"

"Three weeks ago? When we went to the movie I think".

jgy hummed, trying to think of what could it be.

"Well, he did look a bit troubled before going to eat" nmj mentioned when he thought about it, "He looked about to leave when I got there.

it was as if he had seen something bad, but he said he was just unsure about the place".

jgy frowned a bit, before remembering what lxc and he had been doing. They had decided to have a little date to themselves just before going, being more openly touchy than usual.

"He saw us kissing," jgy said, turning to nmj, "Why did you never tell us jc had acted weird before joining us?! We thought he had come with you, not gotten there early".

nmj looked unsure, he hadn't thought something like this had happened, he hadn't known those two had decided to go full-on PDA when they knew jc was supposed to join them.

"Don't look at me like this, why hasn't either of you told him about us then? Would have cleared any possible misunderstanding"

With this, they decided it was probably better to tell Jiang Cheng about it. Maybe he wouldn't want to join them, or even just give them a chance to lxc, but it was better to try than see him sad because of a misunderstanding.

But little a-cheng is so hard to contact these days!! He kept being busy or awkwardly finding reason when they see each other. He still couldn't really face Lxc with his feelings knowing he is together with jgy 😔 He wants to be happy for them when they hang out, not feel like crying. He wants to be a good friend!

So 3zun needs to resort to trickery to get him to talk to them! And who's better to do so than Nie Huaisang who of course would *never* trick him, right?

And so he went for dinner with nhs to this new place he wanted to try, only to be abandoned by nhs the moment they got the private room where 3zun already was.

He wanted to go, but nhs made sure he couldn't get out ("I better get a good reward for this dage!").

He had no choice but to accept to sit down, looking nervous and awkward. Not to help none of the older men were saying anything either.

"Look, I think we need to make something clear" jgy finally started as he saw no one was talking. This had jc immediately shrink in his seat, feeling like he knew where it was going.

"There's no need to worry, I get it, I got my feelings all up, but I won't push it on anyone and I am really happy to know you have someone great with you" jc started, not feeling like having that kind of conversation.

"I-I just need a little bit of time to forget it all, it was my mistake, I won't-"

"You got it all wrong!" lxc quickly said, not wanting to see him blame himself again for something he didn't do.

"But... I saw you two kissing" jc said, looking puzzled, how could he get it wrong?

"It's true that I am dating xichen-ge" jgy said, only for jc to sink in his seat again, looking confused as to what they were saying, "But I also do date ming-ge" he added.

This only had jc looking even more confused and surprised, looking at the man sitting next to him.

He had nothing against this, if they were happy that was fine!! But how was it that he got it all wrong? That he was missing nmj in his equation? now this only meant lxc had two great boyfriends he couldn't even compare with.

"lxc is head over heels for you" nmj mentioned as lxc nodded, "He also wants to date you" he then added, making it clear that lxc was still very much interested in him /right now/.

"Is this true?" jc asked when he turned back to lxc, the man giving him a smile.

"Of course, I wouldn't lie to you about this, I really wanted to date you," he said.

"At first we were happy that xichen-ge found someone new to love," jgy said, "But then me and ming-ge also ended up falling for your cute little face and your charms and wanted to start dating you"

"But we understand if you only want to date lxc" nmj mentioned, "you clearly were flirting with him, not us".

This was quite a lot for jc to take in. Not only was the guy he loved also in love with him, but he also had two other great dudes (who were also boyfriends with his crush) loving him?!? how had he attracted the attention of so many successful young men?!?

He thought about it for a moment and got a bit flustered at the idea of being loved by these three people. Could he really?

"You don't need to give us an answer right now," lxc said with a smile, "You can think about it more if you need to".

"It's also okay if you decided to only choice lxc, or no one if this doesn't suit you either" jgy added. they didn't want to make it seems like he would be forced to date them if he didn't want to.

They had dinner all together, jc being curious about how all of this was working for them. it was pretty interesting to listen to, also gave him an idea of how it worked.

By the end of the night, he had already thought about it, grabbing lxc hands as they were getting out of the restaurant. He felt like if he didn't say it right now he wouldn't later and would only doubt himself and his choice.

"I-I would like to try it out with you three... if you do want me around," he said, looking nervous.

He was taken aback when he felt strong arms hug him, looking up at a smiling lxc. "Of course, we would love to," he said.

jc couldn't help but look towards jgy and nmj once lxc let go of him, seeing jgy come for a hug too, much more gentle than lxc had been. "We already said it, we also fell for how cute you are," jgy said, before also being surprised when another pair of strong arms came to hug them both at the same time. "We will make sure to love you so much you won't want to go away anymore and you won't have any more doubt about us" nmj assured him.

jc couldn't help but feel warm at the attention and how confident they sounded in this.

Maybe he was also good enough to have such great and wonderful boyfriends too.

So the ask got deleted accidentally, but @autisticharrywells asked me about SANGYAO for toxic ship bingo, and now that I have forcibly dragged them through all 50 episodes, i can at last go off---- you FOOL! you have fallen directly into my trap!!! Muahahaha

I do not know how I ended up here. I don't know WHY I ended up here, except that I'm some kind of masochist.

Like I was all prepared to be 100% team wangxian otp and read all the fic and shit, and I started out so promising. (And I do love them...) But then. Then. That little demon brought a bird to class. And the other little demon protected him during the Wen thing. The stabbing ?? The warning as Meng Yao was leaving to huaisang DESPITE actively bleeding. The pleading to Mingjue to let Meng Yao stay despite no evidence of Huaisang ever really standing up to question NMJ decisions before like that (esp in front of other clan members) (other than with things like blowing off Sabre practice) THE FAN CLENCH. MY HEART. And THEN they committed their various atrocities during which the no turning back point was hit for them so many times and yet i do believe the remorse was there and so too was some affection still, twisted as it was by time and hatred and isolation and i... I just....I slipped?

There's so much there!!! (and please keep in mind I'm mostly talking from a cql/the untamed perspective, though I have seen the donghua and am aware of book cannon, I just kinda prefer the show as the version I take to heart (with some notable jgy or Huaisang based exceptions bc i'm nothing if not willing to excuse their pretty boy mid-divorce war crimes))

These two have such a deep shared history that spans the entirety of the cannon, and their relationship is extra fascinating on rewatch as you can more clearly track the downward spiral of events.

There's also the tragedy that it COULD have been avoided, was so close to being avoided several times bc JGY is not really EVIL, (any one who says this is being super reductive imo) but he does preserve himself above all other things and people through sheer learned necessity (with the exception of xichen and isn't that also a beautiful part of sangyao tragedy?? That so clearly xichen and JGY were destined to be the tragic counterparts to wwx and lwj's relationship not nhs and jgy? That xichen was the only thing JGY ever sacrificed true parts of himself for, that huaisang knows that he could have done the same for him, but didn't? Because there was too much history with Mingjue to let it go, and also bc the devotion or affection he held for huaisang when they were both on the mountain never surpassed that point. He had too much caution to truly be himself, and Huaisang, I don't think could ever truly see past JGYs status in the way that xichen was able to since he served as his big brother's vice general and also his appointed companion to a degree. ) And where does that leave huaisang? Where he always is. ALONE. On a mountain he never fit in on in the first place. Where does it leave JGY? Stuck in a permanant customer service role to his awful father and branded further untrustable as a spy. Humilated and broken down to the point of just. So much murder. (Some of which I still maintain tain as a public service coughcoughJinGuangShancoughcough)

They are so much alike and yet so different in such key aspects, that I also have to believe they were meant to act as parallels to one another, just like wwx and jgy, or xichen and wangji. The planning and manipulation they both do (in their own ways bc i am in the camp that while huaisang is smarter than the average bear, smarter than he ever wants to let on bc it makes his life easier, he isnt able to truly outpace JGY's ability to craft a situation. What he is good at is manipulating people and social situations, and adapting his outlined plan extremely well on the fly- with the exception of maybe xichen. I dont think he meant to truly hurt xichen like that. I think that was a natural panic that if JGY was allowed to live it would mean Huaisang actually had to die at some point instead, Though I do also think perhaps there is some lingering resentment there that leads to it to bc why is JGY worth pardoning after his crimes to xichen? Doesn't this mean he inherently valued JGY over Mingjue, over Huaisang’s own pain and anguish? (he did, but not maliciously, lans are love blind we know this))

The tragedies of nie huaisang are inextricably linked to the tragedies of jgy and vice versa! Technically, huaisang, as a bastard of the clan leader with one of his concubines, (I think that's right) should be discounted as a noble son, esp considering his weaker nature and lack of talents dictated to be valuable by the standards of the nie clan. He should have the same status really or at least a status more closely similar to jgy who is constatly looked down on because of his mother's position and bastard status, despite his constant hyper competency, as we see so vividly. And yet Huaisang is given title and rank and (some) respect where JGY gets trodden into the mud and shit of life, even as he succeeds in raising the jin clans success through his actions and talents. Meanwhile, huaisang is thought to be a useless leech by others, untalented in the ways of ruling or anything that's deemed an actually respectable skill by clan leader standards. A pathetic little dude who doesn't know how to do anything, and yes, he does get cast as a headshaker in the eyes of the people, but it's never his background thats brought into question as to why he might be failing. It's considered a result of his personality, not his upbringing. And even then he doesn't get shit talked as much as JGY does. Huaisang has all the privilege that JGY was never afforded, and does that color JGYs view a bit? Does it make him just bitter enough that, when combined with his father’s looming threats and taunts, and Mingjue’s inability to ever let anything JGY does go, that he's willing to hurt huaisang in such a way, even just as a byproduct of his mission?

Huaisang’s plan is successful, bc people discount him as incompetent, yes, but also bc they still see him as a noble, as someone of enough inherent value, diminished though it may be, that he weilds that influence even when playing the fool. JGY doesn't get that respect even at his height of his power and competency as a ruler.

They are, neither of them, strong cultivators. But that factor only really affects JGY bc it means he has to fight even harder for acceptance and validation. Huaisang also gets the luxury of CHOOSING not to be a strong cultivator. Because his position in life IS secure, he can slack off. He is allowed to try his hardest to avoid the fate of his family and do his utmost not to cultivate in that manner. Which I think, too, causes some of the resentment. On both sides. Huaisang never has to work a day in his life, has barely any expectations to live up to and still gets the respect Meng Yao is constantly robbed of. And for huaisang- On top of killing his brother via musically-induced, full-bodied rage embolism, JGY is now also the reason that huaisang is thrust into a position he was entirely unprepared for way before he was supposed to be.

And we know, we KNOW that JGY is responsible for so many of Huaisang’s pretty little things. His beloved indulgences granted not by his own brother, but by his doting san-ge. Things that got burned or destroyed by Mingjue simplu for the fact that a) they were from JGY and B) they are not the type of things NMJ cosidereds respectabke hobbies or skills. A large number of his fans and painting supplies are gifts from JGY, and he stood up for and encouraged those hobbies against the person he probably fears the most at that point, Mingjue (even if he's already actively trying to kill him by then). And huaisang seemed genuinely pleased that JGY had found acceptance and was getting what he (thought he) wanted. The friendship and affection was real, just not near strong enough to withstand the crimes of the other.

And oh boy that divorce was rough and bloody and beautiful and tragic and I just love the messy nature of the relationship, how deep and how twisted it went and became. And i think, right up until the very end, JGY didn't truly want to believe that Huaisang was capable of doing this to him, I don't think he ever wanted to hurt huaisang again the way he had to when he killed Mingjue. Use him? Maybe. But not in a malicious way, not by his standards.

I am happy to read any sangyao content I can get, however! I love reading about them as companions on the mountain, growing together, bonding. Maybe young and in love? I love reading the gradual drifting apart. The years they schemed and used each other. The final divorce. And what comes after. Or what could never be. Any content, I will take, and it depends on where in cannon we are that a particular square is filled in.

Jgy had to fight for both acceptance and sheer survival, and huaisang never really had to do either. Except maybe during the ~10 years of the gap when Huaisang had figured him out, but was pretending to be useless to achieve his ends. You could argue the mindset that aside from just avenging his DaGe, he was also concerned about his own survival bc what if he became an Inconvienience instead of just the annoyance he was playing up to be? If he actually stood in Guanyao's way? It would be much easier to take him out than Mingjue, realistically. But what would be that threshold to have JGY actually do anything? Are Huaisang’s histrionics and uselessness useful to him? Or a result of guilty indulgence? Or left over fondness from a ti.e they were so close? Some combo of all? Who can say and I fucking love that uncertainty about them

Saying all that, these two are the poster child for OTP I don't want to end up together in Canon, lol. Unless it's one of the many time travel fix it aus, they simply have too much history and shared issues and rage between them to ever make sense working out. But their stories are so incomplete without the other, they are inexorably linked, and I just think they're neat!

(Please don't come for me cql fans. im sure I've misunderstood or posted an opinion that's utterly debatable on here. But like, also. I'm tired and I love them and I don't care.)

I have more to say about them that you'll probably get to hear at some point when we talk, but for now, they have BROKEN MY BRAIN.

Ok so,

Fem!Wangxian, where they live like canon women in the novel, and WWX has some privileges like being a rarely First Discipule, and goes to CR but study in the female side, and of course there is LWJ who is a a not good example for other women, because she doesn't smile, she enjoy silence, but in a woman who must look for a husband is not a good attitude.

So the both of them got similar experiencies and make best friends really fast, both are better that a lot of men, LQR left LWJ to LXC because he didn't know what to do with a girl. And LXC who spot his meimei.

Both LXC and JFM promises to not negotiate married, one wanna be free and fall in love like her parents and doesn't want to marry JC who is the only option, and LWJ makes LXC promises because she doesn't really like man, they are gross and stupid and if someone try to touch her again she's gonna shop his hand's off.

Canon happens, WC try to rape WWX but he can't. Then Phoenix hunt, LWJ kisses WWX but WWX discover her. Then JZxun say his uncle wanna claim WWX for the Jins, it doesn't matter it is like JGS or JZX concubine or better JZXun wife. Meanwhile JGY try to talk with Xichen about marry LWJ with himself, so when LWJ go with the idea (with a broken heart) maybe Xichen will marry WWX and protect her, Xichen proposes to marry LWJ with JGY, she feel really betrayed and leaves.

So, that nigth, LWJ and WWX talk and accepts to leaves their sect with the only man that can protect and both can accepts them

NHS accepts, because he is no stupid, and when two of the most beautiful women of his world proposes to marry him there is just ome thing to do. Accepts

NHS is asexual for me, maybe a little vouyer, so they have sex, just for babies and he look sometimes, because their two wives are beautiful, and he sees their marrieage in secret.

So, the 3 of them go to a Nie, Lan, Jin and Jiang doctor who can said the truth about the two ladies virginity and run, saves the Wen and have a lot of sex, because the best is if the two are pregnant. (They go to doctor because the Jins spread the rumour about WWX and Wen chao, it doesn't matter if she didn't wanted)

Nie Mingjue run after his brother because JC and LX want to kill him. They do this in secret, so nobody really knows what is happening, just the 3 of them leaves the conference.

They found them in a Inn naked, so NHS and WWX were hiding behind LWJ, because for me she is always a really tall and strong woman (just think in Tiane Endler physics, I mean her arms)

And then married. WWX was pregnant from A Yuan, Nie heir and later another babies, because she loves be pregnant and be take cared for LWJ and NHS who is a great husband and love a lot his wives in a platonic way. LWY was pregnant just one time, after their marriage, she doesn't really like the sex with NHS even if his husband and wife make all comfortable for her. So LJY born, and yes, he was raised for WWX for the real pain of LQR who just wants LSZ like heir, but Xichen refuses to married and spot his sister's son, all of them, because all of WWX children are from LWJ too.

Meanwhile, NMJ protects all of his little gremlins, and love them. Obviously he don't die.

I picked up rereading MDZS (first time with the official English release) after resisting the urge for hella months. (I both want to and desperately don't want to move on from these series LOL.) I never picked up on the Nie brothers having different mothers?? And I don't think the impact of that is clear on the plot? But I wonder what the story is there and if it explains why (beyond the whole fake incompetence thing) NMJ is how he is with NHS. I wonder if NHS internalizes something about what happened to his mother in a similar way to how LWJ does with his. I want to KNOW.

Also, I think this means that the Lan brothers are the only fully blood related sibling unit? We spend so much time focusing on the chaos of offspring brought about by JGS that I feel the rest of the sibling dynamics are understated. Potentially the Wen siblings as well, though I don't recall if any detail is provided about their parents. I wouldn't be surprised if they were half siblings as well. The Jiang trio has its own dynamics, blood relation between JC & JYL but none with WWX, yet intense care and affection all the same (among other spicier details).

These tiny details of chaos and instability do so much to set up this world that has been at war for over a hundred years (this story being the conclusion of it... or one part of it, or a hopeful continuation of temporary peace). A generation of parents lost or disconnected (or just shitty). A generation of youth parentified and sent to war too young. Terrified elders fearing the ways the world could get worse or established power could be threatened.

MDZS from Lan Wangji's perspective is a disillusionment. A interrogation of the status quo created out of survival, firm and unquestioning, but simultaneously lifeless. Wei Wuxian comes in representing pure resilient joy in the face of tragedy, a wine stain on pristine white fabric an artifact of the revelry the night before in the face of darkness. Wei Wuxian the bonfire during the long night, promising life and warmth and chaotic joy and a future that is worth living and fighting for. Lan Xichen's disillusionment strikes also through relationship, but much differently.

(Of course I start this post just pondering family relationships and end up waxing romantic yet again about Wangxian because I HAVE THE BRAINROT SO DEEPLY.)

A generation of orphans raising a new crop of hope, rambunctious and resilient and curious. It's not the blood relation that matters, but who cares for your future, who fans your flames with love and wisdom. Who strokes your hair and makes you soup or fits you to sect colors regardless of how you were found sick in a tree trunk.

Who protects you from whatever Nie Mingjue was protecting Nie Huaisang from, the sturdy older sibling shielding their baby brother while also grumbling about their need to toughen up. A protection and expression of care that drove NHS to devise a plan so extensive it involved bringing someone back from the dead for justice.

The tiny details, ugh. They drive me insane.

Vampire WWX/Fae LWJ: Just a quick question, but when was their first kiss and "I love you"?

It was a few months after Wei Wuxian moved to the Cloud Recesses with A-Yuan. A-Yuan's leaves started falling off when he was about twelve weeks old, and Wangxian were both very worried about him, so they took him back to NHS to find out what was wrong.

NHS told them that A-Yuan was officially growing out of the plant baby stage and becoming a vampire-human-faerie hybrid baby, and Wei Wuxian was so relieved that he grabbed Lan Wangji and kissed him.

I would love some Lan Qiren-centric hurt/comfort or darkfic, though with a happy (satisfying?) ending. Just about any pairing would be good! I typically prefer canon-divergence plots, but whole shift AUs other than mundane modern AUs are also OK (if they're cool).

General LQR notes: I like him with both good aspects and bad: he's rigid, hierarchical, and conservative, often kind of boring, with a temper he can't always control, but I read him as someone who genuinely loves his nephews and wants them to be happy, who is a good teacher when he's given a chance to be, and who is always trying to do the right thing. Personally, I tend to headcanon both LQR and LWJ as being on the autistic spectrum with a special interest in Lan rules, but you don't need to go with that. Feel free to go wild with backstory or sidestory here (for instance, in canon he is very good with the sword and trained LXC and LWJ; feel free to lean into that, or lean away from that! give him something else he's good at! give him additional character traits or hobbies or whatever that were only not mentioned because they weren't relevant to Wei Wuxian's journey!) ALSO: feel free to give him any relationship you want with Qingheng-jun and the whole getting married

However, please do not portray Lan Qiren's devotion to his sect rules as being wrong or something he has to overcome - he is following the instructions for being a good person left down by his ancestors, they are important to him, and the idea should be treated generally with respect; even if you want to have him disagreeing with one of the rules, it should be in a specific context, not "everything I grew up valuing is wrong actually". Similarly, his dislike of WWX should not be treated as "oh because he's conservative he's homophobic and that's the only reason he dislikes him", but based on his experiences with WWX and what WWX has done.

H/C: I would love, love, love something where LQR gets hurt and someone has to rescue him, but in a way that is centered around worrying about and caring for LQR. I've seen too many "WWX rescues LQR with his demonic cultivation thereby forcing LQR to admit he's not that bad" scenarios! or "LQR is hurt but the other person is so worried about him that the entire fic is now about the other person's trauma about people they love being hurt"! Hey look! I finally got to the yoga part of the arc named "I don't think this is a legit yoga pose" after like... tens of thousands of words...

Anyways, I decided to keep this as the same chapter, it'll just end up being super long. Also, the next week or two of updates will be shorter, because I have yoga regrets. So. Much. Research. And trying to make sure I'm describing movements in a sensical way ._.

It has been a time.

I did my best with describing the poses and using the proper terms, but I'm not promising I didn't mess anything up!

“Have you done yoga before?” his dom asked, somehow managing to grab them both mats without releasing his hand.

“Huh?” wwx asked, watching that huge hand manhandle the mats. “What? Oh, uh… a bit? I had a friend who was into it when we were teens?” nhs had been ridiculously into it, actually. Still was, as far as wwx knew. He wouldn’t be surprised if the little pimp was able to do all the fancy moves… positions? He felt like there was an actual word for them? What was it…

lwj’s hand tightened around his for a moment, drawing wwx’s eyes to their clasped hands. His were tiny, compared to his dom's. Cute and petite. They would be almost girly, if he took care of them. He didn’t. Even just a few days after his mani-pedi they were already in need of some love. Broken nails and cuticles he’d ripped off. Calluses and a weird dry spot on the top of one. He supposed that taking care of his hands was technically part of his job now. lwj obviously wouldn’t want to be groped by someone who didn’t have baby soft skin everywhere! He had the money now, so maybe he should make himself an appointment?

“So, I guess I have a little experience? I might fall over, though, just so you know.” He smiled down at his dom as the man arranged their mats. “But, I mean, if you do this often, I’m gonna suck in comparison… What were you doing, before I arrived, I mean?”

“I have a standard morning routine.”

“Oh?” wwx had never had a routine. They gave him hives—not that Wen Qing believed him when he said so. More, he just got itchy inside? Which was totally hives adjacent, if you asked him. It was like all the monotony of the routine was rotting his insides. He had a bit of a schedule now, with his kid, but he was always throwing in whatever spontaneity he could. Even then, his schedule wasn’t his, it was A-Yuan’s, and that alone was enough to calm his twitchy brain down. To make it chill and enjoy the randomness of the things he could control.

lwj hummed, listing off his routine. Get up. Weigh himself. Get dressed. Drink some sort of fancy, healthy green juice. Go for a short run. Exercise his brain—that one wwx was interested in, and the first few minutes of their exercise comprised of lwj listing off the puzzles he played every morning as they relaxed into the mat and opened up their chest… or had the other man said back? Hips? wwx had already lost track.

“I eat breakfast after that. Sometimes, I plan my day, other times I go straight into exercise. The exercise varies day to day. Today, I was doing calisthenics.”

“So—” wwx broke off in a groan as his Cat-Cowed himself, back rounding and arching as he moved. Fucking hell did that feel good. He didn’t stretch nearly enough, man. “So, in other words, I’ve completely messed up your schedule, Mr. Lan?”

The man hummed as he pushed himself gracefully up, motioning for wwx to stay down. “It is fine,” he said as he leaned over his body, positioning his arms and legs, his hands and feet, into a slightly different configuration. “Flatten your hands. Balance your weight equally between your limbs.”

“Alright,” wwx squeaked as he tried to flatten out his palms, tried to ignore lwj’s weight hovering over him. They wanted to resist, his fingers slowly dragging upwards before he had to remind them to stay on the fucking mat.

In this Wei Wuxian is kinda like possessed or something, it's like after his 3 months in burial mounds he comes out very changed he has become very emotionless and has become mute as in he neve ever speaks at all, he always obeys his Sect Leader (Jiang Cheng) and has over all just become a machine who listens to what his master say. Jiang Change,Jiang Yanli and Lan Wangji are very concerned and disturbed about his behaviour. There are chapters where Jiang Yanli and Jiang Cheng try to cheer him up or make him speak something but it never works.And as u can imagine lan Wangji is heartbroken as well

Then i don't remember how exactly but in the end they show Jiang Yanli,Jiang Cheng,Lan Wangji,Nie Huasiang, and an unconscious Wei Wuxian in the burial mounds and it shows that the burial mound spirits had bargained with wei wuxian when he was thrown in and in order to escape from the burial mounds and to protect his family Wei Wuxian had sacrificed his heart to it. But in the end he regains it and he goes back to being normal. And it's an Overall happy ending.

What I remember about it clearly is that WWX was never found by Jiang Fengmian or any cultivator. Many years later he becomes a minister/official of some kind for the emperor, who is not related to the cultivation world. Now comes the fuzzy part, so it may or may not be helpful for finding that fic. The emperor knows when the war breaks out and sends WWX to help settle the war, and WWX once again becomes a leading cause for the demise of Wen Sect. Hello, I’ve been desperately looking for a particular fic but all I really remember is one scene, where after wangxian reunion and justice being served and all (at least I think that bit has already happened by that point of the fic), it turns out that Wen Qing survived after all but had been kept prisoner. I just remember this scene of her in her cell considering her imminent death because her meals have stopped for a some time already (since JGY is no longer around to provide them or something along those lines, but she doesn’t know that) and then she hears a familiar voice outside and she calls desperately despite barely having a voice and despairs for a moment thinking no one noticed but then WWX, who very much did hear her and was wandering around Koi Tower with Lan Zhan for some reason I can’t remember, brings down the entire prison around her and rescues her. I’m fairly certain there must have been a happy ending, because that’s all I ever read. I know it’s not a lot to go on but it’s been driving me insane trying to find it. okay so What if before JL's 100 day ceremony, LWJ who's getting some bad juju's about the whole event decided to approach someone for help with regards to getting the Wen Remenants to safty and contacts WQ, not WWX about the same and she agrees. He approaches NMJ cause he's like this upright gentleman who he's known all is life and he trusts him. Except, the Nie elders are like give us something in exchange and nobody knows (I'm dracina and this will be continued in the next ask that I type up )

(dracina with pt2) about the Nie's using resentful energy so they can't offer for WWX to try to solve the problem/for WQ's medical techniques. Now the Nie elders are smart so they ask for stronger ties with the Lans (pre brotherhood ceremony) in the form of marriage with the Second Jade. This blindsides LWJ and WQ and the Nie's kinda offered it as a way to ascertain what kinda way they could mitigate the backlash of the cultivation world if they were to help. NMJ was not available for comment so

(dracina pt3) he doesn't know about any of this just like the Lans don't. LWJ accepts and is particularly heartbroken cause the last time he saw WWX, he was yelled at and kicked out for attempting to talk to him about the energy he was using. Cue WWX realizing his feelings out of jealousy, NMJ realizing his feelings and also the fact that he's always gonna be the second choice. Cue

I can definitely see WWX leaving after the rejected confession and LWJ and NMJ resolving their miscommunications. Like, the Wens are safe now he and WQ created a way to help the Nie so they don’t really need him anymore. That and the heartache of seeing the man he loves happily married to someone else... yeah, traveling sounds like a great idea.

After a Yunmeng bros reconciliation after a night hunt with LWJ, WWX, JC, JL and the juniors with NHS (hosting them for the night) asks how LWJ and WWX fell in love in the first place. JC is reluctantly curious having also missed a lot of context.

No one is really quite prepared for the true scope and behind the scenes context behind the epic lovestory, all NHS knows is he desperately wants to write and publish it.

It involved a lot of a night hunt - in Qinghe - nearly gone wrong, drinking, crying and rough housing as it usually did when it came to Jiang Cheng and Wei Wuxian. The two of them had never been able to resolve their conflicts in an amiable and peaceful manner like the Twin Jades did and that was fine.

The Twin Jades were the Twin Jades.

And Wei Wuxian and Jiang Cheng were the Twin Prides. They handled their emotions and conflicts differently and that was okay.

That didn't mean that Lan Wangji had to be happy with seeing his Wei Ying cry. He had barely held himself back from bodying Jiang Cheng for hurling cruel words at his husband, but Lan Wangji bore with it and was glad that he had a lifetime of training his restraint because it seemed like the two of them had resolved their differences.

Lan Wangji watched as the two brothers passed out from the alcohol and sighed, hauling the both of them up and returning to the rooms that Nie Huaisang had provided both him and the Juniors.

Somewhere during that trip, they had been joined by said Juniors - Jin Ling, Lan Jingyi, Lan Sizhui - and Nie Huaisang and the brother had both woken up from the commotion of their joined company.

Thankfully, they seemed a lot more sober as both had similar embarrassed reactions to being carried like some unruly cats. After placing them down and getting the both of them some water, Nie Huaisang glanced at both Lan Wangji and Wei Wuxian and asked a question that sparked Wei Ying's creative mind, "How did the two of you fall in love anyway?"

"Hm? Oh, us?" Wei Ying asked. "Do you really want to know?"

"I do." Sizhui said. "You never told us the full story, Baba. I'm curious."

"Same here!" Lan Jingyi and Jin Ling replied, one enthusiastic, one a little reluctant.

Jiang Cheng said nothing but seemed intrigued as well.

With so many people looking at them, Wei Ying caved, "Well, if you're sure you want to know......"

"It started on a beautiful moonlit night. I had been a little bored and craving some alcohol so I left for Caiyi and returned passed the curfew to the Cloud Recesses."

"How did you get past the wards?"

"Hm? Oh, it was already partially broken by a fallen tree, it was easy to create a talisman to make the gap bigger." Wei Wuxian said casually. "Anyway! I was just going to admire the moon as I drank some delicious Emperor's Smile wine when out comes the most beautiful boy I had ever seen, scolding me for breaking the rules for trespassing, bribing him, and bringing in alcohol."

".........Bribing?"

"Yeah. I said, 'Emperor's Smile! I'll give you one if you pretend you didn't see me!' and when he told me to look at the Wall of Discipline, I brushed him off, saying that it was so long, no one would read it!"

Lan Jingyi shivered, "You're one brave man, Senior Wei....."

"Hehehe~ it's good that you know it!" He tapped his nose. "Lan Zhan got so angry! Especially after I drank a bottle in front of him and told him that it technically wasn't breaking the rules if I drank it on the roof. He drew his sword and we began to fight."

Wei Wuxian laughed. "Yeah, it was honestly so amusing to see his stoic face break out into anger."

Lan Wangji closed his eyes, "Hmm. Wei Ying was beautiful in the moonlight."

Wei Wuxian turned red. "Lan er-gege, you can't just say that!"

"Can."

"Can we just move on?" Jiang Cheng said irritatedly, seeing them lovingly gaze into each other's eyes.

"Okay!"

What progressed from there was Wei Wuxian recalling how he was brought for punishment soon after, how he relentlessly chased after a seemingly uncaring Lan Wangji, teasing him, poking him, coercing him to break the rules....

Lan Wangji even began to offer some context.

"I wasn't angry. I was barely holding myself back from bending you over the nearest table. That's why I seemed mad."

and

"I always looked at you the second you looked away. I didn't want to be caught."

and

"I hadn't come to terms with my feelings and I took that out on you."

Eventually, they came to the day Lan Wangji first told Wei Wuxian to 'get lost.'

"I was very much remorseful." Lan Wangji wilted. Wei Wuxian comforted him and decided that the best way to cheer him up was through distraction.

"Hey, Nie-xiong, remember that book that you gave me during our study days. You know, that book, the one I never got to return to you."

"Oh yes, I do! A pity I never got it back, it was quite good, but Wei-xiong, what does this have to do with--Oh. Oh no. You didn't!" Nie Huaisang gasped. "Wei-xiong, tell me you didn't!!"

"I did." Wei Wuxian seemed exceptionally pleased with himself, telling everyone how he showed a yellow book to Lan Wangji. The reactions he got varied from shocked to embarrassed.

Wei Wuxian went on to tell them how he caught some rabbits for Lan Wangji as a gift, and perhaps an apology for bothering him.

"But then you caught me sneaking alcohol in again and we both got punished so I couldn't really leave you alone. You told me to 'get lost' again er-gege, I was really very sad. So much so that I was actually going to leave you alone after that. I may be shameless, but I wasn't about to continue to intrude into your space if you rejected me so vehemently like that. You really made me feel unwanted!"

Lan Wangji seemed to close in on himself, "I know that my attitude was beyond reproachful and I wanted to apologize." He sighed. "I don't know why I never did."

Wei Wuxian patted him.

"But perhaps it was because I was two seconds away from pressing you into the stones and just taking what I wanted."

"Lan Zhan." Wei Wuxian hissed. "There are children here."

"They are old enough." Lan Wangji replied.

Wei Wuxian 's tone then grew quiet as he told of the fight between Jin Zixuan and him when the peacock had insulted his sister. He glossed over his time in Lotus Pier and merely said he was waiting for Lan Zhan to take him up on his invitations to come to Lotus Pier or even write him letters. He got neither.

(Lan Wangji himself started to realize the scope of his actions and how he never really made an effort to gain Wei Wuxian's trust, but did add in how he went to the Lotus ponds in Gusu, picking the lotuses with stems, seeing if grilled watermelon rind was good, keeping the trinkets that Wei Wuxian had given him throughout their acquaintance, and trying spicy food just to see why Wei Wuxian liked it.)

They met up again at the Archery competition and Wei Wuxian recounted how he met a shy, stuttering Wen Ning and how he relentlessly pestered Lan Wangji, unable to stay too long away from him and how he took off his forehead ribbon. ("I swear I didn't know what it meant! I just wanted a reaction from him!")

They never met again until the indoctrination. And Wei Wuxian told a tale of the abuse they endured under the Wens and Wen Chao's hands. ("Keep in mind that not all the Wens acted like that." He said, looking at Sizhui subtly. "And others may have only acted that way under orders or duress.)

Then came the Xuanwu cave, the song Lan Wangji had made for Wei Wuxian, their plan to kill the Xuanwu and how Lan Wangji had taken care of a feverish Wei Wuxian.

They skipped over the Lotus Pier Massacre, but Lan Wangji recalled feeling extremely worried for Wei Wuxian, volunteering to look for him both during Wei Wuxian’s escape and after rumors of his capture.

The war was in full swing by the time Wei Wuxian exited the Burial Mounds and Lan Wangji and Wei Wuxian both told their own perspectives of meeting each other again and how they always fought about the silliest of things.

Post-war was better with Lan Wangji hopelessly pining over Wei Wuxian and Wei Wuxian beginning to feel something for Lan Wangji through the flower he tossed him.

Phoenix Mountain and the stolen kiss.

(”I thought he was a maiden....”

“You thought someone that was able to press you down was a maiden?” Jiang Cheng deadpanned.

“Hey, there are strong women, you know!”)

Wei Wuxian’s helplessness and rage over Wen Qing’s situation and Lan Wangji’s helplessness and confliction, being unable to help Wei Wuxian, wanting to hide and lock him away.

(”Oh, Lan Zhan......”

“Wei Ying....”

“Can you please stop lovingly looking at each other like that?” Jiang Cheng was ignored.

“Aww, but it’s adorable, Jiang-xiong!” Nie Huaisang fluttered his fan.)

They don’t meet for a few years and they meet through a child Wei Wuxian took care of from the Wen refugees. (Wei Wuxian didn’t reveal the name of the child for reasons.) Wei Wuxian giggled, remembering Lan Wangji’s utterly lost expression as the child hugged his leg. Lan Wangji sighed exasperatedly and continued, giving details of their date and rather sad parting.

Wei Wuxian’s expression became somber as he glossed over the events that came next and somewhat bittersweet as he told of the peaceful darkness that came with death. Lan Wangji told of his grief over his death and how he promised to be better should they meet again.

The two of them filled in the details of his resurrection and the events following that. How Wei Wuxian tried to flirt with Lan Wangji until he became angry like in their younger days, how Lan Wangji was seemingly immune to his charms.........

Jingyi, “Wow, Senior Wei, you really weren’t kidding when you said Hanguang-Jun made your back sore.”

Sizhui, “Jingyi!”

Jin Ling, “Wait.....what?”

“A long time?” Sizhui asked.

“Ah, yeah. I accidentally took Lan Zhan’s forehead ribbon off during the archery competition when we were young. He was so angry but I could never figure out why.”

“Didn’t you copy the rules a lot of times?” Jingyi frowned.

“Yeah, but I didn’t think I ever needed to remember all of them. I just remembered the more important ones.” He sighed. “In any case, either that time or when I found out, I didn’t get enough time to ponder it since Chifeng-zun’s corpse started hobbling out.”

“Luckily, Hanguang-Jun and Lan-zongzhu were there.” Jingyi patted his chest in relief. “I thought we were going to die.”

“You brat, what about me?” Wei Wuxian pouted.

“Hmph, you weren’t reliable, probably.” Jin Ling smirked.

The juniors had a little chuckle. Though not for long as Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji breezed through the Jinlintai conference and stabbing after that. Lan Wangji recalled how afraid he was to lose Wei Wuxian again and how he did the best he could to nurse him back to health.

“Lan Zhan took such good care of me.” Wei Wuxian cooed, scratching the underside of Lan Wangji’s chin.

Lan Wangji’s eyes darkened, “Behave.”

Wei Wuxian shivered. Ah, if only we were alone.....

The pair went on to mention the discovery of the missing Collection of Turmoil page and Wei Wuxian’s feelings about Lan Wangji being so close to him.

“In hindsight, I started becoming more aware of my physical attraction to him at that point.”

Wei Wuxian continued the story, giving some bits about their journey to the Burial Mounds. He even gleefully mentioned pressing Lan Wangji down into the hay when they stopped at some random person’s house and how nice it felt when Lan Wangji reversed their positions.

Later, at the Second Siege of the Burial Mounds, Wei Wuxian said how he expected to be left alone. He had experienced a lifetime of those he loved leaving him behind when it mattered most - though he didn’t quite phrase it like that. He expected this time to be the same. (In the back, Jiang Cheng looked away in shame.)

But just like in Jinlintai, Lan Wangji stood by his side. “Realizing that Lan Zhan would stick by me no matter what, no matter the opposition......it was overwhelming. I wasn’t prepared for it.”

“I will always be on your side.” Lan Wangji kissed his cheek. Wei Wuxian nuzzled him back.

The rest of the people in the room blushed various shades of red.

Jiang Cheng coughed, “Could we please continue?”

“Mmhm.” Wei Wuxian agreed, but still looked lovingly at his husband.

They skipped over the sadder parts of Wei Wuxian’s return to Lotus Pier but did share Wei Wuxian draggin Lan Wangji around the markets of Yunmeng sharing everything that he had wanted to share should Lan Wangji had visited.

“I regret not taking you up on that offer.” Lan Wangji said. “Perhaps if I had, perhaps if I had gotten to know you better in those visits.....perhaps it would have all been different.”

Wei Wuxian leaned into his shoulder. “Ah, Lan Zhan, I really did feel hurt that you didn’t come, but I expected it, you know? We weren’t exactly all that close, so I don’t blame you for not coming.”

“Should’ve not rejected Wei Ying. I was foolish.”

“Aiya, it’s in the past. In any case, we’re together now. So don’t worry about it, er-gege.”

“Hm.”

Wei Wuxian continued the story, saying how he came upon a certain tree - he gave Jiang Cheng a look - and told everyone, “In my heart, I think that moment that I feel out of that tree and Lan Zhan caught me, was the first time I could really admit to myself that I loved him.” Wei Wuxian smiled. “I have fallen many times in my life and had hardly had anyone who could catch me, who could break my fall, who could hold me close and make me feel loved. Shijie was the first one. And Lan Zhan was the next. In different contexts, of course.”

“That’s....oh my god, Wei-xiong that’s so sweet!”

Wei Wuxian’s eyes softened. “Yeah. Yeah, it is. I really, really loved him then. And could admit it to myself. However......I did not believe that he returned my feelings.”

“But why!” Lan Jingyi asked. “Hanguang-jun obviously cares a lot about you!”

“Yeah, but I thought he was just making it up to me.”

“Wei-qianbei, you’re really dense.” Sizhui sighed. “Hanguang-jun cares about a lot of people, but it is only with you that he gets.....touchy.”

Wei Wuxian awkwardly scratched the side of his face with a finger. “Yeah. I know now.”

The two of them did not mention the golden core situation. Jiang Cheng and Wei Wuxian had just reconciled and the revelation of the golden core was a....difficult topic to broach. They moved on to arriving in Yunping and mention discussing what to do next. But, they didn’t mention the details.

“Let’s just say that things happened and we misunderstood each other and leave it at that, okay?” Wei Wuxian blushed and Nie Huaisang looked between them, something knowing in his eyes.

“Aaaaanyway, I arrived at the Guanyin temple and was safe and just observing the situation when Jin Ling was in danger so I graciously saved him.”

“Hey, I had it covered!” Jin Ling squacked indignantly.

“What is this about?” Jiang Cheng asked suspiciously.

“Weeeeell, Little Jin Ling here was led to the temple by Fairy and wanted to peak over to see what was up and ended up nearly getting an arrow to the face!”

“Jin. Ling.” Jiang Cheng gritted out.

“Let’s just continue the story! How did you confess?” Jin Ling shouted.

Wei Wuxian grinned but nevertheless answered the question, “Hm, it was quite simple, actually. It only took Lan Xichen telling me what you sacrificed to help me and calling me your “only mistake” to really knock some--”

“Brother did what.” “Lan Xichen did what.” Lan Wangji and Jiang Cheng darkly interrupted.

“Oh, uhh, I mean. Umm, calm down? You two look like your out for blood. Calm down! It’s in the past.”

“No.” Lan Wangji growled. “No, Brother does not have the right to say that. You were not a mistake, never a mistake. You are the one right I’ve made in this world, Wei Ying.”

“Lan Zhan!” Wei Wuxian’s face flared red.

“Lan Wangji, I have some words for your Brother.” Jiang Cheng said.

Lan Wangji nodded.

“Aiya, you two. It’s been what, months? Don’t worry about it!”

Lan Wangji and Jiang Cheng did not look like they agreed with that sentiment.

“So, Wei-xiong, how did you end up confessing?”

“Oh, uhh, well, umm, Jin Guangyao had a chord to my neck so I made the executive decision to try and shock him with a confession of what I wanted Lan Zhan to do to me.” He could not get the blush off of his face for this. “In.....In bed.”

The faces of most everyone in the room went shockingly red.

“Of course I properly confessed right after that! But--”

“Wei Wuxian, how could you be so shameless?!”

“Hey, I had to shock my captor into releasing me!”

After a few more grumbles, everyone decided to get some dinner considering how late it had gotten.

“Well, Wei-xiong, I’d say that was a wonderful love story, but it sounds too much like those cliche tragic romance novels, right? Though the only differences is that you got a happy ending in the end.”

“Hmm, yeah. I never really thought about it like that. But it really does seem that way, haha!”

Lan Wangji settled by Wei Wuxian’s side, hugging him close and Nie Huaisang watched them and wondered.

Bonus:

“L-Lan Zhan! Th-There’s. There’s a book! I knew Nie-xiong was up to something!! Look, he actually published our story!!”

Lan Wangji set down his work and took a brief scan of the book. “It does not have our names. And some of the details are exaggerated.”

“I know.” Wei Wuxian slithered his arms around Lan Wangji’s back. “And er-gege, there are some scenes that might inspire you tonight.” He smirked as Lan Wangji’s gaze got dark.

“Mark your words.”

“Oh, they’re marked alright. Give me your best, Lan Zhan.”
