Pokémon! Got get that traumaaa!!
Below is just info about the little guys cause yah know
William’s Pokémon consist of his Lopunny, Drifloom, and Mimikyu. Lopunny, who he calls Bonnie, is extremely strong as a Pokémon. He’s violent and covered in scars from various battles. William doesn’t care too much about healing his Pokémon unless there is a possibility of them dying. William uses Bonnie to leer children away and Drifloom to grab them. Drifloom doesn’t have a nickname because William doesn’t really care for him outside of him being a tool. I like to think Drifloom is killed somewhere around the second missing child incident. Last one he has is Mimikyu, who I made look like a little plushtrap because I thought it was fun. I also have an idea that he turns into Mimic later after William is gone. I think that’s funnnn. Anyways Mimic also helps William with his killing murders. He also had a lot of fun causing nightmares for Will’s kids lol.
Mike’s Pokémon consists of Nickit and kinda Litwick. We know little of Nickit who he calls Nickie lol. Nickie was given to Mike by William as his first Pokémon, and William was not kind when it came to training. Nickits are not the strongest Pokémon, but they are especially weak when it comes to a very aggressive and high-leveled team. Mike is very close to Nickie, but before his siblings died, he was very similar in the way William treats his Pokemon. Nickie never hated him tho, she would be there for Mike :( Litwick however, prays on this guy’s downfall lmao. He found Mike just before Lizzie died and hasn’t left him since. Litwicks literally feed off of kids dying and there is no better family to follow around than the Aftons.
Lizzie actually hasn’t had Mime Jr (aka Baby) for long at all. William gave her Baby on her birthday, and then the next day Lizzie went missing. See, Mime Jrs like to copy and mimic behavior, especially to make a trainer happy. And there happens to be a child-murdering man that Lizzie heavily looks up to in the house with them. Yeah, Baby killed her lol. I like to think William kept her after Lizzie died, but idk what he did with her.
Evan’s Cubone was actually their mother’s Pokemon, but she died not long after Evan was born. Cubone attached themself to Evan because of their similarities— both being motherless crybabies and all. After Evan was killed, Cubone was a mess and extremely violent towards Mike. Nickie did her best to protect Mike, but that caused a lot of aggression to be pushed onto her. Eventually, Cubone left the Afton family, decidedly taking Evan’s Fredbear plush with them.

Cora stood at the window of her home. It was barely light and she was still dressed in her pajamas. Wrapping her arms around herself, she stepped out onto the front deck of her home, and closed the door behind her. Stepping further out onto the deck, she stared in the direction of the Naval Air Base, trying to hold herself together.
She hadn’t slept last night. Not after her talk with Nickie and her discussion with her dad. Glancing down at her fingers, she tried to rub the blue ink out of her finger pads. The ink was still wet when she handed that photo to Maverick for the transfer. He shot her a look that she didn’t have the stomach to return and pulled her into a tight hug before he was gone.
Letting out a shaky breath, Cora turned back to the Naval Air Base to see an F/A-18 take off. And then another. And then another. Slowly sinking onto the front steps of her home, Cora watched them fly off before slowly lowering her head down into her hands as tears streamed down her cheeks.
~~~~~
Bradley rifled through his small bag, moving to grab his sleep clothes. Omaha was already in his bunk behind him, but Bradley’s mind was racing too fast for him to fall asleep quite yet. The mission was set for tomorrow and they were simply getting into position tonight.
Reaching for his toothbrush, Rooster paused and frowned when he felt his hand brush against a thick piece of paper. Pulling it out of his pack, Rooster paused when he realized that it was a photo. A photo of him and Cora at their senior prom.
How did that get into his bag?
Flipping it over, Rooster’s eyes quickly landed on the blue ink on the back of the photo. It was slightly smudged and the letters were written in haste, but it was clearly Cora’s handwriting. He knew it all of these years later.
Nickie told me about your meeting. Come home safely and we can talk.
Rooster flipped the photo over again, remembering that night vividly. He and Cora spent the whole night together, never wanting to leave each other’s sides, and caught up in the kind of love that only teenagers seemed to experience.
And bile rose in his throat when Rooster did the math in his head.
Cora was probably already pregnant in these photos. And it might just be the closest that they would ever get to having a photo of all three of them.
~~~~~
Maverick stared out at the assembled aviators in front of him with his hands folded calmly behind his back. This was the moment. He knew that someone wasn’t coming back from this mission and now he had to pick the pour souls who would be on the chopping block, all of which had families and friends back home waiting for their return.
The foxtrot teams were a simple choice. Speed and accuracy and ability to react quickly were his main criteria for that. Picking the single flier was the difficult choice. The one that would probably haunt him for the rest of his life. However long that might be.
Hangman was the answer on paper—he flew the fastest and the most aggressively, which was what the mission called for. But no one trusted him to cover their backs. Coyote was out. The G-LOC incident grounded him. And between Fritz and Rooster, Rooster had the better stats and repertoire with the foxtrot teams. So, the answer was there. He just had to make it.
“Rooster,” Maverick called after Cyclone’s prompting.
The initial shock that Rooster wore on his face was clear as day, though he quickly shoved it behind the mask that all of them were wearing during the briefing. The mask that all aviators forced themselves to put on before every mission.
Rooster and Maverick locked eyes for a moment, a silent conversation passing between them. The more sheepish, guilt-stricken side of Rooster stood out more than Maverick had seen since the incident seventeen years ago. And from what Nickie said, Maverick knew that it was genuine. He just wished that it happened sooner.
Then Nickie and Rooster could have actually talked and learned about each other. Rooster could have made it up to Cora and that stress could have been off of her shoulders years ago. And then they could have been just like any ordinary family of three.
But things were never simple in the Mitchell family. Nor were they easy in the Bradshaw family.
Maverick nodded to the gathered aviators before making his way to the locker room, leaving Rooster standing there, a bit lost.
~~~~~
Rooster stepped out onto the flight deck, gripping his helmet loosely and clearly lost in his thoughts. He wasn’t expecting to be chosen. Not after everything that he and Maverick had put each other through over the years, and especially in the last few days. Not after he coasted his way through the training runs, never quite pushing it like Hangman did.
He didn’t think that he was good enough for this mission. And yet here he was.
Picking his head up for a moment, Rooster paused when he found Hangman standing on the deck in front of him, a serious expression on his face. Gone was the arrogant edge that made Rooster want to knock his teeth out ever since he met him. No, for once, Hangman actually looked like a team player. Like someone who cared if everyone came home.
“You give ‘em hell,” Hangman yelled over the roar of the engines, before making his way to his plane.
Rooster barely even acknowledged Hangman as he walked away, too caught up in his emotions. Nickie wanted to see him. Cora wanted to see him. Maverick chose him out of the line up of the best aviators in the country. Hangman was actually believed in him.
Rooster was so lost that it was a miracle he didn’t fall off the side of the ship.
Righting himself, Rooster turned and walked over to the plane adjacent to his own. Maverick was running through the pre-flight checks on his own aircraft when Rooster approached him, a bit more frantically than he intended.
“Sir? Sir?” Rooster called, causing Maverick to turn around to face him. “I . . . I just want to say—”
The orders over the comms cut off Rooster’s apology and automatically snapped both aviators into action. Maverick, seeing the shakiness to Rooster’s expression, took charge.
“We’ll talk. When we get back,” Maverick assured Rooster, who nodded curtly in return.
Maverick watched Rooster turn around and head for his own plane. Letting out a breath, Maverick looked to the ground, shaking his head before moving around to climb into his plane. Maverick didn’t want to lie to Rooster. But he wanted to protect him even more.
And, so, he lied.
~~~~~
Nickie sat out on his surfboard, staring out into the Pacific Ocean with a far-off expression in his eye. The waves passed harmlessly under him, tickling his calves, but not pushing him hard enough to snap him out of his daze. Maverick was somewhere out in the Pacific in that direction. Bradley was somewhere out in the Pacific in that direction.
And Nickie hated waiting. He hated not knowing.
“Hey, Mitchell!” one of the other surf team boys called, breaking Nickie out of his trance. “Let’s go!”
“Right,” Nickie breathed out, blinking rapidly.
Turning to shoot one last look in the direction of the Pacific, Nickie paddled forward to catch a wave, ignoring how his stomach was knotted uncomfortably with stress.
~~~~~
Maverick signaled to the deck crew that he was prepared for launch before grabbing the handle. Forcing himself to take a breath, Maverick closed his eyes for a moment, picturing Nickie and Cora back home, safe and sound and taken care of, before he opened his eyes, completely focused on the mission directly in front of him.
“Watch over ‘em, Ice,” he murmured, before his plane was launched into the air.
~~~~~
Cora stood on the sand with Penny, watching Nickie surf with the other surf team kids. The two women had barely talked since Cora arrived, both caught up in their own thoughts. Cora wrapped her arms around herself, watching Nickie surf through the waves, though not as well as he normally did. He was distracted, she could tell, and the realization made her heart ache.
“He’s doing well,” Penny commented, causing Cora to nod slowly.
“But he’s not in it,” Cora stated softly, turning to face Penny. She gestured to the open ocean in front of them. “His head’s out there.”
“Can’t blame the kid,” Penny replied, just as Nickie wiped out.
Cora held her breath until Nickie resurfaced, completely unharmed, but just a little sheepish. Settling back down, Cora pursed her lips together and stared out at the setting sun in the distance. Penny reached out and wrapped an arm around her, giving Cora some support.
They didn’t need to discuss it. They both saw the look in Maverick’s eyes when he said goodbye.
“I think I’m going to take Amelia on a sailing trip,” Penny suggested, causing Cora to nod in return. “Did you and Nickie want to come?”
“No, thank you though,” Cora replied softly, turning back to her son. “I’m worried that Nickie would go tumbling off the side at this rate.”
“You know that I’m always here for the two of you.”
“I know, Penny. Thank you.”
Cora turned back to the waves of the distant ocean, unable to help the tears building in her eyes. Silently letting them drip down her cheeks, Cora let Penny pull her into a tight hug as the two women tried to hold themselves together for the sake of their children. And, frankly, for themselves.
~~~~~
“Dagger Two defending!” Rooster called out, spotting the SAMs behind him. Slamming his fist into the flares button, Rooster cursed when none popped out. “Shit! I’m out of flares!”
“Rooster, evade, evade!” Maverick yelled back, quickly turning around to help.
“I can’t shake them! They’re on me! They’re on me!” Rooster warned, going through evasive maneuvers.
Maverick didn’t hesitate. He just moved.
A thousand thoughts were flying through his head as he sped towards Rooster. Goose’s face. Carole’s face. Cora’s face. Nickie’s face. Oh, God, Nickie. Racing to protect his best friend’s son and his grandson’s father that he barely knew, Maverick hurried to get into position.
Rooster had to live. He had to live. He had to make it right with Cora. He had to make it right with Nickie. He had to live. He had to survive.
The sensors in front of Rooster started to beep aggressively, warning him that the SAMs were getting closer. Maverick yanked back on the joy stick, using the cobra maneuver to fly up above Rooster. Slamming his fist onto his flare button, Maverick released the flares behind Rooster, protecting him from one of the SAMs.
But Maverick’s own sensors started to blare as the second SAM flew forward.
“Mav!” Rooster screamed out in a panic.
Maverick grunted as the SAM hit him directly in the back of his aircraft. His plane broke apart and he started hurtling towards the ground in a great ball of fire. Sensors beeped all around Maverick as he released the joy stick, submitting to his fate.
And just before it all went back Maverick swore that he heard Nickie’s voice calling out to him.
~~~~~
“Penny said that she’s taking Amelia on a sailing trip,” Cora told Nickie softly as they packed up his gear to head back home. “Did you want to go?”
“No,” Nickie replied quietly, shaking his head. “I think that I just want to stay home.”
“We’ll do whatever you want to do, okay?” Cora assured Nickie, forcing a small smile.
“Do you think we could get those burgers at the diner that Gramps likes?” Nickie asked as he opened the passenger door.
“I thought that you hated those burgers,” Cora replied quietly, staring over at her son. “You always said that they were too greasy.”
“I know, but . . . Gramps always like them,” Nickie returned softly.
Trying to not let her lips wobble, Cora forced a smile and grabbed Nickie’s hand, giving it a small squeeze. Turning on the car, she faced forward to try and get control over her emotions.
“We’ll get some burgers then. For your Gramps.”
~~~~~
Maverick sprinted through the thick snow, powered by sheer determination. Every few steps he took, Maverick did a quick calculation about how much farther Rooster was and about how long it would take to get to him. His first aid training ran through his brain too.
Was Rooster hurt? Did he land safely? Did he eject safely? Maverick didn’t have the answer.
Spotting Rooster upright and kneeling in the snow, shoving down his parachute, Maverick felt new energy course through his veins. Rooster was alive. And he wasn’t hurt too bad based on the way that he was kneeling. He was alright. He was going to survive his ejection.
“You alright!?” Maverick yelled, hopping over a snow bank.
“Yeah, I’m good. You alright?” Rooster called back, right before Maverick pushed him straight into a pile of snow. “Jesus! What the hell!?”
Rooster yanked his helmet off and shoved it into the snow. Maverick slipped his off as well before turning to give Rooster the scolding of a lifetime.
“What are you doing here!?”
“What am I doing here!?” Rooster squawked back indignantly as he stood up.
“You think I took that missile for you so you could be down here with me!? You should be back on the carrier by now!”
“I saved your life!” Rooster snapped back.
“I saved your life! That’s the whole point.” Shaking his head incredulously, Maverick turned back to Rooster. “What the hell were you even thinking!?”
“You told me not to think!”
Maverick didn’t have a response for that, simply breathing heavily as he tried to catch his breath. Rooster nodded sarcastically, throwing his arms up in the air, before slamming them back at his sides. Both Maverick and Rooster breathed heavily, looking around the forest for any hostiles, before turning back to each other.
“You were supposed to go back to Cora and Nickie,” Maverick sighed, staggering a bit. Squatting in the snow, Maverick looked up at Rooster, who stared back evenly at him. “You were supposed to go back and make it right.”
“I am going to,” Rooster vowed, straightening up. He looked around the forest again before returning his gaze to Maverick. “But it wasn’t going to work without you.”
Maverick let out a breath, dropped his head down onto his hand. Rubbing his face as he tried to catch his breath properly after sprinting a couple miles at his age, Maverick picked his head up to find Rooster already offering him a hand. Taking it, Maverick accepted Rooster’s help up and dusted some of the snow off of his flight suit.
“She’s going to kill us when she finds out,” Maverick stated, glancing around the forest.
“If she finds out,” Rooster suggested, causing Maverick to nod in agreement.
“Well, it’s good to see you,” Maverick replied with a small smile.
“It’s good to see you too,” Rooster returned, setting his hands on his hips. “So, what’s the plan?”
~~~~~
Cora looked up from her computer when one of the nurses at her office rushed into the room that she was charting in. Immediately assuming that something was wrong with one of the patients, Cora leapt to her feet, ready for action.
“What is it? What’s wrong?”
“You have to come see. Room 22.”
Cora quickly rushed down the hall, overtaking the junior nurse. Opening the door to the patient room, Cora stepped inside, expecting to see a swarm of doctors and nurses, but all she saw was her dad, dressed in his flight suit, waiting for her on the patient bed.
And in that moment, Cora wasn’t thirty-four. She was a little kid all over again.
Letting out a choked sob, Cora raced across the room and threw herself into her dad’s waiting arms, completely unaware that her coworkers were filming the whole thing. And she was even less aware that there was another surprise guest waiting for her in the corner. Unable to help the tears of relief, Cora let her dad rock her back and forth.
“I’m alright,” Maverick chuckled, hugging his daughter to his chest. “Just a few bumps and bruises.”
“I know that you’re hiding injuries from me, but I don’t even care right now,” Cora sobbed, unwilling to let go of her dad. “You’re home. You’re home.”
“We’re home.”
Releasing her dad, Cora wiped some of her tears away and turned to see Rooster standing in the corner, also dressed in his flight suit. It took her a second, a painful second where Rooster wondered if she was even happy to see him, before Cora took off again. Running into his arms, Cora buried her face into Rooster’s shoulder, and Rooster quickly returned the hug.
Wrapping her arms around him tightly, Cora breathed in Rooster’s cologne, soothing herself just a bit more. They were home. They were safe. They were alive. There wouldn’t be a funeral. There wouldn’t be a burial. They were here.
“You came back,” Cora whispered shakily, causing Rooster to hug her tighter.
“I wasn’t going to leave you guys. Not again.”
Cora nodded against him, letting out a shaky breath. Maverick smiled at Cora and Rooster’s embrace as he stood up. Cora and Rooster broke away, both turning to Maverick.
“So, how’re we going to surprise Nickie?” Maverick asked, wearing that iconic mischievous smirk.
~~~~~
Nickie walked up to the side door and unlocked it, heading inside after taking the bus home from school. He locked the door behind him and went about his usual after-school routine as if it was a normal day. Dropping his backpack onto one of the chairs, Nickie turned for the fridge to grab a snack. He opened the fridge door and frowned when he found a note waiting for him with his mom’s handwriting.
“Turn around?” he read aloud, confused, before doing as the note said.
Nickie had a split second to register who was standing behind him before sprinting the last few steps over to his grandfather. Maverick laughed as Nickie had to bend a little to give him a hug and rubbed his back as Nickie quickly sobbed into his shoulder. Cora held a hand to her mouth, happy tears coming to her eyes as Nickie reunited with his grandfather.
“You’re alive,” Nickie croaked out, hugging his grandfather just a little tighter.
“Well, apparently, I refuse to die,” Maverick returned, causing Nickie to laugh a bit shakily.
“Does Mom know that you’re here?”
“Yeah, she’s right there.”
Nickie looked up from his grandfather’s shoulder to see his mom standing there with tears in her eyes. Cora waved to Nickie before he looked beyond her and spotted another figure standing there. Rooster stayed back, knowing that Nickie didn’t exactly view him as a dad but more of some kind of random stranger that bumped into his life unexpectedly.
But after Nickie gave his mom a quick hug in greeting, Nickie turned to face Rooster on his own. Rooster stood a bit nervously as Nickie stopped a few paces away from him. He wasn’t sure what Nickie’s reaction was going to be to his presence. But after what seemed like a century passed, Nickie reached forward and gave Rooster a hug.
Rooster froze for a moment before hugging Nickie back even stronger, far too emotional to do anything else. It was the first time that he held his son. His kid. And his son willingly hugged him. Rooster couldn’t help but let a few tears out during the moment. And Nickie, for his part, didn’t seem to want to let Rooster go either.
Amelia was right, Nickie realized with some apprehension. He really would have beat himself up for the rest of his life if he didn’t talk to Rooster before he left on the mission. Not that it mattered now, because Rooster was here. And based on the way that Rooster was hugging him back, Nickie had a feeling that Rooster was around to stay.
Cora shared a smile with Maverick as they watched Nickie and Rooster embrace for the first time ever. Maverick squeezed his daughter’s shoulder as she dried her eyes again.
~~~~~
There was a cook out on the beach with the whole Dagger crew in a post-mission celebration. Penny pulled out a grill from somewhere in the Hard Deck and Maverick was nominated to do the grilling for the whole team, which he didn’t seem to mind in the slightest.
The rest of the Dagger Squad and their guests were spread out over the patch of sand, talking and chatting with each other and simply enjoying the San Diego sun. Cora stood to the side of the volleyball court a short walk from the grill, smiling to herself while she watched Nickie and Rooster work together to try and beat Harvard and Yale.
“Ms. Mitchell?” a voice called from her left, causing Cora to turn.
“Admiral Simpson,” she returned, straightening up subconsciously as Cyclone stood beside her.
“It has come to my attention that your son, Nickie, wants to become an aviator,” Cyclone began, causing Cora to pause for a moment.
“Yes, I believe that he does,” she replied quietly, fiddling with her necklace.
“Well, if he’s anything like his family members before him, he will one day make it to Top Gun.”
“That is his dream,” Cora echoed softly.
“Can you do me one favor, Ms. Mitchell?” Cyclone asked her after a moment.
“Sure,” Cora responded, turning to face Cyclone fully.
“Please inform me the second that your son gets his wings. So that I can immediately put in my retirement notice,” Cyclone emphasized, causing Cora to bite her cheek to not burst out laughing. She simply nodded instead, trying to hold it in. “Thank you.”
When Cyclone walked off, Cora let out a quiet laugh to herself. Shaking her head, she turned back to watch the volleyball game. But it seemed that between being Maverick’s daughter and the mother of Rooster’s secret love child, she was a popular person around the Dagger Squad.
“You must be the lovely Cora that we’ve heard so much about,” Hangman drawled, walking over to her.
“And you must be Hangman,” she returned, gazing at him curiously.
She didn’t get much of the details about the mission—considering it was top secret and all that—but the way that Maverick talked about Hangman led her to believe that something happened on the mission that fixed Maverick’s and even Rooster’s perspective on him.
But that grin that Hangman only told her one thing—he was trouble. Luckily, Cora was a Mitchell. She was natural at being trouble. It was in her genes.
“It’s a pleasure to finally meet you,” he stated, offering her a hand to shake.
“Likewise,” she returned, shaking his hand politely.
“You know, I have to say that you are far more beautiful than anyone described you as,” Hangman flirted, causing Cora to cock an eyebrow.
“How badly do you want Rooster to lose this game?” she asked, tilting her chin up a bit.
“About twenty bucks worth. Forty, actually,” Hangman replied, waving over to Coyote and Phoenix.
Phoenix shook her head in disbelief, probably waiting for Cora to knee Hangman in the balls, while Coyote seemed to be struggling to contain his laughter. Remaining poised, Cora turned back to Hangman as he continued with his explanation.
“That is, if Rooster comes and tries to rip my head off,” Hangman replied with a wink, causing Cora to smirk to herself.
“Oh, I wouldn’t worry about Rooster.”
“Your dad’s all the way—ow!”
The volleyball smacked right into the back of Hangman’s head, causing him to whirl around, rubbing his head. Nickie, who was originally wearing a look of death, immediately put on an innocent smile when Cora and Hangman turned to him and waved sarcastically.
Nickie, after all, was a mama’s boy. A mama’s boy who knew that men liked to lurk around his mom.
“Sorry!” Nickie called over.
“It slipped because of the sunscreen!” Rooster covered for Nickie, holding a thumbs up.
“Sure, it did,” Cora replied, shaking her head. Turning back to Hangman, she offered a smile. “I think that means that you only get twenty.”
“Great shot, Nickie!” Penny praised, clapping loudly for him.
“Any chance that you’d like a drink?” Hangman asked, trying to make just a little more money.
Up until Rooster hit the volleyball, which had rolled back to him after hitting Hangman in the head, into Hangman’s back, causing Hangman to roll his eyes. Rooster waved innocently, not unlike his son did moments before, as Cora shot him a look.
“Sunscreen again!”
~~~~~
Eventually, the teams broke for food. Cora sat on the beach chair that she brought along, chatting with Bob and Phoenix, when Rooster slowly approached her. Phoenix nudged Bob in the side and they both made lame excuses before heading off, leaving Cora and Rooster alone.
“Is this seat taken?” Rooster asked, gesturing to the seat next to her.
“It looks like it’s about to be,” Cora replied, nodding towards it.
Rooster sat down and the two of them shared a small smile for a moment. It was still a little awkward between them, and there was no way really around that, but it was getting better. It was getting more and more like old times. Bradley was reminding Cora more of the Bradley she knew before Carole died, and that in of itself made her so happy.
“They asked us if we had a preference for where we wanted to be stationed,” Rooster began, causing Cora to sober up a bit.
“And?”
“I talked to Cyclone about it. He couldn’t guarantee North Island, but he said that he would make sure that I was in California,” Rooster explained, causing Cora to smile and nod. “And I know that you have work and Nickie has school, but we could drive out to where we grew up and show Nickie all of that and . . . my parents and that sort of stuff.”
“I think that Nickie would really like that,” Cora agreed, smiling softly.
“And you? Would you like that?” Rooster asked quietly.
“I’d love that,” Cora stated, causing Rooster to grin.
“Really?”
“Yeah, I would,” Cora repeated, smiling over at Rooster, who beamed right back at her.
Maverick watched Rooster and Cora chat over by themselves, relived that the two of them were talking and seemed to be getting along again. Penny nudged him with her arm, causing Maverick to turn to her. She pointed over at the volleyball court, where Nickie was holding up the ball.
“Hey, Gramps! One more game?” Nickie asked, grinning mischievously.
“Easy game!” Fanboy heckled, causing Maverick to laugh and slowly get to his feet.
“Alright, one more game, Nickie,” Maverick replied, jogging over to his grandson. “But we can’t go easy on them, okay?”
“Wouldn’t dream of it,” Nickie agreed, smirking that iconic Mitchell smirk.
Some prompt ideas for you!
Nicky and Quynh as best friends, doing some ritual or activity together that they used to do before, again after she escapes from the sea and is healing
Andy as a baby immortal, doing some dumb dangerous shit. Maybe she's doing it to help someone and it's an external pov a la your "I have seen angels in my time" series?
Joe and Lucia after he and Nicky go back to find her. Maybe he's tentative about whether she'll understand or accept them being in love, they have a serious conversation, and then it turns into her telling him embarrassing baby/teenager Nicky Stories?
Absolutely love your writing and your Lucia stories are currently some of my absolute favorites ❤️
hellooooo i know you sent this forever ago but i have been thinking about family and Them lately so. this is set a couple years after the end of if i ask you to stay wherein nicky and joe have returned to stay with lucia for a bit ! it's not quite joe being nervous about whether she'll accept them or not (she largely already has) but it DOES turn into embarassing teenage nicky stories so i hope you enjoy
"Yusuf, come help me with this," Lucia says.
It's become something of a ritual, and so Yusuf is now comfortable joining her at the counter as she splits the dough into two parts and passes one to him. Outside, Nicolò is herding the goats towards the hills and having only partial success; one of the kids splits off from the herd and starts charging back towards the house, making Nicolò curse loudly enough that they can hear him faintly through the window. Lucia chuckles.
"I am glad he will have you, you know," she says. She tosses a handful of flour over the counter and begins to knead the dough. Yusuf follows suit. "After."
They don't talk about after often, even if all three of them know. For the most part, Yusuf tries not to think about it, and he knows Nicolò does the same, though it haunts every single thing they do, a constant shadow. There are still nights where Nicolò barely speaks, overcome by it.
"Did he ever tell you why our father sent him to seminary?" she continues.
"Enough," Yusuf says.
Lucia hums. She's quiet for a while. Outside, Nicolò resorts to picking up the wayward kid and carrying it with him while he herds the rest; it busies itself chewing on his sleeve.
"I only ever wanted him to be happy," she says. "When he left for the seminary I had hoped that it would bring him some kind of peace, even if it was not what he chose. But then he decided to go to Jerusalem, and, well. He never did tell me why. And I did not think about it beyond the fact that it was taking him away, and that I would likely never see him again. He has not told me many details about what happened to him - to you both - there, but I understand enough. But even despite all of it, I am glad he found you in the end."
"I am too," Yusuf says quietly.
"He was always so..." She waves one hand in the air as if searching for the right word, scattering a light cloud of flour that shimmers in the morning sun. "Uncertain. But he seems so much more settled, around you." She smiles at him, and Yusuf cannot do anything but smile back.
There is not much more to be said, after that. Nicolò has put the kid down, and now it bounces after him, dancing around him in circles and almost tripping him up at least three times. It makes him curse again, but he's smiling too much for it to be convincing. It makes Yusuf smile, too. They finish kneading the do
"He spent almost all his time with them when he came to visit," Lucia says, nodding towards the window. "The kids loved him. He would sit down and let them climb all over him. They used to chew on his hair."
Yusuf can imagine it clearly: fifteen-year-old Nicolò, still growing, letting five or six baby goats clamber all over him.
"There was this one doe, though, who hated him," she continues. "She would let anyone else near, but not him. She used to bite at his heels every time he came near. She chased him up a tree, once. I found him halfway up. He'd forgotten that goats climb trees, too."
Yusuf laughs out loud, and it's at that moment that the door swings open, and Nicolò's voice echoes through the house. "No, no, piccola," he's saying, "you have to stay outside."
When he comes into the kitchen, he's holding the kid, who has given up on chewing his sleeve and is now trying to reach his hair, refusing to be deterred even though he keeps pushing her away. He's so caught up in this task that he doesn't notice them both watching him straight away, and when he does pauses like he's been caught doing something he shouldn't. "What?" he asks, looking between them.
"Nothing," Lucia says before Yusuf can say anything. Nicolò looks between them again, before shaking his head and carrying the goat over to the table.
"New friend?" Yusuf asks him.
"She won't leave me alone," Nicolò says.
"Nicolò," Lucia says, "do you remember the name of that goat that chased you up the tree? I couldn't seem to recall."
Nicolò blinks, then sighs. "Tell me you didn't tell Yusuf that story."
"Not all of it," Yusuf says innocently.
Nicolò groans. Yusuf laughs, and so does Lucia.
The shadow is still there, yes. But even though he complains, for a moment Nicolò's shoulders seem more relaxed, and the sun seems just a little brighter.
A energy reading on
Megan Thee Stallion
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Megan's energy for 2024:
Tumblr media
Megan's energy is going to be very sensual, feminine, and confident for 2024. There is a transformation in her spirit and we are going to witness her enter a new chapter in her life. A snake concept has been a big theme for her music lately and I see her really embodying the nature of a serpent. She is "shedding" an older version of herself that was in pain and dealt with a lot of suffering. I'm getting strongly There are people who want to keep her there in that place. "Dark night of the soul". I geniunely believe people are praying on her downfall. It's very disturbing there are energy vampires surrounding her and she should definitely make sure to protect her peace. Megan is going to be the center of attention for sure. People won't stop talking about her, good or bad. There is a lot of jealousy and envy pointed towards her as well. Men hate on her because they know could never be with a woman like her and women wish they could be her. Megan is going to rebel from what the traditional roles that women take place in the industry. I heard "Nobody is gonna pimp me out! I ain't scared of nothing." Megan is going to open doors for female rappers to speak up about the mistreatment they have faced in the industry. Allowing for people to do what has never been done before. People are already exposing celebrities like Nicki Minaj for example for her malicious behavior. What's standing out to me is the "Queen" and "Goddess" card. There are female spirits watching over her. I believe this could be her ancestral family watching over her and guiding her through this journey. I also believe this could be a goddess Megan worships perhaps or is taking inspiration from. We might see a music video with this concept in particular. Alchemist? I believe she is manifesting something or doing spellwork. Megan is knowledgeable about spirituality and the occult more than we even know. This is not to imply that this is her religion but I remember when Judi from Bad Girls Club would say "I got the voodoo for you bitch!". So I believe how that pertains to Megan is that she knows she is divinely protected and regardless what people do/say to her she knows her faith, spirit guides, and ancestors will protect her from harm.
What's going to happen in Megan's career:
Tumblr media
Megan is going to be coming to terms with her past trauma and releasing any feelings of grief, shame, and misfortune. Megan could of had thoughts where she felt her loved ones passing was her fault and that she should have done more for them. I'm hearing like "No this wasn't your fault, you did your best". So perhaps she went to therapy, she consoled herself, or had a love one to be by her side during this trouble. Whatever the case may be, the conversations provided her with great clarity. I also believe she went through a period of isolation and reflection to think about what she should do next. (Channeled song: Should I Stay or Should I Go by The Clash) Megan could have contemplated if she should leave the entertainment industry entirely or continue to live her dreams. "Is this really worth my peace of mind?" I am hearing a older woman's voice and she is saying "Girrrl, I know I taught you to keep your head up and not let anyone take your place. If they keep picking on you, you have to be strong and fight back." I feel like this is the words her grandmother would tell her growing up. Her grandmother is persistent on her to keep fighting for her dreams and not to let anyone treat her like a punk. "Y'all better stop messing with my grandbaby". I believe Megan is having this mindset of "If you do good unto others, good things will happen to you". So she is focusing on loving herself and being helpful, kind towards other people. Maybe even helping musicians who are not as famous in the industry and giving them a platform. She is wishing to spread joy and her positive energy. This year Megan will be very abundant in her career and I can see a lot of her desires coming into fruition. There is many accomplishments she will be rewarded for and goals that would be achieved.
Natalie van Blankenburg was born during the 22-23 season and it was the best thing that has ever happened to you and Nicky. She was the cutest little baby, smiley just like her father and calm like you. Everyone who visited her instantly fell in love with the tiny giggly girl with big brown eyes. Both your families were crazy for her and so were Nick's current and former teammates.
As expected, she was daddy's princess and Nicky – and you too, of course – would do anything for her.
1. When Nat spoke for the first time (9 months)
Natalie has always been a smart baby, to the happiness of her parents. At 9 months, she already sat by herself and liked to eat with her own little hands.
It hurt Nick to have to go to away games and leave his little girl’s side but he had to. They always did facetime calls, where Nat smiled the whole time seeing her favorite person and Nick did all kinds of things to make her keep laughing.
One day, after a specially long trip, Nat was sleeping with the teddy bear Nick gave her and was crying out of nowhere, probably missing her dad. However, the little one didn’t know her dad was on his way home.
When he arrived, she was asleep and it was the cutest scene, his little girl sleeping and hugging a teddy bear.
“We did a really good job, huh?” Nick said, a smile on his face.
“Definitely, she’s so special.”
“And beautiful just like you.”
You smiled and put your arms around him. “Don’t be silly, love.”
He only laughed very low and you kept looking at your daughter. When she woke up, the first thing she saw was Nick and you’ve never seen her happier, her little screams full of joy.
When it was time for her bath, of course it was Nicky giving it. Natalie loved to play with her toys and she was doing exactly that when she directed her big brown eyes to Nick and started staring and smiling at him.
“What happened, sweetheart?” Nicholas asked, smiley face. “Yes, it’s your dad, baby.”
She laughed and, out of nowhere, said “Dada.”
Nick’s eyes were wide open in surprise and he was shocked. “Hey babe, come here,” he shouted.
It didn’t take long for you to get to the bathroom, scared. “What happened?”
Nick was excited like a child and said to the baby “Go Nat, say that again. Dad.”
Natalie only laughed but managed to say “Dada.”
You smiled, feeling your heart twice his size and kissed Nick’s lips. You knew how much it meant to him and was so happy.
“I love how we carry them for 9 months for their first word to be ‘dad’,” you joked.
“Nah, it’s because she’s daddy’s little girl,” Nick said, his voice full of proudness.
You laughed and hugged him.
2. When she had a nightmare (2 years)
Nicholas suddenly woke up scared after hearing a low scream. He looked at you but you were still blacked out after having a very tiring day. Then he heard it again and it was coming from Natalie's bedroom. Quickly standing up, he ran to open your bedroom's door and then opened Nat's door, which happened to be in front of yours.
With just the bedside lamp on, Nick could see her little face soaked by tears and her unsteady breathing. He looked the whole bedroom to see if someone was there but couldn't find anything out of its place. Then, he sat on your daughter's bed and tried to wake her up delicately but as soon as his hand touched her head, she gasped in fear, sitting on the bed.
"Don't worry baby, it's just daddy," he said, in a soothing tone.
"Daddy I had a nightmare and I- I," she couldn't finish her sentence, throwing herself into her dad's open arms, her cry intensifying.
"That's ok, I'm here now and nothing bad will happen to you, I promise," he said, kissing her head and adjusting her in his arms. His heart was broken by seeing his little girl so scared.
"You want to talk about your nightmare?"
She just shook her head, still crying and Nicky nodded. They stood like that for long minutes, rubbing her back soothingly and singing her favorite music from Frozen until Natalie's cry faded and she was just sniffling, her little arms involving Nick's neck.
"Do you want to go back to sleep now, my love?"
"No."
"And what about watching cartoons?"
"Please, daddy."
"Let's go to the living room, we don't want to wake mommy up, right?" she just nodded, rubbing her eyes with the back of her hand.
Nick adjusted her messy hair and kissed the top of her head with affection. Taking her little hand on his, he walked to the living room, where they comfortably sat on the sofa and they watched cartoons until Nat was asleep again and Nick could take her to her room again.
3. When she wanted a puppy (3 years)
Natalie has always wanted a puppy in secret. Silly her, because you and Nick would giver her one as soon as she opened her little mouth.
One day, at school, she drew her family in front of their house and a puppy close to them so she could see if it would work.
At home, later, she was telling you and Nicky about her day and then proceeded to show the drawing.
“That’s beautiful, princess,” you said.
“Whose puppy's that?”
“Ours!” she said, excited.
“Oh really?” Nick asked, glancing at you.
“Yes and his name is Woody, short for Woodruff just like uncle Mark!”
“He’s gonna love it,” you laughed.
“Do you want a puppy, Nat?”
“Yes, please.”
“Mommy, can we have a puppy?” Nick asked.
You pretended to think a little and finally said “Yes, we can.”
Nat started screaming in happiness and jumping on the living room while you and Nick just laughed together.
“Can we have a puppy now?” she asked.
“Just tomorrow, princess,” Nick replied.
She pouted but agreed and went to bed so ‘tomorrow comes earlier’.
You and Nick had already discussed adopting a dog for Natalie and the time finally has come. On the next day, a surprising saturday off for Nick, the three of you went to the dog shelter, Nat with her drawing in hand.
She was absolutely excited and looked at every dog there until she found the one. It was a shy dog that was away from others and, in Nat’s head, it was the perfect little buddy.
“Daddy, that’s Woody,” she said, pointing at the dog.
It was a fluffy golden retriever, small and cute.
“Oh, is it?”
“Yes!”
After all the procedures, you and the newest family member went back home and Natalie didn’t want to let Woody go, as if he would. There, a new friendship for life was born.
4. When all of you dressed as Harry Potter's characters for Halloween (4 years)
When Natalie was 4, Nick managed to get her addicted to Harry Potter movies and he read the books to her every chance he got. It was their thing, so it wasn’t surprising when she asked if they could get dressed as Harry Potter’s characters for halloween.
You were eating dinner together when she asked.
“Can we dress up as Harry Potter for halloween?”
Nick smiled and looked at you. “Of course we can, little miss.”
“Who would you want to be, Nat?” you asked.
“Luna!”
“So Luna you are,” Nick stated.
“Can we put a costume on Woody too?”
You laughed and just said “Yes.”
The team would host a party with kids allowed so it was their chance to dress up. Nat wanted to go as Luna, her favorite character, while Nick was Harry, of course, because of his glasses. You were Hermione, your favorite, and it was funny going on a search party for the costumes with Nat.
At the party, the children were the center of attention and Nick heard a lot of jokes about him being Harry. The fans loved the costumes and Nat was very happy knowing this was her idea. She even showed her friends at school the polaroid you got.
+ When William was born (5 years)
When Natalie turned 5, you discovered a pregnancy. You and Nick were over the moon with happiness but you were worried with Nat’s reaction.
After nearly 4 months, when your belly started showing, you decided it was time to tell her.
“Nat, mommy and daddy have something to say,” Nick started.
Her attentive brown eyes were focused on you in front of her.
“You remember how we said our love was so big you were born?” you continued.
She nodded and said “Yes.”
“So, our love has grown and,” you stopped and looked at Nicky, that gave you a loving and supportive smile. “And we are having another baby, you will have a baby brother.”
Nat was silent for some time and you started getting nervous. When she finally said something, you released the air you didn’t know was holding.
“Will he play with me like the kids at school?”
“Absolutely, once he gets older,” Nick said, smiling.
“And he’ll play with Woody too,” she continued, more excited. “Can he be here tomorrow?”
Nick laughed and caressed her hair. “No, princess, we’ll have to wait a few months.”
“How much?”
“5 months and he’ll be here.”
And that was what happened. After 5 months, William was finally born and you, Nick and your families were extremely happy with the new baby.
But Natalie was the most excited among all of them to meet the newest family member. When it was her turn to meet him, Nick helped her wash her hands and she sat on the sofa to hold him.
When Nick handed the baby to her, still half holding him, she saw her little eyes watering, his heart skipping a beat as he saw his two kids meeting for the first time. You, laying on the bed, were already crying.
“Hi baby,” Nat whispered, excited. “I’m your sister, Natalie is my name.”
You were smiling and ugly crying at the same time and so was Nick.
“We’ll be best friends and play a lot with mommy, daddy and Woody, you’ll love everything,” she continued.
Nat kept whispering to him and at some point, she kissed his little head and he made some baby-ish noises, making her laugh.
“Look daddy, I think he liked!”
“He definitely did, princess.”
And in that moment, you could swear you’ve never felt happier in your whole life.
Nicky and his parent's have a stilted conversation.
"So what are you studying, Nicholas?" Some small part of Neil had assumed Nicky was exaggerating how estranged his family was, but Nicky was in his sophomore year and his parents still didn't know what he was majoring in. "Marketing," Nicky said. "Erik's cousin works for a PR firm in Stuttgart. She thinks she can get me in after graduation if I make the right grades." "You're going back to Germany?" Maria shot her husband a startled look. Nicky's jaw tightened, but he looked his mother in the eye when he said, "Yes. Erik's career is there. I wouldn't ask him to leave it just for me, and I wouldn't want him to, anyway. I loved living in Germany. It's an amazing place. You should visit us sometime." "Us," Maria said faintly. "You're still..." She couldn't finish, so Nicky said, "Yes, we're still together. I came back to take care of Andrew and Aaron, not because things went sour with Erik. I love him, okay? I always have and I always will. When are you going to get that?" "When will you accept that it is wrong?" Luther asked. "Homosexuality is —" "Luther," Andrew said. That was all he said, but Luther sent him a wary glance. "I love him," Nicky insisted. "Doesn't that mean anything to you? Why can't you be happy for us? Why can't you give him a chance?" "We cannot condone sin," Maria said. "You don't have to love the sin," Nicky said, "but you're supposed to forgive and love the sinner. Isn't that what faith is about?" "Faith is following our Lord's creed," Luther said. "But I can't be that black and white," Nicky said piteously. "I won't. Why did you call us down here if we're just going to have the same old fight again?" Luther was unmoved by Nicky's heartbreak and said calmly, "Things have come to light recently that made us question our current situation. We have committed to repairing this family," he glanced at Maria, who nodded in happy encouragement, "but we understand it will be a long, uphill path. We brought you down here so we could decide on the first steps together." "Enlighten us," Andrew said, leaning forward over his plate like he couldn't wait for the answer. "If the first step isn't tolerance, where does a pair of bigots begin in fixing a mess like this?" Luther met Andrew's stare with a calm one of his own. "With reparations for past mistakes. That is why you are here." "Oh, no," Andrew said. "I am only here because Neil whined at me until I agreed to come along. Leave me out of this." Luther frowned. Across the table from him, Maria held up a calming hand and said, "Let's eat. This kind of conversation is too difficult on an empty stomach. We'll eat and try again, and then reward our efforts with dessert. There is pie in the oven. Apple, Nicholas. It used to be your favorite."
Any kind of Nico angst is my jam! Didn't we say a while back that Nico had been using a fake surname after he ran away, but that he used his real one on the wedding certificate? And toto never commented on it, so Nico thought that he got away with it, but Toto did see and just quietly filed it away for later?
What if Toto has been quietly looking into Nico's family and found out about Keke, and Nico accidentally finds the research one day? He would be completely shocked because he had no idea that Toto even knew his real name, let alone that he was looking into him. And now Toto knows things that Nico has deliberately not shared with him, things that he's still ashamed of, and all of that information about Nico's past, which Toto has always said he was fine not knowing about, is just lying in one of his desk drawers.
And of course it becomes a huge argument between them, the first serious one in their whole relationship. Nico accuses Toto of going behind his back, and Toto tells Nico that he's being ridiculous, because he's the one who lied in the first place. And when the topic turns to Keke it gets even worse. Toto's research is thorough and it seems like Keke was a good dad, so he doesn't understand why Nico doesn't want to reach out, but Nico just wants Toto to stop and let him leave his past behind.
They both say things that they don't mean, and it becomes too much for Nico. He feels like he can't breathe and just needs to get out of the house, away from Toto for a while. He packs his bag and gets in the car, driving to Kimi's without really thinking about it. Toto wants to chase after him but can't because of the pups.
Seb heard the argument and saw Nico storm out, and is just meowing softly, not understanding where momma has gone or why he's gone, and why both momma and papa smelt so upset. Nicky is even more tense, waking up from a nap to find momma gone and the whole house smelling like his fear and anger.
Pllss Nico still not having told Toto his actual maiden name because he wasn't ready, and it doesn't matter, he is a wolff now and wants no contact with his family! Toto noticed the name though, ofcourse he did, but he doesn't comment, won't say anything until Nico is ready to tell him about it.
Toto just does his research so he will know where keke is if Nico wants to see him again but doesn't contact Keke yet. Nico finding the research and he is so shocked! He can't velieve Toto knows all or this and he feels so on edge because he isn't ready to talk about his past yet.
Nico blowing up at Toto about it saying how could toto look into him like that and find his father and Toto snaps back that Nico is the one not even giving his real name when they are married! And then Toto says Keke seems nice and he does t understand why Nico won't go and see him and its judt too much for Nico. They both say mean things thst they don't mean anf it blows up so much until Nico grabs his bag and storms out, leaving Toto in the kitchen.
Seb having been playing in the living room and having sat cov3ring his ears with his hands in fright and is now meowing softly at the door and Toto, not understanding where momma went! He anxiously goes to papa and asks for uppies but even papa hugging him doesn't help because papa smells so upset...
Then little mousy comes toddling in with his blankie still around him snd his ears floppy cos he is sleepy and hr is trembling cos everyone smells upset and he doesn't see momma! Mousy hiding under the sofa because he is so confused 🥺🥺🥺
Evil Bunny Rabbits Don't Stand A Chance Against An Angry Father: A Hello Neighbor Fanfic
By JJ
Summary: Basically what it says on the (too long) title.
P.S., this fanfic goes to @rumbleonthemill for one of their posts about a Fnaf and Hello Neighbor crossover.
It was a beautiful, bright and sunny day, and the Peterson family were at Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria. It was Mya's birthday today, and they decided to spend it somewhere fun.
Well, for Mya, it was fun. But for Aaron and Nicky, it was all little kid stuff.
"This place sucks.", said Aaron as he slid down on his chair.
"I know right? I've played all the games here, I've tried every pizza they've had, and even the ball pit got boring."
It's not that they were trying to ruin the fun, after all, it was Mya's birthday, they've just been here so many times that they got bored of this place. And if they were being totally honest, the only thing they still liked about this place was the creepy singing animatronics.
"Mya's too scared to go near those things.", said Aaron.
"Meh, I wouldn't blame her. Those things are creepy as fuck.", replied Nicky.
"Language, Nicky.", the two boys jumped up in their seats when they heard the voice of Diane Peterson come from behind them.
"Sorry, Mrs. P."
"I'll let it slide this time.", she said. "Come on now, boys. At least try to have fun."
"Fun? Mom, the only thing fun about this place is the animatronics, that are probably alive."
Diane furrowed her eyebrows in confusion. "Alive? Where on Earth did you hear that story?"
"From a couple of kids at school.", Aaron turned to look at Nicky, impressed by how scared this made him. He leaned in closer to his friend, "They say that the animatronics know where you live. They come to your house, and you have to stay up until 6:00 in the morning, then they go away. And it just continues on and on for five nights."
Nicky was visibly shaking, and that's when Diane stepped in.
"Aaron, stop it! You're scaring him. And second, you don't really believe those childish stories, do you?", she asked.
"Kind of. There used to be a kid in my class who went through that kind of stuff. I forgot his name. Ethan? Eric? Edward?", Aaron tapped his chin for a minute before he finally got it. "Evan! Yeah, it was Evan."
Diane still didn't look convinced. "Look, boys. We won't be leaving until after we cut Mya's birthday cake. Which isn't for another couple of hours now. So I suggest you kids find some way to pass the time instead of just sitting here and complaining about how boring this place is.", she said before she left.
Aaron rolled his eyes and turned to look at Nicky. "I hate to admit it, Aaron, but she's right. I don't want to sit here waiting for Mya's cake to come in for hours, so I guess we're going to have to occupy ourselves with some old video games and pizza.", said Nicky.
Aaron got up and dusted himself off, "Fine."
Almost an hour passed before that conversation. And the boys were taking turns playing the arcade game Freddy's Galactic Adventure. Aaron had lost twice, and kept insisting that he was going to get this right.
"Dude, come on. Give up already."
"No!"
Then Aaron had lost again. Aaron hit the controller and stepped aside. "I forgot how frustrating this game could be.", he growled.
"Let me try. I think I could beat the game.", said Nicky. Aaron decided to let Nicky have a turn, and if Nicky couldn't do better than he did, then no one could.
Nicky firmly gripped the controls and kept his eyes on the screen. When evil aliens began attacking him, he immediately started firing at lightning speed. His knuckles started turning white with his firm grip, and his eyes were starting to strain, but he wasn't going to let that stop him. He let go of the controls and rubbed his eyes when the screen flashed white, and the game started saying "Winner! Winner!"
Aaron was absolutely shocked. "No freaking way, man.", he said.
"Yes freaking way, man. I just beat an old baby game, and on the first try too!", Nicky excitedly said. Puffing his chest out in confidence and cockiness.
Aaron rolled his eyes at his friend's cockiness. "Whatever, Nicky. Look, I'm going to go find Mya, you gonna be okay by yourself?"
"Of course I'll be okay."
"Great.", and Aaron left.
Nicky was still bragging to himself about the fact that he beat a game that not even a grown ass adult could beat. Whoever made this game, he'd like to meet him and tell him that this game is too easy. He was snapped out of his thoughts when he heard a voice behind him.
"Ha. Wow."
Nicky turned around to see a yellow rabbit. Eyes wide, almost as wide as his smile. He recognized this rabbit. It was Springbonnie, from Fredbear's Diner, that place that had to close down because some teenagers pushed a kids head into Fredbear's mouth.
"Springbonnie?"
"Yep. That's me.", said the rabbit. "I see you've beaten the hardest game here, and you got the high score."
"Yeah, I did do that."
Springbonnie gave Nicky a low chuckle, and patted his head. "You're a natural, superstar.", he said. "In fact, I think you deserve a little reward.", he said.
Nicky's eyes lit up in excitement. "Well, sure! That sounds like fun."
From Nicky's perspective, it was almost as if the rabbit smiled wider. "Then follow me and we'll go get your reward."
"Follow you?", Nicky was confused. "Where are we going? I know we're getting my reward, but I just want to know where it is."
Springbonnie bent over and spoke to Nicky in a condescending voice. "It's in the backroom. It's a very special reward."
Nicky knew better than to follow strangers, but he really wanted that reward. "Okay, I guess.", he said. And he started following Springbonnie.
Just then, as Nicky left, Aaron came back with Mya. "Nicky! Aaron wanted to know if you wanted to come play in the ball pit with us!", said Mya. But she stopped short when she didn't see Nicky anywhere. "Aaron, where's Nicky?"
"I thought he was right here.", said Aaron.
"What's going on here?", a voice asked from behind them.
They turned around to see their father, Theodore Peterson. "Daddy, we were just about to play in the ball pit, and we wanted to know if Nicky wanted to come play with us, but we can't find him.
"Mya, calm down, sweetheart. He probably just went to the bathroom or something. We'll wait for a little while, and if he's not back by then, we'll start looking for him."
Aaron and Mya nodded, but neither of them were any less worried.
Meanwhile, Nicky had been taken to the backroom of the pizzeria. He was with Springbonnie, looking for this reward.
Springbonnie growled and threw his hands in the air.
"What's the matter?", asked Nicky.
Springbonnie turned back to Nicky and gave him a big smile. "Nothing, kid. Just left your reward in my other pants. Do you mind staying here while I go get it?"
Nicky nodded.
"You're the best, superstar.", was the last thing Springbonnie said before he left.
Nicky decided to look around a bit, just until Springbonnie came back with his reward. He stumbled upon an old Freddy Fazbear suit, all rusty and smelly. Why was it so smelly? He took the head off the body to inspect it closer, and he was not ready for what he saw next.
He saw the body of a little boy. His eyes were blank, and blood was dripping from his mouth.
Nicky jumped up in fear. Why the hell was there a dead body in one of the suits?! Wait...
If there was a dead body in this suit, did that mean there were more dead bodies in the other suits? Is that how the animatronics are capable of coming to life at night?
Suddenly, the door knob started jiggling, and he knew Springbonnie was back. He didn't want to die. He didn't want to be stuffed into a suit. So he started looking for a place to escape. He sighed in relief when he saw a vent, so he pulled it open and climbed inside.
Springbonnie finally managed to open the door, a knife behind his back. "Alright, superstar -", he stopped dead in his tracks when he noticed the dead body without the head to cover it.
"Oh shit.", he growled.
Nicky found his way to the backstage, his heart pounding in his chest. He couldn't believe he was about to get murdered by a yellow bunny rabbit. He wanted to get out of here right now. His heart nearly jumped out of his chest when he heard that same voice behind him.
"There you are, superstar!"
"Get away from me!', he screamed and ran away. But as he ran, he bumped into a wall. Great. Now he was cornered.
"Now now, kiddo. I swear, I don't know how that body got there."
"Yeah, like I fucking believe that!", Nicky screamed, trying to hide the fact that he was scared out of his mind.
Springbonnie growled. But then he had an idea. "Y'know, your friends are looking for you.", he said.
Nicky's eyes widened. How did this yellow bunny know he had friends?
"Everyone's so very worried. They want to go home, they want to take you back home. I will take you to them."
Nicky hesitated for a moment.
"Don't you want to go home?"
Nicky nodded. "Yes, I do.", he said, his voice shaking.
Springbonnie held out a hand. "Hey, kid. No worries. Just take my hand and I will take you to your friends.", he said. Nicky just stared back at him in fear.
"Do you trust me?", he asked.
Just then, Springbonnie felt a big, firm, gloved hand wrap around his throat, and pull him away behind the curtains.
"Hey! What the-?! Wait! Hey! Ah! Damn it! NO! NOT MY NECK! SHIT! AAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!!!"
Nicky covered his ears, trying to drown out Springbonnie screaming and begging for mercy. When he didn't hear screaming anymore, he uncovered his ears and turned to where Springbonnie was dragged. The first person who came back from behind the curtains was Mr. Peterson, a worried expression on his face.
"Did he hurt you, Nicky?"
"No, he didn't."
Theodore put a hand on Nicky's shoulder, guiding him away from the stage. "Come on, Nicky. I'll drive us all to McDonald's instead.", he said.
"What happened to the bunny?", asked Nicky.
"The bunny got tired and went to take a nap.", Mr. Peterson said with as much nonchalance as he could muster up.
The last thing that happened backstage was Springbonnie falling over, his hand stretched out and not moving.
Leverage Mark Showdown -- Second Heat Contestants
Where the nominator left comments (or fun extra descriptors), I'm including their comments, cause those are way better than what I'd come up with. Where they didn't leave comments, you'll have to settle for mine :P
Jack Lattimer The Radio Job, The Last Dam Job (also sort of most of Season 4) Hes a background guy, just barley staying relevant but also managing to be a pain in the ass to Nate and the crew, but he's not as much of a threat as Damien Moreau, but still stays in the background disrupting htings and giving the crew a hard time purely beciase he wasts a few extra bucks. Hes a bad gys that feels realistic an investor who found a way to cheat the system to benefit himself.
Jimmaaay Jimmy Jimmy Ford The Three Card Monte Job go grandpa
Dr. Anne Hannity The Inside Job That cocky/confident shit is hot... Except for the part where she manufactures a famine. But every time she thought she had a trump card she was sexy af
Dalton Rand The Future Job he's the worst kind of loathsome esp bc he's the most directly confronted with the harm he's doing and is totally blase about it
Nicky & Heather Moscone The Wedding Job They're both great caricatures and I like that they double cross each other.
Alan Foss The Two-Horse Job He’s one of the most well-sold “cartoonishly evil immature dickbag“ characters  we encounter. I love his arrogance, his uber-hateable sexism, and the over the top reactions he makes are so much fun to watch him get angry about. Damien Moreau, "IF WE MUST" The Big Bang Job, The San Lorenzo Job - specifically for the bathrobe and flipflops and being carefully staged to not look like everyone around him is normal human size, bless him - silly charming terrifying bastard man. can't believe this hasn't been done yet.
Retzing & Sons The Snow Job Dysfunctional crime family getting synergistically worse the more they try to deal with each other. Also I get excited every time I see my boy Jonathan from Buffy
Meredith The Lonely Hearts Job Man, she actually almost did our heroes in, didn't she? I love her grudging respect for Sophie, like she is genuinely into the art of grifting and willing to acknowledge being bested
James Kanack The First Contact Job He could have just been another rich and successful asshole. But no, that wasn't enough for him. HE HAD TO TALK TO ALIENS.
Mitchell Kirkwood The Studio Job Dude was a charming psycho, I'd let him murder me for my songs 😍 Plus watching his face break was 😚 Divine 😚
Hugh Whitman The Gone Fishin' Job Yeah, you know, let's do some regular debt collection fraud and also fund an entire militia out in the woods behind the bank, that seems normal, right?
Larry Duberman The Reunion Job what if there was a nerd who had sometbing sooooooooo wrong with them. also his actor was in big eden i got really excited when i recognized him
Wendy Baran The Gimme a K Street Job - okay I cave, you got me with this one. You're gonna have to send some propaganda, cause the nominator didn't say anything and i literally remember nothing about this character except she thinks breaking teenage girls' necks is a fun way to make money - Update! The nominator says: - Okay I said Baran bc I hate her so very much -  And she’s a girlboss (derogatory)
Andrew Grant The Miracle Job Love the energy, love the way he threw a wrench in their plans by being even more of a sleazy money grubber than they expected (and more creative about it!), and yeah, he's another one that I actually feel kinda bad for cause playing on his anxiety was LOW.
Irina Larenko The Stork Job She was such a ditzy cunt, I hated her but I loved watching her on screen. Kinda cute in a way idk plus her main muscle was kinda unfff
How did your Cobra Kai/Karate Kid OCs come to be?
So, the first was Nicky Connors and she came about the same way most of my OCs came about - to give one of my favourite characters a friend, with the added layer of 'what if Johnny had a friend outside of karate who tried to help him but wasn't able to' and I was drawn to this concept as it developed into 'what if Johnny had a friend outside of Cobra Kai who still wanted to learn karate but wasn't allowed in Cobra Kai itself because John Kreese is an asshole' and I really loved this idea, and the OC herself as she grew, of how she sees Johnny and the rest of the Cobras as friends, as people who are just being led down a very bad path and yet being unable to really stop that because she's only one person, and sometimes one person isn't enough to help...only for it to turn out that she does have some influences (and later, her friendships with all of them get repaired after they make amends.)
As for her adopted son James in the CK era, I'd already decided that Nicky couldn't have biological kids, but wasn't bothered by this in the slightest and was happy to adopt - she was going to have a whole bunch of kids to start with, but honestly I think just the one is fine.
Now, the Barnes family started out as side characters in my first Mike fic, trying to settle (the ghosts of my past). I wrote this around three months before S5 came out and by this point I'd given up on watching past S4's mid-point because the whole thing was so bad, but I'd heard rumours that Mike would be returning in S5 and would likely join Cobra Kai and that pissed me off because of all the antagonists he has the least stakes in the situation - like he didn't know and probably wouldn't care about the history, he was literally paid to be there and sure, he lost out on the big payday but like. That was ultimately down to Kreese and Silver for making it complicated instead of just reopening CK anyway.
So then I thought 'what if Mike went and had a normal life with a family and had no interest in being dragged into another insane revenge plot', so that's what happened, and what I wrote of Leah and Elaine and Alex I liked (especially Elaine and her plan to set fire to the CK merchandise that was sent, like the chaotic streak was there already). Elaine herself became more established after S5 came out - I didn't watch it, but I was delighted to find out my prediction about Mike was correct, like he did go on to have a normal life! And he was still in the Valley so his family would be too, and I was always annoyed by the Sam-Tory fight so I thought 'what if someone stopped it' followed by 'what if that someone was Elaine' and hey presto, a fic was born! And I also gave more details about her older sister Sarah because I hadn't mentioned her yet. Leah became more developed after I took what canon gave us - co-owner of the furniture store, which she'd inherited from her father who had also been Mike's boss back in the day.
Gemma is an interesting one - because she initially started out as Johnny's daughter from a previous relationship, Robby's older sister, though the jury was out on whether Johnny knew about her or not. This version of her I had for at least a few months, but it didn't go ahead because:
When it comes to creating legacy OCs, especially children, I have to have some kind of connection to the canon character in question, some element of 'they'd be a good dad' and I just wasn't getting that with Johnny
I also didn't see how I could make this story fresh - Johnny's already abandoned one kid, do we really need to see that rehashed?
Then when I was writing my Cobra Kai Mini Rewrites I realised I was much more invested in having him repair his relationship with his actual, canon kid - but I wasn't going to give up on the OC after how much work I'd put into it, so I thought ' what if she was his cousin', which soon sparked off a whole thing about Laura's family because we know very little, but my headcanon was always that she was kicked out at 18 after falling pregnant with Johnny and I thought 'what if she had a much younger sister who came looking for her decades later and had a kid' because I love tragic family dynamics, but also I just found the idea of Johnny having an aunt who could be his sister and a cousin who could be his niece, because the age thing makes it a bit strange for him.
Also I liked the idea of having the running joke of 'I know she looks like my kid but she's not my kid' with most people Gemma runs into assuming this because they look very similar - and sometimes she'll play up to this solely to troll Johnny because it's very funny to do so.
FOR WANT OF A NAIL
@baldwin-montclair @adowobsessed @sylverdeclermont @nicki-mac-me @thereadersmuse @kynthiamoon @wheresthesunshinesblog @adowbaldwin @beautifulsoulsublime @lady-lazarus-declermont @adarafaelbarba @dogblessyoutascha
Part Fourty
Summary:  Baldwin Montclair had a string of ex girlfriends, a single child, and a  lifetime longer than most people could dream of to make all kinds of  mistakes. His family knew one which kept coming out of the woodwork to  irritate him every other century.
Also on AO3
They had been racing each other through the forest to see who could reach Sept Tours first. Try as he might to push his horse forward, Baldwin hadn't been able to outpace Martin since they started, which was why Martin saw the strange display in front of them first.
Martin burst out laughing, then called back over his shoulder to Baldwin as he caught up.
'Are we expected to dine in the grounds?'
'What?' Baldwin peered past him, confused, then stared.
Every single piece of furniture that the De Clermonts owned appeared to be scattered across the grass.
Astrolabes and books, scrolls and clocks and linen, cutlery and paintings and the paraphernalia of over a thousand years of life perched on or in the desks, chairs and tables. In the center stood Marthe; from where they were they could hear her muttering curses under her breath and loudly directing the servants on where to put everything.
'Smells of damp' Martin said, sniffing the air. There was a definite tang of mould; some of the furniture had been placed to one side, and a handful of kitchen boys were enthusiastically attacking the pile with axes.
They rode up and dismounted, leaving the horses tied to a boudoir to graze as they wound their way through the labyrinthine mess until they reached Marthe.
'What has happened here?' asked Baldwin.
'Matthew happened.' Marthe paused, then sighed and gestured helpelessly around her. 'He set up a new rain-catching system on the roof of the armoury and..'
'How unfortunate.'
'How far did the damage spread?' asked Martin, as Baldwin began happily snooping through everyone else's belongings.
'Only the armoury and the central tower, thank the gods.' Marthe nodded at Martin. 'A bed in the northeastern tower has been set up for you, and your usual rooms have been prepared for you as well, Lucius.'
'Thank you' said Martin. Baldwin looked up and nodded gratefully.
'Thank you Marthe.'
________________________________________________________________
Philippe and Ysabeau had cycled through the five stages of grief very quickly, so by evening they were laughing at their youngest son's lesson in failure. Marthe was still frosty, but Matthew had promised to help with the clean up which had gone a long way to thawing her temper.
'But what went wrong exactly?' Baldwin asked, while they ate dinner.
'I do not know.' Matthew shrugged.
'Perhaps it was the pipes.' Martin offered.
'Perhaps. There was nothing wrong with the receptacle when we tested it.'
Verin, who happened to have been available to join them for the night, pointed her knife at her brother. 'Fix your pipes Matthew!'
'Yes Matthieu, fix your pipes.' chortled Philippe.
Matthew's mouth twitched in a premonitory smirk. 'There's nothing wrong with my pipes.'
The table dissolved into giggles.
Author's Notes
Baldwin's just happy it's not his stuff that's been destroyed.
Toilet humour makes the world go round 😅
I get why people are sceptical about the “Drive it out” video - this kind of thing should have been done long ago and they should provide more details on what the plans are to tackle this problem. I do think we need to give it chance though to see what they actually do.
However. I am seeing a lot of finger pointing at other drivers fanbases for being the main problem and I just wanna say… it literally not down to just one driver fanbase, it’s basically ALL OF THEM.
No driver fanbase is without toxic and disgusting fans lbr-
• a popular Charles fan page on here said Carlos needed to kill himself and had consistently made derogatory comments to him. I have now blocked them so I dunno if they are still doing it but there was definitely a severe lack of people calling them out at the time. Seemed to be one Carlos fan did and that’s when people said something.
•merc fans sent death threats to Nicky after Abu Dhabi - and I’m saying merc fans because that’s what I saw and tbh no other team fans really had a reason.. unless they just hated max so maybe I should say mostly merc fans.
•there has been racist abuse towards any driver who is not white from multiple fanbases - pretty sure I remember Alex’s family having to be told not to look at comments on any socials because people were saying they eat cats amongst other things, and the amount of people who were awful to Zhou when he was announced by Alfa Romeo was insane. Can’t mention racist abuse without mentioning Lewis - the fact there are people who think it’s okay to call him slurs is vile. I get people don’t like have to like him, but the fact some peoples first insult to him is racist will never make sense and shows more about that person than Lewis. I do see this more on twitter tbh.
•people constantly wishing drivers to crash… even after Silverstone this year! Wtf is wrong with those people?! Drivers have died - most drivers on the grid know someone who has died from this in their career. I usually only see other drivers fans call out people who say that. Fans of the same driver seem to be quiet most of the time.
•Lando fans vs Daniel fans on the regular and they get really nasty. I’m fed up of the war going on between them.
•Lewis fans vs max fans CONSTANTLY at it when at least those drivers can show respect towards one another. They might not be friends but they seem way more mature than some of their fanbases. I know there are respectful fans on both sides and I actually interact with some (lbr, their teams are the ones typically in the media making little comments anyway) - but there are definitely those who act like either driver murdered that persons entire family and is the reason for every war ever to happen. Like my god, some people need to touch grass.
•Carlos vs Charles fans - so many people were mad about Silverstone for Charles… but the truth ferrari fucked up and that doesn’t mean Carlos didn’t deserve a win. Vice versa - I’ve seen some Carlos fans hating on Charles when something happens that affects his race.
There are so many more examples but I’d literally be constantly listing so I’ve put the ones I’ve seen most and some examples that have just stood out to me.
Instead of pointing the finger at each other, which does absolutely nothing but causing fights, actually hold fans accountable for their words. Not just of drivers you don’t like, but people who support your driver. All that person is doing is contributing to the toxic and hateful environment that seems to be all I see when I now go online. All it does is create a bad name for the driver and make people think all the fans of that driver behave that way. I’m sick of coming online and wondering what fucking fan war I’m about to witness and what happened when I was offline.
And I know people will say “but this drivers fans are worse”, I DONT CARE. I’ve said what I’ve said. It’s about making EVERYONE accountable for their words/actions instead of just the fans of drivers you don’t like. If you don’t hold everyone accountable, even if you’re friends with someone saying this toxic stuff, you’re part of the problem. that does include drivers too - but some people are very picky on which driver they think needs to be held accountable and which doesn’t… which makes no sense. Either hold every driver to that same standard or none of them, don’t pick and choose which driver needs accountability and which doesn’t
End of rant. I just needed to say this💀
“Listen to me, you’re safe “
She does a set at the Troubadour, and she's about to head towards Lenny who's hanging out at the bar, presumably waiting for her (and if he wants to be just friends he needs to stop getting her fucking hopes up for more), but she's distracted by the two men sitting right up front.
"Frank. Nicky. What-"
"You were great, Midge," Frank tells her, getting to his feet along with his friend. "Just fantastic."
"Sensational," Nicky agrees, wrapping an arm around her.
She swallows a little and tries to dislodge, but his arm gets a little tighter.
"We need to have a quick word with you outside, though," Nicky tells her. "Won't take very long."
"Outside?" Midge asks warily. "Can't we talk here? At the bar, I have drink tickets, I can-"
"That's real nice of you, Midge, but we gotta talk outside."
And so they do, because they're two very enormous, imposing men, and she tries to catch Lenny's eye, but he's talking to the bartender, and Midge...
Winds up in the alley behind the club.
"Guys, whatever is going on-"
"Here's the problem, Midge," Frank tells her. "Susie owes us, and she keeps putting it off."
"Kicking the can down the road, as it were," Nicky adds.
"And we need to send her a message that we're serious this time," Frank explains.
Midge swallows hard, trying to back away, but just bumps into Nicky.
"It's nothing personal, you understand," Nicky says. "It's just business."
Frank nods in agreement. "Exactly. So when you wake up, we want you to let Susie know. She owes us. We're serious. You got it?"
Midge looks from one man to the other. "When I wake-"
Nicky grabs her and slams her head against the brick wall of the club, and the world goes dark.
*****
He's pretty sure she went to the bathroom.
That's got to be it, right? He looked away for a second and Midge was gone, and he figures - he figures she just needed to take a piss, and she'll be back.
But fifteen minutes go by, and no Midge.
And Lenny gets a bad feeling. He turns to the bartender. "Hey - did you see the comic leave?"
The bartender nods. "Yeah, two big guys escorted her out. Looked like she knew 'em, but she didn't look too happy to see 'em."
That bad feeling gets worse.
He pays for his drink and heads out of the club, looking around. No sign of Midge. That bad feeling only grows as he glances back towards the alley, but his feet carry him there anyways.
And there she is, crumpled on the ground, and his feet carry him faster.
"Midge? Midge." On his knees, gathering her in his arms. "Midge. Midge, can you hear me?"
The wound on her head doesn't look bad enough to do permanent damage, but it's not good either. Her dazed eyes start to blink open, and she starts to struggle, squeaking out a protest.
"Midge- Midge!" He takes her shoulders. "Midge, listen - you're safe. It's okay. It's okay."
She starts breathing hard, sitting up as best she can and looking around, before her eyes settle on him. "L-Lenny?"
"What happened?" he asks.
She looks around again as he helps her to her feet, practically holding her up. She's obviously dizzy. "Susie's friends...they came to my show, and they...they wanted me to give her a message."
"Friends? What friends?"
"Her mob friends," Midge explains.
"Fuck," he mutters. "Okay. Come on. You're coming home with me."
"I didn' get paid..." she mutters, still obviously dazed. "An' my family..."
"I'll let everyone know you're safe," he promises. "And we can come back tomorrow for your pay."
Soon, they're in a cab, headed for his place, and it's strange how the tables have turned.
Kind of. When she found him on Eighth Street, he'd been high and it was entirely his fault. Finding Midge beat up in an alley is hardly her own doing.
"I warned Susie," Midge mutters as her head rests on his shoulder. "Warned her..."
He takes a breath and wonders if she felt this amount of worry when she was hauling him into her apartment.
*****
He helps her out of her dress and corset and into one of his shirts. He figures she might as well be as comfortable as she can be, and he lets her do most of the work, not really looking, and only aiding her when she seems to need it.
He tucks her up in bed, and cleans off the wound before fetching some ice from his icebox, dumping it into a towel and coming back to her to settle it against the ugly bruise on her forehead.
"You're always so nice to me," she says, seeming more like herself. Less out of it.
"We're friends," he reminds her.
Midge nods. "Friends. Right."
He knows she wants more. Hell, he does too. He's just not certain he can give it to her. Or anyone really, but especially her.
"How are you feeling?" Lenny asks.
"Better," she admits. "The headache is gonna hang around, though." She sighs. "You could have just taken me home."
"Your parents would have lost their shit," Lenny mutters as he adjusts the ice. "Made it worse."
Midge nods, grinning a little. "I love them, but yes they would have."
He shouldn't be thinking about what it would be like to hear that word directed at him. He is anyways.
Lenny brushes her hair from her face carefully. "Who am I calling first? Your parents, or Susie?"
"I can call," she says, taking the ice from him and starting to get up.
"Nope," he says, stopping her gently. "You stay here. You rest."
Midge gazes at him for a moment and then nods, before leaning in and kissing his cheek. "Thank you, Lenny."
He's a weak man, Lenny Bruce is, and before she can pull away, he turns his head and kisses her softly, his hand resting on her bare arm, his thumb stroking her skin.
Her free hand comes up, cupping his jaw as she returns the kiss, and when it ends, she blows out a breath, her eyes still closed. "Friends, huh?"
"Friends...possibly with certain...privileges," he tries.
"Funny man," she tells him, settling back against his pillows and replacing the ice. "I don't want this only some of the time."
He nods, thinking that over. "Let me go make those calls."
I don't know how to feel about the fact that Lestat's father in some way approved of Louis. He knew about Lestat's sexuality since France.
.......did he, though?
At best, Louis was just some dude who was kind enough to let the Marquis crash at his place while he and Lestat did their "business." They played chess together, and Louis was kind, but it's not like Lestat and Louis had anything comparable to a human relationship to begin with. If they could hide the fact that they're inhuman around his father, I doubt they would've had a hard time hiding...whatever the fuck was going on between them at the time lol!
I don't have the brainpower to comb back through TVL, but it's always interesting to think about what their relationship was like after Lestat ran away to Paris. Because on the one hand, Lestat told readers pretty much right out of the gate that as the youngest son, he really had no prospects and no expectations, so in a way nothing he did mattered. But even as someone who "doesn't matter" to his family, Lestat is continually being broken and controlled every time he tries to go out on his own— the first time because his father claims to have no money to support an ecclesiastical career, and the second time because despite being the youngest, Lestat is of noble lineage, and so he cannot run away with the Commedia players because that is an embarrassment on the family name.
By that logic, Lestat choosing to be with Nicki is the ultimate betrayal.
Of course the Marquis had to have known about Lestat's sexuality once he ran away with Nicki, but by the time Lestat swings back around to save his ass from the revolution, he's not really in a position to argue about trivial shit like that?? Like lmfao by the time Lestat comes back, he is old and blind and honestly Lestat hated him so fucking much, I'm sure he was just waiting for a reason to kick him to the curb.
So ANYWAY if it were up to me, I would say the old man tolerated his son's sexuality more than approved but c'est la fucking vie
So there's this Lambert afterlife fic I've been thinking about for a while
(Lambert being Nicky's war boyfriend in Holiest Among The Living. Lambert is not a nice guy. He is a very chivalrous and well-respected medieval Norman knight, but he is not a nice guy. He does bad stuff in real life, because "doing bad stuff" is his day job, which he hates. He has a very beautiful, very stupid hunting dog. He's the leader of a socialist mercenary frat house. He's an atheist, but he likes church guys against his better judgment. His goal in life is "dying in bed." He's an OC that I'm really proud of, just from a "storytelling as craft" perspective.)
Anyway (spoilers) he dies at the end of Holiest. He wakes up in... he's not sure where. He's in pain and can't sit up, but he's lying in bed in warm, comfortable chambers, and he's being attended by his mom and sister. He can hear the women of the house singing as they spin and weave. He can smell spring rain on the pine forest outside. The fatal wound he received from Nicky is still there, but it is clean and bandaged.
He starts to recover and gets his bearings: he appears to be the lord of his own manor, with lands encompassing fields, forests, and mountains. He locates more dead friends and family, but only certain ones, and everyone a) knows that they're dead and b) believe themselves to be in heaven, with God.
Lambert has his "this is the bad place" moment: he knows that he's a professional thug and penis enjoyer who doesn't belong in heaven (in his mind--not the reader's), and decides that he hates it in heaven, and he's going to escape. He gears up to go hunting, gets on his (long-dead) favorite horse, and rides off into the woods.
He rides until he comes across Mimir's Well, and a one-eyed wanderer accompanied by two ravens. He recognizes the wanderer as Odin, and greets him respectfully ("lord of my ancestors, I did not expect to find you here.")
("Who did you expect?" replies Odin with a twinkle in his eye.)
They banter a little bit, and Odin bids Lambert drink from Mimir's Well. He bends to drink, and falls through the well into a "mirror universe" of sorts. He is at an ordinary well that he remembers from his childhood, and instead of Odin, there is his court physician from the manor: a little brown Jew he had noticed and then brushed off in an earlier scene. Surprise! It's Jesus.
Lambert then goes through a series of journeys and trials related to his own past, with Jesus advising him in sort of a direct, down-to-earth way (the exact mechanics of this afterlife situation are not really explained, and Jesus repeatedly avoids answering Lambert's "is this heaven or hell" questions. It's implied that even he doesn't know how it all works). These are especially ugly or otherwise impactful moments from Lambert's life, and he has to process them and articulate what was going on. This ends up being the bulk of the story.
Between episodes of this, Lambert goes back to the manor house. He still gets hungry and tired and his wound sometimes gets aggravated. He talks to the other people there. Etc. He starts to relax.
The turning point in his journey comes when he finally revisits the moment that Nicky killed him, and he follows along unseen as Joe and Nicky leave the battlefield. We got Nicky's POV on this in Holiest, but now we get Lambert's POV, and Lambert is like "oh shit, he really wasn't lying, I was the monster and he slew me like one."
Jesus is like "yeah basically. But I died for your sins, and all I want in return is for you to clean up your house. The wandering spirits of your comrades are looking for hospitality."
Lambert's kind of like "do I have to?" but then Jesus reveals himself to be the great High King--the image of God that was preached most commonly to Lambert in his mortal life. The idealized feudal lord. Great and terrible, but merciful. Lambert bends the knee and swears fealty, and then his snarky, nerdy (and strangely handsome?) court physician is back, and he's smiling.
Back at the manor, Lambert's sitting down to dinner, warm and dry while a torrential rainstorm rages outside. Suddenly, a bunch of his dead buddies burst into the hall, muddy and gross and looking like they just came off the battlefield in the Holy Land. They walk in and start acting like medieval frat boys, putting their feet on the table and spitting, and Lambert is like
"GENTLEMEN. GET YOUR FUCKING FEET OFF THE FUCKING TABLE. THIS IS A LADY'S HOUSE."
(His mom is laughing into a handkerchief)
And he proceeds to whip them into shape, basically. Still bearing his wound, he sets out to turn his house into an idealized heavenly medieval manor, and the fic ends with some variation on "let's go to work."
ma...
nicky valentino, two against the world
prequel of ma?
I wanted to write something about Muriel but idk what to write so I just came back to this mafia with the most handsome brooklyn accent. anyway—that’s one post, see y’all in the next 3 weeks !! 🏃‍♀️💨
Tumblr media
I'm sorry, Mr. Valentino. We did our best…
❝Your mother and I used to come here,❞ The young kid looked up at his father. The blonde mafioso held his sides and slowly sat him up on one of the chairs in the speakeasy. Warm eyes looked at the child, a subtle emotion of sadness seemed to reside in those eyes.
Nicholai looked around, ❝Papa…?❞
❝Yes?❞
❝What was Mama like?❞
❝Your ma? She was a blazing firecracker, kid.❞ Nicky smiled at him as he sat next to Nicholai. He looked around the speakeasy, bittersweet memories of you flooded his mind. He could still see you beside him—your smile, your bright aura, the way you would give him a sassy remark every chance you get.
Nicky placed his hand on the child’s head. No matter, since he knows his child—your child—although he looked uncannily like him, was a fragment of you. And he’s gonna love this piece of you that manifested in a three-year-old’s body like how the two of you planned.
Nicholai furrowed his eyes as his father stared at him intently. There it was again. That look of heartache and grief in his fathers eyes. He never understood then—he never understood why his father would always look like that when they talked about his mother.
❝She would’ve been so happy to meet you, Nicholai. You would’ve loved her too.❞
He longed for his mother.
Those words stuck with him as he grew up. He slowly learned how different his family was from the others. How he didn’t have someone that would read him bedtime stories when he goes to bed when his Papa was away. Someone who was the light of the home while his Pa was the pillar.
And he wondered everyday what she was like.
❝Heya, kid. Got into trouble again?❞ Nicholai jumped as a sudden voice talked behind him. He turned around and placed his hands in front of him, mimicking a boxer’s pose. The white-haired man chuckled at the young teen, making Nicholai slowly drop his hands in relief.
❝N-No! What are you talking about, Uncle Murray—❞
❝You got a bruise right there,” He pointed to Nicholai’s cheek, earning a small frown from the boy. Murray chuckled once more, “Come’re, show me your medical kits so we can patch you up. You know how your father gets when he sees you like that.❞
Nicholai couldn’t do anything but sigh in defeat, helping Murray through the large mansion. Footsteps of the two can be heard through the empty halls as they walked in silence, until Nicholai eventually stopped his tracks when he realized he could only hear his footsteps. He turned around, his eyebrow furrowed as he sighted Murray stare at a painting on the wall.
It was a portrait of you. A portrait of when you were only a few months before Nicholai’s birth. You were smiling brightly as you held your large pregnant belly. His father—Nicky, was behind you, was also smiling. It was evident that the pair was excited for an addition in the family. They were excited for his birth.
Nicholai glanced once more at Murray, he had that soft smile looking at the portrait. He muttered softly, ❝Pa said you were the one responsible for getting them together…❞
Murray nodded, ❝I was and am responsible for their love story, their movie—❞
❝Yeah, ‘movie’...❞ Nicholai scoffed, he remembered how his father would always say how life was a movie—or how his mother wasn’t from this century or something. He sighed once more, ❝Pa would always tell me that life was a movie, and we’re characters in it. Let’s say that was…true, can you tell me what kind of character my mother was?❞
Murray looked at the blonde teenager, ❝She was curious, and had a love for action. She wanted to escape through movies, so I helped her. Then she eventually met your father and they created the best, as she would call, ‘gangster’ movie in the century.❞
Nicholai nodded and gave him a small smile before turning around, ready to guide Murray once more to the medical kits. He already heard that description of his mother before. He asked many people that question, and many had a different view of his mother—all of them being surprisingly positive about her. He already heard a lot but it seemed that he still didn't know her.
❝Want to meet her?❞
Nicholai stopped his tracks, then looked back at Murray confused.
❝Life is a movie. I can’t tell you for sure who your mother truly is to you, and I know how much you’ve been longing to meet her,❞ Nicholai looked down. Murray still had a loving smile on his face, ❝I can rewind that movie so you can experience it first hand. What do you say, little Nicky?❞
Time seemed to flow very slowly as the late-twenties version of his father interrogated him like a criminal. But then a figure came inside the room, he glanced at his father, noticing his face soften. When he turned his face to look at the figure, he felt the time that moved slowly to a stop.
He glanced back at the portrait, at your smiling face. Echoes of the many impressions that people had of you, his yearning for a mother, and Murray’s words battled inside his mind. Can he really…meet you?
It was…you. The inanimate woman in the portraits, the motionless woman in the pictures, the woman with many names—the woman his father loved very much. His mother, mom, mama.
He felt a bittersweet feeling in his chest as he tried to get words out of his mouth. He felt like an infant trying to let out his first words.
Ma…
