Another reblog it is!! LOL
EXACTLY!! I'm really excited to get into the content, seems like there's some stuff on YouTube I can browse for Animated! I'm really excited to see the art style in that show for sure!
Cyclopian characters are a LOT of fun, especially when trying to draw them expressing! And think his license plate says shockwave? Lol not I need to go dig him out of the box I have him in haha
Oooh makes sense, looks like you can buy some on amazon and watch some on youtube as well of G1!! I'm SO gonna do that!!
Actiony stuff with giant creatures or robots makes brain go brrr
And I absolutely agree with you there!! Probably part of the ways they stylize the creatures to have robot features too
And that's a fair suggestion! I saw that I can watch some og G! on youtube so I'll start there as soon as I get the chance! I ABSOLUTELY love seeing characters evolve over time and all the different back and forth, artistic evolution is just one of those things I never get tired of seeing!
I absolutely value everything you've written and again thank you so much for taking the time to write all this stuff out for me! It's been an amazingly helpful and fun read and I'll definitely use the list of shows you wrote down!!
(I Absolutely can't wait to see the characters you doodled in the show!! Thanks again @obi-art)
What transformers series do you recommend getting into first? I've had some off and on interest over the years about getting into transformers but there's a lot of media surrounding it :^O
Oooooo!!! That certainly is a toughie!
This gonna be kinda long and wordy so under the cut it goes!
I grew up watching the original, G1 cartoon, had the movie on VHS, (wore that sucker OUT from watching it so much). So I suppose I’d be a bit biased for nostalgic reasons for starting there where it all began. You can definitely tell it’s a cartoon made in the 80’s, and understandably that kinda thing isn’t for everyone, but I personally enjoy it!
Sadly tho, for quite awhile there I fell out of the loop when it came to Transformers stuff. I still loved it of course but growing up in a big family and being the household where everyone liked to gather, there were a lot of kids. And with only the one tv really, it was majority rules in determining what we watched and none of the other kids particularly liked Transformers.
So it wasn’t until much later in life when I was finally able to get back into things. But I had missed out on…a lot.
I saw the first two Michael Bay movies in theaters. I was so excited for the first one but I disliked the second one. Then much later after those, I decided to dive back in to all the things I missed out on, starting with watching the Transformers Prime series. Which I throughly enjoyed~!
Then I went down a rabbit hole with the comics. I had absolutely no idea WHERE to start, but I had seen so much content and talk about the More Than Meets The Eye series so I started there, moving on to Lost Light when the time came. Went back and started, oh I can’t think of the proper term so I’ll just say sister series to MTMTE, Robots In Disguise. Plus of course, reading all the connecting mini series and one-offs that went along with them. Plus a few other, unrelated series.
Then I picked up watching Transformers: Animated! I think it’s kinda obvious that I loved it~ haha! It was certainly different and I really liked that! Plus I really like the art style! :)
Lessee…I enjoyed the War For Cybertron Trilogy on Netflix. Only seen the first season of Robots In Disguise, but I liked that too! I keep telling myself to watch Cyberverse but I keep…forgetting to…orz.
BotBots was…ehhhhhh in my opinion. I mean I laughed at some things here and there, but as best as I can describe it is kiiiinda Teen Titans GO-esque so if that’s not your thing then BotsBots prolly won’t be either.
Finally got around to watching the rest of the Michael Bay movies, didn’t care for Dark Of The Moon, but I enjoyed Age of Extinction and The Last Knight!
And I am quite enjoying the new Earthspark series!
But there’s still a LOT I need to catch up on..! ^^;
Of course I’d be happy to go more in-depth on the content that I have already consumed if you’d like to know more, I just wanted to kinda list what I have seen/read thus far and give my brief opinions on them! :)

@obi-art Decided to reblog cause I have no idea when tumblr added a character limit to comments??
When I first started TV I remember vaguely watching the G1 one show and finding it interesting! I watch a few shows from 80s (and a little later) so I'll probably invest in watching that too! I've been wanting to get into content that has a lot of material, especially since I wanna design and draw more robots lol, the "Transformers: Animated!" show in particular appeals a lot to me because of it's really fresh and clean artstyle, and from the large amount of fan art I've seen, some really fun character personalities too! I started watching the show when it first came out, but when I didn't have cable anymore I kind lost the ability to pursue the show
I've always had a fondness for Shockwave, since I thought he was the coolest character when I was a kid, even still have this toy of him (Stock image for the pic) (Also just realized why does he have an autobot symbol on him??):
Anyways, it'd be really fun to see what he's like in the cartoon too! I never really got far in watching it, and especially not in order 'cause of TV lol! I'll have to figure out where I can watch all the transformer shows and movies...
Speaking of the movies! I really LOVED when the first one came out! Definitely one of the larger jumps in CGI we've had and therefore it was really impressive! I really liked the first one as well, but I can't quite remember my feelings on the 2nd one, and I haven't seen the others yet :^O Though I've also always been a fan of the animal/ dinosaur based transformers haha (Used to have a cheetah toy that was sadly lost to the ages)
Thank you so much for listing all of the shows and taking the time to write this reply! It's been SUPER informative!! And I'll definitely use this list to see where I wanna start watching! Do you think the older show is the better one to start watching first or Transformers: Animated (lore wise or other)?

Weirdly Specific Artist Ask Game
1. Art programs you have but don't use
Many many MANY programs Pencil, Media Bang Pro, PS6, Blender, many programs of trying to do new things lol
2. Is it easier to draw someone facing left or right (or forward even)
Definitely left for some reason
3. What ideas come from when you were little
I liked dragons, but most my father showed me a LOT of super hero cartoons and comics!
4. Fav character/subject that's a bitch to draw
*Exhales slowly* Forests/ woods. I LOVE every aesthetic that comes with them but I have a lot of trouble making distance look good. Luckily my character aren't to difficult to draw because I try not to over complicate them nowadays unlike in the past OOF
5. Estimate of how much of your art you post online vs. the art you keep for yourself
I post majority of my stuff, as I'm more of a digital artist than a tradition one (used to be a tradish artist), what I don't post is typically just unrendered sketches of digital pieces.
6. Anything that might inspire you subconsciously (i.e. this horse wasn't supposed to look like the Last Unicorn but I see it)
It definitely happens a weird amount, mostly I find my art style has a lot of inspirations from past shows I watched as a lkid.
7. A medium of art you don't work in but appreciate
Pretty much all art I don't do! Stop motion has to be up there though!
8. What's an old project idea that you've lost interest in
Hm, I try to pick back up a LOT of old projects that I used to do since I really don't like not finishing anything like that, I mostly just end up heavily revamping concepts in the end but still keeping a decent amount of it's integrity.
9. What are your file name conventions
Had to look up what this meant lol, not anything too exciting though, just a vague name of what I'll call the piece when I post it. Sometimes I change it to something better in the posting process *shrug*
10. Favorite piece of clothing to draw
Some variation of hoodie and jeans!
11. Do you listen to anything while drawing? If so, what
Yes definitely! Most of the time it's music, but other times I listen to scary true stories from various readers and if I'm not in the mood for that I listen to HellFreezer's various fun tales.
12. Easiest part of body to draw
Hands and eyes!
13. A creator who you admire but whose work isn't your thing
Uhh I don't think anyone like that, usually I follow people because I'm interested in their stuff lol
14. Any favorite motifs
Hm, that's a tough one, uhh I can't really think of anything specific
15. *Where* do you draw (don't drop your ip address this just means do you doodle at a park or smth)
Usually at my PC but in the past I used to go to an Ihop in the middle of the night to relax and doodle
16. Something you are good at but don't really have fun doing
I can draw literally any species some are less fun to draw than others
17. Do you eat/drink when drawing? if so, what
All the time, and that mostly depends on the time of day, sometimes these tasty little digestive biscuits, some times hot chips, fruit? Then typically water, coffee, and fizzy waters, and uh drink mix powders
18. An estimate of how much art supplies you've broken
I don't really break art supplies luckily, I was given this ancient hot glue gun when I was a kid and it made a loud pop sound and started smoking but that's mostly because it was ancient...
19. Favorite inanimate objects to draw (food, nature, etc.)
Trees mostly!
20. Something everyone else finds hard to draw but you enjoy
Hands I guess! I have a lot of characters with multiple limbs, even one with a set of 10 arms!
21. Art styles nothing like your own but you like anyways
Haha if we're talking mass media I'd go with Adventure Time and CentaurWorlds bubbly style.
22. What physical exercises do you do before drawing, if any
Trying to do just general stretches in the morning, though I got a desk peddle bike recently that I LOVE
23. Do you use different layer modes
Definitely!
24. Do your references include stock images
Sometimes!
25. Something your art has been compared to that you were NOT inspired by
Tim Burton stuff, I got that a lot when I was younger even though I didn't like his stuff at all??
26. What's a piece that got a wildly different interpretation from what you intended
I know there's one but I can't think of it at the moment..
27. Do you warm up before getting to the good stuff? If so, what is it you draw to warm up with
I usually do, usually some random personal art drawing
28. Any art events you have participated in the past (like zines)
ArtFightArtFightArtFight
29. Media you love, but doesn't inspire you artistically
Gotta be cooking shows
30. What piece of yours do you think is underrated
Gotta be my Kajo Ref
Man that was SO much fun!! I really wish these were more common and easier to find!!!

Weirdly Specific Artist Ask Game
Didn't see a lot of artist ask games, wanted to make a silly one.
