bear with mee, pavilion bukit jalil.
came across this noodle place over the weekend when we were at pavilion bukit jalil after buying stuff at nitori. the noodle place has a really cute bear theme and the noodle looks appetizing so we decided to give it a try.
ordered the noodles with creamy soup and budae jjigae ramyeon with lemon ribena in a bear bottle and a snack platter to share. the creamy soup is quite flavorful and has a very comforting taste, i love the thick glass noodles, as it has a really bouncy texture so it is very enjoyable to eat. there's quite a lot of ingredients depending on what you choose, but definitely very filling. the bowl also has a cute bear in the middle, making the dining experience more fun.
it's definitely a nice find, simple yet enjoyable meal. the ribena drink was too sweet and quite pricey though, but the bear bottle definitely was the main reason why i picked it. XD

lutono, mid valley.
found this newly opened restaurant via social media and decided to give it a try. we did not make any reservation but there's still space available since it was a weekday. their menu consist of both western and japanese dishes, some fusion style, which is quite interesting.
we ordered the uni capellini appetizer as it it a promotional item, engawa don and braised duck leg because it looks really good and very appetizing. also ordered a glass of moscato since it was on promotion as well.
the food did not take too long to arrive but they did forget one order, so we had to wait. the appetizer is quite nice, truffle cream definitely makes the dish smells really good. the sea urchin and fish roe goes well with the angel hair pasta.
engawa don is the best out of all the dishes we ordered. the fish is very flavorful and the texture is soft, goes well with the bed of rice, seaweed and other condiments. this is highly recommended as it is flavorful and enjoyable.
braised duck leg comes with sweet potato mash and brown sauce. i find the sauce slightly too salty but the duck meat is super tender which is very enjoyable.
overall dining experience was quite okay, the restaurant has a pink funky theme overall, the lighting is not the most comfortable and it is also bad for photos. but the vibe is indeed quite trendy. the staff was very responsive and friendly as well. it is worth checking the place out while they still have various promotions.

maisen, sunway pyramid.
got to know that a popular tonkatsu restaurant has recently opened, so we went to try it out during our meet up. during lunch time, the queue was about 30-40 minutes to get a table, we waited longer because our group is bigger.
the menu has quite a lot of options to enjoy tonkatsu with, we ordered different ones to try, the basic tonkatsu set with pork tenderloin, cheese tonkatsu with pork loin and katsumabushi tenderloin set, also ordered the pork potato croquette as appetizer.
our food arrive rather quickly, which is a good thing, even though the restaurant is full at that time. all the sets come with white rice, cabbage, pickles, miso soup and fruits. the rice, cabbage and soup can be refilled if you are not sharing, but we ordered enough for everyone so we did not refill anything.
the outer layer of the tonkatsu is indeed super crispy, love the panko which enhance the overall texture of the meat. the pork is tender and enjoyable, and you get to choose to match it with salt or sauces to add flavor. i like the katsumabushi style which you may add dashi to increase the flavor. cheese version is also great because the pork is cooked with onions which makes the taste so appetizing. croquette is the best for me, because of the texture difference between the panko layer and the potato inside which is super soft and fluffy, definitely order this if you are visiting.
overall, the food is enjoyable and definitely filling. the portion size may be lesser compared to other tonkatsu restaurant though. we feel that while this is good, i wouldn't say there's much difference in terms of standard between this place and my other favorite tonkatsu place - ma maison, it all depends which cooking style you prefer.

tian jing cafe, cheras.
a relatively new cafe nearby my neighborhood, i ordered from them a lot on food delivery app, but finally visited. the vibe is very relaxed and chill with lots of plants everywhere, it's quite nice to be surrounded by greens.
ordered luncheon meat fried rice, corn fritters, fried pork chop, iced americano and matcha latte. i like the aesthetic of the cafe a lot, and the food presentation is also attractive.
food portion is quite huge, more than we expected. the pork chop is crispy and the meat is flavorful, it goes well with the sauce. corn fritters are really huge, could not finish them. fried rice smells nice, the curry taste adds a nice aroma with luncheon meat, which is very appetizing.
overall dining experience was nice, the food was definitely a lot, the staff is also really nice and friendly. definitely a cafe to visit if you want to be in a relaxing ambiance.

sushi koi, pavilion bukit jalil.
decided to try this japanese restaurant because there's lots of good reviews, and the restaurant was almost full too, really a popular option in this huge shopping mall. the menu and ordering system is via QR code that the staff will provide when you are seated.
we ordered the temari sushi, soft shell crab don and gyuniku soba noodles for two people. the food takes some time to arrive but the green tea is enjoyable, so if you are not too hungry, the wait is quite alright.
temari sushi is good, served in bite size and each fish is very fresh and the cut is quite thick as well, i definitely enjoyed them all. soft shell crab don is really really nice, the crab is fried to perfection, the softness inside is still intact and it smells amazing and so appetizing. soba noodles is a comfort dish, the meat slices are soft and tender, soup is really warm and flavorful.
our dining experience overall is great, they refill our green tea when requested, the staff is also tentative and the food presentation is nice, would visit again to try the other stuff in their menu since there's so many things available.

perfect ice, pavilion bukit bintang.
came across this cafe randomly when walking around the mall, and recently i'm just craving for waffles and croffles, so it's a must try for me. they have lots of different toppings for their croffle, so you get to customize and pick what you like.
i chose honey and strawberry at the end. you can opt for ice cream as well, but since we were quite full so we decided not to. the croffle is fluffy and has a crispy outer layer which is very enjoyable, but it's kinda too small though. and the strawberry topping is really little.
overall still an enjoyable tea time snack or dessert, the cafe space is kinda cute and quiet, so it's a good spot to just chill and relax.

squid boy, pavilion bukit jalil.
came here to shop and found this place which sells deep fried giant squid upon order. it is a great portion to share as snack. the squid texture is slightly chewy, the batter is thick and flavorful, you can opt for spicy or non-spicy as well.
the winter melon tea is a great combination to wash down the oiliness after enjoying the giant squid, as it is refreshing and not overly sweet.
it's definitely a good place to check out for some hot snacks, they also have other taiwanese snacks on the menu such as chicken and stuff.

mermaid and 2d heart nails.
did mismatched design for both hands and feet this time. as i had a diving trip right after my nails appointment, so i picked mermaid theme again with glitters and shiny blue and purple colors, it's my absolute favorite as the colors are just so pretty, especially with chrome effect.
2d nails are also something new and cute, i love the effect very much and red nails kinda stands out a lot too. really love both the designs even though they are totally unrelated.

asuka cafe, pavilion bukit jalil.
came here for dessert after dinner and shopping, because we saw their attractive advertisement around the mall. the cafe style is very muji-like, casual and minimalist aesthetic, and it's right at the middle area of the mall.
we ordered the belgain waffle with vanilla and chocolate ice cream and hot lemon tea. the cafe also provide drinking water to wash down the sweetness. the waffle looks very attractive, just like the photos. waffle texture is fluffy and there's a variety of bite size fruits around as well. ice cream is normal, nothing too different.
the waffle is pretty standard, looks really good and is enjoyable, it's a good cafe spot to hang out for dessert and chill. if there's event going on in the middle stage, the noise could be too much though.

mr waffle, cheras traders square.
came here after dinner for dessert, and ice cream waffle is my all time favorite. this store is quite new and the overall ambiance is very minimalist. the menu has a variety of waffle options, there signature being the ice cream sandwich waffle.
ordered the dark chocolate ice cream waffle, it did take a while as there are quite a few people there. the dark chocolate ice cream is freezing cold, and the waffle on both sides are warm and fluffy. it takes a little squeeze to be able to fit one bite into my mouse since the sandwich is quite thick. the hot and cold sensation is amazing though. ice cream is not sweet at all, there's a very apparent cocoa bitter taste instead.
i enjoyed the waffle very much, while it is kinda small, since there's only half the waffle here, it is also very satisfying, great portion even if you are not sharing. would definitely try other waffle items on their menu next time.

chill u up, cheras traders garden.
this is a new cafe in the popular and crowded area of cheras traders square on the first floor, the entrance is at the side so it's kinda hard to find. i like the cafe vibes with the relaxing chill vibes though.
since we tried their gelato ice cream cake for my friend's birthday last month, we know their gelato is great, so we ordered 2 scoops of gelato - matcha and peach oolong tea with waffle. i love the hot and cold combination a lot, and the waffle is so crispy and fluffy, it is just perfect.
food presentation is great, and the portion is also big enough to share as dessert, the matcha flavor is really strong hence the gelato is not really sweet at all. peach oolong tea is my favorite since it taste exactly like the milk tea i love from chagee.
would definitely visit again in near future for more of their yummy gelato and waffles, they do have quite a lot of other desserts on the menu which looks interesting too.

donkas lab, sunway geo avenue.
was around the area when visiting my friend, decided to try this place as we saw the tonkatsu portion is huge and it is korean food. i ordered the kimchi jjigae set which comes with white rice, kimchi, radish, iced peach tea and a big bowl of kimchi jjigae with a big piece of tonkatsu with their sauce.
the kimchi jjigae is quite spicy, so it goes really well with the rice, it's very enjoyable and appetizing. i felt so full just by finishing the soup. the pork chop is also very big, the skin is crispy, however, covered by the sauce which is quite thick and sweet. all my friends did not like the sauce as well, it would be much better to not have the sauce or have it on the side.
i do recommend sharing a set, as each set portion is rather huge and filling, unless you are very hungry. the restaurant was also quite busy when we were there, seems to be a popular restaurant. my friends who ordered the cold noodles did not like the taste though. i guess it would be better to stick to the tonkatsu set with either rice or noodles.

christine's bakery, mid valley, kuala lumpur.
it's been so long since i had pizza, decided to indulge in some last weekend, and christine's bakery has some fusion pizza which is pretty interesting.
we ordered the sourdough pizza with smoked salmon, which has a more fluffy and airy dough compared to the normal pizza. the toppings also has rockets, cheese and a rather strong tomato based sauce, so the taste is very flavorful, kinda too much i feel.
the other pizza we got is a crozza - croissant dough made into pizza. we chose breakfast toppings which has a onsen egg in the middle with sausage, tomatoes and cheese. the crust is really nice due to the fluffy layers, which i love. the topping is good and compliments the croissant texture very well.
i do recommend trying the crozza, as the dough texture is enjoyable and smells really good too, and the toppings are more interesting and yummy in my opinion. i do enjoy a few of the pastries from the bakery so i am not surprised, i hope they would come up with other innovative pastries and menu in the future.

sugirl desserts, mid valley megamall.
we discovered this dessert place while walking around the mall and decided to give it a try because i wanted croffle (my new addiction!). we ordered the chocolate sea salt croffle and their signature drink - mango sago with rose lychee jelly.
the food and drink was served quickly, food presentation was great but it was quite pricey for such a small portion though. the croffle has some crispiness and fluffiness but it feels overly sweet to my personal taste, since there's lot of chocolate syrup, i didn't taste any sea salt too.
the mango sago drink is also quite sweet, there are some fruit cuts inside the drink, so you have to use both a straw and a spoon. i felt the drink was quite heavy instead of refreshing, since it is quite sweet and the texture is more like a smoothie.
would definitely prefer other croffles that i have tried elsewhere, and for this price, it's definitely not worth the money. they also did not provide free water like most cafe do, to wash down all the sweetness from their food and drinks.

yu yi bak kut teh 友谊肉骨茶, kuala lumpur.
came here with colleagues for lunch, as it is within walking distance from office. the restaurant is famous for their bak kut teh, a very popular malaysian cuisine, and there's the soup version and try dry version.
we all ordered the soup version which is served in individual clay pots, it's so cute due to the mini size. the lunch set also comes with chinese tea, white rice, vegetables and fried dough sticks. when the restaurant is busy, it does take a little time for the food to be served.
the soup taste quite appetizing, it is flavorful but not too strong, goes well with white rice and the fried dough sticks. the meat given in the set are mainly lean meats, which is what i like, others would prefer pork belly or pork ribs though.
it was an enjoyable meal with colleagues, and the lunch set is also very reasonably priced, and the food taste good and satisfying. definitely a good lunch option if the weather is not too hot outside to walk here from office.
