IDK if I'm phrasing this correctly, but in my brain, Vasco is, like, the personification (caninification?) of an afternoon chilling on a back porch swing.

#ah #that's adorable #I can totally imagine him doing that #answered #anonymous #Vasco #to me he usually conjures the feeling of being warmed by sunlight #winters in northern Finland where I'm from tend to be pretty rough at least for me they are #they last about six months or so #sun starts to set earlier and earlier until it gets dark before 2 pm #in december the sun barely rises at all it's like this brief moment of twilight at noon between two 22+ hour nights #it gets harder to wake up in the morning and your energy levels plummet you go into battery saving mode #polar night messes up your brain seasonal depression gets really bad #and the cold and dark goes on and on and you feel like you'll never feel warm or happy or properly awake again #but eventually it starts to veer towards spring and on one day you notice that the sun is shining??!?! #not like bleakly and weakly but proper sunlight with warm hue and capability to actually warm the things it touches #you've forgotten what it looks like when it's truly light outside #and it's the craziest feeling to see bright natural light it blinds you and pierces right through into your very core #being kissed by the sun for the first time in months feels unreal it feels SO GOOD #I don't know it's probably not that big of a deal for people around me #but I personally react to things like changes in temperature and the amount of daylight pretty massively #I like to think that Vasco is a first ray of sunlight hitting you after you've spent what feels like an eternity in someplace cold and dark

Emperor Penguin (Aptenodytes forsteri)

Habitat- Antarctica

Size (Weight/Length)- 40 kg; 120 cm tall

Diet- Fish; Krill; Squid

Cool Facts- The award for the best parents in the animal kingdom goes to the emperor penguin. During the dead of winter, emperor penguins waddle up to 120 kilometers away from the ocean to lay their singular egg. Thousands of penguins make up these mass breeding colonies, far from predators but also far from food. Temperatures fall to -40 Celsius and winds reach up to 144 kilometers per hour. Three centimeters of fat help to protect the penguins from the brutal weather and the combined body heat of penguin huddles can reach 37 Celsius in the center. Parents have to balance their egg on their feet, hidden from the chill by a flap of fat, due to the ground being lethal on contact for the unhatched baby. The other parent is forced to waddle back to the sea and swim up to 500 kilometers in search of enough food to feed themselves, their mate, and their chick upon hatching.

A Dickens December Day 22

This is arguably the most unpleasant and appalling part. Robbing a dead man was considered a terrible thing and a sin by nineteenth-century standards. Taking a shirt from the body intended for burial was unthinkable. The entire scene aims to demonstrate that the deceased was so detested that even this taboo could be violated and excused.

However, it's intriguing that Scrooge doesn't recognize the people who served him (which could be attributed to the fact that he never really noticed them) and doesn't even recognize his own bedroom. Perhaps the Spirit is showing these things to him in a foggy and blurred manner. I've been asking people about their initial readings of 'A Christmas Carol,' trying to understand if it was apparent to them that the dead man in question was Scrooge. No one seems to recall, as their perceptions were often influenced by knowledge from pop culture and adaptations.

Nameless Day (Dark Goddess) - December 22nd

There is only one day when the tree calendar is not mentioned at all.

It is 22 December, a special day, known as Nameless Day, which holds a special place in folklore and legend. On this day, when the 'king of the waning half-year' had disappeared into darkness and the 'king of the rising half-year' had yet to be born, it was customary to fast to placate the queen in the dark layer. As people fast, the Queen of Darkness allows the sun to return to the world, that is, a new year dawns once more.

No tree is given a name, and the darkest day is dedicated to Morrigan, goddess of death and destruction.

The goddess, whose name means "great queen" or "phantom queen” in Modern Irish, appears in the Arthurian tales as the king's sister under the name Morgan le Fay (the original meaning of le Fay was 'fate'). People were in awe of this queen, who was transformed into a raven.

それは12月22日。この日は「名前のない日」と呼ばれる特別な1日で、民話や伝説では特別な位置を占めている。「衰えゆく半年の王」が闇に消え、「盛りゆく半年の王」はいまだ生まれていないこの日、闇の層にある女王をなぐさめるために断食をするのが習わしだった。人々が断食をすることで闇の女王は太陽がこの世に戻ってくること、つまり、新たな1年がふたたび幕を開けることを許す。

いかなる木にも名前が与えられず、最も闇が深いこの1日は、死と破壊の女神モリガンに捧げられている。

アイルランドの言葉で「偉大なる女王」「幻の女王」を意味するこの女神は、モルガン・ル・フェイ (ル・フェイの元来の意味は「運命」)の名でアーサー王物語に王の姉として登場する。人々はワタリガラスに変身したこの女王に畏怖の念を抱いていた。
