Okay so Loki is a character I’ve loved for a decade (I adore the actor too) and I was hyped beyond reason for the show and I wanted more than anything to enjoy it as I love him and time travel stuff but I couldn’t. The pacing was too slow, Tom’s acting was off (which sucks because we all know how well he usually plays Loki) and they made Loki into a a childish, pathetic and powerless WIMP! He’s a GOD FFS! He should be more powerful than the likes of Carol Danvers, Doctor Strange and Wanda Maximoff! He wielded TWO Infinity Stones in the first Avengers movie (Space & Mind) so why does he get beaten up by vaccuums and mortal humans in his show? And why is this show not even about him as Sylvie says? They turned him into a laughing stock and a sap where he used to be one of the coolest characters ever. Mysterious, cunning, smart, witty, funny (not in a stupid way) and always had a regal presence. Not that of an idiotic office worker! I blame Disney and Michael Wallydron for the terrible writing and direction this show took. I don’t want to watch my favourite character get kicked in the crotch a dozen times and castrated of a personality and power he once had! What a disrespect to the fans, actors and franchise this nonsense was! Tom may be a ‘producer’ but he said that he only had 3% input! They should have just let him write, direct AND act it and be DONE with it! What happened to his Jotun heritage huh? FORGOTTEN! Give us fans what we want and deserve instead of what Disney want! They want to make him into a joke! THEY RUINED one of my all time favourite characters and it HURTS BADLY!!! 😤😭😪💔

my idea for how we can solve the kalim and jamil drama is everyone reads the jp translations of chapter 4 instead of relying on the en translations because the en translations messed up and changed a lot of things which. yk. not good. so like whenever anyone gets the chance please read the jp translations on the mirahaze twst wiki, not just for chapter 4 but also probably for the fireworks silk event because a bunch of things were changed in that too.

only in the SW fandom do you have ppl look at a pacifist woman who is beloved by millions of her people and stands against centuries of war and bloodshed and go "ugh she committed genocide"
and then have the same ppl turn around and watch her sister, known terrorist Leader in a group of terrorists that purposefully murders her own people (to bring them back to a world of war), kills her own sister, and they go "omg princess"
yes this is about the kryze sisters
lmao

There's something delightfully fucked up about somehow binding people's consciousness to animatronics and then taking that a step further to turn part of your spirit or whatever into code to gain another form of immortality. I also Really dig the idea of Glitchtrap killing OG Afton - almost something poetic about the shift of power from Afton being killed by his own OpenAi-Powered fursona for me. But I guess he probably canonically died in Pizza Sim.
I like Help Wanted+SB era FNAF a lot more than the older games, but there's so many interesting things to carry forward from the old stuff too. My city now.
Oh that would be a hell of a narrative play for him to die like that ngl
But yeah. Our city now lmao
#yeah there's some fun stuff back there#it's time to apply what has come from there to the new stuff though#for me anyway#literally every time someone 'solves' fnaf something comes along and butchers it we should know the cadence by now#that's just not fun for me. I like to make sense of what I can see and with the narratives I can form from the threads#i feel like I have actual characters to play around with now whereas before it was just.#OCs in the shape of the old animatronics because they didn't HAVE characters#it had an impact on me of course but it was the concepts of animal animatronics#of hiding things in plain sight and of arcades and play places with mascot characters that were always there to entertain#the themes of mystery and murders was fun too but it's. not a mystery we can solve anymore#i believe that's intentional#if people are forever trying to solve the lore then the game never dies.#that's just how the rehashing feels to me now :/#but that's just it isn't it?#that's what the story has become to me.#a story of a company making decisions for money and reputation over safety and common fucking sense#and it's fascinating to me to look at the characters caught in the crossfire#that can do NOTHING because of this giant fictional Disney holding the strings to their entire lives#maybe I've just been thinking about justice in Meteors and the elaborate cover ups too much recently#but SB and Ruin feel like the extreme results of a company that Does Not Care.#well there's still Glitchyboy and Vanny but even then...#I dunno. i like the story being the result of a company that couldn't care less#i like it being about what came from a generation they tried to move on from but chose to drag with them#i like the idea of them scrambling to solve problems CHEAPLY and not necessarily EFFICIENTLY#the true reality of a CEO that's never set foot into the world of the layperson or the world that they've created#a true group of fools in a board meeting discussing the shares of a covered up murder machine#those within this machine can only control their response. some of them don't even have that.#and yet somehow#SOMEHOW they're clinging on.#SOMEHOW they're still here.

Turbo Sus Vice Housewardens to Be Avoided at All Cost Rankings (Source: Me)!
1. Jade Leech - This man is so scary for obvious reasons. Other reasons probably aren’t so obvious to other people and I can’t even explain what I mean by this not only because I feel like no matter where I am nor regardless of the fact he’s fictional, he’ll be able to hear me but also because some of the things I just flat out won’t talk about. Like I straight up cannot be brought to say them. Evidence for this? None. Just- bad vibes. Bad vibes all around. Also I just can’t figure out his motives. Like Azul likes money and wants revenge for being bullied. Floyd seems like a genuinely nice guy all things aside and just wants to have fun. But Jade? Wtf does he want? He doesn’t care about money so part of me thinks he just wants entertainment like Floyd but to put up with all that? A business he’s not even in charge of, a flakey brother, a pushy boss. Nah… he’s playing some game for the long run. Highly functioning sociopath and the bogeyman that plagued your fragile mind as a child. No. Hate that.
2. Jamil Viper - Snake. Will spends years pretending to be your friend just to stab you in the back and for what? For someone who’s like the most hyper-competent guy on campus, he actually surprisingly lacks like… all critical thinking skills. And it’s because he’s so blinded by the cards he was dealt in life he can’t look beyond that. Is so convinced Kalim is his arch nemesis he can’t take a second to think about it and realize Kalim is actually his greatest ally in life. And even if he did… he probably just would not care. Lifetime of resentment and all that. He’s book smart, he’s street smart, but he is not emotionally nor logically smart. Just avoid him. He’s good at seeming mature but he’s petty and will Regina George you because you like, got the scholarship he wanted or smthng idk
3. Lilia Vanrouge - Listen. I don’t think Lilia will hurt me. I don’t think he’s planning anything nefarious. He’s nice and friendly. Super helpful. Incredibly loyal to Briar Valley and the royal family. Incredibly loyal and loving towards Malleus. That’s not why he’s scary. He’s scary because he’s hiding in plain site. He ain’t even necessarily trying to hide anything about himself, he just won’t outright dish out personal info. It’s the fact no one at NRC is suspecting he’s anything more than just a student that gives him safety to be a little reckless. I have reason to suspect he holds much more power than he lets on but everyone overlooks it because they’re all looking at Malleus instead. Meanwhile Lilia is standing directly behind him, completely hidden (not just bc he’s so short and Malleus so tall 😋), also a complete powerhouse. But no one.suspects.a.thing. And even though the player is privy to this information, there’s still so much about him still shrouded in mystery. Like, again, I don’t think he’s up to anything. I do believe he really is just trying to protect his kiddos and wants peace between all races. But I feel like there’s something about him, something big, that we don’t know yet. And it’s making me nervous.
4. Rook Hunt - I’m not as weirded out by Rook as I had been initially. Both he and Vil grew on me in chapter 6. I flat out disliked both of them before. But they really showed themselves to be loyal and caring towards each other, Epel, and MC (which was what made them stand out compared to the other housewardens and vice housewardens for me, they’re the first ones to actually establish a seemingly genuine personal connection to the player after Ace, Deuce, and Malleus). But- mans is playing The Most Dangerous Game and that story creeped me out so badly when I first read it at like 11 years old that I still think about it constantly to this day, over a decade later. I tried to justify his stalking by reasoning that he wasn’t actually interested in hunting merfolk/beastmen and rather was interested in hunting actual eels or lions, but his PE uniform vignette really said otherwise. He didn’t seem at all interested in the nature of bats as he did fae. And if it were just animals, I doubt Malleus would have nearly taken his head off with that ball as a warning. Nah, it feels like he straight up was looking to Butcher Baker Lilia and that makes me wanna vomit. Rook. You’re one of the good guys. You’ve got the light powers to prove it. If hunting animals is becoming boring for you- find another hobby. Do not fucking turn this into The Most Dangerous Game! Please!
5. Ortho - I always hated the movie Smart House.

I can't recall if I asked this question, anyways, I've been asking around about what people think of Lonnie and most of the responses are: 'she's meh, a copycat of her mom or they just don't know what to do with her'. So what are your honest thoughts about Lonnie and do you think her arc/story in D2 was poorly done or failed?
I would say she's very....inconsistent as a character, really. First film her is okayish, I do like the idea of Mulan and Shang having a daughter whose more into girly stuff then being a warrior like her parents because not all kids will want to be like their families, and it makes sense Lonnie wouldn't really be iffy with the villain kids like the rest of the school, given how her parents would have raised her. Like, the only problems really is beyond the writing and more in the design department, especially with her hair as for some reason, it takes her short dark hair and....makes it suddenly brown in color and curly and such cause...apparently dark short hair is bad???
But I say she's inconsistent because of her arc in Descendants 2, really. Suddenly, she's gone from a girly girl character to...wanting to play ROAR and for some reason, the kingdom has forgotten Mulan exists and made it so that girls can't play sports for some reason, so we can have a badly done girl power plot that goes nowhere because suddenly, Jay steps down from captain in the style off, "Now you can try and change the no girls rule! Have fun!" and for some reason, the film has Lonnie say wait until she tells her mom that...a guy fixed her problem for her....yeah, somehow feel like that goes against the message of Mulan here. Oh and more really bad designs for Lonnie in D2 to the point they took more Japanese inspiration for a Chinese character for some reason, because guess researching Chinese clothes is hard??? Seriously, @descendantofthesparrow did some pretty good redesigns and unlike D2, actually did research for the designs.
She was also like, the second attempt at a love interest for Jay but unlike Audrey, didn't even get a explanation for her absence in D3 so we just left to assume she's vibing somewhere else and away from D3's drama (at least I like to think she is...since technically only one that escaped D3 butchering every character...)
Like, overall she's an okayish character....she's just very inconsistent really and her D2 arc was definitely poorly handled and very rushed and really wish we got a explanation for her absence in D3 at least like Audrey got in D2.

I can't pay you, but I would listen very intently if you wanted to rant about the MCU!
Well, since you asked! TBH I actually have several main issues.
First, do you know the queen song Another one bite the dust? That is basically the theme for these movie now. They have gotten downright murder happy because (Second issue) the plots of every movie after endgame are exactly the same. They can’t elicit an emotional reaction from the story anymore so they murder a beloved character for emotion points. The plots of recent marvel movies is nothing more than a cinematic hallucination. Once you realize there isn’t anything of substance there you can’t unsee it. I mean, half the characters and all the sets are CGI, so even they aren’t real! If the characters didn’t work themselves to the bone to look ‘hot’ (Which i personally consider debatable. But this isn’t a rant about societal bs beauty standards) then wore tight clothes with an occasional teasing bit of nudity no one would be interested. i suspect you’d get better plots from a bad prono. (and i say that as a sex-replused aroace. So you know how little the recent films have been impressing me if I’m going “I bet a porno would be better.”)
Third, character development. There isn’t any. They have an interesting character? they either reduce them to a flat one note painfully obvious ‘archetype’ or repeat the original character arc or take the easy route of making them evil. Look at the himbo-fication of Thor. If that character had been handled well he’d have realized that he’d been borderline abusive/extremely emotionally neglectful of Loki for years, realized his mistakes, learned to value people different from him and have grown into a character that taught people how to move on from their mistakes. Instead he’s been turned into a blameless human shaped golden retriever who has everyone he cares about graphically murdered in front of him and gets mocked for having a full on mental breakdown.  Look at Loki and Scarlet Witch. Instead of addressing their trauma (Loki found out he was the thing his entire race was violently racist towards and had a mental breakdown, attempted suicide and was tortured by Thanos before being made to lead an invasion. Wanda lost everyone she knew and loved in violently devastating ways) Do they get a natural progression to their characters? NO! Their original arc is in increasingly obvious disguises and they are reduced to one note cartoonish villains.
Four, the interconnectiveness of everything. Like . . . look this thing has been going on for so long some of the people watching it now weren’t even born when the first movies came out! and if you haven’t watched every single movie, show and one off toon ever made since Disney bought Marvel you have no idea what’s going on. You can’t just skip the movies you know you won’t like and just watch the ones you are actually interested in. YOU WON’T UNDERSTAND A SINGLE BLOODY THING IF YOU DON’T WATCH OVER A DECADE OF CONTENT! Now, this has been a raising theme when it comes to tv shows recently, where you have to start at the beginning otherwise you don’t understand it. It annoys me there too. But even Supernatural eventually had an end after fifteen years. The ‘Marval Cinematic Universe’ is going to keep going until doomsday and beyond without stopping. At this point i want someone to pay Disney to just let it stop. Like let it end. Have people talk about and make videos on youtube about ‘the Marvel Generation’ and how insane it was, spoken in past tense. I am a huge fan of the Neverending Story but this story needs to end. It is like a faniction that should have ended on chapter three but is on chapter 178 with no end in sight. The author doesn’t even know what’s going on anymore. Please just let it die while i still care about it enough to say “Aww, man! That’s a bummer.” Please god just make it stop already.

At this point. The only way I'll accept she hulk having Matt Murdock in it is having Matt fly over with the car and then for him to say one dramatic line, and then leave. That's it. That's the only way they can have him in the show and not ruin him. I dont want him in this show at all.

Ok so to preface before anything. I am not Haitian, I do not practice the religion and the most I know of the religion is self research. So I'll mostly be amplifying the voices of poc, Haitians & those who practice the religion or have personal ties like in their family/heritage to the religion.
So going to drop a few images of Alastor with the symbols.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The post is about how happy they are that real veve symbols were not used & only resemble them.
I've seen from a lot of people then even this excuse isn't right either I give over:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Full symbols, depictions, half symbols its still rooted in real veve symbols. Butchering up these symbols to make them less offensive & still using them in show is I have no words to express how disrespectful that is to a closed practiced religion of poc.
Me personally: I find it very disrespectful and insulting. Since the pilot Vivienne was asked, tagged even to remove the veve symbols from Alastor, from creole people, Haitians and those who practiced the religion. And what she did in the final show, took those symbols & basically butchered them up. An f you to all the poc who asked her, made educated threads & posts. She who is Vivienne doesn't care & will use veve symbols regardless of what poc say because she wants it as an aesthetic on her character.
Closing:
"These depictions of Vodou by nonhatians have always been harmful be it Disney or Vivzie"- Vi
"She can't use any parts of the veve at all" -helluvareciepts

I know Disney has a problem with oversaturating their characters in their art, but it's especially a shame when done with The Nightmare Before Christmas.
The main character has imperfect/yellow teeth, but Jack Skellington keeps getting drawn + modeled without them most of the time. Sally has lopsided lips and auburn hair, but they're fixed and usually a bright red instead.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Which is strange to compare to their movie models...Sally is especially butchered coloring-wise.

Disney+, Marvel Studios, Kevin Feige, New Writers— A list of bare minimums that should be in the new Daredevil show:
1. Proper representation of Matt's disability
Hammer home the idea that Matt IS blind. Don't leave any room for ambiguity regarding his blindness. Show him using visual impairment assistive technology. And good detailed touches like the Braille labels on clothes like seen on the Netflix show.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
2. Maintain the good fight choreography
I'd say adopt the iconic hallway fight sequence tradition from the Netflix show but idk if you all can actually pull it off (lol). But at least put as much effort like the Netflix crew did on the action scenes. And bring back Charlie's trusty stunt double, Chris Brewster.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
3. Do not be skimpy on portraying Matt's Catholicism and religiosity
One of the best parts of the Netflix show was Matt and Father Lantom (RIP 😢)'s introspective talks about God and faith. We better still see Matt on confessional booths every other episode and not just have his religion mentioned or alluded to in passing.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
4. Don't butcher Matt's character and personality
These new writers better maintain the complexity of Matt's psyche. And do justice to both his lawyer and vigilante side. Definitely not hold back on his patent good guy assholeness, and most importantly to not forget his whoreness. This man better be written as a slut or else!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
5. ALWAYS BE HORNY
Probably the most important part to y'all horny AF people on here including me. But yeah, these new writers/directors better be as down bad as the ones over on Netflix that managed to write in as much shirtless scenes as they can that at one point Charlie had to strike down some of them lol 💀
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Y'all will actually have a point over the Netflix show if you let Charlie keep his chest hair, but I think that's expecting too much 🤷

Why we love Asha x Starboy
I just watched Wish, and it is because of the lack of meaningful character interaction in the movie. Aside from Asha and Magnifico, there are only so many characters to bounce off with Asha. There are 7 friends, but they're surface-level at best, with one line per character. The same goes for Sabino (Asha's grandfather), Asha's mom, and even the goat! Star in the final movie is a one-note "follow your dreams" character. There is no added dimension to these interactions, making the film feel hollow.
Giving the Star a humanoid appearance and a potential romance with Asha suddenly makes Wish more interesting. By making Star a human, writers are less likely to treat them like a random animal sidekick and more like a human character.
Meaningful character interactions give viewers something to cling to and relate to emotionally. The Disney Renaissance emphasizes romantic subplots and family conflicts for this reason. You can also find this when the main hero interacts with an animal sidekick. They provide the heart of a movie.
As a writer, I'm attracted to romance subplots because, like any relationship, they provide exciting character interactions and emotional investment. I'm beating a dead horse, but just because a princess has a romance arc doesn't mean she isn't empowered. Belle and Mulan are Disney princesses with love interests, yet they are still fully fleshed-out characters. Romance can also thematically enhance a story. Beauty and the Beast would not be the same without a romance between Belle and the Beast.
In the context of Wish, I think Asha already has an animal sidekick with the goat. She only needs one (they already have too many characters with the 7 teens). It is not that animal sidekicks couldn't be compelling characters. Mushu from Mulan is an example of creating entertaining animal sidekicks. He even has a character arc that complements Mulan, the main heroine. However, with Disney standards right now, you can't help but feel they might butcher the animal sidekicks.
Even the OG movie Snow White checks the mark for meaningful character interactions. It is not between the nameless prince and Snow White, but it is with the seven dwarves. Ironically this is where Asha's 7 friends are based off. The most important relationship of Snow White is literally in the title of her movie: Snow White and the Seven Dwarves. Unlike Wish, the reason why they can get away with 7 dwarfs is because the film is centered around the relationship between them and Snow White to avoid bloat.
It doesn't help that Asha and Magnifico themselves feel like bland cutouts. If you compare them to Disney's rosters of heroes and villains, they'd pale in comparison. They have the most interesting interactions but it feels like the bare minimum.
Whenever I look back on a movie, I remember a thought-provoking thematic beat or even a funny character interaction. Wish doesn't leave room for much. The movie feels like an amateur school play they show to grade-schoolers which is a low for Disney.
You know what's sadder?
I wish I could've had that meaningful character interaction with Asha and her grandfather, Sabino. They had something with Asha wanting to grant Sabino's wish but Sabino refused to let it be granted. In the movie, the conflict lasts for about a scene, and then it shifts to granting the wishes of everyone in Rosas.
You can see why the writers toyed with the idea of the Star Boy being a younger version of Sabino. The relationship between Sabino and Asha is the heart of the story.
This imaginary ship buried in concept art gave what the movie lacked: a heart. It is not enough to spew out inspirational messages and call people stars. One should also incorporate humanity.
I have a lot more thoughts on the story, specifically in its thematic beats but that is for another time.

Ninjago Remastered Designs!
Tumblr media
THEY'RE DONE! After months of work!!! They are DOOOOOOOOOOONE. WOOOOOOOOOOO! Lol! Welp, these are my Ninjago designs! Basically, this is my take on the Ninja if they were in a 2d animated cartoon! And yes! I will be drawing more characters. Tumblr butchered the quality, so close ups and design notes are below the cut. They're pretty detailed, so I highly recommend checking them out. Feel free to ask questions about the designs! ⬇️⬇️⬇️ - ✒️🐉
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
When designing these outfits, I tried to take inspiration from the ones in the show. And in terms of art style, drew inspiration from early 2000s cartoons, (Action Adventure ones specifically,) Anime inspired shows, and even a hint of traditional Disney animation. And while I designed them with a 2d cartoon in mind, most of the designs would most likely have to be simplified for them to be used in animation. So let's get started!
Kai: Kai was a pretty fun to work with. I actually didn't plan on giving him a sleeveless outfit. But it happened! And I like it! If you'll notice, the flame pattern on his vest mirrors the pattern on his sister Nya's outfit. I thought that would be a cool detail to include. It was inspired by their March of The Oni outfits. I also made sure to include his scar and bandaid. And gave him reddish brown eyes to signify his elemental power. Him and sister I imagine being Brazilian/Taiwanese. So I hope I captured their ethnicity properly. I'm pretty happy with this design. Especially his hair, which was hard to replicate.
Jay: Jay was a hard one for sure. I wasn't too sure how to vamp up his outfit. So I started by giving him some lightning patterns on his Gi. (At least I think that's what it's called?) And I decided to make it look a little baggy and soft. It just seemed to suit him. I tried something a little more form fitting and didn't look right. Also! A fun detail I included was his half the Yin Yang pendent around his neck! And of course Nya has her half. I imagine him having Irish ancestry, so I gave him pale, freckled skin. And gorgeous curly red hair. (As a fellow red head, I'm very proud.) Overall, I think he turned out pretty adorable. And his face is spot on.
Nya: Nya I pretty much got right on the first try! I just had a really clear vision of her in my head. I gave her a grey outfit with bright, vibrant blue details. The pattern on her Gi is inspired by Koi Scales. And she has her half of the Yin Yang pendent around her neck. I really like this one, because while it is simple, it's beautiful. And I think it reflects her element nicely. The only thing I missed was to give her a symbol like the rest. But overall, I love it! One more thing is that I wanted to give her and Pixal different hair. So when I finally release my Pixal design, you'll see that while they both have ponytails, I gave them different cut and styled ones. Should be neat!
Zane: Zane was the first one of the Ninjas I redesigned! I love how he turned out. I tried to give him a splintered ice effect on his outfit inspired by his Core minifigure and gave him his faithful falcon companion. Falcon has his old greyish purple feathers, but blue icy eyes to match his owner. I also wanted to give Zane flowing sleeves, that would look very majestic waving about in a blizzard wind. He is also incredibly tall. Taller than Cole even! I was inspired by the giant humanoid robots I'd seen in movies. In his cloaking disguise, I imagine him looking German. With blond hair, blue eyes, and light skin. I also like to think Dr Julian was German. (Was this influenced by my German ancestry? Who knows?)
Cole: You would not believe how many times I had to redraw this man's face. Haha! I just could find that sweet spot! That face that perfectly encapsulated his strong, but gentle personality. But I think I did it! His outfit is based on his Oni Trilogy Gi, with orange detailing. And he has his Island ponytail and bandana. I absolutely loved that hair style on him. So I had to use it! And if you'll notice, he has a beautiful tattoo on his right arm, with his symbol in the center. I imagine him being half Maori, from his mother's side. And the tattoo was inspired by Maori tattoos I saw pictures of. I'm not too sure how accurate those images were. But hopefully I hit the mark.
Lloyd: Finally! Our green Ninja Lloyd! His outfit was inspired by two things. Dragons, and his outfit from the Secrets of Forbidden Spinjitsu seasons. I gave him a beautiful golden dragon and cloud pattern on his clothes, a leather arm guard, and shoulder pads. If you look closer, you'll also see he has cat-like dragon eyes which pays homage to his dragon and Oni heritage. I like to think that depending on his emotions, his eyes will go from slits, to big and wide. So they are good indicators for his mood. I also imagine him being Japanese. But his powers give him his classic blond hair and green eyes. I'm very happy with this design. His hair, eyes, and face all look exactly how I see him in my head.
Well, that's all. I hope you enjoyed these designs and notes! I assure you, you will see more of the them.
Bye! - ✒️🐉

Wish 2023 could have been the next Prince of Egypt and here's why:
@chillwildwave reminded me of Prince of Egypt because of their recent post on a villain song rewrite/reimagined.
So I just wanted to say that both are pretty similar in terms of most of the plot and modivations for the character, and the fact that Wish could have been just as good as prince of Egypt, but yk, they butchered it. The 2 movies COULD BE very similar in a good way(if one was done properly)
So lets get started!!!
(this will be a brief overview of both films since I know you guys dont have all day so here)
````````````````````````````````````````````````````
Background on the Prince of Egypt
Tumblr media
Prince of Egypt is an musical adaptation from the story of Mosses from the bible.
So in the movie/story, all the Hebrews are enslaved by the Pharoh of Eygpt. One day, the Hebrew's population started to grow, so to prevent a revolt, the Pharoh sent out his troops to slaughter all of the newborn children by tossing them into the river where they are eaten by crocidiles (this scene was told in the begining and dream sequence of the film. The begining song is called Deliver Us)
Mosses's mother, not wanting her newborn child to face the same fate as the other children, sends her child in a basket into the river "So he Can be free". God protected him from all of the fates the river brought and by fate, landed at the Pharoh's castle, with his wife taking him him.
Mosses grew up under the impression that they where his biological parents and brother to Ramisies (yes my spelling is bad help) until he heard a song that his sister sang (yes he has biological siblings) that his mother sang to him when she brought him to the river. Insert a song and dream sequence, he learns to what Pharroh did those years ago with the Hebrews. And we get a cold chilling response from his "father" : Oh dear Mosses. They were only slaves.
So with this revelation, he realizes how badly they treat the Hebrews. Then, one of the soilders continued beating an old man, so to protect him, Mosses accidently kills him. Mosses wonders the desert, and comes across some travelers. Mosses was welcomed and he learned about God and putting his life "Through Heaven's Eyes". Later on, he gets a message from God for him to go and free the Hebrews from Pharoh. He goes back, expecting his "father" to be the one still in charge, but realizes that it was his brother Ramesies who had taken up the Mantel. His brother is over joyed to see Mosses, but Mosses only asks him to free the Hebrews (After A BANGER: Your Playing with the Big Boys Now). He says no, but it was only the start of the rage of God. Through a sequence called: The Plagues, the ending being all the first born children dies, and only then, he lets the people go.
(Not spoiling the ending since it is a good movie)
Alright thats an overview of Prince of Egypt, now lets look at Wish
````````````````````````````````````````````````````
Background on Disney's Wish 2023
Tumblr media
Okay so the plot is about a guy named Magnifico creating a kingdom where your dreams can become a reality after his home/family was destroyed and he knew how dreams can be destroyed. Kinda why he built the kingdom.
The protagonist, Asha is hoping to be the king's apprentice because she wants her grandfather's wish to be granted since it hasn't been granted yet.
Through some crazy shinanigans, Magnifico says no to Asha because her grandfather's wish to inspire people could cause a revolt. Asha is destroyed by this and complains about it to a plushie-AH uh star (I am not calling that thing Star it is forever gonna be plushie). And the plushie comes down to earth to cause chaos (UM HELP ASHA FREE THE WISHES haha...)
Through some boring parts of the movie, Magnifico opens a magic book and becomes....the villain...
( ̄。。 ̄)...
He starts eating wishes by first eating Asha's mom's wish and he gets stronger but he is mainly after plushie sooo yeahh (the wishes do not boost his powers in any way it is basically like a drug it makes him happy lol)
He then catches plushie and Asha. And through the power of song, he is defeated. Asha becomes the fairy godmother and plushie returns to the sky.
Dang...
(Yes I spoiled the ending because since the movie doesn't earn my respect, just like how Disney does not respect it's audience in a mature way anymore)

How are the Stories similar?
Its kind of simple really, just mainly hinging on the fact that the villains needs to let something go.
For Mosses' case, it is his people, the Hebrews.
For Asha's case, it is the dreams and hopes of Rosas.
However, Wish butchered this so bad that it is kind of ironic in a sense. It was already hard enough to go brief and in depth as I can with Wish because of how bare bones it is.
So some similarities they share is a corrupt overlord (Pharoh and Magnifico) holding something close to them. When threated, however, they react in different ways.
Pharoh puts more work on the Hebrews while Magnifico kinda does nothing??? Eat the wishes I guess after he opens the book is close enough.
Mosses modivation at the start was to make his brother laugh, hense the line in plagues "Once I thought the chance to make you laugh, was all I ever wanted". To freeing his people underneath the corrupt ruling.
"A kingdom should never be built up on the backs of slaves".
Asha's modivations are similar to Mosses, but also not at the same time. Her modivation at the start is legit: "Lets become an apprentice so I can get my grandfather's wish granted" to "oh he wont grant the wish and most of the wishes wont be granted so lets free them all."
It felt like they wanted to lean into the idea that Magnifico is an awful ruler or pratically most of the plot in the Prince of Egypt, but as I established in my brief overview of Wish, he was not a terrible person. He only got worse because of Asha going haywire for not getting what SHE wanted. And I said in the begining of this blog, "The 2 movies COULD BE very similar in a good way(if one was done properly)".
Wish could have been the next Prince of Egypt with just a different concept in mind. It felt like that clearly in the deleted scenes like this one right here:
youtube
We learn that he crushes dreams (which is their life source in this version) when people oppose him.
This could have been explored, if they didn't decide on "It would be cooler if everyone liked Magnifico".
How so?
Well, think of Ramisies before the scene where "all the first born children will die". When Mosses is trying to reconsile with him and change his mind, all he does is: "My father had the right idea of getting rid of YOUR people...AND I WILL FINISH THE JOB". And we get a terrifying shot of all the Hebrew children getting tossed into the river. Showing his stubborness. This scene right here:
youtube
Skip to 3:19 for that scene
What if he get that scene with Magnifico? And change the context?
So lets say, Magnifico takes wishes and either changes them to fit what he wants ( @annymation's idea) or granting ones that are dangerous since the good wishes gives him more power (in my old draft), or we don't know what he does with the wishes, just that he takes them.
Lets go with we don't know what he does with the wishes (so that for anyone who is making a rewrite on wish can just insert their ideas on what they do with the wishes).
In perspective, everyone is living miserably. Going by the same routine, time and time again, with no passion or goal in life. We can say that the trade is: You give up on your dreams for a roof over your head. If we apply that, a lot of parents can sympathize with the people's situation. Many of them have families, or children to take care of. Of course you want your children to be safe from harm, just that you will suffer the cost, and soon, your children will. Its a heart breaking situation since the world is a very dangerous place, and as I said, parent's will do anything to protect their kid "at all costs" (haha see what I did there) ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
So what about Asha here? Well it changes the context to her modivation. She wants her grandfather to experience that spark he did as a teen and to see him finally be happy and not so miserable. SO of course she will want to learn what Magnifico does with the wishes, and applies for apprenticeship.
Now lets skip ahead, to where it could be "Mosses and Ramisies before all first born die" part. Perhaps learning about the wishes inspired Asha to form a revolt. The people are now fighting back and they want to be free more than ever. A scene between Asha and the King, where the King knows what Asha wants, but he is too stubborn to give the wishes back. Even put in the perspective of plushie, he sees it as a threat to him, and depending on what he does with the wishes, can make him need more of the people's wishes more than ever to end plushie's life. You can also say that both the king's men or higher class of overlords (if there are any you decide!) and the people are taking it too far and their fight is causing so much destruction. Both are sympathizing with the situation at hand and suffering because of it (in different ways ofc), but we know who is in the right here. Asha tries to reason with him, and perhaps, Magnifico finally will end it. It can be literally anything, and you can even pull A PRINCE OF EGYPT, where he kills all the newborns or something.
And for proof that this could work, a few weeks ago, I remembered the song: YOUR PLAYING WITH THE BIG BOYS.
The song, felt like a threat. You either comply, or something bad will happen. You are also nothing in context to them since they are all power hungry overlords. You are an insect and they are giants. They'll walk all over you since you are insignificant to them and nothing important. And I applied it to Wish, and it fucking works Disney, YOU SON OF A B-
(╯‵□′)╯︵┻━┻
Anyways, I made a small animatic of it. Not done ofc, I come up with ideas way more than my modivation and time to make or finish them. And it was only "YOUR PLAYING WITH THE BIG BOYS NOW" part since idk I just imagined that scene more vividly lol
o(* ̄▽ ̄*)o
If anything, you can say that they make an image of a dragon to scare Asha (and star boy but they dont know that) to make them do what they want and fall in line with what everyone in Rosas does. They can't transform into one, they just use their talent in magic to show off pretty visuals to scare people. (LIKE PRINCE OF EGYPT)
youtube
And it works. Star Boy is horrified and he now realizes how bad the situation is. If these people gets his powers, EVERYONE IS AT RISK. PEOPLE CAN DIE BECAUSE A STAR GOT TOO CURIOUS OF EARTH AND HIS GENEROSITY LEAD HIM CLOSER TO HIS DOOM AND THE DOOM OF ASHA'S PEOPLE. This horrifies Asha because you can say, she still believed that these people can change. In my version at least, Asha is adopted into the royal family and is a sucker and more forgiving to them since THEY ARE HER CARETAKERS. And when realizing that EVERYTHING SHE KNEW ABOUT HERSELF AND THE KINGDOM was a lie, she had HOPE that perhaps they can change because of her. But they didn't. Her parents saw her as, "You're against me? Fine then. You will suffer just like your real parents did." But they don't harm her here. My idea was, is that this was a threat to her, to the kingdom to Rosas. "You don't obey, you will suffer concequences. But, you were our daughter, we cared for you, this is just a phase, she will get over it and be more compliant later. But for now, Rosas will suffer because of you." This gives depth to the situation and slightly sympathetic traits given to her adoptive parents. They grew attached to Asha, but now? Her rising up? It is outrageous and they take offense to that lol.
It is very similar to the original and it is slightly intended since I love those songs way too much hehe (✿◡‿◡)
````````````````````````````````````````````````````
Anyways, thats why I think Wish is almost the next Prince of Egypt. I do firmly believe though, it has more similarities with Hunchback of Notre Dome, and I also love that movie for it's own good too
ヾ(⌐■_■)ノ♪
But this was just an oppertunity to show how bad Wish is compared to other classics like this movie, but it also clashes with Hunchback of Notre Dome, so if you wanna see the similarities with that just let me know hehe
now ya'll have a good day or night (☞゚ヮ゚)☞
