society if instead of watching over the Fredbear suit and waiting for Michael to move, Ev and the ghost kids literally picked him up and threw him in the dumpster outside
#Except mike gets up and walks back in so he can keep watch over evan#This adds to ev and the ghost kids' confusion because... how long has the monster been able to move?#And why hasn't it come after them yet? Why is it just... sitting there?#Evan insists michael has to be planning something and tells everyone to stay vigilant#They have no idea what mike is capable of. Not like him.#Evan knows that when something seems too good to be true-- it is.#Except the longer they keep up their vigils (and the more they#Try throwing out the suit only for mike to come back in) the more frustrated#The kids get. Finally evan starts screaming at the suit to just DO something already!! Stop just sitting there!#You want to hurt us! I KNOW you do!#But then one of the ghost kids points out that. Mike isn't going to move.#The only time he ever moves is to come back in and just sit there quietly. Almost like... almost like how evan#Acted in all the years before mike came. A silent protector.#Evan disagrees with the suggestion vehemently.#But... after months turn into a year... evan can't help but think.#His big brother is right there and isn't trying to hurt him ('yet' a voice in his head hisses).#Maybe one day evan sits across from the suit and asks in a small voice if mike really is watching out for him.#I don't know if mike would answer or not#Maybe he doesnt. Maybe evan starts crying and curls up#In the suit's arms and whispers ''i hate you'' over and over as he waits for an answer#Silent protector au#evan afton#michael afton

september 9: ocean 1,118 words @rosekiller-microfic
Beach day! Just them being stupid and soft and in love :,)
Evan stretches his arms and legs languidly across the beach towel he's laying on. The fabric is littered with warm sand that has long since fallen off of his body, leaving behind patches of sunscreen where it clashed with the water. He can smell the salt drying in his hair, a breeze hitting his face as he squints at the sky.
It's days like today that make Evan believe in perfection—or, as close to perfection as something can get. The weather is lovely, bright sun and a cloudless sky, a cooling wind coming in from the west. The ocean waves lap against the shore in small swells, cold but bearable for swimming in the heat, and the sound of the water is a calming lull, set to draw people into it's shimmering depths.
He can hear children laughing with their parents, splashing and making sandcastles without a care in the world. It almost makes him ache for the childhood he never got—his family too hung up on stuffy suits and formal dinners to register what their kids might want—but he's past that now. That life is far behind him and not once has Evan ever looked back. Besides, he's far too content to sit and dwell on the past right now. He'd much rather bask in everything the coast has to offer him, and continue to ignore whoever keeps shouting his name in the distance.
He smiles to himself. Everything is perfect.
"Evan!"
He internally groans and closes his eyes. Maybe whoever is yelling will think he's asleep and decide not to bother him.
"Evann!!"
The voice is getting closer now. He thought everyone went to get snacks? Who is yelling? Why are they yelling?
"EVAN!" Before he knows it the voice is directly above him, and an entire bottle of water is being dumped on his face.
He startles with a very unmanly yelp, his eyes flying open to find Barty keeled over in laughter, water bottle in hand, and Regulus standing next to him looking rather irritated. "What the fuck?!" Evan asks, wiping the dripping water from his cheeks.
"What do you mean, what the fuck, we've been calling you for two minutes," Regulus huffs, taking a small step away from Barty as he chokes out the rest of his laughs.
Evan glares at the pair of them. "Why?"
"They ran out of cookies and cream," Barty shrugs, laughter still evident in the way his eyes are lit up.
"You–" he sighs, running fingers through his tangled wet hair. "You dumped water on me because they ran out of my favorite ice cream?" Sometimes Evan can't believe he fell in love with this man.
"We didn't know what else you wanted," Regulus says flatly. Evan can tell he's trying to hold back a smile. Asshole.
Evan scoffs, getting up from his now soaked towel and grumbling something along the lines of been my friends for 12 years and can't even remember what ice cream I like.
"Look, my fucking hair is all wet again. I just spent an hour drying off and you ruined it," he pouts, shoving a finger harshly into Barty's chest; they both know there's no bite beneath his words.
Barty snorts, taking Evan's hand in his as they walk towards the small ice cream shop located right off the beach. "You should've seen your face baby."
Evan's cheeks heat at the term of endearment. He can't remember when Barty started calling him that, but one day it appeared and never left, a new staple in Barty's 'Evan vocabulary'. Evan can't say he minds, in fact he's grown rather fond of the name.
"Dickhead," he grumbles in retaliation. "You're mean."
"Mmm, but that's why you love me." Barty presses a quick and sloppy kiss to his cheek before he can duck his head.
He rolls his eyes but returns the favor. He can taste the sweat and salt clinging to Barty's skin.
Regulus interrupts with a loud gagging noise. "You two are so fucking weird," he says, wrinkling his nose in disgust.
They get their ice cream without any more hiccups, Evan settling for salted caramel instead and Barty for an obscure chocolate combination. He doesn't even know why they get their own flavors really, him and Barty always trade halfway through—but he supposes that's the fun of it.
The four of them—it's just him, Barty, Regulus, and James today—spend the rest of the afternoon in and out of the water. They sunbathe, James hits a volleyball around—even roping Barty into a game or two, something Evan never would've seen coming—and Evan manages to carry Barty's lanky frame all the way to the shoreline to toss him in. It was revenge, okay?
By the time the sun is setting the two couples are sprawled a short distance from each other, watching the pink and orange hues dance along the horizon before the stars come out to play.
Evan has his back to Barty's chest, resting between his legs with both their hands entwined over Evan's stomach. Every so often Barty presses a kiss to Evan's temple.
It's rare for the two of them to have such tender moments like this, especially in the company of others. Usually they reserve their soft touches and quiet whispers for the tranquility of the morning or weekends at home, but it's a nice change to be so open with vulnerable affection.
"Today was fun," Evan yawns, his body finally catching up with the day's exhaustion.
Barty hums in agreement. “I’m gonna get you back for throwing me in the ocean though,” he murmurs, nipping at Evan’s earlobe.
“Excuse me, that was my payback.”
“Just saying," he lulls in a sing-song voice. "You better watch your back Ev.”
"I'll be sure to sleep with one eye open."
They both laugh at that, content and serene in the little bubble they've created. Evan tries to snuggle further into Barty's chest but to no avail. Barty lets him drop against the towel, swinging himself over Evan's body so his face hovers inches above his.
Evan raises an eyebrow. Barty's grin is devilish when it breaks across his face. He leans down and slots their lips together for a quick kiss, one filled with sun and ice cream and salty air.
When Barty speaks it's low, just for the two of them. A quiet I love you exchanged between an inhale and exhale. Three words that always open the floodgates to Evan's guarded heart.
The day ends with the two of them curled up on their sides, legs tangled and clothes dusted with sand as the last sliver of light dips below the water.
Evan couldn't ask for anything better.

It Isn’t in my Blood
Fandom: 9-1-1 Prompt:  Inspired by @kitkatpancakestack‘s “what if Buck finds the pamphlet“ post Pairing: Implied future Buddie - Evan Buckley (Buck) x Eddie Diaz Word Count: 2,330 Summary:    SPOILERS - A 5x01 missing scene - Buck finds the pamphlet on anxiety and panic attacks given to him by the cardiologist at the hospital and encourages Eddie to tell him what happened. Eddie breaks down and admits that maybe not everything is okay.
Beta’d by @firemedicdiaz Thank you babe <3

Tumblr media
“I’ll just be a minute, you staying here?”  Eddie asked, hopping out of the truck and looking over at Buck.
“Sure, sounds good,” Buck said, yawning.  Eddie nodded and closed the door, hurrying up the sidewalk as Buck settled back in his seat.  It had been such a long, chaotic shift and Buck was exhausted; Eddie just had to drop off a form at Christopher’s school and then they were going for breakfast.  Buck figured he had time for a short nap and shut his eyes, but sleep wouldn’t come.
After a while it became apparent that Eddie was going to be longer than he’d said, and Buck was getting restless.  He grew bored quite easily of late, so he began poking around Eddie’s truck - changing the radio station, fiddling with the air freshener.  Absently, Buck hit the button on the dashboard that opened the glove box in front of him and looked down into it, wondering if there were any travel brochures left in there from a previous road trip that he could look at.   Instead, he pulled out a very different kind of pamphlet that looked like it had been shoved in carelessly and as he read the front, his eyebrows contracted with a small frown.
Understanding Anxiety and Panic Attacks - Recognize the Signs and Symptoms
Underneath the pamphlet were a couple of folded sheets of paper.  Upon quick inspection, Buck saw that they were discharge papers from the hospital dated a few days earlier with Eddie’s name in the patient field.
Buck’s heart squeezed painfully as he stared at the slightly crumpled papers and then back at the pamphlet, realizing what it must all mean.  Buck had been startled earlier in the shift when that doctor had called out to Eddie, but Eddie had been very resistant to talking about his trip to the hospital.  Buck had dropped it for the time being as they had been chaotically busy the entire shift, but he had always intended to grill Eddie about it later.  Now, he suddenly understood what must have happened.  He knew from experience how scary panic attacks could be, how they could feel like a heart attack, especially if a person had never had one before.
He remembered how uncomfortable Eddie had looked when Buck had tried to confront him.  Buck knew how much Eddie relied on everyone thinking he was this stoic, unmoving rock, because it allowed him to hide his feelings and keep everything bottled up.  Buck was well aware that he himself and Bobby were the only two people that Eddie ever opened up to, and it made Buck’s heart hurt as he considered how shaken up Eddie must have been by the whole incident to be so resistant to telling him about it.
Buck sighed, wishing he had known, thinking about how he could try to help Eddie as he skimmed the pamphlet.  He wanted to help, hating the idea that Eddie could be going through this alone.  He distinctly remembered how Eddie had tried to drag Buck out of his horrible depression and anxiety after the fire truck had crushed his leg and he wanted to be there for Eddie in turn.  Buck knew that Eddie had Ana, but if Buck was right about their relationship, he suspected that Eddie would be uncomfortable talking to her about his emotions.  He’d always had the feeling that while Eddie clearly liked Ana and they got along well, their relationship wasn’t particularly deep and Buck knew that Eddie had to really trust someone before he would open up.
Lost in his thoughts, Buck was still looking at the pamphlet in one hand, the discharge papers held loosely in the other, when Eddie returned.
“Alright, that’s all done, let’s go t-- Buck, what the hell?”
Buck jumped as the driver’s door opened and Eddie swung himself inside, only to freeze when he saw what Buck was holding and reading through.  Buck started to stammer as Eddie snatched the papers and pamphlet out of his hands and threw them back into the glove box, snapping it shut and staring straight ahead, his chest rising and falling quickly, his jaw set.
“Eddie, I-I’m sorry, I wasn’t trying to snoop, I just found that in the glove box and I couldn’t help looking at it…”
“It’s fine.  It’s nothing.”  Eddie’s voice was clipped, and Buck could tell he felt vulnerable and was not pleased about it.
“I mean, it’s not nothing,” Buck replied cautiously in a coaxing tone.  He hadn’t been planning on talking to Eddie about this before breakfast, but then there was no time like the present.    “Is this why you were in the hospital the other day?”
Eddie shot him an annoyed look, because it was obvious that Buck had seen the discharge papers so the question was redundant, but then he sighed and nodded.
              “Yeah.  I’m fine though.”
“Eddie… you’ve been through so much.  There’s no shame in having a panic attack--” Buck began, but Eddie started the truck and cut through his words sharply.
              “I don’t panic.”
Buck frowned as Eddie pulled away from the curb and began to drive without saying another word.  Deciding to give him some space for a few so he could collect his thoughts, Buck stayed silent as they moved through the streets.   To his surprise, Eddie pulled up in front of Buck’s apartment building and parked, still looking straight ahead.
“I… thought we were going for breakfast?”  Buck asked slowly, not sure what to expect.  Eddie seemed to steel himself, then glanced towards the building and shut off the truck.
“I know you’re not going to let this go, and I don’t want to do it in public.  Let’s go up to your loft.”
Eddie’s voice was gruff, but Buck was grimly pleased that he wasn’t resisting.  Buck knew that Eddie knew Buck would not let this slide, would not let it rest until he was sure that Eddie was okay.  Taking his lead, Buck agreed and hopped out of the truck, following Eddie up to his building and then leading the way into his apartment.
“Let’s get this over with,” Eddie said in a resigned voice as he moved into the kitchen and leaned against the counter, Buck pulling himself up and sitting on the counter across from him.  “What do you want to know?”
“What happened?” Buck asked simply.  “I know you went to the hospital, you were seen by a cardiologist, and now you have a pamphlet on panic attacks.  What actually happened?”
Eddie gnawed the inside of his lip, still refusing to look at Buck as he mulled over what to say.  He was staring at the lower part of the counter in front of him, Buck’s shoe dangling in his line of sight, though he wasn’t seeing much.  All he could see in his mind was that damn suit store, the feeling of the tightness in his chest making him feel claustrophobic and deeply uncomfortable.
“I don’t know.  We were trying on suits, and then I just… collapsed.  I thought I was having a heart attack,” Eddie summarized it as succinctly as he could, but he knew it wasn’t going to be enough for Buck.
“Okay, but what triggered that?” Buck asked, his voice gently prodding.  “Did something upset you, or…?”
Eddie shifted uncomfortably, and Buck’s lips curled in a small, sad smile.
“Eddie, it’s just me.  You can talk to me.  You know you can trust me.  Please tell me what happened.”
For a brief moment, Eddie lifted his eyes and met Buck’s gaze.  Buck’s expression was earnest, concerned, and Eddie knew he was right.  If there was anyone in this world he could trust, it was Buck.  Still, he hated talking about his emotions, especially ones he felt like he couldn’t control.  And yet, he felt like if he didn’t share it with someone he may explode because he was starting to seriously wonder what was going on in his brain.
“I… you know I’m not good at this,” Eddie muttered, and Buck nodded.
“I know, but… you were there for me when everything with my parents was going on.  You told me it was okay to feel what I was feeling, and to share it.  I want that for you, too,”  Buck told him gently, and Eddie sighed.  He felt like a hypocrite; he had told Buck those things, and he had meant it.  But for some reason when it came to himself, he had different rules.
“The last time Chris and I wore suits was at Shannon’s funeral,” Eddie said, averting his gaze once more as he began to speak.  “I guess that was already putting me on edge.  I couldn’t stop thinking about her death and everything that had happened right before she died.  I just wanted to get out of there.”
Eddie paused but Buck didn’t say anything, not wanting to interrupt.  Buck had a feeling that if Eddie stopped talking he wouldn’t start again so he waited patiently, keeping his mouth shut.
“I think Chris was feeling it, too, but I was too distracted to notice.  And then… then the sales guy called Ana Chris’s mom.”
Buck tilted his head to the side, looking over at Eddie, slightly confused.  Eddie and Ana had been together for nearly six months, it was only natural that at some point she would be mistaken for Chris’s mom.  But Eddie seemed shaken and Buck wasn’t sure he was going to continue.
“What happened then?” Buck asked quietly, trying to gently prompt Eddie to speak again without spooking him.  Eddie had gotten a somewhat haunted look in his eyes and Buck could tell he was getting upset.  He was tempted to tell Eddie to stop, not wanting him to be distraught, but he sensed Eddie really needed to get it out there, so Buck would do everything he could to coax it out.
“I- I genuinely don’t know,” Eddie said, shaking his head.  “Hearing that, it just… it intensified my thoughts about Shannon, and thinking of Ana as Chris’s mom is just - just so far beyond where we are in our relationship, and I- I…”
Eddie was starting to get visibly upset and Buck slipped off the counter, moving over to stand beside him in case he needed support.
“It made me realize that m-maybe I don’t want-- maybe things aren’t going so great, or something.  I don’t know.”
“And then?” Buck prompted gently, feeling his heart break as Eddie glanced at him, clearly upset.
“And then… I don’t know.  I don’t panic,” Eddie said stubbornly, though as he thought back to what had happened, he let out a long, unhappy sigh.  “But… I guess I panicked.  I don’t know.  I felt overwhelmed, and my chest got tight and I couldn’t breathe… I got really dizzy and fell over, I thought I was having a heart attack.”
“Panic attacks can be really scary,” Buck told him, trying to reassure him.  “They can definitely feel like heart attacks.”
“I don’t panic,” Eddie repeated, scowling at the floor.  “I never panic.  Not in the military, not when Shannon died, not when you nearly died several times…”
“Eddie, you’ve been through a lot,” Buck reasoned, trying to brush off the last part of the sentence, as though it wasn’t a big deal to him that his near-death experiences were one of the things Eddie considered most upsetting.  “Do you think the shooting could be part of this?  Or is it just your relationship?”
Eddie shifted uncomfortably again, not responding, and as Buck watched him, he saw tears start to pool in Eddie’s eyes, despite Eddie continually refusing to make eye contact.
“Are you okay?” Buck asked quietly, reaching out and touching him, gripping Eddie’s forearm lightly in a gesture of support.   This one little touch seemed to have caused him to come undone, however, and Buck saw his expression contort, his lips pressed together tightly as he tried and failed to stop himself crying.
“No,” Eddie finally blurted out, seemingly completely against his will.  “No, I’m not okay.”
Buck’s heart broke and he immediately reached out to embrace Eddie, giving him a chance to pull away if he wanted.  When he didn’t, Buck wrapped his arms around him and held him as Eddie choked into his shoulder, trying desperately to stop himself from outright sobbing.  It was rare that Buck had seen Eddie cry - he hadn’t seen it since Shannon’s death - and Buck wished he could take Eddie’s pain away, wished he could make the world right for him again.
After a few moments Eddie squirmed in his arms and Buck got the message that he was uncomfortable so he pulled away, but he didn’t go far.  Eddie seemed determined to not meet his gaze, furiously wiping at his eyes, and Buck gently rubbed his back, sensing that he really wanted comfort but was trying to stop himself from allowing it.  They stood like that for a while, until Eddie’s attempts at stopping his tears dissolved and he took a shaky breath, letting them slip down his cheeks as he pulled himself together.
“It’s okay to not be okay sometimes.  You’re going to get through this,” Buck told him, his hand stilling in the middle of Eddie’s back.  “And I’m gonna help you get through it, if that’s what you want.”
Eddie swallowed, sniffing, as he listened to Buck speak.  He’d always gone through things alone.  He’d always thought that was the best way to do it.  But in that moment, standing there, knowing he had Buck’s full love and support behind him, Eddie started to wonder if maybe having Buck at his side would be a much better option than going it alone.   Eddie nodded slowly, glancing at Buck for a moment before looking away, nodding again.
“Yeah,” Eddie took a shaky breath and looked over at Buck, feeling the tiniest flicker of hope in his heart.  “That’s what I want.”

Pairing: Professor Erwin x Fem! Reader, Sasha x Connie
Word Count: 4K
Part 2
“Have you ever seen a man that good-looking?” You hummed at Sasha’s comment, not even bothering to look up from your screen to see who she was referring to. “I mean, wow! He’s like a greek god or something.”
Connie rolled his eyes in amusement at his girl’s rambles. “He does have nice eyebrows,” he joined in.
She whipped her head towards Connie with a dumbfounded smile. “Right?! He could probably cut someone with those cheekbones.”
With a sigh, you looked up from your laptop, finally indulging the two. “Who’s the so-called Greek god,” you asked in an unamused tone. Your eyes followed Sasha’s finger through the fairly empty coffee shop until they landed on a man sitting alone by the window.
Sasha was right, which didn’t often happen unless it involved food. He was intimidatingly perfect, chiseled from his face to his body. The sunlight hung around him like a cloak, providing an angelic glow that shadowed his strong cheekbones and jawline. He leaned casually in the chair, his large frame towering over the plastic structure as his arm rested on the table. His hand loosely held onto the cup in front of him, ever ready to take another sip. His other hand held a book in the air. The book looked small in his hands like it was merely a phone.
Your breath hitched in your throat as he glanced up from his book, giving you a perfect view of his face. You couldn’t believe your eyes. More accurately, you couldn’t believe the cerulean eyes and incredibly thick eyebrows you saw. “You’re shitting me,” you breathed in disbelief. Sasha and Connie turned to face you with curious expressions. You bit back a girlish smile and shook your head, “it’s nothing.” You shrugged off their unconvinced looks and quickly added, “I just, uh, I used to have him as a teacher.”
Sasha’s eyes practically bulged out of her head at your words, “you’re telling me you had that-” she gestured to the man across the room, “- for a teacher, and I’m just now hearing about this?! How’d you even focus? What’d he teach? Was he always this good-looking? Does he still teach?” Connie opened his mouth to interject, but Sasha cut him off by placing her finger on his lips. “No, I’m going to Mystery inc. this and get to the bottom of this. She’s been withholding valuable information!”
You let out a chuckle and ducked your head in embarrassment. “It’s not that big of a deal,” you trailed off. “It was years ago. He probably doesn’t even remember me.” You tried to sound as carefree as possible despite the butterflies at the thought.
“That’s not what I-” Sasha quickly shut her mouth as another voice joined the conversation.
“I thought it was you,” a smooth husky voice cut in. You looked up to see the greek god smiling gently at you. His thick eyebrows knitted together nervously when you didn’t reply after a moment. “Y/n, right?”
Your cheek warmed as your name fell from his lips. It fell from his lips so naturally like it belonged there, filling you with an indescribable warmth. “Mr. Smith,” you breathed as a giddy smile formed on your lips. “It’s been a while.” You wet your lips as you not so subtly looked him up and down. He was a lot more muscular now than he was a few years ago. He had practically doubled in size since you last saw him. The rolled-up sleeves of his off-white button-up shirt clung to his arms desperately. A few buttons were left open, allowing you to catch a glimpse of his collarbone.
Sasha was right. He was nothing short of a greek god. He was enough to make statues envious.
The worry in Erwin’s face dissipated into a dreamy grin, “far too long.” You looked exactly like he remembered you, gorgeous. He cleared his throat as he looked down at the book in his hand. “I was passing by and saw you,” his icy blue eyes met yours. “I was going to ask if you would like to catch up, but I see you’re busy.”
“She’d love to,” Connie quickly answered for you, nudging Sasha under the table.
“Yeah, don’t worry about us,” Sasha stammered as she rose from her seat. “We had things planned anyway.”
“Right,” you drawled, turning your attention towards the couple that was preparing to leave.
“Yeah, so we’ll see ya later,” Connie hurriedly responded. His words spilled out like water from a broken dam as he gathered your stuff for you. You opened your mouth to protest, but you knew anything you said would only fall on deaf ears. Connie stood up and walked off hand and hand with Sasha.
You could hear their mischievous giggles until they were finally out of sight. You shook your head with a chuckle before looking back up at Erwin. “Well, Mr. Smith, it looks like you’re in luck. My schedule just so happened to free up.” You shrugged, flashing him a gentle smile, “what a coincidence.”
“Looks like it was meant for us to catch up,” Erwin remarked with a nervous chuckle. He offered his hand to you, helping you out of your seat. He tucked his book under his arm, freeing his other hand so he could grab your bag for you before handing it to you.
A bashful smile graced your lips at his actions as you mumbled a quiet ‘thank you.’ You had always pictured him as quite a gentleman, but his chivalrous acts melted your heart. You walked by his side quietly until you reached a nearby park. Erwin led you under a tree, stopping you so he could lay his jacket on the ground for you to sit on.
“Hope you’re not trying to impress me, Mr. Smith,” you giggled, sitting down on his suit jacket. Your hands absentmindedly busied themselves, smoothing out the wrinkles in his coat.
“Just doing what feels right.” He chortled as he sat beside you. “And it’s just Erwin.”
“Alright, just Erwin,” you joked in a silky voice.
He laughed his first real laugh of the day, the sound coming from deep with his stomach. “Still as witty as ever.” His ocean eyes never left your face once, too stunned to look anywhere else.
He could still remember the first time he laid eyes on you. You took his breath away from the very beginning. Every part of you intrigued him, from your looks to your brain. The way the sun shined off your melanin skin made you look like nothing short of a goddess in his eyes. The golden highlight was almost too much for him to take. There was a glow about you that he couldn’t find anywhere else no matter how hard he looked. It didn’t matter if you were outside or under the dead fluorescent lights of the classroom, you were a star, demanding attention without ever really trying.
“Wow,” he breathed quietly after a moment. “You haven’t changed a bit.”
You giggled shyly and rolled your eyes. “Wish I could say the same about you. You look like you could give Chris Evans a run for his money.” You enjoyed the small blush spreading across his cheeks. “I’m serious. The Mr. Smith- er, Erwin I knew wasn’t as,” you trailed off, growing too embarrassed to continue. You looked down at your pants instead, picking at the threads.
Erwin was thankful you stopped yourself from continuing. He didn’t think his cheeks could handle any more compliments from you. Had you continued, he probably would’ve ended up looking like a tomato. “Thank you.” He scratched the back of his neck embarrassedly.
You fought back a cheeky smile as you noticed him timidly look away. Despite his outer appearance, he was a big softie. It was like being next to the big friendly giant. “So, what do you do for a living nowadays? You still a teacher?”
“I am actually, they made me one of the official creative writing professors. It doesn’t leave much free time for writing anymore, but I love it nonetheless.” He smiled wistfully as he watched the people walk past. A few quiet moments passed before he brought his attention back to you. “Y’know, I’ve seen a lot of bright students come and go, but none have been quite as amusing as you.” Erwin bit the inside of his cheek, hoping he wasn’t being too forward.
You shrugged off his comment, oblivious to their hinting undertone, “we were a good class and your first class. Of course, we’re going to leave an impression on you.”
He hummed thoughtfully in reply as if that wasn’t what he was getting at. “What about you? What’d you end up doing?”
“I guess you can say I took after my favorite teacher and became a writer.” You glanced at him through the corner of your eye, gauging his reaction.
“I was your favorite teacher?” Erwin couldn’t help the bashful smile that forced its way onto his face.
“Wow,” you dragged out dramatically with a teasing smile. You met Erwin’s steady gaze and playfully pushed his arm. It took every ounce of self-control not to leave your hand resting on his bicep. You pushed the thought aside, choosing to continue to tease him instead. “Someone’s cocky! You aren’t the only teacher I had who wrote.”
“Then who, if I may ask, was it?”
“Just some teacher, you probably wouldn’t know them. Y’know big campus and all.” You shrugged nonchalantly.
“Right,” Erwin drawled out with an amused smile. “Well, just in case you ever need some help or a writing buddy-,” he fished around in his pockets before pulling his phone out, “-maybe I should give you my number.” His eyes flashed down to his phone. “Just assuming your favorite professor is busy or anything.”
You chewed on your lip, fighting back a playful smile. “Of course, there’s no such thing as too many connections.” Erwin hummed in response, handing you his phone. Your breath caught in your throat as his fingers gently brushed against yours.
“Ah,” you exclaimed once you caught sight of the time, “crap! I told him I told Eren I wouldn’t be late again.” You groaned, handing back the phone as you scrambled to your feet. “I’m sorry I have to go,” you sent Erwin an apologetic smile. “It was really nice catching up. We should do it again sometime! Ugh, hopefully, Armin is there to make sure  he doesn’t kill me.”
Erwin opened his mouth to remind you about the phone but decided against it at the last minute. “Be safe,” he called out to you as you ran off. He wasn’t even sure you had heard him, probably too caught up in rushing to hear clearly. His eyes followed your frame until it disappeared in the crowded streets. A disappointed sigh fell from his lips. Letting you leave the second time wasn’t any easier than the first. He thought maybe this time would be different. This time he would have the courage to ask you to stay without any restrictions.
He chuckled at himself as he stood up and gathered his things. Here he was pitying himself over the fact that you had left again. Yet, fate had brought you together twice already. If he had the chance to see you again, he promised himself that he would let you walk away so easily. After all, they say third times the charm.
***
“What is it,” Levi asked, earning a quiet hum from Erwin. He took a sip of tea before continuing. “You keep scanning the room like you’re looking for someone,” he noted. “You’ve barely paid attention to any conversation. Plus,” Levi set his cup down before leaning his chin on his hand, “you made us drive thirty minutes to go to a coffee shop even though you have one walking distance from your house. So, what’s so special about this place?” He leaned back in his chair, resting his elbow on the back of it. “Cause apparently, it’s not the coffee.”
Erwin looked down at his still full cup of coffee, which was now lukewarm at best. He chuckled embarrassedly, hoping the sudden warmth he was experiencing was just his imagination. His order was long forgotten, his mind too preoccupied with thoughts of you. “Guess I’ve been caught,” he smiled embarrassedly.
“You’re kidding right,” Sasha yelled at you as you walked through the door. “You left Mr. Perfect without giving him your number.  To go be with Eren?” She looked to Connie with a baffled expression for support. “Am I the only one who sees how stupid that was?”
“Relax already,” you sighed. You had already gotten this speech before over text. You got it repeatedly, actually, at least once every day for the past week. “I know. I wasn’t thinking-.”
“Oh, I know,” she cut you off. “That’s like you having a perfectly juicy steak handed to you, just for you to reject it for a cold chicken nugget.”
“Eren is cute in his own way,” you tried to defend him only to be completely ignored.
“Well, Armin is more like a steak too, just a little one,” Connie chimed in as he read the menu.
“True. Wait, no, that’s not the point.” She stopped mid-rant to tell the cashier her order. “The point is she had-.”
“Yeah, yeah, I know.” You paused to put in your order before following Sasha to your usual table. “I left Erwin to go meet up with Eren, who was fucking late anyways.”
“Yeah, sure, no worries. No need to pitch in or offer; I got it,” Connie grumbled as he paid. He trailed behind you and Sasha, plopping down in his usual spot with a childish huff.
“Thank you, lovebug,” Sasha cooed, pecking his cheek. “You’re the best, unlike some people.” She glared playfully at you from the corner of her eye.
You sighed melodramatically, practically rolling your eyes into the back of your head. “How long are you going to hold this over me?”
“She’ll think about the answer to that while you go get our drinks,” Connie answered for her with a devilish smirk.
“Wow,” you drawled with a feigned hurt expression, “you too, Connie?” You shook your head disappointedly, “can’t trust no one.” You begrudgingly walked over to the counter where three drinks sat. You nearly dropped the cup in your hands as a familiar voice spoke up behind you.
“Mind if I give you a hand?”
“Erwin,” you gasp, jumping harder than you’d like. The scalding tea on your skin left little time for you to feel embarrassed. “Ah,” you hissed under your breath as you quickly placed the cup back on the counter. “Fuck.”
“Apologies,” Erwin quickly stepped in beside you, “I didn’t mean to scare you.” Without thinking, he took your hand into his own, cradling it like you were made of glass. His warm hands were nothing in comparison to the rising heat in your cheeks as he gently wiped your hand with a napkin. “I just wanted to say ‘hi,’” he continued in a low bashful voice.
You couldn’t help the soft giggles that tumbled from your lips. There he was, being a big friendly giant again. You looked up at him for the first time, watching the way his brows furrowed with concern. “Well, I’m glad you did.” You gave his hand a grateful squeeze, “wasn’t sure if I’d get to see you again. I definitely need all the help I can get with my new project.”
“I- uh, well,” he stumbled over his words, quickly retracting his hand from yours. He carefully grabbed all three cups. “Where to?” He felt childish getting this flustered over just being around you. The small smile on your face was enough to send his heart into overtime.
You plucked your cup from his hand, gingerly taking a sip. With a nod, you led him to your table.
“Took you long en-ah!” Sasha’s eyes bulged out of her head as her eyes landed on the towering figure behind you. “What the hell,” she exclaimed, causing a few curious glances to be cast in her direction. “I- you,” she focused her gaze on you, “how’d you manage to find the greek god again?”
Your eyebrows shot up more in embarrassment than in surprise. Sasha was never once for subtleties, always the most outspoken one of the group. You set your cup down with a sigh. “I’m sorry about her,” you turned to him with an apologetic. “Erwin meet Sasha and Connie-,” you took their cups from his hands and set them on the table, “-Sasha and Connie meet Erwin.”
Connie nodded in acknowledgment, “feel free to sit with us.” You could tell he was trying to play it cool for your sake. Truth be told, Sasha had him just as invested in the man as she was. It probably wasn’t the healthiest, but it damn sure is fun. Who needed reality tv when they could just watch you?
Erwin could feel your hopefully expectant gaze focus on him, yet his eyes remained trained on Connie. Probably to keep him from turning any redder. He was already on the verge of becoming a tomato as it is. “I actually came here with a friend.”
“Invite him over,” Sasha blurted out. She ignored the way you momentarily glared daggers at her for pushing the subject. “The more, the merrier.”
They both looked like they had turned to putty as Erwin chuckled quietly. If you didn’t know any better you would’ve thought they were the ones with a crush on him. Not that you had a crush on him. You just liked admiring the man and being around him. “Guys-.”
“So this is why you’ve been dragging me here every day,” a cold, unfamiliar voice cut in. His voice alone was enough to send chills down your spine. So much so that you nearly missed that he said Erwin was coming here every day. Even Sasha and Connie straightened up under his presence. “Interesting. Mind if I take a seat?”
You turned to the man, catching his piercing eyes finish looking you up and down. He was shorter and leaner than Erwin, but something about his presence made him seem like the more intimidating of the two. “Y-yeah, sure.” You paused for a while, allowing his words to register in your mind.
“Everyone, meet Levi,” Erwin broke the silence as he took a seat next to you. “Levi, meet Sasha, Connie, and Y/n.”
“So you’ve been coming here every day,” you blurted out, getting the attention of everyone. You waited for an answer but only received a bashful smile. Your mind was moving a mile a minute. You were sure you were making a bigger deal of this than necessary.
“Starting to think he doesn’t come here for the drinks,” Levi said smugly, answering for Erwin. “Or maybe I’m just imagining things,” he mumbled into his cup.
You took a seat between Levi and Erwin, your eyes never leaving his frame.
“Y’know, I like this place a lot,” Sasha chimed in, barely able to hide her cheeky smile. “But I don’t think the scenery is great enough to make me come here every day.”
“I’ve definitely had better coffee,” Connie shrugged.
“Tea is nothing to brag about either,” Levi agreed despite taking another sip from his cup.
You could feel the embarrassment radiating off of Erwin. With every new playfully dig, it seemed harder to get him to meet your gaze. His ocean eyes landed everywhere but on you.
“That’s an interesting-looking napkin, huh,” you asked teasingly in a voice only he could hear. He glanced at you through the corner of his eye, a smirk tugging on the corner of his lips.
“Well, the prices are nice, though,” Sasha continued to tease slyly. You glanced over at Sasha with an exasperated glare, which she shrugged off. “So, Levi- was it- how do you know Erwin?”
“You’re loving this aren’t you,” Erwin groaned, finally bringing his eyes up to meet your own. He was enjoying every minute of looking at your playful smile, basking in the welcoming warmth. He shook his head with a chuckle, already knowing your answer from the mischievous glint in your eyes.
“Oh, every minute,” you giggled as you pointed a finger at his rosy cheeks. “Between you being a tomato and finding out Erwin the Greek god Smith came here looking for me-.”
“Cocky much?” Erwin flashed a dashing smile, “who said I was looking for you?”
You nodded, holding back a laugh. “Oh, right, of course. How silly of me.” You took your phone out with a shrug, “guess there’s no point in asking for your number then.” Erwin opened his mouth as if he was about to protest but quickly closed it.
“Hey,” Sasha interjected with a huff. “What’s the fun in making fun of you two if y’all just go into your own little la-la lands.”
“We weren’t,” you stammered before getting cut off by Connie.
“Were. We had a whole conversation, and you two didn’t even notice,” he stated matter of factly with a shrug before his mischievous grin returned to his lips. “At least exchange phone numbers this time.”
You stared at him wide-eyed, far too embarrassed to glare or come up with a retort. Your mouth opened and closed a few times like a gasping fish before you decided to keep your mouth closed with a huff. Just as you were about to change the subject, you noticed Erwin reach for your phone lying on the table.
“We were actually just getting to that,” Erwin replied with a cocky yet teasing grin. It was like someone flipped a switch on him. He was no longer this huge blushy and shy giant next to you. He exuded confidence but never crossed over into being cocky or egotistical. He took your phone in his hand and handed it to you so you could unlock it. “Y’know before we were interrupted from our ‘la la land’ and all.”
Sasha looked to you with a surprised expression as if asking for confirmation. You weren’t sure which was more shocking to her, that you were actually about to exchange numbers or that Erwin was finally retaliating. You mimicked Connie’s nonchalant shrug from a few moments ago as you unlocked your phone for Erwin.
Everyone seemed to be on the edge of their seats as Erwin typed in his contact information. Even Levi was visibly intrigued, though he tried to hide under his regular hardened and uninterested expression. Erwin didn’t notice anyone but you, however. All he could feel was your warmth beside him and your gaze locked on his hands. Having your undivided attention made him want to type even slower.
“Geez, what are you, a turtle? Actually, I think I’ve seen turtles move faster,” you teased with a nervous chuckle. The sudden quiet atmosphere at the table was too much. You felt the need to say something. Was that the best? Probably not.
Erwin laughed a throaty laugh, “someone seems eager.” His eyes flitted up to yours, “guess I shouldn’t be surprised. You were the same way in class. That’s probably why you were one of my favorites. But I feel the need to remind you,” he handed you your phone, “sometimes taking things slow is what makes it fun.”
The way he held your gaze sent your mind into a drunken-like daze. He was intoxicating in every way, completely taking over your mind until all you could think of was you and him. “Dealing with all these writing deadlines might’ve made me forget that.” You leaned closer, resting your chin in your palm. “Maybe I need a demonstration to help jog my memory.”
Erwin looked at you with a lopsided smirk. His eyes trailed down your face, landing on your lips longer than he intended. Every ounce of him wanted to take you up on the suggestion, but he wasn’t sure if you were being serious or just teasing.
“There you two go again,” Levi interrupted. You quickly sat back in your chair, creating room between you and Erwin. You could faintly make out a small chuckle from Levi. “If you two wanted to be alone, all you had to do was ask.”
“N-no,” you quickly stammered. “It’s not like that.” You couldn’t help the heat rising to your cheeks. “It’s just-,” you glanced at Erwin with a small smile, “-it’s nice seeing one of my favorite teachers again.”
“I sure hope your classroom wasn’t filled with as much sexual tension,” Sasha murmured.
Erwin raised an eyebrow in confusion. His mouth opened as if he was going to say something, but closed into a tight line.
“On that note, I should get going.” You quickly rose from your seat, avoiding making eye contact with Erwin. “Got another meeting with Jeager-bomb.” Sasha practically rolled her eyes into the back of her head but kept her mouth shut. At least you got his number before running off again. “Bye, guys! Oh, and it was nice meeting you, Levi.” You finally let your fall on Erwin, who had a somewhat expectant look on his face. “I’ll call you the next time I need help,” you couldn’t fight the girlish smile tugging on your lips.
“I look forward to it.”

Day 19, Story #2 is by @voldemorts-tap-shoes
Title: Flooded
Author: voldemorts-tap-shoes
Rating: T
Prompt: moving in together
Pairing: James x Lily
Lily had been avoiding the eagle-eyed stare of Madam Pince for the better part of the last half hour, but the increasing volume of her footsteps indicated that the librarian was finished allowing Lily to hide out for the evening.
Though she could sense Madam Pince’s formidable presence, Lily kept her nose buried in her potions book until the old librarian cleared her throat. “Oh,” she said, pretending to be surprised at the interruption. “Madam Pince, I didn’t—”
“Miss Evans.” Madam Pince glared down at her over the rim of her glasses. “The library is closed.”
Lily bit back a groan at the thought of returning to her temporary quarters, though she knew she was only delaying the inevitable. “Can’t I just stay a bit longer? You see, my room’s been flooded, and—”
“Yes, Miss Evans, I’m aware. Headmaster Dumbledore’s unconventional solution to the problem caused quite the stir at the teachers’ table this afternoon, but my only concern is for upholding the rules of the library. Which, as I said, is now closed.”
With a frustrated sigh, Lily packed up her books and began the slow trek back toward Gryffindor Tower, contemplating if there were anywhere else in the castle she could crash for the night. Even freezing out on the Astronomy Tower or being kept up all night by the second years’ teenaged mandrakes out in Greenhouse Three would have been preferable to the arrangement she was currently stuck with:
Sharing a room with James Potter.
She had returned to her Head Girl’s room after lunch to retrieve a book she forgot for her afternoon lessons, only to find herself up to her ankles in icy water. An impromptu investigation of the loo found the culprit to be her gushing shower, which had overflowed the tub throughout the morning, the water pouring across the tiles, through her bedroom, and all the way out to the small sitting area by the suite’s hidden entrance from the corridor.
Despite throwing every spell she could think of at the disastrous flood, Lily could neither vanish the water nor get the showerhead to stop spewing and had been forced to seek the assistance of her Head of House. Professor McGonagall was in a meeting with Dumbledore, who had assured her they would handle the situation and sent her off to Arithmancy.
Everything was fine until later in the afternoon, when Professor McGonagall had pulled both her and James out of Charms class to inform them that until further notice, they would be sharing James’ Head Boy suite. James had tried to look sympathetic to her plight, but Lily could tell he was nothing short of giddy at the prospect.
Lily had been rejecting his advances for the majority of their Hogwarts career, though lately, it was more on principle than an actual aversion to getting closer to him. She was recently beginning to notice things about Severus that made her think his feud with James wasn’t quite as one-sided as she had always believed, and she and James had grown closer this year as a result of his appointment to the Head Boy position. Plus—well, she wasn’t blind; he was one of the fittest boys in their year and always had been. And in their final year of schooling, he seemed to have traded in his more flirtatious ways to focus solely on her.
She had to admit, her resolve was weakening, and having to share a room with James was daunting in more ways than one.
Lily pushed open the door to James’ quarters and found him sleeping in his own sitting area, his lanky form draped over an armchair beside a dwindling fire. He had a book splayed across his chest, his glasses were askew on his face, and Lily’s heart gave an erratic thud at the thought that he’d been trying to wait up for her. They hadn’t had a chance to discuss the sleeping arrangements—more accurately, Lily spent the whole day avoiding him and what was sure to be an awkward conversation, no matter how it went. Lily sighed; she couldn’t delay any longer. She let the door slam behind her, and James woke with a jolt.
“Merlin’s pants, Evans,” James groaned, dropping his book to the floor as he rubbed at his eyes. “You know there’s more fun ways to wake a bloke up, don’t you?”
How he managed to lace every comment he made with innuendo, Lily would never know, and she took stock of the blush his words caused with horror. “Forget it,” she retorted, tightening her grip on her bag as she kept herself rooted to the spot. “I thought maybe we could have a mature conversation about this situation, but obviously not.”
“Cut me some slack, Evans, you just woke me up.” He unfolded himself from the chair, and his hazel eyes softened as he looked up at her. “Was starting to think you might’ve flung yourself off the Astronomy Tower instead of sleeping here tonight.”
Lily smirked. “Not quite, although I did consider sleeping up there.”
Usually, James gave as good as she did in their constant bickering, but something in his expression tonight seemed more honest than their usual superficial banter. “Is it really the worst thing in the world, Lily?” he asked, the rare sound of her first name on his lips sending shivers down her spine. “Moving in with me for a couple of days?”
“We’re not moving in together,” Lily replied, hoping the immediate deflection would put them back in more familiar territory.
“Sorry, thought you’d prefer that phrasing over shacking up, but I’m good with either.” He shot his trademark grin at her, but the smile didn’t quite reach his eyes.
Lily sighed and dropped her bag with a thump before moving to sit on the burgundy ottoman in front of him. “No, Potter, it’s not the worst thing in the world. It’s—“ She paused to meet his gaze, and with the scant distance between them, she could make out every fleck of gold in his eyes, the color reflecting what was left of the nearby flames. “It’s been a rough day,” she continued in a whisper. “I didn’t mean to take it out on you.”
“Yeah. It’s okay.” James ran a hand through his already-messy hair; for once, it seemed an unconscious habit rather than the vain gesture she usually took it for. “You’ll take the bed, of course.”
“What, no quips about sharing?” she teased.
“Why, is that an offer?” James smirked back, and for a brief instant that was surely a product of her exhausted state, she considered it. Before she could reply at all, James shook his head. “Seriously, the sofa’s fine.” He nodded towards his bedroom. “Get some sleep, Evans.”
She gave him a grateful smile in return. “Thank you. James.”
He raised his hand and flattened it against her forehead. “James?” he repeated, his tone drenched in feigned shock. “Maybe we should take you to see Pomfrey, and you can sleep in the infirmary tonight, after all.”
Lily swatted his hand away but grinned at him as she stood. “Goodnight, Potter.”
She summoned her bag and carried it into his room. As she shut the door behind her, she just caught James’ voice from the other room.
“Goodnight, Lily.”

PREVIOUS STAGE | THE STAGES MASTERLIST
Authors Note: I am so sorry about this. I am always aplogizing, I wanted to get this out sooner. I promise to be up to date on this one and the next. One last part!! enjoy!!
Making your way in the door, bags in tow you couldn’t be more excited to see the dog-hair overruled rug in front of the front door. A month away was much needed but you were never so excited to be in Massachusetts. Smiling, you set your bags down as Chris followed suit and looked around the house. “Scott!” you yelled and soon two barreling bodies on four legs came running from around the corner. Laughing you caught Zeus as Dodger made his way to Chris, making your way to the floor you couldn’t help but laugh as you smiled and received the many kisses from your and Chris's kids. As you two switched dogs and you got the love from dodger and he got his love from Zeus you finally made your way to your feet and met the eyes of your brother in law standing in the doorway, “please you’ve been gone a month and you're more excited to see them than me and I took care of the damn things!” he held his hands out in exaggeration as you laughed. You made your way to Scott in his open arms and squeezed him tight, happy to be home.
“So, how was it?!” Scott asked as you made your way to the kitchen to sit at the table as Chris let the dogs outside. You sat down at the table as Scott joined across from you “it was so beautiful, I adored every second of it” You smiled grabbing your phone from your pocket to show him a few pictures to pass the time. “Now you definitely made me a niece or nephew right?” he replied as you were mid story, you choked and laughed "What?" you asked looking up at him from where you were sitting “Listen, I already see how great of parents you two are going to be, I just need to be an uncle again okay!” he held his arms out and laughed as you laughed softly, you were not expecting him to come right out with it. “What’s going on in here?” Chris’s voice boomed as it was followed by the pitter patter of the dog's paws, “oh nothing, (Y/N) were just talking right?” Scott asked as you nodded still taken back by the question. You sat back as you didn’t even give a thought that you and Chris were unprotected the whole time, you shook it off, you were married now it was normal to be unprotected on a honeymoon, right?
You were unpacking in the bedroom when Chris bounced down on the bed with a grin, “as much as I loved the month off, I am so thankful to be home” he sighed happily as he fell back on the bed. You grinned and nodded in agreement as you put the dirty laundry between each suitcase in the correct laundry basket, “You okay?” he asked as you were awfully quiet, you were nervous as you knew you couldn’t hide this from your husband. You nodded, “Scott asked me if we made him an uncle while we were gone” you looked at him biting your lip as he smiled walking to meet you where you were standing. “You seem.. Upset about that?” he questioned as you looked at him shaking your head quickly “no no i’m far from upset I just want to make sure, if we did make a baby while there would it be the right timing?” you asked looking up at him as he smiled sadly. “Is this about my projects and such?” he asked as you nodded slightly “I don’t expect you to be at my beck and call and I don’t expect you to be with me 24/7 but when the baby comes.. It's going to need us both, IF I do come down pregnant” you said as you laughed “if I do get pregnant I mean” you finished as you watched him. Chris stood tall as he took your hands in his and squeezed them gently, messing with the wedding ring on your finger “we will figure it out when it comes okay?” you nodded in response, as you leaned up and kissed him softly.
You continued to try wracking your brain around the possibility of maybe being pregnant. You had no reason to think it but your anxiety was getting the better of you, over thinking the whole thing it kept you up the rest of the night. Looking over at the clock you noticed the bright red letter read “1:22 AM” as you sighed softly and pulled the covers back. Putting your slippers on you quietly opened and closed the door as you slipped downstairs, to avoid waking your husband. Sitting down on the couch you were met with Dodger climbing beside you, you smiled as you pet behind his ears, whispering to him “Hi buddy” you smiled as he huffed, laying his head in your lap. You turned the tv on and turned it to a random channel as you sat back, petting dodger absentmindly. “Would you want to be a big brother bud?” you looked down at the dog in your lap as you continued messing with his ears gently, he huffed in response, you realized Zeus was better at advice. You jumped awake as you felt a hand on your shoulder, looking up you met Chris’s tired eyes. "What are you doin down here?” he whispered as you scooted over so he could sit beside you, you laid your head on his shoulder “I couldn’t sleep," you replied. You felt your eyes start getting heavy as you finally fell back to sleep after a few more minutes, "let's get you to bed” he whispered as he carried you up to the bedroom.
A MONTH LATER
About two weeks after coming home you began to feel sick. Your anxiety had left you alone for the first week and you hadn’t thought to think of pregnancy as you continued to have aches and some vomiting. You laid on the couch as you continued to work from home as you were unsure of what was going on. You typed up papers and did virtual calls in the living room between bathroom visits. You had finished submitting an email to your firm as you heard a knock on the door. You stood and made your way to the door with your robe and pajamas, opening the door you were met with Chris’s mom, Lisa. “Lisa!” you said in surprise as you moved aside to let her in, “Chris says you aren’t feeling well, and with him in meetings and you being you, he wanted me to make sure you ate” she made her way to the kitchen as you followed after shutting the door. You smiled “that’s amazing Lisa” you replied as you smiled at her as she set the bag down and pulled out tupperware dishes. “Okay so we have, Chicken noodle, loaded baked potato and chedda-” she began to ramble the soups in each bin as you cut her off making your way up to the bathroom at the top of the steps.
Emptying the contents of what was in your stomach you pushed your hair back as you felt a hand on your back “oh honey” she whispered as you shut the toilet lid and flushed it. Standing up you looked back at her as she handed you a towel. "Are you sure you're okay?” she asked softly, moving a piece of your hair off your forehead gently. You nodded as she pulled you into a hug and whispered in your ear “You know, when I was pregnant with Chris I had constant morning sickness.. Honey, I may take a test” she smiled at you softly as you both pulled away from the hug. After Lisa left you took care of the tupperware dishes of soups and leaned against the fridge door. You knew you had to go to the drug store and pick up a test. You sat and contemplated going to the store before you finally decided against it. After a few hours you finally felt it was time to face your fear and go to the store. Making it to the drug store down the road was easier than you had anticipated and you made your way into the aisle. Looking through as the boxes made your head hurt as you were so confused by what was good and what wasn’t. “First time?” a middle aged woman asked as she entered the aisle, you nodded, pulling the sleeves of your sweater over your hands. She smiled at you and picked up a box “this is the one I used for my first one, I recommend it” she smiled as you nodded looking at the box.
You made it home as easily and made your way upstairs. You couldn’t believe you were taking a test. The anxiety you had at first was creeping back up on you as you sat down on the toilet and set the test on the counter. Sitting on the toilet you stared off at the random decor you and Chris had in the bathroom. You began to pick at the nail polish on your fingers as you bit your lip, your knee bouncing, you were anxious and it was eating you alive. You jumped at the sound of your phone alarm as you looked at it to shut it off. Taking a deep breath you grabbed the test off the counter, counting to ten you closed your eyes. As you reached ten you opened your eyes and looked down at the tiny piece of plastic in your hand, as you opened your eyes the words read out to you “POSITIVE”. Your lip shook as you covered your mouth, tears forming in your eyes as you sniffled, you were having a baby. Grabbing your phone you quickly typed up a quick text to Lisa, simply reading “you were right”.
After a few days you had your first appointment with your doctor where you were able to get the full details. You were about 7 weeks. Getting the sonogram wasn’t much but you cried sitting in the office chair as you held the tiny picture in your hands, you couldn’t see much but you knew a little bundle of you and Chris grew inside of you. After contemplating the last few days you knew you had to tell him in a special way. He was going to be over the moon and you couldn’t wait to see his reaction. After countless Pinterest scrolls you finally found how you would tell him. Making your way inside the house you called out, “Chris!” you slid your shoes off “In the office!” he replied. You smiled as you held the small gift bag, making your way to the office you smiled as you saw him at his desk. You made your way over to him as you held the gift bag out to him. "What's this?” he asked as you smiled shrugging “just open it” you smiled as you sat on the edge of his desk as he took the bag into his lap. Tearing through the wrapping paper, Chris pulled out the mug that read “#1 dad”, holding the mug in his hands, his eyebrows furrowed, he tilted his head. After a few minutes he looked between you and the mug as soon a paper fell from inside the mug falling in his lap, picking it up he saw the sonogram photo. “Oh my god” he whispered softly as you finally smiled, “are we having a baby?!” he asked as you nodded eagerly. Screaming Chris set the mug down and tackled you, gently into a hug. As you hugged him back as tightly as you could you heard the sniffles from your shoulder and his soft whisper “I’m going to be a dad”.
After a few weeks you and Chris had scheduled a photoshoot to announce the pregnancy. You knew you should announce it to family first but you had informed him that his mom was the reason you already knew about your baby. You stood at the mirror as you adjusted the dress on your body, as Chris slowly approached. Wrapping his arms around you, resting his hands on your belly he smiled “I can’t believe we're having a baby," he smiled as he kissed the top of your head “a little cheese fry” you laughed at his reply. You finally made it out of the house with your small family and to the location the photographer had recommended, getting out you couldn’t help but smile and knew this place was going to be perfect. You got Dodger and Zeus ready as Chris and the photographer spoke about how they’d like to proceed. You smiled as you pinned the “big brother” bandannas on Dodger and Zeus and couldn’t help and coo at them, "My big boys," you smiled as Chris yelled for you, "C'mon baby lets get started!”. You posed beside Chris as you both held your small bump, Dodger sitting in front of you and Chris. After many shots later you and the boys were ready to head home.
A few days later you and Chris received the photos from the photographer as Chris paid extra for them to be edited in top priority. As you and Chris scrolled through them the one of the four of you was your favorite, you had to definitely frame a few of them for Lisa as Christmas presents. Chris grinned from beside you as your phone had buzzed multiple times on the bedside table, as you sat there with your book in hand you furrowed your eyebrows and looked over at him. "What did you do?” you asked as he shrugged with a grin. Grabbing your phone you clicked the notifications and smiled at the photo Chris decided to post of the four of you with the caption “Looks like Zeus and Dodger are getting promotions”. You laughed as you smiled. “I think that's my favorite," he whispered as you smiled leaning over to kiss him. You nodded as you sat back against the headboard with a smile. Thinking back you couldn’t help to be so excited, you were going to have a baby with the love of your life, A little cheese fry.

You hated him. Okay, maybe that was a slight over statement, but you weren't exactly pleased with your boss. It was New Year's Eve and you had plans to spend time with your family like you did every year. You'd go to the beach and watch the firework display before heading back home and getting cozy on the sofa, nursing a mug of your favourite hot beverage and watching the countdown on live television. It was simple, but it was your tradition, and it was important to you.
You had to drop by the office during the break between Christmas and New Year's to drop off a sales project you'd been working on for the past month. Proud of the results, you slipped it on your boss' desk and turned around to leave when a large hand dropped down to the small of your back, stopping you in your footsteps. Your whole body stiffened up and you swallowed the lump that had appeared in your throat. You knew it was your boss, because there was just something so distinct about the aura Max Phillips gave off.
He called your name and you took a deep breath, turning around to face him. His hand slipped from you and he smiled politely.
"I need you to stop by on New Year's Eve… work late." Max said matter-of-factly like you couldn't even question it. You stood there completely dumbfounded, your eyes turning comically wide in disbelief when you saw him spin around and walk into his office. You hurried after him.
"I can't do that," you replied with a small, incredulous scoff, like his suggestion was ridiculous. "I booked in to take a holiday for New Year's Eve months ago. I have plans."
"Plans change," Max sighed, sliding into his chair and casually slipping his feet up on his office desk, crossing over his ankles and folding his arms against his chest. "You knew what you were getting yourself into when you took this job. You knew that you must make your position here a priority."
He was right. You hated that he was right.
"But I have plans!" you repeated in protest, perhaps a little too loudly. Max looked up from the paperwork you handed in and stared at you with a quirked eyebrow. Something about the look on his face made you infuriated. It was like he failed to understand how much this has upset you. "Can't you ask Evan? Or Amanda? Or hell, even Tim?"
"Now, no need to get upset," Max hummed, his tone as condescending as ever. "If I wanted Evan or Amanda or Tim I would've asked them. But I want you."
You were angry. So angry you felt your cheeks burn up with rage. But there was something so personal about Max specifically selecting you. You didn't understand it— truth be told, you were just as qualified as everyone else in the office. You always felt like you didn't particularly stand out from a crowd, but clearly, in this circumstance, you had stood out to Max. In fact, you had stood out the moment Max hired you.
He shouldn't have done it, but it wasn't his fault. When you walked into his office for the first time, bright eyed and prepared for your interview, he found you completely and utterly alluring. You were smiley, perky, and gave all the right answers. Even if you had given the wrong answers, the chances were that Max would've still hired you. He figured he could get used to your irresistible good looks by seeing you every day, but he hadn't really. It had been months and he hadn't gotten over you.
Max was no monster. In the moment, you were filled with blinded rage and you were certain he must've had a heart made of stone— but actually, that wasn't true at all. In fact, you couldn't have been more wrong. After you had stormed out of his office, Max was left alone. He swung his feet off the table, immediately ridding himself of that cocky persona he always displayed, and began to nervously pick at his fingernails. He did feel bad. He did feel selfish. But if he didn’t do this now, he felt like I would simply explode. And that would be messy.
He’d admired you from day one. He loved your charm, and the way you’d waltz into the office every morning and brighten up the room. No one else noticed, but Max certainly did. He tried dumb little ways to win your affection, like bringing you a coffee on his lunch break or the bouquet of red roses on your birthday, but you never took the hint.
Maybe you hadn’t taken the hint that he liked you because you were too busy yearning over him yourself! You were smitten with Max. Who wouldn’t be? On the exterior, he was cool and collected, smug and suave. He wore these perfectly pressed designer suits and had the most beautiful chocolate brown hair. You swore you always caught his eyes sparkling, even under the dull, artificial office lighting. He was your dream man, but he also happened to be a man you never would’ve imagined ending up with. He had such a big and boisterous personality, and his job was literally his lifestyle. He was so career oriented whereas you were more focused on spending time with your family. Maybe that’s why this hurt you so much.
You laid on your bed, staring at your wall clock as it ticked by with every second. You had to be at the office in half an hour. If it was up to you, you would’ve been at the firework display doting one of your sleek, little black dresses. You huffed out your cheeks, mourning the New Years Eve you could’ve had. But that was when the realization hit you. You looked down at your comfy slacks and sweater and decided that you weren’t going to let Max Phillips ruin your evening. You could still have a good time, even if your plans had changed. You got up, walked over to your closet and picked out the outfit you had planned on wearing tonight.
You slipped into the dress, fastened your heels and grabbed your favourite jacket, pulling it over your body for warmth. Knowing the roads would be busy, you didn’t want the stress of driving, so you called a cab. As you waited outside for your taxi, your feet became submerged in the thick, fluffy white snow and your breathing became jittery from the cold. You almost regretted wearing the short dress but knew once you entered the office, the heat would engulf you and it would be so worth it.
You were right, too. When you had finally arrived at work, you noted that Max had left the heating on for you. You supposed that had been thoughtful of him, all things considered. The front door got stuck, as it always did. You groaned, trying to get it to budge open and took a mental note. You'd have to text Frank in the morning and remind him to get the stupid lock fixed before something bad happens. The lobby was dark but you did notice the small amber light illuminating Max’s private office at the end of the room. You walked down the deserted office space, your heels clicking against the marble floor as you approached the very end. You knocked on his door, which already stood slightly ajar and waited for Max to call you in. After a brief silence, you finally heard Max’s voice.
His jaw dropped when he saw you, but as always, you didn’t even notice. You always failed to recognise the signs that Max was indeed completely enamoured with you. His lips parted slightly in awe and his eyes widened as you slipped out of your jacket and hung it on the coat peg. Max drunk in your appearance like it was the most beautiful thing he had ever seen; he even felt something begin to stir in his lower abdomen. It was a sensational feeling. He couldn’t tear his gaze from you as he admired the way your dress hugged your body and accentuated you in all the right places. You were even wearing that beautiful shade of red lipstick, the same one you had worn at the annual Christmas party. The same one that Max had specifically mentioned he adored so much. That colour suited you so well, it drove him crazy.
"You… you look exquisite," he gulped nervously, feeling himself begin to fluster up. "I didn't realise we were making it formal."
"You always wear your suits," you pointed out. "I figured I could dress up too. I bought this dress specifically for my plans tonight and well, I didn't want it to go to waste,"
Max didn't reply, he was still too busy raking in your appearance. The prolonged silence irritated you slightly and you released a sigh that you didn't even realise you were holding back. "Max, if you don't mind me asking, why am I here?" you quizzed.
"Oh, right," Max replied, an air of apology in his voice. He pointed at the chair that was located on the other side of his desk. "Sit."
You obeyed his instruction, gently sliding into the plush leather seat and crossing your legs. You literally took his breath away. He was going to do it, he was finally going to admit his feelings to you, but he couldn't help but notice the scowl that played across your lips. You looked genuinely pissed off with him. So much so that he figured maybe now wasn't the best time after all.
"What is it?" you raised your eyebrows, waiting for the acting sales manager to say something— anything.
"I-" Max started but he really couldn't bring myself to continue. He just couldn't do it. It would be humiliating for him, and there was no way you'd even feel the same way. His whole idea was a joke and he couldn't have been any less thrilled. "Doesn't matter. Sorry for calling you here tonight. Go be with your family." He told you, finally breaking eye contact and looking down at the floor sadly.
You knotted your eyebrows together. "I'm sorry? What?" you gritted out. You weren't as much angry as you were confused.
"Yeah," Max muttered, pointing aimlessly at the door. You blinked profusely. "Sorry." he mumbled again. This was really embarrassing for him. Max Phillips didn't let this kind of shit happen. Max Phillips wasn't the kind of guy to fall in love with his employees— but you had him wrapped around your little finger and didn't even know about it.
"Don't you have family to be with?" you asked your boss hesitantly. Come to think of it, you had never heard Max talk about his family. All you knew about his personal life was that he was excluded from university and ended up finishing his Business Management degree in some quaint and rather illegitimate sounding Romanian college. Max shook his head 'no' and you opted not to prod him any further about it. "Well, I appreciate you letting me leave. But it's no fun staying cooped up in here all night. You're more than welcome to join me and my relatives at the firework display."
Were you mildly annoyed that Max had brought you to his office on New Year's Eve for no evident reason? Yes. But were you also ecstatic that he was allowing you to leave and see your family? Absolutely. You weren't going to deny him, and you were afraid that if you questioned him any further he might change his mind.
Max's eyes lit up at your suggestion. "Wait, really?" He asked, already grabbing his coat and pulling it over his shoulders. "I can drive." His enthusiasm reminded you of the very reason you had fallen for him in the first place.
You giggled. "Of course! Mind, my family can be quite...intense." you warned. Max shut the light and the both of you walked down the empty office to the front door where you tried to open it. But, it wouldn't budge. It was stuck. Your movements became erratic as you tried to yank it open, your fingers clenched tightly around the handle. "Um, it won't open." you said hesitantly, beginning to panic and use all your upper body strength to try and push the lock back. You had remembered the door had been on its last legs for quite some time now… but of course it would only be your luck for it to finally give way on New Year's Eve.
"Let me try." You stepped back and watched as Max jiggled the lock a little. He looked up and down at the door, trying to gauge its sturdiness before slamming his full body into the wooden frame and breaking it down. You screamed, your eyes going comically wide as the door shattered into a million splintered pieces. Max brushed his fitted suit down like nothing had even happened.
"What the-" you gasped, your voice turning incredulously high pitched. "How did you do that?"
"Uh, just a simple shift of weight," Max said, analysing the damage done.
"Gosh, it's like you have super strength or something." you started pointedly at the mess on the floor, your gaze flicking between the rubble and your boss who was just waiting for you to follow him outside.
"...or something," he muttered when you eventually stepped over the mess and walked with him to the parking lot. Max Phillips was not your ordinary guy by any means. He'd love for you to one day learn the truth about him, but for now he'd have to tackle one step at a time and all he could think about was the possibility of finally admitting his feelings to you.
You slid into the passenger's seat of Max's car and he followed behind you. As he turned on the exhaust, you pulled down the interior mirror and padded out the little snowflakes which had fluttered into your hair. As you fixed your appearance, you noticed Max was staring at you from the corner of his eye, trying to be discreet. He waited until you had finished before he started to drive.
The drive was filled with a comfortable silence, the car radio quietly humming in the background as you glanced outside, unable to contain your smile. There was just something so beautiful about this time of year. You loved seeing the way the ground was lapped with snow and the trees which stood tall and bare. It was magical.
Max finally pulled up as close to the firework display as he could get— although it was still around a ten minute walk away. You both slid out of the car, immediately shivering as the cold winter air once again hit you. "Definitely wasn't planning on doing this tonight," Max admitted with a light chuckle.
"You know? Me neither," You laughed back. "Otherwise I would've brought my gloves."
Truthfully, Max didn't feel the cold. There was something about him… it was like he was always cold and so the winter air didn't bother him as much as it would bother anyone else. Max slipped his hand into yours, his fingers curling around yours and giving you a gentle squeeze. You felt your heart rate increase speed under his touch and you looked up at him with confused, glazed eyes.
"Transferring just a little body heat," he explained, but cursed himself as soon as the words left his lips. Who speaks like that? Could he not have just admitted that he's been wanting to hold your hand for what feels like forever? You nodded unknowingly and shot him an adorable grin.
You both walked through the thick snow, hand in hand, and Max paid extra care to make sure you wouldn't slip over on the black ice. Those heels you were wearing looked like a nightmare to walk in. He had your back, and for the first time in forever, you genuinely felt protected.
You spotted your family immediately once you arrived at the display, smiling and shouting them over. Max nervously followed behind you, his hands in his coat pockets. "Hey, I thought you couldn't make it." your mom grinned, pulling you into a comforting hug.
"Well we figured something out," you laughed. "This is my boss by the way, Max Phillips."
Your family and Max exchanged pleasantries as you waited for the display to start. "I'm going to get some hot cocoa from the vendor over there," Max announced. "Does anyone want anything?"
Your family said no but you asked him politely for a cup of your favourite hot beverage. "So," your mother cooed. "What's the deal with you two?"
"What do you mean?" you asked with a quirked eyebrow, but you knew what her tone suggested.
"Are you kidding? I see the way he looks at you!" Your mom explained and you felt a flush of heat swamp across your cheeks.
"I really don't think he feels that way about me," you scoffed and your mother emitted a small hum. "We're just friends and uh… colleagues."
Max came back and handed you your hot drink. You hummed in delight as you nursed the cup, the heat warming your hands and the smell enticing you.
The firework display began, bolts of pretty colours shooting up into the air and exploding into magic. You leaned your head into the crook of Max's shoulder as you both watched the night sky explode into colour. It was awe-inspiring.
Your mother tapped you on the shoulder, interrupting your moment. "The kids are cold," she explained. "I think we're going to head home early and watch the countdown to midnight on the television. You and Max are more than welcome to join us."
You turned to Max, wanting to know what he thought. He dropped a hand to your wrist. "Uh actually, could we have a moment of privacy?" he raised an eyebrow and you hesitantly nodded your head. Your mother smiled understandingly and waved you both goodbye.
"So," you hummed, gently rocking backwards and forwards, a slight awkwardness in your body language.
"I've never actually seen fireworks in real life before." Max admitted.
"Really?" you felt your eyes widen in surprise and Max nodded. "You know Max, I've always thought you were like an enigma. Mystery man. There's so much I don't know about you, but then sometimes, you come out with the most random things."
"Well, what do you want to know?" Max asked.
You thought for a second. "I want to know why you invited me to your office on New Year's Eve, only to let me go home after all. I don't understand. I finished the sales project, done all the work you asked of me…"
Max sighed, cutting you off. "I know," he said. "It wasn't for a work thing…"
You furrowed your eyebrows together in bewilderment, waiting for him to continue. "Countdown to midnight in one minute!" the announcer yelled and everyone around you screamed.
"The truth is, I had to tell you something. Something I've been keeping to myself for a long time," Max began to explain. He felt himself getting nervous but he knew he had to do his best to shake off the anxiety. Now was a good of a time as any. "I like you," he admitted. "A lot. And I've liked you for a long time. And I'm not sure if you feel the same way but these feelings have been eating me up for what feels like an eternity… I never thought a man like me could fall in love but I'm pretty sure… I'm pretty sure I could be falling right now."
You were in complete disbelief. Your boss was admitting he had feelings for you this whole time?
"I invited you to my office because I wanted to tell you, but when I saw how upset you were with me… it put me off," Max sighed, running his fingers through his dark hair. "I'm sorry. I'm sorry if this makes you uncomfortable. If it does, just let me know and we can forget all about it."
He was rambling on, he hadn't even noticed the countdown beginning.
10, 9, 8…
"But I don't want to forget. I want to go into this new year with you knowing exactly how I feel. I'd love to go into the new year with you by my side because shit… I've imagined it for so long,"
7, 6, 5…
"I'm not a perfect guy, in fact, there's a lot you need to know about me. But if you just give me one chance… I promise I won't mess it up,"
4, 3, 2…
"Please."
1.
The crowds erupted into chaos as the final batch of fireworks exploded into the night sky. "Happy new year!" People cheered and screamed excitedly. You pressed your lips against Max's, unable to contain your smile. Your action took him by surprise. After a slight stumble backwards, he wrapped his arms around you and rested his palms on the small of your back.
"Happy new year," you mumbled against his lips.
"Happy new year," he replied, affectionately nudging the curve of his nose against yours.
"I love you too." And with your confession, Max pulled you into another, deeper and more passionate kiss. You knew in that moment you'd be in for a great year ahead.

It was a cold winter morning when Lilly woke me up to join her at breakfast. I groggily complied, following her without having exchanged a word. I am not a morning person. And she very much knows that. But she is my friend and leaving her to go alone on a Saturday morning would be too cruel. Simply because of one person. James Potter- we all know they are meant to be. They are both just too stubborn. Well, Lilly is. James would marry her right there and then.
"Thanks again, (y/n), you know I can't handle him. Especially not in the mornings." I just smirk, nodding.
But my smirk is wiped off my tired face as soon as I catch a glimpse of Remus. Remus Lupin. Aka the death of me. Those brown locks and shy smile drive me mad. Sure I didn't tell anybody, everyone would make fun of me for it. Just like they do with Potter and Evans. Besides, I know he doesn't feel the same. He has a huge crush on that Gryffindor Girl that has luscious golden locks and full, pouty lips. It's hopeless, really. But Lilly has other plans as she drags me with her, right up to the Marauders.
"Good morning, beautiful Lilly-flower. How did you sleep?" There's the reason why I'm here.
"Shut it Potter, not today." Lilly mutters as she sits down opposite him and pulls me down next to her. Her small blush obvious to everyone. I sit down. Right next to Remus. I try not to show my excitement. Or how nervous I've gotten all of a sudden. And definitely not turn toward him.
It must have been too forced which is why Sirius sends a smirk my way. I raise an eyebrow in return.
“Why so tense, (Y/N)? Can’t handle the beauty in front of you? You seem overwhelmed-“
“Actually, let me stop you right there, Sirius. Nothing of the above.” Remus chuckles next to me but it turns into a muffled cough, which catches my attention and I can’t help and turn too look at him. The first time I really do today. And a sense of hurt fills me as I see his scared face. Another rough night. I lift a hand to touch his shoulder but decide against it mid-air.
“Remus, are you alright?” He doesn’t glance back just pokes at his food and still holding a fist to his lips after the cough. He shakes his head and ignores my question. I frown and turn back forward, trying to feel hungry. Actually, trying to feel anything but a void in my stomach. And hurt. He never ignored me. Sure, he is frank sometimes and maybe doesn’t always looks me in the eye when we talk but- he never once ignored me.
“Soo, are we going to Hogsmeade tomorrow?” James asks, trying to cut the tension at the table but I can’t hold it in anymore and am scared they will see my glossy eyes.
I shake my head and stand up briefly. “Sorry.” I speed walk down the table and out of the Great Hall. I only stop once I reached the common room and decide to sit on the couch until classes would start. Who needs food anyway. I bury my head in a book and nearly miss to leave for our first class. Potions. Funny enough this is the only class I usually sit next to Remus because James sat next to Lilly the first time. Now I slow down my walk and hope he might have switched seats. When I enter though Remus is glancing around until his eyes land on me. I freeze for a second but gulp down my nerves and take my usual seat next to him.
It’s quite for a while. I don’t look over and he doesn’t say anything. Not even raising his hand when I can clearly see he did his homework and knows the correct answer.
A paper ball lands on his side of the desk which catches my attention. I don’t want to be nosey so I don’t try to read what’s written there. But I get where it must have come from by the look he is sending over to Sirius. Sirius gestures wildly at him, looking stern and I frown until he points over to me and our eyes meet- he quickly whips his hand up and ruffles his hair, sending me an awkward smile with a wave. Then turns back around.
I frown but don’t question it any further, trying to also ignore the eyes I feel on the side of my face. I Scribble down on my parchment but can’t help and notice Remus clearing his throat a couple times. After the third time I sigh and glance up. He’s wringing his fingers below the table and his eyes dart up as he sees me looking up. His eyes growing wide for a second before he sends me a small, uneasy smile.
“Hey.” He whispers. I can’t help but let my gaze linger on the scar below his eye. It looks painful and I quickly relax my face as I notice I’ve been cringing at him.
“Hi.” I reply and have to send a smile back. I can’t stop myself. He does that to me. Goofball. I am about to turn back to our task as he opens his mouth, inhaling- as if to say something. But he stops himself.
I raise a brow at him and wait. “What’s up?” Is add, trying to encourage him to keep going.
“I- I just-“ he smiles down at his hands and turns toward me slightly, “-I wanted to apologize. You probably think I’m absolutely rude and, and insufferable-“
He wants to ramble on but I glance up to the podium to see McGonogall sending us a suspicious look. I turn back to Remus, taking one of his fidgety hands and he stops talking, looking down at our hands.
“Remus, it’s okay. I still like you- let’s get back to work and talk later, alright?” I give him another small smile and he sighs, sending one back, nodding.
It took a short moment longer before I let go off his hand and turn back forward. I shield my warm cheeks from his view with my hair covering them now. The grin on my face suppressed.
___
“So- who’s up for a ride on our magnificent sled this fine evening?” James asks as he rounds the couch of the common room where Lilly and I sit, reading and talking. Our eyes go up to him as Sirius joins his side, throwing an arm over his shoulder and sending us mischievous smile. I roll my eyes and glance over to Lilly who’s sighing. But she wears a smile, her eyes finding mine.
“What do you say?” She asks me and I shrug my shoulders, standing up and throwing the book onto the soft cushioned couch.
“Why not, it’s beautiful outside.”
“Remus is coming as well~” Sirius is singing teasingly as he walks off with James to get ready, but not without winking at me over his shoulder. My eyes grow wide at his remark. Does he know? I tried really hard to hide that crush.
“-(Y/N)? Let’s go, come on.” Lilly pulls me out of my trance and pulls me after her at my sleeve.
“So, what’s that with you and Remus?” She asks, a small grin on her lips.
“What do you mean? Nothings going on.” I reply, maybe too quickly because Lilly sends me another big goofy grin and I roll my eyes, as she rummages through her stuff, throwing a beanie at me and one of her gryffindor scarfs.
“Whatever helps you sleep at night.” She mumbles and we jog back down to the common room, waiting for the boys.
As they join us, James picks up a squealing Lilly and runs ahead. Sirius carries the sleds and nods at us. “See you there, losers.” He runs off as well, yelling after them. Now it’s just Remus and me. Peter needed to rest, he’s been sick for a few days already, enjoying his peace in Madame Pomfrey’s Medical Wing.
“Are you going anywhere special this Christmas?” I ask, trying to cut the tension I felt growing. I loved that we quietly, without saying a word, decided not to run after them. We kept walking normally.
“No, just staying home, what about you?” I bury my hands deep in my pockets as we step outside, the wind instantly blowing across our skin.
“No, neither do we. My grandparents are coming over this year tho, so- that will be interesting.” I mumble and he chuckles, I glance up at him.
“I couldn’t hear what you were saying.” I realize I’ve talked into my scarf and push it down a little, my face now warm anyway.
“Hey! Watch out-“ I can’t even look at the source of the voice when a snowball hits me right on the cheek. I stumble, squeezing my eyes shut but Remus holds me before I slip.
I blink my eyes open, Remus wiping at my cheek, frowning. “Are you alright?” I nod quickly, staring into his warm eyes.
“Guys, come on!” Sirius whines and runs over.
“Seriously, be more careful Sirius.” Remus mumbles, quite annoyed as he turns to him, his hand leaving my hair, where he had also tried to get the snow wiped away.
“Aw, are you mad I threw snow at your girlfriend?” He smirks and folds his arms. I stare at the icy ground now and Remus says something under his breath while bending down and collecting a pile of snow, Sirius quickly runs off and giggles. Remus runs after him, holding his beanie as it’s slipping off.
“Get back here, Black!”
I hide my smile behind the scarf and walk toward where Lilly is watching James, who seems to struggle with a spell. He rearranged his glasses, his cheeks slightly tinted pink as he sends a shy smile over to Lilly. “I nearly got it.”
“Hey, why aren’t you sledding yet?” I ask as I join Lilly’s side.
“James wanted to make the sled bigger so- more people could fit on. But-“
“-I nearly got it, okay?” He clears his throat again and gulps. He gets so flustered, trying to prove himself to Lilly. It’s absolutely adorable. “Enlargio!”
I take a step back and Lilly follows suit. The sled grows in size, not too much either. Well, I guess successful?
“See?” He smirks and gestures toward his accomplishment. Lilly claps, her mittens muting the sound.
“Well done, you mighty wizard.” I add and he glares over, taking a pile of snow quickly. I hold my hands up.
“Sorry, sorry, please don’t- I already got enough snow in my face for today.” He chuckles and we look over to Remus still running after Sirius, he finally tackles him to the ground and pushes a snowball into Sirius’ face. We all laugh at the scene and walk over, up the hill.
“Hey, let poor Sirius go, I think he learned his lesson.” Lilly states and I nod, smirking at Remus as he stands up, out of breath, just as Sirius.
The latter stands up too, wiping himself off the snow and flares at Remus.
“What was that for anyway?” James asks and Sirius smirks through his white lashes.
“Yeah, Remus, what for?”
“I just- just don’t be so rude to-“
“-to, (Y/N)?” Sirius finishes for him and I roll my eyes, Remus sighing.
“Yes.” He grits out and I raise a brow at them both. They are standing now, facing each other again, Remus looking ready to throw another snowball if Sirius kept talking. And Sirius- well he just doesn’t know when to stop.
“Why don’t you just tell her that you like her? Maybe then I’ll stop.” He grabs more snow and strides my way, throwing a look over his shoulder at Remus. I shriek and turn, running away. But I am no way as fast as he is. He grabs me around my waist with one arm and lifts me up, laughing as I try to wriggle free. He holds his other hand close to my face, turning us to face the others.
“Come on Remus, you know what to do-“
“Sirius, stop, I’m gonna get sick-“
“I like her, okay? Is that what you wanted to hear?”
“Don’t tell me, Remus, tell her-“ Sirius turns me further and I stop struggling, looking at Remus. He seems in conflict but shuts is eyes for a moment. When he looks back at me he gulps and steps forward.
“I- I really like you. A lot.” I want to throw my scarf and beanie off, that’s how hot I got and run toward him. Telling him I feel the same. But before I can even say anything I feel cold snow. My eyes back closed. I step on his foot now causing Sirius to finally let me go.
Remus is by my side once again and helps me with the snow. “I’ll kill him.” He whispers and runs his thumb across my cheek.
“You may. But- not without-“ I lean up and holds his face as I press a kiss to his lips. Brief but all I needed to tell him I return the feelings. He smiles down at me, his face now warm and eyes lingering on my lips and back up my eyes.
“I’ll be right back.” He adds quietly and runs around me, Sirius not noticing at first so they both stumble to the ground and throw snow at each other.
Lilly walks up and James follows suit. “Well, that took longer than expected- I owe Peter 5 galleons now.” I whip my head toward him and frown, he looks back at me, startled. “Did I say that out loud?” I nod at him. “Oh oh.” He turns around and runs off, me hot on his heels and Lilly joins me.
“Come back here, Potter!”

all too well (sirius black x f.reader)
Tumblr media
sorry i’ve been in a sirius mood lately!!
inspired by “all too well” by taylor swift
word count: 3.0k (i went crazy)
warning: swearing, a small metion of sirius mother beating him (it’s barely mentioned), and ANGST
“Black! Potter!”
Slughorn turned to the two laughing fools, each closing their mouths but small giggles managed to make it through the side of their lips.
“That’s it! Black move to sit with (L/N) and Evans will sit with Potter.”
Lily's face dropped from beside me, grabbing her book and giving me sorry eyes. She had a feeling Black wouldn’t be much better than Potter.
Both boys face lit up, Black grabbing his belongings and running to the seat beside me.
“Morning (L/N),” Black muttered, throwing his books to the table and turning to give Potter a thumbs-up behind Lily's hair.
“I think you might be a little too excited.”
“This is his chance,” Black finally turned from the two and let his head fall to lay on the wooden desk.
“Do you understand what he’s saying?”
“Nope,” I looked at the boy, a smirk playing at his lips as he slowly picked up his head.
“You’re telling me you weren’t paying attention?”
“Yep,” I popped the “p” giving a sarcastic smile before flipping through the pages of the book.
“I thought you were a goody-two-shoes.”
“You thought wrong.”
He looked to me with a little smirk, this quill passing between his fingers.
“Where have you’ve been all my life?”
*
“Sirius!”
I laughed as I felt my body collapse into the Black Lake, my body dripping in freezing water. I let myself sink further down, playing a prank on him as he waited for me to come back up.
I heard his voice muffled like he was calling my name but I couldn’t tell as I held my breath a little longer. I was about to break the surface when I saw his body dive into the water. I let his arms wrap around me as he pulled me up, my smile bright as soon as I reached the top. I took a few heavy breaths as he searched my face for god knows what.
“That wasn’t funny,” he mumbled, his arm still wrapped around me.
“It was hilarious,” I smiled, kicking off his leg and floating back to the rocks where our robes and my scarf laid. I turned, pulling myself out the water onto the rocks, Sirius at my side in seconds.
“You’re evil, vile even.”
I watched the water drip from his long dark locks, my eyes so fixated on it I didn’t notice him messing with my scarf until he turned around with him wearing it. The bright green color was wrapped around his neck, one I had found at a shop years ago but it suited him better than I ever could.
“Hand it to me?” I held my hand out waiting for the scarf but it never came.
“It’s mine until you learn to behave,” he spoke with a cocky grin, hiding the yarn behind his back as I stood up reaching for it. He ducked my hand, laughing at my bored face.
“Sirius gave it back,” I reached again but this time became closer to me, letting his lips rest on mine. My head started spinning but I quickly let my lips mold with his, my scarf long forgotten at this point.
“Oi, he did it!”
I slowly took my lips from him, looking over to the castle to see the other three of his little group waving at us, Lily standing beside Remus and James with a little smile playing at her lips.
“I’m afraid we’ve been caught, love.”
*
“Look at it!”
Sirius spun around in the center of the small apartment, his arms wide as he looked to the dirty walls and what looked to be a bloodstain on the floor.
“I see,” I spoke lightly, careful not to bust his ego in the moment.
“It’s three minutes from Moony, five minutes from Wormtail, and a direct Floo to Prongs,” he spoke with a little giggle, running up to my side and wrapping his arm around my shoulder with a kiss to the side of my face.
“It’s something,” I still couldn’t get over the bloodstain in the carpet and what looked to be a knife stuck in the wall little ways over.
“I know it’s a mess, but it just needs love like I did.”
I looked up at him, admiring the way he looked to the way with shiny new eyes. He always was much better at these things, the optimism of the relationship.
“Yeah, he can get a nice couch-” I pointed to the wall with the small curve in it.
“An L-couch, I looked it up cause I know you like sitting in corners. It can be blue, I like blue couches,” he skipped to the wall I pointed at, letting his hands run over the paint.
I smiled at his excitement and the way he knew the little things about me that I barely knew of myself.
“I like that,” I set my bag to the side and slowly walked up beside him.
“I think we should do black walls because one day you’ll have my last name and we need to keep the same energy,” he spoke as if the idea of marriage wasn’t some crazy idea.
“You want to share a last name?”
“Why of course, why else would I have stuck with you this long?”
He smiled down at me, that same cocky smile from those days at Hogwarts still played at his lips.
“Well, we have a war on th-”
“No talk of war in our new apartment,” he held a finger up to my lips, smiling as he turned to me and slowly backed me up til my back hit the wall.
“I-”
“Hush now, let’s look at where I’ll be living with the love of my life,” he turned back to my side and opened his arm to the room.
Maybe it wouldn’t be the worst with him.
*
“Look at these Polaroid!”
James came running around the corner, the pickles Lily asked for nowhere to be seen as he carried a box with stickers on it.
“Oi, blimey,” Peter jumped up, grabbing the box from James and opening it to see a box full of muggle Polaroid they’ve been taking since first year.
“It’s Sirius when he got glasses,” Remus held a Polaroid of Sirius sitting on his bed in his dorm with square-shaped glasses sitting on his nose.
“You wear glasses!” I reached for the photo, Sirius jumped for it but Remus held it back until my fingers were close enough to grab.
“That was second year,” he reached around me for it but I turned closer to Lily and her baby bump to look over the photo better.
He looked horrible mad, which made sense. I looked to the bottom that wrote ‘Sirius Nerd Phase’ and a small giggle fell past my lips.
“They’re for reading!” He finally got the photo from between my fingers, shoving it in his coat pocket most likely to burn.
“I found (Y/N) and Sirius when he brought her to the dorm,” James held up, showing Lily as I leaned over to get a look. I had all of Sirius's blankets wrapped around my body as Sirius had a pillow he was using as a blanket while he sat staring at me.
“You still steal the blankets,” he whispered in my ear, the smirk obvious in his voice as I smiled at the sight.
“I can’t help it, you fell in love with a blanket theft.”
*
“Whooo!”
I held my hands reach to the air in the convertible James let us borrow for the trip downtown. I heard Sirius giggle from beside me as we drove down the street with a smile across my face.
“I love this car, think James will want it back?” I turned to Sirius who was watching me as his eyes filtered back to the road every so often to make sure no cars came out of nowhere.
“He’ll sell it soon with the baby but I don’t think I can give my dear motorcycle up love,” he spoke gently, like you would when telling a baby no to the candy in the store.
“So you don’t want to see this image for the rest of your life?” I lifted my eyebrows at him while giving a great big smile.
“Trust me it’s drawn into my brain forever,” he reached over waiting for a kiss, the car still flying through the air as he waited for me. I reached for him but my eyes filtered to the bright red light not far above us.
“Red light!”
Sirius looked up, slamming on breaks as soon as he saw it. A giant truck flew past us as soon as the car stopped, I felt my hand reach for my heart as I let my breathing steady out.
“Sorry love wasn’t paying attention,” he mumbled out, guilt-filled. I only nodded and let myself calm from the almost accident.
“We definitely can keep this car.”
*
“Shit!”
I slammed my hand to the table, my eyes watering at the thought of the last meeting, knowing Lily and James and Alice and Frank were now going into hiding to be safe.
“Love?”
Sirius walked into the kitchen, his eyes soft for the first time in months. With the war coming up the trust he had in everyone was slowly dissipated and he felt far away so seeing him look at me with emotions felt weird.
“Hey, sorry,” I let my thumb wipe my tears, looking at the clock that read 3:28 and I felt bad for waking him up with my sniffling and anger.
“It’s fine,” he slowly walked around the counter, watching me as I turned to the fridge and opened the door to look at the empty box of cold air.
“I’ll be quiet,” I mumbled back when I felt his arms wrap around me, I was amazed as he barely touched me anymore.
“Come to bed, yeah?”
“In a minute,” I still couldn’t bring myself to sleep and I knew he’d watch me until I did.
He waited with his arms still around my waist, a small tune humming between his lips when he started swaying.
“Sirius-”
“Dance with me like we did when I proposed,” he whispered gently in my ear, bringing a shiver up my spine at how cold his breath was. I thought about it for a minute before turning in his arms and letting him sway us side to side.
When I felt tears reach my eyes I buried my head into his collar bone, small chuckles rubbed his chest.
“Stop acting as I’ve never seen you cry.”
“You act weird when I do,” my voice was muffled on his skin and I felt his gon ridge for a second before he calmed down.
“Hate to see you cry is all.”
Nothing was said as the only light that filled the room was from the fridge as we swayed back and front until I slowly fell asleep in his arms.
*
“Oh don’t go there!”
Sirius pointed a nasty finger at my chest, his once warm grey eyes cold as they color itself.
“I wouldn’t have too if you started trusting someone once in a while,” I felt the anger in my chest bubble but attempted to stay calm for his sake.
“Remus is a werewolf for crying out loud-”
“You act as he asked for it!”
He let his finger drop, his eyes full of hurt as he watched me.
“You’re sleeping with him,” his voice wasn’t even a question like he knew the answer.
“Oh my Merlin Sirius, no I’m not sleeping with your best mate-”
“James is my best mate, Remus is a traitor,” he mumbled the words, looking at me with wild eyes.
“He’s not a traitor, we don’t know who the mole is yet!”
“Oh my you are sleeping with him,” he dropped the paper that was once rolled in his hand to the floor and let his finger run through his hair.
“I’m not sleeping with him, I haven’t slept with anyone in months because apparently you don’t want to touch me anymore,” I felt the anger overflow with each word, tired of all these stupid fights were kept having.
“Oh so you’re horny so you sleep with him,” he spat out the words like venom, slowly walking closer to me with each word.
“Stop talking about him like that! He’s been your best friend for years even when you lost everything he stood right there and you’re going to backstab him? What are you going to do to me?”
I was roaring with anger, stepping closer to me with each step I took as I looked to him with anger.
“Is your plan to get me pregnant and run? Maybe ruin my reputation in the wizarding world with my dirty secrets?”
“Shut up (Y/N)-”
“Gonna beat me like mommy did you,” I wished I had stopped talking at that moment but it was too late.
“Get the hell out of this house.”
I didn’t fight, turning to grab my coat and ran out the door. I slammed the door and looked to the wall outside, my breath heavy as I ran to the phone box to call Remus, hoping for a place to stay.
*
“Merlin.”
I sat on Remus' bed, my eyes heavy as I read the letter in my hand from Sirius.
Dear (L/N),
I revoke my proposal, please send the ring back as it’s a family heirloom and has no business in a nasty hag finger-like yours.
From, you should know unless you have multiple proposals
Remus sat beside me, rubbing his hand up and down my shoulder with sad eyes as he read the letter himself.
“I’ve sent three letters apologizing and I even went to him himself,” I spoke with a shaky voice, slowly dragging the ring from my finger as I read the letter again just to make sure it was his handwriting and this wasn’t a cruel prank from James.
“Stakes are high right now, once this war is over he’ll be waiting for you.”
I tried to listen to his words but all I could focus on was the fact that all that love we once shared was fake like it wasn’t real anymore.
*
“I’m sorry about the bite, I was aiming for the rat.”
Sirius had the red-headed boy arm around him as he helped carry him from the shake.
“Hey, Moon?”
“Yes?”
“Have you’ve spoken to- uhm her?”
Remus was taken aback by the question, as he never thought he’d speak about the two in the same sentence ever again.
“After the Order broke she left for the states, haven’t spoken since.”
Sirius said nothing as they reached the end of the tunnel, sitting the boy down before looking to the Black Lake quickly. His heart broke as he knew that they'd kissed moons ago.
“Maybe you can write her-” Remus' voice sounded far away as he walked to the edge to look to the castle, where he’d meet everyone who ever meant something to him.
“I’m sorry,” he whispered to the air, hoping to carry his voice to the state for her to hear because she deserves that much.
*
“Wow.”
Harry sat in amazement as I finished the many stories from Remus and I about his godfather, waiting in his empty house for the rest of the Order to arrive.
“He was on a trip,” I spoke in a cracked voice, Remus rubbing my knee as the emotions started hitting me. If only I came back a year earlier I could have seen him one last time, maybe I’d save him or maybe we’d run away together.
“He always knew what to say, you know.”
Remus picked up, sharing a few stories he felt Harry should know for the sake of the missing piece of him.
“He loved wearing another sweater,” Remus laughed at the distant memories when I fell into a loud fit of giggles.
“I never got that stupid scarf back, that bright green one with the flowers from the Black Lake,” I spoke most to Remus as he would remember it better than Harry.
“Green scarf?”
I nodded, smiling at his pleased face when he turned around with it hanging from his neck like a fashion show. Harry stood up quickly for where we sat on the floor, running to the cupboard under the stairs and looking through a box.
I couldn’t see what was in his hand until he turned back to the once-living room with it in his hand.
I felt my hand fly to my mouth, looking at that stupid scarf that Harry held between his fingers, still as bright as the day he stole it from me.
“It has something on it,” Harry walked to us, holding the scarf to me which I was scared to touch. The smallest piece of me hoped that touching it would bring him back like his soul was stuck to it or something.
I took the soft material from his hands, my brain working a mile a minute as I looked to the rolled-up letter that was pinned to the bottom of the scarf.
I quickly unpinned it, taking the parchment in-between my own fingers and read over the words that looked rushed.
Dear Goody Two Shoes,
You learned how to behave so I thought best to stick to one of my promises to you. I also returned the ring because it doesn’t fit on anyone’s finger as it did on yours, you were never a hag. Enjoy this photo and you better never show it to a soul.
From, Your Love
I felt tears stream down my face, looking at the old ring that was taped to the bottom of the parchment with the Polaroid of his beside it.
“Oh Merlin Rem, he kept it all,” my voice was strained as I spoke, Remus moved to sit beside me and brought me to his side.
Oh, Merlin, I remembered it all too well.
im horrible at angst so i’m sorry this is kinda a mess

our perfect little family

Warnings: swearing, a bad pregnancy experience
Summary: anon requested:
“hi!! i absolutely love ur imagines 🥺 i was thinking maybe u could do one where chris’ gf is pregnant and they break up (unrelated to the pregnancy) but chris still is in her life and they get back together after the baby is born 👉👈 just an idea! hope u’re staying safe! <3″
Word Count: 1.7k
Pairing: Chris Evans x Reader
[A/N I’ve never been pregnant so I don’t know much about the ins and outs of it, I’ve tried as much as possible to be accurate but if anything isn’t quite right you know why]
*:・゚✧*:・゚✧
You paced the bathroom of yours and Chris’ shared home. Heart in your throat as you watched the timer on your phone. You sat down on the toilet lid, knees bobbing, head in your hands. Never had you expected to feel the amount of dread you did at that moment. While many people in a relationship feel excited about a possible pregnancy, you on the other hand felt a sense of impending doom.
The alarm beeped on your phone causing your breath to hitch in your throat. “Ok [Y/N], you’ve got this. No matter what it says you’ll be okay” You muttered a pep talk to yourself as you twisted to pick up the pregnancy test from the sink. “Fuck,” the two lines on the pregnancy test were bold and dark. There was no denying or doubting whether your child was currently growing inside you.
Your head began to spin. Yours and Chris’ relationship had been rocky for a few months and was hanging on by a thread. Virtually every conversation you would have would be an argument, which lead to Chris sleeping on the sofa and an awkward apology the next morning. However, this was cyclical and happened most nights. You ached for the relationship you once had, one filled with laughter and joy. With stolen kisses and romantic endeavours.
Your hand moved down to your stomach, “Hello baby,” You whispered, your eyes beginning to well with tears. “I’m gonna protect you no matter what-” You were interrupted by the sound of your boyfriend shouting you from downstairs. “Where are you? I’ve been looking for you. I-” He pushed the door of your en suite open, his gaze dropping to the pregnancy test in your grasp and your hand held softly on your belly.
“What’s that?” He asked softly, frozen in his spot in the doorway. You didn’t respond, silently handing him the pregnancy test. His poker face while studying the white stick in front of him made you flood with concern, your hand never leaving your stomach as your knee continued to bob anxiously.
“You’re pregnant?” He finally whispered looking up at you with watery eyes, causing you to nod. He cautiously walked toward you, kneeling next to you on the cold tiles. He delicately lifted his hand so that his fingertips could brush your cheek softly, causing you to look at his face, a small smile etched on his face, as slow tears trickled down his cheeks.
“I know things haven’t been great between us recently...” He hesitated, taking a second to breathe and observe your reaction. “But you don’t know how happy this makes me.” His voice was barely audible.
“We-We’re gonna make this work right Chris?” You questioned, “No matter what happens this baby is always gonna have us right?”
“That’s what you’ve been worrying about?” He asked incredulously, “No matter what I’m gonna be there for our child... Nothing in the world would ever stop me from being the best Dad.” His hand hesitantly drifted to your own that rested upon your belly, as if seeking permission from you, unsure of how you would react.
“That’s our baby in there Chris” You whispered, and he gave your hand a tight squeeze as he interlocked his fingers with yours. A comfortable silence washed over the two of you, and you prayed that this feeling would never end.
*:・゚✧*:・゚✧
But of course it did. A baby was never going to fix the problems you and Chris had had. You both quickly realised that the stress of your relationship was not good for you or the baby. So just as you entered the second trimester you and Chris had ended your relationship, a mutual decision that pained the both of you each day.
Chris had moved out of your shared home, not wanting you to have to put too much pressure or stress on yourself by being the person to leave. So as you spent the first night alone in your large Boston home you had cried whilst sitting on the sofa, Dodger curled up on your lap as the sounds of your sobs echoed across the empty halls. Your phone beeped on the coffee table in front of you and you leaned forward to retrieve it and read the message.
chris 🤍: I’m so sorry for everything. I’m so grateful for everything you have, had and will do for me and our child. Sleep well, I’ll see you soon x
Silent tears trickled down your face as your heart shattered even more.
*:・゚✧*:・゚✧
The pregnancy passed in a blur and you had hated every minute of it. Not only were the hormones surging through your body making you feel emotionally, mentally and physically horrendous, but your crippling loneliness made it awful as well. Yes, you had yours and Chris’ family around you in the day which made it that little bit easier. But at night when it was just you and Dodger alone in the house, the house that was a constant reminder of your failed relationship.
Chris had tried to be there for you in any way he could, and it pained him to see you so damaged by the pregnancy. He felt to blame, and yet it was inappropriate of him to try and help relieve some of your symptoms.
Chris on the day that marked exactly four weeks before your due date had found himself parked up on the driveway of your home just watching you and waiting in case anything happened. You were struggling to walk at this stage and while you had insisted to Chris that you could take care of yourself (”Chris I’ve got this, go home I’ll be fine” you had winced as a sharp pain shot through your back). However, he knew that was just your stubbornness shining through.
So to settle his nerves Chris had camped outside of your house in his car, just in case you needed him, and as he watched you through the window standing at the kitchen. He smiled, staring at your swollen belly as you chopped vegetables at the island. His adoration for you had only grown throughout your pregnancy, he craved your attention and affection, he wanted nothing more than to be able to stand behind you now hands on your swelling stomach, kissing your hair comfortingly as you talk about your day.
His affection was quickly converted to concern however as he watched your eyes widen and hands clutch your stomach. He leant forward as he watched your look down at the floor and then grab your phone, his own beginning to ring immediately.
“Hey!” He answered, “What’s wrong?”
“You’re still outside aren’t you?” You questioned wincing.
“Yeah, why?” Chris breathed, anxiety piling up with every second that passed.
“I-I think my water just broke” You breathed, Chris immediately jumped out of the car, dropping his phone into the centre console. He raced into the house, fumbling with his keys to open the door. When finally the lock gave and he was able to rush inside he found you knelt on the kitchen floor trying to clean up the fluid that had leaked.
“Babe what are you doing?” He questioned incredulously, the nickname rolling off his tongue out of habit.
“Labour could take days, and then I’ll probably stay at the hospital for a few more. I’m not coming back in pain after having this baby and having to clean up the floor,” You explained, causing Chris to let out an exasperated laugh. “And what do you think I’m gonna be doing when this baby comes, just watching you do everything. I’ll clean this up for you” He knelt down in front of you taking the cloth from your hand. “Why don’t you head out to the car?” He questioned, “I’ll grab the bag and take Dodger round to Mrs. Dalloway.” All you could do was nod as a contraction occurred, causing your face to scrunch up and you to moan in pain.
Chris dashed around the house making sure everything was in order as you shuffled to the car. When he eventually climbed into the car, the faint sound of the radio as you text yours and Chris’ parents to let them know what was happening so they could meet you at the hospital. “You ready to have a baby?” He questioned, and you nodded wide eyed. A sense of fear reverberating between you.
*:・゚✧*:・゚✧
36 hours. That’s how long it took for you to bring Emilia Grace Evans into the world. But it was so worth it. The moment you and Chris heard her cries you had made eye contact and shed tears. You fell back onto the hospital bed exhausted as the nurses shuffled to take care of you.
“Well done,” Chris whispered brushing your sweat-ridden hair away from your face. “You did so well,” He pressed a firm kiss to your temple as the midwife congratulated you on your baby girl. She was placed onto your chest, and at last you felt at peace. You felt normal again for the first time in eight months, and as your eyes moved from your beautiful newborn daughter to your ex-boyfriend, you knew that you couldn’t do this without him. The adoration in his eyes as he watched you whisper comforting words to your daughter.
It was an unspoken agreement to continue your relationship. It naturally just happened. The moment you were discharged from hospital Chris had gradually moved back into your home. You shared a bed again, he cared for you as you recovered from the ordeal that was giving birth.
And after a month of living this way you had asked what you were while rocking Emilia to sleep on your porch swing. “We’re just us, [Y/N]” Chris whispered. “We’re just our perfect little family” He smiled as Dodger nuzzled his leg.
“Our perfect little family,” You repeated, looking up at him and leaning up to kiss him as the evening sun washed over you.

Lost Part 5
Harry Potter Marauders Era
Link to Part 4
Pairings: Regulus Black x Reader
Rating: M- smut
Song at the beginning.: Clarity by Zedd
________
'Cause you are the piece of me I wish I didn't need Chasing relentlessly, still fight and I don't know why If our love is tragedy, why are you my remedy? If our love's insanity, why are you my clarity? If our love is tragedy, why are you my remedy? If our love's insanity, why are you my clarity?
The next morning, you stood finishing getting ready for the trip home. You were more than ready to have some time with your family. Maybe it could give you some time to think about what you should do with your feelings for Regulus. You knew that you wanted to talk to him but you had to figure out what you were going to say. If you went up to him now, you would be a stuttering idiot and make a fool out of yourself.
You internally slapped your forehead at that thought of going up to Regulus unable to speak and only staring at his covered left arm. It would be a disaster in the making and he would probably make fun of you for it.
He wouldn’t make fun of you. He wants to talk as much as you do.
Your mind added, chastising your previous thought.
“Knock knock.”
Your thoughts were interrupted as James stepped into the room. He gave you a smile as he closed the door behind him.
“I wanted to bring you something to make this train trip a bit easier.”
He held out his invisibility cloak with a grin. You couldn’t help but smile as James turned to walk out the door.
“Aren’t you going to say something about my relationship with Regulus?”
James shook his head.
“Why do you think that I brought you my cloak? I expect it back in one piece.”
The two of you shared a grin before James walked out. You immediately felt better. James knew how to make you smile without even saying a word. His action also showed how much he cared. This was classic James Potter.
(Meanwhile)
Regulus lay on his back looking up at the ceiling. The previous evening had been a complete mess. He hadn’t found one trace of you. It was as if you had simply vanished off of the planet again.
“Where could one girl go?”
He muttered, realizing that he would soon have to go back home without speaking to you. Christmas was going to be a complete bust this year. He would spend the whole break in a hellish mood and close to snapping.
The only lucky thing about the situation was his parents would leave him the hell alone. Walburga was so wrapped up in herself that she would probably be fawning over her appearance the whole time. Orion would assume that Regulus had a rough term or was brooding over one of his duties as a death eater and stay the fuck away. Regulus was fine with both of those. The most that he would have to face his parents would be Christmas day dinner when the whole cult of a family turned up.
“This is going to suck.”
Regulus muttered as Evan walked in.
“Are you ready to go?”
Regulus sat up and nodded. He pulled on his suit jacket with a frown.
“I suppose you still haven’t spoken with Y/n.”
“What makes you say that?”
Regulus snapped. Evan shrugged.
“Instinct. Intuition...the fact that you are acting like you haven’t had your little nap…”
Regulus sighed.
“I’m sorry. I just can’t find her. It's like every time that I get close...she disappears. How can I apologize if I can’t talk to her?”
Evan smiled.
“It just shows that no matter which house we pick a lover from, women are always flighty.”
Regulus had to admit that he was starting to agree with Evan on something. If he could just get one blasted word in with you!
(Sometime later…)
You sat Remus as the train started to move. It had been some time since Regulus had walked by with Evan and you were half tempted to take the invisibility cloak off.
“Wait.”
James said as Regulus came back toward the compartment and opened the door.
“Where is Y/n?”
Sirius shrugged.
“Haven’t seen her. Why?”
Regulus scowled at his brother trying to ignore the amused expression on his face.
“I need to talk to her and she has seemingly vanished. If anyone you knows where she is I would like you to tell me.”
James shrugged.
“Thirsty people would like water. You wants aren’t all that special.”
Lily smirked at James while Remus spoke. He decided to be the nice one.
“I’m sorry, Regulus. We haven’t seen her since leaving school. She went off with some of her other friends.”
You squeezed Remus' arm as you sadly watched Regulus’ face. The poor boy looked a mixture of annoyed and upset. Regulus didn’t show this much emotion on a typical basis so seeing him like this was surprising to you. You were tempted to take off the invisibility cloak and speak to him but it would be an epic disaster with all of your friends watching. They had been nice enough not to bring up the relationship but they would have things to say if you started talking to Regulus in front of them.
“Fine. When you see her, tell her that I want to talk to her.”
“Yeah, okay.”
James replied as Regulus turned and stormed out of the compartment. You immediately took off the cloak and stood to see which direction he had gone in.
“Wait, Y/n.”
Sirius said carefully as he stood and joined you at the door. He put a hand on the small of your back in hopes that you wouldn’t run out the door.
“He’s gone back to his death eater friends.”
Sirius whispered, so no one else would hear. The last thing that he wanted was for you to run into a pack of Slytherins that would give you grief. He had a bad feeling that Regulus wouldn't protect you properly if his friends were added to the equation.
“I know.”
Arriving back in London, you wrapped your arm through Remus and Sirius’ as they laughed at some lame joke James made about a coconut. You exchanged an eye-roll with Lily as your mother’s eager waiving caught your attention.
“Y/n! Lily!”
You let go of Remus and ran over to where your parents stood. Wrapping your arms around your mother, you sighed happily. Your mother was the one person that could comfort you without even saying one word.
“Look how pretty you’ve gotten in just a few months.”
Your father said as he and your mother switched daughters.
“You’re funny, dad.”
You replied, hugging him again.
“Y/n who is that boy?”
Your mother’s voice asked softly. Turning, you froze seeing Regulus staring at you from across the platform. The two of you locked gazes for a moment before who had to be Walburga pulled him into an awkward hug.
“His name is Regulus. He’s Sirius’ brother. We are in the same year.”
You replied as innocently as possible.
“He’s been staring at you since you stepped off of the train.”
Your mother replied.
“He’s my potions partner. I suppose we are kind of friends.”
You replied, keeping your attention on Regulus for a moment longer. He stood talking to who had to be his father. You hadn’t seen his parents before. Now you could see where both Sirius and Regulus got their good looks from. Walburga and Orion were absolutely stunningly gorgeous people. Granted, they looked like they hated everyone around them but they were still lovely.
“He’s a nice-looking boy.”
Your mother’s voice pulled you from your thoughts.
“Yes, he is.”
Over the next few days, you tried to keep your mind off of Regulus as much as possible. You wanted to spend your time with your family. They needed your attention now. Your parents were pleasant as ever as they geared up for the normal Evans family holiday traditions. Petunia was her usual miserable self. The two of you had probably exchanged a total of 4 words since you had come home.
Christmas Eve came quicker than you expected. Sitting in your room with a book on your lap, you yawned knowing it was almost time to go to sleep. Tomorrow would definitely be a busy day. Your mother had invited James’ family and Remus’ family for dinner. Seeing your other friends sounded like the perfect way to spend the holiday!
The found of something hitting your ground floor window caught your attention. Blinking a few times, you slowly stood up and wondered what the hell was going on. Pushing the curtains out of the way and opening the window, you were stunned to see Regulus standing there. Rubbing your eyes a few times, you had to make sure that you were not going crazy.
“What are you doing here?”
You hissed, looking over your shoulder to make sure that your parents didn’t hear anything. They had gone to bed hours before but that didn’t mean they wouldn’t wake up. Turning back to Regulus, he had crossed his arms over his chest as the snow continued to fall around him.
Denying that you had feelings for him was pointless. There he stood dressed in all black and you felt the butterflies in your stomach beginning to churn.
“I needed to talk to you and apparently this is the only way to catch you.”
“My mom and dad are home.”
Regulus raised an eyebrow.
“So? I can keep it quiet. Y/n, I’m not going to hurt you or your family. Please...I just want to talk to you.”
You were clearly debating for a moment before reaching out to him.
“Come on, just be really quiet.”
Regulus carefully pulled himself through your window. He was thankful that you didn’t have an upstairs bedroom or this would have been really difficult.
“I have to say that I have never climbed through a girl’s window before.”
Regulus softly said as you closed the window behind him. He slightly smiled looking at you. Even when you tried to play “tough” you were adorable. Your pretty face just oozed Hufflepuff and it made Regulus want to love you even more.
“What do you want to talk to me about?”
You asked, crossing your arms over your chest the moment that you realized that you were only wearing a thin dressing gown with no bra. Regulus took off the coat that he was wearing.
Damn it.
You thought looking at the way he was dressed. He stood dressed in those tight dress pants that he used to wear whenever it was time to “play” and a dark green dress shirt. Had he always been this good looking?
“I wanted to talk about what happened. Y/n, I need you to hear me out. I only joined the death eaters because my family made me. That doesn’t mean that I am going to stick with it... there are things that I know that others don’t and…”
You sighed. Of course, his family wanted him to join that crazed maniacs ranks. What pureblood family, in the right mind, would want their son to do something like this? This alone told you that Walburga and Orion Black weren’t sane.
“Regulus, just don’t...please. You know that we will never work. We are on opposite sides…Our love is tragedy…”
Regulus quickly stepped toward you but froze when you jumped against the wall clearly frightened. This was the biggest kick in the balls that Regulus had received in a long time. You were scared of him. The girl that he loved more than anyone in the world was afraid to be near him.
“Sweetheart, please. I promise you that I will never hurt you and I think you know it. You know me...my heart...I couldn’t hurt you.”
You sniffed back the forming tears.
“If he told you to hurt me...you would. You would have to. Sooner or later, he will figure it out. I’m sorry but I do not see Voldemort being okay with you dating a mud…”
“Don’t say that.”
Regulus hissed.
“Someone like me.”
You clarified. Regulus not wanting you to say mudblood told you that in his heart he didn’t believe a thing that he was fighting for. Regulus was right. You did know his heart and him being a death eater wasn’t the boy that you knew.
“I’m really good at occlumency, Y/n.”
“I’m sure that he’s better.”
You whispered. Regulus’ hopeful expression hardened.
“Look, I know a secret of his and it's big. It will hurt him big time but I need time to put everything together but I need him to trust me. I need you to trust me too. Y/nm I wouldn’t have snuck out of my family's haunted house to come to you in the middle of the night if I didn’t care. What we have...it isn’t just the sex...its everything. I need you. You’re good for me and I don’t want to be the person that I was. I have something to prove it too.”
He reached down into this pocket and held out an emerald ring.
“This was my grandmother’s ring. I offer it to you as a promise that I will never hurt you or let anyone else hurt you.”
Regulus stepped closer, keeping his eyes on you the whole time looking for any sign of discomfort. You were silently considering his words. Sneaking out of his parent's house was indeed risky. If they found out that he went to visit his muggle-born lover, it wouldn’t be good for Regulus. You would be lucky to see him again in one piece.
He carefully took your hand in his and slipped the ring on your ring finger.
“I want to marry you, Y/n. You’re the only girl that I could want. We have plenty of time to worry about that later but I want you to know that I want you. You’re the one that I want to chase after for the rest of my life. If my family doesn’t like it...I don’t care. Fuck them.”
You knew that your mouth had dropped. This was a big comment coming from Regulus. If he was willing to walk away from his family, he must really love you. You could only pray that Voldemort wouldn’t change those feelings.
“I want to be with you too. I’m just…”
Regulus stroked his index and middle finger over the ring that was now securely on your hand.
“I know you’re scared and that you don’t fully trust me but all that I ask is for a chance.”
Regulus kept his voice calm and even. He sounded almost angelic which was a huge contrast from his normal tone. Regulus gently cupped your cheek as he stepped closer.
“Kiss me.”
You whispered. Regulus smiled. He knew that was a “yes” and was all that he wanted. Quickly doing as he was told, pulling you into a soft slow kiss... The kiss was gentle at first. This time there was no hate or anger involved; it seemed almost healing. You knew that you didn’t fully trust him. That would take time.
“Reggie.”
You whined against his lips. Regulus wrapped his right arm around your waist to secure your body against his. He leaned down and pressed his forehead against yours.
“I never thought that I would enjoy being called that again. Do you want me to stop?”
Regulus asked before letting his hands run down your arms to grasp your waist. You shook your head. Jumping into bed was probably risky (especially with Petunia sleeping next door) but you wanted this as bad as Regulus clearly did.
“No.”
You whispered. Regulus grinned. He knew that the two of you would have to keep it down. There was no way that either of you could play “rough” right now but it didn’t seem the right time for it anyway. This was more of a time for lovemaking. He needed to show you how much you were actually loved.
“I have a way to make you feel better.”
You shivered as Regulus’ voice deepened.
“The door is locked.”
You whispered as Regulus reached down to tug the thin cotton gown over your head. Regulus pressed you back against the wall. His warm body was the only thing keeping you warm from the chill of the room.
“Good.”
Regulus replied and lowered his lips back to yours before trailing a kiss down your cheek and neck. The hand that was on your waist had ghosted its way to your chest and began to knead the plump flesh of your breast.
You had to fight back a sigh as Regulus bit down on your neck. It was going to be hard to keep things silent when Regulus knew how to touch you just right.
“You still have your clothes on.”
You whined, sounding like an impatient toddler. Regulus chuckled before standing up straight.
“Do something about it then.”
Without having to be told twice, you started for the buttons on his dress shirt and started tugging it out of his dress pants. Regulus gently swatted your hands away.
“Before you literally rip my clothes off of me and I have to go home half-naked…let me do it. Get in bed.”
You quickly did as you were told as Regulus quickly got out of his clothes. His eyes hadn’t left yours as he pushed his shirt off. You swallowed letting your eyes fall down his body. Stopping on the dark mark on Regulus’ arm, you tried not to make an expression as Regulus unbuckled his belt.
“You still take those muggle pills right?”
Regulus asked as he took his place on top of you. You nodded. There was no way that he could cast the contraceptive charm that was usually used. The last thing that neither of you wanted was to get in trouble for using magic outside of school. You tried not to giggle at the thought of having to explain what you were doing to need to use that particular spell.
“Sorry, we were having make up sex.”
You had a feeling that would do neither of you any favors.
“I am.”
Regulus nodded before gently pushing inside. His mouth was on yours to prevent you from moaning too loud. Regulus did not want your parents to hear the noise then walk in. That would be one hell of a way to make the first introduction.
“Hello, Mr. and Mrs. Evans, I am sorry that you walked in on me fucking your daughter. I’m actually a nice boy.”
That was one way to be told to never come back again.
“Reggie, please,”
Regulus was pulled from his thoughts as your body began spasming around his length. He instantly smiled before stroking your cheek with his index finger.
“Would you like me to move, love? I can make you feel good.”
You nodded, eagerly. Regulus slowly started rocking his hips into yours. You watched with a satisfied smile as Regulus’ eyes clenched shut. It was painfully obvious that he was struggling with the whole “sweet gentle lovemaking.” Regulus wanted nothing more than to go right into dom mode and have his way with you.
What you didn’t know was Regulus was struggling to keep his grip on reality. Everything was too perfect. You wanted him. You accepted the ring and was his girl again.
“Reggie, please, harder.”
You gasped, biting your lip as you smiled up at him. Watching Regulus’ eyes as he moved over you, you couldn’t help but love every moment of his hands on your body. His left hand had wrapped around your breast before teasing your nipples.
“Too bad we don’t have any toys right now.”
Regulus commented between thrusts.
“These pretty nipples would look even sexier with some claps on them. Fuck, I could come just by thinking of you handcuffed to this bed.”
Your eyes clenched closed as your body tightened around his. Regulus chuckled.
“I think you like rough play as much as I do, don’t you?”
“Yes...sir.”
You purred the last part. Regulus' eyes snapped open. You gave him an innocent smile, knowing that you were about to open a door to his soul that only you had a key to.
“Such a naughty girl. I would spank your little ass right now if I could. When we get back to school…”
You pulled him down for another kiss.
“Yes, when we get back to school.”
You arched your back as Regulus pushed in balls deep. He gave you a moment to try to adjust to being full before setting up a nice steady rhythm. Your body began to clench around him the moment that the tip of Regulus’ cock hit your g-spot.
“Come, sweetheart.”
Regulus groaned. He gave you one more deep thrust before sending you over the edge. Regulus put his hand over your mouth as you came.
“Perfect. “Hurry and kiss me.”
Regulus ordered. You reached up and pulled him down to you by his hair. As soon as his mouth was on your he groaned into the kiss and erupted inside of you. The two of you lay in a sweaty heap as Regulus pulled out. He wrapped his arms around you and pulled you against his chest.
“Don’t go yet.”
You whispered. Regulus pressed a kiss to your forehead.
“I can’t stay until dawn. Mum and Dad wake up at 5. They’ll know that I’m gone. I can, however, come back tomorrow and we can act like an actual couple.”
You poked your head up, clearly thrilled by his comment. You weren't going to be just Regulus’ little Huffle-buddy or Regulus’ sub or lover anymore. You were going to be his actual girlfriend.
“Do you mean it?”
You questioned. Regulus nodded.
“I promise, now lay down here and let me hold you.”

Fluffy Alphabet for The Trapper (Evan Macmillan)
Comfort - How would they help their s/o when they feel down/have a panic attack etc.?
It may take a while for him to notice you suffering over there in the corner, his head so far lost in his own thoughts that all the world around him was a passing blur. But once he does, when your soft whimpering breaches his overcrowded ears, Evan would immediately call you over. He’d grunt softly, his gruff voice shattering the nights silent air and causing you to raise your head and cast your troubled eyes over him. Evan curses himself for not noticing earlier.
A large, scarred hand stretches out and welcomes you to join. Once you manage to curl up beside him, Evan pulls you even closer, his big arm acting as a makeshift scoop and firmly secures you to his side. He would use his massive body as a shield of sorts to protect you from yourself and the cruel outside world. Though words are not exchanged, your true feelings never really given verbal expression, your anxieties begin to die and burn away from the heat of Evan’s body.
He uses his size to comfort you and his intimacy to project his support for your plea. He is there to guard you, maybe not to talk, but to stay with you until it eventually passes.
Equal - Are they the dominant one in the relationship, or rather passive?
He would be the dominant one. 100%. Though he is not one to verbally command you, it is through side ward looks and scowls that he gets his point across. He folds his arms and looks down at you, the brow behind his mask furrowed in annoyance.
He determines when it is a good time to cuddle, when to smooch him, how hard or how gentle. It’s not the he doesn't enjoy your affections, it’s just that he is very busy man and must plan his time accordingly. As much as he loves to indulge in your love, he must keep up the hard work lest his boss catch wind and take you away.
You can try be a brat to him, stomp your feet and complain about the lack of cuddles. But that little act won’t get you too far with a man who can just pick you up as if you weigh nothing and sling you over his unharmed shoulder. It would be like trying to fight a brick wall - impossible.
Jealousy - Do they get jealous easily? How do they deal with it?
Oh yes - very much so. He gets jealous at even a mere look from another survivor or killer. Though he does not show it, Evan is a very possessive man, guarding his things with the politeness of a viper in a gentleman’s suit. he holds his tongue and steads his hand but his eyes say it all.
You are his and his alone. If you are so interested in other then leave and don’t involve him. But as long as you claim to love him, giving him your body and soul, then he will protect you and possess you like he did with everything else valuable in his life.
He glowers at passerbys, he spits at idle talkers and he flexes his biceps threateningly at lingerers. He towers behind you like great storm, rolling in power and violence. You could ask him why he acted like such a child but you would get no response from him. This was not a talking matter - things like these have to be demonstrated. And so they shall.
How Evan internally deals with this growing lump of jealousy is he sits alone and thinks - more like contemplates. he ponders away and has bountiful ‘shower-conversations’ in his head. Sure acting this way would make him perceive to be an asshole but to hell with what others think. He would die before he’d ask someone to step down.
Kiss - Are they a good kisser? What was the first kiss like?
In the beginning, no way. The man has had little to no practice at all and is completely lost when you first approach him with a smooch. He’s dead stiff and his eyes remain open as if afraid you are pulling some kind of cruel trick on him or that you might disappear in disappointment. His lips are chapped and many times when you have pulled away you find blood on your lips and can taste copper in your mouth. He apologizes for his appearance and asks why you would even wish to be so intimate with such a monster. You reassure him by placing your hand on his cheek and pressing your forehead to his, “Because I love you, Evan.”
However, with enough practice, he softens and succumbs to your encouragement. Once he eases into kissing Evan becomes very demanding and can go quite a long time without breathing. His tongue is also very powerful and is often very hungry. When he gets like this, Evan will cup the back of your head in his big hands and will provide you with extra support as he deepens the kiss, leaning into you with great, needy force. His tongue is unstoppable as his hunger for your love grows.
The first kiss is most definitely awkward and quick, a dream of a kiss that goes by too fast for it to be properly appreciated. You catch him working at his bench, his hands preoccupied with his copious amounts of bear-traps and spare parts. You wander in beside him, casting an eye over his shoulder and noting all the new cuts and bruises on his fingers. You sigh and lean into him. Evan immediately bends to your presence, sighing in his own way and relinquishing some of his attention to you.
Oh, how wonderful you are to him. So kind and forgiving, beautiful as the sun he never sees anymore. Evan moves closer to your warmth, allowing himself to momentarily bask in your love. As his face moves towards yours, an idea sparks and before he could full asses the pros and cons of such a venture, he smashes into your lips. Keep in mind, he was still wearing his mask and when he pulled away, Evan saw blood leaking from small cuts along your lip line. Evan feels unspeakably shameful for hurting you with his neediness. You smile and gently guide his face back to yours. You promise to kiss him more if he takes his mask off next time.
Love Confession - How would they confess to their s/o?
If Evan could go his whole life without admitting he had feelings for you, then he would gladly do so. He has buried many a things deep in his heart, tucking them away under rugs and behind paintings where they would never see the light of day again. Yeah, sometimes the burden of these suppressed emotions would eat away at his soul always leaving him feeling just that bit emptier and hollow.
He supposed he could just bury his love for you the same way he buried everything else, but that bitch had claws and an iron grasp - he simply could not run away from his feelings towards you.
So one night, when the build-up in his chest grew too painful to hush over, Evan stops you as you try to leave. It was late and you were saying your goodbyes when you notice his hesitation. He remained stoic, his face an impossible book of unimaginable rumination. He shuffles awkwardly for moment before managing to choke out a single phrase.
“Stay.”
In that simple word you feel his true intentions, his complete and restrained desperation to not be alone. You see his hand twitch towards you and you understand his silent plea. You nod your agreement and nothing more is said.
XOXO - Are they very affectionate? Do they love to kiss and cuddle?
Most days, not really. Like previously explained, Evan is a man of routine and most of is work days have no spare time for excessive cuddling and the such.
However, he is ALWAYS craving your touch.
When the odd off-day arrives, Evan wastes no time in scooping you up in his large, beefy arms and taking out his frustrations on you. He holds you against his hot body relentlessly, often pressing his chin into the side of your neck and breathing down your side. he kisses you without hesitation and goes wild even your return his affections. He is selfish during these moments and can hold you for hours on end, content just to be with someone who loves him.

It’s You - Chris Evans Imagine
Word Count: 2,555
Warnings: None
Tumblr media
Chris used the key his best friend gave him a couple of years ago. Y/N had given him her key before going on a two week vacation with her family. She didn't trust anyone to bring in her mail and feed her fishes but Chris. When she returned from her trip, Chris handed her back her key, but she insisted he keep it. "It would save me from getting up and letting you in every night for dinner," she joked, making Chris chuckle.
Just like every night since then, Chris let himself in. Tonight was his turn to bring dinner. He picked up a large pizza from her favorite pizza parlor and a pack of beer on the way over. He walked towards the kitchen and placed everything down in the counter.
"Y/N?" He called out. He could hear the TV coming from her bedroom, but he didn't hear her respond back. He made his way to her bedroom and saw her door was slightly open. He knocked. Again, no response. He peeked his head through the open door and noticed Y/N was sitting on her bed. She was focused on a piece of paper in her hands, completely consumed by whatever was written on the paper.
"Hey," Chris spoke, startling her. "Sorry, I didn't mean to scare you. I called you and knocked on your door, but you didn't hear me."
"I'm sorry," Y/N quickly apologized.
"What you got there?" Chris asked as he took off his shoes and sat next to her on her bed. As she looked back down at the invitation in her hand, Chris saw her finger trace the designs on the invitation. He read the two names that were bigger than everything else written on the card, but he had no idea who the bride or groom was.
"It's an invitation," she said before she gave him the pearl white card to him. She watched him read the invitation.
"A friend from back home?" He asked after seeing the wedding was in her hometown.
"Not a friend, my ex," she finally looked up at Chris, who looked at her unsure what to say. She had never spoken to Chris about her ex. She cleared her throat. "He was the one I thought I was going to marry someday."
Chris put the invitation down. "Why would he send you an invitation?"
Y/N shoulders dropped as she let out a deep sigh. "It's a long story."
"I got time," he said as he leaned back and made himself comfortable on her bed. He knew judging by the look on her face, it was going to be a hard story to tell. She would definitely need some comfort as she opened old wounds, and Chris would be there for her. He stretched out his arms. She took his invitation and leaned against his chest. She made herself comfortable and draped her arm over his torso. Chris immediately wrapped his arms around her, one of his hands rubbing up and down her arm.
"He dumped me four years ago," she started to explain. "Without any explanation. He was my best friend-"
"Hey," Chris pretended to sound hurt. "I thought I was your best friend."
She looked up and smiled at him. "You are, and you have been since I moved to LA, but I had a life before I met you."
"Is that why you moved to LA? Because of him?"
She nodded. "It hurt too much to see him around. So, I packed up all my stuff and moved out here."
"I'm glad you did, otherwise I wouldn't have met you," he said as he kissed the top of her head.
"At the time, I didn't understand how I could hate someone I was still in love with," she explained. "It was weird. I thought I was never going to get over him because he was my first love. We were best friends first. We knew each other our entire lives as our dad's were best friends. We started dating our freshman year in high school, and he broke up with me our senior year in college."
"How can someone who was a huge part of your life and have a huge history with dump you with any explanation?" He asked.
She blew her lips together, making a raspberry sound. "I have no idea. It drove me crazy though. I kept wondering why he dumped me. I kept questioning what was wrong with me, what I could have done better, and why I wasn't good enough."
"Hey," Chris' voice was soft and low. He pulled her chin him with his fingertips. "I know that was a long time ago, but please don't even think about yourself like that ever again, okay? You are an amazing person and you are perfect just the way you are, okay? Always remember that."
Y/N swallowed hard as he saw the seriousness in his eyes. He had held her gaze the whole time he spoke, meaning every word he said. He cupped her cheek and brushed his thumb across her smooth skin. The small action made her heart skip a beat. She hated that he had this kind of power over her. He didn't know it as she never told him. Truthfully, she wasn't planning on it because the last time someone had this kind of effect on her, he dumped her without any explanation.
"Okay," she whispered, still feeling paralyzed from his touch.
Chris cleared his throat as he pulled his hand away from her cheek. "So, are you going to the wedding?"
She let out a small sigh. "I kind of have to." Chris furrowed his eyebrows, completely confused and surprised by her answer. "Our dads are still best friends. Growing up, his parents were like my second parents. I was the daughter they never had. They still call me every Sunday afternoon to see how I'm doing. I don't want to disappoint my dad or his parents."
"I get that, but don't they know you're history with your ex?" Chris asked. Y/N nodded in response. "Then, they would understand if you didn't go."
"It's been four years, Chris, and I never thought I'd heal from that heartbreak, but somewhere along the way, I did," she said as she locked eyes with his. "I haven't thought about him in a very long time. I'm not angry anymore. I don't hate him anymore either. Maybe going to his wedding will be the closure I need. Is that so crazy to think?" She asked.
"No, it's not," he answered. He grabbed her hand and began playing with her fingers. She looked down at their hands as he spoke. "I think going might be good for you. It'll close a chapter in your life."
She grabbed his hand and looked up at him. She locked her eyes with his. "Will you go with me? Will you be my plus one?"
He squeezed her hand and gave her a smile. "I'd love to. Plus, I was kind hoping you would ask because I want to see where you grew up," he chuckled.
"Trust me, it's not as amazing as Boston," she chuckled as she remembered Chris surprised her with a trip back to his hometown for his mother's birthday last year.
"Thank you," she whispered as she buried her face in his chest and hugged him tight. "You are the best best friend ever."
Her words caused a pang of pain in his heart as he's always wanted to be something more since the day he met her four years ago. "Of course," he whispered as he kissed her forehead.
***
A month later
"So..." Chris lingered as he slid his hotel key in to open the door. He opened the door wide, signaling Y/N to walk into their shared room first.
Y/N's dad had sold her childhood home earlier this year and moved into a one bedroom apartment with his second wife. Although the apartment was cute and cozy, there wasn't any room for either Y/N or Chris to stay for the weekend. Y/N's dad felt terrible as Y/N and Chris had to stay at a hotel. They didn't mind it. In fact, they preferred it. They didn't want to put him out. Plus, Y/N showed Chris around town, hit all her favorite places, and stayed up talking all night. They didn't have to worry about waking her dad up. However, they didn't dare tell her father they were sharing a room. He would have had a heart attack, even if they had a double bedroom.
"Now that we left the wedding, how do you feel?" Chris asked as he closed the door.
With her heels in her hands, Y/N spun around to face him. She gave him a small smile knowing she was perfectly okay and happy. She was nervous about tonight. She didn't know how she was going to feel attending her ex's wedding and seeing him for the first time since the breakup.
However, tonight she saw her ex happy, the happiest he had ever been, and she was happy for him. Despite their horrible break up, she still cared enough to want him to be happy and live a happy life. Seeing him enjoying what would be one of the best days of his life was exactly what she needed.
"I'm really happy for him," she said honestly. She dropped her shoes by her suitcase. She grabbed her sweats, ready to get out of her dress and bra, and get into something more comfortable. "Give me a second, okay?" She asked before going to the bathroom to change.
While she was in the bathroom, Chris stripped out of his suit and changed into something more comfortable as well. He wore a pair of dark grey sweatpants and a simple white cotton shirt. He grabbed two bottles of water from the mini fridge before getting comfortable in his bed.
He looked up as the bathroom door opened. His eyes lingered over Y/N. She wore a navy blue New England Patriots hoodie Chris got her for Christmas last year, with a pair of dark grey sweatpants similar to his, and had a pair of warm fuzzy socks on. Though she looked extremely sexy in her black strapless dress that she wore to the wedding, Chris prefers Y/N in sweats. To him, she was beautiful when she was comfortable. It made him want to grab her and snuggle with her, but he couldn't.
Y/N grabbed the left over pizza they ordered for lunch and brought it over to his bed. She sat down in front of him and opened the box, immediately grabbing a slice to ease her hunger. She spent the majority of the night on the dance floor with Chris.
Chris admired how beautiful she looked without her makeup. She didn't put too much on tonight. She had a natural and simple look. A lot of the girls at the wedding caked their faces with layers of makeup. Y/N looked stunning tonight and Chris couldn't keep her eyes off of her. Now that she took off her makeup, Chris still had trouble keeping his eyes off off of her.
"What?" She asked, suddenly feeling self conscious as she caught Chris staring at her longer than he probably should have.
He gave her a genuine smile, the one she loves, and shook his head. "Nothing. You were saying," he said as he reached in for a slice of pizza.
"I'm gonna be honest with you, Chris. I hadn't thought about my ex in years. A part of me knew I was over him, especially since I started developing feelings for someone else, but I still needed that closure. You were right. Going to his wedding tonight definitely closed an old chapter in my life."
Chris has stopped chewing his pizza the second she mentioned she had feelings for someone else. She had never mentioned that fact to Chris, nor had she hinted that she was interested in someone. He was hurt. Although it's not what he wanted to hear, he was still hurt that she couldn't come to him about it. They were best friends who shared everything, well almost everything.
He swallowed the piece of pizza in his mouth before asking, "you like someone else?"
"Out of everything I just said, that's what you want to talk about?"
"Well, yeah. I mean, I thought we told each other everything. Why didn't you tell me you like someone else?"
"I don't know," she shrugged her shoulder as she looked down. "Maybe because I know he doesn't love me back."
"Love?!" Chris said a little too loudly. He got out of bed and started pacing back and forth. "This whole time you've been in love with someone else and you never thought to once mention it to me?!"
"Why does it matter?!" She snapped back, suddenly angry as she stood up on her knees. "It's not like it would have made a difference."
"Yeah, it might have," he said quietly as he stood in front of her.
"How?" She looked at him straight in the eye.
"Had I known you were in love with someone else, maybe I would have tried to stop myself from falling in love with you," he said honestly. He let out a heavy sigh as he ran his hand through his hair. "Who am I kidding, Y/N? I don't think I would have never stopped." He scratched the back of his neck as he noticed the surprised look on Y/N's face. "I think I should go."
"No."
"What?"
She reached out and grabbed a fist full of his shirt. She pulled him in, taking Chris by surprise. She gently cupped his cheek and looked deep into her favorite pair of blue eyes. "You came in my life when I needed someone. You became my best friend, the person I could always count on to be there for me, and the one I could tell everything to. I realized I never had someone like you. I thought I did, but, you...," she trailed and slightly shook her head. "It's you," she whispered.
It took Chris a second to process what she had just admitted. His heart was beating out of his chest. He wrapped his arms around her waist and held her tight before leaning in for a kiss. Their kiss was slow and passionate, one that was making up for lost time. Their lips not only moved in perfect sync, but molded perfectly with each other's.
Kissing Chris now, Y/N realized she was never really in love before. Her ex, and all the other guys she made out with afterwards, were nothing compared to the electric shiver Chris sent down her. The warmth of his body and with his arms wrapped around her body made her feel safe and protected. She wanted to be in his arms forever.
They pulled back when the burning in their lungs became unbearable. Their foreheads were pressed together, their noses brushing each other's, and their warm breath fanning against their lips.
"It's you," she whispered again.
"It's always been you, too," Chris said looked deep in her eyes. "I love you, Y/N," he whispered.
She brushed her fingertips against his cheekbones, "I love you, too, Chris."

Chapters: 1/1 Fandom: Harry Potter - J. K. Rowling Rating: Mature Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply Relationships: James Potter/Lily Evans Potter Characters: James Potter, Lily Evans Potter Additional Tags: Morning After, Goodbyes, Sharing a Shower, reluctant goodbyes Series: Part 2 of The Marauders Pub Soho Summary:
The morning after a night of passion Lily has to leave a soundly sleeping James, but she doesn't want to.
Lily lay staring at the skylight, and watched the patch of sky turn from black to indigo. She just gazed without moving, hardly even blinking as it gradually grew lighter and lighter. She had not been able to find any rest for more than a few brief snatches, as tired as she was. Her whole body zinged with electricity, her brain abuzz with everything that had happened last night and had continued to happen throughout the night. She glanced over towards the body sleeping soundly beside her, the sheets pooled around his waist showing his toned back. He had acquired some new tattoos in the six years since she had last seen him. When she’d remarked on the delicately detailed Lily that was now inked on his right side sweeping across his ribs, he had quipped back that it marked the spot where she had stuck her knife in him when she’d left him to pursue her career. That remark had stung more than she wanted to admit, even though she did deserve it.
She had told him last night she never wanted to leave his side again, and she had meant it. Especially at that moment, standing in the bar he basically built, surrounded by the memories of their childhood. Engulfed by the overwhelming scent of James himself. At that moment it had been so easy to say yes to all of his questions, say yes to coming here to his place instead of going back to her hotel as she had planned. She wished she could stay in this moment, with the old day finished and the new not yet begun. In this bed with this man forever. But all too soon she would have to leave. She needed to get on a plane in a few hours. If she didn’t, then any dream she had to live in London permanently would be gone.
She glanced around James's attic room trying to see if he even had a clock. She was amazed that he still lived like this. There was a rail for his clothes and a bed so low it was almost like the mattress was on the floor. That was it. She hoped he didn’t live like this all the time, but she suspected his life and energy was spent at the bar.
It had looked so beautiful, the large dark polished oak panels and the brass rail, the small stage with the piano sitting proudly. And all the pictures on the walls of their schooldays. It had always been his dream to run a bar, and the four Marauders had made it a successful reality, but she knew who had been driving it from day one, and she was  incredibly proud of him for that.
She reached for her clutch bag and fumbled in it for her phone. It did not light up when she tapped the screen. Her battery must have died.
Fuck.
She glanced over at James, still sleeping soundly, and contemplated waking him, but she knew he was exhausted. She had wiped him out, she thought to herself, suppressing a giggle, it had been a wonderful night. He had not forgotten any of the things he used to do to make her whole body hum, and he had learned a few new things too she had discovered. His strength and stamina had greatly increased. Not that she had expected him to hold himself chaste for her, but she still had a pang of jealousy at the thought that other women had touched him, had been with her James. Had they asked about his tattoo? She always thought of him as hers, even though she hadn’t exactly expected to ever come back to him that day she had left. Any time before now when she had considered it she talked herself out of it because she was convinced he would be with someone else.
She rolled over onto her back again, and looked up at the skylight.
What time was it?
She’d hoped she wouldn't have to do this but she slid off the edge of the bed and took James’s phone out of the pocket of his jeans and opened it, shaking her head at the stubborn distrust for technology that meant he still used an old flip phone. Although at the moment Lily was grateful because she didn’t have to worry about unlocking it.
She tapped in the digits for her assistant's number as she crept into his ensuite, slipping on the dressing gown that was on a hook behind the door.
The phone rang just once before she heard an unsure “Hello?”
“Hey, Jess it’s me…”
“Lily!” came the scream, causing her to jump and nearly drop the phone. “Where the fucking hell have you been? I’ve been calling you all night. Your meeting has been moved up, you need to get to the airport right now!”
“What? Oh, fuck!” Lily took a breath and closed her eyes as her assistant kept rambling over the phone, talking so fast Lily could hardly understand them. “Jess, Jess, Jessie!” She tried to speak urgently and sharply without making too much noise. “I need you to bring me my bag and my suit, the green one. Put an extra pair of underwear in my bag.”
“I’m sorry, Lily, but your overnight bag won’t be enough, I've had to pack your suitcase, you’ll be staying for a week. They’ve sent a whole itinerary, but when we left Hong Kong I didn’t think to pack any of your formal wear. I’ve arranged for the concierge to book a fitting for after your first meeting, once you’ve checked in. Where are you anyway? I need to let Terrence know where we need to come and get you.”
Lily went to answer then realised she had no actual idea of the address. It wasn’t far from the bar, she didn’t think. But she had been interested in other things besides looking out the car window to notice what neighbourhood they were in. Lily looked up as the door to the bathroom swung open gently, revealing a conscious James leaning against the frame wearing only his battered looking jeans, his tousled hair framing his tired-looking face and his glasses perching on the end of his nose, as if they were mere moments from falling off.
She let the phone fall from her ear slightly as he continued to stare at her, a wry smile reaching only the edge of his lips.
“Something tells me you aren’t staying for breakfast.” His tone was light but she heard the resignation behind it. As she looked over at her childhood sweetheart, an idea struck her.
“Jess? You still there? Pick me up outside the Marauders’ Pub in Soho. Yeah? And Jess? I'm gonna need another plane ticket.”
“Well, okay boss but they are sending you a priv…..” Lily did not hear the last of her assistant’s words as she closed the flip phone and tossed it back to him.
“I can't believe you still use that antique.” He caught it deftly in his left hand and dropped it into his back pocket.
“I can’t believe I’m letting you dick around with my life again,” he replied, barely even trying to mask the disappointment.
“As much as I'd love to have this argument again, I really need you to pack yourself a bag. Do you have a good suit that fits you?”
He shook his head and blinked at her as she brushed past him to his rail of clothes and started looking through them. He still had some nice attire here, a lot of it she remembered from their life before.
“Lily, wait,” he called after her but she took no notice. She had no time. Already, in her head, she was mapping out what she needed to do. A whole week with these people. The one day originally planned would have been torture, but this... If she had back up maybe she could make it work.  “Stop.” He placed a hand on hers as it rested on the next coathanger. She looked up into his gorgeous eyes as they shone with all the colours as his emotions played out across his face. He was always so expressive. “What are you doing?”
“I want you to come with me.”
“I can’t.”
“Why not? You’re your own boss, you could take the time off. It’s not like you’re the only one in charge. What about Sirius? Or Remus? Or even Pete?” She paused, “Is Pete doing okay? I thought he wanted to go in a, erm, different direction but I saw his name up there with the rest of you?”
He sighed and rubbed his eyes under his glasses. “Pete is a silent partner, he helps out when he can but his wife made him join their family business, he helps by keeping them away.” His hand dropped to his side. “Lily I can’t afford to just drop everything, everybody else has other responsibilities, I’m the only one left to run it and I won't let it fail. My staff depends on me.”
“James, this is me telling you I don’t want to leave you again. I don’t want to go on this trip without you by my side, I could use someone in my corner. I could also use a devilishly handsome, charming, charismatic–” he raised an eyebrow at her seductive tone but didn’t stop her putting her hands on his chest, tracing the antlers that spread across them.
“My tattoos aren’t very corporate,” he murmured, his voice sounding deep and throaty. she shrugged in reply,
“You’d be surprised what people hide under their suits these days.” She told him with a twinkle, sobering when his lips thinned. “Please James. I need you.” She hadn’t realised how true those words were until she had spoken them to the universe.
“I’m sorry Lily, but my staff need me more. They rely on me.”
“So you’ve never taken a day off? Never had to call in sick?” Before he could answer her questions an idea struck her. “What if I pay your staff for the week? How much would that be?” He stood for a moment apparently stunned then started laughing and stepped away from her, sitting down on the edge of the bed. She tried not to look upset at his reaction to her suggestion. She stood watching him and waited for his mirth to subside.
“Oh, you are actually serious? You want to pay me so I will spend time with you?” He shook his head as his mirth still rippled through him. “This isn’t Pretty Woman and I’m not some, some...rentboy you picked up off the street.”
Now he sounded angry. James’ phone started buzzing in his back pocket. She had not thought that offering to pay his staff would equate  to her hiring him as an escort service. Her brain hadn’t gone that way at all. She let him answer his call, as she rushed back to the bathroom for a much needed shower and tried to clear her head.
James may have skimped on bedroom furniture but he hadn’t skimped on his wet room. The shower was a walk-in style and big enough for four people, the naturally textured tiles on her feet were warm as she walked in, the large slabs of highly polished sand-coloured stone on the walls were so neatly fitted she couldn’t even see the joins.
Turning on the shower filled the room with hot steam and the reassuring splats of water droplets peppering the tiles. Stepping into it, she gasped at the pressure. It was like standing in a tropical rainstorm. She just stood there unmoving, letting the water rush over her enjoying the sensation as it beat down on her head.
“That was your PA on the phone. I gave them this address so you can leave from here.” James said as he stepped into the bathroom like they did this kind of thing all the time. “Thought you might want to have some fresh clothes to wear.”
“You really won’t come?” She asked, trying one last time. She forced herself to keep her eyes forward when she realised he was joining her by the sound of his jeans hitting the tiled floor.
Despite their recent intimacy, or perhaps because of it, being this close to his naked body turned her core white-hot. She tried very hard not to react as she felt his naked skin brush up against hers.  His arm reached past and grabbed an unlabelled metal bottle from the small alcove. Then his fingers were in her hair and her nostrils were filled with the scent of an English summer garden.
“Is it okay that I join you in here? Thought it would save some time.”
“Yes, okay, it’s absolutely fine,” she tried to keep her voice as neutral as his but even she could hear the breathiness.
“I told your assistant I can’t, it’s not my scene at all,” he told her conversationally, as if he wasn’t standing butt naked behind her in the shower. He was trying to calm her down, trying to talk about what needed to be talked about. The fact they were taking a shower together didn’t seem to phase him at all. Determinedly, she tried to follow his lead.
“This is not me running away from you. I need you to understand that.” She hummed in pleasure as his fingers massaged deeper into her hair. “I’m sorry if I offended you, offering to pay.”
“I’m still not sure if I find it more funny or offensive,” he began. “I can’t say I’m not tempted to run away with you, but you know as well as I do how much of a distraction I would be. You need to be at your best. I will be fine, I’ll just have to trust you’ll come back. That you're not making me the poor jilted lover once more.” He told her. She wanted to tell him he didn’t need to worry, wanted to say all the things that she had agonised about saying as she lay awake beside him in his bed, but no words could adequately explain how she was feeling. So she turned and reached for him, pushing her fingers up across his stubble studded cheeks into his hair and kissing him soundly. Breaking the kiss he tilted her head back as his lips dragged kisses across her throat. She didn’t need to ask where his mind was right now, she could feel his arousal pressing against her stomach. All too soon her brain caught up with her and soundly put on the brakes. “Not that I don’t enjoy where this is going, but we need to stop.” She took a few quick breaths as his hands continued to soap her breasts. “I don’t have the time and I’m a little tender.”
“You were the one who started things, Evans. I was just helping you wash,” he said innocently, amusement dancing in his eyes. But he did take his hands off her body and even though she had asked him to, she mourned the loss of contact. “In all honesty, I don’t think I have it in me right now to perform at my best anyway.”
“Let’s just put this on pause for now then shall we?” She told him, giving him a gentle kiss, hoping he understood how much he continued to mean to her. Lily dipped her head to rinse the bubbles out of her hair. It felt like silk as she combed her fingers through it.
“What is that shampoo? It’s amazing!”
“It’s a prototype. Remus’ company makes it, the only thing that’s come close to making my hair behave. He’s made it his personal mission to tame it. He gives me a new formula just about every week.” He pointed to the small bathroom cabinet above the sink. “The conditioner’s in there, it's one you have to leave in. I put towels on the hook.” She stepped aside once she was rinsed, letting him have the full force of the shower.
“Does he always make it smell like flowers?”
“Yup.” She expected him to elaborate but when he didn’t she just let it go and stepped out of the shower. She found the small spray bottle in the cabinet simply labelled conditioner and scrunched some into her hair as she watched James wash his. The bubbles slid down his frame in ways that made her wish she could just step back in there with him.
Lily wished she could continue to stare at him but her logical brain was kicking in to tell her all that she still had to do. Moving back to the bedroom, she twisted her hair up out of the way while she looked for anywhere he would store things. There wasn’t even a cupboard in the bedroom so she padded her way through to the living space. She barely remembered it from the night before, and she was stunned at how minimally he lived.
It was a beautiful apartment, the exposed red brick looked amazing with the warm honey-coloured wooden floor. The living space was a good size for London, the kitchen looked brand new with a wooden worktop that matched the floor and clean white cupboards. She spotted the coffee machine, and hunted in the cupboards to see if he had any beans, suppressing her irritation when every one was empty.
The more she looked around his place, the less it felt like he lived here at all. There was a giant modular brown leather sofa taking up the majority of space in the living area, a coffee table that looked like it was made out of granite, and a giant tv on the wall.
“What is this place to you James Potter?” She mused as she looked around. She was tempted to start rummaging in drawers (if there were any) but it felt like possibly a step too far for now.
The intercom buzzed impatiently making her jump guiltily and nearly drop her towel. As she stared at the white box on the wall and wondered how to operate it James came striding out of the bedroom holding a hand towel around his waist, hair still dripping. He lifted the receiver then buzzed to let the person come up. “It’s your assistant.” He explained before vanishing back to the bedroom.
Lily stood looking through the peephole until she saw her assistant's blonde head appear from the stairs.
She opened the door and ushered them in quickly. Taking the bag from them awkwardly with one hand.
Jessie looked around and hummed appreciatively. “This is nice, you could do a lot with this place. When are they moving in?”
“I don’t know,” Lily replied quietly. “I’m going to go change. Can you play nice with James, please? It would be great if you two get on.”
“Well I’ll behave if he will,” Jessie swept an invisible strand of hair out their face before relenting to Lily’s reproachful look. “Alright, alright. When we spoke on the phone they were pleasant so I can be too.”
“Great, I’ll be super quick,” as she made her way back into the bedroom James stepped out wearing that same pair of jeans he seemed incredibly fond of and one of his many black Marauders Pub t-shirts. He put out a hand to stop her as she tried to slip past him.
“I’m going to get out of your hair,” he said quietly. She could tell by the tone he didn’t want to be here when she left, didn’t want to be the one left waving by the door. She understood that in an instant, saw it in his sad eyes, and the hesitant touch he placed on her arm.
“Okay.” With a glance at her assistant she walked him back into the bedroom. “This was not how I wanted this to go,” she said, keeping her voice down once she knew they were alone.
“Saying goodbye brings back bad memories,” he told her shuffling his feet and running a hand through his hair. “I want to believe you're coming back this time.”
“Of course I’m coming back. I’ll call you, every day. But could you do something for me?” She asked, reaching to snake her arms around his neck.
“Can you get yourself a new phone so we can video chat?”
“Yes, Evans I think I can manage that,” he told her, leaning down to kiss her goodbye for the last time.

Relationship: Andy Barber x black plus sized reader
Being an intern for Andy Barber was fun so far. In the year that I’ve worked here I’ve been treated with nothing but respect and to say my boss was eye candy was an understatement. Yet he’s married. Me and Andy have gained an amazing repertoire with each other becoming more so friends that boss and intern. It’s just his coworkers who have yet to respect me and I don’t wanna day anything because they have more seniority than I do and I don’t wanna damage my internship
“Blondie file these for me” Neal drops an entire stack of files on my desk on top of the stack I already have and by the looks of it I’ll be here all night. Neal was the one who hired me but I sort of migrated to working with Andy majority of the time. I cut him a side eye and he smirks staring at me with lingering eyes that don’t reside on my face, more so on my breasts. I wish I could slap that smirk off his face. He’s the only who calls me Blondie because he doesn’t see my intelligence yet if I weren’t smart I wouldn’t be an intern at the most prestigious law incorporation in the world.
“Don’t call me that Neal I’ve told you before” I stand my ground daring him to do it again with my fierce eyes.
“Blondie” he chuckles walking away from me and I groan rubbing my hands over my face.
Tumblr media
I grab my midnight green iPhone 11 Pro Max and tap twice on it revealing the time. 7:32. I’ve been here for almost 10 hours. I stretch my neck rolling it and I stand up stretching allowing my shirt to to rise above my belly button showing my piercing. I let it fall and a door opens. That’s when I see Andy. Face long and tired but nonetheless he still works harder than ever.
“Hey China Doll I didn’t know you were still here” I nod. I’ve been told he calls me China doll because of my big pretty brown eyes. In Andy’s words not my own.
“Yea Neal is making me file all of these”
“Fuck him lets go to a bar” I chuckle at his jokes and vulgarity only to see he’s dead serious
“As much as I wish I could leave he’d fire on and this isn’t even a real job”
“Y/N I wouldn’t let him do that you’re my best girl here and frankly most hard-working” although this was true it’s something about the term ‘my best girl’ that leaves guilty butterflies floating in my stomach. Guilty because he’s married with a child “come on I’ll buy all your rounds” he smiles
“You don’t have to” I set down the files and grab my purse. I save and log out of my computer. Andy leads the way and I follow suit. He pulls the door open letting me go through before turning off the lights and locking up. We head outside to his Audi and my Lexus.
“I’ll follow you”
“Ok I know a bar just down the way” I nod and get in my car watching Andy get in his. I take a deep breath turning the engine. I’m really heading to a bar with my boss’s boss.
Tumblr media
Me and Andy are about 2 shots in and we’re giggling like children “ok take a shot if you’ve ever been blackout drunk” I watch Andy grab his glass as I grab my last and he watches me turn the glass letting the acidic liquid glide down my throat. I grab a lime sucking on it to decrease the taste of the brown liquor.
“You’ve never been blacked out?” He had one more shot that hasn’t been touched meaning I lost the game. Now that I’m really looking at him he looks hot. Maybe that’s the liquor getting to my head but it’s just something about the way he looks at me that makes me feel hot. “No my friends have but I haven’t”
“You wanna know something?” I smile leaning forward unconsciously. He does the same mocking me with a playful smile.
“I didn’t think you were this laid back. I was honestly scared of you” I laugh hiccuping
“I get more laid back than this” he smirks with suggestive eyes that create a pool in my underwear “Can I tell you something?” He asks
“What?”
“I’ve been thinking about you since the day you walked through those doors” and that’s when it began. The room got hot and my cheeks were flushed with sexual blush. That’s when I realized I wanted him right then and there.
“Do you mind if we leave?” I ask
Tumblr media
We bust through the door of my apartment and his hands are kneading my ass all while picking me up to wrap my legs around his hips. His soft lips are clad to mine and his perfect teeth graze at my bottom lip. I open my mouth inviting his tongue. The taste of tequila and mint consume me along with his powerful cologne that makes my knees buckle. Andy tears off my button down revealing the lacy red bra. He holds me up with one hand and the other moves to my hair pulling me back. He picks a broad stripe up my neck ending it with a hard duck making my clit jump.
He gets me to my bedroom laying me down and slithering up to my lips. I flip us around taking control as I kiss his neck. My skirt is hiked up to my waist and I pull it over my head throwing it on the floor. I grab the bottom of his shirt lifting it over his head discarding it with the rest of the clothes.
I feel how hard Andy is under me making me grind on him harder. He slaps the side of my ass. He grabs my throat pulling me down to his lips. He lets go of my lips with a smack and moves his lips to my ear kissing me softly “sit on daddy’s face” I couldn’t be wetter. With confidence I pull off my underwear and place both of my thighs on each side of his head resting my dripping pussy on his lips. Right off the bat Andy sucks my clit like a lollipop and my hands rest on top of his that are on my hips.
My body has a mind of its own as I rock against his hips. I look down at his steel blue eyes glimmering in the dim lamp light looking back at me. He lets out a beautiful moan and I bite my lip exhaling sharply. His tongue moves from my clit to my inside slurping me straight from the source. “Just like that” I moan. My right hand unclasps my bra taking it off and my other hand moves to his head keeping him steady as I ride his face. My moans get louder as he goes back to flicking my clit in a fast motion not hesitating to press his blunt nails into my hips holding me down.
Andy wraps his lips around my clit sucking on me like a leech. My vision becomes hazy, partly because the liquor is still in my system, as he keeps me in the same spot not able to move. My breath becomes more shallow and I try pulling off of his face feeling the pleasure become unbearable “it-it’s too much daddy it’s too much” I moan in a rushed tone He continues his assault until I’m screaming his name and cumming in his mouth. I hear his vulgar smacks and moans from under me making my body rock that much harder. Andy stops moving completely letting me ride out my orgasm on his face holding direct eye contact. This man is the devil.
Andy finally lets me go and he unlatches from me with a smack. I come off of his face watching his beard glisten and a smile on his face. “Fuck me please” I lean down kissing him tasting myself on his lips and tongue. My hand glides over his stomach grabbing his dick but he quickly grabs my hand flipping us around and pinning me to the bed. “Are you ready for it?”
“Yes daddy” Andy pulls down his boxers and he wasn’t lacking in neither width or length (I know y’all saw that Chris Evans leak😏). My jaw drops at his size and he chuckles “I haven’t seen that in a long time” he grabs a condom rolling it on getting prepared.
He starts with the head stretching me out a little. Now here goes the hard part. Andy keeps inching in me as I breathe through the pressure of my walls expanding accepting him gracefully. Once my clit is rubbing against his pelvis he’s fully inside of me, Andy starts off with small strokes along with peppering kisses along my face and jawline. “Faster daddy. Harder” he chuckles at my requests pulling out completely leaving me empty. Before I can demur he plunges back into me leaving my mouth wide open. Andy is rhythmic making sure I feel each and every inch when he reenters me with such passion. “Fuck you’re so tight. I gotta stretch that pretty little pussy out”
“Please stretch it out daddy fuck” my nails glide down his back which I know will leave marks. Andy’s hips ripple into mine with such force that drives my eyes to the back of my head. My jaw drops and Andy comes down kissing me with such passion if I were standing I’d be dizzy by now. He bites my lip still drilling me, my breathing is ragged and my moans are so loud my voice is getting hoarse “such a good little slut for me aren’t you princess”
“Yes yes yes” as he continues thrusting leading us both to the edge that wallowing coup de Grace is close to its mark. Andy wraps his hand around my throat squeezing to make me dizzy but I still have limited air. I bite my lip feeling his necklace hit the bottom of my chin. “Look at me when I make you cum” it’s damn near impossible but I manage to watch him. I grab the sheets and my body rocks as he pounds me through my soul shattering orgasm. Andy’s eyes close and he leans down placing his head in my neck never losing rhythm. “Fuck” he grabs the back of my neck pressing our foreheads together as he fills me with his seed mewling out. He starts slowing down once he’s bottoming himself out and comes to a stop leaving me sore but still very happy. Andy pulls out rubbing my clit making me jolt with how sensitive I am. He throws away the condom and lays next to me while I throw my arm across his chest. He cuddles me closer pushing me into a deep well needed sleep.
Tumblr media
I feel the sun poking through my curtains and a raging headache that’s making me dizzy. I notice I’m extra warm and I feel an arm around my waist and something poking me in my butt. I look back seeing Andy asleep and I smile then my smile fades and turns into a horrible frown. I tap Andy’s shoulder and he stirs in his sleep before opening his eyes. His phone vibrates in his jeans and he gets up grabbing it. His face goes blank and he answers the call “hey Laurie”
My jaw drops and I drop my head in my hands. I feel nauseous. Andy ends the conversation and looks at me “did we have sex last night?”
It’s a silly question I can feel the soreness between my legs. I stand up out of bed nearly falling over again from how weak my legs are.
“We did and that was Lauie” he says running his hands over his face. I start panicking and sit back on the bed. Obviously it’s clear he sees it. Andy comes over towering over me. He gets down on one knee lifting my leg over his shoulder kissing it softly “Andy you’re wife just called and I know she’s worried sick- oh fuck” his plump lips wrap around my clit “Andy we can’t- oh god” my back arches and I grab his head with the intent to move him away but my hands bring him closer as my breathing picks up. My hips roll along his face and I bite my lip as he continues sucking on my clit like he didn’t just assault it last night. “Andy we’re gonna be late for work Jesus”
“Mhmm” he hums going deeper and using 2 fingers to work at my entrance. He curls those 2 fingers sucking on my clit and hitting my g-spot like no tomorrow until I’m left leaking on his tongue and crying out his name. My legs shake trying to close his head in yet I want him away as the overbearing pleasure dizzies me.
“That’s my girl” he moans cleaning me completely. Andy stands up and I lay back just staring at the ceiling “come on now we’re almost late” he winks
“Wait I need to get my car”
“Ok I’ll wait for you to get ready” and that’s just what he does. Occasionally his wife would call and he’d talk to Jacob before school but other than that he was right there.
I’m all ready and dressed in a tight dress and he grabs his jacket that he had on last night. We get in Andy’s car and he drives off to the bar around the corner. Just watching him drive made me want a round 2 but he had a family to go home to and though I’ve already done so I don’t wanna interrupt that. Yet I already have. The guilt feeling consumes me again making me nauseous and overly dizzy.
“Andy pull over” I wretch and he obliges. I open the door vomiting whatever little food I had the night before. I cough letting all of my contents out while feeling Andy’s large hand rubbing my back. Once I’m finished he pulls over to my car and hands me some water. I gargle it walking to the back of the car spitting it out. I go in my purse and grab a piece of gum “I’ll let you know when I make it to the office” I make it to my car and he opens the door for me.
“Ok and Y/N” I look up at his dazzling blue eyes that are softened on me “I don’t want you to beat yourself up over this. I don’t regret it”
I nod and close my door pulling off.

The Heart Wants What it Wants - Chris Evans x reader pt.3
Tumblr media
a/n- Hey lovely people! hope you’re all doing great! I know i’ve said this is the last chapter, but I was thinking about making an epilouge of sorts from Chris’ perspective... anyone interested? if yes please tell me! italics are for thoughts/memories and bold italics is text messeges. Also you know the drill... summary is from pinterest. Hope you enjoy <3
part 2
Summary: You either say how you feel and fuck it up or say nothing and let it fuck you up instead.
Warnings: age gap, a little angst
It's been 10 months since the last time you saw him, at that bar. You tried to give up the habit of counting, but it was useless. You went on a couple dates, but it was a waste of time. You had almost resigned to your fate of being an old maid, married to your job.
Now, you were sitting in Scarlett's kitchen, munching on some chocolate chip cookies you'd just baked together. You never told Scarlett about Chris, about your… thing. How could you? You had no idea what would she say, how she would react. Would she tell you it's a good thing you weren't together? Would she tell you to move on? Or would she tell you something else, more positive? You didn’t know, and the thought was giving you a headache.
"Spill it," Scarlett said, sitting down next to you after she finished putting all the dishes in the sink. She picked up a cookie and took a bite, making an appreciative face. "You've been zoned out all day. What's going on?"
"Nothing," you finished your cookie and picked up another. You shrugged at Scarlett's inquisitive look.
"Alright, you leave me no choice." She got up, taking the plate of fresh cookies with her and backing away before you realized what she was doing. "No more cookies for you until you tell me what's wrong." She put the plate down on the counter and stood in front of it, her hands crossed on her chest.
"Noooo," you whined. You could just get up, but you were a little tired from hiding such a big portion of your thoughts from Scarlett. She was pretty much your mentor in everything else, what's the harm in telling her? It’s just one person who you trust and love.
"C'mon, keeping things in is never the answer," Scarlett urged you.
You had been distant all day. It was just one of these days you were deep in your head about love and life and whatnot. Scarlett deserved an explanation – it was one of the rare days you could spend together, given your often conflicting schedules. And honestly, you just wanted a hug, someone to comfort you and tell you it's all gonna be okay. You hoped Scarlett would do that and not something else, but you trusted her.
You sighed deeply. "I'm sorry for being distant," you started. "It's just… there's this guy. And well, he's wonderful really. I met him like two years ago." Scarlett was smart, so you needed to… compartmentalize, twist the facts a little. You wanted to share your own struggle with her, not Chris', especially because she knew him. "We hit it off, but it ended up not working out. And I just can't seem to leave him behind. I met him again some time ago, that's why I was distracted."
"Who was it? I don't remember you telling me about anyone special two years ago," Scarlett furrowed her brow.
"You don't know everything about me," you said in a mock-mysterious tone, smirking.
"So, what's stopping you from leaving him behind?"
"Well, I can't stop thinking about the what ifs. What if we would've been great together? What if he was the love of my life and I let him go?" you said, taking a sip of water.
"The love of your life are big words to describe someone. He must've had a pretty big-" she started smiling and you swatted her across the arm, nearly choking on your drink. If she knew who she was talking about, she DEFINITELY would've not said that.
"I was gonna say heart!" she sent you an innocent look and you gave her a "cut the bullshit" one. "Anyways," she continued, unbothered, "If you feel like that, why not just go back to him? Ask him for a second chance."
"It's not that easy," you smiled bitterly. "There was a pretty good reason why it didn't work."
She nodded her head at you, expecting you to elaborate. "Let's just say there were things we weren't willing to give up on for the sake of our relationship."
"Alright, go ahead, be mysterious," she smiled fondly. You knew that was her 'you're so young and innocent' smile, but you appreciated that she didn't voice the thought out loud and treated you overall seriously. "Look, maybe things changed. I still think you should ask him."
"Thanks," you got up and gave her a hug, reaching behind her for the plate of cookies and grabbing another one. She laughed when you released her to take a bite.
"What do you wanna watch?" she asked, bringing the plate with her as you both went to the living room, sitting down on the couch.
"Something really really sappy."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Another night in the public eye, you thought bitterly as you eyed the roomful of strangers with fancy dresses and suits. Some of them actors and actresses, directors, creatives, and some of them there for media coverage. Ever since that night at the bar a year ago, you couldn't help but look at the industry with bitter criticism for taking your happiness away from you, in a sense.
You turned back to the conversation with a forced smile on your face.
"Oh no, I really don't think I'm gonna get it," Scarlett laughed and tucked her hair behind her ear gently. She was up for a 'best actress in a drama movie' tonight, and everyone but her was convinced she was going to win. Your eyes roamed around the room again, unable to stay interested in the polite small-talk. You took in the elegant décor of the room that was filling with familiar faces by the minute. Everyone was all smiles and polite interest; "oh, I heard you did that movie with…", "That's a beautiful dress!", "Who are you here with?" and similar questions were spoken abundantly throughout the room.
Your eyes stopped on the back of a suit jacket. At first you were just staring into space, not really focused on what you were seeing but rather listening to different conversations around you. But then the man wearing the suit moved a little, still talking to someone, but that shook you from your blank stare. You registered the black suit jacket filled up nicely with broad shoulders, moving your gaze to his neck and the back of his head, soft brown hair looking appealing to touch. He turned around, his profile now within your sight, and you felt your breath get caught in your throat. How didn't you recognize him?
You couldn’t resist – your gaze traveling over his features; his long lashes, bright eyes, flushed cheeks, beautiful lips, broad shoulders covered in a black tailored suit-jacket.
Shit, what am I doing? You averted your gaze quickly before he would notice you staring. He was talking to someone and he had a beautiful girl on his arm. Knowing Chris' track record, she could've easily been just a friend, but rationality has never been known to be a worthy adversary to jealousy. You took a sharp breath. The feeling panged through you, making your muscles clench, your body tensing up. You forcefully pushed him out of your mind, willing yourself to relax and be sensible. He's not yours, he never will be, whispered a thousand voices in your head. Shut up, you thought back.
You and Scarlett took your seats in one of the first rows. Chris was sitting somewhere behind you, and you could've sworn you felt his gaze travel across your neck, shoulders, back, but maybe that was just wishful thinking. Either way, his presence felt awfully prominent to you.
The night went by in a blur, award after award being handed out to people, some genuinely grateful and excited, some looking too smug for the occasion in your opinion. You tried to pay attention, but simply couldn't. Maybe you were tired, maybe the ceremony was just boring, but you just didn't have the willpower to stop your thoughts from wandering all over the place. Is Chris looking at me? Should I try to look back at him? Are we gonna talk tonight? What good would that do? Ok, focus on the ceremony… But maybe we still stand a chance? If we talk tonight, should I tell him I've changed my mind? That we should go for this no matter what? Maybe things changed, you remembered yours and Scarlett's conversation from a couple of months ago. No, that's just the boring ceremony talking, this industry is your life, you're gonna regret this. Or maybe you're not, maybe loving him will be better than anything else… Oh you've loved him this long and nothing's changed! Ugh, I mean being in a relationship! Maybe this time-
"And now, presenting the award for best actress in a drama movie…"
The conversation you were having with yourself in your head got cut off by the announcement for Scarlett's category. You abandoned your thoughts immediately, grabbing Scarlett's hand and squeezing it in encouragement. She smiled back at you, shaking her head. You raised her eyebrows at her, nodding playfully. You both giggled and she turned her head as the camera showing the nominees focused on her, waving a little.
"And this year's best actress in a drama movie is… Scarlett Johansson!" The crowd applauded and the camera focused on Scarlett once more, her face drawn into a huge shocked smile. She covers her mouth with her hands excitedly before hurriedly getting up, her dress swaying around her in elegant drips of fabric as she makes her way to receive her well-deserved award.
"Thank you!" Scarlett smiles from her place up on the stage, the award clutched tightly in her hands as she speaks into the microphone. "I honestly never believed I would win tonight, I had some amazing competition," she gestures at the other nominees and the crowd applauds once more. "I'd like to say a huge thank you to everyone who worked on this movie with me, you've made it such an incredible experience, and thank you to my family and my friends," you blew a kiss at her from your seat as the camera moved to show you, "for loving me and inspiring me. Have a wonderful night everyone!" she grinned once more and went behind the curtain to the side of the stage.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Later that night you were once again in an after party, but this time you dragged Scarlett along - "You won an award! You've gotta celebrate somehow!"
You were sitting in a relatively secluded table with Scarlett, drinking as people came to congratulate her on her win. She kept smiling at every single one of them, thanking them like they were the only ones who said it, and you really didn't know from where she has this amount of energy. If this would have been you instead of Scarlett, you probably would have snapped at some of them already. Hell, you were close to doing it anyway. Your as-of-late bitter attitude towards the film industry plus the fact you couldn't have a conversation alone with your friend for more than one minute before getting interrupted made you grumpy. You sulked as you took another sip of your drink.
In the sea of people coming to congratulate Scarlett, there was one you actually didn't mind seeing that much. Your head snapped up when you recognized his deep voice, "You deserve it, you really do," you tuned into the conversation.
"Thanks Chris," Scarlett smiled fondly at her former costar and he returned it. "This is-" she started to introduce you before she realized, "Oh wait, you've met before, right? At that party like five or six years ago?"
You didn't know if it was the light playing tricks on you but it seemed like Chris' cheeks flushed a little. "Yeah, I remember," he smiled and extended his hand, "great to re-meet you," he said as you shook his hand. "Yeah, you too," you smiled at him, thanking god you were both good actors and sober enough for this.
"God, you two looked so engrossed in conversation that I left earlier that night," Scarlett reminisced, "You looked like you'd take a while and I didn’t wanna spoil your fun," she chuckled.
"Yeah, it was a great conversation," he smiled politely.
Chris laughing at something you said, stroking his beard as he listened to you, talking about his family, talking about sports passionately. Chris' hands on your hips, yours against his chest, his mouth on your body, your tongues battling for dominance as you push his shirt up over his head. The memories of that night hit you like a truck. It took all your willpower to push them aside and send him a tight smile back.
"See you around," he nodded at the both of you and turned away. He started walking and you and Scarlett used the few seconds to talk between you. From the corner of your eye, you saw Chris turn back to sneak a look at you. You gulped as you were listening to Scarlett talking about whatever it was. Your heart fluttered in your chest because he turned back. You remembered the night at the bar, how he didn't turn back, how he left you feeling the worst you've felt in a long time. You didn't know if it was for the better or not, but Scarlett was right; something did change.
After a few minutes you excused yourself from the table and headed to the balcony for some fresh air. The party was at a fancy penthouse, so you allowed yourself to enjoy the privilege of the cool night air as you processed your thoughts. You gripped the railing with your hands as you thought it all over - you and Chris, the advice Scarlett gave you, that night at the bar. You felt like you were drowning; engulfed by silence but certainly not peaceful, trying to see the clear picture, your next move.
The silence was broken by the sound of footsteps behind you. You didn't move, thinking it was just someone who came out here to smoke and won't bother you. But they were getting closer, sand a pair of strong, familiar arms leaned on the railing next to you.
"Gonna throw me down?" you chuckled bitterly while you raised your eyes to meet his cool blue ones.
"Now why would I do that?" he smiled.
Flashes of sentences you said that day entered your mind, taking on a new meaning from his perspective - "I can't give up on my dream job, I should have given up on us… I don't want you, go away…"
"I don’t know, I figured the way things ended when we last saw each other you wouldn't be the biggest fan of me."
"It's okay. Not a wonderful apology but I'll take it."
You huffed, "I wasn't apologizing, just saying facts." You raised your eyebrow. "But I am really sorry," you sighed, "for everything."
"As I said, it's okay," he smiled.
You both remained quite for a while, standing next to each other looking at the lights below and the stars above, each lost in your own thoughts. After a few minutes you shivered slightly, the cold getting to you and making the exposed skin on your arms fill with goosebumps. You let out a shaky breath, wrapping your hands around yourself. Chris' gaze turned to you, hurriedly taking of his suit jacket and wrapping it around you.
"No, Chris it’s fine, really, you'll get cold without it," you tried to resist, but he wouldn't have it. His hands kept the jacket tight around you, and you could feel the warmth of his palms even through the material. The jacket was warm and smelled like Chris, but you knew it was nothing but a pale imitation.
Chris' look was stern. "Fine," you surrendered, adjusting the jacket around your shoulders.
"So, how've you been?" you asked after a couple of seconds.
"In general? Good I guess. In regards to you? Broody."
You let out a chuckle. "I appreciate the honesty. If it makes you feel any better, I haven't exactly been a ray of sunshine either."
"Damn. The universe really did a number on us didn't it?" Chris smiled sadly, looking up at the moon.
"You believe in the power of the universe? Like, the power it has over us?" You ignored half of his statement.
"Well, I think however you look at it the universe has some form of power over humanity. We're like a pebble in its shoe." He raised his eyebrows at you.
"That annoying, huh? I feel like you may be overestimating the human race here."
He let out a small laugh. "Yeah, maybe. But no matter if you're looking at it from a religious, superstitious or scientific standpoint, the universe is factually enormous, way bigger than us, therefore has more effect on, well, everything."
"Yeah, I get your point. I was asking more about the preordained and stuff," you remarked.
"I don't really know where I stand on in that matter," Chris answered. A small silence followed before you answered.
"Well, to offer my two cents on it – we get dealt certain cards, whether it be by chance, God, our star chart or the freaking, I don't know, Flying Spaghetti Monster," you both chuckled, "so there are things that are beyond our understanding and our control. But we have choices, plenty of them."
"Sometimes it doesn’t feel like that," Chris sighed.
"Not all the choices are good ones."
You both got lost in your thoughts once more, the silence settling between you. You thought about how you couldn't make him have that choice. What if it doesn't work out and you just lost a lot of support for nothing? What if he doesn’t want you anymore? Maybe that's what changed.
"I love that about us," Chris sarcastically broke the silence. You sent him a quizzical look and he continued. "How we can talk about the meaning of the universe before we'd talk about what's actually bothering us."
"Well, it is a very interesting conversation," you smiled sadly.
He sighed, his eyes closing, making his eyelashes flutter across his cheeks. "I can't stop thinking about it. Us." He looked up at you, making your breath hitch. "I just… whatever this is, it's gonna hunt me for the rest of my life if I don’t explore it the furthest I can."
"Curiosity killed the cat," you replied.
"But satisfaction brought it back," Chris quipped back. "Don't you feel the same way I do? Because if you don't, I'll leave it. We can never talk again if that's what you want. But I don't think you do."
"You don't know what I want," you replied softly, feeling the cracks in your heart pry open again.
"You’re right, I don't. But I know what I want. I want to take you out to dinner. I want to kiss you again, without feeling like I'm hurting you. I want to know you, no hesitation or forced boundaries. I haven’t been able to stop thinking about you. For years I've convinced myself it's wrong, that we would never work out. But it doesn't work out with anyone else either. If you'll have me, I don’t care what happens. I'm willing to take that risk. I'm willing to regret you for the rest of my life." His eyes bore into yours and your breath caught at the intensity of the moment, the raw emotion in his voice sending shivers down your spine.
"Chris, I…" you swallowed and licked your lips. "I couldn't stop thinking about you, about us, for a really long time now. And I don't think I would ever forgive myself if I continued to push you away." You stepped into his space, face moving up to meet his gaze. "I want this. Maybe even more than anything I've ever wanted. So screw them," you gestured to the roomful of people behind the balcony door, "because I'm tired of holding back."
"Then don't," Chris whispered softly. Your hands went up to cup his face as you brought your lips together. At first it was tentative, a touch of warm lips in the cold night air. Then his tongue was entering your mouth, kissing you like your mouth was air and he was a man drowning, the desperation evident in the way he was devouring you. He pulled you against him, his warmth enveloping you as one hand went to the small of your back and the other to cup the back of your head. You wrapped your hands around his neck, kissing him with passion only he could awaken. Your heart fluttered in your chest, you felt free.
You pulled away to breath, looking into his eyes. And it finally clicked; the answer you were looking for right there in front of you. Being in Chris' arms again felt like coming home. Your heart finally felt healed. How could you have thought you were able to let this man go? The pure truth ringed in your brain – I love him. And you couldn't say it yet, because it would sound ridiculous. But something in you knew. Instead you opted for something more casual.
"Let's get outta here," you said and pecked his lips.
"Oh no, we're doing this right." He reached into the inner pocket of his jacket, which was still on you, and took out his phone. "Here, gimmie your number," he murmured against your cheek and pulled away, extending his phone to you. You typed in your number, an amused smile on your face, and returned the phone to him.
"So?" you asked.
"So, we get back in, which by the way, it's a miracle no one has seen us yet."
You giggled at that, "Guess the universe is on our side after all?"
"Maybe," Chris smiled. "Anyway, we get back inside, and tomorrow I'm gonna call you and then take you on an actual date. How does that sound?"
"Sounds perfect," you grinned and pecked his cheek. "Here, take your jacket back," you handed it to him. He took it back and put it on, taking your hand and squeezing it once before going back inside. You stayed outside for a couple of seconds, making sure you look respectable before following him back inside.
Later that night you were already home, drying off your hair from your shower when you heard your phone buzz with a text. It was an unknown number.
"See you tomorrow, goodnight
-CE"
You smiled and saved his number before texting him goodnight back.
That night you fell asleep with a smile on your face. No matter what happens next, you'll have him by your side, and that's more than enough.
