big big BIG thank you to the lovely author herself for sending me an ARC of this baby for an honest review.
this has to be my new favorite book from rachel. y’all, i just CANNOT. she has been one of my favorite romance writers since i discovered her, i’ve read almost all of her books and plan to own them all in the future, and this one just took the cake for me. it’s about to live in my mind rent free in the coming weeks.
i absolutely adored and related to emelia so much. sometimes it felt like i was reading my own inner thoughts which is the absolute best feeling to stumble upon in a book. the way she kept so much of herself locked away and found it hard to trust— i understood in the depths of my heart. i tend to be the same way, having a hard time trusting people but the right person stumbles along and things just make sense and it make take a little time to get there, but you do. goodness. reading it was so satisfying and a good bit of positive self reflection for me.
jonathan— Y’ALL. HELLO? god, i adored this man. everything about his razor sharp exterior combined with how he treats emelia at the end just made my heart swoon so hard. how he knew what she wanted without having to ask but still looked for all signs of consent before taking. i’m such a sucker for those assholes that are only soft for their love and he is such an excellent example of that if you ask me.
the sexual tension and build up is just… *chefs kiss.* rachel absolutely nailed it (heh) and knocked it out of the park with this one. so many times i put the book down and out loud said “oh my god i need them to fuck already.” because the build was just TOO GOOD. more than once my boyfriend jokingly asked if i needed a minute (and i did. i really did.) their first ✨encounter✨ is so steamy and sexy i could have died. i would have liked to have a bit more spice but the build makes up for it tbh.
i already know i’ll be rereading this baby in the future to get my fix. all of the tropes and the lil kinks were absolutely perfect and i am so obsessed with this one.
thank you for yet another absolutely fantastic read, rachel!

A Nonchalant Melodrama #School life
Bonjour Mates!!!
You know..... these days I was wondering how each one us fail to notice that our life is just like an open book! and the only thing is that this book has blank pages and we fill these pages with different colors of our experiences everyday until we die. Someday we might fill it with our grey experiences while somedays we fill in our experiences that in may emit vibes as bright as the lemon yellow color.....^_^
But you might be thinking well what is it with me that I am getting so philosophical..... but you know this weird realization struck me on that one morning, when I was standing by the window of my room, early in the morning I saw a small toddler in the school uniform rushing to climb up in her bus to return back to her school after this Covid created school hiatus! On seeing her smile and that rush of excitement on her face, for me it was an instant meltdown!!!♡
But you might be wondering how is this incident related to this realization..... well you know each one of us spends... lets say at least 13 years of life at school and this so called childhood phase of school life is  one such phase that what we as a teenager treasure the most..... Our friends, teachers, the boring PE periods, the gossips, the proms and the proposals of crushes, the no less FIFA like football matches and last but not the least the instantaneous fights among the friends. All these weird but highly satisfying incidents makes our life a better place everyday!
In my past posts.... I used to every time express how my life sucks or how frustrating it is lead a life of competition when each day makes you feel to go more M.I.A ! But some times there are events in our life that makes one feel so... so... so... much gratitude towards Life for being it full of amazingly weird and supportive people whom I call as my FRIENDS!!!!!
*inserts 'friends' opening track*
You know each day we meet so many people but only hand full of them get to be a part of your life as these people presence only is sufficient to make your life ten times better. And the most weird thing that I noticed is that these people find various and most weird situations to make an appearance in our life.
I can give numerous such examples of those amazing people of my life and if I start stating that here, this blog won't finish anytime soon!!
But where is the hurry ???
To begin my anecdote, the first thing that I remember is my toddler years, where me as a 3 year old kid, was ready to abandon parents for school.... for the most lovely and supportive teacher of my whole life Ms. R.S.  You know.... as a kid I used to never finish my tiffin so, to make me eat my tiffin regularly, my mother had to ring the death knell telling I must finish my tiffin or a sound thrashing awaits me at home, So.....to do so I used to gobble up my food and eventually choke! But this teacher being one of the kindest soul..... used to give me extra minutes to finish my food.
As I grew up I made friends and many acquaintance. Among them few were my friends from grade 1 with whom I am still in touch.
The school life has not only helped me overcome my worst fears, but also taught me to live my life to the fullest. Along the years, I made some amazing acquaintances in the form of my teachers and classmates among which I include my teachers like Ms. M.R and Ms. S.O and friends like S.T, A.S, Y.N, A.N, V.I, S.N, A.K, S.L, A.W, P.S, R.U, S.C ( 1st std bestie ), and many others.
While I was in my 2nd grade I remember intimidating A.S. so much that he eventually believed he was not my section (tho he actually was!!). Justifiably speaking the situation was like that as he came to our section as a transfer student after a week of recommencement of new session and I was not knowing about this. So on seeing an unknown student entering our class I felt the urge to stop him from entering the class, also as I was the class rep so needed to actually stop students from other sections to enter. So imagine the situation like this, A.S. being a new student, timid but persistent and me being bossy and intimidating were already arguing. I eventually made him believe that he might be in some wrong school too. Eventually he later came back to my section and was my bench mate for 3 months but he still stayed fearful of me for that whole year. But who knew that this weird incident might be the reason for us to become really good friends till date. [BUT A.S. I AM REALLY SORRY FOR SCARING YOU THAT DAY. But you yourself know how feisty I am (◔◡◔) ]
While reminiscing all my school life, I can't help but mention the mighty and goofy The NAKSHATRAS..... the constellation of the troublemakers of my batch. That group only had 5 members, but each member was the culprit of each and every sin caused in my BATCH !!!!! Never in my life I had seen such brotherhood where if One is the culprit the other four are willingly standing up to say we four were also involved the issue unfazed by the fact that they all might be SUSPENDED.... I also remember making a freaking rap on our PE sir those days with S.T, and then ending it with the SUGA style MIC DROP!!!! (S.T introduced me to the BTS and now I am also a fan of them (❁´◡`❁))
You know, while in my sixth grade I, S.T, and R.U, used to be in school cabinet and so had to leave the class 10 minutes prior to the final bell indicating the days end, But we three used to sneak out to the canteen for some snacks and then later return back to the post for the dispersal duties....
Each incident I experienced in my good ol' days can't be summarized in a single post as each day was a new experience to relate and 13 years of school is a hell of writing you see....(∩_∩)
So all I can say is that I had an amazing childhood with a freakingly (I don't know if this is even a word but matches the vibe so...)amazing school life.....
So Amigos this is all I can actually draw out of the box tagged MEMORIES.....
Meet Y'all next time
 Till then.....
Fighting💜

REVIEWS OF THE WEEK!
Books I’ve read so far in 2023!
Friend me on Goodreads here to follow my more up to date reading journey for the year!
___
52. Nic Blake & the Remarkables: The Manifestor Prophecy by Angie Thomas--⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I read this book as an audiobook from the library, but I also have an ARC from the publisher (full disclosure), which didn't affect my review in any way. I didn't know what to expect when I started this new MGLit title by the incredible author that is Angie Thomas, but I'm happy to say that I really enjoyed it!! Our MC is a young black girl who finds out some hard truths about why her and her father are always moving around. What happens after is a whirlwind of adventure and great dialogue, along with a very cute demon puppy. One of the things that stood out for me is how Thomas, like always, inserted important social commentary into her story. The comparison of her magical fictional world and our very flawed non-magical world will hopefully be a great way for younger readers (and the older ones who pick this up) to truly see the disparity with which certain people in society are treated in comparison to others. If you want a fun adventure full of magic and self-discovery, but also with some important topics being touched on, then I think you might really enjoy this one. I'm excited to see where Thomas takes this story!
___
53. Meet Me Halfway by Lilian T. James--⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Re-read April 2023: I was on a re-reading streak this month, so I picked up another title I loved like hell when I first read it. I have to say that I STILL loved this. I loved how the gruff love interest slowly grew warmer with the MC and how their relationship developed. I don't have much else to say because this is still a favourite! I love this trope so much lol.
___
54. The Score by Elle Kennedy--⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
It has been five hundred years and I have finally finished this book. Despite how long it took me to read this book, I actually really enjoyed it. I loved the sexual tension between the two characters, even when they were denying it. I won't say much about this one because it felt a bit like a fever dream (once I started reading where I had left off before, I couldn't stop), but I absolutely adored how the MMC just completely fell so hard for the FMC, especially with how he reacted when she needed him during an emotional situation. Loved that ending too, since it really sets up the next book (which is a favourite trope of mine). Also, of course, can't forget the spice and how good it was. Gotta love that, too.
___
55. Mayhem by Jamie Shaw--⭐️⭐️
Re-read April 2023: Sigh. I changed the rating for this one because while I've chuckled at my past self about being so over the top in my annoyance with some trashy books, this one was something I was really surprised to see I had loved. The story itself is fun and I can definitely see why I loved that, but holy shitballs, this was a pool of slut shaming. So. Much. Slut. Shaming. Like, I lost count of how many times this MC called another woman a whore, a slut, or a hooker simply for having the audacity of trying to get with her crush, a literal rock star. "This bar smelled like sluts" was a personal favourite. I kept finding myself saying, as I listened to the audiobook, "wow, she is so mean. Why are you calling her that?" I get being jealous but like... come on. Anyway, like I said, I enjoyed the story of her falling for the rock star and hiding her identity from him, but it's definitely not the five star read I gave it years ago.
___
56. The Foxe & the Hound by R.S. Grey--⭐️⭐️⭐️
I finally listened to the audiobook for this after having it on my Kobo account for years. I've been intrigued by this author for a while because one of my friends really enjoyed her work (and binge read it a few years back). While this wasn't the best romance book I've ever read, I can see why there's hype behind R.S. Grey--the writing is fun, quick, flirty, and humorous. I loved the pup in this and how it had such a massive personality and was basically a main character alongside the FMC and the MMC. I also loved that the story did follow through with the idea of him being trained. I did like the characters together--the sexy new guy in a small town and the awkward beautiful girl who doesn't realize how many men actually want her? Sign me up. But a part of why this one wasn't super memorable for me was that even though I enjoyed these two characters, I didn't fully get the spark. It all felt very fast and the drama at the end felt forced. Would I read more books by this author? Definitely. But I will enjoy them simply as light and quick summer reads that won't linger too long in my brain after the fact.
___
57. Coach by Devney Perry--⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Listen, a woman can only see so many people reading this and adding it to their TBRs before caving. Also, hi, I'm a sucker for a single parent romance...that is also lowkey forbidden. Not the biggest fan of second chance romances, but this one was delicious enough with angst that it wiped away that sense of frustration. I really enjoyed this--it was spicy, had a good few stolen kisses, had one hell of an office scene, and had two characters who oozed enough sexual tension to make your toes curl. I can see why so many people are jumping on this bandwagon. Honestly, it's always the football player and never the football coach. This was a nice change of pace. My main complaint is the awkward af prologue. I thought it was too quick and really, really awkward dialogue-wise. That alone could potentially be off-putting because the writing style is stilted and so different from the rest of the book--as if it was an addition during one final edit. There was some good communication in this one and the mother-daughter relationship in this broke my heart. I'm excited to read the next one in this series!

Have you read any of these books? Let me know your thoughts!

Happy reading!

Note
this might sound really dumb but do you have novels about football you could rec? there are 452452 romances out there about hockey but i'm struggling to find anything else lol doesn't help that american football just.... exists, in spite of it all
omg not dumb at all but i had to ask my sister about this because i dont read much sport romances 🫣 idk what type of romances you’re looking but these are ones she recommended The Passing Playbook by Isaac Fitzsimons and Only When It's Us by Chloe Liese. she also said there are two coming out this year she is excited for called Cleat Cute by Meryl Wilsner and I Like Me Better by Robby Weber.
ok i also found this list on goodreads if you havent checked that out yet!

1, 13 & 30 for book asks 🌹🌸🤍
Hii love 😍
Thank you so so much for the questions (you can find the questions here)
It was a lot of fun to answer these questions 💖 Again thank you so much for sending the ask in 💖
1. What are you currently reading?
Uhh. Actually (and please don’t laugh 😅) I’m switching between three books (Though I’ve set my reading challenge on Goodreads for 30 books might have to put in a higher number for books to read this year 😂😅)
Chloe Neil - House Rules (Chicagoland Series)
R.S. Grey - Coldhearted Boss (it’s not as cliché as it sounds it’s actually pretty good)
Ann Dávila Cardinal - Breakup from Hell (though I’ve got to say the synopsis and cover sounded better than the book - I’m 17% into it but I’m not sure if I’m going to like it, I guess we’ll have to see 😅)
13. What books make you happy?
I love books that make me laugh. Just something fun and light. Happy endings too (guess that’s why my characters sound more like rom-com ones but hey I’d take funny and cute over angsty any day 🥰)
I also really love fantasy novels. I’m a huge fan of Nalini Singhs series Psy Changeling - uff that one is so good - if you haven’t given it a try and you like steamy mixed with fantasy? Try them they’re actually really good 😍 (you can check out the synopsis on goodreads or Amazon if you’re curious)
Also those characters who always have something sassy and funny to say? Love it 🥰
30. Favorite book this year?
Hmm. I don’t know if it will change. But I really enjoyed Chloe Neill‘s - Devouring Darkness. It was a lot of fun and I couldn’t stop reading it.
Thank you so so much for your ask 💖(it took me longer to answer it because tumblr kept deleting my answers 😅 So hopefully that won’t happen this time 😂)
Hmm. I don’t know if it will change but I really enjoyed Chloe Neill‘s Devouring Darkness (The Chicagoland Heirs series) - The book really picked up speed and I couldn’t stop reading and was so sad when I was was finished with the book 😱 But thankfully we’ll get one last book in the series.
Also I’m hoping we’ll get to see the third book from Sarah J. Maas crescent city series this year (that one is really good too 😍) It just got interesting at the end of the 2nd book.
Thank you so so much for this ask I loved getting it 💖

Grey waters, vast
as an area of prayer
that one enters. Daily,
over a period of years
I have let the eye rest on them.
Was I waiting for something?
Nothing
but that continuous waving
that is without meaning
occurred.
Ah, but a rare bird is
rare. It is when one is not looking,
at times one is not there
that it comes.
You must wear your eyes out,
as others their knees.
I became the hermit
of the rocks habited with the wind
and the mist. There were days,
so beautiful the emptiness
it might have filled,
its absence
was as its presence; not to be told
any more, so single my mind
after its long fast,
my watching from praying.

Self-care can be defined as a meaningful gift of self-love and appreciation. It is any activity we do to step back and rejuvenate ourselves mentally, physically, and emotionally. There isn't necessarily a strong contradiction between self-care and caring for others. In fact, they can often complement each other. As a matter of fact Self-care enables you to better care for others: when you prioritize your own well-being, you're better equipped to support and care for others. Just like they say on airplanes, you need to secure your own oxygen mask before assisting others. If you're not taking care of yourself, it can be challenging to be fully present and helpful to others. In fact, if someone cares about themselves, he will try not to take risks and not get hurt, therefore at the same time he will be a more thoughtful, wiser, responsible individual and also more attentive to the needs of others. Self-care fosters empathy: engaging in self-care activities can help you develop a greater sense of empathy and understanding towards others' needs. It can give you insights into the importance of mental and emotional well-being, making you more sensitive to the well-being of those around you. Balancing self-care and caring for others: It's essential to strike a balance between self-care and caring for others. While it's important to prioritize your own needs, it's also vital to be mindful of the needs of those around you. This might involve setting boundaries, practicing effective communication, and finding ways to support others without compromising your own well-being. Mutual support: self-care and caring for others can exist in a reciprocal relationship. Just as you support others, they can support you in your self-care efforts. Building strong relationships based on mutual care and support can enhance both your well-being and the well-being of those around you. Ultimately, self-care and caring for others are not mutually exclusive; they can coexist harmoniously and contribute to a more balanced and fulfilling life.
