Man I've written 26 fics for rise, that's insane, anyway here's a master post, sort of? I realized some people either A) may not know how many different fics I've written or B) not realized "oh he wrote that" sooo
One Shots
Don't You Care? – Donnie and Leo centric, post-movie. Donnie isn't always great with feelings, and when he fails to understand Leo's, he tries to find a way to fix it. Doing so forces him to unpack some of his own thoughts on their victory over the kraang as well.
To Bridge a Canyon of your Own Design – Splinter centric, post-movie, a bit of a retrospective on his relationship with his sons, his depression, and him trying to move away from his unhealthy coping mechanisms.
I Didn't Vote for You – Leo's the leader now, and Donnie always finds ways to argue with him about it. Leo wants to find out why Donnie has such a problem with how he's trying to lead the team, but it turns out that isn't the problem. It's simply the fact that Leo's the leader at all.
I'd Give Anything – Donnie-centric. A slightly alternate take on the movie's ending where instead of just firing a drill into the portal, Donnie jumped in, and ends up losing an arm in the process. But he has to kind of piece all of that together as he recovers in the med bay, talking to each of his family members.
Grappling With Things Beyond Your Control – Gift fic for my friend Bat! Donnie-centric, post season 2. Suddenly getting ninpo with no prior training causes Donnie's powers to start to run amok, and on top of that he has to help his family not only find a new home but move into one. It's a lot to balance, maybe too much to balance.
Four Turtles in your Corner (Store) – A silly fic about April being out of supplies for her period, and in desperation sends the boys to go get her some. I'm sure four reptilian mutants have competent knowledge on what humans need for things like this.
Now Lie In It – Big Bang fic! Takes place during season 2. Leo won't sleep, and ends up getting on Donnie's nerves. The softshell's solution to the problem is a simple sleep potion, but when he pours too much into Leo's tea his brother won't wake up. Time to force April and Draxum to go find an antidote while he hides his mistake from the rest of his family. (it sounds angsty but it's comedic, actually)
What Will You Leave Behind – Big Bang fic! Doomed timeline, Raph centric. Raph is the first of his siblings to die during the war. And while he does everything he can to be their ever present pillar as they eventually follow after, he can't help but loathe the fact that the ones still down there are suffering and he can't do anything to help.
My Words Died With You – Gift fic for Bat! Doomed timeline, Donnie centric. Donnie quit speaking when Raphael died, months later he still isn't. His family tries to help him cope with this, even Raphael does from the afterlife, but it may not be enough.
VHHB series
(These are all post-movie)
My Roommate the Troubled Time Traveler – Casey and Draxum centric. Casey Jones Jr. isn't coping too great with being in the present, and trying to live in the lair isn't helping. So Mikey has the GREAT idea to convince Draxum to let Casey be his roommate. The alchemist thinks this is a terrible idea, but he might be able to help the kid far more than he realizes.
Violet Hues and Holly Blue – Donnie centric. 8 months after the kraang invasion and Donnie's been the reigning champ in the Battle Nexus for a while, in his attempts to improve his mystic abilities. But this draws the attention of a business focused wasp named Holly Blue who offers to help sell his tech designs in the Hidden City. Donnie ends up agreeing, having to keep that secret from his family too, but eventually they're going to find out. (This is only a partial summary haha sorry, fic is heckin long)
Missing Pages – Just some VHHB extras, but hey it features Big Mama being herself, Lou Jitsu maiming some people, Donnie dealing with past blood on his hands and uuuuh Leo and Holly becoming friends (what a mood whiplash)
You Are Loved – Two-shot fic about the Caseys (of the Senior and Junior variety). Casey Jr. wants to know why his ninpo sprung up so suddenly, and in his search to find out discovers his family is much closer than he realizes. Meanwhile Cassandra is struggling with her place among the Hamatos, it doesn't help when she finds out they're keeping a pretty big secret from her. Hopefully they can make it up to her.
The Sun and Icarus – Mikey-centric. He's been doing pretty good at developing his mystic abilities lately, but now they're starting to explode, pretty violently. And it turns out if this keeps up the whole ordeal could just kill him. Better find a way to put a cap on it, or something to that effect. (Wow more power overloading fics from ME)
Girls' Night – April centric one shot, also April/Sunita. She's just trying to have a fun night out with the girls, inviting Holly Blue along for the ride, but maybe that was a mistake because in her attempts to playfully tease the wasp, she's suddenly forced to confront her own crush.
And For my Next Trick – Leo-centric one shot. Leo's getting frustrated with his lack of progress on his mystic powers, and with Hueso's advice decides to shift his focus to a different kind of magic, stage magic. With Hueso Jr.'s help, he plans to put on an entire show, which should be fine if some other magician doesn't show up to steal the show.
Look Up Hero in the Dictionary – Raph centric. Raph's feeling a bit too idle in the city lately, with only minor crimes going on, but in his wish for something exciting a strange explosion happens at an apartment building. He attempts to help everyone escape, but a yokai holding the building together stays behind, and on top of that charges Raph with the task to take care of her child. Have fun taking care of a powerful psychic seven-year old, Raph.
What You're Made Of - Casey Jr. centric. Casey is getting frustrated with discovering weird things about his body like skin problems and peanut allergies. Draxum suggests he find out who his other parent is to get an idea of his genetic history, but when he finds out who it is, he's kind of ticked off that his family never told him. (this is a bio dad Raph fic for the record).
Off Colors AU (Separated AU)
Off Colors: Contrasts - Covers season 1. Leonardo's spent most of his life believing he's an only child because his little brother was kidnapped when they were only toddlers. But a rescue mission to the Hidden City with his best friend April results in him finding out he actually has three siblings. And in the span of a couple of weeks he finds out all of them are alive and, unfortunately, working for bad guys. He's going to try everything he can to stop them and convince them to come home, but it may be a fools errand.
Other Chaptered Fics
An Alien Invasion Happened but That's Not Really What This is About - Long ass title. Jason-centric. Hi I wrote a novella sized fic about what happens to this kid during and after the events of the movie. Watch him attempt badly to cope with trauma while also fixing his relationship with his very queer dad who loves him a lot.
Artificial Phoenix – Lou Jitsu died in the arena but then Big Mama said no no no! So Draxum brings him back to life while mutating four turtles so Lou Jitsu said NO NO NO! And he took them and ran. Alternate take on the events of the show, where Splinter is undead and unmutated, and unfortunately does not keep his soul in his body the entire time, leaving his sons grieving and desperate to get him back.
Jasonnie things
Not Part of the Plan – Donnie centric. Despite knowing time travel exists, Donnie is still surprised to find his future self in his lab. But his excitement at the possibilities is swiftly crushed as his future self has an easy time embarrassing him. He hopes he can at least gather some useful information in the process, but he slowly begins to wonder if he even wants answers to all these questions.
You Have to Let Him Go – Donnie centric also sad as hell. I literally just wanted to write about how Donnie's husband hecking dies. Read this if you want to be miserable. (or if you hate Jase I guess ??? alskdjf man got char grilled (I have to make jokes to keep myself from being upset shh))
I'll Put the Knife in Your Hand – Well, now that Donnie heard about his possible future husband, he's determined to at least get to know the guy. Unfortunately his family is far more cautious about this than he seems to be. AKA Four times Donnie's family believes Jase is planning to stab him in the back, and the one time he actually does.
ERR_FILE_NOT_FOUND - Donnie is messing around with his mind machine again, and in the process ends up erasing part of his memory. Specifically the memories about Jase, and Jase is barely handling this well. Good thing Donnie's brothers who totally and absolutely are on good terms with Jase are there to help. Maybe.
Dual Dragons - Collab fic with @there-wolf ! A fic in which our versions of Jason end up encountering each other and even switching universes temporarily, giving them a window into how their life could be different (for better or worse).

more art talk
buds have been asking some questions in comments about separating art from artist so i will answer a few. first i will start with this very good post from a buckaroo who sums up everything i have said VERY VERY WELL. was reading along nodding but then got to end and they seem to think chuck disagrees which is confusing. i do not disagree with any of this it is just very good summary of my post so i will put here for context and to say 'good job bud yes'
Tumblr media
anyway this is great summary of what chucks post was talkin on. knowing everything or nothing about an artist will color your interaction with them (even learning something and then pretending you never heard it will color your interaction whether you like it or not). personally chuck thinks the 'ignoring path' will be less vivid and complex but all ways are VALID. there is no correct what to experience art just personal preference that we all make for our own trot.
now i will get to the questions of a different bud.
Tumblr media
no of course not why would it be incomplete without knowing every member of crew. chuck does not even really understand what this buckaroo is trying to say. your artistic experience is just as colored by how much you know about someone as it is how much you DONT KNOW about someone (i wear a heckin mask chuck is a perfect example). all of these ways are valid and all are part of the artistic experience. so no you do not need to know whole crew to enjoy art what the heck
Tumblr media
no of course not. where are buds getting this idea? if you bought painting from local art fair with this big story behind it about daughter selling to you and all this THAT IS ALL PART OF THE GREAT ART EXPERIENCE. what you have for lunch that day is part of it and the way you got to the swap meet and what the weather was is all part of the art. this story is very vivid and exciting. of course that is not 'leaving the play at intermission' just because you do not know who made the painting. not knowing who made the painting is PART OF THE ART BUD
Tumblr media
of course your experience of art changes if you experience it multiple times. this one seems VERY ovbious so i am extra confused. your experience of a dang movie changed based on where your seats are and whether or not you order a popcorn and chocolate milk, of course it changed second and third and forth time you see it. not sure what is part about doing legwork first means.
Tumblr media
what about it? i am confused. deliberately separating yourself from your work in some way (like wear a dang pink bag over your head and being mysterious WHAT THE HECK) would IN ITSELF still be part of the art. something not being known is just as relevant as something being known and these are all perfectly valid parts of artistic trot
Tumblr media
having a complete picture of context might make experiencing art more complex or vivid, might not, neither is 'more valid'. you do not need to know EVERYTHING about a work of art. in fact you do not need to know ANYTHING to enjoy art. not sure where this is coming from.
Tumblr media
that is true if you learn something bad about an artist and then ignore it you are STILL altering your experience of their work, which means you are STILL not actually separating art from artist because to IGNORE something is an active choice.
seems like buds are hung up on this line from chucks previous post:
'separating artist from art is like walking out of a play during intermission youre missing half the show bud, for better or worse. gotta accept theres a whole second half and grapple with that because its all one big performance'
buckaroos seem to think this is SCOLDING those who walk out but that is not what i am saying. i am not saying 'shame on you for walking out' i am saying YOU LITERALLY CANT STOP THE EXPERIENCE IT IS IMPOSSIBLE. because walking out does not end the experience it just dulls your perception of whats happening in the theater. intermission walkout means you just have a new and different experience where youre witnessing the show from the lobby or across the street (which is to say having artistic experience of NOT witnessing the show). and personally chuck thinks sticking around and really wrestling with these ideas brings vivid results (despite all experiences being 'valid' in technical way. there is no 'correct' way to ART AROUND this is just chucks personal choice)
anyway those are some comments i thought were interesting. many of them are confusing to chuck but wanted to answer all for way of clarity of buds and just to DIG A LITTLE DEEPER. thank you to buckaroos who took time to write all this you are proving love and i appreciate your input very much EVEN QUESTIONS I DO NOT UNDERSTAND ARE VERY GOOD AND THOUGHTFUL so thank you buckaroos. LOVE IS REAL

Recently finished my binge of Jujutsu Kiasen - it's great btw - though there's one tiny thing that annoyed me after watching the movie:
(This is spoilers without context btw, so trying to limit me words, lol)
Tldr - in my personal opinion, Suguru Geto is much more charismatic and likeable in the main series than the prequel movie. And when one of the "wtf why is this here" plot twist, that comes up near the end of season 2, I kinda got the head cannon that past version of Suguru only gotten better at what he does is because of that wtf plot twist... and that just makes me feel sad, lol
Anyway, anime gud, should watch but also support the animators that made it, it's heckin cool

ok because i HAVE to address this, let’s talk about bruno and romance
also known as “bruno didn’t cope ever”
Tumblr media
for starters, this all sorta starts with vanni borelli and his “yusei fanboy” vibe, because sure, the ark cradle wasn’t a thing that made yusei a hero in the original horrible future, but the dark signer thing stuck with people, and signers still existed- so vanni already had this idea of “someone who would be really ideal as a person” in at least friendship- he would’ve loved to be able to meet yusei fudo, because who doesn’t want to meet their heroes?
fast forward to vanni in his early teen years, he decides with his friends that they’re going to do riding duels and evenutally compete in the wrgp, and that shit’s AWESOME in his head, so he, ruben, and mimi build a d-wheel, and yes, they had a very similar start to team taiyo, they only had one d wheel between the 3 of them, and they were just ... trying, maybe a little too hard at that.
and a few years later, vanni meets rory lamont. she’s super into mechanics, just like he is! and they hit it off immediately, like good god. really, it’s a hallmark movie love story which??? bless them for it. anyway, in like no time at all, vanni is in fact engaged. rory becomes team delta’s super mechanic and thanks to the fact that she also turned out to be the heiress to lamont motor co, team delta got three (3) fancy d-wheels.
and things were great, until the machine emperor onslaught, and the tldr of that is rory heckin died but not before she told vanni to get on delta eagle and drive as fast as he could and get to safety, and really the parallels to yusei screaming for bruno and only having one item to remember him by is ... uh. wild, huh. vanni wears rory’s locket- to the day he died ( and even when he was revived, Z-ONE made sure he had it, because Z-ONE knew how much it meant to him )
smashcut, vanni meets yusei fudo, rather, he meets Z-ONE as yusei, and he ABSOLUTELY REBOUNDS. because he sees his idol in this man, and he’s so crushed by losing his first love, and he doesn’t know what else to do. it’s not healthy in that way, but he still did genuinely love Z-ONE, despite how things started. another smashcut, elian van asch joins the party, taking the name paradox, the man turns out to be a signer, and his first signer dragon was stardust. you can guess where this is going, right? shoutout to antinomy for projecting his idol ( yusei ) onto paradox, who HATED THAT with such a passion, because paradox was so jaded about the crimson dragon doing absolutely jack shit in the apocalypse. still, antinomy won him over, and the iliaster polycule became a thing.
aporia and antinomy had the healthiest relationship between the iliaster crew- on antinomy’s side, at least. he admired aporia for surviving, not because of aporia having anything to link to yusei or to rory. aporia never knew how deep antinomy’s despair was, and really, that was for the best, considering aporia was truly a heartbreak away from dying.
and then, antinomy dies. he tells Z-ONE to revive his soul and says he believes Z-ONE will save the future. and Z-ONE revives him, and then sends him to the past.
antinomy meets the real yusei. he’s supposed to teach yusei accel synchro so the ark cradle will descend. he’s doing it for Z-ONE, for the future, so that maybe in the future he and rory will be happy and NONE OF THIS will have to happen in the first place, because it’s unfair to yusei. he’ll inevitably hurt yusei, and he knows this. he always knew.
placido, who doesn’t know who antinomy is ( since aporia never knew vanni in his youth ), runs antinomy off the road.
bruno washes up on shore. the only item he has on his person that would have any significance to who he was before is a weathered locket. the saltwater has ruined the photo inside, but it seems to be a loved one. maybe two people together. he knows it’s important, so he continues to wear it- but he doesn’t know why it means so much to him. he thinks someone out there must be waiting for him.
bruno meets yusei, and yusei is super into mechanics, just like bruno!!! ( just like rory ), and they hit it off!!! yusei is incredible, someone that bruno can look up to, and someone he can relate to- and yusei is not aurora lamont, and he’s not Z-ONE, and he’s not paradox, and he’s not aporia for sure, but he’s so familiar, so he’s easy for bruno to latch onto.
antinomy battles yusei as they ride on a path of light, and he knows why he wears the locket, and he knows why he wants the future to be changed and he knows he’s hurting yusei ( hurting rory, hurting Z-ONE, hurting paradox and aporia and ruben and mimi- because is this what they really wanted him to become? a martyr or murderer? ), he always knew it would happen, and he thinks oh well, love hurts. love has always hurt, and it shouldn’t but it does!
so, tldr, bruno associates romantic love with a deep sense of loss and can’t really function properly but despite this, his love is as genuine as his agony thanks for coming to my tedtalk

Follow up on this post! Tagged by @familyofpaladins thanks!
Three (FRIEND)ships: Only three?? Ah i’ll list off the three i’m currently invested in:
- Gray and Natsu (Fairy Tail) (Disclaimer: Hate the anime/manga, but love these boys LOL)
- Midoriya and Bakugo (Mha)
- Todoroki and Bakugo and Midoriya (Mha)
(Yes i know the last one has three, but they count! BROT3 LADS!)
Last song: Abzu Soundtrack - Then Were Created the Gods in the Midst of Heaven
Last movie: The Hobbit: Battle of the Five Armies
(It’s an excellent movie but i will always ALWAYS despise Tauriel LOL i’m sorry but she wasn’t in the book, does not fit in at all and the love triangle was terrible. I didn’t mind Legolas’ inclusion but i could rant for ages on how his role could have been better without fan ship oc Tauriel in there making things weird.)
Currently watching: Ivor the Engine
(Bless. This. Show.)
Currently reading: Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring
(Man oh MAN! I could rant - for so long - on how Frodo - is so much better - in the book - than the movie. Listen, i really enjoyed the movie but similar to how i felt Tauriel doesn’t fit into the Hobbit story, i also feel Elijah Wood was not a good casting choice for Frodo. I’m sorry but his acting for Frodo was... very poor. Not to mention Frodo is meant to be fifty. FIFTY. Older than Sam, Pippen and Merry and choosing an actor who’s expression barely changes over the course of all three movies and while yes Frodo and Hobbits in general age a bit slower than humans, choosing someone to portray him who at the time looked like he was 12... look i could go on for days on this but i’ve ranted enough already so i’ll leave it here LOL)

The Great Tree Headcanon:
Guys. GUYS. You know this tree?
Tumblr media
Yes, that tree.
I've watched the movie at least seven times now, and I have always wondered why the tree grew to be so heckin’ huge, and I think I may have finally figured it out.
This image should be telling enough:
Tumblr media
The roots are wrapped around the crystal, either protecting it or, what I think, using some of its energy.
As a natural phenomenon, trees will wrap their roots around nitrogen rich sources, like decaying matter or deposits in the soil. This suggests that Aetherium could potentially give off nitrogen. (which also plays into another theory I will post later).
But even if the tree has a rich nitrogen source, it still shouldn’t be that massive, even after 700+ years of growth, so I think there’s another aspect to this: the Laputians may have genetically altered it.
Now this wouldn’t be too much of a stretch, since the Laputians were known for their scientific prowess and advanced technology. Maybe some of the creatures there are also genetically modified or have adapted to living in such a strange environment.
Between the crystal and the number of years the tree has been alive, which either ranges from the city's inception or the First Fall of Laputa, there’s no way that the trunk could possibly be that thick without some success in the field of genetics.
Even the tallest of trees that exist in our world can compare to the one holding Laputa together.
Hyperion, a coastal redwood classified as the tallest tree in the world (380 feet, or 115 meters), is completely dwarfed by this one, both in height and circumference.
Here is Hyperion for reference:
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
If you take a closer look when Pazu and Sheeta are looking around the garden, you can see the robots that have been absorbed by its trunk, as if the people who left Laputa hadn't expected it to grow large enough to swallow the stone memorial and its guardians.
Just look at it!
Tumblr media
That’s not even a quarter of the trunk...
There are many possible reasons why the central tree is as large as it is, but the one I agree with the most is that the energy contained within the main aetherium crystal is feeding the tree.
Anyway, in honor of Castle in the Sky's 35 anniversary, I thought I'd share my nature headcanons about the movie!
(I do have another one about the hurricane as well, if any of you are interested)

T2 was okay and it could have been really good—had some real moments. But it needed more script iterations, and it was too goofy. Goofy is fine in general, but Terminator works best as a sci-fi action-drama-horror mesh. That’s the peak atmosphere. Also just, they gave their new Terminator scary powers to keep him relevant, but there’s just...no way to really make anyone on screen look like a threat to Arnold Schwarzenegger you know? And they never overcame that and it throws off the whole underdog atmosphere. He just. Wasn’t scary. Not when he was trying to kill heckin Arnold the brick house.
I’m not gonna talk about T3 bc I feel like I don’t need to and I think I have a lot of support for that in the fandom, and I’m not gonna talk any Genysis bc no one ever should, and I know I have support there.
Dark Fate was fine, but I felt like they really didn’t have to kill off their Kyle expy like at this point the surprising thing and interesting one would be /not/ to kill him. That role has died in /every/ other film. Like we get it. But plot rehashes are only good if you have some kind of spin. Mostly though I just...would have liked T800 man’s personality in another context but you couldn’t ever sell me on him after watching him gun down a 10 year old in the open. Like what, he found a soul by being...bored? If you want to convince me of fundamental change in a person, you /gotta/ motivate it better. Show me. Don’t tell me and expect me to take your word. And there just wasn’t enough meet in some spots. I wanted more firm lore and a little less action. Like I’m not even a science-heavy leaning sci-fi fan but it still wasn’t enough. I liked it more than most of the others but it just wasn’t quite...meaty enough. Sarah still a queen. But T800 man didn’t sell and that was a real weak spot, and so was expecting us and Sarah to just...like and forgive him bc he had accrued a family. But also like. I enjoyed having a new protag, but feeling like so much, no, /all/ of the work and suffering of everyone in other Terminator films was for nothing bc it’s not even Skynet anymore it’s some other robots?? It kind just...didn’t really work. It makes everything more hollow like it’s not even Terminator anymore there’s no more Terminators. They should have just had it be Skynet but a different rebel leader, or more. Sarah goes on to mentor Dani instead since John is dead, /something/ to make it more the same franchise and not so hollow. Or if it’s gonna be gutted, go all the way and let us feel that, don’t blip it as a plot point once and keep rolling. There’s decades of character attachment for fans; either make that matter, or make it mourned because it’s dead. Don’t skim it and make it cheap. Also on a meta level it was kind of weird how they handled time travel compared to the norm for the franchise but I’m not going into that.
BUT. The Terminator? A cinematic classic. It’s just...such a good film. The characters work is solid the whole movie, and Reese and Sarah are both truly excellent protagonists also given ample time to explore and exhibit that. There’s so much you get in moments that show tiny things about them. The way Sarah handles getting canceled on and goofing with Ginger, her having a pet iguana she loves to cuddle, talking to the statue at work? And she’s smart and normal (I mean normal in a very complimentary way). Kyle is introduced almost immediately running from the cops, but even in the middle of a chase scene, he’s stealing clothes in a mall while evading flashlights, and little things like hopping while he runs to check shoe sizes give you so much right away. He’s clearly out of his depth but he’s smart and methodical and he holes up in a car he hotwires and has a ptsd moment waking up from a dream because of some heavy construction machinery. You don’t have him say much about himself at all but you get him taking a second to be nice to the kids and guard dog on his way back before a T800 attacks. Even though if you’re watching it classic, you have no spoken goal for Reese and all you know is he’s armed and /also/ looking for Sarah, like the man who has killed three people already is, you kind of aren’t very scared of him by the time he’s creepily following her into a night club. That scene is iconic too damn. Anyway. Her reactions to everything are so great. Only film I ever saw where I 100% felt the person on screen was reacting like anyone would to almost being killed and then getting kidnap-saved by some other guy claiming to be from the future like I’d bite him too, but you know, I’d also be pretty happy he saved me and also decide he was crazy and not like, dangerous, and try to keep the cops from killing him. It’s so cute he thinks anyone is going to believe him like hang in there Kyle baby, king. Love as soon as the Terminator hits the police station, he breaks out and goes to find Sarah, and she’s immediately like ‘so fuck this actually’ and looking for him too. The deleted scene in the motel woods. The slow character build. Him falling in love with her because of the picture where she always looked a little sad and he wondered what she was thinking about and you don’t find out till the last scene it’s him she was thinking about in that picture. A family can be two complete trauma disasters making pipe bombs in a motel. The top 5 cinema shots moment where you think they won and they think they won and they’re both injured and stagger to each other and collapse laughing and crying and hugging and it holds for like ten seconds before that fucking thing gets up and you see the rubble in the fire shift and Kyle sees it first. And the hopelessness and despair. Sarah just screaming no in rage because it’s so unfair. The little scaffolding fight?? Kyle doing what he does? Sarah winning with a broken leg? The picture? The heartbreak? A work of art.
Also just. They’re both attractive but like, they are not remotely airbrushed Hollywood pretty. Kyle’s got that big scar on his lip and they’re both sweaty and bloody and dirty and gross the whole film??? God yeah.
Terminator Salvation? Also a classic. You have a film not about the core cast exactly, but it’s very ensemble. You get early days war. And it’s from the very open a solid narrative about second chances and what it means to be human and they really do explore that the whole runtime. Markus dies and comes back more confused than you are in the apocalypse. Baby Reese is absolutely perfect. You get formerly executed for murder Markus somehow adopting like 20 year old Reese and 13 year old kid Star and they’re amazing. Rebellion drama, lore reveals. Reese’s devout faith in the cause and how fast he looks up to Markus and starts learning and Markus is like :[ but then he’s like ... :] because he god assigned two family members now. The tag team fights—how incredibly talented Star is. Guilt trip on a look to dropping cars, she’s super effective. Tbh Markus is just O_O to >:-[ the whole movie as soon as Reese and Star are taken and I feel it. You’ve got a guy who was killed for straying too far from human, come back as a machine, but he doesn’t know it, wondering if he deserves another chance and if he can change, and it’s really neat the way it unfolds. Even after losing so many friends to Terminators that look human, Blair refuses to believe he isn’t a human even if he’s also a machine and risks her life to save him, when they barely know each other. Markus getting like, tortured by the rebels, and still choosing to help them and be who he has decided he wants to be this time, even towards John. Even with better alternatives. And you have Star never having a moment of doubt, or Reese, and him getting to save them both, and them trying to help the other humans in line for extermination before he arrives. The hand hold with Star when his hands just metal. And he decides to die for someone he doesn’t even /like/ and who has personally hurt him a lot of times, because he knows the rebels need him to win. Anyway death row to death row but completely different people in the same body facing that same death differently are amazing if done well (see TWDG I mean ow) and it was a very simple core theme to latch to and very enjoyable executed and it got snubbed by fans when it’s the best sequel Terminator ever had.

Sooo, Mitchells vs the Machines...
Is a frickin God tier movie!!!!
Easily some of the best neurodivegent rep I've seen in a film in a long time. Aaron and his special interest in dinosaurs just made me so heckin happy!!!! And Katie wanting to find her people and feeling like her family doesnt understand her and her own special interests and hyperfixations just... really hit home for me.
Also the animation style was so brilliant too! The setpeice with the giant furby chase was terrifying, but also really brilliantly shot and honestly made me fall in love with the graphics and stuff like that. And the way it visualized Katie's thought and reactions with the little art edit drawing thingies was so NEAT! And is something I also like to visualise to acknowledge emotions and such irl, so it was great to see consistently expressed onscreen, not something she overcomes, something that is part of her and it's really beautiful! 😢
Also... she cannonically got together with Jade. And wore a rainbow badge throughout most of the movie. And openly showed engagement with her crush. In a kids movie. Not just implied, not just a side characters but an openly LGBTQ+ main character who has a girlfriend by the end of the film. I... is this what love feels like?
And the narrative doesnt focus on these 'qwerks' any more than necessary, no it's an apocalypse movie, a statement on modern technology and its REALLY FUNNY. Like, me and my sister were just laughing the entire way through. Wonderful, wonderful stuff.
Yeah, so anyway, this is a brilliant movie and I encourage anyone who's interested to check it out!!!!

Just Throwing In My Two Cents. Wait. Why Did I Throw Them. Give Me My Pennies Back, Sir.
So, Loki!
It’s been a while since people were abuzz about the first Avengers movie. And after re-watching it (still my favorite movie in the MCU), I realized that there were two main unanswered questions.
1. Why did Loki try to take over Earth?
2. Just how possessed was Loki really? And why? (The people behind the movie have confirmed that he was somewhat influenced by the mind stone. But how influenced?? And WHY??)
I’m going to try and answer question #1, and shall attempt to answer question #2 in a later post.
What’s so great about Earth, anyway? Sure, it has mongeese, and the most technologically advanced inhabitants can consume caffeine and live, but it’s not much compared to places like Xandar.
Or is it? Let’s take a closer look at this planet in the context of the Marvel universe.
Tumblr media
First of all, there’s a veritable army of skilled sorcerers. Doctor Strange has only majored in wizardry for two years, and he’s able to wield an infinity stone. This is a big deal. Infinity stones have warped their users at best, and straight up exploded them at worst.
I have a hunch that Asgardian sorcery was learned from earth’s sorcerers, as some of the illusion magic Loki pulls off seems like a less powerful version of the literal reality warping of Doctor Strange. And before you point out the age difference between Asgardians and Terrans, I must note that we have no idea how long the average sorcerer lives. The Ancient One could have been Hecate. We just don’t know.
There’s probably enough relics owned by wizard kind to rival the Collector’s hoard, and we know how important the Hoarding of the Stuff is to Odin (that man’s vault is like my grandmother at a yard sale). So on their own, the sorcerers are enough of a reason to make earth one valuable floating space rock.
Tumblr media
Wakanda, baby! WHAT THE HECKITY HECK WAS IN THAT HECKIN METEORITE? Seriously. Vibranium isn’t shown to exist on any other planets. It’s a completely unique, rare metal that catapulted the country of Wakanda into just as futuristic of a society as Xandar or Asgard!
The idea that Earth is the “technologically impaired baby planet”? Yeah, Wakanda just threw that statement across the room with kinetic energy.  If Wakanda had a tech-off with Asgard, the odds would be hard to pin down. Give Shuri ten years? Wakandan victory, hands down.
The Wakandan culture is about innovation, whereas, due to their longer lifespans, the Asgardian culture is slow to change.
Plus, Odin was LITERALLY A VIOLENT COLONIZER, so I’m pretty sure it wouldn’t be hard to convince the Wakandans to want to fight him.
Tumblr media
Also, humans have a tendency to just kind of...make their own super powers? On Asgard, powers are inherited. Not the god of thunder? Too bad, that’s the end of electric based powers for you! But on Earth, people are like, No godly powers? Time to DRINK THIS FRICKING SERUM I GUESS.
Would Loki know about the Hulk and Tony Stark? Probably, he spied in S.H.I.E.L.D. But even if he didn’t, he definitely knew about the Iced Americano and Noseless McNaziface. The tesseract was a crucial part of the plan, remember? He’d want to know it’s history, who had their flesh burnt off and got teleported to Vormir while using it, basic stuff. So he’d know that humans make their own godhood.
Tumblr media
Finally, even without the strategic advantages of this planet, it’s still the best place a chaos god could hope to set up shop. Why? Because humans are batshit crazy.
Look at Florida Man. Now consider that the main reason we get all those headlines is that Florida doesn’t have the same laws restricting when crimes get printed in the news. Meaning that the same madness might, and likely does, go on in other states.
Look at the fact that they had to ban Kinder Eggs because they thought we’d swallow them. Look at the fact that we then proceeded to eat laundry detergent, so they were probably right.
Heck, take a good look at this lovely hellsite! Feast your eyes, and just try to say that human nature isn’t inherently chaotic.
Loki is the god of lies, mischief, but above all, stories. And that’s exactly what our culture is built from. Whether the literal story of a fandom or the fact that society is just a collection of stories we’ve all decided to accept as the truth, we eat, breath, and dream narrative.
So, with all of these factors in play, Loki should have easily been able to influence the crowds, spin a tale, play the fallen angel. People would have followed him without the need for a single Chitauri.
Worst case scenario, he’d just use illusion magic to easily murder anyone in his way.
The question, now, isn’t why he wanted to take over Earth.
It’s why he didn’t.
And that’s what the next post will be about!

I was wondering what you thought of Ki Adi Mundi both as a Jedi and a general. I have a neutral opinion on him since he wasn’t around much in the movies/show so I wanted to know yours.
I have fairly neutral opinions on him myself.  This got long so here, have a read more.
He’s a good Jedi, from what I can tell in the little that we see.  Not a diplomat, probably: he seems to be extremely direct in what he believes and fairly inflexible.  But he’s dedicated to the Force and to peace (counsels Mace and Yoda at different point), comes across as fairly methodical.  He has a good relationship with other councilors and we at least once saw him trying (in that cringey but huggable old-man-way) to joke around with Anakin.  I can see him being a great boon in financial or legal matters or things of the sort.  (I can also see him being that grandpa who wants you to yeet yourself over here and explain that shouting at cat meme.)
He’s a great peace time monk.
I think he could have been a good General eventually, but I don’t believe he’s one at the start.  And I mean that even beyond my thoughts on whether Jedi should have been Generals at all.
One of the biggest reasons I think so is that inflexibility and that logic.  You want your religious leaders to hold to their beliefs, that’s what makes a religion.  You kind of need your Generals to be willing to adapt.  I once described Mundi as ‘taking probabilities as absolutes’.
Dooku was a Jedi; he’s probably not hiring people to murder Senator Amidala
The sith lost a massive battle a century ago; they’re probably not back
Ahsoka was the last person seen with the deceased; she probably killed them
Qui-Gon Jinn is dead; he’s probably not a force ghost
These are all actually reasonable things to think. Except my read on Mundi is ‘probably = definitely’ to him; in each of the above situations he was very unwilling to even consider alternatives.
These are only a few incidents sure, but we don’t get a whole lot about him in general.  The writers chose to show these particular moments attributed to Mundi, where a lot of the others are to the council and we don’t actually know how he voted in particular.  What struck me in three of these situations was Mundi’s response wasn’t ‘we should investigate’ or ‘is there proof?’  It was ‘that’s improbable, you’re wrong’.  The ONE time he didn’t do that was the force ghost thing, and that was Yoda and I can’t help but wonder if he was thinking it anyway but went along with the meditation charade to appease the old(er) guy.
Considering where Mundi was even assigned, way out in the Outer Rims where the fights were the worst and everything was hella heckin nasty.  You have to be flexible, to survive and to win.
I think he got better, eventually.  I keep reading about Bacara ‘being constantly at odds with him but coming slowly to be friends’ and the Marines ‘eventually developing a grudging respect’.  (After three years of trench warfare together I’d hope something changed!)  But when you start out at odds, specifically when the reasoning is given as ‘Mundi’s Jedi beliefs clashed with Bacara’s aggressive tactics’, that’s a terrible omen for the rest of the deployment.  So I do think Mundi learned, eventually.
But this is why you don’t yoink an abbot and make him your Marine 4 star!  He’s going to spend the whole time learning while everyone’s being shot at.  (And no, you don’t make him your 4 star because he thinks that’s the title he/the other space monks should have Doubleyoo Tee Kark Mundi!?!)
So yeah, um, thanks for coming to my TED talk?

Pop Culture Commentary
Tumblr media
Thank you all for your contributions this week! I’m really proud with the way that people took from a variety of shows, books, movies and video games. Fun contests like this are interesting because I gotta let my guard down and not take things so seriously.
With that in mind, here we go!
Tumblr media
@ace-hobo — Rouse the Oathbreakers
Great rare tribal card. I like how it’s fairly low-cost and is a flavor win plus a really fun niche tribal build-around. When you’re reanimating, use “return,” see Angel of Glory’s Rise. Additionally, if you’re using MSE, shift+enter will allow you to put the attribution underneath the quote.
Tumblr media
@cas-420 — Left for Dead
As a spell by itself, I like how powerful it is. However, I’m not sure I understand the name as it relates to the card; I know you wanted a connection with the game, but I feel that the connection is tentative. “Last Stand” or something would have been more appropriate. I don’t think you need “All” in that second ability, and you can just steal Angel’s Grace wording for the other part. Fun Orzhov card!
Tumblr media
@dabudder — The Heart of Etheria
I love this card. It tells a story about legendary creatures, it tells a story about sacrifice, and it’s, no pun intended, heartbreaking. “Heart” in “Heart counters” doesn’t need to be capitalized, but “return” does. I feel that for storytelling it could also work better if the trigger happened at the beginning of your end step.
Tumblr media
@dimestoretajic — Shepard’s Charm
This is a weird build-around-me. I think that despite the gameplay being a little weird to say the least, you use colorless mana effectively to show artifacts as machines of their own in this world. You were right about missing “token.” It happens, no biggie. I have the feeling that running multiple copies of this is a bit much, considering the strength of “gain control of all permanents” that would eventually happen. Oh, God, copying this...
Tumblr media
@donutwraith — Unorthodox Summon
I’m afraid without context, I don’t understand this card at all. What is “sem?” What clearance? Also, why “Gentle Giant?” I know it makes sense flavorfully, perhaps, but it’s weird as an actual card type. Zero mana flash enchantments are... Dangerous, mechanically. I can’t think of any ways that it would be broken off the top of my head, but I can think of several players who’d be chomping at the bit to play it.
Tumblr media
@emmypupcake — Louisoix’s Final Sealing
Great flavor. Cool moment. Very overcosted. Six mana for a narrow removal spell like this... Well, I’d rather run a board-wipe or simply a two-mana card that does the exact same thing. For such a high cost and with the legendary restriction, in the future consider other cards and their impact that they have for that mana, then see what other powerful effect you could add.
Tumblr media
@fractured-infinity — Preservation // Ruin // Harmony
Are these the names of actual characters and events in the book? Not sure how to feel about that. I like how Harmony can be “destroyed” by your opponents chipping away at their own resources. Watch out for run-on sentences in “Ruin” with that first ability. Without the book context, I think the names are kinda banal, but that’s just me being a pretentious douche canoe. I’m sure that the books make them more effective.
Tumblr media
Genex-P — Soylent Green is People
Great flavor connection! Remember that the quote attribution needs to go on a different line, and that when making Food tokens they have reminder text instead of rules text, see Bake into a Pie. Also, remember, a COMMA after the G, and exile a human CARD. Gotta be specific about these things!
Tumblr media
@ghost31415926535 — Siege of the White Lotus
Really interesting enchantment! I love how it rewards multicolor strategies and turns all your stuff into the Avatar in their own special way. Flavorfully, it’s been a while since I’ve watched AtlA but there are other people who can tell me whether or not this checks out. I’m a fan of the card in general. Just remember proper capitalization and punctuation. There may be an easier way of wording this all too, but I like how it reads.
Tumblr media
@gollumni — Imperfect Clone
Darnit, Brian. Bryan? Whatevers. I love this flavor, especially in context. I’m thinking of different ways to word it. “Until end of turn, target creature you control has the same base power and toughness as target creature you don’t control.” IDK, this card’s fun.
Tumblr media
@greensunzenith — The Culling of Straholme
I love this card, and the only thing that bugs me, the ONLY thing, is that I didn’t know if that first ability “works.” Aether Storm shows that it does, and I should have done more research. Call this one an honorary runner-up. It tells a fantastic story about the option of destruction followed by the inevitable turning. Man, yeah, whoever’s reading this, this card’s getting added to the runner’s up. It was a really tough series of choices this week.
Tumblr media
@haru-n-harkel — Passing of the Matrix
What an interesting card! I’m not sure what the Matrix is, but this card lets me show that it’s a mark of leadership, that it makes a creature legendary flavorfully, and that it’s not resigned to one generation. Not bad! You don’t need “target” in the first line, and don’t forget that when you do a quote, the name goes on a separate line.
Tumblr media
@hypexion — The Turning
Pretty sure there should be an emdash between 8 and WW, but I forget. Anyway, funky little card you got here. I’m not sure why it doesn’t have a mana cost flavorfully, but I get how it works mechanically. Good on you for the wording of the activated ability. I’m not sure how something “turning” begets the flavor of destruction, though? Also, yadda yadda quoter second line, you’ve heard me say it thrice up there.
Tumblr media
@ignorantturtlegaming — Yoshi’s Adventure
Well if this ain’t a flavor win if I ever saw one! Dinos, eggs, and humans. Really funky stuff. Three wording things. One: The second ability should be something more like “Whenever a Human you control dies, sacrifice ~.” Two: You don’t need to “Sacrifice an Egg you control,” just “Sacrifice an Egg.” Three: It should be “”This creature deals 2 damage to any target.”” instead of just “deal.” Other than that, great first submission.
Tumblr media
@illharg-the-rave-boar — Shutdown
Ah, sci-fi. One day we’ll get there in Magic. Anyway, this card! I think that you could have stapled the “End the turn” line to the previous one, but aside from that, I think this card is super cool, a good mythic for this day and age. Pretty fun in a midrange-control build. I know nothing about the game, but I like the feeling of a forced shutdown that you present. Probably the best example of the genre we could ask for.
Tumblr media
@juggernaut-is-a-metalhead — Blood and Thunder
This is a weird heckin’ card. The name and flavor text feel really disconnected from the abilities, though, which is a shame because mechanically this is an insane card that could be very fun in the right deck. The flavor the abilities present of “the world is breaking around me but with enough power I turn into a leviathan” is really awesome.
Tumblr media
@kavinika — Sadeas’s Betrayal
Let’s look at the card Sudden Disappearance. With that, I believe this spell could read “Exile all creatures you control.  Return the exiled cards to the battlefield under their owner's control at the beginning of the next end step. Then, destroy all creatures attacking a player or permanent other than you.” You don’t necessarily need the combat clause, but I understand how it could be useful to prevent just blinking. Maybe if it destroyed any number of target  attacking creatures?
Tumblr media
@koth-of-the-hammerpants — Holistic Assassination
9/10, but 1. Enchantments don’t tap, and 2. This feels like it would be very easy to abuse without a higher cost for returning it. Flavor’s interesting, card plays great, it’s a pain in the butt. Very fun.
Tumblr media
@mistershinyobject — Zulf’s Fate
Once again, you return creature cards from the graveyard to the battlefield. Wording aside, I really like the dichotomy of this card. It’s a gristly fate that you presented quite well. There’s not a lot to say because the card speaks for itself, and that’s a strength.
Tumblr media
@misterstingyjack — Shared Demise
I don’t really like the wording on this, as interesting as the concept is. I feel like it’s a bit much for one chunk of text. Maybe “fate counters” could work here? Like, when ~ enters the battlefield, put a fate counter on target creature, whenever a creature with a fate counter leaves the battlefield sacrifice enchanted creature, and when enchanted creature leaves the battlefield the fate counter creatures are sacrificed? I hope that makes sense. It’s hard to feel “clean” with the wording you have here.
Tumblr media
@nine-effing-hells — Hydraulic Salvation
Neat little name! I don’t think you need to add “if you do” to that second mode. And on a card like this, I wouldn’t add the flavor text. I really don’t think it’s strong enough to add anything to this card. Flavorful use of Miracle, though.
Tumblr media
@piecesofliquid — Tragic Reunion
This is a really cool card. Wording seems a little off, but you used flavor effectively to bring back two dueling characters. “You and target opponent each return up to one creature card from your graveyards to the battlefield. Those creatures gain vigilance, haste, and “etc.”” Great use of dual flavor text, even though I can’t quite tell who’s saying what. I don’t watch the show, thpt.
Tumblr media
@shakeszx — I Am Iron Man
I really like how we got two Iron Man submissions next to each other, lol. Two things: It should be “tap an UNTAPPED non-Legendary creature you control,” and you need a shuffle clause at the end of the whole thing. Great idea, funky flavor. Feels more like citizens summoning a legend, but I like the notion anyway. It’s very marvel. Could be RW.
Tumblr media
@shootingstarhunter — Inevitable Ultimatum
Having watched the movie, this card would have made more sense if it was an additional cost to sacrifice the legendary creature and it just destroyed all nonland permanents you didn’t control. Also, the flavor text should be in quotes. Aside from that, I really love this card. It’s an ultimatum that feels like an ultimatum. It’s appropriately costed and at the right rarity. So there we go!
Tumblr media
@snugz — Good King Moggle Mog XII
What a name. This is a frustrating and flavorfully annoying boss card that I can imagine an AI playing as kind of an Arena boss fight. Fourteen power for eight mana is... Well, it’s not the craziest thing Magic’s done in the past, but the fact that it repeats, man. 10/10 for cute and game capture feel.
Tumblr media
@sorustyitshines — The World Eater’s Ascent
I get that it’s an epic card, but “can’t be countered” isn’t really in the BW pie. Regardless, it’s a powerful boardwipe that, uh, doesn’t destroy enchantments for some reason? Not sure why, maybe it’s an in-game thing. Anyway, fine Commander card, good Evil Rise kinda thing. Overall interesting, but not my favorite in terms of execution.
Tumblr media
@starch255 — Enter Star Wolf
“For each of them, create a token that’s a copy of that card, except...” I think is the right wording. At least that’s how I grok it. Funky little card! I love how you used black Vehicles to create the evil spaceship feel. It’s a good sci-fi trope to have vehicles. The “four” is also a nice touch.
Tumblr media
@teaxch — Claudius’s Plan
Now ain’t this tragic. Interesting card! I like how it only lasts for a turn, giving your opponent one turn to have the deathtouch brigade. Not sure exactly how a poisoned chalice gives EVERYTHING deathtouch, but what the hell, it’s Shakespearian, everything’s tragic, right? I think this card is pretty cool, would make limited fun.
Tumblr media
@thegreateyebrows — Khert Fire
Hm, that might have to be a replacement ability. “If a spell or ability would target a permanent or player, that spell targets a permanent or player chosen at random instead.” “Whenever a player casts a spell, if that spell has no target, Khert Fire deals 2 damage to that player.” It doesn’t really need vanishing. If there are any rules people out there, tell me if my wording is off.
Tumblr media
@tmstage — Cage the Traveler
This probably should be a rare for how niche the hate is, like Blood Moon, but the ability certainly feels mythic. I like this card a lot. I’ve never played destiny, but this card gives me stakes. There’s a “traveler,” akin to a planeswalker, and there’s something sapping them of their power, a primary antagonist with a goal and a mysterious identity. Bam, established. Not a bad job.
~
Thank you all for your entries! New contest tomorrow.

PLEASE GIVE ALL OF YOUR THOUGHTS AND FEELINGS AFTER FFH
I LITERALLY DON’T THINK I CAN DO THAT BC IT’S WILD UP IN MY BRAIN RN BUT LET’S ATTEMPT SOME BULLET POINTS
•it was SO fun. Everyone got me so scared to go see it but instead I had a blast. Sure the emotional parts were a little rough but what no one told me is that the movie put the pieces back together too! It felt very healing as far as Endgame sadness and no one told me it would be like that. Plus I thought it was so funny and Peter & his friends & teachers were GOLD
•I love this MJ. GOD do I LOVE this MJ. Zendaya is wonderful. “Awkward teen” is such a common archetype that it never seems to feel real and miss zendaya waltzes in with her impeccable acting instincts and realistic quirks and mannerisms and just nails this teenaged character with complete authenticity.......wig
•in the same vein I’m head over heels for this version of petermj GOD YES I don’t want perfectly romantic high school couples because things don’t WORK like that!! Why did things ever work like that!! Plus like every version of Peter Parker is a big nerd anyway it’s just unrealistic to expect him to have any game, you know? I love watching Zendaya & Tom play off of each other bc they both have SOLID instincts honestly they’re a joy to watch when they share the screen
•jake gyllenhaal man,,,,,jake gyllenhaal,,,,I don’t even know where to go with this. Mysterio was a cheesy level of evil, like he was ridiculously theatrical, and it would have been cheesy and ridiculous in less skilled hands but INSTEAD mr jake SNATCHED my WIG. He was so goshdarn charming in the first half that I caught myself wanting to like him (when I wasn’t mentally challenging him to fight me in a Walmart parking lot for being such a huge jerk) and that was all well and good but once he got to let his villainy loose? WOOOOOO okay first of all that SMILE that goshdarn SMILE the second Peter left the bar haha oh MAN he just, like, flipped a switch, you know? WILD. Riveting. mr jake’s teeth get 20 Oscars ALSO his villain speech? I can’t get into it there’s a lot to unpack but his delivery was so great. SO great. I loved how he was generally reserved and charming even when evil so that the moments when he had an outburst were scary. Like any time when he got angry and started yelling felt like a Moment bc of how he held back for the rest of it. He was always so deliciously menacing too like ugh sometimes I just love a good old fashioned villain, you know? He’s not terribly complicated, he’s pretty much just evil! Simple as that! Woohoo! And his dying line gave me CHILLS it wasn’t even just the line even tho the words are chill-enducing enough but it was his DELIVERY that just SENT ME like the way he’s trailing off and ESPECIALLY that creepy & deranged little smile AAAAHHHHHHH
•while we’re on the last line I get chills when I think about it bc when remembering the moment you fit the mid credit scene in with it and it’s like,,,,so THAT’S what that means,,,,THAT’S what the smile is for,,,,,THAT’S why you’re so pleased that anyone will believe anything,,,,,W I L D
•and I thought it was so cool how they updated Mysterio. He’s a special effects guy, right? That’s how the story goes when you look back at his origin comic, yeah? So to see him working with modern special effects instead of the practical effects of the era of his debut was so cool. Seeing Jake Gyllenhaal walk around in a Marvel movie wearing a morph suit was kinda meta and I kinda dig it. I thought it was all very creative
•if you had told me years ago that Back in Black by AC/DC would be the thing to set off an emotional outburst for me I literally would not have believed you but here we are
•no joke I was doing a relatively good job of holding it together (and relative is good for me) until AC/DC started playing, then I kinda lost it
•TOM HOLLAND SMASHED IT
•HE JUST SMASHED IT IDK
•THE SCENE IN THE PLANE. YOU KNOW THE ONE. 3000 OSCARS FOR MR TOM real talk I would kill to see him do a legit drama piece and I also can’t even imagine what he’ll be doing when he’s older. I mean. He’s pulling this out in a summer blockbuster of all things before he’s 25.....imagine what he’ll be doing if he gets to the point of having, like, decades of experience behind him
•the part when he was building his suit.......I cried
•as far as the plot...on one hand? Predictable every step of the way. On the other hand? I find a weird satisfaction in watching a movie that flawlessly fulfills basic beat structure and yeah it would be boring if every movie did that but it’s okay sometimes
•the first scene. the first. goshdarn scene. I have never truly known what it was like to laugh and cry at the same time
•MJ AND A MACE!!!! YEAH!
•I like how this movie begins with the question “is Spider-Man the next Iron Man” and proceeds to answer it with “no. He’s Spider-Man and that’s more than good enough.” Tony’s shadow is a huge one to live under and I love that the movie explicitly places Peter outside of that shadow. Like, yeah, he’s similar to Tony in some ways but at the end of the day? He’s his own hero. It’s highlighted even more by the fact that Mysterio is his foil and Mysterio wanted to be the new Iron Man.
•I don’t know what I was expecting from the second credit scene but that......wasn’t it. The two credits scenes threw me through more loops than the entire actual movie did
•J Jonah Jameson got a bigger reaction out of me than anything else in the movie by far
•I swear to you the words “pizza time” were uttered in this film I just don’t remember where
•I literally thought I was going to die when looking at Peter immediately after he got hit by the train
•the consistency with the limp throughout the whole second half really heckin Got Me and also how he touched his ribs in the final battle bc they were injured from the train accident. It’s the little things like that that make Peter seem more human & genuine
•WHEN HE SAW HAPPY AND WAS AFRAID OF HIM BC HE DIDN’T KNOW IF HE WAS REAL,,,,THAT HURT MY GUYS,,,,POOR BBY BOYYYYY but then when he hugged Happy I thought I was going to have a meltdown don’t worry I didn’t
•the scene where Mysterio seriously gets in Peter’s head, you know the one, good golly was that overwhelming. Like. I was feeling the need to jump up and start pacing the floor, you know? It was really well done and it stressed me outtt
•Iron Zombie had me feelin a little queasy if I’m being totally real here lol I was not feelin good about that one
•it took me the whole 2 hours to bounce back from “even dead I’m the hero” oh my god that was SO Tony. I can hear it in his voice. I miss him.
•can’t believe Tony is still out here fully protecting Peter with a whole army of drones from beyond the grave wow the irondad JUMPED out
•BUT OVERALL I FEEL SO GREAT AND EXCITED ABOUT THIS MOVIE WOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Hey! Do you have any fluffy Patton headcanons? The unsympathetic Patton discourse has made me kinda upset. If you could help, that's be great. If not, I still adore your work! Thank you either way, and have a wonderful day!
Heck yea!!
Patton ADORES playing the dad role. He just loves his kiddos and wants the best for them and that’s just how he shows it!
Any time anyone calls him dad he gets super happy and excited!!!
It’s extra special when Logan does it because he tends to point out that their family dynamic is imaginary, but occasionally Logan realizes Patton’s having a bad day and he purposely calls him dad and Patton just loves his smart lil kiddo :’)
Patton likes to collect cute, silly toys. He has a large assortment of animal squishes that he plays with when stressed.
Remember how he said his YouTube channel would be him playing with goo and paint? Well, Virgil, who likes it for the ASMR, introduced him to the slime trend on YouTube and Patton fell in LOVE
With some help from Roman, Patton decided to whip up a batch of his own slime, which he gleefully added all sorts of glitter and beads to
(Roman specially conjured some puppy and kitty charms for him and that slime is by far his favorite)
He loves making slime because it’s a lot like cooking but he also gets to play with goo and paint! What a win-win!
Patton tends to stay up late a lot and he always makes a round before bed where he checks on all his kiddos. Many times has told the others to go to heckin sleep. Mostly Virgil.
When Roman’s brainstorming he can get kinda insecure or creativeblocked so sometimes he goes to Pat just to get a pep talk or inspiration for a particularly dull character. Roman always feels better after.
Logan groans at all of Patton’s puns but he secretly loves them. Puns are clever word games and he’s got a lot of respect for that quick thinking, he just refuses to show it.
Patton’s nostalgia is the reason certain things in the mindscape are the way they are. His patton-ted pancakes taste delicious and the blanket everyone uses for movie nights is super duper soft because those are some of his favorite memories.
Patton loves all the sides (even the dark sides) regardless of what he believes of their traits. Part of his personality is that he wants to care for everyone. Maybe he doesn’t understand how the dark sides’ can be helpful, but he isn’t going to just abandon them.
Patton discovered Deceit is cold blooded once and immediately knitted him a large comfy blanket. Deceit insisted he had enough to keep him warm but took it anyway.
Although he plays the dad throughout the day, he really gets to step up the role whenever Roman and Remus interact. Too many sibling shenanigans.
Alright, that’s all I’ve got for now. Feel free to add on, ‘cuz Patton is such a great character and I’d love to see what everyone else has to say!

Okay I watched the 1997 Oscar Wilde (yes only for Micheal Sheen sue me) and I have some (a lot of) words
Spoilers but honestly I'm too mad to care about that. I am sorry for the pain this movie has caused anyone including myself I needed to rant.
So I'm not entirely sure how historical accurate this movie is but it doesn't pertain to this because I am only mad at the movie. If it isn't historically accurate someone please tell me because I really hope this wasn't how Oscar Wilde's life actually went.
It doesn't show how Oscar Wilde got his fame just starts in the peak of it
Also in America????? They name a mine after him?????? Why????? What story got traction in America? It is never told? Why is he in America????? There are so many shirtless boys around him?
He wants to marry Constance only because she is nice and quiet? "I need an audience" he says. Screw you, Constance is a lovely woman. Can she be my wife????? I'll actually treat her right.
He then meets Robbie after the birth of his first son. Robbie (17 while Oscar was 34???) Had to do very little swaying to get Oscar to sleep with him. Oscar was married! With a child! And cheated on his wife! With a minor!!! Yes Robbie initiated but it doesn't change the fact that Oscar still cheated on his wife
This went on for years! Years of adultery!!!! Even has a second son!
Then the second another pretty face makes any sense of an articulate conversation with Oscar he sleeps with that guy! While Robbie is there with him!
He cheated on Constance with Robbie then cheats on Robbie with that other guy! At the Art Gala Robbie took him to!
They have one evening together and Guy #2 has fallen in love with Oscar! Oscar says he returns it
BUT THEN
IN COMES IN LORD BOSIE
NOW THIS SH*T SL*T TW*NK
Bosie tells his friend to bring Oscar to him
BAM Oscar is gone.
Mr. Pretty Twink Boy walks in and Oscar is ready to bed another boy......
WHAT
Bosie is all like "Wah look how sad I am but I can do okay poetry and have a mediocre singing voice please be my sugar daddy"
Oscar then leaves the other boy for Bosie
It's like Bosie knows he's pretty and also knows Oscar is rich (for right now) so you bet he uses his beauty to his advantage
Makes Oscar pay for his meals and buys a new house and clothes and all kinds of presents and then throws tantrums because he is a brat
Even takes him to brothels so Oscar can watch him have sex and he constantly "gifts" young men to Oscar!!!!
Then when Oscar is ready to leave him (why hasn't he killed him at this point) Bosie will do another sob story and cry about how hard his life is so Oscar will come "comfort him again"
But then when Oscar is sick and wants water? Boom tantrum. Refuses to take care of him. Says how boring and old Oscar is AND THROWS THE JUG OF WATER
BOSIE CHILL
Then while all of this is happening Constance is at home. Alone. With two children. And in need of back surgery!
Also guess what Robbie (my favorite character honestly) is up to!
Cleaning up Oscar's messes! Consoling Guy#2. Helping Constance with the children. Helping with Oscar's plays. ALL WHILE BEING A GOOD FRIEND TO OSCAR
After Bosie's tantrum with the water? Yeah Robbie comes and cleans it up and gives Oscar medicine and takes care of him....
AND IN THE MIDDLE OF THAT OSCAR RUNS TO HELP BOSIE
WITH NO THOUGHT REGARDING ROBBIE
After Robbie keeps his reputation clean and helps keep his plays running!
Also while all of this is happening Bosie's father (who is a vile and abusive man) is spreading rumors of how evil Oscar is and how much of a pervert he is. How he "corrupted" his son AS IF BOSIE WASNT DOING ALL THE CORRUPTION AND MANIPULATING OSCAR FOR HIS OWN DESIRES IN THE FIRST PLACE
Of course Bosie forces Oscar to take him to court EVEN THOUGH ROBBIE BEGGED HIM NOT TO
And guess what! Robbie was right!!!
Oscar lost and got sent to jail and hard labor for 2 years for homosexuality and it's all Bosie's fault!!!!
Then Constance goes visits him in jail and he asks her if she would allow him to see the children after this
" Of course I will, but on one condition. Never see Bosie ever again."
To which Oscar replies "Honestly if I ever were to see Bosie again I'd kill him."
GREAT I HATE HIM THAT BRAT
Oscar even writes him a letter on how he never wants to see him again
So yeah you would think he would get out of Prison and be with Robbie and be with his family.
NOPE
CONSTANCE DIES BECAUSE WHY THE FCK NOT AND THE GOVERNMENT TAKES HIS CHILDREN AWAY AND DOESNT ALLOW HIM TO SEE THEM
At least Robbie is there to care for him and give him love even tho Oscar doesn't deserve him at heckin all!
BUT OF COURSE while they are out at lunch Oscar says "I'm gonna see Bosie again."
To which Robbie replies "I know."
But on the inside I'm pretty sure he is going
Tumblr media
And then he goes finds Bosie and embraces him.
AND THATS IT THATS THE MOVIE
WIFE DEAD
NO CHILDREN
SOFT BOI GETTING SCREWED OVER
OSCAR GOES TO BOY WHO WAS THE REASON HE WAS IN JAIL IN THE FIRST PLACE
BOSIE LIVES A LONG 45 YEARS AFTER HIS DEATH
MY ONLY SOLICE IS THAT IN THE 50S ROBBIES ASHES ARE PUT INTO OSCARS TOMB
Btw the brat Bosie? Played by Jude Law..... Why am I not surprised.
In conclusion: Oscar Wilde can personally fight me his hair is stupid anyway. Robbie Ross deserved better. I want to marry Constance AND TREAT HER RIGHT
And Me everytime Bosie comes on screen

This isn't proofread at all, but here you go. One Remile fic is just as good as like a bottle of medicine right??
Remy didn't even hear it happen. He just saw movement out of the corner of his eye, and when his head turned, he saw someone being pushed to the ground. Three teenage boys were laughing at a girl who was now lying on the pavement, her knee scraped. Remy huffed out an agitated breath and marched over.
"Why did you do that?"
The three boys turned to see Remy crossing his arms at them, and they started to laugh at him too. "Get lost, kid, you're too young to have such an attitude. What are you, like five? Six?"
Remy glared up at them through his dollar-store sunglasses. "I'm eight, thank you very much," he said, eliciting howling laughter from the teens. He knew he was a little short for his age, but who were these kids, pushing people around just cuz they're older?
"C'mon, let's go. Kid's not worth it." The teens walk away, shoving Remy aside. As soon as they leave, he kneels down next to the girl they pushed.
"Are you okay?" Remy asked, offering his hand. The girl sniffed and nodded, letting Remy pull her up. "Do you need a bandaid?"
The girl frowns, her head turning to the ditch on the side of the sidewalk, where a stuffed fish lay, dirtied by the mud. "They ruined my Dory," the girl whispered. Remy could see tears pricking in the corners of her eyes, and he quickly ran down into the ditch to grab the plushie.
"Hey, it's okay," he said when he got back up. "We can clean it." He holds his hand out again, and the girl takes it, letting Remy lead the way. "What's your name?" he asks.
"Emily," the girl replies.
"Okay, Emily. Let's go clean your Dory."
---
After that, they were nearly inseparable. Remy took to being Emily's bodyguard, going everywhere with her to make sure no one messed with her. People bugged him over and over, teasing him and asking if he was her boyfriend. Remy didn't see that as much of an insult.
He was there for her on the night that her parents got divorced, and she ran to his house and cried, so he took her into the woods so they could be alone while they talked. He was with her throughout middle school when she would get 50s and 60s on her psychology tests, so disheartened because all she wanted was to pursue that path. He was willing to rewatch and rewatch and rewatch again "Finding Nemo" because every time it was Emily's turn to pick the movie she would without a doubt pull out the blue DVD case.
He was there on the night that Emily--now Emile--told Remy that he was a boy, and that his parents weren't happy about it. He was there during high school when Emile's dad decided he was old enough, and kicked him out of the house, and Remy took him in and let him cry into his shoulder, and begged his mom to let Emile stay. He was there to see Emile's marks slowly improve, to the point where he would get upwards of 90s and even 100s on his psychology test, because Remy suggested studying tactics that would link the answers back to Disney movies, which made Emile understand them so much better. He made sure everyone knew that it was Remy to thank for his marks.
---
"Remy? Can I talk to you for a minute?"
Remy looked up from his phone, confused. "We've kinda been talking for like... all of lunch period, Ems," Remy replied. Emile shook his head.
"I mean alone. Without all these people around." Emile had his arms tucked around himself, and Remy got the feeling that it was an important topic, so he shut off his phone and stuffed it in his pocket, extending his hand for Emile to take. Like always, Emile let Remy lead the way outside.
They stopped when they were in the middle of the baseball field, completely deserted except for a group of kids on the other side, too far to hear what they were saying. "This is good?" Remy asked. Emile nodded, tapping his fingers against his leg. His eyes wander away. He was never great at eye contact anyway, not that it bothered Remy any.
"You're... are you going to the prom with Roman?" Emile finally asks. His voice is timid, and Remy's brow furrows.
"What? No. I don't have a date to prom. I thought we were just gonna hang out there, you and me. Why would you think I'm going with Roman?"
Emile bites the insides of his cheeks, his eyes flitting around the grass. "You're always flirting with him. I thought you two were together," he says quietly.
"...I flirt with everyone, Em. I would have told you if I was with someone."
"Why don't you flirt with me then?"
Remy's heart jumps. "Because... we've been friends forever. I'm so used to your presence... I don't think... it's not just that easy to start with someone who's all... like, if I know them--" Remy stutters out, his eyes flicking away. Truthfully, it was just hard to flirt with Emile. Flirting pointlessly with someone Remy wasn't interested in--that came easily. When that person is Emile though, it becomes a whole different story. Remy actually likes Emile. How do you flirt with someone you like?
Both of them are silent for a few moments, before Emile slowly sucks in a breath and says, "do you want to go to the prom with me?"
"We're already going to the prom--"
"No, I mean... Do you want to go to the prom with me? Like, will you be my date? Uh, romantically?" Emile's eyes are trained on the ground as he says this. "A-And, I don't just want it to be prom, too. I like you a lot, Remy, and I want to be your boyfriend. I never told you, c-cuz you never seemed to pay that kind of attention to me. It was like--like I was the only one you didn't think that way about, and I'm so scared, because you're such a loving person, what does that say if you don't like me? What if--"
"Woah, woah, slow down, Em." Remy gently places a hand on either side of Emile's face, coaxing him to turn his head, to look at him. It isn't often that Remy gets to see Emile's eyes straight-on, and seeing them filled with tears hurts him deeply. "This is okay?" he whispers. Emile nods, though his eyes flicker to the side for a moment.
Remy takes his hands away from Emile's face and moves them to his forearms, sitting down in the grass and bringing Emile down to sit with him.
"I never meant to make you feel like that, Em," Remy says softly. In the distance, they hear the bell go off, signalling the end of the lunch period, but they stay still in the grass. Physics be damned, Emile is more important right now. "And if it makes you feel any better, then I want you to know that I've liked you for a long while."
Emile smiles besottedly, ducking his head and picking at the grass with his fingers.
"Emile?" Remy whispers. "Can I kiss you?"
Emile's heart thuds against his chest, and he nods. "Yeah."
Remy's hands are on his cheeks again, and he leans forward, pressing his lips to Emile's forehead for a few seconds before pulling back. Emile laughs a little, then lifts his eyes to meet Remy's. "You missed," he says, and then leans forward to capture Remy's lips.
