message received. Asami with 16 and 22!
YAY thank you!!
16. What's your least favorite ship for this character?
This one's hard because I hate drama and I don't really think any ship is "bad" BUT I can't see Asami/Wu working. They're a "let's get fancy little overpriced drinks and compare the thread counts of our bedsheets" duo. To me. I'm trying to envision them on a date, and the only thing my brain can conjure up is Wu talking a mile a minute about whatever the fuck to keep everyone around them so distracted they don't notice he's gay. Meanwhile Asami's saying absolutely nothing and doing math in her head.
22. If you're a fic reader, what's something you like in fics when it comes to ths character? Something you don't like?
I like when people understand that her personality doesn't begin and end at "rich and pretty," and I really don't like when she's portrayed as a hyperfeminine doormat. Like yeah, she's always wearing makeup and has a tendency to prioritize the needs/feelings of others above her own. She's also happy to get her hands dirty operating and fixing heavy machinery, and isn't afraid to speak her mind and stand her ground when she thinks the situation calls for it.
The curse of being an underdeveloped side character is that there's less material to work with, I'll give people that. But she's more than just "the hot one." She IS hot don't get me wrong, I mean we've all seen her....but that's not the only thing she is. You didn't ask but my spicy take of the day is that if she was a man she'd have novel-length essays analyzing her every word and action, and people would be inventing all sorts of backstories to fill in the blanks left by canon, but since she's a woman people rarely make that effort and just write her off as flat and boring.

Best Heroine Butts Ch 1
Read on Ao3
A group chat to determine which of the hero girls has the best butt.
Rating: T, for sexual humor and innuendo
Welcome to the beginning of the Best Heroine Butts group.
Adrien-Agreste: What is this?
KingOfDares: Max said I had to start a new chat for “informed consent” or w/ever
KingOfDares: basically we’re ranking the hero girls butts
Luka Luka Night Fever: just the girls?
KingOfDares: we’ll do the dudes later ofc
max: I believe I have invited everyone who is interested in women.
Queen.B: why am I here?? I’m not into girls
max: You can leave if you’d like
Queen.B: no I wanna see what you rate me 😉
LadyBlogger: dude you forgot Marinette
Everyone welcome coffeenette!
Everyone welcome SwordQueen!
max: Is that everyone?
craM has left.
artisanalsoul: Marc isn’t really into girls sorry
Everyone welcome justsabthings!
Everyone welcome (sending love from Achu) Lila!
max: This is definitely everyone. Now, I will name one of the known heroines of Paris, and please rate their butt on a scale of 1-10. Markov will compile the ratings and we will know with certainty who has the best butt. As I am asexual, I will be abstaining and remain a neutral party.
coffeenette: okay but why
KingOfDares: science!
KingOfDares: also Alix said Bunnyx has the best butt
KingOfDares: so I gotta prove her wrong with math and shit.
Sk8erGrrl: you’re just mad I didn’t say Queen B you simp
LadyBlogger: oh this sounds fun and definitely not a potential blog post or anything :)
coffeenette: Alya no
LadyBlogger: Alya yes
max: without further ado, let’s begin with Ladybug. Feel free to abstain for any personal reason.
LadyBlogger: 10/10!!
Luka Luka Night Fever: agreed, 10/10
Queen.B: 9/10
Sk8erGrrl: thought u weren’t into girls ;)
Queen.B: Ladybug doesn’t count.
Sk8erGrrl: anyways 6/10. Nice but needs to be more grabbable
Adrien-Agreste: 100/10
coffeenette: what?? isn't it only out of 10???
Adrien’s new dad: dude if you ever heard him talking about her then you’d know that’s him being chill.
Adrien-Agreste: Nino please change your name
Adrien’s new dad: no. also, 7/10. Alix is right, needs more badonk in the donk
SwordQueen: 9/10. Aesthetically, she is beautiful, but 10/10 must be reserved for…let’s say superior strength
LadyBlogger: so basically if she could crack walnuts with her ass you’d be into it?
SwordQueen: if you ever happen to catch a video of this incident, please share it.
justsabthings: um 9/10 I guess
Asami: 8
Korra: 10/10!!!!
KingOfDares: 9/10 for sure. good butt but she’s so skinny
coffeenette: umm 7/10 I guess
Adrien-Agreste: That’s it?
LadyBlogger: yeah m you loooove her like the rest of us don’t you???
coffeenette: I’m just not that into butts
artisinalsoul: 10/10. Her butt is literally the golden ratio. It’s amazing.
artisanalsoul: also no one’s going to tell Marc what I say here right?
coffeenette: of course not. is everything okay?
artisinalsoul: yeah yeah it’s just weird to talk about people I’m not dating
max: Lila, do you have a rating?
Korra: oh she’s in Achu this week remember?? She’s probably too busy ^_^
**
Private chat with LadyBlogger.
coffeenette: alya I’m gonna die
LadyBlogger: loverboy gave you 100/10 ;)
coffeenette: I KNOW THAT’S THE PROBLEM
coffeenette: adrien??? Has been looking at my BUTT???
coffeenette: HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO LIVE WITH THIS KNOWLEDGE
coffeenette: is it a bad idea to just swing over there and be like hi I am Ladybug I hear you like my butt would you like to touch it
LadyBlogger: amazing idea. Do it.
coffeenette: alya no you’re supposed to be my impulse control
LadyBlogger: since WHEN
**
max: Let’s move on to Rena Rouge.
Adrien’s new dad: 100/10
Adrien-Agreste: and this is Nino being chill
artisinalsoul: 8/10. Less of a perfect ratio but I would like to touch it
LadyBlogger: dude SAME
LadyBlogger: 10/10 of course
LadyBlogger: Rena’s hot
coffeenette: Alya chill
LadyBlogger: ALYA NO CHILL
justsabthings: 7/10
justsabthings: but she’s really pretty!
Asami: 7
Korra: juleka what about that thing you were saying last night though???
Asami: …
Asami: 10
Korra: 10/10 for me too!!! I would like to use her butt as a pillow! ^_^
Sk8erGrrl: 9/10, she’d jiggle if you smacked that and that’s hot
Adrien’s new dad: hell yeah it is!!
LadyBlogger: oh you like the jiggle huh? ;) ;) ;)
Adrien’s new dad: you know it babe
coffeenette: take it to DMs
LadyBlogger: HEY NINO WHAT DO YOU THINK OF RENA ROUGE’S TITS
Adrien’s new dad: I THINK THEY’RE RATHER GREAT AND I WOULD LIKE TO MOTORBOAT THEM
coffeenette: banned. all of you banned.
Adrien-Agreste: 7/10 on the butt and no comment on the
Adrien-Agreste: the boobs
Adrien’s new dad: haha dude we all know you don’t even notice boobs unless they got spots on them
Adrien-Agreste: can you please not
SwordQueen: You were staring when I wore that polka dot bra one time.
Adrien-Agreste: Kagami!
Adrien-Agreste: for the record that’s because we were changing after fencing and I happened to notice and I WAS NOT STARING
coffeenette: wait is that the one you got when we went shopping that one time?
coffeenette: that was really cute on you! I’m so glad you bought it!
Adrien-Agreste: wait you told her to buy it?
coffeenette: um yes and I kindagotamatchingone because it’s really super cute ^^;
LadyBlogger: maybe she can show you sometime sunshine
coffeenette: ALYA
Adrien’s new dad: I think you killed Adrien
Adrien’s new dad: RIP my only son
Adrien’s new dad: died doing what he loved, thinking about Ladybug boobs
Adrien-Agreste: please stop
SwordQueen: I rate Rena Rouge a 6/10.
coffeenette: 10/10!
Luka Luka Night Fever: I guess 5/10. Sorry Rena’s just really not my type.
KingOfDares: 10/10, you guys can’t appreciate a good ass
LadyBlogger: Kim’s right and he should say it
**
Private chat with SwordQueen
Adrien-Agreste: did you really have to bring that up?
Adrien-Agreste: I’m so sorry I was staring, I really, really didn’t mean to
SwordQueen: No, I’m sorry. I was trying to tease you and I think I took it too far.
Adrien-Agreste: so you’re not still mad about it?
SwordQueen: Of course not. You’re a dear friend, Adrien. Also, I know I look good.
Adrien-Agreste: okay. thank you.
SwordQueen: The bra does look better on Marinette, though.
Adrien-Agreste: I’m trying not to think about Mari’s bra
Adrien-Agreste: that’s weird
SwordQueen: So, should I not invite you the next time we shop for lingerie together?
SwordQueen: (I am teasing you again.)
Adrien-Agreste: GAMI
Adrien-Agreste: she’s just a friend! I don’t think about friend boobs!
SwordQueen: Oh? I was only talking about her bra, not her breasts.
SwordQueen: (Still teasing. Do the tone indicators help?)
Adrien-Agreste: GAMI NO
Adrien-Agreste: (yes they help a lot, thank you :) )

i’m so sorry to all my followers but here’s another eesha goes crazy in the discord and this time with.............
WU AND ASAMI FRIENDSHIP
so wu and korra plan to go out after one of those meetings with all the world leaders
but korra has to help with avatar stuff and wu is left with asami, who’s gone to pick korra up
and asami has to do her engineer stuff and is still kind of 😐 with wu and leaves him off to the side because she assumes he won’t do anything (valid of her)
and then she’s stuck with the planning of a machine and the dimensions are off so she’s trying to figure it out and is like mumbling to herself
“24x7?? what would the surface area be?? would that work? what’s 27x7 anyway?” like kind of offhandedly
and wu answers immediately
“168”
and asami like :0 and 🤨 because that’s quick math, how would he know that?
but wu’s great aunt drilled multiplication into his head
and they bond over dissing wu’s great aunt
(asami is like “the earth queen right? agni, what a bitch” and then realizes who she just said it to and is like oh shit 😳 and wu like cackles and agrees like “yeah what a bitch”)
and now asami won’t do math without her human calculator
wu deals with asami gushing about korra and asami gets wu a new wardrobe
FASHION TRIP WITH ASAMI AND WU
they’re called the “non bender duo” until bolin joins in and is like “EARTH NATION GANG”
“bolin, opal isn’t here” “opal is an air bender so her earth nation rights have been revoked..just like mako when he became a fire bender!”
which speaking of opal, ......opal, asami, wu, and jinora weekly field trip to the book store
wu and jinora flock to the romance area where they give each other book recs, asami heads over to the engineering manuals and history novels that have been recced by wu, and opal goes to the sci-fi section
they all huddle back to read each other scenes from their respective books in the cafe after buying them
and then opal and jinora leave for the air temples and wu and asami go to the engineering plant so wu can calculate all the stuff for asami who’s testing out the new manual she bought (and read his new romance book)
basically what im saying is

Word Count: 2.4k
Requested by @lina-lovebug: Jaime Reyes x Parker! Fem! Reader? They both have a cruch on eachother and Tye and Ed and Barr tease him a lot about it, and always wonder why he doesn't just ask her out. Jaime just doesn't want to start a long distance since she lives in New York, but when she becomes part of the Young leaguers, now he has no excuse. They go out on a first date, which ends abrupt cuz his friends ended up following him. She kisses him anyway and he walks her back to Mt. Justice.
“Dude, staring at her isn’t gonna do anything.” Eduardo snickered at Jaime.
“There’s this thing called talking, you should try that with her.” Tye shook his head as he tossed the guys a soda, sitting down in the Mount Justice lounge with them.
“Shut up, guys!” Jaime groaned, face burning red.
You and your teammates, Peter Parker and Sam Alexander, were here in Rhode Island on official S.H.I.E.L.D business. This wasn’t your first visit here, so nobody was surprised when none of you had really paid attention to the debriefing back at S.H.I.E.L.D (as per usual), so the trip was taking longer than expected (as per usual). Your twin brother, Peter, was currently trying to work out some sort of deal with Black Canary, you and Sam were not listening. You were both bored, and eventually snuck off to the lounge, where some of the Outsiders were chilling.
“Guys mind if we crash here?” Sam asked them, sitting down next to Bart without an answer.
“Sure.” Tye mumbled sarcastically at him.
“So what do you guys do to avoid meetings around here?” You asked as you leaned against the back of the couch behind Jaime, eyes on the tv, which was currently playing Remember the Titans. Jaime’s eyes widened and he stiffened with how close you were to him, and his friends noticed.
“Usually just run the other direction.” Bart said through a mouthful of chips.
“What’s your meeting about, anyways?” Eduardo asked.
You and Sam both shrugged.
“How many times do we have to visit you guys for you to know we never know what’s going on?” You grinned.
“Yeah, we just follow Web Heads lead.” Sam stole a handful of chips from Bart. “It’s funny how you think we take our job seriously.”
Everyone looked at the both of you, concerned.
“We’re kidding, we take it seriously.” You reassure them. “Just nothing to do with...business meetings.”
“Nova! H/N! Get back here!” Spider Man ordered you. Sam rolled his eyes and took one last handful of chips before putting his helmet on and flying over.
“See ya later, Bug Bro.” You ruffled Jaime’s hair before shooting a web and swinging back over. Jaime’s face was now bright red, and he was clutching his soda can so tight his knuckles turned white. Eduardo and Tye started snickering at him, Jaime throwing his empty soda can at them in retaliation It didn’t affect either of them the way Jaime wanted it to, and they kept laughing at him.
“Why don’t you just ask her out?” Bart asked.
“Because.” Jaime crossed his arms and pouted.
“It’s a simple resolution, dude.” Tye picked up the soda can and tossed it back at him teasingly.
“Just ask her out, amigo!” Eduardo shouted a little too loud. Thankfully, you were too busy getting scolded by Black Canary and Batman to hear. “She obviously likes you, and even a deaf and blind man would know you like her!”
“I can’t ask her out, guys!” Jaime snapped at them, now actually angry. Now they stopped laughing and looked at him, concerned.
“Dude, whats up?” Tye asked his best friend.
“Looks, she lives all the way in New York. I live in El Paso.” Jaime sighed. “There’s no way it would work.”
“But you’re mostly here.” Bart tried to reassure him. “Rhode Island isn’t too far from New York.”
“Asami lives in Japan, we still make it work.” Tye added.
“Asami doesn’t live in Japan. She moved here last week. Don’t think I don’t remember.” Jaime mumbled.
“But before that we had a long distance thing.”
“For like a month while she sorted stuff out with her parents.” Jaime scoffed. “Y/N lives in New York. She’s not moving anytime soon.”
“So...you like her, but you’re not willing to even give long distance a try?” Eduardo raised an eyebrow.
“Well that makes me sound like el huevón, dude!” Jaime snapped. “Look, it just won’t work, okay? Would you guys just drop it?”
The boys all glanced at each other, shocked at Jaime’s outburst. He was always so chill, would hardly even yell at villains, so they almost didn’t recognize him when he was angry. Even Tye didn’t, and he’s known the guy since middle school.
“What’s the ups, dudes? Change the channel, games on.” Virgil waltzed in, snatching the remote from the coffee table.
Virgil didn’t notice the tense atmosphere until his team scored, and he went to high five Jaime, and didn’t get a response.
“Uhh...don’t leave me hangin, bro!” Virgil said, then finally looked at the other boys’ faces. “What’s going on?”
“Nothing.” Jaime grumbled, getting up and walking out to the balcony.
“What’s his deal?” Virgil asked. “I didn’t think it was physically possible for him to be angry...”
“I’ll go talk to him.” Tye rushed after Jaime.
He walked out to the balcony, Jaime sitting on the rail and mumbling to himself, something he often did when he was nervous. Tye would often catch him doing this before math tests or trying a complicated skateboard trick.
“Talk to me, man.” Tye leaned against the railing, resting his chin on his hand.
“I really like her.” Jaime said, just above a whisper. “I don’t know what to do.”
“Well, you can either tell her and try, or never tell her and miss your chance forever.” Tye said nonchalantly, staring out at the city.
“Wow. That makes me feel better.” Jaime chuckled.
“Hey, you can always count on me to be real with you.” Tye nudged him lightly.
“That I can.” Jaime playfully shoved him.
“So? What are you gonna do?” Tye raised an eyebrow.
“I’m not sure yet.”
“Bug Bro!” You shouted, before jumping onto Jaime’s back. He yelped, quickly straightening up and holding onto the backs of your legs to keep you up.
“Warn me next time?” He asked, grinning up at you and you leaned over his shoulder to see his face.
“Sorry.” You laughed, ruffling his hair affectionately. “I have news, bro.”
“What is it, bro?” He asked as he continued making his way towards the kitchen for some lunch.
“Fury gave the green light, I’m joining the Outsiders!” You beamed excitedly.
“What? Really?” Jaime asked, eyes widening in shock.
“Yeah, I’m gonna be a counselor too.” You smiled.
“Why aren’t you staying in New York?” He asked as you hopped off his back and walked next to him.
“I need a change of scenery.” You shrugged. “Some space from my brother. I love him and all, but he never lets me do a lot on missions. Thinks I’ll get hurt or whatever.”
“Is it permanent?” He asked curiously.
“Nothings permanent, Jaime.” You giggled. “But maybe. I do want to help people more directly. I love my team but I just don’t have that kind of opportunity with S.H.I.E.L.D.”
“Yeah...S.H.I.E.L.Ds kinda scary.” Jaime rubbed the back of his neck nervously. “Well, I’m glad to have you on the team, Y/N.”
“Now I’ll be with my Bug Bro all the time!” You grinned, elbowing him playfully.
“Yeah! Totally.” He grinned nervously.
“Dude, what do I even say?” Jaime hyperventilated as he paced back and forth in front of Bart and Tye.
Tye and Bart didn’t really get along, they tolerated each other, but thy weren’t best buds. But when Jaime needed help, they would stop the bickering and work together.
“You got the hard part over with.” Tye shrugged. “She said yes to the date.”
“I know. I thought that was the hard part, turns out it’s not.” Jaime said as he checked himself in the mirror for the thousandth time. “Now I gotta actually make sure she likes me?”
“Well...Yeah?” Bart blinked at his homie. “Dude, just be yourself.”
“But a little less nervous.” Tye added.
“And maybe stop sweating.” Bart nodded.
“Quit worrying about your hair, it hasn’t moved since 2008.”
“Try to flirt a little more.”
“But not too much, you don’t want to come off as an idiot.”
“But you said be myself! None of those things is myself!” Jaime shouted at his friends.
“Be yourself...but calm.” Bart instructed.
“How am I supposed to be calm? I-“
“Dude! You’re late!” Tye yelled when he saw the time, 7 minutes past when Jaime was supposed to leave to pick you up.
“Shit!” Jaime snatched his keys from the dish on the side table. “See you guys later! But what if I mess this up-“
“Go!” Tye and Bart both yelled. Jaime stuck his tongue out at ten before rushing out to his car.
Bart and Tye sat in awkward silence for a few minutes, blankly staring at the tv.
“Wanna follow him?” Bart grinned.
“Oh yeah.” Tye nodded. “Let me call for reinforcements.”
“...and then Danny punched a hole trough the wall and hit Sam on accident.” You giggled as you finished a story about your teammates.
“Isn’t Danny supposed to be the chill one?” Jaime chuckled.
“Apparently.” You shrugged. “To be fair, he had a reason to be mad.”
“I suppose. So-“ Jaime opened his mouth to ask another question, but froze when he saw something: a few tables back and on the row across from them, he saw Tye, Bart, Eduardo and Virgil wearing sunglasses, fake mustaches and their hoods. He instantly glared at them, motioning discreetly for them to leave.
“What are you-?” You turned to look where he was.
“Wait Wait Wait!” Jaime shouted, a little too loudly, gaining the attention of several other customers. He smiled nervously and cleared his throat. “Um...you mentioned earlier a time when Sam crash landed into the White House?”
“Oh yeah!” You laughed, and began the story.
Jaime wanted to pay attention, he really did, but he couldn’t take his focus off his idiot friends. First of all he couldn’t believe Tye agreed to the ‘disguises’. Second of all, he couldn’t believe they were spying on him! Had they no regard for privacy and personal space?? Okay, so, maybe he did believe it.
‘Jaime Reyes, I advise you to focus on the Y/N Parker. She may grow angry if she discovers you are not listening. Shall I activate and obliterate the Tye Longshadow, Bart Allen, Eduardo Dorado Jr and Virgil Hawkins so you may focus properly on the Y/N Parker’s story?’ The Scarab asked.
“No! No obliteration!” Jaime mumbled.
“Is the Scarab talking to you?” You asked curiously.
“Yeah, sorry. He’s been yapping in my ear, it’s hard to concentrate.” He rubbed the back of his neck nervously.
“Oh. Well, we can leave if you want.” You smiled and waved over the waitress for the check.
“Please, let me.” Jaime set down his credit card before you could even open your wallet.
“Come on, you drove us here.” You sigh as the waitress took his credit card.
“It’s no trouble, really.” He shook his head. “It’s my fault this is ending so abruptly, it’s the least I can do.”
Once the waitress came back with his card he led to back out to his car, glaring at his friends as you passed the table. They all snickered, quickly paying their bill and piling into Virgil’s car.
“Where’d they go?” Bart asked as he leaned forward, between Virgil and Tye.
“Uh...there!” Eduardo pointed ahead. “¡Dale!”
Virgil stepped on it, following close behind Jaime’s black car. Tye looked at his phone when a text alert went off, seeing a text from Jaime: Quit following me! You’re all dead!
Tye just snickered, before responding with: wow, texting and driving? Not cool, man.
They followed Jaime’s car all the way back to Mount Justice, Eduardo and Bart bickering as they tried to see between the front seats, shoving each other. Virgil parked far behind them, just close enough to be able to see.
You were clueless to the car full of idiots as Jaime walked you up to the entrance. Jaime was well aware, and worried that you would notice them.
‘Jaime Reyes, get her inside quick. Once the door shuts we shall obli-‘
“Scarab, Stop!” Jaime scolded.
“He’s still chatty?” You giggled at Jaime as you reached the doors.
“Yeah, sorry.”
“Don’t apologize. You can’t help that the alien parasite attached to you is talkative.” You smile up at him, making him laugh. “Uh...I had a really good time. Even if it was cut short.”
“Yeah, me too.” He smiled back at you, equally as nervous and awkward.
You both stood there for a few moments, not sure what to do next.
“What are they doing?” Eduardo asked as he shoved Batt aside to see better.
“They’re just standing there.” Virgil shook his head. “Is this dude really not smooth at all?”
“Trust me, hasn’t been smooth ever since we were kids.” Tye shook his head. “Doesn’t have a smooth bone in his body.”
“Actually, I’m pretty sure your bones are smooth-Ow! What?” Bart rubbed his arm where Eduardo punched him.
“Come on, Jaime, do something.” Virgil groaned, starting to get second hand embarrassment for the guy.
Jaime knew he wanted to kiss you, but was it what you wanted? Would you yell at him? Not return it? Never lack to him ever again? Luckily, his anxious thoughts were interrupted when you suddenly craned your neck up to be able to press your lips to his. It was a quick peck on the lips, just to test the waters. He pulled you in for another kiss, and you wrapped your arms around his shoulders to lift yourself up a little higher.
“Finally!” Tye shouted, probably loud enough for the both of you to hear if you weren’t so busy.
“Oh, gross! I said kiss, not suck face!” Virgil pretended to gag.
“Dang, they’re really going at it.” Bart mumbled.
“You guys ruin the mood.” Eduardo shook his head. “Is this what it’s like to date you?”
“First of all, watching someone suck face is way different than sucking face.” Tye said.
“Quit saying ‘suck face’.” Eduardo cringed.
“Second of all, I am a delight to date.”
“Ha!” Virgil snorted, then slapped his hand over his mouth when Tye sent him a death glare. “I mean...yeah dude, who wouldn’t date you? You’re just so...lovely.”
“Uh...guys...Jaime’s coming for us.” Bart warmed.
“Crap! Start the car! Start the car!” Eduardo shrieked as Jaime activates his Blue Beetle suit, flying at them with the thirst for revenge in his eyes.

It shocks me over and over again when I come across blogs that extremely aggressively, absolutely HATE LOK, Korra, korrasami and practically every character and aspect of the show. I have to share this horror with others because these are just a small part of the awful views from that blog (supposedly feminist and lesbian), interestingly, attitudes about LOK and korrasami were mostly positive or at least neutral in 2014-2015, and then abruptly changed sometime in the middle of last year which coincides with LOK finally being on Netflix, I will probably respond to if I am in the mood for a toxic discussion...
Anonymous asked:
“I think it's a bit hypocritical that you hate Korra's personality and not Zuko's.Zuko is arrogant asshole bitch and you like him. I never see you criticizing him like you do with Korra”
“Zuko is an arrogant asshole bitch, but he’s not annoying. Korra is an arrogant asshole bitch and is very annoying. Hope this helps!”
#asks#anti lok#going to absolutely BLOW YOUR MIND to find out that the quality of the media itself determines how much I like a character#as well as the quality of the characters development#also this isn't math there is no transitive property for liking characters#some hit and some don't#get over it#Anonymous
Anonymous asked:
“As soon as I heard “I’m the Avatar; you’ve gotta deal with it!” I knew I would fucking hate that show. I naturally hate people who are like that. If Bryke was still smart they would have thought to make Korra’s personality more like water similar to Aang with air, not “haha fuck you, I’m avatar haha!”
“LOL YEP like 3 seconds into the show you hear that, and understand EXACTLY what the rest of LOK is going to be like. Not only is a jarring contrast to Aang and every other Avatar we’ve seen, it directly contradicts everything we know about the Avatar cycle from ATLA. All the other Avatars have to be TOLD that they are the Avatar, and have to work hard to master their non-native elements. Korra just naturally being able to bend 3 elements when she’s like 5 tells you everything you need to know about how the creators of LOK went about making their show: worldbuilding and logic don’t matter, it’s all about flashy visuals and one-time gags.”

Not only was her character very unlikeable, but the way fandom reared up to defend this (quite frankly) terrible character under the guise of “wokeness” when it is clear that the creators sprinkled in just enough ~representation~ to get brownie points without actually saying anything meaningful is just EMBARRASSING. Korra defenders are being manipulated by those cishet white men they hate so much, and they do it gladly. Anyway, I find Korra boring, disrespectful, and underdeveloped.”

She doesn’t actually get to LEARN from any mistakes that she makes, she’s just forced to recover from these external traumas that have literally nothing to do with her.
Ugh, tbh I feel NOTHING for korrasami. Korra and Asami don’t speak about anything except Mako for most of the show, and only really start actually TALKING to each other in the last half of season 4. None of Korra’s friends really spend that much time together throughout the runtime of the show tbh.
But yeah, it’s frustrating that people tout LOK as this amazing show staring a queer WOC, but the people making the show HATED Korra and HATED developing her in a meaningful way.”

if ur looking for an actual well-written canon wlw pairing in the atla verse, there’s rangshi. fc yee works so hard to fix all of bryke’s garbage, bless his soul. i have no hope for anything avatar studios related, but if fc yee is in the writer’s room, then there may be a very marginal chance that the stuff coming out is at least somewhat worthy of being associated with atla. the worldbuilding that he’s done in rise of kyoshi is insane.
I have heard good things about the Kyoshi novels! Unfortunately, LOK is the drop of shit that has poisoned the entire water supply. All ATLA-related works are going to have to be LOK compliant now, which is so deeply restrictive and contradictory to what I liked about ATLA in the first place. I feel like pre-canon stuff is safer (and again, heard AMAZING things about what FC Yee has done with a pre-ATLA world), but I guess I’m too cynical to get really invested in any more ATLA stuff anymore.
#asks#atla#anti lok#put Nat in charge of Avatar Studios and THEN we'll talk#finally get the thotty aang and amazing worldbuilding THAT WE DESERVE#Anonymous

okay guys so hear me out here
so i think we can all agree that 3/4 villains in lok were actually pretty good (*glares at unavaatu*) but the red lotus stands out from the others in a sense they were just that good
zaheer showed how air bending could be used in a negative way (yeah something about sucking the o2 outta someone’s body seems pretty negative to me but hey) p’li was an interesting character with her special abilities (and her and zaheer were kinda cute) ghazan was the first non-avatar lavabender and ming-hua had no arms but still was a badass water bender. they were all competent people who had a story to tell and demanded people listen.
but what if they were the only villain lok had?
korra was interesting because unlike atla, it switched it up with a new villain every season. but out of the four, the red lotus could have been the main villain for all four seasons (or at least 3 out of 4, kuvira i’ll get to in a minute) but the red lotus had a backstory that was hinted at a few times throughout their season, like how did zaheer get locked up in that high security prison if he wasn’t even a bender then? or how were sokka and suki included in the backstory? it would have been kind of cool to see more of them, where they could develop as a evil team and still give team avatar the development they had in the series
there could have been whole new aspects of the show: “what if” episodes where korra was captured by the red lotus and carried out their plot, or mako and bolin stayed on the streets their whole lives and got picked up by the red lotus. asami’s father could have joined them but some aspects could have stayed the same, like pro-bending and development etc etc
i mean, a lot of the things that happens in s1-2 could have been done by the red lotus with a little explanation and proper timing. the s3 finale could still be the r badass fight where zaheer and the others finally capture korra and administer the poison and she fights them off but has to struggle with ptsd and flashbacks.
kuvira could still serve her purpose and try to rise up and rebuild the world after the red lotus is defeated and s4 would remain largely the same.
i mean this is all the result of me not paying attention in math today, but what do you guys think?

Scent. a Haikyu!! Fanfiction pt.06
[want to read all chapters right now? Our fanfictions get updated every monday on our blog, click here to continue reading!]
Class was about to start and my eyes were trained on the door.
My feet slowly tapped a steady rhythm while my hands twiddled with my pen.
This class was a lot smaller than most others and more like a seminar than a lecture. The room only had enough places for about thirty people and most of the time not every person showed up.
I opened my notebook and started filling in the date and looked at the reading for this lesson. Even though I went over it yesterday, the material was a lot more cryptic than I thought.
My eyes stayed on the paper until I heard the squeaking sound of shoes shuffling into the room.
Here we go.
The figure wore an oversized lack hoodie and grey jeans with her signature black boots.
I waved a little as she looked up and she smiled as her pace quickened like my pulse.
I buried the feeling as quickly as possible and pulled the chair back a little as she arrived.
“Good morning Iwaizumi”, she chimed and I smiled back a little.
“Morning”, I rested my head on my hand as I watched her shuffle through her bag and get ready for class.
Her stacks of paper were a mess and she grunted while searching for something specific.
“Oh my god”, she sighed into her hand and she closed her eyes.
I scooted over to her a little in worry and asked what was wrong.
She smiled again but this time a bit distant as she shook her head.
“I forgot to print out the reading, I did it on my phone this morning”, she dipped to the side to get her phone presumably.
“Wait-”, she shot up and looked at me with a question in her eyes.
I shoved the stack of paper in front of me to the middle of the table so she could look at it as well.
“Oh. Thanks!”, she smiled again and immediately drowned herself into the text.
“No worries”, I mumbled.
This wasn’t the first time she forgot her reading, I knew that she did whenever she got out her laptop instead or squeezed her eyes shut to decipher the text on her phone.
It was the first time she smiled at me and accepted the help instead of awkwardly averting her gaze and taking her phone anyways.
She took out her notebook now and started to quickly jot down words and sentences with a black pen.
The words had something to do with the text I was sure, but there was no structure or proper order to it.
My eyes trailed to her hands that touched parts of the text and then her notes as she worked her way through the text.
I stopped dead in my tracks when our eyes met suddenly, and I looked back to the paper with a probably creepy smile.
When I looked back, she kept eyeing me herself and tried not to smile.
She was less aloof today.
“Did you find the reading hard this week?” I tried to start the conversation and my hand gripped my thigh in suspense.
She hummed in response and leaned back a little in her chair.
“It wasn’t hard more than it was vague”, she mumbled.
She found it vague?
“What do you mean?”, I prompted her and she turned around to me with a serious look on her face.
“It was way too boring I mean”, she concluded with a slight smile and her eyes darted to the side quickly, which felt to me like she was anxious about her joke.
My belly made a flip and I chuckled, which in turn made her smile genuinely and it made me think for a second too long.
“Iwaizumi?”
“Uh, ye-yeah! I found everything pretty cryptic too. I like having practical answers to things”.
She relaxed and went back to her notebook.
“Well, in social and language studies that’s most of the material”, she jotted down a last word before dramatically letting the pen fall on the table, “this is just a class for your minor right?”
How did she know? I mean we do talk a lot in class but we haven’t been talking about my studies have we?
Or did she remember that from our introductions in class?
“Yeah, I actually major in architecture”, I replied.
She made a face of disgust and I looked at her confused.
“Math”, she grimaced and I smiled.
I wasn’t sure if she was just playing around more than usual or opening up to me, but I liked that her reactions were so natural.
She was kind of reclusive which bugged me, but it was a change of pace from my normally very loud classes thanks to Oikawa and the others.
“You don’t like math?”, I asked with a curious smile and she shook her head fiercely.
“I stay far away from it! But people who are good in stem fields amaze me!”
I gulped and my scent flared out at the disguised compliment.
That’s a compliment right?
Was it?
Before I could say anything the professor walked in with a greeting and Asami pulled out a small bottle with a retractable straw.
She started sipping on it as I turned my head back to the front where the professor told us to look at the reading in pairs of our choice.
I looked at her again and she caught my gaze with the straw in her mouth.
“Wanna be partners?”, I promoted and she nodded with a smile in her eyes.

Calculators and Key Changes
Summary: Kazami blew into Republic City High like a hurricane. The students loved her, she changed how the arts program was run and rose it out of the ashes. She got along with most all of the staff, that is, except for one.
Lin would give her props for saving the arts program, but that’s as far as it went. The failed opera singer was obviously looking for what she’d see as an “easy” gig to get her back in the papers and then abandon her students. And she wasn’t going to offer praise for a one trick pony.
But when things shift, when there’s an understanding, can their students push the two titans of the school together to find their own happiness?
A/N: This is a completely self indulgent high school AU. I tried to write it in second person POV, but it didn’t flow well so it is third person with it being Lin x OC. Many props go to @kuvirasbrat for helping me get this shaped though <3
Tumblr media
Word count: 1976
Pulling into the school’s parking lot, the sun had just started to rise and the soft glow was caught in the windows in the early autumn light. Bright blue eyes took in the colors as she pulled into the school parking lot and settled her car into her normal parking spot near her choir room. Turning the car off, Kazumi Ikeda sat in her car for a moment and sipped her vanilla chai latte a little bit longer.
She loved her early morning ensemble kids. The ones who were willing to get up early, go through music reading bootcamp, and audition for this class. The ones who not only enjoyed the music, but felt it through their being.
With a sigh, she opened her car door and grabbed her bag. Setting her latte on top of the car for a second, she reached in and grabbed a second bag with her materials for her music theory and history classes later on that day. Shouldering it, she grabbed her latte again before making her way into the school.
The start of a new year was always fun, at least it was after the first week. Waving to some of the other teachers that had sold their souls for early morning advanced groups, she slipped into her classroom and into her office. Switching the light on, she dropped her bag full of her materials on her desk and her purse into a drawer. Bringing her keys with her, she tossed them on the piano as she went over the music they’d be starting today.
At least these copies didn’t have fucking equations hiding what key it was in.
When Kazumi had started at Republic City High after a successful career in opera, the one person in the school that seemed to want to see her fall on her face was Lin Beifong. When she’d started, the woman made damn sure she knew what she thought of her. Barbs were sniped on both sides from that day forward. Barbs turned into more though when Lin made it almost impossible for some of her students to leave for competitions that they were needed on.
And she wasn’t about to let that go by unnoticed.
Finding out Lin liked to be in school just as early as she did, she kept her doors opened for practice, pressing keys harder than they needed to be so that the piano music would disturb the woman in whatever she was doing.
Lin retaliated in stealing things she needed for her other class. The projector was never there when she needed, she never got to show movies unless it was on the older tvs.
Kazumi didn’t take equipment, she understood what Lin’s job was and what was needed, instead she gathered the help of her students. Band kids offering their drum lines for a song that just had to have them. Sopranos doing what they did best and rang out louder than they needed to.
The next time she’d changed her music for her students, she found her music coded in math equations which meant she had to solve them in order to figure out the key signature. Which meant going in search of a different math teacher to help her solve it properly since of course Beifong was a genius in overly complicated mathematics.
Two years had passed and by now it was school tradition. You either sided with Beifong or Ikeda. Students offered ways for the women to get back at each other. Competitive sides fought over top marks in it. Anything from fundraisers, pep rallies, games, it all became a competition for which teacher would have the top group or would bring out the most from them.
This year though, Kazumi found herself over the idea of this silly thing. Over the summer, she’d lost a dear friend in a terrible accident and the competition suddenly seemed so trivial.
She doubted Lin would cooperate but maybe she could at least pull some of the stick that seemed to be shoved up the other’s arse out.
Shaking her head, Kazumi made sure the side braid she’d fashioned that morning was still in place before going to open the door to her classroom. Smiling when she saw Asami standing outside the door, she motioned in the young woman before setting the door hold in place.
“Good morning, Miss Sato. Did you have a good weekend?” Kazumi asked, following her back into the room.
“Yeah, I mostly got to work with the new engineering teacher on an after school group that will start up hopefully this week.” Asami answered, setting her bag near the risers before moving to grab her music folder.
“That’s great, Asami! You’ve been working on that for about six months haven’t you?” Kazumi asked, moving to sit at the piano to plunk out a tune.
“Yeah, I’m really hoping that others will be interested so that the school let’s it stay.” Asami answered walking over to the piano.
“Well if I can do anything let me know.” Kazumi answered, reaching for her coffee with one hand to sip on.
As the other kids started to file in, she greeted each one in kind. For the ones that were returning, she knew details of their lives. Their siblings, relationship with parents, their hopes and aspirations, little things as well like their favorite shows or what they were up to outside of school.
It was why the kids always seemed to connect to her.
“Ms. Ikeda?” One of the kids called out, pulling her out of her thoughts.
“Huh? Oh! Sorry guys, let’s get started.” Kazumi announced starting into the familiar tunes of their warm ups. One blue eye caught the open door though and she paused. An olive branch. “Bolin, will you shut the door for me, please?”
Eyes went wide at the request but the boy stumbled over himself to pull the door closed. Poking his head out as he did so, he offered Beifong a wave before pulling the doors closed and shutting in the music.
An eyebrow went up seeing Bolin pulling the door shut. That was new. Normally Kazumi made it a point to leave the door open. Leave it so that the voices of their shared students filled the hallways. Way too damn early if you asked her. Especially the sopranos.
She was sure her forehead had become permanently imprinted with things such as her stapler or paper clips from the times she’d beat her head into her desk at the incessant noise.
But now the hallways were quiet. The voices were muffled, not flowing through, leaving the halls quiet and stagnant. The rest of the student population wouldn’t be here for another hour or so yet, and now all of a sudden, Lin found herself almost missing the sound of music in the hallways.
Not that she’d ever tell her that.
Draping her jacket over the back of her chair, Lin shook out the silk black blouse, making sure the cuffs were setting properly on her wrists. The charcoal grey slacks coming to a tapered cuff just above her ankles to reveal the small heel she wore. Steel grey hair pulled back into a bun, and makeup light and never more than needed.
Precise, angled, and too put together.
Reaching her her coffee, Lin sipped it quietly. Bitter in her mouth, the dark liquid was the opposite of what the choir director drank. Black, with only minimal sugar allowed in. Maybe she’d been a little harsh on the other woman. She’d been an accomplished opera singer from what she’d heard, something happened though and now here she was teaching. It felt like the story where she’d gotten a bad review and tucked tail to run.
Whatever the case, maybe the closed choir room door was a peace offering of some kind, and while Lin highly doubted they’d be friends, being civil did have certain appeals.
*********
Lunch time in high school was always a fascinating set of traditions. Friend circles grew, they shrunk, they included people Kazumi would never expect. They were fascinating. However, they were only as fascinating as that when she didn’t forget her granola bar sitting on her dining room table. Like she had that morning. Her lunch wasn’t for another couple of hours. This was fine.
Wandering between the tables, she waved at those that called out their greeting and paused when she heard others call her over for questions.
“Hey, Ms. Ikeda?” A student called out to her.
“Hey Ayama, what’s up?” Kazumi asked, walking over to her table.
“You studied literature for a while, right? I’m taking Mr. Kogarashi’s history of religion class and this text is so....empty of anything that I can’t figure it out.” Ayama answered, looking up hopefully.
“Ahh, I’ve heard rumors of his class. He does seem like one to assign those. Here, let me see the passage.” Kazumi answered and reached for the text. Tenzin really did pick the worst things for kids to read for class, no wonder the kids skipped.
It was perched on one of the tables going over a reading section with one of their students that Lin found her. Part of her dark brown hair in a side braid leaving the rest to fall around her shoulders. Elbows resting on her knees, the sun catching her toffee colored skin and showed off the warm undertones, catching the blue of her eyes that were lost in the book. While she wore tailored jeans and the sleeveless linen blouse that was tucked under a deep red cardigan jacket.
Wait, since when did she notice these things?
Shaking her head, she walked over to her normal spot, listening to Kazumi point out different imagery points and where she could connect them to the historic points that Tenzin deemed more important than others. A gentle hand on the students shoulders, and she was easing herself off the table.
Heeled boots guided Kazumi over to Lin, offering her a tentative smile as she came to stand with her. “Lin.”
“Kazumi.”
“You hear about the updates for the library?”
“Yeah, they have a new section for practical mathematics. Maybe the kids will see it’s used everyday.” Lin shrugged, her arms folded across her chest. Looking over, she noticed that the other woman didn’t have the normal granola bar that she’d eat during this time. “Don’t you usually have a bar or something?”
“Huh? Oh. Normally yes, but it’s currently making use of itself on my dining room table.” Kazumi shrugged, eyes straying over to the normal trouble makers. “I’ll be fine though.”
“You have the later lunch.” Lin pointed out, raising her brow. “You’ll be miserable by then.”
“I’ll be fine. Really.” Kazumi answered, confused as to why Lin seemed to make such a big deal out of it when they were barely speaking.
Sighing, Lin broke her granola bar in half and handed one side of it to Kazumi. “Here. I’ll never hear the end of it if I saw you before you pass out from low blood sugar.”
Eyeing the other woman, seafoam blue eyes looked on the other for a long moment before she took it from her. “Thanks.”
*******
The moment hadn’t gone unnoticed by the students who watched with large eyes as Lin passed the choir director part of her granola bar. Nor had the fact they’d been standing and having a civil conversation for more than ten seconds.
“Do you think…”
“I don’t know. She never shares food like that!”
“Are they still talking?”
“It looks like it.”
“Did Ikeda just smile at Beifong?!”
“She definitely did.”
“You know what this means?
“Beikeda finally sails?”
“Definitely. Asami, you get the coffees tomorrow?”
“On it.”
“Gotta start small. But we can do this guys. Let’s pay them back for everything they do.”

i'm usually better about taking care of myself😭 bc i already had to start drinking more water for band and i usually have snacks anyway, plus i can usually tell if i actually might pass out or if i just need slow down but that parade was definitely an oopsie😭 i can only think of like 2 more times where i might have passed out and all the other times i was dehydrated, but i think everybody is used to it by now😭
when me and my brother were younger we would either get along super well or be yelling at each other and there was no in between😭 now it's more neutral😭😭
taking about how i met people is always fun for me because besides being intimidated by literally everybody my first impressions are always interesting😭 it's usually either we were around each other a lot for whatever reason and then one of us said something funny so we're friends or something really weird happened and we just kept talking after😭 like me and the one friend have definitely known each other for 3 or 4 ish years now and we had our first one on one conversation in september😭 we were also talking about elementary and middle school and i made a joke about my elementary school crushes but everybody was embarrassed by theirs😭
my projects are going...😳🥴 another friend has both classes with me and was helping me a bit but it's not that i'm having trouble with the work itself i just actually have to go and do it😭 but we're on break right now so it's easier which is good😎
my favorite is korra but i love bolin a lot too, who are yours so far?
but i accidentally stay up late all the time too😭 it makes sense for me because i'm definitely more of a night person and i already have a weird concept of time, but what usually happens is i'll go "i'm gonna do this and then go to bed" and then something distracts me but i still want to do the first thing and then all of the sudden it's 3😭
i'm good tho! today is christmas eve so me and my mom were going through gifts because i'm impatient and some of them weren't really wrapped so we opened them anyway, i accidentally spilled this bath bomb thing on my floor😭 but i also got one of these plague doctor plushes i always get instagram ads for because me and one of my friends said we'd get them and match😎 but i mostly chilled today
what about you? how are you, did you get to write anything or study? -🍓

Outed
He was there. Alive. For a few seconds Eduardo thought his novio was dead. Right in front of him. Again. Being on the Team was useless. He was still hopeless to save Bart from deadly wounds.
But Kid Flash just phases that pile of rock, as if a wall didn’t fall on him five seconds ago. He was a mess, dirty but breathing. Ed cannot stop himself but kisses him, relieved. He didn’t mind the weird mud taste on his lips as he can feel the warm ones of his querido.
And then he sees the flash. Not a flash like his novio or the Flash himself. But a light flash. A camera flash he understands.
Someone saw them kissing and took a picture. It went viral. Teenagers are so pleased to see superheroes can be gay too. Well technically he’s bi but still. They’re a gay couple. The person didn’t think to hurt. They would think it was great and important for people to see other like them. Eduardo doesn’t care that the world knows his superhero persona loves a boy. But he cares as a person as he wasn’t out to people outside the Outsiders. Ironically.
Wendy sends him a text saying she’s so happy for him, with a lot of exclamation marks and an emoji with heart eyes. Yep, definitely the supportive little sister he wished for when he was younger. Tye calls him the next day, telling him he was happy for him and they should go on double date as they do with Jaime and Traci. Ed blushes lightly as he remembers he first questioned his sexuality with Tye but quickly push the feeling away, bury what might come with him. And he buried it even deeper when he started to date Asami. At that time, he had so many things to deal with he didn’t want another one.
But now he has to. He has to deal with the person he was the most afraid to tell his sexuality, his feelings for a boy. He has to go back in the Center one day.
“Hey dude, welcome in the gay club!” Livewire greets him.
“I’m bi Leslie, but thanks.”
“So you’re in the same club than Andy.” As he passes by her, she takes his arm. “If you need to talk about it, to someone who can relate, go talk to her, counselor.” Her smile softens. “And your boyfriend is pretty cute, well you know, for a boy.”
She winks at him and walks away.
He was supporting these kids in their trauma but if feels good that they’re supporting him too. He should have noticed it before. He wanted to be a councelor because he knew the kids can relate to him, but that also means the contrary is possible. If he listens to himself, he sould be on their side in the Center, but helping them means he doesn’t have to think about his own experience.
He exhales. He has to keep going. He soon arrives in front of the office. Too soon for him. He opens the door, the physical and simplest one. Now he has to open himself.
“Papá, soy yo.”
“Eduardo, ¿estás bien?”
“Si, yo... yo estoy bien. ¿Has visto las noticias?”
“Si, Eduardo.”
“Ah. Lo siento...”
When his papá and him have finally a good relationship, without anger, arguments or misunderstanding, he is going to loose all of these. But he can’t choose between his love for Bart and his love for him. He needs them both.
To his surprise, his papá embraces him.
“No te disculpes. Me alegro que estés vivo y estoy orgulloso de ti.”
Ed draws back, surprised.
“Pero... no soy el hijo que querías...”
He wasn’t good at maths, physics or science in general. He ran away, developed super powers. And now he is bisexual and dating a boy. How his papá could be proud of him?
“Has crecido tanto, mijo. Haces un bueno trabajo aqui y... si, tengo miedo ahora que te uniste a los Outsiders, pero todo está bien.”
“Incluso... que soy bisexual? Bart y yo?”
“No me importa, Eduardo. Bart es un buen chico. Y inteligente. ¿Eres... feliz con él?”
Of course his papá would love Bart - who wouldn’t? - and maybe Bart was closer to the son he wished to have... He was kind and clever, a genius at science. Jaime even told him he even built his own timemachine. His papá would turn loco if he knows that. When Jaime asked Bart how he managed to find the theory of time travel, Bart revealed he got inspired by the Zeta technology used by the Team and he salvaged pieces in the Mount Justice ruins. So Bart was pratically a fan of his papá’s work. Genial. Now he fears the two of them would become unstoppable about zeta technology while he, the living Zeta machine, would just stand beside them, not understanding a word. He brushes the thought off. His papá nor Bart ever made him feel stupid when they talk about science in front of him. He is just freaking out.
“Si, por supuesto.”
“Entonces es todo lo que importa, mijo.”
Ed initiates the hug this time, relieved and happy.
Despite being a hero with superpowers, helping kids through their trauma and with their powers and having a boyfriend from the future, his life was finally in order.
“How was it? You know... with your dad.” asks Bart when he arrives at the Center.
“Bien. He wasn’t angry at all. I think when your son has superpowers, nothing can surprise you anymore...”
“Yeah, that puts things in perspective! Oh by the way, Gramps wants to meet your father. What do I say?”
“¿Qué?”
“Yeah, he wanted to know your secret ID so I told him - wasthatbad? - and he connects the dots whith your father and now he wants to meet him because he wants to talk science. Maybe he’s a fan? WhatshouldIdo?”
“I repeat: ¿Qué?”
“We’re moded, right?”
“Ugh... I just hope they will get along thanks to science...”
Now it would not be only his papá and his novio talking about science at a family dinner but the Flash himself too. But if that means the four of them getting alone, he will be fine with that.
“I hope your father will get along with my grandfather, because I’m not sure he’s into babysitting, right?”
And that was sufficient to make Ed laugh again with the picture of their fathers.
----------------
Well, I’m more fluent in English than I am in Spanish so I hope I didn’t make too much mistakes...
With our first explicit rep, I wanted to write something positive. I think Eduardo Senior is a loving dad but sometimes doesn’t know how to show it.
As Ed and his father are Argentineans and not American Spanish speaker, I think they will switch back to their native language whenever they speak to each other, at least alone.
For the @zetaflash-week : Public heroes / Private life or when the two crashed in a big way...
(I know it’s an old piece but I didn’t find idea for today...)
Day 1 ; Day 2 ; Day 3 ; Day 4 ; Day 5; Day 6 ; Day 7

[Korrasami] Theory of Operation
Original Prompt: “Korra getting lessons in engineering so that she understands Asami’s work, and hopefully impress her.”
Notes: For @the-fragile-knight. I can’t figure out how the reply option works on Tumblr, so here you goooo. Shoutout to @anonymousclone for the abstract algebra bits.
[Read on AO3]
Having a genius as the love of your life is pretty great, most of the time. But sometimes Korra wished she could understand what Asami was saying.
“I really think hydropower is the most reliable and cost-efficient energy source available to us right now,” Asami said, as she rolled open her blueprints. “I mean, employing firebenders to power electrical engines is great, but—if you have an automated device that combines the rapid response load-following and balancing capabilities of hydroelectricity generation, as well as its peaking capacity and power quality, plus the accessibility of combustion energy, hydropower can surpass coal power plants in no time.” Asami beamed at Korra. “An invention like that would be a game-changer.”
“Uh-huh,” Korra replied.
Asami blushed. “Sorry, this is boring, isn’t it?”
“No, no, it’s not. Uh, I really like the part about—planting. Powerful planting. That sounds really interesting.”
Korra knew she had said the wrong thing when Asami smiled kindly instead of lighting up in excitement.
“Why don’t we go over what the the president wanted for the Republic City Aquatic Center?” Asami asked.
“Yeah,” Korra said, secretly grateful, because it involved repositioning spirit vines—something Korra understood—instead of this newfangled thing known as engineering
“Why don’t you just try to—I dunno, learn it?” Bolin asked her, when they were getting drinks at Swamp Munches the next day. “Like, pick up a book from the Central Library—”
Korra shot him an irritated look. “I did. But they had all these—letters. Mixed in with weird symbols. And I couldn’t read any of it, even though the librarian swore the book wasn’t written in a foreign language.”
“What about metal benders?”
Korra threw her hands up. “I mean. I asked Chief Beifong if she knew what Asami meant by ‘hydrodynamic stability,’ and she looked at me like I was possessed.”
Which was a legitimate concern, given Korra’s line of work.
“I don’t think metal benders know anything more about this ‘engineering’ than we do,” Korra concluded.
“Huh.” Bolin tapped his chin. “Well then. There’s only one way out of this, isn’t it?”
“What?”
“Consult the only other guy we know who understands this—” he made jazz hands, “—engineering.”
Varrick was massaging Zhu Li’s feet as Korra explained her problem to him that Thursday. As part of their marriage vows, Varrick and Zhu Li had agreed to be each other’s secretaries for equal partitions of a day. It was a weird arrangement, but considering their relationship before their marriage, Korra supposed she could understand. She didn’t get how the foot massages came into the picture, though.
“Interesting proposal!” Varrick declared when he wiped his fingers of massage oil. “Teaching the Avatar the foundations of engineering? This is a challenge I like! Zhu Li, I need—”
Zhu Li coughed and held up a pocket watch. “Twenty-two more minutes.”
“Right!” Varrick agreed, with the same amount of enthusiasm as before. He turned to Korra. “Well, before we began—what’s your math background? I don’t need any of those proof-based stuff—partial order differentiation and vector analysis are good enough for the basics.” He frowned and crossed his arms. “Though the Southern Water Tribe is known for their theoretical mathematicians. So, don’t worry if what I’m asking seems too simple! We’ll get to the hard part soon!”
Korra blinked at him. “I—I can do fractions pretty well?”
Varrick’s expression didn’t change, but he paused for a second too long. “Well! This is even more of a challenge than I thought.” His lips split into a grin. “I like it!”
They spent the first two weeks teaching Korra algebra. Korra hated it. She had too many questions. And the way Varrick was teaching her just made her more confused than ever. Why did numbers have to be represented by letters? Why couldn’t they just subtract 15 from 55 instead of writing x + 15 = 55? And why did Xiaoming have to buy 55 apples at the grocery store anyway?
“It’s not working,” Korra told him, flatly, when they tried to move on to algebraic multiplication. It didn’t help that Varrick would sometimes jump to things that Korra definitely knew had nothing to do with engineering, like telling her how she should be excited about what she was learning right now because really, algebra was so much more—it was an abstraction of the real world, and if she learned to perceive them in the forms of groups and rings and quotient fields, separating algebra from the axiomatic assumptions of its elementary form, she would open herself from understanding that parallel lines had the same slope to understanding that the symmetric group of eight elements was the square preserving transformations of a square—
By the end of the second week, Korra could tell that Varrick was beginning to lose his confidence, but trying to hide it by shouting more loudly and with more punctuation. Korra came to the conclusion that teaching Korra math was miserable for both of the parties involved.
“Look, I don’t want to learn algebra, alright?” Korra said irritably. “I don’t care about any of it—I just want to know what my girlfriend is talking about when she gushes over ‘fluid dynamics’ and ‘merit order’ and ‘microelectronics.’”
Korra wasn’t going to admit this to anyone, but she sometimes had nightmares about Asami breaking up with her for a really smart robot.
At this, Varrick’s ears perked. “You mean you just want an empirical overview and practical demonstrations of a field of study that is set to take over the world in the next century—with none of the theoretical foundations?”
“Uh. Yeah? I guess?”
“Well why didn’t you say so?” Varrick jumped up from where he had lied, curled up, on the ground. “Zhu Li, give me—”
Zhu Li coughed daintily again and held up her watch. “Fifteen more minutes.” She glanced at Varrick. “And I asked for a lemonade half an hour ago.”
“Forgive me, I get carried away sometimes,” Varrick said, leaning over to kiss her on the cheek. Zhu Li smiled. To Korra, he said, “I’ll have a whole new syllabus ready in an hour!” before stalking away.
A month later, Korra and Asami went to oversee the hydroelectric generator system in the new aquatic center. The center was built right next to a river to source in water, and the turbines would generate extra electricity for the city on the side. Looking at the turbines, Korra had to admit that they were pretty cool: circular, each ten yards in diameter, covered in a snail-like shell. Beneath each shell was a ring of blades spread out like flower petals.
“I can’t believe you designed all of this,” Korra said, after she jumped down from the top of one of the generators, giving the frightened inspector a break.
“I really didn’t,” Asami said. “All I did was modify the penstock and some of the interior engineering. It’s really just so the turbine can take in water with relatively low pressure but, like, hopefully generate the same level of voltage as you can for a dam—” She paused abruptly, blushing. “But that’s not important. I mean—”
“But how did you do it when there is basically no potential energy to turn into electricity?” Korra asked, genuinely curious.
Asami lit up. “Actually, I modified the rotor with a reactor core so that it spins at a higher angular velocity to induct more mechanical energy into the magnet! And I also was able to modify the properties of the copper coil in the electromagnet so that resistance becomes malleable and is actually exponentially dependent on the water pressure. So the slower the water moves, the more electricity you get.”
“That’s amazing!” Korra said, holding Asami by the shoulders. “I mean, with this you can bring electricity into the central Earth Kingdom as long as they have a tiny little stream going on—”
“Yeah, that’s the idea.” Asami’s eyes were shining. “I got permission from the president to test the technology here—to measure the energy conversion efficiency. If it exceeds maintenance costs and things like that, Prince Wu should be able to convince the Earth Kingdom prime minister to distribute it throughout the kingdom.”
“Bringing electricity to people who couldn’t afford it before,” Korra said, breathless. “I’m sorry I didn’t know about this sooner.”
Asami shrugged, still blushing. “It’s still in its prototype stage. I didn’t want to say anything until it’s efficient enough to justify the costs. Otherwise it’s just a really expensive gadget that can’t really act as a substitute for the current system—so, useless.” She looked at Korra. “Where’d you get all that physics knowledge all of a sudden?”
“Oh, that.” Now it was Korra’s turn to blush. “Um. Well. I wanted to learn more about what you’re doing, since you always took the time to learn what I’m up to—so I asked Varrick to teach me.”
Asami laughed. “Oh, Korra, that’s—that’s so sweet of you.” She hugged Korra. “Thank you. But how did you—well, stand learning from Varrick?”
Korra thought back to the massive volumes of technical manuals, diagrams, journals, and practical hands-on experiments that Varrick had crammed into their little classes over the past month. Not to mention the weird tangents he still went on in his lectures. And the problem sets.
“Oh,” Korra said, light. “Well. I do my best.”
Asami laughed.
“You know, at first I really just wanted to impress you,” Korra admitted. “But I feel like the more I learn, the more impressive you become.”
Asami cupped her cheek. “Weird. Because I feel the same about you,” she said.
Korra felt her heart warm at that.
“I’d still like to learn more,” Korra said, “but I also feel like I’m stealing Varrick away from Zhu Li all the time.”
“I can tutor you.”
“Really?”
“Of course,” Asami said, grinning. “I already have ideas for all sorts of homework problems. And we can have projects! And midterms! It’d be just like university.”
Korra groaned and let her forehead fall forward, touching Asami’s. “What have I gotten myself into?”
“You love me for it,” Asami said.
“I do.” Korra kissed her on the cheek.
And she really did. Making Asami happy was worth all the studying in the world.

durch die Blume
a little Korrasami schmaltz for Valentine’s Day, taking place in The Everthere , between chapters 9 and 10 🌹/ ao3
The wind battered the filmy pink petals and Asami held the bouquet in two tight hands with a feeling that skirted uncertainty, like a child clutching a toy before her, even a weekend into twenty-three.
She wasn’t going to walk in and hand these to Korra. That’s not what this was, and so what if it looked like that?
That’s not what it was. And the luxury to imagine for a second that it was didn’t change that.
It was bitterly cold this evening. Her breath misted the air as she fumbled for her keys. The door clicked open, streaking with small droplets when the heated air of home hit it. Naga bounded forward as if compelled by the cool burst, stopping just before the threshold and waiting for Asami to push past her.
Asami balanced the flowers in the crook of one arm and knelt instead. Naga could enjoy the fresh air a minute longer.
“Hi. Hi, angel.” She scratched Naga’s ear and felt herself begin to smile. Naga found the gap in her coat, where the wide lapels parted, and nuzzled. So sweet. So happy and sweet every evening when she came home; and Asami was a little brighter in turn each time she stepped in. She pressed an absent kiss into her fur.
“Um. What are you doing?”
Asami looked up to find Korra’s amused, rather quizzical smile, where she had frozen at the bottom of the stairs. She shrugged blankly up at her before directing a slight smile down to Naga.
Korra shook her head. “Please come inside. I do not want you catch a cold right after your birthday, and neither does Naga, especially not on Valentine’s Day.“
Asami smirked as she stood. “And why does Naga give a hoot about Valentine’s Day?”
Korra quirked a disappointed brow at her choice of word, because why would her dog hoot, presumably, before walking off.
“Well… Naga does -” she called, from where she had just entered into the kitchen. Asami peeled her coat off, deposited the flowers on the table towards the kitchen door where Korra had disappeared, and sat on the rug on the floor so that Naga could resettle in her arms. “As the love of my life,” continued Korra’s voice, suddenly a little smothered by whatever she had gone in there to put in her mouth (leftover cake, Asami presumed), “…she does enjoy certain privileges.”
She emerged in the doorway, a plate of heart shaped cookies in Naga’s favourite bowl in her hand.
“You know how to make dog treats?” Asami said laughingly. At the words, Naga’s ears perked up against her face, and Asami kissed one where it twitched.
Korra made a face like she was unimpressed that Asami hadn’t deigned to appear sufficiently impressed. Asami pointedly kept her attention on the dog.
“Oh, all these kisses,” Korra said snidely after a second, “it really is her day, isn’t it?”
Why, would you like some?
Asami smiled inwardly, and wryly, at her unspoken retort, which was really at her own expense and not Korra’s, after all.
“If we’re fighting for you dog’s favour, you should really keep in mind that she’d almost certainly take a bullet for you. Trust my math.”
Korra’s tone had shifted when she spoke again; Asami knew they weren’t playing anymore. “I know. But, you know -” she pointed to the front door with her chin, setting the plate down on the table, “she waits whenever you work late.”
That was new information to Asami. And it showed on her face, in her widened eyes.
“Yeah! Since about after Christmas break. I think she just got used to having everyone around twenty four seven. I mean, I told her that you wouldn’t be around forever anyway, one day, whenever we end up moving out -“
Korra always reported on Naga as though she was the either the most precious thing in the world, or every exhausted thing said to her fell on deaf, fluffy ears.
“Then don’t move out,” Asami said, directing her words to the ears in question. And wishing against her own throwaway tone, with an embarrassingly large part of her heart, that Korra might take them to her own.
She didn’t reply, but that was because she had finally noticed the bouquet laid on the table. “Oh, hey! Those are pretty! Wow. Did you… uh, lilies, right?”
She may as well have put the question mark at the end of the question she was actually asking - Korra wasn’t hard to read, never when caught off guard.
“No, they were not, uh, discounted,” Asami bit into the word with a knowing smirk, which Korra returned.
The next step in Korra’s enquiry was obvious, and it hung in the air. It wasn’t Flower Day. The peonies in the vase were only just slightly beginning to die. Asami steeled herself.
“Oh, are they for me, then?”
She was teasing, of course. It might have been nicer if she wasn’t.
Asami shook her head and smiled. “They had a birthday thing at work for me. No shortage of pretty flowers around today, I guess.”
Korra dipped her smile as if to say, “Oh, right.”
Asami had still left them on the table right by her, though. And Korra was still the one to take them, sniff appreciatively, find them a pot and water them.
