One of my biggest cosplay crafting pet peeve is not getting the silhouette and proportions I want. This is why I take photos early in the process so that I can step back and make any the necessary changes. The fitting/tailoring aspect is tedious but I'm always so much happier with the end product.

“That’s rough buddy...” -🔥Zuko🔥

This is one of my favorite pictures, fun fact this cosplay took me 12 hours to make! I spent a day making it and right afterward I did a photoshoot at the park lol. It’s been wore to Indypop con and photo shoots. If you want to see more photos check out my insta!

Finished the chest armor for zuko with the help of a friend. (Positioning fabric to glue on foam is deffo a two person job

There is a little bit of bubbling in the front so I am going to heat up the hot glue again and see if I can fix it, but overall I love it.

Almost done with the cosplay! The last dragon had been embroidered and now the top is done except for sewing the bodice lining to the tail parts lining.

I am currently making a longer tabbard, but that will take like 30 mins. Last thing I have to do is futz with the harness to keep the cape up. It was working fine before but now the cape keeps falling. I think this is because the harness it too loose, so I'm going to tighten it. If that doesn't fix it I can use the magnets to attach the cape to the chest armor instead.

But I hope to have it done on Sunday and on Monday I will do a full costest with the scar and everything!

I’m pretty surprised that I haven’t seen any Appa cosplayers take inspiration from lion dance costumes. I know he’s a sky bison but I always thought he looked like a cute lion dance costume come to life. Here’s just some examples of furry variants.

They can have some very expressive faces with blinking eyes and mouths that open, no batteries needed, and people aren’t secretive about how they make them.

I understand that making a wire head takes specialized skills but cosplayers have made crazier things than this.

CosMeetup Chicago was so much fun this past weekend! I had an absolute blast debuting Toph with @gormasmus as Zuko, Toph has been on my list for ages and she was so much fun to cosplay. It was really heartwarming how many people and kids passing by got excited and stopped us for photos, it made me so happy ☺️
