every year i’m in grad school i’m forced to read foucault. and every year i’ve had to since watching psychopass (which is just this year) i’m now forced to think of makishima and how he like desperately wanted to work into a conversation with kogami that he read focault.

celestial surveillance + some garden of eden parallels
For there is nothing hidden that will not be disclosed, and nothing concealed that will not be known or brought out into the open. - Luke 8:17 (NIV)
Over and over, we see how the bookshop feels safe/private while simultaneously being sort of a fishbowl, leaving its inhabitants quite exposed to onlookers. *garden of eden vibes*
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Similarly, Aziraphale and Crowley tried to conduct a class-A surreptitious 6000+ year agreement/slowburn romance and yet their 25 Lazarii relationship is fairly obvious to others.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Reminiscent of how Crowley is painfully aware that nothing is certain and time is horribly finite, Aziraphale lives with the knowledge that anything he does or says can be used against him—or much worse, used against Crowley or others our little guardian cares about. Unlike his emotional support demon, however, Aziraphale was afraid Before the Beginning, before The Fall.
Tumblr media
While Upstairs aren't the only ones watching, they have the potential to be the most dangerous threat (emphasis on potential bc they have to take an interest and also maybe stumble into important clues): The heavenly office overlooks the entire world. Where Hell had to send Furfur to the theatre with a camera, Heaven's got Earth Observation Files they can pull up to see what someone was doing at any point in history—not even St. James Park can keep you anonymous in the face of thirty-seven classes of scriveners/recording angels!
Aziraphale may tend to underestimate danger in general because of his misplaced hope that Heaven is truly Good, but in the same way that he can be both clever and stupid, I think he trusts Heaven and fears it at the same time. Why else would he be so worried about breaking their rules even when he knows they are wrong?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Of course, Aziraphale is also a courageous little bastard with a deity-defying protective streak! Despite Heaven's indoctrination, we see him navigating all sorts of grey area as he learns to 'blur the edges'. But he knows it isn’t safe to do that openly. He keeps this more human side hidden and tries not to think too hard about why doing good is wrong in heavens eyes. (lol other people's aziraphale metas are my main food group rn)
At the end of S2, we see him leave A.Z. Garden & Co. after tasting the forbidden fruit large oat milk latte, armed with his naïve/misguided 'knowledge of Good and Evil'. (and perhaps he knows he can't 'let the sun can’t go down' on him in Soho lest the the Metatron mete out death instead of coffees?) When Adam and Eve left Eden, Aziraphale and Crowley observed from above. When the angel and demon leave their own garden, we get the sense that they are also being watched.
(also idk if this is anything but Adam facing off against the lion while Eve looks on in the bg seemed a bit like Crowley watching Aziraphale walk into danger w the Metatron. could be a good sign since the lion gets turned into salami)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There are hints at the end of S2 that the watching is getting a little a spicier (at least I think they are hints haha): the bookshop windows are still broken during the last part of E6, further decreasing privacy; the zombies used binoculars to watch A&C from the Dirty Donkey under cover of darkness in 1941 but the Metatron just looks across the road in the light of day. And then there's the whole 'hefty jigger of almond syrup'.

We localized the names of all the Super Mario Land enemies, too!
Yeah! If you don't remember, a few years ago, we came up with localized names for all the Super Mario Land 2 enemies as a sort of Christmas gift from us to you! But did you know? There's a Super Mario Land 1 also, and very few of its enemies have localized names either...! With another holiday upon us, we're making this the gift that keeps on giving, with a whole new set of clever enemy names just for you! I hope you enjoy!
Tumblr media
Goombo -> Goombie the Shroom Fish
While "Goombo" has always been a fine name, it lacks a certain je ne sais quoi that other localized Goomba relatives like "Galoomba," "Goombrat," and "Goombud" have. With this new name, which is a clever homage to Hootie & the Blowfish, now it should fit right in!
Tumblr media
Bombshell Koopa -> Koopie the Boom Fish
Another enemy that technically has a localized name already, but once again, this fairly boring name lacks the ceci n'est pas une pipe that truly great localized names have. It might seem weird to call a turtle a fish, but when you think about it, all tetrapods are fish, so it's fine!
Tumblr media
Bullet Biff -> Shootie the Bullet Fish
You know the drill by now! A name that lacks Allouette, je te plumerai turned much more memorable by one simple yet effective reference! Bullets look kind of like fish, you know!
Since we've spruced up all the enemies with actual localized names, now it's time to Get Creative! The rest will be under the cut!
Tumblr media
Fly -> Fruity the Fly Fish
While not explicitly a fruit fly, we figured that for the sake of the homage, this name gets the job done. And don't worry, I checked. He's allowed to reclaim it.
Tumblr media
Bunbun -> Stabyoutie the Bee Fish
The Japanese name is an onomatopoeia for the sound a bee makes, but because we couldn't think of an English equivalent, we decided to name it after what it does instead. Watch out! It's gonna stab you!
Tumblr media
Gao -> Mewtie the Lion Fish
"Mew" is a common onomatopoeia for a cat, which fits Gao pretty nicely, given a lion is a type of Big Cat! Of course, to remind people this is a lion rather than your typical housecat, we've appended it with "the Lion Fish" for good measure.
Tumblr media
King Totomesu -> Roary the Zebra Turkeyfish
I'm pretty sure one of my siblings once had a plush lion named "Roary the Lion" so I've decided to rename King Totomesu in their honor. And see what we did with the descriptor, eh? Eh? Pretty clever, huh?
Tumblr media
Honen -> Hootie the Bone Fish again
Yeah, I know we used "Hootie the Bone Fish" for Honebon during our Super Mario Land 2 project, but can you blame us for the repeat? It's a good name! And since none of these names are official, either one can have it. I don't mind.
Tumblr media
Yurarin Boo -> Hottie the Blow Fish
Yurarin Boo is a seahorse that blows fire at you, and you may not know this, but fire is Hot! I know it's a seahorse and not a pufferfish, but since it's a fish that blows fire, I figured "Blow Fish" would be a good pun still.
Tumblr media
Mekabon -> Rebootie the Bot Fish
As an enemy in the Muda Kingdom (the game's signature water world!) with a fish-eyed stare and arms that look more like flippers than anything else, this enemy's fishy appearance was not lost on us, and we figured we should reflect that in its name.
Tumblr media
Torion -> The Blue Fish
I know I said some of the already localized names lacked omelette du fromage or whatever, but some enemies really do just deserve a name that's simple, straight, and to the point. Torion is one such enemy.
Tumblr media
Yurarin -> Nottie the No Fish
As a relative of Hottie the Blow Fish without the ability to blow fire, we decided to give it a similar name, but this time specify it can't really do anything special at all. Serves as a nice parallel to the Yurarin/Yurarin Boo naming convention, huh?
Tumblr media
Gunion -> Octootie the Blue-Ringed Fish
"Oh, those rings are clearly yellow!" I hear you say, but consider: Super Mario Land was in black and white. Or. Dark green and lighter green. Maybe the official art made a coloring mistake, huh? Huh??? Some people would object to me calling it a Fish also, but at this point it's been well-established that every sea creature is some kind of fish.
Tumblr media
Tamao -> Tammy the Jelly Fish
See what I mean? The English instruction manual called this thing a jellyfish, and I'm sticking by it!
Tumblr media
Dragonzamasu -> Haughty the Boss Fish
As the boss version of Hottie the Blow Fish, I figured to give it a name that parallel's Hottie's as well! As a boss, you'd expect it to be pretty haughty, huh?
Tumblr media
Bataon -> idk man give me a break the Flying Fish
this is really hard you guys
Tumblr media
Ganchan -> Cheeky the Stone Fish
What a Cheeky fellow we have here! I think it's fun they decided to give this rolling rock a personality with eyes and cheeks, and we've decided to emphasize that with the name we came up with for it!
Tumblr media
Tokotoko -> Scooty the Dude Fish
Tokotoko looks like it's running very fast, but it doesn't even have legs, so it kinda just. Scoots all over the place. And I'd be foolish not to call this guy a Dude, what with the Cool Cool Glasses! And since Batadon is a Fish, Scooty shall be too. Simple as that!
Tumblr media
Suu -> Suutie the Arachno-Fish
Decided to stay pretty faithful to the Japanese name with this one, but I figured a clever reference to Hootie & the Blowfish would make it more relatable to the American youth of today.
Tumblr media
Kumo -> Kumootie the Arachno-Fish
oh man do i really have to name two separate spiders in a row
Tumblr media
Hiyoihoi -> Brutie the Rude Fish
Hiyoihoi has always had sort of "cool delinquent" vibes to me, hence calling him rude, and as a boss, you gotta assume he's a bit of a brute. The name also rhymes with "Scooty the Dude Fish," which this is the boss version of!
Tumblr media
Pionpi -> Spooky the Boo Fish
This frightening fishy fiend is sure to give you the heebie-jeebies!
Tumblr media
Pompon Flower -> Rootie the Grow Fish
Plants are pretty well known for having roots and growing, and thanks to Hootie the Blue Fish helping us learn that plants can, indeed, be considered fish, that makes every part of this name legally Clever!
Tumblr media
Nyololin -> Spewtie the Blow Fish
Look, I know this is the second enemy that we've named "the Blow Fish," but it blows poison at you, and on that note, it is poison like a real blowfish! It all comes together flawlessly!
Tumblr media
Chicken -> Tweetie the Crow Fish
Yeah, I know we technically changing its species, but it looks nothing like a chicken! Can you blame us? And the Mario franchise has a long-running tradition of connecting birds and fish (see Cheep Cheep!) so calling it not just a "crow," but a "crow fish" makes it fit in better.
Tumblr media
Roketon -> Grutie the Banana Fish
minion joke
Tumblr media
Chikako -> Floatie the Glow Fish
Hi the Mod formerly known as Mod Chikako! I hope you like your new legal name going forwards...!
Tumblr media
Pipe Fist -> Punchyoutie the Pipe Fist
This one may seem like we're grasping at straws, but being a big hand, I think Punchyoutie the Pipe Fist can grasp straws very easily, thank you very much.
Tumblr media
Biokinton -> Cumulootie the Atmosphish
This one's self-explanatory.
And last, but certainly not least...
Tumblr media
Tatanga -> Evil Mario
That's it for Super Mario Land! "Like" and "Subscribe" and "Hit the Bell for Notifications" if you want to see us localize the names of every enemy in Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3!

Quick question for you cuz you seem to know very well the little guy
Do you think Mickey has any bad sides? Bad qualities/Habits
Ooh! I was hoping someone would ask this question. It was sitting in my mind for a while. I love sharing my thoughts on this little guy.
I do think it is important to remember that when it comes to characters like Mickey it can be challenging to ascribe specific traits to him since there are so many interpretations with differing personalities. Mickey in the black and white shorts is different from Mickey in the Gottfredson comics who is different from Mickey in the Paul Rudish shorts and etc. So some traits may fit better for some versions than others.
I don't know if I can say I am the Mickey expert. But I do think about him a lot and if I came up a list of what I think are bad habits or flaws that he has, based on how is generally portrayed and my own personal interpretation, I would say:
Stubborn - To start off, I feel like a common flaw for Mickey is his stubbornness. Once he sets his mind on a certain idea or situation, he has a hard time being convinced of anything else. It can be really difficult to change his mind, though not impossible. I don't think it comes from a place of seeing himself as better than anyone though, but rather from his desire to hold fast to what he believes in. And in some cases, it can have beneficial results. Such as when he is investigating some kind of mystery he tends to drop everything else, unable to change focus until he finally solves it. This usually gives him the push to solve problems most people give up on. But unfortunately, it tends to result in him ignoring the world around him which can be frustrating at times, especially for Minnie. Sometimes I think Mickey even uses these situations as an excuse to push aside things he doesn't want to do and focus on something he would much rather do.
Untamed Curiosity - I feel like this is actually an offshoot of his earlier personality. He was much more mischievous in his earlier appearances, but that was somewhat tamed over the years. However, I do think one element that has remained is this mouse's curiosity for the unknown. It seems like Mickey can't help himself but stick his nose into things he probably shouldn't. Whether it is listening to a conversation, checking a locked room, testing out a weird machine, or even following an odd feeling. I also feel like his stubbornness doesn't really help as it seems like once a curiosity is in his focus, he can't let it go. Mickey rarely likes to cause problems, but if his curiosity overtakes him, he usually ends up being a troublemaker. Sometimes this usually leads to him catching a crook. But other times it results in a big mess that he would have to clean up. I do think though that his mischievousness isn't entirely gone and does pop up every once in a while. Especially when trying to get out of things he finds boring or doesn't want to be in. And sometimes he just wants to be a prankster and have fun with his friends and family. Which is funny until things get out of hand.
Overthinks - Mickey is very intelligent and can come up with pretty clever plans when trying to solve problems. Unfortunately, this comes with the side effect of him overcomplicating even simple situations. This is usually why Goofy is such a vital friend for Mickey. Mickey tends to come up with complex solutions while Goofy tends to show the easier option Mickey tends to overlook. I think part of this does come from Mickey being afraid of being wrong and making mistakes, so he tries his best to be as thorough as he can be, which unfortunately can lead to more mistakes.
Lack of Self-Protection - One positive about Mickey is that he cares about others and would stand up to protect them. But unfortunately, this doesn't always extend to himself. He is not a doormat but tends to lean more "Turn the other Cheek" approach when he is the only one getting bullied (unless things go too far or if others get involved). To be fair, it is important to know when to pick your battles, but this tends to lead into other areas as I feel like he doesn't really share his problems and tends to keep personal issues to himself. I personally see him as the kind of guy you really have to pry to get him to talk about what he is feeling as he would much rather bottle it up to not cause any trouble. I also feel like he rarely is one to ask for help and tends to try and solve it all on his own, especially if he is worried that others may get hurt. The issue is, he doesn't seem to worry about whether he would get hurt.
Takes on Too Much - I also feel like this connects to another flaw as he tends to take on too much and constantly puts himself in risky situations. Whenever a life-threatening situation comes up that could help everyone but is extremely dangerous, he is usually the first in line to do it. It feels like Mickey doesn't even consider his own safety or limitations at all. Sometimes it feels like he is overconfident in his abilities and just believes that he will be okay, which works until it doesn't. It also doesn't help that Mickey has a hard time saying "No", so even if he didn't want to do something or knows he is not capable of doing it, he would probably still do it, not wanting to disappoint anyone. He rarely thinks of himself. And seldom considers what would be best for him. Usually, his friends are the ones to think about his safety and needs.
Need to be Perfect - Though I feel like part of the reason Mickey takes on so much is his need to be the hero. He feels like he has to be a perfect, selfless, and brave role model who does everything without a single complaint. I feel like he overexerts himself because he is afraid of what happens if he doesn't. He is afraid of not being needed or wanted. He is usually the underdog, a small mouse in a world with characters twice his size, and if he isn't constantly proving himself people will leave him behind. I also feel like he has a hard time admitting to mistakes (which connects to his stubbornness) because he feels like he can't make mistakes, or that would show that he isn't as capable as people think. I also think this explains why he has more of a heated rivalry with Mortimer. Mortimer somehow taps into his insecurities in the ways others don't. I feel like Mickey is kind of jealous of Mortimer because he tends to be taken seriously (at first) while Mickey usually needs to earn it. I also kind of wonder if he is worried that if he starts messing up, Minnie and the others will leave him for someone like Mortimer, so he feels like he can't mess up. Ever.
Lack of Self Worth - Unfortunately this means that he is very reliant on others for his self-worth. Luckily Mickey is really good at making friends. But he tends to rely on the existence of his friends for his worth. I can imagine that if for some reason they all stopped existing, I don't think he would even know what to do with himself. While he doesn't need everyone to like him. He does need at least one person to like him to help ground him or I can see him going into a deep depression. I feel like he would really struggle with being alone for too long unless there was some hope of being able to be with his loved ones soon.
But yeah these are the bad qualities that I feel like Mickey generally has. There are probably more, especially ones more specific to certain interpretations, but these are the ones I was able to come up with. As nice as Mickey is, he isn't perfect and his insecurities, overthinking, stubbornness, and curious nature tend to get him in trouble. But fortunately, he is also just as capable of getting out of trouble.
I would honestly love to see other people thoughts on this as well.

ok im not going to tag this but i need you guys to know that my endgame ships for eridan and karkat are
eridan ♦️ karkat
eridan ♥️ roxy
roxy ♦️ calliope
eridan ♠️ calliope
karkat ♥️ calliope
i call it "the polycule only a blood player could love" and although it manages to be perfectly healthy, from the outside, everyone looks like they're cheating on everyone else. nepeta is staring at it going ":33 < dodged a fucking bullet!!!"
Eridan ♦️ Karkat
the ship with the most canon backing. this ship needs to be true before all other ships can be true because it keeps the two of them normal enough to have a shot at romancing anybody else. nobody realized they were pale for each other for an embarrasingly long time because their regular day to day conversations feature slurs and death threats. sometimes looks pitch or flushed from the outside because karkat is a mess who can't stop yelling at people he's trying to romance in the red quads, and because eridan gets really needy sometimes.
Eridan ♥️ Roxy
They get together within five minutes of knowing each other and, despite Rose's protests, never ever break up. Eridan is into cute, pink, bubbly, nice girls, and Roxy is into eccentric troubled princes. Not to mention she fucking loves wizards, and Eridan is a wizard, and that they're both hipsters who use rifles. Also Eridan is weird as hell and Roxy thinks he's hilarious for it. Despite the fact that he puts on this unpleasant, nasty act, he'll pretty much do anything Roxy tells him to, and she likes that. She thinks he has himbo energy. Everyone else thinks she's deranged. Like girl that guy is an insane murderer. Girl he will not stop saying slurs
also their specific abilities are diametrically opposed in an interesting way? prince of hope = can destroy anything he believes he can destroy, rogue of void = can create anything by stealing away its nonexistence. neat!
Roxy ♦️ Calliope
since they aren't trolls and don't need to calm each other down, it's not really a proper moirallegiance, but they're bffffffs and the kinds of silly fun-loving gals who would call their friendship a moirallegiance even if it doesn't have the biological components or serve the social function of one. Two girls that just love each other.
Eridan ♠️ Calliope
biologically, cherubs only engage in pitch romances and are attracted to other cherubs that remind them of the other half they lost in predomination. what i'm saying is that calliope - unfortunately for her - has brother issues. initially put off by eridan's superficial similarities to caliborn - his bluster, his riflekind, his insane logic and thick skull, and how damn often he talks about murder - as they get to know each other, the feeling becomes mutual. eridan is generally totally ok with outright hostility, but calliope's faux-nice smugness when taunting an opponent would drive him nuts, as would the earnestness with which she approaches magic (what kind of POSER needs to RELOAD their WAND), and in general, i think he'd take her genuine well-wishes toward other people as a personal affront, a la "i didn't ever need anybody to look after me!"
they somehow have a 50/50 win ratio at the board games they play, which drives calliope nuts. "believing in your pieces" is not a valid chess strategy!!!!!!!!!
also i think it's fun and thematic, the angel killer and the cherub, whose adult form features hope-shaped wings.
Karkat ♥️ Calliope
We know two things from his crush on terezi: the first is that karkat is into clever, cunning gals, and the second is that he's really fucking messy, the kind of guy who would tell his flushed crush to "set the table on his bone bulge for their candle light hate date." Fortunately, or unfortunately??? for calliope, the fact that he will scream obscenities at her is kind of what she's into. everybody, please, a moment of silence for calliope, who somehow manages to have worse taste in men than roxy.
but yeah more seriously, karkat has a big and loving heart, and so does calliope, while calliope maintains a cleverness and intellect that karkat would be into.
normally, it would be a huge problem for your moirail to be pitch for your matesprit, and we have that both ways here. however, a few factors are mitigating that here. first, eridan will always prioritize karkat or roxy over calliope when they're around. this actually does kind of piss her off, although she feels annoyed that it does. second, calliope is generally mature enough to compartmentalize. third, karkat WILL auspicetize if they aren't careful, and nobody wants that. and fourth, everybody wants to keep roxy happy.
but yeah everyone else watching it is like. are you guys okay? blink if you need help
ofc ship what you want to ship this is not at all me telling you what you should be into. im just saying that these ships have been calculated for Maximum Funnyness, which as we know, is the only objective measure for what makes a good homestuck ship

steddie | rated: teen | 3.7k | angst with a happy ending :)
read on AO3
When the words settle onto his skin on his 18th birthday - Can I sit here? The other tables are full. - Steve is immediately taken back to the first week of middle school.
The day he met Eddie. When his hair was buzzed short and he was brand new to the school and knew no one.
He remembers those words.
He remembers looking up from his lunch and seeing this kid that looked nothing like Steve or any of his friends - dressed in all black, some kind of band logo on his t-shirt. He remembers seeing how timid he was to be asking, remembers saying yes or something to that accord.
He looks at the words and he's sure, he's certain, that the words etched onto his skin are the first words Eddie spoke to him.
Steve can't remember exactly what he said to Eddie in response to these words, just that he let Eddie sit with him and they've been best friends ever since, however unlikely a pair they made.
If Steve's words are on Eddie's skin, however unmemorable they are to Steve, he's sure Eddie would know they're soulmates - he would remember the first words Steve said to him all those years ago just like Steve remembers.
But.
Eddie turned 18 a while ago and he's never once mentioned the words on his skin to Steve.
Steve asked once, a few days after Eddie's birthday and Eddie changed the subject. Steve thought that might mean that he didn't have any words on his skin, because not everyone does.
He's thought about it since then too. If Eddie had gotten his words on his birthday, why would he not mention them? If it was something incredibly generic or even if it was a phrase that made no sense to him, he probably wouldn't have hidden it.
So then Steve had the thought that maybe it was something personal or maybe something embarrassing that Eddie just didn't want to say out loud.
And yeah, they're best friends, but that doesn't mean they have to share everything with each other. If it was something Eddie wanted to keep to himself, who was Steve to try and pry the information out of him? If Eddie wanted him to know, he'd tell him.
But now, looking at the words on his skin, he thinks that maybe there's another reason he never said anything. That maybe it's because he has Steve's words on his skin, but he doesn't want Steve as a soulmate. That maybe he was hoping it was a mistake, that if he ignored it, Steve might not get Eddie's words when he turned 18.
If Eddie has something written on him, he's hidden it from Steve for months. If he has a soul mark, he's hidden it for a reason.
The thoughts running through his head make Steve spiral a little, looking at the words on his skin.
It makes something ache in his chest, thinking about Eddie not wanting him. They've been friends for over five years now. They do everything together. They know each other better than anyone else.
If Eddie has his words on him somewhere and didn't tell Steve because he was that horrified at the thought of being tied to Steve forever, he doesn't know how his heart is going to take it.
As it stands, just thinking about it is making his heart beat a mile a minute, the hurt spreading with every heartbeat.
--
Steve looks at the words on his skin for a long time.
Eddie's handwriting is normally neat and measured, so unlike every facet of Eddie's actual existence.
He thinks about Eddie's room, always messy and cluttered. He thinks of Eddie's hyperactive personality, always needing to fidget, always needing to be doing something.
He thinks about seeing Eddie so focused on writing new lyrics for his band, thinks about looking at Eddie's notebook when he shows him a clever turn of words he came up with, the way his handwriting starts off small and contained, but gets bigger and sloppier the more excited he is.
The words on his skin are sloppy, excited.
But there's a lump in his throat thinking about how if Eddie has his words, he wasn't excited about it.
He doesn't know what he's going to do if Eddie tells him that he has his words on his skin and he doesn't want to be with him.
He woke up this morning with hope blossoming in his chest at the thought of seeing his soulmate's writing, their first words to him, on his body.
And now, he's getting ready for school, going through the motions, dreading what might happen.
It's not like he can miss school - Eddie would just skip school and come find him, regardless of the fact that his many unexcused absences are what got him held back last year. He'd skip anyway, and he'd find Steve no matter where he went.
He knows all of Steve's hideouts, all the places Steve goes when his parents are home and on his case.
He knows everywhere Steve might think to go if he's skipping school on his birthday because he knows Steve. He knows him better than Steve thinks he knows himself most days.
At school, he heads to his locker and doesn't look for Eddie. Sometimes, Eddie hitches a ride with Steve, but on Mondays, Eddie has Hellfire after school, so he drives himself.
Steve's never been as grateful for a Monday as he is now. He doesn't think he could have handled being in a car with Eddie this morning, trapped and with nowhere to go, the big question hanging between them, probably.
Did your mark come? (and maybe in this case, is it me?)
It's what everyone wants to know on someone's 18th birthday.
By the time he makes it to his locker, he's been asked if he got his mark a handful of times.
He makes it to third period before he realizes he hasn't seen Eddie all day.
The feeling of dread is sitting heavy in his stomach. Did Eddie skip school today because he didn't want to deal with Steve's mark at all? If he knows that Steve is his soulmate, this just further cements the fact that Eddie doesn't want him, that Eddie is doing everything he can to get away from Steve.
At lunch, he heads out to his car and sits in the quiet for a while.
He's not going back in there, he realizes, after a while as the clock keeps ticking forward, closer to the end of lunch.
He starts his car and heads up to Lover's Lake.
Because he knows Eddie just as well as Eddie knows him, and he knows exactly where he'd be if he didn't want Steve to find him.
Because as much as it might hurt to know Eddie doesn't want him, he has to hear him say the words. He has to know for sure that Eddie never said anything because he doesn't want Steve.
He has to hear it because anything his mind can make up is probably worse than anything the Eddie he knows would actually say. He'd let him down easy, if it's true that he just doesn't want Steve.
Steve thinks it would hurt the same even if Eddie was cruel about it - if he scoffed at him and said of course he didn't want him versus him gently sitting Steve down and saying as much as he likes being his friend, he just doesn't want him like that.
He parks next to the curb in front of Rick's house, behind Eddie's van, and steels himself. He's going to walk in that house and he might not come out of it the same. He might leave with one less friend. One less best friend.
He doesn't bother knocking because he knows the door will be unlocked. He can hear Eddie and Rick talking in the living room so he follows the voices.
The conversation dies immediately when Eddie catches sight of him. He blanches, like he wasn't expecting Steve to come find him, like he was expecting Steve to just let this go untalked about the way Eddie has for so many months now.
"Steve," Eddie whispers into the painfully awkward silence.
"Eddie," Steve says back. "I think we need to talk, don't you?"
He sees Eddie swallow and glance at the doorway behind him, like he's thinking about making a break for it.
He knows for certain that Eddie's his soulmate now.
Steve tries not to let it show how much that affects him, the thought of Eddie being so fucking unwilling to talk to him about this that he'd rather run from him. He's never run from Steve like this before.
"Please," Steve says softly, his voice desperate and shot.
Eddie nods slowly. He says, "Rick, um. Can you, uh, give us a minute?"
Rick looks between them and says to Eddie, "You know this is my house, right?" but he gets up all the same and heads to the sliding glass door to step outside.
"Steve," Eddie says again.
"You've been hiding from me," he says, stepping closer to the couch.
"It's not that I was, was hiding, per se," Eddie stammers out.
"No?" Steve asks. "So you just skipped school to hang out on Rick's couch today?"
He sits on the opposite end of the couch, a good distance from Eddie. His heart is in his throat and he realizes all of a sudden that he's not going to be okay if Eddie doesn't want him. He thought maybe he could power through this, hear Eddie say he'd rather never see Steve again than be stuck with him as a soulmate or something equally as devastating, but there are tears stinging at the corners of his eyes at the thought.
He doesn't want Eddie to not want him.
He looks away from Eddie, blinks rapidly a couple times to stubbornly keep the tears at bay.
"I don't. I don't know what you want me to say," Eddie says softly.
Steve clears his throat and says, "I want you to tell me why you didn't tell me."
Eddie scoffs and says, "Don't ask me that."
And Steve sits there, feeling defeated, feeling like his heart is splintering because his best friend is shutting him out. Eddie doesn't want him, doesn't want to even talk to him about it.
He can't do anything but stare at him for a moment, the sinking feeling in his chest settling like it's made a home there.
So that's it then.
He won't even talk to him about it.
He gets up, ready to leave because what else is there to say if Eddie can't even bear to say it out loud? If he can't even acknowledge that they're soulmates, can't say out loud why he never told him, it has to be because he realizes anything he says is going to hurt Steve.
Eddie's not malicious. Even if he doesn't want Steve like that, he still probably wouldn't want to hurt him.
Eddie rushes to stand up when Steve turns to leave, the stinging in his eyes getting worse than before.
"Steve, don't- we can just-" Eddie lets out a frustrated breath. "Can't we just go back to how it was before? This doesn't have to change anything."
And those are words that make the tears that Steve's been trying to keep in tip over. He wipes at his eyes, frustrated with himself. He told himself he wouldn't cry about this in front of Eddie, but here he is, tears falling down his face anyway.
Eddie looks panicked all of a sudden, like he didn't expect Steve's tears. Like he thought Steve would just say yes, say sure, we can just pretend we aren't fucking soulmates.
"Steve?" He says his name hesitantly, like he's a startled horse or something, and Steve wants to turn and run, wants to hide from the hurt feeling that's gripping his heart.
But he came here for a reason.
He came here to get the answers that he needs and he doesn't know that he has them yet.
Eddie won't talk about it, but Steve needs him to. Eddie still wants to be his friend and Steve needs to hear him say that there isn't a chance, needs to know that there isn't a hope of a chance that things might change for Eddie one day. Because Steve will wait, is the thing.
Steve would wait forever for him.
If Eddie wants things to go back to normal, to how they were before they knew they were soulmates, Steve would keep being his friend and keep waiting for things to change forever if Eddie doesn't tell him now that he can never feel that way about him.
So he says through his tears, "I need you to tell me the truth. I don't care if you think it'll hurt me. I just need to hear it."
Eddie looks confused. "Why would me telling you how I feel hurt you? That's- Why are you crying? What did I say to make you cry?"
"You don't want to talk about it! You want to pretend this doesn't exist," he says, pulling the hem of his shirt up to expose the writing on his rib cage. "You want us to pretend we aren't soulmates and you didn't think that would hurt me?"
Eddie shakes his head. "You- you don't want this," he insists. He hasn't even asked what Steve wants.
"How could you possibly know what I want when we haven't even talked about it? You hid this from me for months, Eddie! And now you're gonna stand here and act like you know what I want?" Steve scoffs, the tears in his eyes now coming from a place of anger instead of hurt.
"You're not into guys, Steve. And you're certainly not into me. I know that much," Eddie says, still looking at the words etched on Steve's skin.
Steve lowers his shirt. "You didn't even ask me," he says again. He wipes the tears from his eyes and steps forward, closer to Eddie.
Because Eddie said Steve wasn't into him, wasn't into guys. He never said that he wasn't into Steve. He's hanging onto a fucking thread of hope, but Eddie didn't say he didn't want him.
He doesn't know if Eddie's deflecting from the real issue of him not wanting Steve by turning it around on him, but he has to try. He's his soulmate. Of course he has to try.
He stands in front of Eddie, the tips of their shoes touching.
"Show me," he says softly, the words a whisper into the quiet of the room.
He looks at Eddie and sees the fear in his eyes, sees how scared he is. He didn't notice it before, being so far away from him. But up close, he can tell that Eddie is scared.
Scared like Steve is scared.
He just hopes he's getting this right.
Eddie pulls the collar of his shirt down to show the script sitting right on his collarbone.
Oh, yeah, of course! I like your hair!
"You've been hiding this from me," Steve says, running his fingertips over the curve of the letters on Eddie's skin. Eddie shivers under the light touch.
"I thought it might be you, but I wasn't sure," Eddie says back.
"But you wanted it to be," he says, taking the leap. He thinks Eddie wanted it to be him. He hopes he wanted it to be him.
Eddie looks him in the eyes, that fear still gripping him. "I wanted it to be you so fucking bad, Stevie. I thought, when I got my words- I thought that I had wished it true, that I wanted you so badly that I made the universe make it you. And I've been feeling so fucking guilty this entire time because of it."
"Guilty?" he asks, confused.
Eddie nods. "Like I forced it into existence because I wanted it too much."
"I don't think that's how the universe works, Eddie."
"I think it's a special case because you don't even like guys and somehow you got one as a soulmate. Got me as a soulmate." Eddie looks so dejected, so guilty about it that Steve has to set him straight.
"Eddie, we've been soulmates since the moment we met," he says, tearing his eyes away from writing on his chest, the writing that's in Steve's handwriting, tolook into Eddie's eyes. "Even if we never got the mark, you would still be it for me."
Eddie bites his lip, glancing down at Steve's mouth quickly. "Do you mean that?" he asks, still hesitant.
"I mean it. I- we've never really talked about who we're into, and maybe that was a mistake. Because I do like guys. Or- well, I like you. I've liked you for so long," he says, glancing down at Eddie mouth too.
He thinks getting to kiss him would either calm his rapidly beating heart down or send him straight into orbit. Either way, he's going to find out.
"You like me? Me?" Eddie asks, surprised, and Steve swoops in to kiss the incredulity off his tongue.
He presses his mouth to the plush lips in front of him, just a gentle press at first and he feels more than hears Eddie gasp against his lips.
It's-
People talk all the time about how kissing your soulmate is different from kissing just anyone. That it's somehow astronomically different. But Steve's never understood it until now.
Because how can kissing your soulmate feel any different from kissing someone else? Sure, maybe there's different feelings involved, but if you love someone who isn't your soulmate, does that mean kissing them wouldn't be as good?
These were the questions Steve used to think about when he would think about who his future soulmate might be. Back in middle school and early high school.
How could kissing anyone feel that much different?
It's what all the magazines say, all the romance novels and the tv shows and movies too. They all say that it's different, that you'll know for sure, as if there could be any doubt with the first thing they say to you marked on your skin forever.
Steve never thought they could be right, that it was a dramatization of what it really is. That even through the woo-woo soulmate magic or whatever, kissing would still feel like kissing, no matter who you were kissing.
He's never been more glad to be wrong about something.
Because it is different. Somehow, it is.
It's different from kissing Nancy, who Steve was very much in love with.
It's different from kissing any of the girls he's kissed in the past, different from the one very confusing kiss he shared with Tommy Hagan back in sixth grade for "practice".
It's like there's an energy between them, the force that's been trying to pull them together for years finally snapping into place.
Something inside him feels settled. Like for the first time in his life, he feels content. All the background noise - the leaky kitchen faucet Steve has heard since stepping inside the house, the birds outside, the buzz of electricity that Steve can always hear - it all just fades away.
All he's left with is Eddie, right in front of him.
He's the only thing he can feel right now, the only thing he can hear and taste and smell, and see when he pulls back from the kiss.
Eddie had his eyes closed, so Steve gets to see him blink them open slowly, like his whole world has been shifted too. Like something is finally settled inside him too.
It kind of makes Steve want to cry again, embarrassingly enough.
He cups Eddie's jaw and leans in to kiss him again, this time swiping his tongue across his lower lip. Eddie opens his mouth and Steve tilts his head to the side and presses his tongue inside his mouth.
Their tongues tangle together for the first time and it's so heady, Steve feels dizzy with it. He kisses him harder, licking into his mouth, both hands now on either side of his head, not trapping him or keeping him there, just holding him so he can be kissed by Steve for as long as they both want it.
Eddie's hands find Steve's waist, and one slips up under his shirt. He touches the words written onto Steve's rib cage and Steve trembles, the skin contact making him shivery with want.
And god, does he want.
He wants everything. He wants to keep kissing Eddie until the room around them darkens as the sun goes down. He wants to stand here kissing him for hours, wants to bite his lips until they're swollen and tender and then keep on kissing his bruised mouth. He wants to touch him, wants to put his hands everywhere, wants Eddie's hands on him.
He's snapped out of the trance Eddie's mouth has put him in by a tap-tap-tap on the glass door.
They pull apart slowly, their mouths separating with a slick sound that Steve's going to be replaying in his head for hours.
They both look at the back door where Rick is standing.
"Can I come back in now? It's chilly," he asks, his voice muffled through the glass.
Steve rolls his eyes and steps back from Eddie.
Eddie grins at him and says, "Yeah, man. Come on in."
Rick slides the door open, steps back inside, and says, "Glad you two finally worked this all out then. Maybe now Eddie will stop complaining about it all the time."
Eddie looks at Rick, betrayed, then looks at Steve and says, "I don't- I do not complain. I was just, I do probably talk about it a lot, but I wasn't complaining, exactly-"
"Eddie, you complain more than anyone I know, about everything," Steve says, voice playful.
Eddie lets out an exaggerated gasp. "You're going to say that to me, your soulmate?"
Steve just rolls his eyes.
He's got the rest of their life to get Eddie to admit that he's the most dramatic person he knows.

Can we please stop pretending Klaus is some Machiavellian genius?
Tumblr media
I get the show is always trying to tell us he is a mastermind, but there are so many more clever characters who actually set up long term plans to achieve their goals (Lucien, Celeste, Katherine). What did Klaus ever do that was ever strategic or showed any superior intelligence? If anything his intelligence was severely stunted, he was a thousand years old and still acting like a teenager half the time. He made rash and impulsive decisions and they worked out sometimes. They had just as much of a chance of blowing up in his face. This doesn't make him smart. If he wasn't so indestructible, he wouldn't have been so lucky.
Throughout history, we constantly see Elijah having to remind Klaus not to draw attention to them. All he has to do is stop being a serial killer or risk bringing the one man he is terrified of to town. You would think it would be easy, yet he is unable to control himself. At no point do we see him ever preparing to confront Mikael. He only runs from him. He could have created an army to trap Mikael or befriended witches. But no, instead of coming up with a plan, they all just run. Not much of a master strategist. The fandom loves to say it was stupid that Rebekah called Mikael to New Orleans yet doesn't want to talk about how stupid it was for Kol and Klaus to go on a killing spree which they knew would attract Mikael. And he does this not once, not twice, but repeatedly in every flashback we see, all the way from the first flashback in 1001 to the last in the 1950s.
Speaking of the 1950s, what great strategic plan was it to tell Elijah he buried their siblings at sea? He isolated the one family member he had left while Mikael was hot on his trail. This turned Elijah against him and what did Klaus do? Did he come up with a masterplan? No. he ran and body jumped.
Klaus' strength isn't his intelligence but his durability and his psychical strength. Which is why he was so determined to break his curse. He needed to be stronger than everyone, including his siblings. But what did any of that get him? Tristan and Aya at least built a cult and created weapons that could even take down Originals. Yet Klaus wasn't able to come up with any plan to take down Mikael?
We see Elijah tell Klaus that Klaus 'built' New Orleans, yet we never see any indication that Klaus is politically minded. In fact, in season one, he is in charge and a war breaks out in large part due to his scheming. He is constantly killing political leaders (the mayor, the mayor's son, the witches' leaders, every faction head, etc.) and then is surprised when they can't find peace and everyone is against him.
The only time Klaus had a long term plan that actually seemed clever was the lie about the sun and the moon curse. Not only did it take them nearly a thousand years before it actually worked, but he wasn't even the reason it worked. He was tricked by Elijah and literal teenagers. Elijah tricked him to get him to MF, the MF gang tricked him into believing Bonnie was dead, and then he fell for that exact same trick and believed that Elena was dead.
Throughout the shows and even flashbacks, people act like Klaus is this great strategist. And maybe he is compared to the children he is targeting. But when you put him up against his equals (Lucien, Mikael, Dahlia, etc.), he doesn't compare.
Celeste and Genevie were manipulating Klaus left and right in season one. In the short '9' months he was in New Orleans, he destabilized it so much that Hope nearly died. She only survived because of Marcel. They only got her back because of Elijah and Hayley. In fact, Klaus' plan to bring Hope back before they were ready is what drew Dahlia back so quickly, leaving them unprepared to face her.
Klaus wasn't responsible for Mikael's first death. He got lucky that everyone else (the children he was targeting) came up with a plan to trick Mikael. Mikael's second death was simply overpowering him, no outsmarting there. In fact, Mikael would have killed Klaus if his family hadn't saved him earlier.
Yes, he 'tricked' Dahlia into believing he betrayed his family, but this wasn't a trick. He actually did betray them. He murdered Gia and turned Elijah against him once again. He is unable to scheme without actually hurting those close to him and alienating the people trying to help. He lies that he killed Aiden, again another time he just jumps on the first opportunity he sees, and by doing so, he alienates all of their allies and endangers his family. The only reason they end up beating Dahlia is because of Esther. They all would have died based on Klaus' plan. Sure his idea to curse Hayley did technically save her life but he didn't do it for that purpose, he admitted he did it to punish her. There was no long term scheme. He hadn't thought through how it would impact Hope or even what he would tell his daughter as she got older.
Then in Season 3, Lucien had Klaus on his knees before his big brother and big sister swept in to save the day. Even taking down Tristan was thanks to Cami and Freya's plan. He had to be saved from the Strix by Hayley, Marcel, and Stefan. They have their big Thanksgiving dinner where they confront the three, but all it does is show that Lucien, Tristan, and Aurora had out schemed the Mikaelsons. The only thing the Mikaelsons could do was overpower them and threaten them.
In Season 4, Klaus hardly does anything and Season 5 Klaus is an absolute mess. You're telling me this legendary strategist couldn't save his daughter and her mother from a hundred year old vampire? He couldn't figure out a way to find her? In the seven years they were forced apart, he wasn't even trying to find a way to reunite his family? He wasn't a strategist, rather he waited for events to happen and then reacted impulsively, hoping it would work out. His plans are all based on emotion and vendettas, not strategy or intelligence.
Yes, he is Machiavellian in a sense that he has nearly no empathy and will do whatever it takes to get what he wants, but he lacks the cunningness to be truly Machiavellian. Instead he is just a narcissistic psychopath.

i just don't understand pt 2
in which jungkook does not understand how his friend doesn't have a crush on namjoon
a drabble sequel to the drabble 'i just don't understand' -
i'd say you need to read that first, it's just 500 words but if you really don't want to, i included the last bit of dialogue at the beginning of this fic i dont care if drabbles can't have sequels, it just worked out this way lmao
description/tags: jungkook drabble / fluff / friends to lovers / ~900 words / jk comes off a little more insecure here but it kind of works because i'd always imagined this as a younger version of him / hope you enjoy!! / it's been a while since i wrote anything but i have a recent writing update i recently shared (this is *not* the jk thing i am currently working on - i hope to have that done for his birthday!)
+
“What the hell are you attracted to?” Jungkook laughs. “Ugly, stupid, mean, untalented guys?”
“Of course not, Jungkook,” you sigh. “I like other handsome, smart, kind, respectful guys.”
“Like who?”
“Like YOU!”
This was not how you imagined confessing.
“Like…. Like me?!”
Dropping the plushie in his hands, Jungkook gestures to himself in disbelief.
“I said like you, Jungkook,” you emphasize, hoping it wasn’t too late to back out of your frustration-fueled confession.
“So…. Not me?”
What the fuck were you supposed to say now?! You pick up the teddy bear and tug at its pink fur, staring at its face and hoping the bear’s smile would turn into a murderous one, killing you and waking you up from this anxiety-inducing nightmare.
Jungkook calls your name quietly and quickly, bringing you back life.
“Like you. You, Jungkook. I like you.”
“Over… over Namjoon?” he winces, and you do too. It was the most humiliating way someone could have responded to a confession…. hoping you’d fall in love with someone else instead.
“Yes, Jungkook. Over Namjoon," you reply with your head in your hands.
“So all those things you said to describe him… handsome, smart, you think that of me too?”
“Yeah, of course,” you chuckle, finally looking up at him, “that and so much more, actually.”
“But there’s a difference? Between what you think of me and what you think of Namjoon-hyung?”
“Oh, there’s a big difference.”
“You described the both of us with the same string of adjectives, though….”
Jungkook was a clever guy…. Why was he acting so stupid?
“Who cares if you share some similar qualities?! I am not attracted to Namjoon. Period. I am attracted to you, Jeon Jungkook. The person born on September 1, 1997, who always wears black, loves karaoke, samgyeopsal, the movie Titanic, and the scariest fucking theme park rides! The Jeon Jungkook that’s sitting right in front of me. You.”
Jungkook's breath is shaky, his voice the same when he speaks. “I just find it hard to believe…. Not Namjoon. And not only that - me over Namjoon….”
“I don’t know how to explain it in more words, Koo…. I like you. I like you in the way that people have crushes on each other. You make my heart flutter while also putting it at ease. I like you.”
The boy in front of you doesn’t say anything, merely stiffens his posture, and you know it only meant the worst.
“This…. This calls for the end of our friendship doesn’t it?” you mumble, voice breaking and bubbling, ready to burst into tears.
“No…. No, absolutely not….” he says, breaking out of his catatonic state to sit next to you on the couch and hug your plushie once again. “Let me explain something this time… You know how I gush over Namjoon?”
“Of course,” you groan, and Jungkook rolls his eyes.
“And I always try to understand why you aren’t attracted to him… right?”
“Yeah…”
“I know Namjoon and I are not the exact same. Of course I do, that’s why I look up to him and keep recommending him to you and I guess… I guess it’s because in my head, I was trying to convince myself that you had to go for guys like Namjoon… because you’d never go for guys like me…”
“…. And what do you mean by guys like you?”
“Guys that have nothing in common with you. You say Namjoon and I are both handsome and smart... But in truth, you and he share the similarities and I could never compete. You're both beautiful in the 'once-in-a-lifetime' kind of way. You're both clever in the book-ish way - do you know you have the exact same books as he does? I bought a book two weeks ago to try and impress you but I haven’t gotten past the introduction so I was too ashamed to even tell you. Oh, that one time, you both recommended the same drama series to me… on the same day. I thought for sure that you’d hooked up and seen it together, and that’d be that. But then you called me crying when it ended, wrapped up in your fluffy pink blanket in bed with chips.”
“You asked me why I didn’t call Namjoon…”
“And you said ‘why would I?’… Even if you weren't hooking up, I could’ve given you a million reasons as to why you could've called him instead. That drama was too artsy for me, but not for either of you. I didn’t even understand what you were saying on the phone that day - the message behind the story, or whatever - I was just so happy that you’d called and that you’d think I’d get it.”
Jungkook lets out a laugh as he shakes his head. For some reason, it breaks your heart.
“I tried to make ‘you and Namjoon’ happen because it’s the only logical thing I could see in front of me…… The only answer I could come up with… You’re… the most wonderful person I’ve ever known, YN. I want what’s best for you - you deserve the best kind of guy there is…. and that’s definitely Nam-“
You push your lips against Jungkook’s, interrupting him with a kiss.
“It’s you, Jungkook. You’re the best fucking person I know.” You kiss him again. “I’d pick you a million times over.”
“Well, what if-“
“Can we forget about Namjoon entirely for a moment? I want the boy I like to shut up and kiss me…. If you want to, that is.”
Jungkook’s smile turns into one you rarely see. A smirk, devilish, menacing…. Delectable as he nods and meets you with a deep kiss, electrifying every inch of your body.
You were always a know-it-all and you'd been right once again: this was always the boy for you.

i know the ending is kinda classic, but i like writing modern!aemond being soft, caring and loving. i hope you like it, requests are open!!
my masterlist
the brave one
confessing your love to your best friend aemond targaryen.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
you don't want this. you don't want to see him being this close with someone else. it's wrong to think that, he is your best friend. he is not your lover.
you don't even know when have your feelings started. you have always loved him and now you are in love with him. being in love with your best friend is a shitty thing, you certainly wouldn't choose this.
he is talking to a girl. actually he whispers something to a girl, which is an act requires close distance between them. you hate it. he has his charming smile on his face. he slightly laughs sometimes, his beautiful hair fallen loosely on his shoulders.
your fingers are on the bar table. you slowly swallow your drink, trying to resist your tears. you don't know what came over you but tonight you feel overly sensitive and emotional. your best friend who you love, looking like he flirts with a girl at the bar you came together certainly doesn't help your emotions.
you finish your drink and have another one. you wouldn't mind being drunk tonight. you stare at him. he doesn't see the intensity in your gaze. he smiles at you. you don't smile back.
he comes back to your table. the girl walks back to her friends.
"why did you come back? i thought you were having fun."
he shook his head.
"not really."
you slowly nod, feeling the dizziness alcohol brings. you smile at the feeling. you drink, and then another.
"don't you think you're going too fast?"
you look at him. his beautiful face. looks like it has been carved by the gods. he has a sympathetic and a slightly worried look on his face.
"no, no. i'm doing just fine."
your words aren't clear. he starts to worry, you aren't like this normally. you seem different tonight. he doesn't understand why but tries to help you stand up.
"come on, let's get you home."
you hold on to him and feeling pathetic. he has all your attention standing tall next to you with his always great posture.
you are in his car. your brain feels unclear and thoughts mix up as you stare out of window. you frown at the situation. you want this to be over. you want to confess. maybe you can blame it on your drunken state but he is a clever man, if you ever say anything about your feelings he will not let go.
"are you okay princess? we are almost there."
you close your eyes.
"please don't call me that."
"i always call you that, what's wrong now?"
"you would be suprised to know how everything is wrong right now."
you mumble your words, unsure if he heard them. he stops the car and helps you out of it. you are unbalanced on your feet, feeling drunk, tired, and in love.
he holds you on your shoulders and looks at your face. you have the eye contact now, you have been seeking for it all night.
something kicks in. you lift your hand and slowly bring it to his face. he doesn't move. you caress his cheekbone and bring your thumb on the corner of his lip. you have a faint, unconcious smile on your face. you adore him. being this close, touching his face, feeling drunk and brave.
"do you know how beautiful you are?" such a drunk question.
"hmm, you think so?"
you nod quickly, your fingers still on his cheek.
"you are so beautiful, aemond. so fucking beautiful. and it hurts too much."
"what hurts, princess? you need to tell me so i can help you."
you shook your head.
"but i don't want to lose you. i can't lose you."
"you would never lose me. what hurts?"
you frown like a little girl, exaggerated and sad.
"being in love with someone who i can't have."
he is a clever man. still, he doesn't get it. he doesn't know you are talking about him. maybe he doesn't want to accept it.
"you're in love with someone? why didn't you tell me, i thought i was your closest friend!"
you laugh. he is confused.
"something fun?"
you let out a shaky breath.
"you are a clever man and somehow still don't see. you don't see anything. i'm-"
"what do you mean? if you want to say something, please say it directly."
your brain stops for a moment. you are about to confess. this isn't how you planned. nothing is like you planned. he will reject you. he will stop being your friend. you will lose him.
you start crying unintentionally. tears slowly fall on your cheeks.
"why are you crying, princess? look, if you don't tell me what you think i can't help you."
his voice is soft and caring. like a best friend.
"i just don't want to lose you, okay? please. i-"
he holds your face in his hands. encourages you to finish your sentence.
"i'm in love with you. i know it's bad, i know you will leave me after this, nothing will ever be the same but i can't stand it anymore. it's so hard and i feel desperate, aemond."
his face softens at your words. he looks at your flushed face, your lips swollen from biting. he sees how shy you look, how scared because you think you will lose him.
"look at me. come on, princess."
you see his little smile.
"will you say something?"
you ask the question, wait for the answer. you don't know what he will say. you feel slightly better, at least now it's all up to him. you confessed, alcohol in your veins helping you with your bravery.
"aemond, please. if you don't want to see me anymore, say it. just say something."
instead of saying something, he pulls you closer and presses his lips to yours. you can't even blink, processing what's happening. you step back, your hands on his chest.
"what are you-"
"you wanted an answer. this is an answer, sweetheart. this is us finally having each other. you are more brave than me, confessing first."
are you dreaming? drinking more than you usually drink must have you dreaming.
"i'm not sure if i got that correctly, sorry i'm a bit drunk i guess."
he smiles at you being so sweet.
"i'm saying that i love you. not like a best friend. being your best friend was the only option for being close to you. i couldn't ruin our friendship, but like i said you were more brave. you saved both of us from misery."
you laugh. you stressed too much and the only answer you were not hoping for was told to you.
"so you are in love with me?"
you excidedly mumble the words. you feel extremely happy and tired at the same time.
"yes. yes, my princess."
the next thing you know is that you hold his hand, leading him to your apartment. once you are inside, you close the door pushing him against the wall, your movements are unbalanced but he holds your waist, feeling your eagerness.
"i wanted this for so long. so long, aemond."
he kisses your desperation. he tries to comfort you by rubbing the back of your neck, you sigh into the kiss. his slightly whiskey smelled breath mixes with your drunk sighes. he lets you control him, finally feeling satisfied having you all for himself.
"our first time will not be like this when you feel drunk. not like this."
you break the kiss, leaning into him. he lifts you easily and you wrap your legs around his waist. he carries you to your bedroom, helps you sit on the edge of the bed. you lay down, your feet touch the floor.
"come on, we have to change your clothes."
you feel happy. the things you dream of happens and all you can do is to smile and watch.
"i don't want to. i'm too tired."
"come on princess, i'll help you."
he helps you sit and you lift your arms letting him take your sweater off. you are bare in front of him, you don't feel embarrassed at all. he caresses your waist line, leaning in to press a kiss to your belly.
you change into one of his shirts, the one that you stole from him. he finds it in your closet looking suprised.
"is this mine?"
you smile.
"yes, it's one of my favorites."
"one of? how many of my shirts have you taken, princess?"
"they smell like you. i love wearing them when i'm alone."
he smiles at your confession. his brave girl, confessing her secrets to him truthfully.
"you wear my shirt to bed, hmm? my beautiful princess."
he takes off his clothes. you open the duvet for him. he accepts the invitation and holds you in bed. it feels too natural like it's always like this. like it's not the first time he is in your bed. your leg around his waist.
"you should sleep now. we will talk about everything in the morning, okay?"
you nod and press a soft kiss to his neck. it happened. finally you can close your eyes to this feeling. your favorite man holding you, pressing kisses to your hair, and he loves you back.

dialogue starters from VARIOUS DOCTOR WHO SPECIALS. feel free to edit for context / continues under the cut.
"Who the hell are you?"
"Do you know, I've never met anyone who wasn't important before."
"Whatever happens tonight, remember you brought it on yourself."
"Don't treat me like an idiot."
"Sorry, I didn't realise I was boring you."
"What's happened? What are you not telling me?"
"I don't care. I'm not like you. I don't even want to be like you. I don't and never, ever will care."
"Give me your hand and come to me."
"Everything has got to end some time, otherwise nothing would ever get started."
"I don't need anyone else."
"That wasn't there a second ago. It just appeared, from nowhere."
"What's wrong with silly?"
"Where are you going? I thought we were just getting acquainted."
"How refreshing to see you taking an interest again."
"Don't worry. No one's going to hurt you."
"Don't try to run away. Stay where you are."
"Why would I run? I know what's going to happen next and it's funny."
"What's wrong with dangerous?"
"I'm begging you. I'm on my knees."
"Children are not really my area of expertise."
"Yes? What? I'm trying to read."
"This isn't the sort of thing I do anymore."
"You missed this, didn't you?"
"Do I always have to state the obvious?"
"Blimey, you really know how to sulk, don't you?"
"Well, for your information, I'm not sweet on the inside."
"I don't know why I'm crying."
"Remember this. This right now, remember all of it. Because this is the day. This is the day. This is the day everything begins."
"What is the point of blaming yourself?"
"Will you come away with me?"
"Don't you think, after all this time and everything I've ever done, that I am owed this one?"
"We saved the world, you and me. We really, really did."
"Next time, would it kill you to knock?"
"What's our cover story for this?"
"Am I having a midlife crisis?"
"You don't seem to be kneeling. How tremendously brave of you."
"Is something funny? Did I miss a funny thing?"
"Oh, goodness, you're not actually dead. Oh, that's tremendous news."
"Emergency! You're my boyfriend."
"No, stop, stop, don't move. Don't do anything."
"There you are. What took you so long?"
"You didn't even say goodbye!"
"Why did you send me away?"
"Everyone gets stuck somewhere eventually. Everything ends."
"Why didn't you call me? I could have helped."
"Oh. I died. It's funny, the things that slip your mind."
"He just looked so beautiful standing there. I wanted everything to stop. I wanted nothing to change ever again."
"Don't hug me so tight. You'll break something."
"Were you always so young?"
"You're going to stay here. Promise me you will."
"It's started. I can't stop it now."
"It all just disappears, doesn't it? Everything you are, gone in a moment, like breath on a mirror."
"We all change, when you think about it. We're all different people all through our lives."
"I will not forget one line of this. Not one day. I swear."
"Stay calm. Just one question. Do you happen to know how to fly this thing?"
"Talk to me. I never thought I was going to see you again."
"Don't make me think about them!"
"Don't you dare. Don't you dare say that."
"Who are you? Why are you dressed like that?"
"We never stood a chance. How did we survive that?"
"Seriously? You're trying to help?"
"Well, that's not a very nice attitude, is it?"
"You're always talking like you're so clever, going on and on. So tell me what to do!"
"You're always such a downer."
"I'm sorry. I was stupid. I should have come back earlier. I wish that I had."
"No. It isn't all over. It's far from being all over."
"I knew it. I knew you couldn't be dead."
"That is - That is not happening. That's totally not happening. Agreed?"
"Who the hell do you think you are?"
"Why am I wearing these?"
"Quite beautiful, really, isn't she?"
"Can we just pretend that that never happened? Can we just never, ever talk about this again?"
"I hope we talk about it loads. I hope we spend years laughing about it."
"I'm afraid. Very, very afraid. I don't normally admit that to anyone else."
"You're a bit of a legend these days."
"Well, that would be a nice story, wouldn't it?"
"The real world is not a fairytale."
"I'm so tired of losing people."
"How was this our fault?"
"I think I'm ready now. But I should like to know - are you?"
"Whatever you decide, good luck."
"Can't I ever have peace? Can't I rest?"
"Thank you. Thank you for everything that you were to me."
"You wait a moment. Let's get it right. I've got a few things to say to you."
"Laugh hard, run fast, be kind."

The roommate

Part XVII
Izuku is walking down the street next to Kirishima when he has a weird feeling in his chest; he wouldn't call it exactly a premonition, but something's certainly not quite right.
Or maybe he's just worried and sad because his boyfriends don't talk to him about important stuff as much as he'd like them to.
"Do they make you happy?" Kirishima asks, suddenly stopping; it's early in the morning so Izuku supposes they have time to chat a little bit.
The green haired man sighs and closes his eyes; Kirishima gets closer, and Izuku notices he's usually silent that day, which is kinda weird for a guy who's bright and loud in general.
Maybe Izuku is just overthinking everything so he doesn't have to actually answer his friend's question. Kirishima is his friend, even though they have a little bit of time knowing one another, Izuku feels like he can trust him.
"To be honest, I'm a little bit frustrated with them at the moment," he confesses, deciding that the truth is the best thing in this case. "But they do make me happy and even though neither us get it right on the first try, the important thing is that we keep trying."
When he opens his eyes, Kirishima is right in front of him, in his personal space, which is not entirely weird coming from someone as friendly as him, but Izuku takes a step back anyway.
"You were supposed to say that they don't make you happy," Kirishima blurts out, and the irritated expression he makes is one Izuku has never seen on the pro hero before.
Then, it hits him.
"Ah," he mumbles as a shiver runs down his spine. "A mimic quirk, of course."
"I knew you were a clever one," Kirishima says, although Izuku knows that's not him at all, but someone who has made themselves look like the pro hero.
"What happens next?" Izuku asks, trying to think, for a brief moment he considers shouting, but he doesn't know if this villain is capable of hurting the people around too. He reaches into his pocket for his phone and tries to blindly call someone.
"Nothing," the fake Kirishima says, shrugging. "For some reason you're still happy with them, despite them treating you like this. I only take the unhappy ones."
"But why do you kill them?" Izuku asks; he's not sure if he wants to distract them or he's genuinely curious about it.
"I didn't kill her!" The fake Kirishima snaps suddenly, baring his sharp teeth and making Izuku realize that the real one must look terrifying when angry. "They're lying to you!"
"She was one of the people you took." Izuku points out, trying his luck; he hopes it's not running out just yet.
"Yes, but she escaped. I only keep them."
Izuku shakes his head because nothing makes sense. Of course they're lying, right? They're the villain.
And yet... Izuku feels like they're not.
"Who killed her then?"
The fake Kirishima growls, probably guessing that Izuku doesn't actually believe them.
"I don't know, but that one was already fucked up... her boyfriend was an abusive motherfucker. She was relieved when I took her."
"But that can't be possible because..." Izuku stops his mumbling to think properly; he doesn't notice but his own fingers have stopped trying to make a call. He's too trapped in this puzzle to think about anything else. "If you took her then her boyfriend was a pro hero, because you only take..."
"Difficult to believe a pro hero beats his significant other up? Come on!"
They're right of course. How can he forget Todoroki's mother? Pro heroes are just humans at the end of the day.
"That's why you're doing this? To prove everyone they're not saints? That they're not angels or gods?"
By creating a problem like that one, by kidnapping people they force the police and other pro heroes to dig into their lives; that's how the secrets come out. But why hasn't anything reached social media yet?
"That's one way to put it," the fake Kirishima laughs in a way the real one never would. "But this stupid society keeps covering up their mistakes. I'm tired of heroes having everything they want when they deserve none of it!"
Ah. They want to punish pro heroes.
"You should let the other people go."
"Nice try," the fake Red Riot pats Izuku's cheek gently, before they kiss him on the forehead. "I like you a lot. But no, they're not ready to go. If I release them they'll go back to their pathetic little lives."
A group of people rush down the street, most of them are trying to go to work or school and are too immerse in their own problems to pay attention to their surroundings.
"I'll come back for you later," the fake Kirishima waves, joining the crowd. "When they make you unhappy, because they'll fuck up eventually, I know they will."
The fake one tosses something in his direction and he realizes that it's Kirishima's phone. When did they take it?
Izuku doesn't know how he gets there, but his body takes him to work, like every morning. However, he collapses on the ground and can hear his coworkers and Hatsume rushing towards him.
"It's okay, I-I'm fine. Just give me a minute," he's shaking, but it'll pass, he's sure of it.
Suddenly, Katsuki's arms are around him; he's still in his civilian clothes. Izuku blinks a couple of times, wondering how he found out, but then notices that Kirishima, the real one, is right behind him.
Part of him is afraid of Red Riot for what happened, but Izuku finally notices that even though his eyes are the same color as the fake ones, his are full of genuine kindness and concern.
He should've realized what was going on sooner.
"Shoto is coming," Katsuki whispers in his ear, taking him in his arms. Then, he turns to Hatsume and adds: "I'm going to take him home now."
Izuku wants to say that he's fine, but the truth is that he's not.
They meet Shoto halfway and the three, no, the four of them, because Kirishima is following them too, go back into the apartment.
"Here," Izuku hands Red Riot his phone. "They gave me this."
"I thought I lost it. I'm sorry, Midobro."
Hearing that nickname makes him feel relieved.
"It's not your fault," he assures him. "I should've been more careful."
Izuku expects questions, he waits for them and tries to prepare answers, forcing his brain to remember details, but he's still in shock.
He's going to fail them.
However, the questions don't come; Shoto is on the phone talking to someone else, telling them to look for someone who looks like Red Riot; Izuku knows they're probably gone and looking like someone else by now, but it's worth a shot.
Katsuki hands him a cup of hot cocoa and Izuku realizes that despite needing answers, despite knowing time is against them, they're not forcing Izuku to speak.
They're giving him time, they're taking care of him first.
Do they make you happy?
He starts sobbing, unable to stop the tears, even though they're useless. Katsuki leans closer and kisses them away.
"What is it? Did they hurt you?"
Izuku shakes his head and suddenly Shoto's arms are around his shoulders.
"It's okay, you're safe now, I promise. We got you, love."
***
"I'm ready to talk now," Izuku says after a while; Kirishima is gone and he knows Shoto needs to go to the agency as soon as possible, but he's staying only because of him.
"Are you sure?" Katsuki asks in a whisper, almost like he's afraid of hurting Izuku with his voice.
Izuku usually doesn't like to be treated like something fragile, but he can tell they're both as scared as he is.
"We thought we were going to lose you," Shoto mumbles then, kneeling in front of the couch Izuku is sitting on.
"I'm still here," he mumbles, pulling the blanket closer to him.
Then, after taking another sip of his hot cocoa, he tells them everything that happened. Well, most of it.
"They take the people that are unhappy with their pro hero partners," Shoto starts talking to himself, pacing around the room. "But why did they want to take you?"
"Are you..." Katsuki doesn't finish the question, but he looks miserable. "I'm sorry, Izuku."
He pulls the blond into his arms; knowing he hasn't slept since his shift ended.
"They didn't take me because I'm quite happy with you two, even though you frustrate me sometimes."
"I'm sorry," they both apologize again, probably thinking about their latest argument.
"We were wrong about trying to shield you from everything, even the information that could've prevented this incident," Katsuki blurts out. "But it won't happen again."
"You're part of this investigation now," Shoto says then and after giving Izuku a kiss on the cheek he adds: "And we'll try to talk things out more often."
Izuku takes a deep breath, feeling like a weight has lifted from his shoulders.
"Thank you, that's all I want."
"Now I need to go to the office to look into the girl's death again."
"Do you believe what they told me?"
"Not really, but if they said that it's probably worth a shot looking into it."
"Can I see what you have on the case so far?"
"I have the case file in my laptop," Katsuki nods, heading towards one of the bedrooms. "And I'll gladly show it to you, but I'd like you to rest for a while first."
"You too! You haven't slept!" Izuku scolds him. Then, something occurs to him that makes him look from one to the other. "Wait! How do you know it's me? Why haven't you tried to ask me–"
"Hey, it's fine," Shoto whispers, kneeling in front of him again. Izuku doesn't realize he's shaking until his boyfriend takes his hands in his. "You're safe."
"It's for the same reason you haven't tried to prove it's us either," Katsuki smiles, sitting right next to him. "No matter how good they are at mimicking, we could tell if it wasn't you. And you know that too."
Izuku takes a deep breath and pulls them both closer to him; he feels their lips pressing against each side of his face.
Yes, he'd recognize them anywhere and perhaps that's why the villain chose Kirishima to mimic instead of one of them.
"We'll keep you safe."
"We'll keep each other safe," Izuku corrects Shoto as Katsuki smirks.
"That's right, nerd."

What's your ideas on a yandere reader? I envision a more highly devoted type that borders worship. I'm curious for Atsushi and Kunikida would deal with this. Maybe Dazai too.
i always love to read anything to do with yandere reader :> it's been growing on me recently but honestly i feel like i can never write it in a way that isn't unappealing to read 😭 (i got carried away at some parts)
cw yandere reader, yandere character, obsession, stabbing, general descriptions of violence (dazai's part) stalking, jealousy, possessive behavior, unhealthy relationships, manipulation codependency.
initially, atsushi would be very uncomfortable with that level of devotion. he doesn't think he deserves it, and even if your compliments and concerning amount of praise flatter him, he knows it's not...normal. you shouldn't hold anyone, let alone him in such high regard. but still, if you persist, he feels like he owes it to you to reciprocate your feelings at least to some degree. it's not like he's had anyone else that's been interested in him before, and definitely not like this.
the guilt never fades, but he grows a little compliant, not protesting when you cancel his plans and tell him to stay away from his friends. how can he say no and watch your face fall? he hates disappointing anyone, and knowing you would do anything for him makes him never want to disappoint you.
while he may never understand the fierce possessiveness in your eyes when anyone else approaches him or the desperation in your voice when you plead with him for his love, he thinks he can grow to accept it. it doesn't hurt to feel wanted, and he thinks after all the days he's felt absolutely useless and undeserving of any happiness, this isn't too bad.
it feels nice to be so loved, even if he knows, deep down, that it can't be healthy.
for kunikida, he's really just confused at first. why would anyone allow themselves to become so bothered with someone else? it just feels useless to him. so when he learns of your feelings, and towards him, he's even more perplexed. what did you see in him? he approaches you directly about it, and you aren't so shy that you wouldn't answer him, although he can tell you're intimidated. you tell him he's your idea of an ideal partner—clever, determined, quick on his feet and loyal. he was perfect, in your eyes. and you believe he deserves someone to worship him. someone to care for him like he cares for others, someone to know him beyond his sometimes harsh exterior. and then you tell him that you haven't been lucky enough to peek into his book yet, but you hope you qualify for at least one requirement of his ideal partner. kunikida goes home that night, and stares at his list for the ideal partner. after a long time, he picks up his pen and makes some changes. he can't exactly understand you, but he can appreciate your efforts. his favorite drink on his bedside every morning with a note from you, just the way he keeps his cup—he overlooks the obvious breach of privacy in favour of the comforting warmth from his drink. your attempts to conform to his wishes, no matter how inconvinient. your constant praise and love for him. still, he knows it's unhealthy. he knows it's not right but...he grows to enjoy your presence. he tells himself that soon, he'll stop you. he'll talk to you some other time, about working on your attachment to him. for now...he can relish in your total trust in him.
dazai couldn't believe it at first. he already caught on to your not so subtle stalking a while ago—you weren't as good as you'd think, but he found it oddly endearing. he would be flattered, even, that someone cared so much. he definitely didn't need you to keep an eye out on him as he ventured through dangerous alleys alone, but it was nice to know someone was looking out for him.
he might even find it sweet.
for all he likes to act like nothing bothers him and he's always alright, he kind of likes to be acknowledged in this way.
so his next course of action would be to stalk you, obviously! alright, so that startled expression whenever you catch him looking, that flustered look when he smirks at you, telling you that he knew what you were up to, stirred something inside him. but what could he do? you were just so cute! he gets to know you (by watching you through the windows) and he's struck by how...normal you are. you really weren't pretending around him at the office. he texts you and watches your face light up. he sends you selfies and watches as your eyes grow wide and your breath hitch. you really did like him, didn't you? he does it on purpose, sometimes. flirts with the waitress as you seethe from the corner, wondering how far you'd go for him. you don't hurt her, but you didn't need to—that burning glare from you that day sent her running away from dazai every time after that. when he watches you stab fyodor, lying on the ground in a pool of his own blood, spitting out curses at him for hurting your dazai, landing a hand on him—he smiles, despite himself. he feels lightheaded. he thinks it's from the wound at first, but realises you probably drugged him. you didn't have to, but he doesn't mind. your usual softhearted nature burned away in your rage, eyes sharp and hands steady as you plung the knife in and out. you don't give the man a quick death, swearing he would pay for ever daring to touch dazai. he's almost jealous that the other man is getting all your attention, but he isn't afraid.
you're doing this because you loved him, after all, and he knew in that moment he would do the same.

Hajime Isayama is a genius. And here's why: a tangent
The fourth season of Attack On Titan (AOT/Shingeki No Kyojin) is the epitome of
The enemy of my enemy is my friend.
Keep that in mind as you, if anybody, reads this.
Eren's villain arc makes total sense. Don't get me wrong, the ending was fucked. But it made so much sense.
With the entirety of the series being about freedom and him having the Attack Titan's power to "see" the future, Eren—as dumb and idiotic as he can be—realised, I think, that in order for the world to stop seeing Paradis as their foe (for the world to stop seeing Eldian's in general as their foe) and for them to have the freedom he so desperately dreamed about from the day Armin showed him that book, they needed a common enemy. But there wasn't one: there was just hatred and violence towards others who were just a little different. So he realised that, in the end, he had to become that. He had the strength and power, and he knew that. He could be that for the people. He could be the reason that the people of Marley and Paradis unite and fight side by side instead of fighting each other. He honestly even told Armin as much.
ARMIN: It was all to push us away from you... and make us into heroes who save humanity from extinction by taking you down?
EREN: Yeah. You guys will become saviors to all that's left of humanity. You turned your backs on Paradis in spite of being "Island Devils," and sided with humanity to the end.
Eren became what no one else wanted to. What no one thought he'd become. For the sake of the people that meant the world to him: Armin, Mikasa, Connie, Sasha, and even Jean (side note: I loved their rivalry. It made things light and fun even in dark times). He says that in order for things to go the way they needed to, future him sent the titan towards his mother instead of Bertholdt. Eren had to do the hardest things of his life towards the end: one being becoming someone he's not for the sake of the greater good (poor babies. Honestly, he was convincing as the villain: he had all the justifications to be that person. But he wasn't, down to his core, mean and cruel as he so convincingly portrayed himself to be. He even had his best friends fooled. Up until Armin heard about the eradication plan. At that point, Armin called his bullshit—which is fair).
He showed his father memories, fake and real, of what's to come to make him convince Zeke, which was very clever. He controlled Yimr enough—with Zeke's help of course—to make her attack his friends with titans from the past to put on a good show, not knowing whether or not they'd make it out alive (he hoped and his hope and knowledge that his friends—no, family—were skilled enough to stay alive). He definitely knew his death was coming, and he knew he had to continue on, even if that meant causing his loved ones pain; the pain of his death moreso than anything.
Eren made Marley team up with Paradis. To fight an enemy they both had in common instead of each other. To make Marley and the rest of the world see sense (though as Historia said: "The fight will not end even after the Titans have vanished. Eren told me everything about the future he knows. Even if he can't see the future past that point, he was able to see this future vividly. I'm sure this outcome was not just the result of Eren's choices. This world is the result of the choices we all made. We must fight. So we won't have to fight anymore. Even if it means to live a living hell devoid of peace...")
Hense the reason I say that the fourth season is the epitome of "The enemy of my enemy is my friend." He knew that if they had a common enemy, they'd unite and fight together, not against each other. There was no need for senseless killing. He didn't want that.
Oh and don't even get me STARTED on the symbolism. My GOD that struck me like a fucking truck. Like, the shot of the scouts saluting Levi as he sat against that bolder only for the camera to pan to the Wings Of Freedom on Erwins back as he disappears along with them. UGH.
And then the biRD PULLING AT MIKASA'S SCARF ONLY TO FLY AWAY. LIKE, WHY WOULD YOU SHOW ME THAT??? Im CrYiNg!!!!!
Eren is finally free.

What are your thoughts on Adam? I just found your page and love the way you think, so I'm very curious /lh
ok first im printing this ask and wallpapering my house with it
adam is an interesting one. i think he's something of a prototype for quinn (see sadism and not taking anything seriously) but they're still very distinct characters who serve different purposes. adam is a foil to vincent - he represents all that vincent could have turned into if william hadn't kept an eye on him. the key difference is that adam doesn't have the intelligence that makes quinn such a threatening villain; he's clever, sure, but he's not smart.
which is not to say he's an idiot, he isn't, but adam is incredibly short-sighted. he doesn't really think in the long term, because he doesn't need to preserve anything except himself. sam (by way of vincent) points out that by the time lovely was found, adam was definitely running low on healing magic, and they likely would've died if adam hadn't been caught. i struggle to believe that adam had even considered anything that would keep lovely alive (like. y'know. food) other than just saturating them with healing and hoping for the best.
adam is also very narcissistic - which is most of what makes him fun to watch, as well as his eventual bloody end - and i think it stops him from making intelligent decisions. quinn (again) is a fantastic counter to darlin (and by extension, sam; arguably david as well) because he knows exactly what he's up against. quinn's head is impressively far up his own ass, but that arrogance is earned. he knows that darlin won't be able to track him down, that sam won't kill him on principle, that he can't be significantly harmed when interrogated because he has access to important information. adam doesn't have that. adam - quite literally - is a nobody, who was swept into house solaire because he was There. he killed his maker, sure, but that was probably an opportunistic betrayal rather than a calculated move. he doesn't have anything to hold over anyone's head (pin this thought for later!). not to mention adam either not realising or ignoring the fact that kidnapping and torturing someone of great importance to the prince of the local vampire clan, who have an established reputation for killing their enemies (thanks porter), is a very bad idea.
i think adam is especially interesting in the imperium - his feral nature in the prime timeline is because of his lack of power. he has nothing to his name, so he has to be brutal so people respect (citation needed) and fear him. however, his link to vincent (however short-lived) grants him a tiny amount of influence by proxy. adam is able to manipulate vincent incredibly effectively by twisting the abandonment issues knife, but can also hide behind him if a bigger threat arises. you can see this in the tiny snippet of imperium!adam we get in the way he's playing with his food (ha) instead of seeking security first, because he already has it in vincent.
adam, at his core, is an animal. he's a personification of pure primal instinct that doesn't - can't - consider the long term, and won't even entertain the idea of relying on someone else for any reason. that would be weakness, and a weak animal is just prey for a strong one.
thank you for coming to my ted talk

Round 4 Match 15
Tumblr media
propaganda below the cut! (massive wall of text warning)
Tracy Chapman:
"I can’t think of anything clever to say because I’m too busy sighing dreamily"
"GUYS ITS FUCKING TRACY CHAPMAN VOTE FOR HER OR ELSE ILL EAT PLAYDOUGH"
"Tracy Chapman made the best song of all time (fast car)"
"ik im the hope sandoval guy but if hope doesn't make it tracy has to she made me realize i was a lesbian i just thought i was bi then i listened to her and now im a lesbian she is powerful she is strength if you looked at her and looked at my art you would see 20 years of inspiration from one single woman"
"she's too good to commit atrocities to me but im the gore guy and you aren't for that. i would let her take out my vocal chords and use them as floss. i would have her saw down my bones to make a vinyl of her music. i would go on all fours and let her slaughter me like a pig. i want to be her cat"
"The most powerful written and performed voice of the 90s. Everyone, of any nationality or belief system, could feel the words Tracy Chapman sang. She gets her dues but deserves even more."
Stephen Malkmus:
"i can't even stand stephen malkmus but there's a very special girl out there who needs this win"
"My perpetually stoned, nonsensical girlfriend...if we don't invent the time machine soon I might die. He's like 6 ft tall so unfortunately I'd be like one of those birds that ride on giraffes and eat bugs out of their fur. And then I'd die in a weed accident during the recording of Wowee Zowee? Before that though I'd spend 25 hrs a day in bed with him. Alright thanks"
"Stephen Malkmus chronically addicted to moaning and gasping in Pavement songs like he’s getting the best dicking down of his life in the back of the tour bus while everyone else is asleep"
"This is the indie-label match, right? Then it has to be Malkmus, he *made* the scene. And he's still releasing excellent music today. He's just the most influential rockstar of the 90s."
"my gay pavement fan uncle gets out of prison tonight and he knows you ratted him out in '06. the only way to make this right is to vote for stephen"
"Pretty please vote for him, my friend loves him and he really wants him to win"
""There were times he refused to speak to his bandmates, pulling a jacket over his head and referring to himself as "the little bitch"." I have also heard him refer to himself as a brat, a queen, a primadonna, a sociopath, and a narcissist. All of these descriptors have made me want to slam him against a wall and turn his neck fun new colors."
"I mean, Pavement is THEE indie band of the 90s. The lowkey snark, Koreaaaa, so much style that it's wasted. And Malkmus is an understated cool rockstar: the hair, the face, Silver Jews! He never ever sold out. He's the 90s."
"the most beautiful man ever he looks like a gorgeous fairytale prince. he has been hot since he emerged on the scene and continues to be so as their reunion tour comes to a close. stephen forever"
"we have to consider the autism swagger. find me a pavement write up that doesn’t spend three paragraphs waxing lyrical on his inability to make eye contact. find me a YouTube comment section that doesn’t have hoards of moms swooning over his flat affect. his refusal to wear anything more formal than a flannel for the first decade of his career? genuinely culturally influential. 30 glorious years of expressionless performances. sunglasses in the dark. so many straight men falling over themselves for him they made a joke about it in the Barbie movie. raw tbh sex appeal. and he’s got a great nose"
"he had a couple of unfortunate haircuts during this period but highkey i would break both of my arms to just be able to make out with him. please vote for SM my life is in danger if you don't"

HI I HAVE A CRINGEFAIL REQUEST FOR A CONCEPT OF MY CRINGEFAIL MAN CRONOS
i feel like he’d be totally delusional, that man has not had a single clever thought in his LIFE
Orderly Anon [💉]
Oh you have no idea... I'd love to try out a proper concept for him! Hope this was long enough?
Yandere! Cronus Ampora Concept
Pairing: Matesprit ❤️
Possible Trigger Warnings: Gender-Neutral Darling, Obsession, Overly flirtatious behavior, Delusional behavior, Stalking, Manipulation, Brief threats of self harm mention (Cronus being Cronus), Kidnapping, Isolation, Clingy, Forced relationship.
Tumblr media
Cronus has been rejected so many times by others I'm not surprised he'd lose it after awhile.
By the time Cronus meets you he could care less if you're a human or a troll.
He just wants someone in a quadrant to love him already.
However, while most trolls are used to a fellow troll partner, Cronus may feel better with a human darling.
That's due to the whole seeing himself as a human aspect he has.
Cronus is a very demanding yandere.
He's needy and does just about anything and everything to get the attention of you.
Cronus would even resort to emotional manipulation to either win you over or make you stay with him. (Threats of self-harm or anything like that-)
Cronus is desperate and demanding.
He'd stalk you and hound you just to have your attention.
He's a hopeless flirt, constantly complimenting and flirting with you to win you over.
He lays the flattery on thick.
He even tries to compose songs for you in hopes of impressing you.
He can be rude and overall a bad person yet tries to play it cool and be caring with you.
He is such a suck up if it means you'll love him.
He's more likely to go for Matespritship yet will honestly take anything.
I imagine Cronus is used to feeling envious so he primarily gets really childish when jealous.
Honestly if you ever did give him a chance he'd probably be easy to control.
Just dangle the fact you'll leave him and he behaves.
Honestly, since he messes with your emotions, do it back and he's humbled.
While he's easy to control in a mutual relationship, I can't say the same if you drive him over the edge.
For the most part Cronus will follow you around like a pathetic puppy.
He's... sad to look at sometimes.
He's used to rejections and envy so he's a bit more patient than you think.
Although the moment that patience falters he can be a bit volatile.
He'll throw a bit of a fit, complaining and yelling about how hard he has it.
He so bad just wants you to love him.
At this point he feels he actually needs it.
He'd be a yandere to eventually just kidnap you if he feels he could lose his chance.
In his eyes you are his last chance of being loved.
No one else likes him so he is really desperate to have you.
If Cronus snapped he would isolate you in a room away from anyone else.
After all, if he isn't going to have you willingly, then he might as well take what he wants!
He's waited long enough, hasn't he?
Cronus does not seem like a violent yandere.
He's dramatic and emotional, he's more likely just to be an annoyance if he hates someone around you.
Can't see him killing anyone.
Be it you joined him in a quadrant willingly or not, Cronus is physically affectionate.
I like the HC people have that violet and/or fuchsia bloods feel cold to the touch due to being aquatic.
Cronus certainly craves your warmth and feels cold when he gives physical affection.
He has a poor sense of personal space so he is very clingy.
Cronus may slightly be a worship yandere, as I said before he'll do anything to appeal to you.
He is incredibly delusional.
Even if he has you locked away where only he can see you, he still thinks there's a chance you'll love him willingly.
He feels somehow you hold romantic feelings for him and is going to fish them out somehow.
He thinks that he's the only one for you.
He isn't really a giving yandere.
For the most part he takes.
He takes affection, attention, warmth, etc....
However he also intends to try to make you happy as his partner to keep you.
Cronus feels like he'd be an entitled yandere due to his demanding traits.
He feels you're his and is willing to take what he feels is his.
He may say blood color doesn't matter but he's still just as entitled as any violet blood.
Overall the primary traits of Cronus is the fact he's demanding, dramatic, clingy, flirtatious, lacks boundaries, delusional, and is very desperate.
He can possibly be controlled if you agree to being his partner.
He will take time to snap, but when he does, he comes in full force.
Cronus is willing to play nice with his darling if they are willing to go along with it.
The moment he realizes he isn't getting anywhere with you, however...
Well... then he's done playing nice, isn't he? It's about time he gets what he wants.
