Chapter 9
Word count:3670
Warnings slight smut ,
Spring break went by in a flash this year especially when your having fun.Not fun getting drunk in a club or a beach but fun with someone you care about .I stayed home my whole week with Eddie watching movies and baking cookies,he even showed where he had his sweetheart hidden and i got it out and put it next to the bed how he had it before .
During the week Dustin and the guys came over as well and were shocked to see Eddie's guitar by my bed. They asked where I found it .
With Eddie's permission I showed them the secret door behind the closet ,well it wasn't even a door it was a shoe shelf that had a hidden room on the back.
The guys didn't ask any questions at all, just Dustin he asked how I found if it was hard to see it was a door.
He also caught me talking to myself and giggling to a joke Eddie had told me while i was at the kitchen getting the cookies i baked.
He didn't tell me anything but he gave me a weird look. I know I looked crazy. I know I really did but I wasn't because I could see Eddie and he was here all the time. But to other people I was just talking to myself and not to the metal head.
When Monday arrived my alarm rang at 6am. I got up to turn it off but couldn't find my cell phone until I opened my eyes and I saw Eddie holding it in his hands trying to turn it off.
But he wasn't successful because my alarm kept blaring loudly,
"What are you doing?"i rasped, sitting down in the bed staring at eddie sleepily
"I'm trying to turn it off."he said looking at the phone really concentrated trying his best to turn the alarm off.
"I'll do it."I got up and took the phone from him ,turning off the alarm.
"I don't understand how I can pick it up but can't scroll through it?"he plopped on the bed like nothing I thought he was going to go through but he didn't.
"I don't know Ed's.'' I yawned walking down the stairs to go to the bathroom to get ready for work.
"Ed's ? I like that."I heard him say before closing the door to the restroom.
The week went by like slowpoke ,stressing as fuck but today was Finally Friday i have been waiting for this day for the whole week to finally be able to Spent some time with Eddie without having to work or grade papers.I had promised him that this weekend I was going to spend the weekend with him. No paper grading, no teacher stuff, just Aria and Eddie time watching movies and having a relaxing weekend.
A relaxing weekend with my ghost friend. Finally I'm gonna be able to lay down and watch movies with Eddie while he comments on how stupid and corny the movie is ..
Because I know I'll be watching "The notebook." Again for the millionth time.
Working with teenagers is so tiring and stressful , especially when they tend to be little Assholes who don't want to do their work and still expect me to pass them .Because they are in athletics and they think they deserve privileges but for me every student is the same .
So I need to distressed myself,I actually told this to Claire and she told me the only way to distressed myself is to get laid.
That's all she thinks about but maybe she's right but I just don't want to have sex just with anyone. Maybe I'll just use my little pink friend that's hiding in my vanity.
But not tonight because Eddie was going to be here and it's supposed to be Eddie and Aria time. relaxing night with my ghost roommate .
I open the door to the apartment slowly trying to catch Eddie off guard, maybe like that I can find out why he left in a rush after school he said he had a surprise for me..
"Eddie ." I called out to him when I walked in,but I got no answer from him ,he was probably at the hospital he tends to go when his uncle is there .
He tells me his uncle talks to him, tells him about his day and how he misses him.
"Eddie." I called again but still no answer so I decided to go shower and take a nap and wait for him to get back . I was so exhausted and my feet were killing me .I don't know why I decided to wear heels to work.
Ring ring ring
I look at the phone ringing on my hand. It was Claire. I wonder what she wants ..
"Hello." I answer
"Babe get ready, we are going out, I got you a hot date."
"What ?who? “
“Don't worry about it just get ready, meet me downstairs in like two hours okay bye love you ." And she hung up on me leaving me speechless .
"Aaaaaa." I stomp my way to the bathroom to take a quick shower.
Yes, like a little kid who just got grounded ..
I mean I don't have to go on this date. I know that but Claire is right. I need to get out there and get laid. I can't stay home all the time ..But why doesn’t it feel right going out with someone that isn’t Eddie .
I really wish it was Eddie that one taking me for a date.
But unfortunately he is not .
So I took a shower and got ready putting on my black long sleeve turtleneck shirt with a black and red plaid print mini skirt and my black boots. I mean we were just going for coffee downstairs right?
It was karaoke night in Eddie’s cafe “Hellfire.”
Why do I keep thinking about Eddie ?
When I’m going on a date with someone else.
I grabbed my purse and before leaving I call for Eddie again but he didn’t respond .I was wishing he did because if he had answer I would have stay with him rather than going on this blind date .I close the door behind me deciding to go through the exit that led downstairs to the coffee shop ..
It was faster than going all the way around the alley to the entrance ..
Ok breathe Aria everything is going to be fine, I'll make it just in time to go back and watch movies with Eddie before time passes. I'll be in my pjs laying down next to Eddie watching "The Notebook ." Or maybe "click ." Who knows
"Babe!!" Claire shouted from where she was sitting .She was with a pretty girl a bit taller than her that had cute freckles and next to her with his back to me was a guy with curly hair around our age .
Wait, I think I know that guy, he looked so familiar ..
I stood frozen in place when I realized who it was.
"Gareth ." I said softly as he stood up to greet me .
"Aria ,what a surprise I-I really didn't expect to be you ." He chuckled
"Yeah .me either ." I chuckle nervously
"Hey ,there you are, I have been looking for you ." Eddie's voice comes from next to me .
I spun around fast when I heard his voice without even caring I was in front of people .He gave me the biggest toothy smile .
“Hi.” I mouthed and fumbled with my purse trying to get my cellphone out and pretending to be in a call. And signal to Gareth and Claire that I'll be back .
"Hey ,I called you but you never answered ."
"Sorry ,sweetheart, I got stuck in the hospital with my uncle ."
"It's ok Eddie ." I whisper
"I have a surprise for you ." He smiled, showing me his toothy grin .
"Yeah ,what is it?"I flirted
"Well, you're gonna have to go home and see for yourself ." He takes a hold of my hand and I gasp when he actually grabs it and I know to the naked eye it might have looked weird but for me it felt amazing .
It wasn't that warm feeling I was expecting .
"Come on"he says looking back at me over his shoulder .
I kept my phone in my ear while holding it with my other hand .
"Just give me 30 minutes or 1hr ." I said softly
"Why?" He spun around looking at me
With a confused face .
"Claire set me on a blind date ."I looked down, not wanting to look at him. I felt like i was cheating on him,i mean we were not actually dating or nothing we were just friends but the face he made the way his eyes changed those damn puppy eyes .
The way his smile faded the moment I said date I felt so bad I wanted to run back to the apartment and change into my pjs and curl up in my bed to watch movies with him.
Eddie glances back at Gareth and Claire .
"Your date is Gareth?" He raised a brow .
"Yeah ,sorry it was something unexpected ." I felt so fucking bad when I saw the way his expression changed .
"Yeah ,it's ok don't worry I'll wait for you at the apartment .''and just like that he disappeared making me feel like shit .
"S-sorry it was my mom." I lied ,Claire knew damn well I was lying because my mother rarely calls me.
"It's ok, don't worry ." Gareth smile at me politely
I looked around to find a place to sit when Gareth taps the space next to him so I just sat down waiting for this date to be over so I would be able to go home and spend the rest of the night with Eddie.
"Hi." He smiles
"Hi."I replied .
30 minutes passed and Eddie appeared suddenly next to me, scaring me, making me jump a little .
"Are you ok ?" Gareth noticed the little jump I did on my seat.
"Y-yeah sorry I got startled ."
I chuckled nervously
"Hey." Eddie smiles putting his arm around my shoulder "im able to touch you that was part of the surprise."he whispers in my ear making me giggle .Gareth gives me a weird look.
Sorry Gareth, I know how it looks.
"Hey ." I whisper for only him to hear. .
"I-I was bored so I decided to come
Down here, plus i miss hanging Out down here sometimes when I couldn't sleep I would
Come down to the coffee shop and play some
Songs for whoever was here ." Eddie tells me .
"I would love to hear your band playing ."
"Yeah ,we were amazing ." Gareth answers me .."Eddie always had faith we were gonna become something big and we did but then Chrissy had to ruin everything ." He sighs
"What do You mean?" I leaned back on the couch taking a small glance at Eddie next to me who leaned his head on my shoulder.
A small sigh came out of my mouth when I felt his head on my shoulder. The feeling I was feeling wasn't normal. Instead of feeling the heat of his body I felt a tingling sensation that made me feel happy. I could touch him but I didn't feel his warmth. I just don't know how to explain it but it felt good..
"Why didn't you tell me?" I whispered to Eddie
"I didn't think it was important ." he shrugged while playing with the hem of my skirt.
I wonder if people could see the hem of the skirt moving?
"It is !!You're some big rockstar." I whispered and I noticed Claire kept staring at me while I was talking to myself while Gareth was having a conversation with Claire's date Robin when he realized I wasn't paying attention to him.
"I was, not anymore ." Eddie says sadly
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
As the night went on Gareth kept making moves like stretching his arm and putting his hand over my shoulder to which Eddie found it super funny because he said he thought him that one .
Eddie kept leaving and coming back he would sit next to me or sometimes he would sit next to Gareth messing with his hair making Gareth turn around .
Eddie was having the time of his life .
Gareth tried holding my hand but Eddie moved it as soon as he saw Gareth making the move .
"Sorry ." I apologize to Gareth "I got startled." What kind of apology is that?
What should I tell him?
Your ghost friend pushed your hand away, sorry.
At the end of the night Claire and Robin left leaving me and Gareth Alone.
Claire wink at me and wiggle her eyebrows mouthing"fuck him."i wasnt planning on it ,It didnt feel right at all especially with Eddie by my side 24/7.
I invited Gareth over to my apartment for some drinks because I felt bad living him there ..
Poor Gareth looked Nervous and so was i?
I don't even know what I was doing .
Eddie had left a while ago and never came back when I invited Gareth to the apartment .
So now here we were Gareth and I sitting down on the couch with drinks in our hands in some awkward silence and Eddie was nowhere to be found ..
Then suddenly I heard Claire's voice in my head .
"Babe ,you need to get laid, one night stand is all you need ." I gulp chugging the last of my beer and turn to look at Gareth who was already looking at me .I mean it can't hurt right?
"Hey ." I didn't even let him respond because I leaped into his lap straddling him not even thinking twice I crashed my lips on him .
Maybe it was the alcohol in my system or Claire's voice in my head.
He instantly gripped my hips holding me closer to him .
"It's just meaningless sex." I kept telling myself over and over again but somehow Eddie kept coming to my head. I felt like I was cheating on him, I mean it sounds crazy the kiss didn't even feel right i kept imagining Eddie instead of Gareth and that somehow made me so wet imagining Eddies plush lips on mine letting me enter his mouth my tongue exploring every bit of his mouth while he led out the prettiest of moans.
Eddie and his stupid smile.
Eddie and his plump rosy lips .
Eddie's beautiful curls .
Eddie's hands on my neck .
Eddie's stupid beautiful chocolate eyes that drive me crazy those doe eyes that melted me .
Why was I thinking of Eddie while I was over here dry humping another guy.
Jesus Christ !! I scream from the inside but never pull away from Gareth .
I could feel how hard he was under me and the only thing that came to my head was how Eddie would feel under me?
I hadn't even realized that my skirt had lifted up around my waist revealing my red lace panties that covered nothing .
"Fuck ." Gareth groaned when he felt my bare ass on his hands.
"If you keep doing that you're gonna make him
bust in his pants ." I jumped almost falling back on my ass but if it wasn't for Gareth gripping my hips .
Eddie was sitting down next to us not looking at me nor Gareth .But looking down playing with his rings twisting them around in his fingers.
"Jesus Christ ! "I gasped
"Enjoying your night sweetheart ?" Eddie finally lifts up his head and looks at me .His eyes weren't the normal brown I adore ,tonight they looked darker holding anger or a hint of jealousy behind them .
I didn't know what to do .I needed to stop this.
My eyes were on Eddie the whole time while Gareth kept kissing my neck ,my collarbone and up my jaw.
I was frozen in my place. I couldn't move. I wanted to get up but I was like a deer stuck in headlights.
Eddie suddenly stood up pulling me by my arm, surprising me and surprising Gareth as well .
"S-sorry ." I stuttered "I-I thought I was falling down."I told Gareth who looked so pretty with his Lips swollen from all the kissing .
"I-I think I should go ." He stands up trying to cover the huge boner with his hands .
"Ok." I smiled and walked him out the door .
I waited for him to have completely left before I started calling for Eddie .
"Hey ,sweetheart." He appeared laying down on the couch ."I'm gonna have to burn this couch."he scrunch his nose
"What was that about !"
"What ? " he tried to act all innocent ,like
He didn't just pull me from Gareth's lap.
I was going to get up myself i didnt need any help.Maybe a little.
But still he didn't have to do that.
Poor Gareth, what was he going to think of me?
I was going to let him down easy and nice, not the way Eddie abruptly pulled me.
"Oh,when I pulled you from Gareth's lap ." He stands up putting his hands on his front pockets ."Well ,I-I stopped you from making a mistake, something that you would regret in the morning ." He stands balancing on his heels.
I mean I was already regretting it Eddie but thank you for worrying ..
"Thank you Eddie so much." I said sarcastically stomping over to my bed undressing myself on the way not caring that Eddie was following me ..
I put on my stupid tiny shorts with the metallica shirt that belonged to Eddie and went under my covers covering myself all the way to my head .
"You're so annoying !!!"
"No,sweetheart I'm adorable ." He scares me when he appears under the covers next to me..
"Jesus Christ Eddie !!"
I didn't even bother standing up. I stayed in my bed pulling down the covers to my waist and looking up at the ceiling .
"I'm sorry ." I heard Eddie say
"You should be ." I gave him a side eye.i don't even know why i was mad?
I didn't want to do anything with Gareth.
Maybe it was the fact that Eddie saw and i felt embarrassed to even look at him right now.
"I-I just got jealous because I thought we were going to watch movies ." He says in a sad tone .
"I'm sorry Eddie I know I'm awful but Claire had set me up on this date and I couldn't say no I know that's no excuse I'm so sorry I'm an awful person."
"You wound me sweetheart ." He pretended to stab himself with an imaginary sword right through his chest ,falling back in the pillows sticking his tongue out making me giggle .
"Eddie !" I giggle ,he opens one eye to look at me .
"You changed me for a one night stand sweetheart that hurts ." He pouts
"I'm sorry Eddie ." I couldn't even look at him. I feel So ashamed for what I had done. But I mean is not like Eddie and I are an item I -I mean we are just friends ,if that's what it is .
"We can still watch movies ." I tell him
"Well that's a good thing then ." He stands up and grabs a remote from my vanity that I have never seen before and presses it and from the ceiling there's a white screen coming down bigger than my vanity and my tv .
"Where did that come from?"
" I kind of left a note to Steve saying it was you telling him that the screen was stuck so he came while you were working to fix it .I had it installed a few months ago well for me was months ago but apparently it's been two years and 5 months with two weeks for everyone else ."
"This was the surprise you had for me ?"Now I feel worse,Eddie had all this plan out for me and I was going to ditch him for a one night stand.Im such an awful person.
"Yeah ." He covers his face with a strand of hair hiding his pretty dimples from me.
"C'mere Munson, let's watch some movies ."
I tap the space next to me and Eddie crawls over next to me putting his arms on the back of his head .
"Choose the movie sweetheart."
"I'm thinking of click ." I connected my laptop to the projector and pressed play .
By the end of the movie where Adam
Sandler is running in the rain following after his wife im already in tears.
From my peripheral I see Eddie looking at me .
"What ?" I sniffled
"Are you really crying ?" He smiles tenderly
"Yeah ,he shouldn't have done all of that. !!"everything comes out as a high pitch squeal
"c'mere"he coos and I scoot over closer to him, not close enough but close enough that he could put his arm over my shoulder. I wish I could feel him.
"I'm sorry."i whisper keeping my eyes on the screen
"Huh?"he asked
"Sorry for kissing Gareth i don't know what i was thinking i swear i didn't want to do anything the whole time i was thinking of you.."i shut up as soon as i heard what i had said i stood up from the bed fast far away from Eddie i can't believe i had just said that.
"What?"he asked
"N-nothing."i stuttured i pace around the room talking under my breathe "what the fuck!!"
"Repeat what you said?"He was now standing in front of me stopping me by putting his hands on my shoulders.
"Please don't make me say it again Eddie.'' I close my eyes, cringing hard .
"Please."he said almost as a whisper
I gulp and look at his beautiful doe eyes "I was thinking of you,"
"Why?"he ask cupping my face. How I wish to feel his hands but all I felt was that tingling sensation and cold.
"Because I like you."

If time-travel existed, you would be on the first time machine and head back to 2 years ago. A time when you had a free schedule and were able to go out on Friday nights. A time when you felt confident in yourself and were raring to pursue theatre. A time when you didn't have this job (cause apparently, theatre is impossible to get into) that forces you awake at 4 in the morning for the opening shift.
You can't say you don't love your Barista job because you do. Still, when your alarm wakes you from the beautiful dream of performing on the big stage, you have to use everything within yourself to crawl out of your sheet cocoon… and that is unacceptable.
What's even more unacceptable is the fact that your co-worker, Jimin, hasn't arrived at the Academia Cafe yet. You have about 30 minutes to prepare for the morning peak; brew coffees, set up the bakery items, clear the boards "coffee of the day," etc. The problem is, it takes up all of the 30 allotted minutes— and you can't start prepping early because Jimin has the keys to the cafe.
You’ve worked at the Academia Cafe for about a year now, taking a break from your endless theatre audition schedule— since that was getting you absolutely nowhere. No matter how badly you want it, nothing seems to work. No matter how many times you practice, it never seems to be good enough. Let’s just say, you took this job at the cafe because you were over the repetitive let downs.
… But here you are, with a “Jimin being late” let down.
[To: Jimin ☕️] hey, you almost here? times ticking, keys!
You stuff your phone into your winter coat pocket, the brown material catching snowflakes as they fall gently from the cloudy sky. You love this weather; it's always been your favorite. When you were little, you used to pretend to be a dragon; running all over your front yard and releasing heavy breaths that chilled in the air and spread like smoke. You don't enjoy the cold, but the entire feel of winter has you cozying up in a blanket with hot cocoa and a good book… nothing could beat that.
A buzz in your pocket catches your attention.
[From: Jimin ☕️] Hey! Look up.
Your eyes immediately lift to see Jimin smiling a few feet away, shuffling through the snow as he drags the keys out of his pocket. He's sporting a heavy blue coat that reaches down to his knees — making his short stature appear even smaller — topped with a matching blue beanie. Despite his tardiness today, you’ve always been fond of Jimin. He's like a ray of sunshine, beaming through the skyscrapers of the city and making everyone around him happy just by flashing a single smile. Honestly, you wish you could sneak some of that happiness from him and lock it somewhere safe... so you can save it for a time when you need it most.
"Your timing is impeccable." He laughs, gently placing the keys into the front door lock. "You texted me right as I was rounding the corner."
"I'm telling you, Jimin; we're always on the same wavelength."  Smirking, you make your way through the doors of the cafe, greeted by the warmth that surrounds you like your sheet cocoon did this morning, but accompanied by the smell of fresh coffee. "Except for the fact that you, my friend, are late, so now we only have twenty-eight minutes until opening."
Old, rustic book pages litter the cafe's dark walls, executing the dark academia theme flawlessly. You have to give the interior designers a hand, what with the black stools and high dark wood counters etched with different story pages. You wonder if anyone took the time to read the stories that covered the cafe; maybe the stories moved them in a personal way. Maybe there was a reason why they read them, a part of the butterfly effect of their life.
With a quick survey of the main room, you shuffle into the back to put your belongings away. "You would think it would be less busy on the streets because of the snow," Jimin calls, already working on the first batch of light roast coffee. "But unfortunately for me, that was not the case, and I nearly lost my life multiple times on the way here because of how slick it is."
A laugh emits from your lips, echoing in the backroom as you throw your apron over your head.
You begin with date labeling all of the pastry items, placing them accordingly onto the pastry cart; croissants, muffins, scones, etc. Then, you move onto organizing syrups and setting toppings along the bar where drinks are made. Bar is your personal favorite position-- since you're able to make the drinks… Plus, you're so busy that your shift goes by way faster. The sooner you're done, the sooner you get to go home and sleep.
“All set?” Jimin questions when you finish setting the steaming pitchers next to the espresso machine, tossing the rag he used to wipe down tables into the sanitizer bin. You give him a nod, taking a quick once over of the bar. “Alright,” he claps, “let's do this.”
This morning runs like every Friday morning, busy and fast. The sounds of coffee glasses clinking and the calling of customer names at the hand-off station echoes through the air.
Ahhhh, the scenery in coffee shops; the quiet hush over the room as soft jazz plays over the speakers. It’s soothing, all encompassing, and extremely helpful for motivation… You used to go to a local cafe for homework when you were still in school.
You take a breath, relaxing against the back counter as you overhear a conversation a group of regulars are having. It’s the usual small talk: the weather, families, sharing pictures of recent events. Coming up with questions of the day for customers becomes easier after knowing their stories, so you subconsciously listen in often.
Because of this, you almost don't notice the man waiting at the register, wholly delved into the neighboring conversation— only looking over when you hear your name called.
"Y/n?"
You turn your head, catching eyes with the stranger behind the counter who holds his credit card ready. The first thing you notice is that he's young, probably around your age, wearing a brown turtleneck and white slacks. His eyes are dark, standing above his perfectly sculpted nose and lips. His hair is dark as well, forehead drowning within the wavy bangs that fall over his eyebrows as he takes you in. To be completely honest, he's probably the most handsome man you've had the pleasure of seeing… is that weird? You don’t know him… maybe that is weird.
The second thing you notice is that he looks completely anxious, hands grasping the edge of the counter like there's a thousand-foot drop below him. Why is he looking straight at you while doing that? Maybe you should call Jimin to take ove-
“Is it really you?” He questions, taking you aback.
"I-" You clear your throat, walking forward to meet him at the register, "I'm sorry, do I know you?"
With an intake of breath, he releases the counter as he studies you. Was he… crying? You swear his eyes were not this bloodshot three seconds ago.
"You-" He pauses, taking another sharp breath and running a hand through his hair. If you thought he couldn't get more attractive, you were wrong. "Do you know me?"
Attractive? Yes. Psycho?...possibly.
You shake your head slightly, “I… I’m sorry. I don't-"
Wait… is he a regular? You swear you haven't seen him come into the cafe before. Shoot.. What if he is? The number one thing your boss has made perfectly clear: remember the regulars, so they come back and feel at home; recognized. Customer connection was the most important thing at the Academia Cafe… He's probably a regular.
“I’m so sorry, there're so many people that come to visit us and sometimes I forget the regulars!” You apologize. “That’s my fault… remind me of your name again?”
He's staring at you. Full-on staring, jaw slacked. Shifting uncomfortably in your keds, you eye beside you to see Jimin working away at a macchiato. You consider changing places, nearly walking over to him before the customer speaks again.
"It's- It's Taehyung."
You force a smile, nodding while he continues to stare at you. He seems a bit more hesitant, his eyes looking in different directions but ultimately falling back onto your own. Even if he tried, he couldn't hide the rosy color that spreads onto his cheeks. What was this guy's problem?
"Taehyung! Awesome, well, what can I get for you today?" You chirp, attempting to brighten up your increasing discomfort. He might have mistook you for someone else, you decide, jumping back into your customer service personality: kind and quick to the point.
Taehyung doesn't move, training his eyes on you. You've never had a man's undivided attention before, since boyfriends were never an option. When you were a teenager, you stayed home most of the time in your hometown, and the boys there were all just in it to take your pants off. You avoided them and never really caught their attention, so you can't help the uncomfortable blush that grows on your cheeks. It’s short lived though, your nerves dissolving as soon as you notice a single tear fall onto the front of his shirt.
Oh. Okay, he’s definitely crying.
"Sir..." You begin, leaning in closer to avoid drawing attention. "Is everything alright?"
"I…" The shake in his voice is evident as he puts his credit card back into his wallet, still refusing to break eye contact. “Excuse me." Without another word, he turns on his heel and rushes towards the exit, clocking a customer in the shoulder in his rush. He apologizes quickly, bowing to them before glancing behind to make eye contact with you once more.
You wish you could read minds, wondering what the hell is going through his brain… but you notice the tiniest gleam of a hopeful smile that hides on his lips.
And then he’s gone.
“I swear it was the strangest thing, Jimin.” You speak nervously, tugging at the strings of your apron and lifting it over your head. It had been busy all day, despite a quick thirty minute break when everyone had left and the cafe was suddenly a deserted island. You appreciated the busyness, it made your shift go by faster. Right now, all you wanted to do was go home, eat a fat bowl of icecream and distract yourself from the events of today with a movie. Thank God your shift was over.
“Maybe he thought you were someone else?” Jimin insists, taking a bite into the extra Blueberry Muffin you’d accidentally heated when you were distracted by the events that occurred earlier.
“Yeah? Well, I must be the spitting image because he was totally freaked out.”
“You never know, y/n. Or, maybe he just used that as an excuse to talk to you.” You could hear the smirk in his voice, throwing your rolled up apron at him harshly before you grab your belongings.
“Ha, ha, you’re hilarious. This guy looked like he had seen his ex… He was crying. I don’t think he was into me.”
“Maybe his eyes were watering from the cold wind?” He offers.
“Enough to cry actual tears?” You scoffed, “C’mon Jimin.”
He shrugs defensively, picking up his things so the two of you can head out a few minutes earlier than usual. Whenever the baristas have a chance to leave early, they take it. “If he comes back, then ask him: hey, dude, what’s your deal?”Jimin works his way through the cafe, throwing an excess chair upside down onto the table with the rest of them.
You hold your hand above your heart, which is still beating at a faster pace due to this discussion. Can hearts even beat this fast? This can’t be healthy… “Oh wow, you have such a way with words. That definitely won’t make him feel uncomfortable!”
Yes. Sarcasm coping mechanism.
“Y/n.” Jimin meets you at the door and puts his hands on your shoulders, making extra sure he has your attention. “Go home. Don’t think too much into it… He was probably high or something and mistook you for his ex that dumped him and now he’s moping through the city and getting into all sorts of trouble and he’ll forget that he even came here tomorrow morning. Okay?”
You nod slowly, exiting the cafe with Jimin on your tail. "Don't worry, y/n." Jimin adds, "He probably won't even come back." He locks the door and gives you one last thumbs up before heading in the opposite direction, calling out at the last second. “See you tomorrow!”
The forced smile on your face appears again (looks like this was a regular occurrence today), waving him goodbye.
Yeah… tomorrow.
Tumblr media
Jimin was right. The handsome crying stranger was probably never coming back.
It has been a few weeks since you met him for the first time. Now, it feels like a distant memory. He hadn’t shown up to the cafe the day after the encounter, or the day after that, or the day after that, and eventually you’d come to the conclusion that he was probably never going to show his face again out of pure embarrassment. You can’t say you blame him. You’d be embarrassed too if you stared at and cried over a random stranger.
Still, you couldn't help but feel a twinge of disappointment... You'd kind of hoped you could figure out what his problem was, maybe ease his mind a little if you really did look like a past lover. You would make sure he knew that it wasn't you. What if he was avoiding the cafe because he literally thought you were someone else? Great… now you just feel bad.
"Y/n? Are you listening?" Jimin beckons over the phone.
"Huh? What?" You bounce back to reality, the soft comforter of your bed lying beneath you as you stare out the window. Thanks to your wonderful apartment search, you have a beautiful view of the city. Jimin had helped you find a place when you first moved here. The two of you had met when you visited to check out the first apartment options; he even took you out for a drink afterward to celebrate the first days' completion. Jimin had immediately clicked with you, as he does with everyone-- he was the kind of person to make friends insanely quickly. He must've been super popular in high school... unlike you.
"Y/n Y/l/n. I am giving you a chance to meet more people, and you're not even listening to me!" He cries, a light smack coming from the other end (probably from him slamming his hand on the table).
"Okay, okay-- I'm sorry. I'm listening now; what's up?"
With a deep sigh, he speaks again. "Party. My house. Tonight. It's not gonna be wild, don't worry... it's just a get-together with some of my friends, and you can have a few drinks if you would like to."
Gnawing at your bottom lip, you look over towards the clock on your nightstand. 5:00. "I don't know..." You begin, the bed shifting as you raise into a seated position. "I have to work tomorrow morn-"
"Already got your shift covered." He deadpans.
"What??"
"I already got your shift covered, so you have no excuse."
This sly guy.
"Who covered it?" You question, setting the audio to speaker-phone as you rummage through old text messages you haven't gone through (to prep for your "thank you for covering my shift" text message).
“Jin.” Noted.
“So…” Jimin continues, “are you coming?”
You can't even remember the last time you met new people, let alone gone to a party. Parties weren't necessarily your thing, especially with your busy schedule of workdays and auditions-- you just never had the time. You should be excited, right?
Well, you aren't.
"Jimin, I don't know… I'm not really a huge fan of parties." You mumble over the phone, picking at the lone string that popped out of its stitch on your comforter.
"Y/n, it's a small get-together, and it's not gonna be that kind of party. Believe me; it'll be really chill. It's just me, you, a few other coworkers, and some friends from my journalism class."
You chew at your bottom lip, looking over at your closet to see a single green cocktail dress that you hadn't worn in years. The memory of the dress was a good one… you had just finished up curtain call for The Addams Family and wore that dress to the after-party. It's a short sleeve, layered green dress that flows just over your knees, the same color sash tying the waist in a floppy bow. You blush at the memory of winning best dressed.
A pause, “Okay.” You conclude. “I’ll go.”
Jimin was honest about how chill it would be; soft music plays in the background as the group sits around the table playing cards. A basketball game is playing on the TV, desperate for attention as a player scores a 3-pointer, but no one is watching. Shuffling of cards is the only sound heard in the room as the game continues.
The atmosphere is calm… quiet…
“BULLSHIT.”
The immediate crumble of everyone’s mood causes the loud “HELL YEAH” that makes you jump in your seat.
"And that is how it's done, Ladies and Gentlemen." Jungkook (your fellow coworker) claps, his smile brighter than the sunset that seeps through the curtains on the opposite side of the room.
"And that's on cheating!" Jimin picks up the cards in the center of the table, gathering them clumsily back into a pile.
"It's called having skill," Jungkook replies, holding his hands up as he smirks at his opponents.
"No, it's called luck." Yoongi finalizes as he puts his hand of cards down on the table with a roll of his eyes. You haven’t met Yoongi before until tonight. He’s one of Jimin's friends from Journalism Class.
When you arrived, you decided to sit out of this round and learn to play before joining the game-- knowing you; you would've been crushed within the first minutes of playing. Card games weren’t exactly a skill of yours— board games on the other hand were where it’s at! That, and charades. For the sake of the party, a card game didn’t sound too bad this time around— so you poke at Jimin to give you the hand as he serves cards for everyone else.
“Wait, wait, wait—“ Jimin pauses, his hand disappearing beneath the table to grab his phone. “Hello?”
“I’m not Irish, so does luck really count?” Jungkook questions in a hushed whisper, nudging Yoongi in the side.
“Oh hey...yeah... it’s apartment 205.” Jimin continues.
“You’re so funny, Jk. Maybe you’ll actually become successful if you choose stand-up comedy rather than becoming a musician.” Yoongi replies nonchalantly, his cat-like eyes staring at the abandoned pile of cards before he seems to come to the decision to shuffle them himself. He gives you a small smile when you hold your hand out to signal that you’re joining in this round.
“Mhm, you can just walk on in! Doors unlocked… okay.. alright, see ya in a minute.” When Jimin's phone is down, Yoongi passes a hand of cards to him.
“Think you can beat me, Y/n?” Jungkook asks,”Since apparently these four can’t?” He motions to Yoongi and Jimin, glancing at the other two players of the game: Hoseok (Jimins other classmate) and his girlfriend, Faith.
“I think I can.” You say, smirking at the determined expression on Jungkooks face. Even if you weren’t very fond of card games, there was one thing you were even less fond of: losing.
“Mmm, might want to rethink that, but okay.” Jungkook replies. The two of you are death staring when the sound of the front door creaking open catches the attention of everyone else at the table. Jimin shoots out of his chair.
“Taehyung!”
You freeze.
"You-" He pauses, taking another sharp breath and running a hand through his hair. If you thought he couldn't get more attractive, you were wrong. "Do you know me?"
Attractive? Yes. Psycho?... possibly.
“I’m so sorry, there're so many people that come to visit us and sometimes I forget the regulars!” You apologize. “That’s my fault… remind me of your name again?”
"It's- It's-."
“Taehyung, you just missed me creaming everyone in bullshit.” Jungkook boasts. Your eyes are glued to the side of Jungkook's head, not daring to make eye contact with the source of your nerves the past few weeks.
“Oh did I?” The familiar, deep voice utters.
Okay.. you can’t help but look…
Holy—it’s actually him.
Immediate regret sinks into your soul when you see him. God, he’s even handsomer than you remember. A white woolen sweater hangs over a pair of his black pants, matched with white sneakers and accenting the head of dark wavy hair you’d been thinking about since you last saw him.
“Yep!” Jungkook continues. “And now Y/n’s about to get shitfaced too.”
The moment his eyes swiftly glance your way is the moment you crumble and turn your head back to Jungkook. You had hoped to make a sly remark, something along the lines of “in your dreams,” but you’re caught breathless from the tension in the room. The tension only the two of you are aware of. He must be tense too, right?
“I wouldn’t underestimate her.” You hear out of Taehyung's mouth, stealing a look at his face once more. He’s smirking at Jungkook, hanging his coat on the hook beside yours, oblivious of the way you’re basically dissecting his every move.
“Have you met Y/n?” Jimin questions, provoking Taehyung's eyes to fall back onto yours. This time, you don’t look away.
He doesn’t answer right away, making you more nervous than you should be— the silence deafening as you make to explain, “We-“
“No.” He states plainly, cutting you off. An innocent smile plays on his lips as he looks at Jimin and places his messenger bag beside the door.
No? Uhhh, was he not the guy who pretended to know who you were and cried in front of you without even explaining why? Nope, it’s definitely him.
“I’m Taehyung.” He calls in your direction, offering you a boxy smile and a small nod, “Don’t let Jungkook fool you. A girl pinched him when we were in grade school. He barely lasted five seconds before running away screaming.” Taehyung moved to the table, sitting beside the man he just brutally embarrassed.
“That girl was terrifying. She was way taller than all the other sixth graders. It was an unfair situation.” Jungkook protested, sinking in his chair as he shuffled the cards he held in his hand.
You couldn’t help but stare dumbly at Taehyung. Was he embarrassed of his outburst at the cafe that he just hopes you forgot about him? You guess you didn’t exactly meet each other, other than a few words exchanged before he disappeared out the door. He probably doesn’t want his friends to know about what happened. Or did he not recognize you and completely forgot about the whole ordeal?
Okay, it’s fine… totally fine.
“I’ll have to keep that in mind,” you laugh, “no more coming in late, Jk. Or I’ll have to pinch you.”
Jungkook merely rolls his eyes, taking a sip of his beer. You see the crinkle in Taehyung's eyes as he laughs, the boxy smile taking root on his face again… a smile you’ve begun to enjoy the look of.
Hey. Snap out of it. This guy is so confusing. That’s a red card.
You straighten up in your seat, catching Jimin's attention when you move towards the kitchen, motioning with your hand to signal that you’re getting another drink. You have a feeling you’re gonna need some more alcohol to get through the evening.
Jimins place is clean, every knick knack placed neatly where it belongs; accompanied by the smell of potted plants that he keeps by his windows. Little name tags are attached to the plant stems: Flo, Sprout, Bob. He names his plants. Sweet.
He, like you, has a great view of the city too, a mid-size window perched above his breakfast nook where a small potted plant (quotabley named “bean”) grows. The city is bustling below as you reach for a beer, shrugging off the fact that you hate beer, but at least the taste will distract you from Tae-
“Hey.” You hear a soft voice call from the kitchen archway. When you turn you nearly drop the bottle out of your hand. Taehyung gives you a soft smile.
“Hey! Uh.. did you want a beer, or are you a wine guy?” You question, cringing at how much higher your voice sounds at his close proximity.
“I— Sorry, neither.” He starts, shoving his hands into his pockets as he makes his way around the island. “I uh- I just wanted to talk to you about something.”
You nod slightly, “Yeah of course… what’s up?”
“Um,” he’s nervous, you notice. “I just wanted to apologize about the whole thing at the cafe a few weeks ago.. I was— not in the right state of mind.” He meets your eyes hesitantly, “you just look like someone I know from a long time ago and it kind of.. took me by surprise, I guess.”
Jimin was right. You offer him a smile, shaking your head in disbelief, “You know what, I truly thought that was the reason… It’s totally fine. I’m not who you think I am, by the way.”
A flicker of something crosses his features at your comment, something you can’t quite pick up, but he changes it quickly to a smirk. “Obviously.” He laughs, “I’m sorry if it made you uncomfortable.. I’m not weird, I swear.”
“Mmm, that’s what they all say.” You tease.
He laughs, a soft sound that you want to hear over and over again. “You’ve got me there.” He takes a pause, placing his hands on the island countertop. “Let’s start over? If that’s okay? I didn’t want to mention it when I came in because I wanted us to have a fresh start.”
You push down the questioning thought of who this woman he mistook you for was, not wanting to overstep any boundaries. “That’s totally okay.. clean slate?”
“Clean slate.” He finalizes.
“Straightforward,” You add, “I like it.”
He gives you a warm smile, the same edge in the way he looks at you dances in his eyes before he breaks it off, sliding the bottle of beer out of your own hand. “Actually, I think I will have a beer. You don’t seem like a beer drinker, anyway.” He turns quickly, smirking at you before striding out of the room. “Thanks, Y/n!”
Protestations die on your lips as he disappears from the room, your beer along with him. How rude. You can’t help the smile tugging at the corners of your lips as you turn back to the cupboard, skipping the beer and pouring yourself a second glass of wine. You weren’t a beer drinker, after all.
Although you weren’t one for parties, you couldn’t help but admit the fact that you were having a good time. No, a great time. All of you are seated in Jimins living room; a plate of chips sits on the coffee table, which was the hot spot of the night (considering there’s hardly any remaining). Others in the group still have a glass of alcohol in their hands, the tipsiness evident by the slurring of their words. You had stopped yourself after half of your second glass, playing it safe since you still have to walk home after the party. You weren’t much of a drinker anyway-- your family history being the root of this decision.
It isn’t the games that made the night this enjoyable, or the food, or the movie that is currently playing over Jimin's television (which, by the way, is Moulin Rouge, because half of the room enjoys musicals, and the other half enjoys regular movies. So, you decided to settle on a movie musical). None of that matters, except the fact that you’ve never felt this carefree in a long time.
For one night, you can put aside your cafe job, auditions, and never-ending to-do lists and just have fun. Real fun. Even in the audition rooms, it has never been fun for you. It’s been nerve-wracking to a fault and always ends with a “thank you for taking the time, but we’ve decided not to accept you this time around,” or a callback, which ultimately concludes with the same grueling fate.
But this is different.
This is a group of people who genuinely want to spend time with you and get to know you… with no “not this time’s” or open-ended questions.
Especially with Taehyung. You’re surprised at how quickly the two of you seemed to hit it off, despite the awkward introduction. Now, it feels like he’s known you for years… in the best way. You’re comfortable talking to him, chatting together during the movie about the plot points or songs you find specifically endearing. You had initially planned to sit next to Jimin… but ended up next to Taehyung on the couch.
It just happened.
He enjoys musicals as well, you learn. Maybe not as much as you do, but at least he doesn’t despise them. He’s one of Jimin’s friends from their shared art class. He loves the color brown. His favorite food is watermelon. He does illustrations for Jimins journalism projects (which, in your opinion, are exceptional from the photos he showed you during the movie while the others were engulfed in the film). He wishes to pursue traveling journalism, where he draws what he sees rather than taking pictures. His whole aura is warm… like a heated blanket that envelopes you whole when you feel him shift beside you on the sofa. A small reminder that he’s still there.
Okay, you’re liking his presence way too much.
He finds romance movies corny but a guilty pleasure nonetheless. This, the reason why he agreed to watch Moulin Rouge despite the cheesiness in the beginning. In the end, it was anything but cheesy.
"Well, that was stupid." Jungkook scoffs, slamming the remote onto the neighboring loveseats' armrest. The once loud room filled with music is now quiet from the after-effects of the movie.
“I told you it was sad!” Jimin exclaims. The two of you had seen this movie before in theatres… and this was nothing compared to how the ending hit the first time. “Y/N was nearly choking. She was crying so hard when we saw it.”
An immediate blush rises onto your cheeks as you shake your head in defiance, trying to hide the tears that had been stinging your eyes for the last thirty minutes. “Who wouldn’t cry at that??”
“Taehyung probably didn’t. He never cries.” Hoseok deadpans. Ha. You can’t help but remember the tear that ran down his face in the cafe… He never cries?
With a quick look over your shoulder, you find that Taehyung is no longer seated on the couch. When did he get up? You attempt to shrug off your curiosity, pivoting back towards the chip table where only sad little crumbs remain. You were worrying way too much over a man you quite literally just met tonight… even if it felt like you’ve known him for much longer.
Taehyung eventually reappeared, stating that he had to use the bathroom— you ignored the fact that it took him a solid 30 minutes to get back to the party. It wasn’t your place to ask any questions, especially since he lifted a smile onto his face the second he reentered the room. See, y/n… nothing to worry about.
It wasn’t long before you insisted you head home, knowing that you’d curse yourself in the morning if you stayed out past the sunrise. If you did, you’d sleep through tomorrow, and that would be awful. You’ve done this a few times… and every time, you felt like you had wasted an entire year of your life.
You move to grab your purse and jacket, which are hanging comfortably on the hook beside the front door. With a small smile, you bid everyone goodnight— smiling as they resume a card game around the table at one o’clock in the morning. It’s nice to know that the group of you hit it off… now; you can look forward to plenty of get-togethers in the future.
Your mind is bustling with all kinds of ideas: picnics in central park, late-night broadway shows, hangouts at the caf-
“Y/n!” The soft calling of Taehyung's voice causes you to halt near the exit, turning on your heel to see him jogging towards you. He had haphazardly thrown his jacket over him since it’s still being tugged onto his body as he runs. His hair becomes even more chaotic in his haste… Why do you want to run your hands through it?
“Hey!” You squeak, interrupting your thoughts before they trudged down a guilty road. “What are you doing? Weren’t you going to play another round?”
He gives you a smirk, catching his breath as he holds out your house keys. “You forgot these! You were really moving fast… sick of us already?”
“Wh— oh my god, thank you!” With a quick swipe of your hand, you’re stuffing your keys into your pocket with a grateful smile. “Also, hardly.”
You admire the way his eyes light up at your confession. “Well.. since you don’t want to leave us so quickly.. how about I walk you home?” He seems almost hesitant asking, but you can’t help but applaud him for actually taking the initiative to inquire.
You shake your head, pulling the strap of your purse farther up your shoulder. “You don’t have t-“
“I want to!” He cuts you off quickly, catching you by surprise as he moves past you to open the door. He glances back, taking in your reluctant expression, “It’s not safe this time of night Y/n… You shouldn’t be alone.“
You know he didn't mean anything by that statement… But the idea of someone genuinely caring and not wanting you to be alone makes your heart swell. Jimin cares about your safety of course, but this feels… Different.
This is the reason why you allow him to walk you home.
The snow crunches beneath your feet, like a symphony that beckons you home. You’ve been feeling exhaustion seeping into your bones for the last ten minutes, but Taehyung's occasional brush of his arm as he walks beside you keeps you wide awake. He doesn’t think to apologize for accidentally touching you, but you blame it on the time of night. Delusion.
“How long have you lived in New York?” You question, wrapping your coat tighter around you to kick out the nipping air.
“About a year now,” He responds, shuffling his feet, “though it feels like way longer. You?”
“Three years.”
Taehyung turns his head towards you, eyes wide. “Wow, way to one up me.” With a teasing smile he continues, “You must know this city like the back of your hand.”
The truth is… you don’t. You came here for the sole purpose of making it on Broadway... you never really took the time to focus on anything else. Part of you wishes you had learned more, craved more, wanted more with your life—then you wouldn’t be so miserable when the one thing you do want doesn’t work out. “Yeah… kind of.”
If he hears the somber tone of your voice, he ignores it, turning against the wind as he walks backwards down the sidewalk. “It’s overrated in my opinion.”
You raise your head at this, “Why is that?”
“Everyone here has dreams… and those dreams get crushed more often than not.” He shrugs, “No one cares if you want to succeed, only if you already have.”
You stare at him for a moment, awestruck by the weight of his words. “But,” he adds, turning back towards the wind, “the ones who never give up and continue to chase that dream can become successful. Despite all of the no’s they might face, they always hold on till they hear a yes. That sounds like true success to me.”
Turning your head, you stare at the side of his face— admiring the way his hair tosses back a bit against the harsh winter winds. His words hit you way deeper than he probably realized, sinking into your chest with an overwhelming sense of accomplishment. You’ve been contemplating recently on whether or not to give up on your dream… that maybe it just wasn’t going to work out for you. You have been trying for so long, and have repeatedly been let down. There was no way Taehyung could have known, which is why his words hit you as hard as they did. Despite the hardships, you’ve been here for three years and you’ve never given up or stopped trying to chase your dream.
That was an achievement, right?
“To be honest… I've heard a lot of no’s in my three years of being here.” You speak softly, tucking a fallen strand of hair behind your ear. “Sometimes it feels like there will never be a yes… but here I am. At least I'm still working— at a coffee shop, not on the stage.”
“It’s admirable that you keep going.” Taehyung glances at you over his shoulder. “It makes you different from a lot of people who have left the city when they faced failure. It’s something to be proud of. Plus, coffee shop or big stage, you’re in New York City and pursuing your gift. It’s special.”
When your eyes meet, you smile at him, feeling a sense of victory the longer you hold his gaze.
“Don’t give up, Y/n. No matter what.” He speaks genuinely, leaning towards you to nudge you gently on your shoulder. You can’t help but laugh at his playfulness, giving him a nudge in return before your eyes downcast to your winter boots. The snow on the ground is fresh, powdery and sticking to the toes of your shoes. “Plus,” He adds, sucking in the chilly air, “you've got what others don’t have…”
This time when you meet his eye he has a serious expression, making sure he has your full attention as you round the corner towards your apartment building. His gaze is genuine, captivating… and a part of you hopes that the close proximity of your apartment wouldn’t cut this moment short. Finally, he speaks.
“You have passion.”
Tumblr media
Taehyung's words weigh on you for the rest of your night. It started off as something simple, looking up audition songs for an upcoming off-broadway show your agent was telling you about. Then, you went to learning it. After that, putting on makeup. And finally, completely forgetting about your sleep schedule and filming an entire audition tape in your room at 2 in the morning (and you were belting… your poor neighbors). It wasn’t until four that you finally turned in for the night, not bothering to take off your makeup or get changed-- simply falling onto your pillow and blacking out the moment you hit it. You were definitely sleeping the next day away… but at that moment, you didn’t mind. Having a day off from your busy schedule wouldn’t be so bad.
Tumblr media
“I sent in an audition tape two nights ago.” You speak confidently, wiping down the back counter that’s littered with coffee grounds. They stick to the rag like glue, tiny dots scattered along its white surface. If it weren’t for your apron,
and your expertly rolled up white turtleneck sweater, you would look alot like this rag right now.
“Did you?” Jimin questions from the bar, sleeving the cup before placing it on the handoff counter.
“Christopher! Medium cappuccino!” He calls, multitasking while he cranes his neck to still hear you.
“I did. I feel really good about this one..” You add, meeting him beside the bar as he lifts the pitcher up and down to create the latte-art of a flower in the center of the mug. You have tried sooooo many times to make latte art… and every time it ended up looking like a glob. A big, distorted snowball. Jimin was the master of latte art, always finishing it off beautifully with a whip of his wrist. The foam atop telling a story. “It was so late-- I was totally out of it… and yet I actually enjoyed myself while filming it. I just imagined being there.. In center stage.”
“I’m happy for you, Y/n!” He smiles, turning to place the hot mug next to the cappuccino.
“Caleb! Medium caramel latte!”
He was only half listening to you. The cafe was bustling, so it truly wasn’t Jimin's fault that he was sidetracked— but nothing could hold back the small smile that played at the edge of your lips. You had actually enjoyed singing for the first time in a while.. all because of Taehyung's Academy Award winning pep talk. Who knew that all you needed was for someone to tell you like it is. With a minuscule smile, you turn back towards the counter and lift the latte you’d whipped up this morning to your lips. Your distorted snowball is fully on display at the top.
Despite the busyness, the front register is deserted, giving you time to think for a moment about the pep talk... or rather, the person who gave you it.
“I think Taehyung likes you.” Jimin deadpans.
Uhhh… You nearly spit out your snowball at that— clearing your throat as you set it down slowly onto the wooden countertop. He speaks as if this is a natural conversation starter… it’s not.
“I’m sorry?” You croak.
“Taehyung.” He repeats, turning his head in your direction with a knowing smirk. “I think he likes you.”
You give him a scoff of disbelief, watching as yet another group of regulars enter through the door. “That’s not true, he just doesn’t know me… so he made an effort to talk to me.” If you weren’t studying the group, you would've seen Jimin giving you a scrutinized look.
So, now you have his attention.
“Y/n. It’s so obvious… He spent the entire night talking to you, he left moments after you did to give you your keys and he never came back. If that isn’t someone who’s interested, I don’t know what is.” Jimin is an expert at multitasking, finishing off two drinks at the same time and calling them out.
“Well, Jimin, when people don’t know each other, they get to know each other. It’s this thing called talking and becoming friends.” The sentence hangs in the air as the doorbell chimes, signaling that yet another customer has entered the cafe and into the swarm of regulars, but the two of you disregard the sound and continue on through your bickering.
“I’m just saying, Taehyung doesn’t usually talk to girls.” Jimin adds, wiping his hands off on the white rag seated beneath his espresso machine. “Even if they wanted his attention, he didn’t give it to them. I mean— he’s nice to girls, don’t get me wrong.. but he’s never talked to them like he did with you on game night. I don’t think he’s dated anyone since he got here.”
“He’s career driven.” You say quickly.
If you thought his smirk couldn’t get any wider, you were wrong. “Yeah, girls don’t know that about him— meaning he told you, and not other girls.” Jimin deadpans.
You stare blankly at him. There’s no way. No way that a guy as attractive as Taehyung would even think about looking at you like that. There’s just no way. You’ve never had a boyfriend... or even a guy friend, until Jimin. Eventually, you’d accepted the fact that maybe you just weren’t that interesting. Maybe you weren’t pretty enough. Maybe you couldn’t flirt…. okay, you definitely couldn’t flirt— but that’s besides the point.
“He’s not interested in me.” You conclude.
“He is.” Jimin counters.
“He’s not.”
“He so is.”
“He’s so not.”
“Y/n. I swear to you. He’s interested and you need to shoot your shot.” He whisper-screams, throwing the rag in his hand onto the bar.
“Taehyung is not-“
A clearing of someone’s throat from beyond the register cuts your argument short, nearly making you lose your balance when you see who the source was.
You’re fairly certain you’ve turned pale.
Taehyung stands in front of you, eyeing between the two of you with an awkward expression. God, how long has he been standing there? “I figured I should step in before the two of you start fist fighting.”
“Hey!” The shrill of your voice causes you to wince.
“Hey.” He says with a smile, folding his arms in front of him and raising his eyes to the menu above your head. You can’t help the glare you send towards Jimin, who's notably holding back his laughter as he moves to the blender, the station farthest from the register. Ridiculous.
“What can we get for you?” You ask routinely, trying not to make it obvious that you were just talking about him… and praying that he wasn’t there to hear what the two of you were talking about.
“Hmm…” He looks especially good today, wearing a brown, long coat and a brown plaid scarf around his neck. He wasn’t kidding when he said his favorite color was brown, that’s for sure. It suits him. His hair is wavy, flowing to a point just under his eyebrows with a split off center, giving you the tiniest glimpse of his forehead. “How about an americano with hazelnut, and some cream?”
“We can do that for ya!” You have to force yourself to stop looking at him, pressing the buttons to ring up his order before you forget. You nearly overlook ringing up the hazelnut syrup. Why were you so dazed? He’s already placed his credit card into the chip reader, but your foggy brain asks anyway. “Anything else?”
“Yes, actually.” He speaks as you move towards the bar beside the register. Grabbing an empty pitcher, you pour the milk inside and reach for the steamer. He drops a dollar into the tip jar, not giving you enough time to thank him for the unnecessary effort before he speaks again. “Are you free later?”

Hey guys! So today (October 6th) is my bestie's (@newkyumilk) bday! And since it's already the 7th of October (Jiung's bday) in korea I decided to post this imagine as a present for my bestie and as a birthday special to Jiung! I really hope you enjoy this 💖💖💖

Tw: Kissing, crying, mentions of trains (let me know if I missed something)
Genre: fluff

Friends come and go, was what everyone always said and you didn't really believe them until you completely lost touch with your childhood best friend, Jiung.
You and Jiung had met when you were both only 5, your parents were good friends so it was only natural for you two to hang out when they hung out.
Jiung had seen all of your awkward phases, and he stuck with you through all of them, well that is until he moved cities without even telling you and that always made you think if you did something wrong or if he didn't want to hurt you.
That was 3 years ago, now you were a college student and you were very focused on your future, wanting to excell so you could have the life you always wanted.
You were very tired from all of the assignements, but you could finally rest as your college would give students a small two week break, and honestly it was just what you needed to relax.
You and your parents had planned to visit some friends in another city, but you didn't bother asking who they were, you just wanted a little get away.
"Honey, do you have everything packed?" Your mom asked as you went down the stairs of your house into the living room where your parents were waiting.
"Yes, I double checked everything!" You said as you reached the living room and sighed.
"You're gonna love these few days I promise!" Your dad said as opened the door for you and your mom.
"I'm sure I will, I really need to rest! I hope your friends are calm people!" But instead of answering, your parents just stared at each other with knowing smiles as they exited your house and locked the door.
You guys headed for the train station and in your mind was only the thought of how th house was gonna be and who were the friends you were gonna be visiting.
All those thought came to a halt when your mom called you to get on the train as it had already arrived.
You got on the train and let your mind run wild. Train rides brought you a certain nostalgia, because you used to ride the train with your childhood bestriend Jiung all the time.
But well, now that he wasn't here you couldn't hope for it to happen again. And besides that he just left you with no trace.
"Honey, hey, sorry to interrupt your thought, but I just wanted to tell you that we're almost there!" Your dad said as he gave you a small smile.
"Ok dad, thanks for telling me." You answered as you looked out the window and saw a field of flower. More specifically one that reminded you of your childhood with Jiung.
Flashback
You and Jiung were 10 years old and were just playing hide and seek in a field of flowers, somewhere you'd go to after school every friday.
"I'm coming!" Jiung said as he tried to look for you as you were hidden behind a bush. You were hoping he'd take longer finding you but he found you with no time.
"Got you!" He said as he laughed cutely and you looked at him laughing as well. "How are you so good at this?" You asked as you both sat down in the grass.
"I played a lot with my cousin last summer, so you better watch out." He said as he tried to look scary, but you just laughed.
You stood there looking at the field when you spotted a beautiful sunflower. "Look Jiung, how beautiful is that?" "It's very pretty! Wait a little bit!" He said as he stood up and disappeared for a few minutes, and when you were about to look for him he appeared with a flower crown made of sunflower and put it on top of your head. "There, now the flower is wearing flowers!" Jiung said as he giggled and booped your nose.
End of flashback
You were already tearing up at the sweet memory when you mom tapped your shoulder for you to exit the train with your parents.
This place looked oddly familiar, but you couldn't wrap your head around where you've seen it, so you decided to wait until you reached the house you were staying at to try and ask someone.
You arrived at the house and as soon as your parents knocked the door opened revealing a couple around your parents' age who welcomed you sweetly.
"And you must be their Child! You're so pretty!" The lady said as she pulled you in a hug.
"I'm sure you'd love to meet my son! He's around your age! TAEYANG!" She yelled with full force. And Taeyang? You were sure you knew someone named like that, but who?
The boy came down stairs and immediately recognized you as he hugged you and told his and your parents that he was going with you to his room.
"Hey! You remember me right? I'm Taeyang, Jiung's cousin!" So that's why you knew him.
"Oh! I do remember you! How are you? I haven't seen you in so long!" You said as you tried to get the conversation going.
"I'm great! Even better now that I'm seeing you! You've grown!" He said with a smile. You both kept talking for a while until he mention Jiung.
"So you're probably wondering why Jiung hasn't beeb talking to you or why he didn't tell you anything about the reason he was moving right?" He asked as he looked at you with his doe eyes.
"Well, yeah, but he probably wanted to cut me off no?" You asked as if it was obvious.
"Do you really think he'd do that? No, he's not like that, he didn't tell you anything, because he knew he wouldn't be strong enough to not break down when he saw you! It wasn't his best decision, but well it's done right?" He said with a conforting smile.
"I appreciate the information Tae, but why are you telling me all of this?" You asked as you were genuinely curious about this random outburst about his cousin.
"Well, I knew you were coming and I also knew about his situation, so I may or may not have invited him over for you guys to talk." He said so fast that if you weren't so invested in this you wouldn't have caught a word he said.
"You what? I haven't talked to him in over 3 years! Tae it's going to be awkward!" You said sounding desperate.
"Calm down! Everything is going to go well! And he hasn't changed! He's still the same as he was when he lived near you! The only difference is that he lives near me now!" Taeyang said in hopes to comfort you.
A few hours had passed and you heard the doorbell ring.
"Oh my god, Tae it's him!" You said as you nervously paced around the room.
"Calm down things are going to go well I promise! And he's gonna come up stairs. If you need anything shout, I'm going to be in the living room!" Tae said as he exited the room to invite Jiung inside.
You were a nervous wreck, but you were still curious about how Jiung would look now, probably more mature was your guess, and as he entered the room you realized your guess was absolutely right.
"Y/n" Jiung said as he ran in your direction and picked you up in his arms. You were so overwhelmed you started crying and you didn't miss the fact that Jiung also shed a few tears of his own.
"I missed you so much!" Jiung said as he let you down on the floor to look at you.
"I missed you too, but why did you avoid me? Why did you hide everything from me?" Although Taeyang had already given you the answer you still wanted to hear the answer from him.
"I was stupid and I didn't tell you because I knew that if I told you I wouldn't be strong enough to actually move, it would be harder so I thought it would be the best for the both of us, But I was so wrong! I missed you everyday!" He said with glossy eyes.
"Oh Jiung I missed you too!" You said as you teared up again and wrapped you arms around him.
When you guys both calmed down you went to the living room where Taeyang was staying.
"So are you guys ok? Are you friends again? Something more?" Taeyang asked as he said the last part softly so only Jiung would hear.
"Yes we're good now! But Me and Y/n are going for a walk, we'll be back before dinner." Jiung announced as you both went out of the door.
You were just catching up while walking until Jiung stopped at the flower field you'd seen while in the train.
"Wanna know something? I came here everytime I missed you badly, because this flower field really looks like the one next to your house!" Jiung admitted as he mitioned for you to come with him.
"Actually, when I was in train I saw this field through the window and I thought back to us playing hide and seek and that one time you made that flower crown for me." You said shyly as you weren't playing attention to Jiung's actions, but when you saw him again you noticed him walking towards you with a sunflower crown.
"Jiung, that's so cute!" You said as he put it on your head the same way he did when you were kids.
"Now the flower is wearing flowers!" He said just like before as he booped you nose.
"Oh my god, I miss when we were kids!" You said as Jiung sat down next to you.
"Yeah, I also miss living next to you! I was so sad my mom got a promotion, I just wanted to live near you!" He said as he scooted closer to you.
"Maybe in the future we'll be able to live close!" You said as the both of you moved backwards to rest your backs against a tree.
"Yeah maybe!" Jiung said as he gave you a knowing smile.
"Ok, I've been keeping this in for like 5 years so I need to let it out!" Jiung exclaimed.
"Go ahead Ji!" You said calmly.
"I like you, well, that's a lie. I love you in a romantic way. And honestly it's okay if you don't feel the same I just needed to tell you!" Jiung said as he was now blushing furiously and you think you were too.
"I actually love you too Jiung. I have since a few years now. And when you left I was so heartbroken, because I thought I'd never see you again." You confessed while looking straight in his eyes.
"But now I'm here and we could do something about these feelings, that is if you want to of course." He said shyly.
"I'd love to, but we're gonna have to do a long distance relationship." You said sadly.
"And what if I tell you we don't?" He said in a questioning way.
"What do you mean? We live quite far from each other." You said while confusion was written all over your face.
"I'm moving again! My mom found a stable job back in your city! We're gonna be able to meet everyday almost all the time!" He said and as he finished his sentence you threw yourself in his arms.
"Jiung that's literally the best thing you could've told me! I love you so much!" You said as you hugged him tighter and felt him kiss your head gently.
"I love you too, so much, you have no idea." He said as he looked deep in your eyes, grabbed your cheek gently and leaned in to kiss you, but before he could reach your lips he lifted his eyebrows as a way to ask for permission to which you granted by nodding and Jiung then kissed you softly.
You guys broke apart after a few seconds to make eye contact and you smiled sweetly at each other, a smile that showed your feelings for one another completely.
"I love you." You said as you smiled at Jiung.
"I love you too." Jiung said as he smiled and leaned in to kiss you again.

Our first scene...
I had met her through some friends and we hit it off instantly. She was so beautiful and I couldn't help but get lost in her eyes as we talked. This talking led to an exchange of phone numbers and the first text from her later that night. The text was nothing special just a simple "Hi this is Megan, really glad to have met you today". I responded that I was glad to have met her too and then we fell into a rhythm of talking via text every few days.
Then one night that texting turned into a phone call and a sly joke about being tied up with work led to an interesting conversation. Megan told me she had always had an interest in kink but was always scared to bring it up with her previous partners. I told her I had slight experience being a Dom but that I was a switch meaning I play both sides of the dynamic. Megan seemed extremely curious and we decided to do a dinner date that Friday.
That day seemed to take forever, I mean don't they always? You get excited for something and then it seems the thing before that event takes forever? You could just sit there and stare at the clock but that just makes time freeze. So I tried to focus on work but it was harder than it should've been to do so. But finally it was time to leave work and I rushed home to get ready.
A quick shower to freshen up, brushing my teeth and then picking out what to wear. I decided on a nice button up with a vest, not too fancy but also not under dressed. My phone went off it was Megan "Hope you aren't planning to skip out on our date now, not gonna get cold feet with it being only an hour away are you?". I responded "Definitely not a chance of that happening, see you soon".
The ride to the restaurant I just played some music that keeps me calm. Dating with anxiety can be hard because the anxiety triggers my overthinking and only leads to bad things. Well not exactly bad things it just leads to me overthinking how things could play out and being scared to do them. So I played a Playlist I made that keeps those thoughts at bay. And before I knew it I had arrived at the restaurant. Now the one thing I've learned is it's always best to be early even if your date isn't just shows what you are there for is important.
Time again slowed as I waited for Megan to arrive. Car after car pulling in and the thoughts of did she get cold feet begin to sink in. Overthinking sucks so much I wish I could get rid of that part of me but alas I can not. Finally I see her walking towards me and it must've put a doofy smile on my face because she just laughed and said "what?". I just said "I am glad you made it" as I opened the door to the restaurant and followed Megan inside. I told the maitre d the name on the reservation for two and they sat us at our table.
A drink and some food later and the conversation finely made its way to kink. I asked Megan what her interests were. She admitted she really liked the bondage aspect, seeing people helpless but smiling. She also really liked the different gags but she had never tried any. I asked Megan if she had any experience with impact play and she told me she had been spanked before but not much else but that she would love to try more. I asked if she had any experience with being submissive or dominant in her past relationships. Megan stated she always seemed to take the submissive role in her eyes but that both roles interest her.
The conversation went back to normal from there just talking about our days and plans for the coming week. The check came and I paid for the meal while Megan covered the tip. I walked her to her car and wished her a safe drive home and I left smiling the entire walk to my car. But that was where our conversation stopped until later that week anyway. Wednesday I get a text that says "so I really enjoyed dinner and our talk and I'd like to explore things further with you".
Now this had me blushing at work do I asked when Megan had free time and we could set something up. Megan told me her weekend was free and I asked about her Friday night. She was free so we decided we would do another date Friday night and if she still wanted to she could follow me home and we could have a scene. But before we do that we had to discuss limits and how we wanted to scene to play out.
So via text we discussed how Megan would like our scene to play out. She said she would like to be bound and I told her I had some cuffs that can help with that as well as some hooks in the ceiling that they can be attached to. She also stated she would like to try some impact play but nothing too crazy this time. I said never anything too crazy your limits determine what we do and how long we do it. I asked if she wanted to try using a gag and she quickly replied yes and I said ok and listed the options I had.
I have a ball gag, a ring gag, bondage tape and well a clothes pin. Megan decided on the ball gag which is always a lovely choice in my opinion but you'll hear more on why soon enough. And then we discussed safewords and signals for when she was gagged. The safewords chosen were the traditional red, yellow, green and for the signal we went with her opening and closing her fist multiple times. I advised we would do a test run before we got into the scene just to make sure we were both on the same page.
The next two days of work went by like a snail and I don't think that is at all surprising. But as the time began to tick down Friday the excitement in me built. Again I drove home and freshened up this time just wearing a button up and the drove to the restaurant for date number two with Megan. Now I know only two dates and you're thinking me and Megan are about to have sex. And to some that may be the point of bondage or bdsm sure but not to me. And if you think back no where in our scene discussion was sex mentioned so that was not on the table for me at all.
So I arrived at the restaurant and this time me being dressed down a bit but Megan did not. Megan arrived in a lovely purple dress that hugged her curves in all the right ways. My gosh I couldn't help but freeze as she got closer and just take in the beauty in front of me. All I could say was wow as I opened the door and followed her in. We ate and as we did I made sure to tell Megan not to rush herself we have all night ahead of us and rushing to eat won't help. I know this from experience as rushing to eat absolutely ruined a scene in which I was the submissive. Take your time let your food settle and don't worry about time I said and smiled.
I think this helped Megan relax as she slowed down and we just had a wonderful dinner and chat. One of those chats about nothing in particular but both parties enjoyed it. I couldn't believe that I was lucky enough to get a second date with her let alone the honor that would be her submission later that night. On this night no drinks were had by me I just wanted a clear head for the nights events which I think is important when I lead a scene. So finally the check came and I asked Megan if she was sure about how she wanted this night to go.
Megan smiled and said I'm very sure and she grabbed the check and quickly handed it back to the waiter with her card. Now that is a simple move but oh I definitely took it as a power move by her. She just had this smirk afterwards that drove me wild. I left the tip and said alright you can either follow me to my place or we can come pick up your car tomorrow your choice. She then decided to follow me home and I thought to myself as the drive began how lucky I was.
The drive felt like forever but it was only maybe 20mins tops. When we got to my place we went over safewords and the safe signal and made sure we were on the same page. Then I brought up aftercare because this is a extremely important piece of the puzzle. I wish I had learned this in a better way but I think our bad moments teach us to be better. Knowing what the other person needs for aftercare is extremely important. And I can say based off experience I will never do another go with the flow scene again. Because it led to me not knowing what a partner needed and them not telling me what they needed but saying I failed.
Hearing from someone you cared about that you failed because you didn't have all the information. That is the worst feeling and one I was not going to repeat with Megan. So Megan being new, she wasn't sure what her aftercare needs were but we agreed on cuddles to start and we would go from there. So I went into my room bringing out cuffs, my ball gag and a length of rope I attached the rope to one of the ceiling hooks. I then sat next to Megan and had her put her hands front of and I secured to cuffs to each wrist. "Now we can do this with your lovely dress on or we can take it off, whichever makes you more comfortable" she smiled and leaned in next to my ear. And with a whisper she said "Oh I am making you take this dress off so you can see whats underneath" and with a giggle she stood in front of me and turned around.
I stood and slowly lowered the zipper on the dress. Then slowly slid the dress down her arms and then down her body. Underneath the dress she was hiding a lovely matching purple lace set. I couldnt help be admire her ass for a moment as I let my hand slide down it. "Wow, you came dressed to impress today didn't you?" I said with a smile as I spun her around after having he step out of her dress. "Well you only get to do your first bondage experience once may as well amaze you the first time right?" She quipped with a smirk.
I giggled and agreed with her as I clipped the cuffs together. "Are you sure this is what you want?" I asked and she confirmed that she did. I walked her over to the hook and had her turn around so I could put the ball gag in her mouth. Once the gag was in place I had her turn around and connected the rope to the cuff chain. "Well look at you all helpless and oh my already drooling" I said with a smile as I wiped up some of the drool leaking down her chin just to show her. She turned a lovely shade of red on her cheeks and I could see the smile in her eyes.
I stood there for a bit just watching her lightly struggle and test the bonds that held her. Now for me I really like gags because they lead to drool which I really enjoy for many reasons. But the other thing I really enjoy about gags is the muffled talking and moans made by the wearer. So as Megan began to struggle I enjoyed watching her slowly drool more and more and the cute little sounds she was making. Watching the drool slowly cause more and more of a shine down her chest.
I went and grabbed my flogger and then turned on the TV. "Well you seem very content there, so I'll let you go about your struggle and see what's on TV." I said and giggled. Megan tried to say you're mean but all that came out was mumbles. "Awwwww you poor thing you have to speak up if you want me to understand you." I started a random show just to make it seem like I wasn't paying attention all the while I kept watching her hands for any signal that she was done or needed to stop.
A few minutes and plenty of drool down her chin later I stop watching TV and walk over to her. "Are you doing ok?" I asked and she nodded and I asked "would you like to do some impact play with this?" As I slid the flogger over her chest. She thought about it for a moment before nodding and mumbling out a "yes please". I start with a few hits watching her to gage her reaction and making sure it's not too much. "Would you like me to do more?" I ask and she nods. This process continues for the next several minutes, me continously asking if she is ok and would like more.
I stop when her butt has the same shade of red as her cheeks did. I quip with a giggle "Awww seems your underwear isn't the only matching set you have now is it?". I untie the cuffs from the rope and then take the cuffs off of her. I then unbuckle the gag and slowly massage her jaw. "Are you ok?" I ask and she says "more than ok that was amazing". I hug her and tell her how proud I am of how she did there and that she took it all so well. I then grab a cup of water and a paper towel.
I hand Megan the cup of water as I slowly clean up the drooly mess she had on her chest. Then I grab a blanket and wrap it around her shoulders. "Would you like cuddles?" I ask and she nods a yes and I lead her to my bedroom. We lay there in my bed for about the next hour and Megan actually drifted off to sleep for about 45 minutes of it. When she awoke I grabbed her a quick snack and some more water. I told her again that I was so proud of how she handled that and asked if any of it was too much. She told me that she felt it was perfect and asked if she could stay the night as it was now 11pm.
I told her that she absolutely could stay and we sat there just talking about how the scene went. She told me that she enjoyed all of it including the impact play and would love to do more in the future. Now it was the next sentence that excited me a bit. Megan turned and smirked at me and said "maybe next time you'll be the one bound and I'll get to make your cheeks match" I began to blush unable to hide the fact that I would absolutely love that and she smiled at me and then kissed my cheek. "I will take these red cheeks as a yes to that then" she said with a smirk as I cuddled her and we both drifted off to sleep.

pairing: jj maybank x reader
summary: y/n has been in love with her best friend, jj maybank, for years and now has to watch him fall in love with another girl, who is a kook.
warnings: swearing and slight angst (?)
word count: 4k (it’s a long one)
a/n: hi! this is my first imagine and i hope you like it. i know it’s a long one i just got carried away :)
2 years. 730 days. 17520 hours. 1051200 minutes.
that's how long i've had to watch the guy i'm in love with be with another girl. two long years of seeing them kiss, hold hands, cuddle, go on dates and anniversaries. all because i was too scared to tell my best friend that i loved him.
two years ago
" yo, y/n ! y/n ! guess what just happened." my best friend since we were kids, jj, said as he ran up to me.
"what?"
"you remember that girl, shay, that i was telling you about? that kook that i met at the kegger last weekend with the long blonde hair, green eyes, slim waist, and fat as-"
"yes, yes. jj i remember." i said cutting him off from finishing his sentence.
"so, i just asked her out and guess what? she said yes!" he said with the biggest smile on his face.
"okay."
"okay? that's all i get? an okay? y/n, this is the hottest kook i’ve ever seen that we're talking about here."
"yeah and last week kate was the hottest kook and the week before that was penelope. this is nothing new j. it's just another pretty girl with big boobs and a nice ass that you'll mess around with for a few weeks maybe even days and then move onto the next girl."
"no y/n, this time is different. it feels different."
"mhm sure" i say not convinced
this is what jj does. he meets a cute kook girl or touron at one our parties, they hook up for a few days or weeks, and he moves onto to the next one. this was no different. however, in that moment, i didn't realize how serious he really was about her until it was too late.
few months after
jj and i were laying on john b’s couch watching movies like we always do every friday night. we've been doing this since we were little kids, usually the rest of the pogues would join us, but they’re all busy tonight. john b is with sarah, kie is working, and pope is helping out his dad. so that just leaves me and jj together.
"um, y/n?"
"hm?" i asked in response
"would you mind if i ended our movie night a little bit early?"
"why?"
"because shay just got off work early tonight and wants to hang out. she's been really busy lately, so we haven't gotten the chance to hang out as much. would you be okay if i left to go see her?”
"um, sure. i guess i can just rewatch friday the 13th again without you."
"really? you're the best! thanks." he said jumping up excitedly to put on his shoes and grab his hoodie, " i mean it's not like we haven't watched this a thousand times already, you'll be fine without me."
"i kinda wanted you here, but i guess she's more important" i mumbled under my breath
"huh?"
"n-nothing. uh, j can i ask you something before you go?"
"yeah sure, but it can't take too long shay is waiting for me."
"are you serious about her? like really serious?"
"yeah, i guess i am. i don't know i've never really felt this way about a girl before. she just makes me feel so happy and i always want to be around her and spend time with her. i usually just get bored with girls after a while and break up with them, but it's different with her. it's something about her i can't explain it." he said with admiration in his eyes.
that's when i knew it was too late. i could see the way his eyes lit up when i mentioned her and how he talked about her with such admiration. he was head over heels for this girl and who am i to step in and ruin it by telling him my feelings. he wouldn't reciprocate those feelings anyways she's the only girl he's felt like this about. i never had a chance against her. i will never be her.
after that day i didn’t see jj for three weeks. he cancelled every single one our plans because of her. “i cant go surfing today, shay wants to go get lunch” “can’t go fishing, shay needs me” “cant make it to the boneyard tonight, shay wants to have a movie night” he bailed on us, on me, all week because of her. the kook girl he just met a few months ago.
finally, after countless begging and excuses jj came to hang out with us at john b’s house. we were all laying on the hammocks outside watching the sunset and for a minute it felt like everything was how it used to be even though i knew it wasn't. you could feel that everything was different especially between me and jj. he wasn't his usual flirty, touchy self with me and the tension in the air was thick. the rest of the pogues tried to act like everything was normal, but we all knew after today it would be another few weeks before we saw jj again. all he did was hang out with shay and he barely had any time for us anymore.
“so, jj since when did you start dating kooks?” john b snickered as jj punched his arm
“since when did you start dating at all?” pope replied
“i don’t know, man. it’s just different with her, i guess. i never thought i could be capable enough to have a relationship, but she changed that. she changed me.”
kie looks at me with sympathy in her eyes. she was the only one who knew about my love for jj. i spent so many nights crying to her about my feelings for him and how i wish things could be different between us. it took a lot to get jj to open up to me, especially about his dad, and i always wanted to be the one he could go to for anything. i was the one who patched him up after a fight with rafe, i was the one who hugged him as he cried to me about his dad, i was the one who went along with his crazy ideas, i was one who did everything i could to get him to love me the way i love him. but i guess things don’t work out the way you want them to. i give kie and a nod and smile letting her know i’m okay. as long as jj is happy that’s all that matters to me. i would do anything to make him happy, even if it means i have to watch him fall in love with another girl.

that's how long the love of my life has been with his girlfriend. six long years of me trying to get over him and find someone else yet i could never get that boy with blonde hair and blue eyes out of my mind. he followed me everywhere i went even when i wasn't with him. he's everything i want in a guy yet i can't have him because he's not mine to have. he's someone else's and now i definitely can't do anything about it because they're getting married today.
today is their wedding and of course they invited me and the rest of the pogues. i debated even going and just letting kie give them my present with my pathetic excuse for why i wasn't there, but after talking to jj about the wedding the other day i couldn’t not go. "i could never have my wedding without you there, y/n. you're one of the most important people in my life." is what he told me. if i was strong i wouldn't care and still not go, but i'm not. all i had to do was look in his eyes when he told me that and i was puddy in his hands. there's no way i can't go and let him down like that. he means way too much to me to hurt him just to spare my own feelings.
i walked into the venue looking around at the setup. of course the kook princess wanted a fairy-tale wedding. i sigh as i look at all the expensive decorations everywhere. i always imagined what my wedding with jj would be like. definitely wouldn’t look anything like this. even after years of all my hard work and schooling i still could never afford something like this. i always thought we’d have our ceremony by the beach since that’s where we first met when we were little kids and spent all our time together. it became our little safe space to get away from everyone and all our problems, and just be together. just me and jj.
“gotta admit it looks beautiful.” pope says as kie hits his shoulder
“it’s okay, kie. he’s right, it is beautiful. more than i could've ever given him.”
“hey” kie says as she grabs my hand, “you sure you’re okay? because we can leave right now. trust me, i really don’t care to see the little princess wearing a dress that costs ten times the amount of my house.”
“it’s fine, kie. we have to be here for him. i’m just gonna go talk to jj quickly.”
“okay, i’ll save a seat for you.”
i went towards the back to find where jj is, so i could give him something before the ceremony started.
"knock knock." i say as i opened the door to jj’s room walking in to see him finishing getting ready.
"hey you. i almost thought you weren't gonna come."
"now why would i miss my best friend getting married to the girl of his dreams? i would never miss this no matter what"
"good because i know i would never be able to do this without you here."
"so.." i say as i sit down next to him, "how does it feel to finally be getting married?”
"it feels unreal. i never thought this day would come. and if it did, i honestly thought you would be the one standing at the end of the aisle"
"yeah, so did i" i say as i laugh weakly.
"i remember we had this whole thing planned out as kids. we were gonna get married on the beach, preferably the bahamas, but you know any beach would’ve worked for us.
"and we were gonna have this huge reception and have our friends give sappy speeches talking about how we've been friends forever and despite the “no pogue on pogue macking” rule we still ended up together and got married." i added.
"and our honeymoon was gonna be in mykonos. we were gonna get a suite with a pool and relax all day and then turn up at night at the clubs there." he said as we both laughed.
"wow. we had a lot of plans when we were younger."
"we really did, but i guess none of them really worked out huh?"
"i guess not"
we sat in silence for a moment thoughts both roaming our minds about how we ended up here. best friends since we were little, spent all our time together, always acted like a couple, and yet here we are sitting in this room minutes before he gets married to a girl who isn't me, a kook nonetheless. it's now or never. do i let him know how i feel and finally have this weight lifted off my shoulders or just keep it to myself and let them be happy?
"uh, j? i- um, wrote this letter for you" i say as i take an envelope out of my purse, "it was the original speech that i wanted to tell you at the reception later but felt as though it wouldn't have been right to say, so i just wrote it for you to see. just, don't open it in front of shay, please."
"why can't you just tell me what's in the letter in your speech later?"
"because i would be a shit person if i say what's in that letter at your wedding reception in front of everyone."
"what's in the letter that's so bad?" he asked confusingly
"j-just read it when you're alone, okay?"
"no"
"no?"
"no. just tell me now what's in the letter."
"jj, i-i can't."
"yes you can. what's so bad that you can't tell me now?"
"i don't want to overstep my boundaries or ruin anything or make anything awkward, so just read it later when you're alone."
"no, y/n. tell me right now."
"jj, your wedding starts in a few minutes you need to finish getting ready. we don't have time for this."
"yes we do. i always have time for you."
"jj-"
"no. i'm not leaving this room until you tell me."
"j, don't be difficult."
"i'm not being difficult just read me the letter and this will all be done with"
i sighed, "oh my god fine. i'll read you the damn thing." i take a deep breath and begin to read the letter that might just change everything between us.
"dear jj, i'm not sure when exactly you'll be reading this, but i know when you do you'll be happily married to shay. so, congratulations best friend you're finally someone's husband. i honestly never thought this day would come; you were never one for relationships. always thought it was too much work to handle and you already had enough shit to deal with in your life. remember when we were little we made a promise that if neither of us were in a relationship by the time we were 30 we would get married. as silly as it was i always thought that would happen. that we would be the ones getting married and have our best friends write a speech for us. i'd always imagine kie writing mine and john b and pope would write yours, mainly pope though because we all know he’s way better with words than any of us ever were. but i never once in a million years would think i would be writing one for you and another girl. we've been through so many ups and downs and we still stuck together through it all. you're my best friend and i love you. words can't even describe how much i love you. jj, you've brought me so much happiness and never fail to put a smile on my face. even during my worst times you were always there to pick up the pieces and make me laugh. i never thought i would have someone in my life who means so much to me as much as you do. being around you immediately makes my day a hundred times better and i don't know what i would do without you in my life. my life would've probably been extremely boring and plain without you and your crazy adventures. your smile can make anyone's day better and you always make sure everyone else is happy even before yourself. and that's one of the many reasons why i'm in love with you. yes, i'm in love with you and have been for a while. this is more than a just as friends thing. i'm completely and utterly in love with you and that's never gonna change. and i know it took you a while to believe that someone could truly love and care for you, but i always have and always will. you so deserve so much than life has given you and i hope you know how amazing you really are. i’ve become such a better person because of you and you make me so incredibly happy. i'll never be able to repay you for everything you've done for me. i love you so much. i hope you're happy in your marriage and she treats you right, which i know she does. all i ever wanted was for you to be happy even if it wasn't with me. even though i just dropped this huge bomb on you, please don't let this affect our friendship. i will always be here for you no matter what. i love you, jj maybank."
there was complete silence. jj just sat there staring at the wall not saying a word.
"see this is exactly why i didn't want to tell you in person because i knew this would happen. i-"
"you love me?"
"yes, j i do."
"like actually love me?"
i sighed, "yes and i have for a while as i said in the letter"
"w-why didn't you tell me?"
"i don't know i was always so scared to and i thought you would never really find someone, so i had nothing to lose by not telling you. and then you started dating shay and i could tell you were really happy with her and by the time i realized you two were serious it was too late. i didn't want to step in and ruin anything or lose our friendship."
"you wouldn't have."
"what?"
"you wouldn't have ruined our friendship because i felt the same way. i still feel the same way." jj admitted
"you, what?"
"i love you y/n and as more than just friends. i have since freshmen year of high school when i first told you about my dad and you cleaned up all my cuts and held me in your arms all night. but i was just always too scared to say anything because i thought you were out of my league and i never really deserved you. the only reason i was with all those girls was to forget about you and get rid of my feelings for you, but they never did go away."
"i guess we're both stupid then. we always had these feelings for each other and just never said it."
"i guess so."
"so, what does this mean for us?"
"what do you mean?" jj asked
"i mean this obviously changes things, so what are we gonna do?"
"i don't see why things have to change. yeah we admitted we have these feelings, but that doesn't change anything."
"you're getting married, jj. in like twenty minutes there's gonna be another girl waiting at the end of that aisle for you to go there and give yourself completely to her. and i don't want to stand in the way of giving you and her that happiness you both deserve. me still being here is gonna change things because things are different now whether you want to believe it or not. these feelings are out there and they're still relevant. and i'm not gonna sit here and watch you two be happy and in love and be on the sidelines and feel like shit. i don't deserve that. i don't deserve to have my heart broken seeing you together knowing you have feelings for me and yet i can't do a damn thing about it. and it's not fair to her either to have another woman who you have feelings for sit there and get in the way of her happiness. i'm not gonna ruin this for her, jj. i won't. shay has been nothing but sweet to me and i'm not gonna do that to her. she doesn't deserve it and neither do i."
"so what do you want me to do then?"
"i want you to let me go."
"what? y/n, i love you. you can't tell me to do that"
"let me go, jj. as long as you sit here and tell me that you love me and have feelings for me, this will never end. and we will be going around in circles and i've been stepping on eggshells long enough for you and i'm done. you love her and she loves you, so be happy with her."
"but i love you too y/n and that's never gonna stop." he says with tears in his eyes.
"i know and i will always love you too, but i can't keep doing this. i can't watch you be with her and not be able to do anything. i can't be able to be alone with you knowing how you feel and not do anything to you. you don't know how badly i've just been wanting to kiss you after hearing you say those words to me. you don't know how bad i want this, but jj i can't do this" i say tears running down my face.
"i'll end it then. i'll cancel the wedding and we can be together."
"no. no, jj you can't do that. i'm not gonna ruin this. you've been with her for six years already, you've created this beautiful relationship and commitment to each other and i'm not just gonna ruin that. she's doesn't deserve that. you just need to let me go, jj. let me get over you because the more i'm around you the more the feelings grow. just let me find happiness within someone else.”
"so what? we're just gonna end our friendship? our years and years of friendship is over just like that? i don't want to lose you. if i cant have you in that way, even though i want to so badly, i still want you in my life as a friend."
"but i can't jj. i can't be around you. please, just let me go. let me get over you and find someone else. maybe one day if it's meant to be we'll find our way back to each other and maybe things can work out differently but for now just let me go." i say as my voice breaks
he sighed, "fine, i'll let you go, but only if you do one thing for me."
"what is it?"
"kiss me."
"w-what?"
"kiss me. i've been waiting years to tell you how i feel about you and finally be able to hold you and kiss you, so please just let me do it."
"jj, i don't know" i say hesitantly
"shay never has to know about this and once we kiss it's over. i'll let you go."
"if i kiss you, you'll let me go?"
"yes."
i sighed looking at jj. i actually got a good look of him right now in this moment. he looks so broken. dried tears streamed down his face, his eyes are puffy, and nose is red, but yet he still looks beautiful. no words can describe how jj looks. "cute" or "hot" never did this man justice. he was beautiful both inside and out and that's why i fell in love with him years ago. and as i started to lean it looking in his eyes all the memories we've made together came flashing through my mind all at once. this is really it. after this i'm actually leaving my best friend, who's the love of my life, to move on with my life.
moments later i felt his soft pink lips mold against mine. our lips moved in sync in such a way i have never felt with anyone else before. there was something about the way his lips moved against mine in such a passionate and loving way that i've never felt before. my stomach was immediately filled with butterflies and my mind went blank. all i could do was be in this moment with him. a few moments later it ended leaving both of us breathless. we stared at each other in awe not knowing a simple goodbye kiss would make us feel this way.
"wow. i've been waiting for this kiss for so long and i never knew it would feel like that." jj said
"neither did i.”
as much as i didn't want to, i knew what had to be done next. i stood up grabbing my bag and walked towards the door.
"so this is really it? you're just leaving now. after what we just felt in that kiss you're still gonna leave?" jj asked
"you know i have to."
"no, you don't have to. you want to, there's a difference. but it’s fine you’re just gonna leave just everyone else does, huh?”
don't turn back now. i know what he’s trying to do. he knows how the last thing i ever wanted to do was leave him like countless of other people in his life have done. but don’t let his words get to you. don't turn back now. the decision is already made. if i go back now i'll never leave and end up in the same cycle again.
i turn around one last time to look at my best friend, "i'm sorry. goodbye, jj."
that was the last time i saw jj.
after that i left the venue without saying anything to anyone. i got a ton of calls from kie, pope, and john b asking me where i was. i know they all eventually found out how i felt about him, which sometimes makes me wonder how he never knew, but then again i'm pretty sure they knew he had feelings for me too and i still never noticed. it's crazy how that happens. you could spend every moment of every day with someone and still be so oblivious to how they really feel about you. i guess i was just so caught up in my feelings for him i never noticed all the signs he showed of liking me back.
they always say what’s meant to be will be no matter how long it takes whether it's a day, a month, or a year. well i never really believed in that until now. years later after i walked out of that room, now stood face to face with the guy who was and still is my everything.

chapter 10
You grumbled on the table, your face plastered on it as you pushed your papers on the side. You were in the middle of accomplishing your genetics assignment when you felt exhausted all of a sudden.
It was already Friday, and you woke up at 8 to finish your pending school works before going to your class at 12. After your only class on Friday, you'll be running to your work at 4. Aunt Jinah scheduled your shifts at MTFS, 3 hours on Monday and Tuesday nights, and 5 hours on Friday and Saturday, afternoon to night. It was manageable, though a bit tiring. You just motivated yourself to be used to it.
You almost pushed yourself off of your seat when a mug of hot chocolate was placed beside your face. Your eyes quickly looked at the good samaritan, and softened at the sight of your distant best friend. You haven't heard her gossips and late night talks for the past few days. You wonder if she's still—
"I don't like this." Jiwon mumbled as she sat on the chair across yours. She looked back at you with solemn eyes. "You know I love you, right? I care for you."
"So do I, Jiwon-ah." You sighed, looking at the smoke the heat from the mug emits. "I understand if you don't want to be around me anymore—"
"Oh shut up. This is not where we end our friendship, Saejin!" Jiwon incredulously exclaimed, her eyes wide in displeasure. "We made it work alright these years, right? I'm not gonna leave you alone, either you like it or not!"
You let out a cry as you opened your arms for your best friend, immediately feeling warm because of her embrace. She hugged you tight as if she was getting all her energy from you. You pouted your lips in attempt of refraining yourself to sob louder.
"Even if those people continue to leave you in the dark, I won't. I'll be here, Saejin."
You smiled through your tears, nuzzling your head to Jiwon's shoulder.
"I know you will be. I know."
"Oh really?! That's pretty embarrassing!" Hyoseop laughed out loud, slapping his thighs as he doubled over the couch. "I wouldn't want to see anyone after that!"
You just finished telling him how embarrassing your first date was, two months ago. You were too nervous to greet the guy that you pretended you weren't his date by looking away from his gaze, and spilling your coffee on your chest after. You tried looking casual as you wiped your wet chest, until your date finally approached your way. You couldn't handle the embarrassment and rushed out of the shop as soon as he opened his mouth.
"He was kind of cute, but then," You admitted as you chuckled. "probably wasn't the best time to meet me." Leaning comfortably against the cushion, you just found yourself relaxed with his presence.
"When will it be the best time to meet you then?"
Your head snapped back to him in surprise, but immediately pushing any malicious thoughts about what he said.
It's not like he's going to ask me out, right.
"Hmm," You hummed as you calmed yourself before answering. "maybe when I'm ready?"
"When will that happen?"
You started sweating bullets at his question, looking away from his penetrating gaze.
"Uh, next year?" You stupidly said with a nervous laugh, just trying to get away from the question as fast as you can. You thought that Hyoseop will be laughing with you, but then he didn't. You slowly turned your head to him, uncertain of what was his reaction.
He just nodded with a small smile, eyes gentle as he looked at you.
"I'll be waiting then."
You swore that your heart stopped beating at that moment.
"So as I was saying, this new recruit in our squad just feels like she's so pretty that she treats anyone she thinks ugly like shit." Jiwon complained loudly as she walked beside you in the hallways. "Her name's Lisa by the way. Just so you know who the bitch is."
"Uhuh." You mumbled as she continued to drag you along with her. She wanted to walk you to your room, and you just let her do what she wants so she doesn't whine.
"I think she's so gonna click with your bitch friends." Jiwon laughed crazily as she shook her head. "Haven't seen those girls for a while."
You almost cursed out loud as you saw them come out of the room. It sucks to see those devils most of the time. They just walked past you both, glaring as Jiwon raised her eyebrows at them.
"It's so scary how devils suddenly appear as you speak of them." She mumbled as she rolled her eyes. "They didn't try anything to you again, did they?"
You darted your eyes instantly on your right wrist, flipping it on the other side, so it would be hidden. Thankfully, Jiwon didn't see and continued on blabbering until you were both inside the room. She just sat beside you, waving at people she knew and they politely greeted back.
How two-faced these people are.
"They didn't, did they, Saejin-ah?" Jiwon asked once again with her serious face. You just smiled before shaking your head.
"No, they didn't."
You'll be avoiding those people from now on, anyway.
It wouldn't matter.
As soon as the bell rang, you took your things and went out quietly. You didn't want to waste time and be caught up with any of Irene's shit again. You looked up at the round clock as you walked past the corner, 3:34 pm. You walked briskly, calculating how fast your walk should be to be able to catch bus—
"Oof!"
Of course you wouldn't be so lucky to be Baekhyun-free today.
His eyes widened as yours just turned into slits. You quickly picked up your bag and walked past him. He looked like he saw a ghost as he bumped into you. He seemed to be in a rush as well.
We can just treat each other as strangers now.
"Saejin! Wait!"
You glanced around and noticed how some students looked at you in wonder. Probably thinking why is a Byun Baekhyun, the quarterback from the football team, running after you. You let out a frustrated sigh before turning to an empty hallway.
"SAE—"
"I'm here, stop shouting." You grumbled as you leaned at the wall, tapping your foot impatiently. As soon as he entered the hallway, you looked at his back and confirmed that no one was looking anymore. "What? Wasn't I clear—"
Without consent, Baekhyun gently took your right hand, his hand carefully turning it to the side for a better look. As if he knew what he was looking for.
"What the hell—"
"Who did this? You didn't, did you? Was it them again?!" Baekhyun angrily questioned you, his once gentle eyes hardened in a second. His voice turned deeper and much lower than his chirpy and energetic tone. His touch was warm and light against your skin, contrasting his voice and eyes full of rage. "I'm gonna—"
"What? Kick them out again?" You voiced out the concern of those girls, gritting your teeth as you refuse to be affected by his kindness and worry. "Stop worrying—"
"Why can't I? When you're like this?" Baekhyun let out a humorless chuckle, eyes drifting towards your eyes. You couldn't find it in yourself to pull away from his grasp. It felt okay. You felt safe. "Who would want to leave you alone?"
Maybe because you're too weak, it gets kind of exhausting for people to care for you.
Maybe that's why they betray you. Maybe they couldn't handle your fragile heart.
Maybe you are the problem.
"Let me in, Saejin-ah."
You looked back into his eyes, seeing nothing but clear sincerity and care. You swallowed the lump in your throat before speaking, afraid your voice will break.
"Why would you want that, Baekhyun-ssi?" You whispered, lips slightly quivering under his gaze. "Why would you want to care so much?"
Baekhyun pursed his lips as he stared at you silently. You weren't expecting an answer to be honest. You just want to let out the questions bugging you from the start. Why would he, right? No one would be kind enough to approach you with pure intentions like those people around you. Everyone here knew about your past, about your scandal with a senior, who was allegedly drugged by you.
Unless Baekhyun didn't know about it.
Your eyes teared up as you looked away from him. Maybe he didn't know about it. That should explain his kindness. If he knew, he would be like everyone else.
Or maybe he likes you—
"I don't know how this happened." Baekhyun sighed as he caressed your injured hand, looking down at the neatly wrapped bandage on your wrist. "It's kinda your fault, you know."
"What?!" You almost hit him with your other hand, eyebrows twitching as your tears went back in your eye sockets. He was making you this riled up in a few sentences, huh.
"You wouldn't stop playing around in my head." Baekhyun chuckled as he looked at you through his lashes, a smile forming on his lips. Your lips parted in surprise at his confession.
"W-What the hell are you saying?"
"I think I like you, Saejin-ah." He proudly admitted as he tugged on your hand gently towards him. Your eyes remained wide as he stared into them admiringly. "Damn, you just won't stop.  I was certain I'm going crazy already."
As much as you want to push him away and shout some profanities you haven't said to anyone, you couldn't make yourself move away and speak bravely. It was like he sucked every piece of courage you had in yourself, turning the tables his way and to his advantage. He was messing with your brain and feelings BIG TIME.
WHO WAS HE KIDDING? HE LIKES ME? DOES HE THINK I'M THAT STUPID? HE WAS FREAKING MAKING OUT WITH DIFFERENT GIRLS LAST FEW DAYS! I COULDN'T EVEN COUNT THEM ALL! THIS FUCKING BASTARD!
"I can see that you're swearing at me with your eyes, baby." Baekhyun mumbled under his breath, chuckling as he saw your other hand forming into a fist.
"Glad that you know." You jabbed his stomach with your elbow, earning a pained grunt. "I'm—"
Baekhyun still stared expectantly at you, slightly wincing at the pain on his abs. You looked away, stepping back to regain your space. You wouldn't want to be that close again with him, you'll probably faint.
"—accepting you as an acquaintance then."
His eyes lit up at your declaration until he realized that his love confession was ignored. He opened his mouth to ask when you shushed him. You looked at the clock near the corner and huffed.
"I'll forget what you just said earlier. I'm rushing for work. Bye." You said in one breath before running past him, not giving him the chance to say anything back. Baekhyun just let out a chuckle as he slowly looked at your back, eyes crinkling in delight.
"At least I'm an acquaintance, huh?" He mumbled at himself, glancing down at his hand that caressed yours. "Byun Baekhyun as your acquaintance. Hmp." He pitied himself for being acquaintance-zoned, shaking his head incredulously. "Step up your game, Byun!" He laughed before walking back to the main hallway with a smile on his face.
It's not that bad.
As long as you didn't say no.

A//n: This was WAY longer than I anticipated. I just kept coming up with more stuff and holy crap I love writing Bev x readers???? Please request more Bev Edit: this was in my drafts forever and again as much as i have been trying to get requests out in order, it's been pretty tough but at least this way stuff gets out sooner so here ya go.
Tumblr media
Okay
First of all..
Y'all make the CUTEST COUPLE, OKAY?!
Like no joke
You know that cliche about girls stealing their boyfriends hoodies/clothes??
Well that goes for both of you and you both are always swapping clothes cause you both love each other's sense of style
Plus, ya know, it's got that great boyfriend girlfriend smell
It's cheesy and played out, but it's honestly so wholesome, and again, you guys each have an interest in each others senses of styles
If you're bigger than her, and her clothes don't necessarily fit you, pfffttt no big deal, she had a million blankets that smelled like her and then you two got together and now she can only find like,, two. But that doesn't mean she doesn't love stealing your clothes!! They're baggier on her but oH MY GOODNESS DOES SHE LOVE THAT. She just loves being able to completely immerse herself in your stuff. Especially when she isn't feeling safe in her own home and you aren't around, the best thing for her is to wrap herself in her your stuff and be comforted by you. Uggh, its hella sweet
But let's start from the beginning...
Both of you knew about each other from school
You definitely heard the many rumors about "Beaver-ly Marsh"
Not that you participated, but you were always overhearing rumors from gossiping girls and bragging boys in your class
Your school wasn't huge but it wasn't small either
But it was kill or be be killed, and rumors spread like the damn plague
It was inevitable
And it was just a matter of time before you overheard the several rumors of the "slut" who did it with every guy in school.
You'd roll you're eyes at the word and the ridiculous insinuations, knowing the massively overplayed game of telephone that ruled your school was not necessary the most credible source of information
And you were positive there were rumors about you, I mean, it really wasn't possible to go to that school without a rumor going around
Everyone had one
Anyways, you never paid much attention to them, but then you met her...
And oh no.
Immediately, it was:
Tumblr media
You already never paid much mind to the rumors, but when you got to know each other??
Nuh uh.
No way
Not Beverly
No no no no, no
She was way too sweet, and shy, and beautiful, and awesome, and funny, annnd oh no the damn butterflies were back and shit she made you feel things
And you??
Bevery had no clue she was into girls until you came along...
You were her gay awakening and her being so used to all those nasty things people said about her and all those boys??
Even though it wasn't true, any of it, she still always expected that eventually one day she'd get her first boyfriend, to love and cuddle with and everything normal
Again, then you came along and her heart was all like
BOOM BOOM BEECH
You both danced around each other a lot. Seeing as you were two precious little gay beans that lived in a conservative town in the 80s, it wasn't exactly the most accepting environment and you guys didn't know if the other was into girls at all
On both sides it was "does she like me or is she just really laid back and friendly???"
It took way too long to figure out you were both into each other
If I'm being completely honest here, y'all were like the female reddie
Two girls who became best friends and always bickered like crazy to hide your feelings
The way you two found out you had feelings for one another was bumpy and awkward but silly and cute nonetheless
It came off in a passing comment that just slipped out
The two of you were having a sleepover like you did every Friday night you were available
and you two were laying on her bedroom floor talking about anything and everything staring at the ceiling
Her radio was playing in the background and the two of you were surrounded by various snacks you had been munching on all throughout the night and the conversation drifted to gossip about your peers at school
It went a little something like this:
Y: "Did you see so and so today??"
B: "Yes!!"
Y: *laughing* "Yeah, what the hell was that?"
B: I have no idea what goes on in her head...
B: but I guess I gotta give her some credit, she's always super confident and I'm like, 90% sure that's what makes her the most desirable girl in the 8th grade"
Y: "I guess that makes sense"
B: "I do wish I had her confidence. Maybe I'd have better luck romantically"
Y: "Oh please, like you need that. You're infinitely more attractive than her"
B: "What?"
Y: *panicked* "What?"
B: *slowly sits up with smug ass smirk on her lips* are you saying you find me... attractive?"
Y: ..."what?" *sweating*
B: *still smirking* "Wait,"
Y: "WhAT?"
B: *stILL smirking* "do you-?"
Y: *full on gay panic* "No!"
B: *smirking and blushing*
B: *lays back down* "well, I think you're pretty attractive yourself, if it's any consolation"
She's still so nervous though so it comes out in a whisper
She's 99 percent certain you just accidentally revealed your crush to her but her heart was p o u n d i n g anyway
What if it just came out wrong and that's why you panicked???
Had she just revealed her crush to you by mistake???
But no
You both were a blushing mess and it did not go unnoticed by either one of you
You're hands kinda accidently brushed and you both just had a heart attack on the spot
But the connection you two had that night
You both just... knew
You guys kinda just... happened
After that you both were aware you liked each other
But it was kind of unspoken
At first
It's not like you guys never talked about it, but you two definitely became more touchy and flirty
Holding hands when no one was looking
Shortly before you guys happened and before that night, she had introduced you to losers and they just totally accepted you as one of their own
You got along especially well with Richie (wonder why)
But Bev wasn't too happy about this particular fact...
Especially after you two got together
She wasn't necessarily jealous, especially cause she already had a sneaking suspicion about his feelings for another loser, but because he took up a lot of her time with you
But then, to her chagrin, Richie found out about you two
the eight of you were hanging out in the clubhouse, and Ben had to make some adjustments so him and the others left momentarily to help him get the resources
Except you, and Bev
You two volunteered to hold down the fort [literally]
aaaaaaand you two wanted to have a few minutes alone together too,
Nothing scandalous or anything like that, but you two didn't get be close around the losers
Then Richie returned way earlier than expected [turns out he was doing more harm than good and they sent him back]
He was just outside the entrance and he overheard you two
"I wish we could tell them,"
"I know. And it's not that I don't think they'll accept us, it's-" *sigh* "I'm just not ready... I'm sorry"
"Don't be. It's okay, we can tell them when we're both good and ready."
"Thank you, Y/n."
Richie just kinda stood there thinking about what he just heard
I mean, it made sense, you guys were really close, but then again, that's just how he thought all girls were
But everything else kinda made more sense the more he thought about it
And, it honestly reminded him of him and Eddie
More specifically, how he felt about his best friend
Now naturally this was a very emotional moment, but Richie Tozier being Richie Tozier wasn't about to waltz in there and give some sappy speech about he accepts you guys and he's here for you no matter what
No, no, no
He laid down on the forest floor, sticking his head in the clubhouse scaring the shit out of you two and said
"You guys should really be more quiet, Ben may be a suspiciously good overnight kid architect sensation but he has yet to soundproof this baby"
He then stuck his arm inside the clubhouse, patting the ceiling, shaking a couple spiders loose from his his hand in disgust
"Richie...!"
You two jumped apart and you about nearly shit your pants
"Relax, I'm not gonna tell anyone,"
You both were startled as hell and absolutely disgruntled but the two of you looked at each other, simultaneously breathing a sigh of relief
He got up and joined you two in the clubhouse, and began lounging in his usual spot in the hammock, arms behind his head
"So, this means you two are both into girls, huh?"
Once again, you looked at one another and back at him, nodding shyly
He plastered on the most mischievous smirk you had ever seen and nodded his head, his huge eyes squinting slightly from behind his glasses
"niceee"
This of course was followed by simultaneous eye rolls, Bev even threw her gum wrapper at him but you laughed
It was a relieved laugh
Here you were, exposed and unintentionally outed to Richie "Trashmouth" Tozier and sure enough his reaction was "nICE"
It was honestly a relief and kinda hilarious
You guys just kinda broke out into laughter
It was nice moment
***TRIGGER WARNING FOR [PARENTAL] HOMOPHOBIA BELOW***
And for a while, everything was great. That was, until your parents began to take note just how much time you were spending with Bev
They kept an eye on it at first
Then they started asking questions
You knew this day would come one way or another
Hell, you grew up with them after all, you knew what they thought about people like you and it broke your heart
It terrified you
And it's exactly what you heard every night when you tried to fall asleep, their voices speaking to you clear as day; how disgusted they were. They weren't really there of course and it wasn't until you became a loser that you found out what that voice was...
The point is, your deepest fear was being realized so you did what you could do
Lie
And it seemed to work. Briefly
Your mother had come in to check on you two for the fifth time - usually she checked on you two four times since their suspicions - and found you two snuggled up on top of your sleeping bags
Your mother screamed, scaring the crap out of you guys and you jumped apart
Your mother was thrown into hysterics and went to fetch your father, wailing like a damn baby
Needless to say that night was a long one for everyone
And as if things couldn't get any worse, just days later you found out that Beverly had been taken by It
Immediately, every doubt, every fear, every inkling of shame your parents and your community had drilled into you was forgotten and all that mattered was getting her back
You and your friends literally went through hell to get her back
Needless to say it was a terrifying ordeal but you all had each other's backs and everyone came out okay
When you left Neibolt, you and Beverly were hand in hand
You couldn't give a flying fck about it, you just fought a shape-shifting demon clown you could face your small minded parents
And more importantly you knew even if your parents didn't support you, you had other people who did that and that was enough
✎﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏
Hope you enjoyed, sorry it's so long and again this is out of order of who requested it so I'm sorry to those of you who had stuff in before this, but I've just been stuck for too long and I needed to get things moving again. Anyways, I hoped you guys like this and again, omg I love writing Beverly!!! I would not be offended if you guys asked for more Bev fics/hc when I open up requests again

Paper hearts (A Fanfic)
Summary: You come home to a very sad Arthur but you always know how to make him smile.
Soft and sweet, no smut.
Tumblr media
You hated Mondays. We all do. But it was more likely that you hated what Mondays represented, going back to routine and being away from Arthur for twelve hours a day. And just as you hated Mondays, you also hated Fridays, because on Fridays you worked longer hours at the diner and never came home before 10pm. It was the only day of the week that Arthur arrived at the apartment earlier than you did and even though he was very tired, he always waited up for you, usually watching the Murray Franklin Show. The other week days you liked to cook dinner together, it was something Arthur enjoyed. However, on Fridays you always left him something prepared so he could eat earlier and didn't need to wait until you came home. Today was one such Friday.
- Arthur!! I'm home!!- you announced as soon as you came in.
You felt particularly happy and you owed that happiness to the contents of the bag you carried in your hands. A small surprise for your Arthur.
He usually got up and ran out to greet you, even if he was watching Murray's show. Nothing was more important to him than you.
But today there was no reply and no greeting. You wondered if maybe he had fallen asleep, it was really very late. But as you walked past the kitchen, you saw that the meal you had left him was untouched. Arthur hadn't eaten. You left the bag in the kitchen and went straight to the bedroom. When you found him there, sitting in a corner of the bed, hugging his legs to his chest and resting his head on his knees, an awful sensation of anguish built up inside you.
He wasn't in a state of anxiety, he rather looked like he was in a trance. He was wearing his pajamas and his hair was quite a mess. His beautiful green eyes were open but they had an empty look. And when you noticed that the Murray Franklin Show was on and Arthur wasn't even paying attention, you worried.
You walked over and sat down next to him. You feared he might be sick and you put a hand on his forehead but he didn't feel warm.
It was nights like these when Arthur felt very sad. You noticed in the way his shoulders hung and in how quiet he was. Tonight was one of those nights.
- Arthur, honey, what's wrong?
You came a bit closer, cupped his face with your hands and kissed his nose. It was something he liked and it always made him laugh because it tickled. But today the effect was quite the opposite and as if it was a reflex, tears started to fall from his beautiful green eyes and ran down his cheeks.
- What is it, sweetheart?- you asked with a lump in your throat.
But Arthur remained quiet. You opened your arms and he just fell into them. He clung to your waist, burried his head in your shoulder and silently cried. You held him tightly and mumbled words of love into his ear. You didn't know what had happened but you could very well imagine.
- Don't cry, angel. I'm here. Everything's gonna be alright...
Several minutes went by like this until you felt his body relaxing in your arms and his breathing calming down.
- You wanna tell me what happened?
Arthur wiped his nose with his sleeve and without letting go of your body, he began to speak in a voice so soft you had to put up all your effort to understand what he was saying.
- I t-tripped while I was working...those shoes a-are so big. And the sign I was holding in my hands broke.
You stroke his back as he spoke.
- And when I got back, Hoyt started yelling at me in front of the others and they all made fun of me. He said he would take it out of my pay check.
- Did you get hurt?- you asked, very much concerned.
- No.
You hugged him to your chest and kissed the top of his head. You silently swore to kill Hoyt or at least to kick him in the nuts next time you saw him.
- It's OK, Arthur. You didn't do anything wrong. It was an accident and it happens to all of us. You know...today I broke a mug at the diner.
- You did?- he asked in surprise.
- Yes!- you lied.
It wasn't true but you wanted to make him feel better.
- It just fell and crashed on the floor. I'm very clumsy, too...
Arthur let go of his embrace and looked at your eyes, as if he was silently thanking you for that small comfort. You smiled, kissed his forehead and dried the remaining tears under his eyes. You took his hands in yours and noticed how cold they were. In your mind you cursed yourself for not being able to afford a fucking heater.
- Baby, you're cold.- you said getting up and headed to the living room. You found the blue sweater Arthur had left on a chair and brought it back with you.
- Come, let me put this on you.- you said and with much love you put the sweater on him and buttoned it.
Arthur looked at you with his sweet eyes that were still so sad and your heart could simply not stand to see him like this. You quickly changed into your own pajamas and got into bed with him, taking him in your arms once again.
- Hmmmm, I know how to make you smile...- you said all the sudden. - Close your eyes!-
Arthur did as you said and for a second you watched his beautiful eyelashes that gave him such a sweet look.
You always kept a box of chocolates locked in the drawer of your nightstand. It wasn't like Arthur shouldn't eat them. You just had to keep him from eating them all at once. It had happened the first time you came home with a whole box of chocolates you had gotten for Christmas at work. Arthur had been so excited, rarely did he get the chance to enjoy such luxury and he definitely had a sweet tooth. The poor thing, he hadn't been able to control himself, eating up a dozen chocolates and he had ended up with an upset stomach. You knew this would cheer him up right now and so you opened the drawer and placed the box in his lap.
Arthur opened his eyes and when he saw what you were offering him, he couldn't help but smiling with the joy of a small child.
- Choose one, baby.
- Oh, but... I'm not allowed to touch that box.- he reminded you.
Your heart melted away.
- You are allowed for tonight, sweetheart.
Arthur's eyes grew big at the sight of all those chocolates. You could tell he was having a hard time picking just one.
- You can have two.- you offered.
You felt pure bliss when you saw Arthur enjoying something so small and simple so much. Simple souls are happy with so little...
Arthur hugged you and kissed your cheek, leaving chocolate stains on your skin.
- Thank you.- he whispered.
- Hold on...I still have a surprise for you!!- you said, suddenly remembering the bag you had dropped off in the kitchen.
You came back with it, sat down again and handed it to Arthur. His curious eyes opened wide and he carefully opened the bag. His beautiful face beamed when he realized he was getting a present without it being his birthday or Christmas or any special occasion at all. He was getting a present for the simple fact that he was loved and never ever before you came into his life had anything like that happened.
His eyes were filled with happy tears when he unwrapped the book. Arthur loved books, especially children's books because they were sweet and easy to understand. Above all he loved stories that had animals as their main characters. They weren't cruel and they never had double intentions. They're just like Arthur, you thought to yourself, there's no evil in their hearts. That's why you had chosen this book in particular. Earlier, you had walked past a book shop and the colorful cover with animal drawings had immediately captured your eye. You didn't have much money but you put together all the tips you had received this week and bought it for Arthur. You knew he would like it.
His favorite part was when you read the stories to him. He loved the sound of your voice and the way you made a different voice for every animal. You always allowed him time to run his fingers across the drawings and when he asked you about the meaning of a word he did not understand, you always had the patience to explain it to him. You never read him a sad story, only those with a happy ending. And you loved to read for him. You could read him the same story ten times over and Arthur never got tired of it.
- Thank you...- said Arthur, touched by your generosity. - I don't deserve all these presents. I know they're expensive...-
- You deserve so much more, sweetheart- you replied.
You saw the look in his eyes and knew what he wanted to say and yet he didn't dare. After so long he was still shy to ask this of you.
- You want me to read it to you, darling?- you asked.
- Mhm- said Arthur, hugging your waist and leaning his head against your chest. It was his favorite position because it allowed him to look at the drawings as you turned the pages.
You received him in your arms, covered him with a blanket  and kissed the top of his head, enjoying the smell and the softness of his hair.
- My sweet Arthur- you said - I love you with all my heart.-
You read and re-read the book three times over until Arthur's eyes finally closed and he fell asleep in your arms. It was so late.
Ever so carefully, you laid his head down on the pillow, Arthur softly moaning in his sleep at the loss of your embrace.
- Shhh, sleep baby. I'm right here. I'm going nowhere.- you whispered.
Then you pulled the blanket over his body, making sure he was warm and cozy and you watched him sleep for a while. How you wished you could always keep him safe like that, safe from the outside world and from all the pains of life. You couldn't. But at least for tonight you could provide him this much care and comfort and it mattered. Arthur was now soundly asleep, a soft smile drawn onto his beautifully thin lips. And you knew there couldn't be a bigger paradise than this, a small and run down apartment in the ugliest side of the city where, nontheless, lived two hearts that loved each other.

For Better or Worse
CH.2
Roman was back in town today, and it was his night to have the girls. Your in the kitchen finishing up lunch when you phone rings, and Roman's name comes across your screen."Hey Roman, what's up?" You answer. " Hey, I was just wondering if I could have the girls next Friday for Mom's birthday?" He asks "Yea absolutely, I'll send her gift  with them if that's OK?" You respond " That's fine, you got her something?" He asks, "Yeah, I actually got it a few months back'' you explain "hey, since I got you on the phone I was thinking maybe tomorrow night when I drop the girls off we could sit down and try to talk, yanno try to work this mess out"  he sounds so heartbroken "Yea, I guess so sounds good." You say "alright, well I'll be there in an hour or so thanks again for next Friday" he says before saying goodbye and hanging up. You walk into your living room looking at all the memories you and Roman had made over the years pictures from your wedding, maternity photos, holidays, birthdays, vacations, you smile seeing how happy you were and you can't help but think where'd it go wrong? What Happened? You and Roman were so in love, so happy, You smile remembering each moment. It wasn't that you didn't love Roman anymore you did just as much as you ever did maybe even more , it wasn't that he was on the road and only home a number of days , you accepted that it was once your life too. The problem was however the fights and how each time they seemed to get worse and more frequent the two of you would get to a point where you would say things just to hurt the other more, Roman would go his way you'd go your way never apologizing just simply moving on. Somewhere in the midst of it all you both stopped saying your "I love you"s that's what hurt you most feeling as though the love had been sucked out of your marriage.
Today was your and Roman's Anniversary. You have been planning tonight for weeks, your sister had flown in to babysit the kids, you were making Roman his favorite meal for dinner followed by cheesecake for dessert. Everything was ready for when Roman arrived from being at a live event . "Okay, Roman will be here in a few hours, thanks again for coming to watch the girls Cecily" you say hugging your younger sister. "No problem gives me an excuse to see my beautiful nieces and spoil them" she smiles you roll your eyes at her giving your daughters a kiss " Behave for Aunt CeCe, I love you girls" you wave goodbye "love you mommy" they say in unison walking off. You head upstairs to shower and get ready for the night you planned for your husband after slipping into one of Roman's gifts you decide to send him a sneak peak of just what he'll be coming home too.
Y/n: Happy Anniversary Baby! Can't wait for you to get home😘
Roman: Jesus Y/n! Happy Anniversary Beautiful! I love you more each day that passes! Damn I can't wait to be rip that off you and fuck you senseless😜
Y/n: Me either Daddy! See you soon Big Dog! I love you.
Roman: I love you more baby!
Roman Finally arrives home you greet him with a kiss that quickly turns very heated, Roman hands start to roam your body going closer and closer to your heat just and he's about to slip his hand into your panties you stop him."No No No Baby, Dinner and dessert then we play" you smile kissing his lips once more. " Mmm..you mean you're not dessert?" He asks. You shake your head no and lead him to the dining room, after your meal Roman goes to his luggage and brings you a huge box." Roman, what's this I thought he agreed no gifts this year" you say shocked " I know but I had this idea for a while now and just decided our anniversary was the best occasion to put it in motion." He says handing you the box. You look at him for a few seconds smiling at how amazing he is then open your gift. As you take it out you see its canvas of your and Roman's wedding vows with the day you got married and both your names.
"Oh My God Ro, I love this, Thank you baby!" You say with tears in your eyes, Roman hangs the canvas in your living room right above your couch "okay now let's get you upstairs so I can get my gift" he winks "Yea, oh but first I have something for you" you say grabbing the bag with Roman's gift handing it to him. "What's this?, No gifts I thought" he said mocking you from a few minutes earlier " Well I knew you would get me something even though we said no gifts so I got you a little something but nothing compared to what you got for me'' you say smiling . Roman opens his gifts immediately starts to laugh seeing the mug you bought for him
"Wow that's hilarious, thank you baby I love it!" He says kissing you."Now can I take my sexy wife up stairs and have my way with her?" He asks kissing your shoulder ,then neck. "Mmm.. Why go all the way upstairs, we have a perfectly good couch right here, or table" you wink at him Roman grabs you hand leading you to the couch he starts slowly kissing down your body lips, jawline, neck so on and so on until he reaches you stomach " Baby you're wearing too many pieces of clothing, let's lose some" he mumbled still kissing down your stomach to your thighs. He pulls you panties off admiring your wetness " Damn baby who made you this wet?" he growls "You did Daddy" you moan just as he was about to taste you , you stop him " Ro, make love to me, please" you beg "Anything you want baby girl" Roman says making his way back to your lips kissing you deeply as he removed your bra, he slowly laid you back positioned himself at your entrance and slowly slide into to you "God Y/n you're so fucking tight" he moans starting to thrust Roman gets a steady pace going not to fast but not too slow kissing you with each stroke " Shit Roman you feel so good" you whisper "Go Deeper Ro please" you nearly beg Roman obeys going deeper into your core until he can't anymore "Damn Y/n I love you so much "he breathes " I-I love you too Ro" you say about to reach your high "I'm close babe" you tell him "Right behind you love" he says thrusting sloppy now after a few more thrusts Roman and you climax together moans filling the room. "Happy anniversary Big Dog" you say trying to catch your breath "Happy anniversary baby" he says softly kissing your head.
**present day**
You were relaxing out by the pool, listening to music laying in the sun clearing your head when suddenly you heard a familiar voice coming from inside your home, "Y/n? Roman? , girls ? Anyone home ? Grandma is here!". Your mother was here. "Out by the pool mom" you yell from outside. "There's my baby" she says pulling you into her famous "Momma Bear" hug "where is everyone?"she asks looking around, how were you gonna explain to your mother that Roman her favorite son-in-law no longer lived here and  explain how you two were getting a divorce.

Peter Parker x Reader
Words: 893
_____________________________________________________________
Peter had invited you over with intention of watching a bunch of scary movies. In the spirit of Halloween, you'd recommended it to him on Friday. So what if October had only started less than a week ago? That never stopped either of you.
You showed up at his house with some of your favorite horror movies and popcorn. It was late at night, which you'd planned to help create a creepy atmosphere.
“Okay, do we wanna start with IT or Nightmare on Elm Street?” you asked. “Or maybe a classic like Halloween.”
Peter took a handful of popcorn. “Wait, did you bring Silent Hill?” he asked, looking at the pile of movies on the table.
“Of course I did,” you said. It was decided that you'd start with Sweeney Todd and end with Silent Hill, which Peter had never seen. You set up the first movie, and joined him on the couch. Most of the time, both of you sang along to every song you could remember.
Aunt May was kind enough to bring out a blanket for both of you. In retrospect, that might have been for the best, as the movies were getting scarier. Peter had covered his eyes a number of times, though he tried to deny the claim.
“Okay, but anyone would be scared of a child devouring clown, (Y/N),” he defended.
You shrugged. “I mean, yeah, but this movie really isn't all that scary. You think this is bad? You won't last through The Strangers.” Admittedly, you were also getting creeped out, though you were handling it better.
After making your way through all of the movies, both of you sat there, almost not wanting to get up. You were holding onto each other as the credits rolled. Without hesitation, Peter raced across the room and turned the lights on.
“Not today, Satan!” he exclaimed.
“Why did we think was a good idea again?”
“No clue, but I'm definitely not sleeping tonight.” You nodded in agreement. Peter offered to walk you home in case you got scared all alone, which you greatly appreciated. However, you felt as though he were just as frightened as you.
The entire walk, Peter stayed close to you. “Are you sure you're okay?” You asked.
“Yeah, why wouldn't I be?” For a moment it looked like he was surpressing any anxiety he was having. Maybe this had been a bad idea.
“Next time, maybe we should stick to the super cheesy stuff next time.” Peter nodded in agreement, laughing nervously.
When you'd made it to your door, he finally relaxed a bit. “Good night, Peter,” you said, hiding a laugh.
“Night, (Y/N). If you get scared, text me,” he replied, though you knew you wouldn't need to. Agreeing anyways, you gave Peter a hug, hoping it would help at least a bit. It was the least you could do.
Giving, Peter a quick kiss on the cheek, you waved goodbye and went inside. Just as you were closing the door, you saw him take a deep breath and start walk back. You jumped into bed, not bothering to change into different clothes.
You didn't have time to be scared of what demons could be lurking in the dark, waiting to steal your soul. Sleep wanted to consume you too much. Just as you were drifting off to sleep, a text message brought you back to full consciousness.
(Y/N) I HEARD A NOISE!!!
It was Peter, of course, who was still scared. You knew this would happen.
“Peter, you're fine, go back to sleep,” you replied. You waited a moment, and when he didn't text back, you tried to sleep again.
Another message came through. “Update: it was Wade tapping on the window,” it read. You weren't sure whether to sigh or laugh, so you did both.
You text him back. “Peter, I love you, but you're the reason I'm sleep deprived right now. Go to sleep.”
“Fine, love you too, get your beauty sleep,” he replied, and with that you went back to sleeping. Whatever you'd been dreaming about must have been nice, because you were sad when it ended an hour later.
“I think my house is haunted,” Peter sent you. Groaning, you decided to text Aunt May and end this once and for all.
“Please tell Peter there are no ghosts or demons coming after him.” There was a pause before a reply came back.
“I got it covered,” she said. Finally, you went to sleep and stayed that way until the next morning. When you asked him about it at lunch, Peter seemed a lot less terrified.
“May gave me some tea and had me watch Mamma Mia,” he explained. “I didn't feel like Satan was watching me anymore.” When he wasn't looking, Ned came up behind Peter to sit with you, which made him jump. Ned laughed, though the jumpscare wasn't intentional.
“Dude, are you okay?”
“The universe is out to get me!” Peter exclaimed before getting up and leaving. Ned looked at you for an explanation.
“He thinks Pyramid Head or some shit is gonna murder him,” you said.
“Oh, Halloween’s got him spooked. Got it,” he responded. “Just give him the rest of the day, and he'll be fine.” The quiet yelp that came from a few feet away had you believing otherwise.

“Sugar come on now don't be mad at me. You know I did it for us, you know that baby?”
“Buck, you know I don’t care about the damn money, I hate seeing you come home every night  with a black eye or a broken nose every week.”
Fighting, it was one word you had heard ever since you were a kid. Growing up dirt poor  in a small town didn’t exactly scream “I got it easy”.
Your mom worked at the local library and bartended on weekends just to make ends meet. Your dad skipped out when you were ten.
Life was never easy for anyone in the small town. The majority of your clothes were hand me downs and goodwill was were you did your back to school shopping.
You knew life wouldn’t be a walk in the park for you ever since you could remember, but when you met Bucky you started to become optomistic. Maybe the card’s could fold in your favor.
Working two jobs one bartending at a local restaurant and the other working at the library on the weekends. You and Bucky struggled to make ends meet. You all decided together that you wanted to leave the small town behind.
“Come on Y/N don’t be mad at me.” He leaned down to kiss you.
Trying to make light of the situation. Bucky decided to take up boxing a “quick way to make cash” was the way he put it.
He wanted to leave town as much as you did. He felt like you deserved the world, he always felt bad that he couldn’t even give a you slice of it.
Good jobs in your town where hard to come by, neither one if you could afford college
“Come on Buck stop it I’m not doing shit with you tonight.” You rolled out of his arms and marched to the bedroom. Nothing was going to happen tonight.
You walked off to your bedroom. You hated what he was doing; tearing himself apart for you.
Bucky let you sit alone for awhile giving you enough time to calm down and not tear him a new one. He entered your shared to find you sitting against the headboard. You looked p at him to find a small smile adoring his face.
“Come on sugar at least give me some sugar.”  He laughed out loud at his own joke, Bucky always had terrible sense of humor you couldn’t help but laugh with him, all your previous anger disappearing.
You scotted towards of the bed and wrapping your legs around Bucky backside.
Knowing you both needed this tonight, being in each other arms for the first time in weeks.
Bucky worked odd jobs in between boxing trying to make ends meet. He hadn’t been home much.
The only thing you two had time for at end the end of the day was a quick peck on the lips before you sunk into the bed.
“I just hate seeing you hurt… Saving up to get out of here just doesn’t seem worth it if  you literally have to kill yourself to do it.” tears had began to well up in your eyes.
Bucky worked so hard no matter what job he had.
You watched  as he chipped away at himself little by little all for the love of you.
“I know baby but I promised you that we would get out of this town. I’m going to do everything in my power to make sure it happens .” His hand gripped onto your ankles gently rubbing circles into your feet.
This man would move heaven and earth to see you happy. He didn’t care if he had to break himself in half to do it.
Bucky moved off the bed throwing off his dirty gym clothes. Today had been long for both of you; the only thing you wanted to do was be balled up in his embrace.
Following his lead you thru you let your clothes scatter on the floor, hearing the faint sound of the shower dribbling down.
One thing that you and Bucky joked about was not being able to afford some big fancy spa you both always said the shower was your “free getaway” spot.
Grabbing your robe you padded down the hallway to met Bucky in the shower. He was lend against the counter waiting for you.
“Come on sugar the water is warm.” he half heartedly joked.
“Baby you know we can’t do that the water bill will be out the roof this month.”
You rarely took long hot shower in fear the water bill would be more expensive.
“Don’t worry about that. I worked a double at the mill friday we can afford one long shower Y/N.” He grabbed the ties pulling each one slowly, pushing the fabric over your shoulders the floor softly hit the floor. Bucky’s eyes traveled up and down your naked from smiling to himself.
“I feel like we haven’t been together in awhile, come on baby get it.” he grabbed you by your hips and let you settle in the shower first.
The warm water felt amazing on your skin; it felt good steam building up quickly in the small bathroom.
If only the water could wash away your problems not only the dirt you accumulated along the day.
Bucky grabbed your loofah and loaded it up with your favorite body wash. Swiping his hands over your collarbone moving down to your breast, rubbing the soapy sponge over your nipples working his way down to your core moving slowly nodding for you to spread your legs further apart.
He worked slowly until your skin had been covered in body wash. It was like he was remembering your body again. He moved slowly over every area spending extra time gliding his hands over your skin.
The act was  slow and simple but you couldn’t help moaning out when he run a fresh town over your folds.
His hands worked slowly as he began rubbing your inner thighs. You knew what he wanted, you wanted to feel connected to him to; remembering the way his skin felt under your hands.
Skimming his fingers he rubbed fast and slow circle on your clit causing you to throw your head back and relax against his chest.
“Bucky hold on.. Let me take care of you.” shuffling to move Bucky under the warm spray of the water. You lathered up his towel and began to glide the soapy foam over his skin just as he did for you; taking your time on every area you touched. Working your way down to his erect member.
His hand hit the shower wall with a loud thud as you counited washing over his lower half.
“Baby slow down.” his voice was horse from his fast approaching release you’d caused.
“I’m not cumming without you.”
Bucky grabbed you by the waist and hiked your leg up on the bathtub leng, parting your folds with his fingers skimming down on the sensitive area.
He scissored his fingers inside you preparing you for the stretch of his cock.
“I love you baby i’m right here with you.”
Bucky moved into you with one slow motion rolling his hips; grasping onto your breast massaging them in his hands. He moved slowly the drag of his cock along your core made your head spin.
The slow lazy pace continued until felt you appending release.
“Bucky I- I’m going to cum.” your voice was barely above a whisper. The feeling was so intense you felt as if you wouldn’t be able to breath.
Your hand smacked against the shower wall, you bgan to bounce back on his cock moaning out his name the faster you went.
Without a word Bucky spilled himself into you, his release caused your own. Your legs where shaking the feeling of his cum cok pumping inside of you caused your walls to clamp down on his cock again.
“Y/N your-your squeezing the shit out of me baby..Fuck.”
Bucky counited to spill into you his cum filling you up until it dripped on the shower floor. He slid out of you leaning his back against the shower wall.
You dropped to your knees and took him into your mouth licking up everything that was left.
Bucky eyes winded at the sight of you. He was still sensitive but with the way you looked up at him he knew he would cum again.
He grabbed your arms and yanked you back up to your feet. He pushed you against the wall and hiked your legs around his waist.
“Fuck baby the way you were sucking me, God Y/N how do you expect me to be able to calm down after the first one.”
His cock slid into your entrance again sliding in and out like there was no tomorrow.
His head dropped to crook of your neck as he continued to slide into you, knowing he was close you decide to help with his release.
“I know your close go ahead Bucky cum inside me again.”
Your words of encouragement caused Bucky release. Calling your name as he collapsed against you and the shower wall.
You snuggled into Bucky s side as you listen to rain drip down on the earth. Not remembering the last time you held each other in a warm embrace.
“Baby?”  Bucky’s voice broke the silence in the room. You turned to your side to face him.
“You know I would do anything for you. And if that means comin home with a couple of bruise every night than by all means that’s what I’ll do. I made a promise to that we could leave this town together. I don’t care how hard it gets I’ll do everything I  possibly can do to make it happen.”
You knew not to fight Bucky. When he made a decision it was final it was almost impossible to change his mind especially when it was something regarding to you.
“I love you baby I just hate seeing you hurt.” you skimmed your fingers across his lips. “I know you wont stop so i’ll be behind you every step of the way.
“Thank you Y/N, without you I would have gone insane.”
“Well we can be crazy together baby.. I’ll be anything for you.”

A Little Romance Couldn't Hurt
(Maxwell x Amanda) as requested by @krsnlove with the below prompt. Taken from The Other Friend Series.
Brought in some of The Red Carpet gang for a few scenes 😉
A/N this started out as a fluffy Friday story, but became too long and complicated. But a promise is a promise, so here it is. Everything, except the rocks and famous people, have happened to me on various vacations with friends or my husband, LOL. Always make sure to travel with someone who can make you laugh. And bring pain pills.
Tumblr media
"Whoohoo!" Maxwell exclaimed as he walked out on the balcony. Carmel was absolutely beautiful. He and Amanda had left their little girls with Liam and Riley and had come for two weeks of fun in the sun and a few meetings with Thomas Hunt. Maxwell had plans though that involved some special alone time without a six year old and her three year old sister running about.
He rubbed his hands in anticipation. This was just what they needed. He returned to the suite and grinned when he saw Amanda on the phone. She had already called before they took off, while somewhere over Kentucky, and when they landed. She looked up at him. "Here's your daddy. Love you angels!"
Maxwell talked for a few minutes and told the girls he loved them. He tossed the phone aside and tackled Amanda on the bed. She giggled as he propped himself up on his elbows. His expression was filled with mock surprise. "Sorry, I tripped." She wrapped her arms around his neck pulling him down for a kiss.
They were interrupted from exploring this long forgotten freedom by the phone ringing. It was Thomas. He had arrived early and was waiting down in the lobby. "We will be right down." Amanda said while Maxwell shook his head, no. "See you soon."
He groaned and pulled her closer. "Wouldn't you rather stay here for a romantic beginning to our getaway?" He kissed along her jawline to her lips. He rolled over, causing her to laugh into the kiss.
"Yes, I would. That's why I'm going down there now so that I can hurry back up here and be alone with you." She moved her lips down his neck as she talked. "Let's go." She pushed off and grabbed his hand. He groaned and got up. "How did I end up with someone so cruel?"
The lobby was teaming with people. Luggage was moving at an alarming speed by the staff trying to get everyone situated. Maxwell saw a luggage cart barreling toward Amanda and shoved her out of the way. He was knocked down and bags landed on his back. His cry of pain echoed around the room.
"Maxwell!" Amanda began to try and pull the bags off of him but they were unusually heavy. Thomas ran over and tried to assist her. "Are there bricks in these bags?" He growled as he lifted.
"Actually, it's rocks." They turned to see a nervous looking man. "I'm a geologist and I brought some samples to share at UCLA."
"Well don't just stand there! Help us!" Thomas yelled. They soon had Maxwell unearthed and he moaned in pain. "My back." He stayed still trying not to tense up. The manager ran over, apologizing while yelling for a doctor to be called.
A few hours later, Maxwell was lying in bed feeling the effects of the muscle relaxer. Amanda had been alternating between heat and ice, while grimacing at the darkening bruises. She leaned down and pressed a kiss to a spot that had no mark.
He had a loopy smile on his face. "That felt nice." He said in a slightly slurred voice. Amanda gently ran her hand down his back. He would have a few days of swelling and spasms. So much for their romantic beginning.
Five days later, a rather grumpy Maxwell watched his wife get ready to go down to the beach. Apparently, Ryan Summers had invited a bunch of the friends she had made her first time here for a little fun in the sun. There was no way he was letting her go without him.
"You sure you feel up to it?" She asked for the fifth time. "I won't stay long if you want to lay back down."
"I'm fine." He bit out.
Amanda paused and looked at him. "You don't sound fine."
"I'm fine." He stressed again.
"Ah yes, the positivity just oozes from you." She teased.
His lips quirked and he couldn't help laughing at how ridiculous this trip had been so far. “I am gonna be so positive today! Positive or DEATH TO ALL!”
"Took a bit of a dark turn there at the end." She said, slipping her hand in his as they walked out.
"Well, you would worry about me if I was suddenly sunshine and rainbows after the last couple of days." He stepped out onto the warm sand and gazed out at the deep blue water. This was what he needed. He smiled down at Amanda as she wrapped her arms around him. Well, he needed something else too, but this was a good start.
They heard their names called out and turned to see a group waving at them. A petite blonde came running at full speed and hugged Amanda, squealing with delight. "Addison! It has been too long."
"I know! I've missed you guys like crazy." She grabbed Maxwell and hugged him.
"Careful!" Maxwell exclaimed when she squeezed hard.
"Sorry! Thomas told me what happened." She grabbed both their hands and pulled them along. They spent the afternoon enjoying the time with everyone. Maxwell relaxed back in his beach chair and was even found smiling most of the time.
His eyes rested on Amanda often. Addison and Holly had talked her and Thomas into playing badminton. During the hilariously bad plays, he noticed Amanda was looking a little red. He called out to her and rummaged around in her beach bag. "Uh oh."
"What's wrong." She asked as she sat down beside him.
"You look a little red. And we have no sun block." His eyes widened when he got a closer look at her. "Umm. We might need to get you inside."
"What? Why?" She asked. He pointed at her shoulders. Not only were they red, they had begun to blister. "What did you put on?" He asked.
"It was some kind of weird stuff Addison had. She said she used it all the time at the beach and that I had to give it a try." They yelled out to her.
"What's up? Holy crap! Your shoulders! Wait...which stuff did you put on?" Addison asked. "Did it smell like lemons or coconut?"
"Coconut. Why?" Amanda began to feel alarmed.
"Yeah... that's my super secret dark tanning lotion. I barely stay out for an hour when I have that on." Addison seemed worried.
"I've been out here for over three hours with it!" Amanda exclaimed. Now that it had been pointed out, she could feel the burn.
Maxwell stood up and they said their goodbyes. When they got back to the room and she removed her top, they both stared in horror. "I look like an overcooked lobster." She whispered.
"Yes you do. Did I mention that I love lobsters?" He wiggled his eyebrows at her causing her to giggle. She sobered the longer she looked at the crisp carcass that once was her body.
She teared up as she looked at her shoulders. For some weird reason they were the only blistered part. Everywhere else was red. Her cheeks and forehead were bright red and her nose...good grief. Through the tears of pain, she started laughing. "Who knew my love of all things coconut would lead to my downfall? I thought their shells were the only thing to cause bodily harm."
Maxwell started laughing and grabbed his back. "Ow! Don't make me laugh so hard." This caused them both to laugh harder. Amanda gingerly laid down on the top of the cover, cringing as her raw skin touched the comforter. He groaned as he stretched out beside her. "So..." He began, a teasing glint in his eyes. "This has got to be our most romantic getaway ever."
Amanda laughed. "I would kiss you but I think my lips were singed off by the sun."
"I would lean over and kiss you back, but I would never be able to move again." Maxwell said. He glanced at her and grimaced. "I can literally feel the heat of your burns way over here."
Amanda nodded. "I'm freezing but I'm pretty sure I would pass out from the pain if I pulled a blanket over me." She thought a minute and grabbed a blanket. It hurt like crap but she was still conscious. "Didn't work."
Maxwell slowly moved closer to her. She eyed him warily, afriad he would bump into her. He stopped about six inches away and collapsed. "Okay...by my math, if we can miraculously heal in two days, we will have at least one whole week to ourselves." He turned his head to look at his badly burned wife.
She met his eyes and began to laugh. "In case it was burned off, I was raising my eyebrow in disbelief." He snorted and the bed shook as they continued to tease each other until they fell asleep.
The next morning, Amanda opened her eyes and tried to get up. Her burned skin was tight and she hobbled around slightly bent. She looked in the mirror and realized she looked worse than before. Her shoulders had literally been basted with coconut substances and cooked for hours. The blisters ran deep around where her straps had been. MaxwelI heard her moan in agony as she tried the shower. She got out and ran the tub faucet and slowly sat down.
He tried to get up but his back had spasmed. "Babe. You okay?" He called out.
"Not sure. Think so. You?" She replied.
"I can't get up at the moment. Know that I would have checked on you if I could." He moaned and rolled over on his stomach.
"That's why I love you. I would come check on you but I barely got in the tub. This might be my new residence. Be sure to bring the kids by for holidays." Amanda tried to lean back and sucked in a painful breath.
After a little while she was able to get out of the tub. She tried to gently pat dry her messed up skin. Maxwell finally got up and walked in the bathroom. He averted his eyes. Her burns hurt just looking at them.
"I saw that. I know I look disgusting." She mumbled as she tried to put a t-shirt on. She gasped and breathed hard through the pain.
Maxwell shook his head. "You know I don't think that. It hurts me seeing you like that." He looked at her and frowned. "There is nowhere to kiss you that won't hurt."
Amanda reached for the boxers she stole from him. And slipped them on slowly. "That's better." She shuffled out and tried to sit down on the couch. "Nope." She got back into bed. The comforter was softer. Maxwell ran a shower and sighed as the hot water hit his sore spots.
He got dressed in pj bottoms and a shirt. He smiled and stretched out next to her. "You know...I had planned on the two of us spending most of the trip here. This wasn't what I had in mind."
Amanda laughed and barely kissed him. Her lips were raw but she couldn't resist.
And so it went for the following days. Finally, Maxwell's back stopped hurting. Amanda's burns, save for the very top of her shoulders, had healed. They decided to celebrate with a romantic night out.
Maxwell was tying his tie when Amanda stepped out in a little black dress and did a slow twirl. He let out a low whistle. "If I did not want to show you off so much, I would suggest we stay here." He ran his hands down her back as he kissed her.
She looped her arms around his neck, pulling him closer. He smiled, planning in his mind how the evening would go. It was going to be a night to remember.
2 hours later.
"Why does this place hate us so much?!" Amanda cried out. She heaved over the toilet. Maxwell was in the other bathroom heaving over his own. "I don't know. But I want to go home." He sighed and collapsed on the floor. Food poisoning. At a five star restaurant. Why?
After he knew nothing else would come up, he crawled out to check to see if he was a widower. It was too quiet in the other bathroom. He stuck his head in and saw her laying in the floor. Her chest was slowly moving up and down so he didn't have to worry. He crawled next to her and laid down.
"If it's cool with you, I'm going to die. You are such a great father that you and the girls will be fine." She whispered.
"You can't. I'm dying right now. One of us has to stay for the kids. They need you more. You're the perfect mom. Plus I think I just died during that last sentence."
Amanda rolled over slowly. She took his hand. "I'm going with you. The girls have all those godparents. It's safe for us both to die."
2 days later.
They finished packing what they could, ready to leave whatever level of hell they had stumbled into. Their jet was being made ready for the earliest possible departure. Maxwell glanced around at the room that had been a prison, hospital room, and a torture chamber. He opened the door to step out on the balcony when Amanda jumped in front of him.
"Are you crazy?! You step out there and either an anvil will fall on you or some giant bird knocks you off the balcony." She pushed him away and went to shut the door when a bat flew in.
They screamed and ran out of the room.
1 hour later
Their private jet seemed the best place to wait for the next 10 hours. They placed their bags down and reclined in their seats. Amanda opened her eyes and looked at the only man she knew who could make her laugh so much during so many crazy, rather painful situations. She gently touched his cheek. He opened his eyes and grinned. He kissed the hand against his cheek.
"I love you so very much." She whispered.
"I love you so very much too." He whispered back. He tucked a blanket around the two of them and pulled her close. He let out a contented sigh and went to sleep.

We Grow Together (34)
Pairing: Bucky Barnes x Tessa Sullivan (OFC)
Note: I know I haven't posted anything on this in FOREVER, so I'm gonna give not one but TWO chapters today! Also... shit's about to get weird in here...
Summary: Relationships can be tough, especially when one person is a recovering-from-being-brainwashed-and-tortured former assassin and the other is an overworked mutant scientist. But hey, every couple has their struggles. Right?
Tumblr media
“Hey,” he calls out as soon as he hears the door click open. “I’m in the kitchen.”
She turns the corner and saunters in. “I see that,” she says, casually leaning her hip against the counter.
He turns away from the stove to look at her and he can’t help the smile that spreads across his face. She looks… refreshed. Or relaxed. Or just… better. Her hands are still balled up in her sweater sleeves, and the dark circles under her eyes remain largely unchanged. But she looks like… Tessa. He notices a large dark stain on the front of her tan sweater and frowns a bit. “What happened there?”
She looks down, her face suddenly scrunching up in confusion. “I, uh… I spilled some coffee.”
His eyebrows shoot up. “Ouch.” And her face lightens as she releases a small chuckle. “You were gone a while,” he says with a lilt. “Thought I’d have to have Friday hunt you down.”
She smiles at him. “Oh, well, I know how you hate to communicate with the voice in the walls,” she intones, moving over to him and wrapping her arms around his waist.
“I really do.” He plants a lingering kiss on her crown, takes the time to breathe in the scent of her honeysuckle shampoo before giving her a quick, tight squeeze and turning back to the stove. “What did you do all day?”
“All day? I didn’t even get down there until almost noon.” She leans back and peers around him. “Are you making mashed potatoes?” she asks, positively beaming. “Real ones?”
“Real ones,” he repeats with disdain. “I told you I wouldn’t let you eat that fake flake crap ever again,” he says, waving a giant wooden spoon in her direction. Then, turning back to the pot he’d been stirring, “Thought you might actually eat this.”
She sidles up behind him and lays her chin on his shoulder, loosely wraps her arms around him from behind. “I might.”
The corners of his eyes crinkle as his face splits into a grin. His free hand falls to one of her wrists and he grips it lightly while stroking the back of her hand with his thumb. “You gonna tell me about your day or what, doll? Everything good at the lab?”
“Mm hmm.” She ducks her head and nuzzles into him, her words spilling onto his back when she says, “They had it under control.”
“I told you so,” he teases.
“I spent most of the day in my office, catching up.”
“Yeah?” He flips off the stove, sets down the spoon, and slowly turns around in her arms, draping his own around her. She looks up at him with only slightly tired eyes. But behind that hint of fatigue he can see the gleam that he’s missed so much over the past few days. He gazes at her for a long moment before asking playfully, “You fell asleep on the couch, huh?”
“Weren’t you the one who told me to relax?”
“Ah, yeah,” he says with a small laugh. “But when was the last time you did anything I said?”
“Two weeks ago,” she states, her voice dropping to a husky near-whisper as looks up at him beneath thick lashes. “You said to come with you. And I did.”
His eyes widen as he nods. “You did,” he confirms, remembering back to that night. “Two weeks?” His brow furrows for a moment before he lets out a tsk tsk. “Too long.” And he leans down to kiss her. It’s meant to be an almost chaste kiss. A quick though loving, I’ve missed you and I just want to feel you again kind of kiss. But she pulls him in and turns it into something so much more.
Her arms tighten around his middle and her hands drop further down his back. Her lips part from his just enough for her to let out a small moan into his open mouth as her fingers trace just beneath the waistband of his jeans. He bucks suddenly at the touch, pulling away with a laugh. “You’re hands are freezing!”
She wrenches away from him and frowns as she holds up her hands for inspection. “Sorry,” she mutters softly, staring at her fingers as she waves them slowly in front of her.
“Nothing to be sorry for,” he tells her, gently taking hold of her hands and bringing them to his lips. He slowly huffs hot breath on them and tries to rub some warmth into her skin. He smiles as he does so, and searches for her eyes. But his countenance drops when she refuses to meet his gaze, instead continuing to stare perplexedly at the fingers he has wrapped up in his. “Hey,” he says, giving her hands a firm squeeze. “You okay?”
She seems to snap to, taking in a sharp inhale as her eyes bounce up to his. “Yeah. Fine.”
He frowns at her. “You kind of spaced out for minute there.”
“Yeah, sorry.” She leans in and drops her head to his shoulder. “Still tired, I guess.”
She shivers next to him, so he brings her hands to his chest then lets go to pull the rest of her in. “And still cold?” he asks, folding himself around her. She curls into him and nods. “Well, we have homemade mashed potatoes and… not homemade fish sticks to warm you up.”
She barks out a laugh. “Fish sticks?!”
“Hey, it’s what we had.” He slowly unfurls himself and holds her out by the shoulders. His brow furrows as he takes a long, assessing look at her face. He’s trying to gauge whether or not she actually is fine. Her skin has more color – more pink to her cheeks. And her eyes are less dull. But… “What’s this?” he asks, tucking her hair back behind her ear. There, right at her temple, is a newly blossomed bruise.
“What?” Her hand rises to the spot he’s investigating. She touches her head and winces as she hits the tender bruise.
He grabs her fingers and pulls them away before they can painfully prod any further. “What happened?”
“I don’t know,” she says absently. “Maybe I was thrown around inside the trunk of a car.”
He raises a warning brow at her. Not funny. “That’s fresh, not days old.”
She spins away from him, eager to get away from the concerned glare. “I don’t know,” she repeats, pulling down a couple of plates from the cupboard. “Maybe I hit it on the headboard or something.”
He thinks for a moment. “Maybe. Sometimes you jump pretty hard when you wake up from a nightmare.” He takes the plates from her and moves over to the stove. “Go sit,” he orders, pointing to the table with his wooden spoon back in hand.
She lets out a petulant huff, but smiles contentedly as she moves across the room and curls her legs up beneath her in the dining chair. “About my day,” she begins, eager to change the subject. “I got the itinerary for Seoul.”
He raises a questioning brow at her as he approaches the table with full plates. “Okay,” he says, mentally preparing himself.
“I leave in two weeks,” she tells him, studying his face closely.
He exhales loudly as he takes a seat across from her. “Two weeks? That’s… soon.”
“Well, the deal’s supposed to be done by June. That doesn’t leave a lot of time.”
“Still…” He looks up at her with a concerned scowl. “I don’t know, baby. I think it’s too soon. And with everything going on right now… We don’t have a clue where Lobe is or what he’s doing.” She can feel his energy shift, the anxiety rising in line with the volume of his voice. “What if he’s out there looking for you? And you want to go off to the other side of the world? Alone?”
“I won’t be alone, though,” she interjects quickly. “Tony’s going too… apparently.”
He deflates a bit, a small wave of relief – very small – riding over him. “I still think – ”
“I know what you think,” she interrupts. “I know. But I’m not going to let Lobe or anyone else keep me from living my life.”
He reaches across the table and takes her hand. “I’m not saying you should,” he tells her tenderly. “I just think it’s bad timing.”
She shrugs and pulls her hand away. “It is what it is.” She picks up her fork and begins swirling it in the steaming pile of mashed potatoes on her plate. “Besides, I think that letting myself get lost in work for a while could be good for me.”
“So much for rest,” he issues out sardonically.
“It’s two weeks away. I’ll have time to rest.” He huffs out an obviously annoyed breath. “Work is good for me,” she tells him, setting down her fork and staring deeply into his eyes. With as much sincerity as she can muster, she says, “It’s always been good for me. It’s how I focus, how I escape… how I reconnect. Really, babe… I think I need this.”
He runs a tired hand over his face and lets out a long, resigned sigh. “Okay,” he says simply. Then, picking up his own fork and raising it in a pointed gesture, “If Stark can convince me that you’ll be safe.”
She laughs at the image being conjured in her head… the look on Tony’s face when he’s asked to prove that he can act the part of bodyguard. She can almost here his inevitable retort of, This suit could kick your ass to kingdom come, Tin Man. How dare you doubt me.
They sit in silence for several long moments as dinner commences. Tessa swallows a mouthful of mashed potatoes and he grins despite himself, so pleased that she’s actually eating something. One more large bite and she stops momentarily to say, a thoughtful look on her face, “I was thinking… It might be a good idea to change my name again.”
He raises a questioning brow. “Really?”
She shrugs. “Well… I don’t really want to. And I certainly don’t want to take on an entirely new identity and disappear or anything…”
“Good.”
“But Lobe does know my name. Which means others might too. And if they know… who I am… what I am…”
“Sullivan isn’t your real name?” he interrupts. “You said again.”
“It was Summers when I got adopted. I never told you that?” He shakes his head. “I changed it after medical school.”
“Why?”
She shrugs and pushes the potatoes around on her plate. “It’s the name I chose for my career. This promotion… it’s kind of like starting a new career. So maybe I should take a new name to go along with it.”
“Why couldn’t you have used the name Summers to… build your career?”
Expertly avoiding the question, she continues along her train of thought. “Not sure I should go with another S name, though. Maybe a T to go with Tessa, get some alliteration in there… Tessa Thompson?” She wrinkles her nose. “Wait, that sounds familiar. Is that someone?”
He shifts in his seat. “What about Tessa Barnes?” he offers nonchalantly before popping a fish stick into his mouth.
Silence. She looks up at him with wide eyes.
Bucky snorts out an indignant laugh. “Well, I like it anyway.”
She shakes her head, a small smile perking the edges of her mouth. “Sometimes I forget how old fashioned you are.”
“Plenty of women still change their names when they get married.”
She drops her gaze back down to her plate, shoves a fish stick off into a corner. “We’re not married.”
“We could be,” he says with a single cocked eyebrow. She side-eyes him and tries to hide a smile by  indelicately shoveling more potatoes into her mouth. He laughs and waves his fork at her. “See? I knew I could get you to eat something.”
There’s a hint of melancholy to her voice as she says, “I don’t know. I know it’s dumb… it’s just a name. But I’ve only ever been Doctor Sullivan. It’s who I am… who I made myself into.”
“You brought it up.”
“I know,” she replies with a frown.
He leans across the table and lays his metal hand atop her forearm, thumb gently stroking along the knobby fabric of her thick sweater. “Baby, you don’t have to change anything for me. And you sure as shit don’t have to change anything because of this Lobe guy.” She gives him a weak but grateful smile and he falls back into his seat. “But just so you know, our kids will have my name,” he announces with a wily wink.
Her eyes go wide once more. “You’re just going for it tonight, huh?”
He shrugs and with a mouth full of fish stick says, “Why not?” She raises her eyebrows as if to say, if you say so, and he swallows his food. “A few weeks ago, I would’ve been too scared to broach the subject,” he tells her in a more serious tone.
The thoughtful, almost grave look on his face makes her frown with concern. “The subject?”
“The future,” he says simply. “Our family.”
She looks back up at him, notices the glint in his eye. “Our family?”
“You just gonna repeat everything I say?” he asks with a chuckle.
Her forehead wrinkles in thought as she asks, “But why would you be scared?”
He takes in a deep breath and raises his brows before diving in. “You don’t always respond well to talks like this. Sometimes you just… shut down.”
“I do not,” she protests, utterly taken aback. He gives her a disbelieving glare. “I don’t!”
“You absolutely do,” he intones. “And I’m not saying I don’t get it. I know your family life was…”
“Careful,” she warns.
“It was different from mine. From most people’s.” He pauses, locking eyes with her briefly. “I do get it.”
Instead of arguing further, she simply rolls her eyes and asks, “But you’re not scared anymore?”
“Funny thing about watching the woman you love die,” he says, turning his gaze down to his plate as he begins absently tracing patterns into his potatoes with his fork. “It kinda makes everything else seem… not so scary.”
She sits and silently watches for a long moment, observes his slumped shoulders. Sees the way that just the mention of her…dying… causes him to fold in on himself. He looks small. And sad. And tired. The only other time she remembers seeing him this way was just after he attacked her in his sleep. It was strange really, he’d looked so innocent then, even though all he felt was guilt, blame.
This is different, though. She can see that. She can feel that. The same kind of dread is there, the same kind of sadness. But it isn’t guilt that he’s feeling now. It’s… apprehension.
She nudges him with her foot under the table, runs it along his shin. “Do you honestly think I’d ever say no to you?” she asks as he looks up and locks onto her eyes. “Is that what you were scared of?”
He shrugs, takes a moment to reset his shoulders as he shifts to sit upright in his chair. “You’d change your name for me?” he asks with a playful lilt. “If I asked you to?”
She does her best to hide the smile trying to take over her face. “Not like I haven’t done it before.” Her foot gradually moves into his lap, caressing his thigh, and he reaches beneath the table to take hold of it, flips off her shoe and starts gently kneading through the thick sock with his metal thumb. “I don’t even know what my real name is,” she says distractedly, a bit startled when he suddenly stops the massage and looks up at her, dumbfounded.
“You don’t know your real name?” She frowns deeply and slowly shakes her head, an odd feeling of shame washing over her. “Baby,” he breathes out sadly.
She pulls her foot out of his lap and sits up straight. “It’s fine,” she says quickly. It’s all she can think to say.
He nods. “Well…” And he leans across the table once more, taking her hand in his. “If you want it, you can make Barnes your real name… keep it for life.”
She smiles sadly and lets loose with a slight shiver, whispers almost to herself, “However long that might be.”
000
They make love that night. It’s passionate and intense and, above all else, desperate. It helps him to feel a little more assured that she’s really here with him. Here beside him, in one living and breathing piece. And it helps her to feel something other than the aching cold that’s been settling into her bones, deeper and deeper, all week.
Bucky stays awake after she drifts off. He leans back against the headboard and watches her sleep, seemingly peacefully. Her chest rises and falls with steady, even breaths. Her mouth parts just a bit, and he waits. But no odd, incoherent mumbles escape her. There’s no tossing or turning. No catching or gasping or screaming out in her sleep.
Eventually, he lies down beside her and drifts off as well.
Hours and hours pass with nothing but sound sleep encasing them both. Until, at about four in the morning, she wakes with a start. Her hand flies to her chest as she pulls in a sharp breath, suddenly jerking upright. Her eyes are wide and wild, trying to focus on something – anything – in the dark.
“You okay?” he asks, voice heady with sleep as he rolls over to face her.
She drops her left hand from her chest to his forearm as he makes a move to sit up. “Yeah. Yeah, I’m fine. Go back to sleep.”
“You sound out of breath,” he mumbles, reaching out and running his hand along her thigh. “C’mere.” He lays back down and motions for her to fall in beside him.
She looks down at him, at the space by his side where she belongs, the crook of his neck where her face fits so perfectly, the outstretched hand that she longs to feel trace along her spine. “No,” she utters absently. “I’m… I’m going to get a drink of water first.”
She feel his eyes on her as she scoots away from him and rolls out of bed. She pulls on the sweater that he had tugged off of her earlier, throwing into a heap on the floor. She closes the door most of the way when she steps into the bathroom – in part for privacy, and in part just to be polite and keep the light from blinding Bucky as he lays half asleep in their bed.
She turns on the faucet and reaches her hands beneath the water, hisses at the cold temperature, but splashes it onto her face none the less. She roughly drags her palms over her cheeks and stands up straight in front of the mirror. She stares for a moment, what feels like an eternal moment, as she takes in her reflection. It’s the strangest thing. As she stands there looking at herself in the mirror, she has only one thought running through her mind in a loop. Who the hell is that?

Chapter 8
***Italic = Text***
“So hi Lyon, I was wondering if you could come every day this week to work with me even if 15 minutes and”
Arg… I can’t ask him to come every day! And what can we do in 15 minutes seriously, Korimi you can be stupid sometime!
It’s been half an hour since I tried to text Lyon about our lessons this week. My exam is Friday, so only a week is left for me to make an impression on him with this plan. You are going to tell me « He is Gray’s brother and basically your friend now you can continue without the math». Hahaha I could, but I won’t.  I can’t talk to him without looking stupid while doing math, imagine with no subject of conversation at all? You guys are underestimating me. Time to try texting him again.
“Hi Lyon, I hope you had a great day! Since my exam is Friday, I was wondering how many days we could see each other for our little lesson this week? I don’t want to be a burden, but I need the maximum you can give me. I need to see you at least the day before, if it’s possible. Thank you!”
Send. I think it’s going to be okay. I hope.
I spent 30 minutes, on my bed, looking at the ceiling, waiting for Lyon to answer my text. When my phone rang, I took it so fast that I didn’t even remember taking it. Only to see that it was not Lyon, but my cousin texting me.
“Your sisters tried luring me with some cake so I visit you next weekend, make sure she does it and it’s not bullshit”
“How many she said she will do?”
“She said 3, I’m counting on you Kori, don’t mess up this mission”
“Alright captain!”
At least it wasn’t Sting, I would have killed him for making me think it was Lyon. I was going to put my phone down on the table again, when I received another text, probably Elleira again. OH! NO! IT’S HIM!
“I don’t think Wednesday will be possible, but I can see you the other days, well tomorrow, I have a night class so I can’t come to your house , but we could go eat together between 4pm and 7pm, what do you think ?”
Is He really asking me that?! If having a date, well not a date but you know, will bother me?! OMG. I think I’ve been squealing and fangirling for 15 minutes before I took the time to answer him, take a big breath Korimi and calm your fucking self a second!
“It doesn’t bother me at all, just tell me where and I’ll be there!”
“No don’t bother, I’ll come to your school and take you there”
Oh god…. I will seriously not concentrate at all at school tomorrow, I’m lucky there’s 2 days of class left and no exam.
***
“Korimi we need to talk! You can’t continue like this anymore!” Minerva said, sitting in front of me in the cafeteria.
“What did I do?” I ask, with big eyes.
“You were still daydreaming about Lyon this morning! Be a real woman and do something, if you can’t even say shit don’t think you’ll ever have a chance!”
“Ouch Minerva that’s brutal.” Orga said,  making  a weird face, laughing.
“Someone has got to help her and if I have to be mean, I will be!”
“And what do you want me to say?”
“Just flirt with him!”
“Excuse me?! Me flirt? I don’t know how to flirt and I don’t want to scare him away!”
“Well tell him you like him!”
“I can’t do that either!”
Minerva sighed and put her face in her hand. I think she is done with me. I’ll have to find someone else to beat up Sting with me.
“Sting, help me.”
“What? Why me?”
“You are the player here and she is your best friend, help her before she dies alone and sad.
“I am not a player!” Sting said, before looking at me. “So what you should do…”
Oh my god, Sting no.
***
So Minerva and Sting continued all day to give me stupid advice of how to have Lyon in my bed. Yeah, their advice sounded more like having him in my bed, not to make him fall in love with me … All they thought of telling me was to act stupid: Sting, Dress sexy: Both, make him see the asset I actually don’t have: Minerva, to just fucking tell him: Minerva. So I didn’t tell them, I was actually going to see him after class, I couldn’t imagine what could have come out of their mouth, if I would have told them.
At the end of the day, I didn’t leave anyone the time to talk to me, I yelled goodbye and just ran to my locker, before running again, outside. I was lucky, Lyon was already waiting in front of the school.
“Hi!” I said, entering his car and giving him the most beautiful smile.
“Hello, how are you?” He said, smiling at me then turning back to the road and started to drive.
“Really good, the day was relaxing and now I can spend time with you.”
Wait… Did I really say that? God. That must be because of Minerva.
“Stop you’ll make me blush.” He said, laughing. Well, that was not too embarrassing. “It's true that spending time with me is amazing, like you know how lucky you are right?”
I rolled my eyes and laughed, yeah I love him but he is full of himself.
***
He took me to this little café not far from his university, it was cute and the food was really great! And the cakes wow! I have to take Elleira here one day. She’ll hate me if I hide this paradise from her.
“So since we only have 3 days left for you to learn everything, today we are going to concentrate on one thing and tomorrow another one.” He said, looking at his textbook. “I found some exercises for you to do and Thursday we are going to study everything over again.”
Great… I’m lucky I’m good at math…
“What is it ? You look… depressed.” He said laughing. “Don’t worry it’s gonna be easy.”
“Oh! I know! It’s just... I like our little session, I’ll miss it a bit.” I said, laughing.
“Don’t worry, I like you, you are a good friend.” He said, winking at me. “It was fun and I am not going to stop seeing Juvia and you because you finished high school and you can come see me and Gray too sometimes.”
He said he liked me… He said he liked those sessions too… He said we will see each other again… he said I was his friend… And that wink...I think I can die happy now.
“Yeah I know and thank you for all of this.” I said, smiling.
“No problem! And I’ll make you a deal.” He started and I think I started sweating. “If you have a good grade, I’ll take you somewhere to eat, you deserve it after all those efforts.”
It was nice knowing you all, you can write today’s date as the date of my death, thank you.
“O-oh, you don’t have too! It’s normal I want to finish my high school years with good grades!”
“I insist, some people don’t care and don’t do the effort and you did!”
He is so kind, oh my god. I should have known 3 years ago, what Gray said about his brother was bullshit, now I want to know Ultear, she must not be as crazy as he said.
“Now that I said it, time to work Korimi.”
Oh yeah I forgot it’s not a real date.
***
“So how was your date?” Minerva said sitting again in front of me the next day.
“What date? I didn’t have a date!”
Ok now I was scared.
“Don’t think we didn’t think, you ran off so suddenly yesterday, weird. I think it’s actually the most suspect thing you did in your life, Korimi Lockser.”
“Minerva is right, it was extremely weird.” Rufus said, nodding.
“I was just in a hurry, it’s nothing weird, my sister needed me for something.”
“Don’t lie to us! Sting said, pointing a finger in my direction. “Rogue and I called Juvia and she said she didn’t know where you were!”
I looked at my best friend, who actually didn’t want to look at me. Rogue looked mad, it’s true he didn’t say much today, but it’s Rogue, he already doesn’t say much even to me.
“It really wasn’t a date…” I said, guilty. “He didn’t have time to come to my house to work so he asked me if I wanted to work in a café.”
“It sounds like a date.” Minerva said, eyeing me suspiciously. “Wait! What work?”
“It wasn’t, we just worked! And oh….”
Oh fuck, they don’t know about this, I fucked up !
“Korimi Lockser… what the fuck are you doing?”
“I asked Lyon to help me with math.”
“You what?”
“I lied to Lyon that I wasn’t good at math so he could help me get better, it’s been more than 2 week.”
The face of Minerva was the most disappointing face that I ever saw in my life. The others looked so shocked. It didn’t take long for Sting to laugh so loud that the entire school was looking at us.
“Did you know about this shit?” Minerva asked Rogue.
“Yeah, I do.”
“And you didn’t bother telling her it was the most stupid idea ever?!”
“Don’t worry I did, but she didn't listen.”
“I know it’s stupid, but it’s working! I exclaimed, but their faces didn’t change at all. He doesn’t love me yet, but now I can be proud to say that he considered me a friend at least, it’s just a matter of time.”
“Yeah, if it makes you feel better.” Minerva said, sighing and hit Sting on the shoulder. “Shut your mouth you!” She said as he flinched and turned back to me. “I hope you will tell him this stupid bullshit when everything is finished, you can’t lie until you die.”
“Yeah, yeah I will.”
“And I hope, you are at least trying to flirt with him, not just act stupid.”
***
Now that everyone knows about my little plan, I felt really ashamed of myself. It’s true that it’s not right, I did that because I was scared of telling him how I feel and I'm not even trying to flirt with him even a bit…. Ah…
The second night that we worked together, I didn’t really talk. I felt weird and he must have thought it was the stress, because of my exam the next day. Today was Thursday and tomorrow would finally be my math exam. Which also means the last day of our little lesson. This time I’ll try to be more talkative and use this occasion for real.
***
“Today we will study everything, I’ll ask you what you should do in diverse questions, how to find the answer to the problem and if you have a hard time I’ll give you an example of what you could do with this kind of questions, is it alright?”
“Yeah, I understand, I’ll do my best.”
This time I didn’t mess up my answers, well a little because it would be a little bit too suspect. He looked so proud of me, I was getting really scared of his reaction when I would tell him, I was lying all this time. After an hour, we decide to take a little break.
“Is university taking all your time, I mean, is it really hard to see your friends?”
“Well for me yes, because it’s a really difficult job that I will do in the future, you can’t messed up anything, so I have to study really hard, but sometime I have to take a break, with the exam coming up for me too,  if I don’t take a break, I’ll just go crazy, but it depends, what do you want to do?
“I want to become a teacher, an English teacher.”
“Ok, well I can assure you it will be a lot less difficult to have a life.” He said, laughing.
“Do you have time to… date?”
He looked at me surprised and blushed. I need to know if he actually wants to date or not!
“It’s hard, but not impossible, if the person knows I can’t always be free I could, but for now nothing big is happening.
Don’t worry, I’ll wait for you all the time you need!
“Okay, I never had a boyfriend so I wanted to know if I’ll be single until I finish university” I said, laughing.
“I can’t believe you never had a boyfriend, someone as pretty and kind as you” He said, smiling and I melted. Oh my god! He is complimenting me. “And intelligent! In less than 3 weeks you progress so much in math!”
Hahaha… yeah…
“Thank you.” I said, furiously blushing.
“I mean you are Juvia's sister after all, it must run in the family.”
I’ll just forget he just said that, I don’t know how to take it.
“I would love to date someone like you.” I said, trying to sound like I was joking, but I couldn’t be more serious.
“Hahaha I don’t think so, you’ll find someone better than me.” He laughed, ruffling my hair.
Well it failed. I'll just stop for today then.
“We should get to the rest, it’s already 8pm.”
“Yeah we should.”
I didn’t have the courage to say anything more to him. I guess, I’ll just wait until I have my result to confess. Because yeah, it’s decided, next time I’ll confess ! I can’t continue like this anymore, Minerva is right.

The Origin of Eyeless Jack
Click… click… click…
Jack continued pressing the button on the remote, idly watching the different channels pop up before changing again. Nothing really came on during the weekends, surprisingly. Nothing but 'Paid Programing' and other TV shows he didn't enjoy. Sighing, the college student rose up from his sofa, making his way to the desk resting against the wall next to his bed. He was already done with homework, finishing most of it in class that day. Unlike his roommate, Jack could get his shit done fast enough to have the rest of the day to himself to do whatever.
He wasn't feeling to play any video games. Didn't really want to drive out anywhere. Swiping his black hoody off his chair, Jack slipped it on and grabbed his dorm keys shoving them in his pocket after closing the door behind him. A nice walk around the campus should do the trick. Fresh air usually calmed him, if not helped him think. Lately he'd been feeling… different. He knew it wasn't his body, or college itself. He didn't have any girlfriends to worry about. He just felt different without any explanation. It gave him a headache he was thinking so hard. Jack rubbed his temples, pushing the door leading outside with his foot. A gust of wind swept across slamming the door behind him.
It was around 6PM, the sky was mixed with both orange and blue. The further the sky grew the darker it got. Curfew, surprisingly, was 12 o'clock Midnight. He never really questioned it vocally, but always wondered why it was so late. Usually curfew was around 8PM where he lived.
"Hi Jack!" The male looked up to see one of the girls in his class. She most likely left class, considering she still had her book bag on her shoulder. Jack half smiled and rose a hand to greet her. It was-- oh, what was her name? Jenny! Jenny Smith.
"Hey Jenny. Just now leaving class?" Jenny smiled and nodded her head, adjusting the strap. "It's pretty late, what made you stay so long?" The girl's smile lost it's brightness for a split second before reviving.
"Oh… Just a study session. We have finals comeing up soon y'know. Best to stay on the ball." She giggled before tucking her hair behind her ear. "What are you doing out here anyway? It's gonna storm tonight." Jack shrugged his shoulders before eyeing the sky, smelling the air for moisture. Yep. It would rain any second.
"Just came out for some fresh air is all. Got done with homework in class 'n stuff. Didn't feel like playing any video games or watching TV. So I came out here." Jenny nodded her head every so often, showing him she was paying attention, and smiled again.
"Hehe, well, you got your air. I gotta go though, I'll see you later!" Before Jack could reply with a goodbye, the girl quickly dashed off past him, following the sidewalk up around the side of the dorms. Jack rose a brow in curiosity, his mind zipping with questions. Only to have it cut off by a drop of rain-- then another, and another.
"Shit." He muttered, running back to the door to get back inside, not wanting to get too soaked in the rain. Another slam of the door rose up behind him. Jack started shaking his fingers through his hair, sending water droplets everywhere while wiping off the rain from his face and jacket. As he made his way back up to his dorm room Jack began fishing through his pockets for his keys, whistling a random tune while he traveled up the two flights of stairs. Listening to his tune echo out in all directions. It was kinda creepy, now that he thought about it… Where WAS everyone? It was too quiet for a Friday evening. There was usually people up and about… maybe lots of students staid behind for tutoring. Maybe some went home for a weekend. Maybe people are already in bed, or in their dorms. Being very… very, quiet.
Jack sighed as he began unlocking the door, shoving his keys back in his pocket after the door closed behind him.
"Yo Greg! You here?" Nothing. No response. Just the sound of rain hitting against windows. "Huh.. guess he's studying too…" That's a first. Jack made his way over to his bed, slumping down to get ready to sleep. He pulled off his hoody, kicked his shoes off, and rolled over to face the wall, not bothering with the covers. He just wanted some sleep. Closing his eyes, Jack slowly began dozing off. The rain practically lulling him to sleep.
"Praise Chernobog, for his bloodstained hands will bring salvation to us all! HE shall bring us closer to our everlasting paradise! HE is our lord and savior! Praise Chernobog! Praise Chernobog!!"
Jack let out a gut wrenching gasp for air, waking in a cold sweat. His eyes darted from one corner to another before rising up from his spot. He panted, feeling his hands tremble from the dream he just had. Jack looked around his room, relieved that his roommate Greg was in his bed. He could tell he was fast asleep from the dreaded snoring that came out of him. He himself was surprised he could sleep through it. Slowly exhaling through his mouth, Jack rose up from his bed, staggering to the mini fridge on the other side of the room. His mind churning questions. What kind of dream WAS that?? Never had he experienced one so… so real. Grabbing a water bottle from the mini fridge, Jack began gulping down the bottle, not caring if he woke up Greg.
Letting out a cold sigh Jack tossed the now empty bottle into the recycling bin, now making his way to the bathroom. He stopped in front of the mirror, hands gripping the sides of the sink as he eyed himself. He was pale, eyes border lining bloodshot. Groaning, he let his head hang low, fighting the urge to vomit. "Man… What the fuck…" He murmured, running his hand across his forehead to wipe away more sweat. That's what I get for playing those survival horror games. He though to himself, slightly smiling as he began brushing off the whole thing. Get it together Jack, it was only a dream. Dreams don't come true. You've just played too much Silent House is all. No big deal. Just go back to sleep, and get some decent rest. "Easier said than done…"
That morning, Jack felt someone shake him awake.
"Dude, Jack, wake up bro, you've GOT to see this." Jack let out a tired, irritated groan from under the covers, slowly pulling them down to see what Greg wanted. The blonde grinned and flashed a photo on his phone in his face. "Guess who got laid last night." It was a picture of some topless girl on his lap, posing for the camera.
"… She looks drunk." Jack muttered sleepily, his hand slowly rubbing the sleepies from his eyes. Greg blew air through his pursed lips, rolling his eyes as he closed his flip phone.
"You're just jealous."
"Bullshit. I'd rather have a life than get some chick pregnant at college."
"Touche good sir, but fuck you, I use protection."
"Whatever…" Jack began pulling his covers back over his head, feeling the weight of his friend rise up off his bed. Good, he could get back to sleep.
"Dude, I had such a weird dream last night." Jack paused when his mind processed the word 'weird dream' and was instantly awake.
"… Really…? Me too… What was it about?" Greg shrugged his shoulders, his fingers flying across the numbers on his cell, forming a text to his girlfriend.
"I had a dream where my grandma blew up like a balloon and started chasing me around with a giant fly-swatter." Jack's fear and anxiety dropped. He turned his head to look at him.
"… What the hell dude." Greg laughed after snapping his cell shut.
"I know right?? Fucking hate that hag. Won't surprise me if she completely dislikes me. I broke so much shit in her house as a kid." Jack rolled his eyes, fully pulling the covers over his head, wanting to get more sleep in. Greg looked over and rose a brow. "You said you had a dream right? You remember it?" Jack laid there in silence, wanting him just to leave already. The blonde furrowed his brow and began nudging Jack's back with his foot. "Come onnn, tell me. I know you're awake."
"… I had a dream about some guy 'preaching'."
"And you say MY dream is weird."
"I never said your dream was weird. But it is."
"Anyways, go on." Greg pulled his knees up, resting his arms on them as he listened. Jack sighed and rose up from his warm salvation of sleep.
"There was this guy preaching about some guy named 'Chernobog'. And that he'd lead everyone to paradise with bloodstained hands. They were dressed in these weird looking robes and wore these weird masks..." Jack looked over to his friend, watching him give a weirded out look.
"… Bro, you've played WAYYY to much Silent House." Jack smiled a little and shrugged his shoulders. Relieved that his friend had said his thoughts the night before.
"What can I say? I love horror games."
Jack spent most of his morning studying for finals, wanting to get school-related things out of the way before he could enjoyed his weekend. Greg left to meet up with his girlfriend, telling Jack he'd be back around 6. It was usually on Sundays when the two sat down together and played one of the many video games that had until it was time for bed. For Jack that is. Sighing, he turned the last page over on his notes packet, memorizing his handwriting slowly. Suddenly, a knock at the door tore him from his studying. Jack turned his head and eyed the door, then rose up from his desk to answer the door. Pulling it open, he was surprised to see Jenny standing in front of the door. "Oh… Hey Jenny." Jenny smiled and waved.
"Hi Jack! What are you doing inside on a Saturday?" Jack looked back to his desk before turning back to the girl.
"I'm getting my studying done early so I can enjoy the rest of the day with relaxation." Jenny nodded her head understandingly and placed her hands on her hips.
"Well, I'm sure you've done enough studying, you should come outside. Everyone's doing something today." Jack mentally sighed in relief. Good, so people WERE here today.
"I'll come out when I'm done. I guess…" Jenny giggled and nodded again.
"Hehe, okay~! See you later!" As just like that, the student was off in a flash. Jack smiled a little before closing the door, making his way back to his desk. He sat down and began rereading the page of notes, keeping everything fresh on his mind.
Then it hit him. How did Jenny know where his dorm room was..? They never really talked to eachother, let alone shared dorm room numbers. It kinda gave him a creepy feeling at first. But then his realist side thought otherwise. Maybe she saw you come into this room once without you noticing. Maybe Greg had told her what room he lived in, and it just so happened that Greg and he shared rooms. Shaking his head in frustration, Jack rubbed his temples.
"You're just overanalyzing everything Jack. No need to fret over pointless stuff.." He said to himself, running his fingers through his hair. Maybe he was done studying for the day. Again, he swiped up his hoody off his chair and slipped it back on, along with his shoes before heading outside. When he got to the bottom of the stairs, he felt himself breath another sigh of relief when he saw how many students were up and about. Glad to know he wasn't going crazy.
He watched as some people played ball, tossing either a football or baseball. Girls were huddled in groups outside, talking about lord knows what, not that he cared. He was just happy to see people. Just then, a hand crept over his shoulder. Jack looked back to see it was, none other than Jenny. Again. "O-oh, hey Jenny." The girl smiled.
"Hehe you're outside of that dark room! Took my advice to come out eh?" Jack smiled nervously, giving a nod or two. "You should hang out with me and my friends. We're gonna go for a walk in the woods." Jack rose a questioning brow.
"For what?" Jenny laughed.
"We're just hanging out at our place. Come on, don't be a wuss." Jack felt a little hesitant at first, but he slowly came around and agreed to follow. Jenny grabbed him by the hand and began tugging him along, making sure he was close. "Hurray! Off to the Cave!"
"The Cave?" Jack asked, watching the forrest grow bigger with every step.
"Our hangout silly! Sarah found it at the beginning of the year, so we decided to make it a hangout area for us."
"Us?" Jack asked again, looking back over his shoulder watching the school slowly get consumed by trees.
"Me, Sarah, Bobby, Fred, and Luna. You ask a lot of questions." Jack couldn't help but let out a nervous laugh.
"Sorry, I don't mean to. I've been having a rough weekend is all." Jenny looked back at him and smiled.
"It's okay! We all have our days."
As minutes passed, the two walked around what seemed like an invisible path that only Jenny could see. Jack couldn't help but begin to worry. He was about to open his mouth to ask another question, until the girl released his hand, punching her fists in the air. "We're here~!" She sang, running ahead of the boy. Jack looked up to see a rather large cave next to a babbling brook. He watched as two girls and boys appeared from inside it, greeting Jenny happily-- until they saw Jack. Their smiles faded and they began leaning in to Jenny, whispering while keeping their eye on him. Jack felt a little nervous, feeling as if he shouldn't be there at all and that he should be back at his dorm room playing Silent House. But, Jenny looked back as well, gesturing him to come forwards like it was okay. The brunette took a deep breath before making his way over, eyeing over everyone but Jenny. All of them still didn't look pleased, despite their forced smiles.
"Uhh… hey." Jack rose a hand giving a wave. Sarah eyed him over before crossing her arms.
"Hi." She said bluntly.
"Hey." Said Bobby and Luna.
"Sup?" Fred smiled, shoving his hands in his pockets.
"What's he doing here Jen? I thought it was just going to be you." Jenny rolled her eyes at Sarah's statement and wrapped an arm around Jack, her free hand patting him on the chest.
"I thought it would be cool if you guys met Jack. He's a really cool guy, honest!" Luna and Bobby looked at one another while Fred nodded.
"I've heard about him. Straight A student, smart kid." Fred walked over to Jack and began leading him inside the cave, rambling on about what kind of video games he liked. Leaving the group outside. Sarah shot daggers towards Jenny. Jenny gave a stink eye back.
"What the Hell do you think you're doing Jen?? You can't let outsiders into--"
"He's not going to find anything out. Be nice for a change, Sarah." Sarah glared, then grumbled under her breath, following after Fred. Luna and Bobby looked at one another before going in as well.
The group settled inside, everyone huddled around a fire in a circle. Jack sat in between Jenny and Fred while the others completed their small circle. Jack felt uncomfortable, especially with Sarah giving dirty looks every so often. But surprisingly, the evening wasn't all too bad. Everyone got to know a bit more about him, asking questions and talking about what they enjoyed doing, talking about school and exams. Jack looked around the cave as they spoke. It was cool inside. They had tables and desks, places where they set up books. They even had a compartment for food. It really was like a place to hang out. I guess I worried about nothing. Jack thought, smiling at the comment Fred made. There was a sudden clap of thunder from the distance, causing the group to look up at the entrance of the cave.
"ANOTHER storm??" Sarah complained, rising up with a book bag over her shoulder. "I'm leaving, last thing I want to do is get caught in the storm. Bye." Sarah turned on heel and ran over to her bike resting up against a tree, and rode off back to the school. Luna and Bobby both rose up together.
"We don't want to get wet either… We'll catch you guys later, okay?" Luna said, smiling over at Jack and the others. The duo both pulled their book bags up off the ground, running off to try and beat the storm. Fred didn't move.
"I'm gonna stay here for a bit, there's some things I need to get back here. You guys can go on ahead if you want." Jack looked to Jenny before getting up off the stool.
"Yeah, I'm gonna go back too. Greg is probably back and might be wondering where I am." Jenny smiled up at him and nodded.
"Okay! I'm gonna help Fred, just follow the same path back to the school. I'll see you later, Jack." Jack smiled and waved goodbye to the two, he too making his way out of the cave and into the forrest. It shouldn't be too hard to get back, if he followed Luna and Bobby from afar.
An hour passed. Jack began unlocking his dorm door with his keys, opening up the door to find Greg on his laptop on the sofa. Greg looked up and smiled.
"Yo Jack. Where've you been?" He asked, surprised that Jack had stepped out altogether.
"I was invited to come look at some 'secret base' in the forrest behind the school." He replied, closing the door behind him while he began kicking off his shoes. Greg rose a brow closing his laptop.
"Oh really? Invited by who?"
"You know that Jenny girl in our first period class?" Greg's smile slowly faded.
"Dude, she's weird…" Jack furrowed his brow in confusion.
"What do you mean she's weird? Weird like how?" Greg looked away nervously before answering.
"You know what kind of shit she reads? She has like, books upon books about these freaky-ass cults. I shit you not." Jack rolled his eyes before walking over to his dresser. "Dude, I'm serious! You probably shouldn't hang out with her. People who read that stuff are messed up in the head."
"Yeah yeah, whatever." Jack replied, rummaging around through his clothes. "I'm gonna take a shower. We have another storm coming." Greg blinked and looked back at their window.
"Aww man, really? I was going to go out with Gabby tonight…" He moaned sadly, watching the clouds churn into a deep grey. Jack chuckled at his friend before going into the shower.
"Jack. Jack wake up! Wake up Jack!" Jack felt Greg shake him, groaning in anger.
"Uuugh what?? What is it??" He asked, looking up at a nervous Greg. Greg looked over to the window.
"Dude, someone's out in the forrest lighting fires." Jack rubbed his eye with his palm.
"Do what?"
"Someone, is outside, lighting fires. Look!" Greg pulled him out of his bed and pointed out towards the forrest. Jack sighed, still rubbing his eyes before looking out the window. To his surprise, there was a fire lit. But it was far back into the woods. Almost around the area where Jenny's 'select base' was.
"Well I'll be damned… There is a fire." He muttered, noticing that the storm had stopped. "What time is it?"
"2AM."
"We should go check it out. That looks like it's where their little hideout is." Greg gave Jack a freaked out look of 'you're out of your fucking mind'. "What?? I'm sure there's a perfectly good explanation why someone's out there lighting fires."
"Yeah, for cults." Jack shot him a look.
"Dude get over yourself. There is NO cult."
"I call bullshit. I'm not going." Jack smirked.
"You chicken?" He asked, watching Greg get flustered.
"Dude, seriously, don't go. Last thing you want is getting in trouble…" Jack rolled his eyes.
"Whatever, I'm going to check it out. If there's anything wrong, I'll report it to the headmaster." Jack changed out of his pajamas, dressing in jeans, a blue t-shirt along with his black hoody and shoes. Pulling out their emergency flashlight from the desk drawer, Jack walked over to the door. "I'll see you in a bit." He called out, watching Greg shake his head.
"Curiosity killed the cat man, killed the cat!" He called back, watching the door close.
Jack pulled his hood up over his head and began making his way down the stairs. It was probably just Jenny and her friends hanging out at their spot late at night. I mean, loads of people do that, right? The second he walked outside, Jack felt the air shift from normal to damp and chilly. He began making his way towards the forrest, using the flashlight as much as he could to follow the path Jenny led him down the previous day. Jack started growing nervous, listening to the sounds of life of night in the forrest. Easy now Jack, there's absolutely nothing that can hurt you in this forrest. Nothing.
Minutes passed as Jack finally began getting closer to the cave Jenny showed him before. He could see the dim light from afar, and talking. Loud talking, but it didn't sound like Jenny or Bobby, or anyone else from their group. The closer he got, the clearer the voice. Turning off his flashlight, Jack peeked around a tree. What he saw shook him to his core. There, standing outside of the cave was a group of robed people. Judging by their height, they were students. Both male and female. They all wore black robes and blue mouthless masks with big eyeless holes. One of them began stepping up to a podium. He rose his hands up in the air.
"Thank you, my brothers and sisters for joining me this night of nights. Tonight is the night when we summon our lord and savior, Chernobog!" The group below him cried and called out things like 'Praise Chernobog!' and 'All hail Chernobog!'. "Tonight is the night, when Chernobog will choose his sacrifice! The one who will lead us to paradise and free us from this Hell!" The group of students began cheering, chanting the name of 'Chernobog'.
Jack shook his head in disbelief, slowly backing up from the tree he hid behind.
"Oh my god… there really IS a cult!" He murmured. Jack turned to run back to the school, only to be stopped by Jenny, who was standing there the whole time. "J-Jenny! Thank god you're here!" Jack ran over to her. "Th-there's this cult thing, w-we got to go tell someone!" Jenny smiled.
"Cult? There is no cult, Jack. You're just overreacting." She chuckled, suddenly feeling Jack shake her by the arms.
"NO! Listen to me! We need to get out of--" Jack's words were cut off from a rock against his head. His eyes fluttered slightly, stumbling back before collapsing on the ground with a thud. Blurry figures began circling around him as he watched Jenny smile down at him. Then everything went black.
Jack awoke from a bucket of cold water being dumped over his head, blood trickling down the side of his head onto his ear and side of his face. He winced, feeling his head throb in pain. The second he remembered the last thing he saw, he gasped, looking up to see that he was sitting in front of everyone. His arms were held firmly behind his back. The leader of the cult walked up in front of him and smiled under the mask.
"Chernobog has found his sacrifice! Hail Chernobog!" He called, listening as the group repeated the phrase. Jack attempted to struggle, the pain of his head fighting against him. "You shall become one of Chernobog's sons, the chosen one to live upon this wretched world and do his bidding." The group cried the phrase once more. Jack shook his head as fast as he could.
"N-no… No! All of you are crazy! Let me go!!" He yelled, letting out a yelp of pain from his arms being twisted. The leader laughed, turning to the group behind him.
"Come! My brothers and sisters, help me change this nonbeliever into the son of Chernobog!" The group chanted the phrase, stepping closer to form a large circle around them. "Praise Chernobog, for his bloodstained hands will bring salvation to us all! HE shall bring us closer to our everlasting paradise! HE is our lord and savior! Praise Chernobog! Praise Chernobog!!" He cried once more. Jack listened as the group began chanting in a different language, he felt his heart beat grow faster, watching one of the group members walk before them with a tray of tools and other queer objects. The person pulled their mask off, revealing it to be Jenny. She smiled taking a spoon from the tray.
"Isn't this great Jack? The great lord Chernobog has chosen you to be his son!" Jack shook his head, tears flooding his eyes. "I never knew you'd be the one."
"No! Jenny no! Please, please don't do this!" He begged, watching her stop in front of him. She giggled placing her hand on his forehead.
"All hail lord Chernobog~."
The girl then stabbed the spoon in his left eye, ignoring the cries of pain Jack let out. He squirmed and struggled agains the two who held him down feeling his eye being gorged out from it's socket. "Hold still Jack! You'll make me kill you." Jenny said with complete calmness as she began working on his other eye, watching blood spirt and trickle down his face, still ignoring his cries and pleas. The leader stepped in, holding a bowl of black hot ooze in his hands.
"Behold, the sight of Chernobog!" He called, watching Jenny hold his head still and began pouring the tar-like liquid inside his eye sockets. Jack let out a bloodcurdling scream of pain, feeling the substance overflow and trickle down his eyelids. Placing his hand on Jack's forehead, the leader began chanting the same language as the others, watching as Jack's body become limp and lifeless. He watched as Jenny held a book open to a passage of a different language.
Rise great lord Chernobog
Rise and take vessel of the sacrifice we give you
Give yourself to this vessel
Be one with this vessel
Rise great lord Chernobog
Rise
Rise
Rise
Rise
Panting heavily, Jack rose up from the now dead body of Bobby, yanking off the mask he wore like the others. Standing up, he looked over the massacre he created. Every single person was dead. Masks torn off, throats slashed, guts cut open, eyes gouged out. His hood and pants stained with blood. Scalpel in hand, Jack turned to the last living person. Jenny, border lining death, watched as he stepped above her. His skin had turned black, teeth sharpened to a point, nails long and sharp. He wasn't human anymore. She smiled, blood leaking from her mouth as she spoke.
"R-release me… into ever..lasting… paradi..se…." Jack growled low, teeth showing.
"You don't deserve paradise… none of you do…" He knelt down, swiping the mask from the ground. "Burn in Hell. ALL, of you." Jenny watched as he pulled the mask on, the black substance trickling down onto the mask from his eyes. She grabbed ahold of his ankle weakly, begging to be released to paradise. Only to have him pull away from her before walking off into the shadows. She cried, tears rolling down her face as she called out to him until her last breath.
This just in! A group of students have been slaughtered at West Point College. Autopsy reveals everyone's kidneys have been removed for reasons unknown. Many believe it has to do with a supposed cultist act at the school. Student Jack Nichols has been reported missing. More tonight at 9.
