So the thing that gets me about Starlo — the thing that really gets me — is how much this guy hates himself.

It's not something you notice the first time you're playing, because he's so confident and enthusiastic. He'd almost be cool if he wasn't such a dork. But after replaying the game with the context of where he came from, — and I'll admit, after reading some very interesting, in-depth fanfics and analysis about him, I'll try to link them if I find them again — his character becomes a bit... blurred. How much of this is Starlo, and how much of it is North Star?

Because- because the whole point of his sheriff persona is that he gets to be someone else, isn't it? When he's out there rootin' and tootin', acting out his hero fantasies and trying to imitate the characters from the westerns he admires, he becomes someone much cooler than himself. North Star is everything Starlo wishes he was: the fearless leader, the cunning cowboy, the confident sheriff who saves lives and wrangles bandits and hangs out with humans. Not just some nobody farmer who could disappear in the corn field without anyone noticing, not the son who wastes his time on daydreams.

He craves praise so deeply. That's the big difference between Star and Papyrus, I think, because Papyrus is just so unapologetically himself, while Star... he starts spending more and more time with this mask of greatness he made himself. Because people like North Star. Not Starlo.

North Star is a real sheriff. Not Starlo.

North Star is the one who brings help and hope and fun to monsters. Not Starlo.

North Star is the one worthy of being appreciated. Not Starlo.

And like... he wants to be liked so badly. So much effort is put into making sure North Star is good enough that Starlo tends to assume people hate him. He assumes his parents hate his life choices (they don't; they're proud of him and know he cares), he assumes Clover will laugh at him when he shows his face to them (they don't; despite everything, it's still him), he assumes the reason he fell out with his friends is because he wasn't a good enough sheriff (he knows damn well it wasn't actually Clover's fault, he's not THAT stupid. But he's still desperately grasping at the last pieces of his shattered persona, so if he just works harder, if he does what a real sheriff does and captures this human, then everything will be alright, won't it?)

I really wish we could have gotten more insight on Starlo's relationships and personality before the whole Wild East thing consumed him. Ceroba and the Feisty Five say they miss the old Starlo, but we never really get to know who the old Starlo was. And I don't think he knows either.

Wake the hell up, Star. People started liking you before you were North Star. Go eat some corn and calm down.

Point is, the impostor syndrome goes hard and that's such a mood. He was supposed to be the cool and silly cowboy guy, what the fuck–

Ventress is really enjoying being the master for once huh. she finds an untrained clueless young force sensitive and immediately goes full Yoda mode with the balance-stuff-on-your-head test and accompanying cryptic commentary

and it's even funnier when you remember that qui gon in TPM checked anakin's midichlorians with basically a covid rapid test

Hello!!! I love your blog a lot, just discovered it! I was wondering, could you perhaps do a board of one of these two girlies from my clangen blog, concreteclan? Your choice on which one! If you go for Lorn, could it be themed around a deeper colored yellow/gold, stars, and maybe like. cave paintings? Like from the stone age. If thats possible, i know thats not really an established aesthetic lol. If you go for Indigo, could there be some lavender, butterflies, maybe some vaguely religious Christian stuff and of course, the color indigo?

I NEVER POSTED THIS EVEN THOUGH I MEAN TO!!! SO SO SO this is Stick and he is from an au where, shocker of shocks, Jayfeather’s stick is actual cat. he was born in the same time period and has similar circumstances to Fallen Leaves In the AU things would basically play out the same way but instead of a stick it’s Stick! The cat His backstory was basically that he was a sort of assistant to Rock, pretty young, around Jaypaw’s age when they met. He was the one that kept count of the cats going into the tunnels, instead of Rock scratching it on a stick. He was a companion to him mostly because he was a small soft-paw and felt bad for this old man who did this very sad and lonely job. When Fallen Leaves goes into the tunnels, Stick is worried since the weather turned bad quickly; and goes and tries to find an opening but dies in basically a mud-slide that formed from the heavy rain. He is kind of stuck wandering the lake shore and the water where he was washed away but can come out in the rain which is when Jaypaw meets him. From then it happens the same; Jaypaw is the first cat his age that can hear him and like, but of course not see him. So it's a bit of confusion since Jaypaw is first like “a riverclan apprentice… no? A rogue?!?!?!” a cat who isn't blind could see how his scars glow oddly and how he is... faded. But Jaypaw assumes he is just a normal cat and Stick… doesn’t mention it for the longest time. He gets Rock when the apprentices are in the tunnels saving kits because he doesn’t know where the tunnels open into the lake, and Jayfeather grows up with him basically. Jayfeather gets very frustrated, of course, after everything that happened in The Apprentice’s Quest; and when Rock comes to him just to be a huge jerk: Stick tries to wrongly defend him, leading Jayfeather to snap at him (pun intended) and tell him to go away; at which point he goes back to the lake. It's like that for a while until he is actually the one to tell him that Ivypool and Dovewing are in the tunnels; and at that point they make up and he meets Fallen Leaves again! Because Fallen Leaves had come out to say goodbye to Hollyleaf. They have a ‘after all this time’ sort of moment and Jayfeather feels more at ease that they won’t be so lonely Now in Dovewing's silence he comes with Rock and Midnight and basically explains how this is a small goodbye; they can still meet if Jayfeather comes down to the lake but now he is stuck to it again; but they will see each other again. And he takes a moment to tell Jayfeather not to be sad, he has a new friend now! And well… he made a few friends recently too. And that they’ll be alright. I dunno man. I thought of it randomly and it made me sad so I had to draw it. But I like this character. He is stuck at the age he died like a Starclan cat and is just a kid, a very kind and anxious cat. He’s nice
