so im rewatching the centaurworld finale, and i just realized why i vibe with the nowhere king so hard:
he's fucking autistic.
like,..
on the one hand you have the general, who is this confident, charming, effortlessly cool Normal Guy, right?
and then you have the elk/nowhere king, who:
has a blank stare 90% of the time
speaks in a flat or unnatural-sounding tone
is blunt and honest to an uncomfortable degree
has no concept of personal space
cannot make eye contact like a normal person
obsessed with exactly one (1) thing, and talks about it until he is explicitly asked to stop
unironically uses the word 'mayhaps'
and like... he honestly doesnt even seem to realize how weird his behavior is?
that's what really gets to me. bc the original elktaur was so self-conscious about how others perceived him, but the nowhere king just... isnt. he gave his last fuck long ago. he doesnt even remember what normal is. hes in full autism overdrive at all times, and is not the tiniest bit sorry about it.
basically nwk is the literal embodiment of "do not kill the part of you that is cringe, kill the part that cringes" and i just think thats really based of him

H u s h, the Nowhere King sleeps
made for the @fragile-things-zine Centaurworld Zine
(ID: An aerial view of the skeletal remains of an eldritch elk with too many legs and rib cages lying on red/black/blue ink- or blood-like sludge, curled up in a circle. At opposite is the General, likewise lying on the ground. Morning light gives the bones an orange glow. Maybe they're dead or maybe they're just sleeping.)

Apparently another too-prolific-to-be-legit zine finance mod ghosted a bunch of projects. If you've preordered a fanzine based on FE3H, Genshin Impact, Pandora Hearts, Witch Hat Atelier, Centaurworld, or VLD, check the project's social media to make sure it hasn't been effected.
The mod goes by Cym, with the handle @/kroalias, and it looks like this has been building since at least early August. They currently have 41 zines listed as in-progress on their carrd.
In a really weird "coincidence," this person was also the finance and formatting mod on a Hualian zine that was cancelled early this year? If anyone saw this go down, it was the one that accused a skilled artist of plagiarism and tracing, kicked this artist from the project, and then made a public statement lying about the reason behind the expulsion and asserting that they never made such an accusation at all—after the artist posted screenshots showing exactly what had been said to them when they were expelled from the project. The project was cancelled less than 24 hours after this false statement, with the claim that the mod team had been subjected to too much abuse from the "online mob" to continue.
Interesting.

Most modern cartoon fandoms today: "Animation is for everyone! Cartoons are good to watch!"
Also most modern cartoon fandoms today:
a cartoon show without ships, representation, "traumatic/dark moments with therapy-needed characters" & lore is FINE, not INCOMPLETE for a certain one
god i'm so tired by this phenomenal trend of hypocritical-biased criticism

Centaurworld (tv show) | Lord of the Rings (multimedia)
Horse & Rider:
As a trained warhorse and her rider, they have each other's backs during the horrors of war and battle. They are each other's only family. When they're separated, they go to any lengths, even crossing forbidden dimensional gateways in order to see each other again. They're two classy, kick-butt ladies.
Frodo Bagigns & Samwise Gamgee:
They're just! Iconic! They have such a powerful and kind of heartbreaking friendship that drives the whole narrative.

its always surreal to me to see people praise s2 of centaurworld. s2 was so spectacularly bombastic and aimless and it ended in this awkward forgettable fizzle.
i feel like a dick saying it b/c i really do love the show lmao. or, at least half of it lmao (/stares at tnwk). gf and i've been thinking about rewatching it just to write out our thoughts on why s2 was such a poor follow-up to s1 - from the tone to the setup to all the worldbuilding the narrative had to offer in between the (far more) memorable songs of s1. idk. it's sad because cw really had the bones of a cult classic, but idek if you can call it that.
ive seen a few posts commenting on its lack of popularity, and i feel like it certainly deserves more, b/c i do feel like it's a novel idea made w/ love, but the shift btwn s1 and s2 wasnt just in the plot. there was a full-on *fracture* in the quality and direction and i'm still scratching my head over it. more than i should be, probably. but, it's just a bummer.

"It's just a bad dream....when I wake up, they'll all be back...."
do you think she still repeats that to herself, silently? Do you think she's quietly been holding onto that sentiment? That she repeated to herself when she was a child? Do you think she's always secretly wanted to believe it?

Low key disappointed that Earthspark is gonna drop its whole season at once on Paramount+
I’m gonna have to binge it all in 1 sitting so i dont get spoiled :(( kinda hate what streaming has done to series
I sometimes miss the days where we had to wait for each episode of a cartoon. It was a nice little something to look forward to each week. Gave us time to discuss each episode properly and get excited and theorize for the next one
