----
The sound of the waves lapping against the shore, carrying the salty smell of the sea in the breeze made you relax instantly as you rested against the balcony railing. You pushed your oversized sunglasses back up the bridge of your nose and smiled, soaking in the early morning sun rays.
You looked out across the horizon, watching the glowing orange sun rising from the crystal blue waters. The light sparkled over the waves, making it look like tiny sapphires blinking at you. It was serene. Like nothing you’d ever seen before.
The coconut scent of your sun lotion lingered in the air and you arched your back, stretching out. You adjusted the strap of your halter neck bikini, untwisting it so it sat comfortably against your sun kissed skin.
A wolf whistle startled you, “Well, what a view”, a deep, gravelly voice rasped behind you, as the glass door slid open.
You turned to see Jason smirking cheekily at you. He clearly wasn’t talking about the gorgeous sunrise as he eyed the white bikini bottoms you were wearing. The material clinging to your curves perfectly.
“You picked a beautiful location”, you smiled, letting your eyes trail down his bare chest, a line of dark hair trailed down from his naval, disappearing into his shorts. He was bronzing nicely in the Caribbean sun.
“Only the best for you princess”.
“Smooth”, you giggled and turned your head back out to the sunrise. The sky looked like an artist's palette, colours streaking across majestically.
Moving close behind you, Jason slid his hands up the backs of your thighs before running his finger under the edge of your bikini bottoms.
“You look absolutely stunning”, he whispered into the shell of your ear, his lips brushing against it. You shivered and pushed back against him, feeling his hard cock through his beach shorts.
He growled and snapped the material against your ass. Sliding his fingers around your front, he brushed over your clit. Teasing slowly. You whined loudly before biting down on the inside of your cheek. Suppressing any more noises. You were out on the balcony, anyone could hear you both. And see you.
“Jay…”, you murmured, resting your head back against his shoulder.
“Shh”, he nipped along the side of your neck, letting his tongue soothe over your skin, “You don’t want to attract any unwanted attention, do you princess?”.
His fingers slipped your bikini pants to one side, dipping them through your silky wet folds. Jason cursed under his breath and muttered, “Always so ready for me”.
“Jay…please don’t tease”, you purred and circled your hips, catching his thick cock with each movement.
“You want me to take you out here for anyone to see?”, he teased, nibbling your shoulder, thrusting his clothed cock against your ass, “Is that what you want princess?”.
“Yes”, you moaned, frustration seeping into your tone as Jason languidly rubbed over your clit, making the coil in your stomach twist slowly.
“Please Jason…don’t make me beg”.
You heard him shuffling behind you, shoving his shorts down enough to free his throbbing cock. He teased it through your sopping folds from behind and grunted, “Fuck, you’re so wet”.
“I always am for you”, you whispered airily, wanting to play him at his own game. If he was going to tease you, you’d do it back.
“Princess…”, he warned and gripped your hips, the metal loops on your bikini bottoms pressing against his calloused skin.
Your teeth sunk into your lower lip as Jason eased his length into you inch by inch. The delicious sting of him stretching you sent waves of desire up your spine.
“Oh!”, the soft moan left your lips without thinking and Jason clasped his hand over your mouth.
“We’ve got to be quiet”, he growled and drove into your pussy hard, enjoying the way your wet walls fluttered around his cock.
You licked the flesh of his palm and let him stifle your sobs of pleasure as Jason fucked you from behind, pressed up against the balcony railings.
“Fuck”, he pressed his face into your hair and inhaled deeply. The subtle smell of coconuts and pineapple filled his senses. He groaned against you, angling his hips so the head of his cock would hit your g spot.
You cried his name into his hand and wrapped your hands behind you, fisting your fingers into the back of his hair. You tugged as you felt your orgasm beginning to burst.
“Go on”, the deep timber of his voice rattled in your ear, “Cum for me princess”.
Your eyes rolled back into your head as his thick cock continued to drive into your wet heat. The orgasm ripped through you in a short, sharp burst making you sting buzz with desire.
His hand captured all of the sweet sounds he drew from you. The sounds he normally drank in. Your skin rippled with goosebumps, soaking in the early morning heat from both the sun and Jason.
Feeling the way you contracted around him, Jason groaned loudly into the skin of your neck and released his hot seed, deep into your pussy. His breath fanned down your flesh, scorching as it went. He hummed in delight and moved his hand from your lips. Jason let his palm travel down your chest, over the curve of your breasts before settling on your toned stomach.
“Nice way to start the morning”, his voice was more gravelly now. Your fingers threaded through his dark hair.
“Mmmhmm”, your mind still reeling from your climax, you couldn’t form your words properly. You pressed backwards into his solid chest and sighed happily.
----
The midday sun was blazing, surrounded by a clear, dazzling blue sky. You soaked up the rays, feeling the stress dissipate out of your pores. You had been right about a vacation. This was just what you both needed. Sun, sea and tranquillity. You sighed happily, sinking further into the double sunbed. Jason’s hand rested on your knee, drawing patterns into your flesh.
“Do you want another drink?”, you twisted your body to his, letting your knee press against his thigh.
“I’m good princess”, his gravelly voice rasped as he stretched his arms above his head, yawning softly.
“I’ll be back in a minute”, you leaned across, kissing his cheek.
“Mmhmm”, he hummed.
Leaving Jason lounging back against the soft, plush white sunbed, you strolled across the pool side towards the tiki hut style bar, thankful for the brief shade and fan above your head.
“What can I get you miss?”, the bartender gave you a warm smile, hands resting on the wooden worktop.
“Strawberry daiquiri please”, you swept a lock of hair behind your ear before sitting at one of the stools. The bartender turned quickly and began preparing your colourful drink.
You tipped your head back gently, looking across the pool towards Jason. He was still sprawled out across the sun bed, his thick arm bent above his head. The sun oil you’d helped him apply earlier made his body glisten in the rays, his muscles even more defined. You bit your bottom lip, tugging it between your pearly teeth, sinful images flicking through your mind.
“Well, I’ll be damned…”, you heard a cheeky voice behind you, startling you from your train of thought, “Of all the hotels you had to walk into, you had to walk into this one”.
Well fuck.
Wade fucking Wilson.
You turned your head towards the voice, your eyes meeting him. He stood leisurely against the bar, a bright grin plastered across his handsome face. You could hardly believe it. Seriously. Of all the people, in all the places. It had to be him. You glanced over his figure briefly, noting the pair of black swim shorts he was wearing. They had tiny silver crosshairs embroidered on delicately and each time the sun caught them they glinted. His shorts complimented the tanned glow of his skin nicely. His short, dark blond hair was messy, a few strands dropping down into his reflective, aviator shades, hiding his usual sparkling eyes. You remembered, momentarily, why you’d agreed to go on a date with him.
Until he bailed at the last minute.
“Someone’s seen Casablanca one too many times”, you rolled your eyes playfully, a smirk tugging the corner of your full lips.
Wade moved closer slightly, the scent of his aftershave was strong as it surrounded you, along with the mix of sun cream, “Gotta make sure I'm suave for the ladies”.
You laughed, “Very suave of you to stand up dates”.
Above the top of his shades, you saw a slight crease in his eyebrows, “Awww come on, are you still mad about that, sweetheart?”.
“Considering, I dodged a bullet? Not really”, you looked down at your freshly manicured nails, the deep red really was an excellent choice on the technicians behalf.
He sucked in a gulp of air loudly, putting his hand over his heart dramatically, pretending to fall backwards in pain, “Ouch! You wound me”.
You poked the tip of your nail against his solid chest, before imitating a shooting gun with your thumb, “I only do what you deserve, Wilson”.
Wade captured your hand, bringing it up to his lips before kissing it playfully, “You know I was sorry about the whole thing, sweetheart”.
“Oh, I'm sure you were”.
“I just wish you’d given me a second chance…I tried to call you…”.
You were grateful for the heat which already had your skin flushed, hiding the blush rising to your cheeks. You tugged your hand back before occupying it with your drink the bartender had left for you.
Even though he was wearing shades, you could feel his eyes burning into you. Drinking in every inch of your bikini clad body. You suddenly felt incredibly naked under his gaze, shuffling slightly on the stool.
“Eyes up here, hot shot”, you pointed to your face, trying to cool down the situation.
“Can you really blame me when you’re wearing that?”, he retorted, hand waving over your body as he whistled appreciatively, “Wish you’d worn that at the Iceberg…”.
You were about to reply before you noticed his entire body stiffen. The easy going manner radiating off him was replaced with something more soldier-like. Wade straightened up, taking a step back from you.
You looked over your shoulder and spotted Jason striding across the pool side, his face knitted with an irritated scowl. Sunglasses propped up on the top of his head. Even in a pair of board shorts, Jason still managed to look intimidating. The second he reached you both, he immediately wrapped his arm around your waist, pulling you away from Wade.
“Is everything ok?”, you pressed your palm to his chest softly, looking up at him as he towered next to you.
“Everything's fine”, he dismissed before turning to Wade, “Never expected to see you here, Wilson”.
Wade’s demeanour had changed drastically, he shrugged and looked around the resort, “I control the security operation here, I gotta check it’s running smoothly from time to time”.
Jason’s fingers gripped into your hip, “You better get to it then, huh? Don’t want any more undesirable characters in here, do you?”.
Wade looked directly at Jason before glancing down at you, huffing under his breath, “Enjoy your holiday sweetheart, if you need anything, give me a call…you still have my number”.
Surprising you and infuriating Jason more, he leaned down and kissed your cheek, dangerously close to the corner of your lips. He gave you a sly smirk before heading out of the bar towards the hotel lobby.
Jason was rigid next to you, so you snuggled closer into his side, fingertips tracing the vein on his forearm. As his posture softened slowly, he turned and pressed a rough kiss to your cheek, his stubble grazing your skin.
You giggled quietly, “You don’t need to be jealous”.
“I’m not jealous”, he growled.
“My hip's gonna bruise if you keep holding it like that”, you murmured.
He retracted his grip instantly, “M’sorry princess”, his thumbs rubbed circles over the marks as he pressed his nose into your hair, the tropical scents soothing him.
“It’s ok, you can turn caveman mode off”.
Jason moved his hand to your ass, cupping the swell of it before squeezing it.
You laughed under your breath, “You know you have nothing to worry about”.
“Can't I just feel you up in public? Is that a crime now?”, he pressed a kiss to your temple, hand still resting on the curve of your ass, fingers occasionally dipping under the fabric of your bottoms.
You rolled your eyes but smiled, “You know Wade isn’t watching us anymore, don’t you?”.
He huffed bringing you in front of him and wrapped his arms around your waist, pressing your warm body into his. He never got tired of the way your frame fitted against his. How you sank into him naturally, like you’d always meant to be his.
You slipped your arms around his neck and toyed with the hair at the back of his neck. His eyes closed as he soaked in the bliss taking over his circuitry.
“How about…”, you whispered, “We spend the afternoon back in our private villa and I’ll make us some cocktails?”.
He ghosted his lips over yours, the faint outline of a smile playing on his mouth, “That princess, sounds like a very good idea”.
Your hands travelled down the front of his body slowly, before entwining in his, pulling him back towards your villa, “Let’s go handsome”.
----
You dropped your beach bag by the side of the villa door as you both made your way into the house, before stepping across towards the mini bar.
“Sloe sazerac?”, you looked over your shoulder at him, quirking an eyebrow up.
“Perfect”, he rumbled, leaving his phone on the kitchen worktop, watching as you sashayed away.
The ice cubes clinked as they hit the bottom of the glass, the sound oddly satisfying. You hummed under your breath, grabbing the bottle of whiskey, pouring a generous helping into both chasers. You could feel his stare boring into you, scorching your insides. His presence looming as you dropped the curled lemon into the alcohol.
“You’re hovering, why don’t you go make yourself comfortable?”.
Within seconds, you felt his hands gliding over your thighs, up and down, inching higher with each stroke, “I think the drinks can wait princess…”.
“But I’m making your favourite”, you protested.
Jason stayed silent, waiting for you to finish the cocktail, running his palms over every inch of skin he could reach. You shivered at the feel of his rough hands, sucking in steadying breaths whilst you finished your drinks.
You left his drink on the bar whilst you sipped at yours, watching him intently, eyes burning with want.
“Aren't you going to drink yours?”.
His gaze, practically black, flickered before Jason grabbed the drink, pouring the deep orange liquid over your chest. You gasped at the icy cool sensation of the alcohol dripping over your sun kissed body.
“What are you - oh!”.
Dipping his head down to your chest, Jason dragged his tongue over your flesh, groaning at the distinct taste of whiskey mixed with you. He discarded the glass carelessly to the side, focusing his attention only on you. His thumbs catching in the metal loops of your bikini bottoms.
You gasped and grabbed his hair as he slid down your body, his lips mapping you, the bitter lemon infused with the burn of the liquor. He settled on his knees, looking up at you with lustful eyes. Jason pushed your bikini bottoms down your long legs before tracing his tongue to your core. He blew over your clit, enjoying the way your body reacted. Goosebumps spreading like wildfire over your skin.
You fisted your hands in his hair, moaning quietly. Jason smirked, lifting you up onto the mini bar, pushing your thighs further apart. His growl was primal when he saw the slick glistening between your folds.
Letting your head fall back, you closed your eyes, whining his name softly, “Jay…”.
“I know princess, I’ve got you”, he nipped your inner thigh, soothing his hot tongue over the light sting from his bite.
“Jay…please…”.
Hearing you say his name, in that breathy little voice, made the front of his shorts tighter and his ego soar.
“That's right”, he laid a soft kiss to your clit, “You’re mine”.
“A-Always”, you stuttered out, feeling the desperation bubble in the pit of your stomach. You needed him. Craved him.
Jason growled against your core before delving into you, his tongue licking long stripes through your folds. You whined, drowning in the overwhelming desire flooding your veins. Pleasure wracked your body in sharp pulses with every flick of Jason’s skilful tongue. You sobbed his name and tightened your thighs around his head, keeping him pressed into your pussy.
He smirked against your core, groaning deeply when your fingers threaded through his hair, tugging sharply when he hit all your sensitive spots.
Whining his name, you rolled your hips, eager to have him impossibly closer. You cried out when Jason slipped two fingers into your pussy. He thrust them in easily, enjoying the slick noises from your core.
“Oh fuck! Don’t stop! Please!”, you begged, eyes clamped shut tightly.
His lips wrapped around your sensitive clit, alternating between sucking and flicking his tongue over it. He free hand bracketed your hip, holding you in place.
“Oh god!”, you screamed, fisting your hands tightly in his hair as you hit your peak. Jason growled against your pussy, lapping up your slick. His fingers slowed as he pulled back from your folds, looking up at you darkly. He loved the way you looked after you’d just orgasmed.
“Jay…”, you murmured, trailing your hands down his cheek.
He gave you a smile before kissing back up your inner thighs. Hands caressing up the outside of your thighs.
“What - oh!”, you gasped loudly and tipped your head back as Jason’s lips connected with your clit briefly.
“I think you’ve got another one for me princess”, the deep timber of his voice rattled up your spine.
Still shaking from your last orgasm, your body broke out in violent tremors as Jason focused on your clit. Both of his hands wrapped around your hips, gripping hard enough to leave finger shaped bruises.
“Fuck! Fuck! Jason!!”, you sobbed.
It was too much but not enough at the same time. You wanted to push him away but pull him closer. The intensity of it firing deep in the pit of your stomach. You shattered, his name a mangled prayer from your plush lips. You felt your body buzz from the euphoria. Panting, you heaved oxygen into your lungs, chest rising and falling heavily.
Briefly, you were unaware of your surroundings until you felt Jason standing between your spread thighs, littering kisses across your bare shoulder.
Shakily, you wrapped your arms around his neck, nails dragging up it, teasing the bottom of his hairline.
“I’m not done with you yet”, he murmured into the junction of your neck, grinding his hard, clothed cock into your pussy.
Tightening your legs around his waist, you hauled yourself up against his heated body, pressing into it, hands gripping his back, “What are you waiting for then?”.
Jason could feel the cocktail still staining your skin, giving it a slightly sticky quality along with the gleam of sweat from the humidity and your orgasm.
He gave you a wink before wrapping an arm around your lower back, lifting you off the bar completely. He grabbed your chaser glass then headed you both into the master bedroom, nibbling your lips along the way before dropping you down onto the thin cotton sheets.
You watched him place the practically empty glass on the bedside table, you frowned a little unsure what he was up to. Your thoughts halted as he knelt on the bed, his bulky form towering over you. Jason encased your body with his, his large frame covering you easily. He kissed you with a fiery passion, tongue dancing along yours.
You whimpered into his mouth, letting him swallow the sounds. His hands traced up the sides of your body, stopping when they found their prize. He grinned against your swollen lips as he tugged the bikini tie free, ripping the offending material off your body. Your breasts bounced free and Jason grunted feeling your hardening nipples scratch across his bare chest.
Tearing himself from your sinful lips, he reached up past your head and you heard the familiar clink of ice cubes. You felt the coil in your stomach twist with anticipation and desire. When Jason settled back down between your spread legs, you noticed a rapidly melting ice cube pinched between his long fingers.
“Close your eyes”, his voice was thick with lust as he openly admired your naked body.
“Yes Sir”, you whispered, letting your eyelids flutter shut.
The first touch was hot. Jason’s heated mouth peppered your collarbone with searing kisses. You moaned, letting your hands explore the muscles of his back.
He pulled back and you instantly missed the feel of his kisses. You huffed in protest and he chuckled.
The next touch had you arching off the back of the bed, gasping loudly. Bitter coolness dragged down the top of your breast, following the curve of it before circling over your nipple. Your skin erupted in shivers and you could stop the purr from your throat.
Your nipple pebbled, the ice cube numbing your skin.
“Jason!”, you mewled and writhed on the bed as he replaced the ice cube with his scorching mouth.
His teeth tugged your nipple, releasing it after a moment before flicking his tongue over it. Jason repeated the action on your other nipple, growling against your skin at your intense reactions.
You shuddered, goosebumps spreading over your preening flesh. The dire contrast between the blazing heat and the bitter ice was euphoric. Your mind felt fuzzy from the overload of stimulation. You could feel the slick dripping from your core, aching to feel his cock driving into you.
“Jason…Ah! Please!!”, you pleaded as you felt the ice trail down the valley between your breasts, along your stomach and over the dip of your naval.
Jason followed the watery path with his tongue, stopping every so often to press kisses to your body.
“Please Jay…”, you begged, your voice husky with need.
“Please what?”, his voice was smug, enjoying how he’d made you a whimpering mess with a tiny ice cube.
Frustration seeped into your bones and you opened your eyes to look at Jason.
He had to admit, the fire burning behind your eyes made his stomach twist. The debauched look curling the beautiful features on your face. You tried to glare at him as much as you could, but the overload of pleasure made it difficult.
“Tell me what you want princess”.
The ice cube had melted into the last remnant of water, letting Jason’s calloused hand caress your bare skin.
You whined, “Jay…please, I need you, I need you now”.
“Need what?”, he cooed playfully, nipping the flesh below your navel.
You moaned loudly and shivered. You hated but loved the way he teased you. Drawing out the deepest of desires from within you.
“Fuck me Jason, I need you to fuck me”.
Sliding back up your body slowly, he shuffled effortlessly out of his swim shorts, his thick cock springing free. There was a soft pap as it bounced against his abs. He fisted his shaft several times before teasing the head through your sopping folds, causing you to moan unabashedly, throwing your head back against the soft pillows.
He thrust into you easily, bottoming out instantly. He grunted into your ear, his hot breath fanning down your neck, “You feel so fuckin’ good princess”.
You purred his name and wrapped your legs around his waist tightly, locking him in place before coiling your arms around his neck.
“You always take my cock so well”, Jason growled, biting your earlobe. His hot lips travelled to the sensitive spot behind your ear, kissing and sucking to leave his marking.
You didn’t reply, words lost in your mind. If you’d tried to speak, it’d have been incoherent murmuring. Something which would’ve further fuelled his already inflated ego. All you could focus on was the feel of his pulsating cock stretching your pussy.
He continued to drive into you, harder with every thrust, groaning your name against your neck. You mewled in response, legs gripping him tighter as he angled himself deeper, hitting your sweet spot over and over.
“Jay! Oh! Oh fuck!”, you sobbed, nails digging into his shoulder blades, dragging down his back.
He smirked and picked up his pace, hammering into you wildly. Jason knew he’d have your scratch marks streaking down his back but he didn’t care one little bit. He’d happily wear them with pride for the rest of the vacation.
“Are you going to cum for me princess?”, he teased, his hand snaking between your glistening bodies to rub over your throbbing clit.
You whimpered, your velvet walls fluttering around his thick shaft. You could feel the brim of your orgasm ready to shatter.
“You want me to fill that pretty little pussy?”, Jason ground out, fucking you with a brutal pace, growling when he saw your eyes behind to roll into the back of your head.
“P-Please”, you managed to force out of your lips before you felt the euphoria bursting through your body. Your vision blurred as your climax hit you with a delirious intensity, shudders took over your body.
The way your body reacted to him pushed Jason over the edge into his own powerful end and he released his hot seed, deep into your core. He cursed loudly and grunted your name before stilling, resting the weight of his body on his elbows.
----
Soaking in the afterglow, you threaded your fingers through his sweat matted locks. A content rumble vibrated from his chest before he planted delicate kisses along your collarbone. You purred happily and leaned into his touch instinctively, enjoying the way he made you feel.
After a few more moments, he dropped onto the bed, tugging you onto his chest, pressing you tightly into him.
“We should come on vacation more often”, he rasped, curling a strand of your hair around his finger carefully.
Your hand stroked over his chest, and down his stomach tracing the dark line of hair, “I told you, you’d enjoy it - you should know by now my ideas are always right”.
“I suppose”, he teased, kissing your forehead softly.
You scoffed and rolled your eyes but Jason caught the smile tugging at the corner of your lips.
“I think next time, we should go to Switzerland”.
“Not a chance”.
“Why not?!”, you looked up at him with a scandalous look. Only seconds ago he’d agreed that this was a great idea!
“Because”, he rolled you over, trapping you underneath him, “I can’t fuck you outside there”.

Jason was stressed. He had just left a meeting and there he discovered that he lost shares because of Roy. The big hands ran furiously through his black hair.
"I'm going to kill, Harper..." he muttered to himself as he stood in his office.
He got up and went towards the table where there were some expensive whiskeys and burbons. He poured some neat whiskey into a crystal tumbler and loosened his tie.
Jason sat on the large black leather sofa and his mind began to wander in thoughts. You. He started thinking about you and how you calm him, how he calms himself when have his mouth between your legs.
He felt his cock swell in his pants at the thought of the beautiful sounds you make when he runs his tongue hungrily across your wet folds. He ran his hands through his hair again and drank some more whiskey.
This is no time to get an erection.
His desk phone rings. "Mister Todd. Your fiancée, Yn is here. Can she get in?"
As soon as Jason heard your name, he let out a small growl. It seems that God heard him and sent you to him. He walked to his desk and pressed the button to answer the secretary.
"Let her in. Now." He said in the powerful, heavy voice of a man in need.
It didn't take long for Jason to hear small knocks on the door. He basically ran to your door and gave you a happy, hungry smile when he saw you.
"Hey, Jace. I-" You started to speak but Jason pulled you inside and locked the door right after.
Before you could start talking again he pulled you into a needless kiss. His tongue dancing next to yours and the taste of whiskey on the tip of his tongue made you whimper in his arms.
Breathless, he placed his forehead against yours. "What... What happened to you?"
You asked, your voice low and struggling to breathe properly. Jason's hands squeezed your hips tightly.
"I need you." His voice was hoarse with desire.
"Calm down, tiger." You gave a cute giggle that made Jason's dick throb even more. "I came to bring you a gift and you attack me like that? Where are your manners, Mr. Todd?"
Jason let out a growl and pulled away from you a little. So he can see, you really had something on your hands. A Black box with a red bow.
"Can I see this later? I really need you, doll." His voice was sweet and seductive. You gave a smile.
"Noup." You pulled out of his grip on your hip and walked over to his desk and placed the box there. "You will see my gift first."
Jason shook his head and laughed. Stubborn little girl, that was you and he loved that. He walked over to you and as he walked over to you, you could notice Jason's big cock marking his pants. Your pussy clenched into emptiness. No, the gift first. so you thought.
"What did my pretty girl bring to me? huh?" Jason smiled "Whatever it is, I'll reward you for it" he took the box in his hands
"I don't need rewards for giving you gifts Jason... I don't like receiving your expensive things-" Jason interrupted you
"That's not the kind of reward I'm talking about, doll" His voice gave you goosebumps and you got red. You understood what he meant. "Can I open it?" he raised an eyebrow and shook the box in his hands.
"Yes, sir." You bit your lip.
Jason opened the box and inside was a box of cookies you made (they're his favorite) and a picture frame with a photo of the two of you together on a trip he took you to Paris. In the photo you are hugging him tightly as he takes a selfie of the two of you, Jason's lips were curved in a happy smile and your cheeks were rosy, and of course, the Eiffel tower in the background.
Fuck. Jason sometimes felt like he was perverting you. You are such a cute girl who gives cute gifts, and he is a tough and perverted guy that wants to give you expensive gifts that he will tear after.
"Did you liked it?..." You asked apprehensively. Jason then realized he took too long to respond.
"I love it" Jason gave an irresistible smile, he took the picture frame and placed it on his desk. "My pretty girl, you want me to see you all the time? huh?" he said in a teasing tone and walked closer to you, he pulled you towards him and your chests collided.
"What?... No... I mean..." You fumbled for words. With every innocent blink of his eyelashes, Jason held back a growl. he wants you, now.
"Take off your clothes." he said in a commanding voice. Oh, he's going to be that Jason. "Nevermind. I will fuck you in this dress."
Your cheeks turned red. You were wearing a black dress that reached halfway up your thighs.
Jason picked you up by your thighs and laid you down on the large sofa.
"Jace..." You sigh when you feel his kisses on your inner thigh.
"I need you. will you be good to me? huh?" he pressed a kiss to your panty covered wetness. "Will you be a good girl for me?"
You whimpered and nodded.
"Words, princess. I want words..." He looked at you with his ice blue eyes, his pupils dilated with lust.
"Ye..." Jason ran his tongue across ypur clothed clit "hmm yes! Yes, Jace! I will-oh be a good girl for yo- uh"
Jason smiled as he saw you squirm with just a few touches. It's always been like this since the day he perverted you. The virgin girl who had never been touched. He feels honored to be your only man, and he intends to be that way, the engagement ring with the big stone on your finger said a lot about that.
Jason took off your panties and put them in his pants pocket. First he ran his nose over your intimacy. Fuck, he loves your smell.
Jason began to eat you with his mouth like a hungry man. The wet sounds made you squeeze around out of nothing. Your whimpers were music to Jason's ear.
"Does my pretty girl like these dirty sounds? huh? Do you like it when I do it like this?" He said looking at you through his eyelashes. He just stuck a finger in your pussy and you automatically pressed yourself against him. "Fuckkk. You're squeezing yourself like that with just one finger, I can't wait to be my cock. You’re going to milk me so well.”
you loved how much Jason talked dirty to you. He knows that. Jason returned his tongue to her clitoris and his finger moving back and forth inside her.
"Hmmm can you take another one, babe?" He asked with his mouth on your clit sending vibrations into you.
You were feeling your climax close. You nodded and agreed with a groan. Jason put another finger in you and bent them to hit your G-spot. You trembled.
"C-close, I'm so- uh, so close" You groaned, your eyes rolling back and your legs shaking. Jason smiled and sucked you with more pressure.
"Come on my fingers, do a mess, princess"
It was like a switch. you exploded into Jason’s fingers, clenching even tighter. Jason rubbed his big erection on the couch. he needs you.
"That's my girl... my good girl..." Jason smiles and kisses the inside of your still-trembling thigh. "You okay, awnser me, princess"
"Yes, Jace... I'm okay" You replied with your eyes closed. Jason climbed on top of you and he started placing kisses on your face and you laughed.
"Open those beautiful eyes for me, doll" he said smiling and you opened your eyes. "There she is. You know I'm not done with you, right?"
"Yes..." You smiled.
"Let's go home? Can you walk or are your legs still shaking?" He sat down and pulled you onto his lap. "I wasn't hard on you, was I?"
"No, Jay. you were perfect as always" you hid your face in his neck "can we wait a bit? My legs are still shaking and my vision is still blurry"
"Of course, my angel" Jason kissed your shoulder with a smile.
This had just begun.

hello baby I love your theme !! i saw you were doing jason todd x readers so i’m gonna shoot my shot OFC NO PRESSURE
so we all know bruce is rich so jason must be as well but WHAT IF reader also came from a rich powerful family of Gotham, I think they would maybe meet through a gala or something and Dick would joke to Jason about how he is drooling at the sight of reader IDK BABES IT’S UP TO YOU, i hope it inspires you <3
City of Stars — Jason Todd x F!Reader
Tumblr media
↷ summary — what happens if one of the bat sons meet the striking heiress of another powerful family? ˎˊ˗
↷ pairing — jason todd x f!reader ˎˊ˗
↷ genre — romance, fluff, slight comedy and eventual angst ˎˊ˗
↷ warning/s — a few curse words here and there ˎˊ˗
↷ a/n — hey!! tysm for this prompt oml its the cutest, and ik its a bit of a cliché but reader is an heiress to stark industries here 😭 i figured it would be interesting since, contrary to popular belief, tony and bruce wouldn't get along so it offers the question what would happen if their children got together (tea 👀🍵) this isn't based on anything btw! so there might be some ooc instances. OH AND I'll probably make a part 2 of this soon if i get motivationekehwjd soooo i hope you enjoy reading! ˎˊ˗
Tumblr media
— wayne manor, present day
bruce fixed yet another gala for the year, inviting multiple billionare ceos and business owners to the humble party. gotham city strived under the great care of his trusted partners even when crime and corruption still runs in the city. the bat took care of that of course, with the help of his sons and daughters who also attended the event in simple dresses and suits and ties tailored to their liking.
the gala had been going on for a few hours or so which eventually became boring enough for jason to take a few shots and drinks by the bar as he scanned the crowd with people in bejeweled clothes and shimmering jewelry that blinded him as the chandelier shined on them. "is all that really neccessary.." he mumbled to himself, taking a sip of his 3rd drink of the night. "yes it is, would you rather people come into sweats like you would?" dick suddenly chimed in as he walked up towards jason and leaned against the counter of the bar, asking for a drink of his choice.
"It wouldn't hurt to try next year" jason said with a stern look on his face, occassionally shooting up a short smile to people walking by. "if bruce allows it, i doubt he would. the man practically lives in a suit and tie" dick replied, "well, tough shit grayson. you might be forgetting being the rebel is sort of my thing" jason shot back with a smirk. "ah, my bad" grayson said with a chuckle as he sipped on champagne. "so, anyone caught your eye yet?" "If you mean spoiled little kids running around with chocolate smeared on their faces then yeah" jason sighed while dick suppressed a laugh. "c'mon man, there's at least gotta be someone" "dick, i didn't come here to look for 'someone' nor do i ever plan to"
and right when jason uttered those words with no remorse, he immediately swallowed them right back when he caught a glimpse of you in the crowd. the dark yellow dress you wore complimenting the red of his suit, its like a match made in gotham, as one would say. the man had to double take in your way when you slowly walked through the room with your father, tony stark. the man behind stark industries, one of the richest companies based in new york. jason knew they recently opened a branch within the city to make way for new advanced technology and scientific engineering. that was probably the reason why you're here from jason's assumption.
"i'd say otherwise" dick snuck up beside jason and whispered to taunt him, his eyes following the lady that caught his brother's attention. "..what?" the other finally said, snapping out of it. "you should go up to her instead of drooling over here, you look like a total loser dude" dick patted his shoulder which annoyed jason. "cut it out dick, i'm not going up to her" "why not?" "i have other things to tend to" "like?" "...shut up" "jason, this is your only shot. are you gonna waste it on brooding the whole night?" "i'm NOT taking any of your dating advice" "i didn't say you have to date her dipshit, what could a friendly conversation lead to?" "a can of worms, go figure" jason then started walking away from dick as soon as he sets the glass down on the counter.
"jay c'mon," dick caught up to him which released a frustrated groan from jason. "she seems like a nice woman" "you're really living up to your name right now, stop it" jason said through gritted teeth.
in other people's point of view, it looks like two grown men are silently arguing in the corner of the big hall which then caught your attention soon after. you wanted to get to know bruce's children after he warmly welcomed you and your family to gotham before they got down to talking business, it obviously lost your interest so you quietly excused yourself from the conversation to wander the mansion.
you stumbled upon one of his daughters and had a nice conversation, they didn't seem intimidating as they said they'd be— not until you went up to his sons. you mentally prepared yourself as you slowly walked over to the duo, straightening the slight wrinkles on your dress and patting down your necklace.
"uhm, hello there. i hope i'm not interrupting" you called out to them which caught their attention. dick and jason quickly arranged themselves to look presentable, even if they were just arguing seconds ago. "hey" jason said as he cleared his throat, to which you replied with a smile. "its a wonderful party, i see mr. wayne has good taste" you tried to sound polite as possible...was it even worth trying?
"yeah, definitely" dick nodded his head. "i'm richard by the way, richard grayson. but you can call me dick" "oh uhm, pardon?" "it's unusual, i know. but trust me its fine" you couldn't help but slightly giggle at his statement, he was quite the charm. jason, on the other hand, couldn't stand seeing the two of you almost get along. he had to do something if he wanted to win you over.
you then looked over to him in anticipation, "jason" he says. "jason todd" he added. "it's nice meeting you, i've heard..interesting things about you" you said as you reached out your hand for a shake as he returned the gesture. "mhm, that's..great i guess" he nodded. "well uhm, i just wanted to come over and say hi. if our dads are gonna work together i should probably get to know his children too as a courtesy" you said with a smile, talking to bruce's oldest sons was quite nerve wrecking to say the least. they were tall, fit, sharp and certainly attractive, they're also intelligent one might add.
"huh" jason blurted out. "i didn't know bruce and mr. stark had to work together" he said. "oh, mr. wayne didn't mention anything?" "he never does" he replied. "hmm, that's a bit odd.." "trust me, everything's odd when you're around him" you couldn't help but chuckle which took jason back a bit, seeing you find his 'joke' funny enough. it was...adorable.
"i'll take your word for it, jason" hearing you say his name was like hearing angels sing to him. he didn't even realize he was developing a crush on someone he just met at a random gala, that never happened before. it must be something about you that attracted jason a lot.
"oh and, do you know where to get some fresh air? all this business talk has been making me ill for the past hour" you asked, a bit embarrassed to say it in front of them. but they seem to get your pain. "I'll let my brother show you, he knows this place a lot more than i do" "wh— you literally live here" jason whispered loudly. "i'll see you around ms. stark, i look forward to working with you soon" and just like that, dick had left you and jason alone.
your eyes followed dick as he walked back into the crowd until he was no longer seen, your gaze returning back to jason who was just staring at you unconsciously. at some point, you found yourself admiring his features for a moment. his eyes that shined against the light, his ruffled hair that sat prettily on his forehead, and his prominent jawline. 'he's cute...i guess' you thought to yourself, not until he cleared his throat when the silence got too loud.
"sooo, shall i show you around or are you gonna keep staring at me?" he said which made you lift a brow. "staring at yo— weren't you the one staring at me first?" you argued, making jason laugh at your protest. "relax, i was kidding" he added, flicking his head towards the staircase for you to follow him. "y'know, for a sec i thought you were a royal of some sort" jason started as the both of you went up. "how so?" you asked. "i don't know, you look all elegant and..the way you speak" you chuckled at his remark. "should i be flattered or is that a bad thing?" "not at all" jason said, a short smile forming. "well, that's what my mother taught me. she didn't want me to be a 'smartmouth' like my dad. he's probably annoying mr. wayne by now because of it" "bruce has already been around smartmouths enough," he turned towards you, "exhibit a" then gestures to himself.
you couldn't help but chuckle at jason. "is that so?" you asked with an exaggerated tone. "i didn't take you for a smartmouth if i'm being honest, more quite the opposite really" "well you might've if we met under different circumstances" "maybe, maybe not" you looked up to him with a mischievous glint in your eyes, a slight smirk forming on his face.
as the two of you walk through the empty halls of the mansion, you both reach the huge balcony where the doors are wide open. the cold breeze seeping through the curtains which sent shivers down your spine. you tried to fight the chills around your skin, but it was evident to jason you were clearly freezing. he unbuttoned his blazer and wrapped it around your shoulders, giving them a quick squeeze when you thanked him. "ahh, this is nice" you exhaled, relief washing over you when the distinct conversations are finally blocked. you stared into the dimmed city lights of gotham, poorly glistening from where you stood.
"it kinda is" jason added, his hands now both in his pockets as he admired the view...and you.
the longer you stared, the longer a thought began lingering. you cracked your head to the side to look at jason standing behind you, ushering him to come forward. "so uh, how long have you been here?" you started. "since birth, i'm pretty much stuck here" jason answered as he leaned against the railings. "but either way, gotham is my home afterall. i don't think i'll ever have the chance to leave this behind, even if i wanted to" there was a bit of sentiment behind his words, but you understood him. you were also pretty much stuck in one place before your father finally agreed to take you elsewhere, to finally let you handle things your own way when you came of age.
he was always protective over you which partially hindered you from living up to your true potential, but now that he's giving you a part of his legacy you have the chance to prove yourself.
"how was it like? y'know, growing up in a city like this" you followed up. "nothing to sugarcoat i'll tell you that, but uh...that's probably a story for another day" jason says, a quick glance to your direction. "another day?" "yeah another day" he said, studying your reaction. his eyes gleamed with hope, hoping that you'd understand where he's getting at. "are– are you saying—" "yes, ms. stark. i, jason todd, am hoping to see you another day"
your cheeks flushed pink, the heartfelt conversation suddenly turning into whatever this was. it was a pleasant surprise. "i— well, i don't see why i'd say no to that offer" you said with the brightest smile on your face. jason contained a smile however, letting his head fall down between his arms while he sighed in relief. that could've gone the wrong way. he tapped against the stone railing and brought his head back up, his cheeks also dusted pink. "a'ight so, when can i see you then?" he raised a brow.
"i'm in the city for the next few weeks, come visit at the flat two blocks away from the stark industries site. i'm at the third floor, second door to your right" jason took note of that mentally, making sure he got every detail down. "right," he nodded. "uhhh, how do they say this— so it's..a date?"
"it's a date, mr. todd"

First choice : Jason Todd x fem!reader
Tumblr media
Summary: you don;t know what you have until it's (almost) gone.
A/N: this is lightly based on one particular scene from "little women". If you watched it, you'll know.
Warnings: usual Jason ones - swearing and a bit of angst. Apart from that fluff.
***
„Don’t leave with him.”
„I’m sorry?”
“Don’t. Leave. With. him.”
“And why exactly shouldn’t I?” Y/n crossed her arms over her chest, putting down the t-shirt she was folding before packing it into the suitcase. She was supposed to leave Gotham. Most probably – for good.
And she was not doing this alone.
She was about to go with Tom, the guy she met a couple months ago at work. At first, there was nothing but friendly feeling between them, but he clearly wanted more. So once he got a promotion and was posted to the branch of the company, he went as far as asking the CEO to second Y/N with him. And that got the girl slowly falling for Tom as well and convinced her to give him a chance. Since then, they have been on a couple dates and shared some innocent kisses but this acquaintance was promising. Finally Y/N found someone who would treat her right, who would give her peace, unlike the bats. Of course she loved all the Waynes , but it was a nervous lifestyle and it was slowly taking toll on her health.
And that’s how Y/N ended up picking up her clothes, getting ready to take off and leave everyone and everything behind.
Leaving Jason.
“Why Jace?” she repeated scanning his face “Tom likes me and I like him. Maybe we can work things out between us. Shit, I hope we work things out, cause he might be my only chance for getting in a good relationship.”
“That is bullshit!” Jason exclaimed “You know that! That fucker is doing nothing more than encircling you like a prey! You mean nothing to him.”
“How dare you?!” she took a few steps towards him raising hand, almost slapping him across the face but stopping in the last second. “Nah.” Her eyes flashed “that’s what you want, isn’t it? You play your games, you want to mess with my head. Well, it’s not gonna work.”
“You’re gonna die out of boredom with him.  He doesn’t know a single thing about you. For your last birthday he bought you a ticket to the rap show! You hate rap! And one time he took to the restaurant with sea food, which you are allergic to! He’s ordinary! And you know you need thrill! You need night actions! You need working with Babs, with bats, with Red. That’s who you are. ” Before she could move away he grabbed her wrist in an iron clad  grip. “
“Let go of me.” She hissed warningly
“No.”
“I said…. Let. Go. Of. Me.”
“And I said no.” their eyes met and this war of nerves and tensed gazes made them both shiver. It was like a lightning between them. The question was, who was going to give in first. “I can’t do that……” he whispered
“Why?!” she cried out “Why are you trying to destroy my only chance for happiness?!”
“Your …. Only chance? Fuck! Y/N are you serious!?”
“YES! For God’s sake, you do nothing but cause havoc! It’s been like that for our whole life!” she yanked free of his hold and moved a few steps back.
“You deserve someone better!”
“Huh. Really? Someone like you, Jason? Someone who will give my heart attacks every night? Someone who will make me worried and creating scenarios of getting hurt, injured, captured or killed? Someone who will ignore me, cut me out, won’t talk to me, keep me in the dark?”
“Princess.”
“Stop calling me that….” She sobbed and started punching his chest. “Why can’t you just let go?”
“You know why….”
“You are being mean. This is not fair!”
“How am I  being unfair here?!” he shouted “ME? How can you even say that? I’ve spend half of my life loving you and yet, I’ve always been a second choice for you! How do you think that feels?!”
“What…..? But….?” She stuttered but now he was on the roll.
“Let me remind you. You were 20 when the first guy broke your heart and …..”
“You broke my heart first!”
“What…..?” now it was his turn to stutter
“I cried at your funeral, Jason! I mourned you after you got buried! I was in deep depression for months. Don’t you think that leaves a scar?!”
“But I came back. I came back to you!”
“It doesn’t mean anything!  It’s in the past. It’s too late. And don’t say you care, cause you are just acting selfish, as always.”
‘No. No princess. This is not how this Is gonna go. If you need a memory refresher, here we go. When your first boyfriend broke your heart, who was it that hold you, hugged you and did not let go for the whole night you were crying on the couch? Who was there for you? Say it!”
“You were.”
“Yes. And then the next day you were just acting like nothing happened. You run back to him the second he called to apologize. Don’t you think that hurt me?”
“Jace….”
“And every other time when you were broken, scared, worried, shaking in fear or pain who was there for you? Who picked up the pieces? And even then you were always looking up to Dick! My freaking brother! Tell me something, Y/N” he came closer, and she had no way to run, cornered, “why am I always second best for you? Why?”
“Fuck!” she yelled and without any hesitation pushed herself into him locking his lips, letting all the anger, passion and craving for him out. At first he was taken aback, a bit, and the first thought that came to his mind was that he was going to end up alone and played by her again, but the way her body aligned with his, so damn close, so damn perfect got him crumbling. Out of instinct, he took a step forward, trapping her between the wall and his body, grasping her neck and tangling hand in her soft hair, the other gripping her hip pulling her closer. “you were never….” She gasped pulling for air “you were never second….. fuck, Jason.” Y/N fisted his jacket with a mix of anger and frustration.
“Don’t leave with him” he begged caressing her back, desperate to keep her with him, desperate enough to swallow his pride and get on his knees “I don’t want  you to leave. Please Y/N. Stay. Stay with me.” He nudged her nose with his, mouth hanging open, brushing over hers, so damn close,  wanting nothing but to kiss her again, but at the same time unable to.
‘I’m tired of playing games, Jace…..” she whispered closing her eyes.
“This is not a game, you know it….”
“Then say it. Say it to prove it to me.”
“I love you. I’ve always loved you. But I was so scared of this feeling. For so fucking long.”
“And now….?”
“Now I want you. If you’ll take me…’ he couldn’t hide that pleading tone in his voice. He was begging her to want him, to need him.  So desperate to not be tossed away like a used cloth, to not be forgotten and abandoned, not again. He begged her to love him back.
“I will.” Tears started falling down her cheeks. “I…. I will….I love you too, Jace…..” She sobbed and her whole body shook because of that. “But….” She swallowed hard and took a sharp inhale “Promise me you won’t hurt me. Promise me you won’t break my heart. Promise me you’ll love me right and won’t hide things from me….. please….I don’t want to be hurt again…..”
“Oh, baby….” He wrapped his strong arms around her, engulfing her in his warmth, hiding his own tear-stained face in her hair, kissing her head repeatedly. Only now he realized that they were both equally broken, life in Gotham and their past making them so similar. They were both scared of being alone, unloved. Having that belief that all life would offer them was scraps. “I swear. I swear to you……” he struggled to say those words because of the lump in his throat. ”you are my first choice too….” Jason added and her arms tightened around his waist. “will you stay now?”
“Yes….” She pulled back and looked into his eyes, filled with hope, relief, love and care, just like hers. “I’ll deal with tom later, but now… can you just hold me like this more? I need this. I need you.”
“You have me, baby. I’m yours. And don’t worry about a thing. I’ll take care of the man who wanted to take you away from me…..”
“I seriously hope that’s not a death threat, Red.” She laughed lightly and it was the prettiest sound Jason ever heard.
“Can’t make any promises on that…..”

AK!Jason Todd x Catwoman’s protégé! Reader - Just for tonight, Kitty - Pt 2
I really had to squeeze my brain to get this out, but I cannot wait for maybe part 3 👀? I have some ideas revolving around a fic or two for Gotham Knights! Jason. We shall see.
Link to part 1
Content: mind control, violence (obv), toxic af relationship, lovers to enemies to lovers (again)?
----------
It feels like you’re being puppeteered, every movement meticulously controlled by strings and sticks. It almost feels like last Tuesday. You had infiltrated Star Labs to steal some new tech designs, especially when Batman was distracted by Catwoman.
Security is nothing compared to your skill, even if you’re not completely yourself. It takes a bit longer than you’d prefer, but you finally make it to Stagg’s office.
Adjusting your goggles, you scan the area for anything that could spoil your fun. One by one, you check off your mental list until you clear the room. Most rich CEOs usually hide their deepest darkest secrets, not wanting an inkling of them to be discovered. Not Stagg, though, you know his type.
Walking around the room, your eyes scan over the décor. A man like Stagg likes to be reminded of his accomplishments. The publicity photos, front page Gotham Gazette articles, the whole nostalgic works. Everything seems to stroke his ego one way or another, but then you finally see what you’re looking for. At first, it seems like a piece of trash thrown onto a table. No, it’s the focal point, the center of it all.
You scan over the structure before carefully opening it. A flash drive appears, absolutely begging to be taken away from this place. Readying yourself, you snag the drive and place the top back on.  Just as you’re about to head to the door, you hear footsteps approaching. You immediately head for the window, quickly dismantling the alarm as you pry a panel open.
Closing it just in time, you push yourself up against the exterior of the building. Letting out a breath, you move further away from the window and jump. Falling with the rain, you crack your whip and swing off a flagpole. The momentum sends you buildings away from Stagg Enterprises, finally completing what Jason… what the Arkham Knight ordered you to do.
“It’s done.”
Despite the job being done and over with, you still have no control over yourself. Your body keeps moving, heading deeper and deeper into parts of the city you’ve never even seen. Landing softly in an alleyway, your body heads straight towards the end of it. Even your sensors fail to pick anything out of the ordinary. Why has he brought you here?
You hear him land behind you after a few moments. Turning around, you move to hand him the flash drive. The Knight acknowledges it with a head tilt before taking it from you. It disappears in one of his pockets. As soon as his hands are free, he presses a button on his wrist.
You tear your helmet off as soon as your body catches up with your mind. Rage builds into your chest as you lash out at him. He can’t prevent your claws from screeching along his armor until you finally find skin.
“You just come back from the dead and USE ME?!” you scream, grunting as he grabs your arm and twists it behind your back.
You try to lash out with your free arm, but he quickly dodges the attack. Before you know it, your back is against the cold brick wall of the alleyway. One hand holds yours above your head, the other trails across your cheek to wipe away rogue tears.
“They wanted me to kill you, this was the only option,” Jason reveals, using his spare hand to open the front of his mask. “I-I couldn’t do it.”
“Why are you doing this, Jay?” you beg, sick of the mind games that he’s putting you through.
“Batman.” A wave of cold washes over you at his tone, riddled with a hatred you’ve never seen before. “He left me to die, (Y/N), he deserves to die for what he’s done.”
“Jay, he searched for you. We all did, but when we saw him shoot you, we thought you were dead,” you whisper, flinching as he leans closer to your face.
“You did find me, though, in Venezuela,” he growls, leaning closer until his helm digs into your skin. “Do you know how hard it was to let you leave? I couldn’t believe my girl finally found me.”
“What are you going to do now that you have me?” you ask, staring into his cold blue eyes. “Lock me away as you take over Gotham with your buddies?”
His eyes darkened at the suggestion. “I don’t want to lose you again.”
You shake your head, more tears escaping from your eyes, “I lost you, Jay, really lost you. I just got you back and you’re just going to do it all over again.”
He remains silent, unsure how to respond. Jay slowly leans in, his lips ghosting over yours before lightly kissing you. Your resolve shatters quickly, leaning into the kiss and giving in to your desires. You can’t lose him again.
He releases your hands, abandoning them to grasp your waist and yank you closer. The softness of the kiss disappears, desperation forcing the kiss to become feral. Both of you break away to breathe, taking each other in as you recover.
“Can we pretend, just for tonight, Kitty?” Jason asks, his eyes desperately pleading you to agree. “I can’t stop what’s in motion, but I’ll explain everything.”
Fuck it.
“Just for tonight, Birdy.”

Ahh I am soo excited 🙏
I am dying for a fic with Jason and Y/N at the gala. Just him being protective and a gentleman. My inspiration is your Damien Wayne at the gala with Y/N.
Feel free to delete this ask, I am just soo excited for the opportunity 🙌
Undying Philanthropy - Jason Todd x Reader
Staring at yourself in the mirror, you couldn't help but admire the floor-length crimson ballgown you'd chosen for the upcoming gala. The velvet dress was the definition of elegant, with a subtle V-shape that drew the perfect amount of attention to your eyes. Excited to rub shoulders with some of the wealthiest, most influential faces in the city, you were hoping to find a real story to bring back to the Gotham Gazette. There was only one, very dangerous and very influential person in the way.
"Oh you sure as hell are not going, and definitely not if you're gonna look that good." Jason's voice echoed through your apartment as you rolled your eyes.
"I swear I locked my door." you grumbled, not looking up at the towering hero who was yet to take his eyes off you. He snorted "you're smart enough to know a lock has never once stopped me babe." You didn't give him the courtesy of a reply, hoping if you ignored him he'd go police some other reporter.
The minute you grabbed your purse he spoke up again, his voice deeper, far more assertive: "I said, you aren't going." You locked eyes with him and crossed your arms, "and why is that? Did I suddenly become your property all of a sudden?" you gave him a glare, but he just returned one.
"It's gonna be dangerous, you're insane if you think I'm letting you get hurt."
"Sounds like a story, I'm there." you retorted. Jason groaned, "why am I so obsessed with you," while he stalked into the bathroom you'd just come out of. In a few seconds he burst out, eyes scanning the room for you, his shoulders relaxing when he realized you were still there. He was wearing a black dress shirt with a crimson overcoat, suspiciously matching the exact colour of your dress.
"Nice jacket." you grinned, he just gave you a wink.
"Always gotta have a plan B when I'm dealing with your stubborn ass. And, you have no idea how many weapons I can store in this jacket" which only made you more nervous for the events to come.
You entered through the back door, waving a media pass to garner entry into the ballroom. Exquisitely dressed strangers were mulling through the event, exchanging pleasantries to each other and signing their names on various philanthropic programs, a promise of funding from Gotham's most successful. You were planning on finding one of these blossoming non-profits and following it's story. Hoping that if you wrote a strong article, the Wayne Foundation would most likely double whatever revenue was produced at this event, it was a quite likely occurrence seeing as you already had plans for chinese takeout and mario kart with the Wayne Enterprises CEO tomorrow night. Something about knowing powerful people...
Speaking of, your table assignment was surrounded by wealth, having Jason as a sort of body guard to protect you from wandering eyes and desires that littered the ballroom. And it was a job he took seriously. While you hopefully perused the various community programs Jason kept a hand glued to your side, shooting daggers at anyone who took more than a glance in your direction. He tried to be active though, nodding in bitter agreement when you pointed out a brilliant program to refurbish and donate old computers to underprivileged students or melted at the sight of foster puppies brought by the Gotham Shelter, his eyes never lingered too long in one place, in a state of alert on your behalf. You tried to get him to let loose, but he was firm that as long as you were safe and having a good time, he was as well.
Sitting down at your table you happily began chatting with the other guests, explaining your aspirations and dully noting each of their professions and passions. Jason joined in, pointing out your various publications, lacking complete subtlety in the way he adored you. Now, his hand was draped loosely across your thighs, thumb mindlessly swiping up and down as a way to curb his boredom. As speakers presented he grew obviously impatient, frequently leaning over to press overly wet kisses to your neck. You gave him scolding looks, but that only made his hands more explorative below the table, and as you squirmed out of his handsy embrace with a giggle, you were approached by Marcus Swan, a well known billionaire with a penchant for young girls. Jason stiffened at his presence, while you simply exchange a soft smile, which apparently was all the invite the elderly man had desired.
"You look exquisite Ms. Y/N." the man croacked.
Jason coughed, "L/N. Ms. L/N to you." you pressed your leg to his, hoping it would made him back down.
"Professional are we? Well, I was hoping I could actually catch a moment alone. You know, my businesses have been in the black this year, and I'd love to hear what foundations you've chosen to write about, I do so value your opinion, Ms. Y/N." Mr. Swan extended a hand, and Jason stiffened as you took it.
"I'll be like a minute Jay, you have my location, always." you pecked his cheek and let Mr. Swan lead you away, the last time you humored him with a drink he donated $250,000 to the Women & Children's Shelter, and you'd already warned Jason you might see him again at this event.
The bar was in a quieter room, and you noticed two guards lock the door behind you as Mr. Swan led you to the bar. Your stomach was doing uneasy flips as you ordered a glass of red wine, repeatedly telling yourself Jason was just a few meters away.
"Now that we've got a little more quiet, I must be honest Ms. Y/N" Mr. Swan said, swirling his whiskey glass before taking a long gulp.
"Swan Tech has been... less successful, than I would be pleased to admit. But, after tonight, I am hopeful I'll have come into a substantial amount of wealth." your eyes shot to the door, gauging the head start you'd need to run to Jason.
"Please don't consider going back into that room, until my business is finished. I do not lie when I say I do enjoy your company. I suppose I see you as this beacon of hope, I could't let your light be put out like the rest of the snakes in that ballroom." the billionaire said casually, throwing back the rest of his drink. "If nothing else, I've given you the story of the year! I do so hope you'll include a bit of a memoir on me and my philanthropic tendencies. To the bitter end I suppose!" he mused, reaching behind the now empty bar, the bartending having clearly ran as far from the venue as possible, to grab the rest of the whiskey bottle to pour himself another few fingers.
Your voice was shaking, "what are you doing to them?"
"Nothing they don't deserve," he yawned.
"My boyfriend is in there!" you burst out of your chair, realizing the one person on earth you couldn't lose was trapped.
"I was going to invite him, but he was awfully rude, so I let my pettiness get the better of me. We can't all be saints I suppose." the man chuckled as you began striding towards the double doors.
Before you could get too close, the doors burst open, seemingly kicked in by,
The Red Hood.
"Thank god" you crumpled to the ground in front of the familiar frame.
"Get behind me," the masked hero commanded, before striding towards Swan who took one last gulp.
"I suspected you bratty heroes would intervene, but I didn't do this for myself, I did it as revenge! And now, I'll take my much deserved exit!" Mr. Swan laughed maniacally before swallowing a pill you knew would be his demise.
"Jokes on you, I got here before anyone could be hurt. Some mastermind." The Red Hood called back, Swan's eyes widening in realization just before they glazed over.
"You are literally never coming to one of these again." the hero muttered as he stalked past you, to which you couldn't help but agree. You followed the Red Hood back into the ballroom, where the guests looked dazed and confused, but wholly alive.
As you made your way back to your original table, Jason was seated as if he hadn't moved at all, "there you are! We are getting out of here, you won't believe what some psycho tried to do!" Jason said, really hamming up his worry as he whisked you out of the gala.
Back in your apartment you'd both changed, sharing a pint of icecream as Jason explained to you the poisonous gas Swan had set up to ruin Gotham's elite, leaving him and his family as the sole benefactors to billions of dollars. Jason also let slip that Tim had tipped him off on the villain's plans last week.
"Why even let me go?" you shook your head, but Jay replied, "you really think I could've stopped you? Also, if I just agreed to go, you'd never let your guard down enough for me to slip away and find the machinery Swan had set up. Though, I can't deny I have to respect the guy, if I went crazy you'd be the one girl I'd save too." he winked at you.
"What on earth would I do without you Jason Todd."
"Exactly what you're doing with me, make the world a better place, even if it costs you your life. I'm just here to may sure you never have to pay the price of your empathy with your life." he paused, chuckling to himself before saying "I just pay it with a gun" which had you rolling your eyes at his morbid joke, but still wholly thankful for his undying protection and love. Truly the best body guard you could have asked for.

I hope you enjoyed! Thank you for the prompt <3

FILE_03 : by the tail
gotham city.
[seven days since your mother was murdered.]
"Is she here?"
The voice was familiar to your sensitive ears, and although your eyes remained fixed on Mrs. Lee, you shifted your attention mentally to the two—no, three—wait… four?—figures making their way over to where you and Mrs. Lee stood in the home office space. Their footsteps were as quiet as heeled loafers could be against hollow wood floors. The Lees' home in the suburbs was a safe distance from the heart of Gotham, so the neighborhood was much nicer and much more like a home. The Lees had been ushered here after Lee Sungjae had been found murdered, and they'd resided here since.
You had been called in the day after the incident happened—that was the day after you had gone to see your father. We must work fast, Yn. They've already gotten to one of my… men. That was what he'd told you, and when he elaborated, you had discovered that every news channel now blasted footage of Lee Sungjae's dead, glassy eyes.
You had been busy since, trying to both grieve in peace and work at the same time.
"—take more time, Yn-ah. Losing a loved—" Mrs. Lee's voice cracked slightly and she covered her mouth.
"Mrs. Lee—"
She waved your hand away, angling her body away slightly so she could regain composure. "No, no. It's alright. I'm alright. I just… I know how it feels, and I think you deserve time to yourself, as well."
Of course you told her about your mother. You had to take another day off when one of your coworkers had noticed how spaced out you were when you came in. No, you didn't tell her your mother was murdered the same way her husband had. That was between you, your father, and the motherfucker who did this.
But for now, you were supposed to be here to answer the police's questions about your employer. You had been one of three of Mr. Lee's secretaries for the past several months now, having come under his employ about a year ago after Choi Enterprises turned you away. But magically, a few days afterward, this offer from the office of one Lee Sungjae had arrived in your inbox. When one door closed, as they said, another opened. Whatever guardian angel was looking over you then certainly wasn't looking over you now though.
"Miss Ln?"
You turned around and expected to see Commissioner Kim Namjoon and your co-secretary, Shin Ryujin, but you hadn't expected the two others with them. They stood behind the two aforementioned, both in black domino masks that covered the top halves of their faces. Their suits were skintight, most likely to allow for more mobility, but they also accentuated their starkly muscular figures. The taller one wore a suit of dark blue and black, while the other donned a maroon red and black ensemble. You recognized them, respectively, as Gotham's very own Nightwing and the Red Robin. Vigilantes. What were they doing with Commissioner Kim?
Ryujin bowed her way out, gently taking Mrs. Lee with her. That left you with the others.
"Hello, Miss Ln," Commissioner Kim greeted with a tired, but not unkind, smile. He fished a small notepad out of his coat pocket, ballpoint pen clicking to life. "My name is Commissioner Kim. These two… not sure if you need any introductions."
When you remained silent with only a nod, he continued, "We're here investigating the murder of your former employer, and we were informed that you often handled his familial affairs. We've already spoken with Miss Shin and Mr. Yun, but we wanted to ask where you were last Wednesday night at ten o'clock."
You were very aware that Nightwing had decided to wander about the office, eyes taking in the shelves and the notes and the desk… then there was Red Robin, who's attention was pinned intently on you, arms crossed firmly over his chest. There was something awfully familiar about these two. "Is that an accusation, Commissioner?" You asked, leaning against the edge of the desk.
"It doesn't have to be," he said airily. "Just answer the question, Miss."
"I was at home," you answered, schooling your face into neutrality. "You can ask my employer's wife and my coworkers—I was taking time off to grieve my mother's death."
The shock was not the most stark on the commissioner's face, but on Red Robin's. "She's dead?—" He coughed; even Nightwing had paused his movements. "I mean, I'm sorry for your loss." You didn't recognize the voice, but you suspected it was probably being disguised with a voice modulator.
The commissioner sent him a bewildered look, but turned back to you. "I'm very sorry for your loss, Yn. Truly." He asked with almost a grimace, "Can anyone corroborate your whereabouts? I understand you were most likely home alone, but perhaps a neighbor, a significant other…?"
And there it was again—that shift in energy as both the vigilantes in the room stopped to focus on you.
You shook your head with a tight smile. It probably wouldn't bode well if you revealed to them who your father was or that you paid the Iceberg Lounge a visit that day. You were also a little too preoccupied with survival to have a significant other, and you hadn’t been close enough to a neighbor in years. "No. Just my cats."
There was something so familiar about this Red Robin character, but you couldn't put a finger on it. Or maybe it was the way he was staring at you with such pity (and sympathy) that made you wish he was someone else. Either way, you needed to know why these two vigilantes were put on the case, and what they might have already found out. At the moment, it didn't seem like it would pose a problem, but you thought it wouldn't hurt to be a little more careful.
When you arrived home that night, bones aching as much as your head pulsed, you collapsed on the couch. A few of your cats began to swarm your legs, soft fur tickling the skin exposed when your pant leg lifted. Blue, a very introverted Russian Blue who you managed to make an extrovert when it came to you, plopped himself onto your lap like a warm, vibrating mass. You ran your fingers through his fur to the symphony of someone's purrs (you figured it was Byeol; he was quite vocal).
"Should I invite him to the funeral?" You murmured to Blue in question.
He stared back at you, then silently turned his gaze to a particle of dust floating in the air.
You exhaled back against the couch cushions. "I'll take that as a yes."
Tumblr media
In the dead of night—because there was always a dead of night, even for Gotham City—you pulled a dark beanie over your head and the top half of your face. Two holes had been cut and sewn for your eyes to see through, and at the top of the hat, two little triangles sat akin to ears. You recalled the night you had crocheted this on a whim, your mother having done most of the work.
"Blue wants it to have cat ears, mama," you'd told her just as she brought out her tub of yarns.
Your mother's eyes glittered. "Is that right? Well, we'll have to add cat ears then, won't we?"
You thought it would be fitting to find her killer in this. You thought it fit you quite well, at least.
The rest of you was dressed in black, and your hand grazed over Soul's fluffy, white head as you propped open the second floor window. "I'll be home soon," you whispered to the last of your family, then disappeared into the night.

"I can't get why this is so familiar to me," Beomgyu voiced into the echoes of the Batcave, hands braced against the main monitor as he stared at the copy of the note: A Debt Repaid. He had been staring at it for the past week, not consecutively, but it hadn't left the forefront of his mind. Like you.
Soobin trudged over to his brother with a bowl of cereal cradled in his large palm, the other hand spooning the sweet milk and wheat flakes into his mouth. "Mm. Maybe give it a rest for a little, Beom."
"And do what?"
"How do you know Ln Yn?"
Beomgyu whirled around just as Soobin settled into the desk chair, waiting. Beomgyu made a scoffing noise, eyebrows flying up to his shaggy bangs. "Where did that come from?"
Soobin smiled and shrugged. "You tell me." He slurped up a bit more milk before adding, "You're the one who reacted like that in front of everyone when she said she was grieving her mother's death. You sounded shocked that she died."
"Well yeah, wouldn't you be shocked to hear someone else died so close to another's death?"
"Stop trying to bullshit him, Gyu."
Both the brothers looked up at the voice who had just entered the underground space. Yeonjun strolled into the main area in a white tank top and sweats, hair sticking up in different places. He stretched his arms above his head and yawned loud and wide.
Soobin cocked a brow at him. "Nice of you to finally join us, hyung. How'd the date go?"
"Great," Yeonjun quipped. "We're going on a second one soon. I think Felix almost sent me off with a kiss goodnight." He slumped onto the edge of the desk, eyes lazily taking in the images and information displayed on the many monitor screens. "This is our stiff, huh?"
Soobin sent him a look that distinctly said 'No, we're just looking at dead bodies for fun.'
"Yeah," Beomgyu replied. "The note the killer left is so familiar to me though. Have you seen it before?" He knocked his knuckles against the monitor with the note.
Yeonjun's eyes narrowed on the screen, before he leaned back with that bored look renewed on his face. "You're both idiots. It's from that one killing a couple weeks ago."
Beomgyu and Soobin traded looks. "What?"
Their eldest brother leaned down to reach the lowest drawer at the desk. From its depths, he fished out a large bag of chips and grabbed a handful to stuff his face with. "Y'know," he garbled and gestured vaguely with his crumb-dusted fingers. "Beomgyu, you know! You were there with me. It was that one lawyer guy who was found dead in his car beneath the bridge. That same note was taped to his windshield."
"Oh yeah," Beomgyu drawled, while Soobin shook his head with a sigh. The former then knocked his foot against the latter's shin. "Aye! You didn't even know it."
"Yeah, because I wasn't on that case," Soobin fired back. He finished off the rest of his bowl of cereal and set the empty ceramic in his lap before crossing his arms over his chest. His eyes, like his brothers' were lined beneath with heavy eye bags. Someone was supposed to be on patrol around the city right now, but neither of the three brothers were in any rush to get up. "So it's just one person going after these people then."
Yeonjun chewed his bottom lip. "Then we just gotta find the connection."
"Was the lawyer guy from a couple weeks ago Lee Sungjae's attorney?" Soobin asked.
Beomgyu grabbed a hold of the wireless keyboard on the desk and braced it upon his thighs. He pulled up an internet browser and typed in their inquiry. All three brothers made noises of disgruntlement; if the lawyer hadn't been Sungjae's attorney, then how were they connected? It was no secret that 99.9 percent of the population here in Gotham had some sort of… shadow looming over their shoulder. It was almost impossible to get anywhere without the help of a corrupt figure, whether that be a mob boss like the Penguin or loan shark with special strategies to get someone to pay up.
Either way, there would be lots of digging required.
"Let's start with Lee Sungjae and the lawyer's records,'' Soobin decided as he sat up in the chair. "We'll sort through phone records, acquire security footage of their movements, their texts, etcetera."
"I call none of those," Yeonjun said. When his younger brothers scowled at him, he raised both hands in feigned surrender with a giggle. "Fine, fine. You're both lookin' at me like I murdered your favorite puppy."
They remained silent.
"What, too soon?"
The basement headquarters suddenly erupted in a dull siren sound, and Beomgyu was swift to pull up a set of footage on one of the monitors. It displayed a section of the sky, a white spotlight circle cast against a massive, dark gray cumulus cloud with a distinct bat shape in the center—their call to action.
All three men were on their feet in an instant—keyboard and cereal bowl abandoned on the table, capes and utility belts clicked into place.
"Meet you losers there!" Yeonjun hollered as the cave filled with the revving roar of his motorcycle engine like a clap of thunder.
Soobin and Beomgyu hurried over to their respective cycles. "Hey, we're not done talking about Ln Yn!" Soobin called to his younger brother.
Beomgyu flashed him a thin smile. "That's what you think!" And he sped away down the runway.
Soobin chuckled to himself, grinning. Then he revved his engine and launched himself after his brothers.
Tumblr media
To be completely honest, you had no idea what you were doing. Actually, that was a lie. You kind of knew what you were doing, but that was leagues away from completely knowing what you were doing until it was muscle memory. Right now though, as you gripped onto the side of the building, fingertips digging into the concrete ledge like a lifeline (because it might as well had been one), you couldn't wait until it became muscle memory.
God, your arms were going to ache tomorrow morning.
"It's worth it, Yn," you muttered to yourself, under your breath, and that was what made you reach up one more time and grasp onto the ledge of the window sill. You had always wondered why buildings like this lacked security cameras, but based on its practically smooth facade, it was no wonder. Only a crazy person would dare scale something like this.
The law firm building was not one of the largest nor one of the dingiest. If it had been some place like Clark & Field, you would have considered other ways to get into the building, but it would probably be through the inside (because scaling a fifty story skyscraper without a net was not on your bucket list). And if the building had been on the dingier side, it would have, frankly, been much easier to find footholds and places to brace. Except for any mold or crumbly parts. That was not fun either.
Or maybe you could classify scaling buildings as just… not fun in general. But the skills and the strength would come with time.
This time, however, was fueled by pure willpower.
But the universe was on your side for once, and the window you clung to gave way and granted you entry. The stupid lock picks had actually worked.
Despite being dead for two weeks, Yang Eunhyuk’s office still looked like its owner was still alive. There were documents left out in the open, all of the furniture had yet to be touched, there was an old (upon further investigation, really old) cup of coffee on the desk, and a two-week-old calendar for the week’s appointments and cases. You peered at the calendar and skimmed its contents, but found nothing terribly noteworthy. You strolled by the bookcase, footsteps light as a cat’s, and glimpsed the titles. There were a lot of convoluted-sounding titles on the shelves, and honestly, you doubted that he even read half of the books there. They were probably just for show when clients came in.
After you had given yourself a tour of the space, you determined that no one had truly cared enough about this man to really clean up for him. The door out into the hallway was locked, and through its frosted glass door, you could make out the distinct yellow police tape crossed over the frame. This was no crime scene, but the police had still had the room locked down… odd.
You figured they didn’t care enough. But maybe this guy had more connections than you were giving him credit for. He had been one of your father’s clients, after all. (Actually, that wasn’t enough to determine whether or not Yang was smart or not. Resorting to your father’s ever-generous solutions was stupid; and you were very well-aware that that made you stupid, too.)
Your father had sent you to this office for something in particular.
“Yang Eunhyuk was an idiot and a half,” your father had told you the day you had come to him. “But he knows how to hide his things when he needs to.” He had carefully relayed all of the necessary information to you as the two of you sat on the couch together to outline your next steps and what exactly he was asking of you. “He owes me a compilation of files and a burner phone.”
When you’d asked what for, there was that gleam in his eyes as if he found the question amusing. “Well, to find out who betrayed us, of course.”
“To find who killed Mom?”
He had nodded at you—waved his hand flippantly. “Yes. That’s the same thing, Yn.”
A burner phone and a compilation of files. Your father had already searched Yang’s personal place of residence, but there had apparently been nothing but “shit." So here you were… sorting through more shit.
You drummed the pads of your fingers on the surface of the desk.
“Where would he hide you, hm?” You murmured to yourself. You tried all of the drawers under the desk—four of the seven came up locked. The top three drawers were all filled with a smorgasbord of knick knacks and junk like a fidget spinner, fidget cube, a package of cigarettes, and even a used gum wrapper. (Gross.) You slipped a lock pick out from your sleeve as you considered the remaining four locked drawers, then realized that Yang Eunhyuk might not have kept your father’s files in the same place as his regular, ol’ case files.
And so, you moved away from the desk.
You figured there were specific places a lawyer would keep their most sensitive files to ensure discretion and privacy. You recalled how your late employer, Lee Sungjae, often had his most precious files stashed away in a place that was so obvious that no one would ever assume any person in the right mind would hide such things. For Sungjae, it had been a picture frame on the wall of his office, the one with him and his entire family pictured. It was cute; but when one peered behind it…
There was only one picture frame in the entire office space. It was small and it housed his law degree. You wondered if it was phony.
You decided to give it a chance and reached for it with a gloved hand.
When you took the frame off the wall, a frown slipped onto your face at the solid wall behind it. Huh. It was worth a—
You stepped backward and inhaled sharply when your leg hit the back of his cheap office chair. You managed to right yourself, but your ears had also perked up at a curious sound. You swiftly replaced the frame on the wall and knelt down by the desk chair and twisted your body to peer beneath it.
The sound you had heard had been a soft swish. It was subtle and not at all loud, but thanks to the empty office and your own hearing, you had picked up on it. It was practically a miracle.
Your heart pounded in excitement as you stuck your hand beneath the chair and felt up the bottom. There—you felt a distinct, padded folder—and there—
Your fingers wrapped around a small device no bigger than the palm of your hand. It must have been attached to the bottom of the chair with some kind of tape, and you gave it a good yank. And behold… in your hand was the alleged burner phone, staring up at you, just begging for you to sneak a peek into its logs. But before you could, you removed the file that had been hidden beneath the chair as well. It was a standard manila folder stuffed to the brim with papers and, you assumed, lots of sensitive information. Your eyes were widening like your smile as you just struck gold.
Not too bad for your first time in a while.
You startled at the sound of a thump.
There was a figure, a shadow, standing on the window sill by the end of the desk. He was familiar to you with his dark hair and domino mask, and his red and black uniform. His cape flowed from just off the precipices of his shoulders and hung around the backs of his knees—imposing and regal but not in the way of any movements he made. The Red Robin had stood before you just earlier in the day at Lee Sungjae’s suburban home. He had been the one with the familiar presence to you, along with his… colleague? You didn’t know his and Nightwing’s association or relationship, but you weren’t about to interact long enough to find out.
“Breaking and entering is illegal, y’know,” the masked vigilante mused, and you could just make out the shadow of his smirk in the darkness. “Even at crime scenes.”
You rose from your spot on the floor, slipping the burner into the holster pocket on the garter around your thigh and tucking the file in the crook of your arm. There wasn’t really a place you could hide the chunky piece of shit. Despite your heart palpitating in your chest, you maintained a cool exterior. He didn’t know who you were, and you expected that he wouldn’t be able to recognize your voice since you had only spoken to him once.
“Nothing done in Gotham is illegal,” you replied to him.
His head cocked to the side, arms folding over his chest. “You’re not wrong about that. But…” He nodded at the file folder. “I really can’t let you leave with that.”
Oh, dear god. You needed an escape plan—and fast.
Nothing was coming to mind; it was just get out get out get out! (Very helpful, as always.)
“I’m sure you can make an exception for me,” you said with a mocking pout. “How’d you even know I was here? I didn’t realize Yang Eunhyuk had a connection to Gotham’s exclusive Bat Boys.”
A scoff from him. “He doesn’t. Your luck just happened to be running out, sweetheart.” He stepped off the window sill and entered the office, stalking toward you with slow, methodical steps because he knew you were cornered. You really should have tried that office door when you had the chance.
As you began backing away, you shook his head and tsked. “C’mon,” he coaxed. “Give me the folder.”
“And I can go?” You wondered how fast you could disappear once you flung yourself out of that window.
He smiled. “If you give me that burner, too, sure.”
Your heart stopped for a millisecond. God damn it.
He must have seen the doubt in your eyes, and that fucking smile of his widened. Something about that was tug-tug-tugging a nerve. He stopped walking toward you as you slowly made a move to set the file down on the floor. “Good girl.”
The file flopped onto the wooden floor.
"Slowly," he drawled, eyes glued to your form as he watched your hand move toward the holster pouch.
All the while, you were counting down in your head.
Before he could blink, you swung a leg out and kicked the file back behind Red Robin and toward the window. His head swerved in that direction, and you launched yourself at him before he could realize his mistake.
You kicked at him, one-two, adrenaline pumping through your veins like a virus. He blocked your blows, just as you swung around and made a grab for his mask.
He caught your wrist; you whirled—it was a high stakes tango you had not been prepared for. But you jabbed your elbow behind you, fist flying up toward his nose. Every move you made was desperate and offensive.
You slipped free and ducked, body curling under his arm, under his cape, until you ended up in the flurry of the dark fabric.
The vigilante knew his own cape though. You gave him that much.
He grabbed the opposite end and arced it over your head, arm coming down to wrap you in it—but you threw yourself out of it, landing a swift blow to his shin. Wouldn't do much except make him curse and loosen his grip slightly.
The file was in sight—oh god, it was right the fuck there.
You made a mad dash for it, leaning down slightly and reaching out with your hand—
"Not so fast, kitty—"
You hit the floor with a curse, palms flat against the wood. His foot had hooked around yours and tripped you, his knee set against your back like his own palm as he held you against the floor.
You felt his breath by your ear. "What's in the file, sweetheart?"
"None of your concern," you gritted out, then throwing your head back until you heard and felt that telltale "fuck!" from Red Robin.
You ignored the throbbing in the back of your skull to fling yourself around and throw off his balance again. Your hand dove into your holster pocket to retrieve the small cylinder of mace, then sprayed it in a final move of desperation, breath and chest heaving.
The man sputtered, hand flying up to his mouth as he stumbled backward and tried to eject the chemical from his body. "Dirty fucking move," he spat as you turned tail and made for the file.
Only—
"Looking for this?"
Two others had joined the party, to your absolute horror. Nightwing stood with the file in his hand, while Red Hood—the vigilante from the bank, and supposedly Choi Yeonjun based on your deductions—was perched up on the window sill with zero care in the world.
Well shit.

See you again.
JASON TODD x FEM!READER
Summary: years after the last time you two saw each other, before he died, you reencounter in a party when you thought you would never see him again.
———
He wanted to kill Alfred.
Never once in his life he thought he would be capable of hating him so much. Alfred was his favorite person in the mansion, his cookies were a gift of the universe. Still, he couldn’t think of anyone he despised as much right now.
But he was a really good debater. How could he say no to Alfred?
Bruce had been invited to a rich kid’s “birthday” party. In other words, an opportunity for people to talk business without calling it business.
The son of a popular CEO was taking his place as the heir of his daddy’s business, and announcing his new role in the company at his birthday party.
It was a great opportunity to make connections—or to cover secret identities.
Bruce saw it as great opportunity, and Alfred thought it would be great for the batfamily to socialize with people more in their age range.
So of course, he helped Bruce in making them all go. No one was really happy with the idea, other than maybe Dick—Stephanie and Duke were just excited for the free rich people food.
Alfred made them all dress up, but with Jason he just got so far with taking a bath. He wore his jeans with a plain shirt, adding his leather jacket and boots.
The room was crowded, and he received various looks for his clothes. He didn’t care, he refused to dress up for this shit.
Alfred was a good debater indeed, but Jason was too. So he used the opportunity of the party to discuss his best argument:
“If a very very very bad man had killed your son, wouldn’t you—”
“I’m sorry, please excuse us” Dick smiled to the group of people Jason had been harassing as he pulled him away.
“Hey! I was in the middle of something.”
“Alfred asked you one thing” Dick gave him a stern look, “To not cause trouble and have fun. Can’t you do that?”
“I’m having fun, aren’t you having fun?” Jason spat back, but before the eldest could speak up he answered his own question. “Oh of course you aren’t. Not being able to show off yet. We are lucky you haven’t started doing an acrobat routine.”
“Hey-”
“Please, do not give him ideas.”
Jason turned around to see the source of the voice, but as soon as he laid eyes on you, he froze in place.
A pretty woman stood there with a glass in hand, smiling brightly at the men in front of her.
“Jason Todd” you hummed, “at this party? Perhaps I’m misplacing faces, is that really you?”
Trick question. Of course it was him. How could you not remember those eyes? The ones that had you so captivated when you were a young girl. Those eyes who can hypnotize anyone.
Jason didn’t answer. There was a something in his face you couldn’t quite decipher. You sipped your drink and his eyes looked you up and down. He was dumbfounded.
“Who would have thought I would find you here of all places”, you smirked, “not me for sure”
“Nor me.” He recomposed himself and finally said a word.
“Ah, at last he spoke”
“You wouldn’t shut up.” Jason gave you tilted smile, “excuse me, but you are?”
Another trick question. At first he tried to place you. Your face had been familiar, but he couldn’t relate it to a name. And then, it just came to him so naturally.
You looked different. You were no longer the tiny girl he used to know. You differed so much from that weak looking girl. He was sure no one dared to cross your path now. The fierce look in your eyes, though, was still there.
“Oh, so it is like that?” You gave him a slight push, “thought I would have made more of an impression on you.”
He smiled, you sure had done.
“How long has it been? What, seven years?”
“Feels like much more.” He sighed.
That look. That goddamn look.
“You have changed, look much more stupid than before. I like the new detail in the hair. Very fashionable.”
He laughed, and you smiled at the action.
Now it was your turn to look him up and down, stopping a bit at the sight of his jacket. “I see you have taken into establishing new fashion trends, Alfred made you accompany your father?”
He glanced at your magazine dress and then to his clothes, maybe he should have used a tie after all.
“Can’t blame you honestly, I love a good chance to dress up, but lately these parties are more boring than my college lectures. There is so many, I barely have any clothes left to wear.”
“Oh what would these people do if you wore the same dress twice” Jason teased.
“Apocalypse” you laughed, blurring the world out, the both of you back in time. The only difference was a stronger spark lighting in between.
“Grayson. Good to see you.” At last, your eyes were off the Todd boy and acknowledged the older boy.
“Right back at ya” Dick said amused, looking between you and his brother expectantly.
“Not thinking on pulling one of your stunts, are you?”
“Well, I’ve been told they are unwelcome.” He imputs jokingly.
“Don’t make a scene.” Jason told him.
“See who’s talking.” Dick said back, referring at the debate from before.
You laughed lightly and looked at Jason, tilting your head a bit, “perhaps I was wrong. You are still a bit of a troublemaker, no matter how much good it brings.”
He smiled at you softly, mesmerized by your presence. You two holding firmly to the times when he had been Robin. A past full of painful memories, scattered with the sweet ones of you. Back then, your love had been unrequited. A silly crush. But Jason couldn’t deny that there had been something. He had cared for this girl more than he should have. You had cared for his friendship more than expected.
It should have been taken all by the wind; left behind in that room that ended it all, but it came back like a boomerang.
So much untold. So much words to say right now.
“I thought…” you lowered your voice, “I would never see you again.”
He didn’t take his eyes off you, the World blurring around. A focus so hard to undo.
“Hey”
A hand appeared in your hip. “Matt and my mother are looking for you. Come on”
A man in a perfectly fit suit appeared behind you. He smiled to the batbrothers, and held out his hand for you to take. “Excuse me gentlemen.”
“Oh, yes of course.” You looked away from Jason and looked at the man behind. “I’ll be on my way.”
He didn’t budge and moved to your side instead.
You sighed and looked at the men looking at you curiously, “Excuse me gentlemen. It was a pleasure encountering you.”
“Yeah sure…” Jason turned to look at the snobby looking guy as he pulled you away.
As he turned around to try and keep up the old conversation with his brother—what were they talking about again?—the rest of his siblings came crashing back to them with tons of sweets in hand.
“Hey” Stephanie said as she chewed a few snacks, “Who was that hot chick Jason was making puppy eyes to?”
“I was not-” he looked to the side trying to not let whatever happened get to him.
“Oh you sure were.” Cass teased looking up at him.
“Who was that Jason?” Duke said as everyone turned to look at you as you chatted with a lady and two men. The hand of the man who pulled you away resting softly in your hip.
Something told Jason that Alfred was not in his killing list anymore.

“You are my sunshine”
Part 2: Galas and bets
——————————————
Jason Todd x Latina! Reader
Social media Au
Summary: Whilst fighting a magical being, a vision of a girl, to be precise Jason’s soulmate, is shown to the batfamily.
Series: Finished
Warnings: none
Author’s note: in my universe of the batfam, Damian is more emphatic and “caring” towards his sibling whilst also maintaining a cold front because of the years he has spent in Gotham, he has emotionally matured and therefore is nicer in a brotherly way to all of them. So that’s why you will see more of a playful and brotherly tone to him even if I’m maintaining the essence of his character through this. He handles his and the emotions of others better. Enjoy!

Bruce and Alfred were seeing how they were practically vibrating with excitement.
“This is the first time ever I’ve seen them this excited for a gala, master Bruce” said Alfred with an amused glint to his eyes. He was also excited to meet this girl, even if it was hidden. Jason deserved good things after everything.
Bruce was baffled and amused. He lets out a small laughter. His children are going to be the death of him and he wouldn’t have it any other way. “That is correct, Alfred”
“How is master Jason?” questioned the butler seeing as he wasn’t anywhere near the rest.
At this, Bruce went to find him. He saw him in the balcony that was directly above the gardens looking up.
“You alright, Jaylad? I assumed you would be as excited as the others, even more seeing as that is your soulmate”
“you honestly believe it? this? the whole soulmate thing? YOU? Mr. Paranoid?”
Bruce chuckles, “Kid, this isn’t the first time i’ve been through a soulmate zap”
Jason looks at him intrigued
Bruce continued, “Justice League mission, they had touched Oliver and three weeks later, the same blonde girl walks up to quarters with the Black Canary mantle. Clark and Barry didn’t leave him alone for the entire day. Then, when she came to one of the galas and introduced herself as his date, I didn’t leave him alone for a whole week. He was whipped”
Jason laughs a little
Their relationship is slowly healing so it’s nice to see them have a chat without harshness been expressed
“What’s really wrong, Jason?”
“I didn’t think i was capable of being loved until i recently, or loving as a matter of fact….what if i fuck up and loose a good thing the universe has set out for me?”
“You will never know until you meet her and try”
Bruce clasps his hands on Jason’s shoulder
“Now let’s go before your siblings scare her away”
At this Jason sighs heavily, how fkn annoying can they be.
——————- gala begins- —————————————
Alfred was the only one greeting the guest, Bruce had forbidden the rest from being with him because they were worrying the rest of the guest so here they were at the ballroom, each planning their approach. The girls claimed they had it easiest, cause they could string up conversation having a girl to girl anywhere, even in the bathroom. Damian planned on using his youngest child privileges and Dick was gonna use charm. Duke intended to connect because they are both POCs in a room of stuffy rich people, and Tim was gonna use his Wayne Enterprise CEO status to connect with her through business (even if W.E. doesn’t need anything with architecture rn). And so the games began. Each separate in their own area. And Jason? In a corner with scotch in his hand wanting to numb his nerves. What they didn’t know was that Bruce knew about the bet, and planned to win as well.
Alfred saw the car arrive and the two young girls get out.
They presented their invitations and handed their coats to him.
Both girls, having recognized the butler from all the past galas, smiles at him and thanked him.
“Both of you look lovely, Misses Yang and L/n. It’s good to see you both this year again.”
“Thank you Alfred, it is good to see you too as well” responded Y/n with a bright smile.
Both girls walked towards the entrance, the same entrance everyone in the batfamily had been staring waiting anxiously for her arrival.
First they saw Nola, then Y/n, and so the games began.
(to be continued…)

PRINCE OF GOTHAM - PART 9

PRINCE OF GOTHAM - PART 9
CEO!Jason Todd x Reader
Warnings – Language. Angst.
A/N: Hope you all enjoy the next chapter! :) bit of a shorter chapter this time but we’re almost there xoxo
——
The Egyptian cotton sheets covering your body were cold. You stretched your arm out to find his side of the bed empty. You yawned and arched your back, hearing several little clicks. Jason must be in the kitchen. He usually started his morning with a large black coffee. Sitting up, you clutched the sheets to your naked body, looking around for something to put on. You grabbed his black t-shirt from the night before, slipping it on quickly before padding your way through to the kitchen.
You were right. Jason was standing at the breakfast bar, glaring at something on the tablet in front of him. It had to be something to do with The Iceberg. He never switched off. Your hand brushed along his back gently and you inched up to press a kiss to his cheek, “Mornin”.
Jason said nothing in response, just grunting. He took another sip of his coffee as you poured yourself one, rolling your eyes at his grumpy morning attitude. You thought after last night he might wake in a better mood.
He watched you intently, memories of the night before flashing through his mind. The way you looked under him on the fur throw in front of the fireplace. The intensity of your climax. How he hadn’t wanted to get up and leave you in his bed, much preferring you curled up in his arms. Your soft skin pressed against his as his fingers traced your curves. He scrunched his eyes shut, his stomach dipping at the way you looked in his clothes, hair a little unruly making you look even more delectable. It was a feeling he’d never experienced before. A pleasant but daunting vulnerability. This wasn’t supposed to happen. He shouldn’t - couldn’t feel this way. This wasn’t the plan.
The words left his mouth before he had a chance to process anything further, “You know this is just a mutually beneficial contract between us, don’t you?”.
“This again?”, you blew on the top of your coffee, the steam wafting into the air, “You’re joking right?”.
“Princess”, he pinched the bridge of his nose, “I am being quite serious”.
You sighed and placed your mug on the breakfast top, “Ah, so you woke up stupid”.
Jason glowered more, “What's that supposed to mean?”.
You rubbed your temples in exasperation, “You really are an emotionally constipated moron”, a soft sigh left your lips, “I wish you’d quit with this bullshit and accept that we have something more than just sex”.
“I told you what this was before we engaged in any activities”, he switched the tablet off in front of him, opting to stare at you hotly, “Nothing has changed”.
“And then you proceeded to buy me nice clothes and take me out on dates. Oh, I'm sorry, was that your body double?”.
“I-”, Jason coughed deeply, “I do that with all the women I entertain”.
You had to laugh at that one. It was a poor attempt to push you away. You rounded the kitchen counter and stared up at him, “I see…so what’s the point of the exclusivity then? Why are you currently only entertaining me?”, your hand rested in the centre of his chest gently, “You said it yourself. Christ Jason, even your friends said it”.
Jason refused you an answer, turning his attention to the rapidly cooling coffee next to him. He remembered that. He remembered it all. His friends had noticed a difference, wondering why he was no longer interested in the beautiful women around him. He just didn’t see them anymore. He only saw you. Your family had commented on how perfect you seemed to be, having finally found a man who you equalled your sharp wit. His family adored you.
The stony silence infuriated you more, his unwillingness to accept what was so obvious to you and everyone else.
“With all the money you spend on me Jason, it would have been cheaper to get an escort”.
“Well, she’d certainly be less hassle”, Jason groused irritated.
Why wouldn’t you back down? Did you know how he felt? Had you sensed the shift last night too? Why did you have to keep prodding him?
You scoffed, “I’m not sure if you meant that as an insult or a compliment”.
Jason ran a hand through his dark hair, fisting it. The sharp stings ringing across his scalp. His heart was hammering wildly against his chest as he turned his gaze back to you. You’d gotten under his skin. Unlocked his heart and settled perfectly like you’d always belonged there.
“Look”, he spat poisonously, the tone of his voice catching you off guard, “This, whatever this is- sorry was, it’s not what you thought. I don’t do relationships. I don’t do girlfriends. I told you this at the start Y/N. Why won’t you listen to me? You’re making this harder than it needs to be!”, he stepped back from you before snarling, “This - this doesn’t mean anything to me. You don’t mean anything to me”.
It would be a lie to say his words didn’t sting. They cut deeper than you ever imagined. You bit down on your bottom lip hard. You wouldn’t give him the satisfaction of crying. You were better than that. You’d at least do that at home. Alone. Wrapped in the comfort of your own blanket watching repeats of your favourite TV show. Pathetic maybe, but at least you’d be away from this asshole.
“I'm sorry too I suppose”, you murmured, taking off the necklace he’d gifted you from your trip to Paris. You dumped it on the counter unceremoniously, “I'll be sending the rest by mail”.
You didn’t bother to give him a second glance, storming your way back into the bedroom to gather your things. You wanted him to crash back into the bedroom, on his knees begging for forgiveness. Telling you he was an idiot and that he was just scared. That this was new territory for him. But he didn’t. Which only soured your mood more.
When you finally emerged from the room, dressed with your bag in hand, Jason was lounging on his sofa, laptop propped on his thighs like nothing had happened.
His sheer arrogance made your temper flare. You wanted to scream, shout. Maybe even slap him. But what would that achieve? Your mother had taught you to have dignity. You threw the spare key card to his apartment onto the coffee table. The sound of the metal key-ring smashing onto the glass startled him.
“Fuck you”.
You didn’t bother to wait for an answer or to see how his face twisted at your final goodbye. You slammed the front door behind you, jabbing the button for the elevator. The ride down was too slow. You needed to get out. You felt like you were suffocating in the enclosed space. When the doors sprung open you raced down towards your car. In the back of your mind, you were counting the steps. Only 10 more, you could do this. Once finally in the safety of your own car, you let the first tears slip down your cheeks. You couldn’t remember the last time you’d allowed a man to make you cry.
“That fucking asshole”.
Twisting the key in the ignition, the radio drowned out your sobs along with your shattered heart.

The Hidden Library
Summary: You find a hidden library at Bruce Wayne’s Estate and an unexpected (but hot) guest surprises you.
Pairing: Jason Todd x Reader
Note: y’all are so horny for this man and i am too so here ya go. also, alfred is a little ooc since i didn’t want to specify pronouns and give everyone a chance to read themselves in this story. <33 (this is also my first fic so pls let me know your input!)
Tumblr media
How exactly did you find yourself in this situation, you had no idea. Well, you had some idea but not enough to comprehend that it was actually happening to you.
Almost a year ago, you had accepted the job of being Bruce Wayne’s Secretary. With the added stress of a very busy CEO and his constant disappearances, it was harder than you expected to help maintain his image of Gotham’s richest celebrity. So one late night at Wayne Tower when Bruce stopped by to pick up some paperwork while in a full tactical bat suit without the cowl caused your boss to reveal his biggest secret.
Bruce Wayne was Batman.
This didn’t necessarily shock you at first, it was more like finding the last and most crucial piece of a 1,000 piece puzzle that had been stuck under your couch for the last 5 months. The sudden excuses, random injuries, and multiple coffee cups a day had finally all made sense.
With the added knowledge of his secret identity, it wasn’t hard to connect the dots between his family and the bat dressed people running around Gotham. After that day, you started to uncover the human side of not only your boss but his kids as well. Dick was the resident goofball, Tim had coffee running through his veins, Barbara and Cass would let you in on their gossip sessions, Duke would teach you about the batcave and Damian constantly walked around like his kitana was glued to his hands. But one person in particular stood out from their unruly crowd. That would be one Jason Todd.
From the moment you met him for the first time, it didn’t take much detective work to realize you would have a crush the size of Metropolis for this man. The problem wasn’t that he was incredibly handsome and charming, it was that he knew it too. Mix a dash of danger, with a splash of a handsome face and a gallon of confidence; and you’d get an incredibly attractive man with extra fries on the side. Nevertheless, you kept it cool while trying to talk to him. Emphasis on trying.
For instance, a nervous habit that you developed while growing up was to subtly avoid and participate in a conversation by making yourself seem occupied with something else in your hands. Whether that be on your phone, writing something down, or even fiddling with the ends of your nails. This happened constantly while you were around Jason. You wanted to seem cool while also not giving away the middle school type crush you had on him.
It was on a random Tuesday evening that a pipe burst in your $300 per month Gotham apartment, which caused heavy water damage to spill into your kitchen and living room. You can’t really complain since the reason rent was so cheap was because of Gotham’s unnaturally high crime rate. It might just be the 45-year-old pipes or Scarecrow messing with the water supply again. Either way, the situation would sort itself out in about a week.
Being the generous philanthropist that he was, Bruce offered you to stay in one of the bedrooms at his mansion. You initially declined at first but the mention of Alfred’s cooking had you packing your bags faster than The Flash.
All this aside, let’s focus on what happened today.
Around 1am, you decided to wander down to the batcave in your pajamas and stick your nose in what ‘mission’ they had that night. Surprisingly, Alfred was the only one sitting at the computer while occasionally pressing a finger to his ear talking to the vigilantes that occupied the massive estate upstairs.
“So what villain is on the schedule for tonight?” you said while standing next to Alfred, announcing your arrival.
“No one so far, just patrolling. I believe they are finishing up as we speak.”
You knew this, since the only times any major villain actually did something was all coincidentally scheduled on the 2nd Thursday of every month. No one really caught on to this until you decided to map out Bruce’s and Batman’s coinciding schedule. You still haven’t told them this part yet, since a day off for them could potentially become the worst night in Gotham for victims of smaller crimes.
“Sounds fun.” You retorted to no one in particular.
Alfred turned his chair to face you, studying your slightly bored and exhausted expression.
“Do you like to read?” He asked out of the blue. You turned away from the computer screen to face him.
“Yes. Why?”
“Well, if you are planning on waiting for them to return, you could do that in library. It will take them at least an hour to take off their suits and discuss the next few villain cases.”
You were a little taken aback by his suggestion. Not offended, just surprised that he somehow knew you liked to read.
“That doesn’t sound too bad. If anyone needs me, let them know I’ll be in the library please.”
Turning to walk away, Alfred couldn’t help but answer back to you.
“Yes, if Master Todd needs you to patch him up, I’ll tell him where you are.”
Pivoting back to see Alfred’s smirk on his face left you with a small blush on yours.
“Alfred! I was talking about everyone! Not just Jason.”
“Oh yes. Whatever you say.”
Knowing you weren’t gonna win this argument, you stomped up the stairs while feeling Alfred’s smugness behind you the entire time.
In a haze of slight anger and embarrassment, you had begun to walk around in Bruce’s home without taking note of your surroundings. Even though you had moved in for a short while, you still had no idea what the layout of the mansion actually was. The only places you knew how to get to were the batcave, your room, the living room, and kitchen. Other than that you were stumped. Sometimes, you would have to call someone on your phone to help guide you but that was a little impossible since you had somehow forgot your phone in your room.
The feeling of a never ending labyrinth came to a halt once you opened a door on the 2nd (or maybe you were on the 3rd?) floor, three doors down from the stairs. Swinging the door open, you were met with floor-to-ceiling, wall-to-wall bookshelves and a gray bed positioned in a cutout specifically for it.
Huh, you thought. I didn’t know Bruce would stick a day bed in a library, that’s actually a genius move.
After perusing the shelves for a few minutes, you finally settled on a blue covered book and laid down on the bed. You adjusted to a comfortable position on the bed with your head on a pillow and your legs crossed, with one foot hanging in the air.
This particular book you decided to read was one you knew that suddenly became popular on a few websites in the past couple of weeks. It was described as a wild ride from beginning to end and you were mildly intrigued about starting it. You finally began to devour the words on the pages like there was no tomorrow, fully engrossed in the plot to not care about the outside world around you. If you were paying attention, you would of heard the door open slowly.
“Whatcha reading?” A familiar voice asked, startling you from the fantasy world you wrapped yourself in.
Jason stood, leaning against the door frame of the room while you were slowly sitting up on your elbows.
“Oh, hey Jason. I found Bruce’s private library.”
“Private library?”
“Yea, he’s got some surprisingly raunchy stuff in here. I mean, I found Ice-Planet Barbarians; which is in itself hilarious that Bruce has it of all people.”
You held the book that you were referring to in your hand, and continued to read it. More like pretend so that you didn’t have to make direct eye contact with him.
“What part are you on right now?” He lowered his voice while sauntering towards you on the bed.
It made your heart stop and drop to your stomach with the way that he was looking at you. Like he was closing in on a target.
“Uh, well, um.”
You had completely forgotten the entire book. On to a new tactic.
“Wait, what time is it?”
“It’s almost 3am, last I checked” Jason responded.
He started to finally take off arm guards, setting them on the table. He walked around like he knew the layout of the room.
Wait if he knew the layout of the room-
“JASON, IS THIS YOUR ROOM?”
He smiled while slightly wincing at you, chuckling at your reaction.
“Lower your voice will ya? People are sleeping a few doors down.”
Mortification filled you as you quickly launched yourself off the his bed.
“I am so sorry! I just thought it was Bruce’s cheesy romance library. I had no idea! Especially since I still have no idea the layout of this place. I seriously think that this place could give the Labyrinth a run for it’s money-“
With every step you took backward towards the door, Jason took a matching one. Until your back was against the door and he placed his hand on your mouth, stopping your ramble.
“There’s no need to apologize. I liked seeing you on my bed.”
You were now only inches from each other’s faces. Eyes widened, as you realized he not only had a hand on your mouth, but the other was pressed against the door behind you. Effectively caging you in, the tension rose between the two of you. One you had been avoiding from believing was real because of the overwhelming fear of giving yourself your own hope.
He slowly slid his hand down, gliding it along your cheek effectively tracing the skin. He looked concerned, so deep in thought he almost closed the gap between your lips.
“Why do you ignore me?”
“Ignore you? I don’t ignore you.” You said in a breathless whisper.
“Yea, you do. You never fully engage with me when I try to talk to you.”
You contemplated about finally saying it out loud.
“If I tell you, will you promise not to laugh at me?”
“Why would I laugh at you?”
“Jay, I’m being serious.” You stated, while still actively avoiding his intense eye contact.
“Alright fine, I promise.”
You still couldn’t look at him, so you squeezed your eyes shut.
“You make me nervous.”
“I do?” He stated with slight amusement in his tone.
“Yea, you do. God, I am about to sound like the stupidest person in the world right now but I have feelings for you.”
He stayed silent so you peeked your eyes open to gauge his reaction.
He was stunned, like he was hit with some sort of gas from one Gotham’s villains. His face split into a grin as he tried to keep his laughter to himself.
“Hey! You said you wouldn’t laugh!”
Jason finally collected himself, still not letting any distance increase between the two of you.
“No, no. It’s not that. I just think it’s hilarious that the reason you slightly avoid me is the same reason I talk to you everyday.”
WHAT???
“Are you being serious?” You said, trying to comprehend what he was saying.
“As serious as I am about kissing you right now.”
Something in you snapped, and a rush of confidence came to you that you didn’t know how to control.
“Then what’s stopping you?”
You finally held Jason’s eye contact, but only for a second before they instinctively closed when Jason brought his lips to yours.
Your hands explored his chest and shoulders while his never left your face. Your mouth opened slightly to invite his tongue in. You couldn’t get enough of him, and him of you either. But all good things must come to an end as you both parted for air.
“I hope you don’t mind, but I’d really like to wine and dine you before we go any further.”
You chuckled, “I’d really like that”.
Jason had another thing on his mind as he pulled away from you slightly.
“I know it’s late, or early, but would you read to me from that book?”
“Sure, but only if you actually go to sleep.”
“I’ll agree to that, but only if we get to recreate a few of those scenes from Ice Planet together.”
“JASON!”

Word Count- 6,935
I hate getting up early. I’ll get up for early morning training or an early gymnastics meet. But an early meeting? If I had any control over it, no. Don’t get me wrong, being CEO is better than any of the other jobs at Queen Consolidated and it made me filthy rich, but it required 7am meetings. Not my thing.
“So, we’ve got the funding for the police gala squared away?” I asked over the Zoom call.
“We should,” my CFO, Michael Bridges, answered. I noticed Dick walk in, but stay off camera to the right.
“That covers catering, venue, entertainment, and staff?” I checked.
“Yes,” he replied. “Our donation and the cost of our gift will be a separate total we should have by the end of the month, but it should fit our budget.”
“Perfect. Thank you guys so much for putting extra effort into this,” I addressed everyone who was dialed in. “With all you’re doing, this should be the best SCPD gala we’ve had in a while. If no one has any further questions, we should be all wrapped up.” When no one spoke, I smiled. “Great! Thank you guys!” With that I ended the meeting. I took off my headphones, closed my computer, and turned to Dick.
“Do you ever rest?” he laughed.
“Yes, when I sleep,” I said.
“Oh, you mean the three hours of sleep you get every night?”
“Hey, usually it’s three and a half,” I defended.
“Look, I, uh, just wanted to apologize for yesterday,” he started.
“Whatever could you mean by that?” I asked sarcastically.
“Ha, ha. You’re not funny.”
“I think I am,” I mumbled as he went to keep talking.
“I shouldn’t have lashed out on you like I did. I guess I didn’t realize how stressed I was,” he apologized.
“You are right about that.” I smirked.
“Are we good then?” he asked cautiously.
“I don’t know. You tell me.”
“Would it kill you to say “I accept your apology”?”
“What if I reject your apology?”
“Well, then, we’d have some issues.” Dick shoved his hands in his pockets.
“Is that even allowed? Like, can you actually walk up to someone and say you reject their apology?” I asked.
“You’re… weird,” Dick said.
“Old news, man,” I smiled. “Tell you what, if you tell me what had you so riled up last night, I’ll let it go.”
He sighed. “I saw the guy we’ve been after. Wears a red helmet. Calls himself “Red Hood”. He got away, but he’s a good fighter. He’s gonna be a problem.”
“Red Hood? How creative,” I scoffed.
“Are we good now?”
“Yeah, I guess.”
“Good, because if we weren’t, it would make asking for a favor awkward.”
“Of course,” I scoffed, leaning back in my chair. “Men, they always want something.”
“Real funny. Barbara and I are working on a lead for our guy, Red Hood. We need you to talk to Scarecrow about knowing anything about him. Are you cool with that?”
“Yup. I do need to get out of the house,” I said. “Er, apartment.”
“Good. I’ll call you if we need you.” Dick nodded.
“Why didn’t you just call me instead of coming all the way over here?” I asked.
“I-uh, felt like I needed to apologize to you in person,” Dick answered. That was super believable.
“‘K…” I said. “I’m just gonna take your word for it.” I stood up.
“If you can meet up at the Manor at, like, 10, would that work?”
“I should be done about then.” I nodded.
“Great, see you then.” I watched him walk out, but I couldn’t shake the feeling that he wasn’t telling me something.
—————————
I walked down the dimly lit halls of Arkham for a third time in three days. Unlike last time, Crane stood at the bars, ready to talk to me.
“Ms. Queen, as much as I enjoy having you visit me, must you do it so early? Are you an insomniac or something like that?” he asked as I got to the bars.
“Yes, I am an insomniac, but also, when you run a multimillion dollar company that insists on early meetings, you get up early,” I sighed.
“I see. So, to what, then, do I owe the pleasure?”
“New information showed up from the case you helped us with yesterday. We have a name now. Red Hood,” I told him.
“Like the Joker?” he asked, putting his hands behind his back.
“No, this guy’s new. The Titans fought him last night at the Hobbs Powder Plant building. Nightwing and him had a showdown, but he got away. I have a feeling there might have been more, but I wasn’t told.”
“Interesting. You think they were leaving something out?” he asked.
“Is that what you focused on in that sentence?” I raised an eyebrow.
“I simply find it curious.” He shrugged.
“Is there anything that you can come up with that would connect in a different way now that we have our guy?” I asked. I handed him the file and he began flipping through it with one hand while using the other to pull out other files.
“The red hoods that his people all wore is the only obvious one, which I assume you’ve already noticed.” I nodded. “Aside from that, I can’t see anything else.” I sighed in disappointment.
“This was a waste of time,” I mumbled.
“Precisely,” Crane smiled.
“Why do you say it like that?” I tilted my head in confusion.
“You did mention that you feel like these Titans are keeping something from you.” I cocked my eyebrow and crossed my arms. “I have a mind-bender for you. If you wanted to tell someone something you didn’t want someone else to know, when would you do it?”
“When that someone else isn’t around,” I said like it was the most obvious thing in the world. “Wait…” I trailed off. That little- Dick lied to me.
“Exactly,” Crane smirked.
“Well, thank you for the talk. You were very helpful. I’ll be sure to tell Barbara.” I smiled, trying to hide my anger.
“Glad to be of service.” He bowed. I turned and headed back down the halls to show Dick Grayson just how scary I can be when you get on my bad side.
—————————
I parked my motorcycle in the Manor’s driveway, threw off my helmet, not even bothering to put it on my bike handle, and stomped up to the door. Taking a deep breath, I swung open the door and headed in. From further in the Manor, I heard Hank’s raised voice. I laughed to myself. So he’s telling them about whatever this is, but not me? I got to the door of one of the living rooms and stood on the side of the doorframe.
“Everyone’s just trying to figure out what the heck happened,” Dawn said. I listened intently.
“Right. We figure out the how and why later,” Dick said. “Jason’s out there and we need to stop him.” I froze. What did he just say? Jason was dead. Unless… No. There was no way he could be back. As much as I tried to convince myself this, I knew he wouldn’t mean anyone else. The pieces slowly fell into place. The reason Dick was so shaken up yesterday was because he had fought Red Hood. Jason. Jason was Red Hood and he was back from the dead. I was a mess of mixed emotions.
“You know, you guys do what you want, but if it ends up him verses me, kid’s going down,” I heard Hank say angrily.
“So now we’re killing Jason?” Dawn asked. Not on my watch, they weren’t.
“He wrote his own ticket. He starts taking people out, game’s over.” I heard footsteps fade out. I assumed they were Hank’s.
“What do we tell Elana?” I heard Dawn ask. At least someone thought of me.
“Nothing,” Dick answered. My blood boiled. That was it.
“That doesn’t seem like a good idea,” I said, walking in with dangerously powerful steps that made all of them stand up straighter.
“Elana-” Dawn came toward me.
“Out, both of you,” I said cooly to her and Kory. When they didn’t move, I flashed my eyes. “Now.” They looked at Dick before hurrying out.
“Elana, let me explain-“ Dick started.
“What? That my dead boyfriend’s alive and you forgot to tell me?” I asked sarcastically.
“I didn’t want to have you with conflicting feelings,” Dick tried to tell me. “We still have a mission to complete.”
“A mission?! I can’t be successful on a mission if I don’t have the full details!” I raised my voice.
“That’s not true at all. I’ve seen you do it before. Jason means a lot to you and I can’t have you compromised!” Dick matched my tone.
“Oh, you can’t have me compromised?! My bad if the fact that I’m human and have feelings could “compromise” our mission, but you’ve been with me since the start of my hero days. Have I ever let feelings get in the way of a mission?”
“Talia al Ghul.” He crossed his arms over his chest, all proud of himself.
“The woman ruined my life, she doesn’t count!” I narrowed my eyes. “But my point stands. The mission comes first and I’ve never forgotten that,” I hissed.
“Okay, Elana, but tell me this! Tell me, honestly, that you could look Jason in the eye and do the hard thing if it came down to it!”
“You know I don’t believe in killing!”
“Clearly not, you killed people for three years like a sport!” I blinked a couple times. That was a step too far. Dick knew it, too. “I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have said that.” Without regret, I punched him square in the face. His head flew back and his body followed. He clutched his nose that was now dripping blood.
“You’re right, you shouldn’t have.” I turned around and headed back to the entrance and Dick spoke up.
“Where are you going?”
“To clear my head. Follow me and you’ll see how mean I can get.”
—————————
I was sitting in front of my mom and dad’s tombstones, trying to quiet myself. This was my go-to place for just that. I always felt a sense of calm when I was here. It was the same calm I felt when they were around. I guess it just made me feel like I had something familiar. Not even fifteen minutes into sitting there, I felt a presence behind me and I knew exactly who it was.
“When I lost them,” I started, “it felt like I had lost a piece of myself. I was convinced there was no way to get it back. But then you showed up and I finally felt like myself again. Then, I lost you.” He came and sat down beside me. “And now… you’re back?” I looked over and had to keep my breath from hitching. There was nothing different about his appearance, but his eyes looked haunted. He looked back at me with a guilty expression and then down at the ground. “Oh, god, Jay, you scared me.” I ran a hand through my hair.
“I didn’t mean to scare you,” he said quietly. “I didn’t expect Joker to beat me to death.”
“What did you expect? You went after a psychopath who’s had Batman wrapped around his finger since forever.” He kept looking down, not saying a word. I shook my head and stood up. If he didn’t want to talk, then I didn’t want to talk to him. I turned to walk away, but a hand around my wrist stopped me and spun me back around.
“Elana, please. I’m sorry,” Jason said. He intertwined both his hands with mine. “I just… I wanted to see you. I-I’m just trying to figure out what to say.”
“Maybe you can start with why you chose to name your new persona after the man that killed you?” He laughed.
“It’s called irony.”
“Why didn’t you tell me sooner?” I asked.
“I doubt you like what I’ve done. I didn’t want you to have to worry about me.” His voice got small. “And I didn’t want you to hate me.” I grabbed the sides of his jacket collar and pulled him into a kiss. He didn’t expect it, I could tell, but he melted into it, his hands resting on my hips. As our lips parted, we touched foreheads and I laughed as he smiled. “I missed that,” he said.
“I couldn’t hate you if I tried,” I told him.
“I love you,” he chuckled.
“Who doesn’t?” I said with a smirk.
“Give me a pen and paper and I could come up with fifty names at least.” I playfully shoved him off of me. “I’m kidding.”
“You better be,” I laughed.
“You know that movie night I promised you? Tonight. You and me, your apartment, an unhealthy amount of junk food. How does that sound?” Jason offered.
“That sounds amazing,” I smiled.
“How about midnight?”
“Perfect.” I gave him a quick peck on the lips.
“Two things. Here’s my new number in case you need me,” he handed me a slip of paper with the phone number on it. “And you can’t tell anyone that we’re talking, especially Dick. If someone finds out, you could get in trouble and I don’t want you to.”
“I wasn’t planning on it.”
“Great. I’ll see you tonight then.”
“You better. If you die again, there’s no refunds this time,” I joked. He laughed, kissed my forehead, and walked away. I smiled as I watched him leave, the butterflies in my stomach going wild. I couldn’t believe he was back. A part of me wondered why I didn’t punch him in the face for what he’s done, but I knew. The Jason I just saw was the Jason that I knew, the Jason that he really was. If I didn’t push him, maybe he’d come back to all of us. Maybe, I thought, smiling.
—————————
I had gone back to the Manor, successfully cooled off. The others were confused as to how it happened in under an hour, but I refused to tell them. I had even talked to Dick about our little shouting match. We agreed I earned punching him and he was just being stubborn. I loved winning.
Flash forward three hours to the present; Dawn, Dick, Conner, and I were in the cave looking for Hank who had mysteriously disappeared.
“Where the heck did he go?” Dawn asked as we watched the security footage of him out and about.
“A couple minutes later, he leaves and gets in as cab,” Conner said. “Now his phone’s off the grid.” We watched on the monitor as Hank got into a cab.
“Can you pull the plate?” Dick asked.
“I’ll try,” Conner answered, though he didn’t sound too sure if himself. He zoomed in on the license plate.
“We talked in the kitchen. Everything was fine,” Dawn said. “I told him to dial it down a notch.”
“Present and accounted for.” We all spun around to see Hank walking toward us, clearly hurt. He fell to his knees before he could reach us.
“Hank,” Dawn gasped. We hurried toward him. “What happened?” He unbuttoned his shirt, showing us a device attached to his chest, blood around it. My eyes widened slightly in surprise.
“Get it out of me,” he panted.
“Oh my gosh,” Dawn breathed. “Is that a bomb?”
“It’s a gift,” Hank said, “from our pal, Jason.” I shot backwards, inhaling sharply. Everyone’s eyes were on me, but I didn’t care. There was no way Jason would do this. He would never do this to anyone, especially Hank. Right? I had just talked to him.
“Oh, good. You found him.” Gar walked in with a sigh of relief. Kory was right behind him. “Or not?” He could tell something was wrong. Dawn and Dick helped Hank over to the med-bay while I kept to the back, biting my nails.
“You went to talk to Jason by yourself?” Dawn asked.
“It seemed like a good idea at the time,” Hank groaned, laying down. “Just get me a shot of whiskey and get the dang thing out.”
“I’m all for not touching that thing until we figure out how it works,” Kory spoke up.
“Conner, take a look inside and tell us what we’re dealing with,” Dick instructed.
“Yeah,” Conner sighed. His eyes lit up blue as he looked at Hank. “Wow,” he breathed. “This is pretty crazy.”
“Conner,” Dawn said sternly.
“Um, it has anti-retraction barbs that hold the device in place. Looks like it’s embedded in the pectoralis major right through to the aortic arch.”
“No part of that sounded good,” Hank commented.
“The engineering is incredibly nuanced. Bomb’s designed to tolerate insertion, not retraction,” Conner explained, writing something down. He held up a drawing of what I assumed was the bomb. “These barbs are in Hank’s chest.” I cringed. It looked painful. “They have sensors. If those sensors detect too much force, it’ll explode.”
“What if we remove it surgically?” Dick asked.
“Same outcome,” Conner answered. I sighed and rubbed my eyes. “Once activated, it’s designed to kill.” No. I lost two people in a row, I refused to lose the man who had played a brotherly role in my life. What was Jason thinking?
“That stupid little jerk,” Hank growled.
“This whole thing is engineered to read EKG signals,” Conner told us. “The countdown isn’t seconds, it’s-“
“The number of heartbeats he has left,” I finished.
“What do you mean countdown?” Dawn asked. Conner removed the top piece from the bomb to reveal a countdown.
“When it gets down to zero-“
“Jason can’t actually want Hank to die, right?” Gar cut Conner off. Out of nowhere, Dick’s phone began to ring.
“I have a feeling we’re about to find out,” Kory sighed. We all were thinking it, she just said it. Dick walked off in what I assume was an attempt to get out of earshot, but it didn’t work. For me, at least.
“I’m listening,” he answered the phone. He paused. “Whatever you want, killing Hank isn’t the way to get it.” He paused again. “Enough of the games. Tell me how we end this.” There was a longer wait this time. “This isn’t about the money for you. I could wire that right now and this would be all over.” Money? Why would Jason want money? “Never gonna happen,” Dick sighed. “What would she think of you doing this?” I knew exactly who “she” was. And “she” was not particularly happy that Dick was using her as a negotiation tactic. Seconds later, Dick hung up the phone. I realized my heart rate had quickened and my breathing became shallower. I tried to calm myself by using my breathing techniques, but it wasn’t working.
“He wants 50 million dollars in gold bars in return for deactivating the bomb,” Dick sighed, walking back over. My panic grew.
“Gold bars?” Hank echoed. “Did he have a white cat on his lap, too?”
“What did you tell him?” Dawn asked.
“Freaking N-O, I hope,” Hank said. “No way we negotiate with terrorists.” I closed my eyes and tried to will myself to get grounded. There was no way I was gonna have a full blown panic attack in front of people who didn’t even know I suffered from them. Besides, we had worse issues.
“So we’re just gonna call his bluff?” Dawn sighed. “Jason’s crazy!” My mind was racing.
“Where I come from, you come after family, we show no mercy,” Kory added. I felt like the conversation around me was a mile away and underwater.
“How much time do we have left?” Dick asked. I clutched my necklace and reminded myself of the breathing patterns my mom had taught me specifically for my panic attacks.
“The average resting heart rate is eighty beats per minute,” Dawn answered. I became more aware of my surroundings and took one last deep breath, thankful that was over.
“Mine’s a little closer to seventy-two,”Hank commented.
“Forty-three hundred beats per hour.” Dawn did the math.
“That’s less than four hours,” Kory sighed.
“Get him on a beta blocker drip,” I spoke up for the first time since figuring out the bomb’s countdown. Everyone looked at me, surprised I said anything. “It’ll slow down his heart rate and buy some more time.”
“Elana’s right,” Dick sighed before walking off. Dawn followed him. I exhaled sharply and put a reassuring hand on Hank’s shoulder.
“I’m sorry about this, Hank. You don’t deserve it,” I said.
“Don’t apologize. It’s not in any way your fault,” he told me. I nodded, but I guess I still looked a little unwell. “Hey, are you okay, kid?”
“Yeah, I’m fine. You’re the one that’s not. Try to get some rest, okay?” I covered.
“Got it.” Hank offered a smile that I returned halfheartedly before walking out. I headed upstairs to the kitchen where Bruce kept his medicine. I dug through the cabinets in search of Librium, the anxiety pill Dad had said I should take whenever I had an attack.
“Looking for this?” I turned around to see Dick holding my medicine.
“No, I have a headache. I’m looking for Tylenol,” I lied.
“Don’t lie, Elana. I know what an anxiety attack looks like,” he sighed.
“How could you tell?” I crossed my arms.
“Your eyes and your breathing. If I didn’t look as close as I did, I wouldn’t have noticed. You’re really good at hiding it.”
“I’ve been doing it for a while. It’s called practice,” I mumbled.
“How long?”
“Why should I tell you?”
“Because I’m trying to help. And I have something you need in my hand.”
I sighed and pursed my lips. “Once every two months for eight years,” I looked down.
“What?!” Dick exclaimed.
“It’s fine! It doesn’t happen a lot!” I defended.
“This is why I didn’t want to tell you,” he sighed, throwing me the pills. I popped one in my mouth and swallowed it.
“I’m not feeling like a lecture right now, thanks,” I said, walking past him. He grabbed my bicep and pulled me back a step.
“If you need to talk about this, I’m here,” he offered, calmer than he was a second ago.
“Yep.” I pulled out of his grip and headed upstairs. I got to my room and slammed the door shut. I grabbed my phone out of my pocket and dialed Jason’s number. It rang… and rang… and rang. He wasn’t picking up. Not because he didn’t see it, because he didn’t want to answer. I muttered a curse under my breath, running a hand through my hair.
I texted him with the words “we need to talk now”, but I doubted I’d get a response. I threw my phone down on the bed and grabbed a pillow. Bringing it to my face, I let out an frustrated scream. I chucked the pillow across the room and flopped, face down, onto my bed.
—————————
The others had moved Hank into a bedroom in the Manor to try to keep him calm and comfortable. I felt, in a way, that it was partially my fault. If I would’ve just brought Jason in or talked him down, this could’ve been avoided. To try to ease my guilty conscience, I went to talk to Hank.
“Hey,” I greeted, walking in.
“Hey yourself.” He smiled tiredly.
“How you feeling?” I asked, sitting down next to him on the bed.
“Top of my game,” he said.
“That is a lie.”
“Eh, I’ve been in worse situations.”
“Worse than having a bomb strapped to your chest?” I raised an eyebrow. “I doubt it.”
“Yeah, you’re probably right,” he sighed.
“But hey, we’ll figure something out. We always do,” I tried to convince him.
“Elana, we both know how this is gonna end.”
“Hank,” I groaned, “don’t talk like that. I lost Donna and Jason, I can’t lose you.”
“You know this isn’t your fault, right?”
“What? I didn’t say-“
“You didn’t have to. I know you, Lanes. You think everything is your fault.”
“This one might be.” I looked down. “I saw him, Jason, before he got to you and I didn’t do anything. We talked, but not about what he’s done. If I would’ve just-“
“Were you the one who put this bomb on my chest?” he cut me off. I shook my head. “Right. So this is not on you. Got it?”
“Yeah.” I gave a weak smile.
“I need you to do me a favor,” he said.
“Anything.”
“If I don’t make it-“
“Hank,” I cut him off.
“No, listen to me. I need you to do this.” He took a deep breath. “If I don’t make it, I need you to look after Dawn for me. Keep her in check. Don’t let this ruin her. The world needs Dove.”
“Yeah, I can do that,” I nodded. “But you’re gonna make it.”
“One more thing. Don’t beat yourself up too bad if this goes the wrong way. You’re a good kid with a whole life in front of you.”
“That might be a little harder, but I’ll try.” I smiled.
“Promise?”
“Pinky promise.” I held out my pinky and he laughed, but connected our pinkies.
“Do you remember when we snuck off to go after Liam Nells? Dick didn’t let us out of his sight for days,” Hank recalled.
“I believe he tried to get Bruce to ground me,” I laughed. “Dawn chewed us out for an hour straight.”
“He deserved it, though,” Hank pointed out. “You don’t get to screw up a relationship and then go after the other person for it.”
“I still don’t understand why we got in so much trouble. He was a jerk,” I sighed.
“Ah, the golden days.” Hank closed his eyes and smiled. We sat in silence as I willed myself not to break down.
“Well, I won’t keep you any longer.” I stood up and put a hand on his shoulder. “You should get some rest.”
“Come here, kid.” He opened his arms for a hug and I embraced him. I began to tear up, but squeezed my eyes shut as to not let any tears fall. I wouldn’t admit it, but the chances of him surviving were very slim. “Thanks for everything.” We let go. I looked at him one more time and smiled.
“Thank you, Hank.” I turned and headed out the door, a single tear streaming down my face. I kept walking down the hallway until I ran into Dick.
“Hey, Elana,” he greeted, but stopped upon seeing my face. “What’s wrong?”
“Nothing,” I shook my head.
“You went to talk to Hank, didn’t you?”
I sighed. “I figured I better say something to him just in case, but I’m not giving up yet.” Dick looked down at his watch. “We’re running out of time.”
“We’ll figure this out, we will,” Dick said. “I talked to Crane. He thinks Jason is doing this because of the fact that he wants a father figure. It wasn’t really that helpful, but I have Conner working on deactivating the bomb.”
“You put that on him? Dick, that’s a lot of pressure.” I crossed my arms.
“I’m also working on a way to fix this, so it’s not only on him.”
“Did you tell him that?”
His expression said it all. “No,” he said, trying to fake that he was sure of himself. I smirked and shook my head.
“I’m gonna go check on him,” I said. “No stupid decisions until I’m back.”
“Your the one that makes those kinds of decisions,” he said.
“I can name a whole lot of stupid decisions you’ve made. When I find time, I’ll write them down.” I smiled, walking backwards toward the clock room.
“Mhmm, come back when you’ve finished that,” he called after me.
After getting into the Cave, I found Conner working on the deactivator. “Hey, Conner,” I greeted.
“Hey, Elana,” he sighed, but smiled.
“Not going so well?” I asked, looking over his shoulder.
“Not really, no.”
“Don’t stress too much over it, you’re pretty brave for doing this. There’s not a lot of people that would. And this is a backup plan if all else fails. The rest of us are trying to figure something out.”
“I’ve been at it forever and I can’t figure this out.” Conner looked at me with sad eyes.
“Hey,” I put a hand on his shoulder, “you are incredibly smart, more so than, don’t tell anyone I said this, everyone else in this building. If anyone’s gonna figure this out, it’s gonna be you.”
“Thanks.” He smiled. “I, uh, was wondering if you’d look over the specs to see if you find anything that can help.”
“Sure.” I nodded. I sat down at the monitor and pulled up the schematics. I flipped through them as Conner continued to work. “Woah, these are pretty advanced,” I mumbled.
“Yeah, I’ve been trying tons of different combinations, but the success rate’s been all over the place,” Conner commented.
“It looks like there could be five possibilities for the central piece.” I set those three parts off to the side. “If you try out the same combinations around the five pieces, you might figure it out.”
“How did I not see that before? Thanks, Elana. That helps a ton.” He smiled, looking less defeated. “Oh, by the way, Dawn was looking for you.”
“Got it. I’ll go find her. Good luck Conner, I believe in you.”
“Thank you again, Lana.” I headed back up the stairs to try to find Dawn. Walking the hallways, I finally found her walking out of the room Hank was in. I noticed her teary eyes. Without saying anything, I pulled her into a hug. After a few bittersweet seconds, she pulled away.
“We can’t let him die,” she said quietly, drying her eyes.
“We won’t,” I said confidently.
“There’s only one thing we can do to stop it. We need that gold. Dick won’t do it and I don’t want to do it alone, but I will. Are you in?”
I nodded. “Yeah, without a doubt.”

Dawn and I crouched in the rafters of the Central Bank of Gotham’s parking garage. We watched as the van pulled in and the guards got out. There were five of them, armed with submachine guns. I looked at Dawn and she nodded. We dropped from the rafters, taking the guards by surprise.
I took the three to the left, Dawn had the two to the right. I grabbed the barrel of the first guy’s gun and threw it downward, then driving it up to hit the man in the chin for a knockout blow. The other two began shooting at me, so I had to duck for cover behind the van. Once their rounds had finished, I jumped out and threw a throwing star shallowly into each man’s leg. They groaned in pain. I took the opportunity to kick the back of one’s knees and swing him by the arm into the other guy. Their heads collided and they were both out cold.
I looked over at Dawn, who had finished off both of her guys, too. She nodded to me and I nodded back. We both walked over to the truck, seeing the keys to it laying there. Dawn pulled out her flip phone she used to contact Jason and dialed.
“Now what?” she asked into the phone. I tried to divert my attention elsewhere to try to forget who was on the other side of that call, but it didn’t work. “Just tell me where to meet,” Dawn sighed. After a few more seconds, she put the phone away. “He wants to meet alone.”
“No way! I’m not letting you go after him alone!” I exclaimed.
“If I don’t go alone, he could kill Hank,” she said.
“I guarantee you I’m smarter than him. I’ll just hide. He won’t know that I’m there,” I told her. “I just don’t want to see you get hurt.” She considered this for a second before sighing.
“Fine.”
“You won’t regret it, Dawn, I promise.”
—————————
Dawn went inside the alley space to meet Jason while I hung back on the outside of the building, out of view from anyone else, but able to see inside. It only took a minute of us being there for Jason to walk in. He was fully dressed in his Red Hood suit. I hadn’t seen it before. It looked pretty good to be honest.
“Where’s the deactivator?” Dawn demanded.
“In front of you.” I winced at his robotic voice. Dawn looked around and I did, too. She found something but I wasn’t quite sure what it was. “You’re wasting precious time.” I watched Dawn walk over to a box and tentatively pull out a small handgun.
“What the heck is this?” Dawn asked.
“I’ve got the deactivator as promised.” Jason held up that very item. “It engages as soon as I release my finger from the trigger.” I ran a hand through my hair in anxiousness. “You want to save Hank?” He took off his helmet. “All you have to do is kill me.” What the heck is he doing?
“What happened to you?” Dawn asked, exasperated.
“Same thing that happens to everybody- I grew up. You can, too. You just have to face your fear,” Jason said. “Batman did it. It’s easier than you think. Just pull the trigger and you’ll be free.” I moved to get ready to go in.
“You’re a jerk, Jason,” Dawn sighed.
“Yeah, well, we all get there eventually,” Jason said. “Oh, Hank’s gonna blow soon.” Not cool. “So who’s it gonna be, babe? Me or him?” Dawn pointed the gun up. I didn’t even think twice. I ran right in there.
Jason sighed and looked down upon seeing me. “You’re not supposed to be here.”
“What are you doing?” I demanded.
“What has to be done,” he responded. I looked into his eyes, but there was something missing. They were duller than earlier.
“Dawn,” I said warningly.
“You did this, not me,” Dawn said, ignoring me.
“Don’t,” I tried again. A bird-a-rang came out of nowhere and knocked the gun from Dawn’s hands and stuck in a post.
“Dawn,” Dick’s voice came from behind, “Don’t.”
“Who invited that guy?” Jason groaned.
“What did you do?” Dick asked. Dawn and Dick looked at each other for a couple more seconds before jumping for the gun. I watched, unsure of what to do, as they grappled for the weapon. I looked at Jason who had an amused smirk on his face and scoffed in disgust, shaking my head. The next thing I knew, Dawn was holding the gun at Jason.
“Dawn, don’t,” Dick warned. “This is what he wants.”
“Let him have it,” Dawn growled.
“You don’t want to do this,” I tried.
“Don’t tell me what I want! You’re just trying to protect him!” she accused. I was taken aback.
“I’m trying to protect you from making a mistake you can’t come back from,” I told her.
“She’s right. You can’t come back from this. We can save Hank another way,” Dick said.
“He’s lying, Dawn,” Jason said. I glared at him and he made eye contact with me. Those eyes weren’t the same eyes as earlier.
“Gar, talk to me,” Dick said into his comms. He paused. “Dawn, we’re almost there.” Dawn checked her wrist for Hank’s heartbeats left. I could guess it wasn’t too high.
“I can’t wait anymore,” Dawn breathed.
“This won’t fix anything,” I said.
“If you do this, he wins,” Dick added. “He won’t save Hank, he’s lying.”
“Hey, batboy, she’s a grown woman. Let her make her own decision,” Jason sneered. Dawn checked her watch again.
“Dawn,” I said softly. She didn’t listen. “Dawn, if you kill him, you’ll never be the same and you’ll have to live with that guilt forever. That’s not fun, believe me. Look, it doesn’t matter if it’s him you kill or some random person off the street, you’ll never be the same.” She began to breathe heavily. After a few seconds, Dick seemed to be hearing something through the comms.
“Dawn!” he shouted. But it was too late.
She pulled the trigger and I heard the click, expecting the worst. But a bullet never came out. She examined the gun as the deactivator in Jason’s started beeping. Then it dawned on me what he’d done.
“Oops, my bad. Looks like I gave you the detonator,” Jason laughed. I took a step back in shock, my mouth dropping open.
“No,” Dick breathed. We all looked down at the gun in astonishment, and the second we looked back at Jason, he was gone. Dick took the gun from Dawn.
“What happened?” she asked breathlessly. We looked at her sympathetically. “No. No, no, no,” she cried. My heart broke for her and for Hank. He was my family and she and him were always together. Sure they’d gone through a rough patch, but they’d always love each other. Everyone knew that. But now he was gone. I had to stop the tear in my eye from escaping as I put my hand comfortingly on Dawn’s shoulder after Dick had pulled her into a hug. What just happened?
—————————
I sat on the floor of my apartment bedroom against the bed, head down, hands gripping my hair. My eyes were red and my face was tear-stained. How could’ve I let this happen? kept echoing in my head. There was now a hole in the wall that I’d have to fix from my fist. The only reason there weren’t more is because I had switched to punching a pillow. My grief was like a roller coaster. First I was in denial, then I was furious, and now? I couldn’t put words to my sadness. Maybe if I had just turned Jason in, this wouldn’t have happened.
The soft creek of my bedroom window pulled me out of my thoughts. I didn’t even have to look to know who it was.
“Give me one reason why I shouldn’t kill you right here, right now,” I said through gritted teeth.
“Elana-“ Jason started.
“No.” I stood abruptly. “Don’t “Elana” me. You killed Hank today. What makes you think that you can walk in here and have everything magically be okay.”
“Elana, please,” he begged, “let me explain.” He took a step closer and reached out.
“Don’t touch me,” I growled, taking a step back and putting my hand up to distance him from me.
“I’m sorry, Elana. I-I don’t know what came over me. I shouldn’t have done that, I know,” he swallowed. His demeanor was completely different and his eyes had their brightness back. He wasn’t the sadistic, cocky villain that was in the alley four hours ago. “I just came to say that I’m sorry.”
Without a second thought, my hand flew to his face with a loud slapping sound. His head flew back, but he never retaliated. “You should be!” I snapped. “You murdered the man I consider family by strapping a freaking bomb to his chest! Are you insane?! That is Joker-level stuff!” I couldn’t help the tears that fell down my face. “He died painfully and alone and now I wonder if I had just taken you in before this whole thing started if he would still be alive,” my voice died down. “Oh, god.” By back hit the wall as I used it for support. I sank back down to the floor. “Why did you do it?” I asked quietly, raising my puffy eyes to look at his.
“I-I don’t know,” he said honestly, looking at the floor. I closed my eyes and leaned my head back. I felt a hand touch my own. I knew I should brush it off, but something about Jason’s touch made me feel safer. I couldn’t help the silent tears the rolled down my face. I hated crying. I was told when I was with the League that only the weak cry. I especially hated crying in front of other people.
Jason hesitantly wrapped his arms around me in a hug. I didn’t return it, but I didn’t stop it. I knew I should’ve pushed him away, told him to leave, but I just couldn’t. Like before, I felt safer when he was right there. He put a hand on the back of my head in a comforting way and I let my head dropped down on his shoulder. He gently stroked my hair as I tried to calm my breathing. Pulling away from him, I wiped my eyes.
“One more chance. Please, Elana, give me one more chance,” Jason said. I closed my eyes and dropped my head. “I swear, I will make it up to you. If I don’t, I’ll let you take me in. I promise.”
“Jay…”
“No, just hear me out. I want to change. I want to be better. If I mess up, you can throw me in Arkham. Just please, let me try,” he begged, grabbing my hands. “Please.” His eyes shone bright and desperate. I met his gaze and sighed.
“Fine, but if you mess this up, we’re done and I’ll personally escort you to prison,” I warned.
“Thank you. You won’t regret it,” Jason said excitedly.
“But for tonight, I need to be alone,” I said. He nodded.
“Yeah, I- I assumed. I’ll see you later then?” This time, I was the one that nodded. He gave a weak smile, disappearing out the window.
I curled back into myself and reburied my head in my hands. I should’ve said no. I should’ve taken him in right then. I just couldn’t bring myself to. What did I just do?
