Are you looking for a few new cookie recipes? Who doesn’t love to indulge in a bite or two of chewy nutty goodness. Brown Butter Cinnamon Toffee Cookies are sure to sooth your sweet craving.
Boxed cake mix makes easy work of making cookies in minutes. Whether it’s your day off or the kids have been begging you to bake cookies, bake at batch of these little nubbins.
The cookies are filled with…
Today was a fantastic day. My sister came to town. We have so much fun together, we laugh ourselves silly, and we just get each other. Gosh, that’s good for my soul. We tried to take selfie.
Our hair is telling you that it was a rainy day. The McGlaughn girl hair is more reliable than doppler radar. My Twinkie colored hair (half yellow, half white) is the bane of my existence, but I’m determined to see it through. I’m a granny, don’t judge me. Look at my lovely sister. She’s always had flawless skin, ringlets, and an adventurous soul. She’s what you’d call a once-in-a-lifetime woman. Unsinkable.
Anywayyyy, today has apparently been all about FOOD. I feel like I never want to eat again. We had lunch at Earth Tones Cafe and gobbled up their Chesapeake Artichoke Bagel. It’s an open-faced toasted bagel topped with a mixture of artichoke hearts, spinach, cream cheese, mozzarella, parm, red pepper flakes, and Old Bay seasoning. Holy Cow. Earth Tones is a vegan cafe but this did not feel like a healthy choice....delicious, yes, but probably not on the American Heart Associations recommended list. We made a couple of stops around town and our final stop was Craft Bakery because Mickey had asked me to bring him one of their maple-vanilla lattes. Well, who goes into a bakery and just buys coffee? Not this girl. Two toffee bars, two blackout cookies, and one brown sugar and cinnamon pop-tart later, we left. I tell myself that I only buy baked goods as decor. I love having a few things under this cake dome, just because it’s pretty.
That doesn’t explain why there’s a blackout cookie missing. I won’t touch the toffee bars or the pop-tart but those deep chocolate cookies with a sprinkle of sea salt....they call to me. I wish she’d stop making them. My thighs can’t take it.
That said, my thighs walked me right up the steps to the Culinary Arts Center to collect the bowl I painted a couple of weeks ago. I’d participated in a fundraiser by paying to paint a bowl, and part of the price included a container of soup from Shore Gourmet when I picked up my bowl. The bowls had been fired and I ran by to get mine. My bowl turned out okay (I didn’t have enough time!) but I’m very pleased with the soup I chose. Perfect for these chilly, wet days.
YUM!
After the tasty lunch and that chocolate cookie, I figured I’d better make a veggie heavy dinner. Taco bowls with cauliflower rice! My stovetop was busy. Black beans simmered with onion, salt, cumin, a couple splashes of hot sauce, and a little water, cauliflower rice in a skillet sautéing with a sprinkle of salt and a blast of chili powder (fresh cilantro would is perfect in this, but I didn’t have any handy), and another skillet with lean ground turkey seasoned with all the taco spices.
Add some veggies and it’s a tasty bowl!
This is one of my favorite quick dinners - full of flavor and checks most boxes for a healthy dinner meal. Bonus, there’s usually enough left for lunch.
Thankfully, tomorrow morning we’re scheduled for a guided hike (more of a walk) at the arboretum. Always informational, but mostly I need to log some steps (and eat some salads). I’m hoping that all of the laughing today counts as an ab workout. If only. If that counted as a workout I’d be thin as a rail with washboard abs. I laugh a lot but those blackout cookies don’t care.
That’s it, my wonderful Friday - time with my sister and too much food. I’m a lucky duck. I hope that your Friday has been good for your soul. If not, I hope the weekend fills the gap. If all else fails, eat a cookie.
Sending out some love tonight. Take what you need.

One thing that continually bothers me: how dependent on chocolate most ice cream parlors and novelties are in the United States.
Or at least in my area of the US, I'm not an expert on this stuff.
I was complaining about this over the weekend, about how chocolate is great and I like it but I don't need or want it in all the things, and how very much I'd love an ice cream parlor that focuses on fresh fruits and seasonal flavors.
And so I came up with an idea for my own ice cream parlor, probably with a fairy or unicorn theme? Maybe enchanted forest? And then I spent days coming up with ice cream flavors and sundaes for my parlor (and also talking about cannibalism, particularly medical cannibalism, but that's another story).
I figure there'd be a set of always available flavors. Like chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry are required. Maybe matcha? Something coffee based, probably. And all of the always available flavors would also be available in dairy-free and nut-free options. And I've heard how hard it is to find gluten-free chocolate ice cream, so definitely gluten-free options, too.
But the real stars here are the sundaes. There'd be the regularly available flavors and seasonal flavors of ice cream along with a variety of basic and seasonal fruits and toppings. You could build your own, or we'd have a selection of menu offerings. Everything would be topped with whipped cream, of course, except when it's got something like marshmallow fluff instead.
We'd have to have a whole variety of splits. Like, what am I even doing having a fruit-focused ice cream parlor without banana splits?
Including a banana split with dulce de leche ice cream, salted almonds, and hot fudge (because chocolate is still allowed, it just won't be in or on everything).
Or a peach split with roasted peaches, cinnamon ice cream, toasted oat crumble with walnuts or pecans, and brown sugar syrup.
Or a mango split with cardamom ice cream, salted cashews, and browned butter rum sauce.
An apple split with cinnamon roasted apples, vanilla ice cream, almonds, toffee bits, and caramel or butterscotch syrup.
Since it's fairy or enchanted forest themed, I'd want to include floral and herbal flavors, too.
Like for summer, I'd need vanilla lime ice cream with fresh watermelon with mint and lime juice and house-made strawberry syrup.
A warm sugar cookie topped with lemon lavender ice cream and fresh blueberry syrup.
Hibiscus ice cream with strawberry swirl.
Earl Grey ice cream with blackberries and chocolate lavender syrup (maybe with pound cake or a sugar cookie?)
For spring into summer, we could have fresh raspberries and mangoes with matcha ice cream and strawberry syrup.
For early autumn, we could have a peanut butter blondie with honey ice cream, fresh grapes, and peanut butter sauce.
From Halloween to Thanksgiving, we could have pumpkin ice cream with cranberry syrup, toasted pecans, and marshmallow fluff .
For deep winter, something with a clever name referencing Persephone with smoked vanilla ice cream with a clementine curd swirl, pomegranate syrup and fresh arils, and salted pistachios.
And for the people who really want a lot of chocolate, a chili pepper brownie with dark chocolate cinnamon ice cream with cocoa nibs topped with espresso hot fudge and chocolate shavings.
Those are my ideas from the last week (no name for this imaginary place, of course, because I'm terrible at naming things). I still need more ideas that include raspberries, blackberries, apricots, pineapples, and...so many other fruits. Pears. Plums.
I might have to make some of these sundaes for myself sometime.
As my followers that have been here the longest may know I love baking!
I think it's a lot of fun, and it's a great way to show others you care about them. Baking is one of my love languages and it mixes well with one of my other love languages gift giving!
So, because of this, I thought it would a great idea to make an entire prompt list dedicated to all kinds of sweet treats. There are many, many baked goods that are perfect for all types of occasions so in my opinion, a sweet-themed prompt list is perfect for writing!
I will warn you there will be a lot of pies, a lot of cakes, a lot of cupcakes, a little bit of ice cream, and much, much more. There are a lot of baked goods of the same type that are great for anything really.
So please enjoy these sweet prompts, and if you use them please tag/credit me so I can check it out!
I hope you all stay blessed and safe throughout your day.

amortentia is a love potion used in the harry potter universe to evoke a strong sense of infatuation upon the one who drinks it. the aroma of amortentia varies between people as each individual will smell what they find most attractive. essentially, these are the scents that I think the hq guys would be drawn to and/or cherish.

Sorry for responding later than I wanted to! Life fucked me over for a couple days and didn't even have the decency to use any lube. The audacity, I tell you. But I digress. Big hugs and air smooches for you, beautiful! I really hope you're feeling better now 😚 Give BooBoo, Luka, Bean, Zeppelin, Creedence and Otis pets and cuddles for me. Same for Abigail and Abraham 🥰
Spring Green: When I'm stressed, the thing that relaxes me no matter what is lighting some candles or incense and watching either the first season of Gilmore Girls, or The Nanny. And cuddling up under the blanket with my kitty, Phoebe. That, or an orgasm always helps 😄
Cotton Candy: I honestly couldn't pick just one, so I'll have to give you my top 3. That'd be chocolate lava cake, sticky toffee pudding or cherry pie. Which honestly all sound good right now, especially with pms 😅
Dandelion: When people say "well someone else has it worse/ it could be worse" when you're going through something. It just breaks my heart. It shouldn't have to be a competition. It doesn't negate what you're going through and I think people have every right to feel, no matter how big or small the situation is. I hope that makes sense!
Kitten Gray: I have a red patch tabby named Phoebe. She turns 9 May 1st 🥺 She's honestly my best friend and my baby. I adopted her from a kill shelter when she was 9 months old. Actually found her the day she was supposed to be euthanized. She had been rescued from an abusive animal hoarding situation. I remember rushing to the shelter and meeting her. I picked her up and she made biscuits on my arm, gave me lovey eyes and marked my face. This was her first night home with me:
This is her now, politely asking for second dinner lol.
Her favorite thing in the world is cuddles. Especially tummy rubs. (Don't ask why. I have no heckin clue🤷🏻♀️I think she forgot the memo that she's a cat) She smells like a combo of cinnamon toast crunch, and what the air smells like when it rains. She loves cheese, bacon, lettuce and especially olives. My favorite thing about her is how she talks. She meows, of course. But she has this way of....shall we say, quacking. And it melts my heart every time.
I also have a family of squirrels that have been in my backyard for years. My favorite one is the little one. I named him Gus Gus. I feed them apples and carrots every chance I get.
Petal Pink: My fashion sense is all over the place, babes 😅 I love all black outfits. If not black, anything emerald, burgundy or khaki/olive toned. Lace. Thigh high leather or suede boots. Cozy, oversized sweaters. Ohh and lingerie pieces mixed in with normal clothing when you can get away with it. As of right now, I'm donning an oversized dark gray henley. Basically a nighty at this point lol. But it's not that hard when you're only 5'2''. That, and some perfume. That's about it for bedtime 😊
Thank you for these asks, darling! You made me smile tonight 💗💗💗💗💗
