Little demigods with immeasurable powers weren’t meant to be running around in places such as these. Little demigods were supposed to be nipped in the bud. Humans and Gods were not permitted to mix, it was unbecoming of wolves to convene with rabbits. That’s all humans were, dirty helpless rabbits, only knowing how to bare their holes and spread their plague until the very world they were gifted began to burst at the seams. Useless rabbits, the gods tutted in sympathy. Only knowing how to fuck, run, and die. The Shinto pantheon deemed themselves more refined than their Greek Hellenistic counterparts. Nothing good came from demigods.

speaking of magical girl au doc i think. i think he grew up in the shadow organization, actually. his life’s work is on magic. the opening of the spirit jar and the ever-nearer wishing star is a dream to him. subjugating the spirits in order to bring magic back to humanity is basically everything he wants, and to use it for the greater good -

- and naturally, everyone says that power needs to end up in the hands of the worthy and -

- and he sits outside the steps with blackbird. the magical girl’s wings are spread out so they can be checked for injuries. she normally only shows up when she’s badly hurt; she knows better than to give them access to her when she doesn’t absolutely need it. nonetheless, doc helps, because when they help, she lets them run tests. a quid pro quo. the moment his boss figures out how to trigger a transformation in someone who isn’t her, doc has no illusions about what will happen. he used to gloat about it, in fact. why wouldn’t he?

it’s his life’s work. it’s everything he’s ever wanted. it’s everything he’s ever known how to want.

but lately...

he’s patching up blackbird, gentler than many of his coworkers, when she suddenly says: “you can do better, you know.”

(he doesn’t know she’s echoing words scar told her on the edge of a battlefield before, her lips wide and snarling through her injuries. he won’t even guess until he’s shown footage he knows is edited but can’t get the real version of.)

“can i?” he asks.

blackbird snorts.

“you have a point,” she mutters.

he doesn’t know how to say that the other day, out drinking with ren, he’d watched an attack on the tv and babbled something about resigning. he doesn’t know how to say that he’s pretty sure he’s not actually allowed to resign. he’s doesn’t know how to say he doesn’t know anything else.

“besides, you’re the answer to a lot of mysteries i want answers to,” he says instead.

“i am, aren’t i? but don’t you ever...”

she goes quiet.

“nevermind,” she says. “don’t know why i bother talking to you.”

“hah,” doc says. he finishes what he’s doing without speaking and then, hesitantly, walks inside without making blackbird take a blood test or anything else. he’s not sure why he skips it. he’s just... he’s not as motivated lately. not sure what that says about him.

two days later, he’s being questioned after blackbird vanishes from all their tracking. he will not see her again until she’s dragged back in in chains a week and a half later. he doesn’t know why. she doesn’t answer. he doesn’t ask.

Was thinking it over that Callum giving up info/doing dark magic to save Rayla in 5x08 is indeed the equivalent of her leaving in Through the Moon (“As long as we love each other, as long as we protect each other” “I was trying to protect him” / “I knew I had to be strong alone” + Callum not telling her about what he did / “All that talk about how love makes you stronger, but the second that elf girl in pain, you completely lost yourself” “I have to be strong, no matter what, and if you said even one word to me, I wouldn’t - couldn’t be”). 

And Rayla is still set up to be the one to save Callum from brainwashing/his imposed ‘destiny’ in S6, probably tying together her arc regarding sacrifice and her well, refusing to sacrifice Callum even for the good of the world. Which means also having to save her - from death, from Aaravos, and subsequently risking the world for her as well - is still on the goddamn fucking table I am Losing my mind
