MHA 418 leak reactions
Izuku blips over middle school and becomes a child in Tomura’s mind scape as Tenko decays Mon.
Baby Izuku holds baby Tenko’s hands in order to stop him from decaying Hana. Izuku starts decaying (!!!) but tells himself this is an imaginary place??? Dude, 2 chapters ago you were saying that you COULD get hurt in this mind scape. Which one is it?!?!??! WHICH ONE IS IT IZUKU?!?!!?!
Tenko cries and says no, he WANTS to destroy his house and family, because if he doesn’t want to destroy, then why was he born bad? (Ugh, poor kiddo!)
Tenko tells Izuku to go away, and it’s still not clear if it’s out of self-hatred or to keep Izuku safe. I lost count of how many times this happened in the last 3 chapters….
But Izuku says no. AGAIN. And finally, Izuku says something honest about why he wants to be a hero and save Tenko: Izuku feels relief when he holds the hand of someone who is hurting.
And with that, Izuku tells Tenko, “I am here.” Brilliant.
We see Tenko smile as he’s on a playground with his friends, and Tomo-chan tells him that he can play as All Might. Join the club, Tenko!!!!
Oh but of course it’s not that easy. If Izuku finally says why HE wants to be a hero, then it’s Tenko’s turn to explain why he has to be a villain: Because he hates and destroys things, and even if he didn’t, there are others who need him and look to him to destroy.
Back in the “real world,” there are some citizens cheering for Shigaraki. They’re sad (??) when the finger armor begins to disappear when ….
AFO’s MEMORIES APPEAR!!!! OH LAWD HE COMIN!!!!!
KOTARO WAS DRINKING WINE AND TALKING ABOUT TENKO’s QUIRK WITH MYSTERY HAT MAN???
Okay the chapter ends with vestige AFO returning (and maybe able to control Tomura again?) BUT it sounds like Kotaro bought his son a quirk from AFO? Or was Kotaro himself somehow taken under AFO’s wing after Nana gave him up for adoption??? Like they know each other and have dinner together????
You guys, this is so much worse than just “oh AFO gave Tenko decay……” Well done Horikoshi for one more good twist.

SPOILERS!!! REFERENCES AND EASTER EGGS IN F&C ep. 7: THE STAR
Let's see what this episode has in store.
Tumblr media
This is an alternate universe where Simon was killed by vampires before he found Marceline. Even the scientific parasite in his breast pocket looks like it has been drained of blood.
Tumblr media
Our Simon demonstrating his survival skills. We never got to see him dealing with vampires in his own universe, but presumably he ran into them a few times and is familiar with their weaknesses.
Tumblr media
These kinds of vampire minions last appeared in the Stakes miniseries. They are a lot more varied in design now. Also, the architecture of this world is interesting. It looks like gothic palaces have been built into the roots of decaying skyscrapers.
Tumblr media
Bonnie's crew has several of the familiar vampire hunting tools from Stakes, including stake launchers and garlic bombs. They also douse some of the vampires in holy water, which was previously shown to harm demons in the episode Dad's Dungeon. This is the first time it's been seen working on vampires.
Tumblr media
Marshall Lee has a Hambo mirror decoration. In the prime universe Hambo was Marceline's toy teddy bear, given to her by Simon.
Tumblr media
Martin is an interesting choice for Bonnie's crew. In this universe it seems like he never had a son, since the humans presumably never left Ooo for the Islands. It also seems like he's a better person here, willing to risk his life to follow Fionna's noble lead. He has the same jacket as he had in The Visitor, which several people identified when we first saw Fionna wearing it in the trailer.
Tumblr media
The cat on Bonnie's mug is Timmy from the episode The Pajama War. The fact she broke it is surely the most heartbreaking loss of this episode :(
Tumblr media
The other member of the team is Huntress Wizard, who looks to be a human in this universe for some reason. I don't think Huntress Wizard was originally human in the prime universe.
Tumblr media
Baby Finn snuck into this universe, and by the end of the episode was left to be raised by self-repairing battletank single gay dad PepButt. I'm sure he'll turn out fine.
Tumblr media
The Cosmic Owl has been flagged up on Scarab's arrest list for "profiteering". Perhaps his neglect of his duties during Hoots has been discovered, or perhaps this is a new crime.
Tumblr media
There are loads of new genderswapped characters in this scene. I've already reblogged a post listing all the ones we've spotted so far, so refer to that for details. The most significant is Ms. Abadeer. According to the credits, her first name is Hana.
Tumblr media
Even Billy has been slain by vampires.
Tumblr media
Princess Bubblegum calls Fionna a dillweed, her go-to insult from the episode Hot Diggity Doom. It's good to hear some Adventure Time swearing from time to time despite the liberties they're taking with the TV-14 rating.
Tumblr media
Enter the titular character! Like the other members of the Vampire Court from Stakes, Marceline has taken a new name from the ranks of the Major Arcana of a tarot deck: The Star. Huntress mentions that she is the last member of the court, having outlived everyone beside the Vampire King himself. The fact she can fly suggests she killed and sucked The Fool's soul despite him being a fellow member of the court.
Tumblr media
She is seen using her soul-sucking demon powers, inherited from Hunson, on Martin. She also demonstrates that she has no problem drinking blood in this universe, despite the fact vampires can eat the colour red.
Tumblr media
Bonnie and The Star have such an interesting dynamic in this episode. It seems like fate is seeking to entwine them, but this has been twisted into a relationship of mutual hatred. Yet The Star is furious when a minion suggests she kill Bonnie, and Bonnie fails to take an opportunity to kill The Star later on. Something is keeping these two immortals in an eternal dance, even in a universe where they are arch nemeses.
Tumblr media
A lot of this series has centred around Simon's relationship to fatherhood, and realising that he is a better dad than some of the others he's met will likely end up being a key moment in his recovery.
Tumblr media
I believe this section was boarded by Hannah K. You've probably all seen her famous Bubbline stakeplay drawing. This scene must have been fun to draw.
Tumblr media
I really enjoyed the parallel of Gary and Marshall getting their climactic kiss while Bonnie and The Star fell together to their deaths, demonstrating that the girls' fall was just as gay as the boys kissing, but in a very different way. We also know from interviews that Gary and Marshall's relationship is supposed to parallel that of early Bubbline in the prime universe. Perhaps Princess Bubblegum got Marceline out of a bad deal with Hunson Abadeer, shortly after their first meeting at Marceline's concert, and that's when they first hit it off.
Tumblr media
The dream in this episode's credits features Marceline's house; a home that neither The Star nor this Marshall Lee have ever known.

Shigaraki Tomura, Izuku Midoriya, and their past selves in Horikoshi's other works, an Analysis.
How their archetypes can be traced back all the way to Hori's oldest works!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Today I finally felt with the energy to write this analysis I've been cooking in my head for some months!
I'll be pulling apart the core elements of each of Hori's past work's protagonist duo and how they are essential to everything Hero Academia has became
It will be long.
First things first, let's start with Horikoshi's first work ever!
1. Tenko One Shot.
This tale tells us the story of two main characters, Hana and obviously, Tenko!
Hana is a woman aspiring to be a samurai, she is hopeful and stubborn, but is shunned down by most and ridiculed by other samurais for being, well, a woman wanting to be something only men can be.
But just like Izuku, she is VERY stubborn, and won't give up her dreams at all.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
( You can read the full thing here btw! https://imgur.com/a/v7oBkfx )
Our second protagonist, and main tittle of the story, is a little boy called Tenko, who she meets when he literally attacked her lol
Like Tomura, he has the power to decay anything he touches, and is in seek of revenge, his goal is to destroy all swords after his mother was cruelly killed by a samurai.
Despite all the hatred the feels, he is still a kid, suffering and crying in seek of relief for his grief.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He is known as a vandal, and is being wanted dead or alive by the authorities for interfering in battles.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hana, gentle and caring, notices the pain in Tenko and takes him with her, to take care of him, after all, he is just a child.
But after being found by an official, believes she has the chance to be recognized as a samurai if she give Tenko to the authorities, and well- it obviously goes terribly wrong- as she is attacked by them instead.
Suddenly realizing how cruel they truly are, she takes her own sword and fight them to defend Tenko, making Tenko also realize, swords can be used to protect and save.
In the end, they end up to saving each other, Hana saving Tenko's heart, making him realize his hatred will never lead anywhere, and lift the weight of his chest by winning a friend, and Tenko making Hana realize war is more than what she thought.
Tenko obviously, is literally Tomura's first prototype, the decay power, the white hair, the hatred, guilt and grieve are all there.
Tumblr media
But what if I told you Hana is also, pretty similar to Izuku? Both have a dream that is deemed impossible to reach, due to something they lack, and are a joke to most people, but despite it all they never give up, and manage to reach their goals. They are also strong but gentle and caring ( ngl Izuku might even be more soft than Hana ajhdka)
Tumblr media
2. Oumagadoki Zoo
Tumblr media
This one, guess what, also have a female protagonist, yes also called Hana.
Aoi Hana is a bubbly, awkward and stubborn girl with her head in the clouds, but teased by everyone, known as "good for nothing" and useless.
She then decides to get a job during summer break, to prove she is more than capable of helping.
As an animal lover, she gets a job at the local Zoo as a cleaner, but she discover that the Zoon principal is a literal bunny person.
Tumblr media
Shiina, the other protagonist of the story, is a man-child dude, he was cursed as a kid for being mean to a bunny, turned into a rabbit until he learned to be kind and help animals. Much like Tomura, he is short tempered, a gremlin, a little bitch!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He created the zoo to try to break the curse, and now counts with Hana's help to do so. The zoo, by the way, is also full of cursed half human half animal people!
The manga was canceled, so Hori had to rush the end, it has only 5 volumes, but I believe it would end with Hana finally breaking Shiina's curse.
Well, the similarities to Tomura? Once again through the roof, he is literally Tomura without depression (and scars and wrinkles)! He is a brat, selfish, intelligent and powerful, but incredibly dumb, he even refers to the other zoo people as "comrades" the exact same word Tomura refers the League of Villains as! They even sit down the same, careless way! Bad posture kings 🦐
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now, I think you noticed that Hana's story is also familiar? Yes! IZUKU
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Both are deemed useless, are clumsy and awkward, and have pretty much low self esteem, but are kind, gentle and loving, and have an altruistic heart!
Just like in Tenko, Hana is key to saving Shiina's heart, and both learn a lot with each other, as Shiina sees the worth in Hana, and Hana sees the kindness in Shiina, evolving each other to the better.
3. Shinka Rhapsody One shot
Tumblr media
This one is pretty much lost media, very few people know about it, but i found a thread about it
(thread here https://twitter.com/HeroFletch/status/1273054822162456578 )
It is literally MHA but the quirks work in a different way
This time the first protag is the man and the girl is the second, but it doesn't matter lol
The story happens in a world similar to the one of the raise of quirks in MHA, criminal rate is all time up.
The protagonist Magari/Masashi(idk) is, again, a guy with strong personality, seeking for revenge and power, as his family was murdered by a serial killer
He got a power similar to Kirishima's, but oh boy his face and personality is just Tomura all over again, Hori's favorite OC
Tumblr media
And guess what??? Ohh he also has a female companion helping him???? YES HE DOES!
Her name is Aoi, yes, like Aoi Hana from the zoo one, yes guess what, yes, bubbly awkward, yes.
Tumblr media
She is an aspiring detective and has the habit of asking people if they like Katsudon, her favorite food.
Wait... Katsudon? As favorite food... Where I saw this before-
Tumblr media Tumblr media
4. Boku no Hero One shot.
Tumblr media
here if u wanna read https://yesmangas1.com/manga/boku-no-hero-ym23733/one-shot#1
This one is a break to the pattern, no Shigaraki look alike, no Aoi Hana, but, someone who is pretty similar to her in personality:
Jack Midoriya
Jack Midoriya is a quirkless man in a super society, his job is to sell support items, but he is too awkward, clumsy and stubborn, causing more problems than helping, he has an impossible dream of becoming a hero, so he tries to become the first quirkless hero! (it goes wrong)
There is a girl in this story too, i guess she is this Izuku's Uraraka, they are both literally the same in personality, so i guess hori Split Hana in two for this one.
5. Barrage or Sensei no Bulge
(the second tittle is so funny lmao)
This time hori completly threw everything out and said: fuck the pattern, fuck Hana, fuck Tenko wanabe!
It has literally nothing to do with anything he did previously. Astro, can be similar to Izuku, but hmmm not fit the mold, so i'll just skip lmao, it also was canceled, ending in 2 volumes anyways.
SUMMARY AND CONCLUSION
So far, we can conclude a very recurrent pattern in every work Horikoshi publicized (except barrage lolz)
Protagonist 1:
Is a gentle, caring, stubborn, clumsy and awkward person, they have a heart of a hero, but are often seen as weak, useless, and stupid for dreaming too high. They can be strong when they want to, but feminine and loving too, they are altruistic, loyal, and focused. Their role in the story is to find their own self worth, as well as help the 2nd protagonist break free from a torment.
Protag 2:
A selfish, childish, mean and also stubborn boy, who's heart is filled with hatred, hurt and grief, they are cursed somehow, and besides having a rough exterior, deep inside they are still just a child who seeks relief. Their role in the story, is to after Protag 1 advances, open up and allow themselves to be saved in heart and mind.
Of course, due to the past series length of few pages to only a few volumes, they open up to each other and befriend rather quickly, but MHA is well- 40 volumes long by now, ofc course P.2 will give much more trouble to open up, it's not that easy to cure someone's bitterness and guilt!
Which leads to Horikoshi's last work, My Hero Academia.
The story of protagonist 1 incarnated as a mix of every character Hori wrote before as Izuku Midoriya, a quirkless boy who feels useless, but has a big dream, a kind heart and the desire to save.
And also the story of MHA's society's biggest victim, a childish man who has been hurt in every possible way, by every person he dared to trust, be it his own family or his "sensei", Tomura Shigaraki is nothing but a child at heart, crying onto his puppy, waiting for the one who will save him.
This is undeniable, I was already sure with everything I've read in MHA that Tomura is getting saved, Izuku yelled it himself, and the narrative is walking towards that.
But after analyzing Hori's part works, and see how wholesome and hopeful his stories are, how he desires to transmit the message that everyone deserves a second chance, i have no doubt.
Tomura is DESTINED to be not only saved, redeemed or live, but to have a happy ending and finally have a friend to trust.
Tumblr media
As every story so far ended with the kind one befriending and becoming a pillar to the hurt one.
Izuku and Tomura are more than the heart of My hero Academia, but also the heart of everything Horikoshi wants to tell to the world.
They are fated to end the same way every time, in every universe.
BESTIES ARC IS COMING.

What do you think of afo giving shiggy decay
Oldest and favorite theory now to (very possibly) turn true in the manga. This was seriously one of my first theories when I joined the fandom!!!
Tumblr sucks at helping you find your own posts, meaning I have no way to link my old posts about it in this ask :( but anyway.
At first it was purely born from the frame of the shadow man with the hat delivering Tenko home and how strange it was that Tenko happened to awaken his quirk that day. There's also the fact that the man looked a lot like AFO, with the body structure, the suit and the face in shadows.
This is the panel that started it all:
Tumblr media
I remember a lot of people went against it 'cause it was anticlimactic for them. They thought that if AFO gave Tenko decay, that event was taking something from Tomura as a character, making him less interesting.
For me, it made sense because there were too many factors that you couldn't explain otherwise. Some of them are exposed here. There are too many variables for it to be a coincidence. Now, if AFO gave Tenko decay or if he did something to activate it that day... That's yet to know.
But for example, look here. AFO had a room fully prepared for Tomura. He had shelves full of books, a bed, a chair and a desk... He even had toys!
* it looks like some of the action figures had arms or even the head missing. One of them is fully on the ground.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It wasn't long until Tomura had a PC installed too:
Tumblr media
It's clear that AFO was expecting him. For what I know from the Vigilantes manga and bnha, AFO didn't treat every kidnapped kid like that. He had a hospital full of kids to turn into nomus after all. He wasn't that involved with every experiment.
Tomura was clearly different from the star. He knew who Tomura was, he expected the tragedy to happen, he expected the quirk too. AFO never reached for Tomura's hands. He acted like he had already seen the state the Shimuras' house was left in. He knew where to look for Tenko, like he was following him.
And the way he spoke... It was too premeditated:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He created that situation so he could play the role of Tenko's saviour. He needed Tenko to hate every hero, every citizen, he needed to feed his anger, his hurt. Or well, at least how's the theory goes.
AFO gave Tenko decay, waited for the result of an abused 5 years old reaching his limit and then he appeared like a knight in shining armor. He made sure to allow Tenko to walk around, he was also probably using his influence to interfere so a) the Shimuras deaths wouldn't become a scandal and b) no one would rescue Tenko before he could.
But going back to the "AFO gave Tenko decay" theory, I think the canon fact that supports that theory the most is that Tenko was already 5 years old. Here are the panels I'm referring to:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There's always the question if the Shimuras had a quirk. We know Nana had hers, but nothing is said about Kotaro or Nao or even Hana. We don't know if they were mostly a quirkless family or if Tenko would be the first one of them.
For the way Tenko recounted his day to Nao, we know that he was at the park playing with some friends. Here:
Tumblr media
Between AFO picking Tenko up from the park and taking him home to his family, he must have done something. I don't know about the timeline... and if Giran could have already been associated with AFO... I just remembered that his quirk was the ability to muddy the memory of anyone up to five minutes prior or after he used it.
You see, Tenko never said anything to his family about the man that brought him home. We don't know what Tenko did when he "played the hero". We don't know what AFO told Nao. This is just theorizing, but giving someone a quirk by force doesn't hurt? From whom did AFO take decay if Tenko wasn't the original user?
Doc Garaki said it was a quirk never seen before...
I don't know. Since you asked me my opinion, I'll say that I'm still not very sure if AFO gave decay to Tenko or if it was Tenko's quirk from the start. It's not unheard of, since his case sounds a lot like Eri's, who developed a weirdly aggressive quirk on her own.
We're getting closer to being absolutely sure 'bout AFO's involvement with Tenko prior to the deaths of the Shimuras.
I just wonder what option fits better thematically.

MHA chapter 417 (rant)
What in the time travel is this?!?! Why is it always time travel I swear this could of been solved without it and you're basically telling me that shigaraki is so evil that yes we need to go back in time and change fate itself so nothing happens and somehow crack the case that tenko is stuck in and completely differentiate tenko and shigaraki
Tumblr media
Why are we just stuck in the past?!?! This overlaps with my first point but why are we in the past again it seriously makes no sense. What happend to the fight?!?! What is Izuku's body doing now what is shigarakis body doing now?!?!? What happend to the whole they're memories are becoming one because right now all Iam seeing is shigarakis memories and none of izukus this feels like shigaraki just trauma dumping and showing Izuku all this stuff he went through because Izuku somehow needs to understand shigaraki like it isn't shigaraki who doesn't understand Izuku and izuku has more understanding than shigaraki does. Plus what was the thing about them becoming one person when that didn't happen at all?!?!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Did Izuku seriously lose all of his quirks?!?! So izuku just lost all his quirks except of float shimura's quirk of course cos she just needed to be there doing nothing but apologising for her failures and somehow breaking a barrier of tine space jumbo stuff to basically did this time traveling thing and woah does this suck poor izuku went through absolute living hell to get this Quirk, train with it and fight with it just to lose it and lose all his hope and dreams in the process. The ending where he becomes some bimbo stuck raising Tenko is ever so closer and closer and I absolutely hate it also I seriously hate that we didn't get a farewell or anything that happend so quick and how did it impact shigaraki?!?!? It doesn't look like he was impacted and then shimura is only there because of the annoying power of rejection somehow somehow a power like this exists because willpower or something
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Where did stain, redestro and overhaul come from ?!?! Why was this there like seriously what was this for?!? Was this to be like oh izuku are you ready for changing future time travel stuff balh blah blah and we are just spirits here to haunt you before making this important decision?!?!? Also if izuku broke the barrier and almost got run over by a truck then how the actual hell did those three come into that space at the same time isn't this messing with the past future and present typa of thing because to me it seriously makes no sense how they're there?!?!
Tumblr media
The shimura family left a bad taste in my mouth. Bruh the shimura family confrontation went down the bin for real tho. Like nothing happens except kotaro hits his child, nana is crying and that's it nothing else. What happend in between did nao come and do what she did last time did shimura and kotaro see eachother or was it just a transfer thing to Tenko and some and how is it that izuku has to witness death or is probably gonna die next chapter because of decay. Remember izuku has no quirks he is freshly quirkless again and the others can see him but haven't said anything?!?! This was seriously horrible like are we gonna get a kotaro redemption or something because he definitely is better built up for one than endeavour ever was but nope he will slap child on face get hated done and over maybe he will realise his wrongs probably not. Also are you telling me that no one did anything about the random kid with the UA uniform in their house like?!?! What did Hana and nao do?!?! Why does the corgi have to die again?!?!?? BLAMING NANA FOR SOMETHING THAT SHE Could CONTROL AND MAKING HER SEEM LIKE THE REASON KOTARO BECAME AN ABUSER WAS BECAUSE SHE WAS A BAD MOTHER WHEN THATS NOT THE TRUTH IS HORRENDOUS ABSLOUTELY AND UTTERLY RIDICULOUS
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Dark deku really?!?!?! Was this what momo was talking about like Iam so confused is this just supposed to be a little mental challenge obstacle for izuku because we know hori didn't let him face or develop from his previous mental issues that were caused by his bullies and especially bakugo so is he finally semi acknowledging fans that talk about this and was like look he has to confront himself bs and the confrontation doesn't last long at all. Like Armin from aot has better confrontation with himself then this. Or is this some thing where izuku becomes dark due to him and shigarakis memories becoming one or something
Tumblr media
@doodlegirl1998 pointed out that this manga panel ☝️ looks like kurogiri dark deku and I can't stop thinking about it and how bad this is 😭. Izuku didn't even get to acknowledge anything and kurogiri is legit a dark version of oboro 💀💀

Hello!! At the new chapter that just came out, (417), why do you think horikoshi decided to draw izuku with his middle school uniform? Do you have any thoughts?
Well, the chapter is not quite out yet, officially, but yes I do have thoughts.
There are several options. One possible explanation is that when Nana and Deku broke through the last barrier, he used up all of OFA to break into the Vestige version of the Shimura house and the middle school uniform represents quirkless Deku.
Another option is that whether or not Deku has any part of OFA left, this fight is not anymore about OFA or Deku's hero skills, but Izuku Midoriya's heroic spirit and we are circling back to the question what makes a hero.
Back in Ch 1, All Might told this Izuku that he cannot be a hero without a quirk. Yet, in that same chapter, Izuku - without any quirk, through his sheer will to save - inspired All Might and saved his worst enemy of that time of his life (Bakugou).
Now he's got to the point of Tenko's life where he's just moment away from getting his quirk, but also moments away from expressing the emotion that will consume him and will make him vulnerable to AFO gaslighting into believing that he wanted to do any of it ("I hate everyone").
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So this could be a pivotal moment for Deku to intervene and do a "Fix It" for Tenko - be the hero who helps Tenko gain control over his quirk, or reach out a hand to him (when you remember Hana was the first one to find him and she tried to run away) and help him calm him down. Middle school Izuku with his obsessive quirk analysis and his kind heart may be the type of person who can help him get a grip on his power and prevent him re-living the accident.
Both Toga and Touya got their own child-version "fix-it"-s. Touya got to go back metaphorically to Sekoto peak and have all his family to show up for him. Toga got someone embrace her as a "normal girl".
I think for Tenko it's either this moment that will get "fixed" to show that he didn't want to do it. Or it will be Izuku watching him decay his entire family and embrace him afterwards and take his hand to try to lead him out of his hiding place. To show him that he didn't deserve to be abandoned because of a quirk accident and that a hero did come for him.
At the same time proving Izuku's middle school self that the quirk never made him a hero - he always had that inside him.

The leaks are real but something just feels off about the chapter itself. While we’ve seen in a previous flashback(forgot which one), that Overhaul was very likely to be one of the orphan children prior to joining the Yakuza, it’s just the overall flow of the chapter just makes it seem unsatisfying and resulting in plot holes. Like AFO considered training teenagers to be his double but it seems rather forced to ask Kotaro to have another child and Hana doesn’t seem to reached double digits. Or copying the Overhaul Quirk and making decay out of it would mean that Afo and Garaki could’ve fixed the former’s issues unless Touya destroyed it by accident. And then there’s the situation where technically, only Bakugo won while every other student didn’t achieve their goals(Shoto, Ochaco and Izuku) and that chapter 420 is going to match a certain someone’s birthday.
It actually would make sense though to have the side characters beat AFO but having the other fights not mentioned yet be done off screen is still unsatisfying.
We know that in real life, Hori has health issues due to working with Shonen Jump and having the Dragon Ball creator die last month is very likely to make things more somber. I’m not going to be surprised if he had someone else draw some pages(unless the change in artstyle somehow is a plot point).
Isn’t MHA Izuku’s retelling of the events to someone? Overhaul or Eri are likely to be the Macguffins to give Izuku his arms back given what we’ve seen with Eri earlier so we’re going to have some chapters of celebration of the “win” and a small epilogue.
At least we have fan fiction since it’s very likely that people will ignore the ending.
Yeah this chapter feels soooo off! And dont let me start talking about all the plot holes and how a single chapter managed to destroy over the years built up plotpoints. Like you said WHY would afo and garaki not use the overhaul copy on afo to heal him ESPICIALLY because afo told garaki once "then hurry up and fix me doctor" after garaki mentioned that they havent found a fitting regeneration quirk yet and you are telling me THEY WOULDNT USE THE OVERHAUL COPY TO ARCHIVE THAT??? It was made clear afo wanted to get back to full health but he doesnt use the quirk that could fix him in ONE MINUTE??? Or an other plot hole: afo somehow (dont show just tell) managed to convince the shimuras to have an other child because he considered hana to old to get manipulated DESPITE that he owns orphanages full of children older then or around hanas age even TEENAGE touya and chisaki he considered as fitting vessels if tomura shouldnt work out but HANA was to old??? This is literally retconning what was already confirmed as facts!
And about bakugou: well he is horis golden child so OF COURSE only he is allowed to win since his character is all about winning. And unlike izuku, ochako and shoto he had ZERO emotional connection to afo. No deep. No feelings. Just to give bakugoubitch a win by giving the bad guy the final killing blow, immediately praised for doing so as if afo wasnt already half dead and severly weakend by dotzens of other heroes before who did so much more but BAKUGOU gets the praise (to be fair he did say it was a group effort but he still was the one who was praised first as if he did it all alone)! The ironic thing is bakugou did exactly what he always does: winning by killing. How ironic. Just a few chapters before we got afos backstory which revealed he was a victim of society too but I guess simply killing these kind of people changes everything to the better. Their society will not change. There will just show up an other afo or tomura at one point. Bakugou was allowed to beat and kill the main villain he had no relationship with but izuku, ochako and shoto are not allowed to safe their villain counterparts they actually have a relationship with. I mean its very possible that toga is alive because she is nowhere to be found, but touya even if he survives made clear he will never forgive his family and most likely ending terrible disabled (except if deux ex machine eri will be used here as well) and izuku who FINALLY was able to reach tomura has to watch how he gets destroyed by afo. The leaks say afo completly destroyed tomuras mind so that means he is pretty much dead and only his body remains which is now in afos full control. No final confrontation between afo and yoichi. Nope yoichi is just gone and afo doesnt even look that pissed off about it.
There are fights completly left out. We dont really see any of the other students fight, we just get told they won. We dont see the confrontation between aizawa, mic and kurogiri and just need to accept they eventually reached him and if anything we will only get a small flashback of the events. Its so disappointing and lame. It feels like as if hori just wants to end the manga as fast as possible so he uses his beloved "tell dont show" way of writing.
About horis health issues. I get that. As a huge bleach fan I was so dissapointed how rushed the last arc of bleach was but I was able to understand why. Kubo had health issues too and was forced by shonen jump to end the manga in 10 chapters. No one was more pissed off about that but kubo and if he had been healthy bleach would have lasted at least for an other year. But with hori it feels different. It feels like as if he really just wants to end the whole thing because he lost his interest. The last few arcs have been not really well written. I dont know if akira toriyamas sudden death plays a role in this disaster of a chapter. I get that it was a shock for the manga world. I get that mangakas loved the guy. But maybe instead of rushing the plot and retconning already built plot points hori should just have taken a long break to get himself together if it really affected him that much AND to get rest. Toriyama still lives through his work and will inspire many new mangakas for the comming 50 years or more.
By the way Im not worried about izukus arms at all. Its obvious eri will get used as the deux ex machine to restore them. If its not her then overhaul but Im pretty positiv she will heal izuku. The thing is even if izuku gets finally his confrontation with afo its clear he will win and afo will die.... again. Wow, how creativ. The only thing I hope is that if dfo is canon then izuku will somehow reach afo to get at least a little bit of emotion in that fight and will convince him to let tomura go if there is still a chance to safe him. Im still to 100% sure dfo is canon by the way but I dont think it will have an statisfying outcome and will be rushed as hell.
All in all this was a very dissapointing outcome. I know the manga is not over yet so hori could still surprise us, but I dont have much hope left for a good and well written ending of the story. I really need to stop praising hori when he writes a REALLY good chapter like the one before, because everytime I do that the very next chapter is a pile of shit!
Sorry, if I sound so aggressive and harsh by the way, but this chapter really pissed me off. The ONLY thing I liked about it is the fact that its to 100% confirmed that afo can change his appearance which is a huge win for dfo. Also sorry for the rant and for possible gramatic errors but I wrote this whole thing in a hurry and most likely left a few dotzen things out that pissed me off. 😅

So @bibibbon talked about the chapter and was thinking in sit this one down but...nah, I want to say how...this chapter is another proof this is not a story where Izu will be the biggest hero, but the biggest martyr if he is lucky.
The fact Izu is now quirkless and lost an arm is...gross. really gross. I talked to @doodlegirl1998 how the trope people created in fics where "Izu loses his arm ain't cool?" Is really not cool. He loses an army for shocking value and gains nothing. Edward Elric wants to revive his mother and then save his bother...he lost his power but got something greater in return...and people think Izu and Edward's cases are the same. Not even in fics make similar.
@palesweetscherryblossom Izu lost his arm and quirk to save a lunatic. The fandom is weeping about Tenko's friends "he was so good" cricket noises to Izu as in chapter 1 we saw him doing the whole "helping misfit" but no misfit helped him.
Now .... something some people may not agree. Dfo! No. I dont think it will be canon nor I want to be. Afo has show he doesn't care for Izu (guys Inko already suck as mother...do we need to give this to Izu? What would help? I even think he wants to die now "don't have anything outside for me now")
We saw afo on a "date" with Kotaro and people may think this will lead to dfo. I think it will lead to afo being a creepy. Dude is doing everything to ruin Nana's family for....reasons we don't know. (If Nana was a man...would he have done this extreme? Not calling afo a sexist but if she was a man would the narrative treat the situation the same? Maybe, maybe not)
Afo is alive and well...inside Shig's world. We will see this asshole be his cringe self and ...Izu won't matter. We are seeing more of this joke now...afo walking around and talking to people is supposed to be scary "oooh the demon is among us" and if the writing was good this could have been a great twist....it's MHA. Afo was ausent in the story and is now a pitiful plot device.
A theory I saw...is how Yoichi may be the biggest hero and...sacrifice himself to end afo. So in a way, ending afo and ofa forever. Why he never did this before? Who cares? But this theory is still too optimist.
Izu and shig's memories don't really matter. It's an artificial way to make them seem as if they had a great relationship, they don't. Also ....have we saw any memory that matter for Izu? He has any good memory?
But yeah...afo gave shig decay...somehow. bc why not? You know, if Izu doesn't die...I do hope Eri rewind him so his arm is back.
Not sure if I'm making sense...it's just MHA is a big nothing and at the same time "fuck you Izu. Be silent" and his only theory is ...that fandom clings for some reason is "izu is the son of afo" and for what? What this would change? Afo calls Izu useless...he doesn't like him nor show any paternal love...guys, look how he treats Shig...why he would be a dad or want to be one?
I think next chapter....we will see afo's past again...more of the parasite. Seeing him planning how to ruin the Shimuras (the Shimuras as the newest chewing toy) and laughing maniacally. Why all that? Bc fuck you Nana.
Also.....Izu saw MONCHAN and Hana die. Great. He has no idea who they are but ...he saw they dying.

AU where Decay manifested partly as Kotarou gears up for the second slap. excerpt.
×
His quirk manifested itself when he was five years old, on a hot summer afternoon.
Hana betrayed him, Father slapped him hard enough to knock him down, and Mom and his grandparents stood and watched, unable or unwilling to stop his father, shock or fear bringing them to stillness. To a five-year-old, there was no forgivable distinction - all he knew was that Father’s hand was coming down fast a second time, and no one would be there to stop it.
So Tenko tried to stop it himself. He threw up his hands, a pitiful shield.
The memories afterward are equal parts as clear and sharp as glass, and as muddled and scratched up as a shattered shard. He remembers pain, two locations: one on his arm, on the surface of his skin, then one in his hand, bone-deep. He remembers what seemed like red rain, warm and thick, a sudden shower, splattering onto his face, seeping into his eyes. It stung. The world was dark and— the entire world, taste and smell, was sour.
Something heavy dropped in front of him with a dull thud, and he was able to hear this one noise so clearly despite the screams. Tenko remembers somehow picking it up - it was large and hot and squishy; then it was gone, broken into gooey wet chunks.
What he can’t remember is everything after that. The Heroes, the police car ride, the hospital.
His next real memory is waking up one morning with gloves on his hands, tied tight around his wrist. Father was still gone. No one would come near him.

Seiai Au:
What name does trans-fem Shigaraki, I think Hana would be a good name :)
Does anyone at Seiai watch her streams?
How are AFO and Kurogiri feeling about Shigaraki becoming trans-fem and a streamer?
I don't think she'd use Hana--something about that wouldn't sit right with her.
So much like Kumiko, I went to check on what 'Tomura' and 'Tenko' mean for the purpose of choosing a new name, and learned that apparently proto-Shigaraki would've been codenamed Sazanka, meaning 'Sand Calamity', so, like, that's the Twitch Username right there.
I couldn't find a good equivalent for Tenko or Tomura, but I did find the name Saori (沙織), which can be written with 沙 for sand, much like Sazanka, and ties into Decay, so that might be fun.
Ashido, Himiko, Sekigai, Tokage, and Hagakure seem like they'd be into gaming streams. Though I don't know if that means they'd find Sazanka.
I'm not sure if Kurogiri is capable of caring because of the whole Noumu thing. In any case I think he'd be fine with it. AFO would be a little less fine with it. Like, we saw there were girls in his orphanage of backup bodies so clearly he's not against possessing women but I'm not sure he'd necessarily help her transition if you get my drift.

Hot Take: Kotaro may have been a pos, but his family wasn't any better by letting Tenko get hurt and the confrontation was too little too late
Hi @theloganator101 👋,
I can see where you're coming from with this however I'm not entirely sure if I agree.
One thing we completely agree on, Kotaro was an abusive POS to his family and that's entirely on him. His abandonment issues with his mother make his resentment toward her and heroism sympathetic but that no reason to be an abusive father.
On his family standing by, that's what I'm mixed on. I may be wrong but I got the vibe from what little we see is that rather than being repeatedly physically abusive like Endeav, Kotaro was usually more cold / standoffish / neglectful dad.
Kotaro's behaviour, while also unacceptable, I think they had made allowances for because of his trauma of Nana's abandonment then death. When someone is traumatised - people do tend to be more sympathetic / make more allowances for bad behavior they would usually come down harsher on. (This is especially true if the person is someone they love like Nao loved Kotaro.)
I think the time that we see him hit Tenko that once occurred just that once which was why Nao and her parents confronted him in his office later that night. Two quotes make me believe this;
"That was too much." / "Yes I went too far. How are the kids?" (Side note - I'm not a Kotaro fan by any means but he is far more redeemable than Endeav. Here he shows immediate regret rather than Endeav only being sorry after 3/4 of his children have grown up, 1 of which he believed he killed long before this. Endeav only changed after he got everything HE wanted - the Number 1 Hero position. But I digress.)
"We are not going to play by your rules if you are going to get violent," That hints to me that Nao and her family are ready to take the kids and walk out on Kotaro if he ever goes that far again. Which from what little I know of Japanese Society that is a bold move of Nao and her family to threaten Kotaro with.
Tumblr media
The tragedy of the Shimura family here is that this night, unknown to Shig, they seem to have been building toward a turning point.
Kotaro realising he's been abusive and recognising he went too far could have easily led him to changing his act and going to therapy after this.
Or if he doesn't change his act, Nao and her family would have walked and taken Tenko and Hana to safety away from him.
Either way, Tenko and Hana's childhood seemed to have been building toward a happier place before decay activated and tore everything apart. :(

The itch for destruction, the hands of repression and my theories on AFO's involvement in Shigaraki Tomura / Tenko Shimura's past:
For all I prefer to interpret the hands around Tomura as AFO's way to control his grief and turn it into a weapon, there's another option to it.
According to the canon, Tomura was using the hands to keep himself in check*. Supposing that what AFO said is true and Tomura's itching is his urge to destroy*, then he was using the hands to remind himself of what he did to his family and why he couldn't let himself be left unchecked*.
Image for the orange text:
AFO, talking to Tomura:
" You carry an urge for destruction that you yourself can't even control. That itch is simply your body letting you know that your urge can't be contained any longer. "
Tumblr media
Image for the green text:
AFO, talking to Doc Garaki:
" He wears the hands of his family as if he's restraining himself, reproaching himself. With his memories locked away, all that's left are residual emotions. He's insecure. Just look at him. He doesn't even realize he's holding back when he's using his quirk. "
Tumblr media
Those panels raise several questions.
For example, we already know how suspicious it is that AFO was the one able to find Tenko. Chances are that he had been observing the Shimuras all that time, but then why didn't he kill them before? What was he waiting for?
Another suspicious thing is that the hands of the Shimura were in perfect condition.* Tenko killed them at night. He says he flew from his house, he ran away. *
No one, absolutely no one showed up.
It happened in seconds, of course. The backyard probably looked like a war zone or something.*
Images for the red text:
He decayed the house completely, to the point it was split in two when he left. He decayed the sidewalk in front of his house and if you look closely, the house next to the Shimuras too.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The question is: how was AFO able to search within that disaster for each individual hand of the Shimura family members before anyone could get there to clean it up? Those hands looked almost fresh, as sick as it sounds.*
You're telling me that AFO found Tomura— who was not speaking between, he went mute for a while after what happened that night— and he "coincidentally" found a way to get the hands of the Shimuras like it was nothing?*
My theory is that AFO manipulated Tenko more than we are allowed to know up until now.
Image for the blue text:
Doc Garaki talking to Tomura:
" These are your family members' remains. "
Tumblr media
Did the police ever get there? To erase Tenko's existence just like that means that AFO had to either pretend Tenko died too or somehow he managed to erase the Shimuras altogether. What was said to Tenko and Hana's school? Or Kotaro's workplace? To the neighbors?
Were there any neighbors even? A house gets demolished at night with people screaming and no one even panics thinking that a villain can be attacking them?
Of course AFO had cops on his side. It's just a bit insane to me to think it worked out like clockwork just by accident.
Theory aside, it makes sense that the memory of his family kept Tenko anchored to his morals and the rights and wrongs of society.* He was a good kid, he wanted to be a hero to help people. He is also the type to hate injustice to the point he can't shut up about it. No matter how many times his dad punished him for following the hero ideals, he kept trying.
(I wish I could add more than 10 pics, but you should absolutely re-read My Villain Academia and pay attention to Tomura's general hesitation when it comes to hurting people— before AFO).
Like I said, there are several moments of Tenko avoiding his "destructive" side and holding the justice he knew from his childhood close to his heart.*
If what AFO says is true, then he repressed his memories in order to keep his quirk from being too aggressive towards others.* It was a defense mechanism that tells us that Tenko didn't want to hurt people, because he was fighting the urge to do so.* He was even becoming self-destructive in order to contain his urges.*
Images for the pink texts:
Panels show Tenko wondering on a street with his hands clasped together to avoid touching anything and therefore decaying it.
Tumblr media
AFO talking to Tomura:
" What is that you want to do? "
Tomura talking to AFO:
" ... The two punks that hit me earlier... I want to kill them. "
Tumblr media
AFO talking to Tomura:
" Aaah, poor child. What are you so afraid of? Just follow your heart. "
( notice that the encounter of Tenko and the two punks happens BEFORE Tenko had the hold amoral combo with AFO.
The panels show how Tenko almost reaches to decay the people who just hurt him, but he forces himself to back down, close his hand in a loose fist and leave it at that).
Tumblr media
Like you could notice in the last image, it was AFO who gave Tenko the impression that he could give in to the urge to kill and destroy because it was okay.* Previous to that moment, Tenko was full of hatred. There are several panels of Tenko saying "I hate them all " the day he got his quirk and the Shimuras died. The difference is that he only killed the Shimuras because he couldn't even control his quirk and he killed Kotaro in particular with purpose, but while he was practically blind with the rush of all that was happening.
Never before Tenko killed someone premeditated. Never before he planned it.
When AFO gave Tomura the impression that the itching was because he wanted to destroy* and it was okay to destroy to get rid of the itch*, that's when it all went to hell.
It's a dangerous thing to tell an impressionable 5 years old who just got out of an abusive home in the most traumatic fashion. Especially because Tomura's hatred got mixed with the guilt over the way he killed his family. He was convinced that the fact no hero saved him was justice for what he did. He was throwing up over it. He ran away from home, scared because he was the culprit. He was 5 years old, I must remind you all.
AFO falsely liberated Tenko from his guilt by giving him the freedom to destroy*. It was clearly not the solution because Tomura's itch would only go away temporarily after destroying whatever was annoying him.
Listen, we all want to destroy things that annoy us on a daily basis. The problem with Tenko is that
A) He is very very little.
No one explained to him that he was allowed to feel pleasure over the fact his family could not abuse him another, while he could also feel guilty because that was not the way he wanted things to end. He lost his family. No, even worse, he killed his family. Even if they hurt him, he also loved them. Those feelings can coexist within him, but he shouldn't confuse one thing with the other.
B) All kids have tantrums.
If any 5 years old was given that type of power and I promise way more incidents like that would happen. They are kids for a reason, they don't know better. It's the job of the adults around them to teach them how to tolerate things and live in society.
Laws are there for a reason too. They are meant to keep people in check. No, you cannot murder everyone because you are stuck in the morning traffic. No, you can't murder your boss because they're an asshole. You cannot erase everything that bothers you from the Earth. Why? Because it won't make you happy in the long run. We need to learn to coexist with our surroundings, annoying as it could be.
AFO did the opposite. Just look at the way he speaks to Tenko. Even working on the assumption that Tenko always wanted to kill, it was AFO's manipulation who set him on the villain path.*
Image for the purple text:
AFO talking to Tomura:
" Otherwise, you'll be the only one suffering.
Integrity. Morals. Ethics. All of them are just social constructs designed by some guy who wanted harmony in the world.
There's no need to let yourself be held back by them. In the end, what you yourself want to do is the most important of them all. "
Tumblr media
We know AFO is not the most reliable narrator and neither is Tomura, right? The bnha manga is currently on chapter 414. We're at the point where Tomura and Deku just started seeing each other's memories. Hopefully, the manga will soon clarify / reveal the truth and this meta would be obsolete.
Take this purely as a couple of people creating theories for fun, because they want to entertain themselves in hypothetical scenarios. Okay?
Time to close this endless meta post by saying I think AFO was wrong about the nature of the itch. It does come from a form of desire to destroy, but I think it's Tenko's reaction to seeing injustice and not being able to do something about it. It started at home, when he was unable to change the way his dad treated, when no one would defend him or try to stop his dad.
When Tenko killed the Shimura's, his hatred grew to everyone because he found them unfair. You could say hypocritical too. He learned to hate himself for killing his family, learned to hate the heroes saying something and doing something else, especially All Might because he is the symbol of heroism, but wasn't there to protect Tomura from all the pain. Isn't he "all mighty"? He hated Deku for the same reasons / for being a copy of All Might.
It's a twisted version of Deku running to save someone without even knowing what he's doing. an instinct none of them can deny. Where Deku's instinct was nurtured and taken care of, Tomura's was taken advantage of and corrupted almost beyond recognition.
But that's an entire meta I'll post later, so I hope you all enjoy this rambling. No idea if it makes sense, for which I apologize.
Any asks, to the inbox as always <3

For the ask game, AU where Izuku lives with the Shimurs (Kotaro, Nao, Tenko, Nana and the grandparents), please.
Thank you for so many interesting AUs! I've got seeds of ideas for all of them that I will grow over the next couple days. To start with:
This is an "Inko is Nana's daughter" AU. Nana defeated AFO during their canon battle because he tripped on a rock while monologuing. He accidentally blew himself up.
AFO crawled away to lick his wounds, then later courted Inko Shimura as part of a subtle revenge plan. He did not plan on accidentally getting Inko pregnant. He definitely didn't plan for Inko to find out, then run away and live with her brother's family.
Because Nana is alive, Kotaro does not financially control his family and definitely never lays a hand on any of them. Kotaro is still a bit of a jerk because I don't agree with him blaming Nana for all his issues in canon. However, Kotaro knows that if he ever hit a child, then Nana would make him regret it.
Izuku, Tenko, and Hana grow up like siblings. Their mom and maternal grandparents also adopt Izuku. With two overprotective older siblings, Izuku has fewer bullying issues and grows up more confident.
In the opposite of canon, Kotaro brags a lot about having a famous hero for a mother and he wants his children to become heroes. This backfires because Tenko hates the pressure and decides to become a video game designer instead. However, Hana and Izuku attend U.A.
Tenko is quirkless because I'm firmly convinced that All for One gave him Decay, and that never happened in this AU. All Might was torn between giving One for All to Tenko or Izuku, who both lacked their own quirk. He was secretly relieved when Tenko decided not to become a hero so he didn't have to choose between his nephews. Hana already has her grandmother's Float.
Izuku grew up with All Might as his adopted uncle. He's still a huge fanboy but he keeps most of his merch at home. He'd be embarrassed if his Uncle Toshinori ever saw the extent of his collection.
Tenko is a huge Eraserhead fanboy. Tenko and Izuku compete to see who can collect the most Eraserhead and All Might merch respectively.
Izuku and Shouto became childhood friends because they attended the same events with their hero relatives. All Might asked Endeavor for advice on schools because All Might is convinced that Endeavor is his friend. As a result, Izuku and Shouto attended the same elementary and middle school. Izuku noticed Shouto's family issues much sooner, with ripple effects for the entire Todoroki family.
Phew, this was such a great idea that I had way more than five headcanons!

You pull up in front of the grand entrance of the all-girls school, immediately recognizing the stately façade. Wait, isn't this Hana's school? The same one I used to go to? You glance over at Gojo, who's chuckling behind his sunglasses.
"Alright, we're here. Ready for another mission?" he asks, the corner of his mouth curling into a sly grin.
You start to nod before pausing, taking a second look at his expression. "Wait, why do I feel like there's a catch?"
Gojo removes his sunglasses and looks you dead in the eyes. "Because this isn't an observational mission for you. You're flying solo on this one, kiddo. Oh, and you'll be looking for a cursed object—a Grade-1, to be precise."
Your stomach drops. "Wait, seriously? My first solo mission is at my old school? And you waited till now to tell me?"
"Surprise," he says with that irritatingly charming smile.
You feel like a ball of tangled nerves, but then Gojo leans in. "Hey, don't worry. No cursed spirits, just an object. I'll be outside if you need me."
Taking a deep breath, you reluctantly nod. Gojo's words chip away at your anxiety, making room for a swell of determination to rise within you. "Okay, if you say so," you tell yourself.
With a deep breath, you activate one of your techniques.
"Timebound Steps: Historical Trace"**
Your eyes immediately adjust to the influx of cursed energy, turning the normal hues of the world into vibrant swirls of colors. Like stepping into an otherworldly art gallery.
As you make your way into the school building, your eyes catch the traces of past cursed activities. And it's not just any traces—these are uncomfortably familiar. A specific streak of cursed energy makes your skin crawl as you remember an incident from years ago: a slimy, perverted curse that had targeted Hana. It had latched onto her before slithering away, seemingly losing interest, and had been found later in the school's nurse's office, sliming over the nurse.
That was the day you realized the danger wasn't just out there; it was right here, lurking in the places you called 'home.'
Shaking off the memory, you focus back on the task at hand. The traces lead you to creaky steps that lead into the basement—a graveyard for forgotten textbooks and dusty trophies.
Okay, Y/N, you can do this, you affirm yourself, stepping into the dimly lit basement. You're like Indiana Jones, but with better fashion sense and no fear of snakes. As you walk down the rickety steps, the wood creaking under your weight, you take in the atmosphere—dank, musky, the scent of mildew wafting in the air.
The space is cluttered with the school's forgotten past—old lockers, abandoned art projects, obsolete textbooks and decaying sports equipment. It's an eerie underworld, a graveyard of learning and childhood ambitions. But what makes it even more unsettling are the sporadic bursts of cursed energy that you can see with your cursed technique. They're everywhere, splashes of ethereal, unsettling hues clinging to forgotten items, or floating aimlessly through the air.
You even spot a couple of small, harmless curses too, barely registering on your danger meter. One is a blob-like creature that almost looks cute—if it weren't for its too-many eyes.
As you sift through the accumulated clutter, your eyes scanning for that distinct aura that would signify the grade-1 object you're seeking, frustration starts to set in. It's like trying to find a needle in a haystack, only the needle is cursed and the haystack is also... well, cursed.
"Ugh, where is it?" you mutter under your breath, pulling out your phone to text Gojo.
Y/N: Hey, this place is swarming with traces. Can't isolate the object. Help?
Almost instantly, your phone buzzes with his reply.
Gojo: Hang tight, I'll be right down.
While waiting, you spot a faint but peculiar trail of cursed energy different from the rest, as if whispering for you to follow. Your eyes narrow, and you cautiously step toward it. There it is—the hand sculpture, concealed among a pile of dusty textbooks and misplaced gym clothes.
The hand sculpture isn't just peculiar; it's a spectacle. Intricate etchings cover its surface, ancient alphabets from diverse cultures melding into one hypnotic tapestry. Greek, Latin, Chinese, runes of sorts—all dancing together in a chaotic ballet, drawing you in deeper into their narrative.
An ominous, trance-like aura envelops you as you edge closer. Your hand floats up as if guided by an external force, fingertips tingling, almost there...
Then Gojo's voice pierces through the air, laced with an urgency you've rarely heard from him.
"Y/N, don't—"
Your eyes lock onto his just as your hand clasps around the sculpture. And then—darkness.
Total, all-encompassing darkness.
Tumblr media
As your senses flutter back, your surroundings slowly come into focus. You find yourself lying on a narrow bed in a place that's unmistakably an infirmary—pale walls, clinical scents, and that ever-present antiseptic vibe. Your head is a haze of fog and cotton balls, disoriented, like you've just stepped off a merry-go-round that was spinning a tad too fast.
Your eyes scan the room, catching sight of a familiar tuft of white hair at the end of your bed. The person's face is hidden, arms acting as a makeshift pillow. Instinctively, your body fills with a sense of relief. Ah, Gojo. Must be keeping an eye on me.
Just as you're about to break the silence with his name, the curtain that's been shielding your little section of the infirmary zips open with a swoosh. In walks a young man, and you're instantly struck by how he carries himself. It's in his posture—erect, shoulders set but not tense. He's tall, probably over six feet, filling the gaps in the room, commanding attention without even trying.
He has smooth, tan skin that gives off a warm glow, contrasting beautifully with the darker, almost obsidian color of his eyes. These are eyes that don't just look; they perceive, as if dissecting you with his gaze. His nose is sharp, complementing his regal profile, and his lips—full but not overly so—are set in a neutral line yet tinged with an enigmatic sort of smile.
His long, flowing hair is a marvel in itself, well-kept and falling fluidly, framing his face and adding another layer of complexity to his already intriguing visage. His hands, hanging loosely by his sides, are battle-hardened and sculpted, wrapped in a uniform that, while vaguely similar to the styles you know, seems—well—refreshed, like a throwback but with more vibrance.
The moment your eyes meet, the atmosphere gets charged with a strange kind of electricity. His gaze is both questioning and measured, trying to place where exactly you fit into his world. You find yourself ensnared in his look, a blend of mystery and familiarity that grips your already befuddled mind.
His eyes narrow slightly, still locked onto yours. A whirlpool of emotions floods you—curiosity, mild concern, and a tinge of...intrigue? Each physical detail of him—his choice of clothing, the way his hair falls, his intense gaze—screams layers upon layers of depth, making you wonder just how far those depths go and what secrets they might hold. Just who is this guy, and why does he feel so...significant?
"Gojo, get up and stop fooling around. We have to head back to the academy," he says, not breaking eye contact with you until the last syllable escapes his lips.
You're left pondering, your mind a jigsaw puzzle of questions and half-answers, as the white-haired figure at the end of your bed starts to stir.
"Geto, you never let me have any fun," the white-haired figure whines, pushing himself up from his arms. He stretches luxuriously, like a cat who just woke up from the world's best nap, before pivoting to face you.
And then your entire universe short-circuits. Because, yes, it's Gojo, but not the Gojo you're used to. This is Gojo unburdened by years, more boyish, his eyes glowing with a youthful vigor you hadn't noticed was missing before. It's like looking at a photograph come to life—a snapshot from a past you've never known but now find yourself thrust into.
Your heart is racing, synapses firing a million thoughts per second. You feel like you're in the middle of a crisis, both existential and immediate. It's like waking up in an episode of your favorite TV show, except this is no dream world—your instincts tell you it's far too vivid, far too real for that.
"Hey, kid. What were you doing with a grade-1 curse?" Younger Gojo finally breaks the silence, his eyes still that piercing shade of blue, studying you intently. His tone is playful but you detect an undercurrent of seriousness, leaving you with a cliffhanger feeling, like you're teetering on the edge of something both monumental and unnerving.
Your mouth opens, but words seem to be jammed in your throat. You're trying to piece together a response, something that could possibly explain what's happening, but you're at a loss. The world as you know it has been thrown into disarray, and here you are, caught in the whirlwind.
Your mental gears grind to a halt at his words, but one thing manages to stick out like a neon sign in the fog of your thoughts: "Kid?!" You shoot back, your brows knitted in a scowl. "I'm not a kid!"
Gojo gives you a look of disbelief that's so profoundly Gojo you almost feel a sense of normalcy. Almost.
"Oh, really?" He leans in, clearly amused. "And how old might you be?"
You fix him with a deadpan look. "I'm 17."
Gojo pauses, his teasing expression giving way to one of momentary contemplation. He tilts his head, as if seeing you in a new light. But it's only a beat before that devil-may-care grin returns full force.
"Oh, so we're age buddies now?" he leans in closer, and you notice something—a twinkle in his eye that wasn't there before. "Though I must say, you're pretty cute yourself."
Unbeknownst to you, he's observed that your eyes take on a certain golden sheen, a shimmer, with each fluctuating emotion. It's as if your very feelings are coloring your chrono-print eyes, imbuing them with a vivid, glowing luster.
You're gathering your wits to come up with a smart reply when Geto, looking like he's hit his limit for the day's drama, interrupts. "Are we done with the theatrics? We need to go."
Gojo glances toward him but then shoots you a playful wink. "Not quite, Geto. Our new friend is coming with us."
Geto sighs, exasperated. "You can't be serious, Goj—"
Gojo doesn't let him finish. He reaches over to you, his fingers gently guiding your face so you're looking straight at Geto. And there it is—the opal hue of your eyes now practically radiant, suffused with golden light. The atmosphere changes instantaneously, thick with tension and unanswered questions.
Geto's voice halts in his throat, his eyes going from incredulous to intensely focused as he scrutinizes your newfound radiance. You feel like a specimen under a microscope, your every secret ready to be unraveled.
There's a pause, a stillness, where even the air seems to hold its breath, waiting for the dominoes to fall. "Fine. Let's head back to the academy."
Tumblr media
As the car smoothly rolls down the road, an experienced driver at the helm, you're sat on the left of the two fascinating energies—Geto's grounded silence and Gojo's kinetic vivacity. Your eyes keep darting to Gojo, who's proving to be this ever-unfurling mystery. Today, he's less a walking enigma and more a ball of youthful exuberance. He's practically bouncing in his seat, regaling Geto with stories, jokes, and impressions that would probably be viral content if this reality knew what "viral" was.
Geto, at first glance, seems like he's not quite in the same car. He's composed, a steady rock against Gojo's whirlpool of energy. But then you catch it—the subtle quirk of his lips, the almost-there smiles, and the eye rolls that hold more affection than annoyance. These quiet reciprocations are like hushed affirmations of a friendship that's both complex and deep-rooted. It's as if each of Geto's eye rolls and monosyllabic answers are a secret language only the two of them understand.
Now, the Gojo you're witnessing is shockingly different. He's not the towering figure who could easily bend reality to his whims. No, this Gojo is...younger. Not just in appearance but in the way he laughs a little too loudly, jokes a little too freely, and lives in the irreplaceable 'now.' Your gaze locks onto the side of his head for a moment longer, wondering how many layers there are to the people you thought you knew.
As the car comes to a stop, the guards open the doors with a military efficiency that leaves no room for casualness. Gojo's eyes narrow into an uncharacteristic seriousness as you're whisked away by a different set of guards. "Where are you taking her?" His tone isn't joking or jovial—it's dead serious, an undertone of steel that you hadn't caught before.
"To a holding area. Orders from above," one of the guards replies curtly.
You can't help but throw a lingering glance over your shoulder as you're led away, catching Gojo and Geto shrinking into the distance. Gojo's eyes lock onto yours for a fleeting second, a micro-expression of concern flashing across his features before you're whisked around a corner and out of sight.
Stepping into the grand chamber, you're greeted by an imposing round table surrounded by the academy's higher-ups. The sight of them stirs a distant memory—one where you had to meet them due to the uniqueness of your eyes. You remember how they'd looked at you then, their eyes filled with a sort of predatory hunger, as if you were some rare specimen that could potentially produce powerful future sorcerers. It was a gaze that made your skin crawl.
This time, however, their eyes are different: cold, calculating, but also tinged with wariness, as if they don't quite know what to make of you. You're like a puzzle they haven't solved yet, and that, apparently, doesn't sit well with them.
You barely have time to brace yourself for the impending line of questioning. That's when the door slams open, and the atmosphere in the room shifts from simmering tension to full-blown crisis mode. The messenger who bursts in is visibly shaken, his eyes wide and frantic. Sweat clings to his brow, and his chest heaves as if he's just sprinted a marathon to deliver this news.
"Emergency! Emergency!" he gasps, trying to catch his breath. "The Plasma Cult has activated one of their Forbidden Rituals! The cursed energy levels are off the charts, and it's disrupting the barriers around key locations!"
Instantly, the room becomes a hurricane of action. Papers fly off the table, chairs are pushed back, and hurried conversations occur between hushed yet frantic voices. Scrolls are unrolled, and sigils start glowing as they discuss countermeasures. The weight of the situation is so intense that you, the mysterious intruder, are suddenly less of an immediate concern.
In this whirlwind, you're abruptly pulled aside by the same guards who brought you in. This time, they take you to a smaller, unadorned room next door, and as they shut the door behind you, you're left in the silence of your own thoughts. A series of questions tumble through your mind. What is this Plasma Cult? How do they have the power to send this place into chaos? And where does that leave you, in the grand scheme of things?
But the one question that nags at you, even as you sit there alone, is the simplest and yet the most complex of them all: What the hell is going on?
Tumblr media
Time seems to stretch indefinitely in that little room, each tick of the clock amplifying your spiraling thoughts into a cacophony of "what-ifs" and "now-whats." The room isn't exactly designed for comfort, and the blank walls give you nothing to focus on, deepening your dive into your own mental maze. But then, the door creaks open, interrupting the mental turmoil.
It's Gojo, stepping in with that signature blend of mischief and nonchalance. But as he locks eyes with you, you notice something new—a weightiness in his gaze that tempers his usual playfulness. "They treating you well in this five-star suite?" he asks, grinning in a way that almost, almost makes the situation feel normal.
But the normalcy shatters when he drops the bombshell. "We need to talk about your eyes," he says, the grin remaining but his eyes turning earnest, serious even.
Your heart skips, does a somersault, and lands in your stomach. "My eyes?" you echo, your voice tinged with apprehension and a hint of confusion. What could possibly be so important about your eyes?
Tossing aside any pretense of formality, Gojo makes himself at home, perching on the edge of the bed before stretching out his long limbs. He looks so comfortable you'd think he was in his own living room. But despite his relaxed demeanor, the gravity of the conversation isn't lost on him—or you.
"Yeah, your eyes," he leans back on his palms, capturing your gaze as if trying to read the secrets swirling in your irises. "When we stumbled upon you, you were passed out, but not alone. There was this burst of cursed energy—potent, wild—swirling around you like you were the eye of some magical storm. Initially, I just figured you were an innocent bystander, collateral damage in a rouge curse."
He pauses for a moment, his eyes narrowing as if piecing together a puzzle. "But then you woke up, and when I—playfully, of course—teased you, I saw it. Your eyes, once normal, began brimming with cursed energy. It was like watching a dormant volcano suddenly remember it can erupt."
Gojo's words hang heavy in the room, like charged particles just waiting to collide. There's an intensity in his eyes now, a focused attention that leaves no room for his usual teasing.
"Do you know what's happening?" he asks, his voice low and contemplative. "Have you ever channeled cursed energy before today?"
Your eyes dart away for a moment, your thoughts racing. The truth is, you're not exactly sure. There's a part of you that's worried, worried that divulging too much might disrupt whatever delicate balance keeps this reality from splintering. The curse that sent you here—could it have been something that tapped into your unrealized potential? Could telling Gojo unravel whatever magic—or curse—that's stitched this reality together?
Taking a deep breath, you opt for a half-truth. "I don't really know," you admit, your voice tinged with frustration. "I felt the energy earlier, like a magnetic pull, but it was more like I was unconsciously following it. After that, I don't remember anything else."
Gojo takes in your words, his gaze still locked onto yours. For a moment, you think he might press further, dig deeper into the enigma that you've become. But then, he shrugs, as if conceding to the mysteries of the universe for now.
"That's fair," he says, stretching his arms above his head and yawning, reclaiming his casual demeanor as if donning a familiar jacket. "So, any ideas on what you can do? Can you blast cursed energy out of your fingertips? See the future? Command armies of Shikigami?"
His words are light, teasing even, but you sense the undercurrent of earnest curiosity. As for you, you're really not sure. But the questions he poses make you wonder—what if? What if you can do something extraordinary?
Just as you're about to formulate a response, Gojo makes himself even more comfortable, lying back on your makeshift bed like he's ready for a Netflix binge. "Before we dive into that, though," he grins, "let me tell you something about myself. I —Gojo Satoru—happen to be the strongest Jujutsu sorcerer around—yes, even stronger than grumpy Geto."
Gojo's words seem to echo in the space between you, lingering like the aftershocks of some cosmic event. The atmosphere is pregnant with potential, both exhilarating and terrifying. For just a second, you wonder what it'd be like to share in that self-assured power he exudes, to truly understand the world of cursed energy that is so deeply entrenched in his reality—now, apparently, your reality too.
"But why am I telling you this?" Gojo suddenly asks, breaking the silence. "Because if you can see cursed energy, and better yet, have it within you, well then," he sits up, his eyes meeting yours with the intensity of a star about to go supernova, "you and I are going to have a lot of fun together."
He pauses for a moment, letting the weight of his words hang in the air. His eyes meet yours again, almost as if sizing you up. "By the way, we've been on this rollercoaster of craziness and I realize... I don't even know your last name. Formalities are boring, but sometimes necessary, don't you think?"
Caught between apprehension and the electrifying allure of the moment, you hesitate for just a second before speaking. "It's L/N," you say, nearly whispering, as if saying it too loudly could break the spell that's hung in the room.
"Oh, c'mon. We're the same age here. Doesn't that earn me a first-name basis?" He grins, taking a step closer, invading your personal space just a bit. "Besides, I think you're cute, so that's got to count for something, right?"
His words catch you off guard, causing your cheeks to heat up. The audacity of this man to flatter you so shamelessly! It's disarming, how he can be so blunt yet so captivating all at once.
Seeing your eyes fall to the ground in shyness, Gojo's eyes glint mischievously. "See? I knew you'd look even cuter when you blushed."
You roll your eyes, but the warmth in your cheeks betrays you. "You're impossible," you mutter.
"And you're adorable when you're flustered. So, do we have a deal? First names?"
You look up, catching his gaze. It's intense, like he's looking right into you, but not in a way that feels invasive. Instead, it feels like he's inviting you to let your guard down, to be on equal ground—even if just for this stolen moment in time.
Taking a deep breath, you finally give in. "Alright, Satoru. My first name is Y/N."
He blinks, clearly not expecting you to actually give in. And for the first time, you see his cheeks heat up ever so slightly. "Well, look at that," he murmurs, his voice softer than you've heard it before. "Y/N, huh? I like it. It suits you."
Before you can ask what he means by 'fun' earlier, the door bursts open once again. It's Geto, his eyes scanning the room before locking onto Gojo.
"Enough chit-chat. We've got another emergency. And you—" Geto points at you, his expression unreadable, "you're coming with us this time."
Gojo's eyes twinkle like he's just been told Christmas came early. "See? What did I tell you? Fun."
And as you rise from your seat, caught in this whirlwind of events you still don't fully understand, you can't shake the feeling that you're standing at the edge of something monumental. It's as if the universe is holding its breath, waiting to see what you'll do next. You steal a quick glance at Gojo and Geto—two figures who, despite their stark differences, seem so sure of their place in this world. For a moment, you're gripped by a pang of envy, swiftly followed by a gnawing sense of displacement.
You don't understand how you got here, what these new abilities mean, or how your life turned into this whirlwind of inexplicable events. A string of questions—each one more pressing than the last—swirls around in your mind, none offering the solace of an answer.
But despite the confusion, the uncertainty, and the surrealism of it all, there's a tiny seed of resolve that plants itself deep within you. You don't know how you ended up in this situation, but you're determined to see it through, to understand this world of curses and magic, if only to find your way back... to whatever 'back' means now.
And as the door shuts behind you, sealing off what little familiarity you had, you make a quiet promise to yourself: you'll navigate this labyrinth, confront its monsters, its mysteries, and find a way back—wherever and whatever that may be.
