I make playlists for EVERYTHING, so naturally I have one for every WIP and every potential WIP. Here are 5 songs that have been on heavy rotation lately that specifically relate to Haladriel/Saurondriel projects. This got really verbose... I just really love talking about music!

If you follow me on the bird app (if you don't you can @ cozy_ships) you might have seen me post some prompt fills related to a story I'm working on for Haladriel Week. It's a Prairie Gothic AU with a Tevildo as Black Phillip thing going on. Oh and there's a sexy farmhand Halbrand. The working title is Meet Me at the Edge, which is a lyric taken from "The Beast" by Delta Rae.

"Meet me at the edge, I ain't afraid, Lord I've already fallen, See the beast sitting on the ridge, No time to waste, Let him know that we're coming."

The Venus of Valinor is my main WIP right now. It's a multi-chap art heist AU with a lot of screwball comedy that was inspired by the film How to Steal a Million (1966) with Audrey Hepburn and Peter O'Toole. It's hard to pick one song for it because there are so many that vibe with Hal and Gal's moods at various points in the story, but "Secret Heart" by Feist feels very on the nose overall. Both our leads have lots of secrets. And it's a song that I never tire of.

Mirah is one of my all-time favorite musicians, and "Gold Rush" is probably my favorite song by her (the name of my tumblr comes from this song). It also gives me major Haladriel vibes. It's on all my fic playlists.

"Oh love when I get lonesome, I'm gonna call you up into my world, When waters rise up I do my best, To keep my home floating upon your chest."

This is one of the most Haladriel coded songs in my rotation. Also one that's always been deeply personal to me, even pre-TROP. It figures prominently in the playlist for a Western AU I've been working on for a while (I've shared a few snippets of this one via prompt fills on the bird app as well). Not sure when this one will make an appearance, maybe Haladriel Week, but this one is a heavier lift for me, so no promises.

The first thing I started writing was/is a Music AU. It’s heavily rooted in the late 1980s/early-mid-1990s punk & grunge scenes, as well as being loosely inspired by the film Whiplash (2014). The whole thing started from the idea of Finrod & Sauron’s epic song battle reframed as two kids from rival grunge bands, and Sauron somehow being responsible for Fin od’ing (think Finrod as Kurt Cobain). There’s also a whole thing with flashbacks where first Mairon, and then a young Galadriel were drumming students of the brilliant but unforgiving Aulë, and then in the future-present Sauron’s trying to live a quiet non-musical life but then music exec Galadriel “discovers” him and drags him kicking & screaming back into the life. I’ve got a little written, but have no idea if it’ll ever see the light of day, although I seem to have outlined it here so… 🤷🏻‍♀️

Siouxsie & the Banshees are a little earlier than the time period this fic is inspired by, but they’re influential to a lot of the other acts that are prominent in it, and I see them as being one of Galadriel’s faves in the story (also one of my faves). And the drumming on “Into the Light” is 🔥🔥🔥.

32. Favorite Merlin fic you've read in recent memory?

Alright, I have two I read recently that I absolutely loved from start to finish. They're both Modern AUs but the character interactions are so on point and they made me smile all the way through :)

37. Random plot idea you think would have been funny for an episode?

I really think it would be fun if they had a musical episode XD But seriously, it would totally fit the overall vibe and sense of humor of the show. Just imagine…one day someone casts a singing curse in Camelot and Merlin has to figure out what's happening (as he's the only one who isn't affected because of his magic). And the best part is he wouldn't even notice it until one morning when he's tending to Arthur and he suddenly starts singing his heart out about how tough it is to be prince and how everyone always expects so much of him or about his secret feelings for Gwen or Merlin... Anyway, it's just a silly idea but that would be so fun to watch (plus, we would get to hear Bradley and Colin sing together again <3)

Zach walks by in a full motorcycle suit, black leather with red accents, his helmet under his arm. He winks at Violet who stands wearing her cousin Paige’s riding gear and holding Paige’s helmet.

His gear looks something like this.

Zach: *cups Violet’s chin between his thumb and index finger before walking to a motorcycle,* “Are ya coming?”

Violet: *stuttering, feeling her legs turning to jelly,* “Y-yes…”

Zach smirks, nods, and walks to the motorcycle.

Violet’s cousin Paige sneaks up beside her, Paige: “What’s wrong with you? You look like you’re gonna pass out or something…”

Violet: “It’s him…He’s driving me crazy….”

Paige: “Why’s that?”

Violet: “Just look at him…”

Paige: *both eyeing Zach’s back as he gets on the motorcycle* “What about him?”

Violet: “Don’t act like you don’t know….you liked him first…”

Paige:*snickering* “Ohhh, is it his body language? Haha…Yeah he’s pretty attractive…”

Violet: *swallowing nervously as Zach looks back at her expectantly* “No…It’s not just that…”

Paige: “But that’s not helping?”

Violet: *blushing* “No….no, it’s not…”

🎸 - a popular song your muse likes! A) "Queen of Mean/What's my Name Mashup" by Sarah Jeffrey, China Ann McClain, & Thomas Doherty - This song inspired one of my most treasured Modern!Brotherhood one-shot ideas (altho I admit I'm not sure how popular it is, lol). Adira's attempt to connect with her toxic mother results in cruel belittlement and rejection, centered on her unorthodox career and taste in friends. Driving home on a late-night roadtrip with Hector, she decides to be vulnerable about how devastated she is by the realization that her own mother has no intention of ever accepting Adira as she is. Hector, half sympathetic and half enraged, endeavors to comfort her by humorous (yet earnest) musical means. He puts on one of their favorite childhood songs, singing and dancing to the best of his ability while buckled into his seat, and encouraging Adira to join. Eventually she does so as a manifestation of freeing herself from the painful longing for her mother's love and approval. Tldr: Hector and Adira switch roles for once, resulting in an epic bonding moment amidst musical road shenanigans.

📻 - a song that creates a scene in your head for your muse that you can't stop thinking of! A) "Destiny" by Skillet - This song is for a future chapter of Incarnate that I CANNOT stop working on/prepping/designing in my head. 🤣 The theme/message of the song ties into the themes in TTS canon, and also applies to multiple character arcs that I'll be exploring in my fanfic. The choreography, music, singing, and symbolism in my head is so EPIC and PROFOUND and I can't WAIT for the day that I get to share my vision with you all!!! 🤩🤩🤩
