ACOTAR Rant
The way that Rhysand's actions could be so easily justified if SJM has just written down that Amarantha was tormenting Feyre in the dungeon. Like, then Rhys does need to get her out. If SJM had written Amarantha being jealous of Rhys, then Rhys needs some way to get Feyre out without looking suspicious. If she had written AMARANTHA being the one to suggest the clothing or telling Rhys to get Feyre to 'put on a show' THEN Rhysand has no fault because it wasn't his choice either.
But SJM didn't, this was the first book, the book where Tamlin and Feyre were set up to be endgame and it is so, so fucking obvious, because even Rhysand's reasoning later doesn't really at all justify what he did.
Amarantha didn't give two flying fucks about Feyre, just dumped her in a cell and made her do chores, she forgot Feyre was even there and was like wtf when Rhysand OUT OF HIS OWN CHOICE drugged and assaulted Feyre.
It is so obvious that Feysand wasn't planned to be endgame at this point, that SJM and her editors didn't properly look at these things. It would not affect the budding relationship of Feysand, it would actually bring them a little closer together.
If Amarantha had been utilized as the villain in a more thorough way, Rhysand would be relatively blameless, but as it is, he is the instigator, and the one who abused Feyre in horrific ways that permanently traumatized her.

I think probably the saddest thing about Feyre is that she genuinely has no friends of her own. Her "friend group" was loyal to her husband hundreds of years before she was born and have proven more than once that they still defer to him over her. The one friend she might have had (Lucien) has been completely estranged from her. I've said it before and I'll say it again, the Feyre in ACOSF is living ACOTAR Feyre's worst nightmare.

I hate how Rhysand and the IC suffered no consequences and didn't even have the decency to apologise for withholding such important information from Nesta but Nesta was the one who had to be punished for coming clean to her sister in an attempt to avenge them both (canon). She didn't mince her words while saying how they didn't respect her as the HL and this fact was just never paid any heed in the entire book thereafter ...? Questionable.
She even apologised! (Though there was nothing wrong with what she said but Feyre should have been relayed this info more...gently?)
Never heard Rhysand apologise to her or Feyre.
This MF book gets on my nerves istg
Oh, pookie, I feel you.
SJM's favoritism toward Rhysand is murdering his character. She wants us to believe that he is so good and kind and open-minded and better than everyone because he is just so misunderstood, and then does... This?
Should have Nesta found a more appropriate way to break the news to Feyre? Sure, no one can argue with that. Oh wait, I can, because it shouldn't have been Nesta in the first place. It should have been Rhysand, you know, her mate and husband, or better yet! It should've been Madja!! The very first person who must've realized such a thing would more likely happen since she's their personal healer, but willingly chose to withhold that information from the High Lady mother to later share it in private with Rhysand. Ew. How she still has her job is beyond me. She should have her licence revoked, or whatever. But I digress.
It's not just the act in and of itself (of Nesta telling Feyre), but also everything around it, leading to it. Madja, as I said above, but also the rest of the IC. I'm sorry but, what the fuck? Isn't she supposed to be their friend, too? Their sister? She's their High Lady, for fuck's sake. HIGH LADY!! EQUAL IN EVERY DAMN WAY TO RHYS! And then some, because Rhysand could only wish he was more like Feyre.
And then they had the audacity to punish Nesta for it? For doing what they should've done a long time before? Are we insane?
Feyre didn't even stay mad at Rhys for a full night, but Nesta had to go through that Hike from Hell for a week straight? And Sarah really tried to make it look like that was a long-time-coming thing? Like we, as readers, would see it as a "close the circle" moment, The Healing Of Nesta Archeron? Fuck you, Sarah.
It's been a while now since I started to make a very specific distinction between the Hike scene and the Lake scene.
The lake, when she broke down and cried out 25 years worth of pain and regret? Good, we liked it, it was fifty shades of sad. Closing an eye on the weird beginning of Cassian's monologue being like "I won't tell you how I did x, y and z, but actually I will", but overall it was A Moment.
The hike, on the other hand? Yeah. Not a fucking chance.
Then again, SJM has this weird view of sex, so I can bet Rhys got a good lick between Feyre's legs, maybe fucked her real nice, and that counted as an apology for withholding vital information about the pregnancy from the, you know, pregnant woman. Disgusting.

I HAVE TO RANT.
The only series of SJM I can ever read is TOG (Throne of Glass) and that's it.
That is the only one of her series that has the best worldbuilding, plot twists, romance and characters.
ACOTAR RUINED fantasy novels for me and not even in a good way.
I mean, in a bad way, that I can't pick up a fantasy novel anymore, in fear that it'll be like ACOTAR.
Yes, I used to be a sweet summer child who thought ACOTAR was amazing, Rhysand was so romantic and Tamlin was a tool.
I was the tool.
I'm now in college and I read ACOTAR & ACOMAF & ACOWAR last year.
I stopped after ACOWAR because NEVER FUCKING AGAIN WILL YOU CATCH ME READ THAT SERIES.
I can't even begin with the non-existent lines between misogyny and romance and hypocrisy and the lack of actual world-building and how I NEED to drag the Archeron Sisters FAR FAR AWAY, YES ALL THREE OF THEM.

Oh yeah. A 14 y/o girl who decided to hunt has indeed been through much worse than her being forced to be kissed, touched and drunk by a man. Her hunting it's so much worse than her being forced to dress in a way that made her very uncomfortable and to dance on the crotch of a man until she threw up.

Thinking about Feyre. Young, happy, beautiful, and CHILDFREE. Thinking about the universe in which Nyx doesn't exist and Feyre never had to worry about dying in childbirth. Thinking about the universe where she got to enjoy her immortality for centuries before choosing to have children and where she had the safe, stress-free pregnancy she deserved. Thinking about the universe where she never got married to Rhysand in the first place.

always insane to me how everyone is jumping to blame Nesta for her families poverty instead of their father?????? this happens the entire series and then when Papa Archeron shows up last minute for the finale battle everyone is just like “🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹” expect* for Nesta who can only remember how he actually never really cared for her and how she is the one who holds his mantel for not doing anything/providing for them. its okay though he gets a pass bc his knee! its shattered, expect it was miraculously healing before his sudden death! but that’s okay Nesta suffers and becomes violently depressed/traumatized by his death in which no one helps her progress through! it takes Cassian the entire book to finally realize the fire sounds like a snapping neck and that’s why she flinches around it. but he sure noticed her huge boobs on her sickly thin body!! absolute himbo frat boy chad of a man. guys on a serious note when are we going to stop holding Nesta accountable for their father’s actions? im getting sick of having this discussion.
also i find it hilarious Cassian sticks up for Feyre here when he literally does not care about her, if he did he would’ve done the same when Rhys told him to keep the wings secret. just like if he truly cared about Nesta he’d stick up for her, too. instead he insults her and sets himself up to look like a fool all in one go.

Who would chose Nesta?
Cassian doesn't deserve Nesta. Fight me on this. Nesta would risk life and limb and death all over again for him. She'd face her trauma, climb mountains (regardless of how ethical it may be), and put her pride aside for him.
She would face her traumas and search for the cauldron for Elain and Feyre. For the court they love. She gave up her powers for Feyre and Nyx. She fought a war for Feyre. She faced Braylin, and found the trove so Nyx wouldn't grow up in a war-torn world.
Yet not a single Character would put her first, the way she puts them first. They didn't even try to accommodate her trauma by finding an alternative for baths, despite her telling them the issue and them promising to help.
Not one would love her unconditionally the way she loves them, or sacrifice for her, what she'd sacrifice for them.

Acotar Rant
If I see another take saying "What Rhysand did to Feyre utm was for her protection!!!" I am going to riot.
What protection? Sweetheart, point me in the direction of the protection.
"It was so she wouldn't break" Oh so sitting in a dungeon is more traumatic than being drugged and SAed?
"It was so Amarantha wouldn't hurt her!" Rhysand bringing Feyre out only brought Amarantha's attention to her, reminding her of Feyre's existence and putting her in the spotlight of the enemy.
"The drugging stopped Feyre from being forced to remember!" So give her alcohol in the dungeon, then she can choose to drink it and still forget.
Rhysand made Feyre give him lap dances until she threw up. Until. She. Vomited. Then forced her to do it again and again. She was coherent here enough that she remembers all of this.
"Oh it was so he could make Tamlin angry enough!" Tamlin was angry. He was scared shitless for Feyre's safety as pointed out in the text. Multiple times in the first few pages of Feyre seeing him again for the first time utm, he 'went very very still', 'went white', started shaking etc etc.
Tamlin was playing a mask. Feyre acknowledged it. She said herself "he loves me enough that even now he is still trying to protect me."
Tamlin was going to kill Amarantha the first chance he got anyway. He was under spells that even Rhysand couldn't penetrate, the supposed 'most powerful High lord'. If the one who is supposed to be the strongest can't break free from Amarantha what makes you think Tamlin can?
Rhysand abused Feyre under the mountain. He sexually assaulted her, physically assaulted her, emotionally traumatized her, for literally no reason at all.
So before everyone goes and runs with what Rhysand SAID he did, lets go back and remember what he ACTUALLY did.

A Court of Silver Flames: “Cassian looked over a shoulder, to where Nesta had been asleep for the past few hours, curled into a tight ball against the wall of rock. I think we'll stay out here for a few days. We're going to hike.
Nesta has never been on a hike in her life. I guarantee she will hate it.” (Feyre’s response)
A Court of Thorns and Roses: "My hands slackened at my sides. "You went after me," I said. "You went after me- to Prythian."
"I got to the wall. I couldn't find a way through."
I raised a shaking hand to my throat. "You trekked two days there and two days back-through the winter woods?"
Hey guys? Guys? THIS is why it’s important to have a team who will actually check you when you make a mistake. This makes Feyre, the main character of the series that Sarah wants people to like, look absolutely awful.

It was absolutely criminal of SJM to throw at us the friendship where Lucien was willing to be tortured and die rather than give away the name of Tamlin’s gf, where Tamlin begged for Lucien’s life and was forced to administer his punishment, where as soon as Lucien was able to walk after said punishment, walked back to help Feyre despite the excruciating pain he must be in, where Tamlin risked the lives of everyone in Prythian just to keep Feyre safe, and then THROW IT AWAY IN FAVOR OF SOME INSERTS WHO ARE RHYSAND’S DOGS??? I MISS THEM. SO BAD. Tamlin+Lucien+Feyre had my whole heart and Sjm just…broke it.

Remember when Rhysand learned that the baby had wings and that childbirth would kill Feyre and rather than let her know EVERYTHING about her health and her body and her pregnancy he just had her told that it was high risk, so without the knowledge to make a complete informed choice early on when medical intervention could have easily and safely terminated the pregnancy to prevent Feyre from dying, Feyre chose to continue the pregnancy, learned about the true danger when it was far too late for any medical intervention to guarantee her safety, and almost died in childbirth all because Rhysand didn't give her all the information necessary to make an informed choice about what was best for her health early on when it was safe and easy for her to do so?
