How would the dead react to certain cases after their death? For an example of what I mean. How would Peter react to Brian trying to kill himself but accidentally killing Fluttershy in the processes? Would his anger at Brian take center stage or would the heartbreak of knowing that his best friend is about to die take center stage? Would he interfere with the execution in someway or would he be too heartbroken to even do anything?
I don't know if you mean if they were still alive or as ghosts, because I'm not sure if they could interfere with executions as ghosts, but I'm going to assume it's a theoretical "this is what they would've wanted to do watching the case as a being not quite there" (lol).
As for your first example, I think Peter's friendship for Brian would overtake any judgement of his 'bad' actions. I don't think Peter ever canonically knew about Brian's depressive struggles, but it would upset him a lot to know his best pal felt so dire about his own life. Brian did a lot for him and seeing him about to be executed really made him reflect on how grateful he really was, and how much he didn't want to see him die. Yes I just wrote something semi-heartwarming about Peter Griffin but it's on par with early season Family Guy.
As for some other cases, I'll talk about the most significant ones to certain characters.
Dedede -> (DR69) case 2: Now this is right after his death for his own case, but I'd like to think he'd have mixed feelings at first for The Conductor being the prime suspect for the first part of the trial. He knew he wasn't his killer, so it did peeve him how he was being wrongfully accused. After hearing that Ashley would've killed either bird in the end, Dedede was pretty shocked that The Conductor could've died in his place if he wasn't so busy at the time. He harbors some salt for sure, but it's not like he ever wanted the other to die, so, he's happy he survived in the end.
Walter -> (DR96) case 4: "Jesse don't get drunk and kill the horse Jesse". Walter wouldn't exactly approve of Jesse and Bojack's friendship, seeing how terrible of an influence he was on him. He found what Jesse did (bottle smash) reckless and stupid, but the way he handled the 'clean-up' (blackout and escape), well, he had to admit it was very Jesse of him to use his quick-wits in the agency of the situation. He was glad Jesse wasn't the true killer in the end, and relieved that he and Bojack talked it out in the trial as maturely as he's ever seen them (yes he's happy that one person he spilled about their 'ventures' is dead there can be no witnesses).
Hiroshi -> (DR96) case 2: I think Hiroshi would feel a bit guilty in terms of Kaidou's actions. His own murder had a negative effect on Kaidou going forth, and he believes that's what pushed him into trying to become the leader of the group and shouldering so much responsibility. Hiroshi did like Kaidou, despite his strange nature, so it was hard to watch him get executed.
Retsuko -> (DR96) case 4: While Walter was more focused on Jesse, Retsuko was more concerned with Bojack. She didn't realise how much her words had an influence on Bojack to try and reconcile his and Jesse's friendship after their squabbles after the first trial. She's happy Bojack didn't go 'lone wolf' after her own death, but clearly his relationship with Jesse was rocky often, and it was good to her that he opened up about it despite how he'd usually push his problems aside. She did find it a bit scummy how he'd played dead because it really affected Jesse, but was glad they could make up before his execution.
Yuri & Ena-> (DR96 case 3): This is a two for one special. Yuri hoped Natsuki would come out of the trial alive no matter what. Despite everything, she was distraught to see Natsuki in distress halfway through the trial. Ena got all emotional and sobby when Natsuki confessed her murder in tears, because seeing their new bestie all upset is no good!! no good at all!! Both are content to know she lived past it.

okay watched ep 2 of fhjy and as anyone might imagine I've got thoughts. under the cut.
lots of fun things this episode! haven't watched the AP yet btw. i'm mostly writing these down myself so I'll go character-by-character, but some overall stuff about the episode:
whatever episode one was doing really paid off here. by itself, the full episode of battle, apart from being excited by all the new intros, was a bit frustrating especially since I wasn't sure how they were actually going to be able to reel the night yorb in, but they did it in this one! with lots of time left over for other stuff.
and with both episodes out, (as i suspected) that really frustrating feeling from episode 1 carries a lot more meaning--brennan making everyone fight those minions was perfect icing on the cake. as well as all those personal troubles at the end. but that gets into character stuff, so:
riz:
riz gukgak is one of my favorite characters in the universe. when i watched fhsy baron happened and i obsessively took notes the whole season bc i was like. riz is aroace and i can prove it. as you can imagine i nearly died when my green heaven released
anyways, pretty much everything riz has done has been so, so, on brand for what I'd think he'd do, so that's great--i feel like I haven't gone wrong in understanding him, which is cool
one of the big things that seems like we'll be getting this season is riz's attachment to his friends, by which i mean he feels like he can't hang out with them unless there's a job to be done. he's got this bit in the boys' night extra where riz says "it's usually like we kind of have this whole group dynamic where all of us come together and we solve these problems together. and when I don’t have a problem to solve, I don’t know what to do with myself." which is pretty much exactly what's going on here. as brennan phrases it, riz has basically just told his mother "I have a pretty a hard time connecting to my dearest friends whose lives I've saved many times unless there's a problem, so I can feel useful."
and this like... deep sense of anxiety around being alone, that's kind of a really deep part of riz's character, right? penny luckstone was his babysitter--closest thing he had to a friend. riz cares a lot about the case, but he probably also cared about the only connection he really had. and now the bad kids are his connections. he wants to be with them, like, forever, and half of his worries about all those romantic entanglements is that everyone is going to prioritize themselves and their romantic partners above him, and since he doesn't... want that kind of thing, where does that leave him? alone? forever? with no place to belong? he's already one of the only goblins we ever see in the whole time we've been in the land of spyre.
and I think what's really heartbreaking about this, at least to me, is that riz so clearly and obviously loves and adores his friends. he doesn't have a problem expressing his love! and I don't think he really even doubts that his friends love him, too. it's just that. i don't think he can deal with the possibility of being without them. and he doesn't know if the fact that they like each other is enough to keep them together. but hey, world-saving does.
sklonda was so good this episode, too. was particularly affected by when she told riz "you do everything for other people, and I want to make sure that you don't get your heart broken" because it's just... yeah. also that's such a real struggle money-wise with college in particular... I really kind of hoped we could maybe help sklonda out with her case, but, it is her job, after all. see where riz gets his board from haha. but seriously, she's just... such a good mother. every time the gukgaks interact it's so warm to me because riz and sklonda just... so obviously care for each other, so carefully. like. not a single bit of resentment or frustration coming from riz once sklonda tells him he might need some to put some extra pressure on himself, and it's partially being fine with pressure, partially not acknowledging his problems, and partially that he's just a good kid and knows his mother's doing the best for him. so he'll do that for her, too.
who bets that riz will not talk about any sad feelings in front of his friends this season!!! anyways that was so goddamned long, because I'm crazy about riz. the rest will be way quicker
anyways no one except ME is reading this. haha.
fig:
so, I'm fully convinced that gilear and fig swapped lucks. the sour, curdling feeling? very gilear yogurt. also the kicker was icing on her shirt. real yogurt moment there. and with all these kisses of fortune gilear's getting, I'm convinced that's what's happened for fig. very interested to see how that messes with her coolness
I'm also really interested in fig actually taking bard classes. i do have to wonder how it might go... I know emily like, does music, so I wonder if any of her knowledge there might come in handy
also very interested in seeing how any of the aguefort quangle stuff is gonna mess with things this season! even the little bit of ayda we saw was so good.
kristen:
so, like, obviously, cassandra's not doing so hot, because they've only got two followers. i think it's really interesting how non-pressuring they are towards kristen because like. for all the pestering they don't actually seem to outright mention that they aren't doing so great
also kristen seems in a pretty bad place this semester, but I'm hoping that the stark reality of expulsion is actually going to make her think about like, getting her life together. i'm really interested to see where it'll go because like. i dunno. i'm not much of an evangelizer myself.
more than tracker being away, it must sting additionally that like, apart from being in a possible breaking up state, tracker, right now, is being the like, perfect cleric. like she is reforming and adding nuance to her faith and stuff in a really really big way!! which is the kind of achievements kristen should be doing. but you know. they're world saving and things are... they're pretty tiring. (must've been nice talking about the moon goddess during eternal night, i bet)
ragh is also back and i'm so glad bc i love ragh. also 100% that red crystal lydia barkrock's been dealing with is gonna be relevant. i really hope that he has somewhat of a presence this season because like, he was around in fhsy, but ragh's like... idk, he's cool, and I feel like he's rich enough in character that he's got places to go?
adaine:
loved the little aelwyn mention. that nemesis abjuration is such a deeply aelwyn way of looking out for her sister
i am really excited to see adaine trying to get a job, personally. and i do hope we get to see more of zayn darkshadow bc he's just a really chill and nice minor npc in my opinion
fabian:
i love fabian's parents as equally as i hate them, and this scene exemplified it. they like... give him things, and look after him, but they're not really... supportive, are they? in an emotional way. no time to talk, and he's 18 now, so they're totally fine leaving him alone for months. they can be the cool parents that let him throw awesome parties. and hallariel saying it's a great thing to be his father's son... I don't know, bill seacaster's like, kind of a shithead?
so that'll be interesting. and he wanted to go to dance camp...! i hope he really does get to explore that passion more during the school year. truthfully i have to wonder how his grades are... riz and adaine are doing great, fig and kristen are doing terribly, gorgug is probably not the greatest considering his rage, but fabian? I'd be interested in knowing what's up with that
also they don't directly answer whether they're taking all the staff iirc, but judging by how hallariel mentions that food is just set up with an account, it may be that he can't even like, talk to cathilda or anything. which sucks!! it really does suck.
gorgug:
in some ways, zelda and gorgug breaking up was a little anticipated. still, it does suck. but it's not like he really had the time for anything
i wonder how this interacts with the timeline of the seven: that's in her junior year and sam seems to still refer to gorgug as zelda's boyfriend, and stuff, so I wonder if it's a retcon or I've got the timeline wrong or that I haven't quite finished actually watching the seven. anything could be fine--personally I think gorgug and zelda work really well as solo characters, so like, who knows
edit: in the AP brennan said zelda graduated so the events of the seven have likely already happened... that does bring up the question of why things dont line up but like. i can handwave time shenanigans in my head. especially with the quangle.
could be kinda fun if gorgug and ragh bonded a bit more this season.
thistlesprings are great parents, of course. love that they offered to fix the hangvan, or work on it together, and I'm really hoping their supportive energy is gonna help gorgug out this year. i have to wonder if there's gonna be any strangeness with gorgug meeting any of the thistlespring extended family, now that they're hosting this festival
speaking of this festival, it's the same one that sklonda's working a case related to!! i want to get my claws into this mystery so bad
ok that's about everything. gonna watch the AP now! my final thoughts... it's so frustrating that these bad kids have saved the world multiple times over and done so many things, and it's not like... enough, not even close. but that's a very real thing I felt during junior year of high school and that I'm sure many people felt--that I'd spent all this time developing myself as a person and becoming better and doing some pretty interesting stuff, in my opinion, but when I put it all out on like a resume or a college application or whatever, it looked like nothing. even though it was absolutely meaningful and important, it was nothing.

This moment is just so heartbreaking, not simply because she is getting arrested, it is so much more. I have thought about this since the first time I watched this and I am finally writing about this. So far she has lied to Mike about having a great time in Lenora in all these months. She has made Mike believe that she is doing great, in her life and in her studies (she says she is best at Maths, but we see what happens soon after that), about having made friends, and adapting to the new place. Her insecurities that make her lie come from the same place as Mike in Season 1 when he lies to her about falling at recess and hurting his chin, when it was really done by Troy. Because he did not want to embarrass himself in front of this girl he has started developing some feelings for. Like he says, he did not want her to think that he was 'such a wastoid'. It is the same for her. So after creating this false image of a happy life to Mike, and to some extent even to herself so that she feels less gulity about lying and less lonely, she tried to handle the entire situation when he comes to see her. But things start going wrong one after the other as soon as he is there. She gets humiliated in front of people and Mike by the bullies (the people she told him were her friends), she attacks Angela and further embarrasses herself and gets herself into trouble along with dealing with a half-forgotten trauma that is buried so deep in her mind, that makes her think she is a monster. This also leads to her questioning Mike's feelings for her, that maybe because he is probably so upset by what she has done, he has already decided to stop loving her. This further gets fuelled by the fact that Mike has never said it verbally directly to her. She also gets really hit by the reality when Will points it out clearly to her that she is, in fact, lying to Mike, which she shouldn't. When Mike comes to confront her finally, it is not just the pain of not fitting in, but also embarrassing herself to such an extent where she does not believe herself to be worthy of love anymore. But then, the police arrives, and arrests her, like it was already not bad enough. At this point she is just unable to process it and has given up on literally everything. She just looks at him, not knowing what to say, rather than just accepting her fate, and the reality that all her efforts to make him believe that she is living a great life has just become futile.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
In this scene when Mike asks her to look at him (WHICH IS LITERALLY THE MOST UNDERRATED MILEVEN SCENE), she just stares at him blankly, as if she cannot even recognize him, simply because she is just unable to process the disaster she is going through which she could not imagine till yesterday, which leaves her numb. She does not say a word, just looks at him once and then looks away, looking absolutely helpless.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Later, this becomes clear how embarrassed she was by this whole situation after she had processed it a little. It is the moment when Mike runs behind the police van and she looks at him standing there as she is being taken away to be kept in the juvenile hall, and just tears up realizing everything that happened and where it places her in his life. Or her family's.
It makes me want to sob.

⚠️ Total Drama Reboot Season 2 Spoilers ⚠️
I didn't mention this before, but the team names feel so uninspired. Even last season's team names felt more Total Drama-esque. These names are just... insults. It annoys me.
Episode 2
Caleb x Priya... I don't really like Caleb, so I'm not really into it. But it's amusing that every chance Priya gets to ogle him, Millie comes to interrupt her. Caleb is supposed to be the hottest guy on the island, but Millie is in no way interested.
Holy fucking shit. Ripaxel? The last pairing I was expecting to be honest, and I am actually unreasonably excited to see it. Kinda surprised he wasn't into Axel smashing his face with slop, though maybe he can read people well?
I'm really glad most of Ripper's teammates are trying to help him. Y'know, despite him and Axel being on different teams. Am I smelling Ripper with friends?
Julia working her ass off to not be voted out. It's just going to end in heartbreak at this point, no matter when they vote her off.
Emma, using Chase's weaknesses against him, makes her so much more entertaining to watch. I wonder if Chase will do the same thing to her at some point.
I didn't notice Nichelle's hair was tied in the back until now. Well, time to add that to the mental reference.
Zee kinda just being there and enjoying himself is just so Zee of him, lol
I love Damien and his stupid ways of getting around problems. Still one of my favorite characters, and I doubt that anything will change that.
I wonder if Wayne is going to make enemies this time. He laughed at Julia because she made a goofy noise when she hit the hoop, and no one laughed with him, not even Raj.
Buttered Ripper is disgustingly disturbing.
Ripper humiliating himself is what gets Axel's attention? Hm...
Millie ruined her relationships on her team in one foul swoop. Poor Damien honestly, because that is traumatizing. I think Millie's heart was kind of in the right place, but that was horrible.
Thank GOD Chase was voted off. I can not stand him. He adds nothing to the challenges, especially this one, and he's a massive jackass. This is painful, but I'm kind of rooting for Ripper to hang in there another couple episodes.
Episode 3
Using a character to disguise themselves as an intern is a really interesting idea. But they should have given MK a better disguise. It's very clearly just MK with a mustache. They could've at least given her a different hat and a different hairstyle.
Ripper, being a dumbass is not going to help you win over any ladies.
Raj and Wayne struggling with the concept of cheating his great. It makes a lot of sense, too.
Bowie realizing just how stupid his boyfriend and his boyfriend's friend are. Love is love. I know he's having a hard time convincing himself that Raj is someone he wants to be with for a long time, but you can tell how bad he feels for making him do something he didn't want to do.
Zee is such a dumbass.
Oh my god, they REALLY like using dodgeballs this season.
Damien knew Chris hated them all last season. Like, why is he surprised season. He's so fucking dumb, though, and adorable.
Zee getting a pet raccoon. Please let him keep it.
MKulia... it's so good this episode. They try to kill the other team, and they're flirting.
Nichelle with candy all over her. Someone needs to draw that.
I'm gonna agree with Bowie here; it's a bunch of bullshit that the numbers count. It should've had to do with how much of the team had gotten there.
Episode 4
I'm glad they kept the consequences from last episode. It's good that Raj is still upset, and I'm glad that he's a little mad at Bowie when he asked him not to cheat anymore, and Bowie immediately encouraged MK to cheat more.
I have a feeling that Raj and Wayne are gonna kick themselves off again because of the cheating. They're competitive, but they want to win fair and square.
Bowie should be more prepared to fight harder than to cheat, so I wonder how many of his crowns were because he cheated.
They fixed Priya's blush. I wonder if it was because they wanted to color it more correctly this time, or if it was because she just isn't blushing as much as she was last season.
Damn, how many noses has Axel broken to expertly refigure them?
The glass panels remind me of the clips I saw of Squid Games.
Both Bowie and Wayne calling after Raj fell...
Where's Zee's raccoon :(
Bowie's reaction on the screen made it pretty evident the answer was A, Emma.
Damn, nobody knows anyone this season...
JULIA, your gay is showing.
Zee, that's disgusting.
That finger on the chin... Axel, I know you're threatening Emma, but COME ON. (Like, remember when Bowuigi shot up in popularity because of the Mario Movie trailers for the same thing?)
Ripper can read people really well, huh? Caleb, too.
Axel burning the hell out of Emma. Verbally beat the shit out of her, girl.
Emma's gonna get herself voted off... or maybe Priya...
Ripper taking his shot with the poetry for Axel.
Raj... I'm so sorry...
Bowie with the Michael Jackson moves, lol
Emma, she knew it was B... I guess it's time to vote off Priya... maybe...
Raj hugging Bowie, thinking he wasn't cheating and was just that good at reading people. Ugh, they're gonna break up this season, aren't they?
YEAH RIPAXEL
Okay, I'll make more notes when the next episode comes out. I honestly wish Damiya was the Priya ship, but whatever.

Shifiting Perspectives
5 times Hawkins witnesses Steve be a giant mom to a gaggle of kids, who should be so much further down on the social ladder from King Steve. (Takes place between season 2 & 3).
On AO3.
Ships: none
Warnings: none
~~~~~~~~~~
Steve has become a mom. He knows that he has become a mom, even if he doesn’t want to admit it to himself. However, there are moments where he can’t deny he would look at home between the PTA mom’s he sees in the grocery store.
Still, to most of Hawkins, he is still King Steve. A giant douche, who plays with girls’ hearts and throws loud parties, despite the fact he hasn’t been that guy in a long time.
However, the more he goes out, helping the kids, the more Hawkins sees this other side of Steve, the mom side.
1.
Betty has been neighbors with the Harringtons for nearly twenty years now. She remembers when Steve, their little boy, was crawling around the lawn, just learning to walk, she saw him fall of his bike and watched as the cars in the driveway become less and less common as noise complaints grew.
She knows that Steve is a sweet boy, well, used to be. He used to come over for cookies and tea, but that stopped when he got to high school.
The point is, Betty has been aware of the coming and goings in the Harrington house for longer than she cares to think about. And she noticed when something changed. The parties lessen, calm returns in the neighborhood.
Most of the neighbors are glad for the respite of noise, agreeing that Steve is finally growing up into a man. Though there are rumors that he knocked up a girl and she’s hiding in the house. Or that he has finally been kicked out by his parents for all the bad behavior.
Betty doesn’t believe any of it. Steve’s car still parks there for most of the nights and he still greets her softly when he comes across her outside. Steve is a good kid at heart and he has seen his sweetheart with another boy in town. She reasons it’s just heartbreak. It’ll blow over.
So, she isn’t surprised when she hears noise on the Harrington driveway. Betty will claim that she isn’t a gossip, but she is curious, so she gets up, tea cup in hand and looks out of the window that’s still open to let in the evening breeze.
“What did I tell you little shitheads?” Steve’s voice rings clearly and the noise stops. Betty clutches her pearls at the language, before she realizes what she’s looking at.
Steve is standing in front of a gaggle of children, who can’t be older than thirteen, fourteen maybe, his hands are on his hips and he glares them all down. Once it’s clear he has their attention, he starts talking again, waving a finger in a scolding manner.
“You can play your little nerdy game at my house, I don’t care, but you will behave outside,” he tells them. “People are trying to sleep here. Inside you can make noise, but try to take others in account.”
The kids mutter something and Betty is surprised at the responsible tone in Steve’s voice. Maybe the kid truly has grown.
“Am I clear?” Steve repeats, edge in his voice. Immediately all the kids nod and Steve’s posture relaxes as he smiles. “Good. Now get to the door and I’ll order pizza.”
Again the kids make noise as they cheer, but it’s a lot quieter as they hurry to the door. Betty watches them go inside, wondering what she just witnessed. She will bring a strange story to the next tea party, that’s for sure. Steve Harrington, babysitting, what a shock.
2.
Kenneth works in the grocery store. Well, not THE grocery store, Hawkins is too small for a proper grocery store, but he works in one of the bigger mom-n-pop shops and most people come through the doors for their necessities.
One of those people is Steve Harrington. Kenneth is used to dealing with him. He’s been trying to buy booze since he was fifteen and has had a rivalry with Kenneth from that age as well when the man refused to buy his fake ID.
Though, he hasn’t seen Harrington in a while. His lackeys came in a few times, but there was no Harrington waiting outside by their car. And Kenneth is kind of hoping Harrington is done with trying to piss off his parents.
It seems not, however.
Because Harrington comes in with a group of boys and a girl with red hair, who can’t be older than fourteen. Jesus, instead of growing up, he’s corrupting the middle schoolers. Fucking hell.
Kenneth gears himself up to fight Harrington again. He can sometimes look the other way as the boy tries to drink himself in the ground (the kid’s almost eighteen now), but this is way too far for Kenneth’s liking.
So, he is very surprised when they get to the counter and there is no alcohol in sight, just a bunch of snacks.
He is ever more surprised when Harrington picks up a bag of M&Ms and demands: “Alright, who put this here? I told you, before we went in that you all get to pick one snack. And this one suddenly appears.”
None of the kids he has with them fess up, all suddenly way more interested in looking anywhere but Harrington.
When it becomes clear none of the kids are going to speak, Kenneth watches in fascination as Harrington puts his other hand on his hip. He looks a bit like the mothers that come through the store, scolding their kids.
“I see no one has an explanation, so who volunteers to put this back on the shelve?” he asks. Still nothing. “Whoever does gets to ride shotgun,” he incentives.
The girl snatches the bag immediately as the boys all protest. However, she doesn’t move to put it back on the shelve. Harrington raises a brow at her. “So?” he prompts.
She stares back defiantly and says: “I put it in the cart. And I’m not putting it back on the shelve.”
“And do tell why not.”
“I grabbed it for El,” the girl says. “She never got to pick a snack, so I asked her and she mentioned that she liked M&Ms.” Then she raises a brow back that screams ‘your move now,’ the other kids quickly joining in and giving puppy eyes.
All the boys and Kenneth are watching the stare down, like it’s a duel. Then Harrington’s shoulders sag and he gives in: “Okay, fine. We can get the M&Ms, but if you all get sick on sugar you’re cleaning up if you throw up.”
With Harrington giving in the kids cheer and he turns to Kenneth and sighs: “This is everything, I think.”
A boy with a bowl cut, who Kenneth faintly remembers from the papers pipes up: “I forgot the orange juice, but it’s okay not to get it.”
Harrington looks down, his face softening as he gives the boy a gentle push. “No, it’s fine. Go, run and get some.”
The boy smiles and races off, Harrington smiles apologetically at Kenneth and says: “I’m sorry about that. Movie night. It gets kind of hectic.”
“It’s okay,” Kenneth manages to say, because this is honestly one of the strangest situations he has ever been in. Harrington is becoming responsible. People trust Harrington to watch over their kids. Perhaps there is still hope for the world.
3.
King Steve. Jenny hates him. She hates him so incredibly much.
She is a bit of a nerd and in high school that means you’re relentlessly bullied for it. And while King Steve didn’t join in, he used to always be there, just watching and that felt worse somehow, like she wasn’t worth the effort to bully.
Now he doesn’t even show up for the bullying. Jenny heard things about King Steve falling from his throne with the arrival of Billy Hargrove, who is terrible, but she thinks they’ll sooner work together. Both knuckleheads, popular, jock assholes.
So, you can imagine the shock that goes through her system when she finds him in the nerdiest section of the craft store.
A part of her screams that King Steve finally deemed her worthy of bullying and is waiting for her in the aisle of the craft store. But she quickly disregards that thought as it is both ridiculous and unlikely, since he’s there with a nerdy looking kid.
For a second she thinks he’s bullying the kid, whom she recognizes as Dustin Henderson, one of the middle schoolers that she helped on an inter-school science mentor program. She’s about to step in when she hears what King Steve is saying.
“I can’t believe you forgot about this science project, Henderson,” he says, rolling his eyes as he shuffles through the shelves. “You love science.” He pulls something off the shelve. “Aha, I got it, last red one.”
The kid huffs and crosses his arms: “It’s a stupid project. I can make a volcano in my sleep, so I didn’t put it on my list.”
“Hey, smartypants, don’t say that,” King Steve scolds (and isn’t that just a trip and a half). “I know no one will ever care what your middle school science grade was, but growing up means doing stupid shit you don’t want to do. You have to learn to do that. Trust me, it will help you.”
“You never seem to do shit you don’t want to,” Dustin pouts.
Steve (because calling him King Steve while he’s lecturing a kid he, by all rights, shouldn’t know, feels weird) rolls his eyes: “Yeah, and that’s why I’m barely scraping by in school, dipshit. Don’t take me as example. And watch your damn language.”
“You said it first,” the kid protests.
“And I just told you not to take me as an example,” Steve shoots back.
“But you’re cool,” Dustin says.
Steve sighs sadly, then says: “Being cool isn’t worth it. Trust me, kid. The things you have to do to be considered cool suck and I was a dick, okay. Don’t try to be cool, just be yourself and do your science so you can get into a good college and wow the people with your smarts. You get that, Henderson?”
Jenny never expected Steve to be so self aware and to sound so sad about the kind of person people know him to be. She remembers that he hasn’t been around his usual gang in a long while. That he regrets who he used to be.
That he’s apparently buying fucking supplies for a kid he babysits (?) so that he can do his science project and learn responsibilities.
Truly the world still has miracles that science can’t explain.
She’s snapped back to the scene by Steve saying: “Oi, I didn’t hear a yes. You get that?”
“Yeah, yeah, I get it, Steve,” he rolls his eyes without fear like sassing King Steve is something a nerd can get away with.
But apparently it is, because Steve smiles a fond smile and ruffles his hair. “Just keep being yourself, kid. And don’t sass me, or I’m not driving you to school tomorrow and you can try to get your volcano there by bike.”
Then they walk off, leaving Jenny there. Jenny, who hates King Steve and now isn’t even sure if he still exists.
4.
Danny loves hiking in the forest surrounding Hawkins, watching the lakes that dot the landscape and the people that congregate around them on hot days. What can he say, he’s a bit of a people watcher, sue him.
He has seen all sorts of things. Drunken kids, first kisses, first something way more that he absolutely didn’t want to see, kids learning how to swim, boys trying to one up each other, girls sunbathing. People who are relaxed are more true, in Danny’s opinion.
Today is a hot day, so Danny is out walking. He started walking to Lake Tippecanoe, then Lover’s Lake and is now nearing Lake Jordan.
As he nears he sees the usual teens hanging around on the little beach, since Lake Jordan was more popular under the youth. It’s much the same as the other lakes, just less little kids. Watching them is peaceful and calm.
That is broken not moments later by an unusual yell at Lake Jordan. “COME BACK HERE RIGHT NOW FOR SUNSCREEN. I’M LOOKING AT YOU, RED!”
There is Steve Harrington standing in trunks under a parasol, ice box at his feet and in his one hand there is indeed sunscreen, the other on his hip. A group of younger teens look back at him sheepishly, a girl with red hair sulkily walking back, the others in the group following her.
Then Danny watches as Steve Harrington makes sure all the kids have sunscreen evenly applied, doing their backs and faces for them. Then he makes them all drink water he gets from the cooler, before he allows them to the water.
As they walk, he warns: “Don’t go too far and make sure to reapply sunscreen when you get out the water.”
He gets groans back, though they’re all agreeing.
Steve stays there, watching the kids as they swim though he sits down on the chair under the parasol at some point. Danny just watches Steve.
It’s a bit odd to watch a teenager, Danny knows it, he just can’t help it. He has seen Steve around summer after summer. Everyone knows the Harrington boy and it was always easy to pick him out in the crowd, doing the most ridiculous stunts and having all the ladies around him.
Danny remembers he was more subdued less summer a petite girl under his arms. She is now gone and Steve is there with a group of children.
The whole image is nothing like what Steve is supposed to be, according to previous observations he has made. He’s supposed to be a popular guy, too cool for babysitting. For worrying about a group of teens, like he’s their brother. Or mother, if Danny is honest with himself.
However, he can’t deny how Steve looks more relaxed. His shoulders aren’t tight and his grin is too broad to be handsome, but all the more real and when he is finally convinced by the kids’ nagging to get in the water, he is playing like a kid and laughing like one too.
All in all, it’s a curious picture, but Danny likes interesting people and watching how Steve Harrington of all people is transforming now that he’s getting older is truly fascinating.
5.
Jeffry doesn’t know what happened between Tommy H. and Steve, but one day they were friends and the next Steve was bruised to hell and neither of them spoke to one another.
For a while after Steve was still popular, hanging around the basketball team during the breaks and walking with a swagger that said he owned the school, Nancy under his arm.
However, Nancy disappeared from under his arm and he started walking like had more important things to do than be in high school. And slowly his popularity wavered, especially when Billy showed up and practically usurped him, though Steve seemed to mind less than everyone had expected.
Even before that Jeffry heard the rumors of how Steve became a total loser, getting stuck with a babysitting job that he took way too seriously. But that sounded absurd to Jeffry. He’d known Steve and Steve would never, never, be caught dead doing something so uncool as babysit.
Yet, here he is witnessing those rumors to be true.
He is a bit earlier to school than normal today, since he has to talk with the counselor before class, something he desperately doesn’t want to do. So, he’s still hanging around in the parking lot when he sees a familiar car pull in.
Steve Harrington has arrived. He gets out of his car, sunglasses on his face, nonchalant pose as he looks around.
Then four boys get out of the car as well and Jeffry feels his eyebrows creep up his face as he watches Steve turn to the boys. He takes his sunglasses of and says: “You shrimps good to make your own way to school?”
“Yeah, Steve,” one rolls his eyes, brown hair and sharp features.
“Hey, be grateful I even drove you guys here,” Steve scolds (yeah, the great King Steve is scolding a kid in a tone that’s too fond to be meant). “I could have left your little asses right there with your bikes so you could make your own way to the arcade after school. But I’m nice, so I didn’t.”
“Thank you, Steve,” another kid with lighter brown bowl cut hair. The others quick echo him.
Now Steve rolls his eyes, but he is smiling anyway. “No problem. Now, shoo. See you twerps after school’s out.”
The four boys nod and bid their goodbyes. They’ve just started to walk away when Steve calls out: “Oi, Sinclair.”
The boys all stop, the black one turning around. That is likely Sinclair, Jeffry thinks. He wonders what the hell Steve is calling them back for alongside the rest of the boys. Then watches in shock as Steve gently does something to Sinclair’s collar, before saying: “Your tag was out.”
Okay, yeah, Jeffry doesn’t know what happened, but no one is going to believe this shit later. I mean, who would. King Steve fussing over a group of middle school children like an overly concerned mom.
Fucking hell.
What bothers me the most about Season 4 is the poor and bad writing. Max is acting like season 3 doesn't exist and is happening right after season 2. I would have had zero trouble with Max's feelings towards Billy had the writers portrayed it better. She keeps telling us how bad Billy was, but we didn't see any of that. After Max "put Billy in his place" so to speak in Season 2, he calmed down from what we saw in Season 3. She spoke of him in a relatively unproblematic way, complaining mildly over loud happy noises, him tending his muscles, etc., as siblings do. She was also visibly very concerned for him and hoped he wasn't possessed. When he sacrifices himself, she screams in terror. That's why it's hard for me to take Max seriously in season 4. Suddenly she keeps saying how bad he was, but doesn't give any concrete examples, neither are we shown any. This is where the superficiality of writers comes into play. It comes across as very sloppy.
I'm all for Max's complicated feelings towards Billy and I don't think she believes he deserved to die in the slightest but that line does not make sense with the rest of everything.
Her saying she wished he would die, disappear or something bad would happen to him in my opinion was before and during S2. Billy is canon in being a dickhead before Hawkins but he's worse once he arrives and she knows this, shows genuine discomfort at his behaviour and clearly fears him until the last episode where she threatens him. From then on, including the look shared between them before the Snowball comes across as a mutual sign of respect.
Max stood her ground and Billy backed off. Cut to 6-7 months later and they seem to at the least co-exist successfully and everything she says about him is that of surface level annoyance at having a big brother. Happy screams, working out like crazy and being a weirdo are all things she brings up like its just a mild inconvenience not a controlling abusive brother.
I'm sure they had their moments still, fights and negative feelings but it comes across as if Billy had calmed down and Max stopped being under his thumb. I don't doubt he was hell to live with, Neil as well before and after the move to Hawkins but Max's entire demeanor and emotions towards Billy in S3 just don't add up to "I froze because I wasn't sure if he deserved to be saved or not"
Her whole speech was great, realistic and made her entire arch for S4 even more heartbreaking but then that final line felt off. Everything else worked so well, added to her letter greatly and then the reason she froze just doesn't make sense.
A 14 year old girl running in to see her brother facing off a monster and her freezing in fear makes total sense. What would she have done? Push him out of the way? Max staying away from him made sense.
Her guilt for wishing him away and then it actually happening is such a good narrative point and character development tool that I was in shock when I watched that scene. It broke me because it was real.
Now, I think Max is totally valid in her feelings. It makes sense and its a human response and I don't for a second believe she thinks he deserved to die. She wants to die herself she feels so bad about even thinking that for a moment. However, now knowing the Duffers don't rewatch their own show it makes sense why that one line doesn't add up in the grand scale of things.
Throughout S3 Max is worried, scared and upset that Billy is the host but then suddenly she doesn't know if he's worth saving? Bullshit. I think the Duffers forgot her whole fucking character in S3 and only remembered S2. I love Max and I am here for her having very complicated feelings towards Billy but I trust her letter more than her speech. Her letter was for Billy not for Vecna like her speech was.
I don't think the Duffers are saying he deserved to die either. I just think they can be shitty writers at times and rely on better directors to carry their show.
Everything Max said I stand by except for that one line because it has no context to back it up whereas everything else does.
I might have rambled but I do love this show for what it is and I love Billy separately in a way. Anyway Dear Billy is the best episode of the show and its about our boy so we win lol
“Prison changed me.”
“Auschwitz couldn’t change you.”
SCREAMING!!!! SCREAMING!!! At first watch, I just enjoyed Ivan’s usual snark-snarl combo, but on rewatch, they really did put in all those nazinazinazi hints out there long before the reveal.
I also forgot how much I enjoyed all the Ivan-Noiret scenes. Perhaps “enjoyed” is the wrong word - Noiret is a monster whose specialty is taking Ivan apart after all - but the emotional charge in them is so good!
So much of the scenes is made by the acting of the two of them btw - Noiret’s slick wrongness - as if he’s trying to pretend to be human and almost gets it but not quite - and Ivan’s controlled yet unceasing terror - he is one human sized flinch around his father - coiled and waiting for some next torment yet somehow unprepared every time it comes.
In this scene, the start of Noiret’s campaign to win Ivan over (so he can access some money that is tied to Ivan; though the show does not reveal that until later), what strikes me that he cannot manage the pretense fully - he says “you must forgive me” and I get full body shudders - since when is abuse victim obligated to forgive their abuser? If he really got therapy and changed, shouldn’t he get that? And yet, you know what is so heartbreaking? Ivan’s father is a monster who abused him for years, he is not that good at faking his reform and yet Ivan ultimately gets fooled, ultimately forgives him and believes him. Only to get his heart stepped on yet again. It’s amazing he doesn’t have insane trust issues to the extent that prevent him from opening his heart again (the way Marcos does), but I think that’s because he’s inherited Maria’s enormous capacity for love. Despite Noiret’s “we are alike” (and Ivan ptsd flashing back to his killing a man at the beginning of the season), they are nothing alike at all.
I do love that there is never either cathartic revenge moment OR forgiveness moment for Ivan vis-a-vis his monster father. It’s just he finds people who love him for real and is able to give him less space in his head and to not be around him, and sometimes that’s the best you are going to manage.
PS He was supposed to be in jail for 3 years for abuse but got out early. I can buy that with his money and nazi bosses. But the thing that strikes me even more is that the school happily puts him on the board of directors. A man fresh out of jail for abuse - and not just of his gf which is bad enough - but abuse of his own son! Sure, let’s put him in charge of a school, what could go wrong? He’s rich after all! Being burned down to the ground was the best thing that happened to that place.
PPS When Ivan told Noiret he felt relieved when he found out they were not related because he’s not sharing his genes - I wonder how much of Noiret’s rage at Ivan wasn’t just because he was an abuser or even because he didn’t want to be saddled with a kid not his own, who he bought to please his rich wife but then was stuck with, but more specifically because this proponent of genetic purity, who clearly believed in his genetic superiority, had to treat as his own and spend money on someone with inferior genes - child of two teen junkies would be pretty low on their superiority hierarchy.
PPPS Paula mentioning the claptrap she was given that we must forgive everything, and Ivan gently telling her that some things cannot be forgiven is very much the theme of this show. Some things really shouldn’t be and it’s all well and good to feed children simplistic messages except it’s done in an institution where these same children are experimented on - it’s not a normal environment, that is a “forgive your torturers” set up and our mains so uniformly say “hell no.” Some characters are full of forgiveness - Maria - but even they only have it for things that are forgivable and have been repented for. None of that noble “turn the other cheek” here.
“Unity” and the Broken Boys
BOY Y’ALL BETTER SIT DOWN BECAUSE THIS IS AS LONG AS CAN BE AND I TOOK OFF WORK TOMORROW SO I’VE GOT TIME
This is....one of the best episodes in the show.  Yeah, in all 325 of them, this is hands down one of the best.
First of all, stan Amara for clear skin.
That silent treatment babey, right out the gate with the Angst.  Tbh Dean deserves it.
“Like I said, killing Amara, Jack dying...that’s the only way.”
“The only way.  Our one shot.  Our Last chance.  You ever get tired of saying stuff like that?”
“We don’t have to like it, alright?  But you and me, we gotta get it done.”
Amara is such a welcome energy in this whole episode.  She’s warm and understanding, whip-smart and probably more powerful than Chuck.  I love her.
Sam is a wonderful, understanding, loving dad.  I love him eternally.  He loves Jack so much, he’s trying so desperately to do what’s right for Jack but also what’s right for the world.  Jack made this choice, but he can’t live with it.  How do you support your child when their life is at stake?
“Come on man.  Blindly following orders, lying to Amara, sending her to her death. Does any of this feel right to you??”
“It doesn’t matter how we feel!  You know what?  Stay.  Stay.  Someone has to be the grown up here.”
“Yeah well someone has to keep fighting for Jack!”
“He knows what he signed up for!”
“Last I checked, we don’t give up on family.”
“Jack’s not family.”
Y’all should have heard the noise I made.  What a fucking line.
“I know how you feel about the kid, I care for him too, I do, but he’s not like you.  He’s not like Cas.  He’s just not.”
“I’m- I’m ready.”
You can see the regret, the heartbreak in Dean’s eyes.  You can see how he wants to take those words back the moment he said them, and for Jack to hear them?  It’s unthinkable.
Sam and Cas I’m just so fucking emo dude.
“Sam, you stayed behind to find another way huh?  I woulda done the same.”
AMARA
First of all, LOVE this structure.
Amara and Chuck have such a fascinating dynamic.  Rob and Emily do a great job (as they have all along) by clearly being siblings but...heightened.  You can just tell they both exude power, and the other is the only one they consider an equal.
“You and Dean had that whole weird...thing.”
“That wasn’t you writing?”
“Ugh, not that part.  Gross.”
What I took away from this is what I’ve suspected all along.  They HAVE free will, just not total free will.  Dean and Amara’s connection wasn’t Chuck, there are parts of the story he didn’t write.  Obviously, this comes into play later.
I also have a hunch that Chuck doesn’t write romance.  I also think that in particular will come into play.
“Balance.  Something we’ve never tried before.  Creation and destruction, light and dark, brother and sister united again, but on behalf of one world, this world.  True balance.  The way it was always meant to be.  But you can’t.  You only care about your pleasure, your story.  Well, I guess that makes you the villain.”
“Villains get all the best lines.”
We see again and again this season, Chuck is irredeemable.  He doesn’t care about the angels, he doesn’t care about the world, he doesn’t care about anything.  He is a petulant toddler who has broken his toys. And when he realizes he’s trapped, he gets angry, he shouts and screams, completely at odds with Amara’s peace.
“You can’t hold me here forever.”
“I can hold you long enough.”
DEAN
Pain is the name of the game in this section homies.  Because not only are we dealing with Dean’s pain, we’re also dealing with Jack’s.  Jack says he understands why Cas and Sam mean more to Dean, but Dean clearly doesn’t, he, once again, wants to say more, but is stopped, still stopped by his fear: his fear of not beating Chuck.
Alright guys, gals, and non-binary pals.  Let’s talk about Adam and Seraphina.
Adam.  The first man.  And Seraphina.  The angel.
“My old lady.  She’s the only one who could put up with me all these years.”
Yeah okay.  Volume at 100 I get it lmao.
But also: Adam wants God dead not because he and Eve were kicked out of the Garden, but because he went after their sons.  The theme of protecting the children strikes again.
“Killing God is your plan?”
“Yeah, Billie’s been giving us a hand but Sera and me, this is our baby.”
This juxtaposed directly with Dean’s own pain at what he has to do to kill Chuck, to gain his free will: the cost of his child.
Adam’s rib.
And who else might get his ribs hurt, only to be likely healed by an angel?
Tumblr media
It’s fine, that’s fine.  I’m fine with that.
“Jack, I don’t know how to explain it but, when I found out about Chuck, it’s like I wasn’t alive.  Not really.  You know like my whole life I’ve never been free, but like really free.  But now?  Now me and Sam, we got a shot at living a life, without all this crap on our backs.  And that’s, that’s because of you.  So, I want to say, I need to say...thank you, Jack.  Thank you.”
I’m gonna have to do a separate post about just Dean in this episode, because there is so fucking much to talk about, but there are a couple of things that I think are important:  Dean realizes how wrong he was, to say what he said.  He knows that it’s not true, this is the way he’s always coped with loss, by pushing the person to be lost away, but for Jack to hear it?  He can’t stand for that.
And:
Tumblr media
Dean has finally pushed through the barrier.  He won’t be quiet in the face of his doubts anymore.  This is a breakthrough for him, and, of course, there are more to come.
SAM
Sam and Cas, my chaos duo.
The box, the inscription, the door.
Death’s library, filled with dead reapers.
And there it is.  The Empty.
It tells Sam the plan, the plan for Billie to take God’s place.  For everything to go back to the way it’s “supposed to be.”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This has always been the game, since season 13.  This is the longest of long games.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sam fuckin Winchester, lying his way out of a confrontation with the Empty like the legend that he is.
He comes back with a new purpose: to stop Billie’s plan, and here’s where we get to the heart of the episode and maybe the heart of the season.
“You hear that?  Dean, brought to the edge of doubt.  His sense of duty, his rage winning out in the end.  And poor Sam, always gotta know everything.  Can’t leave well enough alone.  This is my ending, my real ending.”
The gun comes out, pointed at Sam.
Hmm...what did I say during 15x05?  Oh yeah, this.
And:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Dean would never survive killing Sam, but he’s willing to do anything, anything to earn his freedom.  His ending, where one brother kills the other and then kill himself.
Why, you might ask, did Sam not mention that the angels would be sent back to Heaven, why does he not mention Cas?  I’ll tell you why, or rather, Becky will.
Tumblr media
Plus, Dean looks back at Cas IMMEDIATELY when Sam says that, when he mentions Eileen, and THAT’S the first time he hesitates.  He can’t lose Cas.  But at the same time, he’s willing to do anything to have his freedom.
“Sam we don’t have a choice, Jack’s about to blow!”
“We always have a choice!”
You know me, just sitting here thinking about choice, the ability to choose, and how that translates to their free will.
And Sam...I don’t think there will ever be characters I love as much as these.
“I don’t care if Billie gets what she wants!  I don’t man, I’d trade it all, I’d trade em all for Chuck.  In a heartbeat!”
“What about me?”
“You’d trade me?”
“Chuck has to die.  He has to!  Otherwise he’ll keep us tap dancing forever, and I can’t live like that man, I can’t live like that, I won’t!”
“I know you feel like that right now, okay? I know you do, but you gotta trust me.  My entire life, you’ve protected me.  From Dad, from Lucifer, from everything.  I didn’t always like it, you know?  But it’s the one thing in the whole world that I could always count on.  It’s the only thing I’ve ever known that was true.  So please, put the gun away.  Just put it away.  We’ll figure it out, Dean, we’ll find another way, you and me.  We always do.”
Okay I feel like this is going to be one of those scenes that I cry watching for years to come.  Because fuck.  After fifteen years they finally admit that not only did Dean protect Sam from Lucifer, but he protected him from John.  John.  On a par with Lucifer.
Dean and Sam have, for so many years, sacrificed themselves for the other.  Dean’s demon deal, Sam and the trials, every season they have fought to see who can die the quickest for the other.  But this?  This is them fighting to stop the violence, to stop from killing the big bad.  This is them growing, in our eyes, in real time.  Sam has always been able to get through to Dean when no one else had a prayer, but for Dean to listen, for Dean to take his words to heart, to stop the hunt for Sam, for their family, that’s how you know they do have free will.
(Btw Chuck’s eye effect when he dusted Amara was sick as fuck but I’m emo for my boys so.)
Chuck knows it’s a loss, he knows that his story has, once again, been thwarted by the boys making their own choices.  And he’s pissed, but in his anger, we get a bomb dropped on us.
“Spare me your contempt Castiel, the self-hating angel of Thursday.  You know what every other version of you did after “gripping him tight and raising him from perdition”?  They did what they were told.  But not you.  Not the one off the line with a crack in his chassis.”
Are you fucking kidding me?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Also, just worth bringing up this one as well:
Tumblr media
Every Castiel pulled Dean out of Hell.  Every one told him the same thing.  And yet, immediately, with this Cas and this Dean, something was different.  Because what has everyone seen about Cas, from the moment he met Dean?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And there’s our endgame people.  Laid out on the line.
But we ain’t done yet, fam.
Tumblr media
We’ve talked about the handprint, but you know:
Tumblr media
So there you have it, our prep into the “monumental” 15x18.  I have spec on that, of course, but I think a novel is long enough for this.
What to take away: Dean’s rage was always Chuck’s plan, they do have free will, their love for each other, for their family, is what will stop Chuck’s control, Death is about to come back with a vengeance, Cas’ deal is at play, and, most importantly, Castiel and Dean Winchester are a blind spot for Chuck, something he has never, not once, controlled.
My Girl (dad!spencer)
Tumblr media
masterlist
summary: spencer helps his daughter deal with her first heartbreak
word count : 1.2k
*anon requested* i hope u like it bestie
warnings: mentions of cheating, self doubt, crying, some curse, mentions of a dead parent, and an upset dad.
spencer reid and oc! daughter
Tumblr media
“Evie, I’m home” Spencer's voice bounced off the walls of the small apartment. The team had been away on a case for quite some time, nearly three weeks. Ask Spencer and he’d tell you they had been gone for two weeks, four days, and a rough thirteen hours. Far too much time away from his daughter, despite his absence, something felt off in his home, he hadn’t been sure what but, he just had a hunch. They say mothers know everything but, try having a profiler as a father.
His face fell into a pout, he’d felt slightly offended not getting his usual hug and kiss from his daughter. “Monkey?” he softly called once again, hoping to get some proof of life.
He quickly laid his bag onto the ground before slowly walking around the home in search of the sixteen year old. With the hell he’s been through since working at the bau he couldn’t be too cautious. Especially with his daughter, he’d already lost you to his job and he sure as hell wouldn’t be losing her too.
“In here dad” she called. The sound of her voice caused his muscles to immediately relax. He placed his gun back in its holster before finding his way towards her bedroom. Only to see her buried under a pile of blankets, he couldn’t help but chuckle at how ridiculous she looked.
He walked farther into her room before sitting on the edge of her bed pulling the blankets away from her face, nose a vibrant shade of pink and eyes puffy. Either she had just been crying or she had the flu, seeing as it’s not flu season she had definitely been crying as of recently. Giving him a weak smile, one that didn’t quite meet her eyes. If the puffy eyes and tear stained cheeks, that fake smile is what gave her up.
He sighed not quite sure how to properly approach the situation without offending his daughter there were a multitude of answers, questions, and arguments that began to boggle around his mind before he simply decided on,
“What’s up? I can tell there’s something bothering you.” he watched as her facade immediately faltered.
“How did you know?” hesitantly asked, clearly shocked that her father seemed to figure out she was upset but, then again she knew it probably didn’t take a profiler to realize that. She was never good at keeping her emotions hidden, her face always gave it away.
“Call it father’s intuition, or that I’m just really good at my job” he smugly answered hoping to make her laugh but only receiving a dry laugh as her response. He blindly reached for her hand taking it into his own, giving it a light squeeze before giving the young girl a tight lipped smile. Praying to a god that he didn’t believe in that she would eventually open up to him so he could help her in any way he possibly could.
He sat there silently waiting for some sort of explanation as to what got her down but, he wasn’t willing to pry and irritate the situation further. Spencer respected her boundaries the same way he’d expect his own to be respected. With that, he got up to leave, “you can say it”
“I’m sorry?” he could say a lot of things. Give Spencer a topic and the man could go on for hours with the little knowledge he knows of it, he racked his mind of all the possibilities.
“That you were right. He really was a dick” she huffed, not willing to meet her father’s gaze.
Ah, there it was. The he that Evangeline had been referring to was her piece of sh– let’s just say Spencer had quite a few distasteful words to say about the young man. Normally Spencer would scowl at her for her word choice but, this wasn’t a time for him to play bad cop. He just simply needed to be her father.
“Do you want to talk about it?”
“Daniel broke up with me. It turns out he’s been cheating on me with Janet Turner.”
“Oh Evangeline, I’m s–” the tremble of her bottom lip caused him to freeze in his spot, there was nothing more that he wanted to do than kill the boy that dared to break his little girl’s heart. Never in a million years had Spencer thought of such vile things to do to another person.
“Daddy, what’s wrong with me?” Evangeline’s eyes welled with tears, causing Spencer's heart to break more before rushing back to her side pulling her into him. Peppering kisses on the top of her head, in some attempt to soothe her before deciding to shower the young girl with praise,
“Oh my sweet girl, I can assure you that there is absolutely nothing wrong with you”
“I want you to be proud of yourself. For walking away from a situation that I know must’ve been infuriatingly difficult for you” he continued, holding her head in both of his hands, they both stared at one other with tear filled eyes.
“and I want you to believe that you’re good enough because you are. You’re so damn amazing, Evangeline”
“Love, it’s tricky. There’s no doubt in that. I know this may be difficult to understand now but, look at this as some gift in disguise. You’re young boys and girls will come go and I promise, you’ll get that happy ever after. If there is anything you want or need me to do, tell me. Okay?”
“Can you just hold me, and uh, read to me, please?” her voice was barley audible, the thought caused his heart to swell, Spencer would do anything in his power just to see his girl smile again.
“Are you sure that you have room for me here with all those blankets?”
“You know we haven’t done this since you were 8,” he giggled as he climbed into the bed beside her pulling her into him. “any special request?”
“Great Expectations?“ and so he read, every single page that he had memorized. He hadn’t realized how long he’d been sitting there reading until a snore left his daughter’s mouth. He laughed to himself before slipping out of her bed and looking out her bedroom window. The night sky was filled with beautiful stars twinkling with light, in a way, it was like they had been saying hello.
Spencer found himself stumbling toward his bedroom, a room he hadn’t seen in weeks. A much needed sigh left his lips as he tossed himself down onto the mattress, as much as he wanted to sleep he simply couldn’t. His mind had definitely been a gift but, right now he despised it. As it seemed to be a never ending loop of old memories. All he had been thinking about the moment he saw his daughter crying (aside from thinking of ways of destroying that boy) was you.
The love of his life gone way too soon. He thought of the ways you could have handled this situation a shit ton better than he, you just had this way with words that seemed to comfort everyone. His eyes drifting over towards his nightstand, his eyes began to swell with tears for what felt like the thousandth time that night. He stared at an old photo from quite some time ago, it was Evangeline's seventh birthday. The last birthday you had spent with them. You lost your life shortly after during a nasty case. An incident he’d never forgive himself for.
But, the resemblance between the two of you was remarkable. Evangeline was a replica of you, it felt as if your presence never left, it was comforting truly, I’m no y/n but, I think I did a pretty good job today, don't you think?” maybe it was Spencer’s exhaustion, or perhaps he had finally gone crazy after all these years but, he could’ve sworn he heard your laugh. It was enough for him to believe that was your way of applauding him.
hello!! It's your relief story anon!!! i friken love what you wrote!!! may i have another request 🥺 similar to the relief story, Levi's s/o gets into a near death experience right in front of him and he freezes for the first time. everyone's super shocked abt it after the mission and he gets reprimanded just for formalities (erwin n hanji rlly just wanna check up on him personally) but they all understand since he's been through a lot. Levi can't deal with his emotions and he wants to say i love you to his s/o (first time saying it) but he doesn't know how and yes HAHAHAHA
- OMG HI AGAIN ! IM SO HAPPY THAT YOU ENJOYED IT THANK YOU SO MUCH !!!!! thank you again not only for requesting that, but also for requesting again, it’s so awesome when u guys come back and request more :) plus your ideas are always so great. i had a lot of fun writing this, i hope u enjoy <3 (and i got your second message tysm for adding it ! i tried to include as much fluff as possible but my dumb brain always defaults to angst hahaha)
how to say i love you
warnings: season 2 and ova spoilers (if you haven’t watched the ova’s yet they’re on youtube but this only references ‘a choice with no regrets’ aka levi’s ova)
levi has never had...feelings for anyone before.
the romantic kind, of course. he's felt plenty of things towards people on a regular basis—anger. hate. disgust. confusion. annoyance. frustration.
to be fair he has had the occasional friend, or the occasional person who he respected, and others who he flat out wanted to protect. just never anything romantic.
this didn’t bother him, falling in love wasn’t his top priority or anything. his life has been one traumatic experience after the other. there was no time for him to be romantically involved with another, nor was he willing to take the risk of potential heartbreak that would add to his constantly growing list of traumatic events.
when he first met y/n l/n he acknowledged her as nothing more than another member of the survey corps. someone he would work with. someone he would train with. someone who he would give orders to if deemed necessary. someone who would join his team. someone he would slowly become more curious about. someone who would bring him feelings that he couldn't describe in words.
his plans had clearly gone astray.
y/n was supposed to be nothing more than a colleague, but somehow fate had much more in store. the young girl began to appear more and more in his life and before he could even process it, she was already apart of his team.
now that the they were spending almost everyday together, along with the rest of his team, levi had the opportunity to try to solve the mystery that was y/n.
there was something that he felt about her that he couldn't put into words. the way she was determined to save humanity and her friends, the way she poured everything she had into everything she did, the way she was strong in every aspect of the word, the way she got along with the rest of the team, the way she laughed, the way she smiled, the way she spoke, the way she moved, all of it. it all encapsulated him.
what is this emotion ? fascination ? curiosity ? these words weren’t completely right, but they safe enough for him to settle on for now.
yes, that's all. the brat just makes me curious because i don't understand her.
at least, that's what he told himself. but the tingles that remained on his skin from the place where she accidentally brushed up against him or the way his stomach felt after his eyes met hers or the way he noticed himself always wanting to be near her or the way he wanted to protect her more than anything in the world, said otherwise.
whatever message he wanted to send probably definitely was not passed on. when y/n accidentally brushed up against him he snapped back "watch it." when she made eye contact with him, it was more her meeting his eyes and him seemingly glaring back. when he took a few steps towards her to be closer, she felt paranoid, wondering if he was determining whether or not he should scold her for something. when she was on missions and he occasionally had to step in and save her tail, she felt like she was slacking.
truthfully in all these situations levi just resorted back to his true nature. he never meant any harm so clearly he wasn’t the best at expressing his feelings. henceforth, the three word phrase was foreign to him.
after all the many challenges that came with trying to understand each other, the couple finally got together. but despite being together, neither had said the 'L word’ yet.
to be honest, y/n hadn’t dwelled on it too much. she had learned the best way to survive mentally was to live in the moment. when the time would come, the time would come, however, the thought that time wasn’t a guarantee gnawed at the back of her brain.  she always wondered how levi felt about the matter, but never got around to asking. little did he know he’d once again find out for himself that time wasn’t a guarantee.
just like every other day, y/n awoke to levi placing a kiss on her forehead. he wished nothing more than to let the love of his life sleep late into the morning in their shared bed, safe from the dangers of the world, but there was another mission today in which he needed her by his side.
the plan was to head to the outskirts of wall rose to a forest that was known to be surrounded by titans. hanji convinced erwin to let her try to capture titans in the forest again, as it all but worked on the female titan. erwin agreed, not only because he too believed the survey corps had all the materials necessary to capture titans again, but also because he knew the scouts needed more real time practice in the forest. levi wasn’t happy to hear the commander refer to this as “practice,” since so many lives were guaranteed to be lost in the process, but there was nothing he could do about it.
with everyone’s approval and the preparations complete, they were off. the ride there had been as close to smooth sailing as possible, with erwin successfully rerouting the troops to avoid as many unnecessary collisions with titans as possible and a surprisingly low amount of abnormals in their path. but everyone knew the real problems would be up ahead.
in this area, the titans were mainly surrounding the thick trees in the forest. it wasn’t too far from the forest where they encountered the female titan so the layout of the jungle was fairly similar. a large path ran straight through the trees, leaving the scouts lots of opportunities.
before the forest itself came into view, the hoard otherworldly creatures showed up. the crowd of titans didn’t seem to be too bad, with none surpassing ten meters. a bit of the outer edges of the formation took a hit, but everyone else made it into the woods unscathed.
unlike the last time levi’s squad was in the forest, their objective was not to be the bait. instead, they were to take to the trees and be on clean up duty. it was a little different from their normal clean up duty, as they weren’t doing chores around the castle or cabin—they were eliminating stray titans. the survey corps was only prepared to capture two titans, so any others that entered needed to be exterminated.
they weren’t the only ones with this job, but erwin placed them as the last hoop the titans had to get through before they were captured. any titans that escaped the first few groups were more likely than not going to be challenging, so they needed to be left with the most talented squad.
the eight scouts that made up levi’s squad traveled the path that cut through the forest until they found the four trees in which they were to set up camp. levi and jean were on the first tree, armin and sasha on the one across from them, connie and mikasa on the next, and y/n and eren on the fourth. the formation placed y/n and levi diagonal from each other so they could each defend half of the younger scouts in their squad if necessary, as well as had the team in pairs that weren’t often together for even more practice.
the ground rumbled beneath the group as they looked down to see the first wave of soldiers acting as bait pass through. after some time and a few more waves, including hanji and erwin who were in charge of the traps, everyone passed through and the titans came into sight.
the ground troops had all reported that no abnormals or titans above ten meters made it in so they all relaxed—or relaxed as one can be when they’re facing man-eating giants. levi recognized the last troop passing through and gave his second in command a nod which she returned, letting everyone else know it was show time.
the rumbling of the ground from the horses before was nothing compared to that of the titans. not counting the first two, there were nine titans in all. everyone gave a silent thanks to the squads who had narrowed down the hoard before it arrived to them.
finally, the first two titans ran past the trees levi’s squad was hidden in, chasing the ground troops. with a loud “now !” from levi, the rest of them deployed from their hiding places. thanks to the squad’s impeccable teamwork and countless hours of training in forests closer to home, the remaining seven titans were taken out without a hitch. y/n couldn’t help but feel a sense of pride as she watched her team improve with every mission and it was obvious they all felt the same way. the way they beamed and had to hold back their celebration was as a clear as day.
the team regrouped, with y/n checking the younger members for any life threatening wounds and levi double checking all the titans were taken care of. she had just finished examining sasha when levi came back and announced the next step of today’s plan. everyone was to head forward to meet the other troops and aid in getting the titans back to the walls. although the titans may be secured, there were still infinite possibilities for catastrophes that could happen so they needed all the backup they could get. the young cadets nodded in agreement then followed after levi as he took to the sky, with y/n tailing the rest of the group. if y/n and levi weren’t side by side during missions, this was always the formation everyone fell into. levi led the way, protecting the front of the party, and she acted as the caboose to make sure no one got left behind as well as to protect them from the back.
after a few failed tricks from eren as he tried to show off with his gear and a quick scolding from levi, the rest of the scouts came into view. the mission appeared to be a success. the final two titans were both apprehended, one nailed to the ground and the other bound in the air.
squad levi landed and began to greet everyone but didn’t get very far when hanji’s squeals flooded everyone’s ears.
the scientist was practically bouncing up and down as she came over. “squad levi ! all in one piece, i see. let me show you what we’ve done,” she gushed, ushering all of them towards the titans.
it was no surprise she was so excited. she had been waiting for this day to arrive for ages, but levi still gave a quick “tch,” under his breath out of annoyance which forced y/n to cover her mouth with her palm to stifle a laugh.
the eight, now nine, of them cranned their necks up to see the side of the beast that was hammered into the ground. the sight would’ve been cruel if it were anything other than a titan, but remembering all the pain they’ve brought to each one of them, no one did so much as bat an eye. returning the focus back to hanji, everyone watched as she took a sharp inhale to prepare for her long ramble about how everything worked. lucky for y/n, before hanji could exhale, levi grabbed his partner’s arm and pulled her away.
he pulled her close so he could whisper in her ear, “come on, let’s go find erwin.”
as much as she wanted to argue with him and tell him he was being mean, she really didn’t want to listen to hanji’s spiel that she had heard a million times over. a tiny pang of guilt struck y/n for leaving the other half of the squad behind forced to listen to her, but sometimes everyone has to take one for the team.
she threw a quick wave over her shoulder to the others, then followed levi, who was still holding her arm, as he dragged her through the crowd of other scouts who were just floating around, waiting for orders, until he finally spotted the commander.
the tall man’s eyes fell upon the pair and he drew himself away from whomever he was speaking with to come greet them.
“ah levi, y/n,” erwin began. levi’s expression stayed the same but y/n offered the man a small smile and wave which he returned with a nod. erwin was actually the one who recommended to levi that he should consider y/n to be apart of his squad, so she heavily credited him entirely with starting your relationship with levi (even if levi disagreed every time she told him this).
levi and erwin fell into formal conversation, discussing the remainder of the mission, which left y/n realizing levi hadn’t really saved her from a talk you’ve heard countless times before, but instead brought her into another one.
hanji’s rambling would have been more interesting than this she thought to yourself as she began lazily scanned the small sea of scouts scrambling around, looking for a way to entertain yourself until the two men were done talking. one group in particular caught her eyes.
the soldiers seemed to be much more jittery than everyone else. they frantically looked amongst each other and towards the titan that hanji had just finished showing the rest of levi’s squad, and seemed to be contemplating a solution to an unknown issue.
it was clear something was up.
just as she placed her hand on levi’s shoulder to bring his and erwin’s focus over to the scene, the ground began to shake, which caught their attention for her.
no one had time to react when dust flew up everywhere, obstructing everyone’s views so they couldn’t see where the loud crashes that followed came from. a strong force slammed into them, throwing them who knows how far into the air. the fear of hitting the ground barely had enough time to settle into y/n before everything went dark.
everyone in the vicinity had been sent flying into the air along, but levi was the first one to be up on his feet again. bringing his arms up to shield his eyes, he decided to stay where he was as the dust cleared so he could assess the situation and move on from there.
the scene finally came into view; he gathered that the titan had ripped its arm through the nails that secured it to the floor of the woods, then flailed it around in an attempt to grab people. it made a clean sweep in the area that he was previously standing—all that was left were debris and broken wood planks from the compartments that were attached to the other titan’s traps.
a wave of adrenaline passed through his body as he remembered who was with him. he needed to find not only erwin immediately, but also y/n. he reached down to grab the handles of his controller grip but froze instantly upon seeing what had just come into view as more of the dust cleared.
y/n was sprawled out on the ground, ODM gear tossed a few feet away from her body but more importantly, the titan’s hand was hovering mere meters above her.
his pulse almost quickened twicehold, but it felt as though it heart had stopped in his chest. situations like this presented themselves to levi almost everyday of his life, but this was much different. in those, he was almost two steps ahead. he knew that by now he should be wrapping his arms around y/n and pulling her to safety at breakneck speed, or even better, he should’ve shielded her from harm at the very beginning. but right now he couldn’t do so much as move his finger.
levi was completely inert—his arms felt like they being weighed down by a ball and chain, his legs felt like they had grown roots into the ground that planted in him place. his throat ran dry and his stomach felt like it had just done a flip. the rest of him went numb while shock consumed his body, physically and mentally, rendering him entirely helpless.
images of isabel, farlan, petra, oluo, eld, gunther, and countless others all flashed before him, the same running theme echoed in his mind—he wasn’t able to save them. all he had to do was pull back a single index finger. this would launch one of his anchors into the back of the titan’s neck, sending him flying to slice its nape. but he couldn’t do it. the only thing he knew he had the power to do was watch helplessly as his partner would be eaten alive.
the shouts of others flooded his ears as his senses slowly began to return to him, but it didn’t matter. he couldn’t make out a thing. frankly he wished he could so he could break away from the things that occupied his mind now. shame. guilt. humiliation. fear. regret. he took for granted every moment he had ever spent with y/n. every smile she gave him. every time he embraced her. every kiss. every conversation they shared under the stars while everyone else was fast asleep. every opportunity he had but failed to tell her that he—
before he finished his thought someone finally broke through his trance. erwin was the one who was able to crack the surface and bring him back to life.
the commander was shouting levi’s name, hoping, praying, to wake him up from whatever was going on in his head. levi was still unable feel his body, but he realized he was moving as the ground began to grow smaller. one of erwin’s strong arms hooked around levi’s middle and they were flying away from the chaos below. the commander spared a glance to levi to see the man’s eyes were still trained on y/n.
the feeling returned to levi’s body as he felt the pain of being thrown onto one of the thick tree branches surge through his body. not knowing how else to bring him back from the trance that wasn’t full broken, erwin had tossed off of him levi instead of placing him down gently.
he watched as levi scrambled up and expected him to yell back for throwing him, but the response was much different.
“where is she ??” levi demanded. his eyes may have been on y/n the whole time, but his mind was elsewhere replaying scenes from the past. he had no idea if she had been eaten, or even survived the initial attack. the only think he saw was her body on the ground, unmoving.
“safe,” erwin confirmed. “hanji ran over just in time and got her. but what happened to you ?” no one had ever seen levi freeze up the way he did. others believed it was just fear which made him seem a little more human to them, but erwin knew it was more than that.
throughout the years, erwin watched levi witness the deaths of those closest to him, and even then he was still able to act. but after seeing him go rigid, erwin was more than worried. it was clear levi went into shock, however, shock runs more than skin deep.
this became even more evident to him as levi remained silent the entire way back to the walls. y/n was still unconscious, so one of the open carts was her escort. guilt continued to wash over levi as he wasn’t able to ride in the cart with her to monitor her closely because he had to ride his horse back. regardless, he stayed as close to the cart as possible and stole as many glances her way as he could.
if he had it his way, he would’ve waited outside the infirmary for y/n when they arrived back home, but hanji and erwin practically dragged him to the mess hall to replenish his energy. this may or may not be skipping the part where levi was questioned about what happened, followed by him being chastised for his actions (or lack there of). levi could bare focus even though it was such a serious conversation. his mind was still a hazy mess. as much as hanji and erwin wanted to talk to levi more about the situtation, they knew it was best for the conversation to end there for the day. levi looked so shaken up that he could barely keep himself standing so the last thing he needed was to be yelled at more. the entire corps also made sure to steer clear of the man. he usually had all his emotions hidden but they were on full display now. it still scared the hell out of them.
but the fear alone wasn’t enough to stop them from whispering to themselves. word carried fast about how captain levi froze up and watched one of his squad mates almost die. the ones who only heard about the story instead of witnessing it couldn’t believe what they were hearing. the captain levi did nothing while one of his own almost became titan food ?
hearing the whispers in passing, levi didn’t care that they were talking about him, but he was still affected. their words just made reality sink deeper into him. they weren’t the only ones who were unable to believe what happened. he really just watched helplessly as someone almost died. and it wasn’t just someone, it was his other half.
“hey levi ?” hanji voiced, pulling him out of his head. levi didn’t bother looking up from his food that he had been staring at for the past few minutes to face her. the best he could to was give her a side glance as he peered at her from the corner of his eyes and waited for her to finish.
the glare he was sending her way made her blood run cold, but she took the hint and continued. “are you alright ?” she asked in a small voice.
“does it look like i’m alright ?” he growled back, then went back to eating.
“just wanted to ask,” she added with an awkward laugh then turned to erwin who was on the other side of her. for once in her life she knew not to press any harder, but making levi upset wasn’t her intention. she was genuinely worried about him. hanji gave erwin a what do i do now ? look, hoping for some help, but erwin could only shake his head. he cared about levi just as much as she did, but he knew there was nothing either of them could do or say to make levi feel better. the only thing he needed was to see y/n.
at last, levi finished his dinner and excused himself to go find his partner. as his feet carried him at a quick pace across the stone floors of the many hallways in HQ, fear came back to his already grim mind. there was no word on y/n’s condition so he assumed no progress had been made and she was still unconscious.
needless to say, when he rounded the corner and saw her sitting on the bench right outside the infirmary swiveling her heels and tapping her toes together as if she was bored, shock overcame him once again, this time on a much lower scale. similar to just a few hours ago, he was frozen instantly upon seeing her. it was a much prettier sight this time, but it was still painful to see. the bandage that wrapped around her head peaked out from being any strands of hair that fell in front of her face, other wraps and patches plastered themselves across her arms and legs, and some purple and blue splotches peaked out from behind them. this was only the skin that was exposed. for once in his life levi didn’t want to think about what she looked like when she weren’t wearing any clothes. he made a quick mental note to later place tender kisses on all her bumps and bruises, and took of running towards her.
y/n had been discharged from the infirmary during dinner hours, so the halls has been quite empty as she sat outside alone, falling into boredom. when the first sounds of shoes hitting the ground entered her ears, she got a bit excited, but calmed herself down reminding herself it probably wasn’t him. but when the steps got quicker and louder, she finally let yourself look up to see up to see her partner was the source. there was no point in holding back anyone; her face visibly lit up and a wide smile placed itself on her lips. just like levi, y/n wanted nothing more in the entire world than to see him.
he run turned to a jog then a complete stop as he halted in front of her. despite being so anxious to see one another, neither were really prepared. they just kinda...stared at each other, neither sure of the right words to say. levi decided to take the initiative. he opened his mouth, hoping something, anything, would come out, but his attempt fell flat. words just weren’t enough. instead, he lifted his arms and placed both hands gently on y/n’s shoulders. she caught on quickly, standing up at the same time as he was pulling her into his arms for a tight embrace.
the pair remained silent in each other’s arms until y/n decided to take initiative this time and finally spoke. “is it true ?” she mumbled against his neck, barely loud enough for him to hear.
as much as he had hoped the gossip would stay in the mess hall, levi knew that inevitably word would spread to her. someone must have told her everything that happened, leaving in every little detail about how levi made no moves to save her life, ending up having to be saved by hanji in the end.
based off his silence, y/n knew levi had a lot on his mind so she continued “did you really freeze up?”
he didn’t realize it, but he had tensed up at her words. it absolutely pained him to answer, but he couldn’t imagine the pain she were feeling.
summing up his courage, he began to confirm the worst, but she pulled away before he could get more than a “yes,” out. levi braced himself for the hurt expression that he would be faced with, knowing his heart would break instantly as she realized he truly did failed to protect her, but instead he was met with kind eyes and soft face.
the look on his face had utter disbelief written all over it as her hands went up to cup his face that was now reddening. “are you okay?” y/n asked softly. “im so sorry.”
levi was beyond bewildered. he wanted her to be furious at him. yell at him. pull her soft hands back and strike him as much as she pleased. tell him he failed and that she couldn’t stand the sight of him. he knew he deserved it all and more, but he should’ve known she would never do that. that wasn’t y/n.
he melted into her touch and placing one of his hand over one of hers that remained on his cheek. “i was terrified, y/n.”
y/n finally gave him one of her beautiful smiles and giggled softly. “why were you scared ? i was the one who almost got eaten,” she teased.
y/n’s laughs had quickly subsided after seeing the serious look that had etched itself onto levi’s face. “because you were in danger,” he started.
“i don’t know what id do with myself if i lost you, i...”
“i love you, y/n.”
it was finally y/n’s turn to get a taste of the shock that levi had been experiencing all day. she could’ve sworn her heart skipped a beat at his words, followed by butterfly wings tickling the inside of her tummy, her eyes widening and jaw falling slack. her hands slowly slipped from his face to instead place one of her palms on her chest to make sure her heart was indeed pumping at a regular pace.
levi, on the other hand, was not having a magical experience. y/n’s reaction made him feel as though his feelings weren’t reciprocated despite having been together for so long. he started to get deeper into his head, negative thoughts starting to eat away at him once again, when she finally spoke.
“i love you too, levi,” she breathed out, still too stunned to breathe properly.
levi had had enough of being unable to move for one day. one of his hands grabbed y/n’s waist while the other found its way to the back of her head, as he kissed her roughly, which she eagerly returned. the way he felt her grin against his lips was enough to make all the pain and fear he had experienced that day worth it.
he couldn’t have asked for a better outcome to such a shitty day.
levi had finally learned how to say i love you and he thanked the stars every night following that day that y/n was the one who taught him how.
I know some people prefer consistent content but I like to take it as it comes and sometimes life happens and other projects need to take priority.
So right now, I consider this to be a mid season break. Techno going into the prison was like the midseason finale for the Dream Prison Arc and Wilbur and Ranboo’s stuff was like their midseason finale and the Red Banquet where the egg was contained, was a midseason finale and alllllllll the mini episodes we’ve had since there are like specials etc.
You know, like how in Dr Who you can go a few years without a solid season but get a special at Christmas and New Year? You know like that.
So like all other programs, stories, videos I watch, I am coming up with ways in which the next bit could go. Some are a bit out there and definitely not happening, others I could see happening.
This is long and pointless and full or errors both grammatically and spelling wise but I had fun thinking of what could happen next. Read if you want.
Dream escapes prison with Technoblades help. A server wide man hunt comes for Dream but unlike his videos he had stolen the spare armour in the prison and so is pretty OP making it easier for him to put distance between his enemies and himself.
Technoblade returns to the artic and him, Phil and Will come to an in pass, a slight disagreement. Philza whilst having sided with Dream before, knows he’s not a good guy. Only used him to help destroy lmanburg for his own morals. It was not because he agreed with Dream. In his eyes, he was using Dream for his own goals. Plus, now he’s seen the aftermath of Dream’s terror on the citizens he realises the man perhaps shouldn’t be set to run entirely free. This slightly goes against Techno’s beliefs but the main issue of tension between them is Technoblade willingly placing himself in danger when he didn’t need too and helping release the man who tortured Tommy and clearly has something going on with Ranboo thats bad.
Wilbur is angry because Techno won’t say where Dream has gone due to an agreement between the two and Technoblade is a man of his word. Wilbur wishes to thank and meet the man who saved him. This also worries Philza because he’s worried he’ll revert back to the man he saw the day he blew up L’Manburg. Over all tension between the three
Niki and Wilbur finally meet and it is as heartbreaking as it is beautifully tragic. Wilbur apologises but misses the mark, misses what hurt her which hurts her more. There’s an explosion with their argument that leaves a stunned silence. Niki asks Wilbur to leave. He does so.
This leads to a Wilbur and Ranboo conversation where Ranboo tries to reason with Wilbur about Niki’s side. Wilbur brushes it off because much like the blue counterpart we all miss, he’s not a fan of the negative emotion. He tries to focus on the business etc and let’s slip that Dream has escaped somehow. Ranboo leaves. Wilbur is confused but distracted by a confrontation with Quackity.
Ranboo then starts his stream and he’s in the fucking panic room and he’s panicking because there are signs so many signs and they don’t make sense. Theres lesson rules, asking about the missing journal and it’s like every issue he’s ever faced is staring right back at him because Ranboo has never really resolved any issue, just pushed and moved on. He’s tried but that usually failed and for a while he’s ignored all the issues and here they are in front of him, all at one. A big volcanic eruption of anxiety and stress, and it ain’t sitting with him.
Dream appears. But is it really him? We never know because after a conflict and a back and fourth about everyone in Ranboo’s life eventually landing on a threat about Michael and Tubbo, he blacks out and the stream ends.
Quackity is livid with everything thats happening, the careful empire he’s building is falling apart and he’s shifting the blame around from person to person. He manipulates everyone around them into believing this is somehow their own fault and that they must make it up to him because he has been nothing but kind and loving to them. He gave them a place, a roof on their head when they had nothing. He misses out the parts where he insulted and or destroyed their homes, but it works and his employee “family” become the main bounty hunters for Dream, with Bad and Ant tagging along since they’re guards.
Now the streams relating to the manhunt displays everyones wants. They’re all doing this wanting something, and whilst it’s to gain Quackity’s favour back they’re all doing that for different reasons. Their motivations are somewhat different even if on the surface they are the same and so on the man hunts, because there will be many, this is slowly picked apart and through that the manipulation of Quackity is revealed and then we see a parrallel between Quackity and previous people in power where they start to get desperate to keep control over the thing they’ve created. Because that’s been one of (not the only) issues with every leader on the server, the control and their feeling of lack of, even if thats not truly the case. But you get these moments between all the characters where they’re trying to outwit one another, trying to figure it out without blatantly saying it. Maybe Foolish does. He’s a bit of a himbo.
Ponk always said he’d leave the door open for Sam and I truly think something happens, whether it be a look in the mirror with one of his guards going too far with someone or a conversation with Quackity where Quackity holds the mirror up to Sam maliciously, that causes him to hit the rock bottom and just break and I want that breakdown in front of Ponk. And I want Ponk not necessarily to give him the second chance off the bat but give him that peace offering, give him that hand to pull him up. I want him to take Sam to Niki and explain to Niki we’ve done bad things in the past, this is a safe haven and I believe Sam needs help and a place he can truly feel safe and for a moment Sam does and this begins his raid to redemption in gaining back the trust of the people in his lives. He becomes Tubbo 2.0 spying on Quackity like Tubbo did for Wilbur, but maybe less... bad.
But what of the Fiances? Wellllll,. With Dream escaping him and George meet in secret. George confesses he doesn’t believe it’s real and for a long time has been struggling with reality. He misses the early days, misses when they’d just have fun. Dream says he was having fun and George says I wasn’t. Dream shows true regret for George but says its too late now, can’t change the past. George agrees. Dream asks him what he’s going to do and he simply replies with “Sleep” Ending stream.
Sapanps stream is a lot more WE ARE GOING ON A DREAM HUNT WE’RE GOING TO CATCH A BIG ONE, I’M NOT SCARED. vibes. He’s gearing up, he’s suiting up and he’s saluting pets on the way. He made a promise and with everything else going on in his life, he’s ready to throw himself into a distraction. He tries to convince George to help him but he waves him off saying, what’s the point? and mumbles something about divine powers and dreams which Sapnap just shakes off. He tries to find Karl in Kinoko but instead comes across Quackity. They have a blow up about how They abandoned each other, both did wrong but neither see the other side of things and eventually he tells him to leave. Quackity says okay, and the place blows up. Foolish cries in the corner. All that heard work but the boss said so. Sapnap ends the whole thing saying at least he’s there for Karl and Quackity pauses and is like why? And Sapnap is all like you care. Just go, you’ve done enough damage, I can’t have you damaging him too. And after a little more but but but between the two, Quackity goes. Sapnap leaves the place to burn, going to find Dream and hopefully Karl on the way.
Karls in space. That’s where his latest travels have taken him and where the other side decided was his time to visit. Here I see a Wizard in Oz scenario where solutions to some issues will be revealed for Karl in relation to the other side. When it comes to his Dream SMP stuff, he starts confusing names and people more and Sapnap is worried about him, considering keeping him in a safe place. The only place that survived was the library with Karls books. Karl says he’ll stay there. Thats where the answers are anyway. Sapnap is unsure and gets bad vibes but is distracted by a lead on Dream and agrees, he tells him he’ll be back soon.
They don’t see each other for a long ass time
I’m not sure on the egg stuff but I do feel Niki and Puffy should have a conversation about all the shit thats happened and Puffy trying to help Niki and vice versa. I feel like Puffy should reach out to Foolish and try and comprehend what the fuck is he doing with Quackity. They have a little argument but it comes to a point where Puffy realises she cannot shield Foolish from harm and that her son ,just make his own decisions. All she can do is guide him where she can and hope that when it comes down to it he will make the right choice. She hopes she didn’t fail this dependant like she did with Dream her duckling. Though only she sees it as failure.
Jack and Niki finally talk. She goes searching for some things and comes to his new place, he tells her to fuck off and that he doesn’t need anyone. They all abandon him. Niki pretty much does the verbal equivalent of slap some sense into him as she and him discuss how he is not the centre of everything, how he is not the sun. She was hurting, and he didn’t bother, no instead they just fed off each others anger and once he couldn’t feed of her or anyone else he isolated himself. She tries to convince him there are better things in life, there are better ways to place your energy etc. A lot of healing talk with Jack being stubborn. Eventually Jack finds himself at the door of Quackity after sticking to stubbornness, not quite ready to heal and he becomes the next member of Las Nevadas. A big blow to Wilbur too.
They finally destroy the egg with magic. I dunno how but either destroy or hatch. Either or would be great. Red comes out the thing and I want a gay ass villain please. Bring it Red. Let’s go. Invite him to the server, bring the fire, bring the plant power Red. He can be the villain that unites everyone in a begrudging way. Like they all hate each other but fine i guess we’ll team to stop Red and Ant.
Skeppy’s dead.
Tubbo and Ranboo have a fight but Ranboo says “Weren’t we enough?” and it’s in relation to him and Michael (this happens before panic room). Thats when Tubbo realises where the wires got crossed and he immediately rectifies it but explaining he’s happy with the two of them but he wanted a job, something to work towards. Family wise he’s got it all, he’s content with it all but he wanted a project and one that didn’t incite violence. Fun rivalry sure, but he’s done with violence, he’s doesn’t want to add to the nightmares he already has. He wants competition but not one that will put all he loves in danger. So they talk it out and Ranboo feels more confident and Tubbo asks him to tell him if he ever takes anything too far because he can get a little carried away sometimes. Ranboo agrees and then they have a cute playdate with Michael. Then Ranboo does the thing with Wilbur and ends up in panic room.
Tommy and Tubbo discuss everything and lay it all out on the table because Tommy doesn’t want to be on the other side again with Tubbo. Tubbo doesn’t understand why everyone is making such a big deal about his burger business and Tommy tries to explain the issues with Quackity and the level of intensity he’s seen with Wilbur but Tubbo just laughs it off. They eventually talk about Ranboo and Tommy relents saying he likes Ranboo although he does sometimes get jealous of how Tubbo seems to have it all. Tubbo tells Tommy of his nightmares and so does Tommy to Tubbo. They come to an understanding with each other and understand that no matter how long they go apart, there is always a space shaped to fit them perfectly in their lives for them. Tubbo and Tommy then go play some pranks.
Wilbur is unhappy with the pranks and gives a lecture and they get into a fight. This leads to Wilbur talking man to man to Quackity. Theres some weird sexual tension. Once again they’re trying to outwit one another. That when we get to the crazy stuff.
And here’s where I get crazy with my stuff.
Ponk is digging in his lil cave when he accidentally breaks through to a random room buried deep underground. Tommy’s there trying to scam him out of something he has. Tubbo and Ranboo too. When they get to this room Ranboo thinking it’s the panic one and freaks out, but the others calm him down. Ponk thinking theres diamonds in the room storms ahead setting off some traps but surviving. Tubbo opens one of the chests and just says theres a bucket in there. Ponk pulls it out and says it has a named fish in it.
You see where I’m going.
They empty the bucket whilst asking what the fish is called. They are interrupted by a voice. It’s Sally.
Dream had captured her and bound her to a bucket and put her in the chest and hid her from Wilbur.
She has been released. She freaks out over how much time has past because for her nothing has changed at all. She thought it might have been a couple of hours or something since Dream pulled that prank on her but clearly not.
They all catch up and the season ends with Sally and Wilbur meeting in front of Quackity, Dream in the shadows and Sally and Wilbur turning to see Fundy who just freaks the fuck out.
Oh and just a side, Callahan is the last member of the syndicate and God of the server and is having fun playing with the mortals.
And then I have the next season planned out and how I’d end the whole thing but like until then. This is it. Mid Season to finale. How I picture things happening.
None of this will happen but isn’t it fun to imagine?
Just watched 9x03
The only thing that intrest me so far is Mei and Nathan.
Both of their storylines.
Poor Nathan and Newton. Both of them still dealing with trama from the accident. Newton wants nothing to do with him or anyone else, except Mei.
Also Mei is a fugitive!
I need/want more of her storyline. Can't wait until Allie meets Mei.
It was heartbreaking finding out the reason for Cooper's attitude problem.
He still is a little young to fully understand the reason why having measles didn't make him blind, but it did to Angela.
The world can be a cruel place.
Mike standing his ground with Bill, both with the saloon and office scenes was awesome!
Proving that he is not a push over. He is aware of what is happening in Hope Valley. Taking his job as Mayor seriously.
Bill needs to accept/acknowledge this.
Nathan asking Elizabeth to write in his book as 'The one that got away' then spelling out his name was a nice joking moment between E & N. Until L practically ran over to join them.
Treating Elizabeth like a prize Nathan is trying to steal from him. Triangle is over, but the writing seems to suggest otherwise. Very old and frustrating!
Seriously, L is 'Mr. Insecurity' whenever he sees E & N interacting with each other.
E needs to address this, but she probably won't. Not good for their relationship.
I'm glad the book received bad reviews. Elizabeth needs to be knocked off her pedestal every once and awhile.
Rosemary should know better than to sugarcoat it.
Elizabeth needs that dose of reality. Not everyone is obligated to like/love her story.
However, I wonder if the whole bad reviews dialogue is how the TPTB really feel about S8 reviews.
Tumblr media
I really like what they're doing with Nathan so far this season. Except for that awful mustache. It'll be fun to see how it goes when Allie is back (she isn't listed until episode 5). Nathan was the one that got away and thank god for that. He's getting the better treatment.
It's very strange to me how they're writing Lucas this season. Something just seems off but I don't care to talk about him unless people want to get into all of that. I'm just glad Nathan has a little distance from Elizabeth and that dumb book of hers. He hasn't even bothered to read it yet which just reminded me... that episode still that posted earlier didn't show up in the episode. We never had that little Faith and Nathan moment. Interesting.
I don't really mind the scenes with the three of them because Nathan is clearly done with it but it's unnecessary. It sucks more for the other team, honestly... which I take some joy in, not gonna lie.
I love Mike standing his ground. Bill has been so rude about it which is uncalled for. He won fair and square and he's going to do a good job and actually show people the respect they deserve.
They were definitely addressing the backlash with that dialogue. No doubt about it. Elizabeth talking about how it felt personal... I laughed. The kids thinking the book was awful was great as well. The townspeople didn't seem to like it very much. They mostly seemed to enjoy figuring out who the characters were based on which Elizabeth clearly did a lot of. Not very original. It was like some weird Hope Valley fanfiction.
If Glee did a Taylor Swift Tribute Episode...
Just my opinions, feel free to add on to them. I know I have some fellow gleek swifties following me. I’d love to hear your thoughts. Obviously they have to do some of the hits but I think some people would have some out of the box picks.
*This post assumes all Taylor songs are available to choose from as of May 14th 2021 but focuses on Taylor’s first 6 albums (if you want more glee and Taylor I have fics with that; LOVER and FOLKLORE) and takes liberties with where this episode’s placement is in terms of canon. But since it’s all made up anyway who cares (but Blaine’s involved so I guess season 3 idk).*
Okay, trying to do a full plot here (completely inspired by @kurtdeservesbetter head canon posts. I hope this lives up to her fabulous posts). This will be my version of glee so everyone gets solos and Rachel can’t hog the spotlight. Also, this is about to be super long (both post wise and episode wise).
Let’s open the first episode with
...Ready For It because the New Directions are in their reputation era. Santana does the opening cough centerstage. Everyone in black and/or camo green outfits (can you just see Kurt in a dark green bedazzled snake jacket, Santana in a black leather dress, and Tina digging out some goth clothes for people to borrow?), snakes everywhere, but probably no Karyn (she just wouldn’t fit on the auditorium stage). Santana takes the first verse but we have Blaine step up for verse 2. (I just love their friendship in the Michael tribute, cute little badasses are BACK. Also him singing “Burton to this Taylor” is such a Klaine thing to do).
Everyone is still dressed in their rep outfits but we’re in the choir room now. Mr. Schue is talking about why Taylor had to disappear and clap back with rep, how rough the industry is for women and tries to uplift the ladies in the room and encourage them to not silence their voices (cue snarky comment from Santana about Rachel needing to be silent).
Then, Mr. Schue goes on about how you can only understand how Taylor got to her rep era by studying her earlier music. So we have a performance of Tim McGraw. Simple, front of the choir room performance, maybe Puck does guitar, and sitting on stools.
Everyone is surprised to find out how pumped Sam is for this assignment but he is all over it. “It's about time we did some country in this room.” Cue Sam and Quinn at her locker talking about their ‘date’ last night, Sam’s all cute and teasing and Quinn is not into it. She tells him it was fun but she was wrong, they shouldn’t do this again. In turn, he does a wonderful performance of Bye Bye Baby. He thought it was more but clearly he’s “a part of her past.”
Then, we’re in the empty choir room. Tina and Mike are there. (I love their cutesy duets) They sing Everything Has Changed and it’s utterly adorable. Can’t you hear Mike asking Tina if she’s “good to go” like Ed does? And while we’re on the subject of cute duets and RED, we flash to the courtyard to see Santana and Brittany. They turn Stay Stay Stay into a duet. “I’ve been loving you for quite some time,” “before you I only dated self-indulgent takers who took all their problems out on me,” “no one else is gonna love me when I’m mad, mad, mad,” and “it’s occurring to me that I’d like to hang out with you for my whole life” it’s perfect for them. Adorable ladies kisses are had.
Let’s toss in some boy drama for fun. Idk shit about football but somehow Puck is praised by their coach over Finn, which gets him all pissy, and Puck’s upset and jealous because Finn is back with Quinn now (this is why Quinn shut Sam now earlier, she changed her mind). Can we say duet of Bad Blood? “So if you’re coming my way...just don’t.”
After their dramatics, we have a Brittany solo in the choir room. It’s after school at this point (or whenever glee club is). Brittany does You’ll Always Find You Way Back Home.
When she finishes Mr. Schue tries to explain that it’s a Hannah Montana song. Britt injects that it’s confusing how she’s really Miley Cryus “like how can you be two people at once?”. Before Mr. Schue can continue, Kurt pipes up “you never specified that the songs had to be sung by Taylor Swift, just that they were her songs.” Mercedes adds, “yeah, Mr. Schue, Taylor wrote that song.” Mr. Schue concedes that he has once again been outwitted by Kurtcedes. The friends do their little hand shake thing.
With a sigh, Mr. Schue asks Mike if he’s ready to go and Mike asks to take things to the auditorium for some dancing room. Everyone’s on stage with him and it’s kind of a group number but Mike is the focus. It’s Shake It Off. All inspired by the music video. He’s tried to fit in elsewhere (i.e. football, with the smart kids, etc..) but he’s really himself in glee when he’s dancing.
Part 2 of Taylor Tribute Episodes
We begin with an ALL GIRL NUMBER of A Place In This World. Just because.
Glee is dismissed and we zoom in on Artie. He’s watching Tina with Mike and Brittany with Santana. Both Tina and Britt have broken his heart by this point. So, he’s rolling down the halls singing A Perfectly Good Heart. While Artie’s soloing, we cut to Rachel watching Finn and Quinn chatting. Artie’s song playing over this scene. Rachel is feeling similar to him at the moment.
She’s pretty sure Finn dumped her to be with Quinn again even though Kurt and Blaine told her they saw Quinn and Sam at the movies last night together making out in the back row. Fine, if that’s how he’s going to be, she doesn’t need him anyway. Cue Mr. Perfectly Fine. Uber dramatic solo performance walking around McKinley’s halls watching Finn and Quinn together ending in the auditorium alone. (see what I did there, both broken hearted peeps singing a song with Perfectly in it (this was not at all planned, actually, happy accident))
After some good old heartbreak, we have Kurt and Blaine on screen. Blaine walks into the auditorium to see Kurt sitting on the edge of the stage. “What’s all the fuss?” he asks from the door. Kurt had texted him “EMERGENCY.” The band starts to play and Kurt just starts singing, Enchanted. It’s time to profess their love for each other, just like they sing Perfect together in the car, this duet needs no audience. Blaine catches up and sings while walking towards his boyfriend. It’s very reminiscent of past New Directions competitions where they come in from the back and make their way to the stage. “Wondering if you knew I was enchanted to meet you?” Kurt and Blaine both know the answer to that question now but just a few months ago they were both wondering that exact thing.
They kiss before we cut to Kurt and Blaine walking hand in hand into the choir room where everyone else is already. Mr. Schue is praising the performances thus far and of course asks Rachel if she’s ready to solo (some practice for her completion solo). This causes an uproar from Mercedes and Santana. Another classic argument of how she gets too many solos. Mr. Schue tries to shut them both down but Santana tells Rachel to watch her back, and we get three very different reactions to this.
All three girls storm out.
First, we visit Mercedes alone in the courtyard. This solo is all about being hurt over this great thing in her life (glee) and her being denied happiness within that club. Thus, Cold As You. (mostly to indulge myself because she’d blow us away with this song).
Next, Rachel in the auditorium. A huge bridge on stage (very Speak Now Tour of her), belting out Better Than Revenge. Santana’s dropped the last straw (the humiliation, name calling, Finn at one point and now solos,) it’s too much this time.
And finally, Santana walking around McKinley, showing us flashes of Rachel ‘outshining’ her and the rest of glee and Mr. Schue being unfair, while singing Look What You Made Me Do.
Tina walks out at the same time as Rachel, Mercedes, and Santana but no one seems to put two and two together. She feels just as underutilized as the latter two do. She ends up in an empty classroom and sings The Outside. “Nobody ever lets me in” and “on the outside looking in.”
Once the 3, err 4, divas have left the room, Finn sticks up for Rachel. Quinn, of course, has something to say about this along the lines of “you always defend her.” Finn, intimated by her ‘scary Quinn’ fumbles and blurts “because she’s my girlfriend” WHICH IS NOT TRUE AT THIS POINT. Quinn dumps him on the spot, cuts quickly to Blaine and Kurt sharing some ‘oh my god, can you believe this’ expressions, and vanishes from the room.
By this point, Rachel is long gone from the auditorium but the bridge is still there.
Here’s where we go way off script but imagine, Quinn has decided to just quit boys. They’ve all failed her anyway, she’s better off being alone. She walks up the bridge and thinks to herself “god Rachel’s so dramatic, where did this thing even come from” before it hits her “fuck, I’m as bad as Finn. I want her.” Then, she starts singing Clean to herself in the auditorium, likely tearing up throughout and ending with a good cry. (Because Dianna would DELIVER with Clean.)
While Quinn is having a sexuality crisis, the rest of glee is still happening. They’re discussing upcoming competition and debating solos and songs.
Kurt’s all: “Mr. Schue, if I may” and performs a lovely rendition of Call It What You Want. Those opening lines are too good. “My castle (ie McKinley) crumbled overnight, brought a knife to a gun fight (ie couldn’t fight off Dave Karofsky), “I’m doing better than I ever was ‘cause my baby’s fit like a daydream,” and “at least I did one thing right.” When he’s done, Blaine’s a mess in the back of the choir room, and Mr. Schue says: “not really what we’re looking for but very nice, Kurt” however, Kurt’s too busy sitting beside Blaine teasing him about blushing.
Then, the missing girls return to the room having sung out their emotions. Quinn, having realized her feelings for Rachel, ends up soloing You Belong With Me to the New Directions in the choir room. Odd looks all around, no one knows what’s up with her and why does she keep glancing at Rachel? (Faberry just fit so well I had to add it, don’t know if I’m a shipper or not but it’s here now) (also thanks to @spicygemini for pointing out the obvious “Quinn would have ate YBWY”).
Mr. Schue wants to move the group to the audition to perform their final number of the Taylor Swift tribute well but Tina asks to sing first. He’s surprised but allows it, taking a seat with the rest of the New Directions.
Tina sings Beautiful Ghosts. “Watch from the dark, wait for my life to start” because New Directions is refusing to use her talents AGAIN. She’s singing this to Rachel and the girls who were in the Treble Tones. Because she absolutely SMASHES this number, the glee kids agree she gets solo for their next competition (and they deliver on that promise).
To conclude Part 2 of the Taylor tribute episode, we have a group performance of Long Live. “One day we will be remembered”, “all the years we stood there on the sidelines wishing for right now”, “for a moment a band of thrives in ripped up jeans got to rule the world” ie wining completions, “when they look at the pictures please tell them my name...”
HSMTMTS REWATCH
SEASON TWO
EPISODE 8 - Most Likely To
• Ashlyn trying her best to be fully supportive of Big Red to make sure he knows how important he is to her
• Gaston is done so well! The casting for this was perfect! Again I would've watched this play if it was real.
• Seb is once again adorable
• Ricky was simply asking if the Instagram account was to 'un-glass' herself. He straight up asked because he wanted a straight up answer. I understand her actual name is Nina, but the attitude she gave was pretty unnecessary. Then she brings to conversation to her channel, I see she was trying to make a point. But it also feels like she was just trying to switch the conversation instead of giving him a straight up answer.
• Nini didn't learn anything from last semester. Don't leave your phone with him!
• Ricky's immediate regret. And That's when he knew he fucked up.
• Gina: snorts while laughing EJ: no one heard that
• At least Carlos realizes he made it worse when talking about Chip and the roles.
• Ashlyn was so clearly being supportive of Big Red but knowing what she should be supportive of. You can totally tell she had no bad intentions behind telling him to take the test again.
• It sucks that Ricky's test basically said he had no profitable skills. I'm curious on what it really said.
• Here's the fight here we go.
Nini he never said to leave your dream behind. He never said that you need to come home and he didn't force you to do that either. You kept asking how he felt that entire day and he did. It was simply that. You bringing this up now feels out of place.
Ricky is right about how she waited last minute to tell him she was leaving
Nini didn't seem to care about getting the role until she found out Ricky had a small doing in it. This also feels so random it had nothing to do with her leaving for YAC it feels like she couldn't find an argument to defend herself there because he was right so she said the first thing that came to her that she saw was wrong. Again she might have been a little upset when she found out about Ricky's little push, but she is making it out to be as if she wasn't initially excited when she got the part and making it seem like she was forced.
Ricky then calls her out on the song yet again and she finally doesn't deny it
But she tries to pass some blame about the song onto him by saying he was okay with it being cut. Instead of properly taking credit. She only cares about her song then she does about how he feelings about it just like the last eepisode.
Ricky mentions what he just found before the fight when she said she didn't come back for him.
What exactly did Nini think was the right thing? Genuine question can someone answer. She kept secrets from him even when he was looking for straight answers and she danced around them.
Ricky saying "So Was I!" Is the first time he yelled that entire fight, it was mainly Nini raising her voice.
So something I realized rewatching this fight is that Ricky would call her out on stuff and she would deflect onto something else.
• They brought back Gina's knitting
• Cute portwell moment
• The breakup was heartbreaking. Josh and Olivia did great in this scene. I just wish we got better closure over the whole song thing. Nini never properly took credit over the fact that it was about them.
• Howie sounds absolutely amazing in If I Can't Love Her
• Mr. Mazzara so clearly likes Miss. Jenn. EJ and Gina was cute. Ashlyn and Big Red was perfect.
• EJ talking to her dad was a good thing they showed.
• Ricky breaks my heart and I love how Big Red and Ashlyn stayed with him and was there for him. I love this trio a lot
• Nini trying to distract herself with her account.
• Someone brought it to my attention how Ricky would have to sing this song for the play and god I wish we saw that, but at the same time I'm happy we didn't because that would've been too crushing. But also probably helped with the Menkies a lot.
Station 19 rewatch: 4x14
Going to try to do another rewatch before my family wakes up. We have a lot to do today and there is a dark cloud over the house after loaing our cat this week. Here's hoping i can get through one of my favorite episodes before they get up.
Surrera is so cute here and the whole food thing, like girl where is our payoff on this baby that was so clearly teased. Or is there another medical condition that could be blamed on her excessive eating.
Im so glad maya and andy are friends again. I loge their friendship.
I'm glad andy acknowledges that getting married doesnt fix things; but i worry that if maya and carina hit a rough patch, andy will remind maya of this conversation or use her own issues with sullivan and their marriage as an i told you so.
Danielle is beautiful but does anyone else think she lost weight, random question but just looking at her in her uniform there she seems smaller and it worries me. Didnt really notice last time i watched this episode but am i alone in this.
Oh carina baby you so dont want to go. I just want to hug you.
Jack is so cute, he deserves a family so much but i really do fear he'll be killed off.
Im surprised ben reached out to Sullivan instead of dean.
I love this outfit on maya. Carina your girl is flirting with you and thinking of happier times, engage with her.
I love that maya opens up with carina about her dad and the protests and the happenings in the world with him. It shows so much growth and im here for it. Also anyone else annoyed that one carina answered gabriella's phone call when maya is opening up to her and two that she didnt turn it off for their last few hours together.
The look of like disappointment/devestation on maya's face when carina answers the call and walks away from her is too much hurt.
So sad that bailey isnt there and that ben is alone for even a second of this.
I'm glad andy and sullivan came to be there with ben. Like i get why they wanted andy but im sad after ben and Dean's episode dean wasnt there.
Oh jack, i dont even know what to say besides oh jack lol.
The drama with trash girl is too much lmao. I know its important for jack/inara but its just too much.
Carina packing up her knives being a trigger for maya like she's leaving forever is heartbreaking.
Carina snapping at maya hurts, dont be mean to baby. Also the kitchen sign is totally carina's doing and though she hadnt confided in maya yet that she is her home its a dead giveaway.
I really need screen grabs of the changing words on the sign.
The kids talk, the coming out talk and the marriage talk are all things that should not be done while packing or doing anything else.
Wait it totally sounded like she said "it felt pregnant" lmao or i just have babies on the brain.
Now carina being flirty and maya not reciprocating.
Maya you shouldve pushed the marriage talk now if it was what you really wanted. Instead of letting carina drop the i never wanted to get married bomb and walk away.
Andy and ben together, this friendship is beautiful. I feel like it took several seasons for ben to really get in good the team. Im trying to think of other moments besides the prt support and such when he really connected with folks before this season and none come to mind. He has been an outlier from my memory, tell me im wrong with examples please.
Lmao "you slept with my wife which means we are in a pod", things a pandemic makes funny.
Thats just wrong, giving gibson shit still. Dont hit the puppy with the newspaper when he's doing nothing wrong.
Once again with gabriella, seriously carina turn off your phone and be present with maya and maya alone.
Maya's jealousy is everything. This argument ugh, so good and just the tip of the iceberg.
I hope that maya does take the month break and the months after to really get to know the us immigration system and what it will take for carina to become an american citizen as well as learn more italian. I dont need her fluent but id love to see her use some italian with carina. She lost her brother who she spoke to in her native tongue itd be nice for her to gain that in her wife.
I love how carina stops herself as she raises her voice at maya, like she realizes it may be triggering to maya. I really do think the show and actresses put in a lot in this episode to show how well they know each other and have grown. I feel like they talk more even if we dont see it and maya is working on her issues with carina's love and support. I also do love how this argument ends though ;)
Once again maya opening up and finally carina is there and not sidetracked. And its nice carina opens up as well.
Ben's dream with the different versions of himself and his mom is funny and heartbreaking.
Joey in the dream lmao.
The nice thing about ben is if he gets hurt on the job and cant be a firefighter anymore he has other professions to fall back on.
Oh jack. I just want you to get your happy ending.
I still think its so weird to be talking about jack after they had sex but im glad they are in a place that is so comfortable and can laugh about him.
Once again another bomb dropped, kids. This is something that needs to be discussed properly.
Oh maya dont drop the marriage bomb like that. And i guess i dont underatand the outrage of the "just because", like why would carina think it was anything but that when it was dropped on her like that and after she said she didnt want to get married. This fight is so much about misunderstandings and hurtful comments.
I get how maya's fear gets the best of her here especially after carina said they just moved in together because they didnt want to be apart (asif that is a bad thing) and it was bureaucracy.
And i can understand why maya's fear hurts carina but they both needed to take a minute to breathe and try to talk it out.
I do like when carina tells maya to breathe, again like she knows her triggers and feels maya is on the verge of a panic attack.
If carina felt she married maya when she moved in i really dont see the harm in making it official. Would her having been moved out in italy for 6 months or more have felt like a divorce. I really need to know more about her logic here.
I agree why not just do it.
You've both said enough carina. I hate that she just walks away, so un carina like.
How did jack end up at the hospital? Was he called or what?
Andy is such a good friend this episode, checking on everyone.
Gabriella is so right noone wants to be proposed to the way maya kind of did. Like i cant help but wonder how carina would've taken a true proposal.
Im so glad gabriella spoke some truth to carina and turned her around on the marriage idea.
If we let the wrong decisionss rule how we live our lives things in the world would be so different. Less babies possibly and fewer marriages among other things.
Once again andy being a good friend this episode.
If carina hadnt shown up im curious what maya's next move wouldve been after talking to andy.
Love the proposal and love how its carina who announces they are getting married.
