Could I request a little something with Ghost in which reader (soldier from the 141 also) and him fuck casually “without catching feelings” and in a mission she gets shot and thinks she’s going to die, ghost freaks out and she tells him: ‘you know what I think? I think you’re gonna have to find another fuck buddy’, and he confesses that he had loved her all along?
Hello! You most certainly can! Really putting Simon through the trenches, huh? I hope this is akin to what you were looking for! Enjoy 🖤

“You’ll live, just sit still for fuck sake,” Ghost barks demandingly as you feel his palm press against your hand, pressing your wound. There’s an edge to his voice, one you’ve never heard before. It’s… different. Different from his usual, cool demeanour you are often subjected to out in the field. There are no quips, no one-liners. He almost seems agitated with you. At everything around you.
Well. You have the perfect remedy for that.
“That your professional opinion, sir? Because from where I’m sitting”—you suck in a sharp breath, clenching your teeth as you almost keel over in pain, exhaustion, and whatever the hell this feeling is—“because—fuck—I think you’re gonna have to find a new fuck buddy,” you hiss, attempting to chuckle. You don’t want him to be like this with you. Not in your final moments. You want him to call you a moron, and make a joke at your expense. Call you thick-headed and stubborn. Something, anything. You think hearing the subtle lilt in his voice as he cracks a joke would be a pleasant thing to hear in your final moments.
“That’s not funny.”
You attempt to raise your head to look at him, though the blood oozing down your eye makes it difficult to see much of anything. You had almost forgotten the nasty scar running across your forehead. Almost. Adrenaline does the damndest thing to your senses, you haven’t even noticed he’s been wrapping your waist the best he could, to keep the blood from pouring further.
“That’s not fuckin’ funny, I—” Ghost swallows a breath through gritted teeth. His features are hidden beneath the skull mask you’ve become so familiar with. It’s fitting, almost, dying in the face of death itself—a skull. Your eyes feel heavy as you envision what it would look like. Would he carry you across the threshold back to the team? You, bloodied and dead in his arms, and him a visage of death? Carrying you to the afterlife?
You let out a gasp as Ghost violently shakes you awake, barking your name like it was an order, like it was the worst thing he ever had on the tip of his tongue.
You want to stay awake, but it’s so, so difficult.
The hardness of the wall doesn’t feel cold anymore. You feel lighter—lightheaded. Teetering on the brink of nothingness, on the lack of life.
“I don’t fuckin’ want someone else.” His voice is wavering, and his eyes are unfocused. Or maybe that’s just you slipping in and out of consciousness. “So stay. Awake.” Ghost—Simon—steels his voice, jaw clenching, and you can’t help but cough a chuckle. He still orders you around, even when you're half a foot in the grave. Some things never change.
“Sorry, sweetheart,” you murmur, eyes fluttering closed. “Orders—“ you wheeze a breath, brows pinching together in pain, “orders denied.” Though not for lack of trying.
You can’t feel your legs anymore. This is it, you think, and you will the last portion of your energy to lift a hand to his masked face. “Tell the team… tell the team m’sorry.” You want to kiss him goodbye. You want to feel the rough texture of his stubble against your skin. “M’sorry, Simon.” Your voice is choked with emotions. You only call him by his name when you’re teasing him, when you’re testing his limits. When he silently knocks on your door after midnight and you welcome him inside with a purr his name. Better times, you think as the thumping of your racing heart gets louder in your ears.
You don’t want to die.
You don’t want to leave him alone.
Your palm leaves a bloodied trail down the white of his mask as your hand falls.
“Listen to me,” he all but hisses, cradling your face in his hands in an attempt to keep you from slumping over. “Don’t fuckin’ do this to me. Don’t—” His thumbs clumsily dig into your cheeks as you wheeze another breath, doing your best to keep your attention on him.
Whatever he’s saying is drowned out by the rush of blood in your ears, by your own heart. Had you the strength, you would tell him his mask was muffling him, coax him to lift it enough to kiss you.
He always had a hard time saying no to you.
Your surroundings blur, the area around you slowly being overtaken by a creeping shadow. You feel him gently nudging your face in an attempt to lure your attention back to him, the roughness of his voice echoing in one ear, falling out the other. His tactical gear easily blends into this unfamiliar shadow, and soon, the only thing you can make out is the paleness of the bloodied mask.
He just needs you to stay awake a little longer.
He’d contacted the team as soon as he’d found you, contacting base soon after. He can’t lose you, not like this, not when he finally found you. Somewhere in his heart, he can’t help but think of this as some sort of divine punishment. Cruelly taking you away from him the moment he started caring for you more than he should—more than he is allowed to.
The moment he prolonged his stays in your bed to bask in your company. When he sought you out on his own accord without guising it under sex and stringless fun.
His hand cups your cheek as his thumb wipes away a spot of blood, desperately attempting to catch your gaze despite your lack of response. "I love you," his tone is soothing, mellow. "Don't leave me like this," he says, pleading for you to hear his words. Simon is not a begging man, but for you he will crawl on his knees. He will pray to every God imaginable, and take any devil's deal. "Stay awake a little longer." He drops his words to a hoarse whisper as he continues, "That’s an order lieutenant.”
You feel a spike of pain in your heart, and then, nothing.
That’s funny, you think in an attempt to cling to coherency, it sounded like he said he loved me. And the thought makes you want to smile. Your heart is pulling tricks on you even in your final moments.
Maybe in the next life.

You alarm clock rudely wakes you up with an incessant buzz. Hitting it a bit to hard it falls off your night stand making you groan into the sunlit room. You sit up with squinted eyes not noticing that Hazel was still in the dorm. “Well good morning sleepy head.” She smiles at your groggy state.
You wake up just enough to snatch the alarm clock of the ground and punch it off. “Ughhh good morning.” Your eyes finally adjust to the light fully taking Hazel in. She was still in her pjs wearing a white wife pleaser and low waisted grey sweats. “Shouldn’t you be in class right now?” You ask her confused as to why she was skipping her morning class.
“I should but Anya had me up till 2.” She clasps her hands around the back of her neck. She still had her tired raspy voice probably having woken up a couple minutes before you. “Oh god spare me.” Suppressing an eye roll you got up from the bed and grabbed your towel, getting ready to go to the showers. Anya pissed you off to no end.
And it wasn’t because she was dating the person you wanted more than anything (maybe a little bit). It was her glares and her back handed compliments that she gave you any chance she could. How she would snap at people over anything and everything she was extremely abrasive.
Your friends tried to explain that that was just her personality but you didn’t function like that you were quiet and sweet. Both didn’t mix well so she tended to single you out. Always trying to push you out of your comfort zone by teasing and getting a rise out of you. You can barley ask a waiter for ketchup let alone defend yourself. But you refuse to tell Hazel about her behavior because she was happy. She was so sweet to Hazel and that made you most livid.
“Not like that y/n we went out for our 4 months.” She grinned at your scrunched face. “How fun nothing says I love you like sleep deprivation.” She raises her eyebrows at your grouchy mood with a soft smile still on her lips.
“Oh wow someone’s moody, anyway Josie was texting the group chat about a going to the bar tonight are you gonna come?” Hazel asks you hoping you’d say yes because you never go out. “Mmm I’ll think about it Haze Ill probably have a lot of work to do.” Hazel sighs. “Pleaseeee you never come out with us anymore.” She give you a pleading look. “I have a lot of today I’ll let you know if I’m up for it.” You giggle at her childish tone and pat her shoulder then leave the dorm.
You let Hazel know you were coming and put your phone down and change out of your work clothes. Your style has always been a bit more grungy and masculine only really dressing a bit feminine for special events or outings.
You put on your favorite baggy black jeans that hung off your hips so beautifully. Then put on a spaghetti strap tank top and a long sleeve over it made of black mesh and lace that was completely see through. You left your hair messy and smudged black shadow and liner on your eyes. Finishing off your outfit by putting on your black docs.
Hazel was already with the group so you drove yourself to Josie, PJ, and Isabel’s shared apartment. You found your way to the apartment door knocking timidly. You rock back and forth on your feet waiting for someone to open the door.
When someone finally does it’s her. She doesn’t talk to you directly. “Y/n is here now guys can we finally leave?” She says not letting you in yet talking to YOUR friends behind the door.
Hazel quickly comes to the door and smiles brightly at you pulling you in by your hand . “Oh wow someone’s trying to get lucky tonight.” Hazel softly says nudging you. This earns you a glare from Anya.
The group sits in the living room area to catch up before heading out. Everyone’s talking but your mind is elsewhere. You’ve always been the quieter one of the group so your lack of conversation goes unnoticed.
You can’t help but stare at Hazel and Anya. A deep grief blooms in your chest. Hazels arm around Anya protectively. Anya tucks a piece of hair behind Hazels ear and kissed her on the cheek. Hazels face becomes so soft and loving it tears you apart wishing so bad that you were Anya. Hazels hand travels to her waist to pull her closer just to top it off.
You look at Anya for a bit taking in how perfect and pretty she is. She’s so feminine and put together. She was everything you would never be. She had on a full face of makeup that was perfectly done and a dress that hugged in all the right spots. She was an absolutely gorgeous girl.
You were only pulled out of this haze by Josie putting her hand on your knee. Knowing exactly what was going through your mind. You had drunkenly told her about your 2 year long crush on Hazel in a club bathroom. You look back at her with glazed over eyes and squeeze her hand as a silent thank you.
“Are you guys ready to get wasted cause I am.” Josie announced and pulled you up with her off the couch. She looks to you and smiles trying to change the mood that’s setting in. You smile back but felt suffocated anyway and had to leave. Everyone excitedly agrees and heads over the bar.
This bar was THE bar all the college kids go there to find hookups and get drunk. The group gets drinks to loosen up but you decide to hold off for tonight. You let your friends make you dance their tipsy state amusing you. You move timidly at first but the encouragement from your friends has you swaying to the music.
You danced with Britney trying to absorb her confidence in some way. When Hazel comes over to playfully dance with you twirling you around and giggling. She saw your shyness and was trying to remedy it.
She made you sway with her hands on your waist. It was all friendly and playful and you were best friends so it wasn’t unusual behavior.
Nonetheless you felt your face get warmer at her proximity. Anya was staring from the bar after telling Hazel she didn’t feel like dancing. Anya really thought Hazel was just going to sit there and watch all of her friends dance instead.
Anya quickly changed her mind though. Seeing you too make her jealous. Hopping out of her seat and waltzing over to shove you away from Hazel with feigned innocence. Hazel mouths sorry towards you and it was your turn to go to the bar and watch from a far. You get yourself a coke to sip on since you would be driving later, not much of a drinker anyway.
You sit there mindlessly scrolling your phone trying to keep yourself occupied. Watching them still it hurts your chest. Hazel holds Anya close she has her face in the crook of her neck holding her from behind. It was a real sight. Especially when Hazel looked so good. Her cropped white tee and baggy jeans left just enough midriff exposed to mesmerize you.
Josie comes to sit besides you breaking your trance. “I hate her.” Is all she says and she looks from Anya to you. “Me too.” You both laugh together. “Yeah she’s kind of a bitch isn’t she.” Josie remarks pressing her lips together and furrowing her brows.
“Yeah she’s something.” You huffed and smiled brighter grateful for your friendship .That’s when Josie gets a certain look that you know to well. “You wanna smoke?” She flashes you a wide grin and wiggles her eyebrows. “Oh god yes.” You take one last sip of your coke and follow her outside.
You and Josie walk back into the bar in a hazy giggle. After a shit talking session that had you loosing your shit and gasping at gossip. You go to dance again and you notice Anya arguing with Hazel.
Anya rolled her eyes and says something that made Hazels face contort into hurt. Hazel says something in a pout then storms off in the other direction. “Jesus they do this shit every fucking night bro.” Josie rolls her eyes following Hazel to the bathroom. Every night? You though to yourself. You were under the impression everything was great?
The anger taking over your body doesn’t let you ponder over it more. Body moving without you telling it too, you yank her shoulder to face you. She was taller than you and definitely stronger then you but you didn’t care. The face Hazel made at Anya was enough motivation. You could’ve fought 10 frat boys and won.
“Hey! What did you say to her.” You could stand her being mean to you but being mean Hazel was absolutely not allowed. “I don’t think that’s any of your business y/n.”
She looks you up and down. “I suggest you fuck off before I tell her your little secret.” She gets closer to you only inches from your face. “What do you mean secret?” You started getting nervous. She grabs your face in her hand and looks in your scared eyes. “Your in love with her. It’s pathetic really the way you gawk at her.” Her acrylics are digging into your cheeks. Frantically staring at her in disbelief.
“Start keeping your distance y/n, Im not worried about you im just annoyed that you THINK that could happen. Like she’d ever be into someone like you.”
She let’s go of your face lightly tapping it. You feel tears fill your eyes about to break the barrier of your water line. “I-i… f-fuck you Anya.” Tears cascade down your face. Anya just vocalized your internal thoughts for the past 2 years now your sure she’s some demon from hell that crawled out to make your life miserable.
Just as Hazel and Josie come out of the bathroom they see you walk quickly out of the bar. Hazel feels completely exhausted, this was supposed to be a fun night you FINALLY agreed to have fun and hang out again.
Hazel follows you out just catching up to you when you get to the door of your car. “Y/n! Wait! Please, where are you going it’s barley been an hour?” She looks at you confused eye brows pushed together and hands on her hips. “I’m tired Hazel.” You can’t face her you can’t stop the tears rolling down.
You open the door but Hazel puts a firm hand down closing it again getting frustrated at your short response. You finally look her in the eyes and she takes you in. “Holy shit y/n are you ok?” She goes to put a hand on your shoulder but you flinch. Her face becomes even more worried than before. Staring at the streaks running down your cheeks.
“Please Hazel I just wanna go home. I’ll talk to you tomorrow ok.” Hazel moves her hand from the door and lets you open it. “We will talk about this tomorrow?” She ask you to get more confirmation. “We will.” You reassured her knowing talking was the last thing you were gonna do.
You drove back to your dorm still feeling shocks of fear pulse through you at the thought of Hazel knowing you were completely in love with her. Losing her would do more than wreck you. She’s been your best friend for what felt like forever.
Finally inside your dorm you rip your clothes off and put you pjs on as fast as you could. You didn’t bother to take your make up off and fell asleep as soon as your head hit the pillow. Thank god for the weed.
Your woken up by the jiggling of keys. You turn to look at the time and you way overslept. “Oh your up.” She closes the door lightly walking over to your bed. She puts a brown paper on your nightstand and smiled softly at you. “I got you a bagel from the place we like, I made sure they put extra cheese and hash browns. And I got you salsa.” The same sadness you felt the night before washed over you. Her sweetness makes you fall apart in more ways then one.
“Thanks Hazel.” You can only produce a small awkward smile. “Do you wanna talk about last night?” She carefully sat next to you and put her hand on your back, rubbing up and down. “I’m ok Hazel, really it’s fine.” You brush her off.
“I can’t help you if you push me away y/n. You’ve been really distant recently I’m worried. I-i mean did I do something?” She spoke softly and looked at your face silently begging for you to look her in the eyes instead of the floor.
But you can’t you start to cry before you can even get a word out. “No you didn’t do anything I’m sorry. Last night Anya was just really mean. Well she’s mean every time I’m around her but I-I’m sorry.” You spoke through tears and hiccups not even knowing even know why you were saying sorry. Regretting everything you just said. You knew Anya was going to tell her—everything was going to be ripped away from you.
Hazels face contorted into anger and shock. You were petrified that you had made her angry at you. “Anya did this.” Her tone was steady and dark. You nodded. Her jaw was clenched and her fist balled breathing heavily. She grabs her keys and opens the door. “I’ll be back in 30 minutes.” She shut the door behind her harder than she meant too. She quite literally couldn’t control her anger. She liked Anya, a lot actually, but the fighting has gotten to much. Hazel could handle a bit of sass from her here and there. But knowing she hurt you had Hazel enraged.
It had been 45 minutes of you sitting there bouncing your leg. Shaking anticipating the consequences of your breakdown. You tried watching a movie to get your mind off of your situation but you couldn’t focus. The bagel on your nightstand making you nauseous just by being there. Frustrated tears forcing there way up every once in a while.
You hear the knob jiggle and keys. Your immediately alerted. Hazel calmly walks through the door and moves to where you’ve come to stand infront of your bed. She takes your face into her soft hands pulling you into the deepest kiss you’ve ever had. When she finally lets you catch your breath she looks in your watery eyes .
“Why did you never tell me.” She whispers looking over your post cry face. Your lips puffy and pink frustrated cheeks. You notice that her lip is busted and she has a mark on her cheek that is definitely going to turn into a bruise. “Y-you aren’t angry? Are you ok?” You started to tear up again from the relief.
“No baby i could never be angry at you. And I’m fine just thought I should put what I’ve learned in my boxing class to use.” As she’s wiping your tears way, your remember, her and Anya took the same boxing class; thats actually how they met. Hazel looked angry but you didn’t think she was THAT angry. “I didn’t think you thought I was pretty.” She pulls you closer to her. “What! Why is that?” She questioned from the crook of your neck. “Cause you date girls like Anya I didn’t think I was your type.”
Hazel suddenly starts placing kisses on your neck. She realizes she has you turning into putty in her hands, like she always wanted. Everything about you was captivating to her in this moment. The way you smelled, the way your skin felt, how she could hear your breathing pick up with every kiss.
Your heart was racing you couldn’t believe this was actually happening. “Your not gonna have to worry about Anya anymore honey, I promise. Your the only girl I want. And your sooo my type.” Hazel sucks a bruise with no warning into your neck and licks over it. “Oh my god Hazel please.” Your hand reaches up into her hair your fingers tangled in her silky brown tresses. “Please what baby?”
Your face got impossibly redder whole body on fire unsure of how to answer her. Feeling the way Hazels hands roamed you made your head spin. You just couldn’t take it anymore pulling her up lightly by the hair to have her look at you.
“I need you.”
You make sure you say it clearly. Hazels eyes become more lidded than before overcome with lust. She pushed you backwards towards her bed until you fall into her sheets.
“Y-your so beautiful.” Shes stammering seeing you laid out in HER bed. She connects your lips again teeth clashing and tongues fighting for dominance.
You want to make her feel as good as she’s making you feel. Her knee comes between your legs giving you relief from pulsing heart beat that’s developed.
Your grinding on each other urgently. Years of pent up sexual frustration and longing being released.
You try to keep up with her kisses the best you can. The friction making you lose control. Completely entangled in each other, hands trying to feel every part of her.
Exchanging heavy breaths and soft whimpers. It was frenzied and sloppy it was the hottest thing you’ve ever experienced.
You tug her shirt over her head. She does the same for your exposing your bare chest. “Fuck.” Her brows pushing together as she feels her arousal pooling in her boxers. She can’t help but gently thumb your hard nipple trailing kisses from your collar bone to your breast.
She took the soft flesh into her mouth leaving hot kisses. Her hand massaged the other. Her lips wrapped around your nipple and released it with a pop. You let out a strained moan.
Her hand traveled to the waist band of your pajamas pants. Teasing you with her fingers moving back and forth under the fabric.
“Can I take these off.” She ask you her eyes begging you to say yes, desperate to see all of you. “Please” You nodded and she gently undressed you leaving your skin vulnerable to cool air for your dorm.
It doesn’t matter though, because Hazels warm body is pressed to you in a second. Her hand trails from your breast to your hip slowly, keeping your attention.
“Do you know how long Ive wanted you?” You shake your head, voice escaping you in the moment. Her finger slides through your folds, your wetness sending waves of pleasure and confidence through her. The sound alone made her ache.
“Way to fucking long.” She slips a finger in your soaked needy hole. You let out an open mouthed exhale. She slips in another finger. “Fuck! Mm-n!”
Her fingers stretched you out and the sensation was mind numbing. An endless repeat hazelhazelhazelhazel. Was all you could think about. Her fingers curled at a slow pace hitting just the right spot. Working your clit with her thumb at the same time.
“Im I making you feel good honey?” Her voice was gentle and attentive. The way she was grinding down on your thigh mixed with your pretty noises was making her go insane. Your moans start to get more frequent. As you were embarrassingly close to release so soon. “S-so good Hazel.”
“Talk to me sweetheart. This is all mine now right?” Hazel questions you her pace picking up and mouthing your tits. “All yours all yours all yours all…” You mumbled to her as your eyes flutter. “That’s right honey.” She kept a rough tempo leaving marks on your chest until you were finally coming undone under her.
Shes watches as your orgasm possesses you. Moaning her name as you arch your back grinding yourself against her fingers. “Yeah honey just like that cum for me baby.” She doesn’t stop till your squirming from overstimulation.
You catch your breath for a second before becoming focused. You didn’t want your fatigue from your orgasm to keep you from pleasing her. Hazels already pulling you into another deep kiss like before.
“I want to make you feel good now Hazel.” She seemed a little shocked. As you think about the girls she’s hooked up that’s probably not the kind of treatment she was used too.
“You don’t have to y/n, making you cum is pleasure enough.” She seemed almost nervous. You shake your head and take her hand placing the two fingers that were just fucking deep inside of you into your mouth.
Releasing them with a pop. Her eyes are droopy and mouth slightly open. Her chest breathing deeply overwhelmed with lust. “No Hazel. I really want to make you feel good.”
Hazels ripping off her sports bra without another word. You nudge her shoulder down and straddle her. She’s frantically trying to take her sweats and boxers off. You help her rip them off and throw them across the room.
The sight is beautiful she’s completely soak, all you want is to have your face between her thighs. “Can I taste you?” You ask coyly as your hands rub up and down the tops of her thighs, your words going straight to her core. “Fuck, y-yeah, yes p-please—I mean.”
You settle between her thighs leaving light kisses on her inner thighs. Hazels having a hard time keeping still with you so close to where she needed you.
You look up into her eyes through your lashes as your breath fans over her soaked cunt. She lets out a whimper on accident and it set her body on fire with embarrassment.
Finally you lick a broad stripe. Hazel sign in relief. Her fingers pulling at your roots. Your hands are hooked over her thighs keeping them apart. Tongue flicking over her clit at a pace YOU didn’t even know was possible.
Hazel eased into the feeling of being taken care of. She’s switching between look you in the eyes and looking at the ceiling when the shyness become too much. She quietly took in the sensation of being taken care of before speaking trying to get rid of the shyness.
“I’ve thought about you like this s-so many nights.” Hazel mumbles out between whimpers. You push your finger into her curling. “Yeah?” You question quickly. She throws her head back when you go back to sucking on her clit.
You add another finger. Pace becoming quicker and deeper. “I always imagined this,oh god,h-happening during one of our movie nights.” You hum into her creating a whole new sensation as her legs start to quake. “I th-thought youd take the hint. Oh god don’t stop.”
She let out a soft laugh until the knot in her stomach was becoming to much to handle. “I mean we c-cuddled for like 3 hours at a time! Shitshitshit!” Hazels grip on your hair became tight as her eyes rolled back, letting out a loud moan. The knot in her stomach snapping as the white hot feeling flushes over her.
You watch her in awe. Her chest heaving as she grinds into you her other hand gripping the headboard showing her toned tricep.
You help her fully ride out her orgasm then pull away to use your shirt to clean yourself in and lay next to her gently.
Hazel turns to look at you with a tired smile spreading across her face. She cups your cheek once more kissing your forehead. “I thought it would end like this too.” She says to you quietly. “Me too.” You reply going to kiss the tip of her nose. She looks into your eyes for a moment thinking.
Her eyebrows push together as a though crosses her mind. “Did you ever eat the bagel?” You laugh at her genuinely concerned question and pull her into an embrace, warm bodies lovingly entwined. “No I actually thought I was dying though in my defense.” Hazel pouts at you.
“Did you beat up Anya?” You question her instead. “I tried to but she honestly kicked my ass sooo bad, like embarrassing I’m so happy you weren’t there” You laughed at this too.
“I looked cool though right?” She dropped her voice dramatically. “Oh yeah sooo cool.” She gasped at your sarcasm.
When your both of yours laughter dies down it’s seems both of you have the same realization that your best friend was now your girlfriend. Eyes saying what they needed too.
“You wanna watch a movie?” You asked quietly. “Only after you eat cause a $12 bagel on a college student budget is atrocious.” She kissed your forehead and nudged you to get up.
(Thank you for reading😙)

“I don’t deserve you,” you murmured, your cheek squished against Joshua’s chest.
Your day has been dragging itself for what felt like forever, the never-ending accidents having chosen this day to take vengeance on you for some reason, making your mood gloomier than the weather was. Nothing seemed to work out for you, and you prayed for the day to end, so you could lay down in your bed and bawl your eyes out.
You were prepared to come back to a quiet apartment, and cold too, as your heater magically decided to break down. With no dinner, and no proper food in the fridge, you knew that the afternoon would be as miserable as the rest of the day.
The last thing you expected was to open the door, and be greeted by the smell of ramyeon and your favourite tea you always drank before bed, music quietly playing from the speaker in your living room.
“Of course you deserve me, darling,” Joshua gently put his hand on the back of your head, dragging his fingertips gently through your hair. “It was just a bad day.”
He cupped your face, pulling it away from his chest looking down at you with a warm smile, as small creases by his eyes appeared, something that always happened when he looked at you. And in that moment everything felt alright again - his soft gaze, and equally gentle touch made you melt further into his body, tension leaving your sore muscles for the first time since you woke up. He was your definition of comfort, your safe blanket, that you could wrap around yourself on your worst days, knowing that he’d always be there for you.
“Okay, let’s eat before the food gets cold,” he said, intertwining your fingers. You wrapped your hand around his bicep, and leaned your head onto his shoulder, as he guided you to the kitchen. Joshua busied himself with finishing off the food, as you took out the utensils and prepared the table, even lighting the candle he got for you on his last tour.
“Here you go, darling,” Joshua placed a steaming bowl of your favourite ramyeon on the table, as well as the tea he had made earlier. “I hope it’s still warm,” he said, wrapping his hand around your cup, checking the temperature. “I can make you another one,” he was about to take it away, when you grabbed his wrist to stop him.
“It’s okay Josh, just sit down, and eat with me,” you said, picking up the spoon and chopsticks. You could swear, you had never been that excited about eating.
But as you started to munch on the food, with a compliment for your boyfriend’s amazing cooking skills at the tip of your tongue, you raised your head, and noticed he was still standing next to you, a weird expression adorning his face.
“What’s wrong?” You asked, stopping in your tracks. “I’m not staying,” Joshua explained, his troubled expression only intensifying. “Remember that boys night I had planned with Coups and Jeonghan? It’s today.”
And just like that, the comfort bubble popped.
“Can’t you reschedule it?” You asked, eyes big, and pleading. You knew you were acting silly, childish even, but it seemed that your body and mind longed to be with him. You just needed someone to look out for you - to take care of you.
He let out a sad sigh, which couldn’t mean anything good, and you knew you wouldn’t like what he was about to say. “You know how long we’ve been planning this night for, darling. And we were really looking forward to it, you know we had to wait months to book that place, and we’d have to wait an eternity for another free spot if we cancelled now.”
“I really don’t want to be alone, Joshua,” you said with a quiet voice and a quivering lip. On any other day, you’d never make him change his plans for you, even now, your words were barely coming through your throat. This was a shitty thing to do, and you knew that if Joshua stayed he’d be unhappy, and you’d end up sitting in an uncomfortable silence rather than finding comfort in each other.
“Don’t you think you’re a bit clingy?” He giggled, the smile reaching his ears. “You’ll be fine for one night, it’s not the end of the world,” his words pierced your heart, making your stomach sink in disappointment, as his words hit you.
“W-what did you just call me?” Joshua’s smile quickly dropped, his teasing demeanour gone in a second. “You said I was clingy?” Your eyes immediately filled with tears, your hands shaking under the table - not so much from anger, but from his dismay. Joshua clearly didn’t realise how much his words hurt you.
“Darling, I-” “Don’t bother.”
You dropped the spoon, and grabbed your cup, heading for the terrace. You ignored Joshua's pleadings for you to come back, his voice clearly laced with guilt, but no matter how hurt he was didn’t change the fact that he hurt you first.
You knew very well it was unfair for you to ask him to cancel his plans, but he called you “clingy” in your most vulnerable state, when you really needed comfort and support, and not his jokes.
You underestimated how cold it was, the breeze sweeping under your shirt, as you stepped out, sending shivers down your back, as the only remaining source of heat was your cup you were tightly clutching between your hands. The clouds seemed even darker than before, casting a sad shadow over the city.
You sat at one of the chairs, looking out to the distance, trying to suppress the tears that were threatening to spill. Not only did you have one of the shittiest days ever - your boyfriend, your precious Joshua decided it was the perfect time to make fun of you, but at the same time you knew it was so wrong to pressure him into changing his plans just because you had a bad day.
“But he did call you clingy,” the thought lingered at the back of your head, somehow trying to excuse your behaviour. You took a shaky inhale, trying to slow down your racing mind, as it was starting to make you really anxious.
A sudden knock pulled you out of your thoughts, making you spill some of the tea that you were sure was cold by now. Another thing to tick off on your “what went wrong today” list.
“Can I talk to you?” Joshua kneeled before you, sinking to his knees, as he took the cup from your cold hands, and gently intertwined your fingers, so he could warm them up a bit, something that the tea failed to do.
“I didn’t mean to call you clingy, and I’m sorry. I want you to know that I only said that as a joke, and I shouldn’t have done that either. It was stupid, and I shouldn’t have reacted like that,” his eyes were sincere, and warm - as they always were. The only thing they missed were the small creases.
“It’s okay Josh. I was wrong too,” you sniffled, wiping off the single tear that escaped your eye. “I’m in no place to ask you to cancel your plans, that was so fucking immature of me,” you shook your head, almost as if you couldn’t quite believe that you had acted like that.
“You had every right, darling,” he cupped your face, bringing you closer to him, wiping the tears from your cheeks. “You had a bad day, of course you wouldn't want to be left alone.”
“Still-.” “Stop blaming yourself. If anything, I acted immature for making fun of you, and calling you something hurtful when you needed help.”
You pulled at the sleeve of his hoodie, making him sit next to you. Joshua was quick to wrap his arms tightly around your body, so he could shield you from the wind, cradling your face close to his chest.
“Why don’t you call Seungcheol’s and Jeonghan’s girlfriends, and you could have a girls' night while I was out with the boys?” he asked in a quiet voice, his mouth right next to your ear. “I really wouldn’t want to leave you alone, precious. I would have a shitty night if I knew you were here alone.”
Letting his word sink, you actually smiled at the idea. That would be even better than staying with Joshua only, and you’d both get to have a great time - you’d end up in a win-win situation.
“You’re a genius Joshua Hong,” you muttered into his chest, closing your eyes. “I don’t think so, I just made my girlfriend cry,” you giggled, actually laughing for the first time today.
“Yeah, but I still love you.”
“I don’t deserve you,” Joshua murmured, his cheek squished against the top of your head.
“Of course you deserve me, darling,” you gently put your hand on the back of his head, dragging your fingertips gently through his hair. “It was just a bad joke.”
also, i could not write proper angst for this one, as i have for the previous fics - but no matter how much i wanted i just couldn't picture joshua calling anyone intentionally clingy

omg i thought of this while in the resturant! (We were ehatchign fail army and they were doing scare pranks)
and i thought like "what if soap tried to scare ghoast?"
this could go two ways
ghost isnt fazed at all
or
2. ghost reacts poorly and ends up hurting johnny or worse..
Apologies for being so absent! Here ya go!
Ghost disliked pranks. Ever since his little brother used to scare him with the mask, they just rubbed him the wrong ways. Even the innocent ones like putting salt in the sugar so it would ruin his tea were enough to spark up old anger issues.
Obviously, this went against what the 141 knew him as when it comes down to humor. While outsiders would think a prank on Ghost would end with their heads on pikes, they also didn't know he liked dad jokes and dumb one liners.
So when Gaz and Soap started their prank war, they automatically included Ghost. In retrospect, Ghost really should've sat them down and said no with a little more force, instead of brushing them off and assuming they'd get the picture. But he thought it was over by now and he doubted they'd actually do anything again after he told them he wasn't interested.
Ghost had no way of knowing the man that jumped out at him, a spur of the moment idea on Soap's part and not something planned, as he doubted he could really sneak up on Ghost on purpose, was not going to stab him immediately. Luckily, he had been unarmed, so Soap did not end up with a gaping wound in his throat. Instead, Ghost backhanded him hard enough for his teeth to rattle in his skull.
Soap hit the ground hard and Ghost felt the adrenaline rush through his veins like he got hit by a stim. Giant blue eyes, apologetic but also shocked, blinked up at him.
Ghost wanted to hurt him. Soap must've seen it, but he didn't run. What an idiot.
Ghost turned away and took a deep breath. Noticing just now a very, very startled Gaz and Price.
Price quickly helped Soap up, glancing at Ghost like he might fly off the handle.
Soap took a breath when he got up and slowly let it out. "Hurts like a bitch, but I'm alright, Captain. You okay Simon?"
"I just almost cost you some teeth and you're asking me if I'm alright?"
"Your hands are shaking. You're breathing heavy. Thought you were having a panic attack for a minute."
Ghost shook his head. "You two are like fucking little brother. Always getting yourselves into fucking trouble. Either of you pull that shit again, I'm not stopping at one fucking hit." He hissed it at them and stomped off.
His hands were shaking.
He couldn't tell if he felt more angry at Soap for startling him, himself for getting startled and hitting him or if it was just embarrassment at the whole situation.
Soap found him in his hiding spot. "Simon?"
Ghost sighed. "I'm not going to apologize."
"Neither am I. I'll say getting bitch slapped makes us even." He pulled himself up into the perch. It was hard to get to and overlooked everything.
"I didn't actually hurt you, did I?"
"Nae. Put some ice on it and I was good as rain. Glad you didn't have any rings on though." He smiled but Ghost could see the imprint of the back of his hand. "Did I get you that bad?"
Ghost sighed. "Reminded me of someone."
"Your little brother. So you said. I hope you don't actually think we're alike considering you've kissed me."
Ghost made a face and even through the mask, Soap could tell. "He used to do shit like that. Jump out at me. Fucking hated it. And you're not getting another fucking kiss from me until I know for a fact you're both leaving me out of your little prank thing."
"I can't control Gaz!"
"Learn to."
Soap sighed. "You're breaking my heart, Simon." He smiled at him though, knowing the kiss embargo wouldn't last. "Alright. Changed my mind. I am sorry for scaring you. I know you. While I don't think I could've predicted the backhand, I could've predicted your reaction wouldn't be pleasant."
Ghost sighed loudly and Soap tilted his head. "What's wrong?"
"I hate how weirdly emotionally mature you can get, Johnny." He grabbed him and forced him to turn his head. "I'm sorry too."
"Kiss it better?"
Ghost glared at him before giving him a small kiss through the mask. "There. Fucking bastard."

The Wings and the Roots Part 1
1992 Hawkins
The air was hot in the squad car and Steve just wanted the day to be over. He was idling back from the road on the edge of Hawkins in a place where young drivers and out-of-towners liked to test the speed limit. The windows were down but the breeze did nothing to alleviate the heat. He glanced at his watch and groaned. Time always seemed to move slower in the summer. He only had another half hour left of his patrol, but the minutes were dragging by, and he was sweating in the stifling heat. All of his thoughts were focused on the cold beer that was waiting for him in his fridge.
“That was Alive by Pearl Jam,” the radio DJ announced. “Next on the lineup is Blood Runs by Corroded Coff-”
Steve quickly changed the station as a car sped past him in a red blur. He threw on his lights and pulled out of his hiding spot in pursuit. The car noticed him quickly and signaled that it was going to pull over to the side of the road. Steve slowed down behind it and parked. It wasn’t a car he recognized so probably someone from out of town trying to drive through Hawkins as quickly as possible. Steve couldn’t blame them. Didn’t mean they were getting out of the ticket though.
He grabbed his notebook and pushed his sunglasses into his hair as he got out of his car. He sauntered up to the rolled down window of the vehicle he had pulled over and was greeted with the wildly grinning face of Eddie Munson. The grin quickly faded as recognition sparked in his eyes.
“Har - Harrington!” Eddie stuttered. Steve was briefly pleased by the shocked look on Eddie’s face, but following that pleasure was an emotion he did not know how to describe other than it felt like something was curdling in his stomach. Eddie looked good, his curly hair wild and framing his face. A hint of black eye-liner smudged around his dark eyes. His arm rested on the window of his car, showing off a beautiful sleeve of tattoos. The opposite of Steve in every noticeable way.
“Munson,” Steve acknowledged outwardly calm. Internally his brain was screaming at him that it was EddieEddieEddieEddie. “It’s been a long time. What brings you back to Hawkins?” The only way Steve was going to get through this interaction without having a nervous breakdown was to pretend that Eddie was an old acquaintance. An old friend from his past just passing through town.
“Yeah, it has,” Eddie replied, “I’m visiting my uncle for a couple weeks.”
“You were driving really fast there but I suppose I can let it go for the Rockstar that put Hawkins on the map.”
Eddie blinked sheepishly up at him. “Thanks man, but you don’t have to do that. I’ve never felt like a Rockstar when I’m in Hawkins.” He looked like he wanted to say more, but Steve needed to end this as quickly as possible.
Steve shrugged. “It was good to see you. Say hi to Wayne for me.” He turned and started walking back to his car. “And slow down!”
He watched as Eddie drove away and swore to himself that this time, he would be fine. He didn’t care about Eddie Munson. He hoped that if he kept telling himself that he didn’t care, one day it would be true.
---
Eddie’s heart was still beating quickly when he pulled into his uncle’s driveway. He sat for a moment trying to collect himself. Seeing Steve again truly rattled him. He was as beautiful as ever. And that uniform… it suited him. Eddie needed to calm down. He slapped his cheeks and grabbed his bag from the passenger seat. The house he had bought for Wayne was a small bungalow on the outskirts of Hawkins. He could have afforded to get him something nicer, but Wayne was stubborn and getting him to accept this house had taken a lot of convincing. Something grander would have been refused outright.
As he approached the door was flung open, and Wayne grabbed him in a tight embrace.
“M’boy,” Wayne mumbled into his shoulder.
Eddie gripped the man back just as tight. It had been too long since he had been back. Hawkins had forgotten that they had accused him of running a murder cult when he got famous, but Eddie would never forgive. He tried to visit as little as possible. But he wanted to spend time with Wayne now that his tour was over and the man refused to come to L.A.
“Heya pops,” Eddie smiled. “How have you been?” They held each other in the doorway for a long moment before Wayne pulled him inside.
“Good.” Wayne grabbed Eddie’s bag and led him further into the house. He dropped it onto the kitchen table and grabbed a couple of beers from the fridge. Popping the tops, he handed one to Eddie and took a long sip of his own. “Come sit and tell me how things are going in L.A.”
Eddie sat and told him about the sold-out tour he and the band had just finished. They had played in twenty cities across the States and had just signed a contract for another album that he would get started on as soon as he was back. The years had been good for Eddie; he was living his dream. Playing his music to the masses, hopefully giving the outcasts of the world something that made them feel not so alone. Someone to look up to that was like them. His hands were flying as he spoke, and he probably had a manic grin on his face, but Wayne just sat and listened, nodding along to everything Eddie said.
“I ran into Harrington on the way here. Well, he ran into me. Pulled me over just outside Hawkins, didn’t even see the cop car!” Eddie said. “He wanted me to say hi for him. Do you see him often? How long has he been a cop?” He tried to be nonchalant, but he usually avoided talking about Steve with his uncle.
“Steve comes over every now and then. He cooks, and we watch the game and have a few drinks. Been a cop for a few years now.” Eddie was absolutely gob smacked by this information. Why would Steve spend time with his uncle? What did they even talk about? Him? Probably not him. Maybe him? Definitely not him. Why hadn’t Wayne told him?
“Why!?” Eddie shrieked.
Wayne gave him a long dry look. “We spent weeks together at the hospital when you were in a coma. Boy never left your side. We got to talkin’ a little, he was scared shitless of me at first. But I could tell he cared about you. Gotta say, didn’t expect a Harrington could be such a good man. He keeps up with you, ya know?”
Eddie did not know. He did not know any of that. After how they had left things, he wouldn’t have expected Steve to stay in touch with Wayne or keep up with Eddie’s career. Knowing that Steve asked about him softened Eddie’s heart, but guilt quickly swamped the warm feeling. Wayne could see the conflicting emotions on Eddie’s face. He had never been able to hide how he felt.
“Why didn’t you tell me you saw him so often?” Eddie asked.
“Didn’t seem like ya wanted to hear about him,” his uncle replied. “You should talk to him.”
Eddie immediately began shaking his head. He had run six years ago, and even if some things were different now, Eddie was still – and always would be – a coward. He had his reasons for leaving Hawkins like he did, and Steve Goddamn Harrington was one of them. Being accused of running a satanic murder cult was another but who was counting? What the hell would he even say to Steve? That he was sorry? That he missed him? That he thought about him so often it made his heart ache? No. There was no talking to Steve.
“It’s been long enough. He asks about you every time I see him even though it always looks like it hurts him to do it. Eddie… You didn’t see him when you left. You should tell him what really happened.”
Eddie never wanted Steve to know what really happened the last night he was in Hawkins. He didn’t want any of them to know. It was bad enough that his uncle saw him in the aftermath. It still shamed him to think about it, and the last thing he wanted was more pity.
“He’s not going to want to talk to me, Wayne.”
“How do you know? It’s not too late to be friends, especially after what you went through together.”
Eddie couldn’t meet his uncle’s eyes. Friends. He didn’t think it would be possible. Pining after Steve Harrington has been one of the only constant things in Eddie’s life and it had always worked better from a distance. He had learned that lesson the hard way.
“I’ll think about it,” Eddie said.
---
Eddie Munson was everywhere. Steve ran into him at the grocery store, saw him cruising the streets in his fancy car, watched baristas flirt with him when trying to get a coffee. Steve was losing. His. Mind. Eddie had visited a few times since leaving, but by fate or design they had always managed to avoid each other. This felt like the universe purposefully messing with him, throwing the man in his path as often as possible. Steve always gave him a polite nod and then continued on his way as fast as possible. Eddie always had this earnest look on his face like he wanted to talk but Steve resolutely refused to give him a chance to.
Steve was sitting in his squad car outside the coffee shop, slowly taking sips and trying to wake up when Blood Runs started playing on the radio. It was one of Corroded Coffins’ most popular songs and played on most stations. Steve usually changed it when it came on but he felt like punishing himself a little today so he listened.
I broke my own heart Like branches off a tree Made wings out of the debris And flew so fast and far My blood has always wanted to run You were collateral damage Didn’t know how to make you mine Instead you stayed right there Looking so pretty with roots in your hair
That was enough for him…There was only so much of Eddie’s raspy voice caressing his ears that Steve could take. He turned off the radio and sat in the silent heat for a moment. Steve had always been somewhat vain and over-confident, even if he considered himself a better person now. But he wasn’t being boastful when he thought about Blood Runs being about him and Eddie. Most of Corroded Coffin’s songs were subtler, but some weren’t even trying to be about anything other than Steve. The kids brought it up often enough, always trying to coax the story of what happened out of him. He tried very hard not to think about it; The uncertainty of his feelings, the confused longing, the endless flirting. And then the kiss - Nope. Steve started his car and pulled away from the curb. Hopefully he could find some kind of public disturbance to take his mind of Eddie Munson
Unfortunately, Hawkins refused to cooperate. It was a peaceful and beautiful day. Which was usually a good thing, but today it just made Steve angry. Having Eddie in town changed something in the air, brought a tension that he wasn’t used to feeling anymore. Hawkins was safe, predictable… At least it had been for the last few years. Steve made sure of it. After hours of slowly driving through town with nothing happening to occupy his thoughts, Steve found himself unconsciously heading to Sattler Quarry.
It wasn’t a place he visited often anymore. When he was younger it was a good place to think, and he had a lot of thinking to do back then. Realizing that he wasn’t a good person in high school had been a tough pill to swallow. Between The Upside Down and his friendship with Dustin and Robin and Max, Steve had finally grown the fuck up. He liked to think that he had made up for ‘King Steve’ in some ways. He had helped to save the world after all. But another part of him felt like he still had something to make up for. That the weight of his past mistakes would hang over him forever.
He parked his car in the shade and started walking towards the stone outcrop that overlooked the water. Flies buzzed around his head and cicadas screamed in the trees and the sun played peek-a-boo through the canopy. Steve let his mind drift as he walked, tried not to think about Eddie. Couldn’t help but think about Eddie – just another person to regret. Another missed opportunity caused by Steve’s bullshit. He sighed and scrubbed his hands over his face and threw his hair.
By the time he emerged through the trees he had worked up quite a sweat. The sun shone on the water and a nice breeze lifted his hair and cooled his skin. It was perfect and beautiful, and it made Steve want to scream. So, he did. Loudly. His throat was hoarse by the time he was done. But he felt better. With that out of his system, he decided to head back to the office to catch up on some paperwork. He usually put it off as long as he could, but figured it was something he could get finished today. Something that would keep his mind busy. He looked at the water and breathed calmly for a few minutes before turning back. Eddie would be gone soon, and everything would go back to normal.
---
Steve Harrington was everywhere! Eddie watched cashiers flirt with him at the grocery store, saw him patrolling the streets in his squad car, ran into him sleepily grabbing coffee in the mornings. Eddie was losing his mind! Steve still had no business looking that good in a police uniform. Eddie hated the police! As Steve left the coffee shop with a brief nod to Eddie, he tried and failed not to stare at his ass. God, those pants hugged him in all the right places. Thank you, Hawkins P.D. Lyrics suddenly popped into Eddie’s mind.
It doesn’t always Have to be a fight But you’re just a Big Boy Swinging a bigger bat How dare you leave Looking like that?
Oh, that was good. With some tweaking, it could make a good chorus to a song. Eddie needed a napkin. Oh Stevie, my muse! Wouldn’t be the first time Eddie had written about Steve, wouldn’t be the last either. It wouldn’t be a very subtle song; Steve would know it was about him. A Big Boy swinging a bat was the most obvious reference to the man Eddie could make. Fuck it. Subtlety had never been his strength.
“Eddie!” yelled the barista. He turned quickly, his cheeks feeling warm and red. “Here’s your coffee.”
She smiled and held out the cup. When he went to grab it, she held on a little longer than necessary, smiling at Eddie and blushing. She had been flirting with him since he got to town. Eddie had come out publicly when he first started to get noticed. He refused to hide who he was anymore and being a famous queer metal-head who was once accused of satanic murder just helped his growing fame and notoriety. Women still flirted with him, and he usually flirted harmlessly back but he didn’t want to give anyone in Hawkins ideas.
“Thanks! Could I get a napkin?” he asked the barista as he started patting the pockets on his vest. He usually kept a pen on him. You never knew when inspiration would strike. And inspiration struck often with Steve Harrington around.
She handed him a napkin and he grabbed it quickly and started scribbling on the counter. She tried to peak but even if she could read upside down there was no way she could decipher Eddie’s chicken scratch handwriting. When he was done, he shoved the napkin into his back pocket and ran out of the café with a “see ya,” thrown behind him.
He was meeting up with Dustin and didn’t want to be late. He was back from school for the summer and the timing worked out perfectly for a visit. They didn’t talk often but stayed in touch as often as their busy lives allowed. Eddie finished his coffee as he drove to the Henderson’s.
When he slipped out of the car the door was already open and the stout fuzzy haired young man flung himself down the stairs and grabbed Eddie in a crushing hug.
“Eddie!” Dustin beamed up at him and Eddie grinned back. God, he missed him.
“Henderson!”
They held on to each other tightly. Dustin was still shorter than Eddie so he had his face tucked into his shoulder. He didn’t speak, there would be time for that. He just wanted to enjoy the feeling of hugging Dustin; alive and happy and here. There was a unique bond that would always tie them together and he was forever grateful to have Dustin in his life.
Family had always been a difficult thing for Eddie. Being disowned by his parents early in his life had scarred him to the idea of unconditional love for a long time. He knew Wayne loved him but it had taken them a while to be comfortable with each other and openly showing affection was still pretty new. Dustin was a revelation of what family could be – easy affection, complete understanding, fierce protectiveness. Eddie loved him.
He didn’t want the hug to end, but they slowly pulled away from each other.
“Let’s go for a walk, my mom is driving me insane,” Dustin said as he started dragging Eddie down the street.
“How are things at school?” Eddie asked.
“Amazing! I really enjoy my classes and it’s a great feeling to be challenged. Still giving my teachers a hard time though. This one professor was giving a lecture on astrophysics and gave the wrong data for one of the calculations we were supposed to be doing. When I questioned him, he said he would have to look it up. Next class he started by saying I had been right!”
Eddie laughed and shook his head. “Don’t ever change, Henderson.” Dustin smiled.
“How about you? How was the tour?”
Eddie took a deep breath. “So good. Super exhausting and living on a bus with the guys was interesting but the music and the crowds - nothing like it, man! You feel like a God up there, with thousands of people screaming your own words back at you.”
“I’m still bummed I couldn’t make it to the Boston show. Next time I’ll be there, exams be damned!”
The conversation continued as they walked. Dustin mentioned a new DnD campaign his school friends had started. Eddie missed the game, didn’t have time for the care and detail he put into his own campaigns and wasn’t interested in being a player at the moment. They talked about books and movies, catching up on the little details of each other’s lives that they had missed.
“I was talking to Steve the other day and – oh, sorry.” Dustin cut himself off.
“It’s fine, I’ve actually been running into him a bunch.”
“Have you talked to him?”
Eddie sighed.
“Not really… We mostly just nod that we acknowledge each other’s existence. I’ve tried to start a conversation a couple of times, but he always runs out. He doesn’t want to talk to me.”
“Steve doesn’t hold grudges, Eddie. He’s still good friends with Nancy and Jonathan, right? I don’t know what happened because you won’t talk about it, but it can’t be that bad. And besides, he knows what it’s like to regret past mistakes,” Dustin said earnestly, “just talk to him.”
Eddie blew raspberries and then bit his lip.
“Alright, alright! I’ll talk to him tomorrow just to get you and Wayne off my back. And when he resoundingly refuses my offer of friendship I can say I told you so and we can go back to nodding politely at each other for the rest of our lives!”
“When will you learn that I’m always right?” Dustin grinned as Eddie wacked his arm.
--
After another long day of patrolling the quiet and uneventful streets of Hawkins, Steve was finally home for the night. He was about to crash on the couch when someone knocked on his door. Sighing, he went to answer it. He was shocked to find Eddie standing outside, arm raised as if to knock again. He looked as good as he had the day before. Curly hair framing his face, a faded band T-shirt and ripped black jeans on even in the heat. It hurt to look at him, standing in the sunshine as if years hadn’t passed and they weren’t practically strangers now. Steve plastered a smile onto his face, knowing it probably looked off but not knowing what else to do.
“Munson? What are you doing here?” Steve asked.
Eddie glanced around nervously, bouncing a little on his feet. “Hey Harrington. Can I come in?”
After a moment of hesitation Steve stepped aside and gestured for Eddie to enter. He led him into the kitchen and nodded for him to take a seat at the table. Eddie was too busy looking around the room to notice. Steve tried to see it through his eyes, it was nothing like the Harrington residence he grew up in. He refused to live in a museum; this was his home. The fridge was covered in photos and letters from his family. The walls full to bursting with framed pictures and smiling faces. Beside the fridge was a corkboard with newspaper clippings and articles cut out and pinned up. Eddie gravitated toward it.
“Accomplishments,” Steve said. “There’s an article about Nancy winning an award for her journalism. She won it the year after she graduated. A local newspaper wrote a story on Will’s art exhibit. You’re up there of course.” Steve reached up and moved a clipping out of the way showing a school paper with Henderson’s name in the corner and giant red B.
“This one’s my favourite I think,” Steve pointed to it with a smile. “This was Dustin’s first and only paper to ever receive anything other than an A at MIT. Whenever he’s over he puts someone else’s article on top of it.”
“Kid always needed something to check his ego!” Eddie laughed.
He continued to stare at the board, a look of almost wonder on his face that made Steve’s stomach flip. There was more, so much more. A Hawkins Post article about Hopper coming back from the dead. A newer one with Hopper shaking Steve’s hand. A university paper showcasing Lucas’s game winning shot. And Eddie and Corroded Coffin were everywhere. Steve almost felt embarrassed, but Eddie belonged up there with everyone else that he cared about; with everyone that survived and went on to live such big and beautiful lives.
Steve cleared his throat. “So, why are you here?” Steve asked just as the phone rang. Eddie shook his hands at Steve in a ‘go for it’ gesture.
Steve walked to the phone and answered, “Steve speaking.”
“Steve!” Max screamed into his ear.
“Hey, sweetheart.” Steve smiled. “You coming soon?”
“Yup! One more paper to finish and I’ll be back for the summer. Thought I could wrap it up quick but it’s more difficult than I thought it would be.”
“Take your time. Dustin’s the only one whose made it back so far. You’re good though? Getting enough sleep?” Steve could feel her rolling her eyes at him. They both still had nightmares, but Max would only call him when a particularly bad one hit.
“Yes, Mom! I can take care of myself, go babysit someone else!” Brat.
Steve laughed. “Love ya, kiddo.”
“Yeah, yeah, bye Steve!” Hanging up the phone, Steve turned back to Eddie.
“Max.” Steve explained.
“How is she?” He asked.
“She’s great.” Steve smiled. “She’s at school in Indianapolis. I’m glad she stayed close. She was going to come home this weekend but has a paper she needs to finish first.” He shrugged.
“Home? She lives with you?” Eddie asked.
Steve’s smile got bigger. “Yeah. She’s uh – well she’s my daughter, sort of? Adopted her a few months after Vecna. Her mom couldn’t do all the doctor visits and physiotherapy and the wheelchair really didn’t work in the trailer park. Gave me custody and then took off.”
Steve thought back to how Max was when she first got out of the hospital. Broken arms and broken legs, barely able to see. Her mom wholly unequipped to deal with the trauma and the healing that still had to take place. All Steve wanted to do was help. He started driving Max to her appointments, trying to coax her out of the quiet stupor she had fallen into. She was so strong. But she needed someone to be soft with, and Steve didn’t know why she chose him, but she did. She never let the others see how much she was hurting, but she showed him.
Maybe because they were so similar. They had parents that didn’t act like parents. They grew up too fast and had to learn to take care of themselves. It was difficult for Steve to let others take care of him, too. Max letting him in, being vulnerable with him helped him to be vulnerable back. It helped him to let Joyce and Hopper in. Made him realize that he didn’t always have to be useful to be wanted. To be loved.
When Susan had pulled Steve aside and told him that she was leaving, Steve did the only thing that made sense. He told Max that he could just be her legal guardian for the next few years until she was old enough to be on her own. But in a moment that would probably live in Steve’s mind as the best day of his life, Max had told him she wanted him to be her Dad. It was the one and only time she had called him that, but it didn’t matter because Steve knew how she felt. Brat still called him Mom in that annoyed but fond tone when he did anything to show how much he cared about her, but Steve would take what he could get.
Eddie was looking at him softly. “You seem really happy, Steve.”
Happy… Steve was happy. The happiest he had ever been. He had a beautiful family that loved him and a job that he actually gave a shit about it. But there was something missing. Something that had been missing for years despite his best efforts to find it again. The realization made him a little angry. Because the reason for this missing piece was standing in his kitchen looking at him with beautiful soft eyes like he cared.
“Why are you here, Eddie?”
Now that the moment had come Eddie looked nervous, his fingers tapping his sides and his feet bouncing with energy. He opened and closed his mouth a few times seemingly trying to find a place to start. He pulled his hair in front of his face.
“I was hoping we could talk?” Eddie coughed.
“Talk? Now you wanna talk?”
Eddie winced. “Har – Steve. I’m sorry. I’m sorry for how I left. Running has always been my go-to move. The one and only time I didn’t I got swarmed by Demobats and almost died!” Eddie said, trying for a bit of humour. Steve didn’t laugh, just looked at Eddie, waiting.
“86 was supposed to be my year. I was going to graduate and get the hell out of Hawkins and do something with my life. Then Chrissy died in my trailer, and I was thrust into the Upside Down and I learned that monsters are real. When I went to distract the Demobats away from Dustin, I - I didn’t really expect to survive it. But I did, and I didn’t know what to do with that. I didn’t graduate, couldn’t find a job and despite what Hopper did, Hawkins wouldn’t let me forget what they thought of me, and I could never forget what they thought of me either.”
Eddie started pacing back and forth across the kitchen, running his hands through his hair. “I couldn’t just go back to how things were. I didn’t know how. And with how we left things, I didn’t think you would care. I just thought it would be best for everyone if I started over somewhere else. Clean slate.” Eddie said.
“Jesus Eddie, it wasn’t just that you left. I do understand why Hawkins wasn’t going to work for you anymore. It’s how you left, without a word. Without talking to me," Steve said and took a breath. "Without letting me explain.”
“I didn’t mean to hurt you. I didn’t think I could hurt you. After I kissed you and you-”
“Don’t. Please.” Steve cut him off, he couldn’t let Eddie say it.
“I really thought you liked me, Eddie said with naked vulnerability on his face.
“I did,” Steve said without hesitation, “like you.”
At the time, he was still figuring things out and he had reacted badly when Eddie kissed him. He could admit now that what he had felt for Eddie then was so much more than just liking him. He had longed for him, wanted him, needed him. No one saw Steve the way Eddie had. It had been good and beautiful and fragile… And Steve ruined it like an ignorant child who didn’t know what he had been given. But then Eddie had gone and ruined it worse.
Eddie was looking at him in shock, eyes wide.
“You did? But…”
“I was scared, Eddie. I needed time. I went to the trailer park the next day and Wayne said you had left and weren’t coming back. That you didn’t want to see or hear from me. From any of us.”
Eddie winced. Opened his mouth to speak. Closed it. Shook his head. They had both made mistakes and he couldn’t deny that as hard as it was having Eddie around, Steve wanted to see him. He wanted them to be able to talk like they used to. He missed him.
“I’m sorry, too. I wasn’t ready and I – I didn’t know what to do… So I panicked and I hurt you. I’m so sorry, Eddie.”
Eddie was looking at him, eyes full of remorse or regret and Steve couldn’t take it anymore. He walked up to the other man, hesitated a little, and grabbed him in an embrace. Eddie stiffened briefly before collapsing into Steve’s arms.
“So, where does this leave us?” Steve asked into the mess of Eddie’s hair that was tickling his face.
“I’d like to be friends, if you think…” Eddie trailed off and pulled himself away from Steve so he could look at his face.
“Friends." Steve nodded. “Friends sounds good.”

Could please you write about Wally darling x GN reader who dresses in scene fashion pls!!!
Absolutely, as someone who dresses fairly alternatively I hope I represent scene fashion fairly well!
The neighborhood was very curious as [name] had entered into the new home that appeared on the block. They dressed far differently then anyone here had seen before, although still dressing in bright colors, it was far different then the 90's asthetic that filled the others wardrobes, and you often changed between outfits per day. All the other puppets in the neighborhood had one outfit for their usual wear and a few others for special occasions, of course excluding Sallys plays.
You couldnt help but notice that Wally had taken special intrest in you, always finding excuses to come over. After he ran out of anything else, he begain to come over for you to dress him up. It was fun putting Wally in your clothes, as he always seemed to enjoy anything you let him wear. It was suprising to him that another puppet in the neighborhood was about the same size as him, you were only an apple taller after all, which meant that all your clothes fit him, much better then other neighbors.
The first time you fully did his hair and makeup he was definitely nervous. You remember it like it was yesterday, it was the day he confessed his feelings for you.
You couldnt help but laugh at Wallys small uncomfortable shift when you wiped away his current makeup to prep him for the new look. You were known for the extravegant makeup you wear, usually with darker purples, blues, and greens to accent the black liners/shadows. "Are you sure you want to do this? I don't mind if you don't want me to do makeup like this on you. Its more my thing after all!" Wally shakes his head stubbornly, a smile still on his face. "No no, I'm definitely sure neighbor! I would love to try this new style of yours!" You couldn't help but smile a bit, nodding at him. "Okay great, are you ready to let your hair down?" His pupils go a little wider as he looks at you nervously. "Um..neighbor....are you sure I..."
You smirk a little, picking up a spray bottle and a comb. "Well, you definitely dont have to if you dont want to! But um...I'd be really excited to do your hair..." Wally couldn't help but melt as he saw you guiltily look away. He just found you absolutly irresistible, and was wrapped around your soft velvety finger. "Okay neighbor, go ahead..." You couldnt help but notice the extremally soft look on his face causing your heart to flutter. You began to get his hair out of the fancy style, and more relaxed to prepare it for extentions. After taking your time with both the hair and makeup, you turn him to the mirror so he can see. Its been about an hour and a half, the work definitly shows. Although the asthetic is much different then he's used to, from the black base used to white and blue stipes/checkers designs covering him. Fingerless gloves and straitened hair, it was definitly a sight he wasn't used to, he even had black and blue tiger stripe extentions in his hair. Wearing something so similar to you, it both made him flustered, and a little uncomfortable, although he quite enjoyed trying something new.
Any previous nervous that he felt melted away as he saw the excited look on your face. He was unable to stop his love sick expression. He's been silent for a bit now, and your nervous were beganing to build. "Um...do you like it?" Wally looks up at you, a sudden newfound confidence filling him as he stands up from the chair to face you. "I love it, almost as much as you, [Name]." You could feel the heat rise to your face right along side your flustered smile.
It's not very long, but I hope you liked it! Its my first time writing for Wally Darling so I'm still getting a hang on it!

The Lens: Part V
Tumblr media
Author's Note: So this was supposed to be the last part of "The Lens" but then...Sorry, not sorry guys! Enjoy!
“I see your armor.”
“It’s called humor, Fin.”
But no, the seasoned Sargent is right.  It is armor. Each joke, one liner, sarcastic flavored word, is just a gauntlet, breastplate, shield. It is the protection that Terry has painstakingly built around himself. And if other people are able to notice it, maybe it’s time to start paring it down. He can’t live his life with his guard constantly up, keeping everyone at arm's length. That night, he goes home and tries to figure out where to start with the dismantling of years of armor. What are some battles that he’s lost in the past, battlegrounds that he can pay tribute to in an attempt to heal wounds.
He’s done what he can with Rose. That ship has sailed, especially when he hears that she’s taken up with a fellow EMT. He can’t have any more regrets when it comes to her so he packs away that unsung future and moves towards a more attainable one. When Benson offers him a permanent position on the Manhattan SVU team, he takes it. He starts to look for a place closer than the Bronx and wondering what the next step is going to be when fate throws him a bone.
There’s an advertisement on the page across from the midtown rentals that he’s been combing through for an art gallery not far from the SVU. He recognizes your picture, The Gate of Babylon. There’s going to be an open house tomorrow night and he’s already clearing his schedule for  it. He doesn’t know for certain if you’ll be there; you don’t always attend the open houses. But he’s hoping that fate is going to smile on him again.
His nerves start to fail him when he’s standing in the doorway of the renovated warehouse. There has to be close to two hundred people milling around the wide open space. This is three times the size of the small opening he went to a few months ago in the Bronx. This is Dom Perignon filling the glasses and Guerlain perfume filling the air. That’s why it doesn’t surprise him when he finally lays eyes on you, he barely recognizes you.
You look like a painting, or a fashion model from the runways of Paris. Your hair is slicked back and resting in a bun on the base of your neck. You're wearing a black blouse with a deep v-cut neckline with a gold pencil skirt, and gold heels. You’re walking elegance and he’s frozen to the spot as he catalogs this moment.
But then your head turns in his direction; your eyes immediately meet his. The surprise, shock even, reminds him of this immense gamble. Three months ago was your rooftop encounter. Three months of radio silence from him after he dropped you off at your apartment, hair disheveled, dress wrinkled, and that beautiful smile of a hopeful woman. And he had completely ghosted you. He waits for any sign that you’ll give him a chance to explain himself, apologize, and beg for a second chance but a well-dressed man in a tuxedo steps next to you and pulls your attention away from Terry’s sudden appearance.
Terry watches as the man’s hand settles at the small of your back, as he whispers something in your ear and you smile. Your attention is focused on a reporter and her photographer who take pictures of you and the tall, dark handsome man next to you. He should have known, should have realized that someone as bright and beautiful as you would find someone who would properly appreciate you. He should have known better; he really should have. He puts his hands in his pockets and leaves the open house, bitterness very strong on his tongue.
When he leaves the warehouse, he wanders blindly around the neighborhood. It’s an upscale part of Manhattan, wandering into an unsafe part isn’t a concern. He berates himself for letting three months pass without so much as texting you. He’s lost in his self-flagellation when he passes in front of a diner window and someone is tapping on the glass to get his attention. He looks and sees the other relationship failure from his past motioning for him to join her. Resigning himself, he goes into diner and walks back to where Rose is seated in one of the booths.
“I was just getting ready to text you,” she greets.
“Really?” She motions for him to join her and he thinks, why the hell not? May as well rub salt in the wounds at this point. “What’s up?”
“I wanted to tell you before you heard it through the grapevine but, Brian asked me to marry him. I said yes.”
He expects to feel a second wave of failure and regret but as he sits there and waits for it to come, it doesn’t. Instead, he feels relief. Any chance he had at making things work with Rose are completely gone now and it’s like being set free. He’s actually happy for her and tells her that.
Rose laughs but there’s a nervous tinge to it. “You are? Really?”
“Yeah,” he shrugs. “I never wanted anything bad for you. I’m…I’m just sorry you were there for the shittiest time of my life. And that it rubbed off on you.”
She nods. “Well, I guess it just shows timing really is everything.”
Isn’t that the moral of the story? He sees Brian come into the diner and stands up to leave so Rose and Brian can spend time in peace. He knows how hard it is to find that shared time together. He shakes Brian’s hand and gives Rose a hug. But as soon as he lets go of her, he sees your face in the window of the diner. At first he thinks it’s just a figment of his imagination, your sudden appearance at this particular moment in time, still dressed in your black and gold outfit. But it’s the hurt in your eyes that makes him realize this is, in no way shape or form, an illusion. You turn immediately away and start off down the sidewalk. He says a hasty goodbye and runs out of the diner after you.
“Snaps!”
You’re already crossing the street to the next block. Shit, you can move in those heels and you show no signs of slowing down. He breaks into a jog and catches up with you at the next crosswalk. Now he just needs to catch his breath.
“Snaps, look-”
“No, it’s okay. I shouldn’t have followed you. That was just,” you sniff and wipe tears from your eyes, “it was just stupid.”
The crosswalk sign turns and you immediately start to cross when he grabs your elbow. “Snaps, stop, please, listen to me. I’m sorry. I’m sorry I dropped you off three months ago and never returned your texts and calls. I’m sorry I screwed that up so badly.”
“It’s okay, Terry. It is.”
“It’s not. It’s not okay. I fucked up. I showed up tonight to apologize, see if we could…” he lets the question drop off because you won’t look at him. That’s when the lights of a passing car catch the diamond ring on your finger. He had been right. You did find someone else, someone to love you like he missed out on doing.
You gently pull away from his grip and clear the tears that are stuck in your throat. “It, uh, it was good seeing you again, Terry.”
He watches you turn around and walk down the sidewalk before getting into an Uber.

Vicarious (Part 9)
“Like this.” Sokka says. He gathers a fair portion of his hair into a tight bun, just the way she always used to wear it. There is enough of it now that he can’t stuff it all into a single topknot. Not without it looking silly anyhow. “The trick is to make sure you don’t catch any of your fingers beneath the ribbon.
Azula scrunches her brows and grits her teeth. Sokka’s hair is different than hers. Shorter and harder to take hold of. She thinks that she has it all confined within the tie only to find herself scowling as a few strands of hair slip from the hair tie. “This is ridiculous!”
Sokka laughs. “It’s fine, you’ll get there. The more frustrated you get the harder…”
“I know!” She snaps.
He looks as if he is going to snap right back. Frankly it catches her off guard that he doesn’t. Instead he sighs. “Let’s try something else.”
“Something else…” She frowns. “It’s hair. If I can learn to lightningbend then I can learn how to do my own hair.”
“Exactly!” Sokka declares. “You’re going to do your hair.” He sits himself on the chair in front of the mirror. “I find that it’s a whole lot easier to do someone else's hair. Katara’s braids are a lot of fun to do.”
“Oh. My hair.” She replies. “I haven’t done my hair since…” She hasn’t even touched it. She hadn’t really touched it before then either. But now there’s a certain weight to it. A certain dread. Now she can only see uneven, disheveled bangs and an uncanny smile to match it. Sometimes her own face scares her. Even if she could, she doesn’t like smiling anymore. It never looks right; it always appears off-kilter in her mind.
“Azula?” Sokka says gently.
She swallows.
She tends to go distant sometimes.
She usually doesn’t notice when she has.
“Yes, I’ll do it.” She just hopes that she doesn’t make herself look ridiculous again. She isn’t giving herself a haircut this time.
She hadn’t been giving herself a haircut the last time either.
It is easier to tie hair up when she can see exactly what she is doing. Soon enough she has Sokka’s hair nice and pretty, just the way she likes it. The only thing that it is missing is her crown. But she hasn’t worn that it ages. It feels so hollow.
“Looks great, Azula.” Sokka smiles. She truly isn’t used to seeing a smile on her face. Not one that is so soft and encouraging. Her stomach flutters with prickles of longing.
Longing for something that she can’t be.
“Thank you.” She murmurs.
“Why don’t we do that a few more times until you get a feel for it and then you can try doing my wolf tail again.”
“Alright.”
“Tomorrow I was supposed to go on a date with Jin. I can show you what outfit I planned on wearing and where I planned on taking her.”
That tickle in her tummy worsens. “Right, yes. I can manage.” She can manage to ruin something he has probably put a lot of time and effort into. A lot of love. She can’t love. It is not in her nature. “I’ve never been on a date.”
“You’ve never…? Your father never arranged anything.”
Azula furrows her brows and shakes her head. “Why would he?”
“Because you’re the princess?” He seems absolutely flabbergasted. She thinks that he would probably buy into the whole 400 foot tall platypusbear thing before he trusts the words that have just come out of her mouth.
She shrugs. “Father had other plans for me. I had other plans for myself. I suppose that he would have found someone for me if he saw the need.” At any rate even she knows that she could use the same stiff formality that she is used to, to get her through an arranged marriage. “There wouldn’t be any love there so…” She ends with a second shrug.
“Right. Well I can teach you how to navigate your first date.”
“Great…” Azula grumbles. “Just how I wanted to spend my afternoon. Letting you woo me with one liners.”
“First of all, you would be wooing me with the one liners. Second, Jin and I are past the one liner stage.”
Azula grimaces. If she has to kiss someone…
“It’ll be fine.” He says but he doesn’t promise it.
.oOo.
“I’m doing it!” Sokka grins. Although he isn’t sure how much of it is him and how much of it he owes to a body that is so accustomed to this. So natural at it. He doesn’t exactly have the forms entirely right and his balance is a little off; Azula is so light and lithe, he isn’t used to working with such little bulk. Even so, he thinks that he is getting her katas down well enough. At least an amount sufficient enough to maintain her peak performance and keep her from berating him.
From where she sits, Azula nods. “Yes, that’s well enough, I suppose. But your form is too relaxed. You need to tighten it. I work with stiff but fluid stances.”
“Stiff but fluid…” He repeats. It doesn’t make sense but at the same time he understands perfectly. He has seen her bend before. Her form is so controlled and rigid, unmovable. But her motions are quick and adaptable. He isn’t sure if he can manage that. It could help with balance though. “Alright, give me the next one.”
“I suppose that I can give you one of the more complex forms since you seem to be getting these well enough.” She muses more to herself. To his disappointment she backtracks. “Actually I’d like you to run through the ones that you have been doing. You can move onto something else after you have gotten my style of bending. Your balance is still off; you can get away with it with these techniques but it won’t hold up with the more elaborate ones.”
“Fair enough.” He agrees. He is rather intimidated by her pinwheel move. Truth be told, he is intimidate by a lot of the more complex jumps and kicks and mid-air spins. When he is slashing with his sword and tossing his boomerang about, his feet seldom leave the floor.
Azula works so differently.
She fights so differently.
Almost exactly the opposite of how he does.
But he can’t deny that feeling a rush of chi is euphoric. Unlike anything that he has ever felt before. And he thinks that he understands now, why she enjoys firebending so much. Why they all love bending so much; it is exhilarating. He feels powerful, unstoppable. And Azula, in spite of the damage she has done to her body, can do so much.
She has a seemingly endless reserve of stamina–it would be rather if she hadn’t bogged it down with bouts of inactivity and skipped meals.
Her body is quick and maneuverable in a way that his is not. He has always valued his muscled build and the raw power it offers. But Azula’s slim physique offers him freedom and agility.
It is full of fire and fury–an enticing burning and her chi responds so well to being put to use. All in all, Azula is a powerhouse and he is starting to understand why she had always seemed to have the upper hand.
Throw in her careful planning and admirable strategizing. She really is built for war…
Somehow this makes his stomach sink; she wasn’t built for war, she was trained for it. Probably since birth. There is no way that her body would be so primed for combat otherwise. Did she even have a childhood?
He is too afraid to ask.
He springs forward and gives a fiery flying kick. He propels himself up with a jet of fire and goes for a double kick. At the last second he remembers that it doesn’t take as much force to propel her forward. It is the very same mistake that has been landing him on his ass all morning. And just the same, he has overshot the kick.
He lands on his shoulder with a sturdy thud.
“Be careful with me!”
“I know, I know. I’m trying, I just got a little excited, that’s all!” He sits up and rubs her bicep. He grimaces knowing that he has definitely left a bruise there. “I can have Katara heal…”
“You’re me right now.” She reminds him. “Katara wouldn’t heal me and I wouldn’t ask. You’re going to have to go back to my room and deal with it.”
“I can’t even get some ice from the royal physicians?”
“I suppose that you can.” Azula replies. “Just don’t make it a habit. I don’t usually hurt myself firebending. Given the circumstances they will get the wrong idea if you keep showing up.”
“Right.” Sokka mutters.
“And don’t get caught bending until you learn how to make your flames blue.”
“Right, yeah, I guess that that would be a little suspicious.”  He ignites a little fire in his palm just to watch its brilliant orange-gold blaze. He smiles to himself. He’s a bender now! He finally knows what it is like to feel special.
He meets Azula’s gaze.
He knows that looks so well.
That craving. That envy.
It very much fits his face.
“You’ll get your firebending back soon enough.” It is hers. Not his. He is going to have to remind himself not to get too attached.
“Yeah.” She mumbles. But he can see that it kills her inside to not feel that spark.
“It isn’t so bad being a nonbender.” But sometimes it does feel terrible and bleak. “You’ll have your fire back soon enough.” And he’ll have his friends back.

ofwilliamandwalter's birthday celebration challenge!!!
First of all, I just wanna say that I cannot believe that in a month's time, I will be entering the last year of my teen years. 18 has been rough (let's face it, most of my teen years were rough), but I'm so super excited for what 19 has in store for me!
That being said, I thought it would be fun for all of us to celebrate together! So, I came up with this challenge (it was inspired a little bit by @smurphyse's birthday challenge so shoutout there!) for all of us to celebrate! As always, I put my own lil Emmy twist on things and I'm super excited to see how it turns out!
Tumblr media
So, Emmy, what's the challenge?
As you all know, I am lover of literature. I love reading any and every fanfic I can find on this app.
So, I'm challenging you guys to write something based on one (or more) of the prompts listed below!
The theme of course is:
BIRTHDAY 🥳🎉🥳🎉
Tumblr media
Prompt Set #1 — One-Liners:
1. "I know it's not a cake, but it's the best I could do on such short notice."
2. "You've got frosting in your hair." or "You've got frosting on your face."
3. "What did you wish for?"
4. "Why didn't you tell anyone it was your birthday?"
5. "Hey... I brought you a slice of cake."
6. "Sorry if the decorations are a bit weird. They ran out of the ones we wanted to use."
7. "You look funny in a party hat."
8. "You have to make a wish when you blow out the candles!" - "My wish already came true—I have you in my life."
9. "I never cared for my birthday until I met you. Now each birthday reminds me of how grateful I am that we get to spend another year together."
10. "CELEBRATE ME! TODAY IS MY BIRTHDAY!" - "It's four in the morning." - "Yeah! I was born at four in the morning!"
Tumblr media
Prompt Set #2 — Scenarios:
1. Person A is a grouch about their birthday so Person B decides to throw them a party with only their pet(s) present.
2. Person A got Person B's birthday wrong and spends the whole day pampering them. Person B finds it too adorable to say anything.
3. Person A has a crush on Person B for quite some time, so they take B's birthday as an opportunity to give them a present and show them that they care about them. B is surprised because they have never really noticed A before, but enjoys it all the more.
4. It's a tradition in the office that when it's someone's birthday, someone else brings a cake. Person A's birthday is coming up, and Person B finally sees their chance to make a move.
5. The party throwers made so much noise setting up the party that the police came before the person being surprised even arrived.
Tumblr media
So, Emmy, what are the rules?
Anyone can join! No matter if you follow me or not, no matter if you're a writing account or not, no matter if you've ever even written a fic before. YOU CAN ALL JOIN!!!
All writing is allowed! There is no specific genre you have to stick to. Write what you love and we'll love it too!!
I like to keep things clean for the most part, but should you participate with a NSFW entry, please: HAVE YOUR AGE IN YOUR BIO OR YOUR PINNED POST!! I will not be sharing any NSFW entries from ageless blogs.
Please include a summary, what pairing it is, content warnings, word count, and what prompt(s) you chose.
Pairing must be one of the following: Criminal Minds character x reader, Criminal Minds character x character, Supernatural character x reader, Supernatural character x character, or Lesley Smith-Juniment x reader!!!

All entries must be tagged "#ofwilliamandwalter's birthday challenge" so I can find them! I would also prefer to be tagged in them just in case I cannot find them under the tag!

Tumblr media
Again, I wanna thank you all for being such lovely people! I can't wait to see everyone's beautiful creations and I hope you'll consider participating! It would make this birthday girl extremely happy :)

𝐓𝐄𝐍 𝐐’𝐒:
1. When are you usually online?
. Usually at night and weekends, especially when I am working at the hospital and not at home. I work full-time and I also take classes on Monday evenings for this semester. Lately, my activity has been a bit rough. Hoping that will change, though. I try to be here when I can.
2. What verses are you involved in?
Other than my main verse, I have a Yugioh verse, police verse, Free verse, FF7 verse, FF7 Turk verse, Angel/guardian verse, fantasy verse, Rock star verse,FF15 verse, and I’m working on a Vampire Knight verse, Sailor Moon verse, and started on the Berserk verse. I would like to work on an Elden Ring verse too, but that’s been in construction for some time.
3. What is your biggest RP pet peeve?
Generally, it’s godmodding, force-shipping, and not reading rules. I usually don’t participate in call-outs either. The only exception is if someone is in immediate danger in real life. I’m not a fan of excessive and very graphic smut either. Some intimacy is okay, but I draw the line with extreme levels of it.
I also don’t like replies that don’t offer much. I am not against short replies, but something like “she smiles and giggles,” doesn’t give me much to work with. I rarely write one-liners or I would try to encourage more input in some cases like add more details.  You don’t have to write four or five paragraphs. I just want something to work with.
4. Are you drawn to specific types of muses?
Harmony is attracted to other muses who are rough around the edges or are downright deadly. She's quiet, kind, and gentle, but also has the urge to help and love others. It’s in her nature to seek out people who may not have received love and kindness out of the belief that she can heal them. The thing is, that doesn’t always happen. Harmony wants to save other people when that can put her at risk of making the problem worse or putting herself in danger. Other than her chronic heroism, Harmony also falls for the unpredictable dynamics of a relationship with the other muse.
5. Are there reoccurring themes in your writing that people might not notice?
I try to make the replies immersive and be in Harmony’s perspective. I want to work more on writing environments and I hope I’m getting better with it. However, I tend to focus on thoughts and emotions. I want people to see how she feels, what she thinks, and how it influences her actions. I don’t know how well I portray her in some situations like when she’s excited, upset, or scared. I need to practice more on things like that.
6. What are your favourite RP trends?
I love the banners people have on their blog’s and also banners for answered asks and things. I hope to get things like that some day.
7. What is your process for starting a new story with someone?
I am pretty shy but would reblog different memes to encourage others to send something to start interactions. I also will reach out to people to plot things out or like permanant starter calls and plotting calls to show that I am interested.
8. How do you feel about duplicates?
I worked hard on Harmony and she’s an OC. I have allowed people to have her in their works like fanfics before, but it’s after they asked me. Other than that, I hope people don’t copy Harmony, which is different from being asked on whether she’s included as a character or npc in other works.
9. How long have you been involved in roleplaying?
For many years. I did this since I was 13.
10. Is there a muse or verse you could write in, but haven’t?
muse  wise: I thought of writing as Casca from Berserk a few times, but I was never sure if I would do her justice. I worry about that a lot when I consider canon muses.
verse  wise:   I’m working on a few verses, but the Berserk one is one I really thought about working on. It’s very bare bones right now though and trying to come up with how to make Harmony fit into it.

I want your commentary on a section of one of your fics, or a whole fic, that you've been DYING to get your thoughts out on. 😊
I hope you've been having a good day, and wanted to get this in before I go to bed glrbfj.
Owwwn thank you sweetheart <3
Btw I got this ask for the Directors Commentary thing AND another one for that too by an anon, nonnie I'm gonna save yours until chapter 4 is done cause I'll for SURE have things to talk about chapter 4 too. I fought through the pure angst of chapters 1 and 2 to get to the other ones which will have more funny, fluffy and horny things which I love writing. Chapter 3 already starts that off with the horny.
Anyways into the commentary proper, I did a bunch of parts of chapter 3 cause I really liked writing it.
I guess first I wanna comment in the fic as a whole. If anyone doesn't know, the title "my love when it counted" comes from the hozier song shrike. If you haven't listened to it, go and look it up, it's great and very much the vibe of this fic.
Anyways, this fic came not from a prompt or situation I found hot as most of mine do but from a feeling. Like, we know Kenny talked about thinking of retiring due to his injuries and we've been getting the vibe, esp after this week's show but also on his feud with Osprey, that he has been feeling the years. That he knows time has started to take it's toll on him. And I myself have been kinda going through my own crisis cause I'm reaching thirty, and as someone who only fell in tune with my own skin after I was 25, the dawning of my youth scares me.
So a heavy theme of this fic is time, how it changes you, in some ways it's bad, in some ways it's good, but it changes you. It has the power to change you so thoroughly that you become a stranger to your past self. So this is a story about the inexorable march of time and the changes it forces on you, and how sometimes you can be the right person at the wrong time. It's also about learning to live with your mistakes and putting in the work to fix things.
Also, every chapter has a working title so I can tell from one look at my Google docs what it's gonna be about, this one was "down memory lane hard".
Chapter parts will be under the read more
That was the box Kenny had dumped any photo with you in, to never be seen again. Shit, he didn’t even know he still had that. He was supposed to have thrown it away, but he never did quite get up the courage to do so. Looking at them now, he could feel the bitter sweet pang of nostalgia, the way it tasted like ashes in his mouth. Swallowing thickly, he stacked the photos together in the box again. That’s when he noticed something else, the black metal previously hidden by the scattered papers shining back at him. (Kenny made the big mistake of giving himself time to doubt instead of just throwing things out right away, big mistake buddy. Nostalgia is a drug, and also a liar, rarely the past is quite as good as it makes you think. Anyways, this is not the last we will hear from the nostalgia box, it still holds something else we haven’t heard about yet.)
For the most part, the camera seemed ok, and it sparked in Kenny a curiosity that he knew he shouldn’t feed. Whatever pictures it held, he knew they would do him no good right now. He knew he should just put it back in the box and leave it be. But he couldn’t resist as his finger pushed the power button, body moving on its own, ignoring all common sense. All he could do was hope the thing just would not turn on. (These three first chapters are just a long stretch of Kenny making bad decisions, some he really thinks would work out - like pretending you are strangers instead of trying to behave normally - and others he really know wouldn’t work out and still he does. At this point he is doing this almost as a type of self flagellation, he knows it will only hurt but it feels better to have the pain than nothing at all)
But of course it did. (hello ominous one liner in italic my old friend)
When Kenny finally made his way to the old photos, the first thing he was greeted with was his own face. Those same baby blues staring back at him, although a good few wrinkles less and many years younger. (references to how he feels about his age are actually important but hey kenny time did you good, you look better now) He had a smile on his face, features framed by the ropes as he sat on the floor of the ring. Behind him, he could see the silhouettes of Matt and Nick facing the vast empty arena, only a few more blurred forms dotted in the background.
Sighing deeply, Kenny moved on to the older photos. Passing through pictures of him, Matt and Nick preparing in the ring, as well as pictures of you getting ready or climbing on the ropes. There was one video from that day that had you and Kenny dancing around the ring, and for the second time now he felt his heart shatter as his memory failed him. He made through the pictures of the four of you, but nothing moved his mind, the memories truly lost to time. (Time and how it changes people is at the core of this fics theme yes and the first thing time goes for in a person is their memories, the human mind is actually very bad at remembering things and sometimes that’s great but other times it’s depressing.)
Biting his lower lip, Kenny laid back against the headboard, finger pressing the button again, but the picture meeting him this time being completely different. The photo had been taken in front of a large mirror outside a building, and standing in the frame were the two of you. He had an umbrella in hand, and you had the camera covering half of your face as you looked through the viewfinder. (Go ahead and imagine the most Wes Anderson looking ass picture, that’s what I was going for, and yes I do deserve to get sent to the content gulag for my hipster crimes)
Sighing again, Kenny flipped through the photos rapidly before stopping when he noticed a change in environment. The picture he’d stopped in was of you, looking away from the camera with your hair tied up, water covering your bare chest all the way above the breasts. He paused, studying the environment, the stone walls and hazy fog circling you were hard to mistake. You two were at an onsen, by the size of it a private one, probably from whichever place you were staying at. (Hello darkness my old friend, like I said, I would have a hard time getting into an onsen cause the japanese still connect tattoos to criminal behavior and I’m covered in tattos but I’ve never commited a crime [Maria has in fact commited multiple minor crimes ranging from drug possession, to showin her tits in public, to having sex in a public-ish place, to stealing from a supermarket to the worst of all, multiple accounts of  piracy])
Kenny’s eyes trailed the exposed skin on the back of your neck, eyes following the curve of your spine as it delved underwater. He felt his chest tighten again, you were so gorgeous, if he closed his eyes he could almost feel your soft skin on his fingertips. The next picture had you laughing, waving one hand at the camera as if trying to shoo him away. Your movement - and the surrounding fog - made the photo blurry, but he could still see your exposed chest. Warm water spilled down the inside of your breasts, kissing your skin in ways he could only have in his dreams now.
Moving on to the next photo, Kenny felt the air hitching in his throat as his eyes met with your own, large and entrancing in a way that he never found again after he lost you. Your beautiful irises stared back at him through the screen, keeping him locked in place for a good moment as he felt himself dragged to the bottom of a lake. And for a second there, he really didn’t want to resurface. (Kenny is longing to the point of self destruction, poor guy, but like I said I like to write my man a little pathetic, take him down a notch, make him suffer for his crimes and have to work to get the girl)
When he finally remembered to breathe, Kenny fully took in the image. You stared straight ahead, deep sultry eyes locked with the lens as his hand touched your face. One of your hands held his own, your lips touching his knuckles and the back of his fingers in a soft kiss. Water droplets ran down the curve of your breasts, with the way you were sitting the water just about touched your chest, not fully reaching your nipples. God, you looked like something out of this world, like a siren ready to drag him underwater, a lure he’d never deny. (If he won’t let you do like a siren and drag him to the bottom of a lake to kill him, does he really love you?)
Blood rushed to Kenny’s face and in a moment his breathing became hard, air evading him for a long second. It was almost like he’d forgotten just how gorgeous you could be. His fragile memory - and his most shameful dreams - not doing justice to a sight he once had so freely that he didn’t fully value. He was young and stupid, and you were too beautiful for him to understand - and fuck, from what he saw in the ring you’d only gotten better. (Gotta make sure to remind yall that we are romanticizing aging in this house, you look better in your early thrities than you did in your early twenties!!!)
It did him no good. (Ominous one liner here again to remind Kenny that he should have just turned off the camera)
Watching the scene in the camera had Kenny groaning, extending his legs out in the bed, free hand coming to rest on top of the bulge now formed in his pants. He watched the image of you continue to tease him on the screen, licking his swollen head as you made eye contact with the lens. Muttering curses, his eyes followed the movements of your tongue, his fingers caressing his large bulge over the fabric of his pants. Just the sight of your lips surrounding the head of his cock being enough to have him fully hard. (One hard thing about this chapter was making it clear what was happening on the screen and what was happenning in current time you know, I wanted to make it clear enough so that things wouldn’t be too confusing. Anyways, love writing handjobs and blowjobs, this short smut gave me both, I should have expanded on it but I was tired already.)
Shit, he knew he shouldn’t be watching this. Let alone taking his pleasure from it.  It felt wrong, but he didn’t really wanna think about that right now. Kenny only barely remembered filming this video, let alone that it still existed somewhere. He brushed against it again by pure chance, it was not like a premeditated thing.
Fuck, he missed you in more ways than he’d want to admit, and he didn’t want to deny his body’s desire. He didn’t want to deny the way seeing you in the ring had his mind reeling. The way hearing your voice in the backstage halls sent shivers down his spine. He knew it was wrong, but for a single moment he chose to give in to the desire burning deep inside his core. (We get a ‘I know it’s wrong but fuck it’ moment. Was it wrong of him? Yeah, kinda. But as someone who has been friends with people attracted to me and has artistic nudes floating somewhere in the internet, my personal belief is you can jerk off to a picture of me whatever so long as you treat me like a normal human being I don’t care)
Pulling the waistband of his pants down, Kenny released his throbbing cock. Veins popping around the thick shaft and sensitive head, his fingers sliding around it lazily. (thick and veiny is my favorite) He watched as you started slowly moving your head up and down on the screen, each time taking more of his shaft inside your mouth. Groaning, he cursed the lack of audio on the camera, wanting nothing more than to hear the delicious sounds he knew you’d be making. Kenny’s large hand wrapping tight around his length, fingers barely meeting as he pumped himself slowly. (One way I like to give the idea of dick size in smut instead of using the extremely vague and relative ‘it’s huge’ or the waaaay to specific and not sexy at all ‘X inches’ is to compare it to other things, writing blowjobs and handjobs is good for that. I mean, you know how large Kenny’s hands are, if his fingers can barely touch when he warps his hand around his cock, you know it’s BIG)
Kenny took in a sharp breath as he saw your lips getting close to the base of his cock, the camera shaking in his hands as a shiver coursed through his body, setting every nerve alight. He threw his head back, cursing under his breath before looking down again, watching you with darkened eyes. Taking his hand from his cock for a second, Kenny spat on his palm before he went back to fisting his length, fingers now picking up speed. (Spit is not good as lube I know, but it gives a raw sense of desperation that I find sexy for blowjob scenes)
Darkened eyes followed your movements as you bobbed your head a few more times, from tip all the way down, until your lips finally reached the base. The image shook a little before it steadied again. Kenny could almost feel the sensations, the tip of his cock touching the back of your throat, the wet warmth of your mouth stretching around his dick. He’d never forget that feeling, sinful and holy, pleasure bordering on pain. (Deep throat! Deep throat! A girl got a well trained gag reflex, kudos. Also, I know it’s cheap using a pleasure/pain comparison but I like it, I do.)
You continued your sucking on screen, and oh, what wouldn’t Kenny give to hear the noises. He groaned, trying to conjure them in his head as he fisted himself faster now, one hand almost not enough to satisfy his full length. Pre cum dripped from his swollen head, onto his fingers and down his veiny cock, making his movements easier and faster. His erection throbbing in his hand, feeling hot and heavy against his rough palm. (I love this whole paragraph, man. It’s cause Kenny has those hug beautiful hands with long thick fingers. Imining that pumping a big fat cock has me way too horny. I’m a sucker for nice hands.)
You locked eyes with the camera once again, and Kenny could see his hips bucking forward in the video. The hand in your hair stuttering in its pace as your tongue slipped out of your mouth and under his cock. Shit, just seeing that had him delirious, spilling praises out of his lips that he knew you’d never hear. (Gotta slip at least a little ‘alas, poor kenny’ moment in the middle of this horny mess) He imagined the feeling of your mouth, the warmth of your tongue all around him. Deft fists pumped up and down at a voracious speed, his cock heavy and slick in his hands, balls feeling full and tight.
In the screen, his hips bucked erratically now, not even caring if he was bringing your head all the way down or not. Your lips looked wet and abused as they stretched around his girth, moving up and down fast. Pulling your head all the way to his tip, Kenny’s hand moved to your lip, pulling your open mouth towards the camera before coming back to his own cock. He fisted himself a couple times, resting the head of his cock on your tongue as his thick length twitched. Rope after rope of his thick white cum spilled past your plump lips, filling your mouth with it. (I regret now not thinkin gof using the word flooding instead of filling, it would be sexier, but also I find the ‘cumming on someones open mouth so you can watch it’ thing very sexy)
Kenny pumped his hand faster and harder, feeling the coil in his gut snap as he watched you close your pretty mouth, swallowing all of his hot cum, tongue darting out to lick some that had slipped down your lip. He felt his orgasm hit like a truck, shutting his eyes as the intensity of the feeling had him seeing stars. With a grunt, his cock spasmed in his hand, shooting his cum like a torrent. Multiple white, thick ropes spilling from his cock, feeling hot as they poured on his exposed thighs and hips, staining his shirt where they fell on the fabric.
Kenny rode his orgasm for what felt like forever, ecstasy completely clouding his mind. When he finally came to, eyes opening to see his still hard cock twitching slowly. Pearly white of cum painted his fingers, a string of it coming from the head and connecting to his hips. He swiped his thumb over his still sensitive head, spreading his thick white jizz over the tip. He was breathing hard, and it still took him a moment to fully return from his high. (I have a cum kink, send me to the nasty jail cause I’m gonna write guys who cum a lot and also guys whose cum is thick, you know I’m really horny for a character if I give him both traits, I like the image of a throbbing cock too, just *chefs kiss*, once again, loved writing these two paragraphs. Press F for Kenny’s shirt tho, depending on the fabric this is gonna be hard to clean.)
Looking at the mess he’d made, Kenny felt that pang of guilt back in his chest. Shit, he shouldn’t have done that. Pushing his cock back into his pants, he cleaned his hand in his already stained shirt before sitting straight against the headboard, the full weight of his guilt crashing down. He ran his hand through his hair, lips feeling dry as he swallowed hard.
He really shouldn’t have done that. If Kenny had felt bad after your recent fight, he felt even worse now. Like a sleazy, cowardly excuse of a man. One who was too weak to let go and too harsh to fix things. Worse, he felt like he had slipped back into the self centered asshole you’d left all those years back. Shit, this wasn’t who he wanted to be, and it made him sick to the stomach. He looked back to the camera, the video had already ended, the final image being your smiling face. (like I described this chapter once: Kenny’s very bad no good at all post nut clarity)
With a quick push of the buttons, Kenny deleted the video, erasing it from existence like he had done with the others after your break up. This was the right thing, and if he had known about this camera, known about this video, he’d have done it a long time ago. Now it was done, still he felt like shit. And there wasn’t really any way to erase that taste of guilt from his mouth. (We finish with Kenny doing the correct thing and also showing that he was an asshole but not a completly awful person, he did have the mind to at least do the minimally decent thing of erasing the sex videos he knew he had - he may or may not have jerked off to them before that just as he may or may not have jerked off to videos of reader’s matches - and this one he is erasing now. Like I said he will get the chance to straighten up his act and make some better choices, I don’t wanna end this in angst no happy ending)

All right, it's less than 24 hours until regular voting begins and I want to say two things to everyone that I know (and anyone I don't as well, hello!).
First, be sure to vote. I understand some of you disagree with me politically, but I want you to vote anyways. The more people vote, the better, because the purpose of representative government is reflect the will of the people and that works best when everyone expresses their will via the ballot box.
If you're not currently registered it's probably too late (unless you live in CA, CT, CO, DC, HI, IA, ID, IL, MD, ME, MI, MN, NH, NM, NV, UT, VT, WA, WI, or WY which offer same-day registration!), but if you are registered you should try to find time to make it to your local polling place tomorrow. Vote.org (https://www.vote.org) is a fabulous resource and should have everything you need in order to make your voice heard.
Secondly, if you're planning to vote based on concerns about inflation, I want to say something fairly quick. And if you're not planning to vote on inflation, I want to say something about inflation that may be relevant to your own voting.
Now, I don't want to talk you out of voting based on inflation concerns, if that's genuinely what you think is important then it should be reflected in your vote. No, I want to talk about how to think about this concern. Many people are concerned about inflation and are planning to vote for Republican candidates because Democrats were in charge when inflation happened, but does that really make sense?
What will the Republicans do to bring down inflation? It's not a rhetorical question, I'm genuinely asking. What will Republicans do, working with a Democratic President, that will bring down inflation?
If you know what they will do and agree with it, then by all means vote on that information, but I'm a fairly well-informed person and I've been looking as best I can and I cannot find any policies that the Republicans have put forward that would actually address inflation. The closest I've found to any economic policy at all is a commitment to make the Trump tax cuts permanent which… well, it would actually increase inflation and Biden will probably block it.
And to underscore my point earlier about how this might be relevant to you even if you're not concerned about inflation, this advice is, in fact, relevant to everything! You may be concerned about something and there may even be a candidate who makes speeches and airs ads about that something, but do they actually have a plan to deal with it? If they do, do you actually agree with or like that plan?
Too often politicians simply attempt to glom onto outrage by simply spouting one-liners, hoping voters won't notice that they don't actually care enough to do anything about said outrage. Don't let them get away with it, make sure your vote counts by voting for someone who would actually do something about the things that motivate you. Check their campaign website and make sure they actually have a policy down that addresses the issue and that you agree with.
Of course, in a representative democracy there is no such thing as perfection. Vote for the person who you feel best represents your ideals and whose policies you believe will be the best.
If you've done that, you can consider yourself a proud citizen of a democracy. Happy Democracy Day!

Sonic's Next Emotional Arc: Skepticism and Doubt
IDW SPOILERS – Read up to the latest issue (41, at time of writing) or at least issue 40 before reading this.
I keep seeing arguments about how “Sonic and company don’t even seem impacted by the severe stakes of the Metal Virus and the pain they experienced.”
In the nicest way possible, that’s absolute cap. Here’s why:
When I first read Belle’s introduction in the Chao Races arc, I thought Sonic’s standoffish nature towards her (especially how he held his reservations through the following two issues) was out of character for him, but now, I think it makes complete sense (and is genius on the part of Evan Stanley).
Why?
Sonic was waiting for her to turn on him, just like how Mr. Tinker did.
I’ve spoken at length about Sonic’s emotional intelligence, so I would bet real-world money on the fact that Belle’s denial of her creator and her overall appearance clued Sonic in immediately – when he asked about who built her, he was referring to Tinker from the start.
Sonic’s friendly by nature, which is why he’s so chummy with her after Tails makes a case for her. The same idea goes for while they’re in battle, where Sonic’s attention and priorities are heavily shifted. Otherwise, however, notice how he’s crasser with her in his dialogue.
Tumblr media
Note the distinct lack of apology from Sonic (by design; an explanation is not an apology and he knows it) and the elliptic pause.
Tumblr media
Here, Sonic gives in rather begrudgingly, but his tone changes from actively defensive to teasing (a level down in Sonic’s defence mechanism – “a step above Eggman," I’ll call it), where he’s not comfortable really chatting with her but will riff off her, instead.
Tumblr media
Once in the company of his friends, Sonic is more willing to keep her around, especially with someone else. Once again, when Sonic isn’t playing tour guide, his demeanor resets and… he’s confused; lost in thought until Amy requests his attention.
Tumblr media
Here, note the realization within Sonic that Belle is here to stay, as well as his apology (with a distinct lack of an explanation – this is especially important).
Sonic finally accepts that Belle will be good for his friends and for their cause, but he doesn’t tell her (or anyone) his thoughts because 1) he senses that Belle 100% is in denial and isn’t ready to face certain facts (something Sonic, himself, is familiar with), and 2) he recognizes that he has no right to instill within Belle the same doubt he’s been living with since issue 1 (at an absolute minimum, too, given the history of this damn hedgehog).
Eggman, during the climax of the Metal Virus arc, has an amazing one-liner that sets up Sonic’s current emotional arc, in which Sonic won’t be so trusting of new faces and new situations. In the moment, Sonic tries to brush it off, but such little details – the retraction of his ears and his sweat – give his genuine discomfort away, because Eggman is right.
Tumblr media
Sonic’s biggest desire of Eggman is for him to be a better person – something Sonic knows that Eggman is very seriously capable of, both through the existence of Mr. Tinker upon complete amnesia and by the historically significant grace periods that Eggman goes through to aid the greater good (Sonic Adventure 1 and 2, Sonic ’06, and Lost World, to name a few examples).
Tumblr media
Side note: reread issue 23. Sonic is genuinely at his most desperate, and it's raw and painful and good. Easily a standout issue in the Metal Virus arc.
Sonic’s choice to spare Mr. Tinker is one he’s done nothing but defend whenever it’s been brought into the discussion, but in private, Sonic doubts his decision and feels immense guilt and responsibility for the losses his friends have seen and experienced to the Metal Virus.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Remember, too, that this comes nearly right after an approximate seven-month war that Sonic’s overzealousness (and subsequent defeat and capture) effectively started. We also see post-Metal Virus that Sonic seems significantly more protective of his friends compared to the start of the comic. He’s hyper-aware of his place in the world and in their lives, and he wants nothing more than to protect them – his somewhat-awkward, non-verbal communication of how much he adores them (Tails and Amy, especially).
Tumblr media
Also, a very sweet detail here on the left: Sonic pushes Amy’s and Tails’ heads down to protect them from being waterboarded, and immediately, Amy goes to do the same for Sonic. Those two are so pure in their connection - whatever that means to you - and Amy is best girl (and y’all can @ me lol).
In a way, Sonic’s actions as of late have been the direct cause of a lot of very serious problems, and Sonic isn’t so ready to make another grave mistake. Belle was (and is) a living, walking, talking, and sentient reminder of what could be Sonic’s biggest regret and point of eternal conflict – the point of reflection in which he realized the absolute pain he put his loved ones through.
However, despite all of this, Sonic isn’t ready to give up hope. He’s changing his tactics up a bit, which shows his growing emotional maturity, but he still wants to believe that everyone can be good, that every problem can be solved, and that every person can be redeemed – including himself.
I want to share another excerpt from Japanese Sonic X. At the end of episode 38, after Sonic and Shadow save the planet from the falling ARK with seconds to spare before the point of no return and irreparable damage, this exchange between the president’s aid and the president’s driver (Sam Speed) occurs:
Tumblr media
Sonic’s unparalleled optimism has been a core characteristic of his for a long time, and I really like how well the IDW comics have adhered to this fact while enabling Sonic to open up and be a teenager as it’s because of Sonic’s age and development that he experiences such waves of both optimism and doubt.
Sonic has never lived in a floating timeline. He’s grown and regressed and matured through every experience he’s had. He’s a thoughtful, dynamic, intelligent character who doesn’t take anything for granted. At least, not anymore.
(and people say nice things about him – LOL).

Depression
Pairing: Wolfstar x Fem!Reader
Word count: 3034
Includes: TW suicidal thoughts, depression, mentions of missing meals, crying, fluff, hugs, angst to fluff, comfort
Do not post any of my work anywhere else!!! I’m fine with reblogs but not with people stealing my work.
Notes: I have depression, this fic is kinda based off of my experience with depression. I wanted more than anything for someone to notice how badly I was struggling and I was in desperate need of a hug. I can’t change the past but I can write down my thoughts, feelings and what I needed at the time.
Thank you @quindolyn for helping me to fix a couple bits and for helping me decide on the ending xx
Depression is completely unpredictable. You might feel on top of the world one minute and suddenly feel miserable the next. You smile around your friends and family hoping that they don’t notice that anything is wrong but deep down you just want someone to notice, to care, to ask you how you are or just hold you while you cry it all out. You want to die yet you can’t bring yourself to do the actions that would end it all because that scares you even more than living.
Lately, you had been feeling very happy. Remus and Sirius were wonderful boyfriends and would do everything they could to make you laugh or smile. Your favourite moments with Remus are the ones where he decides to cuddle with you, there is nothing more relaxing than just resting your head on his chest and listening to the thump of his heart and his steady breaths.
The best moments with Sirius are when he tries to make up his own jokes, most of the jokes he tries to tell aren’t even funny but that somehow makes it funnier when he tells you a bad one-liner whilst in detention. The sweetest thing about Sirius is that when you least expect it he curls up on the bed and sleeps next to you as Padfoot. It’s the sweetest thing ever waking up in Remus’ arms to Padfoot lying across your chest, Remus just watches over the pair of you with a smile upon his face at seeing his two lovers sleeping so peacefully.
This morning you had woken up and felt like crap, you couldn't quite place it so you skipped breakfast and had a lie-in instead. This caused you to miss your first lesson and most of lunch. You managed to go to your next lesson though which was Charms with your boyfriend Remus.
At first, you tried to concentrate but you felt like a cloud had settled itself over your head causing you to struggle with your work.
You’d been feeling better for a while now but for some reason today had just left you feeling miserable. For the rest of class, you sat with your head in your hand gazing out the window.
Remus could tell that you weren’t paying attention to the class and was starting to grow concerned. “y/n, you okay?” He whispers in your ear.
Not wanting to draw any attention to yourself or bother him, you just nod and force a smile in the hopes that you could pretend that everything was fine.
The bell rang a few minutes later signalling the end of the class period. You had History of Magic next, Remus wasn’t in that class with you but Sirius was. Remus walked you to your next class observing your behaviour.
You weren’t smiling and didn’t speak at all on the way there simply looking at the ground. Remus stopped with you at the classroom door and gave you a soft kiss on the cheek. “Are you sure you’re alright love? You know you can talk to me if something is wrong.”
Looking up at him you sigh. “I’m fine,” you say quietly before turning around and walking into the classroom.
Remus was growing very concerned with your behaviour, something was clearly wrong but you weren’t telling him.
Just then Sirius walks down the corridor. “Moony, decided to switch classes have you?” He jokes.
Not wanting anyone to overhear the conversation Remus grabs his arm and pulls him over to an empty classroom shoving him in the door.
“I need a favour,” said Remus in a serious tone.
“What Moons?” replies Sirius, confused at the sudden change in Remus’ behaviour.
“I need you to watch y/n for me and make sure she’s alright. Something is wrong and I want to help her but she won’t tell me anything.” blurts Remus.
Sirius pats him on the shoulder. “Don’t worry Remus, I’ll keep an eye on her.” Sirius leaves the empty room and proceeds to walk into the History of Magic classroom.
Sirius seats himself beside you but you don’t notice at first because you are spaced out not paying any attention to the lecture being given by Binns.
You felt like crap to put it simply. You wanted to focus on your classes so badly but your brain was just telling you no.
Your brain is running at a hundred miles an hour making you feel even worse. *I’m going to fail all of my classes. Why am I so useless? Do the boys love me or do they just tolerate me? Nobody loves me, not really. I wish I was dead, why can’t I just die?*
You feel slow tears make their way down your face. You sniffle softly not wanting to bother anyone.
Sirius quickly notices your tears as you sniffle next to him. *Moony is right* thought Sirius *something is very wrong.*
Sirius reaches a hand out to yours underneath the desk and gives it a gentle squeeze as a reminder that he is there for you.
Finally, you have enough of your self-deprecating thoughts and abruptly stand up, grab your things and leave despite only having twenty minutes of class left. Sirius gets up and follows you, grabbing your hand as you leave the room.
The pair of you walk silently through the castle until you get back to the Gryffindor common room. Sirius seats you at the couch in front of the fire before grabbing your bag and chucking it aside.
Sirius sits down next to you as you stare into the ornate fireplace with tears still slowly rolling down your face. “Y/n love, what’s wrong?” He softly asks.
Instead of answering him, you rest your head on his shoulder. Sirius brings his arms around you to pull you into a hug. The pair of you sit like that for a while, listening to the crackle of the fire and your sorrowful sniffles. Sirius simply holds you whilst tears slowly roll down your face.
“I'm sorry, I’m just tired. I think I’m gonna go have a nap” you say softly.
“Alright doll, I’ll see you at dinner then?” He asks.
“Yeah, I’ll be there,” you tell him knowing full well that you wouldn’t be in the mood to eat.
Leaving Sirius in the common room you walk up to the boys dorm and throw yourself down on Remus' bed. Grabbing a discarded sweater from Sirius’ bed on the way. You curl up in a ball under the covers on Remus’ bed before letting the tears fall down your face again *why can’t I just feel happy for once in my life? I always fuck everything up, I want to die*
Sirius watches you walk up the stairs to the boys dorm before letting out a sigh and putting his head in his hands. You had never been like this, you were usually so bright and cheerful something bad must have happened because Sirius hadn’t seen even the slightest smile all day.
The bell for the next lesson rings and Sirius remains sitting on the sofa in the common room contemplating what he should tell Remus. He didn’t want to make his friend even more alarmed but he couldn’t hide his feeling of concern for your breakdown in class.
Remus enters the common room behind a babble of second years who were complaining to each other about their homework.
Spotting Sirius on the sofa before the fire he rushes over to sit next to him.
“Where’s y/n? Is she alright?”
Sirius takes a deep breath before sitting back on the sofa. “No, I can see what you mean Rem, she’s very upset.”
“What do you mean?” replies a panicked Remus
Sirius turns to face him and puts a hand on his shoulder. “Look mate I don’t want to worry you but in class, she just sat and stared into space, then she started crying and walked out.”
Remus let out a pained sigh and ran his hands down his face before clasping them in his lap. “Is she okay? where is she now?”
“I walked her back here, we had a cuddle for a while then she said that she was just tired so she left to have a nap,” replies Sirius
Remus stands up from the sofa and brushes his sweaty palms off of his trousers, “let's go and check on her.”
Sirius rises off of the sofa too, he turns around and looks around the common room before turning back to Remus. “Maybe she just needs space, she told me she’d come down to dinner so let's just give her some time alone and if she doesn't come to dinner then we can go and check on her.”
Staring into Sirius’ stormy grey irises Remus stays standing for another minute before nodding and sitting back down.
The boys study in the common room for an hour in complete silence, both of them preoccupied with thoughts of their distressed girlfriend. Sirius and Remus then head down to dinner, sitting down at the end of the Gryffindor table closest to the doors so that they could spot you as soon as you walked in.
The boys sit and pick at their food mindlessly for ten minutes continuously watching the door in hope that you’d join them for the meal.
Sirius lets out a deep sigh and drops his fork on his plate rubbing his brow before looking at Remus. Remus looks up at him offering a small smile before standing up. “Come on Pads, our girl needs us”
Sirius quickly stands up and grabs Remus’ hand dragging him out of the great hall. The boys briskly walk hand in hand back to the Gryffindor common room and quickly ascend the stairs to the dorm.
Remus opens the door quietly in case you are sleeping and peers in, he feels his heart break as he catches sight of you. You are lying in his bed fast asleep with puffy eyes from crying.
Remus approaches the bed and sits down on the side closest to you. Gently he starts to stroke your face with his hand whilst gesturing for Sirius to come over to the bed with his other hand. Sirius kneels on the bed next to Remus, reaches out and starts playing with your hair.
Remus watches as you slowly awaken, your eyes fluttering as they adjust to the light in the room. “Darling are you alright?” He asks you softly while rubbing his thumb over your cheek.
You feel your eyes fill with tears but don’t want the boys to see them so you roll over and put your face in the pillow hoping that they leave you alone so that you can compose yourself again.
The boys look at each other trying to figure out what to do next. Remus nods at Sirius gesturing for him to try and get a response from you.
“Baby, why didn’t you come to dinner?” You still don’t respond, making Sirius panic. “Please talk to us, we want to help you.” This makes you feel even worse, they just wanted you to be happy but instead, you’d caused them to leave dinner to look for you.
Your body starts to shake as the tears start rolling down your face. You keep the sobs in not wanting to make them even more worried.
Remus carefully runs a hand over your back worried at the lack of response. “Y/n please talk to us, we love you baby we only want to help you. It’s killing me that you are this upset and we want to be here for you.”
This is the last straw and you lose control of your crying, finally letting out the sobs that had been building up all day.
Remus’ heart breaks even more “Oh baby, come here”. Remus turns you over and carefully pulls you into his lap.
You press your head into Remus’ neck and let out all of the emotion that had been held within you all day.
Sirius sits down next to Remus and yourself at the head of the bed, he runs one hand soothingly up and down your back. “It’s okay baby, it’s okay.”
Your entire body shakes with sobs, tears soak the front of Remus’ sweater whilst the boys continue to make attempts to console you.
Remus rocks you in his arms carefully trying to calm you down. “Shh darlin’ it’s okay”
You start hyperventilating from the force of your sobs, Remus pulls you back from his chest slightly brushing hair away from your face.
Sirius reaches out to you and picks up one of your hands, he brings it up to his chest so that you can feel his steady heartbeat. “I know you're upset baby but you’ve got to breathe. Can you do that for me?”
Sirius breathes in and out slowly emphasising each breath for you to follow. “In...and out, in…and out.” This continues for a few minutes as you try to regulate your breathing.
“Good girl, you’re doing such a good job baby”
The sobs slow down slightly as you regain control over your breathing, tears still fall down your face but not as quickly as before.
Remus cups your face in his hand wiping away stray tears with his thumb before pressing a solitary kiss to your temple. “Y/n, what’s wrong? Please tell us” he begs.
You let out a sigh, opening and shutting your mouth a few times trying to come up with something to tell them.
Sirius notices your hesitation and gives you a reassuring smile. “It’s okay love, you can tell us anything. I promise you that we’ll try to help you and nothing you say can make us love you any less.”
Looking into his eyes you see nothing but love and concern. You sniffle and wipe one of your sleeves across your face. “I don’t know, I just don’t feel good”
Sirius runs a hand through your hair before giving you a sympathetic smile. “Is it that time of the month baby? You feelin’ sick?”
Tears well up in your eyes again. “No” you reply softly “I don’t feel sick”
“Then what is it babe?” asks Sirius with a small frown on his face.
You consider lying to them for a moment not wanting to burden them with your thoughts and emotions but in the end, it’s the pleading expression upon Remus’ face that makes you give in.
You take a deep breath, “sometimes I just feel really sad, like nothing will get better. I feel like no one loves me. I don't want to bother you guys because I don’t want you to leave me.”
The tears fall down your face again as you turn around and put your face back into Remus’ sweater, your fingers have a firm grasp on him as if letting go would make him disappear.
“Please, please don’t leave me, I’m sorry” you beg them as you cry into Remus’ chest.
Remus feels tears well up in his own eyes but swallows them down in order to comfort you. “No no no, sweetheart, it's okay. I promise that we aren’t leaving you.”
Remus holds you even tighter in his arms “I wish you’d told us that you were feeling like this sooner darling. We love you so much”
Sirius sits in silence listening to Remus comfort you before lifting a hand and rubbing your back. “Look at me baby,” he says with a stern tone.
You look up at him, he has a more pronounced frown upon his face than what was there previously but it softens slightly when he realises that you are watching him.
“You need to tell us when you feel like this okay? You aren’t bothering anyone, we just want to help you and we would never leave you over something like this.”
You remain silent looking away from him, the tears slowing down again so all that remains are the odd couple every few seconds.
“Promise you’ll tell us when you feel like this baby?” He asks, holding your face in his hands.
You sniffle softly before agreeing “m’kay, I promise”
“Good girl, you’re such a good girl for telling us baby,” he says fondly before placing a soft kiss on your cheek. As he pulls away from your cheek he gets a mischievous look upon his face. “Hey babe, what do you call a cow with two legs?”
You look at him confused for a minute before saying “I dunno”
He leans in towards you with a grin upon his face as though he is telling you a secret “Lean beef”
This causes you to giggle, Sirius smirks whilst Remus chuckles. The boys are pleased to hear you laugh after having been deprived of such beautiful sounds for an entire day.
“Good one wasn’t it?” He asks with a cocky smirk on his face.
“No” you reply, still slightly giggling.
“No!” He repeats back to you in disbelief. “What do you mean no? I thought it was a good one”
Remus raises an eyebrow looking at Sirius “c’mon Pads, you can do better than that”
“Fine, I’ve got a better one” huffs Sirius. “What does the perverted frog say?”
“I dunno” you reply again trying to keep a straight face.
“Rubbit” he replies.
This joke was much funnier than the last and you burst out in laughter. You have joyous tears of laughter pouring down your face as you giggle until your sides hurt.
After a while you yawn and rub your eyes, Remus smiles affectionately at you before moving you off of his lap changing positions so that you are laying half on Remus’ chest with Sirius spooning you from behind.
“C’mon darling, let's get some sleep,” he says quietly.
Sirius buries his face in the back of your neck before mumbling out a quick “I love you”
You settle down into their embrace, relaxing all of your muscles and just as you are dozing off to sleep you feel Remus run his hand through your hair as he whispers “I love you darling, more than you will ever know.”

One-liner #40 [Zhongli]
Tumblr media
Warnings: Mentions of death, painslut!Zhongli, Dom!reader, Male!reader, Master kink, blowjob, revenge, pegging, handjob, begging, untouched cumming, denial, passionate sex, proposal
Tumblr media
I walked towards the dreaded room, the room where hands would sneak under my shirt or between my thighs. I knocked on the door to the room and I saw him.
“Oh, Finally you're here, come in.” I walked into the room where Zhongli took the tray and placed it on the bar.
“I’ve told you to stop coming to my workplace, you're a disturbance!” I whispered. He cupped the back of my neck and put our foreheads together.
“Sh, don’t worry I’ll leave as soon as I’m done with my game. Anyways I missed you. You haven’t been coming back home lately, I thought you were kidnapped until I contacted Azadaha. He told me you were picking up shifts.” Zhongli pouted, moving his hands to my hips. I slapped him which made him falter.
“I don’t remember giving you permission to touch me.” I glared, he smirked and grabbed my hips again to which I responded by hitting him after I pushed him on his knees, “If you chose to be a brat then at least suck me off.” He chuckled looking up only to turn his head. I followed his gaze and noticed several guys that had copped a feel.
“You really think I won’t punish you in front of these dicks?” I raised an eyebrow.
“I’m hoping you do,” I used two fingers to grab Zhongli’s chin and made him face me, “Yes master?” His eyes twinkled.
“I want you to pick one of those three to show that slutty face to, I won’t stop til the guy you choses cums.” Zhongli went wide-eyed but smiled, going straight to the smallest guy. I grabbed his pants, tearing them open enough that I could see his bare ass.
“Eager bitch, if it weren’t for these guys I’d make sure you came with me just stepping on your cock.” He chuckled, before I lowered my pants and went in without issue. He looked back at me only for me to reposition him by pushing Zhongli right against the guy and picking up his leg.
“Make him cum and I’ll reward you with that thing you love so much.” He perked right up and hugged the guy’s neck. I began fucking up only for him to whine.
“M-more~ Master I need more~” when he realized that he wasn’t getting anymore he decided to insult me, “If you can’t fuck me faster or harder I’ll find someone else who will!” Suddenly I snapped my hips into his, making him choke. As I was fucking him I undid his belt only to pull Zhongli away from the guy.
“H-hey wait a minute! He was so close to cumming! Put me back!” I took Zhongli’s arms and bound them with the belt.
“You really think I’d let you off easily after threatening me?” I squished his face with one hand and forced Zhongli into the guy's face, “If you want another master look he’s right in front of you. So make sure to give him lots of love.”
Zhongli moved away and laid his head on the guy's shoulder, so I grabbed his head, putting him back on the guy's lips. Zhongli arched his back deliciously which only made me move faster. I bent over him kissing his spine which made him shiver before I went between his legs stopping his orgasm.
I pulled Zhongli off the guy’s disgusting face to see he had not only came but wet his pants in the process.
“Some Master huh?” I say, I pulled out of Zhongli and undressed him. Before moving him to the 2nd guy. I pushed back into Zhongli and began to fuck him. Zhongli’s dick was right against this guy only adding to his stimulation. Zhongli's deep voice echoed in the room as he moaned and begged for more. I smacked his ass and yanked on his Ponytail.
" Look at this guy," Zhongli looked at him, "tell him who owns you, who owns your slutty body!" He giggled
"You do master! You own me!" he moans, I forced him to stand up and began to jack him off having his cum land on the guy's face. Zhongli went limp in my arms and I rubbed his stomach bringing him back to reality.
"Only one more and you win, can you do that?" He nodded, I smiled and pulled out. Zhongli's legs gave out; I walked towards the third and final guy sitting on him. Zhongli crawled to me and took my dick in his mouth, sucking me. I pet his head while he was being such a good boy.
"M-master," He moaned around my cock.
"What now Li?" I asked, annoyed he stopped.
"Can I kill this one?" He asked when I felt the bulge and hand on my thigh.
"Make sure to hide the body." He smiled and went back to work on my cock. When I pushed his head down to cum in his throat Zhongli's eyes rolled back. He swallowed the cum before pulling off.
"I'm gonna finish my game master, thanks for playing." I hummed, making sure I looked decent before leaving the room. Later that night I was on the couch and Zhongli laid his head in my lap.
"Did you kill them?" I ask
"Yup. Anyways, my reward?" He asked, I pushed Zhongli up and lowered my pants showing I had taken a shower and didn't bother to put on boxers. Zhongli smiled and kissed me.
"You always know so well what I like." He laid on his stomach to just slowly suck my cock as I pet his head.
"Well good boys get rewarded and you were a very good boy." Zhongli pulled off.
"I wish you were rougher with me at the bar." He pouted, I hummed
"If I did that then you wouldn't be up for a round two now." I smirked, zhongli went wide eyed before taking his pants off and straddling my lap.
"You really do know what I want. So what's this one going to be like?" I grabbed his hips, lowering him on my cock.
"Slow, but rough." The hearts in Zhongli's eyes. He began to slowly bounce on my cock as I snuck my hands up his shirt to pull him closer.
"You're being passionate tonight." Zhongli stuttered, he wasn't used to the slow pace, in fact normally he hated it.
"You remember when I told you how'd I ask you to marry me?" Zhongli moaned, "well pretty boy, I'm going to make you dumb and then when you come back to your senses I plan to propose." Zhongli began moving faster which made me question if he wanted me to just propose now.
As Zhongli was Pounding himself back on to my cock around the third time around he laid down saying he didn't or couldn't do more so I took him to the bedroom kissing his head. I took the ring from my drawer and placed it on Zhongli's finger before going to make food for him. Only an hour later I heard a girlish scream followed by hurried footsteps.
"Ow, ow, ow," Zhongli repeated his mantra as he came closer. When I felt his arms along with his ringed hand I smiled.
"Like your ring?" I ask, he nodded, " that's why I picked up shifts, anyways now what do you say?"
"With or without a ring I'd still say yes! I'd be stupid not to! Hehe, now I can finally call you mine." I sighed, turning around.
"Pretty boy, you've always been able to call me yours, now we just have rings to show it." I kissed Zhongli before he nuzzled into my neck which ultimately made me burn the food. We ordered. . .

Do Us Part
Warnings: nonconsent and rape; oral, fingering, marital discord, cheating, spousal arguments and mental/emotional abuse, age gap (Peter is 24/25 and reader is 35/36)
This is dark!Peter Parker x 30s/’older’ reader and explicit. Your media consumption is your own responsibility. Warnings have been given. DO NOT PROCEED if these matters upset you.
Summary: You find it hard to accept that not all good things last as you face the changes in your marriage, yourself, and your marriage.
Note: I wanted to write Peter again but also I’ve seen this nonsense about how 30+ writers are too old for fanfic which is dumb af. And I wanted to turn the age gap trope a little so that it wasn’t the reader being the younger one in the relationship. I label it older reader but I don’t think being in your 30s is old tbh (my bf is 36 so pfft). It was all just a conglomeration of circumstances that inspired a deceivingly sweet dark Peter and I hope you like it. Also it’s 7.4k so a bit of a longer read.
Thank you. Love you guys!
Please leave some feedback, like and reblog <3

You walked slowly along the transparent shelves set into the pristine white walls of the cosmetics section. The department store was a haze of distant voices and the chirp of scanners as customers milled the aisles and waited their turn to check out. You whiled away your time looking at things you’d never buy as you waited for your husband to return from the men’s department.
You thought of the sparse make-up bag under your sink and the liners and shades you hadn’t used in years. They were likely expired and better tossed in the bin. You hovered along the crystal bottle of designer scents and stopped to test a particular blush-tinted fragrance.
You set the bottle back and peered over at the dark cubbies that housed the men’s scent. Even from there, you could catch a whiff of the heady scents as a younger man with reddish brown hair examined an angular vial of Dior Men. You suddenly felt out of place; a mid-thirties woman in her out-of-season clothes fantasizing about overpriced perfume.
Your husband's voice further cemented your reality as you fingered the golden cap of the Coach eau du parfum. Wesley rolled his eyes and flipped up the little plastic panel that hid the bold prices and huffed.
“I hope you don’t think I’m gonna pay for that shit,” he sneered, “what have you been doing? I was waiting for you.”
He waved a plastic bag as his lip curled and you pressed your mouth shut tightly and swallowed. The day began with another argument as he discovered the seared hole in his shirt and instead of blaming the crappy old dryer, he blamed you. Most of your clothes had been chewed up by the thing but you never complained.
“No, I was just… looking,” you teetered in your flats and glanced around. The young man at the corner display quickly turned to hide his nosy observation, “did you find some new shirts?”
“No thanks to you,” he sniffed.
“Oh,” you played with the hem of your tee and tucked your hands into your pockets nervously. You’d left him to look alone as you only seemed to irritate him and rarely took your advice on matters of clothing, “well, I thought I’d give you some space--”
“Stop acting so pathetic. Start taking responsibility for yourself. For god’s sake, you're almost thirty-six and you don’t know how to hang a shirt to dry?” He spun on his heel and snapped over his shoulder, “let’s go.”
You flinched but followed behind him as he strode away and you stumbled out behind him through the automatic doors. He tossed the bag into the back seat and slammed the door before flopping angrily into the driver’s side. You mirrored him daintily and squeezed your legs together as you tried to make yourself as small as you could.
“I told you about the dryer,” you said.
“And?” he started the engine and slapped his hand around the wheel, “call a fucking electrician or some shit.”
“Alright,” you shrugged as he stopped at the exit of the parking lot and checked his phone quickly.
“Benny wants to do a round of golf,” he peeled out and you grasped the door as your heart raced. You hated how reckless he was when he was angry. You hated how easily he got angry these days.
“Okay,” you picked at the fraying stitching of your purse.
“Don’t start moping,” he sneered, “I fucking work all week and I can’t go out and have a few rounds?”
“I never-- I didn’t say anything,” you murmured.
“You don’t need to,” he turned the wheel sharply as he cut off another car, “you sit at home all day and do what?”
“I work too,” you said.
“Uh huh, sure, if that’s what you call it.”
You ran your fingertip over the bleach stain on the knee of your jeans and said nothing. When he was in a mood, he would latch on anything until he outright exploded. You tried to think of when he changed, when he had stopped being the chill guy you met back in college. It felt like a slow trickle, small things you ignored until it was a mountain you could not see past.
You felt like crying but you’d stopped that a while ago. You existed in a purgatory of acceptance and helplessness. You wanted him to love you again, wanted to believe you could fix things. So you would keep trying. You would do better.
💍
You picked out a large flank of steak and winced at the price. You had a special dinner in mind. It was Friday and the work week was done. You wanted a weekend without a fight and Wesley was always one for a nice big cut of beef. You hadn’t made him one in a while, your dinners were the usual repetitive drumsticks and rice or your homemade mac and cheese.
You continued onto the fish section and grabbed some salmon for yourself. You’d gained some weight and decided to cut out dairy and red meat if you could help it. The pile of produce in your cart reminded you of the extra jiggle around your stomach and thighs. You also grabbed one of those women’s magazines that advertised a regimen to help slim your figure. You only hoped you could stick to it this time.
With your weekly haul in tow, you wheeled up to the check-out and waited behind a young man who looked oddly familiar to you. Maybe that was the passing years. You always felt a vague glimmer of deja vu, more often a sense of forlorn nostalgia of what you would never have again.
As you stared thoughtlessly, he looked over and smiled. He bent in front of your cart and picked up a thin packet of seasoning.
“You dropped this,” he said as he held it out and you thanked him before quickly snatching it and looking away.
He paid for his large bags of chips and over salted pre-packaged meals and packed up at the end as you loaded up your own goods, the cashier sending them down the parallel belt. You swiped your card and tried to calculate the chunk of money from your last check. You thanked the clerk and sidled past the young man as he finished up.
You rounded the counter as he lifted his three bags. You looked up without thinking, the sleeve of his shirt tight around his bicep. You caught yourself staring and looked back down as you packed in the cans.
It reminded you of Wesley; he’d also started being more mindful, he hit the gym after work and you noticed the little pudge that started just after he turned thirty was slimming out. It was that exact reason that made you notice the extra pounds on your own frame, not that you didn’t realise before.
The man left and you unfolded the little buggy you slid under the cart. You loaded your bags into it and dragged the cart behind you as you made an awkward exit with both wheeled trolleys. The compact fabric buggy was easy enough to fit on the bus if you stood.
You pushed the cart into the row of empty ones and continued across the parking lot. You rolled up to the bus shelter and checked the bus times on your phone. You dug out your strip of tickets and ripped one away. You leaned on the thin handle of your trolley and looked over your shoulder as you heard someone approach.
The man who checked out ahead of you put his bags on the metal bench inside the shelter as he sipped on a bright drink from the place just beside the grocery shop. He sent you a smile over his straw and you spun back to crane your head and search for the bus.
When the metal beast barreled up and cranked to a stop at the curb, the man waited behind you and as your wheels caught on the edge of the ramp, he reached around you and helped push it over the lip. You thanked him shyly and continued up. Usually you tried to keep the shop light on weekdays but you hadn’t really been paying attention.
You pushed your cart against the small barrier just behind the accessible seating and stood beside it, conscious not to take up too much space. The man stood just behind you two bags on one shoulder and the other dangling from the opposite elbow as he sucked on his straw. You grabbed the upright bar as the bus took off and watched the electronic banner for your stop.
A sharp stop had you veering back and you were caught by the young man as he chucked, “oop, you okay?”
“Yes, thank you,” you muttered and gave a sheepish smile over your shoulder.
“There’s a seat,” he gestured just behind you, “I’ll watch your stuff.”
“Um, no it’s… fine,” you gripped the bar tighter as the bus shuttled forward, “my stop is soon.”
You looked ahead of you and three stops passed before yours. You exited through the front with your buggy and headed down the sidewalk as the bus pulled away. You were exhausted just from your little sojourn and it wasn’t even two o’clock. God, you felt old.
💍
You had a salad chopped and tossed and the steak and fish laid out and seasoned. As you listened to your old Spotify list, the music dipped and the notification blipped over the screen. You washed your hands and grabbed the phone. You frowned as you read the lone message from Wesley, the only one you got from him all day.
‘Just finished at the gym, getting drinks with Andrew,’ you read and re-read the message as your heart fell.
You typed out a whole angry response and backspaced it all. You replaced it with ‘ok, have fun’ and blacked the screen. You shoved the meat back in the fridge and stretched saran wrap over the bowl of salad. You placed it on a lower shelf and closed the door, quickly swiping a can of the craft beer Wesley kept around.
You shut the light off in the kitchen and ignored the pang in your stomach as you cracked the can. You climbed the stairs as you sipped the hoppy foam. You put it on the night table and changed into the old butterfly pajamas you wore most nights and turned on the tv mounted against the wall.
You turned on Netflix but hardly paid attention to the carelessly chosen movie. You sat against the headboard and down the bitter beer until the can was hollow and your eyelids were heavy. You slumped down so that your shoulders were at your ears and dozed off in the stiff position as the room moved with the colours of the television.
The anger and alcohol shaded your shallow sleep and you hardly heard Wesley when he came in, only waking when your bladder was ready to burst and his snores rumbled in your head. You went to the bathroom and returned, wide awake, and stared at the shape of him in the dark.
You remembered when he used to kiss you when he came home, even when you were asleep, he’d wake you with the little pecks. You remembered when he was happy to come home. You remembered when you were happy.
You swallowed the acrid aftertaste of beer and left him to snore. You went downstairs and curled up on the couch but didn’t sleep. You just stared at the shadows of the furniture until the sun rose.
💍
The next day, Wesley didn’t wake until after noon and when he did, he didn’t say a word to you. He took his coffee and sat at the patio table in the back as you stewed and cleaned the kitchen. You had nothing to say to him even if you felt stupid for being mad.
“Gotta head down to the dealership,” he said as he interrupted your scouring of the stove.
“The dealership?” you said after a moment, deciding whether or not to break your vow of silence.
“I told you on Wednesday, I’m picking up the car--”
“We talked about this. We should wait a little longer--”
“It’s my money and I got a great price,” he sighed, “just because you have to pinch your pennies--”
“We’re married,” you squeezed the foam sponge, “it’s our money. Don’t act like I don’t pay for anything around here.”
“Oh thanks, honey, so wonderful you paid for a five dollar steak,” he scoffed, “I’ll be impressed when you can make a mortgage payment on your own.”
“How dare you!” you turned your back to him and kept scrubbing, “fine, but not a penny of my money is going to that thing.”
“That’s fine, I’m selling the old one, that should cover most of it--”
“What?” you slammed your hand between the burner, “you said we would hold onto it so I had something to--”
“Then you can buy it from me,” he said venomously.
“I’m your wife,” you spun to scowl at him again, “I-- what is wrong with you?”
He tilted his head and squinted as he poked his tongue out along his lip. “Nothing wrong with me,” he shrugged, “what’s wrong with you?”
“Don’t--” you warned as you pointed a finger at him through the bright yellow gloves, “don’t do that… I’ve been trying and you just keep pushing me away.”
“Me pushing you away?” he rolled his eyes, “you were passed out last night when I got home. Maybe if you didn’t fall asleep before nine I could actually fuck you… or at least get it up if you worked on losing some of that cellulite on your ass.”
Your lip quivered and you sucked in a breath. You shook your head and turned around again. You ignored him as your hand shook and you continued your work, scratching at the dried-on food around the burner. His empty mug clinked onto the counter and you listened to his exit.
Fuck him and his new car. You were done trying with him.
💍
Wesley’s new car was shrouded in the shade of the garage as the old black Hyundai sat out on the driveway with a red and white “For Sale” sign on the windshield. Right after he got back from his extravagant purchase, he made the listing online and several perusers stopped by Saturday night but Sunday morning saw the car still there.
You sat by the border of stones around the garden as he drank beer in the garage and approached any interested buyers who appeared; although so far he’d only had two before noon.
You tucked your clippers into your apron pocket and dusted off your gloves as you stood. You were a little dizzy from sitting out in the sun and a glass of water was the perfect excuse to drown out the annoying sound of your husband’s voice.
You ignored Wesley as you trod through the garage and kicked your sneakers off on the mat right before the three steps up to the house. You went to the kitchen and put your gloves on the counter as you filled a glass from the dispenser on the front of the fridge. You’d given up everything but water and the slices of lemon were the only flavour you had.
You took the glass and your gloves and headed back. Wesley waited just at the bottom of the stairs as he glared up at you with arms crossed. You sighed and descended but he didn’t let you pass.
“What is your problem?”
“Are you really asking me that?” you hissed.
“You giving me the silent treatment isn’t gonna fix this,” he snarled.
“You know what you said so… I shouldn’t have to tell you to apologize,” you retorted and he stayed put.
“Is this about the car?”
“The car is just another thing,” you cross an arm around your stomach, “you think I couldn’t use it to get around, to get the groceries maybe? Or, I don’t know, maybe since you have such a problem with my home office, I could go out and get a ‘big girl’ job as you put it so many times--”
“Your mother has a car she never drives. You can just take her with you, two birds, one stone. I need to sell this to pay for the new one--”
“The one I begged you not to buy,” you huffed, “you could’ve waited a few more years until we were a little more comfortable--”
“Oh, wait? Until we have a kid and all my money goes to it,” he snapped, “yeah, I’m sure we’d have the money then--”
“You’d have to fuck to do that,” you stepped down the last step and pushed past him.
As you came into the sunlight and shielded your eyes, a figure stood by the garden, knelt just by your tulips as he felt the soft petals. You narrowed your eyes. You recognized him for sure. It was the stranger from the bus.
“Um, hi?” you croaked as you swallowed the lump in your throat.
“Hey, it’s… you again,” he chuckled softly as he stood, “I saw an ad for a car and… well, I’m getting tired of the bus.”
“Oh, uh, my husband,” you pointed over your shoulder, “you’ll have to talk to him.”
“Okay,” he smiled, “Peter,” he held out his hand and you stared at it. You introduced yourself and shook his firm grip.
“Like I said, it’s my husband selling the car,” you brushed by him and got to your knees by the flowerbed. “Unless you’re looking to buy some wilting pansies.”
“Hmm, I like the tulips better,” he said as he slowly inched away, “thanks.”
You sat back on your heels and he strode over to the open garage. You heard Wesley greet him and didn’t bother paying attention to the same pitch you’d heard all morning. You pulled on your gloves and wiggled your nose as it tingled. You really just wanted to keel over and bawl.
“Sold,” Wesley announced and you heard a clap, “all yours!”
“I’ll just transfer the deposit,” Peter said and a minute passed before he emerged again, the keys hanging from his finger, “Thanks, Wes.”
You hid your distaste. It used to be that Wesley hated being called ‘Wes’ but lately, he introduced himself to everyone as just ‘Wes’. He really had changed. You must have too.
“Hey,” you looked up and blinked as the sun made your eyes water as it shone around Peter.
“You bought it?” you asked as you yanked free a weed.
“Yep, but uh,” he glanced over his shoulder as the old car stereo Wesley used blared out a classic rock tune, “I… wasn’t eavesdropping but I heard some of it and… if you ever need a ride to the grocery store, I usually try for Wednesdays,” he tucked his hand in his pocket, “I don’t live too far and since we go to the same one--”
“No, no, you don’t have to do that,” you looked back to the soil, embarrassed.
“Well, if you change your mind,” he kept the keys dangling from one finger and reached into his pocket. He pulled out his wallet and slid out a card with some effort, “I’m supposed to have these handy but I never really use them.”
He offered the business card and you read his name above the title, ‘senior photographer’. You gave a half-hearted smile and put it in your apron pocket.
“Thanks,” you said, “I can manage.”
“You don’t have to though,” he said kindly, “but I’ll, uh, leave you to your gardening. Sorry if I bugged you.”
“You didn’t,” you assured without looking up, flattered that anyone cared enough to even offer help.
“Hey, Pete,” Wesley stopped Peter as he neared the car, “you can have one before you go.”
“Oh, no, I’m gonna be driving,” Peter argued.
“Pfft, it’s a celebration and one won’t put you over the limit,” Wesley insisted and handed him a dark bottle of craft brew, “come on.”
“I really should go--”
“It’s a Sunday, where do you need to be?” Wesley patted his shoulder and looked over at you, “hey, honey, you wanna see if we have any snacks for our guest?”
“I’m not hungry,” Peter said curtly, “really. Just the beer is fine.”
They disappeared back into the garage and you cringed. You hated that. Wesley only every acted like a husband when others were around.
💍
You waited a whole week before returning to the grocery store. You were short on everything and it was a reason to get out of the house. Your husband had made both your home and your workplace hostile.
It irked you that Wesley resented you working from home when a couple years ago he was so happy about it. Then, he’d been so enthusiastic about starting a family but when it didn’t happen right away, he grew disillusioned and bitter. Now, he seemed to have no interest in being a husband let alone a father.
As you packed up your spinach and bottles of Perrier, your cart rolled just a little as someone nudged it from the other end. You raised your head and hid your surprise and discomfort as Peter smiled back at you.
“I thought you said Wednesdays,” you murmured as you dropped a bag in your cart.
“I forgot eggs,” he held up the carton, “I guess I have good timing.”
“You do?” you asked as you pulled your cart forward and maneuvered around to push it out of the way of fellow shoppers. You bent to grab your trolley from beneath and he caught it as you unfolded it.
“I’ll drive you,” he said.
“I told you--”
“I’m here so why not? Save the ticket for next time,” he urged.
“Why?”
“Why what?”
“Why does it matter? Why do I matter to you?” you asked.
“I don’t know, I… like helping people,” he shrugged, “what if I told you you were helping me? I have this horrible need to be the hero.”
“That will go away,” you muttered under your breath and he lifted a brow, “sorry, I… thank you.”
“Alright, let’s go then,” he collapsed the trolley and carried it easily under his arm as he cradled his eggs in the other, “I got the A/C fixed on the car too.”
“Mmm,” you hummed and walked with him out of the store.
You crossed the parking lot and helped you load up the bags in the trunk. That car should have been yours; you’d made enough payments on it yourself but Wesley was such a stubborn ass.
You sat in the front seat as he slid into the other and started the car. He drove cautiously through the lot and you read the store signs as he came to the exit.
“How long have you and… the old man been together?”
“Um,” you glanced over at him and chewed your lip, “since college so… almost fifteen years now.”
“Fifteen?” he turned out onto the street, “really? I thought he was older than you.”
“Christ,” you scoffed, “don’t flatter me.”
“Really, I woulda said twenty-eight at most,” he said coolly, “wow, I feel so young now.”
“And I feel so old,” you grumbled as you crossed your legs, hoping he didn’t notice the wrinkle in the pink capris.
“Whatever, you’re not even forty,” he said, “and time has treated you well so I can only think in a few years… oh jeez, sorry, that came off weirder than I intended. Not that I meant for it to be weird at all--”
You giggled at his rambling as he rolled to a stop at the sign and peeked over at you in the rearview. You caught his eye and quickly looked away, “what?”
“Just… you have a nice smile,” he said as he turned down a side street, “and a nice laugh.”
“Thank you,” your voice was brittle at the genuine compliment, “you’re funny.”
“Am I? I wasn’t trying to be,” he took the same short cut you took when you walked home from the convenience store which was closer than the plaza.
“And nice,” you said as he came onto your street, “you really didn’t have to drive me. You could’ve dropped me at the corner--”
“No way, I was raised better than that, and if you think I’m letting you carry that all in by yourself--”
“Raised to help little old ladies?” you mused.
“Raised to treat ladies properly,” he corrected, “especially pretty ones.”
“I’m married,” your heart pattered as you dared to flirt back, almost in disbelief that he was humouring you, “and your lies don’t work on me, young man.”
“Not that young,” he insisted as he pulled into the driveway.
You got out and went around to the trunk. He handed you the bag with the bread and other light products, and loaded up with the other bags.
“You get the doors, let me do the heavy work,” he said and nodded you towards the house.
You went ahead of him and unlocked the door. You let him inside and pointed him into the kitchen. He placed the bags on the counter and stretched his arms and hands as you set yours on the other side. The muscles of his arms moved under his skin and you could trace the lines of his torso through his grey tee.
“So,” he took out the bottle of Perrier, “this going in the fridge?”
“What-- you’ve done enough.”
“Fridge?” he ignored you and pulled out the other.
You gave a long blink and threw up your hands in surrender, “yes, please,” you came around and reached in to grab the whole grain buns, “bottom shelf.”
You finished unpacking your groceries and took the empty bags from Peter and shoved them under the counter. You stood and looked at him nervously as he watched you, his fingers tapping on the granite.
“Do you want a snack? Something to drink? Water?”
“I’ll have a water,” he said and moved to leaned his elbow on the countertop, his side snug to the edge.
“Sparkling or--”
“Regular’s fine,” he answered
“Ice? Lemon?” you pulled out a tall glass.
“Just ice is fine… then I’ll be out of your hair,” he said.
Ice clinked into the glass and you covered it with the distilled water from the fridge. You slid it onto the counter and stepped back.
“Oh, I… actually, it’s a good thing I ran into you,” he said and took a sip, “my aunt, she likes to garden too but she got some bulbs she’s not gonna use, I thought maybe… maybe you would like some to fill in the holes?”
“What kind?” you asked.
“Some daffodils and some crocuses, I think,” he said, “I could bring them over next week after work?”
“That sounds like a lot of work,” you scrunched your lips, “you could probably just give them to a neighbour.”
“It’s not out of the way,” he said, “you want them?”
You stared at him and thought. He was nice. Too nice.
“What?” he asked.
“Nothing, I… I’m sure you have a girlfriend you could be spending time with--”
“I don’t. Not anymore,” he interrupted.
“Oh, sorry,” you said, “I didn’t--”
“Like I said, I always wanna be the good guy,” he finished his water and the last of the cubes settled at the bottom, “thanks.”
“No, thank you,” you said as he set his glass in the sink and backed away, “really, you made my day so much easier.”
“I hope your weekend is better,” he said, “but…”
He didn’t finished and you folded your hands together as he hesitated by the hallway.
“But what?” you prodded.
“Nothing,” he shook his head, “nothing. I should go.”
“Okay,” you rubbed the back of your neck, “see ya.”
“Monday,” he confirmed as he turned to the doorframe, “I’ll bring the bulbs. Just after seven.”
“Right,” you slanted your lips and watched him go.
The door marked his departure and you turned to exhale and lean against the counter. You could still smell his rich cologne. Then you felt guilty. It was stupid to think he was doing anything more than being nice, that the flirting was anything but a joke, but still, you missed feeling that way and it should’ve been Wesley making you feel that.
💍
You squeezed the phone as you clenched your jaw so tight it hurt. Your eyes were wet and finally the tears were ready to start falling. The smell of steak filled the kitchen, another meal you wouldn’t eat. At the last minute, Wesley texted to tell you he was hitting the gym. Again. He was already late after a long meeting but promised he’d be home to eat.
So you waited for him to answer your furious phone call but got his voicemail instead. Your eyes narrowed at the bottle of wine and your chest knotted as the tone sounded.
“Wesley, this is it. I can’t do this anymore! I’m your wife. Do you even want to be with me? I can’t go on like this and now you won’t even answer my calls,” you snarled. You knew he had his phone on him as he no doubt had his Spotify work-out list on shuffle, “when you come home, you can sleep on the couch.”
You hung up and grabbed a stemmed glass from the cupboard. You filled it to the brim with Pinot Grigio but before you could taste it, the doorbell made you jump. You set down the glass and walked up the hallway. Just on the other side of the frosted glass was a silhouette. You opened the door and touched your forehead as you faced Peter.
“I totally forgot you were coming,” you breathed, “I’m so sorry. But thank you, you really didn’t have to--”
“Are you okay?” he asked as the paper bag in his hand crinkled.
“Yeah, I’m fine, I… thank you for the flowers,” you looked at the brown paper bag and he handed it over, another bag on his wrist; white with ribbon handles, “what’s that? You headed out for a date?”
“Um, no,” he said, “actually, I was just…” he pushed his fingers through his hairs, the reddish brown locks slightly curled with sweat, “I wanted to talk to you.” He looked past you and his warm eyes returned to yours, “Wesley isn’t home yet?”
“No, he won’t be for a while,” you backed up, “so you might as well come in. I have a steak no one’s gonna eat.”
“Yeah, he wouldn’t be,” Peter said glumly, “and steak sounds good.”
He closed the door behind him and followed you into the kitchen. You put the bulbs at the back of the counter and grabbed the bottle, “wine?”
“No thank you,” he said.
You plunked down the bottle and took a gulp of your wine before you turned to plate the steak and your chicken breast alongside the fried asparagus and roasted potatoes. You set the filet before him as he sat on the stool and climbed up across from him at the long island.
“Thank you,” he watched you slide a steak knife and fork towards him and his gaze lingered on your lips as you took another thirsty mouthful, “this is for you, actually.”
He pushed the white bag over to you and you smelled the subtle floral scent rising from it. You put your glass down and pushed open the top of the bag and peeked inside. You shook your head and rescinded your hand as if you were slapped. It was the same perfume from that day weeks ago.
“You… how?”
“You don’t remember?” he asked.
You thought back on the day you wanted to forget. He was the other shopper in the perfume section, the one who sent you that sympathetic look as Wesley reproached you. You winced and grabbed your utensils. You cut into the chicken and shoved it in your mouth. You swallowed loudly.
“Take it back,” you sniffed, “I don’t want it. I don’t deserve it.”
“You do. He doesn’t deserve you,” he carefully sliced into the medium rare steak.
“Is that what this is? Some perverted joke? A challenge?” you dropped your fork and knife, “you think you can seduce the sad housewife and then laugh at it? Sow your wild oats?”
“No, it’s nothing like that,” he calmly put down the silverware, “I… what I didn’t say when I showed up is I just came from the gym.”
You frowned in confusion and wrinkled your nose. You took another drink of wine as you tried to understand.
“I saw Wesley,” he said as he leaned on his elbow and pulled out his phone with his other hand, “I didn’t wanna say anything but… you’re here beating yourself up over him and-- just look.”
He slid his phone across the counter and you looked at the screen. Your entire body felt heavy and your veins filled with ice. You dropped your head into your hands as you tried to wipe the sight from your eyes; the image of your husband groping a woman in yoga pants, an act she wasn’t deterring.
“I knew it,” you sobbed as the tears burst forth and leaked down your palms, “I knew it. And why wouldn’t he? I’m old, ugly--” you sniffed and pulled your hands away to wipe them on your pants. Peter held out a paper towel and you took it as you avoided his eyes, “thank you but I think you should go. I’m humiliated enough.”
“You shouldn’t be alone,” he said as he climbed down from the stool and rounded the island, “he’s an asshole. He’s blind.”
“Please, Peter, just leave me alone,” you slid off the stool and he caught your shoulders. You looked up at him as you dabbed away the streaks of sadness with the paper towel, “Peter--”
“I’m not leaving,” he said firmly, “he’s out there having his fun, so why don’t you have some of your own?”
“Peter, that’s-- that’s wrong. I’m too old for you. And… I’m fat and--”
“You’re perfect,” he reached up to frame your chin with his hand, “you’re gorgeous,” his other hand trailed down your arm and to your hip, “that’s the first thing I noticed about you…” he pulled you closer and tapped your ass lightly.
“No, I can’t-- I just want to be alone,” you pushed on his arms and felt the thick biceps as he flexed and kept you close.
“Well, baby, what I want,” he turned you so that you were pinned between him and the island, “is for you to put on that perfume… I want you wearing nothing but that.”
“Peter,” you pushed on his chest that time and the hard muscle wall didn’t budge, “Peter, go--”
“Baby,” he bent and scooped you up suddenly.
His hands spread over your ass as he lifted you and crushed his lips against yours. You murmured in surprise and he placed you on the granite countertop. He parted from your lips as you sat up and he shoved your legs apart, inserting himself between your knees. He played with the bottom of the dress you’d worn in hopes of rekindling your dying marriage.
“We can go slow,” he tickled along your thighs and pulled back suddenly, “just a little at a time.”
He leaned in as he reached around you and grabbed the small white bag. He pulled out the perfume and snaked his hand around your neck. He pulled you to bend over him and he kissed your neck just before he sprayed a puff of perfume across your throat. He stood back and took a deep breath. He put the bottle on the counter and his hands went back to your skirt.
“Peter,” you caught his hands as they crept under the fabric, “please.”
You tried to slide forward and he stopped you as he grasped your hips and held you in place. He bit his lip as his eyes glimmered up at you. He drew a hand away and took the glass of wine and held it before your mouth.
“Drink, relax,” he cooed, “forget about him.”
You stared at him and he brought your hand up with his and wrapped it around the full body of the glass. He nudged it to your lips and watched you until you drank from the crystal rim. He smirked and lifted your skirt as he bent to bury his head beneath the folds.
You gulped and choked on the wine as your skirt fluttered down over his shoulders. You felt his finger on the lace trim of your panties and winced. He squeezed your thighs with his other hand and nuzzled the crotch of your underwear. You tried to close your legs but he kept them apart easily.
He curled his fingers under the elastic of your panties and tugged. He pulled until you lifted your ass just enough for him to get them free and he guided them down your legs before quickly parting them again.
You set down the glass and almost overturned it, the last mouthful splashing up the side. You pressed your hands to the granite and peered down at the shape of his head beneath your skirt. You gasped as his cool tongue grazed your warm folds and delved deeper.
“Peter…” you wisped and closed your eyes as you tried to hide from your own shame.
He purred as his tongue flicked over your clit and you twitched. He caressed the crease of your thigh with his fingers as he lapped at your, his other hand pressed against your stomach until you fell back across the counter. You arched your back instinctively and his hand cupped your tit through your dress.
He blindly pulled until your chest slipped out and pushed the cup of your bra as he teased your clit with his tongue. He felt along your cunt with his fingers and shoved his index inside of you. You moaned as he pushed another inside and curled them as he suckled on your bud.
Your core burned to life. Your entire being was set alight after months without affection. You quivered in delight and fear. Your nerves stormed both out of guilt and hunger. It felt so good but you knew it was wrong. The scent of the perfume filled your nose as your skin grew hot.
He moved his hand in time with his mouth as he doted on you. His touch intensified as your legs bent around the side of the island and your fingernails dragged along the granite, your voice rising without thought. He pinched your nipple and you cried out as you came in a wave of sheer pleasure and grabbed his wrist as you tried to steady yourself.
He eased off slowly as you trembled in the afterglow, his lingering touch tickled along your legs as he pushed your dress up. He pulled you to sit up and lifted the fabric over your head and ripped your sleeves free from your arms. He tossed as side the garment and swiftly covered your mouth with his so you tasted your own arousal on his tongue.
He unhooked your bra blindly and slid it off your arms. You were intensely aware of your nakedness and as you brought your arms up to cover yourself, he forced them down and ran his hands over your bare torso.
“Beautiful,” he said as he laid a trail of gentle pecks along your throat and chest, pausing to take a nipple in his mouth as he rolled the other between his fingers and sent a shiver through you.
He kneaded your sides and hips, his fingers danced along your thighs and he followed the path with his mouth, kissing and nipping your flesh. He lifted his head again as he took your hands and twined his fingers through yours. He tugged you gently until you slid off the counter and landed on your feet shakily.
“Baby, you’re so amazing,” he placed your hands on his chest and pushed them down his muscled torso and brought them back up beneath his tee shirt, “go on.”
He let you go and you continued to roll up his tee. He dipped his head and raised his arms to help you and you clung to the tee as it fell limp in your grasp. Dazed, he snatched the shirt from your hands and flung it. He once more pressed your hands to his chest and guided you in feeling the lines of his toned flesh.
He pushed your hands against the top of his jeans and leaned into you. He kissed your temple and whispered along your hairline, “turn around, baby.” He squeezed your ass and purred, “mmmm, please, I wanna see that ass.”
You blinked, dazed, and spun slowly. You caught yourself on the edge of the counter as your legs trembled and you heard the subtle zip. He kicked his foot between yours and pushed your legs apart as he led you back so that you were slightly bent against the island. He ran his nails down your back and gripped your hip with one hand as his other drew away from your skin.
You flinched as you felt his smooth tip against your ass and he rubbed it between your cheeks. You inhaled and held in your breath as his hold on your tightened and he angled his dick under your ass and grazed your cunt. He poked your entrance and pressed his chest to your back as his hand covered yours on the granite.
He slid into you and your voice fizzled in the air as he forced the air from your lungs. You pushed your head back and it met his shoulder as his other hand crawled down your front. He spread your folds with his fingers and swirled another around your clit as he tilted his hips and thrust into you slowly.
“Ah, Peter,” you slapped the counter and he shushed you as his hand left yours cold and his fingers stretched over your throat.
His motion picked up as the noise of him crashing into you echoed around the kitchen. Your eyes rolled back as he rammed into you even harder. You were on tiptoes as he was driven by the weak moans that leaked from your lips and your wet pleasure squelched around him. He pressed two fingers to your bud and rubbed until you squeaked and your thighs quaked around him.
“That’s it, baby,” he growled, “I bet you never cum like that for him.”
You whined and he sped up again. He pinned you against the counter so that the lip pressed into your stomach. He took his hand from your cunt and pushed your head down as he kept his other hand around your neck. He didn’t waver once as he fucked you.
“Touch yourself, baby,” he commanded, “I want you to cum again for me. I know you want to too.”
His thick breath warmed the air and grazed your back as he held you down and his hold on your neck tightened until silver stars rose in your vision. Your feet dangled against the tile and you reached down to play with your clit as it buzzed. It was only seconds before you were murmuring in ecstasy once more.
“Fuck, baby, can you feel that? The way your clinging to me,” he puffed as he slammed into you over and over, “he can hardly fill you, can he? Hmmm? Little man.”
You wheezed as he choked you and his other hand kept your head pinned. You heard a distant creak but could barely do more than keep your fingers moving as your heartbeat deafened you. You came again and croaked as your cunt squeezed him hungrily.
“What the fuck?” the voice broke your lusty trance and suddenly you were pulled away from the counter.
Your head lulled as Peter held it up and turned you around, his pelvis slapping against your ass as you faced your husband. Your mouth hung open as your blurred vision barely registered the scene and the deep grunts only got louder behind you.
“Look who’s here,” Peter rasped as he snaked his arm around you.
“The fuck are you doing?” Wesley sneered as your eyes closed and your ass rang with each thrust.
“What you can’t,” Peter snickered, “doesn’t she look so happy?” He grasped your chin and pushed his fingers into your mouth as he held your head up, “well, you into watching or you gonna let us finish, old man?”
