dean winchester and autism because this man is autistic and i will not accept otherwise:
his reaction to sam giving him the giant slinky at the end of 7x14 'plucky pennywhistle's magical menagerie'
actually physically stimming when he enters the bunker with sam in 15x14 'last holiday' and sees the christmas decorations
the boxing episode, 11x15 'beyond the mat', where dean spends the entire episode fanboying and (for lack of a better word) plays in the boxing ring
wearing the same thing (flannel, jeans, in earlier seasons the leather jacket) almost all of the time while not in disguise to work cases
eating the same thing (cheeseburger with extra onions or pie) at almost everywhere they go, as often as he can (about dean winchester and food, i could talk about that for hours he has so many issues with it and it's all john winchester's fault)
his ability to recite movies line for line, and his tendency to communicate almost entirely through references and movie quotes, and expecting people to understand what he means
about references, he makes jokes and references when it's not appropriate, he doesn't understand that something isn't appropriate in a situation where it isn't specifically pointed out to him, and he generally has a pretty messed up sense of empathy and inability to 'read the room'
‘you’re always calling me a geek, but you know every word to every led zeppelin song, backwards and forwards. you can discuss in detail every major rock drummer between ’67 and ’84… and you watch ‘jeopardy!’ every night.’ - directly quoted from sam winchester in 14x20 'moriah'
in 13x06 'tombstone' when they go into the motel and dean talks about the cowboys, identifying all of them and going into quite a bit of detail about a few of them, even though nobody asked him about it and he is absolutely infodumping. 'he really likes cowboys.' 'yes. yes, he does.'
his knowledge of cars, particularly baby, and how he takes her for a ride when he's sad because of the comfort she provides him. also about baby and comfort, the way he offers to let people drive baby when he realises that they're sad, thinking it'll make them feel better as she makes him happy and he doesn't understand how else to help
in 1x03 'dead in the water' he talks to lucas about how he didn't speak as a kid, he plays with the toy soldiers and it doesn't come across as playing with them to make lucas trust him, it actually comes across as him finding genuine enjoyment in it
in 1x15 'the benders' when he's talking to the kid who mentions godzilla, dean brightens immediately and goes off topic talking about his favourite godzilla film, and has to be reminded that he's working a case by sam
the entirety of 14x04 'mint condition', how dean gets to express his interests and be himself and how a lot of people have mentioned that he seems to be genuinely himself in that episode instead of the act he puts on
larping with charlie, no explanation needed
he shuts down when things go badly, often blasting music and ignoring everything and everyone around him
he always picks scissors when playing rock, paper, scissors, and it's actually something that comes up multiple times within the show - in 2x17 'heart', sam says, 'dean, always with the scissors,' and along the same lines, his excitement both times he actually wins the game
in 1x04 'phantom traveller', dean is terrified because of the plane and sam points out that he's humming metallica. he replies that it calms him down, and that just seems very autistic

Fic-tober Masterlist
Summary: You and Dalton watch Scooby-Doo and find yourselves in the episode, offering to help solve the mystery.
Warnings: spoilers for Scooby-Doo, Where are You? episode "Spooky Space Kook" (1x15), fluff, slight jealousy, brief mentions of the events of The Red Door (2023). 2.6k+ words
A/N: This is inspired by my love of Scooby-Doo, and the Supernatural crossover episode "Scoobynatural" (13x16)! I hope you enjoy and please let me know what you think! Happy Halloweekend! :)
Tumblr media
You’ve been begging Dalton to watch Scooby-Doo with you for weeks. It’s a Halloween must, but he keeps telling you he’ll do it later.
“It’s Scoob-tober, Dalton!” you exclaim as you collapse onto the bed.
He stares at you before shaking his head and dropping his shoulders. “Fine. Which episode are we watching?” he asks as he sits beside you, tossing an arm over your shoulders.
You squeal excitedly and grab the remote before leaning against his chest and answering, “Spooky Space Kook, A Night of Fright is No Delight, or Mine Your Own Business. Those episodes have the best villains, but you have to pick.”
Dalton looks down at you with furrowed brows as he asks, “Umm, Space Kook?”
“Excellent choice,” you say, nodding as you find the episode and press play.
As you settle into Dalton’s side, your head resting above his heart, he’s glad you convinced him. Even if he watches you instead of Scooby-Doo.
Just after the Space Kook lands the first time, red sparks light across the screen.
You lean forward as Dalton says, “Please tell me you see those too.”
Before you can answer, the TV turns off, and you fall to the ground.
➣➣➣➣➣
You hit the ground with a painful thud and turn to check on Dalton, shocked to see him in cartoon form before a cartoon background.
“Dalton, you’re a cartoon,” you say nervously, standing and wiping the dirt from your pants.
“You’re a cartoon,” Dalton parrots as he points at you.
“What just happened?”
“We were watching the show and then those sparks showed up,” Dalton answers.
“The red sparks. Do you think this is a Further thing?”
“No, we closed the door.”
A car sputters somewhere behind you, and you stop speaking, turning to follow Dalton’s hand as he points to a farmhouse in the distance.
You gasp as you see the source of the sputtering noise, hitting Dalton’s shoulder as you squeal, “That’s the Mystery Machine! We’re not just cartoons, we’re in Scooby-Doo!”
➣➣➣➣➣
You and Dalton approach the farmhouse from the same direction as Mystery Inc., listening to their conversation as you wait beside a tree, invisible to Scooby and the gang.
“Like, nobody home,” Shaggy says after their knock goes unanswered.
You point to the side of the porch just before the farmer appears with a shotgun and bellows, “Get off of my property! I’m sick of you reporters pestering me night and day! Now, get!”
Dalton pushes you slightly behind him as you watch the ordeal from the yard.
“Reporters? We’re not reporters,” Fred responds.
“No, uh-huh,” Scooby agrees.
“We just want to buy some gasoline,” Daphne says.
“Gas, huh? I don’t believe you. Now, get on out of here, the lot of you!” the farmer yells. “You two in the yard, too!”
Dalton steps back, pushing you with him. Your eyes are still on the gang as Fred glances over to see who the farmer is talking to. His eyes catch yours, and he smiles before turning to the farmer as Velma speaks.
“Excuse me, sir, but why would reporters want to bother you?” she asks.
“They’ve been running me ragged ever since it showed up.”
“It? What’s it?” Fred adds.
“A ghostly craft from another world moving across the sky like an evil spirit.”
Dalton tenses, and you raise your hand to press between his shoulder blades. It’s your silent way of reminding him that you’re with him and he’s not alone.
“Evil spirit?” Scooby repeats before swallowing harshly.
“You mean, like a haunted flying saucer?” Daphne questions.
“Right, but that’s not all. Something’s been creeping ‘round here ever since it showed up.”
“Then it must’ve just crept by,” Velma announces, “Look over there!”
She points to the footprints, which go right behind you and Dalton. Dalton looks at the tracks and then back to you.
“We need to get out of here,” Dalton whispers harshly.
“Footprints,” Fred says.
“Zoinks!” Shaggy exclaims.
Your eyes widen, and you tap Dalton’s back excitedly at the firsthand experience of hearing Shaggy say, ‘Zoinks.’
“I’ve never seen footprints like those before,” Daphne says.
“Neither have I,” Dalton agrees.
“They’re boots dipped in phosphorous,” you tell him.
Dalton turns to look at you with raised brows, and you shrug and say, “What? I love this episode.”
“I see ‘em all the time,” the farmer informs.
“They sure are strange-shaped tracks,” Velma says, leaning over to inspect them.
“Let’s us make tracks the other way,” Shaggy implores.
“He gets it; let’s listen to Shaggy,” Dalton mutters to himself.
“I’m with you!” Scooby agrees.
“Hold it!” Fred demands as the footprints fade. “They’re gone!”
“Hmm,” Velma begins, “Ghostly flying objects, strange tracks that glow in the dark…”
“And something creepy creeping around in the night,” Daphne finishes.
Dalton cocks his head as he watches Scooby get his tail bitten by a chicken before jumping toward Shaggy. Scooby overshoots his goal and lands in Dalton’s arm as he exclaims, “He rot me! He rot me! Oh, help, he rot me!”
Shaggy walks over to Scooby and Dalton, and he says, “Aw, you big chicken. It was only a chicken. Get down.”
Shaggy pushes Scooby from Dalton’s arms, and Dalton sighs with relief. Scooby chuckles as he hits the ground, and you kneel to pat his head as you listen to Fred.
“Well, those footprints weren’t made by a chicken. It looks like we’ve found ourselves a mystery,” he announces.
“Um, excuse me,” you call as you stand, laying your hand on Scooby’s head. “I’m a huge fan of Mystery Inc., and this is Dalton. We have some experiences with creatures like this. Any chance we could help solve this one?”
“Sure!” Fred agrees. “Sounds swell.”
You silently cheer and stick your hand into your pocket, surprised to see a Scooby Snack in your hand when you pull it out.
“Scooby,” you whisper, passing it to him as you and Dalton walk to the Mystery Machine.
“Mmm, rank rou,” Scooby says as he licks his lips.
Fred says your name, and when you look up, he smiles and asks, “Want to sit in the front with me?”
Dalton’s jaw clenches beside you as he waits for you to answer.
“I can sit in the back with Dalton and Scooby,” you respond. “But thanks!”
➣➣➣➣➣
“Sure was nice of the farmer to give us some gas,” Daphne says as Fred drives down the road.
“Yeah, now we can go look for that ghost craft,” Fred agrees before a high-pitched pulsing cuts him off.
“Well, we don’t have to look any further. There it is,” Velma points out.
“Zoinks! What a creepy-looking crate,” Shaggy yells.
“We’re in luck. It landed behind that hill,” Fred says, turning to follow it.
“Yeah, we’re in luck, and, like, it’s all bad,” Shaggy adds.
Dalton looks at you over Scooby’s head and nods his agreement.
➣➣➣➣➣
“It looked like it landed somewhere around here,” Velma says as everyone exits the van.
“What is this place, anyway?” Daphne asks.
“Looks like an abandoned airfield. Hasn’t been used in years,” Dalton answers.
Fred agrees with Dalton before smiling at you, causing Dalton to step closer to you.
“I’m for abandoning it, too. It’s, like, got the creeps!” Shaggy adds.
“Uh-oh!” Daphne calls. “Do you guys see what I see?”
“It’s those spooky glowing tracks again,” Shaggy says.
“Oh, no!” Scooby exclaims, jumping behind Shaggy’s legs.
“It’s our first clue, let’s follow them,” Fred says before walking alongside the footprints.
“Let’s don’t and say we did,” Shaggy suggests.
“But the gate’s locked. How will we get in?” Daphne points out.
The gate opens on its own, and Dalton turns to roll his eyes at you before flinching and smiling when you elbow him in the ribs.
“This is awesome,” you whisper as you step closer to him when Scooby jumps between you and Shaggy.
“Ghosts!” Scooby yells.
“You mean wind. The gate wasn’t locked. Come on!” Fred says.
➣➣➣➣➣
Fred calls you over and asks you to help him follow the tracks. Dalton stays right beside you as everyone heads toward a shed. The prints vanish into the shed, and Scooby jumps up to look in the window, surprised to see himself.
“What’s in there?” someone asks.
“Scooby!” Scooby answers.
Fred steps closer to you as you look into the window beside Scooby.
“It’s his reflection,” you say as you stand up.
“Window’s dirty,” Scooby adds.
As you step away from the window, you hear a humming sound from the other side of the door. Daphne asks what the sound is, and Fred expresses his confusion about how to get inside.
“May I?” Dalton asks before kicking the door and opening it.
“Wow!” Daphne expresses, grabbing Dalton’s bicep as she walks by, “You’re so strong, Dalton!”
Dalton looks at you, and you smile before asking, “We’re even?”
“Not even close,” he whispers as you walk in front of him.
You stop when you reach the generator, and Dalton’s hands land on your waist as he waits behind you.
“It’s the generator,” you announce, pointing to the device.
“Why would an abandoned airfield need a generator?” Daphne asks.
“And, like, why is it on?” Shaggy adds.
You turn your head at a strange sound and see the spaceship land in the field. Dalton turns to and alerts the gang.
“Let’s split up, gang, and find this space creature!” Fred commands. He invites you to come with him and Velma, but Dalton’s hand on your lower back feels like a better invitation.
“I think Dalton and I should go alone, we can cover more ground that way,” you suggest.
Fred agrees, and everyone goes their separate ways to find the Space Kook.
➣➣➣➣➣
“Do you know what’s happening right now?” you ask Dalton as you walk toward the radio tower.
“Fred is developing more of a crush on you?” Dalton suggests.
You bump your shoulder against him and laugh. “No, Fred just got stuck in a hoist, Scooby and Shaggy got caught up in sheets and think the other is a ghost.”
“You really do love this show.”
“Yeah. We do you think I tried so hard to get you to watch it with me?”
Dalton stops, wrapping his fingers around your wrist to make you stop.
“I’m sorry if you thought I didn’t want to watch it with you. I- just- I was trying not to spend time with you because I didn’t want to have to walk away if you didn’t feel the same way.”
You twist your hand to hold Dalton’s and step closer as you brush some of his hair out of his eyes.
“I do feel the same way, if it’s the way that makes you want to spend time with me.”
Dalton raises his hand to your neck, pulling you against his chest and tilting your chin toward his.
“I really want to kiss you,” he whispers.
“While I’m a cartoon?”
“You’re a very pretty cartoon.”
You shake your head and hear Scooby yell. Smiling at Dalton, you keep your hand in his and gesture with your head to where the gang is meeting.
“You still missed the entire episode,” you point out as you turn the last corner and see Scooby and Mystery Inc.
“We can watch it as many times as you want when we get back,” Dalton says.
“Will you actually watch it or just try to kiss me?”
Dalton simply looks at you as you join the group. Mystery Inc. expresses that no one found any clues.
“It seems to me that this ghost is using this airfield for something else besides haunting,” Velma says.
“Gas,” Scooby announces, pointing to the exhaust pipe of an old Jeep with flat tires.
Dalton looks under the car with Fred, telling the girls about the extra set of usable wheels. As they stand, the car drives away, and an entire army of Space Kooks appears. Scooby and Shaggy retreat to the radio tower as Fred, Velma, and Daphne run the other way.
Shaggy uses the radio speakers to call the gang to the tower, expressing that he found something, but you remain still.
“Should we go?” Dalton asks.
You shake your head and answer, “Space Kook beats them there and Shag and Scoob parachute down. We’ll wait for the sheriff.”
Dalton wraps an arm around your shoulders, content to wait with you. When Scooby returns, you give him more Scooby Snacks and kneel to pet him.
“How did you know to come, Sheriff?” Velma asks.
“I called. I saw your van was still here and got worried,” the farmer answers as he approaches.
Space Kook appears behind you, and when he sees the sheriff, he runs into a building labeled ‘Research Lab.’ Fred is waiting by a panel and presses a button after Space Kook runs by, turning on the wind tunnel. As the wind picks up, the helmet comes off, and the phosphorous on his boots illuminates.
“Well, I don’t believe it,” the farmer exclaims. “It’s Henry Bascomb, my next door neighbor.”
“But what about those weird noises and the flying thing?” Daphne asks.
“C’mon, I’ll show you!” Shaggy announces before leading them to the radio tower.
“It was a very clever plan. Here’s our ghost craft,” Fred says before turning on a projector.
“But what about those odd voices?” Daphne asks.
“It was just a speeded-up soundtrack…” Fred begins.
“Played over the loudspeaker,” Shaggy finishes.
“But we did see a whole bunch of those creepies over by the motor pool,” Daphne points out.
“Stuffed dummies, if I had to bet,” Dalton suggests.
“And I’d bet that crazy jeep was run by remote control!” Shaggy agrees.
“The last remaining puzzle in my mind is ‘why?’” Fred says.
“I can answer that. This Bascomb fella got wind that the Air Force was planning to open the field again and would be needing more land for jets,” the sheriff explains.
“Aha! So that’s it! He wanted to scare us off so he could pick up the land cheap,” the farmer concludes.
“And I’d have done it, too, if you kids hadn’t come along,” Bascomb yells.
“Weren’t you kids scared like the rest of us?” the farmer asks.
“Oh, no. Solving mysteries is our hobby. It takes a lot to scare us,” Shaggy answers.
Fred turns on the Space Kook laugh soundtrack, causing Scooby to jump into Shaggy’s arms and Shaggy to jump into Dalton’s.
➣➣➣➣➣
“So, where are you going now? We’re on the hunt for another mystery if you’d like to come,” Fred offers as Daphne talks to Dalton.
You look at Dalton and smile. “We have to get home. Thank you so much, Fred, this was a dream come true. Working with you was everything I dreamed of.”
“No problem,” he says, hugging you. “It would be an honor to have you back sometime.”
You smile, and he climbs into the Mystery Machine, followed by Velma and Daphne, who wave at you while Dalton returns to your side. Scooby stops before you, and you kneel, petting him as you feed him Scooby Snacks.
“Can I have a hug, Scooby?” you ask, smiling as he indulges you and lets you hug him.
“Like, thanks for everything,” Shaggy says before opening the door for Scooby. “See ya around!”
You watch the Mystery Machine drive away and turn back to Dalton. He pulls you into a hug and brushes his hand over your hair.
“Thank you,” you whisper against his chest.
“Of course. Now let’s get home so I can kiss real you.”
“Scooby Dooby Doooooo,” you howl.
When your voice fades, you look expectantly at Dalton. He sighs before copying you, and everything fades to black.
➣➣➣➣➣
You open your eyes and find yourself on the couch, wrapped in Dalton’s arms again.
“Start the episode over,” Dalton says, slipping his hands onto your cheeks.
“We’re not going to watch it, are we?” you ask as you press play again.
“Does Scooby-Doo like Scooby Snacks?” Dalton responds, smiling against your lips as he kisses you.

While they unravel the secret of time travel together, she discovers secrets hidden in her past.
This is a Whump list for Park Jin Gyeom (Played by Joo Won)
I actually had a lot of fun whating this drama, whether it was me laughing at it or with it. The story was all over the place and lacked continuity even if it was a time travel drama, but the characters were great.

#everything about this scene means a lot to me but the little fact that “complicated doesn’t mean broken” can literally describe hope and lizzie individually but also their dyamic and how much they’ve grown and how far they’ve come and hope’s little smile like... remember in 1x15 when lizzie was having that breakdown and she went to find josie to get help and josie told her that lizzie did that to herself and she chose to go through that and hope told her that lizzie can’t control her brain chemistry and she was SO fucking adamant in letting lizzie know and understand that she did NOT judge her for the way that her brain works... and to all of this like UGH they have just grown so much and LIZZIE HAS GROWN SO MUCH and i’m so glad that no matter what they get to live together forever in their complicated and unbreakable dynamic<3

When is the “Real” Anniversary of Mulder and Scully’s Partnership?
In The X-Files, March 6th marks the anniversary of when Dana Scully became partners with Fox Mulder.
While you can anticipate many commemorative tweets, you might notice a discrepancy when it comes to the year. Is it the 30th or 31st anniversary?
Find out in the following exploration 🔎
[As always, because of Tumblr’s photo limit on posts, this thread looks a lot better on Twitter]
The Pilot episode of "The X-Files" aired on September 10th, 1993 on the FOX Network, but it took a long time to get there.
Chris Carter first conceptualized the idea for the show in March 1992, and he began working on the first draft in September 1992 (Lowry, 16). The FOX Network ordered a script by November 1992 (Lowry, 13). The first draft of the script was submitted in December of that year. Further revisions – from which the shooting script was compiled – were made in March of 1993.
Principal photography took place over fourteen days in March 1993 (Lovece, 47). Post-production work on the episode was finished by May 1993, with the final version of the episode being assembled only three hours before its preview screening for FOX executives (Edwards, 37). With that, "The X-Files" was slated to join the 1993-1994 FOX Network lineup.
While many television shows are flexible with timelines, "The X-Files" tends to generally reflect real-world time. So with most production occurring in 1993, what's the problem?
According to research done by avid fans at Eat the Corn, Chris Carter set the "Pilot" in March 1992 to honor when he first conceived of the idea. A small ode to the birth of "The X-Files."
While a small detail, the 1992 v. 1993 debate has plagued fans every March for decades.
While the timestamps in the "Pilot" indicate 1992, there's a plethora of in-show, direct references to support that it's canon Mulder and Scully started working together in 1993.
In honor of Mulder and Scully, let me present you with the facts so you can make an informed decision
To begin, here is a screenshot from the "Pilot" that indicates 1992. Mulder and Scully met the day before they begin investigating the case, so they were partnered together and first introduced on March 6th.
Tumblr media
While "Deep Throat" (1x02) doesn't reference a date, a timestamp in "Squeeze" (1x03) indicates 1993. You can also see/hear references to 1993 in "The Jersey Devil" (1x05), Shadows (1x06), "Ghost in the Machine" (1x07), "Ice" (1x08), "Eve" (1x11), and "Lazarus" (1x15).
Tumblr media
This is a trend "The X-Files" typically follows. The first half of the series is generally set in the fall while the latter half is set in the spring, mirroring the traditional television schedule (barring finale/premiere two-parters and post-production changes in episode order).
Based on "The X-Files"’s tendency to reflect the year a given episode is airing, it can be presumed the "Pilot" is included in that (barring Carter's self-referential Easter egg).
While I recognize the hypocrisy of saying "don't believe this timestamp" by providing evidence of other timestamps, I hope to demonstrate that if you believe it's 1992 solely because it was shown in canon, there is an overwhelming amount of similar evidence to prove the contrary.
Additionally, if they met in 1992, that means there is a whole year of their partnership we never see.
Many of the lines in season one were written to highlight the newness of their relationship and would sound awkward coming from partners of over a year.
In seasons one and two, there aren't many allusions to the "Pilot" or Scully being assigned to The X-Files. However, as I'll demonstrate below, there are several references made in every season for the rest of the show's run that solidify 1993 as the correct date.
Keep in mind that "The X-Files" generally uses the year of the episode's airing as the in-show date, so while many of my examples will only have a Month/Day reference, we can assume from the airing year.
Syzygy (3x13)

Airing Date: January 26th, 1996
SCULLY: Look, we’ve been working together for, what, two years now? We have different opinions, but I didn’t expect you to ditch me.
Evidence: Presuming the three-year mark is March 1996, this indicates 1993
Musings of a Cigarette Smoking Man
Written By: Glen Morgan
Airing Date: November 17th, 1996
While watching CSM's history, we see the moments leading up to his appearance in the "Pilot" wherein the 1992 appears on screen once more.
Evidence: 1992 Timestamp
This moment of Musings of a Cigarette Smoking Man is the piece of evidence (often the only) that pro-1992 fans use to justify the 1992 date.
It could be said that, while writing his connections to the "Pilot", Glen Morgan rewatched the episode and used 1992 to keep continuity.

Evidence: 1993
It is valid to point out that this one could be discounted being that we know Scully's birthday is in February and they met in March -- meaning that they would've only been together for three of her birthdays.
However, her line is very explicitly "four years I've known you"

This episode is one of those “back from break” episodes that takes place in Fall of the previous year, so the “present day” parts of this episode occurs in 2000 -- meaning the eight year anniversary hasn’t happened yet. It more than implies 1992 would be “before her time.”

------
KALLENBRUNNER: She gave up the miracle child? The proof of everything that she and Mulder claim that they've risked their lives for over the last nine years - she just sent it off to some strangers?
------
REYES: You don't care what these people have sacrificed over the last nine years - what's been lost to their cause.
------
MULDER: I'd like to congratulate you on succeeding where so many before you have failed. A bullet between the eyes would have been preferable to this charade. But I've learned to pretend over the past nine years - to pretend that my victories mattered only to realize that no one was keeping score.

Babylon (10x05)
Written by: Chris Carter

SCULLY: Nobody but the FBI's Most Unwanted. I've been waiting twenty-three years to say that.
Evidence: Direct reference to the “Pilot.” 1993.
To sum it up, there are 23 episodes (over 1/10th of the series) that reference 1993 as being the year Mulder and Scully met, 4 episodes (technically 3 since it’s a repeated line in Tunguska/Terma) that indicate 1992, 2 that imply 1994, and 1 that I can’t read.
It is worth noting that many television pilots end up looking different than the rest of the show (I mean... we don’t even get the classic X-Files theme in the Pilot, and Scully’s hair isn’t quite the red we’ve all come to know and love). Pilots are the ‘pitch’ in the hopes they’ll be approved for more, and sometimes the network exectutives say “okay, but change xyz,” resulting in actor changes, character alterations, and pivoting directions. One could say the Pilot date shouldn’t be taken at face value for this reason.
Also worth noting, 1992 isn’t treated like an accident. Like many other shows, The X-Files has made alterations to certain details they wanted to change before the DVD releases. One such example is that Gillian Anderson’s wrist tattoo was accidentally left in during a scene that aired, but you can see it has been edited out on subsequent releases because Scully doesn’t have a wrist tattoo. This proves that they want the show to be as accurate as possible when they release it. Since they haven’t changed the 1992, it serves to illustrate that it is likley a meaningful Easter Egg for Chris Carter, and not a true canoncial fact he sticks by seeing as many of the above references to 1993 were made by Chris himself.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Despite my 1993 propoganda, I know damn well we will all see a bunch of “Happy 31st Anniversary” posts here in a few days. I’ve been on those X-Files Facebook fanpages enough to know that if you post “Happy 30th Anniversary,” an angry, self-righteous bro will post a screenshot of the timestamp and say “Actually, it was 1992.” The X-Files’ popularity made it a hit with general audiences who see 1992 on screen and take it for what it is, and The X-Files’ appeal to cult fandoms inspired anal-retentive fans like myself to look deeper and find the 1993 written in the margins (over-and-over).
Above all else, I encourage everyone to celebrate it however they want, at the end of the day, I think it’s beautiful that a thirty year old show is still being celebrated by its fans and recognized as an important piece of pop culture and television history.
I will end this thread with one final quote from Scully: “The truth is out there... but so are lies.”

“I personally headcanon, and I think there's enough to go off in canon to support it, that Dan was closer to Alison than Rufus before she left.” Okay I love this take and it makes me sooo curious what the Humphrey family dynamic was actually like before Alison left and Dan stepped into a more parental role with Jenny!! The only Humphrey childhood anecdotes I can specifically remember are the one from 1x06 where Jenny tells Serena the story about 5 year old Dan being terrified of the Ice Capades, and the one from 1x15 that Rufus initially misremembers:
Rufus Humphrey:
[to Jenny] You used to cry when I didn't walk you to school.
Jenny Humphrey:
That wasn't me. That was Dan.
Dan Humphrey:
I was six. It was a very emotional time for me, post T-ball.
And the subtext of the 1x15 bit stands out to me, because in the show’s present it’s obviously Dan who’s afforded all of the autonomy and treated more like an equal by Rufus while Jenny’s just a kid in need of protection, yet in these few glimpses we’re given of the past Jenny’s the one who seems to have been the more independent and self-reliant kid, while Dan comes across as having been a lot more sensitive and delicate when he was a child.
I’m curious what the early/middle childhood sibling relationship was actually like between Dan and Jenny - were they parented more equally back then and did they therefore have a more equal relationship, or was Jenny always treated as the more problematic of the two? Were Rufus and Jenny ever afforded the easier going, buddy-buddyish type of bond that Dan and Rufus have when Alison was around to be The Mom™️, and is that why Rufus kind of sucks as a disciplinarian in the present even though he’s otherwise a decent dad? Or did Rufus and Dan only develop that type of relationship as a direct consequence of Alison’s departure? And at what point did Alison become so fed up with her marriage and her life that she decided moving away and giving up primary custody of her kids was the best thing for everyone, and how long did that tension simmer beneath the surface?
I've kind of always assumed that Alison was doing the bulk of the child rearing. I don't think Rufus was an absent father, but I do think it was the traditional gender role stuff of Rufus focuses on keeping the family afloat by running the gallery while Alison stays home with the kids. So when Alison leaves, Rufus has to become a lot more involved with the day-to-day of raising children than he ever was before.
With what I know of sibling dynamics, I kinda feel like Dan being the sensitive, needy one kinda pushed Jenny into being the more self-reliant one. Like all kids are sensitive and needy but the way they express it is formed by the dynamics of their home. But because Dan was the older one, he did mature first, and you know, being an eldest sibling myself, your parents do start to rely on you at a certain point to help with your younger sibling, which clearly is what happened with Dan.
I think Jenny probably only really became the "problematic" child when she started at Constance immediately prior to season 1. I think a lot of Rufus, Dan, and Alison's reactions to Jenny that season imply that they're not used to her acting like this/that they're seeing a new side to her. Which makes sense if this is Jenny's first year in the prep school system and the Humphrey sibs went to public school K-8.
Rufus does a lot of the typical dad double standard stuff when parenting his son vs his daughter, which makes me think that even though Dan and Rufus weren't as close before Alison left, they could still be buddy-buddy in a father-son way. While with Jenny, I could see her being a daddy's girl when she was younger, but her father didn't look at her like a "buddy" in the same way he did his son, if that makes sense? But like I said, I think Dan and Rufus truly became more like peers when Alison left and Dan stepped up into a parental role.
And then as for Alison...I mean, she gave up her artistic dreams to be a mom. Rufus at least had the gallery to go to during the day, while she was at home with the kids. I think she has a line somewhere about how her entire adult life has been about Rufus, so it sounds like it's the very typical thing that happens in a marriage where the woman kinda ends up giving up her identity to focus on being a wife and a mother and then she wakes up one day and doesn't know who she is anymore. I imagine it's the kind of thing that's "slowly, then all at once" where she slowly loses herself and becomes unhappier as the years go on and then she woke up one day in the spring of 2007 and said "that's it, I'm done" and decided then and there to leave for Hudson for the summer.
And part of me really gets it and another part of me really doesn't, because how could you just give up having custody of your kids like that? Like Rufus and Alison never seem to have a custody battle, my guess is that they have nothing in writing, Rufus has no qualms about her staying in the loft with the kids while he's on tour in between seasons 1 and 2, and it's initially his idea to send Jenny to Alison at the end of season 3. So it's fully her choice to stay in Hudson and rarely visit. Which I know is just cause of how TV production works, but in universe...yeah I don't really fully know how she was able to just...go months and months without seeing her kids like that. Especially because she seems very maternal when we do see her with them. Idk. In my Alison fic, I decided that it's because while she felt strongly she had to be in Hudson, she had moved around a lot herself when she was a kid and didn't want to uproot her own kids like that.
But yeah, the show never really takes the time to explore why she went all the way up to Hudson, instead of just getting her own place in the city, or write throwaway lines about her calling or visiting beyond season 1 so it's all just up to your own interpretation.

the middle chunk of s1 is full of episodes depicting the monstrous side of humans. 1x10, yes the motw is an evil ghost doctor, but the man was already evil before he died, torturing patients. then 1x11, yes the scarecrow is doing the killing, but it's the townspeople that are the real monsters, orchestrating the kidnapping and sacrifices of innocent people to ensure the prosperity of their town. then 1x12, Sue Ann traps the reaper to do her bidding, targeting innocent people who she personally views as undesirable and deserving of death. 1x13, ghost truck is haunted by racist dude that was already monstrous before he died. 1x14, shows the monstrous side of humans in how abusive max's father and uncle were. max is also depicted as the "motw", albeit a sympathetic one. and then 1x15, the benders are just humans who are completely monstrous, kidnapping and hunting innocent people for sport.
and it's just really, really interesting that so much of s1 focused on showing that humans can definitely be monsters too. that a monster isn't always about what you are, but what you do. which is important when it comes to all of sam's special children stuff. because he's so worried about becoming some kind of monster. he's worried that his psychic abilities make him a freak and Other. and he starts projecting a lot of those fears onto dean, assuming that dean "looking at him weird" means that dean thinks he's a monster. but the thing is, dean doesn't think that! dean keeps telling sam they'll figure this out and that he personally won't let anything happen to him. yes, dean is worried, but not so much about sam having these abilities but more-so what could happen to sam because of these abilities. they don't know if these visions are dangerous! they don't know if there are side effects! they don't know what the cause of these visions are, and that is scary. dean's number one job has always been to protect sam, so yea these sudden abilities are worrying when they have no idea what could happen to sam because of them. but dean tells sam point-blank in 1x14 that simply having psychic abilities does not make him the same as max or any other "monster." he reminds sam the difference is in what you do.
DEAN What are you talking about. The dude's nothing like you.
SAM Well. We both have psychic abilities, we both...
DEAN Both what? Sam, Max is a monster, he's already killed two people, now he's gunning for a third.
simply having psychic abilities is not what makes max a monster. it's the fact that he's used those abilities to kill people. and while maybe the first two deserved it, the step-mom is innocent (and likely a victim herself). also they literally just worked with missouri, a psychic, and dean never expressed any negative view of her or desire to kill her for having those abilities. because the psychic abilities and powers are not the problem and not the thing that makes one a monster. just like later in s2 the good vampires get a pass. because it's not about what you are, but what you do.

I found this Glee game around Tumblr but the creator's profile is disabled. If anyone recognizes it let me know and I'll mention it!
1. Favourite season 1 episode: The Power of Madonna (1x15) I literally love everything about this episode. Especially the introduction of cheerio!Kurt and the 4 Minutes performance! Pure gold.
2. Favourite season 2 episode: Original Song (2x16) Do I need to specify that? The beginning of klaine 💘💖💞
3. Favourite season 3 episode: I'm undecided between The First Time (3x05) and Nationals (3x21) The first one because, of course, klaine. The Nationals episode is too good, though. It shows their coming together as a group and the songs are beautiful. And then they win! Nothing else to say.
4. Favourite season 4 episode: I'm not a fan of season four, so it's hard to choose. I would say I Do (4x14) because of, again, klaine scenes which are BEAUTIFUL (horny!Kurt is what I love most). But I would say maybe Wonder-ful (4x21) for the positivity of the episode. Super cute.
5. Favourite season 5 episode: Here I feel I must necessarily mention two episodes. Love, love, love (5x01) and Tina in the Sky with Diamonds (5x02). The first for the most beautiful marriage proposal in history. The second for Hey Jude. What happened to Tina is atrocious and their way of consoling and support her is wonderful. This is the real Glee!
6. Favourite season 6 episode: Am I repetitive? Who cares! A wedding (6x08) because "There's no one else" makes me scream every time. I loved the idea of them getting married just like that, out of nowhere, without some couples therapy first? No. But they love each other and I'm okay with that.
7. Episode that makes me cry: The Quarterback (5x01) enough said. But also Grilled Cheesus (2x03) I see myself very much in what happens to Kurt. It makes me cry every time.
8. Episode that makes me laugh: Previously Unaired Christmas (5x08) I'm probably the only one but the silliness and surrealism of this episode makes me pee my pants.
9. Favourite tribute episode: again, The Power of Madonna (1x15) this is seriously amazing. Just iconic.
10. Favourite Christmas episode: A Very Glee Christmas (2x10) OBVIOUSLY because of Baby It’s Cold Outside. But I also really like Glee, Actually (4x10) if it weren't for the Jake and Puck part that I find very boring... please don't hate me.
11. Episode with the best songs: I would say Nationals. And Rachel sings what I think is her best solo of the series. I get goosebumps thinking about it.
12. Favourite sectionals episode: Sectionals (1x13) because of Don’t Rain on My Parade and My life would suck without you.
13. Favourite regionals episode: Original Song (2x16) nothing can beat it (we pretend that Candles does not exist)
14. Favourite nationals episode: Nationals (3x21) of course!!!
15. Episode most people like but I don’t: Blame It on the Alcohol (2x14) okay. Here I think I'm going to get a lot of criticism. It is definitely funny and hilarious, but I CANNOT accept Rachel's selfishness toward what she calls her best friend. I'm sorry but that's the way it is. I also cannot stand that Kurt is called biphobic. He's not biphobic: he's just a 16-year-old boy in love and jealous who couldn't give a good speech at the moment, that's all.
16. Episode most people dislike but I like: The Hurt Locker Part 2 (6x05) I literally love everything about this episode. It is INSANE and just so funny. That klaine kiss... *swoon*
@shame-is-a-wasted-emotion @kurtsascot @special-bc-ur-part-of-it @annepi-blog @justgleekout @klaine-in-the-impala @bitbybitwrites, if you want 🫶🏻
Even those I haven't tagged, do it!!!

Hi! I just started binging Outlander. Do you by chance have any gifs of the hammer scenes in episodes 1x15 and 16?
First of all yay to starting Outlander!! I hope you're enjoying it!
Secondly, I don't think I have any gifs of that part. I haven't giffed that episode a lot myself just because there's a lot in it I can bring myself to rewatch. And I don't think I've seen anyone else gif that particular scene either. However, if you'd like I can totally add it to my to gif queue! I wouldn't mind.
