we shouldn't agree with erik or charles at the start. they are both pushed to extremes in their ideologies: charles looks for "cures" and only shows off "pretty" mutants, while erik believes in Homo superior and that humans are inherently evil

it is only after fighting with one another that they realize the problems with their own ideologies. charles stops looking to cure all mutants, erik realizes that humans are not a monolith. every time they compromise, their ideologies become closer and closer

eventually, as old men, they finally agree. they create genosha, a haven for mutants, but reach out to other countries and push for progress

both of them are cautionary tales: a world without compromise, without exceptions, is not realistic or kind. only time can teach this, which is why they reconcile late in their lives- the path to a safer, kinder future always lies somewhere in between extremes

Cherik is such a gorgeous love story I often forget it's not canon.

Like, objective proof aside, imagine a love so undying it has persisted after so many fights, betrayals and wars in every universe and will continue to do so even if the earth stops spinning, even when everything is reduced to the ground. The love will persist, because it feels older than the universe itself, and it will do so no matter how much either of them tries to bury it or stop it. Its a love that has changed their lives, the lives of so many, it has changed the world in each and every reality where it's born. he enjoys cooking together or playing chess, even just being in the same room together

he makes little trinkets and sometimes even jewellery out of metal

to an outsider it might seem like he doesn't care much or that he's inattentive, but he listens

he makes sure you never run out of your favourite tea, snacks, alcohol etc. and whatever else you mention, will magically appear sooner or later in your room

he is the type of person to come home with an absurd amount of whatever you mentioned liking the day before

also, that man is touch starved as fuck

so while he might not actively reach out to you, in the beginning at least, he does enjoy receiving physical affection

meaning, the way he feels loved/likes to receive love is physical touch

i guarantee you this man will melt when you run your fingers through his hair or snuggle up against him

when you to fall asleep he will hold you close in his arms so that he knows you're safe

he absolutely adores it when you two stand close together and you reach your hand out to cup his cheek, letting him lean into it

whenever sitting besides each other he will put his arm up behind you on the backrest

he would never admit it but he definitely is a little bit disappointed if you don't lean into him when he does it

Hear me out

It was stated at one point that Erik's powers would cause him to have headaches and seizures. Typically, seizures don't have significant effects on the brain but apparently if frequent or long lasting enough they can. It's also said that exposure to high levels of electromagnetic fields can create symptoms similar to that of neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's. My theory is that Erik experiences such wild mental instability not just because of trauma and/or mental illness but because he is a walking EMF generator, and that regular exposure is altering his brain function and is essentially scrambling his brain constantly.

Considering how old Erik is, he has been exposed to electromagnetic fields for basically his ENTIRE LIFE. It could explain why (beyond real world narrative reasons) Erik is normal and reasonable sometimes and other times he'll raid the white house or tear up a city in a fit of rage. It could also explain (at least in my headcanon) why Lorna (considering everything she's been through) has similar bouts of mental illness and fits of rage as well. These bipolar tendencies were also theorized by Moira, which she tried and failed to remedy in Erik. Basically, Erik and Lorna have been steeped in EM Radiation and it's making them sick the same way Firestar's powers gave her cancer.

When Peter was way younger he had difficulty pronouncing the word ‘magneto’. So to make things easier Erik allowed him to use ‘magenta’ instead. At school Peter told his good buddy Scott that his dad Magenta was a supervillain who was so powerful that even god himself would shiver in front of him.

• You, as luck would have it, joined “Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngers” shortly after its grand opening and your mutation earned yourself an immediate popular reputation.

— Granted, being born with a botanical-related mutation is both terrifying yet fascinating since you can bloom the most beautiful of flowers.

• Charles’ first reaction of you was bottled up initially, to keep things professional, but as time went on, his feelings for you grew.

• There would be times throughout the year where you’d gift him the most magnificent of plants that ever did grow. Roses, succulents, orchids, and so much more. This was a way for you to show him your appreciation for allowing you to be accepted into his school whilst not-so-subtly show your affection toward him.

— Needless to say, it worked like a charm.

• Charles was always protective over you. He’d use his abilities to make people stay far from you at times if he thought that they had feelings for you.

— There was an instance where he butted into the conversation you were having with Hank. It won’t be noticeable at first, but as the years went on, he became much more impatient.

• He does use his powers occasionally to read your mind, but immediately stops if and when you catch on.

• Charles will always be considerate of your space and comfort. He realizes that he is being selfish but he does find joy whenever you have to come over to talk to him.

• While you do love him, you are also known to be incredibly stubborn which is why you felt conflicted when Charles initially asked you to be his girlfriend and then later wife.

— As your relationship advanced, so did his obsession with you.

• He wants you by his side almost every minute of the day or at least to be holding you to show that you were his. No one else. This includes but is not limited to having an arm wrapped around your waist, holding your hand, hugging, or kissing your temple.

• Given that you’re stubborn, you always try to do things on your own since it can be a little exhausting not having any alone time. This rightfully upsets Charles.

— Don’t upset him. He’s terrifying when he’s angry. I mean, who are you to say “no” to him?

First Class Headcanon

Training with Pietro is the best way to increase your speed and stamina. Pietro can beat everyone and Erik tells everyone he trained with his son to really get into shape. Its like Rocky's chasing the chicken, but with his son.

So, Charles one day decides to race Pietro and Charles wanting Pietro to vary his speeds and focus on control; they do this for hours. This why in the Soviet Union, Charles can so easily follow Erik to the Russian general's mansion.

By the end, Charles is out of breath, sweating, and just exhausted; he takes a nap on the grass and Pietro collapses on his chest and decides to sleep with him. Very cute images all around.

Erik comes to find them with water bottle, pleasantly surprised to find the two of them and thinks I might just pour some water on his head to wake him up. Charles says don't you dare. Erik picks up his sohn and gives Charles a hand to help him up, before handing him water. Erik has gotten a could ice bath ready and afterwards he's going to give him a massage.

you've been moving your shoulders and neck a bit, trying to loosen some of the tension that build up over time

from stress or work or maybe just sitting at your desk all day

what matters is, that it hurts and you can't seem to get rid of it

so he walks over to you and places his hands on your shoulders

he presses a kiss to the top of your head and starts to gently apply pressure and move his thumbs

he doesn't say anything, just wants to make sure you feel good

let's be honest, this man spend years without receiving or showing affection. no real positive physical touch, let alone verbal affection

but he tries

he's also very touch starved but doesn't know how to properly communicate/express his needs for hugs and all that

it took him some time to get to the point of reaching out for you first, but he has so much love to show once he learns how

erik is possessive as well as protective

so most of the time when he gets like that, he will stand right behind you and glare at everyone daring to look your way

and sometimes, if he gets especially jealous, he will sneak an arm around your waist and hold you close to his side

X-Mansion headcanons because X-men brainrot

Jean once accidentally lifted the whole mansion because she was so happy to see Scott alive after a long mission. (I hc that when Jean feels a strong emotion she just makes things float)

Peter once filled the bathtub with twinkies. His excuse: I needed somewhere to stash my twinkies.

Jean, Scott, Peter, Jubilee and Ororo all made Erik listen to metal music because he can control metal.

He hated it.

Peter once slipped and fell in front of Erik.
