You were taking a short cut to your apartment through the same alley way you would see a suspicious man that lurked around. You at first assumed he was someone homeless, someone struggling, but he was the complete opposite.
He was infamous man who knew exactly how to solve all of your problems for the right price. You had no clue this dangerous man was one that you passed by everyday after work. Sometimes you’d see a group of men rather than just the single man you saw, those days you’d avoid going there.
That same gangster noticed you, everyday after 3 pm like clockwork you passed by him. It was almost like a routine that you had. He wondered who you were, what you did for work, where you lived, anything and everything.
He was incredibly curious about you for some strange reason. Maybe it was the way you put yourself together, the way your tight pencil skirt clung onto your hips, or maybe it was the slightly echoey clicking from your heels.
He took it upon himself to follow you one day. He effortlessly followed you home without suspicion. He was now standing in front of your apartment complex. This was a bit of a challenge for him, there were many other apartments next to yours, he just had to find out which one it was.
Everyday, he now made it his routine to follow you home. Everyday he got riskier and riskier. The first step being entering the building, the next entering the elevator with you, then finding out which apartment was yours, which resulted in many break-ins you’d had no knowledge of.
You were just on your phone, in the same elevator as your stalker, not having a clue of how dangerous he was, what he wanted from you, and what he so desperately wanted to do.
Your heels now making less noise, stepped onto the soft carpet of the apartment hallways. He exited the elevator and waited until you were sleeping to start picking at your door lock. He knew you were sleeping because he figured out that you would sleep every single time you got home. The way your sleepy demeanor begged to go to bed and your soft yawns.
He heard a click as he swiftly unlocked your door, entering without a care in the world. He knew it was risky to do all of this, the chances of him getting caught and thrown into jail were high. Yet he still did it, he still followed you and still broke into your house when he needed to see you again.
He watched your chest rise and fall, hearing your soft breathing, paying attention to the way you quietly mumbled in your sleep. He wondered if you were ever going to come up to him. Should he just go to you instead? No.. he can’t, he’d be too excited if he did approach you. Maybe you’d even be too scared to talk to him if he was.
He was so worried about everything it hurt. He decided he would try and find something that could at least help with his worries. Maybe you needed a gun, or a body guard! Someone to disappear? He was clinging onto false hope that a innocent woman like you would even think about doing any of that!
He used your Face ID to unlock your phone, looking through your messages he was able to find a contact that stood out to him. It wasn’t a lover, thank god, but it was a woman. She seemed to be a co-worker by the way the two of you talked.
She was a bitch though, all the messages she sent seemed to demand something of you and she would would flood you with humiliating messages. Talking about your past relationships, the way you worked, the way you looked.
He was so infuriated! Who did this bitch think she was?! He knew her name from your contact list and clicked your phone shut. Immediately leaving after that to go see who the hell she was. He was going to fucking tear her apart limb by limb.
The next day he was able to see that it was someone who sat near you, seeing from the window of your office; he saw how she demanded things of you. He even saw her trip you on purpose! All your papers went flowing and you had to re-organize them once more.
He wanted to kill her, to torture her for all the things she’s done but something was stopping him. How else were you going to approach him? He believed if that girl pushed your buttons just enough, you’d be looking for someone to kill her off once and for all. It was just a guess but he really hoped it would happen.
And one day, it did happen! You walked up to him for the first time and asked him if he could make her disappear. Your hands were shaky, showing the sufficient money for her death. He eased your nerves slightly by trying to use a softer tone when speaking to you.
After that day, he did in fact kill her, even getting rid of that friend that would follow along side her. They were both pests, bugs that needed to be crushed, people who deserved to die. He was granting what you wanted! You should love him now, right?
When you spoke up about your worries, he easily shut it down and even managed to confess. And you sort of accepted! You wanted a date first, he could do that! He’d do anything for you!
Even after you set up the date, he still followed you home, making sure you made it home safe. You never know with all these people lurking around. You could get hurt! Good thing he was there to make sure you were okay.
He watched you sleep like many times before, caressing your cheek, wishing he could already be your boyfriend. But he decided to be patient, he needed to be! Or else you’d never willingly accept him as a partner.
Today was the day. The day for your date. You woke up rather early, your body was bundled up with nervous feelings despite just waking up. You were nervous to be on a date with such a handsome criminal. Was he going to insist that you needed to be his girlfriend? He seemed nice enough and he didn’t mind that you needed to get to know him first.
Maybe he was a nice guy? Even if he was a killer? Your face scrunched in a disgusted reaction of your own thoughts. You probably shouldn’t be defending the actions of a killer. But it would be different if he only decided to kill people who were awful and ‘deserved it’. Would it be so bad if he was killing off people that made others miserable like your bullies once did?
You washed up, trying to ignore all your worries about the man you were soon to meet. You got ready, putting on a dress that hugged your body, even wearing a few accessories. You wanted to look nice, he was a handsome guy so you didn’t want to come looking unorganized and messy.
You heard a knock on your door and you rather embarrassingly rushed towards the door. You opened it and saw the familiar tall man. He was dressed in a sophisticated manner, his hair was nicely groomed, the rings on his hands only seemed to emphasize how large they were. Your face was dusted with blush because of how his dark brown eyes hungrily scanned you.
“I’m almost done! Just give me a sec” You opened the door wider for him and hastily went to look for your purse.
“You look nice. You should dress up like that more, in front of me, of course.” He observed you as you looked around for your purse.
“I don’t really.. dress up! Or go out because I’m usually busy with work but..” You were a little annoyed about still not finding your purse.
“Is it this one your looking for?” He questioned, picking it up by its handle. It was on the couch the whole time.
“Yeah! Sorry, I’m just really unorganized today” You were lying, you just hadn’t expected him so soon and his appearance had made you really nervous.
“It’s alright baby, I don’t mind waiting. I’m a patient guy” He smiled holding your hand. He brought your hand to his lips and softly kissed the back of your hand.
“Let’s go now, I have the perfect place in mind.” He grinned at your cheeks being red at his small gesture of love.
He had way more to give, he was obsessed with you. But he needed to be patient, you wanted to get to know him first so he wanted to respect your wishes. He probably should’ve been more mindful because he knew everything about you so it’s not like he could ask any questions a normal date would.
The two of you made it to a fancy restaurant located nearby your apartment. You had never been here before, the decorations were lively, and so were all the people here. You felt a little out of place with all the fancy looking people here.
“So, what do you want to know first?” He smiled happily, enjoying that he got to see you in such a cute dress. You looked so pretty in it, he was practically drooling.
“Uhm… any siblings? How was your home life before you got into the business?” You picked up the tiny glass full of wine. You thought it was rather small but you assumed it was a wealthy person thing.
“Two siblings, older brother and a younger brother. I’m the middle child, I wasn’t really the favorite so I could basically do anything I wanted” He laughed.
Your server came by and handed the menus with a welcoming introduction, and hurried along to go do the same with his other tables.
“Did you ever go to college?” You flipped through pages of the menu and selected a mainly shrimp dish. You saw he had already picked his meal before yours, now you were just waiting on the server. You wondered if you should get desert.
“Nope, tried to but didn’t have that kinda money. That’s why I ended up the way I was, but now look at me. Swamped with orders and gaining lots of money” He smiled at you. You noticed he had endearing smile, it made you feel warm inside.
“Well, at least you’re making money now. Sorry you were kinda unlucky from the start, it’s sucks.” You gave an apologetic look.
“It’s alright, it’s how I found you. I would do it all over again if it meant I would get to see you again.” He reached over for your hand, you placed your hand in his palm and he cupped yours with the other. His hands were warm and comforting.
“That’s a huge promise, but .. I’m flattered you see me as that important” You couldn’t help but blush at his response. He was always able to make you go red just by a few words. You really hoped you weren’t going to fall madly in love with him, maybe only a little.
“Baby, you’re my top priority, nothing’s more important than you. I’ll do anything to keep you with me. I would never go back on that promise either, trust me”
The server cut your little moment short much to his dismay. Once the server jotted down what the two of you wanted, he was up and out again. His words were polite but you could tell he was in a rush.
“Did you ever fall in love with anyone like this?” You held onto your dress under the table. Trying to grab something to calm your nerves about something you asked. You were curious though, were you actually special? Or was this guy falling in love with multiple women and doing the same.
You felt somewhat guilty for wondering but you wanted to know!
“Are you asking if I’ve fallen in love with another woman like this? If so, I’ve never. I’ve had a girlfriend or two before but I’ve never felt such intense feelings for someone before. That’s why I want you to stick by my side forever, is that greedy?” He was a little worried you didn’t believe that his love was true. Did you need him to prove it? Because he could easily kill another person for you!
“I don’t think it’s greedy, I think it’s nice that you see me that way. You’re a cool person to stick with, I think you would be a good boyfriend” You mumbled your last few words and his eyes lit up. You thought he would be a good boyfriend? His face was tinted with a little red and he couldn’t help but stare at you with eyes that screamed ‘I’m head over heels in love with you’
You believed he could be a good boyfriend, he compliments you, he cares about you, you just had to convince him to stop with the.. killing thing. But other than that you think it could work!
“Say that again? I must’ve misheard you” He was engaged on hearing your words. He needed to hear them again.
“Nope, you heard perfectly well” You looked away in embarrassment and he leaned over the table, hastily getting your attention.
“Then whisper it in my ear, I didn’t hear I swear!” He laughed trying to convince you. He thought your embarrassment was cute but you complimenting him like that caught him off guard. He wanted to hear it again.
You leaned in and whispered your words again, right before the waiter came back with your prepared food. It was lovely, the dishes were hot and ready to be eaten. You were prepared to dig in before you noticed him looking at you.
He had a goofy lovesick smile and was admiring you. He couldn’t believe you thought he would be a good boyfriend. He was happy you saw him like that rather than the gangster that killed people for you. Originally he thought that was a good look on him but being a good boyfriend? That was immensely better. A good boyfriend who would kill for you.
“What’s up with you?” You couldn’t help but giggle. You knew he liked the compliment you gave but you didn’t know he liked it that much!
“Nothing, just staring at my future wife, is that so weird?” He poked at his food with his fork and ate some of it. He thought it was honestly pretty good, he just ordered what sounded good. He wasn’t a food motivated type of guy.
You snorted at his stupid little comment, blush naturally resting your face with the compliments this idiot in front of you gave.
“I’m being truthful baby, you’re my future wife. What’s so funny?” He smiled finding your little snort humorous.
“Nothing, my beautiful husband! Just though of a funny joke” You finally confidentially reciprocated a joke. You didn’t really have a clue that he fully intended on marrying you but that was for later!
He loved the way you joked back, he did wish it was real but he could be patient. Patience was key!
“I could get used to this!” He grinned from cheek to cheek.
“Of course you could”
After the date, you invited him over to your apartment. Not because you wanted to do anything of course! The both of you were drunk from the rounds of alcohol to celebrate nothing in general. It was just for fun.
“Shit, I don’t think I’ve gotten this drunk in awhile” He lazily threw himself on your couch. He could handle his alchohol, but he might’ve over done it.
“Sleep on your side.. I’m going to bed. There’s water in the fridge if you want some” You yawned, you felt a little sick but it wasn’t that bad. Some water would help and good night’s rest.
“No sleepover?” He groaned. He wanted to sleep next to you, he knew it would be a little hastily but sometimes speed was the best thing, right?
“If you want to sleep on my floor go ahead” You drowsily pushed your door, landing face first into the soft cushioning of your bed. You quickly hid under the sheets, it was pretty cold.
“Good enough for me” He followed in, a few moments after you. He laid on your floor, taking a pillow from your bed to lay his head on. You went to the edge of the bed to share your large blanket. He grabbed his portion and you slept on the edge with your side of the blanket.
It was a weird arrangement but it was perfect for the both of you. Not too close to make you nervous, but close enough for him to fall asleep. Your comforting smell knocked him out rather quickly. You fell asleep after a few minutes and luckily weren’t able to wake up from his snoring.

Rangers, Lead the Way
Written by: @anotheronechicagobog
Warnings: Swearing, canon compliant violence, I had to use a lot of material from the actual episode, mention of domestic abuse

A/N: So, this is a new series. Basically, OA Zidan (FBI), Jay Halstead (Chicago PD), and Kenny Crosby (FBI: Most Wanted) all went to Ranger training together and kept in touch, something that was useful when they couldn’t be the one to keep their ‘partner’ safe and need to call one of the others for assistance when their ‘paartners’ are temporarily working with another member of the trio.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
OA wasn't a name that he'd heard in a long time. They weren't in the same unit but they were in Rangers training together. Jay was one of the only two people there who didn't have it out for him solely because of his religion, while he was shocked to find a Muslim among the ranks at first, he quickly got over it. Not only did he trust that his superiors wouldn't let a terrorist into the army at all, let alone Ranger training, but OA was a U.S. citizen, and had a very personal hatred for everyone who sullied the name of Islam and used it for violence and their own personal gain. So he and Kenny Crosby befriended OA despite the shock and ignorance from their brothers and sisters in arms. They studied together, trained together, ate together, and bunked together. When they'd all been given different assignments they made sure to stay in touch. And they continued to call, email, and text each other after they'd all been discharged.
When Hailey got temporarily assigned to New York Jay was... Well, it's hard to describe how he felt. It was such a nightmarish combination of devastated, terrified, and heartbroken. It was like an icy hand had enclosed around his throat and was slowly squeezing, painfully closing his throat, all while his heart was being dissected out of his chest by another. Not only was he reliving one of the most traumatic moments of his life all over again, but Hailey was going to be in the field without him. She was going to be in danger without him there to watch her back.
And since Hailey was amazing, she could tell just by looking at him that his mind was dropping down into a dark place faster than Alice tumbled into Wonderland. "It's just temporary. And I'll be okay, Jay."
"Hailey..."
"I'm going to put in my time and come back as quickly as possible. It's okay. It's all going to be okay." Hailey's words didn't reassure him in the slightest. How could they, when they didn't even reassure Hailey?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Special Agent Zidan."
"Hey OA, it's Jay."
"Hey man, how are you?"
"Honestly, not great."
"What's wrong?"
"My- uh my partner..."
"Hailey Upton."
"Yeah. She's getting detailed out to the FBI for a bit. I found out that she's getting assigned to your unit."
"That makes sense, my partner's doing a UC detail right now, we'll probably be partnered together."
"OA... Watch out for her. Please. She is strong and more than capable of defending herself, and you quite frankly, but- she's my- I..."
"Don't worry, Jay. I'll have her back. She'll make it back to you."
"Thank you. Seriously, you have no idea how much this means to me."
OA looked at the now-empty desk that had been causing his heart to ache at the sight of it. His shoulder sagged at the pain that was pulling in his chest, the dark fog that filled his mind whenever he started to think, started to wonder, caused his head to throb. "Actually, I know exactly how you feel."
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"You will be partnered with Agent Zidan."
"Hi, I'm OA."
"Hi. Hailey."
"Nice to meet you."
"You too."
"Listen up, everyone. This is Detective Hailey Upton from Chicago PD. She will be with us for the next few weeks as part of our interagency training program."
"All right, so let's, uh, direct our attention to the screens here. Found the body of a young John Doe in St. Nicholas Park. A hundred yards from Alexander Hamilton's house. Federal land, federal case- and no, it is not where Aaron Burr shot him. The famed duel took place in-- anyone, anyone? Weehawken, New Jersey. Kristen knew. Unfortunately, there's far less clarity in the present homicide case. Evidence of torture and abuse, the victim was brown-skinned, but there was no other evidence of a hate crime. So let's dig in, get to work, start filling in the blanks. Yeah? Go."
"You ready?"
"Yeah."
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"So, Chicago PD? Should I be nervous?"
"Nervous?"
"You guys have been in the news a lot and not for good reasons."
"Uh, yeah, we've had some issues, but they're being addressed. It's a great place. I'm proud to be a part of it. The next time you want to insult me, just come out and say it, you don't need to disguise it as a compliment. This car right here?"
"Yeah, sorry. I didn't mean it like that. It's just my way of saying we do things differently here."
"Mhmm."
"Just trying to keep it real." And keep you from getting hurt so that Halstead doesn't develop a full head of grey hair. "So, you spend much time in New York?"
"Nah, first time here."
"Any early observations?"
"Pizza's too thin. It's like a cracker with sauce on it. Just trying to keep it real."... Okay, so maybe it would've been nice if Jay had warned him that she had an axe to grind, but he could make do.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"If I hear you're harassing any more immigrants, I'm gonna come back here, and I'm gonna break your arm. Do you understand?"
"Yeah."
"Good."
"I forwarded Kristen the pictures of Aman. She'll get us a street block number based on the license plates in the background."
"Just like that, huh?"
"The FBI, Upton. Our tech resources are pretty sick. Look, it's not a big deal, but now that you're working with us, just try and be a little bit more careful. If that guy Prichard calls the Bureau complaining that you threatened to use force..."
"Look, man, I don't need a lesson on how to talk to people, all right?"
"Hey, hey, hey. Don't get me wrong. I have no problem with someone breaking that idiot's arm, it's just... It's just that the Bureau is hardcore, and they take that stuff really seriously."
"You're right. I'm sorry. If he files a beef, I'll eat it and make sure you're clear. All right?"
"Appreciate that. But what the hell's a beef?"
"It's an expression."
"I'm kidding. Kristen said Aman's house is around this area."
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So, Hailey is a badass. That was pretty damn cool to witness. Sidenote; Jay is going to murder him.
Hailey was fine, more than fine, she actually saved his ass. But that didn't matter, Jay had trusted him to protect Hailey and hadn't failed, but he hadn't done the best job either.
They'd been searching a house, and after coming down the stairs he completely missed an assailant in the kitchen. But Hailey hadn't. No, she saw him and got him out of the line of fire. He provided cover fire while she jumped back over to the wall at the end of the stairs. OA tensed, more than usual when he was in a firefight unless Maggie was- nope, not going there, the point is, he didn't miss the way a bullet penetrated the wall a few centimetres from Hailey's head.
"Halstead."
"Don't be mad-"
"Oh god-"
"Hailey's fine. One-hundred percent fine, not even a scratch. We just, uh, we got into a shootout with an assailant. He got a shot off close to her head. She's fine- more than fine! I swear! She actually saved my ass in that altercation! And I was covering her the whole time!"
"... That's it? That's a pretty normal day for us, OA. She's okay, you're okay... So, everything, is... Okay. And seriously, thanks again, man. I can't even begin to tell you how much this means to me. I know that she can take care of herself and the others around her, but it's hard when I'm not the one there to have her six. So I really appreciate that I know and trust the person who is."
"Well, I'm glad that you're not gonna come at me like you did when I stole one of the cookies your mom made from your care package."
"Yeah, we wouldn't want a repeat of that."
"Plus, I know how it feels to... Not know. My partner is under right now and..."
"You're going out of your mind?"
"More than you can believe. I can't eat or sleep, and every time my phone buzzes I think it's a death notification instead of an emergency call from work."
"Sounds like you've got your own Hailey. You'll have to introduce me to Maggie one day."
"Yeah, I will. And Ken's definitely gonna have to introduce Hana. We have heard far too much about her to not even be able to put a face to the name."
"Tell me about it. Sometimes I regret our 'no search' rule, but then I remember how much we embarrass each other."
"By the way, thank you."
"Huh? For what?"
"For saving my ass back there. In the house."
"Oh. Okay. Cool. You're welcome."
"Halstead, how much do get shot at, exactly?"
"Why are you asking?"
"She pushed me out of the path of a bullet and when I thanked her afterwards she treated it like it was nothing."
"... I mean, there's not exactly a whole lot I can do about people trying to kill us..."
"Jay. Dude."
"I can try to stop being 'idiotically reckless' as Hailey calls it, but I'm not trying to be a hero or a dumbass or anything, it's just that... If it's not me getting hurt..."
"...It's her."
"Yeah."
"We're both whipped, aren't we?"
"Oh, ridiculously whipped. The desk Sergeant at my precinct is constantly making fun of me for it."
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Just got ballistics back on the slugs fired at OA and Upton. They match the bullets that killed Aman, but get this; they also match the bullets pulled from a drive-by murder victim two months ago."
"Could they ID a suspect yet?"
"Yeah, arrested him too. Name is Santiago Gonzalez, known associate of the Latin Players. He's being held at MDC pending trial."
"Latin Players. That's a Chicago gang."
"Hmm, looks like they're expanding."
"So the Latin Players killed someone, they get arrested, go to jail, and the gun
stays on the street."
"And the new owner uses said gun to kill Aman, a studious Indian engineering student?"
"Right. What are we missing? How are these two murders connected?"
"Have OA and Upton pay a visit to Inmate Gonzalez. Maybe he can help us answer that question."
"Right."
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"So this guy, Gonzalez, is originally from Chicago. Runs with the Latin Players, so maybe you should take the lead on this one. But go hard on him." Hailey and Gonzales were from the same city, same blood, this was her turf, and OA wanted to make sure that he abided by that.
"You want a reaction?" Hailey seemed to get exactly what he meant, what he wanted, but she also seemed hesitant, like she needed more than clarification. It was like she needed permission.
"A big one. Big enough to force him to call his people."
"I think I can do that." And just like that, she had a smirk in her voice and was walking ahead of him. OA could see the wheels turning in her head and a coolness to her features let him know that she'd come up with a game plan. He didn't know if he should be afraid or not.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Where's the gun you used in the drive-by?"
"I don't know what you're talking about." They were less than a minute into the interrogation and he was already annoyed. Why did these guys always have to be so smug? He resisted the urge to roll his eyes, and just let Hailey do her thing, only popping in to keep the flow going. "One of your friends used it to kill a civilian last night."
"Used it again this afternoon on us. Fired off ten rounds."
"Like I said, I don't know what you're talking about." OA had to hold in a sigh.
"You're staring 20 to life on the case you're riding. Give us the name of the person you gave the gun to, and maybe I'll be able to get you a reduced sentence."
"Get my ass, blondie." OA quickly debated the pros and cons of stepping in. Honestly, this guy would probably just make him angrier with his smug attitude and sexist remarks, plus Hailey wasn't even phased. She was still in control, and she actually seemed a little... Bored.
"I'm not a fed like him. I'm Chicago police."
"So what?"
"Means I play by different rules. Also means I know the names of all the shot callers in the Latin Players. Tomorrow morning, we're gonna do a warrant sweep. Means a lot of people you know are gonna get arrested."
"That's not my problem."
"But it is. Because I'm gonna make sure that they know you are the snitch who gave them up."
"Now, you know nobody's gonna believe that."
"Really? Because in my experience, pissed-off bangers don't do their homework, and if they think you're a snitch, you're a snitch. In the street, rumours become facts like that."
"I'm done talking."
"Alright."
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"So you think he believed us?"
"I don't know. What?"
"Nothing, you just reminded me of my partner, Maggie, in there."
"Oh."
"In a good way."
"Then thank you."
"Can you cue up the audio feed?" The prison guard nodded back at OA and did as he asked.
"So where is your partner?"
"Uh, she is on an undercover assignment. That I know absolutely nothing about besides the fact that she is gone and unreachable."
"That's gotta be pretty tough."
"Yeah, but she's really good, so she'll be fine."
"We're up." The guard unmuted the computer and moved out of the way so that he and Hailey could see it clearly.
"Yo, just say the word, man. Chicago about to throw that heat."
"What are you talking about?"
Gonzalez sighed. "Police and FBI here sweating me, man."
"About what?"
"That piece that I left behind. I'm guess it's all connected to what happened on the night at Highbridge Park."
"All right, thanks for looking out."
"No doubt."
"Can you trace the number that he called?" OA was ansty, ready to get moving fast before their lead disappeared and from the honed in look in Hailey's eyes he could see she felt the same.
"Payphone up in Washington Heights." The prison guard was curt and efficient, exactly what they needed and OA was silently grateful.
"Okay. Thank you."
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"I'm guessing that's his girlfriend."
"Hold on. I talked to her at the park, right before we found Ernesto's body." From the way her body tensed OA could tell Hailey wasn't happy she'd let this girl slip through her fingers. He could tell her that it wasn't her fault, no one was even remotely aware of this connection, but he knew that was pointless. Any passionate law enforcement officer would beat themselves over something like this, himself included.
"Ah, and we have a hit off of social rec. Her name is Harper Quinlan, 23 years old, last known address is 84 Groton Street, Queens, New York."
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Why were you at the park?" OA sat across from the young woman, dead set on getting all the information she knew. Arman's murder was quickly dissolving into a larger more horrifying crime and he was worried that the poor man who this had all started with would be forgotten and he didn't want to think about why that enraged him so much.
"I told you before. I was walking."
"Or was it to recover the glove that Lucas dropped after he killed his drug supplier?"
"I don't know anything about that."
"We have video of you in the driver's seat of Lucas' Range Rover at Highbridge Park the night that Lucas killed Ernesto Garcia, so you are now an official suspect in a murder investigation. That means no more lying, no more protecting your boyfriend. You either cooperate with us here and now, or you go to prison."
"I'm not gonna help you ruin Lucas' life. I just won't. He's a good person."
"Harper, good people don't sell drugs or kill people."
"Yeah, you don't know him like I do. He's so nice, and... he's sweet... He really loves me."
"Lucas isn't who you think he is, Harper. Protecting him will only get you and more innocent people hurt. Tell me why you think he was in the park that night."
"I'm not gonna help you."
"Are you listening to what I'm saying to you? You're a suspect in a murder investigation here. Lying to protect him makes this worse. You're putting more lives at risk. Be smart. Tell me why you were there that night. Harper, you don't need to go to prison for him." OA knew he wasn't getting anywhere and was trying to think of some other- any other method- to try and get Harper to talk, when Hailey burst into the room. She looked calculated, like she had a plan or idea that needed to be executed exactly or else the worst might befall those she was trying to protect. Which, if he read her character right, was everyone.
"Unlock it."
"What's going on?" Harper was just as confused as he was, but he knew better than to show it.
"Do it. Pull up your texts."
"Oh, my God."
"What does it say?" Hailey already knew, that much was obvious, but whatever was going on needed to be as brutally real as possible to Harper, and voicing it out loud would drive whatever was going on home for Harper.
"'Return the product, or he's dead. You have four hours. Tell your man to meet us at the place we did our first deal.' Oh, my- oh, my God." Harper's sobs quickly took up the space of the interrogation room, it didn't matter that she hadn't seen her father in so long, losing him would devastate her, and the Latin Players knew that well.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Let me take a run at her. I might have an angle to play." OA watched Hailey carefully, trying to make out was she was thinking, what angle she could possibly have, but he hadn't known her nearly long enough for any of that. There was this... Knowing glint in her eyes, and a sort of dark confidence had taken over her aura. She was confident in whatever plan she had, obviously, he just had no way of predicting what it was. In that moment, OA could really see what made Jay all twisted over her. She didn't look excited to break the accomplice of a drug dealer, or eager to impress the FBI. She looked like she was ready to get elbow deep in someone else's mess just for the sake of protecting as many people as possible with her quick wit and razor-sharp intelligence. So he just inclined his head and got ready to watch her work from the other side of the glass.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"You're in a tough place right now, Harper. We have video of you at the scene of a murder, which makes you an accessory. You're looking at 15 to 20 years in prison. But if you cooperate, we can help you. We'll talk to the prosecutor, explain why you were there, help him understand the nature of your relationship with Lucas."
"What are you talking about?"
"I know what's going on. He hurts you, doesn't he?"
"No. That's not true. He's a good guy-"
"No, he's not. What are those bruises on your neck? You tried to cover them up, but I can see them. When you first met, I bet he was great. You guys hit it off, you had fun. He was everything you wanted. But then he started chipping away at your friends and your family. So you pop a pill to numb the pain and tell yourself everything's okay, just hoping that the abuse is gonna stop. Harper. It won't. I talked to your dad. He loves you very much. And he needs you right now. He's in a lot of danger. If these guys don't get their drugs back, they will kill him. The only thing that matters now is you helping us to find Lucas, so we can recover the drugs and find your dad." Watching Hailey in the interrogation room really was something else. From the slight waver of her tone, the palpable understanding in her voice that seemed to wrap a crying Harper in the first hug she's had in a long time, he could tell that she was exposing a pain-filled part of herself to this- this girl, this accomplice in drug dealing and murder. And still, she was able to remain professional and in control, and OA could honestly say that her incredible ability to do her job both made his heart ache for her and impressed him far more than he thought she would.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
They were in the surveillance van, waiting for Harper and the SWAT team to get in to place. What OA was itching to ask her was highly personal. He did not expect her to feel comfortable talking to him about it, but she'd given Harper some of her strength and after revealing something so heart-wrenching, the protective Egyptian older brother in him needed to make sure that she'd left enough for herself. "So, how do you know so much about abuse? I am sorry, I did not mean anything by that."
"No, it's fine. It's all good. Everyone becomes a cop for a reason. I guess that's mine."
"Uh, yeah."
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Don't forget, Harper. He wants the cash to get out of town, but we need the location where he first met his dealer. That's where your dad is." OA nodded along to Hailey's instruction, keeping a critical eye on the emotionally distraught Harper.
"Babe. They took my father."
"What are you talking about?"
"That guy that you deal with, they grabbed my father and texted me that they're gonna kill him unless we return the drugs that you took."
"Oh, no, no. I can't- I can't do that."
"They took my father!"
"Look, I feel bad, but they will kill me. Oh, Jesus, don't-"
"Lucas."
"Don't give me the sad eyes look."
"Lucas."
"I'm screwed. Look, I gotta look out for me- for us, you understand?"
"Look, I need to know where you and Ernesto did your first deal 'cause that's where they wanna meet."
"I just told you, I'm not going-"
"I will go! I'll call my uncle. He has a lot of money. Maybe I can negotiate a deal or something."
"I gotta get moving, all right, so give me the money."
"Where did you meet him?"
"Stay strong." Hailey could see her waver, could see her lose her ground and need someone to keep her steady. "Location first, then give him the money."
"Lucas. Lucas. Lucas!"
"I'll call you later on, all right?" Lucas, being the selfish douchebag that he is, grabs the bag of money and moves to book it, leaving his girlfriend who needs him behind.
"Damn it. Move in now!" OA sounded the call and immediately all agents left their posts and honed in on Lucas.
"Lucas!"
"You lying sack of..." Lucas, in an effort to prove that he really is a stellar guy, pulls out a gun and starts shooting at the agents, causing panic and fear in the civilians around them. Really, Harper? This guy?
"Get down! Get down!" Hailey pulled Harper out of the line of fire and pushed her to the ground before covering her with her own body, amazing OA with her selflessness yet again. You really picked a good one, Jay.
"Move, move!"
"Drop it!" Scola had joined them when Lucas went for the kill, forcing OA to do the same. Only OA was a good shot, though.
"Lucas! Lucas! Lucas! Lucas..." Harper couldn't stop calling for him, and OA was certain that the only reason she hadn't crawled over to his body was that Hailey was holding her in place. "It's okay." Hailey seemed to be stuck on repeat, comforting Harper. OA personally couldn't see how someone who had been abused would mourn their abuser... But then again, he thankfully had never had to suffer through that. Unlike Hailey.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------"Sounded like he was ready to hit the road, so I'm guessing his dope is close by. Nothing back here." OA went to the Range Rover with Scola to look for anything- finding the drugs would've been preferable, but as long as it was a tangible clue, they could call it a win.
"Yeah. There's nothing here either."
"Any luck?" Hailey approached them, her I-know-something-that-you-don't-but-don't-worry-I'll-tell-you plastered on her face.
"Nope. Nothing."
"You have the keys on you?"
"Yeah."
"Here, let me try something. Hop in. Shut the trunk." Hailey closed the driver's door, started the engine, pushed a button on the stereo and on the car door. A drawer illuminated by blue light opens, containing the missing drugs.
"I already pushed it. Nothing happened." Scola sounded mildly insulted, but OA just chuckled internally.
"Okay, Chicago." He was impressed, and he wasn't going to hide that. He was also going to give Jay a call later to tell him to ask her out already. There's no way a woman this amazing stays single for long.
"I have a CI who installs these things. Engine has to be on and doors closed in order for it to open."
"Okay, we got the dope. Now we just gotta figure out where to deliver it to."- OA
"Yep."
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"We have Lucas' texts from the phone he was carrying since Harper said he started doing business with the Latin Players about a month ago-" Kristen was leading their group of field agents and Jubal towards the front desks, explaining what she found, and while normally they would have totally enjoyed her explaining just how smart she is, things were a little time-sensitive.
"Yeah."
"We need to scrub that time period."
"There, on the 28th. There's a text that says, 'Meetings at 2. Let's do 9 instead of 8.'" One of the analysts pulled the info onto the computer screen in front of them, showing them the text records.
"'Let's do 9 instead of 8'? But the meeting's at 2:00. Is that some sort of code?" Jubal's mind was whirring away with Kristen's, figuring out exactly what it meant.
"Well, here's Lucas' GPS data from that day around that time." Kristen worked her magic so that Jubal could work his.
"All right, so from 1:37 to 3:12, he was in Brooklyn down by the river. Kris, can you zoom in? Get a more specific look at this. Yeah, over here. Can you drill down right there?"
"Okay."
"They met at 2:00 at a dock. Pier nine instead of pier eight. That's the meeting place." Scola voiced it out loud, like he was still in thought and hadn't had time to put all of the pieces in place internally first.
"There it is." Jubal's prideful voice made OA smirk.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"We've got 67 minutes to get the drugs down to pier nine. Unfortunately, the guy we need to deliver the drugs is at the city morgue." Isobel voiced the dreadful obvious from her office, forcing them all to sigh and start their plan to catch Arman's killer from scratch.
"I'll go under as Lucas' friend. I'll give him the coke in exchange for Harper's dad." Hailey volunteered herself, but not with the same gusto she'd been working the entire case. Something was off and OA's 'spidey senses' were giving him no peace.
"No. These guys have done their homework. They're not gonna buy that." OA knew he made a good point, but he hoped that no one saw the way his shoulders went rigid.
"I get it, but I think I can pull it off."
"No, I agree with OA. It's too risky." Isobel agreed with him and OA felt like he could breathe again, he promised Jay that he'd watch her back, something he couldn't really do if he was watching her not with her. And if he were honest with himself, he'd become a little attached to her in the time they'd been partnered together, hoping that they would become friends.
"So we need a plan C."
"Let me do it. He's my father. I'm the one who got him into this awful situation. So let me do it. Let me do something meaningful. Something that will make me feel good about myself... Please. Gotta let me do it." Harper looked at Hailey, not even acknowledging the rest of the room.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"You're gonna do great. Just follow the plan we laid out."
"He doesn't get the second bag until you see your father."
"Right. Got it."
"And if your dad's not at the meeting place, you tell the man to bring him there. He'll say no. You stand your ground." Hailey seemed to be offering more comforting advice.
"You have more leverage than you think. This dope is worth a lot of money, and that's all they really care about." While he seemed to be offering more calculated advice.
"It's okay to be nervous. They'd be suspicious if you weren't. You good?"
"I'm good."
"Okay."
"Okay. Here we go."
"Alpha team in position."
"Where's Lucas?" The gang leader, covered in tattoos was menacing as he approached.
"He sent me instead."
"And my product? There's only one kilo here."
"The other four are close by."
"Close by doesn't do me no good."
"Show me where my father is, and I'll get you the other four."
"Don't get cute with me, mama. I'll cut your throat. Go get my dope."
"Let's get ready to move in."
"No, no. Give her a chance."- Hailey was confident, but OA couldn't help but side-eye her. Wondering just what made her so sure.
"You trying to get your dad killed? 'Cause, that's what's happen if you keep playing."
"I need to see him."
"He's alive. I promise."
"I need proof."
"[whistles] Right over there, chica."
"Okay, we got eyes on the dad. We're good to go."
"Wait, wait, wait. Let's see if we can get him talking about Aman's murder. As soon as we see a weapon, we roll."
"Okay." OA knew that Hailey was smart, and she had been making great calls throughout this case, but he was still hesitant. An innocent man's life was in the balance, but he wanted justice for Arman too.
"Be a good girl, go get my dope. Do that, Big Papa walks. I'll go with you."
"So... So... How do I know you're not gonna kill me and my father once I give you the dope?"
"I don't kill civilians. Bad for business."
"You kill that Indian guy? He was a civilian."
"I try my best, but I'm not perfect, mama." Harper meekly retrieved the second bag from behind construction equipment.
"You did good, Harper." But 'good' wasn't enough for him. Suddenly a large silver gun was pointing at the middle of her forehead.
"FBI! Don't move!" OA lead the charge, coming out of hiding and announcing himself the second that they got confirmation that he murdered Arman they'd burst out of the van and beat SWAT to Harper, the Latin Players, and Harper's father.
"Drop your weapon now! Let me see your hands now! Put the gun on the ground! Step away! Put it down now!"
"Get on the ground! Get on the ground, now!"
"Dad!"
"Let me go! Dad! Dad! Dad!" Honestly, he didn't give the tearful father-daughter reunion much attention or thought, but he noticed that Hailey did, if only for a couple of seconds longer than necessary. He didn't know what to make of that, though.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Hey."
"Hey."
"I just filed my 302. Do you need help with yours?"
"Nah, I just finished."
"So, I have to admit, I wasn't so sure about you."
"Yeah, well, I wasn't sure about you either. But you're all right. For a fed."
"You wanna grab a beer?"
"I'm okay. You don't have to look after the new kid."
"I am pretty sure you don't need looking after. Come on, you saved my life. The least you can do is let me buy you a drink."
"For the tenth time, I didn't save your life. All right, let's grab a beer, but only if you tell me why you became a fed. I told you my reason. It's only fair you tell me yours."
"Deal."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
They didn't quite 'go out for a beer'. When OA heard Hailey's stomach throw a temper tantrum in the elevator he suggested going out for food that was accompanied by a beer. She'd agreed as long as they didn't go out for "crackers with sauce on them". OA had laughed, not even remotely or phased by Hailey's obsession with Chicago pizza. It's just another thing she shares with Jay. Besides, he wanted to take her somewhere else.
When they sat down Hailey looked around, taking it all in. Omar has been coming to this restaurant all his life. It had been open longer than he'd been alive, he'd even had his tenth birthday here. He hadn't brought Maggie here yet, not because he didn't think they were close enough, he just didn't know how she'd react to realizing that they are that close. "I hope you like Egyptian food."
"I've never had it, but I'm Greek and I know that there are a few shared foods and ingredients."
"Really? I wouldn't have guessed Greek from 'Upton'."
"My parents changed it when they moved here, their name was too difficult for Americans to pronounce, and there was some... Other stuff."
"I'm familiar with 'other stuff'. Do you want any recommendations or need me to explain anything on the menu?"
"You know what? You can choose what I eat tonight. If I like what you pick, I won't tease you for it the rest of the time I'm here."
"Well, for the record-"
"What record?" Hailey laughed.
"For the record, I am completely confident in my knowledge of food so I know I'll find something you'll like. After all, it can't really be bad so long as it's not non-Chicago pizza. Right?"
OA ended up choosing a dish called 'kushari', it wasn't like the Chicago or Mediterranean food Hailey was used to but she'd loved it. OA was smiling at her, proud of his victory, Hailey rolled her eyes, smirking at his impishness. "Tell me about your partner." The question caught him off guard and for a moment he'd felt a significant crack in his walls, leaving him exposed. Suddenly all the feelings he'd been pushing back since Maggie went UC enveloped and starting drowning him. Fear gripped his heart, haunting curiousity stabbed his mind, and loneliness hooked onto his soul. "OA? We don't have to talk about her, I'm sorry I asked, I didn't mean to upset you."
"She's one of the most amazing people I know. She's smart, strong, generous, empathetic, courageous... She's honestly one of the most amazing people in my life and I love having her as my partner." Hailey looked at him the same way his sisters and mother did whenever he spoke about one of the most important people in his life. Like they were able to listen between his words and decipher another meaning to what he'd said. But like his mother, his sisters always gave him hell for it, she said nothing. I couldn't even dispute it if she did say anything.
"She sounds badass."
"She is. What about your partner? Tell me about them?" He'd narrowly averted saying 'him', unsure how she'd react if she knew just how close she and Jay really were, and just how much Jay had told him about her. She got this smitten grin on her face, and OA knew that the roles were reversed from a few moments ago when he had that same smirk and far off look in his eyes. "His name is Jay Halstead, and he's an amazing person, except for when he's getting himself shot, the reckless idiot. He would rather get shot at than get a needle which rattles me to no end, especially because he's so much more kind and intelligent than he gives himself credit for and we need him you know, alive, but still, I admire him so much. He makes me laugh and he just knows how to get to me, you know? I would... I would follow him anywhere. Wow... What is in this food? Truth serum? I'm not usually that open..." It was like he could literally see a forcefield shaping around her. Shrinking in on herself, her face hardening, hastily putting a forkful of food in her mouth. She looked at the wall behind him, pretending to be interested in the decorations, trying to pass off the slight panic in her eyes.
"Maybe it's just my charming demeanour, or that I got personal first, really personal. Or maybe it's because you needed to tell that to someone you don't see every day."
"Yeah. Maybe." She still wouldn't look at him and a tense silence enveloped them until she took a deep breath and shook herself. Light seemingly went off in her head before she gave him an absolutely devilish smirk. "I believe I was promised your origin story."
"Is that what we're calling it? An 'origin story'?"
"It is now."
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Halstead."
"Get your head out of your dumb ass and ask Hailey out."
"I- OA-"
"You won't regret it, Jay. I actually think that you will regret it if you don't."
"I just don't know if I'm ready to admit anything to myself, forget Hailey."
"When does life ever wait until you're ready, man? Neither of you work in a stable occupation, and even then the universe isn't exactly known for working on anyone else's timeline. I can literally feel you aching for her from here."
"But what if I'm not good enough."
"Oh, I've only known her for a few days and I already know that no one's good enough for her-"
"Damn have you adopted her as another honourary sibling? How many do you have now? And Hailey actually knows you've adopted her, right?"
"Not important, and don't try and change the subject."
"But if no one's good enough for her, then..."
"You're too hard on yourself Jay. No one's good enough for you either. Why shouldn't two people who are far too good for the world be together? You deserve happiness, Jay. You both do, and I think telling her that you're far gone with her would be a great start."
"Thanks, man. Really."
"No problem."
"... So you think that I'm 'far too good for the world'?"
"And now I'm regretting every word we've spoken." No I don't, but your head really doesn't to get bigger.
"Nope, no take-backs. You think that I'm badass and amazing."
"I never said 'badass' or 'amazing'."
"Jay Halstead- described as 'far too good for the world' by the humble and decorated OA Zidan-"
"I also called you a 'dumbass' but whatever, goodnight Jay. And seriously, ask Hailey out."

the hell is mystreet season 6??
(warning, long post ahead)
ok so before i start this
1) ive never posted shiiiit on tumblr before so watch me suffer, im just here to talk about stuff that my friends who dont know anything about aphmau have to listen to me rant about for hours on end
2) i havent seen mystreet in like years (except season 3, i watch that frequently since im laurance and shadow knight deprived) so please bear with me because i might be completely wrong on this lol. it’s just like, pointing out things i remember
3) im sure someones already talked about this but who cares
4) im gonna do this stupid thing where i just explain myself a bit at first, if you dont want to read that just skip to the part where you see “the actual thingy:” in bold and italics
5) mild disclaimer; i am completely aware that jessica is not a professional writer. i know that she did her best to appeal to her fans, and honestly, respect for that. while this post will come off as aggressive and probably look like hate, that’s not my intention in the slightest. it’s just... intense criticism. im sure y’all probably already know that, but yeah, just stating that anyways. i do believe that jess is doing her best, and in no way do i want to dismiss any hard work she’s done. that being said; prepare for a very strongly opinionated post.
haha watch there be 10000+ typos in this making me look like a complete dumbass
ok here we go
one of the main reasons i stopped watching aphmau back in 2017 was the mess that was season 4. like, in the first few episodes of the emerald secret, i thought “woah!! this is kinda cool, im a sucker for mystery!” because of course i was, it was something new and something exciting. the only problem i had with it at the time was kim, but that’s just because i always found her annoying and out of place. i just didn’t understand why garroth dragged her along and honestly i still don’t to this day BUT, moving on.
anyways, as the season progressed, 13 year old me was of course just “:0!!” the entire time--that is, up until the reveal of the main villain. i remember watching the episode, seeing the reveal of ein, and then stopping. like, just for a quick break, but i was still just overwhelmingly disappointed. like, and this was the time when pdh was airing and ein just got made alpha (i think?) and i had really really liked eins character in pdh. either way, that really sucked and actually opened my eyes to a lot of things.
one of the main things bein’ the fact that this was supposed to be a slice of life kinda series that decided to take a turn to a more edgy kinda approach. which, i guess i regularly wouldnt mind? but seeing as mcd was kinda bein neglected at the time it just didnt sit right with me. BUT WHATEVER, point is i stopped watching mystreet all together at the end of season 4.
like, a whole year later my brother tells me that shit’s getting intense in season 5 + 6 of mystreet, and my brilliant self decided to give it a shot--but i refused to watch all of season 5, so i only stepped in when ein made an appearance. so whenever that was, that’s where i picked up because i didnt care enough to see
and y’know--i honestly didn’t hate it at first. in fact, i found it oddly cool. it wasn’t enough to get me into aphmau again, but it was enough to where i was intrigued. i dont know why, but i never watched the finale, so i didnt see the ending until just a few weeks ago--but back then, i thought it was neat. looking back on it however... im just so confused.
side note: only got back into aphmau this time around because of mcd. mainly because like, i adore the first season and the first half of the second season. and being nearly 18 now, im a lot more appreciative of plot and well-written characters n junk.
the actual thingy:
ok back on track. imma stop spilling out my story of how i got back into aphmau, and lets just skip to what rewatching mcd made me realize of season 6′s plot and shit:
-emmalyn. how the fuck does ghost even remotely exist? if she’s emmalyn as claimed, then why have we already seen emmalyn in the mystreet universe alive? look i get that creators can do whatever they want with their stories but at the same time please provide some sort of explanation good god. and maybe they did and i just havent seen it, so if there is one--let me know. but until that day imma just sit here confused as fuck
-ok so imma just be real, the whole ‘ultima’ thing is just... not great. in my opinion, anyways. like... i saw someone mention this in another post, but if this ultima stuff was like, a really big deal, why isnt it mentioned in mcd? though i suppose since its a curse of sorts, it could be later on past the time period in which mcd takes place--but even then, how did it manage to make its way into aaron’s family bloodline?
-WHY IS EVERYONE AT STARLIGHT ITS JUST SO CONVINIENT like what happened to this place being the most expensive shit on the planet or whatever, and how the gang happens to run into like, the werewolf trio and blaze and kai and guy and nate all of these people like god damn life doesnt WORK LIKE THAT
-im sorry but turning people into relics? thats... thats the best you could come up with? plus, like, how does that even work? in mcd it’s established that relics are separate entitles that choose their wielder, based on a ‘personal’ connection (being a descendent of a previous wielder) or if they’re a good match personality and (i think?) moral wise. so the whole turning-people-into-relics doesnt make much sense to be honest.
-irene really over here using her god powers to only keep her friends alive like god damn not a great god if you ask me
-can i talk about how incredibly predictable aphmaus death was? like i just kinda sat there waiting for it to happen and when it did i literally went “haha! wonder when she’ll be revived” because god forbid we actually kill off characters
-when aphmau + demon warlock fought in the irene dimension there was no passage of time whatsoever in the real world whiiiiiiiiich really bothers me because they fought in there for at least a few minutes
-speaking of aphmau and the demon warlocks fight does it bother anyone else that it had to be aaron who took over the fight?? like we get it hes the big protector blah blah blah but god damn it wouldve been cooler if aphmau had fought this battle as her. aaron fighting this battle was so underwhelming
-...love. like, thats the only thing thats needed to break out of a forever potion? love? LIKE YEAH, GOOD GUYS GOTTA WIN SOMEHOW, but its just so cliche and overdoneeee
-oh yeah and also when travis went bonkers and became the demon warlock or whatever, why’d he only take over katelyn and garroth?? like, zane had been influenced by the potions in the past as well? DONT GET ME WRONG--i do love some good brother edge, but uh, the demon warlock was just bein kinda a dumbass by not possessing zane too just sayin’
-can aaron please go to fucking jail for mass murder now like holy shit, he just got sent home on a fuckin boat. also why did blaze forgive him for killing him thats not even remotely realistic. then again, nothing in mystreet has ever been realistic when it comes to characters and motives and personalities, (cough katelyn being actually abusive and travis being an actual pervert) but yknow whatever
-katelyn and kawaii chan literally added nothing to the plot whatsoever. like lets be real, katelyn lost her personality the moment season 5 started and kawaii chan just kinda sits there :I
-ok im sorry this was bound to come up but cmon guys imagine laurances potential if he was in season 6 like god damn this is beyond maddening. AND YOU KNOW WHAT WOULD HAVE BEEN A REALLY REALLY COOL PARRALLEL?? IF IT WAS LAURANCE WHO SNAPPED GARROTH OUT OF HIS MIND CONTROL THING, because it would mimic laurance’s speech to get garroth to snap out of his rage in season 1, episode 100 of minecraft diaries. like how fuckin rad would that have been? missed opportunity
-also?? why does kim/ghost know magicks?? like, if i remember correctly, emmalyn is a scholar--not someone who knew magicks. i mean, i guess research? study?? but its been established that knowing how magicks works =/= being able to use magicks. i dunno, just doesnt seem right i guess. maybe its explained, i wouldnt know (yes i know that makes me look like a dick leave me alone)
-melissa should have stayed dead. LIKE, NO, ITS NOT AS SIMPLE AS “haha it takes more than a few bullets to kill me”??? look ive got nothing wrong with melissa (cough lie cough) but yknow it would have just been cool a character... stay dead? for once? its just too fuckin cliche that shes alive god damn
-can i also just say the only good thing that came out of season 6 was travis’ dads sacrifice like damn that made me actually sad
-howww was lucinda turned into a relic. or yknow, anyone else? like im sure they explain it better in the actual show i just dont remember, but its just that easy? turning anyone into a relic? granted, a normal person wouldnt be able to produce a good relic, but idk man. IM JUST SAYING; that the only really powerful relics that aphmau should have been able to wield is the one that aaron + zane produced because shad relic and esmund relic moment. lucinda isnt even like, connected to a divine warrior. ALSO, another point, if its seriously that powerful of a relic getting one from just a magic user like lucinda, why go through the trouble? i mean i guess ofc youd want the “all powerful” one that the ultima produces but i mean damn whats the point
-ok this is just going to bother me but in one of the episodes (i think might have been in season 5 actually) where that like, guardian dude was chasing aphmau and zane and at one point they split up and the dude just chuckles at zane diverting paths and goes under his breath “youre not the important one here”, suggesting that aphmau somehow is? first of all, id argue that any ro’meave is significantly more important than aphmau was, especially not knowing much about her other than that shes with aaron. i might be missing some bits an pieces, but if i was that dude id forget about aphmau and go after zane
-killing off derek for shock factor sucked, and i know the moment was supposed to be really sad because like “oh :( aarons dad is sacrificing himself for his son” but lets be real dereks still was a shitty father and i dont think his reasons for doing what he did was very good at all
-less about plot or more like: why the absolute fuck did the gang bring kim along instead of, oh i dont know, a life-long friend? like, laurance or dante maybe?? im sure its explained, i never saw aphmaus year or most of season 5, but god DAMN id hate to be apart of this friend group AND GOD LIKE, imagine reconnecting with an old friend who ends up getting closer to your best friends and taking priority in their lives over you (cough laurance) like god damn lol
-im just going to preface this one with: i dont remember everything that’s happened, so if im wrong i apologize in advance--but (you actually can correct me if im wrong and please do) didnt like, irene reincarnate her friends in order to give them better lives? I DONT KNOW IF THIS IS TRUE, ITS JUST WHAT I REMEMBER--however, if im correct, then:
a. why the hell would she bring back someone like zane, or gene, or ivy, etc.
b. why the hell do they all have the same exact names? first and last? again, im aware that the whole mystreet+mcd tie wasn’t originally supposed to be there, but i dont think that means such a coincidence can be excused? its just a bit much if you ask me.
c. why the hell is the fact that (as much as i literally hate this) aaron is a decedent of shad being ignored? like, you’d think that something like this would be something thats actually important, or something the demon warlock couldve taken advantage of. or are we completely erasing every other connections to divine warriors besides aphmau + irene? because even if irene did reincarnate them or do whatever it is she did, does she even have the power to sever the connections between them and their ancestors? my guess is, no.
d. speaking of irene why on earth was aphmau able to talk to/see irene, they’re literally the same person are they not? did she like, fuckin reincarnate herself without actually doing it?? BUT--i will give it to them, the demon warlock did refer to aphmau as something along the lines of being “one of the 3 parts of her broken soul” or something like that. however, my point still remains. also what are the other two did i miss that or is it never explained
now; if irene in fact did not ‘reincarnate’ her friends then please ignore that little bit right there :)
but yes, those are a few of the problems i have with season 6 off the top of my head. i would go into like, season 4 and 5 more as well, but i honestly didnt feel like it. at some point i might go into other things, like how important laurance could have been to the plot of these later seasons, or HELL, even dante. i might also go into what could have made season 4, 5, and 6 actually good--maybe... a rewrite? perhaps? but im getting too far ahead of myself, so i just leave you with this for now.
and i know that as soon as i post this 15 more things are just going to pop into my head BUT im going to try and not edit this post because why stress myself with that even more
anyways thank you for coming to my tedtalk

     *  Note: Since LOGAN takes place in a dystopian world set in  the 20th Century Fox world of their ‘XMEN’ in 2029 -- I’ve had to tweak Laura’s canon timeline to fit in with the MCU. These are my compiled ideas/notes for where Laura would/might fit in, according to the MCU timeline. This can also be amended/altered depending upon who I am writing with & whatever stories we come up with on the sides. I will update/list those verses within this list as well. XO. - Betty.
2012.  AVENGERS.   ✗ verse: ( mcu 001. avengers. )  i am not my enemy.
Tumblr media
2002, Alkali-Transigen  aka ‘Essex Corp’ ) conducts it’s second round of the Weapon-X program utilizing children ‘perfected’ in a lab/facility. Laura Howlett ( known as X23 amid the program ) was ‘born’ into the program, the daughter of an unknown Latina woman ( who is more than likely murdered by the company shortly after Laura’s birth ) & James Howlett aka The Wolverine.       2012, a 7 year-old ‘killing dream’ begins her hardcore training under the Transigen umbrella, having grown up within their cage and knowing nothing but life within ‘The Facility’. During the events of ‘The Avengers’, Transigen ( more than likely a subsidiary or sister-company to HYDRA ) attempts to gather knowledge/the power of the alien forces that attack Earth. It is quite possible during this attack, the Xmen join the Avengers. - Transigen utilizes newer technology to harness a killing serum that triggers and strengthens the children’s mutant abilities. Through the years they continue to medicate and test the formula out on the children, including Laura;  to which they discover if they choose a specific target, she will stop at nothing until said target is vanquished.
Tumblr media
2015.  AGE OF ULTRON.  ✗ verse: ( mcu 002. ultron. )  i can do anything.
Tumblr media
2013,  8-year-old Laura, along with her ‘brothers and sisters’ attempt to escape from the underground jail in Mexico ( where she was ‘born’ ) when given word/hope of a safe haven full of mutant-kind. The children are provided stories with the help of comic books smuggled into the facility. Some of which include stories of The Avengers, while others house a storyline shadowing the truth about the XMEN. Upon their first attempt of escape, the children are unsuccessful, and Essex Corp demands that they relocate to a ‘more secure’ unit in New York City. In 2015, the attack of ULTRON commences, more or less rocking the hard walls of the New York facility to rubble.        For the most part, with the help of HYDRA, Transigen is able to gather up their little ‘test subjects’, some having successfully gotten away, sadly Laura not being among them.      2016, an 11-year-old Laura with the help of the nurses, including Gabby, leads the pack to escape once more. It’s here Laura encounters her father ( Wolverine/James LOGAN Howlett ), Xavier & Caliban by psionic-ally following Charles’ guidance. During this timeline she goes on the wild chase, running from Transigen and relying on what remains of Logan’s strength. The climax ends with Xavier’s passing and Logan’s sacrifice, and the children successfully fleeing for the Canadian border to ‘Eden’ aka the safe haven which turns out to be a new school for the gifted, headlined by a group of vigilante mutants ( aka, the plotline of Mangold’s LOGAN. )      It should also be noted that during this time period, the X-men are dwindling/dying out, and going into hiding due to many people either wanting to lock them up out of fear or provide them ID badges and what not ( similar to the plot of the ‘Civil War’ in the comics. )
Tumblr media
2017.  CIVIL WAR.   ✗ verse: ( mcu 003. civil war. )  my choice mine.
Tumblr media
At 12, Laura quietly slips from the safe haven ( headmistress at this time being Emma Frost ) , feeling as though she’s really more of a danger than anything else, specifically due to the ‘death’ serum. Laura cannot control herself when injected with it, especially if she’s provided a ‘target’. To think she could end up killing one of her own terrifies her, not to mention the more she keeps running the less likely Transigen is to discover her.       During the time of the Avengers’ ‘Civil War’  ( between Tony & Steve ), Laura is only a child but spotted through the streets of New York. A time or two, Tony witnesses the feral child having pick-pocketing or slyly stealing a thing or two of necessity. Unable to confine the child or discover her whereabouts, he becomes aware of the ‘mutant strain’ in DNA, now knowing there is far more to this life than other worlds, planets, Norse gods and experimental projects gone wrong like Banner -- Hydra’s been hiding the secret unit to which not only have they began to suppress the X-gene that creates the ‘mutants’ but that they’ve been testing the effects of their serums and juices and what have you on children more-or-less created in a lab with the specific function of utilizing them as some ultimate mutant army. It is a terrible and harsh reality and one he does not take to lightly.      Contrary to the comics’ canon ( & the Xmen’s Civil War ) when Tony discovers she is a mutant child born and raised the way she was, he almost feels an obligation to protect her from others who felt mutants ought to be branded or ID’d and what not. ( A bit contradictory to the Xmen comics, I know, but it makes sense when you think of Steve/Capt America in the comics and how against Laura he was in the beginning, I feel he’d be a little apprehensive in the MCU as well. This could change depending upon whom I’m writing with. )       On the search for a place to help her ‘lay low’, Tony keeps her at the compound, until Pepper insists she just come on home with her. ( Again, this can be adapted depending upon the individual story. )
Tumblr media
2018.  HOMECOMING.   ✗ verse: ( mcu 004. homecoming. )  are you sure i deserve salvation?
Tumblr media
At age 13, since Pepper thinks it best that the pre-teenage girl get used to a ‘normal’ life, Laura begins attending public school, where she continues to attempt to ‘lay low’. Of course she does her very best to fit in, though there are many ‘human’ things she’s unaware of such as personal space and certain topics of speech. She basically follows the lead of people she feels she can trust like Peter Parker. Technically since Laura also ages much slower than most everyone, she will be a teenager for a longer period in her life. It is within these confines that she learns more about humanity, her compassion for the human race quite evident and her curiosity ever the more present. She spends a lot of time making up for lost time in her childhood, things she’s never discovered, places she’s never been -- a life she never knew she could have.  2019/2023.  ENDGAME.   ✗ verse: ( mcu 005. endgame. )  i’m f*cking wolverine.
Tumblr media
During INFINITY WAR ( obviously just prior to this timeline ) Laura of course fights along side the team sustaining little to no injury even though she could’ve severed a limb or two, due to her mutation, she recovers rather quickly. Upon the realization that she could lose her family of mutants with Thanos’ plan, she scurries to get back to the school, begging many of the others to fight along side the Avengers. She succeeds in convincing several of the XMEN, including but not limited to Emma Frost,  to take part in the battle... but it is only to their demise as her healing is too rapid for his ‘curse’ and rather than fluttering into ash, she witnesses all those she holds dear dissipate having to see, once again, the utter destruction of those she holds dear. It tears her apart from the inside.       In 2023, Laura is just about to turn 17. -- Upon Tony’s return from space (2019), and the realization that Pepper hadn’t been taken away, Laura barricades herself within the hope she can have a somewhat normal family. She stays with Pepper and Tony, far away from the compound. She takes up her roll as a sister-figure to Morgan, something she absolutely takes seriously. She’d give it all up for this little girl -- hell, for this family. Tony stands in as an unlikely father-figure, but even moreso, Pepper as her mother. ( Again, these choices can be adapted/tweaked depending upon the storyline/plot we have -- maybe Laura grew up at the compound, or with someone else or with Aunt May... the possibilities/ what-ifs are endless... She could’ve also gone off on her feral way, etc etc. )
Tumblr media
When the final battle hits, and those who were taken away appear within the portals, a sudden relief washes over her. She has much more to fight for, and she gives it her all. But it is at the loss of Tony where she feels her world crumble once more, wondering if she should go off on her own and call it good, because it seems no matter where she attempts to land, there is far more loss to be had. She contemplates whether or not Logan had it correct when he was always insistent they stay far away from people, isolate and keep to themselves. Of course that was a much different time in the world and Transigen/Hydra has/have more things to worry about than hunting her down lately -- still, it’s a threat.        With Peter Parker’s ( and possibly others ) insistence, she remains close by. 2023/24.  FAR FROM HOME.  ✗ verse: ( mcu 006. far from home. )  el que con lobos anda a aullar se enseña.
Tumblr media
Basically, Laura ( now, tech, post-snap almost 18 ) is hanging out with SHIELD, there to aid Peter where needed, more or less helping to keep an eye on him, along with Happy doing her best to stay out of trouble.

im losing my mind in 10th grade history i wrote my final essay on serbia vs the us bc serbia was the country id studied for a project and i just reread that essay bc i legitimately couldnt remember how to start my essay for my history final this year and holy shit guys
“Taboo Topics: Serbia vs USA Differences
There are several subjects that are usually talked in hushed whispers behind closed doors with the wonderful exceptions of the few who speak out. These subjects include, but are in no way limited to, the gender pay gap, LGBT rights, rape, and abortions. With these topics, there are some very obvious differences between how Serbia and the United States handle them. Serbia deals with these forbidden matters significantly better than the United States does.
The gender pay gap has been a popular topic for a few years now. Women are always paid less than men for the same work. In certain workplaces, women are actually less likely to be hired than a man even if she has more experience or better credentials, not always but quite often. The Boston Symphony holds blind auditions. There was a point where they had to make everyone who auditioned take off their shoes because the judges were hearing the women’s heel click against the floor and unconsciously judged against them. Bias against women is a very common and, unfortunately, normal thing to see is every country for quite a few centuries. It wasn’t always this way. We were all equal once. Now, we have male sports teams getting paid thousands for losing and female teams not getting paid at all. As of 2018, women in Serbia are paid 16% less than her male coworkers for the same job (Serbian Monitor). In the lovely United States, white women get paid 19% less then her white male coworkers. That is a three percent more difference than Serbia, which is bad enough but hispanic women are paid 39% less than her white male coworkers for the same work (iwpr). The three fifths compromise ended in the 1860s, and yet. This is the worst gender bias. People who love their job are the lucky ones. Most people now work a job, or several, just to stay afloat. Everyone deserves to be able to afford at least the bare minimum; food, water, housing, healthcare, and education. When women are paid a lesser wage than men when the wages are already insufficient, they have to pick and choose. To pay a woman less just because she wasn’t born a white man is telling her she isn’t worth as much.
LGBT, which stands for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, rights is, for some reason, a very taboo subject. People all over get killed for being part of the LGBT community. Many religions are very against anything related to the LGBT community. A lot of people think they are “confused” or straight up sinners. It should not matter what people think. If a person is a person no matter how small then a person is a person no matter their gender or sexual orientation. Serbia is very good with that. “In June 2017, Ana Brnabić became the Prime Minister of Serbia, as the first woman and first openly gay person to hold the office, and the second female LGBT head of government overall (after Jóhanna Sigurðardóttir of Iceland). She was also the first Serbian Prime Minister to attend a pride parade.” (Wikipedia). America is not even ready for any female in such a high position of power while Serbia is making a bunch of firsts for women and the LGBT community. Serbia does not recognize same-sex marriages unless they are foreign but it is not illegal, either. Just in 2015, same-sex marriage was legalized in America. Millions of people were told they were not allowed to feel how they were feeling for centuries. Love was illegal. It took so long to legalize because many people in America were so freaked out about the potential risk of an LGBT person raping them or their child or infecting them or it was against their religion.
Weirdest thing is that, in the same America, when non-LGBT people rape anyone, they are less likely to go to jail than any other criminal, even murderers. According to Rainn, Rape, Abuse and Incest National Network, 995 out of 1000 perpetrators in America will walk free. With 38.6 cases of rape for every 100,000 population, as of 2015, that is a lot scarier than the bisexual girl that lives down the street who has no interest in her friend in the same way that she wouldn’t if she was straight. LGBT people are not the problem. Rapists and the morally gray judges who let them walk without so much as a smack on the wrist because it was only one person and they don’t have a history of this sort of thing, are. The victim is never the issue. Ever. People are terrified to tell anyone they were raped because they could lose their friends and even their job. The victim. The victim who was brave enough to speak out against a violation of their body and mind. They have a higher chance of losing their job than their rapists does of going to jail. They have a higher chance of dying from whooping cough, which has a 0.52 death rate in America, then their rapist has of going to jail. Statistically, in America, someone is sexually assaulted every 92 seconds (RAINN).  An estimated 63% of sexual assaults are not even reported. Very largely, in part to the low incarceration rate. In 2010, America was ranked first in 117 countries for number of rapes. Serbia was 45th. One was 1177 times more likely to get raped in America than in Serbia. As of 2015, the Serbian rate of rape cases per 100,000 was 0.7 (Knoema). Serbia is 55 times safer in these terms. They have an astronomically lower rape rate than the United States does.
Serbia has a very high amount of abortions. Taking into consideration that Serbia severely lacked even a decent sex education system to inform their people about safe-sex. Approximately 12% of sexually active women were using condoms in the 1970s and 1980s (Wikipedia). Because of the awful education, abortion was the leading method of birth control. Serbia allows abortion up to ten weeks of pregnancy for a regular case. Twenty weeks is allowed for special cases such as “rape, incest, psychological trauma and socioeconomic reasons” (Women on Waves). Unheard of in America, abortions in Serbia “can be obtained for free as it is covered by the healthcare.” (Women on Waves). The United States does not have nearly as high of an official abortion rate because every woman, and even some men, get verbally harassed for walking into a place that happens to give abortions even if they are there for any other medical reason. Recently though, Ohio, Georgia, Mississippi, and Kentucky have all passed heartbeat bills that make abortion illegal after six weeks. Most women do not realize they are pregnant until almost halfway through their first trimester. Six weeks pregnant is two weeks late on a woman’s period. Texas, Florida, New York, Missouri, Louisiana, South Carolina, Illinois, Virginia, West Virginia, Tennessee, and Minnesota plan on also passing the heartbeat bill this year. Alabama has made a near-total ban on abortion. Birth control, IUDs, and similar things are going to be banned in Ohio. Birth control could stop a fertilised egg from implanting in the uterus and will be considered an abortion, which is already banned. Birth control has about six other uses that have nothing to do with preventing pregnancy. Georgia will prosecute women who plan to leave the state to get an abortion in a state where it is legal. This follows people out of Georgia. This makes women property of the state. Ohio is currently forcing an eleven year old girl, who was raped, carry her rapists child to delivery. Ohio, one of the free states of America, in 2019, is forcing a child, who is in fifth or sixth grade, to carry the child of the man who raped her, for nine months and then give birth. Childbirth is one of the most painful things ever and Ohio is forcing a literal child to go through it.
Serbia may, on a governmental level, be a mess but at least their people are treated well. Despite Serbia being a conflict magnet country and America being “the land of the free”, Serbia generally has less restrictions and more acceptance with these choice issues and maybe -probably- even more. Serbia has a lesser pay gap, an openly gay, female prime minister, less chances of being raped, and abortion is legal and free because of healthcare that makes sense. Serbia is far from perfect but it is undoubtedly closer than America.”

So You Wanna Spin the World Around ch2
You have got to be kidding me, Liz thinks. She flushes and looks around disoriented. Licking her lips nervously, which Max follows with his eyes fascinated, Liz takes his hand. “Hello, Max. I didn’t know you were a detective here.”
Her mouth suddenly feels dry and her nipples harden as she is flooded with memories from their night together. He is such a sweet, respectful man. Until you get his clothes off and it becomes a completely different story- one she would love to visit again.
“Is that a problem?” Max’s chocolate brown eyes search her lighter ones like they hold the secret to the universe. His dark bangs hang boyishly over his forehead from the angle he has to look down at her because she is so much shorter than he is.
Liz shakes her head in answer and gently slips her hand from his. “I’m here to see Sheriff Valenti. She’s pairing me with a detective to work on a case.”
Max eyes her speculatively then jumps when he hears his superior's voice cut through their conversation. “Detective Evans! Stop boxing the forensic scientist in so she can come join us in the conference room.”
Michele Valenti became the sheriff of Roswell in the election after her husband passed away. She is a short latino woman who worked her way up the ranks and expects no nonsense. Her voice booms and is assertive, largely to ensure that no one questions her size or authority. She is clearly the one calling the shots in this precinct.
“Did you bring your crime scene analysis for those four Jane Doe’s to discuss and see if they were related?” The sheriff asks Liz, looking at the folders Liz is holding.
“Of course- with a few extra copies for the meeting. I also ran the DNA and are ready to discuss the results.” Liz follows the sheriff to the conference room confidently with her shoulders back while Max follows closely behind them, trying and failing not to check out Liz’s ass.
“This is Detective Evans. He will be the detective you are paired with to work on this case.” The sheriff gestures back towards Max.
Liz wills herself not to react to that news as if it is a shock to her, and nods in agreement. This will not be awkward at all, considering she has already seen him naked in all sorts of positions. “We just met in the lobby.”
They enter a conference room with a handful of officers already seated. Max sits down  in the front row next to the wall and the sheriff sits in the middle in the back to oversee the meeting. Handing out the folders of preemptive tests she ran on the cases that were sent to her, Liz makes eye contact with Max as she hands him his folder and gasps out a breath when their fingers brush and electricity shoots straight to her clit.
His lips part and tongue peaks out to lick his lips as if he feels something too. Liz can remember vividly how it felt to have that tongue circling her bare nipple, among other places, during their night together and is entranced. A sound- part groan and part sigh- escapes her lips watching his tongue.
Max’s eyes widen and his cheeks flush at the sound. She’s still holding the folder and he discreetly tries to pull it from her grip on it. It only takes a couple seconds but Liz is convinced that if the sheriff could read their thoughts, they would be fired on the spot. His deep baritone voice feels like a caress across her skin when he rumbles out a quiet thank you to her. Maybe she should request a different officer? But what would she say? I’m sorry, I can’t work with this officer because I am intimately acquainted with his cock? Not a good career move.
As she goes to move on to the next officer to pass out the rest of the folders, Max’s fingers wrap around her wrist and slide something small into her hand. “Hold on. You dropped something.”
He can quite clearly remember being on his knees between her legs and the way she tasted. Based on the way she is shifting nervously and the flush in her cheeks, she can too. She left without leaving him her contact information and he needs to talk to her as soon as possible about that night to make working together less awkward. Some closure would also be nice. He has been worried that he did something wrong since that night to not deserve a goodbye. On his end, it was the best sex of his life and she seemed to enjoy it, so why did she leave?
Liz almost drops her folders at his contact against her bare skin and he discreetly hands her a folded piece of paper. She mutters thank you and his fingers slide away from her wrist. There’s no way she dropped anything since Liz is still holding all of her folders. Liz gives him a strained smile before moving on to the next officer and handing him his folder. She passes out the rest of her folders and then goes to the front of the room.
“As you can see from the autopsy done on Jane Doe #1, the victim died of strangulation by some sort of ligature. Semen was found and DNA tested- more on that in a little bit. The victim was 18 years old and latina.” Liz confidently states her findings. “Next page, we have Jane Doe #2, a mid 20s woman listed as a transient. She also died of strangulation with a ligature and had a semen sample to be DNA tested.”
Taking a deep breath for the next part, as it greatly frustrated her, Liz continued. “On the next page, we have Jane Doe #3. As you can see, she also died of strangulation with a ligature and was also a mid 20s latina. However, the DNA sample you gave me came back as having three different people’s DNA present in it- the victim, an unknown male and an unknown female. Usually this means that the sample was contaminated and the evidence would not hold up in court. In the future, I need to be the one to take samples to ensure it is done in a way that isn’t cross contaminated with the officers like Jane Doe #3. I would be happy to teach all of your officers to collect a proper usable sample, Sheriff, so that we do not lose DNA in the future. And if at all possible, I need access to that body to get another sample.”
To Max’s left, an officer scoffs and rolls his eyes. He is pretty positive that is the officer that found Jane Doe #3’s body and took the contaminated sample. When he mutters something about not needing to be told how to do his job, Max discreetly kicks him under the table. “So sorry.” Max whispers, although he definitely did it on purpose.
“Jane Doe #3 was cremated a month ago, unfortunately. We will have to make due with the sample we have. And what of Jane Doe #4?” Sheriff Valenti steepled her hands under her chin, watching Liz speculatively.
“On the 4th page, we have Jane Doe #4. She was an african american female in her early 20s and died of strangulation with a ligature. Her DNA was able to be tested. Interestingly, all four victims’ samples contained DNA from the same unknown male perpetrator. I need to have a detective run that DNA profile through CODUS to see if there is a match to a known felon in the system. And I need to cross reference the missing person’s reports around this time period to the victim profiles to see if we can ID some of these women and notify their families.”
“I’ll get right on that, Ms. Ortecho. I’ll move that to the top of my todo list.” Max gives her one of those half smiles that pops his dimple and tips his hat slightly at her.
Liz pauses for a moment and flushes before coming back to herself. “And most importantly, there appears to be enough evidence to suggest that all four cases might be linked. We might be dealing with a serial killer here.”
___________________
Entering the bathroom after her presentation, Liz unfolds the piece of paper Max gave her. It simply says “We need to talk” in his neat scrawl along with his phone number. She sighed and slipped it into her purse to deal with later. After doing her business and washing her hands, she jumps when she exits the bathroom to see Max standing there.
“I was just going to put that sample into CODUS. You want to be sure I do it to your standards?” He teased her.
“Sure. But Detective Evans, you’ve never had trouble doing anything to my standards.” As soon as she said it, Liz covered her ruby painted mouth. “Oh my god. I can’t believe I said that. That never happened.”
Max chuckled at her slip and winked conspiratorially. “I didn’t hear a thing. Follow me, my office is this way.”
Liz follows him closely to his office and wills herself not to check out his bubble butt as he walks slightly bow legged to his office. Max playfully covers his keyboard while he enters his password to hide it from her. Then he pulls up the CODUS database and asks Liz to read the numbers on the DNA samples to him to cross check with felons in the database to try to find the perpetrator. The computer soon bings with no results found.
“Try searching for relatives of the sample.” Liz suggests, leaning over his shoulder to look at the screen. Max feels like he is surrounded by her desert rose scent and briefly blanks out on what he was doing. Taking his hand on the mouse when he doesn’t move fast enough, Liz moves the cursor to the part of the screen to check to also check for relatives. “The square is kind of hidden if you haven’t used it before.” She explains, before flushing realizing her hand is still over his and quickly moving it back to her side.
“No results detected.” Max reads on the screen. “Huh. So the perpetrator’s DNA was found on all four samples but is not someone yet known to the system. We have our work cut out for us.”
“We will catch him.” Liz reassures him.
“We have to before he kills again. Ok, so lets try the Jane Doe’s to see if we can find a match in the system. Read Jane Doe #1’s barcode number for me?” Max waits for her to start reading the long number out with his fingers poised over the keyboard and types as she reads it to him.
They do this for all of the Jane Doe’s and manage to identify Jane Doe #3 as a mentally ill woman who was in and out of jail just before her death. Sighing, Max tousles his hair in frustration. “Ok, if I pull the missing person’s reports for the last three years to try to match the characteristics with any of the victims, will you help me sort through them? It’s going to be binders full of people.”
“Ok. And we can cross check anyone we flag to see if we agree.” Liz suggests, flopping in the chair across from his desk while she waits for him to go pull the files they need to go through.
“And then, I’m taking you to dinner. We have a lot to talk about and we will both be starving by then.” Max adds, popping his head back in his office. When Liz opens her mouth to suggest that going to dinner alone maybe isn’t the best idea, he holds up his hand. “On me. Don’t argue.”
Max returns with six binders full of missing person reports. If any of the characteristics match a victim, they will then need to find a family member to test for DNA to match them to the victim and positively ID the victim. After hours of flagging missing person’s reports of early 20s women, it is  6pm and technically time to clock out.
“I’m going to stay and finish these. We only have two binders left.” Liz tells him, picking up another 3” binder full of papers to sort through.
“I’ll stay with you to finish up. We can order take out while we work. Do you like chinese food?” Max sits down on the floor leaning against the wall closest to Liz with the last binder. All of the previous binders have dozens of little flagged pages in each of them. Identifying the victims will be a lot of work and this is just the beginning. Max grabs one of the neon pink sticky flags Liz brought and puts it on the report he is reading because the report is about a latina in her early 20s.
“Of course I eat chinese food. What kind of soulless person doesn’t?” Liz laughs, flipping the page she was reading. “Oooh do they have teriyaki chicken with noodles?”
“I’ll make sure to find a place that has what you want.” Max assures her. “We work well together.” He looks up at her shyly through his bangs sitting on the floor by her feet.
“We do.” Liz agrees, smiling warmly at him.
When her stomach growls loudly, Max laughs. “Ok, ok, I’m calling. Your food will be here soon.”

Et Bånd Mellem Krigere - Chapter 1: Before we meet again
Author’s Notes | Okay! I couldn't be mouth shut. You guys know me very well and as Sy says, I'm the "Queen of The Fix-It Fictions" with pride! When I first watched Kriger I was already pissed off with Mads' fate and he became my sweetheart. But A Bond Between People brought us another sweet guy for us to increase our guilty pleasures and love as if he wasn't a criminal after all. Adrian is what was missing for me to launch the Danish Cute Criminals hashtag and go for it! I love these guys, but the Danish writers seem to be really committed to ripping my heart out of my chest! First Mads, now Adrian! Both about to be fathers; both trying desperately to get something they weren't able to reach; both unfairly killed in the end for things they didn't do, betrayed by friends, shot in the head. Fuck the whole universe! I saved Mads once, now its time for him to pay me the favor! I hope you guys like this fic I literally puked 45 minutes after watching A Bond Between People. This came from the bottom of my angry heart and I want to thank @lol-haha-joke for brainstorming with me and allowing this to happen so soon! Love you, babe! Now, let's save Adrian as well! Universe | Crossover between the series Kriger and the movie A Bond Between People Pairing | Mads x Joy, Adrian x Reader Info | Fix It Fiction Words | 2310 ⁑ Warnings: SPOILERS from both the series and the movie. The loud sound of the brakes of Mads' motorcycle could be heard around a quarter further from where Mads was now on the ground. It wasn't a big fall but his bike would be scratched for sure!
Fuck... He shouldn't be thinking about this. Someone was crossing the street and all that effort was to save a life Mads still didn't know if he had saved or not.
"Hey... hey, bro. Are you okay?" a male voice asked and Mads felt someone touching his shoulders, helping him to stop the dizziness and focus his vision once again.
Blinking his eyes a few times, Mads could recognize the guy that was trying to run across the street and caused the whole accident by not looking at the green signal allowing the drivers to go and run over him like a pigeon. So, he was alive, at least.
Mads accepted his hand and the guy ran forward to lift his motorcycle and take it out of the street as Mads was cleaning his pants from the asphalt dust and checking if there wasn't any broken shit in his pockets.
"Blessed be the Gorilla Glass..." he mumbled, checking out his phone without a single scratch.
The jeans, on the other hand, would have to be exchanged - but at least it wasn't his skin ragged like that.
"Fuck... I'm sorry, bro. I wasn't looking. I should have... I was distracted. Shit," the guy seemed nervous, rubbing his face, sighing.
Mads' smiled: his leg took almost all the damage and the motorcycle scratches would be easy to repair. The guy was really nervous when he patted his shoulder, taking off the helmet and smiling.
"It's fine, dude. I'm glad you're alive, at least. I thought I would run over your head or some shit like that," he giggled, causing the guy to smile, still rubbing the short hair in his nape, a little clumsy.
"I'm late for work... I'll have to go, but... Hey, take my cellphone number. We can talk about the damage. I'll help you to fix it. I'm Adrian, by the way," the guy said, extending his hand that Mads gently shook.
"Mads. Don't worry, Adrian. I can repair this easily. Not a big deal. Do you want a ride?" he offered to what Adrian smiled.
It would be a hand for him since he wouldn't be able to reach the slaughtering house in five minutes not even if he could put a jetpack in his ass.
"Sure thing! Thanks, bro! You're literally saving my ass..."
"Get on," Mads smiled, "Where is your work?"
Adrian explained to Mads where was the slaughtering house - a place Mads seemed to know very well, because he made their way there in less than three minutes, giving Adrian his first day right on time to sign in.
It was only when Adrian was already placing his backpack at the locker that he remembered he didn't give his phone number to Mads.
"Shit!" he cursed, the guy was cool and now he wouldn't be able to pay for those damages... "Damn memory..."
Maybe Mads would search for him at work later. Maybe they would see each other again. Something was telling Adrian it would happen. He decided to just let it go and focus on the slaughtered pigs he had to clean for the day...
Tumblr media
  "Fuck..."
It was coming from the door of the club, but Adrian could hear the voice at the radio when the security guard called for a backup at the door - boy was a loser: whatever problem he had he would ask for back up. Adrian was counting the days for that ass to be kicked away so he would take his place at the door for some more money.
"Fuck, fuck, I'm sure it was here somewhere, just gimme a second," the guy insisted as the security guard called again and Adrian got up, sighing.
It wasn't his day of work, but the buddy at the station wasn't there to hear the guard's appeals and if he was able to solve the problem maybe The Monk would give him the position at the door easier.
So, Adrian left his beer and went to the door, but his eyes caught a known figure, searching in his pockets nervously for an ID he didn't know where it was.
"This guy has no ID and insists on getting his way into the club," the guard said and Adrian smiled when Mads looked at the guard, annoyed.
Tumblr media
"I brought it, I'm sure it's here and... Hey, Adrian!" Mads recognized him and Adrian smiled, patting the guard's shoulder.
"He's with me," he said, smiling at Mads and calling him in with one of his hands. "You can let him in."
Mads smiled, but the guard stopped him with one hand in his chest looking at Adrian, who insisted.
"Buddy, I'm telling you; the guy is with me. If anything happens, you can tell The Monk I put him in. It's fine."
Still suspecting Adrian's words and afraid that would give him any kind of shit, the guard took his hand out of the way and allowed Mads to pass.
Smiling, the two of them shook hands and Adrian ordered a beer for the friend he thought he wouldn't see anymore.
"Thanks, bro," Mads said, sitting beside Adrian and accepting the bottle he offered, taking a sip to wash his throat. "I think I forgot that shit home. I mean, who walks around with an ID all the time?"
"Sometimes you just don't wanna be recognized," Adrian joked and the two of them laughed together.
What was supposed to be a long and solitary night for Adrian - since he was at the club after having a fight with Victoria once again - ended up becoming a good night and the good beginning to a friendship that would last for a long time.
From time to time, Adrian would help Mads to go into the club without his ID - or just let him in after he got the position of the guard. From time to time, Mads would help Adrian to arrive at the slaughtering house on time to prevent him from losing his job.
From time to time they would have day offs together and fish, or drink beer together and talk about how Mads was happy after he found Joy around or how Adrian would go rich with that shit he was selling for The Monk.
However, one day it just suddenly stopped.
There wasn't anyone at the spot in the morning, late or running to go to work, in need of a ride. And Mads stayed out of the club three nights in a row for not having his ID to come in...
Adrian wasn't anywhere. Nor answering the text messages he sent.
So, one day, Mads just decided to stop by the place Adrian was always coming out when they met at the bus stop - a place he presumed was his house. A blonde girl opened the door and Mads smiled, despite she didn't smile back.
In fact, she frowned.
"What do you want? Who are you??"
Mads' smile diminished. The girl seemed to be tired, her eyes marked by crying.
"Are you Victoria?" he asked, "Is this Adrian's house?" Mads asked, thinking he could have knocked on the wrong place.
But her face became even angrier and her voice became harsh.
"Adrian was arrested! He'll go to jail for that damn shit you guys were selling for him! I don't know who the fuck you are but stay away from my house. Adrian is not here. He won't be here anymore! Get out!" she yelled, before slamming the door almost hitting Mads' face.
Mads went back to his motorcycle; his eyes looking at the spot where he almost hit Adrian for the first time. The empty space on the sidewalk remembering him of his friend he wouldn't see in a while.
Fucking cops...
He would miss that guy.
Tumblr media
"Fuck..."
Mads cursed when he wasn't able to find his ID into his wallet.
"Nevermind," he said, already ready to leave the queue that burnt one hour of his life just to get to the end and not being able to enter the club because of that stupid ID again.
At those moments, he would always remember his friend Adrian... Boy was away for what? Four years now? Life wasn't the same without that jerk to let him in and share the beer.
"Get in."
Those words stopped Mads, surprising him and causing him to turn back to look at the guard's face - a thing he lost the habit to do since a different guy has taken Adrian's place.
But it was impossible to avoid smiling when his eyes caught a pair of icy blues looking at him.
"Haha... Look who's fucking back in town!" Mads said, embracing his friend that patted his back twice before smiling at him. "You're fucking bald, man!"
Adrian rubbed the exposed head, his hair still cut low as they did in prison. Something practical, he had to admit, but something he was glad to get rid of.
"My turn will be done in an hour," Adrian said, smiling at Mads. "Get my bench warm and my beer cold, bro!"
"Sure thing!" Mads said, going into the bar with his best smile.
There was so much he wanted to talk to Adrian! So much news to tell! The last hour of Adrian's turn at the door dragged itself slowly for the two of them since both were anxious to speak to each other.
But it ended anyway and Adrian took a minute to get rid of his work suit and sit beside Mads at the bar.
"Fuck, dude, I thought you would be in there forever," Mads said, smiling. "I missed you, bro! For fucking freedom!" he said, raising his beer and touching Adrian's bottle in a toast before the two of them could drink.
"For fucking freedom," Adrian repeated, sighing satisfied with the long and cold sip of his beer. "Fuck, man... I missed everything outside, but our conversations were what I missed the most. Almost four years fucking talking to the walls, man. That place would get me mad..."
"I get you," Mads said, sipping his beer again, "The cops had taken me sometimes and I slept at their amazing accommodations a few nights. Can't get how did you survive four years inside that shitty place, bro."
"Thinking on how much I wanted to go out," Adrian answered, and both of them smiled. "But what's up, brother? What did I miss?" he asked and Mads' smile became silly.
"Joy is pregnant, bro," he said, causing Adrian to smile bigger and pull him into his embrace.
"Fuck, brother! We must celebrate! You gonna be a hell of a father, Mads!"
"Yeah, you have no idea of how excited I am! We kinda got married since you left. I mean, we didn't get married yet, this shit is expensive as fuck, but we're living together, so she's practically my old lady now," Mads said, smiling. "And now we're waiting for our boy. It's a boy, dude. I gonna be a father and I can't stop smiling at this."
"I kinda can get you," Adrian said, with a smile, but a smaller one. "Victoria is pregnant as well."
Mads looked at him surprised.
"Fuck! Already?? How long are you out, brother?"
"It's not exactly mine," Adrian said, and Mads sighed.
It wasn't hard to feel Adrian's disappointment, but also, it wasn't hard to notice he was doing his best to turn that thing in something good for them both.
"I mean, I was out for four years, not that we can blame her, but... Well, we gonna keep the baby and I decided to adopt him so... I kinda gonna be a father soon as well!" Adrian tried, smiling little.
"Brother, are you happy with this?" Mads asked, looking straight into his eyes.
"I wanna be, for real," Adrian answered. "I always wanted to have a kid... Victoria had her plans with the school and stuff, but I always wanted to start my own family, so... I'm happy. I am," he affirmed, feeling Mads' hand patting his back.
"Then fuck the whole universe, brother, we gonna be fathers and our boys gonna fucking rule the world!" Mads said, causing Adrian's smile to become bigger and they toasted, smiling at each other.
Pity Adrian couldn't stay too long: he had to work the next day. Piling jobs was something that would exhaust him, Mads knew it very well, but he could understand.
After all, both of them had children to take care of, right?
"Hey, I'm working at the warehouse of the Wolves' club now. But the place is fucking huge and I think the that works with me will quit soon. I'll take a look if I can get a job for you. Maybe they can take you in. It would be nice to have you around and they also have some services for us during the day... You're a butcher, right? I'm sure they can find you something for good money. Better than what you're doing now for sure." Mads suggested and Adrian smiled.
"Call me. At any time," he said, smiling bigger.
"I will, brother. I will," Mads said, smiling.
His eyes following his old friend leaving the club, fast steps to go back home.
It was good to have Adrian back in town. Mads had already put CC in, so maybe Tom wouldn't be afraid of having another friend of his around. And in Tom's kind of business, a butcher was always welcome.
Depending on how strong were Adrian's guts, he would really be able to make some money there...

***** "I was nearby. You should call the cops." Daredevil was facing away from you, his body angled towards the shattered window, but he wasn't moving to leave. In fact the moment he had finished speaking, his entire body had gone rigid. It was like he knew the exact moment you realized that you recognized his voice. "Matt." It wasn't a question although you had a hundred of them swirling around in your already crowded mind. And even though it wasn't a question, you got your answer as you saw his shoulders sag. Slowly he turned to face you and since you obviously knew, he slowly pulled his helmet off. His unfocused eyes move around a bit and you wondered if it was an act. How could it be? How could he fool everyone? And how did you miss that bruise on the side of his face? You glanced over to see the look of guilt and worry on Karen's face and you realized that he hadn't fooled everyone. Or at least he didn't need to fool everyone. Of course people would believe he's blind if people help perpetrate the lie. Karen. Foggy. Who knows how many people knew the truth? Admittedly he was a wanted criminal so probably not many. Without saying another word, you walked past Karen and into the room where you had left your purse. Your hands were shaking as you picked it up, slinging it over your shoulder. Every step made your legs hurt from the glass, but you pushed the pain to the back of your mind. "Y/N," he said, stepping forward but immediately stopping when you turned towards him. "I don't even know what to say," you said quietly before you turned to walk towards the doors. "You're both liars. All of you are. How can you consider yourself people that uphold the law if you're breaking it?" At the wrecked door, you were about to slip through when Karen grabbed your wrist. "You can't go anywhere," she said cautiously, looking back at Matt before looking at you once more. "The parameters of your bail say you have to be with one of us at all times." "I'll take my chances." You slipped from her grasp but then turned to face Matt once more. His mouth opened and closed as if he had something to say and you wondered if it would change the anger and confusion that was building in your chest. What could he possibly say that would make you able to look at him the same? "You're fired," you said softly before you stepped into the hallway. At the front door of the building, you ran into Foggy. He was grinning, a bag of something that smelled sweet in his hands. He started to say your name but immediately saw the disarray of your appearance and reached out to touch your arm. "Y/N? What happened?" He knew too but storming out had used most of your anger. Now you were just left with confusion and a low thrum ounce of betrayal that you didn't know what to do with. Instead of addressing any of that, you shook your head and pushed past him. "Y/N?" He called your name again but you kept going. You weren't ready to listen yet. ------ The door of your apartment was hanging off the hinges. Your first instinct was to go in and see if anything was taken, but the thought that they might still be here made you freeze. With nothing but your purse, you left your building in a hurry. It was the middle of the night. You weren't sure where you were going, but you knew you couldn't stay there. It was like you'd forgotten that you were in trouble. Hell, someone tried to kill you. That thought brought back the fear you'd had with the gun pointing at you. If Daredevil—Matt, it was Matt—hadn't come, you'd be dead. Karen too probably. It didn't erase what he'd done or the lies. Although you had never outright asked him if he was Daredevil, the lie of omission was definitely a thing. Between that and the fact that he wasn't really blind? It was all piling up to make you angry again. At least that explained why he seemed so hot and cold with you. Maybe he was attracted to you but he didn't want you to get too close and find out his secret. And how did more people not know his secret? Sure he played the blind part well, but it had taken eight words for you to recognize him. How did more people not catch on? Plus there were other parts of him that stood out. Like his mouth, you thought hastily even though no one else could read your mind. Hopefully. You spent a lot of time staring at his mouth. It was his defining feature since you couldn't see his eyes through those glasses he wore all the time. To help sell the bit you figured. But it was a nice mouth, the way that it ticked up when he was trying not to smile and the way that it seemed to pull into a frown automatically. You remembered his laugh that night you made him dinner, the way it lit up the rest of the room. If you weren't aware of the fact that you were gone on him, that little stroll down memory lane would have done it for you. You found yourself standing in front of the Garden Well facility. It wasn't open all hours, but as Fran's next of kin, you were able to get through after showing your ID. She was asleep so you quietly slipped into the room, shutting the door behind you. What you wouldn't give for a lock, you thought as you moved to sit on the couch in the corner of the room. There was a thin blanket over the back and you pulled it over your body as you slumped down, resting your head on a decorative pillow that smelled just like Fran. Unable to help yourself, you glanced at your phone and saw the messages from the three of them. Each message was vague as possible, asking if you were okay and if you could please come back so it could be explained. Then there was a last one from Matt that made you pause. I need to explain this to you. Please let me. It was the plaintive note that gave you pause, but you just closed out of the messages and turned your phone off. Maybe some rest would help you know what to do. ------ "Y/N? Sweetheart," a kind voice called and you blinked your eyes open slowly. Fran was hovering over you, a robe pulled around her body as she looked you over. As you sat up, she made a noise in the back of her throat and quickly sat down beside you. "You bled on my couch," she said as she lifted the blanket to check your legs. You hadn't done more than dust the glass off but you could still glass embedded into your legs. Her fingers were gentle but it still stung. She went to the door and poked her head out to flag down a nurse. The room became a bit crowded as a nurse and an aid came in to check your legs and bandage them. The nurse told you to go to the hospital, giving you a look that clearly said that she thought you were insane when you refused, but they were in and out in a flash. Left alone with Fran once more, she moved to sit beside you again. "You want to tell me what happened or do you want to make me guess?" Where to start? With her holding your hand, you started from when you arrived at the office to the point of you leaving. You kept it vague when you said that Daredevil had appeared, but she squeezed your hand anyways. "You could have died. This isn't right Y/N. And you just left? You were supposed to stay with one of them—" She was rehashing the same things that Karen had said, plus what all of them had said in their texts the night before. It was hard to get Fran to understand your side of things when you couldn't reveal who Daredevil was and why it bothered you. Though you remembered the stack of papers that had articles about Daredevil in them that Fran had kept. You'd forgotten she was a groupie. "I had to get out of there Aunt Fran," you said miserably as you picked at the gauze wrapped around your leg. "I couldn't stand there with him anymore." The older woman that you had known most of your life stared at you with curiosity in her eyes. She was a quick woman, had gathered intel on her neighbors for years, so you wondered what she was picking up from you. "Are you one of the people that think Daredevil should be in jail?" "No," you said quickly, uncomfortable with the idea. Even before you knew that Daredevil was the guy you had kind of started to fall for, you never wanted Daredevil in jail. He did great things and sure, maybe you didn't agree with the violence, but he was protecting the city. It was the fact that he lied about being blind. Not just to you, but to everyone. This man had created a persona to protect his night job and in the meantime had lied to every person he met. Maybe he never asked for pity or sympathy, but he couldn't expect that people would be okay with this if they knew the truth. "Oh honey," Fran said as she squeezed your hand to draw your attention back to you. "Did you leave because it was Daredevil or did you leave because it was Matt?" She was stronger than she looked because she refused to drop your hand no matter how hard you pulled. "You knew? And still tried to set me up with him?" How could she? "I didn't know for sure, but I'd suspected for a long time. He's not as subtle as he thinks he is and I'm a blood hound when I sense a mystery. I only figured it out when I saw how upset you were about it all." "That doesn't make sense," you said as you settled in next to her again. "Why would me being upset tip you off?" "Because, dear, it's obvious that you're ass over tea kettle for that man and that's the only reason that you'd get so damn hurt over it." She reached up and brushed at the tears you hadn't realized were falling. "Come now Y/N, don't you know that love is blind?" The laugh that bubbled up came without your permission, but you found yourself bent over as you giggled. Fran was rubbing your back as your giggles started to subside. "How are you so okay with this Aunt Fran? He's a liar." "He's a lawyer," she said back with a shrug. At your dark look, she sighed and stood up, moving over to the table where she picked up the card for Nelson and Murdock. "That man has done so much for us all, not just as Daredevil. He saved me when I fell. He's taking on the businessmen and women that would step on us little people. He's doing good. Least we could do is let him have his secrets." She put the card down but before she could say anymore or you could respond, the door opened to reveal a nurse with a smile. "We're getting ready to serve breakfast in the mess. Y/N, are you joining us?" With a smile you tucked your purse into a corner of the room and walked over to Fran. "Wouldn't miss it." ------ A nap after lunch had been Fran's idea and you had to admit that it was a good one. Up until the moment where the door flew open to reveal the people you'd been ignoring all day. Matt looked like a mess but not just in the way you'd expected him to look after taking on three guys at once. He looked like he hadn't slept in a while. Karen and Foggy both looked around frantically until they saw you. You noticed that Matt relaxed a fraction of a second before the other two. "Well this is a surprise," Fran said in a tone that clearly said she wasn't surprised. "We saw your apartment," Foggy began as he heaved out a breath, his hand on his side like they had run there. "We thought you'd been taken or something." You'd almost forgotten that your apartment had been ransacked; it was the reason you were with Fran after all. "I saw it after I left the office," you said while trying not to look at Matt, "and came straight here since I had nowhere else to go that late." "You shouldn't have left," Karen reminded you as she put her hand on Foggy's back. "The judge said you had to stay with one of us at all times." It had been rash to leave, but you'd been so upset. Talking to Fran had cooled the anger and betrayal but you still weren't sure how to act around Matt anymore. It wasn't just because he was Daredevil, but because he had lied. As if sensing that you were thinking about it, Matt stepped forward and cleared his throat. "Can we talk? Alone," he clarified with a jerk of his head towards the hallway. Before you could reply, Fran sighed and headed over to Karen and Foggy. "C'mon you two, let me show you the gardens while these two have some privacy." Once the three of them were gone and the door was shut, Matt relaxed his shoulders a bit. You gestured towards the couch and watched as he moved that direction. "So you're not blind," you said as you settled onto the couch next to him. "Not," he began, clearing his throat a bit as he pulled off his glasses, "not exactly. I was blinded as a kid but my other senses were heightened and give me a view of my surroundings." He explained how it worked and how he couldn't make out certain things, but how other things were more obvious to him. "I can pick out smells and tastes easily. I have advanced hearing. For instance I can hear Fran quizzing Foggy and Karen on my intentions right now," he said with a smile as he dropped his head. "She's very protective of you." "What else?" He shifted a bit, licking his lips. "What else can I hear?" "Or what else you can do. You're describing it as some sort of echolocation but I saw you fight. I doubt you learned that in the orphange." "Kind of did," he admitted with a shrug. "A man named Stick found me and taught me how to hone my abilities. He taught me how to tell the difference in a heart rate rising out of pain or fear or from a lie. He taught—" "Wait, you can hear someone's heart rate rising?" You could feel your own heart rate doing just that and you wanted to curse yourself. "So you... oh god." Karen's words came back to you and you were struck with the urge to laugh. She had told you that everyone fell for Matt and the irony was that he was aware of it. You could say in his defense that he didn't seem conceited because of it. He was humble which was surprising in regards to what you knew about him now. "I don't snoop," he said softly but you could see some discomfort cross his face. "Unless I think something is wrong or something catches my attention, I try to focus on other things. It's not fair to people that I have that advantage." "But you pick up on things. Lies or increased heart rates?" He gave a quick nod and you laughed, burying your face in your hands. "This is mortifying." His hand gently pressed against your forearm and you peeked out just enough to catch the small smile on his lips. "It... was flattering." Oh god, you thought as you groaned and buried your face again. Flattering? That was definitely not a good thing. "I said that wrong," he said as he let his hand fall to his lap. "I don't mean that I was flattered by the attention. I meant that the reciprocated interest was nice. I was happy to know that the person I was attracted to felt the same and from what I could tell, it wasn't just on the surface." That took a moment to sink in. He was admitting, although through a lot of words, to feeling the same as you. Slowly you lifted your head and looked at him. Matt, who usually kept himself pretty hard to read, was an open book at that moment. You could tell that he was trying to be open with you and you appreciated the effort. He looked vulnerable and unsure. "You lie to everyone in your life," you said quietly. It was the last obstacle you were holding on to, the last thing that was keeping you from just moving on as if nothing had changed. "That you're blind and helpless. Karen and Foggy help feed the lie and tell people that you're clumsy. You act the part," you said with a pointed gesture to the cane he was carrying. Matt collapsed the cane and slid it into his pocket. His glasses were in his other pocket and you realized that this was what he'd look like if it hadn't been for the accident he'd had as a kid. This man whose eyes were unfocused but it wasn't obvious unless you knew it was there. This man who was looking at you as if he could see you plain as day instead of just a shadow of you. "That man that taught me how to fight? He told me that having people that care about me was a weakness. I believed him for a long time but I realized that he's wrong." A moment of silence hung in the air before you swallowed. "What made you realize that?" He smiled and you noticed him tilt his head as if he was listening to something in the distance. "Foggy was the start," he said as he shifted his attention back to you. "I met him in college and he kind of attached himself to me. Then Karen a while back when we helped her in a legal situation. She's stuck around through thick and thin; she's vulnerable but she's strong and I admired that about her." He stood up and moved away from the couch. He walked over to the dresser and you watched as his fingers found the card. He ran his fingers over it before he brought it over to you, handing it to you after a moment. "They make being Matt Murdock worth it, but Daredevil? That's a part of me that I'd been missing since I was a kid. When I'm Daredevil, I'm complete. I can help people as Daredevil and I can help people as Matt Murdock, but I can't be one without the other." You looked at the card in your hand, really looked at it. It was simple, Nelson and Murdock followed by their location and phone number. The card stock wasn't the best and it felt flimsy in a way that you didn't want your business card to feel. "I'd already decided to keep your secret," you said finally as you stood up to put the card back. "My problem wasn't that you were Daredevil. My problem was that you were Daredevil." The inflection in your voice made Matt smile. He pulled his glasses out of his pocket but didn't put them back on. "Let us help you Y/N," he pleaded, stepping up to you and grabbing your hand with his free hand. "You're being set up and we think we know by who. If we're right, we could use your help. And," he added after a moment, a tinge of color rising in his cheeks, "and I want to make sure you're safe." Warmth spread through you and you cleared your throat before you let your hand fall back to your side. "Consider yourself rehired," you said with a nod. X A post will be up right after this for voting.

Note
sooo.... what’s the tea on the new ep? :)
**spoilers for family in flames**
I have so much to say I’m not drafting this on tumblr lest it crash and I lose a soul-crushing amount of yelling into the void.
And, I gotta say, THIS episode is the reason I haven’t posted my adult rankings list yet. THIS RIGHT HERE. I KNEW some crap was gonna go down and force me to make some HUGE adjustments.
Also, We are feeling vindicated in this house today! But let’s start from the top and work our way down.
“Raise your hands if you really care about your parents.”
Fabian having to be like, “Look, your parents suck but don’t you have siblings?” (Kristen: Ugh, I guess)
Adaine pointing out that she cares about Gorgug’s parents.
Brennan listening to them argue about what to do like he doesn’t know they’re about to be arrested for a whole ass MONTH.
Fig wanting to method act while texting the phone, pretending to be scared.
So is the arcade owner (Frank Dunford) relevant? Brennan had the name on hand. But maybe it was just him being a good worldbuilder and anticipating the question. I feel like it’s probably that because this is late in the game to be introducing new people who are super relevant.
“Gilear’s got a little knife”
I KNEW those arcade prizes were gonna be gear they could pick up! ALWAYS RAID THE ROOM. Some of that stuff might have helped in the fight. I loved the group silently reading the cards and exchanging them to whoever they thought it would help most in the background as Brennan did the ID spell.
“This has been, if I may say so, the *best* use of the identify spell.”
I love that Adaine thanks everyone, including her inanimate spells. She’s just a good person.
OK so this episode addressed a LOT of questions I had about how these literal children were getting away with all of these murders and such. Apparently, the adventuring academy kids traditionally just get away with this stuff because of Arthur’s influence and the nature of adventurers.
Adaine coming in hot with the diplomatic immunity and then remembering, oh wait, we’re at war w/ Falinel.
Fig immediately starting smoking when she gets arrested.
I love the federal agent outsider with perspective coming in and being rightfully horrified by the absolute nonsense that’s been going on the past 15 episodes.
Is Riz’s mom the only competent cop at this station? Is there a one competent adult per location rule?
Bill Seacaster Upon Learning the Bad Kids are In Jail: Did you try to escape?
“How are things going?”/“I mean bad. I’m in jail.”
Fig upon offhandedly and indirectly being called a vigilante by Sklonda: Thank you.
Emily loses it whenever anything happens in Gilear’s orbit.
Wild that Adaine decided to spontaneously call Goldenhoard considering what happened later. Like, it wasn’t a completely out of nowhere decision and it was totally logical but they could have easily overlooked that decision.
Like, I know things happen later that make this kinda moot but I loved Goldenhoard’s conversation with Adaine in jail. “Don’t to talk to anyone without a lawyer and kill anyone you have to to get out. The school will pay for the rezzes.”/“That’s exactly what our plan was. God, I love this school.”
Although, sidenote, I feel like you can only easily rez someone within a minute? Like, I know there are other D&D spells that let you do it after a longer period of time but with the whole phoenix egg thing and the fact that they haven’t come up so far, I feel like Brennan isn’t using the in this setting for stakes reasons.
Man that whole conversation with Fig and her mom. Emily plays Fig so balls to the wall that I kinda forget sometimes that she’s actually an intelligent adult woman who knows what she’s doing with the character so I really shouldn’t be surprised with how well she stuck the emotional beats of this episode.
Gorthalax man! TyraWeWereAllRootingForYou.gif If he left, like, actually left and isn’t just held up somehow, then that’s gonna be really not great for Fig’s general psyche.
Kristen COMPLETELY undercutting the moment by point blank asking if they had sex.
No wonder Sandra-Lynn was so worried about Fig. She was totally Fig growing up. Which, lol, she’s not even half tiefling. She was just *like that*
Oh so Gilear has always been super lame. Good to know.
Fig: I think I have mommy issues./The Rest of the Party: You have all the issues.
Fabian: You’re trying to hook up with a 25 year old adult./Fig: What do you mean trying?I’m successfully kissing him once every couple weeks. (Which, lol but also I’m glad that’s as far as it got…you know if it has to go any amount forward).
They just let Bill into the cell?????
Lou when Zac rolls a 1 for perception on Bill Secaster and he knows what’s coming: Don’t fucking do this. (Everyone else: Already trying not to lose it)
Zac’s Gorgug being contemplative and also completely wrong face is so funny to me every time.
“Why would you kill me?”/“Why would you know that?”
Who is more insane? Gorgug for suggesting him and Fabian could be twins (aren’t they different ages????) or Bill for thinking he’s so awesome he could somehow do that?
Kristen trying to help FIg distract Bill by blurting out, “Have you ever had sex?” After the conversation where he said point blank he’s slept with 100s of orc women.
Fabian yelling at his dad is kinda undercut by continuing to call him papa in the most poncy accent.
I don’t think I’ve articulated this properly before but this episode really drove it home: Fabian and Bill have a *close* relationship but not an entirely healthy one. Like, better than Adaine and her parents by leaps and bounds but he wrestled his son in a jail cell while his friends just watched. Like, who does that?
Imagine if Riz had tried to get between Bill and Fabian.
Also imagine being the rest of the party just sitting there, watching that go down.
“We’ve spent so much of our lives obsessed with our dads and we’ve completely ignored our moms.”/“You’re just again talking about yourself.”
I can’t believe Fig’s suggestion spell would have worked if head boss in charge fed lady hadn’t been there. Speaking of her, as soon as she showed up I knew they weren’t going to be able to shenanigan their way out of this one (which is literally the word Emily used, hilariously). I don’t think even a nat 20 would have gotten them very far. Remember last week when I said that I was sure there was going to be a prom finale but I was also pretty sure there was still a good chunk of time before prom? As soon as they got arrested and the feds showed up I was like, “Oh they are not getting out until prom for sure.”
Siobhan trying not to laugh while Emily tries a ridiculous plan that might have worked in a different episode honestly.
Ally trying to Pirates of the Carribean her way out of the jail cell.
The cops didn’t even take their stuff in a month!
“I’m glad this is in my head and no one else can hear things like this.”
I love how Fabian rolls his eyes at Adaine for thanking her spells but he always thanks the Hangman.
Realistically the Hangman would have told Fabian the plan before it happened but the way it played out was soooo good.
The return of Mr. Cubby!!!! I was hoping it would be him but man! It was still so awesome to see happen. I wonder if Brennan introduced that family specifically in case the group ever needed to be busted out of jail (a likely need).
“Laws are threats made by the dominant socioeconomic ethnic group of a given nation.”
“You guys wanna make some bacon?”
“That was on fire the whole time? You’re so brave!” Adaine likes adults who aren’t her parents so much.
Riz being like uhhhhh my mom works here.
“To the AV club!”/“It’s been months!”
OK so they took a palimpsest from Bill in this episode. That was there to tip them off that he’s up to something I’m sure, but I feel like that could also turn out to be a Chekov’s gun for next ep. I’m sure the ability to trap someone’s should would be useful in the finale.
S/O to Brennan for his excellent foreshadowing throughout the episode and honestly the whole series.
Siobhan thinking to check the trash folder of his computer was a good move, even if it didn’t end up being the right one.
OK, strap in guys. This is where things get WILD.
Siobhan’s “Oh shit!” when she got halfway down the page of Watches and Wards and then that Harry Potter sounding sting in the background.
(Before I get any further, I love that Adaine’s first thought was well that means my sister isn’t Kal Vaxis because she thinks her sister is the root of all evil).
But WOW. After all the trash talking of the old oracle, it turns out Adaine is the new eleven oracle! And she has been since EPISODE ONE. I almost thought she was gonna be *that* elven oracle because of the questions the cast was asking but nope. It is, as Zac and Siobhan put it, a The Santa Clause situation where the last one dies and someone else gets the job.
Brennan’s faint amusement as they work through that is so good.
You know what’s kinda hilarious in hindsight about that? I said before that, so far, every person Adaine has pegged as trash has ended up being trash of the highest order and an enemy of the party and of course she’s been good at predicting things! She’s the literal oracle.
Am I reading this wrong or is the Religious Studies teacher name Yolanda Badgood?
Also the sheet says “Lunchlad (Official Title)” RIP dude.
Emily low key thinking this is going to be about pay disparity between the races.
Will putting the book back retroactively get rid of anything bad currently cast in school?
Brennan going, “Nothing happens.”/“You see an upside down waste paper basket.” Is such a GM mood. I had a session once where I spent half an hour just saying, “You’re looking at the door,” in various ways.
No one knows what Goldenhoard’s name actually is and it’s the second to last episode.
I feel like Brennan must have gotten forehead/cheek kissed a lot as a child because he’s constantly having NPCs do it.
Are elves in this setting actually immortal (barring being actually killed) or just long lived? Because Adaine talks like she’s immortal but I wasn’t sure. Anyway, newsflash Adaine. You’ve been mortal this whole campaign! Because apparently, the elven oracle always eventually dies.
I love that Adaine finally confronted the oracle about sinking on a ship and actually ended up kinda sympathizing with her. I can’t believe this is how that running joke ends.
Fabian at the ghost of the past eleven oracle who’s imparting wisdom on Adaine: Who are you?
Ally: Can I do something weird? (Dude, when do you not?)
Ally mumbling through an inspiring spell as Murph clues in to the paperwork discrepancy that blows the plot twist wide open. And then miming the whole thing in the background as the scene goes on.
“He was mean so I thought that meant he was a good guy.” More stern than mean really but yeah! Same Murph!
You know how you know things are about to get real? When the DM starts letting you do stuff like bust down doors without even rolling for it because there are bigger fish to fry.
The 69 glyphs of binding. Nice.
But in seriousness, Kal Vaxis (apparently it’s spelled Kalvaxus but I can’t be bothered to change that in this post) was apparently trapped by Arthur and bound to work at Aguefort (as Goldenhoard) because…he’s a wildcard I guess. Sidenote, can you imagine what this season might have looked like if Arthur hadn’t died? Or was that always the plan for him to die in some way? Like to resurrect an NPC maybe if the crew hadn’t lost 2 party members.
Man when he said last ep that the girls were going back to school I thought OK that makes sense because it’s the AV computer that Biz used or maybe it’s Penelope. But I totally overlooked teachers.
OK so the binding spell specifically says “as long as I live” and Arthur is dead. So….what does that mean exactly? And this plan seems to have been in motion from before Arthur died. What does that mean? Also, if that wording means he’s freed when Arthur dies, what was Arthur thinking killing himself???? Did he need Kristen to sneak him into heaven so he could talk to Sol and do some scheming or something? AHHHHH I have so many questions.
Also in the binding is a clause about tea. Now, first of all, Arthur, bro. Come on. Second of all, a lawyer really should have looked at that. “I will drink anything you give me”? I work at a law firm. I’m a lowly first year but even I know that’s a terrible thing to put in a contract. I’m sure y'all non lawyers know that too!
Karam-Kajam (the binding spell words) kinda looks like “magic maker” backwards. That doesn’t mean anything. I just wanted y'all to know I was freeze framing every thing that might be a clue.
OK ok ok, so I’ve been saying for a while now (in posts but mainly over chat) that all this bad stuff must be like connected to a central person in service of a central goal but the players were probably all unconnected wild cards acting in self interest. The one thing I couldn’t quite put together was what because these plots have been mainly unconnected. But now, we have it! All the weird things starting a war (by manipulating the harvestmen), getting 7 maidens (by manipulating Biz), and reinstating prom king/queen (by manipulating (?) Penelope and Dayne, also yes! my wild card guess was that prom king/queen was going to be part of a spell or curse or something. Guess it was prophecy but yes! vindication!) are parts of a prophecy on how to bring back Kalvaxis! (Along with him getting his “glittering treasure”?)
But yeah! No wonder it was so hard to put the pieces together! They all connected but only through a prophecy. Good job Bren!
“The sun shall fall from the heavens” is part of the prophecy which makes me think Sol or Helios might be involved in this somehow.
Ally: There are definitely going to be 7 virgins at prom. (That deserved a rim shot).
Good on Murph for making sure none of them were on the virgin list bc that would have been a pain in the ass to find out mid-fight. Also, I KNEW “Where are their bodies” was the question to ask last ep when Biz said they were going back to their bodies.
“Who told you that? An oracle?”
I hope Adaine just uses her oracle status to make sick one liners like, “I predict this is gonna hurt,” before she witchbolts someone. She never does her actual job.
Adaine who hates her family, righteously indignant: Between our houses and the world, you expect us to choose our houses?
The rest of the group who loves their family: BYEEEEE.
Well, no. Kristen also had reservations before she remembered her brothers existed.
Adaine texting her mom: You should probably leave.
Siobahn and Ally fistbumping over their mutual not caring about their parents.
OK so what’s up with the rat? What’s so important about the rat? And what’s up with Zayne? We still haven’t figured out what’s up with him.
Still not clear on if the crystals trap your physical body or just your spirit and leave your physical body dormant irl.
So that’s how they got rid of the adults for the fight. Nice job again Brennan.
As far as I can tell, Brennan made up this usage of the word palimpsest and I’d never heard of the word before and now I type it so much. Wild.
“I’m calling an Uber. You use the minute to go look at as much shit as you can. Jump in the Uber with me, come to my house. Look Rudolpho will be here in two minutes in a Honda Civic. Use one of those minutes. Go.”
A Knight to Remember.
They freaking Chitty Chitty Bang Bang to Kristen’s house.
I love how Uber Drivers in this world are still gunning for 5 stars.
OK, time for the most stressful 30 minutes of Fantasy High (so far).
I think the wagering mechanic Brennan used for the fights was brilliant. For each conflict a d20 was rolled. 1-6=epic fail. 7-14=bad but not awful. 15-20=favorable outcome. The twist was that if the person chose to help their family they could give up half their HP and 14 spell levels and he would roll with advantage.
Everyone quickly took that deal except Adaine who truly does not give a damn about her family (and also, reasonably, thought that they wouldn’t even be at home. Idk why they apparently were tbh).
When Emily said, “She’s a complex person and she’s allowed to be,” that was the moment I was like, “Oh yeah. She’s not actually Fig. IRL she knows what’s happening.”
Siobhan uses her divination roll of 18 to save Kristen’s family without having to risk anything but the Ally turns around and decides to take the deal to try and save Adaine’s family WHEN ADAINE DOESN’T EVEN CARE. But it makes sense that Kristen would.
Lou’s monolog as Brennan rolls about how nerve wracking and terrible it is to have no idea what’s going on.
“This is the worst thing I’ve been a part of.”
“I was wondering why my mom visited me and humanized herself and this is exactly why.”
Lou/Fabian: What if my fucking family dies? (F O R E S H A D O W I N G, albeit unknowingly)
Brennan (sagely): It couldn’t have been any other way./Siobhan: It could’ve been!
lol at Adaine trying to trigger that ice cream later wish at their darkest moment (so far). Also, not that I think Brennan ever forgot about it but now I’m for sure it’s gonna come up next ep bc if nothing else that would have reminded him.
OK first up, Fig and her mom.
“Dang they’re already organized with costumes?”
That was so boss, her mom getting revived and then IMMEDIATELY shooting two guys w/ her bow.
Emily LEGIT crying through that scene. The whole room was on an emotional tightrope. You can tell.
Where in the mountains Sandra-Lynn!? I want specifics Sandra-Lynn!!
I love the idea of her jumping out of a window onto a dope griffin’s back. Fig’s mom just bought herself a bunch of spots on my grown-up rankings list.
Ally: THAT WAS NUMBER ONE
Me: SAME.
Next Riz at Strongtower
I knew Sklonda was going to be in the secret room!
I love that apparently Riz can recognize his mom’s gun by hearing it.
I know it was in the promo but Riz’s mom being like, “I was so scared you were gonna ask me to prom” was hysterical.
You just know Sklonda and Agent Angela have been fighting like cats and dogs this past month.
Riz and his mom high fiving. They have the best relationship.
Gorgug and the Thistlesprings
lol, looks like his parents had the easiest time wrecking their intruders.
But based on how it was described as compared to everyone else (bar Fabian–we’re getting there), it sounds like he got pretty dang hurt.
And I guess they have a tank (which they usually use to mow the lawn) and a bomb chest? Wild.
Anyway, if anything had happened to them insert Rosa B99 meme.
“You come to the tree, you better be ready to never fucking leave, you understand?” So boss. (Also, is that a pun?)
Gorgug’s parents launched a satellite while Gorgug was in jail.
Kristen and co.
Kristen’s dad (who is the worst): You think these guys were illegals, what?
Kristen: I’m gonna take the car, byeeee.
Kristen and Adaine bonding over their terrible parents.
I’m Concerned about Kristen’s brothers.
Abernants
They poofed out. Idk why they were still there to begin with.
So the damage they took was supposed to represent the danger the took in their respective fights. Kristen got Adaine’s divination roll meaning her family was fine either way but she did take damage for Adaine’s family. But the fight was already over by the time they got there. So, in story, any injuries sustained must have been from the fight at her house, even though that wasn’t technically the deal.
Anyway, Adaine doesn’t care about her family so let’s not waste any time moving onto
Seacaster manor
Geez
OK, you guys. Let me tell you my buildup to the realization that Bill had to die.
In the first set of episodes, when tone was established, I said to myself, a parent is going to die. I don’t know who, but someone will.
Then, Bill gave them a training montage and I thought, curse of the mentor. He’s going to die. Besides, he’s one of the biggest parental figures and he’s larger than life–perfect for a fall.
Then Sklonda took down the Harvestmen and I briefly shifted my worry to her.
But then Fabian started clashing with Bill. And I remembered all the constant talk of his mortality.
And then, this ep, Brennan made him choose between his mom and dad and I was pretty sure. (sidenote: Fabian yelling at his mom the same ep Adaine said he has a great relationship with his mom. But, like, compared to her, maybe. Also, mean Brennan.)
And then Fabian lost an eye (with a description that still makes me wince) and I KNEW. Once he lost his eye, there was no way Bill could leave the fight alive, thematically.
Honestly, it was a wrap when Fabian played the video from his dad. I was worried he’d die before he got there.
(It was a low blow, and I credit you that.)
Why were there Harvestmen attacking Fabian’s house and no one elses?
Fabian’s mom just drinking while the house is being raided.
I was so sure the tuxed Harvestman who attacked Fabian was going to turn out to somehow be Daybreak or something. Anyway, it has to come up again. There’s no reason for that level of detail otherwise. And tux sounds like prom attire.
Lou rolls a nat 1 and then rerolls it because he has the lucky trait. What’s funny is just started listening to NADNDPod and Murph (who reminded Lou about the lucky thing) disallowed one of his players from rerolling a nat 1 even w/ the lucky in the last ep I listened to. I don’t remember if the circumstances were different though.
Bill handcuffing himself up to keep fighting. Yikes.
Anyway, ugh that whole death scene. I would write more but this is closing in on 4k words and I’ve been working on this for hours. I just wanna say, that was a perfect way to go out for him. Killing 60 people and then getting stabbed by his son and exploding. So baller (as was Fabian jumping out the window onto his bike and catching Bill’s sword. He has so many cool swords now).
It’s a crime no one does animatics for this show.
We also got a piece of the puzzle. Bill was the one supplying the palimpsests (or at least one of the ones. who was doing it before?) not for an evil reason. Just a chaotic neutral reason of wanting to recapture the glory days. So now we know that.
I mentioned this before but…Fabian is Thor.
“I SHALL LEAP INTO HELL AND KILL THE DEVIL HIMSELF” and Bill Seacaster is dril apparently.
I love Fabian destroying the nice thing Bill said about him to preserve his legacy.
Ally: HE COULD HAVE SURVIVED.
I appreciate so much that Lou knew his character so well that without any hesitation he stabbed Bill and that was the right choice.
Whew, that was a lot.
Also, not that I don’t trust Brennan but it’s wild that Bill, the most thematically appropriate parent to die, was the only one who failed his roll apparently.
Aww at Zelda’s message to Gorgug. She made him a playlist! So 80’s high school. It gives him a bonus! Also I really wanna know what’s on the list. Like, is it all fantasy rock puns or actual songs? Yay for Brennan giving them cool items for good RPing.
Live band. Nice.
Emily and Zac both rolled 20’s for initiative for next week’s fight. Hopefully that’s a good omen. We have no way of knowing because THERE’S NO PROMO FOR NEXT WEEK.
AHHHHHHHHHHHH
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
This isn’t edited. This is more than 4000 words. This is so long my computer is about to die. Thank you and goodnight.

“how is it you have so many friends? you don’t even like people” v to l
Lafayette from true blood is a child solider
why did logan invite parker to be with him over break when he obviously wasn’t happy or didn’t want her to go, was it just to prove veronica wrong that “that’s just the way he is” like v said is true, to prove that he has changed.
like it just seems logan and veronica are denying their feelings for each other
that writer from once upon a time is in here, he is in everything
mars uses venus razor
oh the logan piz fight…
such a crap ending to an amazing show
movie
I just love the scene where logan is leaning up against the car like jake from 16 candles (i did post a comparison of the two ages ago)
I like how logan went out with the crazy chic, he was so nonchalant about it, because he wanted to pay veronica back for coming back to neptune when he called even though they hadn’t spoken like 10 years.
kind upset that it wasn’t leighton meester that played carrie
comeback always
logan isn’t supposed to remember the epic quote because he was drunk?
I have so much love for logan, I relate to him so much and it was honestly the best day of my life when I met Jason ( i also met percy and michael) he was so kind to me and I gave him a letter I had written and he was just so down to earth.
How else is pumped for the return?!?

This is the last chapter before the finale three. I can’t believe it. We’re almost there.
Also, in case any of you have read Won’t Go Quietly, I know there are some similarities in this chapter to chapter three but I promise that it’ll end happier. Really.
Chapter Summary:   Nadiya makes a suggestion. Mary Sage likes the sound of it. Grace provides a way.
__________________
Nadiya woke up slowly, curled tightly around Mary Sage.
Today’s the day, she thought vaguely, and decided she didn’t really have to be awake yet. If she could, she would stay here forever, arms wrapped around her girlfriend, not having to think about anything except what they were going to have for breakfast and whether she should make coffee at home or pick it up on the way to work.
That’s what she wanted, she realized. She wanted a regular life with her job back, and with a small but cozy apartment, and waking up with Mary Sage again and again and again.
“You awake, Nad?”
“Yeah.” Nadiya buried her face in Mary Sage’s hair and breathed in her soft, Florida-reminiscent scent. “Wish I wasn’t.”
“How ya doin’?”
“Not great,” Nadiya admitted. “I wish we didn’t have to do this.”
“Me too.” Mary Sage twisted her head back so she could give Nadiya a sleepy kiss. “How long d’you think we can stay in bed before Grace comes in an’ yells at us?”
“Not long enough.” Nadiya knew she wouldn’t have the courage to say it later – or the time, probably. “Mary Sage?”
“Mmhmm?” Mary Sage turned around fully, blinking soft, sleepy eyes at Nadiya.
“If we… survive tonight,” Nadiya said, “I – God. I know we’re girlfriends now. But I really  like you. And I don’t want to… not do this.” She gestured between them.
“I mean, same,” Mary Sage said. “What’re you sayin’?”
“I don’t know what plans you have, but I was thinking… half-thinking… maybe we could live together,” Nadiya said, in a voice so quiet Mary Sage wouldn’t have been able to hear it if they weren’t so close.
Mary Sage was silent for a long moment, just long enough for Nadiya to start thinking this was a bad idea, for her to think about panicking, but then she smiled a little. “Don’t have any plans,” she said. “Never did, really. I worked with my parents on their shit until they got arrested, and then – well, you know since then. Tryin’ to get them free an’ the Fellowship an’ all. I think… I’d really like that, Nad.”
“Yeah?” Nadiya nudged her nose against Mary Sage’s, making eye contact with more difficulty than she usually did – usually Mary Sage had her glasses on, and that made it easier. “We could… find an apartment, and I could see if I can rebuild my lab at all. It wouldn’t be very big. Unless Dad helps out, I’m pretty broke.”
“Bet I’m broker,” Mary Sage said, and giggled. “Hell, Nad, I don’t care if I’m sleepin’ in a closet as long as I’m with you. Maybe I can even get a real adult job.”
“Wouldn’t that be something.” Nadiya took a deep breath and smiled. “And we’ll get your parents out of jail.”
“They’d like you,” Mary Sage said, and rested her forehead against Nadiya’s shoulder. “They were always tellin’ me to find somebody nice, they didn’t think it was good for me to stay with them forever. Don’t think any of this was what they meant, but…”
“It works anyways.”
“Let’s plan on that,” Mary Sage said. “Let’s count on winning. Let’s say we’re gonna wake up again tomorrow morning, an’ this whole shitshow’ll be over. Okay?”
“Okay,” Nadiya said.
And as they both drifted back to sleep, Nadiya could feel their heartbeats – predictable as the sunrise peeking in through the curtains, comforting as a daily cup of coffee.
It seemed like no time at all until Grace was handing out supplies and shooing them into their respective rooms. “The fake IDs should get us in,” she said. “They don’t need to do anything more than that. Avoid anyone familiar or in uniform until the ball’s rolling. We can’t do anything with the cameras until we’re ready to cut into the feed. The IDs and everything else you need should be in here.”
Earlier in the week, Grace had prepared disguises for them, with their input. Or rather, they were what she called disguises – she claimed it was going to be a fancy event, so they’d need to fit in. Nadiya’d gone with a suit, as she had a feeling it’d be easier to fight in, and there was no way she wasn’t going to be fighting. Simple enough: dress pants, an ivory shirt, and a dark vest with a tie. It was probably all going to be ruined anyways – Grace said not to worry about the cost, so Nadiya didn’t.
She’d requested one other thing, though.
Awkwardly, watching a how-to video on YouTube as she stood in front of a mirror, she wound the purple paisley scarf around her head, pushing bobby pins into the sides to hold it in place.
Propped against the mirror, her parents stared at her from behind cheap glass. She wasn’t a carbon copy of either of them. She needed people, unlike her dad. She wanted to stay  with people, unlike her mom.
She was Nadiya Jones, and she was wearing a hijab because she wanted to, and she had a girlfriend, and she was going to fucking kill Martine.
“Nad?” There was a light tap on the door.
Nadiya turned around, and standing in the doorway, a grin on her face, was Mary Sage. She was wearing an asparagus-green, knee-length dress over short brown leggings. She was also wearing sandals and a knitted beige cardigan, the sleeve of which she was tugging on. Her hair was no less wild and orange, her eyes no less muddy behind her round coke-bottle glasses, her freckles no less prominent, her nose no less snub and upturned, but Nadiya felt something lurch inside of her at the sight of Mary Sage. Her girlfriend.
“You look really good,” Mary Sage said.
Nadiya flushed. “You do too.”
“All fancy.” Mary Sage walked up to her and ran her fingers over the edge of Nadiya’s hijab absently, and then again, with more intention. “This is new.”
“I wanted to try something different,” Nadiya said. “Haven’t see you in a skirt before.”
“I like wearing them, but they’re not great for bein’ on the run,” Mary Sage said with a shrug. “Think we look enough like rich people?”
“I hope so.” Nadiya fiddled with the bracelet around her wrist. She hadn’t been willing to take it off, even if it did look unprofessional. It was too important. “You ready?”
“As ready as I’ll ever be.” Mary Sage tugged a little at Nadiya’s tie – Nadiya wasn’t sure whether her intention was to straighten it or set it askew – and then grabbed Nadiya’s hand. “Let’s fuck up the feds.”

Chapter Text:
“Agent Alex Danvers, FBI.” Alex flashed her badge at the NCPD officer stuck on front desk duty.
He barely deigned to look up from the sports section of the newspaper propped up in front of him. “Yes?”
“I have a meeting with Officer”—Alex glanced down at the index card with the scrawled name of the woman Kara had picked out of their virtual lineup of NCPD officers—“Maggie Sawyer.”
“One minute.”
Alex tapped her foot as she waited for him to call her.
“Sawyer? … Yeah, some fed’s here to see you. You want me to send her to you? … Alright.” He looked back up at Alex. “She’ll be here in a minute. You can take a seat.”
Alex glanced over at the rows of plastic chairs bolted to the floor, opting to stand instead. After a few moments, a small woman strode into the waiting area. With a smile that seemed less than certain on her face, she raised her hand in greeting. “You’re here to see me?”
“Officer Sawyer?”
“Detective Sawyer, but yes, that would be me.”
“My name is Alex Danvers. I’m an agent with the FBI unit that your division has expressed interest in supporting on the occasional small case.” She held up her badge as a show of good faith, even if it was a faked ID.
“I don’t think that’s quite how we phrased it, but sure, come on back.”
Alex followed behind Maggie, watching the way her hips swayed slightly with every step, drawing her attention—nowhere, absolutely nowhere. She shook her head and sped up to walk at Maggie’s side.
Once they were settled in one of the small meeting rooms, Maggie sank into a chair, steepling her hands on the table in front of her and regarding Alex with a slight tilt to her head. “What can I do for you, Agent Danvers?”
“I figured it would be good to meet after the first extraterrestrial threat in which you and your division”—Alex bit back words like “meddled” or “got in the way” or “talked about things you couldn’t understand”—“intervened.”
“Mm, right. The K’hund.”
“I…yes. Did Supergirl speak to you?”
Alex couldn’t help but notice the way Maggie rolled her eyes at the question, feeling herself bristle in turn. “No. You think I need Supergirl to give me information as basic as the kind of alien we’re dealing with?”
“It’s just, certain things aren’t exactly common knowledge.”
“Most things aren’t common knowledge. But once it’s your job, you learn them.” Maggie said it so matter-of-factly that Alex almost found herself nodding right along with her.
“Some things are classified, though, and there will be situations in which we at the FBI will need to be the ones to call the shots and take point.”
“You mean steal jurisdiction and leave us in the dark.”
Alex ground her teeth together, hearing J’onn’s voice in her head telling her to play nice. “I mean ensure that the situation is handled appropriately.”
“With no oversight or care for the aliens’ rights.”
“Do you have any idea about the K’hund you were dealing with?” Alex scoffed, pushing her hair back from her face. “He’d been imprisoned before. Twice actually. Even if we ignore his prior records, here on Earth he went out on a spree destroying armored vehicles, abetting criminals in stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars’ worth of gold, killing or seriously injuring almost a dozen guards in the process.”
“So there are trial records?” Maggie arched an eyebrow as she held Alex’s gaze, the corner of her mouth curling up slightly as though she were enjoying herself.
“You have a jail cell to hold someone who can crumple a car into a ball of metal with his bare hands?”
Maggie shrugged. “Even if the containment is on you, there are rights that shouldn’t be abridged.”
“I—you don’t know what you’re talking about.”
“Oh really? Do I still not know what I’m saying when I look at that fake badge of yours and call your bluff ’cause I can tell you’re DEO from a mile away?”
Alex felt her hands curling into fists. “I can see this was a pointless meeting.”
“What? Mad that someone might not let you get away with running a black ops site in the middle of nowhere?” Maggie yelled after her, but Alex was already through the door and striding back outside.
On the drive to the DEO, Alex called J’onn, grumbling loudly about pain in the ass cops who should learn to stay in their own lanes.
“Alex, please tell me that the working partnership is still intact.”
“It is. I left, but I didn’t yell at her…not really.” She could hear J’onn sigh through the line.
“These orders are coming from high above me. With the President’s new Alien Amnesty Act signed into law, we’re going to see more and more changes.”
“But—”
“Alex, some of them will be good. People like me, like your sister—we might be able to live openly, and even if I'm still not certain about how it will work in practice, it is law now. But that means that things like alien rights will need to be a consideration. The way we’re operating now might no longer work.”
“Okay, fine. Say you stole from a store. Sure, you should get a trial. But J’onn, these Fort Rozz aliens have intergalactic rap sheets that go on for pages!”
“And a few of them were subjected to an unduly strict justice system and given life sentences for petty crimes that might only have garnered fines and community service here.”
“What about the ones trying to kill my sister, J’onn? I’m supposed to let the cops throw some flimsy handcuffs on them and put them in front of a jury of people they could kill with a single punch and call that justice?”
“It’s—it’s more complicated than that. We are not ceding control completely. But the new law means there will be cooperation. It means being a little more upfront and self-reflective.” A pause. “I’ve not been the most open to these changes, but I’ve been working to understand them. I think Kara might be a step ahead of both of us here. Perhaps it would be wise to listen to her.”
“Maybe.” Alex was anything but convinced.
“Change is coming whether we like it or not. We’ll do well to get out in front of it, set the terms of these partnerships while it’s still in our power to do so.”
Alex hummed in understanding. She’d adapt; she could do that. But ceding any amount of control to Detective Sawyer? That would happen over her dead body.
---
Alex spent her evening reading through the articles Kara and Cat had been writing about the Alien Amnesty Act and alien rights over the past few months. She remembered listening to Kara rave about having the opportunity to work with Cat “as equals, Alex, can you believe it?” but she had heard so much about the articles while Kara was writing them that she never got around to reading the final drafts, let alone Cat’s pieces.
Begrudgingly, she admitted that they made a few good points. The interviews they had done with aliens from across National City had moved Alex in ways she hadn’t expected. There were children forced into home-schooling because they couldn’t pass as human, and adults forced into manual labor without any protections or insurance, being paid well below the minimum wage because they couldn’t get papers.
Alex thought back to Kara’s early days with them. She’d had trouble controlling her powers at first, and she had spoken in halting sentences with odd inflections on the words, but she’d never struggled to look human. That was something Alex had always taken for granted. But seeing the portraits featuring silvery skin that shimmered underneath bright flashes or scaled hands that held a child close to a mother’s chest…that wasn’t a possibility Alex had ever considered. She’d seen less-than-human hands curled around weapons pointed at her and her team and her sister; she’d watched distinctly non-human faces contort with rage in the midst of warfare and destruction. But the portraits Cat had organized—well, there was a reason she won as many awards as she did.
Come the end of the night Alex was far from convinced—especially when it came to NCPD’s involvement—but she thought J’onn would be proud of her for trying, and that had to be enough for now.
---
Two quiet days in a row with J’onn out of town had to be too good to last, and sure enough, on Thursday, a group of three Tormocks, one of whom pinged as a Fort Rozz escapee, laid waste to downtown National City.
Ignoring the call from NCPD, Alex ordered Alpha and Beta teams to mobilize and meet Supergirl downtown to provide backup. A call to Vasquez at the desert base from the van was enough to have a third team meeting them to secure the area and provide aerial reinforcements should they become necessary.
Deep in the fray, Alex cursed as bullets bounced ineffectively off the skin of the Tormocks, shifting as they did to become bulletproof and static or mobile and deadly in turn. Supergirl was holding her own, but there were only so many things she could do when her opponents could alter themselves at will, becoming impervious to her every attack.
Bullets ricocheted off the Tormocks' suddenly solid forms, and Alex found herself ducking and dodging more rebounding attacks from her own team than from the aliens.
The DEO agents confused and frustrated, and Alex watched on in horror as a few of them let their guard down long enough for a Tormock to strike out with an arm that was suddenly sharp as a blade.
“Man down! We need a med evac,” Alex barked into her earpiece as she watched Jackson, one of the agents from Beta Team, fall, a gash across his face and upper arm, his chest having been saved only by his Kevlar. Dodging attacks, Alex wove her way across the street and grabbed Jackson, dragging him to the relative safety of an alleyway.
“You’re okay,” Alex insisted, putting pressure on the wound and calling again for backup as she watched blood soak through the fabric over his arm at a pace that seemed much too fast to give the man a solid chance at survival. She swallowed back fear, repeating over and over again that he would be okay, even as she radioed in to the med team to let them know that his brachial artery might have been cut and they needed to have blood ready for him stat.
As soon as Jackson was whisked away into the back of one of the med vans parked a few blocks over, Alex threw herself into the fight with a renewed zeal, rage and frustration pulsing through her veins.
It seemed like a small eternity before a first shot landed, wounding one of the Tormocks while he was in a more vulnerable form, lashing out to try to attack Supergirl.
Alex whipped her head around, looking to see who’d managed to get the shot off, following the bullet’s trajectory back to a dumpster where she found the same damned detective from Monday crouched low, little more than a standard-issue police gun in her hand.
“Get out of here!” Alex hissed, jogging back to the dumpster.
“I’m the first one that got a shot in! I’m staying.”
“This isn’t your mission.”
“Only because you’re all too stubborn to admit you could use help.” Maggie popped up, firing off another round and landing a glancing blow to the same Tormock as before, who seemed to be moving more slowly, his shapeshifting not coming as easily as it once had. “See!”
“Do you even have a vest on for protection?” Alex grumbled before leaning out to fire off a round of her own, cursing under her breath as she caught the thick armor.
“Trick is to start shooting while they’re still armored. The second Supergirl leaves herself open for an attack is when they shift, and that’s when they’re vulnerable, but only for a few seconds.”
Alex watched, noting the exact moment when Supergirl turned her attention away from one of the three aliens. Never one to be bested, Alex sent a volley of bullets in his direction, letting out a satisfied huff as they met their mark, leaving one down—or at least down enough to contain—and two to go.
Maggie looked almost impressed. “Good shot.”
“It’s my job.”
“God, you’re infuriating.”
“And you’re not?”
They were soon distracted by one of the remaining two Tormocks, and Alex called out orders to her teams, breaking down Maggie’s instructions over the comms and getting her best long-range shooters in position, while Supergirl was left with only a small handful of agents who knew where to stand to avoid the line of fire.
By the time they wrestled the third alien into containment in the back of a DEO van, Alex had three wounded agents, including Jackson, who remained in critical condition. With an excuse to that effect, Alex brushed off Maggie and hopped into the back of a van, calling in for updates from all of her teams as they drove back to the downtown branch while the transport van took the Tormocks out to containment in the desert base.
Between check-ins with the wounded agents and more phone calls than she’d ever wanted to make and stacks of paperwork that seemed endless, Alex felt the post-battle adrenaline surge seeping out of her and leaving her exhausted.
After one final call down to the med bay to inquire into Jackson’s status—still critical, though it looked like he would pull through—Alex dragged herself out of the office. The short drive back to her building passed in a haze, and she cursed the lack of an elevator as she dragged her legs up the four flights of stairs to her apartment.
Once she was in the door, Alex kicked off her boots and shucked her jacket, pulling off the rest of her clothes as she made her way to the bathroom and into the shower. It didn’t matter that she’d washed off at the DEO; it never felt like she’d quite left the battle behind until she stood beneath the hot stream of water in her own bathroom in her own apartment, letting the final remnants slip away in the steam. Not that they ever went away entirely. She knew well enough that the nightmares that woke her weren’t random, much like she knew there was more behind the way her thoughts raced and spiraled, keeping her awake on days when she’d come a little too close to losing people, to losing her sister.
That night, though, Alex felt ready to fall into a deep sleep as she sank down on the mattress and pulled the sheets up around her, letting her head nestle into the pillow.
Barely an hour later, she woke with a start, bolting up and scrambling for her gun as she tried to figure out what had pulled her out of such a deep sleep.
A thud against the wall behind her headboard drew her attention.
“Fuck.”
Alex narrowed her eyes at the offending woman’s voice, but it seemed to quiet. Perhaps she hadn't been the culprit after all.
After a few minutes of murmurs from next door that were barely enough to constitute noise, Alex sank back down into the covers, letting herself get comfortable once more.
It was then that she heard the squeaking of a bed frame. Incessant. Grating. A few minutes later it was joined by a woman’s breathy moans—fuck, oh god, don’t stop.
Alex blinked at the clock on her bedside table. 10:49. Possibly early enough that normal people would still be awake. Of course, normal people hadn’t been awake since 4:30 and battling aliens into the early afternoon. Not that her neighbor knew any of that. Because Alex was a good neighbor who didn’t leave any indications about her schedule.
She ground her teeth as the rattle of the bed grew louder, the woman’s demands and moans increasing right along with it. A loud, high-pitched whimper finally rang out, and Alex let out a preemptive sigh of relief.
To Alex's dismay, the process repeated another two times before the noises stopped entirely.
Well, wasn’t he considerate, Alex thought to herself. Then again, maybe it had all been faked. God knows she’d done it a few times. Or, well, more like all the times. But she didn’t need to dwell. Instead she pushed all those questions down with her ever-growing to-do lists and thoughts about calls she had to make, resolving to deal with them all in the future. Maybe.

The Law par II
◇Jay’s views ◇
Jay: you really shouldn’t have done that. That was my favorite car, and more importantly, I really like this girl.
I honestly lost it seeing Lily bleeding on the floor I couldn’t help but feel like smashing his head on the floor, and for a split second, I lost it.
*Seconds later *
Lily: What are you doing? You’re already under investigation, if they caught you beating up someone, you’re gonna end up in jail. The police are going to be here any minutes
Jay: what about you?
Lily: I’m fine.
Jay: you’re bleeding
Lily: just leave don’t worry about me, I’m a cop I can take care of myself.
Jay: I’m not going to leave you bleeding again
Lily: why do you care if I bleed or not?
That’s something you’ll have to find out later.
Lily: how are you going to leave? Your car is trashed.
*sirens getting closer*
[[ MORE]]
Lily:*shivers* you really stubborn you know that.
Jay: that’s one thing we have in common, *puts his Jacket on her* besides this car is under my name, even if I run they’d still go look I for me.
Lily: if you stay here you go to jail, no difference
Jay: yes there is
Lily: what’s that?
Jay: you can bail me out *clicks his tongue*
Lily: what about the blood on your hand?
Jay: reflex…
Lily:…
When the cops finally showed up, Lily talked to them, even though things look good on my part, she on the other hand’s getting yelled at.
*20minutes later*
Jay: how’d it go?
Lily: well you’re free to go
Jay: what about you?
Lily: don’t worry about me, your cab is here.
Jay: aren’t you going to the hospital?
Lily: I’ll be fine
Jay: I’ll see you later?
Lily: Bye
Lily’s views
Getting home all I want to do is take a shower and go to sleep. Made my way straight to the bathroom and turn on the water. Every part of my body stings under the hot water.
After getting out of the shower, something feels off, like someone else is in the house. I don’t have any weapon, the only thing I can grab is an alcohol bottle and to my surprise, it’s that idiot.
Lily: what the hell are you doing here? Do you break into houses to?
Jay: Okay, first of all, put that bottle down, second, you left your bag in my car since it has meds and your ID I figured I should bring it to you.
Lily: you could’ve taken it to the station
Jay: not my favorite place.
Lily: thank you for my bag. Now if you’ll excuse me I have to go patch myself.
It’s much harder than I expected, I can’t see my back, so it’s much harder.
Jay: need help?
Lily: *sigh* just the ones on my back I can figure the rest out.
Jay: Okay.
Like that he patched up everything.
Jay: you should take better care of yourself.
Lily: I’m not the problem, my blood seems to be spilling out whenever you’re around.
Jay: sorry about that
Lily: you should be
Jay:*smh* are you that mean to everyone?  is it the fact that you’re a cop? Or just naturally mean?
Lily: I’m naturally mean.
Jay: well that explains a lot
I am so done with today it’s already 12 AM with all the commotion that was going on.  as much want to kick him away, his hands are bruised and need a band-aid on his forehead.
Lily: thank you
Feeling sorry for him, I went in my drawer and get him a pair of matching of sweatpants
Lily: *hands him the clothes* here, you should freshen up and I will patch up your hands.
Jay: I don’t need to-
Lily: towels are in this closet *closes the door*
My body is killing I can’t even make anything to eat, I guess cereal it is…again.
Fifteen minutes later he got out of the bathroom.
*Jay’s views*
I have so many things to ask her, but no way she’ll answer me.
Lily: sit down, I’ll get the first aid kit.
*minutes later*
Lily: this will prevent it from leaving a scar
Jay: ow
Lily: It doesn’t hurt
Jay: is your boyfriend gonna be okay with me wearing his clothes?
Lily: let me see your hands?
Jay: *hold out is hands* no boyfriend?
Lily: you didn’t have to hit him hard, I don’t think this guy is going to be able to talk or eat properly for a while.
Jay: I don’t like people touching things that are mine.
Lily: I see
Jay: Look I know you might not want to talk about the case but-
Lily: you’re right I don’t *close the kit*
Jay: Okay, well how about we get to know each other, you know like friends.
Lily: you’re a thief I’m a cop, that’s all there is to know
Jay: how about we put out “professions” on the side, tell me about you.
Lily: I can’t talk on an empty stomach.
Jay: want me to make you something?
Lily: Can you even cook? And besides, it’s too late to eat anyway
Jay: it’s never too late to eat, just wait here.
I’m not the greatest cook, but I can make a good…..something. While making the food I overheard her on the phone. With it being almost 1 am it’s got to be.
After 45minutes I ended up with shrimp pasta.
Jay: dinner is served
Lily: dinner?
Jay: in this case early breakfast?
Lily: since we’re at it movie?
Jay: like a date?
Lily: keep flattering yourself
Jay: *lol* Hey I had to try
Judging by her queue, all she watches is solving crimes shows. There are so many things I want to ask, but I have too much going on. Maybe after the case is solved. I wonder if I can get a hint out of her?
She ate all her food and then fell asleep
*next morning*
Waking up I found a pillow and a blanket over me. So she has a heart after all.
Lily: good morning
Jay: morning, you’re already dressed?
Lily: uh.yes, I have somewhere I have to go.
Jay: so early?
Lily: yes, it’s  urgent
Jay: Oh, I see.
Lily: should I call a cab for you?
Jay: No, I can just get someone to pick me up
Lily: okay
*later*
Gray: you spent the night with her and you didn’t get anything out of her? Not a hint
Jay: the girl is already wounded
Gray: look it’s obvious that you have feelings for her we get it, but can we at least get to the bottom of this first?
Jay: I’m going to take a shower good shower cancel everything for the day.
Gray: about that, we got an invite to Dok2  dinner slash party slash peace offering tonight.
Jay: you think I’m going?
Gray: Yes, to find out if he had something to do with us being set up and the shootings.
Jay: we’ll see how I feel when I wake up.
After taking a nap, I’ve decided that I’m going to go. I got ready.
Getting there the vibe is just off
Simon: you know maybe you were right, it was a bad idea to come here.
Jay: really?
With everything that’s going on, we can’t afford to get in any further trouble.
Gray: there he comes
Dok2: hey I didn’t think you’d show up
Jay: well I had nothing better to do
Dok2: how’s your investigation going?
Jay: I don’t know, what about you?
Dok2: just here..enjoying life’s opportunities.
I wanna punch him so bad.
Dok2: if you guys don’t mind excuse me for a second, my VIP guess is here.
Lily?? What’s she doing here?
Gray: Isn’t this..?
Simon: what is she doing here?
Dok2: *walks back* guys meet my date for tonight Emy
Lily: hi
Even she herself shocks to see me here.
Dok2: I didn’t think you’d show up?
Lily: you didn’t really give me the option to say no
Dok2: well I can be very persistent when it comes to things I want.
Lily: *blushes*
Dok2: wait here I’ll go get you a drink
Lily: okay
Dok2: *walks away*
Lily: what the hell are you doing here?
Jay: I should be asking you that
Lily: I was invited
Jay: so was I
Lily: look you have to get out of here
Jay: because-
Dok2: I’m back
Lily: *take the drink from him*
Dok2: hey if you need anything just ask me, and I’ll make it happen
Lily: anything?
Dok2: yes
Lily: Well how about a tour of this place?
Dok2: my house?
Lily: Is that a problem?
Dok2: no, you might just end up in a room and not come out
Lily: that wouldn’t be a bad thing……. would it?
Dok2: *smile*
She’s flirting with him and I’m standing right here. Why would she care about how I feel anyways?
Simon: you alright man?
Jay: I’m good, look I’m gonna head out.
Gray: too hard to bare?
Jay: I have better things to do.
Making my way out of the place I see the two of them talking.
Dok2: leaving already?
Jay: Yeah, I have a meeting in the morning.
Dok2: you’re not the type of person to go to bed that early.
Jay:*smh* Nah I’ve had enough drinks good night man, it was nice meeting you  *reach his hands *
Lily: *shakes his hand and nodded *
Took me almost 3 hours to get home. Why am I thinking about her? I’m supposed to be worrying about who and why sets me up.
*hours later*
Can’t sleep, standing on the balcony a car pulled in my driveway. It’s like 2 am who would come to my house uninvited? I’m not expecting any females.
Going down to see it is. Certainly not who I was expecting.
Lily
Jay: Lily?? What are you doing here?
Beats me, I was supposed to drive home, somehow I ended up here.
Lily: I think I got lost coming from K’s house, but I’m sure I can find my way back from here. Drinking at this time?
Jay: can’t sleep
Lily: Well, I should probably head out.*going back in her car*
Jay: Hey- uh you wanna stay and have a drink with me?
Lily: no thanks
Jay: Hey, I’m not going to hurt you, it’s just a drink.
At this point, I feel awfully sorry for him because he just went to a party to celebrate him being set up without even knowing it. Pretty much the punch line of a joke. Even though I don’t know how I feel about him, right now I’m only feeling sorry for him
Lily: just one drink?
Jay: just one
*inside*
Jay: Are you feeling better?
Lily: I’m used to getting my ass beat
Jay: how come?
Lily: both my parents were are in the force, my mom left to be a doctor you’d think it’d be easy for me, nope I went to boot camp
Jay: Can I ask you a question?
Lily: what?
Jay: why were you at the party? Were you undercover?
Lily: both
Jay:??
Lily: I want to keep an eye on my partner who was actually undercover
Jay: so you went on a lookout for him?
Lily: yup
Jay: But you’re wounded, shouldn’t it be the other way around?
Lily: better me than him
Jay: why’s that?
Lily: long story
Jay: care to share?
Lily: not really
Jay: oh
Lily: you know I was expecting your house to be a bit more…occupied
Jay: With?
Lily: girls, parties, who knows what else?
Jay: I don’t like to bring things like that at my house.
Lily: what don’t you have female companies?
Jay: that’s why you have hotels, and besides I have another house, my club isn’t as small as you think.
Lily: why not here?
Jay: not bringing randoms females on my bed. Wait, Is that what you think?
Lily:*sips*
Jay: what gives you that impression?
Lily: never mind *sigh* I should be going
Jay: already?
Lily: yea
Jay: can’t you stay a bit longer?
Lily: this dress isn’t helping the wounds on my body
Jay: I can give you something to wear, and you can stay over, besides it’s not like you have work, you’re suspended.
Lily: All thanks to you
I can’t help but feel sorry for him.
Lily: what about you not bringing randoms females to your house?
Jay: that doesn’t apply to someone who’s all bruised up putting her life in danger for me multiple times. So yes? *hold out his hand*
Lily:*stares at him for a few seconds before taking his hand*
*minutes in his room*
Taking the dress off feels so much better.
Jay: should we check to see if you need new band-aids?
Lily: you don’t have to do that, I’ll do that when I get home.
Jay: why’d you wear that tight dress anyways?
Lily: beauty is pain
Jay: I don’t get you females
Lily: and you never will
*Jay’s views*
For once we had a conversation where she didn’t treat me like a criminal or a thief.
Lily: what are you putting on my back?
Jay: a cream so it wouldn’t leave scars
Lily: Ow it stings
Jay:*blows on her back* better?
Lily: mhm
Jay: how come you can handle being slammed into the wall, but you can’t take a sting?
Lily: it hurt
I guess she’s still a girl after all
Lily: so tell me something
Jay: what?
Lily: that girl Anna, how long have you guys been friends?
Jay: about 10 years
Lily: really?
Jay: Yeah. Look I know you’re not supposed to, but seriously I feel like I’m going crazy I just want to know who set me up?  Why?
Lily: so your question is?
Jay: do you guys have any ideas on who did it?
Lily: we do have a suspect and the person was in the same room with you earlier.
Jay: you kidding? Why didn’t you tell me that earlier?
Lily: let’s say I were to close an eye, you were outnumbered, just you and two friends? You think you’d survive?
So her heart isn’t as cold as it seems. But she was right, knowing who it is wouldn’t be good, especially since it’s someone from my crew.
Jay: so what am I supposed to do?
Lily: you’re asking me?
Jay: because if I take matters into my own hands
Lily: *stands up and crosses her arm* What? Uh, what are you going to do? Shoot everyone?
Jay:…
Lily: *sigh* look, just let the cop handle it okay. Obviously whoever take the money either put it in the bank under a different name or somewhere else.
Jay: you said that I got set up by someone from my crew, is it a man or a woman?
Lily: I can’t tell you that. Look I don’t want to talk about the case I’m off of it, it’s not my problem anymore.
Jay: Look I know that you probably can’t stand me, but I need your help on this.
Lily: help you with what? You need to go investigate whoever you’ve had issues with.
Jay: the only person I’ve had issues with on and off over the years is Dok2. He is certainly not going to just say “ oh yeah, I robbed the bank, and I’m setting you up to take the fall”
Lily: Well what do you want me to do?
Jay: Well you seem to be-
Lily: don’t even go there, I’m a DETECTIVE I’m not getting involved in this. That’s you and your crews’ job, which I’m highly Not recommended.
Jay: but-
Lily: you know what, maybe I should just go home.
Jay: okay I’m sorry. I just have so much going on, I’m going nuts. You can sleep here Imma go somewhere else
Lily: isn’t this your room?
Jay: don’t matter *slams the door*
*later in the morning*
I went up to apologize to Lily, but then, the bedroom is empty. Later I’m going to send a message to have a crew meeting tomorrow that includes everyone.
I’m here not knowing what to think I spent the whole day at home doing nothing. I’m going to that one place where I know I can have a little peace of mind.
*club*
My club is repairing, just gonna go local for now.
It doesn’t matter what day it is, it’s always packed. Sitting here not even knowing what to do, or think about besides drinking.
Dok2: ease up on the drinks
Jay: what do you want?
Dok2: just checking up on an old friend
Jay: checking? Old friend? D if I find out that you have anything to do with this I swear I will kill you.
Dok2: *laughs* kill me?
Jay: What are you doing here anyway?
Dok2: the same thing you’re here to do, except not alone
“Hey”
Please tell me it’s not who I think it is?
Dok2: Emy
Lily: sorry I’m late
Dok2: it’s alright. You remember Jay right?
Lily:*looks at him and nod* seems like all the bar stools are taken.
Dok2: Nah I got the VIP section reserved
Lily: shall we?
Dok2: sure
Lily: after you
Dok2: *takes her hands*
Well coming here was also a bad idea. Why does she hate me anyways? It’s not like I did anything to her. She seemed to hate me since we were at the resort.
*Lily’s Views
Dok2: you okay?
Lily: uh?
Dok2: you seem a bit distracted
Lily: sorry I just have a lot going on up here
Dok2: anything I can do?
Lily: Can you go back in time? Or erase memories?
Dok2: I dropped out of magic school freshmen year.
Lily: *bust out laughing*
Dok2: see I got you smiling
Lily: That was a good one, so tell me, what’s your deal? How come you’re not with anyone?
Dok2: I’m with you aren’t I?
Lily: you know what I mean.
Dok2: I don’t really have a love life, because of my work, I can’t have one either.
Lily: why’s that?
Dok2: it’s impossible
Lily: nothing’s impossible, what do you do for a living?
Dok2: I’d have to kill you after telling you
Lily: I see
Dok2 left to go talk to someone, not wanting to stay in the seat alone, I walked out the second floor looking down, I couldn’t help but feel horrible looking at Jay sitting down there, just drinking the night away.
I guess he felt someone’s looking at him, our eyes locked together I literally could not move an inch. For a minute the club gets silence and it’s just us.
Finally, he comes back saying he has to go.
Dok2: I’m really sorry about that, but something came up.
Lily: that’s okay
Dok2: it’s pouring outside, you want me to have someone drop you off?
Lily: No, I’ll be fine
Dok2: text me when you get home
Lily: I will.
Driving home I couldn’t help but to think about him, can he drive home? Why am I worried about him? I don’t care.
*at home*
I love when there are storms like these with lightning and thunder. After a nice shower and a glass of wine is the best way to go. I’ve never had such a good time being suspended.
I took a bath, pink baby doll nightgown. It feels unsettling because as much as this guy was drinking I wonder if he gets home okay. But why do I care? Why am I thinking about him?
That’s not going to work. Getting off of the bed, I thought a robe on, grab my keys, running to the elevator, pushing the button none stop.
As the elevator door open, there he is soaking wet, and here I am standing wearing a night gown barefoot. Standing there not knowing if I should approach him.
I’m not good at the whole showing emotion thing anymore, I don’t know how to comfort him.
Jay: hey
Lily: ..hi
Nothing  I could do but turn my heels walk back to my place.. not being able to tell him to follow me, I hope he does.
◇Jay’s views ◇
How do I get here? Why am I here? I have no clue, I was supposed to drive home. I’m ready here, I’m not just going to leave like that. Following her place.
The door is still open, as I was walking in, she was already waiting with a towel in her hand. Not sure if she’s scared of me, well I know for a fact that she’s not scared of me. She almost seems shaky.
Jay: *stands in front of her * were you going to look for me?
Lily:*starts to dry his hair*
Jay: you knew I was going to follow you in?
Lily: no…but I was hoping you would. I’ll go get you-
Jay:*hold her hands* Emily… I’m …
Lily: you what?
Jay:*let go of her hand* nothing
Lily: I’ll get you something to wear.
I have too many things to do to always end up in her house.
Jay: Are you sure your boyfriend is gonna be okay with me wearing his clothes?
Lily: Do you want to stay with the wet clothes on?
*30 Minutes later*
Getting out she’s sitting on the couch on the computer with files next to her.
Jay: working?
Lily: I’m trying to get this stupid case over with so I can go back to my vacation.
Jay: aren’t you suspended?
Lily: My partner isn’t *closes the laptop*
Jay: *sits next to her*  Can I ask you a question?
Lily: what?
Jay: Tell me something about yourself?
Lily: what?
Jay: you know, other than you’re a detective, and strongly dislike me.
Lily: There isn’t much to know
Jay: Do you have any friends? what do you do for fun?
Lily: I do have friends, I’m just at a point where I want to be alone and not looking forward to anyone’s company. My job is my number one priority right now.
Jay: what about a personal life? what’s going on between you and D?
Lily: I don’t have a personal life, well not anymore.
Jay: did something happened?
Lily: …
Jay: you guys broke up?
Lily: no
Jay: then what?
Lily: he died, in a shootout during a robbery
now I see why she doesn’t like me.
Jay: I’m sorry
Lily: I’m really sick of this word, the past three years all I’ve heard is I’m sorry, I’m sorry. *chuckles* I’m sorry won’t bring my fiance back.
I’m not really sure what to say.
Lily: That vacation was supposed to be our honeymoon trip *sigh* I’m hungry, you?
Jay: Uhm
Lily: don’t worry I won’t kill you, well not until the case is over. I’ll decide if I should put a bullet in your head or no.
Jay: *smile*
Lily: Tomorrow I have to go somewhere early-
Jay: don’t worry, I’ll be out before you know it.
Lily: okay
After we eat, she went to the room.
*next morning*
I called one of my guys to come get me before she even wakes up.
Getting home Anna’s leaving the house with a suitcase.
Jay: where are you going?
Anna: I’m going to relax for a few days, there’s been so much going on, the shooting at the club and police always coming here I need a break.
Jay: Shouldn’t I be the one taking the break? I mean, I’m the one being questioned all the time.
Anna: speaking of which, who is the female cop?
Jay: A detective on the case, Why?
Anna: can I have her number?
Jay: for What?
Anna: Well Simon told me how she saved your life multiple times and I want to  thank her
Jay: you don’t have to do that
Anna: come on what’s the worst that can happen? it’s just being grateful for helping us
I give her the number because I am really not in the mood for all of this. I’m just going to stay home and sleep all day, what more can I do since I have police following me all the times.
Lily’s Views
When I wake up, he had already left the house. I got dress and meet up with Lee.
Lee: sources said that she lives in this building, so we’re just going to wait until she comes out and follow her.
Lily: why not go in and talk to her now?
Lee: because it’s 7 AM, we don’t have a warrant, and you’re suspended.
Lily: you don’t need a warrant to ask questions we’re not going to search her place.
Lee: can you listen to me for a change?
Lily: *sigh* okay let’s wait.
*3hours later*
*Lily’s phone vibrate*
[10:15 ] Jay: Thanks for letting me in last night, your couch is almost as comfortable as my bed *sent a picture of him on his bed*
[10:13] Lily: you didn’t have to send a picture, the thank you is just fine.
[10:14] Jay: why not?  *sent a picture raising his brows*
[10:18] Lily: because it’s annoying? Haven’t you ever heard of emojis?
[10:19] Jay: yes, but I think pictures are better *send a winked picture*
[10:22] Lily: don’t you have anything better to do? Don’t you have to go out with your minions or something?
[10:23] Jay: I don’t have minions, I have people that work for me, and besides I have too much going on, so everyone at home with their families, girlfriends, side chicks and stuff.
[10:25] Lily: you almost sound like a human
[10:27] is that a compliment?  *send a smiling picture*
[10:30] Lily: no
[10:31] *send a pouting picture* speaking of minions, do you want to go see a movie with me?
[10:33] Lily: no
[10:34] Jay: why not?
[10:35] Lily: I don’t want to
This idiot annoys me for the next hour.
Lee: who are you texting?
Lily: no one important.
Lee: no one important been texting you for an hour
Lily: isn’t that her? Walking in with a suitcase?
Lee: so she was not home?
Lily: you know if we had gone up and knocked on her door, we probably would’ve known that she wasn’t there
Lee: shut up
Lily: I’m just saying, now can we go talk to her?
Making our way to her I got a phone call from the police saying they need me home right away.
Getting there my apartment was destroyed, from pictures, couch, my clothes, it’s like there was a tornado in there. On the wall was was Jay’s trademark the same one that was at the crime scenes, and a note saying I should stop working on the case.
Nothing survived, they destroyed everything. I’m so shocked I can’t even get one word out. Like who would do something like that?
After being questioned they take me to the station, Getting Jay was already interrogated, you can tell that he got dragged out of his house since all he has on is his sweatpants.
I walked in in my dad’s office he looks beyond pissed off. He looks at me before I can say anything is me tumbling down. I got slapped so hard I have a feeling that my ear will be ringing so hard all day.
To be honest, I don’t really know what happened the rest of the day after I got sent home, all I did was sit in the apartment or what used to be.
Looking around all my stuff are gone, no clothes, no pictures, nothing survived, besides a few stuff. I found Jay’s sweatshirt under a pile of junk.
I wonder what they’re doing to him over there? Is he out yet? I know the cell room is pretty cold, did they at least give him a shirt? With that being said I took the sweater and head to the station.
Thankfully my dad already left.
Lee: Hey what are you doing here?
Lily: where is he?
Lee: who? Jay?
Lily: yeah
Lee: they’re  about to interrogate him in a bit, they’re reviewing the video footage.
Lily: Okay, I’m gonna go see him for a bit.
Lee: Em-
Lily: just for a few minutes to give him this.
◇Jay’s views◇
Gray: What the hell happened?
Jay: I told you I was at home and the police dragged me out. I don’t even know why I’m here.
Talking to the guys I notice Emily walking I swear she looks like crap, but I’m sure she can tell me why I’m here.
Jay: Hey, Emily
Lily:*stares at him silently*
Jay: what’s going on?
Lily: Here *hands him the hoody he once lends her*  I figure you’d be cold in here.
Jay: why exactly am I in here?
Lily:*turns around and walk away*
Jay: EMILY!
A few seconds later her partner came and take to the interrogation room.
“Where were you this morning?”
Jay: before or after you guys dragged me out of my house?
“Just answer the question”
Jay: I was at home sleeping.
These people are questioning me as if I’m supposed to know is going on.
*Meanwhile outside the glass*
Lee: you think he did it?
Lily: no
Lee: No? What you mean no?
Lily: I think it’s a setup, well another one
Lee: why you say that?
Lily: he has nothing to do with either the robbery and that.
Lee: do you know something?
Lily: that time when I got called back for the case he and I were at the same Hotel. The day of the robbery he followed me to a tour in the jungle, and wherever that was there not really any signal for cell phones even if there were it would cut off anyways. You can check my drives for pictures.
Lee: what makes you think he didn’t order is people to do it, and use the vacation as an excuse for him to not be a suspect.
Jay: Would you leave something big like that with just your crews? They need a mastermind. The people he mostly close to Gray, Simon, Loco and a few more we’re all with him over there.
Lee: when exactly were you going to mention all of this?
Lily: it doesn’t matter?
Lee: IT DOES MATTER EMILY. *sigh* what about today, do you also know anything about it?
Lily:*hands him her phone on the text messages with Jay*
Lee:*going over the messages and the time stamps* If they break into your house while we were out this morning, and he was texting and sending you pictures for two hours with him being in his room that means he also has nothing to do with what happened either?
Lily: You’re a detective just as I am, figure it out
*back in the room*
*20minutes*
Lily’s came and talk to the officer for a few minutes outside and then he walks back in apologize and tell me I’m free to go.
That’s it? I spent the whole day in a cell and no one still won’t tell me what happened?
Gray: you out?
Jay: yea
Gray: what happened?
Jay: that’s what I’m going to figure out.
Gray: home?
Jay: no, take me to Emily’s.
I need at least one person to tell me what is going on.
I want to get to her house as fast as possible, but this rain is ruining the traffic.
Finally getting, we missed her just as the elevator door closes.
*a few minutes later *
Getting in front of her apartment there’s police yellow tape with the door cracked open.
Jay: *shocks as he enters*
Gray: oh shit
Jay: *finds her sitting on the balcony in the rain zones out* what are you doing in the rain, you’re going to get sick. *pulls her back inside*
I honestly thought it was just the front room, head to her room for a towel, it’s even worst. Everything’s destroyed.
What pisses me off the most is seeing our sign on the wall.   Jay: Who did this?
Lily:…
Jay: This is seriously getting out of hand.
Gray: You still going to wait for the police to handle it?
Jay: I’ve given them enough time to do that.
Gray: What about her?
Jay: I’m not going to leave her here, It’s my fault she’s in this mess in the first place.
Lily: *finally walking inside* Don’t worry about me I’m not your concern
Jay: Emily-
Lily: I’m a cop, that’s part of my job. I signed up for this
Jay: Is destroying evidence part of your job too?
Lily: what?
Jay: The cameras at the club, I know what you did
Lily: Can you just leave? please leave me alone
Jay: So you’re just going to stay here like this?
Lily: Not your concern
I ended up leaving, I know it sounds horrible leaving her like this, but I need to get to the bottom of this as soon as possible
I called a meeting as soon as I get home
Simon: What’s going on?
Jay: I got dragged to the police station today
Simon: What?
Loco: What for?
Jay: Emily’s place got torn today
Simon: Emily?
Jay: The detective
Loco: torn how?
Gray: Like everything in the house is gone, clothes, everything is gone.
Chacha: So what does that have to do with you? or with us?
Jay: Well just like at the banks, they leave our mark behind.
Simon: What?
Jay: I’m not sure what pisses me off the most is if they think that we would go as low as destroying an apartment like that.
Chacha: You think D has something to do with this?
Jay: I don’t know, I guess we’re going to find out.
Loco: You’re going to find him?
Jay: Well he’s not coming to me. *walks upstairs to change*
*One hour later*
Dok2: To what do I owe this visit?
Jay: You know why I’m here
Dok2: *chuckles and takes a sip* If you think I have anything to do with that, you are just as stupid as the person that did it.
Jay:*sigh*
Dok2: Tell me something
Jay: What?
Dok2: Are you upset because your mark was left at the scene? or because of whose house it was?
Jay: What are you talking about?
Dok2: nothing
Jay: I really don’t have time for this *walking away*
Dok2: Did you know she was a cop?
Jay:*stops and then walks out of the house*
*Lily’s views*
Sitting on a pile of what used to be a mattress, I zoned out I don’t actually know what time it is. At least the rain stop.
“Emily”
Lily: Mom?
Mom: *makes her way through the mess and hugs her*
Lily: Mom *bust out crying*
Mom: *hugs her tight* at least you were not in the house.
I guess I’m going to be at my parent’s house for the time being. Getting there My dad is watching the news.
Dad: Your partner ask me to give you this
Lily: Thanks *takes her phone from him, and walk up to her old room*
I am not in the mood to deal with anyone right now. After taking a shower I find some tea and a sandwich on my nightstand, after drinking the tea, I got my blanket and sleep.
*Next day*
I guess I slept through both breakfast and lunch. I checked my phone so many missed calls and text messages form Jaebum. My parents should be on their way back, I want to eat something before they come find me down here.
Made me a sandwich and head up to my room.
*45 minutes later*
*knock on the door*
Lily: Go away
“ I can’t”
Lily: please go
“Come on unlock the door’
Lily: *gets up and open the door, greets with a tight hug*
“I miss you so much”
Lily: Emma get off of me
Em: I haven’t seen you in 6 months
Lily: That is my fault how?
Em: I swear you are the grumpiest little sister ever
Lily:*hugs her back*
Em: how are you?
Lily: I’ve had better
Em: Wanna talk about it?
Lily: How are you?
Em: I’m good, Just enjoying life
Lily: At least one of us is
Em: Look I know that you like to keep everything to yourself, which I don’t really blame you, being a police and all, but if you need me just know that I’m here.
Lily: I know, I’ll keep that in mind.
Em: That’s your way of telling me to get out?
Lily: Yup
*Next couple of weeks*
I spent the past couple of weeks inside, no phone, all I did is workout and sleep.
Lily: You’ve been oddly busy
Em: I have a job
Lily: I know you work a 9-5 job, that’s only two days a week. The rest of the time you work at home. The same car been picking you up every night for the past six days every time dad’s light goes out and not back until 30 minutes before he wakes up.
Em: you need to go back to work
Lily: Who is he?
Em: He’s an engineer I met at the bar
Lily: That’s unlike you
Em: I know, but hey we’re going to dinner tonight you should come along
Lily: Thanks but no thanks
Em: come on, you’ve been stuck in this house for almost a month, you need some sunlight
Lily: You’re going out to dinner, it’s going to be at night
Em: Well you need fresh air
Lily: Again no thank you
Em: Why are you so stubborn *phone rings* Hello
“Hey, did I wake you?”
Em: No, I was just finishing a few things for work, what’s up?
“I wanted to talk to you about tonight”
Em: okay
“ I know I said that it was going to be just the two of us-”
Em: Actually I kind of wanted to talk to you about that, I was going to call you
“okay”
Em: Is it okay if I bring my little sister with me?
“Of course, and a few of my friends want to meet you as well, so I think that’s perfect”
Em: Okay, then I’ll see you in a bit. *hangs up*
Lily: I never said that I was going
Em: I know. Go start getting ready, your hair is long and greasy so make sure you wash your hair, it’s going to take you a minute to get ready.
Lily: Uh?
Em: Why are you still standing here?
*3hours later*
Lily: *wearing a black sheer top and black bra, with a bodycon leather skirt, red lipstick, and a thick black winged liner*
Em: Wow, I’d be jealous if you weren’t my sister.
Lily:*sigh* Do I really have to go?
Em: Yes
*Jay’s Views*
It’s been almost a month since I saw Emily. I call her phone, send her messages she never respond.
Simon: How do I look?
Jay: Like an idiot
Simon: Very supportive of you
Jay: You’re welcome *pouring more alcohol in his glass*
Simon: Can you stop with the drinks already?
*a few minutes later*
Loco: Wow you look uh
Gray: Very stupid
Jay: See, I told you
Chacha: You guys are talking about how he looks, I just wanna see what that mysterious girls look like.
Simon: She sent me a text, saying she’ll be here in a few minutes. Please be on your best behavior I really like this girl, and she said that she would bring her little sister I want to make a good impression.
Gray: Don’t worry We’ll put in a good word for you.
“She’s here”
Simon: Okay, send them up
Jay: Can you act natural? you look too stiff
Simon: How can I relax, when you’re already drunk? and I have no faith in the rest of you.
Loco: Wow
Gray: After everything we’ve been through?
Chacha: That’s how you feel?
Jay: Can you Just chill, we won’t tell her how many women you’ve-
Simon: Hi
Oh Shit
Em: Hey, This is my little sister Emily
Gray: *mumbles* oh shit
Simon: Hey… Emily nice to meet you
Lily: *raise her brow* Nice to meet you too, Simon
Simon: These are my friends, Gray, Loco, Chacha, and that’s Jay
Lily: Hi guys
Em: Oh I forget the wine in the car, I’ll go get it
Lily: I’ll go with you
Em: Okay, We’ll be back
Simon: okay
*both walk out*
Loco: And you were worried about us?
Simon: Just shut up, you good man?
Jay: I’m fine
Gray: Think she’ll say anything?
*moments later*
Em: Hey, sorry we take a while.
Simon: It’s okay, You look very beautiful tonight
Em: Thank you, You don’t look too bad yourself.
Simon: *smile* come on have a seat
Em: Okay
Lily: *sits across from Jay and crosses her legs*
Em: *Notices everyone looking at her a gun strap under he short skirt* I’m sorry about that guys, she’s a detective, just a bad working habit
Simon: Oh, okay then
Lily: So it’s Simon right?
Simon: yeah
Lily: how long have you guys known each other?
Simon: We all kind of grow up together
Lily: What kind of work do you do? Emma said that you are an engineer?
Simon: Well I-
Em: Emily you’re not at work stop questioning him, I’m sorry about that.
Simon: It’s okay I understand
The entire night I barely say a word all I can think about is how much I’ve missed this girl. She kept her cool, and never said anything about what she knows. Right now sitting around the pool talking. Well Emily, Simon, and Emma are together
Lily: Excuse me
Em: Hey you okay?
Lily: Yeah, I just think you guys need some time alone, to make out or something so I’ll just excuse myself, and no offense you guys are kind of boring. *walks away*
Em: I’m really sorry about that. My sister is going through a lot right now, she’s not really herself
Simon: That’s okay, you don’t have to apologize I understand
*meanwhile*
Lily: You should ease up on the drinks *sit next to him*
Jay: It’s my last one
Lily: Obviously you finish the whole bottle
Jay:*stares at her*
Lily: What?
Jay: You know you could’ve at least read one of the hundred messages that I sent you, you know just to make sure that you are okay.
Lily: What have you been up to?
Jay: There isn’t much I can do, I can’t fly out of the country, I want to get away from all of this as soon as possible but all I can do is stay home half of the time, I want this shit to be over with already. How are you holding up?
Lily: healing
Jay: Have you had a chance to go to your apartment?
Lily: This is the first time I get out of my house
Jay: No wonder you look so pale
Lily: Thanks…Jerk
Jay: *Chuckles*
Lily: Funny
Jay: I’m sorry
Lily: It’s whatever. I still have a couple months on my lease so I guess I’ll go over tomorrow to see if there’s anything left, which I highly doubt since the doors and windows were broken, people probably swap whatever they can.
Jay: Maybe not
Lily: Mhm? how do you know?
Jay: Just a feeling
Lily: *exhales and look up at the sky* I wish I could live somewhere with the sky view, very peaceful with little to no one knowing where I live.
Jay: really?
Lily: yeah, with every room a different color. Actually no, I want white, everything white
Jay: wouldn’t it be too bright?
Lily: True but after a long day of chasing bad guys, getting my ass beat, and who knows maybe get shot, I’ll have my own little paradise on earth.
I’m sitting here listening to her talking, it feels like it’s the first time she’s actually talking to me like a normal person, and not just a cop and a thief.
Jay: What if it rains?
Lily: ooh that’d be even  cooler to watch rain falls, lightning, and thunder *giggles*
Jay: you know that actually don’t sound like a bad idea
Lily: I know right- hey if you steal my idea-
Jay: What you gonna shoot me? you know everything that’s  going on, it probably wouldn’t hurt that bad, if I get shot by you.
Lily: what is wrong with you?
Jay: I don’t know, I tend to say lose my sense whenever you’re around.
Lily: I’m pretty sure you have that feeling whenever any female is around
Jay: how do you know?
Lily: Well, I know your kind
Jay: My Kind?
Lily: yes, your kind. The rich pretty boy slash gangster, well tatted in great shape that all the girls swoon over. Wherever he goes, he has all the ladies attention even the ones who are with their partners, which you’re totally happy about because you love having a bunch of them on your bed.
Jay: Okay, here’s a few things-
Em: Hey, did I interrupt anything?
Lily: uhm not really you ready to go?
Em: yes
Lily: okay *get’s up*
Em: You’re driving
Lily: I thought you didn’t want me to drive?
Em: Yes, but we have to get home before your dad start interrogating me
Lily: and you think, he’d let me get away?
Em: Lily you know how to lie, you’re a cop. Which brings it back to the reason you’re driving cause if we get a ticket I can’t lie.
Lily: you sure you’re older than me?
Em: By three years
Lily: Well then hand me the keys
Em: Well it was nice meeting you guys, come on Lily
Lily: um I need to use the bathroom you can go wait for me in the car
Em: Okay, don’t stay long *walks out to the car*
*after*
Simon: Listen-
Lily: No you listen, you see the only reason I’m not going to say anything to my sister is that I want you to tell her yourself. Now if anything happens to my sister I know where you live *takes her gun out*
Gray: hey what are you doing?
Lily:*unload two bullets out of it and hand him one* If anything happens to my sister, I’ll bring this one back to you, and this time I’ll unload it in your head.
Is it wrong that I am so turned on right now?
Lily: *looks at Jay* You doing anything tomorrow?
Jay: not really, why?
Lily: *smile*  Have a good night guys
Jay: wait.
Lily: *walks out to the car*
Why did she even asked me that?
*follows her out*

Ink is Thicker Than Water --- Chapter 1: I predict a riot
SQUID SISTERS: FOUND ALIVE! Callie and Marie were found at 1:00AM at inkpolis plaza fallowing the attack of the mechanized weapon upon the city. The sisters were relocated to a hospital where they are in stable condition. They were unavailable for comment, but it has been suggested that they may return to work by the end of the week.
OCTARIANS EXIST, BUT FOR HOW MUCH LONGER?
Shortly after the terror ended, police were approached by an anonymous Octarian official who requested aid in the unearthing of roughly 160,000 individuals from a devastating cave-in. The cave-in is thought to hold about one quarter of the entire species' population, and the course of action as of yet is unknown. The Octarian official was detained; and was unavailable for comment.
OCTARIAN LEADER IN CRITICAL CONDITION
At 1:45; the Mustard Hill Hospital admitted an Octoling who was later discovered to be the Octarian Queen; Master of Ceremonies Ophelia Lunulata. When admitted she was found to have many of her organs filled with ink, though without any internal bleeding. Suspicions rise that it may not even be her ink at all, however DNA results have yet to return. She has yet to awaken, and the cause of her injuries is unknown. Doctors believe that if she does not recover somewhat within 48 hours she may pass away within the week.
It was a few days after what people were calling ‘the attack’, ‘doomsday’, and many other fitting and exciting titles which sounded as though they were out of some sort of movie, and Bato was sitting at the dining table, watching his mothers in the kitchen doing the dishes.
He’d felt so helpless lately, what with his leg in the shape that it was, Hachi was far away, and he wasn’t sure if she was alright. These worries, mingled with Stacey’s offer to become an agent, overwhelmed him. He’d barely been able to sleep at night.
Just then across from him his mother’s phone began to ring, and he was unable to help getting his hopes up as he pulled the phone over and looked at the number. “Mom! It’s an unknown number, can I answer it? It might be Hachi!”
“Okay sweetie, go ahead!” She called over her shoulder.
He nodded his thanks, then lifted the phone to his ear and cleared his throat. “Ahem, Euthis residence, how can I--”
“B-Baaaatooooo!”
He froze, eyes suddenly brimming with tears. “Hachi!” He exclaimed. “Are you okay? How are you!?”
“Bato, Bato they...” She sobbed. “They’re beating us and killing us!”
"They're.. they're what!?" He demanded, attempting to stand, but then falling back into his seat with a wince.
"Th-They were beating us, but now they're k-killing us!!!” She explained. “They keep detaining more and more o-octolings, and the guards hurt u-us for any reason they could, but l-last night they killed one of us, and I don’t think it’s going to-to stop!”
“Hang on.” He said, then pulled the phone away from his ear long enough to shout; “MOM! Get ready to leave!”
“Got it!” She called, then sprinted around the corner and toward the hall, Tanya on her heels.
“B-Bato, they started blaming the other prisoners, the real prisoners, the murderers and thieves and worse, but even they think what’s happening is wr.. is wrong...”
“And they’re right.” He said firmly. “We’re coming, we’re going to get you out of there.”
“H-Hurry.” She said. “I-I managed to get a guard’s phone, and… and the other prisoners are going to break our form stabilizers off, and then throw us over the wall. I’m not going to get far!”
“Stepmom!” He called. “I need help getting to th--”
“Is ‘Achi ‘urt?” Oz interrupted.
He yelped and turned to see the elite octoling right at his side, gaze firm and unyielding. “… She’s in trouble.” He replied. Sometimes he’d forgotten that Oz was still living here, in the past few days he’d taken to moping on the couch for hours on end.
Evidently now was not one of those times. In a flash, Oz had grabbed his arm and hoisted him to his feet, taking care to support his bad leg. “Ya ain’t goin’ witout me.”
“… Okay.” Bato agreed, beginning to limp toward the entryway.
“Bato?” Hachi asked. “Bato do I hear Oz?”
“Yeah.” He replied. “He’s coming too. We’re all coming to get you. We… We’ll...”
She sniffled loudly. “B-Bato, I have to go. William s-says this place is ‘Wolfe Jail’. P-Please hurry...”
“Wolfe Jail, got it.” He said. “W-Wait, who’s William?”
“One of the prisoners.” She explained. “… B-Bato, you’re my best friend, and… and… I don’t know what I would have done without you.”
His breath caught. "... Y-you've been a great friend too." He stammered, then cringed as the phone beeped in his ear. ‘Call ended 4:07’ “Shit...”
Leah came around the corner, slipping on her jacket. “I’ve got the keys, where are we going?”
“Wolfe jail.” He said, handing her phone back to her.
“’Ow’re we gettin’ there?” Oz asked.
“Oh not this again with the car thing...” Tanya gently bemoaned as she stepped up with her 52. Gal. “Just don’t… worry about it, maybe you should just stay here, we can explain when we get back.”
“Nah, ya can’t talk me outta it.” He said firmly. “’Sides, someone’s gotta carry this dead weight.” He continued, then scooped Bato up in his arms with a grunt.
“H-Hey!” He yelped. “Careful!”
“We don’t have time to argue.” Leah decided as she flung open the front door. “Sweetie, can you explain what’s going on on the ride over?”
“Yeah.” He said, wrapping his arms around Oz to keep himself from slipping. “Stepmom, can you navigate?”
“On it.” She agreed, taking point as they raced downstairs and piled into their car.
The drive was frantic and full of explanations. Bato filled his mothers and Oz in on what Hachi had told him, about how much danger she’d been in, then talked to Oz about how cars worked, and about why he should buckle his seatbelt.
“Tha ‘seat belt’ chafes.” He complained. “Do I really gotta wear it?”
“Yes, it’s to keep you safe just in case we crash.” Tanya said.
“Tha’s a fuckin’ option?” He realized with a brief note of panic.
“Wait, look!” Bato exclaimed and pointed out the window. Down the sidewalk an octoling was running as fast as they could, tentacles streaming out behind them. “We have to be close.”
“Take a left turn!” Tanya said, and the car swerved into the turn lane to make it before the light changed.
Ahead of them a long low building stretched, surrounded by multiple layers of barbed fences, which weren’t stopping streaks of purple from hurling over the walls. Octoling after Octoling landed and started running. All of them looked exhausted, battered, bruised. It made Bato’s stomach churn.
“They don’t look so good...” Leah murmured, her grip on the steering wheel tightening. “C’mon sweetie, please be alright...”
Another purple streak shot though the sky, but this one was… lower. An octopus landed, and reverted to humanoid form, chest heaving with heavy breaths, tentacles torn and mangled. “There! I see her!” Bato exclaimed, rolling down his window. “HACHI!” He shouted.
She looked up at the shout, and started limping toward them as the car pulled to a stop. Bato flung open the door, and then his arms as he pulled her into an embrace. She shuddered and sobbed as they held each other tight, and Bato felt his own eyes brim with tears. “It’s okay…” He breathed. “It’s okay, I got you...”
“Close the door and buckle up kids, we’re going home.” Tanya said, looking over her shoulder.
Hachi looked up, then wiped her eyes and sat down in the middle seat. “Thank you...”
“Of course we’d come get you.” Bato said as he closed the door.
“Alright, let’s go.” Leah said as she started to turn the car around.
“WAI, STOP!” Oz shouted.
Leah instinctively slammed on the brakes, causing everyone to lurch in their seats.
"OW!" Bato yelped. "What!?"
Oz flung open the door and leaned outside, tentacles gripping the frame. “OANA! OANA GET IN ‘ERE! QUICK!”
There was a moment’s hesitation, and then a blur of movement as an octoling dove headfirst into the car, and Oz slammed the door shut behind them. “Okay, ya can go now.”
“OW!” Hachi yelped, pulling back as Oana fell on her knees. “… Hey Oana.”
“Hello traitor.” A tingle went down Bato’s spine as Oana propped herself up, and her eyes met his. He remembered her, from the science facility in the domes. She worked security, but this was the first time he’d seen her face. She had sharp eyes, the color of cold steel, which bore into him as she assessed him. “… I’ve met you...” She said.
"Indeed we have." He grimaced. “You two know her?”
“She does some a tha drills for tha barracks.” Oz said.
Oana turned, then looked him up and down. “… Do I know you?”
Oz frowned a little. “Oz. Oswald Croft? Tha… Ya know, tha lovable… goof?”
“… Oh… You.” She grimaced.
“Oana was it?” Tanya said. “Please sit down, it’s safer that way.”
Hachi scooted a bit closer to Bato and patted the empty space next to her. “So what did I miss?” She asked.
Oana swooped her tentacles and sat down in the empty space, leaving the entire backseat awfully cramped.
"1&2 are both still alive." Bato said. "And Ophelia woke up briefly, but they're still don't know for sure if she's going to recover or not."
“Ophelia might be okay?” Oana asked abruptly, sitting up straighter.
“Well, not yet.” Oz said. “Apparently she’s been through a lot. But ‘ey, ‘migh not make it’ is better than ‘is dead’.”
Hachi frowned. “… I don’t know, is it? All of this is her fault…”
“Of course you’d like it if she died, you traitor, our queen means nothing to you.” Oana huffed.
Hachi gripped Bato’s hand, and he held it back, giving her a compassionate look.
After a long pause, Oana continued. “Where are you taking me?”
“These squidlin’s ‘ave been keepin’ me safe from tha pryin eyes a tha police.” Oz said. “Since Ophelia’s shut down, nobody’s protectin’ us from em, so we gotta ‘ide out where it’s safe. Fer us, tha’s this squidlin’s ‘ouse.”
“They smell awful.” Oana concluded.
“They really do.” Oz agreed.
“… Oana, I know you’re hurt too.” Hachi said after a moment. “Tanya can take a look at our wounds, she’s been trained, she knows what to do.”
“Tanya?” She asked.
“That’s me.” Tanya said, raising her hand.
“She makes good food.” Hachi added.
“A chef /and/ a medic?” Oana asked skeptically.
“My stepmother is a jack of many trades.” Bato said.
“Step… mother?” She asked.
“Here we go again...” Tanya sighed, and got to explaining.
“Welcome home Hachi.” Leah said as she opened the front door, stepping aside to usher everyone inside.
“Thank you Leah.” She replied, smiling from ear to ear.
Bato chuckled and leaned on her for a bit more support, his leg was killing him. “H-Hachi, can you get me to the couch…?”
“Oh, yeah, sure.” She said, helping him toward the living room.
“Ugh, this place smells even worse.” Oana said, wrinkling her nose as she crossed the threshold. “Shift after shift of squid stink… A cacophony to the nose.”
“You’ll get used to it, I’m sure.” Leah said. “I’ll go get the first aid kit, you all get settled in.”
“Gladly.” Oana said sarcastically.
“Ya’ll get used ta it.” Oz said, flopping into the armchair and propping his legs up on the armrest.
“You seem to have perked right up...” Bato commented as he left himself sink into the couch.
He paused. “Well, now I ain’t alone in this shitty place.” He said. “I got ‘Achi an Oana ta keep me company.”
“… Sure.” Oana said, apprehensively sitting down on the couch.
“Got the first aid kit.” Leah announced, handing the plastic container off to Tanya.
“Good, Hachi, let’s get you fixed up.” Tanya said, kneeling down in front of the couch, which only a slight cringe.
Hachi paused, then turned in her seat and lifted up her shirt. “The cut on my back popped again...”
“Again!?” Bato asked, sitting up. “You still have that!?”
“It’s hard not to when stuff keeps hurting me...” She grimaced. “I’m so lucky it’s not infected… I think.”
"Someone is going to answer for this..." Tanya muttered as she began to clean the wound.
“As much as I would love that, I have a more pressing question.” Hachi said. “… Do we have Oranges? I’m starving.”
Leah blinked, then laughed. “Yes, yes we do, I’ll go get some sweetie.”
“Thank you!” Hachi smiled.
“Wait wait wait...” Oana said. “How do you just… have food?”
"We don't get our food on a day-by-day basis--or, shift-by-shift," Bato explained.
"Then how /do/ you get it?" Oana asked.
"We buy it." Tanya explained as she moved to treat a cut on Hachi’s shoulder. "From markets and such?"
"Um.. They don't have a currency system down there, Stepmom." Bato said quietly. "Or markets."
"Who is mark-it?" Oana asked.
"It's not a 'who'," Bato explained, "A market is a building where they keep lots of different kinds of food, and inklings can go into these buildings and exchange our currency for that food; that's why we can have several days worth of food in the house at once."
"Doesn't it go bad just laying around?" She grimaced.
"Some of it does." He replied with a small shrug, "But we have ways of keeping it good longer."
“Alright Hachi, here’s the oranges, all nice and peeled.” Leah said, coming back in with a small plate, piled high with orange slices.
“Thank you…!” She said, immediately digging in.
Tanya chuckled. “Okay, I think I got all of them, let me know if they get worse, and take it easy, alright? You’re safe now.”
“And thank you too.” She said around an orange slice.
She just chuckled again and moved on to help Oana.
Bato smiled as he surveyed the room. The atmosphere in here had become so much more relaxed than before. Hachi was home, Oz was lounging, Leah was sitting at the kitchen table and watching with a smile on her face, Oana was… here, and he hardly knew her, but she didn’t seem harmful, just.. confused, and passionate about her people and queen, as she had every right to be. He glanced back at Hachi, enjoying her food, and basked in how happy he was that she was safe. She was home.
“Hey Hachi?” He said. “I’m going to go on Skope and tell the others that you’re okay. Want to hang out in my room with me?”
She looked up, then nodded, mouth full of orange.
He smiled at her, then looked down at his leg. “… I’ll hold your oranges if you help me get there.”
She swallowed, then held out the plate. “Deal.”
He wrapped his arm around her shoulders, and stood, limping down the hallway while Hachi supported him the best she could. She wasn’t too much better off than him he realized, but they would both heal. It would be okay.
Together they entered his room, and carefully sat down on his bed. “Have I said how good it is that you’re back yet?” He asked.
She chuckled and nodded, leaning back against the wall. “Thank you for saying it again. I felt so alone, even though Oana was there.”
“You actually know her?” He asked, gingerly pulling his laptop onto his lap.”I thought she just recognized you from… well… Stuff.”
She sighed and closed her eyes. “We were childhood friends, but she was the child of another elite and after a while she started to act superior to me… and well, yeah. I guess now we don’t get along.”
“I’m sorry to hear that.” He said, booting up his laptop. “If you want to make amends, you could try while she’s here.”
“… We’ll see.” She replied.
“That’s fair.” He said, then booted up Skope. Immediately he was bombarded with notifications from his squad’s chat. He opened it and found that Simon and Toda were talking quite a lot.
S: Jill says she might come on, but she wants a little time to herself too, which I totally get.
T: yeah, absoltly
B: Hey you two.
S: Bato, there you are.
S: Take a look at this.
S: [link]
He frowned and clicked on the link, which took him to a local news site. They already had a page about the prison break that they’d just been at… and sort of helped with. Apparently Hachi and Oana had been lucky, as the prison reported that ‘octolings had been killed in the riot’, and claimed no octolings managed to get away. However, the cameras in the facility were allegedly and conveniently broken. He grimaced and got back to the chat.
B: I was there.
S: Something tells me this is only the beginning.
S: Wait what
T: Wat
B: Hachi was there
B: She called my Mom right before it happened.
S: Oh no is she dead?
B: No, she's not
B: They lied about that in the article
B: She's alive
B: She's here
T: thnk judd
B: Yeah
B: We found her and another Octoling, one named Oana
T: dd they see u?
B: We don't know
S: You picked up another Octoling? Is she trouble? Does she know who we are?
B: She knows who I am; she recognized me from when I was down in the domes
B: I don't know if she would know about you three
S: I'd ask if we can trust her, but I'm not sure how much I trust your capacity to trust people.
B: Yeah, no, I understand
B: ... Though I'm not entirely sure either, to be honest.
"... Do you think we can trust Oana?" He asked Hachi, glancing at her again.
Hachi gave a long pause, then sighed. "... I'm... I don't know... She sounds loyal to Ophelia, which means that she’s not on my side. Don’t get me wrong though… I’m glad Oz picked her up, I wouldn’t want her to die… You know, I’m a little surprised he came with you guys to come get me.”
“He missed you a lot, even though he… knows you killed Orion.” He admitted. “I tried to lie and say I did it so he wouldn’t be mad at you but… I was tired and slipped up.”
She paused. “… He really cares about me, huh?”
“… Yeah, I think he does.” He agreed. “Maybe he can help you keep Oana safe.”
She nodded. “That’s a good idea.”
He nodded, then looked back at the computer.
S: ... Looking back, you said she was alive. Is she ok?
B: ... She's hurt.
B: They've been beating the Octolings they had detained
B: And they recently started killing them, and blaming it on the other prisoners.
T: siht...
T: that explans the 'broken camras'
B: That's why there was a riot, it was a distraction
B: Some of the prisoners were throwing Octolings over the prison walls so they could escape
S: That's just wrong.
S: This is all just wrong.
S: I don’t care what happened to us, this is real fucked up.
B: Yeah...
B: I don't know how many others managed to get away
B: None of them looked very good though...
S: if we werent so deeply involved I would say we go and make sure it doesn't happen again
S: but... We're in way too deep. Who knows what would happen if people found out everything we've done the past few weeks.
B: I almost don't care, to be honest... but you're right.
B: We're sort of stuck right now
T: cold we talk 2 the aegents?
B: I'm not sure if they're really in any position to do much right now either
B: Or condition.
S: if we don't want to draw attention to ourselves we should keep our activism for their rights at a minimum.
S: I don't like it, but we can't get dragged into this.
S: and we're not in much better condition either.
Bato sighed aloud.
B: Yeah, you're right...
T: yeah...
"What?" Hachi asked him.
He shook his head a little, "I just wish there was something we could do for the other Octolings too, this is all so wrong... But as it is, we're pretty stuck right now."
"... You're helping me, and Oana. And Oz... You’re probably way above average in this city.” She said. “Maybe I can still live a moderately long life before they find me.”
"They won't find you." He said firmly. "And if they do, we won't let them hurt you, or take you again."
"... Thanks for trying to be comforting." She said with a sigh. "I don't really believe that though. I wouldn't let anybody hurt you while trying to get to me..."
He glanced at her again, frowning a little. "I'm not going to let them get to you. Whether I get hurt or not."
"Fine, then we'll have to fight them together." She replied.
He paused, then slowly nodded. "... Together."
S: People are -still- trying to get in to interview with Callie and Marie in the hospital seriously just leave them alone.
T: good rgief
B: Can't say I'm surprised... but yeah, they need to recover.
B: ... But Speaking of the agents...
T: yea?
B: I was talking with 3 after we got back that night, and she was talking about how her job was going to change
B: How it would still be about protecting the people, though the difference would be /which/ people.
B: I told her I wanted to help them, once I could walk normally again
B: She didn't seem opposed to the idea, but she wanted me to really think about it first, and to talk with you guys about it.
S: Weren't we... just talking about something...
S: Something about being too involved in things?
S: Like just today, and almost two weeks ago.
S: Is it pointless for me to even try
B: I'm not saying anything for sure, it was just an idea
B: She did talk about how I might not be able to go back once I started, it was part of why she wanted me to think about it.
B: But... I do still want to help
B: Especially after what happened this morning.
S: So you want to be a vigilante.
B: Yeah, I guess I do.
S: It's not going to be like the movies.
S: You're going to get yourself killed.
B: The past week and a half has presented the danger just about as well as anything could; believe me, I know the risks.
S: And you're going to jump right back in
S: Do you understand how crazy you sound?
B: They're killing them, Simon.
B: And it's not like they're all more Orions, there are Octolings just as innocent as anyone up here on the surface
S: I
S: ... Stacey would still have your back, right?
B: The way she talked about it, it sounded like she still intended to do her Agent work
B: So, yeah, I'm pretty sure she would.
"You want to be a Siren?"
He blinked and looked up, seeing Hachi reading over his shoulder. “… Yeah, I do.”
"... I'll get you a mask." She said. "No, I'll /make/ you a mask. There’s tech in there that would help you out there on the field."
"Make one?" He asked in disbelief.
"Yeah. It's not like I'm just going to be able to pull one out of thin air, and I want you to have the best! Something worthy of an Elite!" She said with a grin. "Isn't that practically what the Sirens are?"
"Yeah, I suppose they are," He agreed with a smile.
Hachi gave a sigh. "Ah Elites. Snotty little bossy-pants that are good at what they do."
Bato chuckled a bit. "Indeed."
"Hm..." Hachi paused. "When I put it like that there's no doubt that's what the Sirens are."
Bato considered it, then shrugged a bit. "I guess so." Then frowned as more messages popped up on screen.
S: Plawse fjon't do it
S: Listen too EM
T: simon?
B: Simon...
S: If you doit Jill’s goin to wantto and
B: ... It's not a for sure thing, Simon.
B: It's just talk right now.
T: nd tehy mihgt sat no ven f we d dcid 2
T: jsut cause 3 sida yes dsoent mean 1 nd 2 wil
Bato sat back and sighed as a ‘Simon is typing’ message popped up and lingered for a while. Maybe he should have just gone behind their back and accepted Stacey’s offer without telling them. Then they all wouldn’t worry.
S: Look, unless things escalate even further... just leave it alone for a month. Please.
S: It's too soon.
B: Okay. We'll leave it alone for now.
B: We still need time to recover from all of this, and it's a big thing to talk about.
B: You're right, it's far too soon.
S: Thank you.
“Screens above, make up your mind!” Hachi said. “Are you going to do it, or not?”
He paused. "I'm going to do it; just as soon as I can walk normally again, I'm going to contact either Stacey or Callie, and ask to become an agent. But I'm not going to ask the others to do it with me."
Hachi thought this over. "... Hm... That means I still get to make you a mask, right?"
He smiled. "If you still want to."
"Pfft, to be honest I was going to make you one before you said you were going to be a Siren, you're stuck with it." She smirked.
He chuckled. "Well, if you insist." He said jokingly.
"Ok, first off, do you have gigabytes and megabytes and stuff? Is that how memory is stored on computers up here?" Hachi asked.
"Yup." He nodded. "That's how it's stored up here."
"Ok good!" She said, sitting up and getting into geek mode. "One terrabyte should do it for at least your first mask, and everything you'd put on it over time! We're also going to need steel plating, would that crabby friend of yours be willing to let some go you think? I think I saw some underground. Right, and copper wire-"
He smiled and propped himself up on his pillow as he listened to her and gave her feedback on what he’d like. She was so passionate about this, so excited. He felt lucky to be a part of it.

Birthday request || October 24th with Jihoon
Tumblr media
You were woken up by your ringtone quite early morning. You groaned and looked at your bedside table’s alarm clock. It was six in the morning, the first rays of sunshine found their way through your blinders and dimly lit up the room. You turned on your side and picked up your phone. The screen blinded you as your eyes were not yet adapted to the light. You squinted your eyes to read the caller id and your heartbeat got faster as you saw your boyfriend’s name on display.
“Hello?” You replied with your voice still hoarse and tired due to the early wake up call.
“Oh, did I wake you up? I didn’t mean to I’m sorry.” Your boyfriend apologized and you could hear the bustling crowd in the background.
“No it is alright. What is up? Where are you?” You asked turning around in bed and lifting up the hem of your shirt to your nose. You breathed in the familiar scent of Jihoon which filled your heart with warmth. He left his shirt for you before leaving for tour so you will never feel alone. You missed him a lot but he kept messaging you in free seconds of his busy schedules from the other part of the world and he called you every now and then but it was nothing compared with him being by your side, holding your hand, kissing your knuckles and playing with your hair.
“I’m at the airport waiting for our flight. I can’t wait to see you again! I decided to call you so at least I can hear your voice but I forgot about time zones.” He said and you could hear someone awing in the background and then a thud followed by a loud ‘ouch’. “Mingyu is driving me crazy.” He sighed and you chuckled a little.
“When will you get home?” You questioned while imagining Mingyu’s pouty face as he is rubbing his arm where Jihoon hit him. Jihoon was one of the most romantic people you have ever known but whenever the guys mentioned it he tried to act thug. However, when it was the two of you he didn’t try to hide it rather he acted like it was the most natural thing in the world. Sometimes he did get a little shy when you complimented him but you found it the most adorable thing about him. He usually smiled with his eyes and looked down avoiding your gaze before taking a deep breath and coming up with a fresh new topic.
“Late afternoon, so don’t make any plans.” He said and you could hear the hint of happiness in his voice. You smiled to yourself. You have been counting down the days ever since he left and it is unbelievable that he is already coming home.
“I can’t wait.” You yawned and rubbed your eyes.
“I will let you sleep.” Jihoon chuckled. “See you soon, I love you.” He whispered so the guys don’t hear it but from the muffled laughter you guessed they heard him pretty loud and clear.
“I love you too, oh and Jihoon?” You stopped him before hanging up. “Don’t kill them, okay? I don’t want to get you out of jail.” You joked and he laughed on the other end.
“I can’t promise anything.” He joked too and you could only imagine how scared the others might have looked. “Sleep well.” He said and with your final goodbyes you hung up.
You fell asleep with a wide smile on your face but the excitement soon woke you up. Not being able to fall asleep again you got out of bed and decided to surprise Jihoon with something. You walked into the kitchen to cook dinner for the two of you. You tiptoed around to reach the shelves and you wished Jihoon would be there to help you out. Not because he was that tall, but he was still taller than you and he often lifted you up if you two needed something from the shelf. Now that he wasn’t there you needed to climb on the counter to reach the top shelf and that quite took a long time.
As you were busy cooking and trying not to burn down your own house you didn’t even sense the passing of the time and the weather’s change with that. As it was the middle of autumn the weather changed in a blink and today was no different. When you started cooking the sun was still shining and there was a soft warm breeze, but when you finally finished preparing a three course dinner and looked up the sun almost disappeared from the sky. Huge grey clouds were gathering and the soft breeze grew into a strong wind making the trees sway and the leaves fall faster.
You washed the plates and set the table quietly humming Laughter by Seventeen. As you were swaying slowly you heard the first drop of rain fall on your windowsill. You looked out the window and you saw the sun behind the clouds trying to break through. The wind slowed down and from what felt like will turn into a thunder storm might only be just a light shower. You leaned on the windowsill and your breath formed a cloud on the glass. You happily scribbled mountains, birds, hearts and whatever popped into your head on the glass.
You were wearing comfortable clothes, a pair of trousers, fluffy socks and Jihoon’s sweater that he also left there for you to wear and it was one of your favorite pieces to wear. You wore it every day ever since he left and you had no intention of giving it back. Whenever the two of you were facetiming Jihoon got so red when he saw you wearing his sweater. You were even thinking of wearing it outside but you always forced yourself to dress up properly. As you were deep in your thoughts listening to the calming sound of raindrops a loud ring pushed you out of your wandering. Your heart started to beat faster and your smile widened as you ran down the stairs towards the front door.
You quickly tore open the door but you almost tumbled backwards and fell on your butt because to your surprise what was waiting for you at the door wasn’t Jihoon. Instead there was a huge teddy bear. It was definitely taller than you and it covered the whole entrance. You touched its paw catiously.
“Hello???” You asked after a few seconds trying to peek over the shoulder of the teddy bear.
“Hi Y/N.” Jihoon said from somewhere behind the teddy bear. You stepped away from the door and let him inside. You closed the door behind him and he securely placed the teddy bear down on the floor.
“What is this?” You asked with a breathy laugh as you pointed at the bear.
“Happy birthday baby!” He said quickly planting a kiss on your lips. Your jaw dropped.
“Oh my god… I think I have forgotten that I have my birthday today.” You said lifting your hand over your mouth to shield your surprised expression.
“How could you forget your own birthday?” Jihoon asked a bit taken aback by your confession.
“I think I was so focused on counting the days for your return that I forgot that other dates exist.” You confessed planting your head in the palm of your hands.
“You are… so cute.” Jihoon said and when you looked up he had that same shy smile on his face with his smiling eyes and gaze focused on the floor. You really missed him a lot. “Did you cook something?” He asked smelling the air.
“Yeah I prepared dinner for us.” You said and he took your hand as you walked him up the stairs towards the dining room.
“Really? I told you not to plan anything! Today is your day I should have been preparing all of this.” He scolded you shaking his head.
“Well we can still do something you planned after we eat.” You reassured him and he nodded.
You sat down at the dining table to catch up and chat but most importantly to eat. He shared his experience from the tour, not that you haven’t heard most of it as you two literally talked about every tiny thing every day but it was still nice to hear him talk about it. Whenever he spoke about the tour he was genuinely expressing his emotions and his eyes sparkled that you completely adored about him. He was the same when he found the right beat or melody for a new song.
“So what I thought that maybe we can go to the park where we had our first date?” He asked with a smile but then you heard the thunder from outside. It seems like the weather changed again and now it was raining heavily. You both looked out the window before he sighed and looked back at you. “Or maybe we can stay inside, cuddle and watch movies.”
“I would love that.” You said with a sweet smile. Jihoon helped you and did the washing up while you cleaned the table and prepared the movie. You were looking through your movie shelf when you felt two arms snaking around your waist. Then Jihoon put his head on your shoulder and kissed your cheek. Usually he wasn’t this touchy but whenever he came back from tour he always showered you in kisses and suffocated you with hugs and you never mind that.
“You look great in my sweater.” He said and you smiled at the compliment. “But I will need it back.” He laughed and you shook your head.
“I will keep it forever and there is nothing you can do to stop me.” You replied sticking your tongue out.
“That’s mean… autumn is here and you want your own boyfriend to suffer with no jumper to wear.” He sighed.
“As if you don’t have any more jumpers.” You rolled your eyes and turned around in his arms so that you could face him. “If that is the issue I will buy one for you.”
“It’s alright. I will get over losing my favorite sweater… somehow.” He said dramatically, but clearly joking making both of you laugh. “Besides, it does look better on you.”
“I know.” You replied and he shook his head before kissing you again.
“I really missed you a lot.” He said and kissed your forehead. You snuggled closer to his chest and he started to slow dance you with one side to another while softly humming something that you haven’t heard before. You smiled into his chest knowing that he is probably spoiling their new song to you without even realizing, but there it didn’t matter. What mattered is that he was there with you, and honestly, he was the best present you could have ever asked for.
