donchta hate it when your robotic coworkers that you had a silly crush on get trapped in the unexpected collapse of the place you used to work at, only to have a barely recognizable personality that feels both familiar and like a stranger greet you when you finally manage to get through the rubble later and find them?
idk i think it kinda sucks when that happens personally :/

#edward teach#im an adhd ed truther & this is so fucking true.#also shows how you view people w/ adhd if you’re specifically using it as an excuse to do this. (via @ourflagmeanscatboy on this post by @jaskierx)
I don't want to derail a post about racism, but I do feel like this shit needs to get talked about.
Because people will say literally the most deranged shit about Ed. I've heard the idea that he's gonna lose interest in Stede because he views people as hyperfixations floated. He's volitile and unstable (citation needed) he's messy (but he thinks pets befoul the ship and he couldn't believe he was living like this after letting Stede's cabin get covered in maybe a weeks worth of depression clutter) he needs a minder (despite constantly minding other characters). And all of that shit when pointed out as racist invariably gets explained away with "but I think he has ADHD"
And it's like, first of all that's a headcannon you have, where as his race is very much cannon. so I think even if you have the adhd headcannon, which to be clear, I do, you still need to lend more credence to the marginalized identities that are in fact cannon about him. That's not to say that these two things are contradictory it's just to say that you need to treat your headcannons about a character of color with awareness for how their race overlaps with other identities they might have and how their race might be impacting their behavior, and how projecting issues onto them, even if those issues are things you yourself struggle with, might be perceived by fans of color who are already constantly fielding racism both in fandom and in their every day lives.
but second of all, and I cannot stress this enough, yall are ableist as fuck.
Like, I simply do not know how to explain to you people that Ed losing Interest in Stede like that would not be a symptom of ADHD because treating PEOPLE like HYPERFIXATIONS is not a symptom of ADHD. If someone loses interest in you because they have adhd, and I feel like I've said this before, one of three things happened. A. they did not lose interest in you they are just forgetful and do not experience friendship decay so they think you are still friends, B. You were never a friend to begin with you were someone they exclusively did their hyperfixations with, or C. you are blaming the ADHD for something completely unrelated friendships fall apart all the time.
And it's like that example is just the most egregious. half the time when I see ADHD headcannons nobody's talking about like... Ed picking up a brand new activity on a whim, or him tattooing himself because he's experiencing the evil boredom. It's all gotta be traits contradicted by canon. And often it has to be about pain and suffering, and often it really just feels like an excuse to make up bullshit about Ed while beating the racism allegations.
and there's two enormous issues with this. The first one is that if you're gonna have a headcannon about a character you have to figure out how to apply the headcanon to that character without making up a brand new guy. Ed is in the 99th percentile in terms of executive function. His executive functioning skills are genuinely a strength for him. He can't stand mess and he keeps a clean ship, he doesn't get angry unless directly provoked. He also has a large number of shitty tattoos on his person, he stims, he's probably got some hyperactivity going on, and some emotional dis-regulation in terms of managing his disappointment and catastrophising. You have to actually look at the character and figure out what cannon things translate into ADHD and what adhd traits are contradicted by cannon and if you're just hollowing him out and putting an ablist idea of ADHD in as a stand in for a personality.
Like.. ok. My favoriate cannon ADHD rep in the world is the Percy Jackson series. Every one of those kids has adhd and dyslexia. This does not stop Annabeth from being a very functional character with a million irons in the fire who's an avid reader and a Smart Girl TM. Percy by contrast cannot focus for five seconds especially when you put a book in front of him, but he can think on his feet really well. Both of these characters are fairly realistic representations of ADHD because sometimes ADHD is severe executive dysfunction and mess and emotional dis-regulation, sometimes ADHD is having a million projects going at once in a desperate attempt to beat the evil boredom and sometimes it's being able to pick up new things with relative ease. Different people have different levels of these things, which is why in my favoriate childhood book series Rick Riordan was able to have so many different diverse characters with distinct personalities and have them all believably have ADHD.
But a lot of people who headcannon Ed as ADHD don't seem to be interested in figuring out how Ed's personality is compatible with that headcannon, they just want to hollow him out and give him every symptom ever and it's just like... oh, so that's what you think of us then. got it cool.

Of course this is said from someone who has never seen the show. God forbid folks favorite character, is THE SECOND MAIN CHARACTER AND IN THE TITLE OF THE SHOW.
God forbid abuse survivors find Adrichat’s story relatable and react negatively to people who salt on him for, checks notes, being a rich white boy? Because being rich and white protects you from abuse lol okay
Someone go tell Kesha that the horrific abuse she endured for years doesn’t count because she’s rich and white.
Someone go tell Britney Spears and Amanda Bynes that they deserve their conservatorships because they’re too volitile and emotional and need someone else to control their entire lives. Also they’re rich and white so they should be thankful for their privilege.
Also as a fandom veteran, I’m also baffled that this anon says they’ve never seen fandom go this feral over a white boy so I guess the whole Superwholock thing doesn’t exist in this person’s universe. I’m getting war flashbacks…
I really hope this doesn't come off as rude, but I just have a small request for any anons in the future: if y'all want me to comment on someone else's post, please send it in a separate ask. I just don't want to post someone else's post and start an argument or something.
That being said, I do agree. My detailed thoughts under the cut.
"Adrien stans are white people who get unhinged over a white boy," say the Marinette stans and Marinette stan observers, not realizing that they espouse disgusting abuse apologism on a daily basis and victim blame a character who is a victim of abuse for being traumatized all because he made a few decisions that weren't about Marinette and her well-being alone.
This is ridiculous on so many levels. First the assumption that all Adrien stans are white people. Second, the assumption that we must be Adrien stans because he's a white boy and we don't care about POC characters as much as we do the white ones. Which is actually quite insulting to me.
Maybe these people should actually read what Adrien stans have to say. Maybe they should actually understand why we love Adrien so much. Maybe they should understand why we get so heated over him.
Know what? I'll tell you why. It's because Adrien is despite the writers' best efforts to undermine him an interesting and likeable character. He is a canonical abuse victim, and he struggles with his self-worth and his identity, which is a relatable story to many people. He's an entertaining and interesting character. He's the deuteragonist of the damn show. People are bound to love him. There's more to him than being a white boy and it's very insulting to imply that people obsess over him because he's white or because his fans are white.
And about how Adrien stans get "unhinged" about Adrien and not about other characters... we're literally Adrien stans. Which means Adrien is our favorite character. Naturally, we're going to talk more about him. This is basic common sense. I don't understand the problem here with liking Adrien more than other characters. Are we not allowed to have faves anymore?
And you know why Adrien stans get "unhinged" over him? Because the show treats him badly! Why shouldn't we get mad that a character whom we love is being treated poorly by the writers? Why can't we get heated about that? Marinette stans get heated about their fave being victimized by the narrative all the time, so why is it a crime if Adrien stans get upset if Adrien gets the same treatment? Adrien's story in the show ended with him being reduced to an object and a prop for his girlfriend so that she could side with his abuser and start controlling him instead. Why can't we get angry at that?
Marinette stans will talk about how both Adrien and Marinette are written badly but only Marinette gets criticized and how that's racist and shit, and will ignore the fact that our criticism has nothing to do with race and everything to do with Marinette siding with Gabriel to lie to an abuse victim, and how the show frames this as correct. We criticize Marinette because she's making an awful mistake and doing bad things! This is like, the worst strawman I have ever seen. At some point, it really feels like they are being willfully ignorant.
And about how Adrien stans treat other characters, riddle me this. Who has a proper tag dedicated to bashing them on AO3? Who was the character who was salted on so much when Syren aired? Who was the character being raked over the coals when Chameleon aired? Who was the character who was salted on in Season 4 for breaking a damn fucking chimney? Who was the character whose struggles in Season 4 were overlooked by Marinette stans who criticized him for "being entitled to Ladybug?" Who was the character who was relentlessly salted on whenever he did anything that didn't completely attend to Marinette's needs? Who is the character who was labelled a "sexual harasser?" Who is the character on whom these "fans" rain down their victim blaming and abuse apologia? Who is the character who has the longest history of being salted and bashed by the Marinette stans?
And I will laugh at the audacity of Marinette stans to argue in favor of POC characters and blame Adrien stans for "obsessing over a white boy while not giving the same treatment to characters of color" while their legacy includes salting Alya for not being Marinette's perfect emotional support BFF. Who has their own salt tag apart from Adrien on AO3? Alya does. It's laughable to me that Marinette stans harp on about how Adrien stans prefer the white boy over the POC characters when they spent the better part of the last few years bashing Alya and even devolved into outright racism against her. To say nothing of how they treated Kagami after Frozer dropped.
And these people accuse Adrien stans of showing preferential treatment to white characters? Marinette stans have no leg to stand on when it comes to calling out other people's treatment of POC characters. And I'm not saying that the anon or OP of the post are racist or that they personally contributed to this. But if they are going to make sweeping statements about Adrien stans accusing all of us of going unhinged over a white boy and treating POC characters unfairly, they should maybe take a look inwards at their own community.
Marinette stans have spent years bashing every other character for the smallest perceived slight. Marinette stans created a whole new genre of Miraculous fanfiction dedicated to propping up Marinette like their personal goddess and punishing other characters for not being her devoted slaves. Marinette stans have contributed greatly to the racism in this fandom. Look at all this and tell me: who really seems unhinged here?
So yeah. Ice cold take imo. Also, obligatory disclaimer: Not all Marinette stans are like this! Most of them are nice and sweet, but there are also plenty of bad apples who have been responsible for a lot of toxicity in this fandom.
Thank you for your ask!

How Greif Devours Identity in Hamlet: An Informal Short Essay
Inspired by If We Were Villians, I took it upon myself to freshen up on my Shakespeare. So, last night I finished reading Hamlet for the first time since my freshman year of college! It was a trip to relive all of my old annotations and notes on the play, and to dive back into Shakespeare after such a long time. Thank Folger Shakespeare Library for footnotes!
A few things caught my attention, especially the theme of identity and grief being so intertwined. So let's talk about it for a moment~~
As somone who has experianced a little too much grief in my lifetime, it was cathartic to read Hamlet and appreciate others processing loss. Shakespeare, the master of words and human emotion that he is, has painted the transformative... if not transfiguring... powers of grief on the human mind. This is not exclusive to the character of Hamlet himself, though his madness is the center of the play, but includes all the characters.
Since I have made myself promise this will be a short essay, i'll localize my thoughts on a specific passage:
"Not where he eats, but where he is eaten. A certain convocation of politic worms are e'en at him. Your worm is your only empoeror for diet. We fat all creatures else to fat us, and we fat ourselves for maggots. Your fat king and your lean beggar is but variable service-- two dishes but to one table. That's the end" (Act 4, Scene 3).
So, here's the thing... I took this a little differently than Shakespeare may have intended in this scene. The talk of the "worms" which feast on us when we are dead made me think of The Corpse Bride by Tim Burton.
In Emily's ear is a maggot that acts as her concience. He eats at her mind and replaces her thoughts with his own. I couldn't help but feel that is exactly what grief has done to these characters. Like worms, fattening upon each character, sorrow, revenge, fear, and guilt all crawl into the ears of the court and feast until there is nothing left.
For example, take Hamlet at the end of this play. Hamlet is "not where he eats," which would be an action of taking the King's life and digesting what has happened to his father, but ends "where he is eaten" by the guilt of not being able to override his character and seek revenge on Claudius until the last moment. Try as he might to change the course of fate (hah, get it course lol), the ending remains the same. Which leads to the line "two dishes but to one table."
We see this all throughout the novel as different sets of characters come to the table: Claudius x King Hamlet, Hamlet x Claudius, Hamlet x Mother, Opheilia x Hamlet, Laertes x Hamlet... etc. Even the lesser characters die in pairs like Rosencrantz and Guildenstern. Two lives devoured together at the same table.
I think this is an interesting way of looking at volitile emotions and understanding how people struggle to cope. Grief can eat at you, literally, and it not only leads to a physical deterioration but to a death of self. No matter how clever and careful you are going about it, no matter what reasons you have, acting against one's character will always eat at one's concience. Especially when you look around and see the other people in your life feasting on the same meal at the same table.
So while grief can feel like a worm in our minds, it's also more common among our companions than we see. Too blinded by our own struggles, we let emotions devour our sense of self, and can't see how our behavior reflects and is reflected back to us. We are what we eat, in all senses.
Which is why I think that Hamelt is an exceptional play on how emotions can play (or prey) on us!
Updated edition of the Folger Shakespeare Library edited by Barbara A. Mowat and Paul Werstine used in this essay :)

more poetry(?) i have never known the bounds of what is and isn't poetry i just write
There's an uncomfortable weight in my arms.
It shifts.
My elbows and wrists hurt from trying to hold it.
I can't drop it. I can't put it down.
It doesn't know pain like this yet.
I'm back in my room.
The closet, bare aside from two cribs and a wardrobe, or the room with a pink bedframe and wallpaper, I don't know.
Was there ever a difference?
It opens its eyes, squinting. They're green, a little blue around the edges.
My mother stands behind me.
I don't know where my father is.
She has a hand on my shoulder, and I can feel her breath on my neck.
She's on the other side of the room.
"Be careful. She's fragile."
She'll whisper from nowhere in particular.
Her voice grates my ears and makes me want to hide.
Always from the same place. A chair in the future.
Her warning is ironic.
Telling me, a reckless and volitile teenager, to be careful holding something she herself couldn't be gentle with.
It grows heavier in my arms.
I want to put it down, but it'll cry. It'll cry, and cry, and cry, and we can't do that.
We're not allowed.
It reaches up, for my face.
I have to surpress the flinch.
It giggles, and leaves fingerprints on my glasses.
She pulls at everything she can reach.
My hair- I swear it was shorter than this-
My earrings- Mum never let me wear long ones-
My necklace- An old locket shaped like a mirror, my only gold jewellery-
My shirt- Stretching the collar and pressing its hands against my skin.
Its just over a year old, it can't say anything. Just stares and laughs and cries.
She's curious already. I can see her growing up, nurtured and protected and becoming a scientist, or a musician, or an author. She'll probably have big dreams one day.
"...What's her name?" I whispered.
There's tears in my eyes. She's so small. I feel bad for thinking of her as an 'it' for so long.
She could be so much more than this. I love her more than I could imagine, I could raise her to be kind, and sweet, and good, and I could teach her to be wise, and she could grow strawberries in pretty dresses and never feel scared of the man in the house or the adult she can't bring herself to trust.
My mother speaks from the corner of the room, like she should have done years ago.
"Oh, honey-"
the words have a weird intonation behind them. like they weren't build to be spoken by her.
"-you know her name already. You still look so much like how you did back then."
The baby in my arms begins to cry, like the sound of our mother's blunt honesty was already too much.
I can't help her.
Because this room is too cold, and we're too far away to be saved
and I could never save myself.
There was never any hope for her

I could not live blog my reaction to Dracule Mihawk because of 2 things:
1. I was very high. Like way too much weed. I just yelled at the TV then cried. My husband also was too high. He just laughed at my reaction (affectionate).
2. HE SERVED SO HARD WHAT IS THERE TO SAY?!?!?! Of course this bitch is popular! His boat is a coffin. He sales it sitting with his legs crossed looking so very bored. Hes Goth Daddy and Volitile Materials rolled into one.
Tumblr media
Imagine, if you will, that you are part of the Don Krieg Pirates. Not only did your captain name himself Donald, but he also thought "Ya know what I want to bring to the notoriously difficult to survive place? MORE PEOPLE TO LOOK AFTER". So, ya know, you already deal with that stupid bitch. Then, after you make it to Hard To Live Place, some GOTH DADDY just sails through your fleet AND CUTS ANYTHING IN HIS WAY IN HALF. You didnt even get a chance to move, hes that impatient and also you should have just known he was coming and moved.
So you make it to safety, regroup, and attack a restaurant for food (as ya do). And guess who shows up AGAIN. GOTH DADDY making this face ----> >:-[
NOOOOO NOT THE GIANT SWORD AGAIN!!!!! I would fake my death so fast. My happy ass would be moving back to Syrup Villiage or wherever.

Through the Window Chapter 57 Preview
This chapter was a bit fun to write, and Voldemort finally realises that Marvolo has been added to the harem.
__________
“Hello, Sweetheart.” Marvolo reached out and ruffled Harry’s hair.
“Can I rest here?” Harry yawned again.
“Anyhting, for you.” Marvolo’s face brightened.
Harry walked past Marvolo and into the room. Marvolo met Voldemort’s eyes, and smirked.
Not him as well!
Voldemort walked away, gritting his teeth, and to his own bedroom. He flopped into bed, grabbed a pillow, and screeched into it. His fingers gripped at the pillow tightly, distorting the stuffing within. He screamed for a while, then finally raised his head. His hair was flying everywhere, and redness permeated his face.
His rising… he check his chart… revulsion at the situationw as made worst as he could feel his body heat up. It was different than when the others, more volitile. It made his entire body heated and sensitive, the touch of his clothes suffocating. He wanted to strip - to aliviate any of those feelings, but he refused to give into them.
They intensified, and he felt himself growing hard. He hugged his pillow tightly, shaking his head in a futile attempt to clear his mind. But their connection ran deeper than he could shut down, and it persisted. There was growing frustration inside him as well - at least when they were having sex, there would be a rising arc, but this was just a persistent feeling with no end in him. Voldemort was positive that he would end up combusting. It was all too much.

What if one of the reasons why Elain wanted an affair with Az was “three brothers x three sisters” too?
In ACOSF we can see how she is trying her best to fit in the IC, to forge a bond with the Night Court, but we also know that, despite all her effort, that is not her place. The colours of the Night Court just “suck life” out from her, while all she need is sunshine.
Her argument with Nesta at the beginning of the book also suggest that the reason why “she chose Feyre” above Nesta was to take the easy way, to be safe and protected by the IC.
So that’s why, in my opinion, she could want to be with Az, one of her sister’s best friends (al least, one of the reasons), while choosing her bond with Lucien means facing her trauma, being with the man who “ruined” her engagement with the human she loved. It means accepting to becoming a Fae, that her previous life will never be back.
Not only E/riel will add nothing to the plot itself (since Lucien and Elain are the couple whose travel will lead them to the spring court, to the continent, to defeat Beron etc), but it would also be useless for the growth of Az, Lucien and Elain.
She would continue to choose the easy way and to hide behind someone (who at first were her sisters, while if e/riel happens Azriel). She would force herself to live in a place that she will never be able to call home.
Az, on the other hand, would never realise his dream to have a mate ( I REFUSE to believe in the fake mating bond theory) and would spend his life with someone who will never be completely his.
Also, why should have the author introduced the flirt between him and Gwyn? Why to make his shadows dance when she is nearby? Because she is eViL or to add some drama to an eventual E/riel book that would have zero plot and character development?
Ps: your blog is my daily elucien sunshine, and if toxic haters spend their day reading your posts and getting upset about them, maybe it’s because you don’t lack of reading comprehension.
I'm so so sorry because I know it's taken me forever to respond 😭
But I think you may be on to something.
It is probably an extremely normal reaction to try and grow where you're planted especially when your life just turned upside down.
Elain lost her fiance, her humanity, her human life. She's in a strange world that is probably overwhelming and scary for her. So why would she try and rock the boat after her world was shaken up like that? Why wouldn't she try to find safety and comfort where her sisters are (the two people most familiar to her) and within the cozy little circle of friends Feyre had built for herself? Especially when she sees how volitile Nesta acted when Lucien was around?
For Elain, it would be so much easier if she could find a way to be happy in the NC. If she could have friends and a romantic interest there so she didn't have to go through any other changes. I don't know what Elain saw when Lucien agreed to go search for Vassa however she was looking at him and Feyre mentions having no idea what she was thinking. So maybe she did have a vision that he was going to meet friends on his journey, that he was not going to end up permanently in the NC and maybe that's not something Elain was willing to consider while processing her trauma, the thought of leaving. Maybe she hated that she felt pulled to Lucien knowing that being with him and leaving (at that time) were more than she could handle. So she set out to prove to herself that she could be happy in the NC and happy with the available brother to her sisters mates. Because that would just all be so easy, right? Three brothers with three sisters living together in one place.
But eventually "with time and safety", just like Rhys mentioned, different sides of a person emerge. Just like Feyre needed time and safety with Tamlin after a lifetime of hunger and poverty but ended up growing into someone different once she got that, there's a real chance that Elain will admit that things weren't fitting like she hoped they would and no matter how much she tried to join in on the ICs found family, she never quite belonged.
And you're right, why introduce Gwyn as a possible love interest for Az if he's supposed to be with Elain? SJM already set up a "triangle" of sorts between Mor / Az / Elain and Lucien / Elain / Az even though neither is your typical love triangle. But really, those are drama enough and adding yet another female so it's "Az is in love with Mor / Az is sexually interested in Elain / Elain is willing to kiss Az / Gwyn is flirting with Az while Az is showing admiration for her and noting that her happiness brings a smile to his face" is highly unnecessary. She has already ruined the love story of Az and Elain by adding Gwyn in there who has now garnered emotions that he should have been extending to Elain.
As far as plot, there really is nothing currently connecting Elain and Az to any major plot. It was Lucien they stationed in Spring and Elain who Nesta said Spring had been made for. If SJM wanted Az and Elain to go on a journey together then she would have found a way to place Az in Spring. Same thing with the continent. It was Lucien setting his sight on Koschei, Lucien's friend whose time is up and Elain who Nesta wondered if she'd go to the continent.
At the end of the day, one character hooking up with another character doesn't mean anything especially when SJM keeps finding ways to demonstrate how those two characters aren't compatible and are being set on different paths.

i was the tommy essay anon, and i just want to say how much it slapped?? the whole thing with spommy rivals-(to friends?)-to lovers is actually brilliant. bc i can see it so clearly.
it would make almost more sense for tommy and spencer to dislike each other first before they become bffs, right?? cause at first glance they really aren't alike at all. like you wouldn't expect them to be so fond of each other. (someone in the youtube comments once said 'they're like 2014 tumblr x 4chan and it somehow works' and it changed something in my brain)
i'm also remembering the truth or dab video where courtney was asked who in the room gives the worst first impressions, and spencer was soo surprised they didn't pick him. (courtney then said he gives the worst second impressions tho) <- sorry, a somewhat unrelated tangent.
but tommy's bag of insecurities and defensiveness + spencer's 'showing emotion is a weakness' thing makes for a pretty volitile combo. it's blowing my mind a little just how perfect it is, actually. and you said, let these guys be a little mean to each other? i love you
anyway, thanks for letting me geek out in your inbox, you're great, bye!
thank you!!!! AW see you get me. like ik they are besties-to-lovers most of the time but in another life the rivals-(to friends-ish.... you'll see but i think they would rather die than call each other friends even if it's true)-to-lovers potential is off the charts
YEAH like.... i maintain my stance that they are alike in more ways than they realize but on the surface they're SO different. (that.......... is so real holy shit only referring to them this way from here on out)
YEAH. YEAH REAL. there's no way he gives a Good first impression....... he needs some warming up to imo
ANYWAY. you get it exactly. like there's something about their dynamic that SHOULD be so explosive and in another setting, especially one where they're actively pitted against each other, it would be easy to make them... a little mean to each other.
i love YOU, you're great, thank you for chatting with me always <333333

Majestia's backstory in Replay
On a separate post, we got excited and overindulged on explaining an aspect of Replay again, so we're putting it on a separate post as well for clarity. If this is against proper etiquette, let me know.
Majestica is a magical interdimensional alien who was raised in a world where everyone has magic. Her arrival on Earth, however long ago (my notes are a mess and I didnt list it in the quick notes) caused New York to be a massive hot zone of magical activity.
Never aging, she grew lonely and made herself a child combining technology and magic so she'd have a child who, like her, never knew à life without magic.
At first, she used the magick-tech of supervillains, but then she met à revolutionary and brilliant mage, Miss Jones, who claimed they had found a new magic. It was more volitile and uncontrollable than Majestia was used to, but it had potential, and Majestia was intrigued. She incorporated a small amount into her daughter's design, but not too much, fearing the instability it brought as well.
Slowly, the two worked on improving the technology. Although both were brilliant inventors, Miss Jones proved stronger in the fundamentals of the magic needed, and Majestia was better at the AI. As the project continued, and the two began spending all their time together, Majestia, a sapphic disaster, fell hard.
Before she could confess her feelings though, Miss Jones suddenly went missing. She wasn't at home. She wasn't at her job. She wasn't returning her calls. Majestia grew worried. This wasn't like Miss Jones, not at all. So, she contacted her friend KnightOwl, a detective from a long line of detectives, to find out the truth.
She'd already known KnightOwl of course. They were both single moms raising two superhero daughters and preparing them for their world, their life, but the two had, to an extent, been avoiding each other except on professional matters.
Majestia had been the one to start the trend of superheroes with open identities, while KnightOwl had always been the biggest advocate for the privacy of superheroes and was one of the few heroes who still maintained a secret identity.
It wasn't that Majestia was opposed to secret identities. She felt that heroes should go public with their identities whenever they were ready, but KnightOwl took it too far in her opinion. She had donned, not only a secret identity, but an entire personality that had been made by generations of heroes before her, keeping up a charade that she was ageless, invulnerable, and a man.
Majestia didn't understand it.
This was the modern era. KnightOwl could be a woman if she wanted. She could do her own thing. She didnt have to fit herself into literally becoming her mentor, and she didn’t have to pressure her own child to do that either, but KnightOwl was stubborn. About legacy, and the strength of an unbroken line.
Behind closed doors, KnightOwl's gender was an open secret, and her role as a legacy hero was hardly news to anyone. In public, however, Majestia was to pretend as though KnightOwl was the same person she'd invited to join the United HeroeZ all those years ago.
It was infuriating, but Majestia knew better than to push. Yet she hoped one day KnightOwl would see the light. The world didn't need an unbreakable hero. They already had that in Majestia, but they would do so much better with seeing KnightOwl and Sparrow, the real KnightOwl and Sparrow as they truly were behind closed doors. The parts of themselves they hid away for the sake of their charade and their stupid legacy.
Only, now, Majestia needed KnightOwl for their legacy. She needed that detached professionalism as they learned the truth. Miss Jones, a minor superhero in her spare time, had last been seen fighting a powerful ghost. And she hadn't been seen or heard from since.
The news had been heartbreaking. Majestia had warned Miss Jones not to do it, not to fight an enemy who didn't follow the unspoken agreements that most villains nowadays did. Her enemies had always been mindless, but they had no limits, no desire to pull their punches, and Miss Jones had always been so very fragile.
But Miss Jones had insisted that she was the only one who could do it. Most of the other heroes didn't have the magic to fight them, and even if they did, they didn't have the tech or the know-how to contain them. Even Majestia's magic wasn't compatible enough to really do some damage.
And Majestia could understand that, really she did, but she had never understood why Miss Jones had always insisted on fighting alone, why she'd always been so protective of her research, like she was afraid might steal it at any moment. Majestia knows she should've fought harder, should've insisted that her love never work alone. But she'd always loved the stubborn ones.
It's why she falls for KnightOwl. It's why she lets KnightOwl comfort her, let's KnightOwl see her vulnerability as she falls apart. It's why together the two decide to enroll their kids in the same school, for the convenience of covering for each other at first, but later because the two are so close, separating them seems cruel.
And KnightOwl loves her back. She loves Majestia more than she knows how to handle. She loves her effortless strength. She loves her passion. She loves how Majestia writes her name with delicate little swirls over her giant rack of ribs in the staff fridge. She loves how Majestia treats Sparrow like her own daughter. She loves how Majestia totally hogs the bed without an ounce of shame.
That's why KnightOwl makes one of the most selfish decisions she's ever made. When she gets wind of a new hero team, one using tech that could only have been made using Miss Jones's ideas, KnightOwl says nothing. No, she not only says nothing. She deliberately takes steps to keep the United Heroez away from them.
Because Majestia loves with her whole heart, and KnightOwl is afraid of losing to Majestia's lost love. As a result, Majestia never learns that Miss Jones survived. She never learns that Miss Jones has gone into hiding to prevent anyone from knowing just how far she's truly fallen. Struggling with her new, changed body, her mind not nearly as sharp and focused as she once was, and reliant on the creatures she hunts to keep surviving. Guilty about the kids she's managed to convince to fight her battles for her. The kids she loves so dearly, they might as well be her own.
Majestia never learns about Glowboo, Uncanny Valley's little brother, a glitchey mess compared to other AI, who's programming is slowly being implemented little by little to give his system time to adjust.
Majestia never learns about the friends Glowboo makes, and his overwhelming desire to protect them. She never learns about Glowboo's insecurities that he may never overcome his glitches. She never learns about his friendship with Mike, and how human Mike helps him feel.
But if she ever did, she might just hate KnightOwl forever.

No addictions.

When people die, it's very normal to get caught up in the 'could have beens'. All the things you'll never get to experience with that person now that they're gone. It's something that's been hitting me particularly hard with Technoblade's passing and the DSMP ending. Especially hearing Tommy admit that with how volitile the fandom became, people were prone to avoiding or abandoning lore, it's hard not to be a little resentful. All the cool shit we could have had...
Like I said, it's something I'm struggling with quite hard in relation to Techno too. Hearing Phil discuss his plans with the temple, hearing Tommy talk about the 'inevitable' 4/4 meet-up during an old stream, Techno teasing future content we never got. It's painful.
(I rewatched the scuffed monopoly stream and when Phil said they'd definitely need to play monopoly for real next time, I started crying)
But Tommy describing the DSMP as a miracle strangely helped. Others have put this into words much more eloquently than I can before, but we really were lucky to be there for it and experience it in real time. So many little things lined up for that silly little minecraft rp to become what it did. Covid, the minecraft revival, the CCs meeting and engaging at the right times, them being so passionate in telling a story and us being passionate in running with it. And for people entering the fandom now or later, it'll never be the same. By its very nature, the DSMP was unique in its conception, and in its progression. And I'm so grateful I got to be part of that.
Almost a month ago, I wished I had never discovered Technoblade. If I had never seen a single one of his videos, I wouldn't need to miss him so fucking much.
I want to start viewing it like a miracle though.
If things had lined up slightly differently, I would have never known him. I want to be grateful that our lives could intersect, even for such a brief time. And I want it to be something I can look back at with a smile. I want his videos to comfort me and make me laugh five or ten or twenty years down the line, whenever I have a bad day.
I'm not there, I might not be there for a while.
But someday I will let go of the 'could have beens' and embrace the 'hads'.
Because they truly were a wonderful miracle.

Hi, dumb history nerd anon again! I wanted to ask, does Phillip/Belos gets progressively more or less abusive toward the grimwalkers as the years pass? Does his "fresh" anger with Caleb at the start make him worse or is he more brutal as he gets desensitized?
Philip was probably more emotionally volitile at first and is probably more comfortable dehumanizing the grimwalkers later, but there's also more to it than that.
From the first to the last Grimwalker, they are at most partially human, and were always rotten if they become too sympathetic to witches. Every Grimwalker owes Philip their life, and he is generously giving them the chance to prove they deserve it, so they should at every opportunity prove it.
This EXTREME entitlement from Philip will always lead to him being unfair, controlling, and needlessly harsh, regardless of how much he projects Caleb onto them. He views it all as necessary to keep them from being lead astray, and therefore wouldn't let up much even if he was feeling pity towards a Grimwalker.
I think the factor that would more greatly vary any Grimwalker's relationship to Belos would be how isolated they are.

i watched girl interrupted because of your post and id love to hear more about the au, it sounds very neat!!
GLADLY first of all. You're Welcome. Secondly
I dont think my AU would stray very far from how things pan out in the original movie. BC Komaeda (at her worst) would be as volitile as Lisa is in the movie. I'd like to think that something that changes maybe is if I have Nanami as Jaime, it'd be her suicide that properly pushes Komaeda over the edge. I don't like to fridge Nanami like that though, but i unfortunately also think it works, esp. w/ their relationship being sort of similar in canon as to that. If Komaeda had or believed she had some sort of hand in her death too- AGGHH I think perhaps Komaeda wouldn't attempt to escape as often as Lisa does in the film. If she did, it'd just be to see if she /could/ do it rather than a genuine attempt at escape. Whereas Lisa believes that she doesnt belong there, and thats adds to why she wont get better, Komaeda would believe its safer that she is there, so wont work to get better bc she wants to stay there bc she likes the comfort in being ill.
I actually spoke about this w/ @/biteattack, and biteattack made the differentiation as where Lisa is very loud and charming, but Komaeda would be a lot quieter w/ her manipulation. Their relationship would basically pan out exactly like it did in the first chapter of SDR2, with Hajime trusting Komaeda without realising she's playing right into her hands. Much like Susanna, Hajime wouldn't believe there was anything wrong w/ her. Hajime would also have BPD in this AU, but her symptoms would be a lot more prominent than Susanna's in the film (there is a whole side argument to be had here over whether Susanna in the film actually had bpd. Many ((including the irl Susanna who wrote the book)) believe that it was a mis-diagnosis just due to the time-period it all occured in.) But while inside, Hajime would find an understanding and peace there that she never found anywhere else. ESPECIALLY from Komaeda. Hajime would attach herself to Komaeda instantly, both from Komaeda wanting that to happen and also because, just like in canon, Hajime wants to understand Komaeda so she can better understand herself. But she wouldn't realise that Komaeda's behaviour towards her is actively making her worse.
Ofc, bc its me, I can't help but add Mikan into the mix and make her relationship w/ Komaeda rocky and hateful as Fuck. Komaeda would probably help Hinata escape bc Komaeda would convince Hinata htat theres nothing wrong w/ her (<wrong) and that she SHOULD get out. Komaeda would be so jealous of Mikan bc she got out, and would be spiteful as fuck bc she'd see Mikan as someone who needed to be kept inside, and would not understand why she would be allowed to live so freely and think she was delusional, nad would (just like in the film) rile her up enough that she'd kill herself and AGH- I HATE THEM
The biggest betrayl would be when Komaeda realises that Hajime is actively trying to get better, just like in the film. Komaeda would see it as a personal slight, I think. But underneath it all would be jealousy. That'd be the centre of Komaeda's character, and hope would be the centre of Hinata's.
It's highly toxic and doomed. 0 happy endings. Hinata would visit Komaeda and paint her fingernails red, just like at the end of the movie.
That;s just me spitting off the top of my head and from what me and biteattack talked about. HONESTLY this all started just because I think Lisa and fem!Komaeda are the exact same flavour of sexy HJOAOHUROEGHOUETHOTEOHTH. I haven't watched the movie in a while, so its just from what I remember too. I think Yukizome would be Nurse Owen, and Monomi could be one of the other nurses bc i think thats cute and silly >u< It's not well thought out, its mostly vibes. I could iron out the mess and maybe one day i'll write something short for it but for now i have other projects I want to focus on.
IM SO HAPPY MY STUPID POST I MADE WHEN I WAS BORED IN WORK MADE U WATCH THAT FILM THO ITS SO GOOD!!!!!! if ur further interested in it, the book is rlly easy to read too, and a lot more grounded in reality. It goes more into what Kaysen's mental illness really presented like. The film skips over a LOOTT of it. Ofc, its no where near as explosive or exciting as the movie, but they had to ramp up the stakes and characters and such to make a cohesive story out of it. But i'd still rlly recommend reading the book!

I’ll never forgive him who has put meg through two years of trauma that he caused and made her look like a liar when he was the one who shot her. I wish He and his fans a very rih(as in rot in hell) Same thing with Drake , Joe budden , Zach Campbell, Lebron James , Mariah the scientist, Dababy, Dj akademiks, 50 cent, all the media outlets that were slutting themselves out for this piece of trash by spreading misinformation and lies about his trial so much that they didn’t care about being ethical or professional (the fact that two white women and crime journalists were more accurate than “black” bloggers is just whewww I’m pissed) and everyone else who ever doubted her and I meant that with the upmost disrespect. Like seriously they can all burn right now, heck I’ll get the matches and kerosene and fry them arssholes myself.
Meg tried to protect him until he opened his mouth. The DA prosecuted him and she was still treated like a villain instead of a victim/survivor. Absolutely DISGUSTING. That man brought his child to court as a prop for sympathy knowing DAM WELL he was guilty 🤡. I pray that Meg and any woman/man dealing with domestic violence, are able to move on and heal. Stay strong, keep your head up, and make yourself a plan to leave. 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
It’s crazy the amount of people who defended this violent troll over a black woman who literally got shot by a grown man. I’ve never seen a domestic dispute where people cancel a victim over a crime that is not only proven, but also completely logical considering his past. And people keep saying it’s the end of her career which sadly might be true cause we live in a backwards society but imagine being thrust into the spotlight right after you lose the only person you had and why you started rapping , your mom, and then being around a bunch of snakes and your sex life outed in front of the world to see for clout whilst in the midst of going to court for being attacked. And I’m sure it wasn’t a good feeling for her to know that she was gonna be locking up a man for a long time but she didn’t have no choice. If Meg didn’t press charges the state would have . She had no control over the outcome or even the investigation. Yeah she lied but I do believe she did out of fear because anything she did or said got back lash. I was even annoyed with her at points even tho I’m always gonna be on her side and the victims side. A recent phone call got leaked pretty much sealing the deal and I still see people refusing to give up their pride and still calling her a liar.
Imagine if your daughter got shot in the foot ? I lost my dad at 20 so I know Megan was extremly lost and just doing everything she was told to do bad influences or not. People don’t know that feeling of not being able to ask your parents for guidance or to just hold your parents for strength , you constantly just gotta think “ what would my mom or dad do” . She was hella young like 22 I believe. Until people have lost a parent they don’t understand how deep it can change you . Meg is a victim legally and figuratively but she’s been treated like a suspect this entire time.
Torey is a felon, torey has attacked people for not shaking his hand, he breaks gun charges , he fights in clubs, he’s very volitile , he is not a good person so why people defend him so heavy is lost upon me . Honestly I believe it’s just out of spite
He should have been deported long ago….you should not be allowed to commit all of these offenses and be able to stay here. You cannot behave like this in any other country and expect to stay there….. and his father can’t even raise his child right like You mean to tell me Tory’s daddy couldn’t rear his own son but wanna blame others for his failure as a father? Mane GTFOH!!!
This is the result of what happens when he had no one in his life to hold him accountable. He also fumbled every opportunity given to him. The shooting was the straw that broke the camel’s back. Now, he’s facing the consequences. And he deserves it.
He has no one to blame but himself if anything Dude's his own worst enemy🤬

This is really random, but i just read through your prinxiety sleeping beauty AU! I was wondering if you were still looking for ideas about potential danger and/or conflict... I like the idea you had about the spell, but what if, instead of the spell not working because Virgil accidentally triggers it with a kiss... what if the person leading the opposing army was a powerful magical user themself? What if, when catching up with the sleeping prince and his knight in the forest, they decide to torture Virgil in his last moments by changing the spell? Only a true love's kiss can break the curse, and without one Roman will sleep forever.
The rest of the story will continue as normal... but also!! Optionally! I don't know if you have any plans for Janus, but if you wanted to bring more conflict to the present day, perhaps the enemy who killed Virgil was Janus (who perhaps had a complicated past with the knight?). Janus was also re-incarnated, without any memories save for snippets (much like Virgil.). He's just, you know, a normal guy, although I imagine his latent magic is a lot more volitile. Maybe, by chance, when purusing the bookstore for books on philosophy, he meets Roman and befriends the man. But the moment he sees Roman he begins to be plagued by vivid and violent images, and an unfamiliar simmering rage. He's pretty distressed by the situation and doesn't want to hurt his friend, but his magic begins simmering up. He pushes away Roman, not wanting to hurt him- Matters are only complicated more when, upon Virgil realizing Roman is in danger, he meets Janus, and is like "Oh my god... this is the man who wants to hurt Roman!" But Roman obviously doesn't believe him at this point, and frankly, Janus doesn't know what to believe-
I think it could add a lot of interesting drama, especially if Janus' past self takes control.
OH MY GOSH I LOVE THIS IDEA I JUST HAD TO DRAW SOMETHING FOR IT
(it’s under the cut cause it made the post too long)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I think it would cause a sorta jealous “he really is better off without me” response from Virgil, cause like pre getting his memories back he would just think , “oh Roman’s making friends”(or to make it more angsty getting a boyfriend ) and he can’t figure out why it makes him so freaked out and upset!
And of course Roman and Janus are just friends and Janus sultry look is him trying very hard not to glare at Roman and snap his neck lol, but Virgil doesn’t know that!!!!
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS IDEA!!
