Hey, here’s a transabled positivity post from your local Certified Cripple — I’ve been thinking about how saying like, well I fit your standards and I still think they are shit devalues self-advocacy and frankly invalidates at least half the point, but I realized, and heard from others, that validation of your trans identity from those who are cis in that identity might be a huge support, so 💖

And this is also very much just a transability positivity post in general, regardless of my own disabilities, too.

Your identity is not ableist.

For those who

Are trans in the direction of ability loss: you wanting things that are suffering for others is not invalidation of that suffering.

Are trans in the direction of ability acquisition: it does not mean that you think others are lesser for their disability.

Use, or want to get, mobility aids they “don’t physically need”: you are not stealing resources. There are literally posts within the disabled community about how mobility aids are *not* a limited resource, everyone who needs or wants them should get them if they can, and more demand actually creates more supply.

Present as their identity in any way: you are not faking, not any more than I “fake” when I deepen my voice as a transmasculine and otherwise transvoice person. That *is* real, that is the real you, even if it’s not in your body factory settings.

Can’t present as their identity: hugs, if you want them, or any other display of affection that you would prefer.

Have happily transitioned, or had acquired those changes unintentionally and were happy: congratulations!!

Have transitioned, or had acquired those changes unintentionally, and aren’t happy with them: that does not mean that your past desires were ableist, and that does not mean that your present suffering is your fault.

Are currently transitioning or looking for ways of transition: good luck!

Can’t transition: a display of affection and support of your preference

Don’t want to transition: your identity is valid, and your identity is not ableist, regardless.

I’m trying something a little bit new today. A positivity post because I feel like shit now. For those of you who don’t know my ex broke up with me two days ago and I didn’t really feel anything about it. Turns out I had just numbed my feelings until it hit me on my dog walk today. So trying positivity to make me feel better.

@intothedysphoria is where I got the inspiration to do this. Max makes positivity posts when he feels down and it’s something I admire so much. He also writes such good disabled Harringrove content. Like I don’t even ship it and here I am liking all of the posts because I love it all. And he has been so kind to me on discord when I vented about the breakup. I know right now is a rough patch for you, Max but I just want you to know that you kind of feel like a positive force that teaches me brilliant chaotic gremlin things. Thank you for that!!

@hargrove-mayfields is so amazing too. EJ, you were the first person I have truly interacted with online for any fandom ever. I couldn’t have asked for a better person. You have been nothing but sweet and lovely to me, and though you don’t see my jumping up and down frantically whilst waving my hands in the air every single time we interact and especially when you let me get my grubby mitts on a fandom event (again), I kinda want to let you know I maybe do that. So thanks EJ for being amazing.

@skutter We have never interacted but this is a post to make me happy so I wanted to tag you. I really couldn’t believe it when you shared one of my posts for the first time. Because you are like the only other person who blogs about Red Dwarf I could find. And I barely get to ever talk or do anything about Red Dwarf with anybody my age because I’m really the wrong generation for classics like that but oh boy, your posts bring my so much happiness when I see them. Thank you so much for helping me indulge in a silly little brain rot I have.

My DofE besties who have been with me for so long, I can’t wait to go out tonight which you two arranged beautifully just for me.

Ciara and I have been friends for 14 years, and boy have we been through thick and thin together. We might no longer be as close but I will always remember you for being my first crush and my closest childhood friend. Also the legend who said in response to my I think I’m autistic said yeah, we all knew that.

Abi, we met later but we have been inseparable since. From chucking things at each other, to me making fun of your height (you aren’t *that* short, our friends and me are just tall), and to being the crush who made me realize oh shit, I’m gay.

And to the frankly hilarious coincidence named Jay. You bastard. Why did Ciara have a crush on you and then Abi went on to date you now. Do I have to expect my ex to date you soon? Do I? Will you haunt my romances for evermore?

Anyway thank you to anyone who actually bothered to get up to this point. I see why Max does these now. I feel better.

I want everyone to know that progress is still progress

you achieved that goal you set for yourself, you deserve to celebrate and feel happy about it you did that for you and you alone, not because you were told or pressured to by others and thats amazing that you accomplished it and made it this far

no mater how small, no matter how mundane or what anyone says about it, youre still doing great.

you might have just been able to take one more step on your walk, one more bite of food, youre able to do one small thing better than or that you couldnt before and its still progress, its still an accomplishment.

youre able to calm yourself or redirect it to something better or youre able to catch yourself and differentiate your disordered/irrational thoughts from rational

however you measure your progress, even if that bar or that number moves by one, maybe less than a half or a fraction, it still moved. you still made progres and you still deserve to feel good and happy about it all theres still a while bunch of progress you made whether you havnt done any yesterday, today or wont do any tomorrow, you still made it ths far.

and im so incredibly proud of you for all of that, no matter how little your progress its still your mind and body and your goals and im so happy with what you've accomplished just by making it here right now.

even if no one else is happy for you or celebrating your little victory with you, i am. im here in your corner cheering you on and i always will be. im proud of every little thing and im going to continue to be proud of and support you on the rest of your journey because you deserve it.

youre healing and no matter how long it takes, how long you still have to go ahead of you, i know you'll make it because you've come this far. no matter what setbacks and roadblocks you face im still so incredibly proud of you and i know you'll still get there in the end.

i know we can do this together, you deserve to be proud and happy and healthy and treat yourself and be loved, and you are! and im right here with you the entire way through.

no matter what it is you still did it, you made progress and whatever goals you may or may not have achieved by now im still so proud.

The last week or so has been rly tough just cause it’s been awhile since I had so much work and less free time and it’ll be worth it in the end but it’s definitely a lot harder than I expected. I need to find a good balance of staying on top of learning and not burning myself out cause it’s just leading to tons of anxiety. I’m rly trying to work on regulating my anxiety shit cause some days / nights especially it gets hard. If I ever post too much about it y’all could let me know. This blog shouldn’t be 25 percent Bart and then 75 percent my drama. Daydreaming. I sometimes get this scene play out in my mind and go 'I have to write this'.

2. A line/short snippet of your writing that you are most proud/happy of. If not maybe share a line of someone else's work you love (just please credit them)

"You've seen me as a person when I was convinced I was a monster. You are what kept me sane when I thought I was losing my mind. You've forgiven me for things I thought were unforgivable. This–" He poked at the jasmine held in the buttonhole of His lapel. "This is what kept me focused today. You are what makes me whole."

3. Which OC makes you smile every time you think/talk about them and what are they like?

Rilna from The Truth Teller is my current 'comfort character'. The honest, kind soul that is trying to stay so despite everything. Also, Lirivan, although I don't talk/write about him that much yet - he appears later in the story.

4. What process of writing do you enjoy the most?

The moment where all the little off-handed references come together. When a character makes a comment that I put in because I needed something and it suddenly fits into the wider picture perfectly.

5. What part of writing do you think you are the best at? (Yes stroke your own ego it's okay)

Hands-down worldbuilding. But also, I think I'm quite good at action/fight scenes.

6. What is something in the writeblr community is most enjoyable?

Tag games keep me motivated, but I love all the interactions (especially the little comments in the tags) - they always make my day!

7. A writing tool/device you use that helps you with writing? (It could be speech to text, a writing program etc)

A good old-fashioned notebook. It forces me not to edit as I write. I've also moved from a single doc to Scrivener within the last year, and I've got to say, it's working out better than I expected (although I don't use the majority of the features).

8. A piece of worldbuilding that you like in your own story? (It could be the magic system, a particular place in the story, a law etc)

All the myths are true. Things can be believed into existence. Legends about living people directly affect them, often forcing them to do things they'd rather not.

9. What piece of advice would you say to encourage others to write if they are having a rough patch?

It's ok to take a break. It's ok to write self-indulgent fluff that you don't intend to show to anyone. Or even not write at all, but try your hand at a new hobby, read a book, do something creative.

1. Mina Murray/Mina Harker - beagle. - the most intelligent character in the novel, other than Jonathan the primary hunter of Dracula. Beagles are known well for their intelligence and ability to hunt.

2. Jonathan Harker - Labrador retriever. - A sporting and family dog, thoroughly charming and intelligent but understated to a point. Just like our dear friend Jonathan. Can spot red flags from a good distance, they however, can’t always act to protect themselves.

3. Lucy Westenra - Yorkshire terrier - charming, intelligent, earnest, would not deliberately hurt anyone and amiable. Just like our ingenue, Lucy.

4. Van Helsing - Dutch Shepard - a herding dog, somewhat parental, Dutch, clever and known to read signs and cues very well.

5. Arthur Holmwood - papillon - charming, upper class, ridiculously cute, and known for their good hair and most thorough innocence and good intentions.

6. Quincey Morris - German Shepard - a ranch dog, strong, steady, versatile, hard working, earnest and loyal to the end, just like our American cowboy.

7. John/Jack Seward - Affenpinscher - a German dog originally bred to kill rats, awkward looking, small, and hard to find in the 21st century. Some may consider them to off putting but if you utilized correctly a useful set of paws, or hands to have on one’s team.

8. Not technically in the polycule but he gets love here.

R. M Renfield - Basenji - an usual dog, known for being “barkless” or “voiceless” in dog terms, often wrongly perceived as lacking substantial will or helpless. This is in fact, untrue, rather than silent this dog “yodels” “sings” and “sirens.” Useful as hunting dogs as Renfield is, despite circumstances useful to our vampire hunting polycule/crew. Basenji often alert their owners of danger and send signals, albeit in no traditional way. What Basenji sound like.
