WWX dies in the siege of the Burial Mounds & part of his spirit gets flung through time & latches onto the moment where he is strangled & his heart stopped & goes 'it's free real estate', resulting in a time travel AU where WWX choses to nope the fuck out of the cultivation world. He does die in that moment, but if the requester wants an angsty MCD fic, this ain't it / has Wei Ying die of strangulation but a fragment of his soul returns to that moment and he lives again.

I would like to recommend this incredibly cute fic. There are a lot of non-jiang-wwx fics, but this is the first non-lan-lwj fic I've read and I didn’t know I needed a lwj like that until now.

It is incredibly sweet and wholesome. A free and unrestrained lwj that will kill you from cuteness overload. It was wonderful and a delight to read. I was smiling the whole time. I highly recommend it! @vikreads

The Missing Second Jade

A League of Nobleman - 10 new episodes dropped Sunday/Monday and I immediately binged them all because I have no chill. You can tell this is the middle bit, because compared to the first 10 episodes things were less ramped up. But still very very enjoyable. And for a change, I think I’ve caught some foreshadowing! Now, whether I have interpreted it correctly remains to be seen. Mowen continues to throw a curve (lock? barge?) into the shipping lanes and I love him. OT3 ftw?

The Lost Tomb 2 - Been watching it all week and am pleased that there are so many episodes. It started out kinda slow/exposition-y, but picked up once they got to the mountains and in the tomb. One of the actors looks enough like Machida Keita that I do a double take every time he’s on screen. I suspect there is fic for Wu Xie/Zhang Qi Ling and will be investigating once I’ve caught up. That is an old skool slash ship if I’ve ever seen one, even though neither are blond. LOL

My School President - A great episode this week. I know this is a ‘sweet’ series, but for a minute there I did think that Gun’s mom might not survive the surgery. I’m also more than a little surprised that the Hot Wave competition wasn’t the big finale episode. That leaves two episodes of falling action that will feel like filler after the competition/surgery plots. But at least ep 10 was excellent and felt like a finale.

Once again I’m late to the fuckin’ party but I’ve been devouring all the JWDS fic I can find, so I come bearing recs. Here are my favorites (and I’m a grade-A fic snob, which means you know they’re gonna be good).

Somehow what he wound up saying through gritted teeth was, “Staying.”

Joowon hasn’t said much about work this week, which fits a pattern Dongsik has been piecing together. A few late nights, cases Joowon doesn’t want to talk about, and a sudden fit of self-denial in the bedroom. There are bad weeks in their line of work, weeks when nobody wins and you see things broken that won’t be fixed. Dongsik has seen worse ways of coping. So he makes noodles and doesn’t ask about Joowon’s day, and doesn’t comment when Joowon sits closer than usual on the couch.

small health update

I can now type/read for short periods of time + am starting strength-building in PT finally so unless my shoulder MRI shows extensive damage that needs surgical repair, I should be back to normal (and hopefully back to work) by mid-November

I’ve been gifing a little bit on the side (with frequent breaks) + should be able to open my inbox again in a week or so

With the threat of the Wen sect looming, the other major sects decide to summon the aid of a man they’d killed centuries ago: the Yiling Patriarch, Wei Wuxian.

My comments: Oooh, this is intense. Like, things are presented in the summary as kind of a joke only they're really, really NOT.

Wwx comes into a room full of cultivators, all of whom thought making mo xuanyu sacrifice himself for the greater good was a viable option. They don't start out on the right foot at all. (On the other hand, the underlying current is that wwx is laughing at all of them. Primarily for being such short-sighted idiots. But also, through his antics, he makes them see what a gruesome and unethical path they're carving through this war.)

Story is in three parts. The first just deals with a passive view of wwx, a frightening and powerful demonic cultivator of old, called up to ask for something they... don't quite realize they were asking for.

Second part is more focused on lwj, and how he sees what is happening. It's much more human, and then leaves you hanging with a very big What If.

Third part... it'd be Spoilers if I told you ;)

one of the classics. this is also the fic that got me into the whole mdzs fandom. i literally just searched up kid fic on ao3 and this one seemed promising... so i read it without knowing who tf lan wangji or wei wuxian are... fast forward a few months later and all i can think about is “wangxian are married and have a son.” THEY’RE MARRIED AND HAVE A SON. now take that knowledge and add in modern wangxian as university music students who get married to take care of a-yuan and you’ve got yourselves this brilliant fic. also, i did not know you can endlessly pine for your own husband but with wangxian, anything’s possible

yes. i love arranged marriage wangxian fics okay ! they’re my guilty pleasure. this one’s unique because lwj’s actually bethrothed to jiang yanli and jin zixuan’s bethrothed to wwx which is actually kind of funny especially when jzx asks lwj if he wants to switch. it does get angsty but there’s a happy ending !

okay, this one is HEAVY. like you would seriously just want to wrap wwx in a blanket and feed him soup kind of heavy. to summarize, radio host lwj keeping plant dad wwx company with his voice and then himself once he moves into the same apartment as wwx. honestly, this one hits home for me, it will definitely make you sob but the ending is so hopeful and i need a sequel of just plant dads wangxian being domestic

in which wwx travels to lanling alone for jin ling’s one month celebration and gets heavily injured, cue in very heavy hurt/comfort. warning, there’s major illness and surgery in this fic. so basically, lwj stays in the burial mounds to guard wwx and the wens while wwx recovers from his injury. LISTEN, burial mounds husbands wangxian and heavy hurt/comfort, what more do you need. go read it

i have lost count of how many times i’ve read this one, i love it so much. lwj and jzx bond over their mutual pining for wwx and jyl and accidentally starts a cult with nhs to prevent unsuitable people from courting them. where do i even begin with this fic, it’s literally so amazing !! very crack-y, my favourite line is “Young Master Jin! It’s Lan Wangji! He’s enacting Phoenix Mountain Part 2!” and then what happens after is my favourite scene

written in jiang fengmian’s pov where jfm realizes jiang cheng attracts a lot of attention from... old men. cue in lan xichen and his charming smile and this spells trouble to jfm so he enlists wwx’s help in operation protect jiang cheng. endgame xicheng with side pairing wangxian, this is absolutely cute and very humorous
