20/06/23-Lakeside and home 

Photos taken today in this set: 1. Ringlet, great to see a few of these and take my first photo of one this year. 2. Marbled White, great to see a fair few again. 3. A lovely Small Skipper which I saw a fair few of too. 4-7. Views on lunch time and evening walks at Lakeside today. 8. St. John’s-wort at Lakeside, a key flower seen again. 9. Magpie out the back. 10. A male Blackbird I saw well at Lakeside this evening along the northern path, seeing a female there this lunch time. The male quietly called as though to chicks. 

Meadow Brown and Large Skipper made it a fantastic five butterfly species at Lakeside with the number of individual butterflies I saw today promising of those dizzy summer days especially with the noted lack of insects that has made headlines so far this year. Key birds seen at Lakeside were a Whitethroat in the air and going down onto a bush, Long-tailed and Blue Tits seen nicely in trees with some possibly young, Swifts and the adorable Great Crested Grebe chicks enjoyed again. Jackdaw and Goldfinch were nice to see at home today. I got good views of Grey Squirrel on both walks. Lady’s-bedstraw, bird’s-foot trefoil and agrimony three more nice yellow ones, bindweed, dock, self-heal, hogweed, purple loosestrife, honeysuckle, thistle, yarrow and chamomile were other great flowers seen today. I was also thrilled to see pyramidal orchids and some precious bee orchids by Concorde lake which my Mum found yesterday, a thrilling moment seeing my first of these delightful favourite flowers of mine at Lakeside this year after the ones at RSPB Conwy last Wednesday. I love that with bee orchids at Lakeside they spring up at different bits every year.
