Thoughts about Xavier and Wednesday. I just can't stop thinking of these two.

It was 4 in the morning when I wrote this blog after I had rested for a long time, and didn't post anything on this account.

I didn't sleep all night because, at the moment writing this blog, I had just finished watching Wednesday the Netflix series. To be honest, this show is so good and everything is so perfect.

I wanna talk about the relationship between Wednesday and Xavier.

Yeah, I know, Wednesday is supposed to be 'alone' and shouldn't be interested in any romantic relationship (if you know what I'm talking about.)

Me too, I think it's a bit weird for Wednesday to have a romantic relationship with someone because just as Goody told her, "The path of a Raven is a solitary one." She definitely will meet new friends, companions and buddies during her journey, but at the end of her journey, Wednesday will be the only one who arrived at her own terminal bus station, or perhaps, a train station sounds more suitable for her.

I don't even know the reason why I ship Xavier and Wednesday, maybe it's because of the eyes of Jenna who portrays Wednesday and the way how Percy Hynes Whiten aka Xavier look at Wednesday.

I found sorrow, or misery in Xavier's eyes, maybe because he knew Wednesday will never really care about him, but he still manage to fall for her again and again, even though he got rejected so many times. Xavier is like a top tying on Wednesday's neck, whenever she got too far, Xavier will be the one to pull her back to the shore. Of course, Wednesday will do the same for Xavier.

I never expect a romance story between Xavier and Wednesday, even a bit of a platonic story, I never really imagine it. In my mind, Xavier will be Wednesday's private painter, he will be the one painting a portrait of how Wednesday looks in his eyes, and this portrait will be used at Wednesday's funeral.

Let me tell you how I imagine their story in adulthood in my own way:

Xavier and Wednesday still remain in contact even though they graduated from Evermore, but not the kind of normal contact we thought. Xavier will draw Wednesday a portrait of her every birthday so that she can put it on her own funeral.

Xavier will keep falling for Wednesday again and again, and Wednesday will keep turning him down again and again. This becomes a thing between them.

You know, Wednesday will never be Morticia. I mean I never imagine Wednesday's love life story the way how I adore the relationship between Morticia and Gomez. I think the relationship thing in Addams' Family is a very unique topic.

So, when Xavier and Wednesday pop up, they click me.

I don't know how to explain, like.......

They love like a couple of old friends and they kill like a couple of old friends.

I think the music 'Solas by Jame Duffy' pretty much sums up my opinions about shipping Xavier and Wednesday. If you go to listen to this song, maybe you will know my feeling. The vibe from this song is so Xavier and Wednesday.

If you could change everyone’s opinion of 1 character, who would it be and why?

Luke Castellan. I hate how everyone ignores that he was just as much of a victim as every other demigod in the series.

A lot of the fandom depicts him as this whiny 20 something year old baby man child with daddy issues and anger management problems and has crushes on teenage girls (Annabeth and Silena) which isn’t true. (Ok that part about anger may not be entirely false but we’ll get to that in a minute)

First off I hate the mischaracterzation of Luke liking Annabeth and Silena romantically because he didn’t.

It’s obvious he saw Annabeth as a little sister and it’s obvious he meant “did you love me?” as “were we really like a family? Was I a good big brother figure before me and Kronos screwed everything up?” and Annabeth and Percy who knew she had a crush on Luke for some time (that Luke may not have been known about) misinterpreted what he meant by thinking it was romantic like Annabeths feelings when really Luke meant it platonically

I make a point later on that Kronos is behind 99% of the evil plans and I’m pretty sure that was the case with Silena and Luke. I just don’t think Luke could have come up with something like that on his own he’s not naturally that much of a snake. Also Silena said he was “charming” that doesn’t always mean romantic attraction. It can mean polite, friendly, likable, charismatic, or sometimes funny. “Charming” does not mean Luke was flirting with Silena he was simply being polite and likable enough to convince Silena of Kronos’s cause. Now on to the real problems.

He had every right to be angry about being used like a puppet almost his whole life (by both gods and titans) when all he ever did was try to make things better for demigods and anyone oppressed by the gods and ended up getting caught in the crossfire and was forced to be a puppet for a titan in gods against titans war.

Almost nobody blames Hermes for sending Luke on that quest to mount Tam where Kronos found him, but everybody blames Luke for things that were far out of his control.

I hate that everybody ignores that Luke had just fought a 100 headed dragon all by himself and was just mauled in the face and was in one of the most traumatic moments of his life when Kronos started talking to him and telling him things he wanted to hear and comforting a traumatized and panicking teenager all so he could get into Luke’s head and groom and manipulate him to do his bidding.

I hate how everyone ignores that Kronos literally trapped Luke when he was a kid and trained him to be his perfect little pet well into his 20s until he tried to get away.

I hate how everyone ignores that Luke tried to get away from an abusive all powerful being that watched him like a hawk.

I hate that everyone ignores that Luke never wanted any demigods to die he wanted them to thrive he wanted to help them he wanted them to stop dying and the only way to do that is to destroy their oppressor (the gods) and here comes a child army of brainwashed 12-17 year olds defending their deadbeat neglectful parents that occasionally send them on traumatizing and deadly quests for some reason

I hate how everyone ignores that Kronos was the true villain and was behind 99% of all the bad things happening in PJO. I hate the Luke is always blamed for the bad stuff stuff he didn’t even do or the stuff he was forced to do but clearly didn’t want to do.

I hate that everyone ignores how even when Luke was actively dying he was still making sure this kind of abuse and oppression against demigods would never happen again.

I hate that Luke has become a scapegoat in this fandom.

I hate that almost nobody blames the true oppressors: Kronos, Hermes, Zeus, and the rest of the Olympian gods for knowing about the abuse and neglect and being silent about it.

For those that don't know me, my name's Lou (she/her) and I have recently gotten back into revamping the numerous fic projects I had in my vaults and trying to get back into my writing again.

I have put out this post to say that if anyone is also in a similar situation with their own fics, I am offering my fellow fic writers to beta & alpha read fics in exchange for coming on as an alpha or beta reader for my own projects.

Vox Machina Trials forgotten AU

This AU takes place post campaign. Keyleth accidently finds an old abandoned library of sorts hidden underneath and within the roots of a tree near Zephra, there are this weird beautiful yet eerie alters around each with some sort of animal like symbolism, most have filled bookshelves but quite a few have little or none. Keyleth starts to discover that these books are the diaries and biographies of past voice of tempests and their loved ones, some telling rather horrific tales. She learns quickly that some elder families in the ashari are corrupt (her family isn’t corrupt, they have no clue) and  have kept a great secret from recent Tempests that being the Life link trials, they are trials the family/loved ones of the Tempest take to share in the extended life span of the Tempest so they don’t succumb to loneliness and madness (which she reads about some who fell to both of these, lots of the past Tempests she finds had died in horrific ways by either the corrupted elders, put down for going mad, or other ill fates) Tons of ancient traditions lost some being a way to help the ashari thrive and some others hinting at how Ashari not only protected the element plane rifts but also had a helping hand in dealing with the undead. She inlists the help of Percy and in secret the two focus on keeping the books safe and away from other Ashari for now in case the corrupted ones come to destroy it all. (The guards/blades are completely loyal to Keyleth) eventually Vex finds out which leads to the rest of Vox Machina finding out and helping as well. Eventually one of them finds a startiling connection, the Raven Queen only started taking/needing champions once the ashari tradition of taking care of the undead stopped, this causes Vox Machina to start to trying to commune with/or research more into the Raven Queen. Eventually a agreement is met with Keyleth and the Raven Queen due to their ideals and wants aligning but due to The Matron knowing that this will start a civil war within the Ashari she sends Vax to help protect Keyleth and the rest of Vox Machina for the revolution of the Ashari. (This kind of is why Vax is fate touched, because if he stayed with Keyleth she would have never found any of this out)

Main romantic relationships: Vaxleth, Percahlia, Pikelan

Platonic ships: all Vox machina ones with a focus on Keyleth & Percy and Keyleth & The Raven Queen (kinda more like they bond over hating some people)

Hi everyone! I'm a new writer on Tumblr, but I wanted to let you guys know that I am taking requests for one-shots, headcanons, etc. Below are details on what characters & ships I'll write, what I will and won't write, request guidelines and stuff like that. Now, onto request guidelines:

I will write oneshots, headcanons (general or based on a specific prompt, like a character's hobby or relationship with another character) fluff, and angst. I can write some level of smut, but only something like making out, kissing, etc. Please don't be afraid to ask, but please don't be upset if I turn down the request, it's usually only because I'm not comfortable with writing it. I also won't write anything about rape, abuse, incest, anything that's racist, anything smutty that involves a minor and an adult, etc.

2. There are certain ships I will not write about as well, I won't list specific ones, but I will not write about ships that involve an adult and a minor, a student and a professor, polyamorous ships, etc. I get that everyone has their preferences, and that's fine, but I'm not comfortable writing those types of ships. Any other ships, though, are totally fine! I will also write platonic ships, not just romantic ships.

3. Be kind. if you don't like the request I've written, please be polite. Although I am by no means transphobic, racist, etc, I do not have much experience in writing characters that are part of the LGBTQIA+ community or characters with different cultures, and this may reflect on my writing. But, with that matter and just in general, I try my best, so I will not accept any hate on this blog, towards me or others.

4. Be patient. Please take this as a friendly remember that, like the rest of us, I do have a life, and while I'll try to get back to you on a request as soon as possible, I can not write 24/7. So please don't be offended if it takes a while for me to finish your request, I will try to finish it as quick as possible. And, please don't be offended if I choose not to write your request. There are a lot of things I really don't feel comfortable writing about, and that's okay. It's not my intention to offend you if I don't write your request, it's just my preference. And, sometimes it has nothing to do with the content of your request, but simply because I don't have the energy to write sometimes, and I just have to turn down some requests.

5. Please be detailed. This is very important! Please specify in your request, what character you want me to write about, the ship you want me to include if you just want it to be a character x y/n thing, or a nonshipping request, a clear summary of your idea, the type of writing you want it to be (headcanons, one shot, fluffy, angst etc), that type of thing. It doesn't have to be super long, just enough so I know what you actually want me to write. And please only submit your requests via my asks, not in the comments of my posts or anything like that.

A DEEPER LOOK;

BACKGROUND: Percy De Rolo was born the third child of seven children in the prominent De Rolo family of Whitestone.  With no possibility in his eyes of receiving a lordship.  He turned his studies to innovation and engineering.   His genius level intellect lead to his aspirations of renovating and revolutionizing his own home state.  A desire he would never see fulfilled.  One night his family hosted a traveling noble family.  The Briarwoods.  A seemingly normal couple that would devastate his family.  A usurpation.  Old Allies of his family had betrayed them and in one foul swoop they laid dead at his feet.  The torment he endured turned his hair pale white from fear.   One night he managed to escape, freeing his last remaining relative his younger sister and fleeing into the night.  Chased by the betrayers, Percy was helpless to watch as his sister was impaled with multiple arrows.  Seemingly dead.  He made it to the river at the end of his family’s property when he jumped into the cold embrace of the water. He could not tell you what transpired in the years following his escape until the dream happened.  A roaring cloud of smoke offered him vengeance and he awoke with a design in his mind.  Soon after Percy created his first gun.  The first of its kind in his world.   He would later join up with an adventuring party named Vox Machina.  A team that helped heal his broken soul, a group that would venture into his old home and help him reclaim it from the clutches of the very people who destroyed everything he once loved.  Monsters he would never stop fearing as they seemingly defied death time and time again.   Vox Machina saved his soul.

HEADCANON(S):  Percy loves fiercely both platonically and romantically.  If he grows to trust you he wishes to keep you safe on some level.  Percy’s greatest fear is being alone, it brings him back to a dark place.  Vex is the only person that if he ever heard his full name from would instantly freeze in fear.    Him and Cassandra took years to mend their relationship fully but they both still cared about each other.

How would you say you feel about certain tlovm ships? I find myself mostly apathetic to them and more interested in the found family aspects though Perc'ahlia seems solid naratively in both show and campaign.

So I’ll say with TLOVM I see a few ships mentioned constantly.

I’ll say I’m never really been a massive shipper and skew more platonic and found family in general and tend to stick to canon ships because I am boringggg (unless it ends open ended and I find the ship interesting).

However because I love the show, I’ve found fanfic an easy way to explore the world and characters. It’s an ‘in’. So yes, I have read all of these. Mostly Perc’ahlia.

Perc’ahlia: look I keep reblogging this. I just really love it. Gives me girl boss and male wif vibes. I also love the general slow burn of it. Yes I’m referring more to the campaign than the show. But she can get through to him and I think he would be this dependable and steadying influence to her (when we see more of Vex’s character). I’m surprised about how much I enjoy it considering how little I usually care. The ‘take off the mask’ so she can see him at his worst moment is like fucking poetry to me. Also they’re sexy.

Vaxleth: I really don’t have much opinion. Vax likes her, it’s implied she might like him back but rejects him because of the timing and doesn’t feel exactly the same way. Like? They just show them liking each other and there’s no real build up to it. Vax thinks she amazing at the start and still thinks that at the end. However I think there’s strong potential to show that relationship dynamic change so I’m interested, just not enamoured.

Vexleth: this honestly feels like a first crush Keyleth has on Vex but I have a feeling it won’t lead anywhere. Like the thing that’s interesting me about the ship is maybe Keyleth having a crush on the idea of Vex but not really knowing Vex herself. I’m finding the most angsty angle.

Percildan: The alternative Percy ship. Like the show has given me very little for this other than hate sex so I guess if that’s your thing I can see it. I think this has more basis in the campaign where their relationship is close then gets dramaful in it etc etc (also I believe Percy has had a kiss from both twins maybe?)

Pikelan: I didn’t like Scanlan in the first two episodes (I didn’t like them much in general but I adore the Briarwood arc and the characters in that arc) but looks beloved sex maniac x power gnome is cute (especially since I know we get Scanlan angst later on in the series as well).

I think that’s all the ships? Apart from Polymachina. Which I’m always down with.

I think I wish we had a bit more platonic besties moment in the show. Supposedly Keyleth and Percy have a good friendship in the campaign but we only really had one scene between them. The rest of their scenes are like anything else.

I think an issue I had, and I have mentioned it briefly, is that I couldn’t understand why they were still travelling together and looking for work if they didn’t like each other that much. Like why was Percy with them. He’s an arsehole. Why would Scanlan be travelling with them? Why are Vex and Vax with them and not going it alone? I just couldn’t figure out if they were meant to have just met as a work group and still getting to know their dynamic or if they were meant to be close friends. Like I was genuinley confused by this during the first episodes. This was my introduction and I didn’t get the characters at all. I’m glad episode three was so intriguing.

Like I fully believe that they sprung Percy from a jail cell in the cartoon like a month before the first two episodes because that’s the only way that makes sense to me.

Basically I want more found family moments in the show and I want them to clarify the relationships between each other. Hopefully season 2 doesn’t have many romantic moments, it’s just building up the later romances and current friendships.

So yeah, love the found family aspect! Especially with all their pasts, even those not shown in the show. They all have pain and could find life together. Like, You mean this gnome family adopted Grog? This big goliath in this tiny gnome house? That’s adorable. I love that. I want to see that, and them all loving each other.

If the show had the budget for two more episodes, I’d have two episodes between the dragon episodes and the Briarwood arc. Maybe a Scanlan and Pike and Grog centric emotional arc. That would flash back very briefly to how the group all met each other. Please I just needed some clarification.

Some Random Vox Machina Headcanons!

These take place in a canon divergent universe, so don't expect them to be canon friendly or "accurate".

Percy will sometimes pass out in his workshop only to wake up in his room. He has no idea who it is that moves him, but he appreciates it. It's Grog, by the way. He hates seeing Percy with a sore back from sleeping hunched over at his desk.

Vax likes to bird watch when he has free time. He also takes this time to meditate and practice yoga. He finds it soothing when his mental health starts getting bad again.

Vax likes carving wooden figurines for his friends and family. Vex'ahlia has over 1,000 little wooden Trinket figurines dotted around her room.

When the others feel like training, Grog is more than happy to be their training instructor. In fact, Grog tends to give the people of Whitestone and the Whitestone Army free training lessons too.

Scanlan has published song books full of the songs he has written a long with matching sheet music for different instruments.

Vax, Gilmore and Keyleth are a happy Polycule. While Gilmore and Keyleth only have platonic love for eachother, both have deep romantic feelings for Vax and Vax is deeply in love with both of them back.

While Keyleth is Pansexual, she's sexually repulsed. Meanwhile, Gilmore is Gay and Vax is Bisexual, neither being shy in the bedroom.

Vex'ahlia and Percy end up having 7 children, the second and third kids being twins with the fifth kid being a Tiefling;

Vax, Keyleth and Gilmore have a townhouse in Whitestone for when they want privacy from everyone else at the Castle. Gilmore also has a beach home his parents care for back in Marquet for when they go on vacation. But all 3 have their own individual room at Whitestone Castle.

Vax and Pike occasionally take night time walks together to talk about their respective Goddesses and the work it is they do for them both. Pike helps Vax whenever his doubts and fears get too much, and Vax is happy to reassure Pike whenever she feels like she isn't good enough for Sarenrae.

Vex and Percy are very hands on with their children, treating each one with equal amounts of love and respect. They try not to be overbearing, but make sure no child is ignored. That being said, they do occasionally find themselves disagreeing over certain aspects of how their children are raised. That's usually where good ol' Uncle Vax gets brought in.

Nothing makes Vax smile wider than when one of the quarter elves call him Uncle Vax. Whenever he talks to his Queen, he usually updates her on them and gushes about all 7 of them to her.

Vax and Vex have a memorial made in Whitestone for their mother, as well as the rest of Thordak and his fellow dragons' victims, in Whitestone. Vax visits it often, talking to his mother whenever he can. Vex visits it too, but not as often as Vax does. When Vex does go see it, she tends to take Percy and the kids, while Vax prefers visiting it alone. Gilmore and Keyleth do tag along with Vax sometimes, but Gilmore also visits on his own sometimes when he feels he needs advice on his relationship with Vax.

Dinner at the Castle is quite flexible on Miresen through Yulisen, anyone can stop in if they want but don't need to, but it's a big family affair every Da'leysen where everybody - Percy, Cassandra, Vex, Vax, the quarter elves, Keyleth, Keyleth's parents, Gilmore, Gilmore's parents, Scanlan, Kaylie, Pike, Grog, Kima and Allura - eat together and catch up at the end of the week. It's rare for anybody to miss the big family dinner and usually only happens if somebody is sick or if Vax, Pike or Kima are away on work for their Goddesses. It's thanks to Vex'ahlia having teleportation circles made that link the Castle to Gilmore's parents' home in Marquet and Keyleth & Keyleth's mom's tree teleportation magic.

Vox Machina have noticed that Vax tends to be tailed by a raven or two whenever he is outside. This has gained Vax the nickname "The Raven Prince", something Vax finds quite embarrassing. Secretly, the Raven Queen is very amused about this development as the birds are actually watching over Vax on her order.

Hazel Levesque is haunted by Percy and Annabeth’s fall into Tartarus.

She can’t get it out of her mind. She remembers staring down at Percy, and she remembers seeing him for the first time, carrying Juno, disguised as an old woman, across the river: Hazel thinks about how the first time she saw him, she thought he was a Roman god—the looks, and with his Achilles’ curse, the aura.

Hazel remembers staring down at Percy, his face all gaunt and bloody, and thinking, he still does look like a Roman god.

But then she hears him say: “You’re not getting away from me. Never again.”

Suddenly a realization she should’ve known before flashes across her brain: this boy—no, no, man, is a better person than any god could ever be. Percy Jackson is better than the gods—he’s brave, he’s courageous, he fights for his friends, he’s loyal to a fault, and he loves Annabeth Chase more than he does the world, more than he does life itself. He would rather die with her in the deepest pit of the Underworld than to live without her. He would rather fall and potentially die, his last feeling being fear, than to live with the loss of Annabeth Chase.

And it changes Hazel. She remembers how Nico says that the gods don’t even go down there—but Percy Jackson did, she reminds herself. For Annabeth.

And that’s why, for those days Percy and Annabeth are gone, she isn’t worried. Like, of course, she is worried about saving them—if she isn’t able to save her friends. But she isn’t worried about Percy: he will make it out of there.

He is her motivation those days.

She remembers seeing him cross the Tiber River, the smoke rising from his skin as his Achilles’s curse disappears, like he had taken an acid bath. He did it for a stranger—lost his invulnerability for an old woman he didn’t even know. She remembers how he accepted her and Frank without looking back, even though she and him were at the bottom of the social chain at the time, in the Fifth Cohort. She remembers their plane ride to Alaska, giving him that sisterly kiss on the cheek, and how she knew they would make it with him at her and Frank’s side. Hazel remembers watching Percy stabbing Riptide into the glacier and watching him plummet off the cliff, saving the legion’s golden eagle.

She remembers Percy saying that the only thing he remembers is his girlfriend—she knows he loves her, especially when she watches Percy, with that blissful smile on his face and that sparkle in his sea green eyes, run toward his girlfriend when the Greeks arrive. She hears Percy’s voice in her head ask if her and Frank were coming, and she realizes she can’t let him go. He was like a brother to her, even if they only spent four days together. She risked her own life to give Percy and his girlfriend a chance to escape because she felt like she needed too. He deserved more, though. He deserved the entire world—and that includes to live with his girlfriend at his side.

She remembers saving him in the muskeg—how they both nearly drowned from the earth. The earth, which Hazel is supposed to be able to control; drowning, which is something Percy is supposed to be incapable of doing.

She sees Percy lung toward Annabeth without a second thought, without a moment’s hesitation, holding onto that tiny little ledge, holding both his and hers weight with that ledge, and he how he looks at his girlfriend and says, “You’re not getting away from me. Never again.”

“As long as we’re together,” Annabeth says.

Because, really, Hazel thinks, that’s all they care about. That they’re together. The first thing Percy says to Annabeth after her trial is, “It’s okay. We’re together.” Not we’re alive, not we’re okay. “We’re together” is what he says. That’s all that matters to him is that his girlfriend, his mom, and all his friends are okay. If it killed him, he would protect them.

That’s what makes him different. Hazel Levesque sees his loyalty to Annabeth Chase and his family and friends. She realizes it in that moment, when Percy Jackson is holding onto Annabeth’s wrist and promising to stay with her for life, dangling off that little ledge over an unknown, possibly endless void below them. Because he would rather die a slow, painful death than to live in a world without her.

Percy Jackson is different, Hazel realizes. A better different. He isn’t a god. He’s human. A human with flaws, but somehow, in all the right ways, that’s what makes him perfect. Hazel Levesque loves Percy Jackson—not in a romantic way. But platonically, as a brother, as a role model; she strives to be like him. He’s her role model. When she is in a desperate situation, one where she may find herself weak or the world pointless, Hazel Levesque remembers Percy Jackson: his bravery and loyalty. Suddenly, she finds herself strong again.

So maybe haunted isn’t the right word. The scene is engraved into her mind for the rest of her life, but in both the worst and best way possible. It is her hope, her motivation, her love, that keeps her going, all for this one moment when she thought the world would come crumbling down. And when she sees him come from the Doors of Death, she smiles blissfully, and her very first thought is, Of course. Of course he made it.

Solangelo as LGBTQ Rep and Possible Issues

I do not represent the LGBT community because I’m sure a variety of LGBT fans would have various reactions to Solangelo. As a shy, bisexual person myself, I’ll speak only for myself.

I’ve noticed some people praising Solangelo for being positive LGBTQ rep and then others thinking it doesn’t deserve the praise. I can see both sides. 

I think Solangelo overall is positive LGBTQ representation. It’s not perfect. I’m glad Rick made Nico gay. However, Solangelo has one huge problem. It actually kind of suffers from a sort of harmful gay trope. The trope isn’t nearly harmful enough to take away Solangelo’s positive representation, but it’s there. I’ll elaborate more on it at the end of this essay.

Here are things I’m mostly not bothered with that others are regarding Nico and Will’s LGBT rep. 

1. Nico being outed by cupid. The infamous Cupid scene made me uncomfortable, and seeing Nico forced out of the closet hit too close to home. I could relate to a young teen struggling to accept the truth about himself. Some LGBTQ characters in media appear in an amazing LGBTQ utopia that pretends LGBTQ individuals don’t have issues with self-acceptance. Heroes of Olympus doesn’t sugarcoat Nico’s issues, because the struggle can be real for some LGBTQ individuals. Yes, Nico was forced out the closet. But he was mainly forced out of the closet to himself. It was supposed to be some sort of emotional release and self-awakening. If he stays in denial, more harm than good will come out of it. What Cupid did was cruel and was supposed to be cruel. I’d have an issue with the scene if Nico was forced out of the closet in front of a group of people, but since he was only forced out in front of Jason and then Jason respectfully keeps Nico’s secret and supports him, I actually don’t have an issue with it.

2. Nico and Will constantly argue. Nico and Will argue since Blood of Olympus. Will is aggressive with Nico. I’ve mentioned this before in a previous essay; Will has to be aggressive because Nico is on the verge of death. Nico is about to disappear into the shadows and hasn’t properly taken care of himself in a long time. After not seeing Nico in months, Will must have been devastated seeing the state of Nico’s health and seeing Nico being so stubborn and anti-social about it. Will’s anger is justified, and Nico needs that push to start being healthy after so long. Nico’s anti-social and self-depreciation also probably frustrated Will. Nico thought no one wanted to be his friend and is going to leave Camp, so Will has to be assertive to convince Nico he is wanted. 

Nico and Will’ s bickering in Lost Oracle is more affectionate bickering. They have very different personalities, so they’re going to disagree and let it be known. They have more harmless and playful disagreements. It’s actually more cute, if anything. 

The only real issue I have with their arguments is in Blood of Olympus when Will snaps at Nico by claiming “Nobody at Camp Half-Blood ever pushed you away.” and “You pushed yourself away. If you’d get your head out of that brooding cloud of yours for once...”  The harmful implication of this statement is the dismissal of Nico’s real experiences of rejection and that if he’d just stop brooding he’d be happy. The implications are....unfortunate. Don’t get me wrong. Will likely lost his patience with Nico’s stubbornness after hearing Nico say he’s leaving Camp, likely never coming back. I understand Will’s devastation, especially since he wants to be Nico’s friend and knows others who do too.

 The statement isn’t problematic because Will simply said it. It’s a human to say hurtful things. Will is an exhausted teen who’s on the verge of losing Nico. The real problem is the book doesn’t acknowledge Will’s statement as harmful. Will doesn’t apologize or acknowledge how he was wrong. Will says it and then Nico suddenly agrees to stay at Camp, implying Nico’s isolation was brought completely on himself. Hypothetically, if Will acknowledges his mistakes later, like in Tower of Nero, then this unfortunate line is more forgivable. 

3. Nico has barely accepted himself. He’s not ready for a boyfriend. I’d accept this argument if Will and Nico started dating at the end of Blood of Olympus. Fortunately, they don’t. Nico doesn’t even acknowledge having feelings for Will to himself. It’s only implied. I find the many fanfictions having Will and Nico dating after Nico stays at the infirmary for three days unrealistic and rushed. But not this. Will and Nico aren’t a confirmed couple until Hidden Oracle, which happens months after Blood of Olympus. If Nico gets emotional healing and bonds with Will for months, it’s not unreasonable for them to be dating. Even their official relationship in Hidden Oracle seems pretty casual and low stress.

4. Will has Nico on a short leash. No Will doesn’t. After Blood of Olympus, when Will tries to save Nico’s life, Will isn’t controlling. He may tell Nico to be nicer or would bicker, but nothing  too overbearing. Will teases Nico for not calling him his boyfriend and doesn’t get angry when Nico shadow-travels in Hidden Oracle. Nico seems to want to be around Will on his own accord. He enjoys being around Will, hence the doctor’s note. 

5. Will “fixed” Nico and/or Nico became too dependent on Will. No, the reason Nico is happier in Hidden Oracle is because he has learned to accept himself and he has family and friends supporting him. Some of the most important loved ones for Nico include Hazel, Reyna, Jason, and the rest of the Seven. Blood of Olympus gives more focus and development to Reyna and Nico’s relationship than Nico and Will’s relationship. Will is the straw that broke the camels back, but it’s the accumulation of impactful events and support that gets Nico to happiness. Will helped, especially with Nico’s physical health. When Nico decides to stay at Camp Half-Blood, it’s likely he sees his home in Camp Half-Blood than Camp Jupiter. Bianca trusted Camp Half-Blood to take care of Nico. Nico and Will’s relationship did grow after Blood of Olympus, and Will’s support helps Nico, but there’s no indication of Will be Nico’s “fixer”. He’s just Nico’s friend and boyfriend.

Here’s an interesting argument I’ve been pondering.

Will can’t be both Nico’s doctor and his boyfriend. This argument interests me because if Will had a crush on Nico during Blood of Olympus, he maybe shouldn’t treat Nico as a patient. I’ve seen too many creepy fanfictions of Will using his authority as Nico’s doctor to get closer to Nico. However, Will likely is also the one who knows what’s best for Nico’s health. He’s a better healer even than Apollo. He may also be the only one who knows how save Nico from fading into the shadows in Blood of Olympus since Nico’s powers are unusual. Will’s emotional investment in Nico interferes with objectivity. Then again, Will may be emotionally invested with many people in Camp-Halfblood as well, and Will is the one with the best healing. Will’s doctor’s note for Nico to sit at the Apollo table does touch upon Will’s professional conflict of interest with Nico. It’s possible Will can keep it completely professional as Nico’s doctor since he’s a natural-born healer, but it’s relying on the good-faith of a teenager. 

It seems unfair to deprive Nico of the best medical care because Will is his boyfriend. Especially during the winter, it’s possible Kayla’s and Austin’s healing abilities are very inferior to Will’s. At the same time though, there’s conflicts of interest when Will has Nico as his patient. 

Here’s one issue I have in regards to Nico’s crush on Percy.

We don’t know how Nico gets over his crush on Percy. We’re never shown Nico’s POV until Blood of Olympus, so it’s very possible Nico goes through some self-realization after the Cupid scene. I find Nico’s dropped crush on Percy disappointing. I would have liked to see Nico admit there’s still some lingering, painful feelings towards Percy for a little while during Blood of Olympus. It would have been interesting seeing Nico accept the heartbreak and move on. Percy was Nico’s first love and someone who Nico invested in for years. House of Hades seems to imply there is still some lingering feelings, but then it’s dropped in Blood of Olympus, and Nico says to Percy “you’re not my type.” It’s lazy writing. It’s like Rick made Nico gay for Percy for that gay angst but then didn’t feel like following through. Nico’s crush on Percy affected Nico for years. How is it dropped within two books?!

The main issue I have with Solangelo

Their romance and relationship is hidden. Okay, if Will didn’t call Nico his boyfriend and Apollo didn’t gush over their relationship in Hidden Oracle, we wouldn’t know they’re in a romantic relationship. All their actions are completely platonic. I get that Nico’s probably not into PDA. I get romantic pet names may be too embarrassing for Nico. I get they may not want to flaunt their relationship. I get they may not want to hold hands. I get they’d want to keep their relationship private. I get they’re young. I get Nico doesn’t like being touched. I get Trials of Apollo is only from Apollo’s POV. That’s not the issue. 

What actions do they have that imply they’re boyfriends instead of friends? The most affectionate they’ve gotten is Nico resting his hand on Will’s shoulder, Will casually leaning on Nico before the three-legged race, or Nico grabbing Will’s hand once to shadow-travel to the chariot. There’s not really any tiny romantic actions. There’s no clear romantic flirting, loving gazes, hand squeezes, hugs, legs touching, footsies, kisses on the head, or hugs. Only a couple of these small romantic actions are all that’s necessary. Nico and Will don’t have to go as far as kissing and cuddling. The relationship gets brownie points for using the label "boyfriend”, but then homophobes don’t have to be squeamish about two guys getting even a tiny bit of romantic affection. It’s too easy to censor the explicit gayness of their relationship because there’s not much to possibly censor. 

Their absent romantic affection is only half of it though. Another major problem is Solangelo is only in two books. Even when they’re in those two books, their relationship doesn’t get a lot of scenes. In Blood of Olympus, Will and Nico work together and bicker during the battle against Gaia. It’s heartwarming, but they don’t even meet up until more than halfway into the book. In Hidden Oracle, Nico and Will are only in a handful of scenes, and many of these moments are brief. When Will and Nico are shown, they have chemistry. They clearly care and support each other. But this groundbreaking relationship of theirs doesn’t have much. Will is the son of Apollo, and, not including Tower of Nero for now, only appears in Hidden Oracle during Trials of Apollo. Why does Will Solace only appear in 1 (2 including Tower of Nero) books in Trials of Apollo even though his dad is the main character? We don’t know. He could be strong LGBTQ rep with a boyfriend, but....nope. 

The same-sex ships get tiny crumbs, and then you’ve got all these straight ships shown and developed in more than two or three books. I’m worried Solangelo is falling under the “But Not Too Gay” trope, where an author wants a gay couple for representation credit, but then won’t give them the same appreciation as straight couples.  

Don’t get me wrong. I’d much rather have Nico be gay, and I’d much rather have Solangelo be a couple. I think their relationship is wholesome, and what’s shown of them has positive representation. I don’t find Nico’s LGBTQ representation too problematic. It’s just sort of....missing something important that could make it really positive. For what it’s worth, I appreciate the Solangelo crumbs, and it meant a lot to me growing up.

A/N: Shoutout to that really basic title! I promise the fic is better than that XD I’m currently on vacation in Jasper (we drove, I live five hours away, and there hasn’t been a single case in the resort we’re staying at so don’t @ me on this), so I managed to find the time to write since this is literally just a relax and do nothing type of vacation. So it’s kind of stated in the fic, but this takes place in The Titan’s Curse, and the reader is a year younger than Percy (so like 12???). As well, I decided on making the reader his little sister because I haven’t done a sibling fic before and thought it would fit. Hope you enjoy :)

Y/N's mortal family already hated her for being a demigod. When she found the courage to come out as bisexual to them, they wrote it off. Not that she expected much, but Y/N didn't think she'd get written off as a lesbian when she began dating a girl. They were even worse about that, ultimately causing Y/N to become a year rounder at Camp Half-Blood.  

The school year was lonely, being the only member of the Poseidon cabin. She wished her brothers were there to distract her from her anxiety, and to comfort her when she couldn't sleep. The rest of the campers were kind to her, but it wasn't the same. Percy and Tyson were the two she trusted the most.  

That being said, Y/N couldn't find herself able to come out to Percy. When he arrived at camp during winter break, she immediately felt nervous when she saw him. He was upset that Annabeth was captured, and no one seemed to take it as seriously as he did. Y/N felt as though this wasn't a good time to say anything to him, especially because she wasn't prepared for the possible biphobia from her brother.  

It kept her up nearly every night for the whole break. She Iris Messaged Tyson to come out to him, who was accepting once she explained to him what it meant, but she was still scared to come out to Percy. Especially with her knowing this young, she wasn’t sure how he'd react to that. Y/N wasn't prepared to hear "it's just a phase" by someone she deeply admired and loved.

When Percy came back, her insomnia worsened. It had gotten to the point where she couldn't find a comfortable position in bed and kept tossing and turning hopelessly. It wasn't until she started crying from frustration one night that Percy got out of his bed and sat on the edge of her own. "What's wrong?"  

"It's nothing," she shifted so she faced away from her brother.  

"You haven't slept in days, Y/N," he said, keeping his voice even. "From what I know, not even an impending war can keep you lying awake all night multiple nights in a row."  

"It's about my mortal family." She explained, too tired to fight with him. "It's bad enough they hate me for being a demigod."

"What did they do?" Percy's jaw tightened. Y/N stayed silent, clutching the comforter tightly. She wasn't sure what to say, or even how to word it. Percy was stubborn, and Y/N knew that he wouldn't leave her alone until she talked to him about everything.  

He put a comforting hand on her shoulder, hoping that it would help ease whatever anxieties she felt. Percy was worried about his sister, and he hated seeing her this upset. One thing he knew was that he had to wait for her talk because she wouldn't speak to him for days if he pushed her to open up.  

Y/N took a shaky breath before sitting up to face her brother, and before she knew it she was recalling everything that happened in the past few months. She skirted around her sexuality, not wanting to get into that at one in the morning. Unfortunately for Y/N, Percy could tell she wasn't telling him the full story. Some things didn't add up.  

He had a good guess of what she left out and asked her to be sure. "Y/N, are you bi?"

She nodded as tears streamed down her face. Percy held her close as she let out all the bottled up emotions, terrified to look at him in the eye. Because it was so late, she didn't process Percy trying to comfort her as she cried. All Y/N could think was that Percy hated her and that he wished she wasn't his sibling. That she must be one or the other, and can't like both genders.  

To her surprise, his reaction was the exact opposite. Once the tears stopped, she finally realized the hug he wrapped her in and pulled away to look at him in the face. His sea-green eyes glowed in the moonlight that streamed through the windows, and they were filled with empathy. "Wait... you don't hate me?"

"No one chooses who they love," Percy told her. "I'm bi, too. I know how scary it is to come out. I was extremely worried about my Mom not accepting me but when I finally had the courage to say something, she told me it didn't matter."

"She's pretty smart," Y/N let out a relieved laugh, wiping the tears from her face.  

"Yeah, she is," Percy smiled. "And hey, if anyone gives you flack for being bisexual, they’ll have to answer to me."  

"I can take care of myself." Y/N grumbled.  

"Yes, and?" He laughed at his sister. "Aren't big siblings supposed to protect the younger ones no matter what?"

"Yeah, yeah." She rolled her eyes. Y/N yawned involuntarily and flopped back onto her bed so she was laying down. Suddenly she felt significantly more comfortable and nestled into the sheets. "Go back to bed, we'll talk more in the morning."

"Goodnight, Y/N," Percy stood up and got back into his bunk. "I love you."

"You're okay."

Mattie was young but she loved him and they were married quickly. She even blessed him with a son within a year of their marriage, twins two years laters, and two more within the span of five years. Unfortunately, Mattie only ever felt comfortable in her shifted form when pregnant, and developed a case of hypershift extraordinarily young. Sam had barely come to terms with it when the other Board Members ordered her to be put down. The only one who tried to stand with him was Eliza, but they were ultimately overruled by the others and the law. Clara ultimately fulfilled the sentence and killed her 4 years ago. Sam has had to pour all his love for Mattie into their children in order to keep hanging on.

Patrick Perry (Best Friend): Patrick has been a good friend of his for decades, and is like an uncle to his kids. They hang out nearly every weekend as well as every holiday, and he considers him to be his closest confidante. It was Patrick who stopped him from attacking Clara after Mattie’s death and the one who has kept him pushing through. His kids refer to Patrick as Uncle Pat.

Eliza Meyers (Good Friend): Eliza has consistently been the only one in his corner. She was close to Mattie and introduced the two, and he doesn’t know where his life would have been without her. They work together in real estate and in the boardroom, playing off of one another’s strengths and supporting the other’s weaknesses. His kids refer to Eliza as Auntie El or Aunt Eliza.

Taye Black (Friend): Taye has a no nonsense personality that Sam enjoys. Taye can easily drop friendships and fire personnel without a blink of an eye; which Sam admires. They both share the job as clan heavies liaison. While Sam deals with the local supernatural clans, Taye focuses on finding and placing matches for endangered heavies or for those who are willing to have hybrids.

Asa Fields (Old Friend): Asa and Sam grew up as brothers, and stayed like that. He never seemed to have the same issues with Asa as he did Clara, despite them being raised the same. However, he does think Asa has no claim to any council seat, or at least not a legitimate one. He’s hoping that by getting Asa to attempt to overthrow his sister, he’d willingly hand off the responsibilities of head to Sam, and live out the rest of his life doing whatever. Hostile Connections:

Clara Fields (Hate): Clara and Sam grew up like siblings; both nearly the same age and constantly around one another. However, as they grew up the differences between the Fields and Sterlings became obvious. The Fields had best picks of lands and businesses and were starting to make their money hand over fists. They also had final say on every issue, as was mandated by the agreement, and were using it to their benefit. Eventually the wealth of the Fields began to trickle down to them until they were in as good of a position, and Sterling forced a vote to create joint businesses, whose money was pooled and equally distributed to the Board Members. Things began to settle into something comfortable and profitable for all when Garland kicked the bucket. Sterling and the other leaders assumed it was finally his time, but Clara took up the helm and snatched power before anyone else could call for a fair fight. Sterling died not too long after from Hypershift and Sam took his spot. Then started the constant back and forth between the two of them. Always, always opposed, Clara and Sam began a dance of intrigue and backstabbing, trying to get the other to falter. Then the economy collapsed and Real Estate died in its tracks. Clara and the rest of them were bleeding money and had no place to turn. She thought of the vampires and came back with an offer of their blood. Initially they all refused, but had no other options. Either let their clan dissolve or sacrifice what they needed to. He was the first person to stand behind her and support the call. He regrets it to this day, and it’s his main reason for wanting her out of the Leader’s seat. He has been working for decades to plant seeds of doubt into the various members of their clan, so when he takes over it’s well received.

Michael Johansen (Hate): Michael was the leader of the Alaska clan who merged with their clan a few months ago. Their numbers were too low to sustain themselves and the Chicago clan was the only one that had the most potential matches. As soon as Sam met Michael, he had an air around him that reminded him of  Clara’s father, Garland Fields. Sam has been on defense around him and doesn’t trust Michael one bit.

Scorpius Getta (Hate): Scorpius Getta made a blood deal with them in exchange for money during the Great Recession. They needed to stay afloat so the entire Board agreed to it. They assumed they could pay him back the loan with interest, but he just wants money. In his dreams, Sam kills Getta and all his cronies.

Petra Chak (Hate): She enjoys the humiliation of the board members as they go down to have their blood drained. She’d be the one he’d kill if he had a chance to, after Getta.

Ezra Schultz (Hate): He expected Ezra to be on his side, and was shocked that he ruled to have her killed. His archaic ideas of “justness” are ridiculous and shouldn’t be used when lives are at stake.

Hollis Sony (Hate): Hollis stabbed him in the back when she voted that Mattie had to die. She’d always been on Clara’s side and he thought she might have sympathy for him, but was proven very wrong. He’ll never forgive her.

Nico can barely keep the horrors of Tartarus contained, and tells his stories of what happened in Tartarus. Surviving it was hard enough, but reliving it may prove to destroy him once and for all.

Jason and Nico are best friends, and they live together in an apartment that is in the same building as the rest of the 7 also live. The beginning of the story is basically Jason helping Nico with nightmares, panic attacks, among other things. But there comes a time when Nico tells Jason what happened in Tartarus, and a horrible creature comes back to haunt them. The thing is, Nico doesn't like Jason romantically, because he still loves Percy, this story revolves around Nico's love for Percy, but it's one-sided, because Percy dates Annabeth, but a creature comes back to attack them discreetly, and mess with it. This story is not really about Jasico, there are only a few things at the end. This story is basically about one-sided love, among other things, especially this creature.)
