which somehow brings me onto my next point!!! contrary to common belief, these babies are actually very intelligent, not only in terms of volleyball but also in their academics. and i mean all four of them, not just iwa! every! single! one! 

each of them has a particular subject they excel in and they essentially, you know . share the brain cells . but in a smart way 

(don’t get me wrong, they’re school smart and volleyball smart, but they lack logic and any semblance of regret. it leads to chaos and way too many detentions.)

tooru adores literature and history and probably spends his spare time reciting dramatic monologues in his mirror. also can and will talk your ear off about the different literary movements and how they reflect events in history. wears his glasses so he can pretend to be an expert, chatting away about his field of work fucking nerd lmao

mattsun is a chemistry and physics whizz but for the life of him cannot understand biology because “tHERE’S TOO MANY BODY PARTS I DON’T WANT TO KNOW ABOUTTTT”

Seijoh headcanons bc they’re my fav team

This entire team is like really good friends

They’re over at each other’s houses all the time

Kunimi will just walk into Mattsun’s house and make toast and leave, all while Mattsun is making coffee. They don’t say a word to each other

Oikawa’s house is home base because his parents are really nice but they also both work so sometimes the house is empty and that’s nice

He also has a pool and when they’re over on the weekends, Oikawa’s parents love it bc they love hosting sm

They’re all so protective of each other despite the shit they give each other

Despite having crushes on Iwa, Kyoutani and Kindaichi Do Not talk about it amongst themselves

Oikawa knows but Iwa doesn’t and the rest of the third years think it’s really funny

Makki and Mattsun are offended that no one has a crush on them and when Kindaichi overhears them complaining ab this, he Helpfully gives them really sincere compliments that are kind of unnecessary and he immediately acts like he didn’t say anything

Makki and Mattsun don’t say anything for the rest of practice because What The Fuck do you say to that

At first, Kunimi and Kindaichi were actually really distant from the team and didn’t like talking to their upperclassmen bc they weren’t used to such a close team

This isn’t Kageyama slander I love him but they’re still mad at him in their first year

But they dont rly talk to anyone on the team for a bit until training camp at Seijoh and IwaOi pulls them aside and they have as much of a heart-to-heart as either sides can handle (which isn’t much more than “you can talk to us ab anything, so if there’s anything bothering you etc….”) it’s so fucking awkward and IwaOi starts bickering halfway through

But it does the trick. They don’t talk ab anything but they start to make more of an effort to talk to the rest of the team (read: the third years refuse to let them not be apart of the team)

Did their team egg Shiratorizawa dorms? Possibly. Did they all only throw like one egg apiece bc they were scared and just wanted to get out of there because it was a Bad Idea? Definitely

Seijoh may be like one of the best schools in the prefecture, but they literally don’t have any teams that they’re buddy-buddy with

Karasuno has Date Tech and Nekoma, and Seijoh is out here just on their self-made ice berg bc other teams either think they’re weird or mean

They’re just too competitive for a healthy rivalry

The coaches hate them for this

Oikawa never really made his team exercise as punishment (unless the coaches made them do it) but Yahaba is a Big Fan of just telling anyone “Laps” as captain

To your absolute dismay, chocolate eyes met yours as you spin back around quickly, heart hammering in your chest after seeing that Oikawa had smiled immediately at the sight of you. 

“...he saw you, didn’t he?” Kiyoko whispers as you nod, saying your prayers as the game finally ends. You flinch when Suga’s voice sounds behind you, the players all gathering around for towels and water as you sheepishly turn back around for the umpteenth time. 

“What’s with you, oh wonderful sibling of mine?” Suga quips, handing you one of the few juices in the cooler as you laugh, a bit too loudly before poking the hole with the straw. 

“Nothing. Good job win-huh?” Your eyes widen when you see that the score gap had been lessened drastically, Karasuno just barely pulling ahead by a few points as pride flutters in your stomach at your boyfriend’s doing. 

“Ugh, I’m tired.” Suga collapses next to you, leaning his head on your shoulder as you go to shove him off. 

“You didn’t even play-” 

“Just shut up and let me sleep.” 

“Y/N, what do you wanna eat-?” Daichi begins to question, before a voice so familiar sounds that almost has you running out of your seat, not prepared at all. 

“You came with the team to see me, Y/N-chan?” Oikawa’s head pops up between Kageyama and Tsukishima, easy grin faltering at the sight of your brother’s head on your shoulder. 

Oh this would not end well at all. 

“Y/N...chan...?” Suga lifts his head, eyes questioning as he turns to you. “You know him?” 

“I’d appreciate it if you weren’t so buddy-buddy with my girlfriend, you a classmate of hers?” Oikawa tilts his head, grinning with no kindness behind it as you put your face in your hands. 

You can feel Suga’s burning stare as you escape to hide behind a sighing Kiyoko, the entire Karasuno team on edge as Sugawara rises to his feet, holding a hand out to your boyfriend with a matching grin. 

“Try her brother.” 

Oikawa’s face falls, and in any other situation, you would have laughed. 

“You...have a brother?” 

“You’re dating the setter of Seijoh?!” 

“Ladies please, not all at once.” You attempt to joke, Tanaka the only one to throw his head back in laughter as Kiyoko stifles a laugh into her palm. 

“Okay, yes to both of you.” You go to stand next to Oikawa with a sigh, looping your arm with his before offering a sheepish smile. The cat was out of the bag, anyways. “Everyone, meet Oikawa Tooru, my acquaintance-”

“Her boyfriend. Pleasure to meet everyone!” Oikawa corrects as you nudge him, the setter moving to interlace your fingers with his before pulling you to his side, eyes narrowing at the sight of Kageyama. 

“Nice to see you again, Kageyama-Kun.” 

You sigh at the fact that there was more tension between him and his junior than there was with your brother before swatting Oikawa in the side, him whining before pouting at you. 

“Do you even love me?!” 

“Of course I do...don’t. Of course I don’t.” You falter at the hardened gazes of both Daichi and Suga as Tsukishima whistles lowly, enjoying the drama as Yamaguchi nudges him in disapproval. 

The silence that settles isn’t a pretty one as Oikawa chuckles a tad nervously, kissing your cheek before spinning on his heel. 

“I’ll take you out after this-?” 

“She’ll be eating with us, thanks though.” Daichi cuts him off as you groan, mouthing a yes behind his back before Oikawa’s lips stretch into a half-smile before nodding once to your brother. He waves backwards as he walks off to his team. 

You smile in thanks to both Hanamaki and Matsukawa who were both sending sorry stares to you while Iwaizumi rightfully hit Oikawa upside the head for his stupidity, scolding him about telling him not to as Oikawa whines. 

“So,” 

You hide even further behind Kiyoko with a I can explain kind of smile fills your features as Suga crosses his arms, the entire Karasuno team looking at you in accusation. Your brother’s lips stretch into a kind smile as he tilts his head, Daichi and Kageyama crossing their arms beside him. 

“You have a lot of explaining to do.” 

“Before or after my date with my hot setter boyfriend-”

-you and hinata have been dating for about four months

-you’ve heard everything to a t, including small little remarks from tsukishima to every toss, kill, and miss your boyfriend and kageyama managed

-side note but it’s so cute this boy is so whipped for you if you don’t respond for a certain amount of time he’ll find some dumb excuse to talk to suga just so he can shift the convo to making sure you’re safe

-so you’re going to meet suga finally

-like FINALLY you’re so excited

-suga walks in before you and you follow shortly after, holding in a sharp breath.

-there he was. standing on the other side of the gym, talking to who you knew as kageyama

-he hadn’t seen you yet, but other member of karasuno had

-”yoo who’s this hottie” bald, flirtatious, you had to assume its tanaka

-hinata was in the middle of jumping for a spike when he saw you, and he froze and fell to the ground, stumbling to keep his balance

-the gym got quiet at the tangerines reaction, but he was just staring at you.

-and then he was doing that “woosh” run he always told you about and before you knew it his arms were around your waist and his head was buried in your shoulder.

-everyone (literally EVERYONE) was looking at you two but you just laughed and placed a hand in his hair (which, holy fuck, is soft)

-you mouthed an apology to suga and he shrugged you off, and focused your attention back on the boy in front of you

he pulled back just enough to look at you, leaving his hands to rest on your back. his eyes were filled with tears (cute) and he offered you a smile.

“you’re here” his voice was quiet, for once, but it didn’t have any lag this time. and it was so fucking beautiful.

“i’m here.” you nodded, eyes scanning the features of his face. he chuckled lightly, a tear falling to his cheek as he shook his head.

“you’re so pretty.” his voice was watery and he moved his head back in your shoulder before you could utter a compliment back.

-he stayed attached to you for like minutes okay and this man completely ignored the teasing of his classmates.

-eventually you tried to pull him off you so he could get on with practice (and so you could watch him practice) but he refused to get off

Hi Violet, I just saw your blog on my dash – I was wondering if you had headcanons for Seijoh 3rd years (Oikawa, Iwaizumi, Makki, Mattsun) for what they would do with their S/O on a beach? Love your writing sm, good luck with the blog 💖

🏊‍♂️ Oikawa Tooru

He would be the one to insist going to the beach. Oikawa loves the sea. Sometimes he would even bring his nephew with you and would take A LOT of photos.

He’s almost like a child (even Takeru acts more mature than him). You would go to the beach and Oikawa would immediately rush into the water totally forgetting about sunscreen.

Oikawa is extremely sweet. He would invite you and Takeru to swim together but Oikawa can’t swim to save his life. One time he almost drowned while trying to look cool and show off to you. Since then you acquired the habit to look after him. You even make him wear Takeru’s swim ring around his waist. At first he refused but then he almost drowned again and got really scared it might happen one more time.

Oikawa loves playing in the water! It’s so much fun spending a day at the beach with him. When you’re all hungry he goes to get ice cream and some snacks. He loves when you make sandwiches at home for beach day. You think it’s just a simple sandwich... nothing much... but for Oikawa is the most delicious meal! Especially after you’re all tired from playing and hot and you want something in your tummy.

Oikawa teaches Takeru volleyball even at the beach. You like the fact that he’s very gentle. He also teaches you and you all play together. Some people even mistaken you as Takeru’s parents. This little boy loves you (sometimes Oikawa thinks he loves you more than him).

Your boyfriend is very dramatic. He loves the sea but once he sees seaweed or a bug he would rush back to where your towels and umbrella are. On the other hand Takeru is very brave and likes pranking his uncle. He would pick up seaweed just to throw it at Oikawa’s face. If Oikawa is chilling on his towel Takeru would pour a whole bucket of water over him.

You have a lot of fun watching those two play. Making sandcastles is a tradition! You make it into a competition and you always give the first place to Takeru. Oikawa is a bit petty because he thinks his sandcastles are way better and deserve to win.

After the long day spent at the beach you’re all exhausted but very happy and still energized from all the fun. And Oikawa is always sunburnt because he forgets to put on sunscreen. He can’t walk straight or sit normally for the next couple of weeks.

🌊 Iwaizumi Hajime

Iwaizumi always gets mistaken for a lifeguard. Everywhere he goes people would look at him. He’s like a Greek God. He swims very well and every time you go to the beach he tries to teach you how to swim. You have hard time doing it but it’s always fun and Iwaizumi appreciates your hard work. He encourages you and holds you so you’ll stay calm. He won’t let go of you be sure of that!

Sometimes the sand is way too hot and you can’t even step on it. Don’t worry because Iwaizumi would just lift you and carry you all the way to your towel.

Because he looks like a lifeguard there always are little girls who fall in love with him and pretend to drown so that he’ll save them. (I don’t know if you’ve watched ‘Surf’s Up’ but it’s something like that)

Iwaizumi brings a lot of food to the beach. He helps you put on sunscreen and makes sure you are always sun protected because he knows very well what happens if you forget your sunscreen (*looks at Oikawa*).

You both like staying at the beach until sunset. There aren’t any people at that hour and you enjoy your time together. You cuddle and sometimes stay a bit more to watch the stars. If it’s a special occasion Iwaizumi would bring a fancy meal that he made himself and a bottle of wine or champagne. It’s like a picnic at the beach.

⛱️ Hanamaki Takahiro

Hanamaki is always excited to go to the beach! He likes more crowded places with lots of restaurants and bars nearby because he never prepares any food.

You always play some kind of card or board games at the beach. A lot of the times you go together with Mattsun. Those two should not be separated! You make a lot of bets and challenge each other to do dumb stuff. With Makki you always manage to meet new people. You play volleyball with them or invite them over to play board games with you.

Makki loves trying out the food in new restaurants and that’s what you also do at the beach. Hanamaki is the type of person who would lift you up just to throw you back in the water. He likes to tease you. But you get your revenge. You always try to push him into the sea. However sometimes he manages to grab your hand so you both end up falling. You pretend to be angry at him but you love every moment you spend together.

While you’re in the car (going to the beach or leaving) you always play that one CD with summer/car songs and sing as if you’re in a Disney musical. If you see something interesting along the way you pull over and take hundreds of pictures. It’s always fun with Hanamaki at the beach.

🍹 Matsukawa Issei

Like I mentioned Makki and Mattsun should not be separated so you always invite him to come with you. He knows that you both should spend some time together just the two of you so he declines your offer from time to time. When he comes though he always has a lot of activity ideas.

You and Matsukawa spend a lot of time sunbathing. You like chilling on you towels, have a cold drink and discuss stuff. You also enjoy watching other people at the beach and imagining what their life must be like. You both are like the beach gossipers.

‘See that guy? It looks like he’s going to talk to that girl.’

‘Oh yeah... I saw him looking at her for the past hour and a half.’

You just sit there while talking a sip of your drinks.

‘Oh no... she rejected him.’

‘Well... wouldn’t you do the same if you were her?’

Sometimes you get too sassy and have literally no chill but you’re doing it only for fun. You love laughing together. Both of you like bringing dumb teen magazines and make fun of the stuff that are written there.

When you actually go in the sea you always try to see where is the furthest you can go without drowning. Mattsun is there to help you and make sure you’re alive. He doesn’t want anything bad to happen to you so he’s extremely caring. After that though he would splash water at your face.

After the beach he always helps you wash your hair because we all know how tiring (and impossible) it is to get seaweed and sand out of you hair.

Every time Matsukawa turns on the air-conditioner because he still feels the heat from the day. If you get cold he would cuddle you with a blanket.

- When you’ve heard of the concept of soulmates at school you were 8, you practically glowed with delight thinking that you probably have one of your own. Probably also thinking that it was ‘very easy’ to ‘feel’ if your soulmate was nearby.

- Lmao you believed that there was some sorta radar of something, or a bell that will go off if your soulmate moved

- But boy were you wrong 

- Then came your 16th birthday, the day you were supposed to have your mark that will give you a glimpse of what your soulmate likes in general. And on your 17th birthday, had you still not have found them, another mark will appear on your dominant hand

- You were imagining their symbol to be some sort of representation of who they are as a person, their inspirations in life, their dream career, and all that motivational shit

- And with that, he turned away to go inside the gym once again

- “Cassiopeia..” you muttered loud enough for him to hear as he passed by you

- “Sorry?”, he stopped in his tracks and turned to you with a shocked look on his face

- “Cassiopeia” you repeated once more, with a shaky voice. “It’s the constellation on your hand, right?”

- Oikawa, with his popularity, had been approached by plenty of his admirers, often claiming that they love astronomy and that they knew what kind of constellation his mark bears

- But when he asked them with his usual flirty voice he perfected to please the people around him, that person stammers and just said a random planet of some sort

- So when you uttered the correct kind of constellation, he was frozen

- His mind ran miles per second, all of it consisting of ‘what ifs’ and ‘too good to be true’

- Both of you stared at each other, heart’s unknowingly beating as fast as the other

- “Iwa-chan, take charge for me will you?”

- “What? Coach’ll get mad you know!”

- Iwaizumi stalked closer to you guys and was prepared to beat Oikawa’s ass off but before he could assault his lame best friend,

- The buff ace froze in his actions and promptly nodded silently and closed the gym doors

- The bestfriends talked before about what they’d do if they found their respective soulmates. Iwaizumi proclaimed that it was rather childish of Oikawa to have a ‘secret code’  just because his nerdy best friend believed that the aliens might take away his soulmate once they finally find them

The first time you ask him is when you’re doing your own make-up and suddenly you imagine how great he’d look

“You should totally let me put make-up on you someday”, you’d say, applying a clean layer of mascara before applying your lashes

He’d instantly stiffen up, blood rising to his cheeks

“N-No!! Why would I want that? I’m not a girl.”

You realize this is a great way of teasing him

So, every day, you end up at some point or another asking him if you could put make-up on him

About the third day in, you’re pouting and looking up at him through your lashes and your lips have just a thin layer of chapstick on and they shine so prettily and--

He finds himself agreeing to whatever you’re saying without even realizing what he’s just nodded to

That’s how you end up chilling to some music in your bedroom while waiting for your facemasks to dry

Skin health is important!!

At first, he won’t admit it, but he kind of finds it relaxing? 10/10 would do it again

But then!!

After you’ve done everything to take care of his skin, you start applying primer, then get started on the eyeshadow

He’s STIFF AS A BOARD when you’re applying everything it’s hilarious

“Look up!” “I can’t!”

The finished look has him with a turquoise crease and outer eye, the inner eye being a glittery white, of course with black eyeliner and the biggest lashes you have

Honestly?? He can pull it off

By the time you’re done and you show him the result, he’s looking in the mirror like ??? Who is this??? asgfdxs he looks so different

He lets you take ONE(1) picture and that’s it

You do your own make-up and now you match and, honestly, even though he’s not a make-up guy, seeing your face light up when you see his made-up face is honestly above every single “manly” principle of his

Honestly the first time Kunimi hears that you want to put make-up on him he’s not impressed

But it’s not an outright no

“Why would you want to do that?”

“Because you’re very handsome, but I think with make-up you could be really pretty as well!”

Is he blushing? Maybe just slightly. But inside he’s going ???? She thinks I’m handsome???? :O

Once you reassure him that you’re not going to be doing Instagram make-up on him and just something subtle to accentuate his features, he’s all for it

He’s shrugging but you know he’s sort of curious

I’ve always seen Kunimi as slightly feminine? So I think that he’d look bomb as HELL with make-up on

You’d gently pull his hair back, just now realizing what great bone structure he has? This isn’t fair

You’d moisturize his skin, gently adding concealer, contour, blush, highlight (he doesn’t need foundation I’m sorry Kunimi having clear skin is canon asdgf), slightly contouring his eyebrows

You’d finish with eyeliner sharp enough to cut a bitch and some light mascara

I think he straightens his hair, so you’d probably do that for him too

When you show him the finished look, he sort of likes it?

No, fuck that - He loves it

He looks so ethereal? He’s gorgeous? Oikawa is quaking

You’re blushing like crazy because you didn’t expect him to pull off make-up that well

He doesn’t think he would start doing make-up on himself regularly, but he really likes it and he might ask you to do it again sometime

You sneakily take a picture of him and send it to Oikawa and you instantly get a reply

“Why does he look prettier than me 😭😭😭”

Seijoh headcanons bc they’re my fav team

This entire team is like really good friends

They’re over at each other’s houses all the time

Kunimi will just walk into Mattsun’s house and make toast and leave, all while Mattsun is making coffee. They don’t say a word to each other

Oikawa’s house is home base because his parents are really nice but they also both work so sometimes the house is empty and that’s nice

He also has a pool and when they’re over on the weekends, Oikawa’s parents love it bc they love hosting sm

Kyoutani surprisingly has a rly close family and his mom is like so nice?? And no one gets it

Kindaichi and Kunimi didn’t know what to expect from Seijoh and definitely weren’t expecting this chaotic mess of a team that can get serious when they need to

Seijoh seriously is like the perfect mix of chaos and like determination and they really like how everyone thinks their team is so scary and just 😼😠 when really they’re just an on-fire house

This team cannot be nice to each other for anything

They constantly insult each other while simultaneously making each other better

Practices are relatively tame

Except for the drama

Because most of the team is gay and dating each other, there is so much drama to get to that point

Kyouhaba get into fights constantly and Yahaba Scares them

The only people who “insult” Oikawa are the other third years at first

But then Yahaba starts doing it too and the first time he says something everyone falls quiet except Iwa, Mattsun, and Makki who are laughing their asses off

Kunimi will make fun of anyone on their team

But the minute someone insults his teammates he goes feral

They’re all so protective of each other despite the shit they give each other

They learned this from Iwa

Kunimi and Yahaba become friends once they realize that they both lowkey have crushes on Oikawa

Despite having crushes on Iwa, Kyoutani and Kindaichi Do Not talk about it amongst themselves

Oikawa knows but Iwa doesn’t and the rest of the third years think it’s really funny

Makki and Mattsun are offended that no one has a crush on them and when Kindaichi overhears them complaining ab this, he Helpfully gives them really sincere compliments that are kind of unnecessary and he immediately acts like he didn’t say anything

Makki and Mattsun don’t say anything for the rest of practice because What The Fuck do you say to that

At first, Kunimi and Kindaichi were actually really distant from the team and didn’t like talking to their upperclassmen bc they weren’t used to such a close team

This isn’t Kageyama slander I love him but they’re still mad at him in their first year

But they dont rly talk to anyone on the team for a bit until training camp at Seijoh and IwaOi pulls them aside and they have as much of a heart-to-heart as either sides can handle (which isn’t much more than “you can talk to us ab anything, so if there’s anything bothering you etc….”) it’s so fucking awkward and IwaOi starts bickering halfway through

But it does the trick. They don’t talk ab anything but they start to make more of an effort to talk to the rest of the team (read: the third years refuse to let them not be apart of the team)

favorite characters to write for + why: the seijoh four. not only am i biased, but the dynamics of their relationships are so fun to portray and explore. i just find a lot of depth in their characters that i like to write about more so than some others
