Hello! Can I request some headcanons for Qiu, Tamarack and Cove with overall Rebelious and mean MC who has a soft spot for them, but tries really hard to hide their feelings?

In the beginning, he’d be a bit intimidated by your attitude.

He might’ve avoided you when he first arrived in Sunset Bird , already making the judgment that you wouldn’t be that pleasant to be around.

That's until he meets you!

Cove noticed that you were much more softer and nicer with him than most people.

You wouldn’t be mean to him like you were with people who you weren’t as close with

And you would avoid rebelling or breaking rules when he was around to make sure he didn’t get in trouble for it.

Of course, you were still you. But with Cove around you were mellow.

Your moms notice how quickly your demeanor changes when he is in the general area.

One minute you could be telling somebody off and then the next you would be hugging Cove and asking him how his day was and if he wanted to get a snack later.

Cove would worry that you might get into serious trouble one day, which you reassured that you wouldn’t.

Depending on what comfort level Cove is: Cold, Medium, or Warm; this might just work for the two of you.

Cold Cove wouldn’t mind as much since he isn’t that social and rather be in your company anyway. Not that he is condoning it.

Medium Cove is a bit more awkward and less defined, he doesn’t want people to be put off and avoid you.

Warm Cove is probably the most understanding, he understands that's just how you are. If you didn’t like being nice to strangers then so be it, if you didn’t want to follow some rule then that's ok. Warm Cove would encourage you to be more social though, he wants you to have friends.

Cove appreciates that you are softer to him though, I don’t think he could handle you being genuinely mean to him.

You and Cove have fun though, It's a interesting contrast to see the two of you together.

Like a yin and yang.

QIU LIN🗒️

Their reaction depends on what stage of their life they are in.

Step 1 Qiu might be the TINEST bit nervous, also worried that you might get into trouble or get on somebodies bad side with your behavior

Qiu, of course, is very welcoming and polite still. You may be mean to everybody else but you aren’t to them.

They get a little smug about how you are softer and seem to favor them more than most people.

Like Of course you like their company, Everyone does!

Qiu tries and get other people to see your softer side but you don’t put down your walls for them.

Qiu during Step 2, is a completely different story though.

They just go “same💀”

You two probably skip school all the time and it starts to get concerning and your parents start enforcing it more.

You two get into a bit of trouble…(mostly loitering, you two aren’t getting into anything serious lmao)

Qiu understands your attitude more the older they get. Sometimes some people don’t deserve your time and sometimes some people deserve your kindness

It's a self-preservation, At least that's how the two of you understand it.

While everybody else worries, you and Qiu are just chilling.

They like having someone around who can match their energy.

TAMARACK BAUMANN🍂

Step 1 Tamarack wouldn’t like you at first, Or at the very least be indifferent.

She would want you to be nice to everyone, not just her.

She does brag a bit that you are only softer towards her.

She also has a rebellious side as well, you two get into lots of shenanigans together and cause lots of mischief all the time.

Your mom and her grandparents def put leashes on you two.

It's always kiddy fun.

Once again, Step 2 is another story.

Based on her interaction with Qiu, If you were similar to being mean to others and causing trouble then she would be disappointed

But she’s less awkward around you and tries to encourage you to be more nice or at least a bit more sociable.

Tamarack knows that you can be one of the most softest and kindest people she knows, you’ve watched her back and been there when it got tough

And she wants people to see that rare side of you, but she understands that you are just not interested or in the mood to be nice or to follow rules.

Depending on how rebellious you are, even her grandparents may be wary. It was okay when you were kids but your old enough to get yourself and Tamarack into serious trouble.

On a more positive note, Tamarack still enjoys your company. Sure you aren’t that social but you would never say half the stuff you say to strangers to her.

You and Tamarack go out at night and clean graffiti and collect trash as a ‘reverse vandalism’ and you insult people who litter etc.

Tamarack one day does want to see a positive change in you , but for now it’s just the two of you.

I was thinking about Kailm and Kailm Yutu. How is their relationship after Yutu makes the jump into the past, did Yutu ever run into him before going into the past?

I know you mentioned Kalim wanting to help Yutu out when it comes to his feelings towards Yuu (not knowing that this is the only time he’s ever seen Yuu healthy and without memory loss) which is really of sweet❤️ also Jamil side eyeing the Yutu since they don’t know a lot about him

(he’s probably considered using his unique magic on him) I can also see Yutu being a mellowed out version of Kalim.

As we talked about here Kalim died long before Yutu ever got a chance to meet him, but he was spared the fate of becoming a blot phantom like most of the other boys. The Kalim his Yutu sees is a skeleton trapped in the robe of the Sorcerer of the Sands next to Jamil's, it's traumatic but by the time he gets there Yutu has seen a lot of death and destruction. Not that it dulls the pain any.

And one small note before we continue, Jamil states in Book 6 that his unique magic does not work like Jade's does, he cannot get people to tell him the truth by hypnotizing them, he just makes the suggestible to his orders. When he thought he hypnotized Azul in Book 4, he would not have been able to make him tell everything he knew about everyone on campus, but he would have been able to order him to open up his books so Jamil could take a look around. Jamil is decent enough at reading people's body's language to know that Yutu is interested in getting close to Kalim, and that's enough to make him suspicious and someone to watch out for.

Kalim! Yutu was the picture of an easy baby. He was almost always smiles and giggles from the day he was born, seldom fussy and went down for naps easy, Yuu got a lot of comments about how lucky they were for having such a sweet baby. He keeps that easy going temperament as he gets older and the compliments keep coming, but Yutu isn't exactly fond of them. If people really think he's such a sweet boy they can compliment him without insulting his parent.

A lot of Kalim's pushiness, from my perspective, comes from the environment in which he was raised. In the absence of servants and siblings, Yutu turns into a much quieter person. He's less like a party and more like a cafe in the afternoon, still busy and filled with noise but with a noticeably relaxing effect on his environment. His peers like him and their parents like him more, and though Yutu makes a point to be nice to everyone he is very picky about who he labels his friends.

To Kalim! Yutu, your amnesia and the strange pain you feel when trying to remember is a serious medical issue, and he doesn't have a lot of patience for people who dismiss other's problems just because they don't understand them. He appreciates the little things you can tell him about his dad, how he was genuinely loving and kind person, but he doesn't want to know about those things if it causes your condition to worsen when you try to remember. As he gets older he tries to actively shut down conversation about his dad because he doesn't want to deal with the consequences. He remembers those little anecdotes from when he was younger and holds on to them tightly, kind and loving it's generic but the soft look in your eyes suggests the quality was anything but. Yutu can live with that.

He's very passionate about food and drink. He's not exactly a great cook but he's very knowledgeable about coffee, teas, and wines. He is especially fond of coffee and likes roasting his own beans when he gets older. If Yuu like coffee then he constantly is trying to make you new drinks and if you don't then he'll try to find something he can make that you will enjoy. Even if that's just slicing up some fruits and adding them to a lemonade, though he might feel a bit sad at how little work that is compared to something else.

Less of a party person than Kalim, though that's not really saying much since it seems like he'd have a celebration every other day of the week if he could. Yutu likes to sing and dance, especially if he can do that with his friends, but he doesn't like a lot of the people he goes to school with in his world. When he arrives in Twisted Wonderland that changes somewhat. There might not be much to celebrate in the future but the people are worth their weight in gold. When he manages to track down all of his friends who came back to the past with him, he's definitely going to throw a party in Ramshackle. After he begs for permission of course.

Being transported to Twisted Wonderland scares Kalim! Yutu. Learning that his father was the heir to a powerful merchant family (not that they have much of that power or wealth anymore on account of the world ending) and that he is a mage of all things is a lot of responsibility he is not sure that he's prepared for. He is especially not prepared for the amount of in fighting that the al Asim family is doing, though he does have a bit of help from Grandpa Crewel and his aunt.

One of the o.c.s I came up with for this au was a younger sister for Kalim. The youngest of all his siblings to be specific, the name I gave her was Sehrish and her existence is not exclusive to Kalim! Yutu. She goes back in time with all of the other Yutus too, but she is especially close to Kalim! Yutu. They have the same struggle of wanting to honor Kalim's legacy, but being skeptical about the hatred a lot of the older family members have for Jamil. Sehrish was too young to really remember either Kalim or Jamil, but everyone she's talked to who actually bothered to get to know her older brother said that he never hated Jamil. Crewel especially was very blunt about how he saw the Asim family's treatment of Jamil and what it meant for him professionally, and Idia is very clear that no matter what might have happened while they were at NRC it had nothing to do with this current mess.

It's something that Yutu keeps in mind when he travels back in time, but fuck if he doesn't find Jamil scary. He swears if he stays too long in the same room with him he's going to end up confessing to everything. That he's from the future, that Kalim is his dad, that time he broke something really important and expensive of yours and buried it in the back yard instead of just owning up to it, and that Jamil is going to be executed by the al Asim's sometime in the future. Not that he does say any of that but it's on a constant loop in his head every time Jamil is around. Which tends to be when Kalim is also around which makes things so much worse.

Kalim really likes Yutu. Every time I sit down to write for him and take a look at his voice lines I am reminded of what a genuinely nice and loving person he is, and how much he really cares about Yuu. He's warm, and knowing a part of that warmth is what created you makes Yutu feel so overwhelmingly loved even though Kalim doesn't know who he is. Yutu's calmer kindness is something Kalim really admires and looks up to, he's trying to be more aware of how imposing he can be on people and he thinks Yutu is a great example of the balance he wants to reach.

"oh?" Yutu does not seem happy with the compliment, even if Kalim can tell he is pleased by it. "I appreciate you saying so, but I'm not sure if you'll pick up on what you want from watching me... perhaps this is something you could talk to Yuu about? I find that they often give very good advice."

"They do don't they?" But if Yutu really believes that then why is he so sad about it?

Kalim wants to make people happy. That's the entire reason he throws so many parties and why he is so willing to spend money on his friends. So when he sees that something about being around Yuu is making Yutu sad, he wants to know what he can do to help. Jamil picks up on this and tries to point out that it might be a very private thing and none of their business, which would be true under normal circumstances but Yutu's very much aren't. At first Kalim just tries to focus on getting to know Yutu and his hobbies while sharing his own. He invites him to Scarabia's parties and gets real excited when he sees how much Yutu knows about tea. That's really important in the Scalding Sands! He insists on teaching him all about what he knows and for him to talk to Jamil if he has any other questions. This is what finally gets Jamil to relax around Yutu because he sees how the kid goes out of his way to not make work for him, pretty much exactly like Yuu does, which is a good point in Jamil's book.

I like the idea of Kalim learning who Yutu is on accident, he has a lot of voice lines about offering to tie a head scarf for Yuu so I could see him maybe offering the same for Yutu. And given that Kalim can be a bit pushy maybe he doesn't listen to Yutu's protests and takes off the hood, giving him and Jamil a very good look at his face.

"Oh wow you kind of look like me, huh?!" Kalim laughs and sets about wrapping the scarf around Yutu's head, while Jamil stares at him in such stressed shock that Yutu knows he's not getting out of this by lying. "We could be related!"

"That's- I'm really sorry!!!" Yutu instantly bows in apology to Jamil messing up Kalim's work.

"H-hey no need to do that!" The tone of Jamil's voice brings Kalim down to earth as he looks a bit closer at Yutu, and then towards Yuu for a long, good look and then back to Yutu again.

Yutu has to explain himself to everyone a few times before they fully understand what's going on. He has the benefit of being able to use Oasis Maker, which proves that he is very much a member of the al-Asim family, and his extensive knowledge of Yuu's world proves his story is true (as if Kalim's excited tackle hug at hearing Yutu just say "you are my dad and Yuu is my parent" didn't) but the idea of a future like he is describing is really difficult for Kalim to comprehend, let alone Jamil and Yuu. Jamil is especially shocked that Yutu doesn't hate him and sees him as someone who deserves to be protected. I could see him actually saying that he sees it as his responsibility as the heir of the al-Asim family and while Jamil doesn't trust the purity of Kalim's intentions, he does trust Yuu's. And after a brief bit of consideration, he decides he'll extend that trust to Yutu too. Still thinks he's surrounded by idiots though.

Of course Kalim wants to throw a party upon learning that he and Yuu get together and have a kid. It's literally one of the most important things he could ever celebrate, but instead of doing it on short notice it's something he decides to plan with a very specific purpose. If what Yutu is saying is true about the future then he's going to need help. Jamil is very smart, but Kalim somehow doubts that he'll have all of the resources he needs to prevent the end of the apocalypse if he's asked to do it on his own. The planning is a joint effort between Kalim, Yutu, and Jamil to pick who best to let in on the secret out of all their NRC classmates. Kalim promises to hold off on other party planning so Jamil can focus on this, he'd rather have all of the time in the world to spoil his spouse and son instead of the few short years he has at NRC.

Speaking of Yuu, Kalim is very worried about how you feel about all of this. Are you afraid of what Yutu told you? Does it make you question staying in Twisted Wonderland, or your relationship with him? He still really wants to be with you, there's a lot of stuff he still doesn't know about you yet that he desperately wants to, and so much about himself that he wants to offer up. I think upon learning about Yutu's existence he would ask to talk to you alone and tell you very honestly about how he feels about you. He wishes to be yours for time and all eternity, and he is willing to wait and put in the work to be worthy of you and your trust. Yes he says this even if you aren't together yet and yes he means it, especially the waiting bit.

Kalim is already such a supportive, if overindulgent, person and that carries in to how he is as a father. Sure he's not the smartest person in the world, but he knows how to get people on his side. I feel like he sees it as his role to worry about the future and not Yutu's, but he also accepts that because Yutu didn't grow up with him that he might not be willing to let Kalim take up his burdens. That won't stop him from trying to get him to relax, from what Yutu told him he never really got to experience the Scalding Sands and that just won't do. While a trip home isn't on the table right now, he can still teach Yutu everything he knows, hopefully he'll find pride and comfort in knowing about where his father is from and it will replenish his motivation to fight. First order of business on that list? Introducing him to the magic carpet and taking him for a ride!

- Andre is an ABSOLUTE SWEETHEART. He will never let you go without telling you how much he loves and appreciates you, finding all the right ways to complement you and make you feel warm and fuzzy inside. Andre does things that no one even thinks about when it comes to you because he knows you and he knows what you like.

- He surprises you on a daily basis, giving you surprise hugs from behind or gifts like a coffee or tea depending on what you like. He also just says things

- Very specific, but if you're sitting on one end of a super long seat like a bench or something, Andre will slide over and wrap his arm around you and give you a peck on the cheek before asking you what you're up to.

- His grandma actually likes you, despite being weary with every single one of Andre’s friends, she enjoys talking to you and just looking at you for long periods of time. Andre says she doesn't mean bad by doing that, she just thinks you're very nice looking at that’s great in your book.

- If you like to cook or bake, Andre is always the first to try. Whether it be a joke concoction where you want him to react poorly, or a really delectable plated meal, he’s always eager to try. His expression is always priceless, and he’s always so happy to eat whatever you make.

- Singing! Duets! All those cheesy lyrics too!

- Andre always stands up for you if you're soft spoken, referring to you as ‘my insert pet name’ and will question anything anyone makes you do things. Especially if it’s a friend telling you to do something for them, Andre will step in and ask what they're having you do, and if it doesn't get the Andre stamp of approval then you're not doing it. He only prevents you from doing dumb stuff or things that he knows will put you in danger, so it’s for your own safety, really.

- He doesn't look like the type, but Andre is very protective over you. Not to say he keeps you on a short leash, but he really is worried for you and worried about the people around you who try and flirt with you. No, he’s not insecure and no you're not a flirt, he just doesn't like the idea of a lot of people romantically after you. That means if someone asks you out and Andre finds out about it, he’ll show up to the date spot instead.

“Hey, Y/n, I thought first we’d—OH WHAT—”

“We’d what, pretty boy?”

- Over time, you've discovered that your go to seat no matter where you are is on Andre’s lap. Especially when he’s already leaned back in his chair, all you have to do is sit down on his lap and get comfortable for a few seconds and you're all set. Andre loves it, you love it, and it ends up with his arms wrapped around your waist, playing with your hair, or rubbing your back.

- Definitely the type to go in for side kisses, grabbing behind your neck to pull you in and smile into the kiss. Though he only kisses you in private, he makes up for the lack of ‘couple’ attention by those moments alone.

- Everyone always knows when he’s talking to you on the phone since his voice changes into a deeper tone and by the way he wanders off, sitting on random surfaces and kicks his feet, twirling his hair and giggling into the speaker.

“Andre shut up.”

“YOU SHUT UP. I’m talking to my baby~”

- He’s so supportive in anything you do, and I mean anything. If you wanted to quit singing, start tap dancing, start ballet, start holding EDM concerts, or film symbolic movies no one understands, Andre’s the first one to see it with that same smile on his face no one else gets.

- VERY into physical touch. He’s fine with just rubbing your arm or resting his hand on your leg, as long as he’s in some sort of contact with you he’s peachy.

Synopsis: Some positives and negatives of dating Sanji

Notes: I'm still getting used to writing hcs, it turned out that way but it's not exactly the same as the others, so I don't know if it's good? Sorry for the English and read as if it were gender neutral or the ones you identify with.

Dating Sanji might seem like a dream, it's so perfect and peaceful, then suddenly it would turn into a boat on a huge tide with no sails and no way to escape the storm.

Don't get it wrong, Sanji tries very hard to be the best boyfriend possible, but everything has its downsides and upsides. So let's separate so that everything is clearer and you can draw your own conclusions.

Positives:

Sanji is very careful when waking up, he's usually the first one up and the last one down. So if you're the type that prefers to sleep as much as possible, he'll slowly come out of the covers without touching you to do his own homework. If you decide to wake up next to him to do your own thing or stay with your boyfriend, then he will wrap you warmly against the cold and make you breakfast before the others, after all you deserve it for the hard work of getting up so early.

He is also very cautious around you, he gets very observant about your desires for physical touch. Do you love hugs? Wait several days, do you hate them? So he will swallow all the neediness and stay as far away as possible, he loves to touch your hands and would spend days holding them. Although he is very desperate for physical touch and affection, if he knows it's not exactly his taste he will stay in his own space and respect you. He would never force you into anything, not even kisses, but any affection you give him will be met with compliments and bursts of happiness, he loves having your attention.

And speaking of attention, you'll always be top of Sanji's attention list. You want to talk? No problem, he can cook, fight and still give you enough attention in a conversation. Do you want to spend quality time on an island? He already has the whole route planned and a lot of money to fulfill all his desires. Do you want a traditional romantic date? You don't even have to ask! He has the perfect table, candles, music and even the perfect outfit for you to enjoy! Sanji loves spending time with you and he really doesn't care how you guys do it, being by your side he's content.

Sanji is also very friendly, you will never feel alone or abandoned if you have this man by your side. He is able to understand all your traumas and difficulties without demanding too much, he won't be the type to pressure you to tell about your past and traumas. However, if you decide to share this with him, you can be sure that he will listen in silence without judging you and give you the support you need, whether through words of comfort or a simple silent hug.

Negatives:

Sanji is very jealous. He really tries not to be because he trusts his body and soul in you, the question of jealousy is exactly that, Sanji trusts you, he just doesn't trust other people. If he sees any man or woman getting too close, laughing too much, touching you too much, you can be sure he doesn't know how to hide that he's jealous. He will frown and have a bitter smile as he tries to push others away from you, he will also end up becoming more needy and in need of touch. Trying to somehow confirm that you love him and not others.

Sanji hides many things from you. This could even be something cute if he was going to hide a surprise, but no, he hides important and serious things. He literally won't tell you anything about his past even if you guys fight about it, he will also hide injuries whether physical or mental. In Sanji's mind you're a perfect angel who shouldn't worry or stress about anything, so the solution for him is to simply hide everything that might hurt or stress you out.

Sanji flirts too much. When you start a relationship he will stop most of the flirting, after all he sees no point in conquering other people when he is already with the love of his life. The problem is that flirting is in Sanji's blood and every time he sees a beautiful woman he will become more gentle and submissive, even if he doesn't flirt romantically he still acts like he is. This can lead to a lot of confusion, he will argue that he is just being nice while you argue that it looks like he is cheating on you. At the end of the day if it upsets you he will try to tone it down as much as he can and keep an eye on his own actions.

Sanji can be very headstrong. He tries to be as open-minded as possible so the relationship can progress, but once he gets it into his head that he's right, nothing will change that. Even if he doesn't like to fight with you, there will be countless times he will deny being wrong or deny blame, even if it's obvious he is wrong. For example, he'll deny that he should be more careful in fights, saying that if he doesn't give it his all there's no reason to fight, even if you only want him to worry about getting back to the ship alive. He will hit the same button a lot on some subjects and you will need to be very pushy if you want to show him that things aren't the way he thinks.

In the end Sanji is a human like any other and is not free from mistakes. He has many qualities for a boyfriend and can be the prince of your dreams, but he will also give you a lot of headaches in certain ways. Sanji's best quality is that he is always willing to listen to you and change if it makes both of you happy, so don't worry about starting a conversation to air your fears and misgivings, he will definitely listen to you and you will find a solution together .

He is also a very loyal partner, someone that takes care of his partner and that will love them very intensely

Yujin is also someone that has a lot of chills, he will never pick up a fight with people, never get into drama but always be the first one to know about the drama

Ok, I'm pretty sure I got this before Christmas and it's now May. I'm so sorry. I won't go into all the reasons I haven't really been writing because it's a lot but I want to get back into it so here goes with this very unseasonal post lmao

and thank you everyone for you patience as I get back into the swong of writing for my blog

Raph

This big hunk of red and green first

He's very seasonal if you think about it

He's also super (secretly) into the holidays

catch him doing his rendition of rockin' around the Christmas tree very loudly when he's off his tits on eggnog

((side note I think he would hate eggnog but would drink it solely because it's festive))

He's secretly super sentimental and he knows you love this time of year so he really puts his back into it

I'm talking it's the 1st of December and he wakes you up in a full Santa outfit and white beard (that he knitted himself) yelling "Ho Ho Ho!" and asking if you've been naughty or nice

it's like 6am so you, naturally, tell him to piss off

to which he makes a big show of trying to shove you into his Santa sack because "Someone needs a trip to the North Pole to learn the Christmas spirit"

He's also pretty good with crafts

obvs you guys can't go outside and be seen so he creates a whole winter wonderland in the lair (without telling the others, Mikey was the only one who appreciated it tbh)

also he's a great cook so you spend evening after evening baking sugar cookies and decorating them, sipping hot chocolate with a candy cane in it and whipped cream on top, making warming winter soups.

In terms of gifts, he gets you anything and everything he even thinks you might like

real big spender this one

handmade too items like a scarf he knitted for you because your old one was a bit worn, handmade card, he even did a little snow globe that he made with figures of you and him inside of it

he'll say "I know it's lame" or "It's not the best but I tried" but it means the world to you

Leo

Big boy blue up next

I see him loving a very traditional, old fashioned, classic Xmas.

His big thing is that he loves to decorate the tree with you

but you would always bicker about how it should look

"No, I think a gold and red theme would look better!"

"But, Leo, we have all of these cute glass candy canes I wanna hang!"

"But I have a vision!!"

so this year he decides to buy like 6 trees (and by buy I mean forage, steal or cut down)

so you can both have your own trees and decorate them however you want

this, obviously, becomes a Christmas competition

your very unwilling judges are Leo's brothers and even Splinter

they have never looked more uncomfortable than when you and Leo are very passionately stating your case for why your tree is better than the other's and it ends in you both throwing baubles at each other

about half an hour and a lot of tinsel lying everywhere later you decide that maybe you're both a little too competitive

but Leo reassures that "That's why I love you"

He's so big on quality time with you

lot's of sitting by a crackling fire, sipping coco and letting soft Christmas songs play

he's made a playlist of v gentle ones like Eartha Kitt's Santa baby, Conventry carol and god rest ye merry gentlemen.

it's all about the mood w/ Leo

as far as gifts, it's has to be something personal and sweet

a pressed flower in resin from the first day you both met, a silver heart shaped locket with a pic of you both in it, some sort of talisman that's supposed to keep you safe in ninja superstition

Mikey

Time for chaotic good to come to play

Mikey just manages to capture that almost childlike enthusiasm and wonder for the season

He has a funny habit of wrapping your gifts to look like something else

last year you were certain he'd gotten you a rocking horse but it turned out to be a new phone and headphones

"How long did it take you to wrap it like that?"

"Don't ask questions you don't wanna know.....3 hours to make the horse part look right"

normally he gets you silly but sweet gifts

lots of sticking filler things

oh and he gets you an actual stocking too, but like a comically oversized one to fit all the gifts

stuff he's made too

one year he made you 50 hand cut paper snowflakes with 50 reasons he loves you written and drawn on them

also stuff you guys can do together

video games he knows you'll find fun, stupid interactive games that you can play, that kinda stuff

he does a special Xmas scavenger hunt for you each year that the others pretend is stupid but it keeps getting more elaborate as time goes on and even they are started to get invested in the ending

there's a theme and everything ranging from polar express to murder at the Christmas party to Santa's grotto....

he also never fails to dress up as Mrs Clause every year (because Raph insists on being Santa and at first Mikey just wanted everyone to laugh, but now it's kinda a tradition)

Donnie

oh my sweet gadget boy

he's super big into cocktails, the sweeter the better

and you always get to name them together but you both have a warped sense of humour so the names are getting out of hand

you pick a fave each year as well

last year was "The abominable snowman's frozen left nut" and the year before was "Mrs Clause putting glass shavings in Santa's food because he came back with the clap"

I told you they were bizarre....

his gifts are always thoughtful and so romantic

I HC Donnie as being a super romantic guy

whether it be a painting he made of the constellations and planets in correct placement on the night the two of you first kissed

or a wreath of dried flowers and plants to hang on the door that came from the field behind your childhood house

but this year it's a scrapbook filled to the brim with every detail of the two of you, all dated and with a little annotation telling a story as to why it's in there. photos, cards, handwritten letters, magazine cut outs, diary entries.... it's all in there and it's enough to make you cry.

He also sneaks you out on Christmas eve every year without the others knowing (they'd flip if they came to know that he was stealing you away at that time)

but he takes you up to the rooftops to sit on blankets and drink hot chocolate (spiked with a little rum, it's Donnie after all...) and look at the lights and snowflakes and people bustling home to their families and you sit and feel at peace and laugh as you make up backstories to each individual you see scurrying home

you lean against his shoulder and every year that he does this it feels more magical than the last

more rotating on this post: kakashi dating a civilian OC who has no idea he's a ninja

original proposed concept is they "meet" via icha icha fanzine. i bothered @tozettastone and they suggested that OC be a cosplayer. what does icha icha cosplay even look like? you ever seen IRL naruto coplay that's like "naruko but she wears a miniskirt and fishnets and a lot of makeup." or like fanart of kakashi where he's wearing a bellyshirt for no reason other than to show off his abs. like that, plus some very over-the-top traditional clothing for undercover work and civilian characters. everyone has off the shoulder kimono that show off cleavage and magically stay up, etc

anyway, i can't really see young!kakashi (like 18-19-20?) actively participating in fandom. but maybe he finds a zine somewhere and starts collecting them, like a pre-internet lurker. it's his coping mechanism, okay. he likes fanart. he likes bad fics. and then our lovely OC who's also 19 and fresh to being allowed in the porn section is like: I MADE THE BEETLE WING HAORI HERE'S A PHOTO. there's a note about her sorting through thousands of beetle wings to get the right colors, and also what a nightmare they are to sew, and also what should she try next, mail me here??? and Kakashi is like: oh wow, this person is insane. i have just the challenge. <3

(OC's additional notes on the haori: no one should ever do this again. just don't. you'll regret it)

kakashi is not the only person to write her suggestions, but he IS the only one to suggest something that's actually technically difficult to make, which is what she wanted. so they start swapping letters where she sends him progress updates on this insane thing she is making. he finds this mildly amusing until about a month out from the next con when her letters abruptly turn insane. she WILL premier this cosplay there even if it kills her-- listen if her wig guy isn't up to snuff she'll just LEARN HERSELF--

and listen kakashi isn't going to FALL IN LOVE but this level of commitment is something he can appreciate.

OC sends him a letter about the con (her very first one!!) and going to a con is not something he has any interest in, but like. he is curious to know what they're like, and it's nice to like? have? a friend??

they trade letters for years without actually talking about their personal life much. kakashi is not creative (no writing fic, no fanart, no cosplay, etc) but he IS really good at analysis. you need every detail on naoki's civilian outfit in paradise? he's got you. you don't understand wtf the text is talking about when it describes a weapon? he'll draw you a diagram (and not mention he knows what jiraiya is talking about because it's based on a real thing that was popular for like a month during the third war).

this goes on for years. oc lives in a small town in a little border country with no ninja, and her family runs a clothes shop, and she's deeply bored of making and altering shirts. she has a frustrating life in a very mundane way-- she dates a few guys and doesn't marry any of them and her family gives her grief. she moves to a slightly bigger city and can't get a job doing what she wants (making high-end luxury clothes and/or just insane fashion) and ends up working at a general store and doing minor alterations as a side gig to fund her hobby. she doesn't get to travel around and do cool things as much as she dreamed as a kid. she skips some cons because she doesn't always have the money and also there's a weird guy who'd been low-key stalking her. she tries selling little pre-made costume pieces at a con and doesn't even break even. only a handful of these details make it into her very serious discussion with kakashi about how the many details the icha icha miniseries got wrong

kakashi is.... being kakashi. obviously he doesn't write to her about all the assassinations he's been doing or whatever. but he doesn't mind when OC hints at her own boring problems. it's kind of nice, actually, to know there's people out there having boring problems? anyway one day she complains her landlord won't let her get a dog and he mails her a polaroid of a random dog he met in a park.

i'm thinking around the time of just before canon starts is about when kakashi is at a place where he's like..... okay with sharing some personal details? like he doesn't say a LOT but he realizes it actually feels really nice to write to someone that he's annoyed the store stopped selling his favorite pre-rolled sushi. the letters get sent more frequently and the conversation escalates at a slow, tedious pace. kakashi sends more dog pics. he tells her that he was so exhausted after work that he considered eating dog treats instead of cooking, and this feels like a very big deal to him

her: PLEASE tell me it was at least the fancy kind that look like cookies

him: obviously i would only buy the highest quality treats for my dogs

her: dogS?

kakashi: (ignores this question in the next letter)

kakashi checks his mail everyday now and he's like. oh no my feelings. but also she's in a whole other country and only exists to him in letters and that feels.... safe, somehow.

they met via a club for porn books so they don't "get together" so much as one of their very academic discussions of kink in icha icha violence suddenly turns into deeply sexual letters that have nothing to do with icha icha. there's still their normal conversation but then it's also like "if you were here now, this is what i would do to you--"

OC has been pretty good at not prying into Kakashi's life and she's very understanding of team seven making kakashi's life insane (she's under the impression her got an apprentice for whatever his job is) but she starts bugging him for a photo. kakashi is very against this at first, but then sasuke leaves and naruto leaves and sakura runs off with tsunade and suddenly he has a lot of free time and a big gaping hole in his social life. and like. he DOES really like her. they MIGHT be dating? definitely they have a thing going. so instead he asks if she wants to meet in person

OC agrees but she goes into it VERY nervous. she figures he didn't want to give a photo because he's embarrassed about his appearance, and she doesn't care what he looks like, but what if he lied about other things? what if she walks a whole day to this resort town and he's a weirdo or gross or stood her up?? but she puts on her big girl pants and also her push-up bra and goes

she wasn't actually going to sleep with him for their first meeting but it turns out he is like. hot. and talks just like his letters. and also it's way cheaper to just share one hotel room-- kakashi are you SURE you won't couple cosplay--

The goal of NCN is to show what would happen if everyone stopped creating free content.

Your dash would be empty. No art. No fics. No comics.

The idea is that for the whole month of November, creators of all kinds (artists, writers, etc) don’t post any sort of content, this to create a simulation of what happens to posts when you only like them instead of rebloging them, the art/fics/comics/ don’t get circulated, and eventually there’s nothing to see and enjoy.

Every content creator has experienced the unbalance between Likes and Reblogs.

Likes look nice, but Reblogs give exposure, which results in even more people finding your work.

Reblogs help creators grow, and be encouraged, which means even more content than before!

What can you do to help as a non creator (and creator)?

During November support your favorite content creators by Rebloging, Commenting or sending an Ask!

Even a short “Nice work! Love it” is great to cheer up and encourage the content creators whom work you enjoy.

(You are also encouraged to do this the whole year!)

The long term goal is to one day, make Reblogs as abundant as Likes, plus with this small but very meaningful support, we could all end up enjoying even more content than before!

On the other hand, I’ve received and found a lot of artists that enjoy this month because it gives them an excuse to rest and not focus on their blogs and just enjoy making, and that is enough reason for me to keep trying.

“Well, hello, handsome”, the girl says, taking James by surprise.

He glares at her. “Who are you?”

“The woman of your dreams, nice to meet you”, her tone is full of joy, and she laughs slightly. “Just kidding, I’m (y/n). And you are Sargent Barnes, right?”, she doesn’t wait for an answer, adding with a sly smile, “it’s a pleasure.”

“(y/n). I see”, Bucky nods, measuring her up and down. “What is it you want from me, (y/n)?”

“Aren’t you the sweetest thing, all moody and suspicious?”, she clicks her tongue, not affected at all by his stiffness. “I wanna get to know you. I have a feeling you don’t do that with a lot of people, so I would like to change that.”

“I am what you could call an antisocial guy, I guess”, he glances at her, shrugging. “But what is it that you find so interesting about me?”

“You know, you are a lot like me, if you’d believe”, the girl pushes a stool to his side, making herself comfortable. “I’m also very antisocial, but something about you just pulled me in. Maybe it was your beautiful blue eyes”, she chuckles. “Or one too many beers I had so far.”

James studies her face with some caution. “Really?”, he takes a sip of his drink, looking away as if in deep thought. “I’m not used to people taking an interest in me. And I find your behaviour... unusual.”

“You know, I really like your hair”, she blurts out, seeming completely in awe of his dark strands.

Bucky can’t help but stare at her, a little confused. “You... like my hair?”

“Yes, and I have a feeling I would like your smile too”, she leans on the counter with her elbows. “I’m sure it’s a sight.”

“I have to admit, I wasn’t expecting to be flirted with so aggressively”, he snickers, finally warming up. “But I appreciate the compliments.”

“Hey, if I’m making you uncomfortable, I can stop”, she adds, taking a more serious stance, but letting her grin appear one more time. “I wouldn’t wanna bother such a handsome man.”

“You’re not bothering me, (y/n)”, Bucky smiles lightly. “You just caught me off guard. I find it... flattering, actually.”

“Good.”

They exchange a long look before he says, “so, tell me about yourself.”

“Oh, there is nothing to tell, really”, she stares down for a moment. “I’m just a girl looking for good conversation, and I’m glad you took an interest in me.”

Bucky snorts softly. “I don’t think you should be that happy about my interest. I have been told I can be quite intense”, (y/n) gives him a funny look, and he responds by nodding with a smirk. “It’s not for everyone.”

“Is that so?”, she challenges, taking a sip of her own drink. “Well, I’m afraid you have just met your match, my friend.”

He raises a brow. “So, you think you can match my intensity?”, (y/n) feels her insides melting when his blue eyes reach hers like two headlights in the night. “I’d like to test that theory of yours, sometime.”

“You can be very forward too, huh?”, (y/n) mumbles, blushing helplessly. She gives him a playful salute, “good for you, Sargent.”

Bucky nods once, thoughtful. “You know, you’re not like anyone I have met here. Most of them would be scared off if I acted like this”, he muses, while his deep eyes flit right to her lips.

(y/n) hums, leaning in closer. “See something you like?”

“Yes”, he meets her halfway, standing dangerously close to her mouth. “And I’d like to try something, if you wouldn’t mind.”

James holds her gaze briefly before kissing her, his hands gently cupping her flustered face. She gasps under his touch, hugging him tight while their tongues dance together. Suddenly the whole bar goes quiet and it’s just both of them now, exchanging that sweet moment. They part a few moments later, somewhat breathless, and (y/n) beams at Barnes with a smug look.

“Who’s the aggressive flirt, now?”, she mocks, and her cheeks still have a light blush.

James simply laughs, nodding to her. “Yeah, okay, you won that one.”

Spock x Reader

“So, Spock, are you planning what to give (Y/N) for our Christmas celebration this year?” asked Bones.

“Yes,” said Spock.

“Is it a book or work tool?” said Bones doubtfully.

“No. It is a traditional gift for a Celian,” said Spock.

“Why, Spock, that’s so thoughtful,” said Kirk, smiling.

“I would not disrespect my T’hy’la’s culture,” said Spock.

“I’m happy for you two,” said Kirk.

“You know, Spock, I’m proud,” said Bones.

Spock raised an eyebrow, knowing that there would be a punchline. “Oh? For what reason?”

“You’re very good to (Y/N),” said Bones.

“You were concerned?” said Spock.

“I don’t think anyone is good enough for (Y/N). They’re way too nice and bright for anyone,” said Bones. “But you’re good to them.” He narrowed his eyes. “Keep treating them well or your next examination will be hell.”

“Doctor, I believe that would be classified under medical malpractice,” said Spock.

“I don’t care if it’s illegal,” said Bones.

Kirk just laughed as the pair bickered. They both cared about (Y/N) (though one was like a protective older brother and the other was the boyfriend). And neither backed down about it. It was simultaneously adorable and humorous.

“Spock’s going to like what you got him,” said Uhura, grinning.

“Really?” said (Y/N) nervously. It was hard to get gifts for Spock since he was so practical most of the time, but they wanted to get him something for the holiday party the Enterprise was holding.

“Of course! It’s very thoughtful and helpful for him,” assured Uhura. She winked. “And it’s you giving it to him. Spock will like it because it’s from you.”

“I hope so,” sighed (Y/N).

“(Y/N), you already won Spock’s heart. A single gift won’t change that,” said Uhura. She patted her friend’s shoulder. “And I know I can’t read Spock like you do, but I know that he likes you. A lot. You need to relax. Okay?”

(Y/N) smiled slightly. “Thanks.”

“Happy Holidays, everyone!” said Scotty jovially, pouring drinks for everyone as they walked into the recreation room the party was being hosted in.

“Happy Holidays, Scotty!” said (Y/N) as they walked in. Seeing Spock standing beside Bones and Kirk, they perked up. “By, Uhura, I’m going to head over to Spock.”

“I’ll be with Janice and Chekov,” said Uhura, smiling.

“Hi, Dear,” said (Y/N), smiling at Spock as they walked up.

Spock’s usual hard stare turned softer as he saw (Y/N). “Hello, T’hy’la.”

“Do you two mind if I steal him for a second?” said (Y/N), glancing at Kirk and Bones. They held up their bagged gift. “I have something for him.”

“What a coincidence. He does too,” said Bones, grinning.

“Go ahead.” Kirk smiled. “Have fun, you two.”

Spock and (Y/N) nodded and stepped away to the side of the room.

“Here, open your gift,” said (Y/N) eagerly (and nervously) and handed it over.

Spock opened the bag and lifted out a blue crystal slab set into a wooden base. He raised an eyebrow as he recognized it. “Azurite—a helpful stone for meditation.” He made eye-contact with (Y/N), and they knew that although he wasn’t smiling, he was happy.

“You mentioned that Vulcans meditate quite often, so I wanted to get you something you could actually use,” said (Y/N), smiling.

Spock nearly smiled. “Thank you, T’hy’la.” He held out his gift for them. “And I hope you appreciate my gift.”

(Y/N) opened it and lifted out hairpin with gold stones set in it. “Spock, it’s beautiful.”

“It is yellow sapphire, a gemstone for willpower,” said Spock. “I remembered that it is customary to gift crystals in Celian couples.”

“That’s very sweet, Spock.” They grinned teasingly. “Or observant, if you’d prefer.”

“Would you like me to put it on?” asked Spock.

(Y/N) nodded. Spock reached up and let his hand brush across their cheek before pinning the pin into their hair. It matched their shining eyes beautifully.

“Thank you, Spock. I love it,” said (Y/N).

“I feel that way about you, T’hy’la,” said Spock, avoiding the word in public but being honest nonetheless.

“I know, Spock,” said (Y/N), lifting two fingers. “I always know.”

Spock pressed his two fingers to theirs. Neither needed words. They understood each other’s hearts.

I have always asked myself why do you ship batjokes? What is the appeal for you with this ship? You like bruce a lot, so why ship him with joker? I am just very, very curious.

Hi! From your question it seems like you associate having a favorite character solely with wanting them to be happy or wanting them to have nice things, which... yes, but also you have to keep in mind that half of Tumblr means this when they say they like a character:

Which I very much relate to, personally. Bruce Wayne is my favorite character of all time, but I specifically like to read/write about him going through the Horrors.

Shipping Bruce with Joker... well. Perhaps you're familiar with Hannibal NBC, and Hannigram? Death Note, and Lawlight? Or more recently, Interview with the Vampire and Loustat? I could list some more enemies-to-lovers, but it's the same principle. Two bastards who deserve each other and should not inflict themselves on anyone else, hand in unlovable hand.

Still, I appreciate that you're asking me this in good faith, so I'll try to explain in more detail. I got long, so I'll put my answer under the cut. Just a heads-up: there's mention of abuse, depression and some discussion of suicidality (stuff that tends to come up with more in-depth talk of Batjokes in comics), so take care.

While the ships I mentioned also have a portion of fandom going "But A is the good guy! Why would he care about B, who kills people and only seems to make them suffer?", that portion is larger when it comes to Batjokes. Bruce Wayne is Batman-- he's supposed to be a hero, the father figure of a large family, a symbol of hope. And there's a lot to be said about a more idealized or fanon version of Bruce, and the gap between it and the one depicted in comics. But I'm mentioning this gap because it tends to be connected with an unwilligness to deal with, or even acknowledge, Bruce's dark side.

Bruce struggles with violent tendencies, with an unbelievable amount of anger, with control issues, with paranoia and self-hatred and issues with intimacy. He's terrifyingly intelligent and also incredibly manipulative when he wants to be. He's canonically been abusive to his adopted children and he's canonically been shown to have quite the sadistic streak. And while I understand why some fans see this as bad writing (to be fair, sometimes it just is), reinterpret parts of it or pretend it doesn't exist... it is there, and it is a pattern. Many of these darker aspects of Bruce's personality are a result of how he's processed his trauma-- refusing to heal is literally the fuel for being Batman. But refusing to face his grief has consequences, and some of them inevitably end up ricocheting off his loved ones; though I am saying this as an explanation, not an excuse.

The way he's been written seems to have spawned two larger attitudes in Tumblr fandom, varying in degree and nuance: either refusing to deal with Bruce's dark side, or only seeing his dark side and hating his character entirely. And obviously, everyone is entitled to their own opinion and preference, as long as they respect others'. But to me personally, it's never been black-and-white. One of the best parts about Bruce's character is the very conflict at the heart of him... because despite everything I mentioned, Bruce always tries to do better. He's also empathetic and compassionate; he hungers for love and for connection, and he constantly tries to help people and do good. In my eyes, that's what Batman is about: never giving up. You fail, but you get back up and you try again. You might be struggling with so many things threatening to drag you under, but you make the effort to do good. To me that's deeply inspirational, specifically because it's not second nature to Bruce.

If you prefer a version of Bruce that doesn't have much of a dark side, Batjokes is likely not something you'll enjoy. Bruce caring about Joker is very much connected to it. He deeply relates to Joker because their identities are both born out of their traumas. They could have become the other, and that's a level of closeness and intertwining that cannot be understated. In the face of their loved ones being taken away, Bruce and whoever Joker used to be made choices in the opposite direction. Bruce chose to force meaning onto the world and be defined by his past. He chose to channel his anger into ensuring no one else goes through what he went through. Joker had the same anger, but he chose to erase his own past and burn the world down instead. He chose to ensure everyone else goes through the same horror he went through, to prove nothing has meaning.

And this is, at the end of the day, the reason why Batman never lets Joker die, even when it doesn't make sense. Joker's existence makes Bruce feel less alone-- and yes, it is very selfish of him to choose this over the lives of others and despite what Joker has done, but it is what it is. I've seen people discredit this notion of Joker being Batman's friend as stupid, because Bruce already has so many allies and such an extensive Family; how could he feel alone? He already has so many relationships, people he cares about and who care about him. But... that's never how it works, is it? You don't choose to feel the way you feel. Bruce loves the people around him, and those relationships ground him in very meaningful ways, but that doesn't make the darkness disappear. He wishes it did. But his choice to be Batman is a choice to keep hurting, like I just described. It sets him apart. And the line it puts him on, the things he's balancing, are things Joker intimately understands. Joker is his shadow and his creation, his negative. Bruce's anger and his sadistic violence get channeled in his relationship with Joker, and the worse Joker gets the better Batman has to become, and viceversa. I see it a bit like magic (and Bruce does too, when he talks about how he's afraid that if Joker disappeared, Gotham would send him someone worse). You cannot perform magic without it exacting a price, and the price for Bruce's good is Joker's evil. Lives are saved, but then lives are taken away.

What I am describing here is the appeal of the ship to me. In many ways, romantic is not nearly enough to describe it; I'm just fascinated by their dynamic, any form it takes. Batman and Joker have been opposites and narrative foils for almost a century, and I'll probably never run out of stuff to analyze (yay!). There's so many stories with them, so many different incarnations of them, so many layers and complications that their dynamic has accumulated, simply by virtue of how old and mythical they have become.

The more accurate description for them is probably soulmates, but the most painful kind-- destined to always meet but to always be at war, never able to kill the other or let the other go, because they are two sides of the same coin. And there's an attraction to not being able to let go, no matter how high the bodies pile up. Bruce can't kill Joker without losing himself, and he can't let Joker die. Joker can't kill Batman or let him die without losing his life's meaning. No matter what, the other is always there. They hate and resent this connection plenty, but at the end of the day, the other's existence is an essential comfort they can't run away from.

And thing is, Bruce sacrifices so much for his crusade as Batman. He sacrifices his very childhood and self, his potential happiness; he distances himself from his loved ones and he pushes them away. He represses as much as he is able to so he can go on, so he can save as many people as possible, so he can rewrite the trauma that broke him. But he chases Joker. He obsesses over Joker like over no one else. He chooses to keep Joker alive, even when it hurts his Family and even when it leads to more and more death.

Joker is a connection he selfishly chooses, and doesn't run away from, especially because it hurts. Both Bruce and Joker are self-hating and suicidal, so they allow themselves this one thing precisely because it's destroying them both. Yet, no matter what, part of Bruce sees in Joker someone who suffers, someone who understands, and he keeps trying to reach out to him because of it. It's not just the worst parts of Bruce that resonate with Joker. It's also his hope. Somewhere deep down he can't let go of the idea that maybe, Joker could be better, and if Joker could be better, maybe he could be better too.

...I guess I ship them because I want Bruce to get what he wants. Whether it's dying alongside Joker in a cave, or them helping each other heal, in spite of everything (both of these are plots for stories Scott Snyder has written, hah). Because the thing about Batjokes is that they're perhaps the only people on Earth who could get the other to stop. The easiest way is the way they've already chosen-- by being the one to kill the other. They both see death as the ultimate form of peace, a laying down of arms. But there's also the reverse; the possibility of a world in which neither of them has to die. A world in which they're not each other's preferred method of suicide, but in which they actually learn to live again, helped by the other.

I tend to oscillate between the two. I like Batjokes as an unmitigated tragedy with a course that cannot be diverted, and I like Batjokes as the most unlikely path to a form of peace. Both can provide catharsis in different ways. On a symbolic level, Joker is fighting for meaninglessness and Batman is fighting for meaning; Joker asks, "What is the point?" and Batman answers, "The fight is the point." On an individual level, they're both depressed and suffering from PTSD and always a hairbreadth away from self-destruction, but they keep each other alive, no matter how much it hurts. You can probably imagine how this ship can be a comfort, for people with similar struggles.

I do hope this satisfied your curiosity, Anon. Batjokes might still not be your cup of tea and that's okay, but as someone who likes to read about other ships and the psychology behind them, I hope this was at least a fun read. You seem like you're familiar with my blog already, but just in case you want to seek out canonical instances of what I am describing, I can point you to this compilation of Bruce's side of things that mentions part of what I say here, but also delves into comics. Hi! i've recently been coming to terms with the fact im very likely aroace, with aromanticism being the Main One on my mind since i've been struggling a bit with accepting that its possible i may never Be in a traditional relationship, mostly due to the fact that so much of what people set up as milestones to reach in life revolve around romantic love.

I just wanted to say i've really appreciated your blog, its been really nice see your posts and its just been helping a lot in trying to navigate all this :) aromanticism feels like its not talked about anywhere near as much as it should be (feels like it'd help not only aroace ppl but like. everyone), and if i'd known that so many people felt this same way sooner i think it would've brought some relief.

it's been especially tough lately i think with not being a teenager anymore, meaning all my friends around me are finding romantic partners and i guess its tough not to feel like the 'second choice' (some of this stemming from anxiety rather than actually how they treat me), and navigating how i feel around all that (also realising that at this point im not just a late bloomer lol). its been a real help finding spaces online that have people talking about their variety of aspec experiences, and its nice to know there's others like me :)

first of all: i'm so glad to provide a space for you that's helpful and comforting. community is so important, especially in experiences that can feel so isolating; no matter how you're feeling, at any point, there will always be people here to support you and listen to you and stand by your side. the aspec community is so important to me and i'm so happy to hear that it's been good to you :)

second of all: coming to terms with being aromantic can be difficult, for sure. the fact that so many of us use the words "coming to terms" is significant to begin with; it was very much the same for me, where it felt like a grieving process for a life that i never really wanted but was Told that i should have. it's difficult to work through the knowledge that the entire course of your life, as people set it up for you, is going to be changed away from what you were told would make you happy. this obviously isn't the same for everybody—i have a lot of people in my notes talking about how aromanticism was a wholly positive, freeing discovery for them—but. y'know. it's not like that for everybody, especially not at first. breaking out of amatonormativity is no easy task. just to express that i felt the same things right alongside you <3

especially with the fear of losing everyone around you to relationships... i mean, i think this is where community comes in again. there's a beautiful world out there where people are more aware of the intricacies of non-romantic relationships and the harms of amatonormativity and in that beautiful world we'll all be secure in knowing that our relationships with people will be important no matter the nature of them, but in the meantime, the security of being friends with other aspec people who are aware of all of this can be really comforting. you'll find the people who will stay by you no matter what, eventually, but forming those relationships with people who already understand is really nice. just like any queer relationships, i think. obviously there are cis people who will be cool but oh, the beauty and comfort and joy of t4t relationships in any form... aspec4aspec (a4a? do we have a general term for that? ace4ace aro4aro etc.) relationships are very important to me. helps to deal with that irrational anxiety, too. :)

one thing about being aromantic is that you will look around at the world and realize how innately helpful and revolutionary aromanticism would be if more people knew about it... again. a beautiful world someday. what we do for now is keep talking about it and keep sharing aro joy and keep developing our own important non-romantic relationships and promoting relationship anarchy and establishing our own lives and personhood on our own terms. so happy to have you here as aroace if that's the term you do land on <2 adore you, treasure you, etc., and i hope you have a wonderful wonderful day. feel free to check in anytime about anything! the ask box is always always open. xoxo

In the aftermath of war, he returns to a Hogwarts that is fractured and divided, but this is no break that can be fixed with a spell. New owls, fading scars, surprising alliances—and along the way, the hardest task of all, to live with it.

'I'm just saying, it's a good thing I never switched to your side,' Malfoy added, sounding more than a little delirious from the pain. 'Never could produce a Patronus. Wouldn't have made the cut.'

I’ve mentioned this fic on a few reclists before but I hadn’t been able to reread it and write a proper rec until now. For those who enjoy old school Drarry, this is excellent 8th year food - quirky, fun, with vivid settings, organic slow burn and fabulous characterization. I reckon unredeemed Draco is not everyone’s jam but for those who enjoy him let me tell you, his proud and pathetic Malfoy voice is an absolute delight. He’s pretty insufferable, prejudiced, arrogant, holds grudges and has that annoying dramatic flair colouring his every interaction. It’s rare to see him embarrassed or caught off guard from Harry’s pov which is why blushing moments feels like a victory for both Harry and us. From bullied Death Eater to the Slytherin champion to Harry’s fuck buddy, he’s complex and fascinating and so deliciously in character I can’t help but lmao at his awful personality. I like this take because it makes me remember that people don’t change that much, or that quickly, especially when they’re so young.

This fic is an 8th year romance with brilliant Gen vibes for the most part, which I love. The Hogwarts routine feels so familiar and I’ve had a blast with their early interactions, all that cute snarling banter and fantastic dialogue keeping me amused and engaged at all times. There are moments that made me pause and appreciate the supporting cast, like the Christmas scene with Andi and Narcissa, or Slughorn’s party - his aloof voice is so on point it feels like he’s jumping out of the books, and Harry soothing Ron’s insecurities about his relationship with Hermione was a very nice touch.

Speaking of characters, I can’t not mention Draco since this is his party, but the Golden Trio is also a delight: this perceptive Hermione (“you got a Malfoy look, you start to look sort of confused and wistful and eager all at once”) who takes notes for inexistent surprise exams + this feisty Ron who instead of exploding just celebrates that his cock is bigger than Draco’s are just perfect. And young Harry has my whole heart - he’s snarky, impulsive and classically oblivious, drawn to Draco in ways he’s not able or willing to explain, and he never disappoints in his classic “do first, ask later” philosophy 😂 his fire and sass complement Draco’s brilliantly, it’s hilarious how he quickly learns how to read and handle him.

The fuck buddies dynamics are as awkward and intense as you’d expect from two horny, traumatized and inexperienced 18 year olds. They butt heads and go for it, never talking it out but finding more about themselves in the process. Despite being so different (and boy do they argue about it) Harry and Draco somehow click together emotionally and physically, with their skinny, scarred, imperfect bodies. Harry can be his true self with Draco and gives back just as good as he gets; they’d be in the middle of an argument then quotes such as “the color of the sky reminded him of Malfoy, a bruised, determined gray” come and take your breath away!

If for nothing else, go read this if you’re looking for a different 8th year vibe, where no character is traditionally nice or easy to love. They’re all both light and dark, sweet but sharp around the edges, and we learn to care for them despite (or maybe because of) their flaws. This story leaves me nostalgic over those good old Hogwarts fics with lots of sneaking around and no heart-to-heart moment, which rings true for two lost boys figuring out who they are and what they want in the post-war. It’s messy, confusing, awkward and dramatic, but also very relatable and real, their future together left open and full of possibilities. Enjoy!

Author’s note: tiny side note my loves! I will be using male pronounce on Desire for the sake of the story, thank you!

Desire didn’t plan to fall in love with a human, he would always be more inclined to enjoy the pleasure of things without the commitment, the affective responsibilities and that sort of thing. His relationship with Unity for example, was merely a move in his chess game. While he did grow certain affection to the woman in question, it wasn’t what he would call an ever-changing love story.

But everything felt different when he met you, you were so kind and joyous he just felt intrigued by you. Especially as he noticed a very specific pattern in your behavior. You would always prioritize everybody’s needs and pleasure over your own. It was as if, without being conscious of it, you had become this provider of comfort to everyone but yourself.

When you started seeing each other, he adored how you cared for his pleasure, you wanted to know how to make him feel good, and whilst he appreciated such thing, he also noticed how you never communicated your needs, he knew how to pleasure you, because of course he was the personification of human desire and pleasure.

That conversation had been days ago, but he just kept replaying it in his mind like a broken record, he was filled with doubt, Desire had never experience such a thing.

He forgot about you, so you eventually forgot of yourself as well.

He made sure everything was perfect for the night you discovered your desires, first there was the champagne and you had a wonderful talk like you always did. Flirting every now and then, finally Desire put his glass down looking at you.

He watched your body language closely, how you carefully shut your legs and a crimson red appeared on your cheeks, showing embarrassment. You had clearly never been in this situation where someone was offering to put your needs first.

“You don’t have to Des…” you whispered softly, he cupped your face in his hands

“I want to” he reassured you.

You both went to the bedroom, he treated you so gently, tracing your soft skin with his fingers, removing your clothes one by one, pressing kisses all over your body, you trembled welcoming the new sensation of pleasure.

“Spread your legs for me, sweetheart” you quietly complied, staring deeply into his eyes as he introduced one of his fingers inside you. You took a deep breath, completely overwhelmed by the digit that entered you. Desire came close to your ear.

“Tell me what you want baby, just for tonight I will be a tool for your pleasure” he whispered keeping a steady rhythm inside you, your kneels buckled at his touch.

“…More” you let out in a breath, making Desire grin widely before introducing two more digits and fastening his pace. You gripped onto his shoulders roughly, as you cried out louder and louder each time.

Your mind was melting in pleasure, you tried to grasp on the sensations you felt, but you could not focus. The knot on your stomach tightening, feeling new waves of head cursing through your veins, sweat started forming in your body. You collapsed in his embrace, your fluids soaking his fingers and Desire decided to lick them dry in front of you.

“Look at you, so perfect… but I think I’ll be good to clean you up, yeah?”

“What do you have in mind?” You questioned, knowing Desire was far from being done with you. The blonde man kissed your lips before lowering himself to your core.

You tensed as you felt his tongue play with your folds, instinctively you gripped onto his hair, massaging his scalp, while also pulling him deeper inside you.

Desire grinned over your folds, taking this as a sign to continue his actions with much more urgency, he clawed at the skin of your butt, keeping you in place.

You threw your head back in utter bliss, your ears buzzing.

“Fuck, Desire!” You cursed, your whole body shaking sinking and fully surrendering to the feeling of true pleasure.

You were panting, the air coming into your lungs feeling like you swallowed on a torch. Your hair was a mess, your cheeks were burning and Desire kissed your forehead before putting a strand of your hair behind your ear.

“Your pleasure is just as important as anyone else’s, okay?”

“Okay” you kissed Desire with such love and gratitude towards him.

You couldn’t put into words the love you harvested for this entity, this man… you never knew how to address him. As you had never felt the comfort of truly being cared for, feeling like you were a priority to your loved one, but also feeling worthy of such love.
