You mentioned before that Uriel was close with a fallen angel before they fell, were they ever able to reconnect or would that be too painful for both parties?

ooooh interesting....uriel is known to be connected with the angel shamsiel, who was one of his chief aids before he fell as a leader of the watchers. just on surface level, it's difficult for uriel to connect with anyone given his introversion and how private he tended to be through out his life, but this extends much deeper into uriel not having a single idea on what he could say or offer to shamsiel. it's likely not something he would consider on his own either, at least not initially - gabriel i think, at some point, kind of breaches the topic with all of them, about what they might think of all the other fallen angels. because he knows they don't much consider it (outside of michael wrt lucifer) as fallen angels were written off as evil a long time ago and they treat gabriel as a special case both because he's their sibling and because his light wasn't severed by god anyway. it's a delicate thing to speak on, but gabriel believes to truly free themselves they must admit to many of these damnations being wrong. he asks them to look around and see how many fallen angels show themselves to them...because he knows they have seen none of them. they live in fear, taking ages to approach gabriel even after he had become one of them. see how the human beings resisted and made hell something more for themselves, see how the true demons swarm it as masses made from the evil god put into this place, but the fallen angels are nowhere to be found. that's all he really gets into at first, not wanting to push the topic too much to start, but he hopes it makes them think at least.

and therein lies the difficulty for uriel, really - the fallen angels would never willing come to him and so it would be his responsibility if he wanted to seek out anyone he once knew...and of course shamsiel would top the list. UNFORTUNATELY, uriel also has no good excuse to not find him, as uriel is the angel of the sun and absolutely nothing can hide from his sight. meaning. he could easily find him if he wished it. so gabriel's words knock around his head, and in all the truth he harbored for all those eons, he knows a vast majority of these banishments were, in fact, bullshit. the watchers in particular fell for lust at worst, and they shared much of their knowledge to help humanity grow in a way that was hardly harmful. yet even knowing that, uriel believes he has very little to offer and sort of stays stuck in a socially anxious loop, knowing it might be of some benefit just to apologize if nothing else but knowing too that the fallen angels are making clear they wish to hide from anyone's sight (and uriel takes one's wishes on privacy very seriously!!) but it's still possible he might go find him, especially if gabriel offers him encouragement in this regard.

i'm not sure if there would be any true reconciliation or even if there would be many words exchanged between them, but it likely would mean something to shamsiel that uriel was willing to seek him out and showed him no ill will once he did. instead he would come with all of the radiance of the sun, the true sun unlike the malignant copy in greed or the soulless light of limbo, to shine on shamsiel in warmth and comfort. because that's more how uriel speaks - he knows he's very quiet and he knows he's unsure how to handle his own feelings let alone the grief of others, but he can always offer his light as a gift. it does make all of this loss so much more tangible, to see one another again like they hadn't been able to in all this time. perhaps that's why god had kept them so separated, to make the angels in heaven forget these were once their friends and to make the fallen in hell build up a terror at the very mention of those they once loved. uriel knows shamsiel is not the same, but he knows too it is not fair or earned. he has twisted to live in fear, in darkness, in hatred and evil, but still they recognize one another...and he doesn't flee from uriel's light. maybe all he can do is offer this to him every now and then, thinking it feels like little comfort compared to uriel's experience - but for an angel that's been trapped in hell for thousands of years, the light of the sun brings an almost overwhelming joy

i had to think on this a while...laylas the type of person that purposefully presents herself a certain way in public so most of her friendships are surface layer solely bc she's playing an overly peppy character. so to most of her friends she's always there to pep you up and even when you're in the wrong she's gonna defend you. the kind of person you blab everything to and rely on constantly and then realize one day that while she's always super friendly you don't really know much about her

BUT to close knit friends she's the 'do you want me to lie to you or tell u the truth bc you're fucked' kind of friend 😭 doesn't let ppl into her home often bc she's so particular and WILL jump you if you don't take your shoes off. also while causal friends would say she's super giving in reality she's more of the quid pro quo type once it requires some effort . if you've been cursed by an ancient living tome and need illegal magic to lift it she WILL help you but you owe her big time. she listens and remembers all the little things and will randomly get you something you mentioned years ago or kill an enemy that u brought up ages ago and then pretend it wasn't a big deal at all. and while she comes off as unbothered she's secretly very possessive and when ppl try to make her jealous it does NOT end well. all in all she's someone who in a weird way every time u see one of her bad or negative moments its a form of intimacy bc most ppl do NAWT see that

and there is texting in my ocverse. layla is in dozens of gcs bc there's the siblings group chat, the besties group chat, she's in a group chat of local plant geeks, etc etc. anyways she reads everything in the group chats but rarely responds in them and will just start a dm convo 😭😭😭😭😭 everyone hates it
