It’s crazy how in the olden days you could be called the devils whore for playing an instrument too good yet some Solomon dude can summon 72 demons and the book about him is somehow good????

Ahem
Demonology nerd time :)
I love watching shows steal the same bits of demonology lore for WILDLY different reasons!
Ciel Phantomhive's contract seal, Black Butler - binds him to a demon, damning
Devil's Trap, Supernatural - binds a demon in place, protective
Pentagram of Solomon (the original symbol) - intended use was as a supplementary protective talisman, to be worn across the breast along with the seal of which-ever demon the Magician is attempting to summon. In other words, it has nothing to do with binding a demon in place, only with protecting the summoner.
I don't even know why SPN and Kuroshitsuji happened to both take "binding spell" away from this, and also take it in wildly different directions--but it's kinda funny

I really want to experiment with Jareth bearing some relation to or being Stolas. To me, they have a lot of similarities.

Just a heads up for anyone looking to start researching demonology or demonolatry!!
I’ve come across quite a bit of antisemetism when doing research, especially when trying to find stuff about the Ars Goetia.
Take care all and stay safe out there *:・゚✧

I wanna be like Stolas
I too want to teach astronomy and be knowledgeable about herbs, plants, and precious stones. He’s an awfully handsome gentleman, if I do say so myself.

On the topic of the lesser key of Solomon;
If we throw aside the fact that most people say you can't physically see a demon or will not disclose if they have or not, and the fact that there is no available evidence that anyone has,
Is there a reason you command the spirit to take on human form other than "ew, ugly"? Is there a concequence for not doing so?
Looking for advice from the experienced and well-studied to someone who isn't.

Demons: The Game of Evil Spirits -- Howard Chaykin cover for James F Dunnigan’s 1979 SPI game of treasure hunting and demonic summoning on the plains of medieval Armenia, inspired by the 16th century Lesser Key of Solomon
Demons was a board game with some RPG-light elements, with individual characters casting spells and conjuring the 72 demons named and ranked in the historic grimoire. It’s one of the few games of its type to include a page of designer’s historical notes, and even provided an address to write to obtain the actual text of the conjurations. SPI released it as Magic Capsule #1 (their version of the Microgame) and in boxed form.

How to make a magic carpet, become invisible, and find love are among the useful procedures detailed in this famous book of magic. Reputedly written by King Solomon himself, this major text of Western ritual magic contains chants, prayers, and instructions — both general and specific — on trafficking with the spirit world.
Editor and translator S. L. MacGregor Mathers was a leader of the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn, an influential group of magicians and mystics whose members included Arthur Machen, W. B. Yeats, and Evelyn Underhill. MacGregor Mathers based this extraordinary book on seven manuscripts from the British Museum's collections. Its formulas for conjuring up spirits and performing rituals offer a rich source of study for students of comparative religion, psychology, and the history of ideas. For working occultists, this classic provides a valuable and important guide to the execution of magical ceremonies.
