I've been in enough fandoms to know that this whole "radahn was beating malenia" thing is going to be one of those "fandom delusions" that will keep going on and on no matter what. It will not die. If the discourse comes up again on Elden Ring's anniversary, the same people will bring it up once more. Just fandoms being fucking exhausting, like clockwork.
Oh yeah for sure I don’t expect this to ever go away or anything. The whole “this vs that” has been a thing in quite a few fandoms for me too. I still remember the witcher fandom back in the day with whole Yen vs Triss thing and oh boy was that exhausting.
It’s funny how all this died down and then all it took was the game award hype to bring it back up again. Mainly the discussion surrounding the game being nominated for best narrative. You wait it’ll win goty then it’ll all come up again

Tom Saves The World
Everyone knows that it’s super-heroes who save the world. They fight the aliens, or the monsters, or the bad guys. And mostly, that’s true.
But not always.
I’m a psychic. The thing is, my range isn’t that great. I don’t have much detail more than about 36 hours out, 48 for something really big. I’d had a nebulous sort of bad feeling for about a week before this one finally hit, and it was big. Something very tough and very supernatural was going to come up out of the harbor of Nova Roma, and the death-toll was going to be high. Crazy high.
I did all I could. I told the Unaligned Supers Job Placement Agency, and they put the word out to everyone on both sides of the Line. The Henchman’s Union don’t like natural disasters any more than anyone else, and they’re often quite helpful against eldritch horrors and stuff like that. Things that don’t hire henchmen and ruin the property values.
The trouble was, nobody big was around. The only really big team of heavy hitters on the West Coast were away dealing with some sort of doomsday cult - I never was clear on what that was about - and Guarde and Dog Fox were out of touch and even Mx Frantique was out of town at someone’s wedding. It was going to happen in less than two days and we couldn’t find anyone to help and I was seriously considering calling in some kind of bomb threat or something to get people away from the docks, at least.
And then, about eighteen hours out, it just… went away.
Which never, ever happens.
My powers might be short range, but they’re reliable. I don’t get stuff wrong, and I hadn’t been able to find any way to prevent what was going to happen, or even been able to identify anyone who could. But someone did. Someone had done something to stop the threat, something that happened literally while I was opening my car door. When I reached for the handle, thousands of people were going to die. By the time the door was open, there was no threat at all.
At first I thought it must have been a ranged thing. Like, whatever I’d been seeing (all those teeth, I saw them in nightmares for months after) had been distracted by something tasty on its way here and gotten off track, that it’d come up somewhere up or down the coast. My range isn’t that big, either. Anything outside about thirty miles might as well be on Mars for all I know about it. So we kept a watch out, and warned the chapters of the Union and the Agency in other cities.
But nothing happened. Nothing at all. I couldn’t explain it, and I was really unpopular for a while. Supers do NOT like people who cry wolf. There’s enough freaky shit we have to deal with without someone panicking everyone with a dire prophecy that fizzles out.
Thank all the gods that Tunny showed up. Nobody’s really sure what Tunny actually is - sentient fish creature, some kind of really mutated human, an alien, or what. She changes her story a lot. But she’s pretty friendly, especially for a twenty-foot-long horror-movie-mermaid-thing with four arms, so when she came into harbor to pick up some supplies a guy from the Agency went out to tell her what I’d seen. I’d gotten a wharf and dock number, so she went down to check.
I don’t think anyone had ever seen Tunny scared before. Her English wasn’t good enough to really explain what she’d found hibernating down there, but it was something very old and very powerful and very dangerous, and if it’d been woken up my vision would just have been the start of the crisis.
She rounded up a bunch of whales to help her move it, once she was sure it hadn’t been agitated and wasn’t likely to rouse if moved carefully. They towed it out before dawn, not wanting to scare the civilians, and when I saw the footage from the helicopter the Union sent up, when I saw how big the swell was, how many whales were pulling, I swear I nearly crapped myself. No wonder I’d been getting hints a week in advance. Somehow we dumbass humans had built a whole fucking city almost on top of some kind of Ancient Old… THING, and eroded the sea-bottom until it was exposed, and if someone hadn’t done whatever it was we’d all have been dead long before Tunny arrived. And not just all as in ‘all of Nova Roma’, it could have taken out half of the continent... or all of it.
It took me years to find out what happened. YEARS. It turned into a kind of hobby, tracking everything that might possibly have come into contact with Wharf 38 on that particular day.
And what I found, eventually, was a city employee named Thomas Briggs.
I’d found out early on that 38 wasn’t in good repair. Not that bad, but not great. It was old, things were getting a bit saggy in a few places, but there’d been no sign that anything was likely to fall off on the day. It had sat there for a couple of years after the crisis that never happened,, doing its job without problems then been rebuilt without any drama at all.
Entirely, completely, and totally because of Thomas Briggs.
The story, when I finally pieced it together, went like this.
There’d been some project or other to build some sort of high-budget science project over on the other side of the harbor, hanging it off’ve Pier 8, the furthest out on that side. Something about tracking sea-life or ships or something. My conversational English is near perfect, I’ve been here for years, but I don’t speak science nerd in ANY language. It’d all been approved, some university was covering most of the cost, it was all gonna be fine. And it was gonna be over on 8 because that side of the harbor is the shallow end. It’s where the sailboats go. All the big stuff that would block visual sensors and deafen the thing with engine noise was over in the thirties, in the real deep water.
They were almost ready to install the thing when a bunch of rich dudes suddenly got their panties in a bunch over having a big sciency tower thing ruining the view from their yachts, and tried to get it moved.
To, and I’m sure you guessed this, Wharf 38.
Which was completely insane. It wouldn’t be able to do its job over there, it’d be way more in the way, and (although they couldn’t have known it) the installation would definitely have woken up the Thing sleeping by the wharf and we all would have died. But rich dudes with yachts don’t care about that stuff. They’d bitched out and bribed up their friends on the city council, and those friends had done their thing, and the scientists had been left in the dark, and it’d almost gone through. They’d figured to install it right away, so that when the science guys found out it’d be too late and they’d either have to pay a lot to move it or just use it where it was.
Enter Thomas Briggs.
Mr Briggs, Tom to his friends, didn’t give a crap about the yachts or the science. He was a senior money guy for the commercial wharfs, the one who figured out things like how much money they’d take in in a quarter, and what the repair budget should be, stuff like that. He found out about this thing two days before the disaster would have happened, and sat down and did the math.
Then he sent out an email to the guys trying to push this through, and he ripped into them like they’d threatened to knife his mother. I got my hands on that email, and I didn’t understand a lot of it any more than the council guys would have. It was ALL numbers. But at the top he wrote it out in plain English. Pier 8 was new, and rated to handle the weight of the thingy. Wharf 38 was going to be scrapped in a few years, and it was NOT rated for that kind of structure. Pier 8 had plenty of room around it. Wharf 38 was already a tight fit for the big commercial ships, and adding a structure sticking out on one side would block off at least half of the wharf to those ships completely.
Bottom line, putting the thing on Wharf 38 would cost the city hundreds of thousands of dollars more per year than putting it on 8, AND the city would have to eat the cost if 38 collapsed under it which it could easily do, AND the city would have to pay to move it in a couple of years anyway when 38 was due to be rebuilt.
And he cc-ed every important person he had an email address for, including the mayor, the anti-corruption people, and several reporters.
He must have sent that email right when I was opening my car door.
The whole plan collapsed right there, and some people got fired. There was no news story because the whole plan got killed before the reporters even got to the right office. The installation was started on Wharf 8 a few weeks later and I never connected it to a commercial wharf on the other side of the harbor.
One email, and a man who I never could have located in time, a man who had no powers at all, a man who was just conscientiously doing his job looking after the city’s money saved the city, and the continent, and maybe even the world.
Who could have predicted that? Not me, that’s for damn sure.
I can’t deny that I went home and got drunk off my ass that night. Just thinking about how close that had been made my hands shake. One man. One honest man who’d done the math.
I put the word out, once the hangover wore off. What had happened. That Thomas Briggs was the reason we were all alive and everyone better make his life real nice from now on, because he’d done what none of us could do and nobody but the supers would ever even know it.
He’s got a lot of luck coming to him, I can tell you. We don’t forget debts like that.
And I knew that’d freak him out, because honest men don’t like it when people start doing them a lot of favors for no apparent reason, so I tracked him down at the little bar where he likes to have a quiet beer on Friday nights before he goes home. Hell, I was the one who’d gone through it all, back then. I should get to tell him.
I sat down beside him at the bar and looked at him. I saw a thin, small, balding man who looked like he worried too much and didn’t get enough sleep, with lines around his eyes. Yeah, he looked like a man who’d do the math. “Thomas Briggs?”
He blinked at me through his glasses. “Yes? Do I know you?”
“No, you don’t. My name’s Barkhado Omar, and I’ve been looking for you for a long time.” I offered him my hand and he shook it, still looking confused. Which was fair, ‘cause I doubt a lot of seven foot tall Somali women came up to him in bars even when he was young. He’s got to be close to retirement now.
He frowned. “Looking for me? Why?”
I smiled at him. “Tom, let me buy you a drink and tell you about the day you saved the world.”
It’s usually us who save the city, or the world. We have all the intel, all the advantages, all the powers.
But sometimes it’s not. Sometimes it’s someone like Tom Briggs, doing the right thing at the right time and never knowing that he changed the course of history.
Wild, huh?
--
This story is a direct result of me and my ex chatting about how different the entire Marvel Universe would have been if Jean’s first ‘resurrection’ - being found in a life pod under a wharf, IIRC - had happened at like... any other time. Earlier. Later. It would have changed SO MUCH.
And we speculated about how it could happen, how someone just puttering around in middle management might have unknowingly saved countless lives, prevented Madelyne’s corruption, the legacy virus, all of it, just by postponing that particular set of repairs a bit longer.... and I couldn’t resist writing a version of the story in which Tom does, in fact, save the world.

Child Support Part 2
Tim watched the other young heroes as they tried to look around the watch tower without seeming like they were. He's been here plenty of times, but the rest of the Teen Titans and a few of the Young Justice hasn't.
Much was due to the older heroes leaving the younger ones alone. Some not taking them seriously enough to welcome them at the big HQ as much as that made his blood boil.
They were taking the same risks. They were fighting the same good fights. Why was their age the main reason they weren't treated equally?
Some teenage heroes weren't part of a team per see, but they always answered when a call was sent. For example, Cass and Steph were present, speaking softly to Static Shock. Damian was standing next to Jon and his little friend Colin who was just getting into the swing of the hero business.
Bruce almost bit through his tongue when Damian told him Abuse would be joining Robin on parol, and he could do nothing to stop them. (Tim felt like he was watching Damian tell Bruce a paraphrased version of "But Daddy, I love him!" and it kept him smiling for weeks)
It was wild to see almost every young hero in one place. He doesn't think this happened since the last time Justice Leauge got mind controlled and almost destroyed the whole world.
"Any idea why we're here?" Kon asks to his right, lowering his shade to stare at the Outlaws. Jason's team stood to the side chatting iddly while cleaning over thier weapons.
Kon's always like their punk point of view, and he knows his best friend wants to go over there to talk to them. If it wasn't for the issue of the clone still being mad about what Jason did at the Teen Titans tower. Almost murder was hard to forgive for people outside the Bats.
"None. All I know is that John Constantine sent out a message to every teenage superhero group calling for a meet-up," Tim responds.
Bart whistles with a grimace on his right. "Must be bad if that guy is asking."
"I heard Hawkwoman tell Superman that she was worried and wasn't sure she wanted anyone of us mixed up in Constantine's mistakes." Cassie chimes in from where she leans on the couch. The three turn to her as she lowers her voice, attempting to keep the others from hearing. "Batman told her off for it."
"Batman did?" Tim asks, surprised.
Cassie shrugs, throwing a bit of her blond hair over her shoulder. "As much Batman can emote anyway."
Yeah, that sounded about right. Though it must have been something Bruce found disrespectful. His dad usually never reprimanded strangers unless they were saying something or doing something that sounded far too much like bigotry to him.
But to apply that to Constantine? Someone, Bruce generally disliked communicating with because the man tended to backstab his contacts? Yes, Constantine wasn't evil, but he wasn't pleasant either.
If Bruce had magical issues, he tended to contact Zatanna first.
Just then, the watch tower's zeta beams activate. Everyone who gathered turns to the teleporting pads where Constantine appears looking, for lack of a better word, absolutely exhausted. Even Tim knows that his eye bags aren't that bad, and he's usually going hours without sleep.
"Oh good, you all made it," Constantine says, sipping from a mug and wearing nothing but sweatpants and what looks like a nightgown. His signature trench coat was nowhere in sight. "I'm going to be quick about this. I need a team of young heroes willing to accept my son into their fold."
The room is dead silent. Constantine sighs. "Look, I've tried everything, but it's like Danny is allergic to laying low. He fought with a demon the other day over a child's doll- which you all know happens. People get haunted! But Danny refused to do it the right way, and now I had to beat off the demon's marriage proposal at least ten times. Not to mention his lack of social skills! No matter which one I stick him in, he can't seem to make friends in school. He got shoved into a locker on his first day! I thought that was an American exaggeration of the telly!"
Constantine pauses and takes a large gulp of whatever he's drinking before continuing his rant. A hand runs through his already messy hair, leaving it in bigger disarray as he speaks. "He's behind in terms of trends and technology cause his other father raised him outside of the typical timelines, so sometimes it's like talking to someone from the early two thousand, and other times it's like he's a modern Victorian era lad. His powers are also all over the place because the ectoplasm in our world is thicker, so when he breathes it in, he losses his control. Just the other day he accidentally made himself fly through our ceiling and almost reach the atmosphere before I was able to bring him back down."
A few of the fliers in the room wince. Jon nods and whispers under his breath, though his voice carries in the silence. "Yeah, been there before. Flying can be scary if you don't know how to come down."
Johns glances around at all the young people, eyes showing a tad bit of desperation. "He's sad all the time now, and I don't know how to help. If working with you could help him make friends, I would be grateful. He's a great kid. He just needs to adjust."
Tim had no idea what to do with this information; how do you respond to arguably one of the strongest Justice League Darks' heroes asking for a play date for his son?
"How old is the child?" Damian's voice rings out. Colin's hand is attached to his sleeve, a slightly nervous smile on the boy's face as he attempts to hide from the staring heroes behind his brother. Tim bets that if he wasn't wearing the domino mask, they would be able to see slight tears in Colin's eyes.
Damian's other hand goes across his body to cover Colin's hand, and Tim fights a shit-eating grin. His eyes lock with Jason, and the two send each other knowing grins. Looks like Bruce did have to worry about Damian having a secret boyfriend.
He can't wait to tease Damian later.
"He's fourteen....or well, physically?" Constantine answers eagerly.
"What does that mean?" Kon asks this time.
"Okay, so he's half human, half ecto-being. He sired him with his other father, Clockwork, which was only four years ago in this dimension, but since he was raised in the Infinite Relemas, times move differently there? " The British man says, and Raven goes rigid.
"Clockwork, as in the most powerful Ancient?" She asks, looking horror-struck when Constantine nods.
Before anyone asked what that meant, the zeta tubes activated again without permission. Someone had hacked into their systems which were ten levels bad. Everyone naturally fell into a fighting stance, only to blink when a teenage boy stepped out with a loud excited screech.
"We're in space!" The teenager runs to one of the windows, pressing his hands and face up against the glass. "This is amazing!"
Tim only relaxes his muscles once Constantine clears his throat. "Chum...what are you doing here?"
"Oh. One of your curse rocks things started proposing to me again, so I ran out of the House of Mysteries. Thought I see what you were up to." The teenager says, turning around with a smile and utterly freezing at the sight of the gathered heroes.
He had dark hair, wide blue eyes, and the most adorable face Tim had ever seen. Not as sexy as Bernard, of course, but darn close. Judging by the looks of anyone attractive to males, most heroes thought the same.
"Um...hi?" He says, offering the Godsmack teenagers a helpless little shrug. "I'm Danny Constantine."
"It is a pleasure, Constantine." Damian marches over to him with all his little twelve-year-old authority. He barely reaches Danny's chest. "I shall look forward to working with you. Are you formally trained in combat or strictly magic?"
"Um...oh, I can throw a punch or two? I'm mostly self taught. I rely on my powers a lot?" Danny fumbles to answer throwing a desperate look at his presumed father.
"No matter. I shall have you begin training. My Beloved also needs to work on his form. There is no shame in this" Damian nods, and Constantine lets out a large sigh of relief. He jogs over to place a hand on his son's shoulder, giving him a one-sided hug
"Yes, Danny, you will join Robin, Superboy, and Abuse on missions. They agree to help you settle and get used to your ghost powers." Constantine smiles. "I'll give me time to discourage all those idiots from trying to trick you into marriage."
"Oh...okay. It's nice to meet you all. Please call me Phantom on the field. Um, are you the team leader?" He asks Damian as the three youngest boys lead him further into the watch tower.
Constantine watches them go with the brightest smile he's ever seen on the man's face. He looks back to the group, who were barely starting to pick their jaws off the floor and makes a shooing motion with his hand. "You lot are dismissed."
Then the man vanishes in a green portal.
There is a ringing silence until Barts blurts out. "I'm pretty sure this is where the Phantom Fan Club first formed. A historical moment."
Tim wants to take a nap.

things that I overlooked in PJO the first time / small, funny things I noticed during my reread
Part 4: The Battle of the Labyrinth
it's been way way way too long, I'm sorry, but I'm back with part 4 and part 5 will be uploaded by Monday!!
Whenever I thought about her [Rachel] (and I'm not saying I thought about her; she just like crossed my mind from time to time, okay?), ... this is after meeting her once!
She bared her fangs. I was so paralysed I couldn't move but Rachel through a snare drum at the empousa's head. Rachel is a beast with inanimate objects
We'd [Percy & Annabeth] fought together so many times we knew each other's moves. We could do this, easy.
Annabeth's hand slipped into mine. Under different circumstances I would've been embarrassed, but here in the dark I was glad to know where she was. It was about the only thing I was sure of. CUTEST
"I wouldn't have paid any attention except... well, it was Luke." She [Juniper] blushed a little greener. Grover huffed. "Forget what I said about good taste."
I stepped away from Annabeth. "We were just looking at maps," I said stupidly. Malcolm stared at me. "Okay."
"Percy, the spider's getting away. Do you really want me to explain the exact details of how I was born?" "Umm...no. That's okay."
Annabeth glared at me like she was going to punch me. Then she did something that surprised me even more. [...] I probably would've sat there for the rest of the day, staring at the lava and trying to remember what my name was, but the sea demons jarred me back to reality.
"They sent you to me, my brave one, knowing that you would break my heart." "But... I'm just... I mean, I'm just me." Percy has everyone in love with him and he still asks 'me?'
For the rest of my life I would always be thinking about her [Calypso]. She would always be my biggest what if. must be weird now that she's back and with Leo
"He was probably the bravest friend I've ever had. He..." Then she saw me. Her face went blood red. "He's right there!" then cut to: "You are the single most annoying person I have ever met!" And she stormed out of the room. I stared at the doorway. I felt like hitting something. "So much for being the bravest friend she's ever had."
Without waiting for us to protest, he picked up Annabeth and me as easily as if we were kittens, slung us both on his back, and galloped off towards the Big House. picturing this is hilarious
I left him in his wheelchair, staring sadly into the fireplace. I wondered how many times he'd sat here, waiting for heroes that never came back. ouch
Annabeth laughed. It was the first time, I'd heard her laugh in a long time. It was nice to hear.
The number had washed off my hand a long time ago, but that was ok. Without meaning to, I'd memorised it. he memorised Rachel's number!
How could this be a temple for my dad? My dad was a nice guy. He'd never asked me for a Father's Day card much less somebody's skull.
Ethan sneered. "There's no right side. The gods never cared about us. Why shouldn't I-" "Sign up with an army that makes you fight to death for entertainment?" Annabeth said. "Gee, I wonder." I love annabeth so so much
"Ow!" He yelled. For a moment it was only Luke's voice, full of surprise and pain. :(
Paul scratched his beard. "I don't know if it's permission, so much, but she's your mother. And I know you're going through a lot. I wouldn't feel right if I didn't talk to you about it first, man to man." [...] I thought about Paul and my mom, how she smiled and laughed more whenever he was around, and how Paul had gone out of his way to get me into high school. I found myself saying, "I think that's a great idea, Paul. Go for it." Sally and Paul are so wholesome
"And you Percy, are my favourite son." He [Poseidon] smiled, and at that moment, just being with him in the kitchen with him was the best birthday present I ever got.
the last olympian is left! on Monday, I promise :) let me know if you want the series to continue into heroes of Olympus, I'm really enjoying my reread

The Flowers of Fate - Part 1: The Wheel Turns
There be Heavensward spoilers ahead. tw: Death
The sun glowed a vibrant orange as it was setting. Iris was tired from her fight with Ser Charibert. However there wasn’t any time to waste. They needed to stop Thordan with any means possible.
“Fall back!” Ser Zephirin called out to his comrade. Despite his injuries, Ser Charibert limped away as quickly as he could. With the help of Alphinaud and Hauchefant, Iris was able to get back on her feet. The three gave chase to the two knights. They made it through the spire. Only to be greeted by an air dock. And there he was waiting for the airship overhead.
This all seemed familiar to Iris but she couldn’t place her finger on it. It felt like those  heroic tales you would have read as a child. Where the hero makes it to the big bad guy for their final conflict. Is this truly how it all ends? A voice called from behind her, breaking her thoughts. “Father,Please.” it was Ser Aymeric, limbing, surely from the torture that Thordan and the Heavensward gave him.
Estinien and Lucia were not too far behind. “For a mercy, we were not too late.” the gruff voice of Estinien directed his words to Iris.
She nodded at him. “And for that, we shall be thankful.”
“Why must you do this, Father?! Nidhogg is Fallen! There is no need for further deception! Now is the time to renounce the lies which led us down this path–to start anew!” Aymeric shouted at Thordan, hoping that his words could get through to him.
“And tear down the very pillars of society–our history, our values–everything we have built over a thousand years?” Thordan sighed  “A fool to the last.” He continued onward the airship. Knowing that if they didn’t act then he would get what he wanted. Hauchefant knew what Iris was thinking. The two sprang into action.
Hauchefant took off first with her following him. They were focused on Thordan. They didn’t notice there was a knight up upon the spires behind them. The knight produced a spear of light. It flew through the sky. At the blink of an eye it pierced Iris through the chest. She collapsed to the floor, blood spilling out.
Her sight was dimming. She was barely making out what the others were saying. She felt a bit of warmth. Perhaps Alphinaud was trying to heal the wound. She knows that it won’t do anything. She knows that she isn’t long for this world.
Iris tried looking for Hauchefant. It was faint, but she felt something holding her hand. She looked over. Her breaths were getting heavier. She was able to make out his expression of horror. “I’m sorry Hauchefant, I couldn’t be the hero that everyone needed.” Her hand goes limp in his. She closed her eyes once more, never to open them again as she drew her final breath. Her soul had returned to the aether sea.
The others would join her not too long after her. Ysayle was first. The group continued to pursue Thordan and the knights twelve. While they were giving chase, the Empire also were following them. She gave them enough time to get into Azys Lla by sacrificing herself as Shiva. Then it was Hauchefant, who fell when confronting King Thordan and the Knights of the Round. With his death no one could stop what Thordan was going to do to the dragons.
With all that happened, Aymeric and Lucia were charged with treason against them and sentenced to death in the court of Ishgard. It was made public to warn the rest of Ishgard what would happen if the citizenry opposed their new king.
Estinien, though he tried his best to resist, turned to Nidhogg from the influence of the eye. It was his desire for revenge after Hauchefant’s death that transformed him. His end was similar to the end of all dragon-kind in Dravania. As for Alphinaud, the last that any of them knew was in hiding from the king of Ishgard.

Wuwa act 1-V ongoing.
The game warned me that the next section is gonna be long, so I was decided to leave it for tomorrow (probably).
Anyway, this section introduces the Black Shores group and some Rover answers (small answers). We also get to see mystery opening cutscene girl again for a moment. Still pretty! So pretty!
Black Shores: To make sure you don't think this shady organization is like the other shady organization you just dealt with (Fractsidus, the actual apocalyptic cult), they make it really clear that, Camellya aside, these are the Silly People. Unfortunately, I think Encore's voice acting is probably the worst of the EN dub so far? The EN dub in general suffers from fairly poor voice direction (flat delivery on some characters, one sentence and the next having completely different emotions and intonations, etc), but Encore is just... she's meant to be a cutesy little girl, but man. They did not manage it at all. I'm sure she sounds adorable in JP tho. Regardless, she and Aalto are just max silliness. Oh, Aalto had this to say about his boss:
Tumblr media
Rover stuff: One of the reasons everyone Knows about Rover and how cool we are is apparently because we have appeared previously (to presumably help fight disasters). The previous time Rover "descended," they were a member of Black Shores. So it's possible the ancient hero who helped found Huanglong was also Rover, though it's not entirely confirmed.
Mystery Girl: The mad scientist referred to her like this:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
A "future being hailing from our past" who must reach the real Gate that can change the world... Well, it'll be explained later.
I stopped after beating the mechanical monstrosity, when Aalto reactivates the Lament detection system and runs out in a panic. You can tell I'm getting kind of invested here because I spun around in a circle for a while going "oh no, this is gonna be bad, what's happening up there" (before chickening out for the night). I'm not actually scared, of course, but there's some real sense of anticipation about what might happen next.
I think it's because they have done way more about answering questions than I had genshin-expected. Yeah, we obviously still don't know the majority of things, but I have a fairly clear understanding of the world state just from what the actual story tells you and we're even slowly being told about Rover's deal(tm). So whatever happens next might actually be A Thing With Relevance.
That aside, we've been seeing some playable characters in small roles, which is nice. We saw Jianxin before she peaced out, Verina for a bit, and now Encore. Since Lingyang introduces himself in his character quest, he probably isn't in the main story (government subsidy conspiracy intensifies). So that just leaves Sephiroth clone Calcharo of the standard 5 star characters. Curious to see what his deal is! He's pretty edgy, it'll be fun. (There's obviously also a ton of 4 stars, but there's so many that I don't see how they could fit them in anyway, so it's not a big deal.)
I think Act VI is the last part of the currently available story (Chapter 1: Huanglong 1?)... It'll probably be about Jiyan, since Jue had a vision of us meeting him. I actually thought that would be our next destination, but I guess we decided to do the Black Shores stuff first, since the front line is supposed to be so dangerous. Twitter and a storyteller insert narration have promised me that Jiyan might have something something with another guy steeped in tragedy (Geshu Lin).
Oh, one more thing. While the "side quest"s" parts of the main story aren't exactly all gripping, they do seem to generally have their purpose. Even the stupid mangosteen token was setting up the Jiyan stuff, since we otherwise don't see him for so long and the front line ties into the Threnobian and Lament danger. But what was the point of the sugar candy vaccine?? That has to tie into something, right? But what??
Goddammit, I can't believe I'm developing expectations here...

REACTIONS TO EPISODE 23 - DEKU VS CLASS A
You know how it goes!
LAST EPISODE'S REACTIONS
I am so not prepared for this episode! 😃
That's right, Katsuki, call him out!
Whoa whoa whoa! Pause! Land Mine Blast... when can he do that?!
"You'd run away without even talking it out?" Yes! Sounds quite familiar... 👀
OH, KOJI KODAAAA!!! MY SUNSHINE!!!
Aaaaw, the flashback of Izuku and Hanta training together!!! Hanta's smile!! My heart!!
Tumblr media
THESE KIDS ARE GONNA MAKE ME CRY!!!
Rikido using Eri though! "I won't lend you my food coloring for Eri's apple candy!"
"It's alright. Eri will be alright." NOT WITHOUT HER BIG BRO IZUKU THERE, YOU DAMN IDIOT!!!
That contraption Yaomomo made is by far the strangest ones yet and I must know how she even constructed that in her head.
A HYPNOSIS DEVICE!! How did he even know... wait, no, this is Izuku Midoriya I'm talking about. Of course, he would know.
This rabbit demon just broke the helmet... with force from his head... he headbutted the thing...
"Midoriya, let's take a shower!" THEY KEPT THE PART!!! 🤣🤣🤣 DENKI!!!
"But I sensed nothing at all." Because they're not trying to hurt you, they want you back, sweetie!
"So please... Stay away from me!" SEE WHAT YOU DID, AFO?! GOT MY GREEN SUNSHINE SEPARATING HIMSELF FROM THE PEOPLE HE CARES ABOUT!! FUCK YOU!!
Daiki Yamashita once again putting his heart into Izuku's voice. He sounds so hurt, so desperate. 😭😭😭
They're all doing a damn good job honestly, I'm very close to crying!
Here's Shoto with this giant ass ice wall!!
"Is your responsibility stopping you from shedding tears?" Yeah...
"You are our friend." Alright, Tsu got me. I'm crying now! 😭😭😭😭
Dictator... ugh that bitch.
Wait was this scene in the manga??
The kids just ran off because Izuku is important to them and that is so damn beautiful!
Look, Shoto, I know you're trying to keep him still, but... at this point you might give him hypothermia. Chill out... and I'm realizing the joke I did there.
ARE THEY PLAYING YOU SAY RUN?! THAT'S MY JAM!!!
YOU MISSED! HOW COULD YOU MISS?! HE WAS TEN FEET IN FRONT OF YOU!!
The class yelling "GO" together!!! No, folks, for real, I got tears!!
Katsuki!!! "Deku, I have things to tell you. There is something I must tell you! But right now, I'll let the guy who can withstand this speed do the talking first!"
GO, TENYA, GO!!!
THE HANDS!!! THE HANDS!!! 😭😭😭💙💙💙
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"... it's those who will fight alongside him in the journey." The 2nd User gets it!! You damn right!!
"Let go." IZUKU, SHUT UP RIGHT NOW, YOUNG MAN!!
HE CRIED AT TENYA'S WORDS!!! HE CRIED!!
GAVE MY CLASS REP HIS TITLE SCREEN, HELL YES!! 💙💙💙
Oh, they put Katsuki's hero name!! NICE!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
NICE CATCH, KIRISHIMA!!! YOU GO, BOY!!
"But... I'm scared." Izuku... please...
Oh, Katsuki Bakugou walking up, I know where this is going. 👀
Ooooh, Katsuki, dude, man... you only said a single sentence and I'm crying a little harder.
He looks so soft...
Tumblr media
"But I've always been the inferior." KATSUKI, PLEASE!!
Oh, the shots of them going from kids to teens... 😭😭😭
HE CALLED IZUKU!!! AAAAAAAAHHHH!!!
He ran to catch Izuku... I'm going to lay down after this.
Izuku just lets himself settle in Katsuki's arms... yeah, that's how I feel. DRAINED.
Okay, not the colors I had been thinking for Thirteen's real face and body.
Tumblr media
DAAAAAMN. I did not think the barrier would be that big!!! NEZU GOT BANK FOR REAL!!!
Tumblr media
"I wish I could return everyone's kindness." You've done enough, sweetheart.
Fuck every single one of those people who said Izuku can't come into the school THAT HE FUCKING ATTENDS!! YOU SONS OF BITCHES, HE'S BEEN PUSHING HIMSELF TO PROTECT YOU!!! FUCK YOU!
Known fact, my least favorite people on the whole series is the "civilians".
"Who is there to protect the hero?" Ochaco, you best girl for a reason! (All the girls are really.)
This episode just... I can't... it was beautiful!!

how is cloud this awkward
he's SO awkward.
Like, Cloud tries to mask his self with the tough soldier's front but he's genuinely a dork and rather socially awkward and doesn't always know what to do and all. He's so, so often awkward, or doing something silly just because.
And generally once his friends manage to peel through the tough guy facade they get to tease him more because actually, he's such a dork, and so he is just even more awkward because his broody face isn't saving him anymore.
He's such a fun character. The only place he's always comfortable with is fighting. Anything else he's like a deer caught in the headlights.
though if you want a serious answer, i'm inviting you under the read more (but also, spoilers)
like on the big why? he was not getting along with the kids of his hometown who found him a bit weird because he was shy and reserved, and while Tifa did like him as a friend, her group of friends were mostly uncomfortable around Cloud because of that
(adding to it Cloud only lived with his mother, who was single, never clarified what happened to the father aside from the fact Cloud never knew him, and there was a stigma over his mom raising a kid alone which also served to isolate them a little due to the rumors and stuff, all while Cloud didn't want to be a burden to his mother so he didn't rely on her heavily).
and then eventually, Tifa had an accident the folks of the village thought Cloud had provoked (she learnt about her mother death and ran into the mountain they lived on to cry, and Cloud tried to follow her because it was dangerous, and Tifa slipped and fell in a huge gap, and Cloud tried to catch her but fell with her. When the adults found them, Tifa has been severely injured, but Cloud got away with it only with scrapped knees. So people basically started rumoring it's Cloud who must have dragged her there and it's his fault. And Cloud started to believe it too.)
All of this to say, it isolated him even more and all, and because of his guilt over it he himself took his distances from Tifa.
So he basically grew up without a real friend group and this weird sense of guilt toward Tifa, and so he played it tough because the one thing encouraging him is that he wanted to be a hero like Sephiroth (who was already a war hero at the time). And because everyone wanted to be a hero like Sephiroth, well, he also had a tad of a superiority complex that he's not like those NORMAL KIDS, HE will make it to Soldier, for sure!
so he left his hometown only after promising to Tifa he'll come back when he can protect her (it's a promise she asked him to make to be clear)
But joining the army as a teen didn't solve any of his problems (who would have thought) because at this point he was already rude and offputting and when he failed to pass the Soldier's appliances and was instead put in the Infantry, he was extremely salty but also soulcrushed that he was not as good as he had hoped he could be.
And so on that level he was already socially awkward from not managing to connect with people as a kid, and when he joined the army he found this gap even more jarring and it's implied he didn't really make a lot of friends there because he's was a jerk to them.
It's when he met Zack that things became a little different, because Zack was this cool Soldier First Class, friend of Sephiroth, who immediately found Cloud cool because of the same nerdy things he would do. He immediately hit off with Zack because Zack basically build him up and encouraged him and mentored him.
Like in Crisis Core there's a few scenes where Cloud is even surprised Zack remembers him while Zack is like "how could i forget you", the others infantry folks made fun of Cloud because he's motion sick while Zack genuinely cared and worried for him, you even have a scene where Zack invites Cloud for dinner and the others Infantry men Cloud was around at the time kinda invited themselves and Cloud was too awkward to set boundaries because he can't quite monopolize their superior right? (but Zack just wanted to spend time with Cloud so it was awkward for him too).
hell, Cloud was in the SAME ROOM AT ZACK and then when Zack JUST LEFT THE ROOM Cloud sent him this:
Tumblr media
they were IN THE SAME ROOM. CLOUD STRIFE MOST AWKWARD OF THEM ALL.
and also this is an email Cloud sent him, too, while they were STILL ROOMING IN THE SAME ROOM:
Tumblr media
sorry i got lost in the sauce i'm unwell, but basically the tldr, Cloud is this awkward because he literally just mostly was isolated in his youth trying not to be a burden and feeling guilty for anything that happened next to him, was even more isolated and awkward once he joined the army and realized he wasn't as good as he hoped his status as an outcast would make him, and he just sucks at communicating with people.
the two people he ever admired so much that when he got amnesia he based his personalities around them were Sephiroth and Zack.
while keeping in mind that Sephiroth's ultimate betrayal really messed Cloud up and made him unable to look up to him again, while Zack literally died for Cloud.
But as we move in the OG, as he plays up his whole "i'm not here to make friends, i'm here to fight" persona that he carefully crafted without realizing, he gets to meet people who make him drop his mask. and under all of this cool and jaded persona he built up, he's just an awkward kid who never could connect with anyone and the only people he genuinely looked up to ended up fucking him up quite badly.
so i lost track of what i meant but this is why Cloud is just genuinely this awkward. It's honestly more of a surprise that he manages to be as composed as he is tbh

Of All the People - Ch. 8
chapter 8 chapter 8 chapter 8 lets goooo . written by me and @ectolemonades and @attackradish for invisobang, with lovely art in chapter 1 by @/toasty-ghosti <3
whole fic summary: After a stupid dare puts Dash Baxter in the lab at Fentonworks during the middle of a ghost fight, he finds himself a little more spectral than usual. Apparently Danny Fenton’s gone through the same thing (someone has got to call OSHA on these guys eventually), and who could better help Dash than his hero? His lame, stubborn hero?
warnings: Nothin' for this chapter other than classic Dash anguish. In other chapters, existential crises, and Spectra.

===
The second car ride of the evening didn't have the same tension, but the air was just as heavy with everyone's exhaustion. Tucker was yawning before they even left his house, Sam looked deflated when she climbed the stairs to her front door.
Dash himself resisted the urge to stretch out across the backseat. It was only a short drive to his house, and he’d barely get to rest before being wrenched from that comfort.
They were there before he knew it. Dash could feel his limbs clinging to gravity as he struggled to get out of the car. “Thanks for the drive, Jazz. Be safe getting home.”
“Of course! Get plenty of rest and if you need to talk about anything, you know where to find me.”
Dash gave her the best smile and nod he could muster and resigned to the trudge up to his house. Behind him, he heard one of the car doors open.
“-’m gonna get out here too, I’ll see you at home later.”
“Danny!”
Dash didn’t really catch the brief argument, only something about his "first real ghost fight”. Dash turned to see what was happening, but whatever Danny had said just made Jazz sigh and nod in response.
Great, Dash thought. I’m about to hear about what a fuck-up I am.
Jazz drove away and Danny turned to face Dash, standing awkwardly on the sidewalk.
“Do you want to come in?” Dash offered. That was all Danny needed before he was the one leading Dash into the house.
“Dash? Is that you?”
“Shit-” Dash panicked. “Yeah! Hi, Mom! Just gotta take my shoes off!” It hadn’t even crossed his mind that she’d be home. She was probably worried sick after hearing about the ghost attack. “Dude, what am I supposed to tell her about this?” he whispered to Danny, gesturing to his bandaged arm.
Danny scrambled to yank his hoodie off intangibly and held it out to Dash. “Put this on.”
Dash’s mind raced as he dropped the duffel bag with his football gear and struggled to get the hoodie over his head. What are we thinking? This is obviously not going to fit. Or— uh— it does, just a little snug— guess it was pretty big on Danny. How is he that small anyway? Phantom seems so much bigger, must be the glow or something– OH SHIT MY MOM–
Dash gathered himself and gestured for Danny to follow him into the living room.
Immediately, his mom rushed over and cupped his face, kissing both his cheeks before stepping back. “I was so worried! I’m glad you made it home okay, and your friend did too! Danny, right?”
Dash’s face flushed, both from the rush of affection from his mom and from her recognizing Danny. He didn’t think he’d talked about him that much, she must have just recognized him from elementary school birthday parties or something. Moms are weird like that.
“Yes, Danny Fenton. It’s nice to meet you,” Danny responded politely.
Dash’s mom looked between the two boys in front of her, smiling and raising an eyebrow at Dash.
If Dash’s face could get redder, it did. He’d mentioned being gay one time. Now he wished he would have stayed in the closet, if only to avoid his mom acting like every new guy friend he made was a potential boyfriend.
“Would either of you like a snack?”
“No, thank you,” Danny said.
“We were just gonna hang out upstairs for a bit, if that’s okay,” Dash said.
“Of course! Let me know if you need a ride home, okay? I don’t want either of you out walking after that ghost attack tonight,” Dash’s mom said.
She pulled Dash in for a hug and he was just about to lose the fight against her arms when the phone rang from the kitchen. “I’ll get that. You two have fun, and be safe!”
Dash groaned and Danny laughed. “Your mom is still just as nice as she was when we were six.”
“I love her, she’s just a lot sometimes. C’mon, my room’s upstairs,” Dash said, nodding his head in the direction they needed to go. He led Danny toward the stairs, passing the kitchen where his mom was on the phone.
The snippet of conversation he heard made him stop in his tracks, leaving Danny to bump into him.
“Dash?”
His mom's voice was more important right now. “Well, he did go to the doctor, and she asked him to take it easy. Yeah? Okay, I’ll talk to him about taking a step back.”
The emotions swelled up before Dash could stop them. It had been such an awful night already, and now this again?
“They bench me for one game that we didn’t even finish and decide they don’t need me anymore? Fine! They can’t have me then, because I quit!” Dash cried. He stormed up to his room and slammed the door, forgetting about everything else and leaving Danny stunned in his wake.
===
Damn it! He wasn't of any use to anybody! Fuck! Tetslaff thought he contributed so little that she just pushed him off after one injury! Since getting powers he'd been trying to help Phantom but no, that's even worse! Dash wasn't just useless, he was a liability!
…Shit. Danny.
I just left him down there! Maybe Danny left. Dash couldn't hear any conversation from downstairs. Or maybe it was just quiet. Maybe he was down there, having a one-on-one conversation with Dash's mom, telling her about all the terrible things he's done to him… she'd kill him.
Heh. Well, maybe not. In fact, she'd probably just move the CRT out of his room and not mention it.
She never talks about stuff like that.
Knock knock knock
Danny gently opened the door to Dash's room without waiting for a response.
"Hey, man, how are you feeling?"
"Why do you care?"
Danny seemed to brush off the snippy response. It was clear the question was more to announce his presence than to get an answer. “Think you know how to handle that wound?”
“I’ll be fine,” Dash said. Did he think he was a child who couldn’t handle a little scratch? It was hard not to let everything get under his skin now.
“Alright. Just, come show it to me at least once a day while it’s healing. I can make sure you get the supplies you need to treat it while we get a better understanding of how you heal."
Silence hung between the two boys. It seemed like the right time for Danny to leave, but Dash found himself almost thankful he was hanging around.
“How are you gonna hide your injury from your mom?”
Dash snorted. “I could leave it out. If she asked, all I have to say is I was doing some dumb shit like messing around in the woods with my friends and she wouldn’t bring it up again. She doesn’t really care when I get in trouble.” He scoffed under his breath. “Wish she’d give more of a shit sometimes.”
Danny looked sympathetic, but Dash quickly pushed the subject. “What about you?”
“I’m just gonna go home. My parents won’t know where I’ve been all day, and they won’t even think to ask. I mean, we both literally died in my basement and they don't have a clue.” Danny shrugged. He didn’t seem that fazed by what he’d just told Dash, but his words dug the pit in Dash’s stomach deeper.
“How do you deal with that? Do you ever wish they would ask? Or… you could tell them something?” Dash said.
An unreadable expression passed over Danny’s face. It only lasted a second before vanishing, and the silence that extended made it clear Dash would not be getting an answer to his question.
He needed to break the silence, or the one person he felt he could talk to was going to leave.
“So, uh, I guess you’re not inviting me back over for a tr— practice session tomorrow, are you?”
Danny tilted his head. “Why wouldn’t I?”
“I really messed up today,” Dash said. Was Danny pulling his leg? At a time like this? Was he playing some mind game to get Dash to admit he messed up? “I got us both hurt, and my bullshit made it harder for you to do your job. You know what you’re doing and I don’t. I was in the way. I get it if you want to stop trying to help me and make me figure it out on my own.”
Danny just looked at him. It wasn’t an angry look. It was soft, but not pity, either. He was thinking about something, and Dash was relieved when he smiled.
“Do you want real fighting lessons? Like, how to fight ghosts?” He finally asked.
Dash was still for a bit. “…Are you serious?”
“I get the feeling you’re gonna end up helping out with the ghosts either way. Best way to avoid any mishaps is to make sure you can do it safely.”
Dash wasn't sure if it was the tight hoodie he still hadn't taken off or what, but he was starting to sweat. “You’d really let me help?”
Danny shrugged loosely. “I mean, eventually. You have to learn to actually fight first, and we’re gonna have to do more sessions. Is that okay?”
“Dude, I’ve got time." Dash laughed. "I’m not on the football team anymore!”
At least he'd be able to do something good with that time again.
Now there was a glimmer of pity in Danny’s expression, but he tried to match Dash’s energy. “Yeah, no more kicking around balls. It’s time to kick around ghosts!”

[stumbles in with my pre-passover gummy bears]
GUYS FABLE/ELDEN RING AU THOUGHT
what if Theresa is able to see in other worlds because an outer god chose her and now she’s using the Spire like Marika used the Erd Tree, just in a far more contained and secretive manner?
What if The Tarnished of No Renown is the sibling of Logan and the hero of brightwall? Like long ago one of the Tarnished in Godfrey’s army settled in Albion--against all common sense-- and had kids with a Hero and it spiraled from there. Perhaps the weirdness of the Lands Between contributing to how weird the fourth type of hero is in general.
Imagine if they’d died on the same expedition where Logan faced the Crawler and the damage was just too great to be countered by Hero Blood. All they remember is cold and pain and laughter... followed by darkness. Then, decades later, they awake to the cave they died in. A glitter of gold worming its way from their palm to their chest. With it, an intense need to go somewhere, but where? Enter Theresa. They recognize her, of course they do-- Sparrow spoke of her often. The tone and impression of these talks varied, but she was still a common topic. Mostly good, though. Mostly. She tells them that death, it seems, is no longer their destiny. So she tells them that they must go on a journey, one even grander than their parent went on--far, far afield, beyond the wall of fog even the best cartographers were puzzled by.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Theresa teleports them to the Chapel of Anticipation with no further guidance than “Seek the Elden Ring” and imparting upon them a guild seal so they may grow in experience.
They get knocked out falling from the cliff and are sick of caves. Just deeply sick of them when they wake up later.
They assume Varre is a bandit and is just happy to not be instantly attacked. They assume everyone in the Lands Between is either insanely skilled or insanely brave for being outside. Melina chooses them because they seem rather impossibly determined.. and totally not using runes. When she lays a hand upon them, she can see the memories of thousands of beings interwoven into their very being. See the runes sitting untouched as their very soul plucks information from these slain spirits clinging to them and then... consumes it. Becomes stronger from it. She doesn’t know what they are, but she knows them not to be a tarnished. She chooses them regardless because she has... no other real option.
They do honestly, with complete confusion, ask Margit what the fuck he is while they’re fighting though. “You’re too big for a Hobbe, too thick to be a balvarine-- did your mum fuck a troll?” This does nothing to stop Margit’s dislike of them.
The Roundtable just assumes they’re tarnished and.... old. Or just sort of dim. Which is not true, their knowledge base is just.. Albion and Aurora centric. Some Samarkand and northern land info, but not much.
I imagine they wouldn’t wear armor and that would make everyone either impressed or deeply nervous.
Ooh Theresa could appear about midway through their quest to try swaying them to give the physical manifestation of the Ring to her upon quest completion. To ‘safeguard’ as she has the Spire. But Hero here has been learning and growing attached to this place and is reasonably sure the lands between would have some major, major bad news come if the ring physically left. “world in its influence collapsing” bad news. “Scarlet rot running rampant because the greater will isn’t keeping it in check” bad. But it could turn out she was pulling a Fable 3, turning them against everyone else so it would be easier to manipulate them so her outer god could take over. She could probably convince them that they would be countering the god of rot, appearing at a grace in Caelid and talking there. Melina stays hidden during Theresa’s invasions.
Ooh that could spur them trying to gather allies over just killing things, because then there’d be a structure to the land they’d inherit-- a net of influence to air recovery. A reason to apologize for calling Margit’s mother a trollfucker. Especially given they’d find out its Marika at some point and go “oh, well. uh. oops”
Oh no i’m drafting this in my head and it owns bones.

My What-If Injustice 2 Disney Character Endings
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ok. Here I’ll be going over the endings certain Disney characters I’ve selected might have if they were in the Injustice 2 video game. Since Injustice 2 has different endings based on different characters and also has DLCs that allow the player to play as characters from other franchises like, for example, Raiden, I figured this would be appropriate. With that out of the way, let’s dive right in.
Tumblr media
Anne: After Brainiac got taken down, I knew that I had to leave restoring the cities to Batman and the others. I’m just a 13-year-old girl, after all. And this is a world of comic book characters. But that doesn’t mean I couldn’t help them in another way. I helped Batman’s team beat baddies that were still on the loose. I also helped with morale support. I was able to get some of them to realize that overworking themselves will only get them to burn out. Anyway, I eventually got back to my world. You wouldn’t believe how excited Marcy was when I told her I was in a world full of comic book characters. And Sasha said she wanted to try her therapy skills on Batman. Well, it was all definitely an adventure and a half.
Tumblr media
Marcy: After Brainiac’s defeat, you wouldn’t believe how great it was being with real life comic book characters. I was able to get some info from The Flash about the Speed Force. I learned more about The Atom’s shrinking technology. I was able to see Firestorm’s ability to transmute matter in person. Martin Stein, one half of Firestorm, even gave me some of his notes on atoms. It was really amazing. It even had notes on the nucleus constitution and electron arrangement of the atoms in kryptonite. And after the cities were restored, I was able to learn more about alien architecture. But all good things must come to an end. With help from Batman, I was able to make a portal back home. And Annabanana and Sasha were happy to see me again.
Tumblr media
Stanley: Me and Fordsy really helped take down that creep Brainiac. We did such a good job that that Batman guy was very happy to recruit us to help on his team.
Stanford: Technically, Stan, Batman didn’t look happy. In fact, he seemed very irritated by your attitude.
Stanley: Yeah, yeah. Sure. Whatever you say. Anyway, I was assigned to help teach those superhero kids about the criminal underworld. And Fordsy here has been assigned to-
Stanford: I think I can explain this part better, Stan.
Stanley: Ok. Let ‘em have it.
Stanford: (clears throat) I was assigned to help Ray Palmer and Professor Stein with their scientific endeavors. Namely the nature of the microverse and the Firestorm Matrix. And I’m also working with Batman on a portal that’ll take me and Stan home without also helping cause another weirdmageddon.
Stanley: But in the meantime, me and Fordsy are planning on enjoying our stay. With these superheroes, we can find adventures. Maybe even treasure.
Stanford: I doubt the heroes will let us have any of the treasure. But I admit I’m gonna enjoy the weirdness of this world.
Stanley: That’s the spirit, Fordsy.
Tumblr media
Vee: After Brainiac was defeated, the team of heroes got to work on a portal to take me back to my home and Camila. In the meantime, though, I was offered membership in a team called the Justice League Dark, a team of heroes that are supposed to help take down magic threats. I guess they figured that my ability to drain magic would be a big help on that front. I wasn’t sure about joining at first. But then I was approached by someone. His name was J’onn J’onzz. The people here apparently call him Martian Manhunter. I checked the old newspapers and told him that everyone thought he died in a confrontation with Superman and Diana. He told me that he survived but was rendered too weak to fight for the foreseeable future. He told me he knew what it was like being a stranger in a strange world. He also told me he knew that it may seem too daunting to fight against impossible odds, especially for a world of people you’ve just begun to know. He told me that it’s still important to fight, though, because it’s the right thing to do. I realized that he’s right. So, after J’onn trained me on how to use my shapeshifting for stealth and combat, I joined the Justice League Dark.
Tumblr media
Elena: After we beat Brainiac, I couldn’t look away from those cities full of innocent people that he trapped in his collection. It reminded me too much of how I was trapped in that amulet. I couldn’t just leave them there. But my cousin Esteban told me that releasing a bunch of different civilizations onto the same land will end in complete chaos and after thinking about it, I realized he had a point. So, I decided we’ll release the cities at a fair distance from each other while slowly helping them build alliances with each other. With Green Lantern’s universal translator to help tear down the language barrier, Naomi’s instincts, Esteban’s diplomacy, Supergirl’s shining hope, Flash’s super-speed to help with the multi-tasking, my abuelo’s advice and my abuela’s spirit, I know we’ll be able to pull it off. I won’t let these continue to suffer the same way I did no matter what it takes.
Tumblr media
Esteban: After Brainiac was defeated, I was approached by Batman and his team of other strangely dressed heroes. They offered me a spot on their team. Because I was worried about how I wouldn’t last in this world since it’s full of people with strange powers and realized that this team of heroes may be my best bet for safety, I said yes. I told them I wanted to only take part in evacuation operations. I reasoned to them that my teleportation power makes me more practical in that field than any other and they accepted that point. Later, though, Supergirl walked up to me. Apparently, she “heard my heart rate” and knew that I was keeping something from them. Knowing I couldn’t possibly keep the truth from her or escape from her considering her speed, I relented and told her everything. She was shocked to be sure. I’m guessing the only reason she wasn’t angry was because she heard my heart breaking. She then told me that I would have to come clean and tell the rest of them the truth. After taking into account what happened with Elena, I realized she was right. After doing so, they told me that it would take a long time to earn back their trust. So, I realized that’s what I will do. Once I earn back their trust, I’ll ask for their help in getting me back to Avalor. I’ll do everything I can to make things right with Elena. I’ll even sacrifice my own life for her if that’s what it will take.
Tumblr media
Sofia: Just after we defeated Brainiac, Batman and Superman went back to fighting again. While I did agree more with Batman’s side than Superman’s, I didn’t want to see 2 old friends fighting as bitter enemies. So, I tried my hardest to find a middle ground between them. It took me a long while but I was eventually able to do it. Now, Batman’s and Superman’s united teams are planning on punishing the worst of the worst who absolutely deserve it while also helping those who just need a fresh start.
Tumblr media
Cedric: After we bested Brainiac, I was offered membership in the Justice League Dark. It was a team that consisted of sorcerers not from my world. I couldn’t believe it. Not only could I help put an end to evil sorcerers. With the help of these sorcerers, I could also learn magic that’s from beyond my dimension. Plus, another thing’s for sure. With Cedric The Great on their side, the Justice League Dark will be able to beat any magic evil that comes our way.

Un-Convention-Al: Boss Battle
Time to confront Shadow Lock. (No images this week, wasn't feeling well when uploading this.)
Shadow Lock was looking at the scene. Despite giving who he perceived as heroes everything they needed, The Pony of Shadows and his allies were still able to escape. And despite the clear target, two of those heroes were corrupted by the Shadow Pony and are working alongside them. If he only gave life to Heroes this wouldn’t have happened but the spell was all or nothing. He thought the lesser characters wouldn’t matter.
Instead, they somehow band together and create obstacles for the Heroes who were still doing their jobs. The Pony of Shadows must be defeated. And if these fictional heroes weren’t up for the job, Shadow Lock figured he would end it himself. So as soon as he saw them exiting the building, he decided to confront them himself. Give them no time to rest and take advantage of their confusion.
Back with our group, they were just catching their breath when Celestia rushed in front of them. She used her magic to block an incoming attack. It was Shadow Lock. Stygian looked towards the unknown entity and asked “why are you doing this? What have I ever done to you?” Shadow Lock took off his hood and gave a look that would have killed. “You may have tricked these fools, but I know your true intentions Pony of Shadows!”
“When you turned your back on the Pillars, the rest of your family had to suffer people’s wrath. This grew worse when the Pillars disappeared. The other ponies believed you took them out and ostracized us! So to make up for your sins, our family devoted our lives to ensure that if you were to ever return, we will be the ones to ultimately stop you! For many generations, we waited patiently, developing our magic for such an outcome.”
“Then the Pillars returned. My father saw this as a sign and thought our task may be over. We could earn forgiveness from the Pillars themselves and break us of this bond. Then we found out that Stygian, our ancestor, has returned as well. And instead of the imprisonment he rightfully deserved, the Pony of Shadows for some reason became a Best Selling Author! Surely, there was a spell made to make them forget your past!:
“But we never did! My father went out to end you, yet never returned. That means it is up to me to end the Pony of Shadow’s life once and for all! And the Horrors our family had to suffer will be finally forgiven!” Shadow Streak charged another energy blast and fired towards the group. Everyone scattered to avoid it. Big Spike decided to charge towards the Cloaked Individual. Despite his focus on magic, Shadow Streak is surprisingly agile and avoided all of Spike’s attempts.
Celestia and Mina, still with the Power of Princess Luna, did a combined blast towards their opponent. Shadow Streak saw this coming and teleported away, letting their combined blast hit the bigger Spike. When he reappeared, he did an explosion-like spell to separate the two. Little Spike was coaching Gabby to use Masked Matter-Horn’s powers, but by the time she actually managed to fire a shot, Shadow Streak had a spell ready to reflect the blast.
As those capable of fighting continued, Stygian, Smolder, Juliet and Ocellus looked on. Stygian looked shocked knowing his actions hurt his family, so that led Smolder to speak up. “Come on Ocellus! You got Professor Dash’s abilities. You can run circles around this guy.” “You see how he’s handling the others. We need a plan before we can do anything.” Juliet got an idea.

What is Juliet’s Plan? Tune in tomorrow.

In The Middle Of It by Freedom_of_speech333 on AO3
Summary: Tomura confesses to Dabi in the middle of a fight. (Also, oblivous Dabi in early parts.)
Sweet hands, scarred muscular chest, warmed Tomura’s back as they lay in a cuddle puddle at the L.O.V. latest lair. Dabi always seems to stay so close, grabbing, touching, holding him as if he was a fluffy dog instead of a man whose touch killed.
Tomura leaned into him, craving another human’s heat in the drafty room, the safety of arms that reached to wrap around him. A shutter of giggles entered the room, before everyone squeezed closer. Toga shifted to stare at Tomura’s half open eyes.
‘So, are you gonna tell him the ‘L’ word?’
Tomura’s eyes opened into a full glare as he eyed down this stupid remark.
‘What do you mean? Loathe?’ Tomura said in too quick retaliation. Toga rolled her eyes and bopped his nose.
‘We all know you guys like each other, just admit it already!’ Toga said in exasperation, causing Dabi to groan in his sleep.
‘I already told you sweetie, they're hopeless. ‘ Magne consoled Toga, glimmering eyes making fun of Tomura’s heating face.
Well, it wasn’t his problem. He was content, happy even, with how things were. It was… comfortable. Tomura closed his eyes and fell back into a sweet sunny dream of warmth and dogs that died by him.
……….
CRASH!
The windows shattered as they heard stomping feet beat down the false images they made in the next door room. Tomura leapt to his feet with the others. Dabi groggily stood and raised up his fists.
Tomura motioned for everyone to be quiet and pointed to their emergency exit up the roof. They scrambled up on the quiet feet of grogginess. The roof had a better fighting odds for them as well as their planned coordinates to be warped out.
Dabi leaned against him as Tomura quickly sent a message to the doctor asking for removal. They had been spying on the Hero Commision’s training grounds, evidently too close.
‘I thought you villains would be tougher stock.’ Said a voice that caused Dabi to straighten up and glower, Endeavor. It would have been intimidating, if he was wearing more than his boxers and socks. Tomura noted a future clothing supply run for his group, all half dressed and mumbling.
‘Bwahahaha, They are half naked!’ Bunny flopped in laughter atop Pro Hero Mirko’s head. Considering she was working with them, she must have made all that ruckus to wake them up. They would get out of this alive and free, but she still had to put on show for the big gun.
This is going to hurt.
Toga and Magne kept sending imploring gazes during Tomura and pointing at Dabi. Didn’t they realize the middle of a fight was the wrong time to confess!?
He swung back to look at Dabi, his muscular body smoking from quirk overuse. He was poised to throw a deadly ball of fire at Mirko-SHIT! Tomura forgot to tell him about the new connections! He had to make him stop….
“I love you!’ Tomura shouted, causing Dabi to stare straight at him. What was that look? Was it happy, indifferent, or disgusted?! Tomura didn’t have time to find out as a fluffy rock solid boot slammed straight into Dabi’s head.
Well, maybe brain trauma will erase Tomura’s confession. Hopefully.
…………
Dabi wakes up on a cold, rough surface. Blinding light sends pins into his brain and causes him to wince. His eye’s refocus on the LOV around him, everyone except….
‘Where’s Tomura?’ Dabi asks. Magne and Toga start giggling over who knows what and Tomura comes to sit right next to him, head hidden in the folds of his comfort hoodie.
Tomura takes Dabi’s hand and fiddles with his fingers before speaking.
“So, what do you remember about the fight?’
Dabi smiles and twists his hand to bring Tomura’s glove-covered hand to his lips.
‘That you love me.’

Catching up on the MCU!
:readmore:
Black Widow:
I think I'd be more into this movie if Natasha wasn't super fucking dead.
Yelena is great.
The family thing stretches suspension of disbelief, but since none of them had anything even close to stability after that, I'll buy it.
Quit torturing the pigs!
After Red Guardian being a joke I expected the fight with Taskmaster to be either a joke or a damn, he can fight moment, and it was turned out to be a more realistic, even fight. That's cool.
There's an potential army of maybe superpowered, definitely top trained BWs out there. Sure, they probably want different lives, but judging by the end of the movie they won't be against a team up. That's very cool.
Natasha could have leveraged all this into a pardon (and maybe did, since she apparently met up with Ross?) and still she immediately goes "prison break time, baby".
Rewatch: Maybe for Yelena.
Shang-Chi:
The rings go back and forth between looking cool and looking really dumb.
Me: "The monsters sounds Cthulu-ish."
Also me: *no reaction to the name Dweller-in-Darkness.*
Katy's cool, and having her be useful by practicing the bow and arrow, and then hitting a giant target that's standing still is a good way of making her useful, without making it too much.
I think Trevor survives because people let him talk and then realize he's basically living in a different reality and can't be blamed for his actions.
Morris is adorable.
Wish there'd been more of the forest, that was a great bit of horror.
Really like how Shang is just rolling with the plot. Man is delightfully chill about it, all things considered.
Also like how it, despite the world-ending threat, feels more like a very dramatic, fighty family drama. Dad was a great tragic, villain. Not to mention must have been very good with horses.
So sis is not shutting down anything, huh.
Wong is always cool.
Rewatch: Definitely.
Eternals:
Too long. Can we put a two-hour limit on these.
Constantly mind-wiping people, making them fight to protect people and then expecting them to step aside and let everyone die. Yeah, that was going to end badly at some point.
That said, "Humanity is special" got taken a bit too far, I think. After millions of years, this is where you get cold feet? Not entirely buying it.
How many people were the deviants eating anyway, if they were slowing down the emergence?
Normal boyfriend (Dane?) was surprisingly likeable.
Bollywood guy is kinda funny. I don't like him, but I'd keep him around.
Nooo, Gilgamesh! Too likeable to live. Thena is somehow supercool and forgettable at the same time.
Ikarus or whatever had obviously evil written aaall over him, and the indoor eyebeam scene was still a good way to show how little he cares about people. Shame he's also boring. Why is it always the powerful one that decides to go full asshole? To have a big fight, I know, I know. And then the fucker just flies into the sun.
Tinkerbell girl is the worst, though the rock to the head was hilarious. Quit whining and learn to style yourself as an adult. Half your problems solved, right there.
Absolutely love the deviant design. A bit rubbery-looking, but the vaguely skinned look with tentacles is working for me.
Sersi is not... a very good leader. Maybe next movie. Her costume just makes me think of a Green Lantern.
Druig is on the ball throughout the entire movie, and he doesn't even know how much. More of that guy.
Makkai is likable, but seems to be mostly around for moving people out of the way. Wouldn't mind seeing more of her though.
Phastos rules. Sure, dickhead broke free, but that trap was way more effective than I thought it would be.
So the dead baby Celestial is just hanging out in the ocean now. Neat. Will in no way be a problem in the future.
Wonder how many people is digging into old family legends these days.
Rewatch: Nah. Stopped caring as soon as the movie was over.
Multiverse of Madness:
I had hoped the "you break rules, you're a hero, I break rules, I'm a villain" would be more than standard villain bullshit, but I'm not sure it would have been as fun as watching Wanda go full villain all over the place. Because it is extremely fun.
I appreciate the speed of plot here. Straight to the point, no holding back the reveal.
Love the visuals.
Lol at Strange casually burying himself.
Love the implication that Strange is kicking Mordo's ass on the regular.
So the Illuminati are clearly supposed to be great heroes, but aside from Xavier they all seem like... well, kinda dickish. Also, lol at Black Bolt's death. That just looked dumb. Reed, this is why we don't tell the bad guy what powers people have, even if you're trying for a peaceful talk-down.
That's a hard no the the 616 stuff.
Fuck yeah, self-possessed zombie Stephen and multiplying rotten hands!
Wong seems to have hit a "this might as well happen" point. No wonder, really. Shame about his... assistant?, she seemed cool, and she did manage to wreck the Darkhold.
Feel like they could have done more with America, but at least she's introduced now, and her crystal star portals look great.
Ever word Wanda says just hammers home how badly she's lost it, especially the "every mom makes her kids by magic" line, but the "I wouldn't hurt anyone" line takes it to a whole new level. Lady, you're half a minute away from throwing the kids through a wall, and you're definitely fucking them up emotionally. True A+ MCU parenting.
Just ending it like that, huh. From dramatic screaming to everything is fine, next adventure.
Rewatch: Don't know. Plot's fine, but a lot of the fun was tied into the spectacle and not knowing what happened next.
Love & Thunder:
I wanted actual adventures with Thor and the GotG, so that was a disappointing start. Well, the actual beginning of the movie was good.
I'm amazed there are asgardians left at this point.
I fucking hate Korg. How dare the movie hopespot me with his death and then not follow through on it.
This Thor is the worst Thor.
The new armor was nice tough. The black one, the other one looked like plastic.
The humour in this movie does not work for me. How is it possible to be even worse than the rest of the MCU when it comes to letting emotional moments stand?
Except for the "half our warriors are always dead" joke, that was hilarious.
Mjolnir in pieces was awesome.
I wish Valkyrie had feelings.
The Shadow realm was really creepy. Gorr appearing during story time was very dad-ish, like a monster version of a dad telling dumb jokes.
The kids fighting was half cool, half ridiculous, but I dig the Princess cutting a monster in two and the one with the rabbit.
Boo, don't be a quitter, Gorr. But lol at Gorr's kid actually being named Love. Go for a namechange, kid, it's a bit much. At least she's with the Asgardians, they've got "everyone I love died" down to an art by now.
Sif dying of actual battlewounds won't get her to Valhalla, but Jane dying of cancer, a disease, does get there. Not very consistent, these rules. Did Thor accidentally wish her there or something.
Unless it's less dying in battle, and more heroic sacrifice they're going for. Not very heroic to lie there and die when you can get up and get help.
Ending was cute. Tiny girl with giant weapon is always cute.
Rewatch: No.

Hawkmoth was a bitch, and Marinette meant that with every fiber of her soul. Fu was also a bitch, and Marinette actually had good memories of the guy. Not many, but she had some. The fact that the guy got two ten-year-olds to become super heroes and fight a supervillain for him kinda soured those memories, though. But with Chat Noir not allowed to leave his house? Yeah, even as young as they were it only took about a year to find out who HawkMoth was and another year to take him down.
Except, that left Marinette alone. The final battle took her mom away, and Chat had to move out of Paris after his dad was arrested. Luckily Jagged allowed her and her papa to move into his house in Gotham, and everything was…
Well, it was okay. For about a month.
Then her dad was gone too, and she had no way to talk to Jagged, and the police were scaring her—
Yeah, that was the basic order of events that led to where she was now. Pushing fourteen years old, ex-superhero, protector of a magical box of gods, stealing the tires off of a very nice motorcycle.
Marinette was tempted to just take the whole thing, she loved bikes and knew she could drive it. But the thing had more security than she knew what to do with, and the fact that it belonged to Red Hood… she didn’t want to deal with trackers today, thanks. So the tires it was.
Should she maybe care more about the fact that she was stealing from a vigilante with a violent streak? Maybe. Did she? Hell no. For all she knew, maybe Red Hood was a bitch too. (Yes, she was still learning English slang. She was fluent by educational standards, but learning how to curse in a foreign language was fun and she still had a little bit to go. Her few street friends were very happy to help).
A shadow dropped down in front of her, and Marinette’s hero instincts kicked in. The tire iron she was using cut through the air, slamming right into the side of Red Hood’s knee.
—*—*—*—*—*
“Hood,” Batman’s voice grumbled over the comms, instantly grabbing the attention of everyone else who was on the comms. It wasn’t as gruff as he usually sounded, in fact it almost sounded like… he was trying not to laugh?
“Did you get gassed by Joker?” Dick asked before Jason got a chance to respond. “Need backup?”
“No,” Batman responded, sounding a little more composed. “Not a rogue. But Hood, I need you to join me at my location as soon as possible.”
Finally getting the chance to talk, Jason responded a little warily; “Sure, B. Wait,” he blinked at the location that was sent to him. “Isn’t that where my bike is parked?”
Batman didn’t respond at first, only the sound of labored breathing— again, as if he was trying not to laugh. “Just get here, Hood.”
Sighing, but not too mad since the night had been fairly quiet so far, Jason decided to humor the old man and head over. When he could see the cape-clad back of Batman, he easily leapt over the last roof and sauntered over.
“Okay, B,” he had his thumbs tucked in his pockets as he drawled. “What’s the issue?”
Batman was grinning. As in, actually showing amusement. And he just pointed down, straight at Hood’s bike.
Jason rolled his eyes under his helmet, turning to look. At first he didn’t see anything amiss, until he saw movement and looked harder. Oh. Oh, holy shit.
“Is that a kid?”
“Yep,” Batman’s grin grew.
“Is she… stealing my tires?” Hood was so, so glad he wore a helmet that hid his expression. Because… wow.
“Yep,” Batman finally lost his composure, chuckling. “This seems like Karma, don’t you think?”
“And you just watched her so you could rub it in,” Jason groaned, throwing his head back in exasperation. Of course he would. Nobody knew it (except the other heroes who knew him) but Batman was a petty little jerk when he wanted to be. He bought the whole Daily Planet just to spite Clark, for crying out loud.
“Don’t adopt her,” Batman said as he stood up, patting Red Hood’s shoulder. “It looks like she’s almost done.”
“Shit,” Jason hissed, looking down to see that she was, actually, very close to being done. She had already had one tire completely free by the time he had arrived, and now she was only seconds away from getting the other one completely free.
He took a quick assessment— she was tiny, and really thin. Definitely a street kid, he thought, though he didn’t recognize her. He knew most of the street kids that stole to get by, nowadays, which meant she must have been fairly new. But even though she seemed to know what she was doing, her small frame made her take longer unscrewing the tires than it normally would have taken. Sure that she wasn’t a threat by any stretch of the imagination, he jumped down. His plan had been to startle her a little by showing up out of nowhere, but he didn’t want to scare her too badly. Just make her jump a little.
But he had underestimated her, it seemed. Without wasting a second, she jumped up and swung her tire iron at his knee. He cursed, she was a lot faster than her had been expecting. He was able to move so that the weapon only clipped the side of his knee, his knee pad thankfully taking the worst of it. She still hit hard enough to make him stumble and hiss in pain though, which was an accomplishment.
That’s when she abandoned her weapon and her tires, darting to try and escape only for Batman to drop down and block her escape. Though really, it was the grin Batman had that scared the girl most of all, apparently, making her slowly back away from him.
“Please stop smiling,” she begged with a faint French accent to her words. “It is not natural.”
That made Red Hood laugh, already recovered and right behind her. He plopped a gloved hand on her head.
“I know, it’s creepy right?” He joked. “What’cha doin’ stealing my tires, kid? I kinda need them to drive anywhere,” he was careful to keep his voice light and devoid of any anger. He wasn’t really upset, all told. It would be hypocritical of him if he was.
She looked between the two vigilantes for a moment, clear intelligence behind those bright blue eyes as she seemed to consider something. Suddenly she pulled away from Red Hood and stepped away from his reach, straightening up and trying to look tall.
“My name is Marinette Dupain-Cheng,” she said as firmly as she could. “My father was Tom Dupain, he was killed in a mugging three months ago. We were living in a house that our family friend leant to us after my mother’s death six months ago, and we moved here from Paris. I haven’t been able to contact him, and the police… I don’t trust them,” she admitted, clearly seeing this as the chance she had been waiting for. “I have been living on the streets since my father died. I am sorry for trying to steal your tires, Monsieur Red Hood. But it was a risk I had to take.”
“Did you expect us to catch you?” He asked, crossing his arms as he re-evaluated the girl. She was a lot stronger than he had assumed earlier, both physically and mentally. She seesawed her hand to indicate ‘kinda’.
“Even if you didn’t, I could make good money off your tires,” she justified with a shrug. “To me, I would win either way.”
“Who is your family friend? Can he help you now, take you in?” Batman asked, moving forward and kneeling down to be closer to Marinette’s height. Neither he nor Jason had missed the part where she was an orphan, but they had expected that considering what they had caught her doing. And they both knew that she wasn’t likely to take any apologies they tried to offer very well. It was best not to show pity, or she might get angry.
Marinette frowned. “... Our family friend is Jagged Stone. He lets me call him Uncle Jagged,” she told them, clearly expecting the disbelieving grunts they gave. “I mean it! You can call him, he might even be looking for me! I—“
“We know,” Hood assured her, now kneeling down as well. Man, she was short. “Calm down, we know you’re telling the truth. Jagged has made several public announcements about his missing honorary niece, we just didn’t recognize your name right away. And Jagged doesn’t have access to very many pictures of you, those he does have the Mayor isn’t allowing him to show because that spineless jackass—“
“Language, Hood.”
“—Cares more about keeping bad press off the air than finding a kid, even if it’s a world famous rockstar who’s asking. That’s probably why you haven’t heard anything, the mayor’s keeping it off the radio and not many reporters are brave enough to take the story and get on his bad side.”
“Oh…” Marinette took a deep breath, fighting the tears that were threatening to rise up. “He has been looking…” she sniffled, curling in on herself a little. “Can you take me to him?”
“I think we can do that,” Batman agreed, standing up. “I’ll contact him. Red Hood, can you handle everything here until I give you a place to meet up with Jagged Stone?”
Jason nodded. “No problem, B. Come on, little rabid pixie. Step one of gettin’ you back to your uncle is to help me fix my bike back up.”
Marinette sighed, shoulders dropping. “All my hard work, undone…” she playfully complained. But in the end she didn’t argue or fight against it, she just sat down and helped him reattach his tires.
All the while, Jason’s family kept teasing him over the comms. Clearly they were also thoroughly amused by the cosmic display of karma.
“...Monsieur Hood,” Marinette asked once they were done repairing the motorcycle and he had given her his too-big extra helmet. He tilted his head a bit to show he was listening. She squirmed. “Can… can we stop by my hideout? I have something really important I have to get.”
Jason smiles gently under his mask. She might not have been a street kid for very long, but she really did bring back some memories for him. He got on his bike and held a hand out to her.
“Sure thing kid. Wanna grab something to eat after? Can’t have a reunion on an empty stomach.”
She gave him a lopsided smile— not quite overjoyed, but definitely hopeful and thankful. Maybe this was the end of her streak of bad luck, she could only hope.
“Only if you don’t mind, Monsieur Hood,” she agreed before taking his hand and letting him help her onto the bike.
“No skin off my back, pixie,” he assured her. Then they were off. He followed her directions until they got to an abandoned building about three miles away, not in a good part of town at all but at least not in crime alley. Marinette easily led him through the building, skirting around other piles of ratty blankets and up broken stairs until they got to the badly-maintained top floor. She led him over to an almost invisible door in the concrete wall that pulled out to reveal what was probably a broom closet once upon a time. It was crowded with what looked like junk and empty boxes, along with a few blankets and two or three changes of clothes that were clearly her’s. A few belongings scattered around— a book, a small pink purse, and… Marinette came out of the pile of mess holding what had clearly been a very carefully hidden box. She also grabbed the purse and slung it over her shoulder, but didn’t seem worried about anything else.
Jason frowned at the box. It wasn’t that big, but it was clearly made of old wood. There were intricate carvings that were painted pink, in a symbol that was itching at the back of his mind. He recognized that symbol, but from where?
“Ready to go, kid?” He asked as he thought about it, getting a nod from Marinette. Twenty minutes later they were at a Batburger, sitting in a shaded booth that couldn’t be seen from the street.
She never let the box out of her sight. She kept it on the seat next to her, and Jason noticed that she tried to keep one hand on it at all times. But when she spoke, now her French accent stood out to him even more than before. But why—?
And then it clicked. Paris. Hawkmoth. Ladybug, Chat Noir, magic artifacts called Miraculous. Wonder Woman had raised a fuss when the heroes disappeared, declaring that something was wrong but she couldn’t put her finger on what. Then the magic users they trusted were called in, and returned from Paris with the grim news that the former Guardian of those artifacts had activated a failsafe and passed the guardianship on to someone else while erasing his own memories at the same time. But nobody knew who he could have passed it on to, so Batman had been given the green light to do all the research he and his team could into the Miraculous box to try and help track it down.
And here it was. The carvings were in pink now, which might have been the “cosmetic change” that Constantine had mentioned might happen when the box changed guardians. He had found the box full of super powerful magical artifacts… in the hands of a newly orphaned street kid who couldn’t have been older than fourteen at best.
What the hell?
“...” Red hood reached into his pocket and pulled out an old receipt and a sharpie. He scrawled on the back of the receipt and handed to Marinette. The girl was halfway into a bite of her burger when he did, and blinked at him owlishly before swallowing and cautiously reaching out to grab it. She frowned at the numbers scrawled there.
“What’s this?” She asked.
“My contact info,” he explained. “I won’t ask questions about why you have that box,” he watched her instantly stiffen but continued as casually as he could; “but it doesn’t matter. You can call me if you ever need help with anything, kid. Help with that box, help if you get in trouble in Gotham again, or even if you’re having a bad day. You can call me for whatever, got it? I don’t care if you think it’s stupid, if you can’t talk to anyone else in your life you can always call or text me and I’ll do whatever I can. Got it?
“...” Marinette sniffled for a second and looked down at the table in silence for a second. “... what if I want your motorcycle?” she joked, but the watery tone of her voice gave her away.
Jason laughed, patting her head. “I need my bike, but we can talk about getting you your own once you are old enough to get a license. You almost done? Bats says that Jagged is ready to meet you, I can take you to him right now.”
“Yeah, lets go!” she was newly energized and shoved the last bite of burger into her mouth greedily. “And Red Hood?” She asked as they headed out to where he had parked.
“Yeah, kid?”
“Thanks.”

Natasha met you post-Black Widow. She was helping out Yelena with freeing the Widows’ when she came across you.
You were a teen at the time - but still brainwashed. Thankfully because of your age you hadn’t been brainwashed into doing anything too bad yet, but you were almost finished with your training.
Something struck Natasha when she saw you. Looking back on it, she assumes it was the fact that like her and Yelena, you had been put into the Red Room at a young age, and you were the first teen they saw while on these various missions.
While she was okay with fighting the other Widows’, it was hard for Natasha to fight you. At the time, she brushed it off as not wanting to hurt a kid, but she knew that she was taking a liking to you.
Which was why, when Yelena managed to free you, and you told them that you had nowhere to go, Natasha felt the need to do something about it. Unlike the other Widows’ who were adults, you couldn’t go out into the world alone and, after talking with Yelena, Natasha decided to take you along with her.
It wasn’t adoption per say, at least at first, but it was close enough.
You jumped at the opportunity to tag along with Natasha and while Yelena continued the Widows’ mission, Natasha took you back to Melina’s house., where you met Melina and Alexei.
You were wary around them at first, clinging to Natasha, but you warmed up.
However, it wasn’t long before Natasha had to go on the run again. She offered you the chance to stay there with Melina and Alexei but you had grown very close to Natasha and wanted to come with her.
So, you did.
It was difficult, escaping authority and having to constantly be moving, but it in a way it strengthened yours and Natasha’s bond. You guys got closer and learned to work together — as fighting partners as well as mother/daughter.
Which was why, not having known your biological parents or where they were, the word ‘mom’ easily fell off her lips.
It happened when you guys were eating take-out in your latest house. Natasha had passed you the water pitcher and “thanks, mom” just came so naturally.
For a second, you didn’t realize what you had said, until you looked up to see Natasha staring at you with wide eyes.
Then, it hit you. Holy shit my god. Had you just said that?? What just happened?
You got scared that Natasha would react badly, but it was the opposite. A huge grin broke out on her face and even happy tears of pure joy.
When you asked her what was going on, she said: “I’ve never been a mother.”
That’s when you smiled and hugged her and you officially agreed on becoming mother and daughter.
Natasha was worried on being a mother at first, scared that she messed it up, but after reassurance from Melina via a phone call, she fell into the role naturally.
She became much more protective.
Not that you minded.
This went on until the Avengers called upon Natasha to fight Thanos.
She brought you along with her and the team was thoroughly stunned.
“wHO ArE yOU???”
“NATASHAAAA”
Yeah, it was chaotic.
You weren’t fazed though and quickly befriended Wanda and attempted to befriend Vision.
Steve and Sam also became like uncles.
Tony was a bit more difficult because you initially blamed him for you and Natasha on the run, so you were distant at first.
You were also kinda disappointed that Clint wasn’t there. You had wanted to meet him (and Natasha wanted you to meet him) after the stories you heard.
Nonetheless, you went to Wakanda and that’s where you met Bucky. It wasn’t long before he became another uncle.
You absolutely loved fighting alongside Okoye and meeting Shuri. You were fascinated by her technology.
You also kicked ass on the battlefield.
But then . . . You lost.
You watched Bucky disappear and even though you hadn’t known him for nearly as long as Natasha and Steve did, you still felt great pain.
Then you learned to that Sam and Wanda had gotten snapped and it got worse.
The days leading after were some of the most difficult days ever.
It was the first time you had to be strong for your mom, seeing as she had lost her friends too, and you panicked at first.
But you had been her daughter for awhile now and you knew what to do. You hugged Natasha and was there for her.
In the months coming, you helped the reminding heroes rebuild the world and you eventually joined the Avengers under your mother’s lead.
You also met Clint but it wasn’t a happy meeting, really, since he had lost his family.
You continued on as an Avenger with Natasha by your side. You met Carol and she was like an aunt and was amazing.
Things started to turn on the bright side when one day Natasha walked in with a genuine smile and held papers.
You could only guess what they were for at first, but quickly was shown and freaked out (a happy freak out) after.
Adoption papers.
You jumped and yelled and screamed and cheered, unbelievably happy that this was becoming official official.
You were Natasha’s daughter.
While the past few years had been difficult, this made it all worth it. You didn’t know where you’d be without Natasha and she was always with you.
Eventually, the team had a plan to defeat Thanos.
Which felt liked a miracle.
Natasha lives because I say so.
You and her got to tag-team Thanos’ enemies.
Literally the best team since Clint and Nat.
(Clint was jealous)
Then, you got everyone back!
You were SO happy to see Bucky, Sam, and Wanda again, and so was Natasha.
After you all reunited and the world went back to semi-normal, you and Natasha visited Yelena, Alexei, and Melina who were beyond happy to see you both.
Things started to turn up again and you were so grateful to have Nat at your side.
She was the best mom EVER.
Always looking out for you and protecting you
If any of the other Avengers made the slightest of snide comments, she was on them like a bloodhound
She always reminded you to hydrate and was always asking you how you were doing
It was hard to believe that she hadn’t had any experience with children before
Well, she had, with Clint’s kids, but still
Speaking of Clint’s kids, they all looked to you like an older cousin
But getting back to Natasha
She insisted that only she would train with you, not trusting the team to not injure you (besides, she knew you best)
You loved training with Natasha too
She always made it fun, putting on music and stuff
It helped you had similar music tastes
She also would always gush to anyone but really Clint, Sam, or Bucky on how cute and adorable you were
And they definitely agreed
One time during movie night you fell asleep with your head on Nat’s shoulder
She was so happy
Made Bucky take a picture
But she did feel a little bad because you must be tired
So she carried you to your room and put you to bed, kissing you goodnight
You had missed out on a childhood so it was nice for your mom to bring you to bed
All in all Natasha was the best thing to happen to you
Despite it being tough, you were thankful for every second of it
