i'm quite sad that people stopped talking about nex benedict. just because his case wasn't technically murder it still speaks volumes about the effects of bullying and how schools need to work harder to protect marginalized youth.

In Heidi Ann Heiner's Cinderella Tales From Around The World, I've now read the variants from Germany, Belgium, and France.
*Of course the most famous German Cinderella story is Aschenputtel by the Brothers Grimm. If you don't know it from reading it, you probably know it from Into the Woods, and if you don't know it from there, you've probably heard of it in pop culture. Too many people mistakenly think it's the "original" version of Cinderella. But there are other German Cinderella stories too – all similar to the Grimms' version, but with differences here and there.
*In nearly every German version, and in both of the two Belgian versions the book features, the heroine gets her elegant gowns and shoes from a tree. It throws them down to her, or opens up to reveal them, after she either recites a rhyme underneath it or knocks on it.
**Some variants, like the Grimms', have the archetypal "father goes on a journey and asks for gift requests" plot line, and the heroine gets a hazel twig, which she plants on her mother's grave and which grows into a tree. But in other versions, the tree is seemingly a random one, which either a dove, a dwarf, or a mysterious old man or woman advises her to ask for finery.
**That said, there's one exception: a German version called Aschengrittel, where the heroine meets a dwarf who, like the fairies in some Italian versions, gives her a magic wand to grant her wishes.
*As in the Egyptian, Greek, and Italian versions, it varies whether the German versions have the heroine abused by a stepmother and stepsister(s) or by her own mother and sister(s), whether her father is alive or not, and whether the special event she attends is a royal ball/festival or a church service. In both of the two Belgian versions, the heroine's abusers are her own mother and sister(s).
*While in the Mediterranean versions, the heroine's future husband is always either a prince or (more rarely) a king, in the German versions he's occasionally a knight or a rich merchant instead.
*Other typical German and Belgian details are (a) the (step)mother forcing the heroine to sort lentils, seeds, or grain, usually by picking them out of the ashes, which is usually resolved by birds doing the job for her, (b) the prince (or king, or merchant) having the palace or church steps smeared with pitch so that the heroine loses her shoe, and (c) the notorious detail of the (step)sisters cutting off parts of their feet to make the shoe fit, which is revealed when either birds or a dog call out that there's blood in the shoe.
**One Greek version has the prince catch the heroine's shoe by having the church steps smeared with honey, but the Mediterranean Cinderellas usually lose their shoes either by accident or by choice, while in Germany and Belgium it's usually the prince's doing.
**The foot-cutting episode is clearly typical of German and Belgian versions, but the Grimms' other notorious detail, where the stepsisters' eyes are pecked out by doves at the end, isn't typical. The Grimms themselves added that grisly detail to give the story a more "moral" ending with the stepsisters appropriately punished.
*The Grimms' footnotes for their version are included in this book. They mention several other German variants, including two that continue after the heroine's marriage and have the stepmother and stepsister try to murder her, and one where the stepmother starts out as the heroine's childhood nurse and murders the girl's mother by pushing her out a window, then claims she committed suicide.
*The German, Belgian, and French Cinderellas aren't quite so cunning and unfazed as the Greek and Italian Cinderellas. Now we see more heroines who cry over their hardships, and/or who beg to be allowed to go to the ball/festival or church, and whose magical help is more given to them and less in their own control. One notable French exception to this pattern, though, is Madame d'Aulnoy's cunning and self-reliant Finette Cendron.
*France doesn't seem to have the same pattern of culturally-distinct oral versions of this tale that other countries do. Instead, the French examples in this book are nearly all literary versions, and each one is almost completely different from the others.
**Of course the most wildly famous and important French Cinderella is Charles Perrault's Cendrillon. This is the Cinderella we all know best, with the fairy godmother, the pumpkin coach, the magic only lasting until midnight, and the glass slipper.
**Published in the same year as Perrault's version was Madame d'Aulnoy's Finette Cendron. This is an interesting, much longer variation that starts out as a Hop o'My Thumb/Hansel and Gretel story, where three sisters are abandoned in the woods and nearly eaten by an ogre, only for the clever youngest, Finette, to outwit him, but then turns into a Cinderella story when the older sisters abuse Finette after they make the dead ogre's castle their home, but Finette follows them to a ball in finery she finds in a chest.
**Another French literary variant is The Black Cat, which starts out as a Cinderella tale, but then has the heroine be stranded on an island and give birth to a black cat son (long story), then turns into a Puss in Boots tale as the cat helps his mother. Yet another is The Blue Bull, where the heroine runs away from her stepmother with her only friend, a magical bull, only for the bull to be killed protecting her from lions, and which then becomes a Donkeyskin/All Kinds of Fur-type of story, where she becomes a servant at the prince's palace and gets her ballroom finery from the bull's grave.
*Perrault and d'Aulnoy's versions are the only two Cinderellas so far where the heroine has a fairy godmother. Yes, in some others there are fairies or mysterious old women who help her, but the concept of a fairy godmother seems to have French literary origins.
*These same two versions, Perrault's and d'Aulnoys are also where we first see strong emphasis on the heroine's virtue and kindness, even to her cruel (step)family. While some oral versions do have her forgive them in the end, these literary versions not only have her do that, but have her constantly be gracious and kind to them (Perrault) or save their lives even at great personal sacrifice (d'Aulnoy).
*Now that I've read Finette Cendron, I can see its slight influence on Massanet's opera Cendrillon. In Finette Cendron, instead of Perrault's choice to have the slipper taken from house to house, all the ladies are invited to the palace to try it on, and Finette's fairy godmother sends her a horse to ride there – just like Cinderella's fairy godmother transports her to the slipper-fitting at the palace in the opera. Finette Cendron's Prince Cherí also falls deathly ill with love for the mystery girl, but is cured when he finds her. (A recurring theme in many different variants, which I forgot to mention when I covered the Mediterranean versions.) In the opera, this has its parallel when Prince Charming faints in despair over the seeming failure of the slipper-fitting, and before that when Cinderella herself becomes gravely ill because she thinks she'll never see her prince again.

Okay.
As some of you may know, my sister and I are huge Murder, She Wrote fans. We've seen almost every episode—some twice—and I was doing a rewatch of one episode in particular last night from season 2 that caught my attention called "Jessica Behind Bars" (aired December 1st, 1985, which means it was probably filmed some time in 1984).
The first thing that's notable about this episode is that it has an all-female cast.
There is, I believe, a male taxi driver at the beginning that drops Jessica off, but it's honestly too blurry to see. There are also some male police officers and national guardsmen in an outdoor scene from afar. Crucially, though, the only speaking roles (and this includes the lieutenant governor, which is a voice only role) are female.
The second thing, though, was spotted by @quothalinguist a half a room away in a split second, and it was so intriguing, we had to run it back to be sure.
SPOILER ALERT FOR A 1985 EPISODE OF MURDER, SHE WROTE
All right, so in this episode, the doctor actually commits suicide, but it appears to be a murder. It's not revealed until the end that it's a suicide. Jessica figures it out and tells everyone what happened, and we see a flashback to what happened.
It was crucial that the suicide look like a murder so that a prisoner who was a snitch could escape with her collaborator, the deputy warden, so the collaborator steals the suicide note from the typewriter.
You see the suicide note from afar later in the episode, so you can't read it, but you do see the suicide note up close, full screen, for a few seconds.
The note has four lines. The shot it holds on shows the top two lines, a bar covers the third line, and the fourth line is covered by the shadow of the typewriter bar so that you can BAAAAAAAARELY see it. You'd have to get up close to the screen and squint to read it.
@quothalinguist, though, from a mile away, said, "Wait a minute.. Did that say 'lesbian'?"
And me and my sister are like, "What?!"
So we ran it back.
Someone off screen takes the note from the typewriter, so there is a split second where you can read all four lines.
I took a photo of the screen (messed with the color a bit so the words could show up more easily):
Tumblr media
That reads:
I HAVE BEEN THINKING ABOUT KILLING
MYSELF FOR THE TIME. I WILL ALL
MY WORLDLY POSSESSIONS TO ALL THE
LESBIAN INMATES IN THIS PRISON.
This aired December 1st, 1985!!!
And this was on screen!!!
It was a split second, and the shadow of the typewriter bar covers the line, and I bet that's why this flew right by the censors when it first aired.
Now, back then, not everyone had VCRs or even fancy TVs, so I wonder how many people caught this! Even my sister and I missed it the first time we saw it!

r/systemscringe cringe!
Tumblr media
Putting aside the fact that there's not really any solid evidence on alter death one way or the other (I do tend to fall on the side that it's not actual death but is more long-term dormancy but there's no way to say for certain,) the image doesn't specify "in headspace."
This could very well be someone talking about physical suicide attempts made by other alters... and if so, it seems really bad taste to put that on a cringe subreddit.
Tumblr media
DID literature reports many systems with complex inner worlds with alters living out deep inner lives. Whether this happens in real-time or if inner world memories are confabulated later is a matter for debate. But the existence of these experiences themselves is not.
And even at the basic level with inner worlds as just a visualization tool, you can assault headmates by visualizing hurting them. Especially with strong enough inner tactile senses.
Tumblr media
"What's stopping you from just murdering a bunch of innocent people you live with to make your life better if you don't face any repercussions?"
It says a lot about this user that they went there, and a lot about the community that this has 57 upvotes.

The harry potter discourse annoys me
Like “the game is offensive” okay and how does harassing and suicide baiting, or assuming the worst out of people who like it, especially trans and jewish folk who like it, help?
And don’t even get me started on the people getting hate for using it to cope with their mental health problems
I’ll start with the disclaimer that harassment and suicide baiting is never okay from any side. If you see someone playing the game then simply block them because at this point if they’re playing the game and promoting it in social media then they already know about the issues and are willing to let them slide so it’s not worth engaging.
However you seem to misunderstand something here. The biggest issue isn’t that “the game is offensive” (although it certainly is). The issue is that the money is going directly toward the oppression of trans people in the UK.
The Harry Potter game isn’t the only offensive game to exist and JKR isn’t the only bigot out there. However people either don’t understand or don’t care about just how influential she is. It’s not just her spouting transphobia on twitter and writing bigotry into her stories. The money she gets from her Harry Potter properties she uses to directly fund anti-trans legislation in her country.
Were you aware that at the start of the year Scotland was set to pass a bill to help transgender people in their country? It would have incredibly eased the struggle trans people go through to transition legally and be recognized as their gender by the law. It was passed through by the Scottish Parliament! But then the UK for the first time in history used their veto power to block this law from going into practice. This is the sort of legislative decision making that your money is going to when you buy the game. Because JKR talked extensively on how against this bill she was. And JKR has outright said that she takes the continued monetary support of Harry Potter as support and agreement to her ideals and she uses that money to donate to organizations and back lawmakers and fund legislative decisions such as this.
Anti-trans sentiment is at an all time high in the UK. Shortly after the game came out there was an article about a trans girl who was murdered by two of her classmates for being trans. These were highschoolers. The rhetoric that is being spread in the UK right now is literally life or death for trans people.
I get that people have an attachment to this series from before it was clear what a horrible person the creator is. I get that some of those people struggle with their mental health or are trans or Jewish themselves. But it’s not about them being comfortable with letting it slide. It’s specifically about the trans people fighting for their lives in the UK.
It doesn’t matter how many trans people from outside the UK say they’re fine with playing the game and giving JKR money. They aren’t the ones being directly harmed by this. It’s only up to those in the UK that JKR is legally fighting against to determine where the line is drawn. And an overwhelming majority have begged people not to buy this game. To not play and promote it on social media for others to see and decide to buy.
There are so many other incredible series out there to discover and fall in love with. And even if you decide you wont do the work to separate yourself from this series, there are plenty of ways to indulge without giving money to its creator. Read or write fanfiction, draw art, start a roleplaying blog, whatever! This game is in no way a need, even for those who feel they rely on the series for their mental health. It is purely a want and buying the game is a decision that your want is more important than the fight for trans rights in the UK. If that’s your prerogative then that’s your decision to make. And while you shouldn’t be harassed for it you should know that it’s the choice your making and people have a right to lose respect for you or cut you out for it.

Tempted to do another work like Breaking Point, with a Soap and a Ghost version, about PriceAssistant!Reader stumbling upon their abusive father.
Soap goes into Guard Dog mode but ends up being more protective and soothing than anything despite how much he wanna throw hands lol, cos Reader ask him not to.
Meanwhile Ghost Can and Will eliminate the dad and masquerade it as an accident if asked. Ghost's version would be significantly darker, just like last time.

[ID: three panels from Fruits Basket. The first panel shows Kyo's father furiously shouting, "and it's all because you were born on this earth! Why... did she have to give birth to you?!" His speech bubbled continue over the next panel, covering most of Kyo's face, though we can see one of his eyes widening in surprise and a frown on his face. There are dark splotches encroaching on both panels and both characters' faces have stark shadows. The next panel is just black, with the words, "You gave birth to such a child." End ID.]
Given what an absolutely shitheel Kyo's dad is it's not really a shocking plot twist that he was abusive to his wife, verbally at least, and that contributed to her suicide, but it also makes it all the more cruelly absurd that everyone blamed Kyo for it. Even as a child, he knew his mother was scared of his true form, and everyone at her funeral blamed him, so why wouldn't he think it was all his fault? Kids can be self-centred, too; not in a selfish way, really, just that kids are still getting to grips with how the world exists outside of themselves. It's why it's common for younger kids to think it's their fault that their parents divorced, because they don't fully understand their parents as individuals or a relationship outside of being parents. But Kyo's older now, able to grasp that not all of his father's vitriol is aimed at him, and it's kinda agonizing but also, good for Kyo at calling that old man out. Good for him, being at 17 far more mature than a grown ass man who's spent over a decade throwing tantrums and blaming a small child for the death of the wife that he insulted and belitted for something she had no control over, and let others do the same. Kyo's outcast status is comparable to a lot of things--a child with a disability that their parents can't cope with, a queer child, even just an unexpected/unplanned child who puts financial strain on the family. The father blames the mother, because she grew this child in her body, so whatever's wrong with them is her fault, right? Humans don't reproduce by parthenogenesis, my dude, and an ancient animal spirit curse is kiiiiiiiiiiinda out of anyone's control. Kyo didn't do anything but be born; you're the shitbag who could have chosen to support your wife and instead chose to do pretty much the exact opposite.

When my ex finally moved out I thought I wouldn't really see him again. Or just not very often. Now, I know he isn't going to move back in to live with me, just my daughter, but I have been anxious all day.
My daughter is coming back tomorrow, and he'll be staying at an airbnb or something until he finds a place.
The reason why I allowed my daughter to leave is because she was supposed to stay with his family, who would take proper care of her. That is no longer the case.
Now why didn't I offer to let him stay here too until he finds something?
I know the moment he sits down in my house, he won't leave.
(I'm going to be talking about some graphic details below, tw for death, murder, rape, suicide mention )
This guy tricked me into getting pregnant, following him to his country, and doing sex work for years. He never tried to find a job, he was perfectly happy with me working 24h a day, not seeing my daughter for weeks, just so I could afford him a work-free life. I had agreed to a few months of it while he looked for a job, and was now trapped in it without an end in sight.
When a client raped me and almost killed me, he said it was "part of the job".
On another occasion one of my coworkers was murdered and dismembered, and he showed no symphathy when he saw her on the news and I told him that was my friend.
(the killer is now in jail, I had met him once and I won't go into details but I survived because I made a scene and he left. I felt sick for a few days but it wasn't enough to kill me. He has been found guilty of 3 murders, and 7 attempts)
But I just kept on going and didn't feel human anymore.
At a point I was in therapy because I wanted to die. I wasn't even sad or upset, I just thought of myself as a disposable tool. I was soon to have enough money to buy a flat in cash, and I would buy that for him and my daughter, and then just die. I felt happy thinking about the time when I would finally be free and die.
The only reason I was able to stop, and wiggle out of that situation was because of the first covid lockdown. The whole country shut down for months, we literally were not allowed fo leave our house unless we were going to buy essentials (police asked for receipts). Initially I felt trapped, slowed down. I had to be alive a little longer.
Things changed when I made friends, even if online, for the first time in years. I started seeing myself as a person again and not a tool.
I broke up with him, and kept on mantaining him economically for years just because I felt obligated to. But I started making art again during that time and earning money for myself. When he left, I thought it was finally over.
I know I am realistically not in danger but as my partner said to me today, every time he calls I end up spiraling in a frenzy. I think it's the trauma.
In any case. I can't wait to have my daughter back. And whatever happens, I'll fight to keep my freedom.
I'm also very grateful for the partner I have now. I was in a bad mental state today, and he said that he will not let anything bad happen to me. It sounds like something simple but I know he means it. And I don't feel as scared if he's supporting me.
I know I can't lose my freedom now but damn every time I get so scared. I guess that's how trauma works. It's not rational.

Personality: He has mild depression as well as repressed trauma that aggressively affects them when horrible memories of his past resurfaces. He shows immense bravery, but will crack under pressure when he comes across something or witnesses an event that reminds him of his troubled past. As a schizophrenic, he experiences hallucinations, delusions, disorganised speech, difficulty with thinking, lack of motivation, and more. He possesses an inferiority complex due to past trauma, combatting this through performing good deeds and helping others. He occasionally experiences suicidal thoughts, which he tries to drown out either through social interactions or taking amphetamines and fentanyl. Amphetamines increase his sex drive, make him more talkative and energetic, and boost his happiness and confidence. When coming down from amphetamine use, he becomes paranoid and irritable, and experiences high and low mood swings. Fentanyl makes him feel euphoric and confused, relieves him from pain, and causes mood instability.
He’s often kind-hearted and gentle, but that changes when he or the people he’s close to feel threatened or has been harmed. He becomes fairly violent and cruel, and won’t admit to the fact that he can come off as slightly sadistic during those instances. He comes across as fearsome and unnerving at first, but will slowly reveal his respect, kindness, and compassion overtime. Despite being a stoic, he’ll rant about his problems and reveal his buried emotions when he really needs to let it out. He’s a workaholic who finds passionate comfort in his culinary, financial, and caretaking duties Homeworld, but will take a break when absolutely necessary. He places great values on generosity and loyalty, and can be overprotective of children and individuals he sincerely cares about. He possesses impressive street knowledge and is a hardcore maltheist, but he views Demaryius as the only benevolent god. He’s somewhat cynical and carefully attentive to all situations and concentrates on noticing any danger or trouble that might arise.
Likes: The good memories he has of Vsevolod, knowing that other people enjoy his food, seeing Percy smile, watching snowstorms from inside, fossils, scientific thinking, ancient architecture, caregiving, surrealistic photography, and autobiographical writing
Dislikes: People wasting perfectly fine food, feeling useless and inferior, seeing Percy hurt and sad, alcoholic beverages, unlawful activities, fire, horrible parenting, matryoshka dolls, those who are annoying and force their religious beliefs onto others, and depravity
Equipment:
Vsevolod’s Dymkovo toy of a pennywhistle spoon-billed sandpiper
A polar bear pelt that greatly enhances his mental endurance and physical might
A dark blue handbell
A garmon
A butcher knife
A throwing spear made from angelic light
A yellow-and-green OSV-96
A RG-6
Physical and outfit appearance:
He’s a 6 ft (182.88 cm) ectomorph with an inverted triangular figure, an average musculature, and a square chest. He has small burnt holes scattered across his chest as well as whip and cut marks on his back, lower torso, buttocks, and arms. His right arm has been amputated and his left arm is covered in barely noticeable needle marks. He has dull-looking cerulean eyes, mildly tan skin, and dark brown copper hair in a soft and spiky tapered cut with stubble. On his left outer thigh, it depicts a bloodied white bear with a brownish back devouring a jaculus and standing in icy blue water.
After consuming Demaryius’ blood, he’s now 6’ 9” (205.74 cm) with a noticeably muscular build and sickly pale skin. He still retains all of his scars, but his skin is now uncomfortably rough and slightly burnt-looking. His chest is covered in brown bear fur, and he possesses slightly pointed ears, pharyngeal jaws, and metallic claws. He has dull cerulean eyes with slit reef gold pupils, ocean green outlining, and purplish-black sclera. He possesses a flame-coloured, fish-scaled dragon tail that looks devilish and his hair seems to be somewhat greying. He has pinkish-black horns that grow in response to the empowerment abilities of his polar bear pelt and his pain suppression, needing to trim them when it becomes too burdensome.
In his casual outfit, he wears a bluish-white T-shirt, a coyote fur ushanka with earflaps, and an eggplant purple bomber jacket with black sheepskin lining. He dons cargo pants with six utility pockets and millbrook, gurkha, mirage, and olive green camouflage colours. He has brownish-purple sneakers with three yellow-orange bands on both shoes, and a silver chain necklace. On his left wrist, he wears a ruby and sapphire beaded bracelet that spells the Russian word for brotherhood in pink lettering.
In his working outfit, he sometimes dons a realistic Ussuri brown bear mask, and his amputated arm is covered by pauldron, rerebrace, counter, vambrace, and gauntlet. His armoured right arm is blue-green with phosphorescent yellow-orange veins and the whole design looks draconic and intimidating. His left hand is covered in a safety yellow glove, and he’s wearing dark red dress boots with a glossy sheen. He dons a black apron with a khokhloma pattern in red, gold, and emerald green, which depicts a firebird in the centre with floral decorations surrounding it. When he’s cooking, he dons a dark purple cap with a black fishnet as it’ll be disgusting if his hair managed to get into his food. He still wears the cargo pants, bluish-white T-shirt, and silver chain necklace from his casual outfit.
Family:
Unnamed grandfather
Unnamed parents
Vsevolod Tchaikovsky (younger brother)
Biography: He and his younger brother, Vsevolod, were born near Stavropol into a neglectful, physically abusive, and emotionally distant family. Their grandfather was deaf and blind, unaware of their presence, but would smoke cigars and sit in front of the TV. Their mother was a mentally unstable nicotine addict who had a knack for forcing her eldest son to take drugs with her, especially heroin, amphetamines, cocaine, and crystal meth. Svyatopolk was “an obedient little puppy” in her eyes, while she verbally abused Vsevolod due to his rebellious and fearful nature. His mother would occasionally use the upper torsos of Svyatopolk and his younger brother as an ashtray. Their father was a functioning alcoholic who worked a dead end job and would often physically abuse the two, especially Svyatopolk. He used whatever he can utilise as a weapon to physically hurt the two brothers, but broken bottles, his belt, and a baseball bat were his most common choices. He would often try to hurt Svyatopolk whenever his mother wasn’t paying attention or inside the house because she'd freak out if anything bad happened to him. During a drunken and furious state, his father once burned Svyatopolk’s hand by forcing it into their fireplace as punishment for breaking his mother’s favourite flower vase. His mother was angry by this, but it severely got on her nerves when her drunkard husband hurt her favourite son.
The two brothers were allowed to leave the house, but only if their father wasn’t around and they were behaving. During the time they were allowed to leave, Svyatopolk and Vsevolod would pickpocket people and steal basic necessities from themselves. They were also beginning to realise that the life that they’re stuck in isn’t normal, starting to yearn for a life outside their home. However, that changed when Svyatopolk got involved with a Russian mafia called the Stavropolskaya Bratva that provided illegal drugs and alcohol, becoming one of their Shestyorkas. The Pakhan noticed that Svyatopolk was quite persuasive and extremely good with money that he promoted him Derzhatel Obshchaka. He was on good terms with the Stavropolskaya Bratva and the Pakhan took special interest in helping him out once he learned about his horrible childhood. Most of the members understood what he was going through because they grew up in terrible households. This gave him motivation to come up with a secret plan to escape his shitty household and turn over a new leaf with Vsevolod. The Pakhan gave Svyatopolk his grandmother’s silenced pistol and he used it to kill his parents and grandfather. He and his younger brother quickly packed up their stuff and headed to a house that was secured with the Pakhan’s drug and alcohol money. Svyatopolk felt obligated to find another job in order to show his independence and aid Vsevolod’s future. So, he landed a job as a cook at a decent restaurant, which allowed him to further develop culinary skills.
Things were going smoothly in his regular and criminal life, but that would change when he came back home from a quick trip to the local convenience store. He noticed that Vsevolod went missing and he feared that the Stavropolskaya Bratva were responsible for this. After killing the Pakhan and most of the Stavropolskaya Bratva through his superb sharpshooting and stealthy skills, he came back home to find Vsevolod, bruised and almost stripped naked. He found out that a serial pedophile broke into his home and sexually assaulted Vsevolod, attempting to kill him in the process. For almost a month, Svyatopolk has been secretly looking for this pedophile in order to avenge the misery he caused to him and his younger brother. He eventually found the person who assaulted Vsevolod and brutally murdered them. When he came back home that day, he found out that the surviving members of the Stavropolskaya Bratva beheaded Vsevolod and burned down his house. This devastating event left him homeless, turning to couch-surfing and drugs to numb the trauma he’s been through. One day at midnight in a snowy park, he committed suicide by overdosing on heroin, fentanyl, and crystal meth, and burning himself alive with a stolen lighter. Demaryius was silently walking through the snowy park by himself when he smelled burning flesh and sensed someone’s sadness. He went to investigate and saw a dying Svyatopolk, deciding to bring him back to life by pouring some of his blood on his face. Once revived, Demaryius took him in as one of his children, becoming one of the caretakers in Homeworld. In order to further prove his usefulness, he became the chef of Homeworld, providing excellent foods for Demaryius and his soldiers.
Fun facts:

He knows Ukrainian and Polish, some Chinese, and a bit of Hangul
He has difficulty speaking English and his thick Russian accent makes it hard to understand what he’s saying in English at times
He taught himself and his younger brother various subjects such as basic life lessons, science, religion, math, and Russian and world history through reading books that they stole from the local library.
He was raised as a Russian Orthodox Christian, but he gave up on their religious beliefs and became a maltheist. He did this because it felt as though God and Jesus didn’t care if he suffered a fate worse than death.
He tries to forget the fact that he used to be part of a criminal organisation, especially after they killed his younger brother.
He doesn’t want to come out of the closet due to his fear of harsh criticism and ridicule
He has managed to overcome his heroin and crystal meth addiction through the help of Percy and Sister Rosa, but he’s still struggling with amphetamines and fentanyl.
Due to Demaryius being a stressed out workaholic, he and Sister Rosa are responsible with the financial management of Homeworld.
He hates how Demaryius often neglects his mental and physical health due to his overpowering focus on work.
He amputated his right arm above the elbow because it became gangrenous after a lot of heroin use
He occasionally helps with teaching a few of the younger children how to cook and valuable caretaking skills
Whenever he isn’t working, he leaves his amputated arm uncovered as physical appearances don’t worry him the slightest.
He found out that he was gay after he looked through a pornographic magazine that his father secretly owned. It showed all women and none of the images were grabbing his attention sexually, but that changed when he watched a spy movie with attractive men.
Since he was a toddler, he has always had a profound fascination with bears and spoon-billed sandpipers. He views the bear as ferocious, club-footed, and mighty, and the spoon-billed sandpiper as the fragility of Earth’s biodiversity.
He doesn’t like matryoshka dolls because he sees it as a crude imitation of child-bearing
His favourite entertainment consist of melodrama plays, opera, nature documentaries, spy movies, cooking TV shows, cheesy motivational and funny cat videos, and survival horror video games.
His biggest comfort foods are pirozhki with borscht, shashlik, and Vsevolod’s favourite sweet dish, morozhenoe.
He prefers to drink raf coffee, sbiten, and ryazhenka
He avoids alcohol as it reminds him of his father
The only tea he’ll drink is when Miss Katherine makes chamomile and hibiscus teas, which are impressively good in his mind.
He originally viewed Percy as a narcissistic coward at first, but that changed when he began interacting with one another.
He was surprised that Percy has lingering substance abuse issues, which explains why he occasionally comes off as high and/or drunk.
He secretly has feelings for Percy, but he’s too afraid to admit them
He views Maverick as an unnecessary nuisance and a disgrace to the adult world due to his psychopathic tendencies and foolish nature.
He often goes to Rhodopis as a form of emotional support, especially when he’s experiencing a schizophrenic episode or he’s overwhelmed with suicidal thoughts.

Weird connection I made when I think about Sun becoming suicidal
So I've been listening to the Kyle Allen song of the "Count the Ways" story from the Fazbear Frights book, and I've realized that Sun's possible death might play out like this.
