okay i’d like to play a game folks, if you would humor me. can you tell me in the tags if you’re queer or not, and if when you were a kid, did you have a celebrity crush. and if yes, was it an actual crush, or was it a celebrity you’d picked out to be your crush?

Needs & Wants - Sex Pollen Trope Pt. 1
Bucky Barnes x Reader
Summary: When you're both exposed to an unknown chemical in the field, things go from bad to worse.
Warnings: prelude to obvious smut, talk of masturbation, talk of unprotected sex, profanity, use of y/n, MINORS DNI, 18+!!!
Feel free to comment and let me know if this requires more warnings.
Word Count: 2.8k
Author's Note: Just messing around on here and seeing where I end up. I want to write an absolutely filthy part 2 but if this doesn't get anywhere I may scrap it lmao.
Tumblr media
Every. Damn. Time. Something goes sideways every damn time. You want to blame Fury for making the two of you partners to begin with. What the hell did he see between the two of you that made him think missions would ever end in anything other than the two of you butting heads? You sigh deeply and rub your temples with the pads of your left thumb and middle finger, squeezing your eyes shut as you will yourself not to kick Bucky clear across the lab. You know what Fury saw between the two of you, and as much as you hate to admit it, when you’re in absolute life-or-death situations, you and Bucky work together better than any other partner you’ve ever had in the field. Even Nat.
Dropping your hand from your face and opening your eyes, your gaze lands on Bucky. He stands at one of the lab benchtops in the center of the room, his eyes narrowing as he examines an array of monitor screens before him. You can make out an organized table of data along with a few charts on the monitor to his left, but that’s not what draws your attention. The second monitor, the one right in front of him, displays a few words that have you on edge.
Confirmed nitric oxide stimulant capabilities. New formula contains increased quantity of aqueous extract of dried tuberous roots of C. borivilianum.
Shit. This can’t be what you think it is, but with your medical background and your old medical microbiology classes from before joining SHIELD and the Avengers, you know that there’s a very slim chance that you’re misinterpreting what you’re reading. You step forward now, gently pushing Bucky’s arm to move him away from the monitors so you can get a better look at the data. He begins snapping pictures and immediately sending them back to the team. You can feel his eyes on you as you study the graphs and tables. He’s not used to you being this quiet, he knows something’s up.
“What are we looking at?” He finally speaks up, his gaze drawn to the colorful graph displayed on one of the monitors.
“I don’t know.” You lie straight through your teeth, reaching for the keyboard that controls the monitors. You press the right-facing arrow key and the page that said something about nitric oxide disappears, quickly replaced being replaced by a row of video clips, each one titled with a trial number and date. It looks like HYDRA was running trials in this experiment for months.
“Bullshit. Why won’t you tell me what it is?” Bucky asks. His tone is sharp, impatient. He isn’t used to being the one who doesn’t know what’s going on, and it’s bothering him. He gnaws on the inside of his cheek and waits in silence for you to say something, to say anything. You hover the cursor over the first video clip, dated three months ago from today, Trial #1. Everything in you is screaming not to watch it, not to click on it and confirm your suspicions, but you’re here for a reason. You have an easy job here today: break into the HYDRA facility, collect samples and any data that goes along with what they’ve been working on for the past few months, and then destroy the facility on your way out. Sam and Torres planned it out so perfectly, making sure it would be vacant for the next 13 hours so you and Bucky could slip in and get the job done under the radar. They planned it for two months, doing recon and coming up with contingency plan after contingency plan. You need to confirm your suspicions and get as much evidence as possible before blowing the place to bits.
You glance over your shoulder at Bucky, and his blue eyes meet yours with a hint of concern. He hates when you’re quiet like this, he hates those rare moments in the field when he can’t read your mind. What the hell are you thinking? What aren’t you telling him? He knows you well enough to know that you’re nervous about whatever you’re seeing here.
You click the video link and a slightly grainy image of a padded square room fills the screen. The floor and walls are gray and there isn’t any furniture in the room, only what looks to be a set of shackles on the back wall. A shiver runs down your spine and you pull your phone out, typing up a message to Bruce Banner while you wait for something to happen on screen.
You: A chemical compound that stimulates NO and uses aqueous extract of C. borivilianum…is it going to be what I think it is?
As your message sends, Bucky reaches around you, his chest brushing against your back, and he uses the mouse to fast forward the video until people are appearing on screen. You watch as presumably a HYDRA agent shoves a woman into the room, obviously an unwilling participant in the experiment. She doesn’t fight much as she’s placed in the shackles on the wall, but it’s obvious that she’s weak and likely drugged. The HYDRA agent briefly steps out of view of the camera, before returning with a second captive, a man this time. He’s large, muscular, and has a dark look in his eye. You feel Bucky stiffen up behind you, realizing at the same time as you that this man is a super soldier. Your phone vibrates in your hand and you steal a look at the response from Banner.
Banner: Yes.
Fuck. The next two minutes of the video are pure horror, even though nothing particularly horrific happens before you slam your hand down on the spacebar, pausing the clip abruptly. You both watched on as a cloudy vapor was pumped into the room through vents, and then watched on as the super soldier became more and more restless, sweaty, and crazed. As soon as the female captive began whimpering and pulling against her shackles, with her eyes trained on the super soldier a few feet to her left, you couldn’t let the video play any longer.
“Tell me what it is.” Bucky says evenly from behind you. You swallow hard and reach into one of the pockets of your tactical pants, pulling out a device similar to a USB and plugging it into the computer before you. As all of the data and video clips begin to transmit through the device, back to Sam and Torres, you turn around and face your partner.
“HYDRA hasn’t been able to recreate the super soldier serum. They haven’t made any progress at all since Zemo killed Dr. Nagel.” You say slowly, choosing your tone and words carefully. You don’t want to say too much and leave Bucky as terrified as you are right now, but you also know you can’t keep this from him. Not when you need him to understand how fucking careful you’re both going to have to be from now until the end of this mission.
“I know that. What are we here for, y/n?” His tone is growing more and more impatient, his jaw ticking as he stares down at you. God, he can’t ever just shut up and listen. You put your hand on his chest, shoving him a few steps back and walking across the lab, to the glass refrigerator in the far corner. It’s full of vials of a clear liquid, each sealed at the top and marked with a label full of scientific terms.
“They got desperate, and turned to even more barbaric methods of creating super soldiers. They started experimenting with chemical compounds that induce a primal need in those exposed.” You explain carefully. You pause now, turning to look back at Bucky once more. You see realization spread across his face and he quickly comes to understand what you’re saying. It’s a fucking sex pollen.
Static crackles in your in-ear briefly before Sam’s voice reaches you both.
“Banner and Stark just finished reviewing some of the data you shared. This is not something that either of you want to be exposed to.” Sam advises, and you can hear Torres in the background typing away on a keyboard.
“Yeah, no shit.” You mutter, retrieving a pair of nitrile gloves from a box on the benchtop nearby and setting up the small lockbox that you brought for samples. You open it to reveal a padded interior, with enough room for three vials. The rest will have to be destroyed.
“Just grab the samples, rig the place to blow, and get the hell out of there. I don’t want you in there any longer than you have to be.” Sam’s orders spur Bucky into action, and he starts setting up explosives around the corners of the lab while you get ready to retrieve the samples from the fridge. If only you’d known that HYDRA was one step ahead.
It happened so fast that you didn’t even have time to try to protect yourself. The moment that you pulled open the small door to the fridge full of samples, that same cloudy vapor you saw in the video clip began to rush in from every air vent in the lab.
“Shit.” You mumble, reaching into the fridge and grabbing three vials. You quickly place them into the lockbox and seal it, knowing that you’ll definitely need samples to test now that you’ve both been exposed.
“Sam, we’ve got a problem.” Bucky is as calm as ever, though his voice comes out slightly annoyed. Of course he’d sound annoyed in this moment. He’s been exposed to a sex pollen alongside the partner that he can only get along with when they’re staring death right in the face. He heaves a weighty sigh before stalking over to you and snatching the lockbox from the benchtop. He quickly slides his backpack off, shoving it inside, and then heading for the exit, without checking to see if you’re on his heels or not. You strip off your gloves and bound after him. The gravity of the situation hasn’t hit either of you yet, but oh, it will soon enough.
--
Bucky weaves his motorcycle in and out of traffic almost recklessly, with your arms clutched around his abdomen. It’s only been fifteen minutes since you were both exposed but you swear that you’re starting to feel the effects. Your cheeks are hot and flushed under your helmet, your hands are shaking as adrenaline courses through your veins, and your heart is racing. If you hadn’t been on the back of a motorcycle with Bucky so many times in the past, you would’ve chalked your symptoms up to this experience, but it’s definitely not that.
“Loosen up, are you trying to do the Heimlich on me or something?” Bucky spits out, his voice playing in your helmet. You do as he says, loosening your hold and taking a deep breath in. You don’t say anything in response, which furthers the tension between you both. It’s been fifteen minutes of stressful silence and Bucky’s losing his damn mind. He wants you to give him shit like you usually would when a mission goes sideways. He wants you to lash out, tell him to stop driving like an ass, he wants you to say anything so he knows you’re okay. He can’t fucking stand the silence.
He guides the bike down the long dirt road to the safe house you stayed in last night, and you hop off before he’s even put the kickstand down. He watches as you rush up the steps of the small cobblestone house, yanking off your helmet in one swift movement before you key the code into the door and force it open. You’re feeling the effects of the chemical pulsing through your veins, you’re feeling it and you’re trying to keep it from him.
--
“It’s a very complex compound. A nitric oxide stimulant, utilizing both natural and man-made components. It’s basically a super soldier version of Viagra and ecstasy all in one.” Bruce says, addressing both you and Bucky through the video call. Concern and stress are etched into his soft features as he stands in the lab of the Avengers compound, his arms crossed and glasses sliding down the bridge of his nose. “You’re going to have to look out for the negative effects, which from the video clips of their experiments, are extremely strong. Take the side effects of ecstasy and multiply their intensity by a hundred.”
“So, sweating, hypertension and tachycardia, jaw pain…” Your voice trails off as you list off the side effects of ecstasy that you know from your previous pharmacology classes. Bruce nods slowly.
“Basically, you’ll feel like you’re having a heart attack, unless you’re able to relieve yourselves.” He summarizes.
“What do you mean relieve yourselves?” Bucky questions. He’s seated on the couch next to you, his brow is furrowed and a sheen of sweat is becoming apparent along the side of his neck. You try not to look at him for too long, already feeling yourself longing for touch and physical contact of any kind.
“If you’re able to achieve a postcoital state, you should have temporary relief of your symptoms. You might have to achieve that state more than once, until the chemical is out of your system.” You can almost hear the wheels turning in Bucky’s head as he works out what postcoital means. You have to reach an orgasm to feel any relief, but bless Banner for trying to put it in a more professional way.
“Have you tested the half-life of the chemical yet?” You ponder, wanting to know exactly how long you’ll both be suffering through this. You wipe a bead of sweat from your brow with the back of your hand.
“Yeah, it seems like it can last anywhere from eight to ten hours in a non-super soldier, but it was designed specifically to work in conjunction with the serum, so it lasts eight to twelve hours in a super soldier.” Bruce’s words are starting to jumble together in your head, adding to the slightly throbbing headache that’s forming behind your eyes. You squeeze them shut and rub your temples just like you did in the lab earlier, zoning out as Tony and Bruce both start discussing the pharmacokinetics behind the compound currently wrecking your body.
“What are our options here?” Bucky asks quietly, directing his question to you alone. You turn to look at him and see his cheeks flushed like yours now, his pupils dilated a minute amount, and his hands clasped together over his knees. There’s no hiding that it’s affecting you both now.
“I don’t know. The only thing I can think to do is lock ourselves in different rooms and try to ride it out.” You say, rubbing your aching thighs through your tactical pants with the palms of your hands. Your bones are starting to hurt in a deep, consuming way, and all you want to do is give yourself a few doses of propofol to knock yourself out for the next eight hours. It’s going to be hell trying to get through this without having sex, especially if pain is setting in only an hour after the initial exposure.
“Okay, so we do that. We each lock ourselves in a bedroom and fight it.” Bucky sounds sure and resolved, like he has total faith that your only plan available will work out fine. All it took to bring out his optimistic side was being doused with a sex pollen and stuck in a safe house.
“I want to monitor both of your vitals through the night.” Bruce calls out, gaining your attention again.
“No.” You and Bucky both speak firmly at the same time, quick to reject the idea. You don’t need a medical record showing how aroused you end up being tonight, you don’t need Bruce or any of the SHIELD lab staff watching your heart rate increase as you touch yourself, watching your blood pressure spike as you near your climax alone. Bucky is thinking the same thing, shit, his heart rate is probably already through the roof as it is, just from sitting next to you. He tries to focus on whatever else you, Bruce, and Tony are discussing but his jaw is clenched in pain and he’s fighting the urge to rip off his tactical suit right there. It feels like it’s fucking ninety degrees inside. The only thing he catches in the last bit of the conversation is from Tony.
“There’s a chance you won’t find any relief in an orgasm alone, Y/n. Bucky will, because his body won’t know the difference between finishing himself off vs. finishing inside of a fertile woman, but this compound is meant to make your reproductive system go into overdrive. You won’t feel relief until your body thinks it has a chance of reproducing, until semen is introduced into your system.”
“Fuck.” You inhale sharply, doubling over in pain both at Tony’s unfortunate conclusion and at the cramping sensation you’ve suddenly felt deep in your stomach. Fucking hell.

Do you have a snoot noodle or other variation of sighthound? If yes, there’s new heart health research for the breed happening!
A researcher at Texas A&M whose work I’m familiar with is starting a new study looking at genetic factors contributing to heart disease in Borzoi and related breeds. They just put out a call for dog owners who are willing to submit saliva samples & (noodle) medical records. Studies like this need a big sample size! They’re accepting new sign-ups starting now until March 1, 2025, for dogs both in the US and internationally.
Let’s help make some science!
From the study page:
“Background and purpose
Recent research in Borzoi dogs has revealed that dogs of this breed experience sudden, unexplained death. About 85% of sudden, unexplained deaths in humans are linked to an underlying heart disease. Our existing research in Borzoi dogs has shown that they are predisposed to developing arrhythmias (abnormal heart rhythms) and dilated cardiomyopathy (a heart muscle disease causing dilated heart chambers and weak pumping function).
Due to our documentation of the frequency of these conditions in Borzoi dogs, we seek to identify responsible genetic variations similar to what is seen in humans with electrical cardiac diseases that trigger arrhythmias and dilated cardiomyopathy.
The objective of our study is to identify genetic mutations associated with heart disease in Borzoi dogs and document their existence in other sighthound breeds.
What happens in this study
We are collecting saliva samples from both healthy Borzoi and Borzoi dogs affected with arrhythmias and/or dilated cardiomyopathy. We will also collect saliva samples from any other sighthound breeds.
We will extract DNA from these samples and perform genomic sequencing on a select number while retaining the remainder for further screening.By analyzing the sequencing data, we can compare the genes of healthy and affected Borzoi dogs and identify variants linked to their heart conditions. We will also compare the findings in Borzoi dogs to results from other sighthound breeds.
Pet owner responsibilities
A swab kit will be sent to you for at home use along with a link to an instructional video on how to properly obtain a swab of the mouth. The kit will contain equipment to collect the saliva swab, a history form for your pet, a client consent form and a shipping label to return samples to us.
Participation requirements
To participate, you must have a Borzoi dog or a sighthound breed that is either healthy or affected by arrhythmias and/or dilated cardiomyopathy. Pets may be any age or sex. Electronic or paper veterinary medical records will need to be provided.
Benefits and risks of participating
There is little to no risk for taking a brief swab of the mouth for saliva collection if procedures outlined in the video are followed. No individual genetic test results will be provided to study participants.
Compensation
There is no cost to the owner for participating in this study. No compensation will be provided.”

Sharpening Our View of Climate Change with the Plankton, Aerosol, Cloud, ocean Ecosystem Satellite
As our planet warms, Earth’s ocean and atmosphere are changing.
Climate change has a lot of impact on the ocean, from sea level rise to marine heat waves to a loss of biodiversity. Meanwhile, greenhouse gases like carbon dioxide continue to warm our atmosphere.
NASA’s upcoming satellite, PACE, is soon to be on the case!
Set to launch on Feb. 6, 2024, the Plankton, Aerosol, Cloud, ocean Ecosystem (PACE) mission will help us better understand the complex systems driving the global changes that come with a warming climate.
Tumblr media
Earth’s ocean is becoming greener due to climate change. PACE will see the ocean in more hues than ever before.
While a single phytoplankton typically can’t be seen with the naked eye, communities of trillions of phytoplankton, called blooms, can be seen from space. Blooms often take on a greenish tinge due to the pigments that phytoplankton (similar to plants on land) use to make energy through photosynthesis.
In a 2023 study, scientists found that portions of the ocean had turned greener because there were more chlorophyll-carrying phytoplankton. PACE has a hyperspectral sensor, the Ocean Color Instrument (OCI), that will be able to discern subtle shifts in hue. This will allow scientists to monitor changes in phytoplankton communities and ocean health overall due to climate change.
Tumblr media
Phytoplankton play a key role in helping the ocean absorb carbon from the atmosphere. PACE will identify different phytoplankton species from space.
With PACE, scientists will be able to tell what phytoplankton communities are present – from space! Before, this could only be done by analyzing a sample of seawater.
Telling “who’s who” in a phytoplankton bloom is key because different phytoplankton play vastly different roles in aquatic ecosystems. They can fuel the food chain and draw down carbon dioxide from the atmosphere to photosynthesize. Some phytoplankton populations capture carbon as they die and sink to the deep ocean; others release the gas back into the atmosphere as they decay near the surface.
Studying these teeny tiny critters from space will help scientists learn how and where phytoplankton are affected by climate change, and how changes in these communities may affect other creatures and ocean ecosystems.
Tumblr media
Climate models are one of our most powerful tools to understand how Earth is changing. PACE data will improve the data these models rely on.
The PACE mission will offer important insights on airborne particles of sea salt, smoke, human-made pollutants, and dust – collectively called aerosols – by observing how they interact with light.
With two instruments called polarimeters, SPEXone and HARP2, PACE will allow scientists to measure the size, composition, and abundance of these microscopic particles in our atmosphere. This information is crucial to figuring out how climate and air quality are changing.
PACE data will help scientists answer key climate questions, like how aerosols affect cloud formation or how ice clouds and liquid clouds differ.
It will also enable scientists to examine one of the trickiest components of climate change to model: how clouds and aerosols interact. Once PACE is operational, scientists can replace the estimates currently used to fill data gaps in climate models with measurements from the new satellite.
Tumblr media
With a view of the whole planet every two days, PACE will track both microscopic organisms in the ocean and microscopic particles in the atmosphere. PACE’s unique view will help us learn more about the ways climate change is impacting our planet’s ocean and atmosphere.
Stay up to date on the NASA PACE blog, and make sure to follow us on Tumblr for your regular dose of sPACE!

Some hints about evaluating scientific studies
Firstly, understand that something being published in a scientific journal (or an academic journal for the social sciences) does not automatically make it true. Publishers profit from publishing novel, eye-catching, surprising research, which means they are more likely to publish positive results than ones that didn't find a connection between given variables. This means that scientists' careers benefit when they get positive results. Certain institutions also benefit from certain findings above others (a committee for research on "obesity" that is funded by a government organisation tasked with ending it, for example, is likely to try to stretch the evidence to find a link between body weight and poor health outcomes). So how do people evaluate scientific studies, especially without being scientists themselves?
Literature reviews
Literature reviews, which aim to assemble and summarise most of the available or influential papers on a given issue, can be a good place to start when trying to research that issue. Typically, scientific studies shouldn't only be evaluated on a case-by-case basis (since even well-designed studies can be contradicted by other, equally well-designed studies), but a full survey of the different results people have gotten should be taken.
Background information and conflicts of interest
Try to find out who funded a given study. Who published the study? What do these people stand to gain from the results of the study being accepted? (For example: you might pay special attention to the experimental design on a study on whether a certain essential oil helps to reverse hair loss that was carried out by a company that sells that oil.)
In theory, many journals call for study authors to declare any conflicts of interest they may have in a special section of the paper. This section should also list funding sources. You might also look up the authors on linkedin or something to find where they're employed; also look into whether another conglomerate owns that company, &c.
Experimental design
If the study involves a survey, have the authors of the paper provided the questions that people were asked, so that you can evaluate them for potential ambiguity or confusing wording? Not being transparent about the exact wording of questions is a sign that a study isn't trustworthy.
What's the sample size? Is it large enough for the claim the study is making to be reasonable? (More on this in the next section.)
Does the experimental design make sense with what the researchers wanted to study? Are the claims that they make in the conclusion section something that could reasonably be proven or suggested by the experiment that they performed?
Does the experimental design "bake in" an assumption of the truth of its hypothesis? (For example, measuring skeletons to argue that they fall into statistically significant size groupings by sex, using skeletons that you sorted into "male" and "female" groups based on their size, is clearly circular).
How was data collected? People might change their answers to a survey, for example, if they have to speak to a person to give them, rather than writing them down anonymously. Self-reported information (such as a survey aiming to figure out average height or average penis size) is also subject to bias. A good study should be transparent about how the authors collected their data, and be clear about how this could have affected their results.
Also regarding surveys: do the categories that the authors have divided respondents into make sense? Are these categories really mutually exclusive? If respondents were asked to sort themselves into categories (e.g., to select their own race or ethnicity), is there any guarantee that they all interpreted the question / the boundaries of these categories the same way? How would this affect the results?
Interpretation of results
Could anything other than the conclusion that the authors came to explain the results of their experiment? For example, a study finding a correlation between two variables and assuming that this means one variable causes the other ("being in a lot of stress causes short stature" or vise versa) could be missing a secret third thing which is in fact causing both of those things (e.g., poverty). Check to make sure that the authors considered other explanations for their findings and ruled them out (for example, by controlling for other variables such as socioeconomic status).
Are the results of the study generalisable to the population that the authors claim they're generalisable to? For example, the results may not be true for the entire population if only cisgender men between the ages of 30 and 40 were tested. Sampling biases can also affect generalisability—if I surveyed my college to try to find out the percentage of women in the total population, you might ask "but is your college sure to have the same percentage of women as the Earth does?"
Statistics
Are the results statistically significant, or are they within expected margins of error?
Many studies provide a p-value (a number between 0 and 1) for their results. In theory, a p-value represents the chance that the study's results could have been achieved by random chance. If you flip a coin ten times (so, your sample size is 10), it's not very odd to get heads six times and tails four times, and you wouldn't accept that as proof that the coin lands on heads more often than tails. The p-value for that result would be high (that is, there's a high chance that the coin appears unfair only because of random chance). On the other hand, if you flip a coin 100,000 times and it lands on heads 60,000 of those times, that's much better evidence that the coin is not a fair one. The p-value would be much lower. Typically, a p-value lower than 0.05 is considered statistically significant.
In practice, there's more than one way to calculate p-values, and so studies sometimes claim p-values that seem absurdly low. A low p-value is not proof of a claim in and of itself. Check to make sure that the authors of the paper also provide the raw data, and not just the p-values; this indicates a concern with other people being able to independently evaluate their results, rather than just trying to get The Best Numbers.
Citations
If the study cites something that seems foundational to their claims or interpretation, try tracing it back to the paper that was cited. Does the source actually claim what the authors of the first study said it did? Does the source provide proof or support for the claim, or does it seem flimsy, like a "common-sense" assumption?
Replication
Check the studies that cite the one you're currently looking at. Has anyone else tried to replicate the study? What were their results?
What if I really, really don't want to read scientific studies?
That's fine. Not everyone is concerned enough with specific scientific questions for regularly reading scientific papers to be reasonable for them. Just keep in mind that not everything in a scientific journal is necessarily true; that profit motives and personal and institutional bias impact results (e.g. when some studies revealed a lack of poor health outcomes for "obesity," and many scientists responded by calling it a "paradox" that needed to be "solved"); and that pop science and journalistic reporting on science are subject to distortions from the same sources.
Try finding commentators on scientific matters whose output you like, and evaluate their writing the same way you would evaluate any other critical writing.

By now, a majority of Autism researchers and clinicians are aware that the existing assessments for Autism are profoundly flawed.
They know the standard evaluation of Autism is sexist, with assessors excluding women for reasons like wearing makeup, having a boyfriend, being superficially polite, or not being fixated on suitably ‘masculine’ topics like ancient Roman history or barometric pressure.
They know Autism evaluations are racist, deeming Black Autistics “oppositionally defiant” or even “borderline” rather than acknowledging any social alienation or sensory pain they’re experiencing, and believing they must be overstating the difficulty they face in moving through the world.
And they certainly know that conventional Autism measures weren’t designed with adult Autistics in mind. Many of us are still asked to make up stories based on paintings of frogs in a toddler’s picture book, when we sit down for assessments at age 20, or 30, or 45 — because all the evaluation methods were written for young kids.
The data has already proven the far-reaching consequences of using such shoddy measures of Autism. People of color, gender minorities, older adults, and women are diagnosed at later ages, and also go undiagnosed at massive rates.
A growing population of scientists are admittedly interested in fostering a new literature of what they call “patient-driven” Autism research, but they never stop thinking of us as mere patients, the passive receivers of care rather than the leaders of communities and political movements who are the ought to be the primary authors of the studies about us, and the sole determinants of what our desired outcomes should be. Even when they observe that their work could benefit from a greater Autistic perspective, researchers do so from closed rooms, filled with other professionals who are largely not Autistic, wondering amongst themselves what it is that we want instead of learning to quiet their voices and follow our lead.
Though many basically well-intentioned Autism researchers believe that Autism assessments need reform, what neurodiversity really needs is to abandon the diagnostic process altogether. If Autism is a benign, neutral, naturally occurring form of human difference that requires acceptance rather than a cure, then there’s no need to diagnose it as if it were a sickness. And if hundreds of thousands of Autistic women, people of color, queer people, and older people have been able to give a voice to ourselves and find one another without having ever been given a label by a professional, then improved professional labeling is not what we need.
Autistic self-realization is the future of Autism assessment. We hold the collective wisdom, organizing ability, insight, and political power to define who we are. No authority figure should have to sign off on our identities.
Because psychiatrists fail to diagnose such a large percentage of the Autistic population, many Autism researchers now accept self-identified Autistic adults within their subject pool. Within the peer-reviewed journal Autism in Adulthood, self-realized Autistics often make up the bulk of the participant sample, and they have repeatedly been found to be indistinguishable from their formally diagnosed peers.
A growing body of research now also considers the presence of Autism-spectrum traits as qualifying for inclusion in many Autism studies. The data makes it quite obvious that Autistic people exist within all human groups, spread all throughout the world, and that a great many people have experiences in common with us who have not been formally diagnosed. This itself reveals that a formal diagnosis is hardly necessary, and that a psychiatric paradigm of accepting self-identification is inevitable. The researchers are increasingly already doing it.

I have an idea for a fic!!
Reader who's a scientist and she loses her kid into the forest but that one delicious man, aka neteyam, finds the kid and can't help but pity them
⟢ A Miracle ⟢
⟢ Part 1 ⟢
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
⟢ Pairing: Neteyam x fem scientist reader ⟢
⟢ Part 2 Here ⟢
⟢ Summary: While taking some notes in the forest with your daughter, she wanders off till a certain na’vi man finds her.
⟢ Warnings: None really besides reader being worried for her daughter.
⟢ Word count: 409 ⟢
⟢ Translation(s): Ngati zola‘u yuey -> Your welcome beautiful.
⟢ A/N: I know it’s short but I hope this was ok😭
Tumblr media
To say your daughter was a curious little thing would be an understatement, she loved pandora, almost as much as you did. Unfortunately for her she never really got to go out since no one would take her.
That is until you decided maybe it was time but only if she would promise to behave and stay close to you. Naturally your daughter agreed, how could she ever pass up the chance to actually go and see pandora?
Tumblr media
"I mean it lily, do not go off on your own" it was a soft command but you needed to make sure she understood. The girl nodded giggling "Yes mama."
Sighing, you began to collect some samples and data while occasionally looking behind you to check on your daughter. So far so good, she's actually listening.
Or not.
While you were distracted with your work, Lily became bored and decided to get up and wander around. Forgetting about the dangers that lurk around the corner.
Tumblr media
Neteyam was out on his usual patrol when small sobs pricked at his ears. Curious, he followed them till he found himself in a small clearing with a human child.
This was strange, what could a small human be doing all the way out here?
Silently he moved closer till crouching down beside the small human "Are you alright?" He asked softly. Lily wiped her tears away before looking up at the tall na'vi.
"I lost my mama" she sniffled,"She told me not to move but I didn't listen.." Neteyam felt pity for this small child, it would explain those shouts he heard eariler though.
Standing up, Neteyam leaned down before picking the child up in his arms. The little girl squeaked, though her attention quickly turned to the swinging braids that fell over his shoulders.
Tumblr media
You were searching frantically around the forest, calling your daughters name. It had been atleast two hours since she walked off and you still haven't found her.
Soon a squeak along with a deep chuckle caught your attention, turning around your met with a handsome na'vi and your daughter who's tugging at his braids.
"I assume this one is yours?" Neteyam asked, carefully handing the small child to you. Lily immediately clung onto you while whispering how sorry she was for walking off.
You held your daughter closely, tears threatening to fall from your eyes. "She is, thank you so much.." you spoke softly.
Neteyam smiled "Ngati zola'u yuey."

I did a similar poll a while ago but I’m doing it again and narrowing it down to the most popular picks from the last poll. Also, these are just full-time careers. I do love him being a marine life rescuer and a rescue diver, but those are more on-the-side jobs/volunteer things.
If you think it’s something else not listed below, select the option that you like the most and then comment your other idea!

In a conversation with Civil Eats, lead author Jason Hawes, a Ph.D. student at the University of Michigan, said this his team compiled “the largest data set that we know of” on urban farming. It included 73 urban farms, community gardens, and individual garden sites in Europe and the United States. At each of those sites, the research team worked with farmers and gardeners to collect data on the infrastructure, daily supplies used, irrigation, harvest amounts, and social goods. That data was then used to calculate the carbon emissions embodied in the production of food at each site and those emissions were compared to carbon emissions of the same foods produced at “conventional” farms. Overall, they found greenhouse gas emissions were six times higher at the urban sites—and that’s the conclusion the study led with. But not only is 73 a tiny number compared to the data that exists on conventional production agriculture, said Omanjana Goswami, an interdisciplinary scientist at the Union of Concerned Scientists (UCS), but lumping community gardens in with urban farms set up for commercial production and then comparing that to a rural system that has been highly tuned and financed for commercial production for centuries doesn’t make sense. “It’s almost like comparing apples to oranges,” she said. “The community garden is not set up to maximize production.” In fact, the sample set was heavily tilted toward community and individual gardens and away from urban farms. In New York City, for example, the only U.S. city represented, seven community gardens run by AmeriCorps were included. Brooklyn Grange’s massive rooftop farms—which on a few acres produce more than 100,000 pounds of produce for markets, wholesale buyers, CSAs, and the city’s largest convention center each year—were not. And what the study found was that when the small group of urban farms were disaggregated from the gardens, those farms were “statistically indistinguishable from conventional farms” on emissions. Aside from one high-emission outlier, the urban farms were carbon-competitive.

Part one
The Villain's brow pinches together as they overlook the data they've managed to acquire so far. Nothing made sense, they've run every test they could think of to try and discover what it was that gave the Hero their regenerative abilities, to no avail.
They almost feel bad about the poking and prodding they've had to do, one blood draw after another, tissue sampling, and more. At the very least, Hero has stopped fighting them as much these past few weeks, making their work easier.
Villain turns back to where Hero sits on the exam table, their eyes adverted, seemingly focused on some spot in the corner of the room. They gently, but firmly, grab Hero by the chin and turn their head upwards.
"Open up." The Villain's voice is quiet as they grab a new swab. "I'm going to need some more of your buccal cells."
Hero doesn't resist their hold, but speaks up in the same unserious tone they always maintain. "Use normal people words, say cheek." They always seem to have some teasing thing to say to Villain, though it mostly lacks any bite. Villain assumes this is Hero's way of maintaining some sense of control in this environment, and it's not like they mind the chatter regardless.
"If you think buccal is a complex word, I'm afraid you really aren't much more than a pretty face," Villain's tone isn't serious either, as their fingers press into Hero's jaw slightly more. "Now open up."
Hero obeys without any sass now, parting their lips so Villain can swab the inside of their mouth. Villain doesn't miss the way they lean into their touch, Hero relaxing into their hold. It's a stark contrast to how things were the first few weeks here when Villain could hardly approach Hero without getting bitten or hit. Most of the early testing from those days had to be done with Hero restrained.
Now, Hero leans into them constantly, as if they're craving another person's touch. They maintain eye contact as Villain presses close, the whole situation feeling oddly intimate. Hero's skin feels almost addictingly warm, even through the Villain's cold gloves.
Pulling away and placing the swab tip into an opened tube, Villain turns away from them, hoping to show not too much emotion on their face.
They know how touch-starved and desperate for human contact Hero is, and by God they would love to indulge them, but they want to maintain at least some sort of professionalism here, despite how deeply unethical this entire thing is. Or perhaps because of how deeply unethical it is. One less sin counted against them. To tell themselves at the very least, they're not taking advantage of Hero's loneliness while in their captivity.
They look to Hero again though as they set the test tube down, and find their will slowly chipping away, as Hero watches them with those lovely eyes that make Villain want to keep them forever.
Villain sighs, taking their gloves off and approaching them again. "You make it so difficult." Villain's cold hand comes to caress their jaw, as Hero looks at them, slightly confused by their words.
"What do you mean?" They ask as Villain's thumb goes to trace their bottom lip lightly.
"I don't know how I'm supposed to let you go when this is all said and done," Their hand wraps around to their neck, sliding through Hero's hair. "Even when I've gotten what I first stole you away for, I don't think I'll ever be quite done with you."
Villain leans forward, their lips just barely hovering above Hero's. There is no mistaking the burning fire in Villain's eyes. They seem to consider their next action for a moment before pulling away hesitantly, letting go.
They clear their throat, putting back up that wall of untouchable professionalism. "That's all for now. I'll come to collect you later for another blood draw."

There's a lot this article touches on, but the parts about fossil preparation are kind of in poor taste. I'll go over some of it under the cut.
Tumblr media
There's a reason we usually don't publish on things we prepare. They say it right here - we can literally, whether purposeful or accidental, modify fossils as we see fit. We could imitate pathologies or create marks with air scribes or picks that are misinterpreted as pathologies, remove or obscure parts of a fossil that may be diagnostic, etc. (Of course we don't endear to do these things, they're just possible).
Whether through inexperience or poor dexterity some budding preparators can cause damage that only someone with a trained eye could notice. Preparators aren't always required to be trained in the sciences or have thorough anatomical knowledge, and thus can reconstruct things wrong, without scientific guidance. Like filling holes where there's supposed to be… holes! Like a fenestrum or foramen, for example. This is why we have references, but more importantly, we do the minimum unless instructed to do otherwise by a supervisor or exhibits team - one of a few scenarios where a curator can rightfully step in.
Tumblr media
This is why we're trained to preserve almost any bone we see. Often there are small isolated bone chunks hovering in matrix that are thrown in a box with the specimen. A lot of pieces can't be reattached because they're too weathered or of indeterminate origins (“IBF’s” for short).
"Creating" something "artistic" is another way of implying we're making it up as we go.
Tumblr media
If someone hands me a fossil and tells me to look at this "multimedia sculpture", I'd be confused. It's a fossil, not an art project.
Academic fossil preparation is fundamentally a scientific endeavor that also requires artistic abilities, but not creativity. We use various methods that are tried and true (and sometimes experiment with new ones) to expose an element from matrix.
The act of preparing a fossil is not providing new data. The fossil itself is the data. We just make it available. That being said, if we provide measurements, take and analyze samples of the matrix for various analyses, then that's providing valuable data. Would that warrant an authorship? Maybe.
This raises another question though. If anyone who worked on a fossil gets an authorship, then can authorship compound?
The person who found the fossil but didn't do anything with it afterwards - just dug it up and sent it to the lab, for example. Do they get to be an author? On our field crews we have up to 30 people over the whole season. 30 coauthors and 99% of them are not scientists.
The collections manager who just painted a number on it, catalogued it, and put it away?
How about the curator who allowed a researcher access to the collection who didn't collect any data but just answered some emails and opened the drawer for it to be studied?
The land owner who gave you permission to dig?
Finally, the preparator who just exposed it from the rock. They do more science inherently than the others, but if no parts of the scientific method were conducted and no data was produced (save for the fossil simply being brought back into the world), do they get an authorship?
tl;dr We don't need authorships for the act of preparing fossils unless we provide data and go through the scientific process (like what's usually required for any authorship). Many parts of the process is not science. Just acknowledge our work in your paper and we'll be more than happy.

Tumblr media
˚◞❀˳ In an effort to find a way to control the powers that he found more of a curse than a blessing, the scientist part of him urged him to tamper with things he probably shouldn’t have. Miguel knew first-hand what a symbiote was capable of. If not for his own personal experiences with the slimy bastards, then from observing the canon events of other Spider-People.
˚◞❀˳ But he was desperate. Especially when you, one of his most trusted scientists, started tampering with the alien creature yourself. However, after you threw out the project and deemed it ‘far too dangerous’, he collected the data behind your back along with the samples and set to work.
˚◞❀˳ You had started to notice Miguel growing increasingly tired. While he wasn’t the most energetic in personality, he seemed far more exhausted than usual. Also far more busy. Yet whenever you, being the wonderful lover that you were, expressed your concern to him, he’d immediately shut you down. Now, you were accustomed to Miguel’s mood swings, but this felt different. Very different.
“You don’t look fine.’’
“Then stop looking.’’
His little snap clenches your heart and while his irritation grew with every second into this useless bicker, he took notice. With an exhale his tense, built shoulders roll back before he murmurs with a softer tone.
“Amor, what else can I do to convince you? You’ve clearly made your own deduction.’’
“Well it’s just —”
His annoyed sigh bleeding into the already tense air of the room stops you dead in your tracks, so you press your lips together and straighten your spine. Clipboard full of notes and ongoing projects pulled to your chest as your gaze lands on the man who barely spares you a glance. His back is to you, his front illuminated by the yellow and orange pouring from the screens that surround him daily. His towering form casts a shadow over your stiff body and suddenly — you feel tiny in the obvious presence of his exasperation.
“. . . I’m just worried, Mig,’’ your attempt is met with a crimson stare over his broad shoulder, followed by a few grumbles in his mother-tongue, before he turns back to the virtual screens. “Well,’’ he starts with a sigh. “That’s an issue on your part. I’m fine.’’
The last thing you anticipated was the cold shoulder. Alas, he gave you nothing else and simply excused you from his office. You knew that your boyfriend was cold, but what the hell was that?
˚◞❀˳ It should be harmless, is what he thinks. He’s strong-willed enough, he tells himself. Days turn into weeks of tampering with the symbiote, and just when he thinks he’s cracked the code. Tamed the monster. He is quickly reminded that the true beast is his own ambition.
˚◞❀˳ Bonding with the symbiote was an experience, to say the least. Turns out that Miguel’s tinkering with the alien didn’t put it in the best of moods. But when it was all over? He felt something that he hadn’t felt in awhile in regards to himself. . . control.
˚◞❀˳ Symbiotes feed on adrenaline — and with Miguel’s day-to-day life? It’s needless to say that the alien got more than its full. More than enough to keep it satisfied.
˚◞❀˳ It definitely took some getting used to. With this newfound power and not to mention the second voice beside his conscience. Hiding this new change from you was the hardest part. Nevertheless, he was certain that he had tamed the creature. For the most part, it heeded his command and backed down — but there was just one thing. A blaring hole in his supposed ‘perfect plan.’ Anger.
˚◞❀˳ While yes the symbiote did get its fill with his constant intake of adrenaline, Miguel’s anger was something that particularly stimulated it. This made the rage he so desperately tried to control only grow worse as the days went on. He was more irritable, snappy, and not to mention prone to going off at the smallest of things. Something that you immediately picked up on.
˚◞❀˳ In fact, the odd behaviour of your boyfriend is something that you have been noting and recording for weeks. He’s growing distant. Taking up more missions than usual, barely coming home. And above all; when he did find himself in your presence, you had taken notice of the newfound possessiveness that plagued him. All you did was give a polite, obviously awkward smile towards a waiter flirting with you on one of your rare dates — and it was enough to set him off. An argument in the car that led back to your apartment. One that resulted in him sleeping on the couch.
˚◞❀˳ While you have dealt with a jealous Miguel on more than one occasion, those situations were more amusing than anything else. This? This was abnormal. Something was wrong — and you didn’t care how much he attempted to tell you otherwise. You needed to get to the bottom of this, one way or another.
˚◞❀˳ Yet similarly to last time, Miguel denies that there is a problem to begin with. Every one of your advances was met with indifference, the cold shoulder and sometimes even a bit of an irritated snap on his end. It felt as though your relationship with your once beloved boyfriend was dwindling. Threatening to break with one wrong move.
˚◞❀˳ Lying to you was something that tore Miguel up from the inside out. With his new friend at the back of his mind and stimulating every ounce of annoyance, he felt as though he himself was walking on eggshells. He wasn’t sure how much longer he could keep this from you — the growing distance was killing him. He tried to tell you, is what he reasons with. Numerous times. But the man who usually teamed with pride and confidence backed away at every chance he had. In time, he tells himself. He’d tell you in time.
˚◞❀˳ Unfortunately for him, the day when everything would be revealed came sooner rather than later when an attack on your lab drove Miguel into a fight-or-flight state. The last thing on his mind was keeping the symbiote hidden, not when your life was on the line.
If your eyes weren’t brimming with fear before, they were pouring with terror now. You have always felt safe in the strong arms of your beloved, but right now? You lay petrified.
The sight of blackened tendrils protruding from the blue and red nanotech of his suit, shooting out in multiple directions to throw goons away from the two of you. . . it was an image that you wish you could pry out of your very eyes.
Typically clawed hands now donned smears of ebony. Making them sharper, deadlier — and yet one of those hands still cradled your head to his chest with such tenderness. While the other had disappeared into darkness. An arm extended to shoot out a myriad of dark tendrils. Something that you could only describe as a horror show.
His breathing heavy. His eyes clouded over with crimson, no pupils nor irises in sight. For a moment you even considered the possibility that you were trapped in a nightmare — but when he looked down at you? When those abnormal, terrifying eyes softened into something only you could recognise? Your heart sank into the pit of your stomach.
“Amor. .  .’’
There it is.
“I —’’ His voice is thick and the crimson bleeds out into white as his gaze takes on a more humane form. One that you know and love.
“M-Miguel,’’ the choke of his name on your lips could break his heart, if not for the look of fear plastered on your face. Yet all is eased when, despite your shaky hands, you reach out and touch his face half-stained with the monstrous creature. A delicate touch that stutters his breathing as he leans into your palm.
“What. . .  have you done to yourself?”
˚◞❀˳ Needless to say you were the furthest thing from pleased upon discovering the reason for Miguel’s new parasite — or Thorn, as it keeps insisting. The mere fact that he went behind your back and picked up the project you threw out after explicitly telling him that it was dangerous. . . it was a breach of trust that he would certainly have to earn back.
˚◞❀˳ Furthermore, while you wouldn’t say it to his face: a part of you was frigheted by this change in him. Both of you were well aware of the dangers that this creature can bring. You’ve seen first-hand how it amplified Miguel’s anger. What worried you was the possibility of this thing putting a strain on your already dwindling relationship — something that he assured you he would not allow to happen as he worked tirelessly through the coming months to control this mind-bonding alien. But he pulled through and impressed you, as he always has and always will.
˚◞❀˳ You actually grew to quite like Thorn. It didn’t talk much like other symbiotes and honestly? With Miguel feeding it its much-needed adrenaline in ample amounts, it wasn’t one to throw a fit in a hurry. If anything, it aided your boyfriend in numerous ways: on the battlefield, in everyday life. . . fucking your poor little cunt sore.
˚◞❀˳ What? After Miguel established a decent control over the creature he wasn’t entirely opposed to the idea of pleasuring you with his new. . . additions. He loves the way that you lay there, sprawled out for him as he pulls your thighs apart by two thick tendrils while another pair holds your wrists down. How you arch and thrash as his cock pounds you full, unable to squirm or writhe away from him. Being made to lie there and take it as he uses his new limbs to caress, touch and grope whatever he can. All that is his.
˚◞❀˳ Overstimulation becomes a staple for you. While Miguel was wild before the symbiote and often left you breathless, now he has all the means to absolutely ruin you. He’s a man who likes control, especially in the bedroom. And to see you all helpless while you babble out his name, whine for him, plead for him. It’s a rush he’ll never get over.
“Dios, look at you.’’
You try to muster a whimper of his name but are cut off by another firm thrust against that sensitive bundle of nerves. All that falls from your lips are babbles followed by the straining of your limbs against dark tendrils. Your back arches, tits jutting out with a sudden jerk of your body — which motivates smaller appendages to circle around your perked nipples. Pinching and tweaking at the sensitive flesh. Another joins to tend to your clit, eager to have you clenching and cumming all over him for the umpteenth time.
“M-Miguel —’’ a desperate wheeze couples with teary eyes. “Too much baby, pl-please. . .” Another slap of his hips to the back of your thighs leaves you gasping, especially when a rough hand encircles your jaw and pushes your head back into a pillow.
If it was not the towering form of boyfriend perfectly caging and forcing you into the mattress then it was the slew of brutal thrusts he delivered to your poor, throbbing cunt. Fucking out more slick that he had once pumped you full of. It trickles down your slit straining around his cock, dripping into a messy puddle below. In response you squirm, attempting to push your thighs together on instinct.
“Creo que no, mi vida. You’re gonna give me one more.”
Tentacle-like structures tighten and yank your thighs apart. Your punishment comes in the form of Miguel slamming his hips forward and dishing out shallow, quick thrusts that insinuated the wet, lewd noises of your sopping heat. As you splutter and whine for him, he brings his lips to your ear. “This pretty pussy’s all mine, don’t keep it from me.’’ His voice thick with grunts and groans of pleasure murmurs against your ear as his fingers tighten around your jaw.
He parts to press a wet kiss to your lips. Swallowing your moans with every feverish buck of his hips. “Eyes on me, hermosa,’’ his hand retracts in exchange for another tendril that so perfectly wraps around your jaw, pulling you to face him as he fucks you into the mattress. He purposefully fucks into that darling spot that has you spluttering and crying until you finally draw your teary, puffy-eyed gaze to him. Pretty red marks litter the backs of your thighs and his large hand joins the mix, grabbing onto the supple flesh and squeezing it between his rough fingers.
“There we go. Eyes on me while I stuff you full. . . mm, that’s it pretty,’’ you’re met with his face directly over yours. Thick brows furrowed, jaw tense and lips parting in small moans as he drives into you at an angle and pace that leaves both of your knees weak. “Eyes on me while you — fuck mm. .  . — cum all pretty f’me again.’’
˚◞❀˳ Do you know what else changed about him after his bonding with the symbiote? His tongue. Miguel’s able to elongate it at will, and while it was initially a quirk he didn’t exactly fancy — the moment he had the idea of using it in the bedroom he folded.
˚◞❀˳ He already loved getting between your legs and eating you out until you were clinging to his hair, bucking into his face and whining out his name so prettily. He could stay down there for hours if it meant feeling your pretty cunt fluttering against him. Or the way you couldn’t decide between pressing him closer or pushing him away. Now that he had an extra appendage to make your eyes practically roll back into your head, there was no way he wasn’t going to abuse it.
˚◞❀˳ He’d hold you down with those strong arms of his as he normally would. Forcing you to take everything that he gives you. As he fucks you on his tongue and makes you cream yourself until you’re breathless. He could reach the spots that drove you wild. Milking orgasm after orgasm while you lay there helpless.
Calloused fingers press down into your soft thighs, massaging the blushing flesh from his once-in-awhile spanks. Face pressed between your legs. Lewd noises pouring from both your cunt and his lips as he feasts on you like a man starved.
With a hand in his curls and another clinging to the sheets, your teary eyes fix onto the ceiling. Your chest rises and falls in shaky intervals, fingers coiling further into his hair every time his mouth clamps down and hastily sucks on your little clit. “Mig —’’ you whine, palm pushing his face closer to the mess of cum and slick pouring between your thighs. He gladly accepts the invitation with arms hooking around your thighs and flushing them against the mattress. “M-Mig — Miggy, please,’’ you splutter after feeling a knot quickly tightening in your abdomen.
“Gon’ cum for me again, baby?” He slurs against your puffy clit. A crimson gaze swipes up and he looks upon you through hooded eyes and thick lashes. “Haven’t y’creamed on. . . m’ tongue enough? Fuckin’ slut.”
You barely have the means to respond before your spine’s arching and you’re scrambling for his hair. A pathetic moan splutters as you crumble to the feeling of his tongue. Elongated and skilled as he pushes it past your sopping folds without a care — his eyes fluttering from your sweet taste as he fucks you on it. Messily, carelessly, and most of all, unafraid to release his deep, pussy-drunk groans as his lips lock around your slit. Nose flushed against your clit. Breathing heavy against your cunt.
The feel of his tongue thrusting, curling and nudging against every perfect spot has you seeing stars. And every time you attempt to squirm away or beg for a break, Miguel merely flexes his strong arms against your thighs, shoves them down and buries his face deeper. All with a warning, fucked-out look in that deep red gaze of his.
He’d nearly roll his own eyes back when you clench and cream yourself on his unrelenting tongue. His hips mimicking your weak bucks with his own pathetic grinds into the edge of the bed. All while he rides out your third, fourth — fifth orgasm. Pulling away only to suckle on your needy little clit and watch as you push and claw at his head. Muttering out his name. Spluttering quiet Miggy please‘s and baby s’too much’s.
His tongue, now far longer and abnormal, coats in your slick. Dripping both your arousal and his own saliva onto the sheets. He greedily sucks it back into his mouth, savouring your addictive taste with a quiet: “So fucking sweet, pretty.’’ Before he’s diving in to make you squirm again. Eager to fuck out as many orgasms as he can with that devilish tongue of his.
˚◞❀˳ And of course, what could would all those new tentacles be if he couldn’t fuck you with them? Between tying you down, restraining every one of your limbs and spreading you out with them, he also loves watching the way you stretch and squirm on one of his tendrils.
˚◞❀˳ He will absolutely consume each and every one of your senses. Overstimulate you with finer tentacles against your clit and nipples. Pry your vision away with one creating a makeshift blindfold over your eyes. And most of all — get you using that pretty little voice of yours with one pounding relentlessly into your weeping cunt.
˚◞❀˳ He would typically use these methods if you’re being particularly bratty. It’s a wonderful way to get some of his work done and tend to you at the same time. Especially when he threatens to deny your release if you make too much noise while he ‘has to focus.’
˚◞❀˳ Double penetration is another fan favourite of Miguel’s. Whether it be fucking you from behind and allowing a tentacle to tend to your cunt or vice versa — he loves stuffing you full of him. Loves how he can drive you to a state of utter bliss. Where all you can do is mutter out broken syllables of his name and whine for a break.
˚◞❀˳ At the end of the day, while this symbiote also provides great benefits to him out on the battlefield; it also gave him new means to reduce you to a cum-dripping, mind-numbed slut for him. What better use of his new powers and abilities than to enhance his favourite indulgence with you? Overstimulation.

Danganronpa Ultimate Categorization
Welcome back to another episode of: Jade is a nerd about something absolutely useless! Today's topic: Talent classification in Danganronpa/Fangans.
In the process of making my own fangan/s, I've created a classification system for the types of talents you can give characters. These classifications are...
Arts: Talents that are involved in the visual arts, performing arts, or fashion. Encompasses performers of all types, any type of visual artist, or anyone involved in fashion. (Ex. Actor, Abstract Artist, Model)
Practical: Talents that focus on a specialized skill or work with your hands. Also includes any talents that are religious or spiritual in nature. (Ex. Mechanical Engineer, Detective, Shrine Maiden)
Academic: Talents that are recognized by how much knowledge or experience a character has in an academic field. Covers most science, literature, math, and research based talents. (Ex. Chemist, Theologian, Archaeologist)
Sports: Talents relating to athletic skill. (Ex. Footballer, Kickboxer, Bowler)
Novelty: Talents given to a person who is special simply by existing. Can also be given to characters who win a contest for their talent. Includes Lucky/Unlucky Students, royalty, and non-human characters. (Ex. Lucky Student, Student, Princess)
This system of classification was based on my experience in the community over about three or four years, seeing many other people's original characters as well as creating my own. I found many fell into these categories. My "perfect" ratio, which my friends and I used as a guideline for making our fangan casts, is 4 arts : 4 practical : 4 academic : 2 sports: 2 novelty. I felt this ratio kept things even and grounded.
A few months ago, I began to wonder if my "perfect" ratio was more of my own creation than an actual pattern I saw. I thought, in the event it was, that I would come up with a mathematically accurate ratio that better represented the talent distribution of Danganronpa and its fan projects. This was my attempt at doing just that.
Data Collection
For this, I tried to collect as varied of a sample as possible. I included the three mainline Danganronpa games and sixteen fangans, ranging from very popular ones to very obscure ones. The fangans sampled for this analysis were...
Danganronpa Another
Super Danganronpa Another 2
Danganronpa Despair Time
Brave Danganronpa Coward's Paradise
Project Eden's Garden
Danganronpa He(art)less Deceit
Danganronpa Hushed Whispers
Danganronpa Muave
Danganronpa Despair's Revival
Danganronpa Re:Birth
Danganronpa Twisted Truths
Danganronpa Survivor's Guilt
Danganronpa Despair's Flame (my fangan! also the one where the talent ratio originated)
Danganronpa Cyberspace
Danganronpa Akeda Amusements
Danganronpa Lost Paradise (my other fangan that isn't released anywhere but I'm counting anyway)
I figured out the talent ratio for each individual game by looking through their casts and sorting them with my classification system. Ultimate ???'s were thrown out if possible (such as in the case of Akeda Amusements, where Hanari was thrown out due to the fangan having seventeen participants) and if not, they were counted as novelty.
Also, shout out to Yuki Maeda and Teruya Ōtori for managing to count for two different data sets despite my best efforts at finagling a way to keep them confined to one.
Observations
Tumblr media
The first thing I noticed in looking at the ratios for canon Danganronpa was that Academic ultimates are underrepresented compared to what I initially remembered. It had been a while since I revisited the mainline games, and it was a shock to be reminded of that. I was also reminded, but not quite as shocked by the greater emphasis on practical ultimates.
In fangans, the focus on practical ultimates continues to be heavy, with none having less than two. There was also less focus on sports ultimates, with the majority having only one or two compared to the three that the mainline games had a majority of the time. They also tend to have more academic ultimates.
I think that this could be explained by looking at the types of people who make fangans. The majority of people I know who make fangans have very particular knowledge about certain fields due to experience or heavy research, and more often than not these fields do not include sports. They are more likely to make characters based on their experiences and knowledge that they can then insert into the story to make it seem more authentic.
I also, unsurprisingly, found that my "perfect" ratio was not reflected in many of the fangans I looked at. There was only one besides my own that followed that ratio.
Tumblr media
Now, if my "perfect" ratio is not the mathematically perfect ratio, then what is?
According to the data collected for the canon games, this is.
Tumblr media
This just so happens to also be the ratio for Trigger Happy Havoc.
According to the data collected from the fangans, this is the perfect ratio.
Tumblr media
The only fangan that followed this ratio exactly was Akeda Amusements. V3 also had this distribution.
When considering both mainline and fan made games, the perfect ratio was this.
Tumblr media
Ironically, not a single mainline game or fan game followed this ratio.
Out of curiosity, I also calculated the standard deviation for each data set.
Tumblr media
Canon Danganronpa has little to no variation, conveying that talent ratios are quite consistent between games. The biggest variation would be in the novelty category, making sense as V3 scaled down the amount of novelty ultimates compared to the other two games.
Tumblr media
The fangans are shown to have a much larger variation. Though I can't be surprised by this, as perhaps it is an unfair comparison. The mainline Danganronpa games were written by mostly the same team and had less to sample from, while the fangans have not only a larger sample size in which to deviate, but many different writers that think differently about talent distribution.
Final Thoughts
In putting this all together, I found that my classification system, while not perfect in any sense of the word, has some validity to it. If I wanted to, I could definitely make some improvements to it (especially in distinguishing between certain academic and practical fields from novelty), but as of now it works perfectly fine as an aide in cast creation for me.
My ratio is also not perfect, which was an expected outcome. Really none of the ratios I found are perfect, with none of them representing more than one or two of any mainline or fan made game. While ratios like the ones I found can be good for making sure you have a balanced distribution of talents, they aren't required to make a good cast. Personally, I'll continue using my personal "perfect" ratio as a baseline for any cast I make in the future.
I also had a lot of fun making this, and hope I can find a way to make more posts like this in the future. Thank you for reading this.
