stupid poop crown post got me thinking, what is your headcannon about Magolor’s experience with the crown anyways? or does the fic pretty much summarize it?
Love that “stupid poop crown post got me thinking” is a series of words that have been said now. Language is a weapon and in a collective sense we are simultaneously very good at using it and very unskilled with it.
Anyways, I’d say the fic doesn’t really summarize it much at all, aside from the few explicit details given about what happened. Part of what made it so unnerving and traumatic for Magolor is the simple fact that, during his power trip, he didn’t realize anything was wrong. There was no second voice in his head telling him what to do, there was no immediate forceful possession; the switch from his goal being taking over Halcandra to being world domination just felt natural— indistinguishable from any other time he’d changed his mind about something. The Crown was able to manipulate him so easily, convinced him that its desires were his own, gave no indication that it was anything more than a power source. Sure, his head hurt where it dug its claws in, and not being able to easily take it off was certainly not ideal, but that’s just bad artifact design, not an obvious sign of something more sinister lurking out of sight! If he had infinite power he could just make it not do that.
Only when he had been beaten a little over half to death did he notice it wasn’t just his own mind in his head, because he wanted to stop fighting and try to bargain, but his body wouldn’t listen. That was more or less the point where he realized something was very, very wrong, but the extent to which things were wrong wasn’t immediately obvious then. It was when it wrestled full control away from him that it became clear he’d fucked up immensely, but by that point it was too late for him to really fend it off; it caught him by complete surprise. All he could really do was just try to resist becoming yet another soul lost to it and hope to last long enough for his body that wasn’t really his own anymore to be incapacitated, but that hinged on the very people he’d used as pawns in his scheme being powerful enough to defeat the entity he’d unwittingly allowed to manifest.
Then of course you have the events of the Epilogue, where he was eventually greeted with the unfortunate discovery that the Crown had more or less survived and was seeking out another host. He’d been pretty scared it would try to possess him again, but in not being at full strength he was simultaneously too weak to have been able to maintain himself as a separate person and too weak to be of any interest to it. At that point it was simply operating based on what the strongest magic sources it could reach were so it could have an unbroken vessel once more. Its relation to the Crowned Doomer is very headcanon-y in that I see them as different forms of the same entity. The Master Crown is full of souls bound by corrupted soul magic, but souls in Another Dimension eventually become Doomers once enough magic binds to them, with the strength of the initially formed Doomer being decided by the strength of the soul(magic) they form from. They can become stronger by consuming other sources of magic, be it energy spheres or each other, but that’s a tangent. Point is, the Crown itself was very unstable at that point and briefly became a sort of Grand Doomer, but when Magolor brought forth the gem apple sapling, he basically handed it a very powerful source of magic that it could anchor itself to.
Thus it stabilized, turned the new host into a body more to its liking, set out to kill the one that had resisted it and survived, but was ultimately defeated* by the magic catboy. Except he kinda died of magic overexertion and his injuries afterwards, but also didn’t, and going through the portal to the Dream Kingdom therefore simultaneously did and didn’t happen. Basically, death and dreams in Another Dimension is fucking weird, and the circumstances of his death were such that he basically performed the world’s first recorded soul duplication glitch without actually knowing it. One him successfully went through the portal, which was born of his dream/desire of starting over in a new life where he could try again influenced by his knowledge and experiences, which created a branch of the timeline and the “real” Dream Kingdom. The other him ended up dying, but was found and guided by Morpho Knight, which would lead to him and Lor’s meeting as described in the fic.
*I just thought I’d have fun and emphasize this bit here for anyone keeping up with the fic, won’t elaborate on why though :) its a secret
Got very ramble-y there and probably off topic, but basically his experience with the Crown was traumatic in a different way than it is in his nightmares. What fucked him up was just that he didn’t even know it was there, he doesn’t know what thoughts were and weren’t his after he put it on, it was able to render him powerless in his own body so easily. It didn’t speak to him, it was manipulative in a manner that was so different and so much more sinister than the way another person might be. It scares him to think about it; he sees himself as someone who doesn’t fall for lies because he’s usually the liar. The Crown not only violently proved he wasn’t immune, it did so flawlessly while literally digging its talons into his head— it hurt him and yet he was willing to make excuses to keep wearing it, and he doesn’t know if those excuses were his own or it telling him what to think.
When you’ve built up your identity around knowing about ancient history and artifacts and thinking you’re a genius who can’t be lied to, and had built up your dreams around being powerful, there are few things that will shake you to your core quite like being made to see you didn’t know what you were getting into, were easily made to believe things you shouldn’t have, and could have your power stripped away by something you sought out for yourself.

Hello, Ms. Duane! We have a question for you about Young Wizards: have you ever put thought into how wizardry interacts with people in systems? For example, if one person in a system is a wizard but the others aren't, can the others access wizardry or is it only the headmate with wizardry who can do it? In the event of a system with multiple wizard headmates, if they were good enough at using the Speech, could they both cast spells at the same time? Stuff like that. We're curious now. -Hestia
The question's come up in a general way before (over here, for example).
Briefly: it behooves us to view this dynamic from the point of view of the Powers that Be.
The implementation of wizardry in the physical universe is grounded in that physicality. The Powers’ angle, therefore, is that They are bestowing wizardry on a single physical being (involving one physical body and one brain—or one mind/body complex, if you prefer that terminology) which happens to be internally mentally-organized using a system of headmates / alters. It therefore follows logically that all the headmates are at least potentially wizardly, with Speech expertise being at a similar level right across the intrapersonal spectrum. (Effectiveness at its use from headmate to headmate may be a different issue, but even nonsystemic wizards have times and situational spectra in which they're rendered less effective than usual.)
Management of wizardry inside that system is going to be something that its participants work out for themselves... ideally, probably with executive power vesting in the "host". (And I suspect that's the headmate on whom the Powers normally initially confer enacture, as the wisest option until all the headmates have time to cope with the sudden change to the system and develop their own way[s] of dealing with it.)
So there would be no question of one headmate being a wizard and one or more of the others not. Everybody in that system is potentially a wizard. The question is who has or is allowed access to the wizardry (and to the Speech), and how that access is managed or enforced. For example, headmates who are embodiment-fragments of abusive or persecutorial persons or events would probably be better kept out of wizardly and errantry-oriented pursuits, for obvious reasons. And again, how that's managed is the system's business. But this issue would, again, rightly be taken very seriously. If ill-intentioned alters were allowed by the executive/host or the rest of the system to attempt to sabotage wizardries, or to use the power to sabotage other parts of the system, they would be in danger of getting the entire system's access to the Speech pulled—possibly permanently—under the "Magic does not live in the unwilling heart" stipulation.
As for multiple alters doing spellwork at the same time: Not separate spells, no. But they could certainly work on single spells together. (Though without, as discussed in the post linked to above, any power-increase dividend. That comes from the addition to a piece of spellwork of beings homed in other physical bodies, which are where the power to fuel spells originates.)
...Thanks for the question. HTH!

who: @baashirdayne when and where: the gathering hall within hayford, prior to the noticed disappearance of lady mayya allyrion. the dornish courtiers finish up from an intimate dinner, each leaving the halls premises one by one. she is in a conversation with her brother when she notices the lord of starfall rising from his seat; they were the last three people in the room. soon two. context: following seeing lord jalabhar mooton's busted up face earlier in the day very briefly, myriam hears rumours of what has apparently happened, and spots the sword of the morning - it was time to ask upfront.
it was not rare or uncommon to hear the sounds of the lady of godsgrace's laughter bouncing from the walls in any room she stood within; most especially when she remained within the company of those she had always remained the most comfortable with. within the heart of hayford, a grand feasting hall that had dwindled in the number of their valyrian hosts and ended up being majority dornish folk, myriam allyrion had no way of knowing the darkness which occurred some passages away - and how life for house allyrion woudl change once again. at this moment, she remained seated closely beside her younger brother, listening closely to his experiences in encountering his previous lover's velaryon family; it was enough to cause her to grin, one that showed her teeth as she laughed over the rim of the goblet of her wine, almost pulling a face.
she would not say she had told him so, and yet still, never did she think there would have been an opportunity where they could have sat side by side and discussed such a matter together - not this one. it showed her that the world did go on, regardless of how much she lit it aflame in her words and in her actions; a slippery ideology nonetheless.
myriam reached forward slightly as a servant passed them by, continuing to hold goblets that would be of great convince to her: and whilst leaning forward, she almost slipped entirely out of the window seat she had comfortably nestled herself within. there was a rosy tint to her caramel kissed skin, reflecting in the burning of the hearth as the shimmer of her bindi remained in the middle of her forehead: and she reached forward to grab not one, but two extra goblets - presenting it to dastan almost as though she had secured a trophy for herself. for their house. for their parents. somewhere in the back of her mind, she wondered what her mother was doing in this very moment: the lady of godsgrace had refused to attend a summit within kings landing, going as far as to call her children deluded for doing so.
she wondered where her sister was, only for a moment though, before her thoughts became more fuzzy and hazy. she heard something about dastan knowing he should get himself to his chambers, and they kissed one another goodbye; though as she looked up, she noted another figure beginning to excuse himself from the social setting, joined with the bloodroyal of yronwood and the wyl of house wyl. how stern they all looked, myriam thought, the grin only spreading across her features more. "lord dayne!" her voice called, her mind suddenly going to something she had intended to speak to him of.
Tumblr media
her voice was light and feminine as it carried over the hall, a renement of the passion that could be easily laced into her tone: gods knew jalabhar mooton had not deserved such a fierce beating. or he did. just not in front of many people, and how it could be argued to be traced back to her. she remained stood on one spot as he looked back over at her, and she merely raised one of the goblets with a cheeky smile on her features. he looked happy among his close companions, even if he did appear ever so stern; and when the spell broke, she began wandering her way over to him, purposefully taking her time. "i heard something of you this afternoon, my lord." and then she extended him the goblet, noting the way in which he looked at her. his smile was always enough to make her feel a fool.
how long would they be able to keep this up? how long would this bubble last before it was burst most horribly? she stepped forward, closing the distance between them slightly; her voice lowering now. "where were you this morning?" she asked, the smile making it apparent on her face that she was amused. as much as she should not have been. no doubt the wine had made her flowery, and yet she would have found it most entertaining, even if she were sober. but myriam allyrion sparkled and glowed like candlelight when she was intoxicated - until she did not. until the wax burned out, and the candle snuffed out.

(sneak peek of Strike Out, chapter 7!!)
Growing up, they never understood what they were seeing, when tributes were paraded through the city streets. They just saw the costumes: shifting fabrics and jewels, crowns, antlers... They felt the energy of the crowd around them, the smiles of the announcers and hosts. The charisma of the tributes, endearing even through their occasional nervousness. Even in the capitol- a place oversaturated by neon hair, twisting eyelashes, structured gowns all in daily wear- there was something special to Capricorn about the parade, the games.
Everything changed when they turned 10.
It was the first time they watched the games for themself, the first time their parents didn't bother to make clever excuses for them to sit and play quietly. The violence. The brutality of it. Desperate and bloodied hands grasping at their murderers.
But the real monsters were those around Capricorn. Their father, their mother, their aunt. All who watched the games with mock sympathy and pity for the game's tributes... no, victims.
When Capricorn was 11, that year's games rolled on slowly past their glazed eyes. They stood hollow beside the street as tributes paraded by, which felt less like a celebration to their young, changing mind, and instead more like a conveyor belt of scraps of metal slowly being thrown into a big fire, only without the beauty of recycling.
They didn't understand. What did this do for Panem? It was... it was wrong.
As they grew older through their teen years, they didn't watch the games. They couldn't bring themself to witness the terrors the Capitol forced on innocents. What was the difference between Capricorn and any tribute? Nothing. They were all young, beautiful people. There was no reason Capricorn shouldn't be out there themself, no reason but where they were born.
They still watched the parades. The PR media storm before the games themselves. Capricorn wanted to know the people who would be sacrificed for the sake of entertainment and power.. He wanted to feel a connection to those he wept for. He wanted to hold them in his heart, right where the rest of the world would never keep them.
Capricorn was 17 when he took his first trip outside of the Capitol. He went out to district eight on a school trip, six months away from the games.
The class was there to learn about Panem's economy and the district's exports. Textiles were the productive focus of district eight. Capricorn couldn't hide their interest and affinity for textiles and design.
But still... He and his classmates would return safe and sound to their lavish homes, meanwhile two youths from this district would be killed for sport.
But shockingly, he knew the girl who would go on to survive that year. Met her, briefly. For just one moment. Capricorn was examining sample costumes and outfits on display, enamoured, when she approached him.
"Sorry- are you visiting from the Capitol?"
Capricorn turned. They looked the girl up and down. Dark skin speckled with freckles, her hair in long beautiful twists. She was dressed.. ambitiously, to say the least.
Capricorn's heart ached for her, as he had no idea... no reason to believe that she could survive the games by anything other than luck.
"I-I am," he stuttered. He held out a hand. "I'm Capricorn."
The girl lifted her brows, impressed by the fancy name seemingly. But she smiled, and she glowed like the innocent sun. She shook Capricorn's hand.
"Beatrice."

What do you think would happen if a nation gave blood or organ transplant? I like the idea that their blood/tissue would conform to the person it's given to and in some cases make them healthier (though they may get some...odd side effects, like knowing the emotions of those close by or a strange craving for the nation's favorite food). Mostly I like the idea of Arthur not drinking for a month so he can give it away, slamming himself on the operation table and saying "Let's hurry this up, I want a drink." Cause their organs will grow back so it's no big deal, just might take a few days.
.... isn’t the “organ donations can make you more similar to the donator, including taste in food” thing actually scientifically documented? not to that degree, but still. that would totally work as a headcanon.
but okay. I have tried to answer this for like an actual hour. partly because, uh, not to be super cringe, but you caught me neck-deep in a Hetalia/Vampyr crossover where the character 'Arthur' in Vampyr (who never actually appears in-game) actually refers to Arthur Kirkland. this is a problem because your ask that was supposed to be just Hetalia is now fueling this crossover.
without the crossover, I’m split between like. I really like your idea that the nations just don’t have blood types etc, and that the donated material would just conform to the host. but I also lean in the opposite direction, in that I don’t think normal human beings even could receive donations from a country? like... Arthur’s blood type is probably some immortal eldritch bullshit rather than like, type O, and receiving it would just kill most human beings. but my answer with the Vampyr crossover is that it straight up makes you temporarily immortal, which I suppose is technically compatible with “make them healthier” lol. which I’ll put under the cut because no one came here for Vampyr content. >_>
re: Vampyr. okay. I know no one asked but okay. at one point. without giving away any major spoilers for the game. at one point in Vampyr, a character who is at one point referred to as the Defender of Britain drinks the “blood of Arthur” and becomes the single most difficult boss in the entire game, bar none. mind you, his competition includes, without spoilers, vampire-werewolves and a character that is basically the male version of Lady Dimitrescu. he is 100% a mortal human being and he can still wipe the floor with all of them.
and the reason my headcanon is “Arthur’s blood makes you briefly immortal” is because upon drinking this blood, it initially doesn’t look like this character changes at all? because it doesn’t make him a vampire or anything, he just kinda seems to get like, a caffeine boost... until you do something like [checks notes] shoot him point-blank in the chest with a sawed-off shotgun or make all of the blood in his body literally boil and combust and he shrugs it off like it’s no big deal. like it’s never explicit that the blood gives brief immortality, but even with game mechanics/health making human enemies unrealistically tough, I don’t remember any of them being anywhere near “shoot him 12 times with a shotgun and make his blood explode via vampire magic” tough.
like good lord, he nearly kicked my ass on easy mode, and he’s legendary in the fandom for being an absolute fucking nightmare if you’re doing a pacifist run (ie hardest mode). and just to add insult to injury, he fights you using a medieval broadsword and a crossbow. literally everyone else, including the player, uses modern weapons and/or vampire powers, but Geoffrey "Defender of Britain” McCullum can and will kick your ass with a fucking sword, your shotgun and fancy vampire magic be damned. and I, for one, think Arthur Kirkland would be incredibly proud of him. >_>

As soon as the working part of the day was over, Grandpapa and I headed straight for the shop where Ma and Nana worked, after bidding Byardölf and Myennr goodnight. I was practically skipping; somewhere between a mace and a sword, I had made up my mind, regardless of the risks. I want this. Hel, I’d probably try to go even if Alf and Jarl didn’t want to, which I thought was safe to say that it was highly unlikely they wouldn’t want to.
The two older women walked out of the dirty, sandy doors right before we reached them. I meant to have self-control, but I just couldn’t help myself, my legs carrying me over to her before I realized what was happening. “About that competition…”
“Wow,” Came a voice, unsurprised and annoyed. I turned to see Alf leaning against the slimy corner of the building in waiting, she and her old clothes covered from head to toe in stable dust. Her work clothes once had been a simple shirt and trousers, but after two years had become a maze of sewn patches and fraying threads. I noticed a new tear in her haphazard boots, and briefly wondered how we’d fix that this time. She tossed a few strands of thick golden hair out of her face as she rebraided it. “You wasted no time with that, did you?”
Without question, Alf was in charge of us triplets, even though she was the youngest of us by a few minutes. Her shimmering golden hair fell down to her waist, and her eyes often changed from sapphire blue to a stormy gray. Whereas I was thin and frail, she was athletic and tough, her porcelain skin free of any mars or scars. Maybe she was considered the leader because of her temper, which was tough for anyone to handle when it was fired up– especially if she were challenged.
Pointedly, I locked eyes with her and held a very serious, firm expression. “No. No I could not.”
Nana slowly shook her head with amusement as she passed me to get to Grandpapa. She was the one who always remained calm, no matter the situation. I don’t think I’d ever seen her angry, even once. The End Times could come again and she’d still be sweet and perfect and calm. Her and Grandpapa were extremely close; as soon as she reached my grandfather, he warmly wrapped an arm around her shoulders and kissed the top of her ruby-haired head; these times were harder on them than the rest of us, I knew. They’d been in retirement when we were taken as thralls. They hadn’t had many days together since.
Ma raised her hands as if to brace herself for whatever pleading and begging she thought would inevitably come to pass. “I’ll think about it… I’ll give the three of you my answer in the morning.” Her sea-green eyes were full of concern, voice filled with a melancholy undertone, half-smile clearly forced– for a mother, it would be an easy choice to make. No. But we’d just turned sixteen in the middle of last winter, now considered full-fledged young adults. We could technically make our own decisions… and that was where her worry came in. She knew that we would listen to her word, but she also knew that if we really wanted to, we could leave anyway. She also didn’t want us to follow her wishes and decline to go, because then we would be miserable.
Ma had given her answer for the moment, though, so I slumped over and heaved an overly-dramatic sigh. “Fine…”
The six of us trekked back to the Skídbladnír through the eerily quiet streets of Izana; as soon as night fell, the locals always hid themselves away, leaving the city silent and empty, save for the occasional tavern here and there. Crooked dark alleyways yawned widely on either side of us, where odd sounds echoed from seemingly vacant corridors– only the homeless and rodents, but it still put us on edge. We treaded carefully through the more moonslit streets, warily looking out for anything suspicious that could end with a sword in somebody’s gut.
When we reached our ship (a much smaller version of a longship, built to be worked by only a few people), Jarnir was snoring loudly near the aft, while Jarl was trying to practice swordfighting on invisible enemies. His thrusts and swings were powerful, but the sword kept slipping or flying out of his grasp, coming dangerously close to flying off the edge of the ship, or impaling poor Jarnir in his sleep.
As soon as he saw us coming, Jarl sheathed the sword and vaulted over the edge of the ship. The rickety dock shook dangerously under the impact of his weight, rocking back and forth violently on its thin stilts in silt and mud as he bolted up to us with a huge dumb smile on his face. He was barely able to come to a halt in front of us without careening over the edge and into the dirty water lapping at the shore. “So–”
Alf interrupted him with a rough smack to his chest. “Seriously? You too, Jarl? Give her a minute, would you?”
Childishly, Jarl stuck his tongue out at her. Ma patted his arm in reassurance as she walked by him toward the ship. “I’ll give the three of you my answer in the morning.” Grandpapa and Nana watched on with worry and followed Ma around us. Maybe they’d help explain all the reasons we should go, or maybe they’d add to the accompanying reasons of why we most definitely should not. Or maybe both.
Jarl, on the other hand, reacted to Ma’s words by throwing his head back and crying out, “Oh, come on!” He went ignored, however; but not by Alf and I, who snickered at him.
“What if Ma does say yes?” Alf asked quietly after a moment. Her gold eyebrows were knit together with concern. It wasn’t like her to be so quiet; us triplets hung back as the older family members kept on a steady course for dinner. “Will we even be able to do it? We’re not the healthiest bunch.”
Jarl crossed his huge arms over his chest and considered her words for a moment. “I read the details of that flier a hundred times over. I guess Drakonsson’s got some kinda training program for people like us.” The implications, we all knew and understood. Ten years of constant stress, starvation, and less than favorable living conditions takes a serious toll on the body. We were out of shape, unable to handle much labor, exertion, or lifting something heavy, or even the simple act of going up stairs was difficult without getting winded. I doubted I’d be able to lift a sword, let alone actually swing it.
“Yeah, I read that,” Alf nodded in agreement, and I wondered why I didn’t read the details, “But even if we make it through that, what about… what if we lose? There’s no way to ask questions from here; we can’t know for sure even if there was that they won’t just haul off the rogues and pirates back to their slaveholders.”
“No,” Jarl answered, shrugging a bit, “But we should take the risk. Seeing the world, learning to fight, having adventures…” A smile slowly grew on his face as he looked out over the ocean wistfully. “Not many people get to do that. I heard the average human hardly sees anything spectacular but the Worldtrees outside of his hometown. Have any of us ever seen a gryphyn? No. What else would we see on a journey like this? Hel, we’ll get a chance to learn from Keifdel Drakonsson himself. We should do it.” His confidence– and his positive outlook on literally everything– was admirable, but annoying.
I shook my head, but it was Alf who responded. “I just don’t know if an adventure like that is worth risking getting imprisoned for the rest of our lives… or worse.” If we went back to the duke, we would surely be tortured…
Jarl only scoffed, trying to play off the threat. “Let’s follow Ma’s example: let’s think about it tomorrow.” Following him, we went back to the ship.
Tumblr media
I was dreaming of a beautiful white embrace of light.
A gentle voice was lulling me to an even deeper sleep with a song that I couldn’t understand. There was a fresh spring breeze in the air, and I could see the silhouette of a man hovering over me, though I couldn’t see his face.
However gently, I was pulled out of the dream by someone shaking my shoulder; I found myself in reality far too soon, and stared at Ma with glazed-over eyes. She hovered over me for a moment, concerned. “You alright?”
“Ma,” I croaked, trying to relieve her worry, “I had that dream again.” I’d had this dream for as long as I could remember, and quite often. Ma speculated that it’s a memory of our father.
A shadow crossed over her face, one I knew well. She always got that look when we mentioned him. It was grief, we all knew it, but I doubt I’d ever seen her cry longer than a few minutes about it. “Get up; breakfast is ready.”
Ma headed for the cooking pot at the fore of the ship without another word, and that was the end of talking about my dream. I sat up and rubbed my eyes, trying to pull myself fully from the warm embrace of sleep. After I noticed, I realized that Grandpapa, Nana, and Jarnir were nowhere in sight. Jarl leaned up against the spine of the figurehead, wolfing down his food like he thought it was going to run away. Beside him, Alf ate more slowly, reading one of the few books we owned; it merely told the ancient stories of the Old Gods. It had been a Yulemas gift– the only one we’d ever gotten– from Byardölf and Myennr last year. It had kept Alf and I from being bored so many times in the last two years; Jarl didn’t really care for it, preferring to spend his time practicing swordsmanship and exercising.
I got up at a snail’s pace and rolled up my bedroll before ambling over to join them with my eyes half-open. I tried– really, I did– to keep from asking any questions, but I couldn’t help myself. “So…” I tried desperately to sound casual, clearing my throat softly. “...About the competition…”
Ma sighed heavily and handed me my plate before I could grab it. “I’ll be thinking about it over the next three days.” My heart sank. “Whether I say yes or not, we have to go back home and pay the rent. I’ll decide then.”
Jarl shrugged, somehow entirely confident she’d say yes. Alf looked a little relieved, actually; I wasn’t sure how I felt– three days to think about it more thoroughly might knock some sense into my head, but I’d already decided.
I wanted to see the Worldtree up close and personal. I wanted to get in a rickety basket held by a gryphyn. I wanted to go to Vanaheimr, our birthplace, and see if I remembered how green and calm it was correctly. I wanted to fight a bunch of monsters in the name of glory and freedom. I wanted to meet Keifdel Drakonsson, the light elven general of the Drekivörðr and his huge gray dragon, Vedthrelta– they were my heroes. I can’t remember how many times I’d stayed up reading by a singular candle stories of their bravery, amazed that they were real and true legends come to life; and I’m living in the same age as they are!
I imagined myself meeting them– a tall elven warrior clad in red leather armor, and his massive companion who would shake the skies with a roar like thunder. My mind wandered, to far off places meeting far off people… Until Alf quite literally kicked me into the real world, jerking her head toward my plate of uneaten food pointedly.
Grandpapa, Nana, and Jarnir all returned just as we were finishing our breakfasts, carrying the coin we’d earned over the last two weeks. “We’ve got enough,” Grandpapa said, relieved, “A little more than enough, actually. Byardölf gave us a bonus.” He swung the bag off over his shoulder, heaving as it landed by his feet with a dull thud.
There was a collective turn as everyone stared at him in astonishment. It was Ma who spoke, tentatively asking, “How much of a bonus…?”
Grandpapa took from his belt a leather purse that I’d never seen before. “Two hundred coin, that’s how much.” Our excitement must have been clearly written in our expressions, because he added as he inclined his head toward us, “Looks like he wants these kids to go win a name for themselves just as much as they do. Says if we decide to go, to stop by the smithy. He’ll have a sandwalker and carriage waiting for us.”
Us triplets beamed at each other, but Ma was still undecided, worry clouding her features. I felt bad for her; if it were my children, I would respond with a firm no and leave them on Hneflagi until they came to their senses. Stiffly and silently, she took the coin and put it in the chest we kept under some boards near the aft, and she refused to say another word about it for the rest of the day.
Tumblr media
It was a three day journey from the docks of Izana to Hneflagi Island, if it was a good day. Thanks to the good weather, we made it there a little earlier than we usually did. We were met by Geirrod, who also lived here; he worked the docks half the time in return for his rent being halved. He was a burly man in iron and leather armor. His beard was long and tattered, matted with dirt– but it wasn’t nearly so bad as his hair, which had become an uncombable dreadlock, or his mangled teeth, which often fell out. Despite appearances, he was friendly, and we had never had any trouble with him. “Aye!” He called, setting down the netting he was repairing as he saw us approach. Jarl and Grandpapa hopped onto the docks to pull the Skídbladnír along, and Geirrod came forward to assist. “Welcome back!”
“It’s good to be back,” Grandpapa replied as Geirrod helped us tie the Skídbladnír down. I felt both relief and tension at being back home.
Hneflagi Island was one of the smallest, and poorest, communities of the Archipelago. Each island had a landlord, and each landlord had his rules– ours was one of the worst. He bathed in the collective coin his tennants gave him once a month, setting up strict rules: no hunting, no one’s late on their payments, no one uses this or that or goes here or there… And if anyone were to break any of these rules, it’s off to the einherjerii. A bunch of hired mercenaries will show up and drag a person off, and they’d never be seen again.
Luckily, judging by Geirrod’s cheerful attitude, he wasn’t around today. With the men taking the heaviest loads of our fresh supplies of food and water, we carried the sacks off the ship and headed inland. A short path, lined with the spare few fish that can be caught in these extremely salty waters hanging out to dry, took us right into the heart of our miniature village, surrounded on all sides by sparse, unhealthy trees. Shaped like a rectangle with one of the ends missing, the halls were set in a clearing and on a hill, overlooking the path. One of them, the end hall, was used for cooking, eating, and celebrating on holidays, while the two longer arms of the building held several small rooms separated by even smaller hallways, thin walls, and creaky doors.
There weren’t many people out today; on this island, most families worked as a whole in one Black Market or another, often leaving for months at a time before being seen again. The only people out today were Magnar and Froddur, an elderly couple who lived with their adult children; Himme, the wife of Nolmar and the mother of the two tiny children who played in the courtyard, home alone while her husband worked in the Niflian Black Market; and Agnes, a young woman who was in her final stages of pregnancy.
We nodded with quiet greetings on our way to our room, entering the little hallway single-file. Our room, like all the others, was just a ten-by-ten block. On one side of the room were seven little cubbies lined up against the wall to hold what little personal belongings we had, adjacent to seven makeshift beds made up of pelts stacked on the floor. Two haphazard frames of sticks held up thin sheets that squared off a section of the room for private changing and bathing. Closest to the doors was our icebox, concealed under the floorboards and accessible via an old iron handle.
It was a tight fit for seven people, but it beats a dank, moldy cell at the bottom of a palace.
Ma and Grandpapa dutifully counted out the eight hundred and fifty coin from what we’d earned this month, while Jarnir unloaded the meats, cheeses, and milk into our icebox; the water and bread went into a different cupboard, set alongside it. Nana left to check on Agnes, and like dogs waiting for strips of bacon, us triplets sat across from Ma and Grandpapa and waited to see what was leftover. My stomach was writhing with a combination of anxiety and excitement.  I couldn’t read Grandpapa’s expression as he sat back, once the pile was carefully separated from what was left– about three hundred coin today in total, the most we’d ever made thanks to Byardölf’s bonus.
“Alright…” Ma pushed the pile of savings toward us. “Put that in the chest.” When we didn’t move and just stared at her in waiting, she added with a barely-concealed roll of her eyes, “We’ll talk later.” They hurriedly put the coin for the rent in a sack and left the room, headed to the designated lean-to where rent was marked and laid out for the landlord’s inevitable return. The size of the piles of coin-sacks in there was absurdly ridiculous.
Jarl locked the door behind them, and we pried up the floorboards. Everybody hid their savings this way; if the landlord got word of us having more than we needed, he’d take it for himself forcibly. He’d done it to poor Himme and Nolmar just a couple of months ago, and after finding theirs hidden in a mattress made of sheepskin and goosefeathers, ransacked everyone else’s quarters; luckily, he was too stupid to check beneath the floorboards. Everyone had donated to them a bit in secret to help with what we could, but nobody could do much for them. We stuffed the coin inside the old chest and replaced the floorboards, padded on the underside so that it didn’t sound so different from the rest of the floor when inspection time came around– just in case.
When it was all said and done, I went to my own personal cupboard, taking the key from its place around my neck to unlock it. Inside wasn’t a lot: a couple of dragon figurines I’d made shifted out of driftwood and one old book about Keifdel Drakonsson and Vedthrelta on their numerous heroic exploits. Out of habit, I immediately grabbed it. “I’ll be at my spot if anyone needs me.”
“Guess what?” Jarl scoffed with laughter, “Absolutely no one cares.”
Alf gave me a shove out the door. “Get out, idiot.”
With a snort, I went down the hall and outside. My spot was really just a place a little away from the halls, hidden behind some underbrush and perched on the huge arching root of an oak where I could hear only the cry of the seabirds and the crash of the ocean against the shore down below a couple of sandy ridges. It wasn’t exactly private, or mine, but no one really invaded anyone’s space on this island, so I felt comfortable reading there, knowing I wouldn’t be bothered.
The root was a little higher than my hips, so it took me a bit of effort to climb on top of it, but once I did, I sat down with my back against it, treating it like a hammock. I flipped the book over carefully in my hands for a moment, just admiring it; it was old, and battered. It had been Myennr’s once, but she had given it to me when she realized how much I loved dragons and how fascinated I was with the elves; and I couldn’t be more grateful.
Before it, I’d only known about Drakonsson and Vedthrelta through Ma’s stories, which she had heard from Grandpapa. With this book– meant for children, between the ages of ten and twelve, unfortunately– I’d gotten my first glimpse of what they really looked like, and more tales of adventures than I could ever dream of. The pictures showcased lovingly-painted landscapes of his homeland, Alfheimr, the Sky Isle which looms so high overhead; they depicted scenes where Drakonsson fought his way out of a goblin stronghold, where he and Vedthrelta battled basilisks in some far-off lands, or when both dragon and rider opted for diplomacy rather than violence when orc troops had been trying to invade Valhöll.
The images showed me full-color portraits of Drakonsson and Vedthrelta: the former, a noble light elf with striking orange eyes, features like a hawk, and long dark hair, unusual for a light elf; the latter, a sixty-foot tall, one-hundred-foot long reptile with a crown of bony frill decorated with horns framing a great head like that of a rhinoceros, which sat upon a long, thick neck. Both were scarred from a long life of battles and skirmishes, and over six hundred years old. Drakonsson utilized astounding magic spells that glowed like yellow lightning and used a long, elvish blade of pure silver, while Vedthrelta’s roar was said to be able to bring whole armies to their knees.
“Valdyrbjalla,” Ma’s voice broke into my admiration of my heroes, and I almost fell off the root when I jumped. I made a surprisingly quick save and turned to face her as she approached, clearly worried.
“Hi!” I chirped cheerfully, hoping to curb her concerns with some eagerness on my part, “Come to any final decision about the competition yet?”
She came closer without answering me. After just staring over the ocean like she was debating on what to say, her eyes landed on the book about Drakonsson. Slowly, she took it from my hands, carefully flipping through it so as not to crack the old pages. She lingered on a picture where Drakonsson stood consulting with an orc chieftain, wearing his full red leather armor and peacefully attempting to negotiate while the threat of Vedthrelta loomed overhead, less than pleased. It was one of my favorites. “...You do realize what they’re asking you to do, right?”
“Huh?”     Her sharp sea eyes met mine. “The competition. You realize you’re going to have to go into those arenas, to fight and kill, right? Injure, maim, and end the lives of living creatures caught from the wild, sometimes innocent, solely for this purpose?”
I thought about that for a second. Ma– and everyone else, actually– knew how unfortunately gentle I am. I feel bad for even smashing the occasional bug that snuck into our room. I knew these monsters were probably mostly caught after causing damage and harm, but some were probably just examples of how monstrous the species could be.
But, I also knew how Drakonsson and Vedthrelta were, if anything from the books was correct. They detested needless violence and sought to make peaceful arrangements even in the worst of situations. I’m sure he wouldn’t throw a bunch of kids into an arena to kill an innocent creature. I also knew that, if I were fighting for my freedom, and my family’s freedom… I knew I could do what needed to be done. A chance to live instead of survive. A chance to be free. A chance to become someone great. A chance to become a dragonrider. A chance to have even just my own room, all to myself. We’ve had enough of this life. We deserve better. Or at least, we deserve what was taken from us.
So with steel resolve, I looked up to meet her eyes again. “...Yeah, Ma. I understand.”
She frowned. “And you think you’ll be able to do it?”
My vote toward our uncertain fate would be counted right here, right now. This could mean everything. A heavy weight seemed to sit on my shoulders as I nodded firmly, as if to convince myself that my actions were just. “Yes. I do.”
She held my gaze for a moment, probably searching for some scrap of doubt or worry that she could latch onto and expose in the hopes of keeping us from this reckless danger. I gave her nothing, keeping my will steady. “You’ve thought this through carefully? You’re sure you want to do this?”
After a deep breath, I released it with a breezy, “Yeah.” I hurriedly added, “This is what I want. I know we’re fine as we are, but it’s a chance to see the world, and be completely free, even if just for a little while. We’ll win honor, that way even if we spend the rest of our lives here, we might go to Valhalla when we die. We’ll see and do so many things we wouldn’t otherwise be able to… This is a chance we’ll never have again.”
Tears pricked at her eyes as she looked back down at the book’s pages. “...You know what will happen if you lose, right? They could send you straight back to the duke’s. You think you’ll escape a second time?”
My spine stiffened. She was right; there was a very good possibility of that, and there was no doubt that we would be locked away. I still had nightmares about being captured again. But… “I don’t think Drakonsson would let that happen. He doesn’t agree with slaves; I’m sure he’d send us all back here rather than to our former captors.” I hope…
Ma smiled softly, eyes clouded as she regarded me with a frown that clearly stated she was thinking of how young and naive I still am. “You put an awful lot of faith in words on a page, Valdyrbjalla.” She waved the book around for emphasis. “Even if it is a supposed hero.”
“I didn’t say he was a hero,” I countered, grinning, “You did. You raised me to believe in Drakonsson and Vedthrelta more than anything else.”
Her frown deepened, and as she squeezed her eyes shut I realized that she was fighting back sobs. “So I did…”
I abandoned the comfort of the root and came to give her a tight embrace. “Whatever happens, it’s meant to happen. I feel like we should do this; like we can do this. I know we probably won’t win, but we’ll make names for ourselves in any case. This is something I know we can do; and… If we are captured, and the worst does happen… I’m sure we could escape, and find our way back here. By that point, we’ll have been trained by Drakonsson himself. We’ll be fine.”
Actually, I wasn’t so sure about that myself, but I had to assure her otherwise. I want to go to this competition. I wasn’t thinking about the prize– or, maybe I was, a little. On the off chance that we did win, we’d get to go to the most prestigious, well-known academy in all the Eight Worlds of Valhöll. We’d be trained and educated on whatever subject we wanted– I’d get my dragon. The mysterious outline of a dragon had been in my daydreams for as long as I could remember, an unattainable fantasy.
But most importantly, we’d be free. Free to go and do whatever we wanted to without living in constant fear of being recaptured or sent to prison. I think, once we actually got in the arenas, we’d be so determined to win our freedom that even without Drakonsson’s training, we’d fight pretty damn hard for it.
She pulled back, wiping tears from her cheeks with the palms of her hands. “You don’t know that…”
“No, I don’t,” My admittance was met by an already-grieving sea-green gaze sharply locking on mine. I swung back on my heels, trying to act as nonchalant as possible for her sake. “...But I’m willing to try.”
Ma started crying harder, and I hugged her again, unsure of what else to do. Her grip was tight enough to leave me breathless– I didn’t have the heart to tell her that I couldn’t breathe. “You have to listen to me; do you understand? You stay with your brother and sister. And if you’re not going to be kept together, you don’t go anyway. Do you understand?”
Relief flooded through me, but also guilt; how could we leave her like this? How could we willingly hurl ourselves into danger when we knew it would worry her nearly to death? Because… If we win… We’ll free us all. “Yeah, Ma; I understand.”
She stepped back, trying to regain control over herself. She took a deep, difficult breath. “I think… I think you’re right. I… A part of me trusts Drakonsson to get you back here safely– if the stories are true about him. Another part is terrified of what might happen anyway, out of his control.” Her eyes seemed to pierce through me. “This is a once in a lifetime opportunity. If you don’t go, you’ll never get this chance again, and I can’t let that happen. You have to go; I’ve already talked to Alfhildr and Jarl, and they both said the same thing. That you’re confident, and that you all want this. You’re all sixteen now… You have the right to make this decision yourself. But…” She stuck her tongue into the back corner of her mouth, shifting her jaw as she struggled to keep from bawling. “I’ve already made them promise– now you have to, too. Promise me, Valdyrbjalla, the first wind you get of anyone being sent back to their captors or to the dungeons, you three take. Off. I don’t care where you are or how deep into the competition you’ve gotten, I want you out of there at the first sign of it. Do you understand?”
It was the least any of us could do with where we were going. That terrifying uncertainty that persisted in looming over everything obsessively suddenly seemed a lot more real and dangerous than ever before. “I promise, Ma.”
Regret and relief clashed almost painfully in her eyes, and she turned away before I could see more. “Then… if you keep those two promises… if you really want to go, you can.” The words were difficult for her to stomach. She sounded almost ill.
For a minute, we just stood there, staring out over the endless blue-green seas that seemed to merge with the sky at the horizon. With a mind of their own, they tickled the white sands of the shore before retreating in on themselves with a laugh lost to time. The shore remained blind to its efforts, though little by little, was stripped away of itself and taken somewhere far off. Seabirds cawed lazily overhead, blind to our conflicts, carried on the same wind that stirred the branches into their own kind of music. As a kind of security, I held onto Ma’s arm with one hand and my book with the other, holding it to my chest. What will we do without her? Without this comfort or security? That unknowable lingering overhead? What will we do?
    “...Thank you, Ma.”
I was simply glad we were going with her blessing, rather than against her wishes. Stiffly, she nodded and turned away, back to the halls. “We’ll set off for Izana tomorrow; you should sign the contract on the way to the Worldtree, it will give you more time.”
I tugged on her arm, making her look at me. Despite the tears pricking the corners of her eyes, I still said what I needed to, although I was sure it would only make her cry more. “...You know we’ll always come back to you, right? No matter what happens?”
She all but burst into tears. “Oh, Valdyrbjalla…” Her arms locked around me in a bone-breaking mother’s hold, and after a moment of sobbing into my shoulder, she composed herself and stepped back, wiping her face. “Let’s hurry back. Dinner’s nearly ready.”
I linked arms with her, and we went back up the hill together.

▪︎ __________ 🌷 __________ ▪︎
It had been a few days since the case had made the news, and things had been... whatever would be considered normal for the Daltons and Ms. Brooks. Sam had been interrogated by numerous detectives about most of the new findings, but there was one big lead that still needed time. Police were looking in an area of Birchport that was notorious for vanishings, it had even been the subject of Kate O'Malley's disappearance four years ago, but hadn't uncovered much until today. Sam was at the police station waiting for news, while Hannah took the kids to play at an arcade and Marianne was at a crime scene. Two detectives from Los Angeles had been called in to help lead the investigation, and were keeping Sam company.
"Can I at least call and tell my secretary to hold all of my calls?" He asked a detective who had been brought in to help lead the newly reopened investigation.
"We already had someone do that, Mr. Dalton. Please relax, we'll update you if we have anything. But since it's just you and me, do you mind if I ask some questions?" Detective Dave Reyes asked.
"There's nothing better to do, so go ahead." Sam answered.
"You claimed that you saw your wife board a train locally, but GPS records combined with credit card statements say that both of you were in Birchport on the last day that she was seen alive. Did that little detail slip your mind when you reported her missing? Deputy Marshal Samantha Massey asked.
"I forgot. We went there to look for a venue to host my sister's wedding." Sam answered.
"Separately? I mean I'm not a wedding guy, hell I married Samantha here in a courthouse, but picking out a venue seems like something a couple does together. Or, you know, with the actual bride and her spouse." Dave questioned.
"Robin didn't have time, neither did her fiancé, so we were going to call them and take some pictures. Ask Robin." Sam clarified.
"You remarried years after Mrs. Dalton's disappearance, but you were briefly engaged to Sofia Russo, who was longtime friends with you and Addision shortly before that. Could Ms. Russo have anything to do with Addison's disappearance?" Dave asked.
"They may not have been best friends after the twins were born, but they were close. Sofia is cunning, manipulative, and one hell of a schemer, but she's not a killer." Sam replied.
"How are you so sure that your ex wife is dead?" Samantha asked.
"Well she hasn't popped back into my life or her children's lives in twelve years, so it's not likely." Sam looked nervous, something Detective Reyes and Deputy Marshal Massey picked up on.
"People have come back after being missing longer than that, Mr. Dalton." Samantha said.
David got pulled out of the room for an update that would change everything, leaving Sam with Samantha, which was also a strategy they had planned on using.
"Okay, now that we're alone, time for a little chat between us. You have an eye for other women, what if a side chick gave you an ultimatum and you decided to completely cut wifey number one out of the picture?" Samanatha leaned in to ask.
"I'm not an idiot, why would I risk doing something like that for a woman I didn't marry?" Sam answered.
"Oh please, people have killed for less. Have you seen any episode of 48 Hours?" Samantha was being rhetorical.
"I'm being honest. I have a reputation to protect, one that will be my children's legacy. Why would I jeopardize that?" Sam was getting frustrated.
"Everyone has done drastic things to protect their reputations, Mr. Dalton. Who's to say that murder isn't one of them?" Samantha toyed with him until Dave walked in.
"Mr. Dalton, I'm afraid that we have some terrible news. The crime scene team and D.A. Dalton searched the Birchport forest near the docks, and... I'm not sure how to tell you this, but a skeleton was discovered. We're not sure if it's Addison, but there's a faded image next to it that may look familiar to you." Dave held an iPad in his hands, sitting down in front of Sam.
Tumblr media
"That's..That's... a photo of Mickey and Mason when they were babies." Sam's face went whiter than a ghost.
"Mr. Dalton, I'm sorry to say this, but until we get DNA results, we can't be sure if this is your ex wife or not. The photo is barely together so we can't even run it for fingerprints, but given that it was found with the skeleton..." Dave said.
"...It's more than likely that it's her." Samantha finished.
Sam sat in disbelief, shock, and fear. He worried that even after twelve years, it would come back to him. He'd just lied to a deputy marshal and a detective, and had been lying to everyone else since that fateful day in 2010. But the discovery of Addison only set forth more questions and things to be discovered...

Hi! I would like a request about Derek from teen wolf, please. The reader is trying to approach him, taking care of him "because Derek is too busy taking care of the others", BUT IT'S BEING SO HARD because of all of his past. Derek and the reader argue one night because of the overprotective nature of the reader about him, and when she tries to leave the loft, completely upset with Derek, he tries to fix things between them. Could you do this with a lot of angst and, then, tons of fluff? Thanks!
Ignored
Pairing: Derek Hale x Reader
Warnings: Angst bbyyyy, and some fluffy goodness at the end, not checked over (so probably a crap ton of spelling errors)
A/N: hello hope you enjoy, sorry it took forever! I’m so busy with work, college and personal issues that writing has been put on the back-burner.
Tumblr media
When the name Derek Hale was mentioned- one immediately thought of the broody, salty, sarcastic young man who lived by himself after the tragic Hale house fire.
Nobody would ever associate the name Derek Hale and caring. It just wasn’t in his nature. Because under no circumstances could Derek be remotely kind, caring or soft in any way possible.
That’s what people thought of Derek. But not you- or the majority of the pack for that matter.
Yes, you saw where others came from with their ideas and judgement (Derek’s lack of colour in his wardrobe obviously didn’t help either).
But to you when you heard the name Derek Hale, you immediately thought of the kind hearted man who would give up anything for the safety of his friends and family (as much as he claimed otherwise).
You knew him differently, you knew him like the back of your hand. You knew that his favourite food was Spagetti Carbonara without the mushrooms, that he didn’t like Coca Cola, that he secretly loved watching trashy tv shows like keeping up with the kardashians, and most importantly that he was running himself ragged.
He had bitten off more than he could chew when it came to helping everyone out. He was the one giving lifts and helping with homework and hosting pack nights, and handling Isaac’s nightmares, all of this happening at the same time as some supposed lizard creature being on the loose.
You had been ignored by Derek Hale for approximately 72 hours. Now this wouldn’t be bad if it weren’t for two things.
1. He wasn’t aware that he was actively ignoring you.
2. The idiot wasn’t your husband of 2 years.
Over 68 hours ago you hadn’t minded, you had even brushed the silence and distance off- knowing that Derek liked to have a little time to himself.
But when it hit the 5 hour mark of the 4th day, frustration and disappointment had begun to set in.
There was one more thing that made the whole situation worse. He was blatantly ignoring you- and only you.
It hurt. You could admit that to yourself easily without any qualms at all. It hurt.
Whether that was to do with the whole ‘mate’ side of things you didn’t know- all that you did know was that Derek Hale was drowning and he wasn’t going to swim until everyone else was okay.
-
Thud, thud, thud, creaak
“Der please sit down”
“I can’t. I gotta figure this shit out before the school finishes for the day.” Derek grunted from his spot in the middle of the room. His head firmly stuck in the thick, dusty book that he had been pouring through for the majority of the afternoon.
“Der please, take a break.” You pleaded with him, begging him to just stop for a second and relax.
“I can’t,” Derek murmured again, before he pivoted in his heel and walked away up the staircase.
His heavy footfalls retreated upstairs, the musty book still clutched in his grasp.
Swallowing the lump in your throat, you willed the tears in your eyes to stay put and to not roll down your cheeks in fat drops.
Why couldn’t you be enough for him?
-
The next plea came around 2 hours later, when you brought a bowl of homemade pasta and garlic bread up to Derek. Hoping that just maybe it would strike up a conversation, that maybe he would utter more than two short sentences to you.
“Babe- I made you lunch.” You elbowed your way into the room, balancing the bowl and plate in your hands.
“Just leave it on the desk.” He motioned to an empty slot on the overcrowded surface.
“I just thought that maybe we could have lunch together, have some time with each-other.”
“Y/N/N’s I would- but I have so much to do. Stiles and Scott are already on my ass about the damn lizard freak in town.”
“Der, you need to take a break.” You placed your hands on his shoulders. Instead of feeling them relax you could feel his muscles tense up.
Shrugging your hands off, he pushed the fresh plate of food away, “I can’t.” He spoke simply.
“But-“ you tried to object in protest, trying to plead with the broad shouldered man in front of you- hoping that maybe, just maybe he would come to his senses.
He did not.
“I said no Y/N.” Derek ground out, “I’m busy. Please for the love of God stop bothering me.”
The words stung you, causing you to stumble back in shock. Derek had a hard exterior, everybody knew that. But he had never spoken like that to you.
He had promised on your wedding day that he would always be kind, that he would be your biggest supporter and largest source of love.
But all those words felt like lies now. You felt alone, like an empty shell of yourself. Why couldn’t you just be enough?
-
Hours flew by, the watch on Derek’s wrist occasionally beeping to signify the new hour. If he were being honest- he had lost track of what the time was.
The only signifier was that Stiles, Scott and the others were in his presence- meaning it was at least 4pm
And judging by the sky outside of his office window, it was late evening, as the sky itself had melted from cool blues into a fantastic array of oranges and purples.
But besides the low chatters and bickering coming from Isaac and Stiles, the house felt almost too quiet.
There was no tv hum coming from the living room, no occasional flush or running of water from the restroom, no sizzle from food coming on the oventop, no sound of a page in a book turning. Nothing. Just silence.
“Hey Derek,” He looked up to see Scott staring at him, “Where’s Y/N?”
“Well-“
“Yeah, I haven’t seen her yet today.” Isaac chimed in.
“I’m not actually too sure.”
Derek was met with a sea of blank stares.
“I’m sorry- there’s a kanima out there roaming Beacon Hills, the very same kanima that is killing more people by the day. And you don’t know where your wife is?” Stiles asked incredulously, “Are you kidding me.”
“Well I’ve been so caught up on this research that I haven’t been spending as much time with her.” Derek attempted to defend himself.
“Derek, please tell me that you haven’t been ignoring your wife.”
Everybody had there eyes on him again.
“Well-“
There was an uproar of protests, all of which were yelling at Derek for ignoring and deserting his wife.
“You better find her Derek, before something happens and you regret it for the rest of your life.”
-
You really didn’t know how long you had been out here for. All you knew was that the night was closing in and the chill was setting in your bones.
But you didn’t want to go back to the loft, you honestly didn’t think you could handle seeing Derek after his outburst earlier.
The cold, damp ground soaked into your body- sucking all the warmth out of your body at a creeping pace.
The spot you sat in, hadn’t changed much since your first date with Derek. It was still isolated and it gave off the best views in Beacon Hills. Nobody knew about it but you and Derek.
Sighing deeply, you looked out over the viewing point- watching the tiny specks of light flicker in the distance. Every single light showed a different life that was being lived, each one with their own struggles. Beacon Hills was something else to say the least.
“I knew I could find you here.” A familiar voice broke your train of thought.
You kept silent, staring straight ahead, willing that your bottom lip wouldn’t start trembling and the flood gate wouldn’t open in your eyes.
“Look I’m sorry.”
You sniffed, still unable to look your husband in the eyes, “Are you though?” You briefly shut your eyes to stop any tears from breaking through, “or are you just saying that to get on my good side.”
You could feel Derek’s presence settle down besides your own. His breath creating little puffs of mist under the dark sky.
“I didn’t realise you were trying to help me, until it was too late and you’d left the apartment” He muttered, “It’s my fault, I should’ve taken your advice, I should’ve listened to you.”
You listened intently, knowing his words were sincere and heartfelt, “Why didn’t you listen to me then Der?” You responded bitterly.
“Because accepting help means showing weakness, and showing weakness is something I haven’t done since before the fire.” Derek’s voice was small now, “Before I met you, accepting help was off the table- I was a lone wolf, with no pack or family. And now I’ve found you and I’m desperate to not lose that again, I can’t lose you to this new threat in town- I can’t be alone again.”
Silence hung heavy in the air as your husband’s words set in. It made sense to you; why he was studying non-stop, why he had barely slept or ate.
It was apparent that while he was trying to protect his loved ones, he was also pushing them away in the process. That needed to change.
“You won’t be alone Der,” You lay your head down on his shoulder, “I promise that much- it’s you and me forever.”
“Through every supernatural event that happens in this town?”
You giggled softly, “Yes, and every single thing in between.”

The Most Unlikely Thing
A Stolitz Wedding One-Shot
Inspired by this lovely art by @sator-the-wanderer on Instagram (Link at the end)
Tumblr media
(Note: This is my first time writing with Helluva Boss Characters—I was worried they wouldn’t be in character, but I hope you enjoy!!)
Most would say a night like this would never happen. That it was one of the many outlandish and downright ridiculous thoughts that appeared within the mind of anyone who knew them. If you said it outloud, you’d get a quick laugh out of the person you told, then the subject would be changed in an instant-as if it was never said at all.
Moxxie had that thought once. Right around 2AM he woke up from an uneventful dreamscape, and processed the thought with every ounce of his intellect. Even after that, it still made no sense. He turned to Millie’s side, taking a deep breath before he spoke.
“Millie? Are you awake?”
His wife stirred for a moment, a small yawn before she responded. “Yeah, Moxx?” She mumbled.
“I...had a weird thought..” He sat up, running his hand through his snow-white hair, soon scratching the top of his head.
“What was it?” She sat up a little, both curious and worried about what he might be thinking.
“Well-” He paused for a moment, giving the room a good look around before he continued. If a certain someone was here, listening, he wouldn’t hear the end of it. “It’s about Blitz and uh...Prince Stolas.”
Millie’s golden eyes widened as her tail started swishing like a curious cat. Any worry she had was gone, now she wanted to know all the details surrounding this. “Well?? Don’t keep me in suspense!” She smiled eagerly, shaking him by the arm a little.
“So like...and this is just a hypothetical..” He chuckled, smiling nervously for a quick second. “I just wondered for a second...well..” At this moment their eyes were locked, Moxxie’s face now torn between smiling or frowning. He had no idea what to feel. “Do you think they could ever...end up like us?”
Millie tilted her head, raising a brow. “Ya mean like...married ‘n stuff?”
Moxxie nodded a few times. “Yeah, Yeah! Do you...do you think-?”
She put a hand on her chin. “Well...I don’t think it isn’t possible. I mean...I’m pretty sure...excluding their little agreement...maybe they do like each other..”
“Do they though?” He started to lay down again, now staring at the ceiling. “I mean clearly Stolas likes him to the point where he won’t stop gushing over him. But...Blitz?”
“Who knows, hon. Blitz hardly talks about how he really feels. Maybe he does. And maybe one day they will…” The last thing didn’t sound so sure.
Moxxie turned his head. “But?”
“All relationships are complex, Moxx. And those two? Hell, it could take them years before they even think about something like that. But then again…”
“What?”
“Sometimes the thing you least expect might happen sooner than you think.”
Moxxie blinked a couple times, squinting a bit. “Sooo...you do or you don’t think they could-” He was interrupted by Millie giving him a kiss on the lips. She turned the light off next, shifting back into her sleeping position.
“Goodnight, Moxxie.”
Moxxie sighed, slowly closing his eyes as sleep began to cloud his mind again.
He still couldn’t believe he actually thought that. Although it wasn’t the worst thing in the world, it still surprised him no less. But despite how much he just wanted to forget it, it made him think about what Millie said.
It was true Blitz was starting to show a small glimmer of affection towards the Goetian Prince, especially since the rescue from a few nights ago. The concern and sudden display of power through a demonic transformation was enough to make Blitz gawk at the sight of it. And the way Stolas gently cupped his face asking if he was alright afterwards made everyone else in the room stare, Blitz feeling slightly embarrassed by the whole situation.
Yet it still made him think that maybe...just maybe something like that could happen. But that wasn’t up to him. Whatever they decided would leave this idea, this thought, completely within the hands of faith itself.
And with that, Moxxie fell asleep.
———————
Three years ago, it was never spoken of outside of that one night. And neither of the two had ever acted upon such a decision until much much time had passed. But now the stars were in their favor.
The sky was a dark, beautiful crimson that had mixed with a captivating wine purple. The stars were scattered, dusting the sky and turning it into a dazzling display of twilight.
They had kept it small, the only ones being present were close friends and family—which was basically four people. But it didn’t matter how many people were there, or where they did it. All that mattered was that it happened—which had ended up on the roof of I.M.P’s office building.
The vows had been short, with a few important bits here and there; Moxxie having to be both the one to wed them and the best man to the boss himself. He wasn’t sure he had the exact authority to do so, but both explained it was better than having someone else they didn’t know. Because once this got out, they’d have a whole other thing to deal with. But that was a future problem they would solve when it became relevant to them.
Blitz was given a stepstool so he could reach Stolas without having to stand on the tips of his toes. He didn’t want the stepstool, saying that he’d look like a complete joke. But if Stolas had to lift him up for this part, he would be unable to think clearly from the embarrassment.
Stolas didn’t seem to care how many people were present, or where they decided to host the reception. There was only one thing that mattered in this moment, and the smile of genuine compassion refused to leave his face the entire night. Blitz looking up with him while trying to contain himself only seemed to make him smile more. He was adorable.
Both eagerly waited for Moxxie to finish up, Blitz trying to keep himself from falling off the stool by how much he was moving. Of course he stood perfectly still once he heard the last few words out of Moxxie’s mouth.
“You may now kiss—”
Blitz practically jumped into Stolas’ embrace, quickly locking lips with him as the two slowly started to get lost in intimacy.
The four clapped while giving the newly weds smiles of congratulations. But those quickly faded away when they noticed the two weren’t paying attention anymore. The passionate kissing lasted for almost two minutes before Loona had to break them away from each other.
“Hey, lovebirds. Maybe wait till none of us can see you.” She rolled her eyes, putting Blitz down after basically pulling him off of Stolas.
Blitz put a hand on his head, taking a look around. “Oh shit, I forgot we were doing this.”
Stolas bent over with a light chuckle, booping Blitz’s nose. “-and aren’t you so glad we did, Blitzy~?”
The Imp pushed his face away as he blushed a bit more. “Yeah yeah just…don’t make it a bigger deal than it already is..”
“Looks like someone’s trying to pretend he can’t be romantic for once.” Moxxie smirked, making Blitz turn around in retaliation. His face was now a different form of red.
“Well you know what, Moxxie?! You—!” Then he stopped, biting his lip as he put his accusing finger away. “You…did..a good job…tonight..” He mumbled under his breath.
Moxxie kept smirking, raising a hand to where his ear would be. “Oh, what was that? Could you repeat what you said a little louder?”
Blitz shifted uncomfortably, hoping this was the last time. None of this was like him. And in front of his entire friend circle too!
“You…didagoodjobtonight..” He said it louder as per Moxxie’s request, just a bit faster than normal. Now everyone heard him…however-
“Maybe a little louder…and slower?” He leaned in closer.
“Goddammit, Moxxie! I already held back insulting you just let me have this!” He snapped a little, making everyone else just laugh in response. Moxxie put a hand on his shoulder, his smile genuine.
“Thanks, Blitz.”
———————
The rest of the wedding had lasted a couple hours. Since the group was so small, dancing and talking underneath Hell’s strangely unnatural starlight felt more meaningful.
Eventually, M&M had to leave. But they wished the two best of luck, the wedding present they got the only thing left of them from tonight. Octavia and Loona decided to head inside the office to give their dads space. Now that they were legally sisters, hanging out would feel more genuine. Like you had someone else there looking out for you. Loona now was able to shout anything about being her big sister to anyone who tried to mess with them.
Up on the roof, Blitz and Stolas were laying down on what used to be the tablecloth to the buffet, staring at the stars. Blitz had taken advantage of using Stolas’ chest as a fluffy pillow. It was so comforting, like he could just lay there forever and never get up. But then…something did make him get up. He sat and hugged his knees close, his expression somewhat distraught. His eyes turned briefly to the owl demon, feeling strange.
“Stolas?” He finally broke the silence.
Stolas had already taken note of Blitz sitting up. But he quickly sat up when next he saw his partner’s face.
“What’s the matter, Blitzy? Are you feeling alright?” His questions were genuine, making Blitz feel worse.
“Is this…is this what you want? Do you really want…me?” Something in his voice cracked and that made Stolas’ heart feel a strike of pain.
“Of course I do! Tell me, what brought this on?” He held Blitz’s chin in his hand gently so their eyes met once more.
“It’s…It’s just how we started out. And everything after that…I don’t know why it took me so fucking long to actually admit that I…” He paused. “…felt this way.”
“And?”
“And…I didn’t think that you would actually..! You…You said yes.” His eyes started to water. “Why the hell did you say yes?!”
Stolas pulled him in close, caressing his back. “Because I love you, Blitzy…And you being there all those times, even when I didn’t truly feel this way—it still meant something to me. And I know it meant something to you.”
Blitz let out a crying sound, something he would never do. At least, not in public. He didn’t know what was wrong with him, but he just felt so vulnerable now…and he hated it. Stolas quickly responded to this by cupping his face and lifting it up so they were at eye level again.
The Imp’s lip was quivering and his eyes were bloodshot enough to almost blend in with his eye color. The tears were staining his cheeks, big droopy ones making him look like an absolute wreck. He looked even more embarrassed now than he did before.
Stolas wiped some of the tears away with one of his hands, a comforting smile. “Oh, Blitzy…do you think we’d really be here if I didn’t feel this way?”
He sniffed, trying to contain himself before he responded. “No..None of this would be…” He took a deep breath. “I guess I’m so used to pushing people away I never thought you’d actually stick around.”
Stolas gave him another kiss, shorter than before, but something about this one felt even more emotional than the last. Something about this one made Blitz want nothing more than to be with him. No matter what his fears were telling him.
“I love you, Blitzy…” It was the third or fourth time he had said it tonight, but this time it felt deeper.
“I love you too, Stolas…” He returned the kiss, both landing back down on the floor.
It was at that moment they refused to let this feeling leave them. For even though the memory of this magical night would fly by, they would never ever forget it.
End.

Chapter 11
You and Heisenberg sat side by side against the headboard as he told you everything.  The bed sheet was pulled up to his waist while you pulled it higher, covering your nakedness.  He reached for a cigar and lighter on his nightstand, puffing and exhaling in between the story.  You kept your eyes focused forward: on your legs under the sheets, on your hands in your lap, anywhere but turning your head to look at him.
It took him almost an hour to relay everything to you.  His story started over 100 years ago when the woman you now knew as Mother Miranda lost her daughter Eva.  You listened as he told you how she discovered an unknown organism under the village known as the Megamycete.  Heisenberg stopped periodically, puffed his cigar, and asked if you wanted a break or if you had any questions.  All you could do is shake your head and bid him to keep talking.
Your heart broke hearing him talk about how Mother Miranda kidnapped him from his family and infected him with Cadou.  The name of the organism sounded familiar, then you remembered that it was the thing in the jar that Moreau had in his laboratory.  Heisenberg explained that the Cadou drastically changed an individual...either physically, mentally, metaphysically, and sometimes in every way imaginable.  He told you that the Cadou is what gave him the ability to move metal objects with his mind.  He also shared the fact that he was able to manipulate electric fields and communicate through electronics like radios, televisions, and the overhead PA system that was installed in the factory.
He shared that the Cadou was why Moreau was trapped in the prison that is his mutated body.
Tears slid down your cheeks at the thought of Moreau being in constant pain and turmoil because this “mother,” as he lovingly called her the last time you were with him, turned him into a monster.  But your heart also ached at the thought of Karl being taken as a child, experimented on, and left alone with a family that was not his family.  You could only imagine how scared and alone he must have felt, how much he must have missed his family, and how his real family must have searched for him for years until they all eventually died off one by one.
Heisenberg came to the end of his story, stubbed his cigar out in the ashtray, and slowly turned his head to look at you.  A part of him was scared, scared that you wouldn’t believe him, or worse, that you would run as far away from him as possible.  It was a thought that tied his stomach into knots.  He had wanted you from the moment he set eyes on you and had just gotten you into his arms and into his bed...he didn’t want to lose you now.
You shifted next to him and he waited for you to rise from the bed, put your clothes back on, and demand to be taken somewhere where you could call for rescue.  He was surprised when instead you looped your arm under his and held his bicep, resting your head on his shoulder.  He sighed in relief, a slow smile spreading over his face as he lifted his hand and placed it on your outer leg, pulling your legs closer to him.
“So what do you think?” Heisenberg asked, pressing his lips into your hair.
“It’s unbelievable,” you murmured, “but then again, I’ve seen enough of this village to know that unbelievable things happen and reside here.  I should have known when I saw that thing that looked like a tree reach up and rip off the wing of the plane..”
Heisenberg furrowed his brow at your words.  A tree?  Then it dawned on him that you were referring to the mold.  He came to the conclusion that you must have looked out of the plane window and saw it strike.  He could only imagine how terrifying it was to be on a plane and experience it not only crashing, but also being the only survivor.
“The mold...the thing you saw is called the mold.  I saw it retreating back into the village after your plane crashed.  I knew if there were any survivors that Mother Miranda would find them and infect them in hopes that one would bring her daughter back into this life.  When I saw you...you looked so frightened, so fragile...and you were so beautiful.  You never know what the Cadou will do to a host, Moreau and the lycans being the disastrous part of the spectrum.  So I grabbed you, told Moreau I would kill him if he told anyone, and here you are.”
You lifted your head from his shoulder and looked up at him.  His penetrating gaze, the scars that peppered his face, his long hair that fell to his chin, and his beard...Heisenberg was incredibly handsome.  His physical body was not adversely affected by Mother Miranda’s experimentation.  And even though he didn’t tell you why he brought you here at first, you were grateful that he finally confided in you.
“Thank you,” you whispered, smiling at him, “I understand now why you brought me here and why you were so secretive.  I would never have believed you at first and automatically would have written you off as crazy.  And the bodies in the factory...you need an army to stop Miranda.  The bodies from the cemetery, the bodies from the plane crash...you need all the help you can get.  It’s...it’s tough to think of Bruce and the others being turned into mindless soldiers, but I understand why you need them…”
Heisenberg’s eyes searched yours.  His hand squeezed your leg reassuringly.  “I’m so sorry you had to see your friend like that.  I didn’t know you had gotten to know him on the plane.  To me, they were always just tools to aid me in my battle with Miranda...but they were once people.  They had families, friends...I promise you when this is over, I will put their bodies to rest.”
You nodded.  “I’ll help you...help you bury them, say a few words...convince their ghosts not to come back and haunt you for all eternity…”
He chuckled and leaned in, kissing your lips softly.  You lifted your hand and caressed his cheek, feeling the scruffiness of his beard.  A surprised groan formed in his throat as you pushed your tongue out to lick his lips.  Both of his hands lifted, cupped your face, and deepened the kiss.
The two of you sat there, kissing and making out like a pair of horny teenagers.  You released the sheet that covered your breasts and it pooled in your lap.  One of Heisenberg’s hands went around to your back, pulling you closer, as his other hand stayed pressed to your cheek.
He pulled away from the kiss, which made you whimper.  He laughed before growling playfully and moving to his knees.  Pulling the sheets off of your body, he grabbed your thighs and pulled your body forward, making you lie back on your pillow.  “Karl!” you squealed as he made quick work of spreading your legs and lying on his stomach between them.
“I’ve only briefly tasted you...now I want to devour you…” he growled.  Both of his arms wrapped under and around your legs as his lips kissed the soft skin of your inner thighs.  You sat up on your elbows, your mouth going dry and your heart beating wildly.  As you watched him kiss up and down one thigh before moving to the other, you felt your arousal accelerate.  You had been intimate before, but you had never had a man go down on you.  It had been a fantasy for a long time.  You fantasized about it over and over as you pleasured yourself.  And now, here is this mysterious, strong man between your legs, moving achingly slow towards your pussy.
“Karl…” you whispered, your thighs trembling on either side of his face.  His lips spread in a grin as he hovered over your pussy, blowing softly on your clit.  Your lips parted and you moaned loudly, arching your hips up to his mouth.  Heisenberg laughed and kissed along the flesh of your labia, his teeth gently nibbling on it.  Desire and arousal churned in your stomach and you could feel your wetness pooling out of you.
“Do you like that, doll face?” he asked, kissing around your clit, “does it feel good?”
All you could do was nod your head and move your hips.  He was mercilessly teasing you, tormenting you with his skilled mouth and never truly giving you what you wanted.
“Mmmm...you smell so good…” Heisenberg murmured, pressing the tip of his nose to your clit and nuzzling it softly.
“Karl, for fuck’s sake...please...please…” you begged, grabbing the sheets in your fists.  His gaze fixed on yours and he smiled, slowly extended his tongue, and circled around your clit.
You tossed your head back and cried out, your lower back arching off the bed.  You panted and moaned his name as his tongue curled and flicked over the swollen nub.  The pleasure that coursed through your body was unlike anything you had ever felt before.  The feel of his hands spreading your thighs wider and his fingers sinking into your skin almost drove you insane.
“Karl...Karl...oh fuck...yes...yes...don’t stop…” you whimpered.  Heisenberg chuckled softly, closing his lips around your clit and sucking.  One hand released the sheets and shot up to the headboard, grabbing onto one of the railings for dear life.  Your body undulated and gyrated on his bed as his mouth gave you pleasure beyond anything you had ever felt before.
Heisenberg became drunk with power as he looked up at you.  The way you moved and the sounds that slid past your lips made him unbelievably hard.  He found himself grinding his solid cock into the bed, desperate for friction.  Your reaction to his mouth was better than any pornographic image he had seen in his long life.  His eyes darkened as ideas flowed through his mind.  He made mental notes of all of the things he wanted to do to you right here in his bed...and all of the ways he would make you scream his name and shout your ecstasy.
He moved his right hand from your thigh to your dripping pussy.  He pulled away his mouth momentarily in order to softly caress your opening with the pads of his fingers.  You continued to moan and pant.
“I’m going to make you cum on my tongue over and over again…” Heisenberg promised, “and I’m going to shove my fingers inside of you...fingering you and tasting every part of your delicious cunt…”
Both of your hands were on the headboard railings, your body twisting amongst the sheets.  Your hips bucked uncontrollably against his face as he pushed his index and middle fingers inside of you.  His mouth went back to your clit, flicking it thoroughly as he rubbed your G-spot back and forth.
“Karl...you’re gonna make me cum...I wanna cum on your fingers...on your face...let me cum on your fucking face!!” you shouted, all manners and discretion completely thrown out of the window.  Heisenberg growled and gave you what you wanted.  His fingers pushed in and out of your wet opening noisily, the squelching sounds of your wetness audible to the both of you.  His tongue flicked your clit hard and fast and within seconds your lower back was arched completely off the bed and your orgasm shook your entire body.  You screamed his name over and over until his mouth slowly brought you back down to reality.
Aftershocks shook you as Heisenberg crawled up your body, chuckling against the skin of your stomach.  You released the railings and brought your hands to his head, tangling your fingers in his hair.
His lips met yours and you kissed him hard.  You felt his skin pressed against yours as his arms wrapped around your body and held you tight.  The sensation of your retreating orgasm followed by his strong arms made your heart surge in your chest.  You felt wanted, desired, and protected.  He had given you more pleasure than you had ever been given by any other guy or even yourself for that matter.  The connection you were feeling with him was growing...you hoped that Heisenberg felt it as well.
You wrapped your legs around his waist as he rolled his hips against your wet cunt.  His hard cock rubbed back and forth between your pussy lips, making your desire accelerate all over again.
Heisenberg’s tongue explored your mouth, sliding and nudging yours into submission.  His hands slid up your back and to your shoulders, hugging you close.  Arousal and the growing need of his body increased.  His lips kissed down your neck and to your chest, licking the thin sheen of sweat that settled on your flesh.
“Karl…” you whispered, moving one hand down along his shoulder blades as your other hand stayed tangled in his hair.
“I love hearing your beautiful voice say my name…” he moaned, kissing down between your breasts.  You arched your hips and spread your thighs wider, aching to feel him inside of you.  Heisenberg pushed himself up on one hand while his other reached down to grab his cock.  He rubbed the tip up and down along your pussy, teasing you mercilessly.
“Karl...please fuck me again...fuck me…” you said, arching your hips higher.  You were desperate to feel him, to feel his cock stretch you out and to feel his hips hammering down against yours.
He pushed inside of you and the both of you moaned loudly.  His left hand moved up to the headboard, holding it tight as the other hand wrapped around your leg, hiking it higher up on his hip.
The feel of his hips hammering you into the bed was enough to drive you mad.  His cock pushed deeper, faster, and harder.  It was like he could no longer help himself...now that you were under him, he was possessed.
Your hands reached around to his lower back, moving up and down in time with his thrusts.  Your pussy walls clenched around his cock every time he pushed inside of you and his grunts became louder because of it.  You gripped him like a vice and he had to hold himself off from cumming too soon.  He wanted you to cum again, but this...he wanted to feel it, experience it, memorize every fucking part of your cunt.
“Y/N...oh god pussycat, you’re killing me...your fucking cunt...it’s so damn tight and wet...god dammit!!” he yelled, tossing his head back.  Looking up at him losing control and fucking you harder and desperately...you wanted to give him as much pleasure as he was giving you.
His hand released your leg and went to the back of your head, making you look down at his cock thrusting in and out of you.  His other hand pressed to the bed, gripping the sheets.  “Look at how your cunt is taking my cock...taking my cock like a good little girl…”
Your orgasm was close as you watched his hips crashing down on yours, his cock moving quickly in and out of you.  You gripped his hips and screamed his name again and again.  Heisenberg moved forcefully, the bed banging against the wall.
“Fuck, Y/N!  Fuck!!!  Oh fuck, your amazing pussy is gonna kill me!” Heisenberg shouted.  You looked up into his face, his features twisted into pleasure so primal and hedonistic.  His hair fell in his face, his mouth dropped open, and his eyes were fused to yours.
“Cum inside of me, Karl,” you begged, squeezing his cock tightly inside of you.
“OH FUCK ME!!!” he shouted, tossing his head back.  You felt him cum, his cock twitching inside of you and in seconds you came as well, your body bucking wildly, holding tight to his hips.  Heisenberg continued to curse and grunt as he pumped every drop of cum inside of you.  You trembled under him, moving your hands up his sides, down his chest and stomach, and up his back.  He released a shaky breath as he slowly lowered himself onto his elbows, burying his face into your neck.
His body rocked on top of you, still thrusting slowly.  You kissed along his shoulder and nuzzled his skin with your nose.  The feel of his hot breath on your neck and his sweat-slicked skin against yours was incredible.  You never wanted him to let you go.
Heisenberg rolled to his side, pulling you with him, his cock still inside of you.  You lifted your leg and rested it atop his hip.  His fingers slid up and down your spine, making you shudder.
“You’re amazing, Y/N,” Heisenberg whispered, his lips pressed to your forehead, “so, so amazing…”
You closed your eyes, a smile spreading across your face, as you fell asleep in his arms.

The Bride C3
“My children, thank you all for coming. Lady Dimitrescu, you have my thanks for agreeing to host me, visiting your home is always such a pleasure,” Mother Miranda starts, all attention snapping to her immediately. The praise makes Mother smile, she dips her read in reverence. Miranda sweeps her eyes around at all of us, pausing on each of our forms in acknowledgement, I can nearly feel Moroe shaking when she glances at him. How pathetic. “I’ve asked you all here so we can review our progress, and make changes as necessary. Monroe, why don’t you start for us. How have the Cadou been taking?”
And so it goes around, everyone trying to earn Miranda’s love by saying how well we’re doing, despite no real progress being made. When her gaze finally settles on me I feel uneasy, unsure what she’ll ask me. Mother had been very clear that I was not going to be doing any real work in terms of changing anyone.
“Y/N, my youngest, I have a very important question to ask you. An honor, really. Please come here,” she calls, extending her hand forward. After a glance at my mother and a near microscopic nod of her head in permission, I draw forwards slowly, bowing my head in respect as I stand before her. “Please, daughter, look at me.” Monroe gasps audibly, he’s not allowed to look at her, not this close. Most of us tend to divert our eyes, only looking at her briefly. None of us have ever been specifically instructed to hold our contact.
Shakily my eyes skim up to her face, where a soft but chilling smile rests. She dips down ever so slightly, pulling my hand into hers, sending another shockwave of surprise from our company. Mother Miranda typically prefers not to be touched, so the fact she is initiating this contact makes me uneasy. What could she want from me that she feels she needs to do all of these theatrics to get it? Why does she think I need to feel special?
“Y/N. You’ve grown so much. I remember seeing you, still human, near death. The metamycite allows me to see such things, and my oh my, how you’ve blossomed. Of all my children, how it changed you really is the most amazing.” I can feel the chilled stares, clearly off put by the favoritism. “You’ve all become so much more than you ever expected, but Y/N? She’s still able to retain her form, identical to how she was before, even her newer form is still beautiful. It doesn’t fight to escape her, it helps her shine. She isn’t in danger from things that the other girls are, the cold does nothing to her.” Now I’m starting to get more nervous, all these compliments are certainly leading up to something big, something I don’t know if I’ll be able to give. “And so, as the one I’ve seen bond so well with the change, I have a wonderful question for you.” And here it comes. “I would never wish to take you from your true mother, but with your permission I would like to use your DNA, try to combine it with my beloved Eva’s. I truly feel as though we will have some great success if we do so.”
This even tears a shocked sound from myself and I have to steel every nerve in my body to keep from jerking back and out of her hold. She wants to use me to bring her daughter back? I didn’t even want this. Behind me a loud clap startles me from my frozen state. I can hear my mother thanking Miranda for her generosity, Moroe and Donna chittering between themselves, but Heisenberg is surprisingly quiet.
“Silence!” The room mutes instantly at Miranda’s words. “This choice is for Y/N, and Y/N alone.” She tips my head back up, staring through her mask into my eyes. “What do you think, my child? May I try?”
‘NO NO NO’ I want to scream, ‘no you can’t use me to try to bring your daughter back from the dead. You should just let me die!’ Instead I force a smile, pushing as much faux excitement into it as possible and nodding my head so fast I swear I can feel my brain slamming around. “Yes of course you can, Mother Miranda! I would be so honored to help you! Please, let me do what I can for you!” A smile spreads across her face at my external eagerness. Her hand strokes my cheek, before stepping back.
“Thank you, Y/N.” With that she essentially shoves her hand into my stomach, causing me to gasp and stumble slightly. And then just as quick as she did it, she pulls back, a handful of something in her grasp. Something inside me feels slightly out of place, shifting until it rests back where it thinks it belongs. “I must go now, bring this to my laboratory so I can begin trials.” With that she’s gone in a flurry of crows, leaving the five of us in silence.
Silence which is broken with a crash, and lots of yelling. My mother sighs, growling out my sister's names.
“Daughter, would you mind going and telling your sisters to knock it off.” She says to me, turning to face our company, “It’s time for me to show them out.” I dip my head in acknowledgement, turning and allowing my form to change. Much like my sisters I can essentially hold my full body form, but also shift into insects to move quicker. However, unlike them where they’re flies, I actually can become moths. Much more elegant, if you ask me, which is the only reason I ever even allow myself to do it.
For the first month after my change I had no control, phasing in and out of each form sporadically. I’ve grown since then, now able to focus it into certain areas if I wanted. It takes less than a minute to find where the racket was coming from. The three of them had taken to terrorizing our newest servant, the poor girl was backed into a corner in the study, brandishing a candelabra as if it would protect her. Judging from the state of her clothes and the blood stains they had already gotten a bite of her.
“What on earth do the three of you think you’re doing?” I seethe, their collective attention snaps to me in an instant. The girl lets out a pathetic whimper as I reform and stalk forwards. Bela laughs, twirling her blade around her fingers as she eyes me up and down.
“We were hungry, sister, what do you think we were doing?” She snarks, turning her gaze back to the shaking child, who curls deeper into herself. Cassandra and Daniela let out small confirmations, unable to keep their eyes on me longer than a moment before turning back towards the girl, eyeing her up like a lion would a gazelle.
“I think you’re all acting like imbeciles.” I snap, crossing the room in an instant and throwing them against the wall before latching onto the girl's shoulder and shoving her from the room. “Go get that bandaged, report to my  Mother immediately.” I demand, slamming the door behind her as she stumbles into the hall before rounding back to my sisters. “You three know better. Mother Miranda had barely left before your little stunt. Can you imagine how displeased our mother would have been if you had embarrassed her?”
Daniela rolls her eyes at my dull threat, Cassandra has the decency to look slightly wounded, but Bela? Of course she isn’t done fighting me yet. She takes half a step forwards, cocking her head to the side and smiling at me. “What? Afraid we’ll ruin your chances at being Mother Miranda's special little guinea pig? As if you deserve that. She should have asked us. We’re far stronger than you anyways.” She states, motioning to herself and the other two.
“Yeah,” Daniela says, crossing her arms and stepping up beside her, “You aren’t as special as she thinks. Anything you do, you know that we do it better.” Cassandra joins them, creating a wall of envy.
“You didn’t even want this, remember? Mother should have just let you die. She could have had us, we’re all she needs.” She tells me. Part of me wants to laugh, another part to scream. I wanted to die, I want to tell them, I wish she had let me. But if they thought they could be so much better, then I might as well show them why they’re weak. In an instant I’ve flown across the room, throwing open the window I had once escaped from, letting a harsh breeze of cold air flush the room. They screech at me indignantly to close it as they scramble for the door. I just smile, moving to stand directly in front of the billowing curtains.
“Next time you three start thinking you’re better than me because you were so prepared for this, I want you to remember one thing. You may have asked for this, but you are not stronger than me. I take more than some wind to hurt. Be careful who you try to play with girls, because unlike the maids, I’m not an ant for you to burn with a magnifying glass. You are, and no matter how much my Mother loves you, I am her real daughter, and out of the four of us? Take a guess who she would save.” With that I allow myself to drop backwards out the window, vaguely noting that they managed to get the door open and get out to safety. A feeling of serenity rushes through my veins as I drop. Finally being able to snap at them felt so good, even if later I end up regretting it. After the day I’ve had, there isn’t an ounce of regret in my body. It felt so good to be so cold, to say what I had been craving to say since they came into my life. They had all but imposed upon a life I didn’t want, tried to shoved me into a corner, tried to take what was mine. I am sick of letting people take from me.
God had dictated to take my life. My mother took my death. They tried to take my mother. Miranda wants to take my body. Take, take, take. No more. If this is the life I have to live, then nobody is taking it from me. Never again.

your ears were ringing from the intense blasting of the speakers at lee haechan’s monthly ragers. you didn’t know him too well, but your best friend, and platonic soulmate, jisoo, insisted you attend. you assumed it was because she had a growing crush on the party host, despite her constantly opposing the idea.
after taking your first shot of the night, something ignited in you. it had been a while since you let loose and enjoyed yourself. you often placed immense pressure on yourself in your studies, blocking out the outside world when you were in your element. jisoo cheered you on, clinking your shot glasses together as you both consumed the horrid liquid.
as the night rolled by, you had lost jisoo, assuming she was with haechan and the rest of his friends. you started to feel faint, your head whirling, eyes ready to completely shut. you felt yourself land harshly on the nearby couch, the group of teenagers who were seated on said couch, laughed hysterically at your state. you continued to moan and groan, your head pounding along with the beat of the song blasting through the speakers.
you could barely hear anything else, only a soft voice whispering to you,
“stay with me alright? i’ll take care of you”
the voice sounded familiar but you were far too drunk to even bother asking. you felt yourself being picked up, the figure now dragging you out of the house.
“gosh, you two are such a pain” the voice grumbles once again. your eyes started to flutter open, the blurred features of your best friend’s twin brother, jaemin, came into focus. he was visibly annoyed at the sight of you and your better half completely wasted. you noticed that you had been buckled up in the back of his car.
“good, you’re awake, now stay put until we’re home” jaemin sighed, closing the driver’s side door, starting the engine.
you didn’t remember much of the ride home, all you could hear was jisoo ranting about how haechan rejected her moves on him, and jaemin endlessly teasing her.
you were able to stand briefly as you exited the car, but jisoo on the other hand was utterly hammered. you helped jaemin pull her out of the car and to her bedroom. luckily their parents were away for the weekend, meaning they didn’t have to witness their daughter vomit on her bedroom carpet.
“oh my god, how much did you drink?” jaemin was practically pulling at his own hair. although you were tipsy, you were able to comprehend the situation at hand. you immediately ran to her bathroom, pulling out some cleaning supplies.
“you clean this up while i clean her up for the night”
“fine whatever” the boy rolls his eyes, holding his nose as he begins to scrub the carpet. you made your way over to jisoo, sitting close to her, starting to wipe off her makeup. she had practically passed out by now, only the sounds of jaemin furiously scrubbing and jisoo’s soft snores filled the room. you and jaemin had never really talked while you were over at their house. being jisoo’s day one, you found yourself basically living in her room, yet you couldn’t remember a time you properly hung out or even spoke to jaemin. you looked over at him, his face distorting with disgust at his sister’s mess. it made you chuckle slightly as you finished wiping off her makeup.
“what’s so funny?” he grumbled, walking to the bathroom to dispose of the garbage.
“i guess seeing you clean up your sister’s vomit was something i’d never thought i’d see you do” you shrugged, avoiding his glare.
“oh really? if anything, you two owe me big time” jaemin shuffled over to you, towering over both you and jisoo. your breath hitched once you realised how close he was to you.
“w-why do i owe you?” you muttered, looking up at him.
“because i saved you from embarrassment when others were laughing at how wasted you were” you blushed in embarrassment, attempting to hide your face from him.
“o-oh thanks for that then. i uh better get going” you stand up quickly, ready to leave the awkward situation at hand. but jaemin didn’t budge, he remained where he was, causing you to barge into his chest. he found your clumsiness amusing, holding you by your shoulders.
“you don’t seem too good to be walking home, just stay the night. i’m sure jisoo would want you here in the morning” he suggested, as you both gave the sleeping girl a solemn look.
“y-yeah, i guess so” your tired eyes meeting his. you had never been this close  to him before. he stared down at you with his deep brown eyes that were enough to make any girl immediately swoon. but this was totally cliche, falling for your best friend’s brother? please.
besides, you’d never go for a guy like na jaemin. he was a loner, although he did have a tight knit group of friends, that you knew of. jisoo was the more outgoing and popular one between the pair, sometimes you couldn’t fathom that they were related.
“here, i’ll help you out” jaemin wrapped his hand around your wrist as he pulled you to the bathroom. he began wiping the makeup off your face, being careful to avoid being too harsh. you were practically holding your breath the entire time. why the hell was he being so nice to you? this had to be somewhat weird, right?
“all done, i’ll let you get changed” he threw the wipe in the bin before leaving the room without another word.
you changed into some of jisoo’s clothes, feeling yourself start to sober up a little. there was a soft knock on the door, in which you answered. you were met with jaemin holding two glasses of water. he gently pushed past you, handing you a glass before placing one on jisoo’s bedside table.
“you tired?” he practically whispered to you, eyes not leaving yours.
“uh not really to be honest” you replied, taking a large gulp of water. jaemin nodded, biting the inside of his cheek before suggesting,
“did you wanna hang out for a bit? i get it if it’s weird, i just thought it’d be nice” he mumbled, eyes breaking contact with yours. you had never seen him so nervous before, it was sort of endearing. you nodded, following him to his room. it had been the second, maybe third time you had been in his room. the first time was when jisoo attacked him on the morning of their birthday with some birthday punches. you observed the various decorations he had up on his walls. some random band posters and some photography portraits were scattered all over.
“did you take these?” you questioned, admiring a particular portrait right above his bed head.
“uh yeah, i dabble in photography” he shamelessly shrugs, sitting down on his bed. you look over at him, too nervous to sit down with him.
“so this is kind of strange huh? i mean, i’ve known jisoo for years but i feel like i barely know you at all” you started rambling, slowly moving to sit at the edge of his bed, keeping a generous distance between you both.
“well it’s not like we’ve made any efforts. you two are inseparable, it’s sometimes insufferable being in the same room as you both” he decided to rant, making you giggle slightly.
“i don’t really know much about you though, as an individual”
“ah well there’s not really much to me, all i do is sleep, eat, study and occasionally drink at parties, it’s just an endless cycle at this point” you sighed, feeling yourself inch closer to jaemin, your legs swinging onto the surface of his bed. your shoulders were briefly touching, but neither of you made the effort to move away.
“here i was, thinking you were actually interesting” jaemin smirked, nudging you softly. you couldn’t help but roll your eyes, gently shoving him back.
“no but really, there’s gotta be more than that. i mean, i’ve seen you at school. everyone likes you, even the mean teachers. i’ve never seen anyone make Ms Kim light up, even if you were talking about some mathematical theory that no one else understood-“ he stopped himself, looking over at you. you couldn’t believe the words that were leaving his mouth. here you were, believing that he didn’t give a rats ass about your existence but you were wrong.
“so you seem to know me pretty well then” you teased, watching as heat slowly rose to his cheeks. he could barely look at you now.
“but i don’t know the real you” he softly muttered, pulling your eyes back to meet his own. you didn’t say anything back to him. instead you admired how gorgeous he looked under the dim lighting of his bedroom. you weren’t sure if the alcohol was making you act upon this or if you were just caught up in his words, but nothing was stopping you from locking lips with the dark haired boy. it took a moment for him to process what was happening, his hand immediately finding the side of your face, gently stroking it as he deepened the kiss. a voice in your head was telling you this was wrong (probably jisoo’s) but you ignored it. the next thing you knew, you were straddling him, your hands moving to his shoulder as you softly gripped onto his white shirt. he was the first one to pull away,
“should we even be doing this?” he muttered against your lips, pecking you one more time.
“probably not” you smugly smiled, pulling him into you once again. nothing more than a heavy make out sessions with some (possible) groping occurred that night. you didn’t say much to jaemin after, watching as he started to fall asleep. you had no idea what just happened,
did he like you?
did you like him?
you decided to sleep on it, hoping that in the morning, it would have all been some chaotic dream. you made your way back to jisoo’s room, sliding into bed next to her. as you rolled to your side, flashbacks of jaemin’s lips on yours and his hands wandering over you filled your mind.
you remember thinking to yourself, this cannot be happening.
//
the next morning, you were woken up by jisoo’s groaning. she started shuffling, pulling the shared blanket between you both, off of you completely. you decided it was a good time to get up and make your way home. you wrote a note for jisoo to wake up to:
‘hey there, drink this entire glass and take some aspirin okay? i spent the night and will return your clothes soon, rest well! - y/n ‘
you hurriedly grabbed all your belongings that were scattered all over her floor. once you were able to gently close her door without waking her up,
“rise and shine” you jumped at the deep voice behind you.
jaemin has a smug smile on his face, flashbacks of the previous night still lingering in his head. you just froze, your mouth unable to form a proper greeting. he was dressed in the same clothes as last night, a plain white tee and grey sweatpants. his hair was shaggy, random ends were sticking out all over the place. yet you still found him really attractive, wait what?
“i-i’m just gonna head home now, bye bye” you tried to push by him, but he stopped you almost instantly.
“do you wanna go get breakfast?” he suddenly asked, why the hell was he being so nice to you?
“i haven’t brushed my teeth yet, and i’m sure i reek of alcohol or something. maybe some other time” you weren’t sure why you were being so hesitant to spend more time with him. you knew that if jisoo ever found out something was happening between you two, she’d probably freak out and cause a massive scene. you wanted to avoid the theatrics of your best friend as much as possible. even if it meant rejecting one of the most attractive guys at your school.
“so you’re just going to pretend nothing happened?” he let out a soft scoff, in disbelief at your attitude.
“no, i’m not like that. i just- i don’t know what this is. it shouldn’t even be a thing. we shouldn’t even be talking right now” you groan slightly, beginning to walk to the front door. jaemin followed in suit, his figure standing right behind you as you reached the door.
“why are you being like this?” he furrowed his eyebrows, the tiredness in his voice still evident.
“it was my first kiss, jaemin. you were the first guy i’ve ever kissed. and i don’t want it to be weird when jisoo is around. can you understand that?” you explained, guilt rising in your stomach.
“i-i didn’t know it was your first kiss. but if you really care so much about what jisoo thinks of you, then that’s your problem. i’ll just pretend it didn’t happen either” he raised his hands in defeat, reaching over to open the door for you. he leaned closer into you, lips lingering by your ear,
“but i won’t forget about it, no matter how hard i try”
what the hell is this guy playing at?
you broke yourself away from him, rushing out the door, jogging to your house that was just across the road. it’s been a wild 24 hours, all you needed was a nice, hot shower, and to forget that you ever made out with na jaemin.
//
the following monday morning, jisoo came knocking on your bedroom door, waking you up for school. you shot out of your bed, your body thumping onto the ground. jisoo entered your room, and immediately bursted out in laughter.
“god you’re even clumsy when you’re asleep!” she giggled, pulling you up. you just groaned in response, shuffling over to your bathroom to brush your teeth.
“anyway, you are in big trouble” the energy in the room just dropped. you looked over at her, worried about the words that would leave her mouth.
“jaemin told me everything” she continued, making you want to shit your pants even more.
“w-what did he say?” you spat out the toothpaste that was in your mouth, eyes now focused on your sink.
“he said that he saw you wearing my new pink pajama bottoms!” you sighed in relief, thank god.
“i know that we have a bestie code and take eachother’s clothes a lot! but i just bought those and i hadn’t had a chance to even wear them yet” jisoo pouted, folding her arms before huffing. you shot her an apologetic smile, finally finishing washing up before you made your way over to her. you handed her the neatly folded clothes beside your bed,
“i’m sorry, they were the first thing i saw! i’ll buy you something from the canteen. can i be forgiven?” jisoo pretended to think, before pulling you into a short hug.
“ah of course! now get ready for school, i’m going to raid your pantry” she skipped her way out of your room. you let out another sigh of relief, not realising that your hands were shaking the entire time. why didn’t jaemin just expose you both to jisoo? maybe he was a man of his word.
you walked through the hallways, jisoo right by your side. your eyes were practically scanning for any sign of jaemin. according to jisoo, he hangs out with his ‘loser friends’ behind the science block. she always assumed they were doing something sketchy there, but you had never seen it for yourself.
“i-i gotta talk to Ms Kim about the quiz, i’ll see you during our free period” you lied through your teeth, but luckily jisoo thought nothing of it, you were always meeting with Ms Kim about your grades anyway.
you cautiously made your way to the science block, eyes still on the lookout for na jaemin. you saw one of his close friends, jeno (?) but there was no sign of him. maybe he didn’t even hang out here, you were about to give up and go back to your own friends, when you heard the familiar voice call out to you,
“y/n? what are you doing here?” jaemin made his way towards you, catching the attention of his entire friend group.
“i-i was looking for you” he immediately perked up. you knew he was about to say something cheesy, but he stopped himself.
“why didn’t you tell jisoo about what happened saturday night?” he pursed his lips for a moment, thinking of what to say.
“i didn’t feel like it was any of her business. it’s between us” he smirked at the last part, making you stomach feel uneasy, but sort of in a good way.
“i’m sorry for rushing out that morning. i just felt really awkward about everything. i don’t want you to think you’re like a bad kisser or anything like i actually quite enjoyed it” you stopped yourself from rambling any further once you saw how amused he looked. god he was gorgeous.
“you can keep going, i like hearing you talk about me” oh this was bad.
“s-so what? do you like me or is this all fun and games to you?” you tried to get to the bottom of this whole mess.
“i do have some interest in you, yes. i wouldn’t be opposed to seeing you more often and kissing you again” he shrugged, still showing off the same smug expression.
“same here” you blurred out. you brought your hands to cover your face, you couldn’t believe you just admitted that to him.
“then i guess i’ll see you around then. jisoo doesn’t have to know” jaemin slowly backed away from you, eyes still wandering over your figure. was he really checking you out right now? infront of his friends? you wondered how many other people saw you two.
to say that you didn’t think about jaemin for the rest of the day was a complete and utter lie. as soon as you got home, you couldn’t get him out of your head.
//
you were finishing up the last bit of maths homework for the night, when you heard something tapping against your window. you assumed it was some bird that was pecking at the window sill like many others had before, but as you stepped closer, jaemin’s shaggy black hair came into view. you quickly opened your window, dragging the taller boy into your room, careful that your parents wouldn’t hear.
“are you insane or just dumb?” you scold the boy who was dressed in a baggy black hoodie and those same grey sweatpants from saturday.
“both? i couldn’t stop thinking about you” his lip cocked into a smirk as he stepped closer to you, hands now rested at your waist. you were caught up in how good he looked, especially at this time of day. you didn’t realise how strange it was that he literally just climbed through your window with no prior warning. you pulled away from him slightly, still reserved about whatever was going on between you both.
“look, i just wanted to hang out with you, i swear! i would invite you to mine but your bff would just hog you the entire time” jaemin let out a soft grunt, slipping off his shoes and making himself at home on your bed. you moved to the empty spot next to him, letting him pull you in by your waist as he smoothly linked his fingers with yours.
“this just seems like it’s going really fast. can we just slow down for a bit? i mean, we don’t really know eachother that well yet” you explain, resting your head back on your headboard. jaemin looked over at you, admiring how the loose strands of your messy hair were sticking in all sort of places. and how your glasses were slowly slipping down your nose but you were too lazy to push them all the way back up. you were wearing your classic plaid pajama set, which jaemin found absolutely adorable. he reached over to your face, pushing some hair strands aside before gently pushing your glasses back up.
“well what do you wanna know then?” he whispered, aware that your parents probably wouldn’t want to walk in on their daughter with a boy in her bed.
“have you always, like thought of being friends with me?” you thought it was a dumb question to say out loud but jaemin seemed to be hesitant to answer, only making you more curious.
“i- honestly, yeah i have. i actually remember the first time i met you. i was with jisoo and we saw you sitting on the swings on the playground at school. we were kids back then, all we wanted to do was make friends. i was the first one to suggest we go over together, but then jisoo beat me to it” he stopped momentarily, looking over at you once again to see if you were still listening. you gently squeezed his hand that rested so perfectly in yours, as he continued,
“as any other ten year old boy would do, i just shrugged it off and found my own little group. i know this doesn’t really answer your question as it was a long time ago. but since you and jisoo clicked, and you started hanging out more, i couldn’t help but think, what would happen if i went up to you first?” you nodded along at his words, finding his way of storytelling so compelling.
“even if you approached me first, we both know that jisoo would have tried to snatch me in an instant” you both let out soft chuckles, both agreeing that jisoo was quite a character. “but after all these years, you’ve barely acknowledged me. i actually thought you hated me at one point” jaemin’s mouth opened as if he was about to speak before closing it slowly. he thought hard about what he could say to impress you,
“i never hated you. i just never got a chance to speak to you personally. jisoo was always there, and if we start dating or liking eachother, it’s probably going to get worse” jaemin admitted. there was a certain degree in which you understood what he was saying. but if you both ended up having true feelings for eachother, who was jisoo to stop you?
“y-you think we might end up dating?” you couldn’t hide how giddy you felt, leaning in closer to him, your noses gently brushing against eachother. jaemin smiled widely, his heart beating erratically. sure, he’s kissed other girls and even dated some, but none of them could compete with how flustered you were making him right now.
“i-i mean yeah, i don’t see myself with anyone else at the moment” jaemin whispered against your lips, slowly closing the gap. you moved your hand to rest on his shoulder as he glided his own hands to cup the side of your face. everything was so natural with him. you didn’t have to be nervous, or second guess yourself around jaemin. he made you feel safe, comfortable, like you meant something to him. things started getting heated when jaemin started rubbing small circles on your thighs, his lips still attached to yours. you weren’t sure how far he was going to go tonight, but your mind was clouded with how good it felt to kiss him again. jaemin’s lips started trailing down your jaw, to your neck, before you interrupted,
“h-hey, taking it slow, remember?” he immediately stopped, eyes filled with list as he looked up at you.
“anything for you, baby” he mumbled, placing one last kiss to your cheek. you both ended up chatting the rest of the night, telling stories from your childhood to the horrors of puberty. despite the fact that you both had school the next morning, you didn’t want jaemin to leave, and neither did he.
//
“i have a proposition for you” jisoo exclaims, pulling you along as you walk through the local shopping mall, in need of some retail therapy from midterms approaching.
“what is it now?” you playfully roll your eyes as sip on your bubble tea.
“i’m going to set you up on a date!” she practically squeezed you so hard you almost choked on the boba.
“w-who? what? when? where? why?” you couldn’t believe her sometimes.
“it’s with renjun, you know, the guy in our bio class. anyways, he’s recently single, you’re just single. and i think he’d be a good match for you!” she explains further, as you both take a seat on a nearby bench in the middle of the mall.
“what makes you think he’ll even be interested in me? did you threaten him or something?” you give her a subtle glare, still recovering from your choking experience.
“well i saw him looking at you a few times during class, so he must think you’re pretty at least” her logic never failed to entertain you.
“i’m not interested in dating anyone at the moment, please don’t tell me you already set it up” she looked over at you with a soft smile, moving strands of her hair behind her ear.
“god you already did” you groan in frustration. jisoo saw how annoyed you were. you know she had good intentions but you were capable of getting a date...if you really wanted one.
“i’m sorry, i just thought it’d be cute, you know since he’s friends with haechan and you know i have a crush on him. so i thought we could all hang out together!” she started babbling, but somehow you understood it all. you were going to do this for her, and her only.
“okay fine, ONE date, and it’s a group one” you firm with your best friend as she nods in compliance.
here goes nothing.
//
the evening of the double date, you were getting ready in your room. what were you even supposed to wear? your thoughts were interrupted by repetitive taps on your window. you glance over, seeing jaemin’s fluffy hair peek through the glass. you giggle lightly at the sight, rushing to open your window to let the poor boy in.
“hey, you won’t believe what just happened, jisoo is freaking out beca- woah, you look, uh really nice” jaemin stops himself, taking a moment to admire your look for the night. you felt your cheeks heat up immediately, turning away from him to hide them as best you could.
“t-thanks, why was jisoo freaking out?” you tried to draw back to his sudden outburst.
“oh yeah, she was asking me what boys liked, and if i thought haechan would like her back. ahh it was hilarious, she’s a nutcase” jaemin chuckled lightly, flopping himself on your bed, eyeing you closely.
“she’s just nervous! we’re going on a double date” you didn’t get to continue, as jaemin practically leaped from your bed, over to stand infront of you again.
“a double date? who are you paired with?” jaemin furrows his eyebrows, a wave of worry just washing over him within the past ten seconds.
“don’t worry, it’s just with renjun, a guy in our bio class. i’m only going to calm down jisoo, i’m sure renjun is a nice guy but-“ you hesitate, taking in a short breath before continuing. jaemin has his eyes fixed on you, listening to ever word that strung from your mouth.
“but what?” he whispered, his face inching closer to yours.
“but he’s not you” you finally felt a weight lift off your shoulders. your words only made jaemin confirm for himself that he was so completely into you. without another word, he pulled you in for a warm embrace, placing small kisses on the crown of your head.
“that’s all i needed to hear, have fun tonight. let me know if an SOS situation occurs, jisoo can get full on with her crushes” jaemin pulls away from you, fixing bits of your hair that be accidentally messed up.
“you say that as if she isn’t my best friend” you roll your eyes, allowing him to pat down strands of your hair as gently as he could.
“well sometimes i forget. you’re just that amazing, jisoo needs someone like you. i need someone like you” jaemin finishes what he was doing, his hands now moving to cup your face, softly squishing your cheeks together.
“let me know when you get home, i’ll come over and we can uh, lock lips” he started making loud kissing sounds, only making you push him away from you in embarrassment.
jaemin seemed fine with the idea of you going on the double date. you would assume so, considering you indirectly confessed to liking him. you just had to get through tonight, and then you and jaemin could continue whatever, odd friends with benefits but not really, relationship you have.

“so y/n, how did you do on the last bio exam?” renjun tried to make small conversation with you, trying to avoid the constant chattering of your friends. you appreciated how considerate he was being, considering you barely knew him or haechan.
“i think i did okay! how about you?” you continued, taking a quick sip of your strawberry milkshake. you were all sitting in a random diner that haechan recommended. you’d think after one game of bowling, a walk through the local park, and dinner at this diner, that they’d all be tired. but no, you forgot how energetic your friend was, and renjun was slowly starting to realise the same thing.
“the last few questions were challenging, i’d be lucky to get one of them right” you both chuckled softly, your eyes diverting to jisoo and haechan who were too caught up in their own world.
“did you want a ride home? i’m 99% sure haechan is going to offer to walk jisoo home” renjun offered, reaching for his car keys. you hesitated for a moment, nudging jisoo softly as she just waved you off. you rolled your eyes, opting to interrupt her conversation.
“renjun’s taking me home, let me know once you’re home okay? and haechan, make sure she’s safe” you sternly point at the cheery boy, who just nodded. you walked with renjun to his car, hopping into the passenger side. the ride was fairly quiet, he didn’t try to force any awkward conversation into you, thank god. all you could think about was going home and seeing jaemin again.
as he reached your house, you quickly gathered your things, ready to bid him farewell.
“thanks for agreeing to go on this double date. i had fun, i hope you did to. maybe we can do this again sometime, but maybe just us...” renjun stooped you from leaving the car. you widened your eyes at his words, was the really asking you out right now?
sure you thought he was a nice guy, but the ‘date’ didn’t seem much like a date to you at all.
“i-uh i had fun tonight, but i’m....actually seeing someone, i’m sorry” you quickly blurred out, even more shocked at your own words. renjun’s mouth was slightly agape, not expecting that answer at all. he pulled himself together, shaking off the entire situation.
“it’s okay, i understand. have a nice night” he gave you a small smile, but you knew it was filled with shame. you didn’t know what else to do but signal him a small wave as you exited his car and walked to your front door. you felt guilty for lying to renjun, but it wasn’t a complete lie. you started replaying the whole scene through your head. as you entered your room, you were met with jaemin looking all cozied you in your bed. he had an oversized hoodie on, with some plain grey sweatpants.
“ah you’re home, i queued up some videos to watch!” jaemin made his way over to you, pulling you in a for a tight hug. and just like that, all thoughts of renjun just washed away. jaemin was your person, one day you’ll be able to tell the whole world. but right now, you were happy with keeping it your little secret.
//
“what’s this i hear about you telling renjun you’re seeing someone? who the hell is it? because surely they have to be able to top this perfect dude i found for you” jisoo starts ranting on your way to first period the following day. your mind was still foggy, memories of the night you spent with jaemin, floating through your head.
“i-i just wasn’t interested in him. or anyone for that matter, it was a little white lie” you shrugged, trying to drop the situation completely. but she wasn’t buying it at all.
“there has to be someone, the last thing you are, is a liar” jisoo furrowed her brows at you, giving you a playful stank glare. you broke eye contact with her, rushing ahead to get to your class so she couldn’t pester you anymore about this situation. unfortunately, you felt your barge against someone with a very hard chest, they didn’t even flinch. you looked up to apologise, the playful glare of jaemin meeting your eyes. you quickly stepped back, pulling yourself together from that embarrassing scenario. jisoo ran up to you, softly giggling, before you saw her face fall at the sight of her brother.
“ugh it’s you” she scoffs, making sure you were okay.
“oh don’t act so happy to see me” jaemin sarcastically responded, eyes only fixed on you as if he has tunnel vision.
“leave poor y/n alone, it’s bad enough she has to see you when she comes over, don’t make it hard on her here” jisoo teased, pulling you away from him slowly. but jaemin quickly caught onto your arm, leaning down to your ear,
“i’m very sorry, y/n”
he had a hint of mischief in his voice, that you hoped jisoo wouldn’t catch onto. all you could do was not a mumble that it was okay, before jisoo completely pulled you away from him. seeing him at school everyday, while keeping everything a secret, was going to be a lot harder than you thought.
why did he have to be so alluring? so enticing? all you wanted to do was sit with him and talk for hours on end. maybe share a few pecks here and there, but as days went by, jaemin would engage in lengthy conversations with you. he would tell you about how spoilt and bratty jisoo could get, and how their parents would push jaemin aside, and support jisoo in all her studies and other extracurriculars, but they couldn’t even attend one of his photography exhibitions at school. he confided in you deeply, telling you things that no other soul would know. you didn’t know why he just lets it all out to you, but who were you to oppose? you loved listening to him talk as he played with your hair. you loved his lame jokes and stories about detention. you loved when he talked about his photography, how passionate he was whenever he talked about capturing the most beautiful moments through his lens. everything about na jaemin was close to perfect. you just wished you could call him yours, officially.
//
jaemin: meet me out front in 20 mins, i wanna show you something
your face contorted into a mix of confusion and excitement. you pulled on your most puffy winter jacket and some black boots, before slowly creeping out your front door to meet jaemin across the road. he was leaning against his car, dressed in a white hoodie with a leather jacket over it and some plain black jeans. you embraced him in a warm hug, as he chuckled into your neck and how adorable you looked in your puffy jacket. he placed a soft kiss to your cheek before opening the door for you, you kindly accepted, hopping right in. you noticed he had a suspiciously packed duffel bag in the back of his car, what the hell was he planning?
“so you’re gonna tell me why we’re going out at 11:30 at night? if you wanted to make out, we could have just done it in my room, my parents aren’t home, we don’t have to be qu-“ you were interrupted with his lips on yours, like many times before. his cold hands reached to hold your face, causing you to jump at the sudden touch. he stops kissing you momentarily, shooting you a smirk before continuing. as much as you were enjoying it, you were still curious as to where he was taking you.
“jaem, seriously, where are we going?”
you pulled away, lips slightly swollen. jaemin wiped his thumb gently over your lips, looking at you with such adoration in his eyes.
“we’re going somewhere i like to go when i need to clear my head, or just be alone. i wanna share it with you” your heart swelled at his words. how was he this perfect?
as he started the car, his hands immediately found its way to hold yours. your fingers instantly linking.
your eyes switched between focusing on jaemin, to your window. you weren’t really used to going out so late at night, never having a reason to. being with jaemin, made you feel like you were finally able to escape from everything else, even if it was temporary. there was a stillness in him that no one else was able to give you. he made you feel like you were doing okay, that you were going at a steady pace in life. jaemin was comforting to you, you wanted nothing to disturb this peace.
jaemin parked the car, tugging on your hand that you had arrived. you observed your surrounding immediately, where the hell were you? all you could see were trees and shrubs, as well as a gravel trail leading up a fairly large hill.
“you’re not gonna like murder me or something, right?” you cautiously asked, pulling your jacket to wrap around you tighter. jaemin chuckled at your words, pulling his fully packed duffel bag over his shoulder as he made his way over to you.
“don’t worry, baby. you just gotta trust me” he placed his free arm around you, leading you both up the hill. as you reached the very top, jaemin set down his bag. he pulled out a small picnic blanket, along with his camera equipment. you took a moment to grasp the view. it was a mini aerial view of your small neighbourhood. although it wasn’t a view of the entire city or pretty bright lights, you understood why he liked to come here.
“so this is my spot. i usually sit, take some photos and uh write in my journal” he sits down on the blanket, signalling for you to join him. you plop down right next to him, leaving no space between you. he pulled you closer, if that was even possible, his arms linking around your waist.
“it’s really pretty up here, thank you for sharing it with me” you leaned your head against his shoulder.  as you were admiring the view, jaemin was admiring a view of his own. your hair was slightly messy, the soft breeze blowing your baby hairs in all sorts of places. your glistening eyes observing the view that jaemin sought for comfort. but he found his new comfort place. and it was with you. wherever he was, if he had you beside him, he knew everything would be okay.
“why aren’t you saying anything?” you gently nudge him,
“i just like the quiet” he pauses for a moment before suddenly reaching for his camera. he removed his arm from your waist, which made you feel slightly empty inside. but he made up for it when he started fiddling with his camera, pulling it up to face you.
“oh come on, stop it” you hid your face with your hands, pulling away from him. jaemin moved his camera down, revealing the most adorable pout you had ever seen. you couldn’t resist his charms.
“ugh fine” you slowly pulled your hands away, allowing your lips to form a small smile as jaemin snapped the picture.
“you look gorgeous, as always” he mumbled to himself, not thinking you would hear him, but you did. the rest of the night was spent taking as many photos as jaemin wanted.
he was attempting to take a selfie with his camera, claiming the quality was much better than your measly phones. he held the camera up slightly, fitting both your faces in the frame.
“okay, three, two, on-“ you leant closer to him, placing a quick peck on his cheek as the camera flashed. his eyes shot over to you, a mischievous smirk washing over his face.
“you think you’re slick?” he mumbled, capturing you in another kiss, carefully discarding his camera to the side as he slowly moved his lips against yours. you felt yourself lean back under his grip, your back now laying on the blanket completely. jaemin leant over you, pulling away for a short moment,
“i-i think i love you” your eyes widen at his confession. love?
you hadn’t put too much thought on how you really felt towards jaemin. you knew you had formed a crush on him since day one, but love? you weren’t even sure you knew what love was. jaemin noticed how nervous you were getting, immediately becoming concerned.
“i-i’m sorry, i shouldn’t have put that on you, i’m such an idiot”
“no, it’s okay, jaemin. i just don’t know what it’s like to love someone, like how you say you love me” you admitted, his face still inches from yours, you hands now rubbing over his arms. jaemin nodded, completely understanding how you felt.
“but loving you, isn’t something i see as impossible. i’m falling for you everyday, i’ll say it back when i know i’m ready” you assured him, watching as his eyes glided over you. he couldn’t believe how unbelievably incredible you were. how you were able to accept his confession. jaemin was confident that you would return his feelings. he couldn’t wait for the day you would confess your love for him.
“you’re amazing” you blushed at his words, pulling him down to lay next to you as you wrapped your arms around him.
“thankyou for tonight, this can be our thing” jaemin couldn’t argue against that. this was now officially your spot. that would never change.
//
at the na family home, jisoo was furiously searching for her usb drive that contained the video for her audition for the school’s upcoming musical. she pulled at her hair, letting out multiple huffs and grunts. her thoughts led her to her brother’s room. luckily he was currently out with his friends, doing who knows what, otherwise she would have been dead. she sorted through his desk, assuming he may have taken it by mistake when she left it on the dining table the previous night. there were stacks of random papers scattered on the boy’s desk, she was slightly appalled at how unorganised he was. after a solid minute of shuffling, the bright yellow usb stick came to view. before she picked it up, a sudden notification appeared on jaemin’s laptop, he must have forgotten to properly shut it off. jisoo ignored it at first, until she noticed the all too familiar contact name.
y/n?
why on earth were you texting jaemin?
jisoo felt sneaky, already snooping through her brother’s desk, only leading her to his precious laptop. if jaemin caught her right now, he’d be furious. but jisoo couldn’t get over her growing curiosity, moving her fingers on the trackpad to open your messages.
y/n: hey, could you send the photos from a few nights ago?
jisoo furrowed her brows for a moment, what photos were you talking about? she swiped over to his desktop, a folder titled ‘special moments’ already opened. it was mainly filled with jaemin’s photography assignments and other things he found intriguing, but the last thing she expected to find, were multiple photos of her best friend and her brother on a date. she scrolled further, eyes landing on the photo of you kissing jaemin’s cheek.
‘are you fucking kidding me?’ she whispered to herself. it all started making sense to her. jaemin constantly sneaking out of the house on numerous nights, you avoiding her nightly facetime calls. how awkward you two would act at school, how you rejected renjun, claiming you were seeing someone else. jaemin was that someone else.
“what the hell are you doing on my laptop? or in my room, for that matter” jaemin exclaimed, storming to his desk. jisoo glared at him, bringing her right hand to slap him harshly on the shoulder.
“how could you?” she gritted through her teeth, pointing to the laptop screen. jaemin held his arm in pain, looking over to what his sister was so mad about.
“we- i didn’t want you to find out like this, i swear” his voice softened,
“you mean you didn’t want me to find out at all, did you?” jisoo couldn’t hide the fact she felt betrayed by the two people she trusted most in the world.
“i thought we were closer than that, jaemin. you used to tell me everything. and out of every person in the world, you choose my best friend?” jisoo still couldn’t fathom the thought of you together. in her mind, you were her friend first before you were jaemin’s girlfriend.
“not everything revolves around you, you know? i’ve been going through shit and you haven’t noticed in years! y/n is the only person who listens to me and makes me feel like i actually matter” jaemin practically shouts back at his sister, causing her to tear up. “and if you hadn’t noticed, we’ve been together for a while, i even told her i loved her” jaemin’s delivery for the last line ended in a sudden whimper. jisoo couldn’t believe what she was hearing, was she really that naive?
“you love her? did she say it back?” was all she managed to say.
“she hasn’t said it back to me yet. she’s scared, i know she is. she’s scared of what you’ll think” jaemin shuffled over to sit on his bed, feeling himself cool down from the confrontation. jisoo softly sniffled, remaining completely still.
“i can’t do this, don’t hurt her, jaem. she’s never been inlove and i don’t want you ruining her first love experience, she deserves so much better” jisoo scoffs, grabbing her usb in a hurry before slamming the door behind her. jaemin couldn’t believe his own sister would presume such cruel things about him. but he knew it was only a matter of time before it was your turn to get the heat.
*incoming call from nana <3*
“oh hey! did you get my text?” you started the call, gently folding your clothes from the wash. jaemin coughed slightly, unsure of how to bring up the conversation. you halted your actions before asking,
“are you okay? do you want to come over?” you quickly became concerned.
“she knows, y/n. jisoo knows. she was snooping on my laptop and found the photos. i’m so sorry” your heart sank at his words. you felt like your whole world was turning upside down. of course you knew that she would find out one way or another. but at such a critical stage in yours and jaemin’s relationship, the timing was just not aligning. you knew that jisoo lived for the drama and theatrics of things, expecting her to blow up the entire situation.
“was she pissed?” you nervously gulped, not ready to face the fury of your best friend.
“yeah, she said some things to me, i-i’m fine though. i just wanted to give you a heads up. i didn’t mean for this to happen” jaemin groaned, pulling at his hair as he thought of ways to soothe the situation.
“i’ll try and talk to her, i guess the truth is finally coming out” you sighed, immediately worry washing over you. this wasn’t good.
//
you hadn’t heard from jisoo in almost a week. to say you were worried was an understatement.
nana <3: uh she wants us all to meet, preferably at our house. she doesn’t seem too mad?
y/n: fingers crossed, i’ll be there in 5
you wiped your palms over your leggings, feeling your hands shake in anticipation. the walk over to the na’s house seemed like a lifetime. you were greeted by jaemin, who avoided pulling you in for a warm embrace like he usually does when you see eachother. he led you to the living room, where jisoo stood, her arms crossed over her chest, an unreadable expression on her face. you cautiously took a seat on the opposite side of where jaemin sat on the couch. jisoo’s glares flickered between the both of you, unsure of how to begin.
“i have gathered you both here to discuss this little...relationship, between you both” she started,
“is it even a relationship?” you looked over at jaemin who was already looking over at you. you had never put any labels on whatever you and jaemin had.
“w-we’re not dating” you mutter, eyes avoiding those of your best friend.
“then what? friends with benefits? have you guys screwed eachother?” she continued to hound down on the details. jaemin noticed how uncomfortable you looked, he needed to just be honest.
“no we haven’t screwed. we made out on the night of haechan’s party, the one where you were knocked out drunk. we brought you home and we found ourselves hanging out together for the night and we kissed. it started from there and we’ve just been seeing eachother regularly ever since” jaemin summarised, hoping it would  bring ease to her mind. jisoo was stunned, so it had been months since it all started.
“but you told me you loved her. do you love him back, y/n?” jisoo’s voice suddenly softened, allowing you to finally look at her.
“i-i do” jaemin’s eyes shot towards you instantly, a soft smirk growing on his face. jisoo’s mouths slowly widened, this was the first time you had admitted you loved somebody in the entire time she had been friends with you. jisoo moves over to sit between you both on the couch, leaning back slowly.
“why couldn’t you guys just be honest with me?” she sounded hurt at the thought of you both not trusting her. you held her hand in yours, noticing how she seemed choked up about everything.
“we just didn’t know how to tell you. especially since we hadn’t made things official yet” you explained, signalling jaemin to jump in.
“we wanted you to know when we both knew that we loved eachother and it wasn’t going to change” jaemin assures his sister, practically pleading for her blessing and forgiveness.
“i-i’m sorry for blowing up at both of you. and i’m sorry for ignoring you, y/n. it’s just so weird, the idea of you kissing my brother” jisoo started fake gagging, causing jaemin to give her a stank glare. you laughed softly at her antics, pulling her in closer to you.
“we didn’t want to hurt you, or make you feel like we didn’t trust you. we just needed time together” you continued to explain, jaemin nodding along.
“y-you guys actually don’t seem too bad together. as long as you’re both happy, i guess i’ll be happy for you too. just, no making out infront of me, please?” after hearing those words, you and jaemin tackled jisoo in a fit of tickles and hugs. her giggles and pleas to stop echoed through the house. everything felt like it had been restored in the world. everything was aligning for you and jaemin to finally be together.
//
that night, you left their house with the biggest smile on your face. jisoo was already knocked out on the couch after you three decided to rewatch all the high school musical movies. jaemin slowly crept you out of the house, grabbing your hand in his. he offered to walk you home, despite it only being barely a minute away.
“tonight was really nice, thankyou” you whispered to him softly, pulling yourself closer to him as you both stood on your front porch.
“s-so you meant what you said? you love me?” jaemin’s eyes met yours as he nibbles on his lip anxiously. you held both his hands in yours,
“of course i do. i love you, jaemin” you finally said it out loud to him. jaemin immediately picked you up in his arms, swinging you around gently before placing endless kisses all over your face.
“does this finally mean you can be my girlfriend now?” he stopped kissing you, his lips only inches from your face. you felt his breath fan over your cheeks, letting out a soft giggle. you enthusiastically nodded, pulling his lips onto yours. jaemin was taken by surprise, but he surely wasn’t going to complain.
“can i spend the night?” jaemin muttered against your lips, your eyes slowly opening to see his pouty expression.
“finally, you can come through the door for once” you both started laughing, rushing you to your bedroom where jaemin helped you remove your jacket. he pulled you gently over to your bed, slowly kissing your lips as gently as he could. you found your arms wrapping around the back of his neck, playing with his hair. jaemin let out a short grunt,
“don’t do that” he mumbled, moving to kiss your cheeks.
“why not?” you whispered, continuing your actions,
“because you shouldn’t start something you can’t finish” he admitted, pulling away from you. you held your breath before you spoke. you hadn’t gone further than some heated make outs sessions with jaemin, you always stopped him when you felt uncomfortable. but right now, it felt right.
“i-i want to go further” you finally admitted, watching as jaemin widens his eyes. he did not expect that from you at all.
“i do too, but uh contrary to popular belief, i’ve never done...it before” jaemin confesses, pushing someone strands of hair from his own face, feeling his cheeks heat up.
you had always assumed he wasn’t a virgin due to a lot of baseless gossip from kids at school.
“really? that’s...great” he looked at you with the most confused expression you’d ever seen.
“i-i mean it’s great because i’m a virgin too” you started to giggle in order to diffuse the tension between you both. jaemin let out a sigh of relief, you truly were the most person person in the world for him.
“so you’re okay with this?” he wanted to affirm once again, earning another enthusiastic nod from you, “yes”
let’s say, the rest of the night took your relationship to the next level.
//
“come on, you two! we’re going to be late!” jisoo hurriedly scurried around the house, looking for her new boots. you all were heading to another one of haechan’s parties. his reasoning was for the ‘mid semester break’ which really was just a long weekend but no one bothered to question him. jaemin opted to be the designated driver, like he always was.
“so are you going to make a move on haechan or what? it’s been months” you slightly teased her as you all entered the car.
“n-no, i can’t flirt to save my life. after the double date, he and i barely talked” jisoo huffed, fixing up her makeup.
“i’ll just have to have a chat to him then” jaemin chimed in, cheekily grinning at the thought. you knew he was going to be up to something, but jisoo decided to ignore her brother’s words, too caught up in her own mind.
as the three of you entered the house, haechan shuffled to greet you all. jaemin met him first, giving him somewhat of a bro hug, followed by you who loosely wrapped your arm around him. once he got to jisoo, he paused, causing her to look up directly at him. he softly chuckled before pulling her into his chest, making you and jaemin snicker in delight. you agreed not to drink much tonight, not wanting a repeat of the last time you got drunk. but jisoo on the other hand, was a complete mess as per usual.
“i’m gonna get some water, want one?” you offered to jaemin as he slowly allowed you to pull away from his warm grip.
“sure, love” you blushed at the nickname he gave you, rushing to retrieve the drinks. as you were in the kitchen, you heard a familiar voice next to you,
“y/n? hey how are you?” renjun’s voice chimed through your ears. you greeted him with a bright smile, slowly fading as you remembered the last time you properly spoke to eachother.
“i’m doing well, and you?” you continued the conversation, sipping on your own cup.
“yeah i’ve been good. you here with anyone?” he asked cautiously, but before you could answer, jaemin cut in,
“she’s with me” you felt his arm wrap around your waist, leaning over to grab his cup. you weren’t sure of what else to say, only able to look at renjun who seemed dumbfounded and a little embarrassed.
“oh, i see. you’re with jaemin, i should have known. have a nice night” renjun scurried off to meet his own friends, wanting to avoid you at all costs.
“you didn’t have to say it in that tone, you know?” you turned to face your boyfriend who had a playful grin on his face.
“i know, it just came out that way, i promise” he brushed his fingertips over your cheeks, making your face slightly heat up.
“jaemin!! y/n!! there you are!!” jisoo ran up to you, grabbing you into some sort of side hug. you helped hold her up as jaemin analysed how drunk she was.
“are you alright?” you questioned, trying to find a seat for her to rest. jaemin followed in suit, watching over the both you closely.
“yes! i’m great! haechan kissed me, well i kissed him and he kissed me back!” she started giggling. you both weren’t sure if she was being delirious or not. until haechan came to meet you all, asking if she was okay.
“she’s had a crush on you like forever you know?” jaemin teases, causing jisoo to slap his chest. haechan started blushing, slowly nodding,
“i-i’m aware. she’s pretty cute” he smirked, watching as jisoo hid her face in your shoulder.
“we should actually get her home to rest, and stop her from embarrassing herself further infront of you. but call her in the morning, yeah?” jaemin shook hands with the other boy, hooking one of jisoo’s arms over his shoulders and you copied with her other arm. haechan led you to the front door, bidding you all a goodbye. jisoo was mumbling endless compliments towards haechan, too drunk to even care what she was saying.
“like i wanna kiss him so bad and run my hands through his fluffy hair” she giggled as jaemin started the car. you both found the entire situation entertaining, recording bits of her rambling for future blackmail. as you reached their house, you helped jaemin lead her to her bed, much like the first time. once jisoo was tucked safely in bed, finally fast asleep, you changed into more comfortable clothes before hopping into jaemin’s bed.
“i’m getting some massive déjà vu right now” he teased, jumping right next to you as he pulled you to his side. you softly played with his hands as you placed small kisses over his knuckles.
“i’m glad you were there to look after us that night. otherwise we’d never be where we are now” you muttered, feeling frostiness slowly taking over.
“i’m just glad you’re here right now. i’m too used to climbing through your window. maybe you should come through mine sometime” he joked,
“i think we should start getting used to front doors don’t you reckon?” you retorted, causing him to pull you on top of him.
“don’t be such a smart ass” he mumbled before placing a chaste kiss to your lips. the rest of your night consisted of endless rambling and chatter on the most random topics, before you both fell asleep.
being jaemin’s girlfriend was always a secret fantasy when you were kids. but now you were wrapped in his arms, all you could think about was how happy jaemin made you. you were grateful to find someone who understood you, someone who cared for you, someone who gave you comfort. being inlove with na jaemin made you feel on top of the world. And if you’re lucky, if you’re the luckiest person on this entire planet, the person you love decides to love you back.

🅈ou received an invitation to a Halloween party… and that was about all the information you had to go off of. What awaited you at this gathering, you had absolutely no idea. The envelope had simply arrived on your doorstep at the beginning of the month, no messenger in sight.
This invitation, scrawled in perfect calligraphy and sealed with the kiss of a stamp upon wax, proved to be even more puzzling when you attempted to uncover its origin. And while you had asked around to anyone you could possibly think of— your friends, family, neighbors, hell, even your mailman— you found no one who could give you any answers. It seemed that you, for some reason, had been issued this invitation, when no one in your primary social network else had.
What was even more peculiar, was that a gown and a pair of heels had arrived two weeks later, in all senses more luxurious than you had ever seen, and tailored to your exact size and measurements. Just from lifting it out of the box, you could tell it was expensive. And as if that hadn’t been enough of a gift, a necklace and earrings that dazzled nearly enough to blind you arrived just a few days following the dress. Finally a last package arrived a few days before the party, containing an intricately-painted mask that tied the whole outfit together. Each of the gifts had a card laid across the top of the tissue-enfolded contents, signed off from your inviter and now confirmed “secret admirer, S.H.”
The enigma of it all perplexed you. You liked to tell yourself that a smart girl like you would never go to such an event, considering you had no clue who had sent you the invitation, let alone such extravagant gifts. You told yourself that you had no obligation to go, that it would be ill-advised to show up without any further information than the address, date, and time.
But someone had clearly gone to great lengths to impress you, and you couldn’t just ignore that. Curiosity burned bright inside you when raked your brain for potential inviters, and as you came to more and more dead ends, your intrigue grew with every second the event stayed on your mind.
You spent every day leading up to the party thinking about it, flipping back and forth as to if you were going to attend or not. Even on the night of, you spent a ridiculous amount of time switching between deciding on going or staying home, taking short bursts of either frantically getting yourself ready, or sitting down and scrutinizing the situation.
You ended up arriving at the address scrawled at the bottom of the mysterious invitation an hour late.
Although you had planned to just hail a cab thanks to your indecision, you were surprised to find a sleek, black Rolls Royce waiting for you at the entrance to your building. The driver, donned in a crisp black and white tux, sported an elegant mask across his face, and wordlessly opened the door for you, bowing and gesturing for you to enter. After a moment of hesitance, you decided it would probably be best to just get into the car— whoever had requested your presence had already gone to such lengths as to cloth and bejewel you— it only made sense for you to arrive in a vehicle that screamed as much wealth as did your outfit.
What you had not expected was to find the location of the event to be a rather estately manor at the border of the city. The driveway twisted through an ominous wood to reach the massive home, and rather nastily-spiked wrought-iron fences guarded the border of the property, looming metal casting eerie shadows against the overcast evening sky. You found yourself wondering briefly what exact purpose the metal lattice served— both sides adorned with rough silver spikes. Traditionally gates were meant to keep things from getting in… it was peculiar to you that they were double-sided.
It was certainly curious, but your eyes were quickly torn from the gates as the car ventured closer to the maleficent abode, your heartbeat beginning to pick up as you came nearer to the grand entrance. There was a gorgeous fountain laid between two sets of curved stone staircases, both leading up to the tall, mahogany doors at the dead center of the manor. The car came to a stop just before the fountain, and you spent the small moment your driver took crossing over to your side and opening your door in breathless anticipation.
The cool, dry October air felt heavenly against your exposed shoulders, the tops of your breasts just peeking out of the neck of the beautiful, sleek gown you’d been sent. The autumn chill did wonders to calm the thumping of your nervous heart, and as you climbed the stairs, your fingers trailing along the cold balustrade, you took a deep breath. When you chanced a look back toward the car, you found it had already disappeared, and a pang of uncertainty rang through you once more. Yes, this was definitely uncharastically brash of you— you still had no idea who could possibly be the one to invite you to such a prestigious soiree— and yet, you found your nerves crackling with excitement, barely able to contain your jittery disposition.
Two more men, also hidden beneath tuxedos and blank masks, bowed as they pulled the heavy wooden doors apart, revealing the bustling affair that lay inside. You were shocked to find so many bodies within just the first glance of the interior— it was a magnificent foyer that was ten times larger than the tiny apartment you had become so accustomed to, a sea of masked party-goers that ebbed and flowed with the live, string-quartet on the stage in the far corner of the room. Countless couples waltzed and spun across the middle of the room underneath humongous crystal chandeliers, all glittering and shining with the low lighting of a thousand candles, by far more fire hazards than you’d ever seen. It was quite a culture shock to you— you had never before been invited into the fruits of such luxury, this level of wealth as mysterious to you as the cryptic sender of your invitation, S.H.
And though this was your first time indulging in the pleasures of such extravagance, you looked like you belonged. You were sure that the outfit this mystery persona had given you to wear tonight was worth far more than the rent you constantly worried about making, and so you fit in quite seamlessly with the crowd of silk-enveloped, gem-encrusted faces, perhaps even going so far as to stand out. The soft silk of your pashmina tickled against your arms as it sat snug around your lower back, curled around your elbows and seams brushing against your hips. The thick necklace— more of a collar, really— sat heavy against your chest, each diamond shining brightly, leading to a large teardrop-shaped pendant of brilliant amethyst that hung perfectly in the middle of your chest. The ornate mask you’d been given concealed the top half of your face, bright ruby gems adorning along your eyes and matching your dress’ deep rouge to an impossibly perfect degree. Initially upon receiving such gifts you were suspicious of their authenticity, but standing now before such a display of affluence, you were certain they were real. The jewels and fine linens gave you a false sense of confidence, and after a moment of absorbing your astounding surroundings, you tentatively began to make your way into the party.
For a while you wandered around by your lonesome, but you didn’t really mind the solitude. It was a refreshing change of pace, and you admired each symbol of wealth you came across. The grand room was decorated with no expenses in mind— rich velvet curtains hung across the walls, tied back with gold corded tassels to allow the cold moon’s luminescence to shine down into the hall. Massive oil portraits lined the walls, each frame depicting a different person of undoubtable esteem, each in their own respect poised yet handsome as the last.
Your eyes wandered to the last two photos on the wall, both of them shockingly attractive in their own ways. One had wild, violet locks and a sultry smirk, the others’ hair split down the middle with tousled red and white, mouth set in an indifferent line. What stood out most to you was the emotion conveyed in both their eyes— it was cold and callous, sending shivers down your spine.
As you turned away from the portraits, you were met with a server, who offered you the silver platter he was carrying as he bowed. Tiny steak tartares, garnished with a red wine sauce and a sprig of herbs; the sight made your mouth water and you thanked him as you took one with the classy little fork he handed to you. Just as you turned your attention back to the portraits before you, you jumped at the discovery of a figure standing beside you.
He was tall, your head coming just above his shoulder, even in your four inch heels. He donned a crisp tuxedo of his own, but his bowtie was left undone, strips of fabric hanging loosely around his neck. Though there was a mask covering his face as well, you instantly recognized the purple flumes of hair, your surprise evident as you let out a small gasp. He didn’t seem to notice you, his eyes set on the frames above your line of sight, but he then began to speak, his deliciously deep voice taking you again by surprise. “Rather rare,” he spoke, quiet yet clear, eyes still scrutinizing the art before the pair of you.
“E-Excuse me?” you asked for clarity, wondering when exactly this man had appeared, and why you had not noticed such a captivating presence by your side.
At the sound of your voice, he turned his gaze to you, lazy violet eyes inspecting your figure without much attempt at concealing his blatant inspection. You bristled at his audacity, but soon found yourself relaxing as your own eyes wandered the length of his lithe, cut figure. It wasn’t your fault, you reasoned— you had just been admiring this man in his photo and now he appeared before you, looking even more delectable in person.
“The hors d'oeuvres,” he explained, eyes dropping to the forgotten disc of tender meat perched at the end of your fork. He let his gaze wander across your chest before he met your stare again, that same smirk coming to rest on his supple lips. “And such beauty as yours, of course. It’s unparalleled, Miss…?” he trailed off, angling his head to the side as he awaited your response.
You thanked him and told him your name, watching as his smirk only seemed to grow, something mischievous shimmering in those enticing amethyst orbs of his. He leaned forward and ducked into a slight bow, long fingers taking your free hand hostage as he brushed his lips against your knuckles.
“Shinsou will do, for now. Delighted to be acquainted,” he murmured as he pulled back, letting your hand drop and a brief silence fall on the pair of you.
Your eyes wandered to the portrait, then back to your new acquaintance. “That’s you, right?” You inquired, looking up at him through your mask. His bored eyes pierced yours as you met his gaze, and you felt heat accumulate in your cheeks. “What incredible artwork, I don’t think I’ve met anyone that’s posed for an oil painting— was it hard to sit still while it was being made?”
“Not at all,” he replied, taking a sip of the hammered-metal chalice in his large, gloved hand. “The fruits of life sweeten with patience, anyway.”
You wondered briefly if it was his first time posing for this kind of painting. Never had you met anyone who would want— or could afford, really— to commission such a painstakingly realistic portrait of themselves. How much it cost, you could not fathom, and did not care to discover. “So this is your party, then?” You continued after he made no further attempt at conversation.
He nodded, that smirk curling the corner of his mouth again. “You’re an observant little thing, aren’t you?” He remarked, sipping again from his cup. His words were rather rude, and you frowned before you shrugged them off, dismissing them in an instant. You weren’t really surprised by his smug comment, though your displeasure must have been visible because he immediately steered the conversation in another direction. “Are you enjoying yourself? May I get you a drink, my honored guest?”
It was a little off to you how his demeanor changed just like that, a flip of the switch, really— but you were thirsty, and you were curious to see what kind of expensive refreshments were available, so you found yourself nodding with a small smile of gratitude on your lips. He mirrored your smile before he mumbled something about returning soon, his figure swallowed up in the sea of masked faces.
Finding yourself alone once again, you went back to inspecting the portraits, happily humming to yourself as you enjoyed your hors d'oeuvre. You looked around the party, searching for that same waiter, wanting to grab a few more of those delicious bites while you had the chance.
It was then that you met a distinct set of eyes across the room, a white mask with delicate swirls decorating his handsome face. However much the mask concealed his face, there was no doubting that he was the other man from the portrait behind you— his hair was a stark giveaway— half of it scarlet and hanging loosely atop his brow, the other half a shocking shade of white, pushed back to give him a devilishly intimidating aura. Your throat tightened up as he began to make his way toward you, slowly but surely closing the distance between the two of you.
You couldn’t help but wonder if either of these men were the one who sent you your invitation— if one of them was to thank for showering you with such extravagance, for allowing you to dip your toes in the enticing pool of luxury. But you were not allowed to ponder the thought, for in no time at all the man in question stepped before you.
Without even a single thought, your body automatically shifted into a curtsey, and you blinked in surprise as he bowed his greeting in return. He didn’t give you a second to question it, lithe, gloved fingers taking hold of your hand and bringing it to his mouth. His lips were cold to the touch, and your hand trembled slightly as he let go.
“Todoroki Shouto,” he introduced himself, his smooth, deep voice resonating through your body. Something about him made you feel incredibly hot, yet you couldn’t take your eyes off of him. It was strange how much he seemed to affect you— almost supernatural. At your stunned silence, he smirked ever so slightly, shifting his head to look down at your shorter figure. “Your name, love? It would be rude of me to refer to you as the most alluring woman in the room the whole night, no?”
Flustered you were caught off guard, you quickly told him your name, adding on it was a pleasure to meet him.
“Y/N, hm? A beautiful name. It suits a woman as breathtaking as you.” He continued, and you could see how satisfied he was by your bashful reaction. “I can assure you, the pleasure is all mine.”
You smiled hesitantly at the man before you, unsure how to respond to his blatant flirting. With the momentary lull in your conversation, you looked over your shoulder to eye the painting once again. Todoroki watched your curious gaze like a hawk, unbeknownst to you. When you looked back to him, you smiled as you pointed your thumb over your shoulder. “Is that—”
“Would you like to dance?” He interrupted, folding your smaller hand in his and taking a step backwards into the dancefloor.
Panic coursed through you— you didn’t know how to dance, or at least, you didn’t think your ballroom skills would be nearly as good as his and everyone else’s here. Yet somehow when you opened your mouth to politely decline, instead came out, “I would be honored.”
With wide eyes you were guided into the center of the room, his other gloved hand coming to rest at the curve of your waist. Your hands found their own way into position, one on his shoulder, and the other wrapped tight around his as he began to steer you around the room. You were shocked to find yourself matching each of his steps, your feet moving in perfect harmony with his. But when you looked into his eyes, a trickle of horror ran down your spine.
He was looking directly at you, two-toned eyes boring into yours with unbridled desire, and some other emotion mixing in to create a frightful end result that could only be described as hunger. Yes, there was no mistaking it— that was hunger in his eyes— for what, you did not know, but somehow your body was aware that whatever it was, you were in for quite the night.
“The dress looks simply appetizing on you, love,” he whispered in your ear, chilling the blood in your veins just like that. “Were you surprised to find it fit like a glove? You look so angelic when you sleep… I hated to disturb you, but it was gratifying to know how much you enjoyed my touch...” His lips brushed against your dangling earrings, and a shiver ran through your body as he inhaled across the skin of your neck.
“Y-You—” you stuttered, eyes widening with realization. Had he— had he taken your measurements? He’d snuck into your bedroom? When? Why? You didn’t even know this man— why would he have taken such an interest in you, how did he know where you lived,  and why— why was your heart beating out of your chest at the thought of him seeing you in your sluttly little pyjamas? You knew there was something off about this, but never could you imagine this would be the turn of events tonight. You were terrified, and yet ashamedly, a small part of you was pleased to know a handsome and powerful man as himself had gone to such lengths to woo you. There was no denying it… even though your stomach was tied into knots and fear sat like a stone in your belly, a white-hot, irrefutable desire had sparked to life between your legs.
“Not just me...” he murmured, the tip of his nose dragging against your temple before he dipped you down towards the tiled floor right in tune with the crescendo of the music, your back bending in his grip. Now upside-down, your heart skipped a beat as you recognized Shinsou staring the pair of you down from across the room, that same smirk on his lips as he raised his chalice in contempt. “You’ve met Hitoshi, correct?”
You were only spared a moment to piece it all together, that tight feeling in your stomach only twisting further. S.H… it wasn’t the name of one suitor, but two— Shouto and Hitoshi. Two rich and powerful men that both tricked you into coming to their home, and you had fallen for it— practically serving yourself to them on a silver platter. You were no better than a damn steak tartare! You wanted to face-palm, to smack yourself for being so naive, but you found that your body was not your own; you couldn’t control yourself, couldn’t even speak, and all you could do was continue to dance with the horribly attractive man whose trap you had strolled right into.
Had they drugged you? Was it that accursed steak tartare? But then, wouldn’t you have passed out, or your limbs stopped working? How were you not missing a single step with Todoroki right now, spinning when he led you to spin, and willingly stepping into him when he pulled you back into his embrace.
“What… What are you going to do to me?” Your voice was shaking, even though your body moved more confidently than ever as the pair of you strode across the marble floor. “How is this happening?” You added, feeling quite small as the target of not one, but two predatory gazes.
Todoroki took his time to answer you, wordlessly twirling you in his arms as the music then came to a stop, a new melody beginning just as the previous one faded out. “Whatever we want, I suppose,” he answered, his gloved fingers traveling up your back to grasp your chin, forcing you to look into his chilling gaze. “But don’t worry, love… I don’t think you’re going to hate it all that much.”

It was only an hour later that you were being led to the other side of the mansion— away from the music and festivities, and away from the false sense of protection the crowd provided. Todoroki walked in front of you, and Shinsou’s hand rested casually on your hip as he walked beside you. Your palms were lined in a thin coating of sweat, your growing fear causing your pulse to skyrocket. You knew that you were about to understand why they had fooled you into coming here, and though you had pondered what terrible fate they had chosen for you for the past hour, your mind was completely blank. You could only watch as your feet moved one in front of the other, your body once again under their spell.
Whatever it was that they were doing, they somehow had complete control over you, and they had forced your body to dance with the both of them for the entire time you’d been there so far. It had created some fake relief as whatever it was they had planned was pushed off for the time being, but you couldn’t indulge such relief, and your nerves were more heightened than ever. You reached your breaking point when you entered a dimly-lit bedroom, and the door closed behind you, lock clicking into place.
“Please,” you pleaded, your body moving to stand in the middle of the room, right before the four-poster, canopy-laden bed. “Just tell me what’s happening, I can’t move a single muscle…”
Shinsou frowned, gloved hand coming up to discard his mask. Your breath caught in your throat— God, even if he was your captor, you couldn’t deny he was handsome. He slowly approached you, fingertips tracing along your jaw before removing your mask as well. He sucked in a small breath of air, violet eyes dark with a foreign sentiment. “Relax, baby… We’re just gonna make you feel good. We’ve wanted to make you feel good for so long now…” His eyes dropped to analyze your lips, entranced by their color and plushness.
“But… Why can’t I move?” you reiterated, and your eyes widened as Todoroki’s presence noticeably pressed up against your behind. The feeling of his body against yours sent your heart hammering, and you swallowed as you considered your options here— there was really only one means of escape and that had to start with you tricking them into freeing you from their spell. Licking your dry lips, you meekly added, “What if I… wanted to make you feel good, too?”
“Fucking Christ,” said Shinsou, who took a step backward, his palm coming to run across his face momentarily. He seemed on edge, anticipation distinctly painted across his rugged features.
Meanwhile Todoroki took his time to answer, considering your choice of words thoughtfully. “We have a lot planned for you… but we need to re-energize before we can do anything, love,” he replied simply, his voice low in your ear. He pulled off his gloves, cold fingers catching on your jaw as he turned your face to meet his. You whimpered as he leaned into you, and before you could make a single word, his lips claimed yours, cutting off any chance at a rebuttal.
You didn’t want to admit how good his mouth felt on yours, but you couldn’t ignore the butterflies that burst into your stomach as he kissed you— they were not the result of any foreign spell. Shinsou groaned as he watched Todoroki’s tongue slip into your mouth, actions getting more fervent as the dual-colored man’s fingers slipped around your head, cradling your face against his. His lips attacked yours, slotting against them and tongue wandering between the gaps. You gasped when something sharp pricked your bottom lip, automatically pulling back, your hand coming up to touch your lip.
Bright red stained your fingertip, and you looked between the evidence of your injury and the cause of the wound, eyes widening as you took in how dark Todoroki’s eyes had become, canines elongating into sharp fangs. Bewildered, you stayed frozen to the spot, unable to do anything yet again as his hand swiftly wrapped around your wrist, yanking your hand to his mouth and wrapping his lips around your finger. The feeling of his tongue swirling around the digit made heat flare in your core, even as terror began to pump through your veins. His other hand gripped your hip roughly, pulling your body flush unto his.
The desire to scream out in fear came quickly, but you found no sound came out of you when your mouth opened. Your head still turned to Todoroki, you didn’t anticipate Shinsou coming up in front of you, only noticing the other man when his tongue stroked across the tender skin on your neck. Your body stiffened as the wet muscle slid along your throat, your eyes wide and petrified.
“There you go, just relax...” Todoroki groaned, leaning in to suck on your broken lip, his tongue petting over the fresh wound gently. It stung, but at the same time it felt very intimate— something you had never done before that had that heat building in the pit of your stomach.
A set of fangs pricked your neck, Shinsou’s lips fluttering up toward your jaw. You loathed how soft they felt, a distinct contrast to the sharpened enamels that suddenly descended into your flesh. You cried out, unprepared for the searing pain that shot through your body. Your skin felt like it was throbbing, sizzling from the unwelcome heat and pain mixing together.
“Shhh, love,” Todoroki cooed, laying a gentle kiss on your open mouth. “It won’t hurt for long…” He continued to suckle on your lip, beautiful eyes staring deeply into yours as he cradled your face. The thin ring of iris around his blown pupils shone brightly in the low light of the flickering candles, brilliant aqua and stormy gray contrasting, mesmerizing you and momentarily taking you away from the pain of the fangs lodged in your throat.
Shinsou was moaning against your neck, Adam’s apple bobbing as he took his fill from your bloodstream. His hands were gripping your waist tightly, fingers wandering up your back to curl your body closer to his embrace. You were so out of it, so lost in the taller man’s gaze, that you almost didn’t register the growing hardness pressing into your inner thigh. Shinsou was gently rutting against your leg, pressing his crotch onto you as he held your limp body with surprising care.
The sharp pain of his fangs in your neck had transformed into a dull throb, your body slowly numbing to his bite. It wasn’t long before Shinsou drew back, tongue roving over the flesh puncture marks that laid on your throat. His tongue hurt at first, but the second and third swipe of the strong, wet muscle felt increasingly good, and you hated how your thighs twitched together at the feeling. Apparently the two of them knew you would be experiencing this effect, for they both started to move you backwards, wandering closer to the bed.
You could hear Todoroki get onto the mattress before the pair of them maneuvered your body to join his, lifting you up and setting you down onto the plush comforter before him. His hands slid to your front, down your stomach and perched on your hips, pushing them back so your ass met his crotch. Your eyes went wide as you felt Todoroki’s erection poke into your ass, and Shinsou chuckled darkly as he, too, crawled onto the bed.
Although you opened your mouth to speak, no words came out, and the purple-haired vampire before you winked as the smirk on his lips only grew. There was still a trickle of your blood tainting the skin on his chin, and his fangs poked out as he grinned at you.
“You missed some,” Todoroki stated, voice a bit rougher than it had been downstairs. Your head turned to look at him, but you found his gaze was not focused on you— he was looking straight at Shinsou, eyes darkening and teeth elongating into points.
“Saved it for you, have a taste,” Shinsou replied nonchalantly, scooting closer to you. The space between the two men’s mouths closed and you gasped as you watched their lips collide, a moan tumbling out of the man supporting your back. That horrible heat burst between your legs, your mouth watering as you saw Todoroki’s tongue slips into Shinsou’s mouth, their fangs clicking as they brushed together.
Shinsou chuckled as he pulled back, Todoroki’s tongue wandering down to trace the line of your blood that streaked down his chin. Shinsou looked at you as he grinned, clearly happy that their kiss had such an effect on you. “You taste so good, baby,” he complimented, and you whimpered as heat burst in your cheeks.
It was shameful how much this was turning you on— a monster straight out of a fairytale was here in front of you, feeding off of you, able to end your life he re really wanted to in probably just one swift bite— and yet your pussy was drooling all over your panties for him, an uncomfortable dampness collecting between your thighs. You couldn’t stop your hips from wiggling, but as you moved back from Shinsou, you pressed up against Todoroki, who let out a throaty groan. The swell of your backside pushed against his hard cock just right, and you gasped as his hands suddenly jumped to the hem of your dress, pulling it to rest at the tops of your thighs. Your pussy twitched as the cool air rushed across your sticky panties, and you mewled as one hand drifted up to squeeze your breast, the other slapping gently over your panty-covered clit.
Shinsou’s hands glided down your waist, large palms running over your hips before he grabbed your thighs, yanking you to the edge of the mattress as he fell to his knees. Kneeling between your legs, he chucked again as he inspected the wet patch on darkening the front of your underwear. His thumb met your slit and he traced it up and down a few times, grin splitting his smirk as you unintentionally let out a moan.
It was then that Todoroki’s fangs sliced into the unmarked flesh on the other side of your neck. You cried out, the pain just as stringing and intense as Shinsou’s bite had delivered. But you weren’t left to focus on it long— Shinsou pulled your underwear to the side and dipped a thumb into your soaking folds, rubbing up the length of your slit once again. The direct contact made your toes curl, your slick folds parting with ease as the ample evidence of your arousal allowed his finger to glide through without catch. He hummed as he rubbed his thumb against your clit a few times, violet eyes flicking up to see your eyelashes fluttering across your cheeks, Todoroki’s lips latched to your throat as he took his fill from your sweet bloodstream.
Todoroki’s fingers curled into the top of your dress, and he pulled it down to reveal your tits to the cool air, your nipples instantly perking up and standing at attention. The red and white haired man moaned as he sucked on your throat, his forefinger and thumbs capturing each nipple and twisting the sensitive buds.
“Fuck!” you whined, immediately embarrassed that you hadn’t been able to hold the expletive in. But neither of the men seemed to share your sentiment, the pair of them moaning softly in response to your noise of pleasure as if encouraging you to let out even more.
Shinsou smiled as he pinched the sides of your panties, yanking the material down your thighs and off your ankles before separating your legs and inserting himself between them. He gave you no warning as his tongue suddenly licked a flat stripe up your slit, rolling around your clit perfectly at the end of his journey. Your legs tensed as they closed around his head, a hot puff of air escaping you as Todoroki finally pulled off of your neck with a broken gasp. His breathing was ragged as his tongue lashed over the fresh marks, the repeated action having the same, dizzying sensation that Shinsou had elicited. Then Shinsou’s tongue was wiggling across your clit, alternating between sucking on the sensitive pearl and lavishing it in vicious swipes of his strong, wet tongue.
Meanwhile Todoroki was ripping off his clothes, revealing his broad, sturdy chest in all its glory before he yanked at the zipper on your spine, sliding your dress over your shoulders and tossing it onto the floor. Your bra was next, leaving you in just your sparkly heels and your glimmering gems.
You could feel both pairs of eyes inspecting your naked body, Todorki’s hands returning to tweak at your nipples while Shinsou thrusted his tongue inside your quivering hole. He moaned as his tongue probed at your insides, sending vibrations through your core and causing your legs to tighten around his head. Pleasure was coursing through you, overwhelming the urge to scream and run that had been all you could focus on just minutes ago. But your pussy was dripping for the both of them, and Shinsou was savoring every drop as he animatedly lapped at you— never before had anyone so enthusiastically eaten your cunt like this, and his zeal only made you leak onto his mouth even more.
You had been so focused on the man in between your legs that you only recognized Todoroki had fully unclothed himself when he moved backward, easing your head back so you lay flat on the mattress. Your pussy twitched violently on Shinsou’s tongue when you caught sight of Todoroki’s cock standing long and thick, tall against his carved abdomen, his expression dark as he shuffled forward.
“Open your mouth, baby,” he instructed and you obeyed immediately, as if you couldn’t follow his instruction any faster. Your eagerness made him smirk, and you made sure to keep eye contact as he rubbed the tip of his heavy cock against your sealed lips. But suddenly Shinsou started to attack your clit with new fervor, tongue flicking across the bundle of nerves repeatedly.
You couldn’t stop the moan that flew out of you, and as soon as your mouth was open, Todoroki pushed forward, shoving his cock deep into your mouth. You choked at the sudden intrusion, but he only grabbed your throat with one hand and thrust into your mouth even rougher than before. He didn’t seem to care much about your comfort, your heartbeat skyrocketing as the need for oxygen started burning in your lungs.
Todoroki pulled his cock out just in time for you to gasp in a few breaths before he rammed his cock back inside, powerful thighs pinning your head to the mattress as he leaned forward with hands on either side of your waist and head hung while he uttered a quiet moan. “That’s right, love. Go ahead and suck my cock… I want to hear you choke on me, naughty little thing.”
A wanton moan slipped out of you, his cock filling your throat to the max, and his rough, determined thrusts causing your pussy to flood even more. Shinsou was still licking at your cunt purposefully, tongue sliding around your folds and over your clit as he sucked and flicked it to your liking. You started to become more vocal as pressure began to build in your stomach, your hips writhing wildly underneath his pinning grip as Todoroki used your mouth to his liking. Your eyes rolled back as you felt your high approaching, unaware of Shinsou slowly but steadily undressing himself while he suckled at your puffy folds.
Todoroki’s thrusts became slower but deeper suddenly, and you swirled your tongue around his swollen tip when his hips receded. You were caught off guard when Shinsou’s lips left your cunt and instead his teeth sunk into the soft skin on your thigh, taking another sampling from your veins. This time, the initial pain was much duller, and it quickly faded into something concerningly pleasurable. There must have been some higher-level effect at play here— there was no way that such gleaming fangs stabbing into you and feeding from you should feel that good. Yet it undoubtedly made your toes curl, bliss spreading through your body like wildfire through dry grass. It only increased when a long finger slipped inside of you, a second entering with ease as they began rubbing inside of you gently. You could feel Shinsou moan into your pillowy thigh, the noise only making your cunt itch for his attention again.
You let out a desolate whine when both of the men suddenly pulled away from you, your pussy hotter and wetter than ever, and your cheeks dribbling with your saliva as a result of Todoroki’s face-fucking. It was then that you realized Shinsou was naked, too, your mouth watering at his visage; his cock stood thicker and shorter than Todoroki’s, but both of them were punching well above average, muc to your delight.
Todoroki slipped off the mattress and Shinsou walked around the edge of the bed, the pair switching and settling in reverse positions. Shinsou stroked your cheek sweetly, capturing your attention as he smiled down at you. You craned your neck to press a kiss to the leaking tip of him, your tongue poking out to swipe the salty bead of pre-cum that lay there. Your eyes went wide when you felt the telltale smoothness of Todoroki’s cock splitting your slick-drenched folds, his hands settling on your hips before he grabbed them, rutting his own forward and causing his cock to push halfway into your tight hole. The stretch made the both of you gasp, your wet, little hole hugging his large cock snug as he began to move his hips.
Shinsou had enjoyed the intimate moment but found himself getting impatient, slapping his thick, oozing cockhead over your lips to grab your attention once again. You looked up at him with wide, starry eyes, your mouth opening for him to glide his cock into your mouth. “Good girl,” he murmured, eyes fixating on the way your lips wrapped around his girth, the way his thick veins looked rolling against your tongue. Your cheeks hollowed in attempt to satiate him, but you instantly cried out when Todoroki’s hips slapped flush against yours, shoving his cock inside of your cunt entirely.
The impossible fullness that bloomed in your stomach was delectable, and Todoroki began to thrust into your slippery cunt at a reliable, hard pace. He let out a guttural groan as he watched his cock disappear into your slick folds, the heat of your pussy overwhelming him. He lifted both your legs over his shoulders, making sure to grab one of your ankles and pulling it upright so your leg was fully extended. Then, his fangs broke the smooth skin on your calf and you whimpered at the feeling. It felt so good to have him suck on your skin— to feel your blood flowing out of your body and into his eager mouth. It was sick, but you couldn’t think about it at the moment— couldn’t find any fault with the two monsters that were taking you to cloud nine.
“Fuck, just like that,” Shinsou mumbled, eyes flicking up to watch a rivulet of your blood strike down your outstretched leg. When he looked back down towards you, your eyes were closed and your brow scrunched, an indication of the pleasure that was ebbing through your body thanks to the cadenced swing of Todoroki’s hips. “You’re such a good fucking girl,” Shinsou praised as he threw back his head, his fingers carding through your hair and tugging gently at your roots.
Just as the three of you seemed to find a rhythm, Todoroki pulled out abruptly, making your mouth part in a whine, Shinsou’s thick member springing out of your wet cavern and into the cool, still air. The purple-haired man hissed in annoyance, gritting his teeth as he looked to the other man to scold him, but quickly his irritation melted as he watched Todoroki flip you so your stomach lay flat on the sheets. Then, he hiked your ass into the air, your body moving along with him with such cooperation that the pair of them shared a look, haughty smirks stretching on both their lips. It was their secret that they had stopped using their mind control on you, and it seemed you were the only one that continued, blissfully unaware. Perhaps you didn’t even realize… perhaps you didn’t care.
It didn’t matter, really— Todoroki lined himself up with your dripping cunt, taking no pause this time as his cock speared inside you once again. You moaned as you reeled forward, your fingers gripping into the duvet harshly as your body tightened up from the delicious intrusion. His long, thick cock felt like magic inside of you, each thrust brushing a soft spot nestled deep inside of you and stimulating you further.
Shinsou jerked himself off lazily as he watched your facial expressions, trapping his bottom lip between his sharp teeth as he registered the erotic ecstasy painted across your beautiful features. After a minute of allowing you to focus his accomplice’s hard cock, he pressed the tip of his own to your lips. You immediately opened your mouth, taking the flushed member between your lips with restless reception, tongue rolling around the swollen head. Shinsou sighed, half-lidded lavender irises watching you begin to eagerly bob up and down his length. He thumbed over a drop of blood that had rolled down your throat, catching Todoroki’s eye and offering his finger to the other man, who happily took the digit into his mouth and sucked, tongue soaking up your life essence as his hand wrapped around Shinsou’s wrist to steady himself. They both chuckled as you moaned loudly, Todoroki’s free hand clapping across your ass cheek and causing your cunt to clench down on his cock.
“You like that?” he teased, grabbing your flesh and shaking it, watching your ass jiggle before striking you again, a few smacks in succession. You could only gag and moan in reply, Shinsou’s cock thrusting into the back of your throat. The purple-eyed vampire gripped your chin with his calloused, cold hand, keeping your head in place as he began to fuck your face. Suddenly Todoroki spat onto your behind, his saliva wetting your puckered hole before he shoved his thumb inside of your ass, the unexpected stretch sending fresh bliss through your body as his cock dragged against it through your walls. Tears were beading on your lashes, the combination of the lack of oxygen, the attack of your g-spot from Todoroki’s cock, and the sharp pain of his hand across your ass all sending you hurtling towards your high.
With a shriek you came on his cock, your cunt wringing snug around the heavy member that just kept pistoning into you, angling your hips so the head pounding into that sensitive, spongy spot again and again. Todoroki groaned, taking his finger out and both his hands now squeezing at your hips as he continued to fuck you, offering a few more slaps to your ass as you trembled in ecstasy. While your head was still filled with the euphoric fog of your climax, Shinsou pulled out of your mouth, nodding to Todoroki, who wordlessly understood. The mismatched vampire hooked his arms around your knees, heaving you up against his chest and spreading your legs far apart enough for Shinsou to slide between them.
You were still catching your breath as Shinsou reached for Todoroki’s cock, slotting his thighs between the other man’s and positioning his length so that his slick-covered head rested right at your asshole. You gasped, your arm bending to dig your nails into Todoroki’s shoulder as you looked behind at him, catching his lustful gaze down at you. Shinsou then began to sloppily kiss your throat, his cock rubbing against your glazed, ravaged opening as his hands ran across the curve of your ass, landing on Todoroki’s waist behind your hips. The both of them entered you at the same time, your vision dotting with white spots as the stretch from both sides took your breath away. They both managed to slip inside, fully seating you onto their laps as you trembled, your stiff nipples brushing against Shinsou’s toned chest.
Todoroki nibbled at your ear as he began to pump his cock inside of you, filling your ass with each thrust and stimulating you as he rubbed himself against Shinsou’s cock through your walls. “So tight, love…,” he murmured in your ear, the prick of his sharp fangs on your cartilage sending shivers down your spine. His tongue wandered out and he traced the tip of it against the column of your throat, brushing over the leaking puncture wounds that laid there. “So sweet… can’t help myself,” his words turned into a savage moan as he sunk his fangs into your skin, the pain washing away abruptly as Shinsou, too, started to push his hips into yours.
Shinsou groaned, one hand coming to caress your chin as he claimed your lips with his own. His tongue entered your mouth and wrestled with yours as his tempo began to pick up, his cock stretching your cunt wide and sending waves of pleasure through your core. When he pulled back, you were both panting, your breasts heaving with the rapid rise and fall of your chest. It was then that Todoroki pulled away from your neck, gasping in a breath of air as his fangs glistened scarlet. Shinsou took one look at him and crushed his mouth to his, your holes clenching around their lengths as you watched your blood be exchanged between their ravenous tongues. The pair of them were moaning, and so were you— unable to keep the noises of pure pleasure inside as you watched them make out.
Your blood was dripping down Todoroki’s chin, and you couldn’t stop yourself from reaching over and grabbing his jaw, ripping his lips away from Shinsou’s and instead placing your mouth on his. He growled in approval against your lips, his tongue battling yours as he sought to dominate you, the distinct flavor of iron filling your mouth as you tasted your own blood. Shinsou took the opportunity to sink his cuspids into the other side of your throat again, and your jaw fell in response, Todoroki’s tongue seizing control of yours immediately as he grasped the upper hand. Both of them were full-on fucking you now, your holes warm and wet, quivering around their thick cocks as the brought you closer and closer to your high yet again.
Only the sound of your heavy breathing and the slapping of your skins filled the air in the room, the music of the party drowned and far away as the three of you were otherwise occupied. Before you knew it, you were clenching on them again, your body seizing as your orgasm ripped through you, all the air in your lungs vacuumed out of you and your toes curling into the air. Your fingers fisted Shinsou’s wild violet locks, your nails digging into Todoroki’s jaw as you tumbled through the throes of your climax, euphoria rushing through your bloodstream and straight into Shinsou’s awaiting mouth.
The sweet taste of your oxytocin, your drug-like ecstasy, sent him straight into his own orgasm, his hips pushing flush against yours as he roared and his cock spurted thick white ribbons deep into your womb, his seed pouring into you and filling you to the brim. His chiseled body trembled as he emptied himself inside of you, his fingers bruising your skin while he gasped and moaned. Your holes clenched as you milked his cock, and suddenly Todoroki, too, groaned loudly behind you. His hands squeezed your flesh as his cock spurted hot cum inside of you, his abdomen flush against your ass as he crushed your body to his front.
The three of you sat there on the bed, your bodies covered in sweat and remnants of your blood, breathless and still as you came back down to earth. Shinsou’s lips trailed along your neck, Todoroki’s fingertips sliding across your skin with gentle care as they pulled out of you. Their seed dribbled down your thighs as they maneuvered your boneless body back onto the pillows, your eyes fluttering closed from the pure exhaustion and the lack of blood in your veins. Each of them laid back on either side of you, their cold hands wandering over your skin and causing goosebumps to rise, their eyes roaming your body in pure adoration.
“You did so well, baby,” Shinsou murmured into your hair, pressing his face close to yours as he sighed and inhaled the sweet scent lingering from the blood on your skin.
“So well-behaved for us,” Todoroki added, wrapping an arm around your middle as he, too, nestled closer to your limp body. “Go to sleep, love… you deserve some rest.”
You hummed at their praise, tired butterflies flapping their wings in the pit of your stomach. Your head was fuzzier than ever, bliss weighing heavy in your bones as your breathing steadied. Filled with post-orgasmic content, the idea of fleeing that seemed so wonderful just an hour ago now sounded distasteful, your body comfortable lying on the silken sheets, pressed between your two lovers. As you faded into a blissful sleep, you could hear the pair talking lowly, making plans to keep you here with them in hushed voices.

Medium Despair
For @sapphireswimming
.
Danny woke up gasping for air and fighting against his sheets. By the time he’d recognized his surroundings, he’d already rolled off his bed. He dragged in ragged, shuddering breaths. He could breathe. He could breathe. He wasn’t suffocating. He wasn’t at school, in his locker or otherwise. He could move he could stand. He did stand, skin prickling with the memory of electricity.
“Sydney?” he called, softly. “Is that you?” He could see a glowing form in the corner behind his dresser, and with that dream there weren’t a whole lot of other people it could have been, but it was polite to ask. At least in Danny’s opinion.
The ghost slid out, slowly, flickering. “Sorry, Danny,” he said, and he really did sound remorseful.
Danny might believe it more if it wasn’t 2:20 in the morning on a school night, and this wasn’t the third time Sydney had done this. Still, Sydney was something like a friend.
“What is it, Sydney?” he asked. “Did something happen at the school?” Casper High was one of the most haunted buildings in Amity Park, which honestly didn’t make sense.
Danny had done his research. The school was old, sure, but Sydney was the only person who had ever actually died there. That didn’t stop the Lunch Lady, Technus, and a whole host of others from hanging around the place, although most of those others were pretty weak. Hardly strong enough to even interact with Danny or other ghosts.
Sydney shrugged.
“Then what’s wrong?”
Sydney looked down at the ground. The puddle of not-light he cast on the ground – visible only to only Danny and other ghosts – rippled and glimmered.
Danny frowned. “I have fun talking to you during the day, Syd, but I do have to sleep. I’m human, you know?”
“I know,” said Sydney.
“So why are you here?” asked Danny, briefly spreading his arms in exasperation and the dropping them to his sides again. He was still unsettled by the dream he’d just had.
Being close to ghosts while he was sleeping was just a recipe for nightmares. They weren’t always about their deaths, but more often than not…
Sydney’s death was a particularly unpleasant one. Danny did not expect to get back to sleep. Not tonight. Hence his annoyance.
“I need to…” started Sydney, before trailing off. “I need…”
“Sydney?”
“Warn you.”
“About what?”
“Not what they seem,” whispered the ghost. He looked away and phased out through the wall.
Danny’s frown deepened. Usually, Sydney was much clearer than that. Sometimes, talking to Sydney, Danny forgot he was talking to a ghost.
Danny sat down at the edge of the bed and tried to work a kink out of his neck. He caught himself scratching at his skin as if he wanted to pull it off a minute later.
It was always like this since the accident. Especially after he had a dying dream.
Forcibly, he stopped himself. His skin was fine. There was no electricity flickering under his skin. He was alive. He was safe. His body was his body. His body.
(He was not floating above it, light as air, staring at its waxy pallor, at the glassy, empty eyes.)
He was alive, alive, alive.
Awake.
Not dead.
Slowly, he laid back down on the bed. He was alive, awake. A medium, yes, associated with more ghosts than could possibly be healthy, either physically or mentally, yes, but alive. Definitely, clearly, alive.
He didn’t like it when ghosts woke him up. Especially when they came with ominous warnings about the future.
Maybe Sydney would let Danny track him down tomorrow, but Danny doubted it.
.
“Something’s off,” said Danny, staring up at the tall front of the school.
“Yeah,” agreed Sam, “it’s Spirit Week. When the teachers participate in medieval rituals to brainwash us into supporting the troglodytes that ‘represent’ our school in sports.”
“I was going to argue,” said Tucker, “but that is about what it’s for, isn’t it?”
“Yeah,” said Danny, “I don’t think it’s that. Probably. Unless there’s a ghost that appreciate the pun?”
“You appreciate puns.”
“I’m not a ghost,” said Danny, frowning at Sam.
“That’s true.”
Danny sighed. “I just have a bad feeling about this. I know you can’t see like I can, but… be careful. If you do see anything weird, let me know.”
“Hey, Danny!”
“Oh, I changed my mind. Kill me now, I want to be a ghost.”
Jazz ran up and threw an arm around Danny’s shoulders. “You left so early!” she said. “Are you excited about Spirit Week, too?”
“No,” said Danny.
Jazz paused, looked at Danny more closely. “You look terrible,” she said. “Maybe you should talk to the counselor?”
“Pass,” said Danny.
“You know, you’ll have to talk to me in more than monosyllables at some point.”
“Do I?”
Danny rolled his eyes.
“Anyway, I’ve got to go to talk to Mr. Lancer about my speech! Have a great Spirit Week, guys!”
She ran off.
“I will never understand her,” declared Sam. “But I think she does have a point about the counselor. Maybe they’d be able to help with the nightmares? At least the non-ghost-caused ones.”
“All my nightmares are caused by ghosts.”
“Eh,” said Tucker, giving a half-shrug.
“Will it make you feel better if I agree to go?”
“Yes,” said both Sam and Tucker.
“Ugh. Fine,” said Danny.
.
Danny walked though the deserted hallway, pass in hand, study hall abandoned behind him as he looked for the counselor’s office. He’d never been there before, but it should be around here somewhere, right?
A cold hand settled on his shoulder.
“You must be Danny Fenton! Your sister told me all about you.”
Danny turned to look up at a tall woman. She was dressed a lot more flamboyantly than Danny would have expected.
“Yeah? That’s me. Who are you?”
“I’m Penelope Spectra. Your counselor! Why don’t you tell me what’s wrong with you?”
“Uh,” said Danny. There was something unpleasantly an unexpectedly pejorative and assumptive about that statement. Weren’t counselors supposed to tell you that there wasn’t anything wrong with you? That your feelings were valid.
He shrugged. He couldn’t put his feelings into words.
(Couldn’t open his mouth for fear of cold leaking out past his teeth, his soul exhaled with his breath.)
(Why did he feel this way?)
“Why don’t you step into my office?”
The room was… not what he expected.
“Sorry about the dust,” said Spectra. “I’m just moving in. They upgraded me.” She smiled, showing all her teeth. “So… like I said, your sister told me a lot about you, and I have a few things I’d like to try for your laz—Excuse me. Your difficulty with staying focused. It happens sometimes with traumatic brain injuries, that a promising young mind can be—Well. In any case. I am here to support you and find a way for you to succeed. What’s troubling you?”
Danny’s ginger perch on the dusty chair turned into a frustrated slump. “Nothing,” he said. He pushed himself back up. “I should go—”
“Oh, just humor me,” said Spectra. “There has to be some reason you came. Anxiety? Stress? Social pressures?”
Danny shook his head and stood up.
“Nightmares?”
He sat back down.
.
Danny leaned over the table to whisper to Tucker during English, when they were supposed to be reviewing vocabulary words.
“Have either of you seen the counselor before?” asked Danny, after what was easily the worst week of his life. He was starting to have suspicions, but…
“Yeah,” said Tucker. “When you were in the hospital. He was pretty cool.”
“He?” asked Danny. “He?”
“Yeah?”
“I’ve been seeing a ghost for the past week.”
“Ghost therapist? Well, if it’s working…”
“It isn’t. She’s from hell. I swear. A literal demon from hell.”
“Exorcism?”
“Exorcism.”
.
Jazz didn’t often come to school after hours, but she’d left several important things and she was the student body activity director, voted for and everything.
Important thing #1, her speech, which she had to practice.
Important thing #2, the—what was that?
Already spooked by the late-night atmosphere, she ducked into a doorway and peeked at the place she’d seen movement. There weren’t many classes held down that hallway, and she didn’t come down this way often, so maybe she was just—
No. That was her little brother and his friends conducting some kind of satanic ritual over a wastepaper basket.
Their parents were terrible influences. She was going to give them a stern talking to when—what what what what WHAT—
What had she just seen?
She looked back around the corner to see the… whatever it was dissolve in smoke and fire and shadows. Then Danny and his friends started cleaning up as if this was a perfectly normal Thursday night.
Jazz… Jazz was going to process this. Later.
She turned around and walked straight back out to her car. There was, after all, nothing that important.
.
“So,” said Danny, leaning towards Sam on the bleachers as he watched his sister give her speech. “Looks like we saved Spirit Week.”
“Never say that to me again,” said Sam.
“But we did. Look at all this spirit-filled people.”
“You were literally the only victim.”
“But Sam~”
“It does seem less grim, though, doesn’t it?” asked Tucker, contemplatively. “You are no longer the goth bird of happiness.”
“Maybe a bit,” allowed Sam. “I think that’s just because everyone’s glad this week is over, though. No offense, Danny.”
“None taken. I’m glad it’s over, too.”

this is not a temporary love
Dinner is growing cold on the sideboard and TK seems to be halfway through what must be his hundredth apology when his phone pings, drawing everyone’s attention.
“He’s not coming,” TK says flatly, not looking up at them. “He says he’s sorry, and he’ll make it up to us.”

The dinner is growing cold on the sideboard, where his mom had insisted it be left until Owen shows up, and TK’s glances towards the door are growing less and less subtle. Carlos is trying to stay calm and keep things from turning sour, but there’s a slow anger pulsing through his veins, getting stronger the more time ticks on.
Tonight is so important for them - for Carlos, especially, because being able to host a dinner with his boyfriend and their parents had seemed like a faraway dream for so much of his life. He’s been so afraid of everything going wrong, and Owen’s tardiness is doing nothing to assuage his fear, particularly as he knows Owen hates being late.
He sighs and tries to tune back into the conversation, placing a hand on TK’s knee, which has started to bounce underneath the table. TK seems to be halfway through what must be his hundredth apology when his phone pings, drawing everyone’s attention.
Carlos watches with bated breath as his boyfriend practically sprints to grab his phone, his heart sinking at the way his face twists as he reads the message.
“He’s not coming,” TK says flatly, not looking up at them. “He says he’s sorry, and he’ll make it up to us.”
“Did he say why?” Carlos asks. TK wordlessly shakes his head, before he’s distracted by another message, and his expression changes to one of panic. Carlos rises, taking two steps towards his boyfriend. “Babe?”
TK chews on his lip, gripping his phone tight in his hands. “He- He said his lungs are causing him some trouble. I don’t… Carlos, I…”
He shakes his head again and Carlos walks over, taking his hands in his own. He tilts his head to catch TK’s eye, dropping his voice so it stays between the two of them, very aware that his parents are watching everything unfold.
“He’s okay, TK. If something were really wrong, he would have called, not texted.”
“You’ve met my dad, right?”
Carlos grimaces; TK has a point. “So you call him, then,” he suggests instead. “I’ll get dinner on the table and you can check up on him, then we’ll go from there if you’re still worried. I’m sure it’ll be okay, though.”
TK hesitates a moment, then nods, flashing Carlos a small smile. “Thanks.”
Carlos smiles back, squeezing TK’s hands once before heading back to his parents.
“¿Está todo bien, mijo?” his mom asks, sending a worried glance in TK’s direction. Her concern for him sets off something warm in Carlos’s chest - this is another thing he never thought he’d get to have, and it still feels surreal, even now.
“Sí, sí,” he responds. “Owen had surgery this week and he’s not feeling well so it’ll be just us tonight. I’m just going to get dinner sorted and then we can start.”
“Te ayudaré,” his mom declares, and Carlos is powerless to stop her as she accompanies him into his kitchen. Not that he wants to really; he’s missed cooking alongside her more than he realised and her presence and support is a comfort right now. It all feels so natural, and it’s almost enough to draw his mind away from Owen’s glaring absence and TK’s worried murmurs in the background.
Almost, but he can’t help but sneak glances behind him to try and gauge the situation. TK has started pacing and his lip is probably bleeding from how hard he seems to be biting down on it, but it doesn’t look like he’s actively freaking out, so Carlos takes it as a sign that nothing’s badly wrong. He sighs in relief, startled when a hand lands on his arm. He looks over to his mom, who smiles gently at him before, without warning, shoving plates into his hands.
It’s so normal that Carlos could laugh. Or cry. Possibly both.
She swats at him in a good-natured gesture to get moving. “Go on,” she says. “I fear your father will start eating the tableware if we don’t feed him soon.”
Carlos laughs and heads over to the table, seeing TK doing the same. He raises his eyebrows at him but TK just shakes his head, an unreadable expression on his face as he drops into his seat. A second later, the charming smile from before is back on his face, bright enough that it’ll probably fool his parents for the rest of the evening.
But not Carlos. He can see the tightness in TK’s expression and he files it away for later, to bring up when his parents are gone and they no longer have an audience. For now, though, he’ll just have to content himself with being by TK’s side, a silent show of support.
*
Any nerves Carlos might have had about the evening are gone by the time his parents leave. Dinner went smoother than he could have ever imagined, his mom even managing to extract TK’s full name from him despite Carlos’s exasperated requests for her to leave it be.
“What?” she’d asked, rolling her eyes at him. “I’m curious.”
TK had laughed, stopping Carlos before he could protest again. “It’s okay,” he’d said, before turning to his mother. “It’s Tyler Kennedy, but I’d really prefer it if you just called me TK, Mrs Reyes.”
“In that case, I’d really prefer it if you called me Andrea, TK.”
Carlos still half feels like he’s dreaming, especially when his mom whispers in his ear when she hugs him, “I really like him, mijo.”
His dad is more taciturn, but he still gives Carlos an approving smile and nod - which, when it comes to his dad, is everything. Carlos can’t get his grin off his face as he lets them out, turning to TK as soon as the door shuts behind them.
“That went well, right?”
Except, now that they’re alone, TK’s façade has dropped, his shoulders slumping heavily. He still manages a smile, but it doesn’t reach his eyes, his voice sounding incredibly tired as he says, “Yeah. I really enjoyed it, babe. I’m beat, though; do you mind if I just go to bed once we’ve cleared up?”
“Of course not,” Carlos replies, his worry spiking. “Everything okay?”
He nods, and Carlos knows it would do no good to call out the lie right now. They clean up the room in silence, TK stacking the dishwasher and rinsing the glasses while Carlos wipes down the table and surfaces.
TK kisses his cheek briefly before trudging upstairs. Carlos waits a few moments, straightening things that weren’t really out of place to begin with so that TK can have some time alone, then follows his boyfriend to their bedroom, leaning in the doorway. TK is sitting on the edge of the bed, head braced in his hands, but he slowly raises his gaze to Carlos’s, his heart breaking at the despair in them.
Carlos immediately goes to him, allowing him to slump into him. He rubs his hand up and down his arm in a soothing motion and waits.
“My dad’s hiding something from me,” TK eventually mumbles, a surprising bitterness in his tone. “Again.”
“Why do you say that? Do you think he was lying about not feeling well tonight.”
TK shakes his head. “He sounded a bit hoarse on the phone,” he allows, “but it was more than that. I can’t really explain it, but I’m sure there was something he wasn’t telling me and I don’t know how to get him to talk about it.”
“It could be nothing,” Carlos suggests, not really believing himself even as he says it.
“Yeah, right,” TK scoffs. He sighs heavily, extracting himself from Carlos’s arms to flop back on the bed. “I thought we were past this. I thought we’d finally gotten through to him.”
“These things take time, babe,” he says, smiling ruefully. “We can’t expect things to change overnight.”
TK sighs again. “I know,” he says quietly. A few beats of silence pass, then he sits up suddenly, grabbing Carlos’s arm to steady himself. “I’m sorry, I’m making this all about me again.”
“No -”
“Carlos.” TK grins, though there’s still something wan behind it. “I really did enjoy tonight. Your parents are great.”
Carlos can’t help but smile back, leaning in to kiss his boyfriend. “They like you too, you know. I expect you’ll be getting an invite to Tía Lucy’s soon.”
A brief look of terror crosses TK’s face, but Carlos kisses it away, wrapping his arms around his boyfriend. They fall back onto the bed together, foreheads pressed together, and Carlos allows himself this moment to breathe.
For the first time in over a decade, a weight lifts from his chest, and he knows everything will be okay.
