• Things that 100% count as veiling, besides scarves:
- Hats
- Headbands
- Bandanas
- Hair clips
- Hair jewelry
- Hair circles
- Ribbons and bows
- Caps
- Bonnets
- Beanies
- Hoodies
- Doing your hair, such as braiding it, letting it down, or putting it in a bun or a ponytail. Your hair itself can be a form of veiling. Mine certainly is! When I put it up in elaborate hairstyles with all kinds of accessories, or brush it out into an afro, it is a form of protection, spirituality, strength, energy, and inspiration!
- And other things such as shawls, skirts, dresses, chains, belts and beads, and anything else you can clip onto your clothes, waist beads, necklaces, bracelets, stickers, makeup, nail polish, glasses, shoes, etc. Just because they’re not on your hair doesn’t mean they can’t be a veil!
You can also have a color mean protection and wear it!
- Anything can be a veil! If you take anything at all, an item or your hair, or a color, and put your energy into it, it is veiling!

My Veiling Experience
So why did I start veiling? I started to veil due to my lack of focus in my craft and going to school. I also kept feeling extremely drained after going to school for a few hours and then coming home.
So I wanted to try something. Veiling ended up being suggested by my sister and some other friends of mine. I did some more research and thought, why not? Let's give this a go for at least a week.
Tumblr media
So I started with what I could use for a veil. I had bandanas but due to my location, it was not the best to wear it if I didn't want to accidentally be associated. So I moved to what can I make? While I do crochet, I didn't have buttons for it to tie up. But I had an idea, fabric. I have been sewing recently and this was the perfect way.
So I measured my fabric like a bandana and began cutting. I spent most of the night just cutting the fabric up. While I had them blessed on my altar and placed crystals with the properties I wanted, I wanted to use oils.
Tumblr media
I didn't want to directly put onto my veil as it only would have that scent in one spot. So I thought of something from Dollar Tree. Spray bottles. They are the perfect size. So I could add a few drops of the essential oil and shake with the water. From there, I could spray the entire veil with that scent.
Since then, I have felt calmer and more focused with my work. I do like to wear them when I'm outside the house since I don't feel nearly as drained. I also enjoy that I can focus better.
~~~
So here's my little journey on veiling. Hope you enjoyed it! Reposted from my Amino groups
It’s literally 3am but I found a loop hole to veiling in the summer, vintage 1920,30,40, and50s vintage working “women” veil styles. I tend to style them with a victory roll in the front of my head to look more vintage but it’s a loop hole to still veiling and not dying in modest clothes. While pagans that veil don’t have to dress modestly, someone of us still do with a full veil on out of respect of Muslims, as we tend to look Muslim or people assume we are in our full veils. Just thought I’d share if you’re like me and over think things a little too much.
Here is your reminder that veiling does NOT have to be with traditional veils!
It's okay to veil with a hat.
It's okay to veil with a bandana.
It's okay to veil with a scarf.
It's okay to veil with jewelry.
It's okay to veil with oils.
It's okay to veil with perfume.
It's okay to veil with a simple cleansing.
Heck, it's okay to veil with hair binding!!
It's okay to veil with ANYTHING, and to prove it, here is my veil for today. It's a new hairstyle I'm trying out! (Also, a face reveal?? omg!)
for pagans/witches who veil or cover their hair for their practice full time, do yall consider modest clothes essential to your veiling or do you still wear what you want? i’ve seen this debate among the community and am interested in seeing what everyone has to say!
for reference i do veil for my practice, just not everyday and i tend to still wear what i want but with limitations!
I want to talk about this and share it with y’all so here goes. I”ve been veiling non and off lately and there’s nothing wrong with that at all. While some days I wear my full veil and such. Other days I just don’t or I wear a snap back or something. And I’d like to remind y’all that if you’re a veiled pagan/witch that it’s okay to take a day off if you want. It’s also a reminder that not just scarves can be used to veil. Maybe this will help a new pagan or witch thinking about veiling but don’t know where to start or doesn’t want to jump into it face first. Also free protection tip using moon water , Florida water, holy water and drawing protection runes or sigils on the back of your neck, forehead , and palms also work give a spiritual veil of protection if you aren’t wearing a veil that day or you can’t wear a veil to wherever you’re going. Blessed be :)
