The Monospitovsko Blato is an area of wetland ("blato" means "marsh"), devoted to conservation, nature and eco-tourism, with distinctive long wooden jetty-like plank platforms built out over the marsh for bird-watching and fishing, and an incredibly rich variety of wildlife - insects, flowers, fish, birds, lizards, mammals, amphibians... - some I believe unique to this place. Some people say there are even spiders that eat fish. O,o
Very highly recommended for anyone interested in nature - anyone at all in fact. Afterwards you can go and have a raki and a chat with the local people in the square in Monospitovo village, which is a pleasant, peaceful little place too.

Hey there, it's a long time ago since I posted something about Macedonia, but I didn't forget about my little blog. ;) Here a beautiful picture of a monastery in Matka, near Skopje.
Here a link to an article I once wrote about the great place Matka:

Text
We are all humans
Hey there...! :)
This blog is about the country Macedonia.
Macedonia has many problems with other countries, especially with Greece, Albania and Bulgaria. In this text I don't want to explain what the problems are, I just wanna say that I don't have any problems with people who live in Greece, Albania and Bulgaria. (In every state there are some nationalists, but I really don't want to talk about those underdeveloped humans.)
Sure, I don't like the way those countrys act against my conutry Macedonia, but that don't have to do nothing with the people living there, that's the fault of the governments and some politicians.
Connections and relationships between states and nation are definded by much more than just a handful of people who argue because of ... nothing! The way to a peacful life on the Balkans is that we accept each other and that we see each other as humans and individuals and not as marionettes of the prevailing governments.
I hope I get somewhere with that text and I hope out there are other people thinking like me, would be really great if you like this text and reblog it to spread it as much as possible. :)

I'm on holiday, but i saw this an i really have to post it.
A protest against the Treaty of Bucharest, it says that Macedonia is divided in three parts. One part is for Greece, one for Bulgaria and the last for Serbia. The part that should have been added to Serbia could be saved and is the Macedonian Republic today.
If you want to know a bit more, here is a link to another post of me about this theme:

I had some thoughts about this picture… today this monastery is a very beautiful place for tourists, but in the Middle Ages there were monks living there, with garden and praying and that stuff…how it was living there…? :)

Centre of Skopje, capital of Macedonia.
I really have to say something about this picture and I hope you'll read it.
A lot of people say, this is nationalism and that's not good, the macedonian government exaggerates.
But it's important to know the political facts on the Balkan to understand why in Skopje there are that many statues of macedonian heroes.
The problem is that Macedonia was divided in 1913. More than 50 % of its territory were given to Greece, to be a strong state against the turkish empire. To Bulgaria they also gave 20 % of the territory.
Millions of Macedonians in this territories were killed or forced to live anywhere else. For this crime there is an ugly word: Genocide.
Today the governments want to hide this crime, becaus they have to pay very much for this crimes. So they say: No, there is no Macedonia, Macedonians don't exist, they are just evil persons who try to fake a state. The problem is that over the half territory of Greece is fake, because they stole it from Macedonia.
But Greece, also Bulgaria, are members in te EU, Macedonia not, so Macedonia has no chance against them.
And because that many governments deny the real existence of a macedonian state and his history, the macedonian government has to build that many patriotic statues, to show who they are.
That's not nationalism, that's a try to save the macedonian identity.
Like if you are against this horrible game that is played with Macedonia, like if you are for the truth!
