I feel like it’s that joy for life and experiencing things that Krolock has seen fade in each and every other vampire, including himself, and it hurts each time to see people damned to just dragging themselves through year after year and at some point you stop really noticing the changes and it all gets monotonous. If it wasn’t for Herbert Krolock probably would have become the same way, just as miserable with his existence as all the vampires in the graveyard.

y’all I had the most WILD day

so me, my parents, and my little sister went out today yeah? We drop my little sister off at the mall to hang out with her friend. Then me and my parents head to a different mall to go grocery shopping

so we’re pulling into a parking complex, when my mother spots a woman wearing shorts. This lady is filipino. The country I live in has a lot of Filipino immigrants. So she makes a comment about how they all look the same and they’re always the ones she sees wearing shorts.

I don’t agree with any of that but saying anything will get me in trouble. Anyway so my dad chimes in and goes “yeah and they’re the ones with the most transgenders here”

keep in mind, this country is incredibly hostile towards the queer community in general. All of it is illegal here. Also my parents have never made mention of the queer community ever. I didn’t even know they knew it existed. And he just dropped it so casually.

so while I’m processing that, I manage to say “oh, I didn’t know that. I thought that kind of thing wasn’t allowed here”

and he goes “why not? They’re all humans after all”

so now my entire WORLDVIEW is tilting. I am shook. again I say “huh. I thought this country didn’t tolerate stuff like that.”

and he goes “oh no it’s not that. It’s lesbians they don’t tolerate”
