Poob - I think they are a dumb little critter. They run around and their arms flail in the wind like paper. When they try to clap is makes dog toy squeaking sounds. I don’t think they abide by the rules of physics which is why they are stupid looking ❤️ they have hammer space but it is only for weed related items. The curator of the forever weed brownie, if you will. I think they sound like X from bfb. Aroace (😈)

Pest - literally hates poob because they are small and annoying. Uhhh funky legs because I think he would have funky legs. I stole his eyes because well no real reason, but I think if he was like extra pissed you would see his eyes. Since he is like thief maxxing I do not think he would be wearing anything beyond a hoodie and sweatpants, something trying to be non-assuming I guess. He has hair I think but it is very short no way would he want to deal with that. I don’t have a voice hc for him yet. Aroace (😈)

Bive - she a freakkkkk ehhh. I think she is like freakishly tall, has funny bird legs, raggedy ass scrawny tail, and is constantly covered in hair. Her teeth are kinda just floating on her hair head, so if you punched her hard enough they would just go flying out and she would have to put them back into her head silly girl. I think she is also trans hahaahhahahahaha!!! I think she kinda sounds like ENA from dream bbq, the uhh angry side I believe. Ace (😈)

Split - I gave her dog ears because I think they are cute :) she’s probably like normal ish height Bive is just weirdly tall. She looks very nice and friendly but could probably throw a boulder at you and you will die sowyyyy. Gods most chillaxxed soldier. She gives me kind older lady feelings, even if she weren’t older. I dunno she would be like one of those people who have a comically large purse full of hard candy except it would all be banana flavored. I think she has a slower voice, HAVENT gotten an exact idea for her voice yet but she seems very calm. Ace (😈)

Pilby - I didn’t really add or change their design because I already liked it a lot. I think they are very sweet and kind looking, would make a great plush too but I guess we are not ready to talk about that (YES I am still bitter about it) I think being around them is akin to looking outside a window at an apple orchard while it’s raining a bit. I think they sound a bit like raggedy Anne, based on the creators response too. Aroace (😈)

Spud! - I honestly did not have much come to me for his design, they are just a bit of a funky feller and im not sure how I would add to it honestly. Oh but I do think that they run like an ostrich and it is very scary. Also while drawing I was debating why he had a bow and decided that Gnarpy was like CONGRATZ IN ZURVIVING THE TEZTZ and now Spud! Just has a stupid little yuor did it ribbon. Honestly no clue for voice hc… aroace (😈)

Gnarpy - had a lot of fun with xis design honestly. The redesign reminded me a lot of Stitch so I kinda just shoved that into xim. I think they act a lot like Zim. Like a lot. Probably equally as stupid. I think xis second arms are retractable, like stitch, and xe uses that as a very very shitty disguise that everyone can see right through but just don’t mention because xe seems to be having a good time. I think xe sounds like Four from BFB (the earlier episodes mostly) aroace (😈)

DRRETRO - I think that her head that we see in the game is like a projection of herself, Wagstaff Don’t Starve style. Her body would be like excruciatingly normal besides her head, too. Like go to the hospital and see a nurse, that’s just what she looks like. Very normal, it’s a bit unnerving since her head is that. She’s like those overly friendly posters in a very uncomfortable place type of feeling. She doesn’t have fur either, she’s just a weird cat doctor thing. She acts exactly like Doctor Barber from Flapjack. No voice hc, but she speaks in meows so probably just meowing. Aroace (😈)

Mark - I started thinking about tf2 and Anton blast. Anyway, he is completely made from wood other than the clothes. Beard is carved in, not sure if I got that across in the drawing though. Uh yea I don’t have much I just really like engineer. He wears flannel and a construction vest just like any good law avoiding construction worker. Definitely does not so legal things on his construction sites but does not give two shits about that and also probably would try to employ Lampert when he was younger for free workers (no im not projecting what are you talking about). How on the nose would it be to say he sounds like engineer because I just drew wooden engineer with a beard. Ace (😈)

Wallter - sorry wallter fans I had no ideas while drawing him. I dunno he’s big and he’s cement, so I kept him blocky. Urrrrr he has a can of grey stuff jingle jingle. He is the cement embodiment of that one tweet that’s like “nothing better than a glass of wine, except for maybe #men. #yep #imgay! He kinda seems like one of those lowkey scary bald gay guys who are nice but are also scary and still bald. He’s bald. No idea on voice maybe concrete sliding on asphalt for 10 hours. Ace (😈)

Kung Fu Panda 4 Review

Ok, I saw the movie yesterday and I have some thoughts. I think the film is good, but no where near the level of the first two. It's more like the third tonally. But tbf, nothing can top the second film in my opinion. KFP 2 really stepped up in its depth both in terms of its villain and message. The fourth film is very much the opposite. It's also very predictable and you can easily figure out what was gonna happen pretty early on.

What I liked: the animation is still gorgeous. Seriously, there were some very visually pleasing shots. The character models all looked great and I thought it was cool how the villain still has scales when she transforms. The music is also really nice and fun to listen to. The voice acting was also good and I thought Awkafina did a good job (major step up from Scuttle).

Po's dads were also really fun when on screen. It's nice to see them bond over Po and they do work well off of each other. They were the best part of the film, animation aside. The villain is also pretty cool with her abilities. We will talk about her more in a bit. And I did like Zhen and I'm looking forward to see what they do with her in the future. She's energetic and I did like her design.

What I didn't like: too. much. comedy. Ok look, I know this is an animated film for kids, but what made the first three films (particularly the second one) so good is that the balanced the jokes with depth. This film does have some messages, but it's intercut with so many jokes during dialogue that it takes away from it. They really needed to let this film breathe and have more serious moments to just talk and let things sink in. The villain brought back the old villains and stole their abilities (this was in trailer so not really spoiler). Why don't they do more with that? There is so much untapped potential here.

And that's my other big issue with the film: so much potential. Some of the ideas in this film are really, really good, but they only scratch the surface with it. I wanted to know more about the villain. I wanted to see our fave villains interact more. I wanted to see the villain use her powers more. But we don't get that; we only get the bare minimum. In simpler terms, there's no big "wow!" moment that the other films had.

Spoilers below (tread carefully)

Why did they bring the villains back if they were going to do almost nothing with them? The climax of the film was the Chameleon stealing the villains' abilities and fighting Po but we pretty much saw that in the trailer. Tai Lung gets to do some stuff, but I wanted more. Half of his lines were jokes anyway and I didn't vibe with it. Why did they bring him back if he was just gonna comment on things? I don't remember our favorite snow leopard being this comical. He did quip, but there was still a hardened edge to him. Idk. Maybe he got therapy in the spirit realm. Shen and Kai get crumbs, but again, they could've done so much more. And wasn't Kai destroyed completely?

With Shen and Tai Lung, I would've wanted to see more. I'm glad Tai Lung did finally come to respect Po and it does make sense. But Shen? The last time we saw him he rejected Po's help. Unless he too got the same spirit realm therapy Tai Lung did, him bowing to Po does feel very OOC. Nitpicking further, why was Shen brought back anyway? The Chameleon presumably doesn't know who Po is and Shen isn't a kung fu master. With the exception of the fanservice route, this choice only makes sense if the Chameleon was aware of Shen's actions in Gongmen and thought his level of evil would fit her vibe.

Nitpicking aside, there was so much opportunity for Po to confront his villains again and have a deep, serious moment with them. Whether either side likes it or not, they're reunited for a short amount of time. Why not capitalize on this great opportunity?

Speaking of the villain, so much untapped potential. Her design is great, her abilities are really cool, and Viola Davis does a good job voicing her. So why doesn't she get to do more? Imagine a really cool fight sequence where Po confronts her, but she shifts so much that it begins to mess with his head. Or she transforms into the older villains and Po is caught off guard? Instead, we get half the climax spoiled for us in the trailer. What was really cool about the other three was that we got multiple fight scenes with them to showcase their abilities. Thus, the final battle dialed it up to an 11 and we got a truly epic finale. Here, it feels like there should've been more, but there wasn't. Even her backstory feels lacking. It's there... but only surface level. Even Shen, arguably the cruelest of them all, had nuance and depth.

Also, why couldn't we get more of the Furious Five outside of a glorified cameo? Tigress and Po friendship is truly amazing.

As much as the jokes miss, there are some good bits. Shifu trying to deal with Po's shenanigans always crack me up. I also like the bit where Po tries to meditate and his thoughts get in the way. Because hey guess what, that's what my head is like and it's really freaking hard to quiet it down. So, there's that. I just wish the writers didn't feel like they had to insert jokes in almost every line of dialogue, you know? Li and Ping dad adventures are great except half the lines are jokes about how worried they are for Po or how not tough they are. Why not have a deeper conversation? I think it would make everything feel more natural.

I also wish Po himself was a tad more mature. I'm not expecting Shifu or Tigress levels of seriousness, but I felt that he kinda was a bit too childish. Po is one of those characters who loves to have fun, but knows when he has to be serious. However, he also likes to lighten things up with comedy. In this movie, it felt like he only really leaned into the comedy side of things. He had his moments, but I'll be honest, I really missed the "the only thing that matters is what you choose to be now" levels of dialogue. The proverb joke got old real fast, ok?

Grace Randolph from Beyond the Trailer described this movie as episodic and I can see it. The story bits are very segmented between the villain, heroes, and Po's dads. The flow and pacing of this film really needed to be upgraded.

Ok, that's all I got for now. I'm sure I'll think of something else to say (aside from encouraging everyone to rewatch KFP 2 because I'll never get enough of that film).

50 Days of HypnoKink - Day 49: Hypno in Media

My heavens... we made it to the finish line. Tomorrow is the final day.

I wanted to save an obvious one for the end because I do so enjoy MC in fiction so very much. So much, in fact, that I made a Twitter thread with 110 recommendations and never even came close to emptying my resources.

I know so many of these scenes, both that Twitter thread and this page are skimming the surface.

I'll be using some of those recommendations here but let's divide by category:

Film

So let's get the obvious out of the way. You have

Trance

A Danny Boyle thriller with a terrible plot and Rosario Dawson as a hypnotherapist trying to get hidden information from James McAvoy's mind. Silly movie but one that doesn't get brought up a lot. Dawson learned hypnosis to get into the role.

Candyman

Horror movie in which the director literally hypnotized the actress so any time she was being stalked by the titular killer she looked completely entranced. Link above is an interview discussing this.

Hypnotic

HORRIBLE movie on Netflix but Sleepyhead and I have hosted a number of watch parties and let me tell you, this is the PERFECT movie to watch with a bunch of rowdy hypnokinksters. The therapist is unethical to a laughable degree and his office looks like it's inside of the Death Star. He's a living breathing red flag. The movie does have a really hot freeze scene, a good ragdoll and the dollification sequence. It's just enjoyable because it's terrible. Check CWs first though, this movie has a bunch of things that can make it an uncomfortable viewing experience.

The Great Hypnotist

This is a Not For Daja movie. A Chinese movie that doesn't get brought up a lot. Like Trance above it is a thriller with some twists and turns that I don't really want to spoil.

Stir of Echoes

A visualization of a dissociation induction designed to make a person view events on a screen so they are separate from the memory. It's a remarkably well done scene.

Now You See Me 1/2

The hypnosis in these movies is STUPID and I love it. The first movie has a punchline that every time Mark Rufallo's character makes a frustrated comment people who Woody Harrelson has hypnotized will start acting as if they're in an orchestra. Second movie has a twin Woody Harrelson as an evil hypnotist and he uses a pizza box as an evil induction. It's amazing.

Sherlock Holmes Woman in Green

This induction is one of the coolest I've seen in a film and I try my hardest to channel the energy of this when I am doing a relaxation focused scene.

TV

Charlies Angels

This is bar none my favorite hypnosis scene in any fiction. The typewriter induction is amazing, the hypnotist has such a smooth voice, the entranced gazes are lovely. It's just perfect. Heck, the link above is "hypnosis scenes" from the episode and is 26 minutes long. From a single episode of television.

Doctor Who

Sarah Jane gets hypnotized so often that I could make a list purely from her.

Legion

I just wanna link this one as it's one of those scenes that works so much better without context and the aesthetics are incredible. Plus who doesn't like Aubrey Plaza?

here's what I could research about the staff highlighted to be working on Black Butler season 4 in the time and patience that I had right now.

Kenjiro Okada: Director

I did some casual gathering on the good ol Wik. I don't recognize a lot or any of the previous works that he has been a part of, but it is a plenty some, so feel free to take a look for yourself. for a better idea, I took a glance at him through IMBD as well. I gotta be honest, not to cause any concern but just to be blunt, it's not the best look. when briefly checking out the works that he's done, a good some of them only make it up to 6 stars. only a few actually make it up to 8. but of course this could be due to a couple different factors, such as the source materials being not well known, or just not that great to begin with. after all he works mainly with adaptation. this could be his big break idk maybe :>

further on that, here's something I borrowed from Wiki.

honestly, this could be a potential concern as well. we all know that an unfortunate part of the fandom, especially over in japan, is into things the rest of us would rather not see in anime. I don't know why else yana would continue to add fan-service time and time again(I'd rather not think of her personal preferences). so if this person is really interested in pandering to the fanbase, it may lead to some scenes being uncomfortable... as usual. but, I shouldn't focus on the negative, all in all this looks like it will be a good thing! all we want from an anime adaptation is for it to be faithful to the manga, and especially after season 1 and 2, I think this assurance is much needed. besides, this could be an indication that he will be working closely with Yana, and projects that do so have succeeded *points to campania*. I'm optimistic, and I sure hope that we're in good hands.

Hiroyuki Yoshino: Head Writer

so unless I'm looking at a different Hiroyuki Yoshino it looks like this guy is a voice actor and singer first... interesting. as far as I can see it, he hasn't voice acted anyone in Black Butler.

oh no yea completely different guy, my bad! very different. the Real Hiroyuki Yoshino(screenwriter) was the screenwriter for Book of the Atlantic! sorry. we're all good here, perfect in fact.

Yumi Shimizu: Character design

I'm not really jumping out of my seat to research this one, no offense to the designer, but I don't think we'll be seeing much character design other than Yana's. as for the artistic style of the anime, we already saw the teaser, and I think we're happy(I am really trilled that they released the announcement at the same time as the teaser, the announcement alone would not have had the same huge impact. plus it reduces the fear of cancelation ;] not putting that out there).

Ryo Kawasaki: Music

this is someone I really wanted to look into cause the music will matter a lot to me.

I found it, here's the soundtrack for the upcoming season 4.

with a background of jazz and band(popularizes to fusion genre apparently), this guy doesn't appear to fit with previous Black Butler soundtrack history. but I think that this is an indication that the mood and music of this season may be different of the rest due to it now being a sports show lol. and I think that's good! if done right I think the tone change will be hilarious, or, if everyone hates it, it's easily distinguishable from the rest.

I think this will be fun. here's more. also he looks awesome. impressive guy. man I'm praying for a killer new opening GOD.

I still wonder who the composer for the more classical score that I saw in the teaser is, if not him. it was nice :>

Some Bloberta outfit concepts and an Orel design at the top.

There are a lot of details but the Puppingtons are aristocrats; as in the comic here, Clay meets Bloberta, of the working class, singing at a music hall which she does to earn money.

She sees marrying Clay as an opportunity for upward mobility. She tries to convince herself she's attracted to him and stuff Clay thinks even though Blobs is poorer and all that she's pretty, seems intelligent (especially for a commoner : 0), and is very talented, and seems like she could be good wife/mother material. So they keep meeting and Angela like... is hesitant about her at first but lends her some clothes and Bloberta kinda starts to look to her as a better mother figure (Regina is not great) and Angela also starts to think of her as a daughter and she could definitely work for her Clay! Bloberta is elated she's being accepted by these people which helps her convince herself that this is a good idea. Clay probably sets it up so Bloberta can sing at social events they go to, if it involves a music/vocal performance, because it's good for him and she's more than willing to do it. She feels a bit like she's being exploited after a few times but she also loves to sing and it's helping her make friends or at least people who appreciate her voice.

With Bloberta's upbringing she's used to doing chores and all herself and cleaning is a coping mechanism for her anyway so she cleans things when Clay's not there and the servants are all quiet about it cause they like her more than him. Bloberta is also afraid of being seen as lesser so she's extra careful to 'behave' in front of Clay and his associates.

Clay hushed [her background] up so not many people knew he was marrying her because he didn't want those reactions; only his closest associates knew Then he hires people to make sure she can act 'properly' in public. Bloberta wants to be accepted in society so she goes along but she often puts on a show when they're out and about obviously. She feels quite numb like in the show, like she's always playing this version of herself. She hates talking to other men's wives at parties and such. She gets a break when she's conceiving Orel and then is congratulated for producing a healthy male heir.

So the difference here is that Clay knows who Shapey's father is from the beginning, but I think they'd set it up so Shapey and Danielle don't interact so Shapey doesn't form an attachment to him.

As for Shapey- because it'd be different here as to Danielle's plan... the marriage and all is a different structure than it is in modern day moralton, Clay is in a position that benefits him and he keeps Bloberta around for that reason... so Danielle, if he wanted Clay, would just go to Clay in secret. His plan- Clay wants another kid but can't provide physically for another one so like... Danielle offers to have sex with Bloberta. And Clay is like "well okay" and then they hook up in private, but a lot of people in their circle have these affairs. It's not unprecedented for Bloberta, she's just frustrated that her husband (who she doesn't love) and this guy who had sex with her so she could have a second kid are f*cking elsewhere while she's like >: <. Some of the women in the social circle hear about Clay and Danielle and invite Bloberta, who they've known for several years now, into their uhh lesbian circle.

Orel thinks it's totally normal that his parents aren't even like together they're just creating a facade that isn't even for the other people in their circle cause everyone's f*cking each other; the facade is for those outside the circle.

He sees Danielle occasionally like "Oh that's my father's lover" and then when he sees any of Bloberta's ladies "oh there're my mother's lady friends". Then he like, goes out in town when he's 12-13 and he becomes friends with Doughy and Joe and them and it's apparently not everyone's parents who do this!

"Your parents don't have lovers besides their husband or wife? Strange"

Clay and Bloberta are both generally happy because of their relationships except when they have to spend a lot of time together, but it's not suspicious or anything that they are only (barely) platonic in public, it's normal. So they still feel stuck together (and Bloberta doesn't want to leave, with everything she has tied down in this life) but aren't at the same time. They actually feel more amiable to interact with each other if they have to or pass by in a hall because they aren't together in any context that matters to them, only a casual one that they don't have to do much to maintain.

It was rare that as an Avenger, you could have normal nights out with your friends and whenever you had a free night, you made sure to make the most of it. Your parents weren’t around in your life so the only adult supervision you had was with the Avengers and even then, they weren’t very good at being parents. They made sure you didn’t die on missions or in the tower but other then that, you had lots of freedom.

While at school, you made plans with some of your classmates to go out to a party at someone’s house across the city. It had been a while since you had a night that wasn’t filled with homework, training, or a mission so you were definitely looking forward to the night ahead of you.

When the time came around, you left the compound and got into your friend’s car. She was the designated driver so she would also drop you back off later. The drive was about ten minutes so you were soon able to pile out of the car with your friends and start partying.

Your friends had gotten you all drinks and you stayed in the corner, talking and getting refills whenever you needed them. Your phone had stayed in your back pocket the whole time but you could feel it vibrating constantly. You pulled it out and handed it to one of your friends, “It keeps buzzing,” you complained.

Your friend looked at it and she frowned, “Yeah cause you have ten missed called from someone named Mr. Eyepatch.”

“Oh shit,” you mumbled, handing your drink to her and taking the phone back, “I’m in trouble,” you mumbled again before dialing the number and putting the phone up to your ear, “Hello?”

“Oh now you answer my calls,” the voice said.

“Well Fury in case you forgot, I don’t have anything important to do for tonight so you can’t be mad,” you said, trying hard to speak straight.

Fury, being the person he is, knew instantly you were as drunk as a horse, “Get your ass back to the compound,” he said.

“You are technically not my boss. I listen to Captain America,” you sassed. Fury was someone who you never dared to sass but you had lots of liquid courage in you, making you not think things through.”

“Oh really?” he asked, “Because last time I checked I was and I certainly can kick you out. Wanna watch me?”

“No sir,” you mumbled, getting an ounce of common sense in you, “I’ll go back now.”

Fury didn’t say goodbye before he hung up the phone. You shoved the phone into your pocket again and turned to your friend, “Can you drive me home now?”

The drinks had finally hit you and you were unable to walk yourself to the doors of the compound without falling and stumbling most of the way there. Once at the door, you tried your best to pull yourself together and open the door, acting as normal as possible.

Wanda was in the lounge right near the door so she was the first to see you, “Hey Y/n. How was your night?”

You nodded your head and gave her a thumbs up, “It was great.”

“Just great?” she asked, looking up from her book.

You nodded again and left the room, using the wall as your support.

“Y/n L/n!” you heard Steve yell from somewhere in the building.

“Uh oh,” you whispered.

“Uh oh is right,” Natahsa said to you, magically appearing at your side.

You jumped when you heard her voice next to you, “How’d you get there?”

Natasha cocked her head in confusion, “I was in here when you came in.”

“Oh. I didn’t see you. It’s dark in here,” you explained.

“Or it could be because you’re plastered and are completely out of it,” she said, smirking.

You winced, “Is it that obvious?”

She nodded, “You better get going to Steve. I believe Fury told him about your phone call earlier.

“Oh no,” you whispered again, making your way to where Steve was.

“You can’t just talk to people like that Y/n,” Steve said, continuing his five minute lecture. He hadn’t even let you say anything yet so you just stood there in front of him, not taking in anything he said, except that it was long and boring, “Are you listening to me right now?”

“Of course I am,” you said, looking up at him.

“Then what did I just say?” he asked, crossing his arms over his chest.

“You said that cans are people like Y/n and that I can’t be one,” you said, trying to use context clues to figure out what he said.

Steve groaned and buried his face in his hands, “You’re too drunk for this aren’t you?”

“Maybe,” you said sheepishly.

“Just go then. I’ll deal with this in the morning.”

You mentioned absolutely adoring "Ask Her A Question" from My Fair Hatey for a lot of reasons. Was that partially exaggeration, or do you actually have an analysis to dish out?

Yeah definitely some exaggeration lol and it’s basically just the sound of it, I adore all the songs on there but judging purely by how they sound, (not the narrative purpose) of all of them that one’ my favorite.

Voice acting is incredibly important to me, across all my favorite shows that’s the first thing I think about, I’m obsessed with line delivery and with identifying voices (I pride myself in being the best out of my siblings at identifying who’s voice it is first lol), so the main thing for me really is that Wander has my favorite voice in the series, his singing is so nice and it’s interesting how (for this song at least) he doesn’t do it with a lot of volume or anything, it’s relatively calm for him. He’s half-singing half-talking too and his line delivery is amazing. You can hear the giddiness in his voice at some parts, he does it so well lol. And his accent and the inflections he puts on certain words I love it. Namely his “ab-out:”

I can’t explain why I’m so interested in voices (probably just autism again) but along with comedy, art, and animation it’s one of my favorite things.

I’ don’t know a ton about music other than “this sounds good to me, this doesn’t” but I’m still very opinionated on it, my enjoyment of music tends to be more based on unique singing voices and variability in the music. Some cartoons have very lazy, uninteresting soundtracks and Wander is definitely not one of them, even if you’re talking about just the normal soundtracks, not the songs. it’s great how each if the main characters have their own background themes and even some sung theme songs lol. I can’t tell you what I like about specifically the music of “Ask Her a Question” I just know that I really like it.

In a narrative sense it’s obviously fun seeing Wander’s philosophy on romance and watching Hater go along with it lol. For the story overall I think it’s meant to be pretty significant that Hater would be interested in someone else enough to ask about their opinions, we saw how terrible he was on “The Date”.

The animation is visually interesting as usually with a lot of great stretching from Wander.

This is also my favorite kind of musical; “everyone knows they’re signing” instead of “nobody’s actually singing, they’re just conveying the emotions and storytelling through song for the audience’s eyes only.”

Woy in general is just exemplifies all the ways I would love to do things if I could create a cartoon;

The music is spectacular, so is the voice acting, the voice actors can sing instead of needing stand-in singers, the character designs are so recognizable, I love everyone’s names (‘Major Threat’ is such stupid and funny wordplay lol), the characterization is so good and interesting for everyone (infinitely kind characters are my favorite tho) the comedy is great and I like a lot of the gags but what’s especially great is the character-driven comedy; jokes that are funny just because the characters have funny personalities and interactions. The animation is spectacular too, I’m usually not at all a fan of flash animation but they utilize it in such a way that I didn’t used to know it was flash, the squash and stretch they do with the characters is so fun and interesting without looking grotesque or unappealing, they just look silly (there’s so many moments where it’s too fast to really get a grasp on what’s happening and if you look at it frame by frame it’s super impressive).

Riddle Rosehearts

I would say that Riddle enjoys a play from time to time. Now, when Crowley hosted auditions for the roles, he encouraged his dorm to audition. He personally wanted to get the role of the Queen of Hearts, for obvious reasons.

Imagine his surprise when the results were posted that he didn’t get the part, but not just that: you were going to play the Queen of Hearts. He immediately started looking for you. Once he did, he cornered you and demanded to know how.

You explained that back in your world, you loved to play the villain in every musical you were casted in. You already knew each of the 810 of the Queen’s rules, and you had the vocals for it, so it was a simple choice for Headmage Crowley.

On the actual day of the musical, Riddle was in the front row, eagerly watching out for you. Even though he seemed mad when speaking to you, he was actually very excited to see his crush play the role of his idol.

When he saw you march out onto the stage in the dress designed for the Queen, he was shocked. You just looked so regal. You put on an air of authority, and your voice… it was as if the Queen herself were there on that stage.

After the show, he was sure to get you a bouquet of flowers. He congratulated you and even complimented on your acting skills. This is when he asks you out and you, loving him in return, accepted his invitation to afternoon tea. He couldn’t ask for a better partner.

Leona Kingscholar

When he heard from Ruggie that the Headmage was putting on a production of the Great Seven, he didn’t care. Instead, he scolded Ruggie for awakening him from his nap. He was having the most excellent dream too! (You and him were cuddling on his bed).

Then his companion said that you got the part for the King of Beasts. He immediately jumped out of bed and rushed out of his dorm looking for you. How in the actual hell did you get the part and not one of his dorm members? Once he found you, he cornered you.

You hastily explained that back in your world, you loved both musicals and the Lion King. You had already played the role of Scar a few times before, so it wouldn’t be anything new to you, plus you have the vocals for it. It would save Crowley a bunch of money in the long run as well.

Of course he shows up when the play starts. He’s in the very front row, along with his brother, his sister in law, and his nephew. There was no way either of them would have missed this. He would never admit it, but he was excited about seeing you play his idol. (His brother definitely noticed and wouldn’t stop teasing him about it after.)

When you walked out on stage to talk to your ‘brother’, he immediately related to that. It truly was humorous how much he was actually paying attention to you. Then when you convinced the hyenas to help you? The way you sang made his heart soar to places unknown to him.

After the show, he brought you a bouquet of flowers. His heart was racing a thousand miles a minute, but he summoned up all his courage and asked you out. You could never imagine the insane amount of relief he felt in that moment when you accepted.

Azul Ashengrotto

He definitely had a part of the financial section of the play. He was the one who held auditions as well. He was definitely interested in who would end up as the Sea Witch, since she’s who the Octavinelle Dorm is based off of.

Imagine his surprise when he found you in front of him at the microphone. We all know how it went. You took a breath and did a small segment from Poor Unfortunate Souls, and you nailed it. Azul’s glasses flung themselves to the ground, that’s how shocked he was.

He asked about your hidden talent and you told him that you loved theater, especially when you play the antagonist of the story. When crunching the numbers, Azul told Crowley that it would be better to cast you since you already have had vocal lessons.

As being part of the production, he gets one of the best seats in the house. He is super excited about you being his idol. He sits very impatiently, waiting for Ursula (you) to come out onto the stage. When I tell you that he wasn’t disappointed…

When Ariel goes to visit Ursula, your voice is just so majestic. He had never understood the pure beauty that theater was until now. Not only did you look amazing, but you were his siren and he was the sailor. He would have followed you to the ends of the earth as long as you’d sing for him and only him.

After the show, he gets you a bouquet as well as a contract at the ready. He hands you a quill and tells you to read it through thoroughly. To sum it all up, it was asking you to be his romantic partner indefinitely. You, being as in love with him as he was with you, gladly signed and sealed the deal with giving him a peck on the cheek.

Kalim Al-Asim

He probably invested some money in the play. That being said, he’s invited to be a judge in the auditions for it. He doesn’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings so he goes on the condition that he remains a spectator rather than an observer.

He was pleasantly surprised when he found out that you were auditioning for the role of Jafar. He wasn’t expecting you to have such the perfect singing voice for such an evil character, but he was glad that you were playing one of the main characters!

After auditions, he ran up to you and asked how you could sing like that. You calmly explained that back in your world, you loved to play the villains, and they typically had deeper voices. You also took voice lessons to get that much closer to the character.

Since he was a primary financial investor, he got one of the best seats in the house. Jamil was seated next to him, of course. He was eagerly ranting to his companion about how excited he was to see you perform on stage.

Once you were on stage, ‘advising’ the sultan, he couldn’t help but be hypnotized by your voice. He had never been able to focus on anything before, but he gave you his undivided attention. It was as if he were grasping onto your words like they were his lifeline.

After the show, he gets you the most beautiful bouquet he could find and he asks you out in the most straightforward way possible. He barely gave you a chance to answer before he was showering you with compliments and praise about your performance.

Vil Schoenheit

When he hears about the play, he also auditions for the Fairest Queen role. Neige obviously auditions for the role of the unfortunate princess. It would be the perfect revenge for him, even if it was just acting.

He was understandably upset that he didn’t get the part, but his sadness was washed away when he found out that you were going to play the Fairest Queen. He was suddenly very eager to see how this would play out (get it?).

He asks you about how you were able to get the role, and you told him about your previous experience with the role and how you already had the pitch they were looking for, as well as being able to give off that aura of evil and regality.

He and Rook were in the front row seats, for once eager about a school event. He believes you deserved this role because you truly worked very hard to get it. He was reading through the little pamphlet and saw that a lot of the cast was members of his dorm. He couldn’t be more proud.

When he saw you on the stage with your gown, he was immediately entranced. You looked so beautiful and perfect. Your acting skills were nothing like he’s seen before. Your voice… he couldn’t find a single flaw.

After the show, he had Rook fetch you a bouquet of roses. He took a picture of you with the most aesthetically pleasing background he could find and posted it on his Magicam. He captioned it, “The person of my dreams, won’t you be mine?” Needless to say, you were tagged by so many people and you said yes.

Idia Shroud

When he hears about the play, he couldn’t care less. It was not very likely that his dorm members were going to audition besides maybe for lights and sounds. He volunteers his services for those two, but other than that, he doesn’t care.

Now, when Ortho tells him that you are auditioning for the role of King of the Underworld, he is shocked. Like jaw dropped, phone dropped, laptop flung itself to the floor, etc. AND YOU GOT THE PART?! Give him a second, mans is lagging like a 2005 Dell Desktop X. 

Through call (and a bunch of stuttering), he asks you how in Twisted Wonderland you got that role. You gladly told him that your past plays were often either Greek myths or inspired by them. Plus, you had experience playing Hades through that.

Man shows up for you, alright? He is dedicated to see you perform, and also Ortho wanted to go see you as well. He was very anxious since he was in a very crowded space, but since his family is another investor, he got some more isolated seats. 

When you were on and talking to ‘Meg’, he couldn’t help but laugh a few times at how comedic the character was. By the way, how did your voice go so deep?? He is so invested in your character that he plans a whole ass video game based on this play.

After the show, he very shyly hands you a smaller bouquet of black and blue roses. Then he quickly runs away. Upon further inspection, you see that there was a note attached to the stem of one of the flowers. You looked and saw that it was him asking you out. You texted him yes, and continued the mini-meet-and-greet.

Malleus Draconia

When he heard about the play, he was very excited about it. He invested a small amount of his fortune (which was about a billion dollars). That way, he was able to book better seats for him and his retainers. 

When he found out who was going to be playing the Thorn Fairy, he simply could not wait for the play. His child of man was going to be playing one of the Great Seven?? He is immediately trying to find you so that he could ask you the thousands of questions he has.

When he does find you, you gladly answer any and all queries he has. You tell him about how in your world, you were always a part of some play or musical and you always auditioned for the antagonist since your voice could reach that level of raspiness.

He’s very eager in the theater, though he doesn’t show it since he has a public appearance to maintain. He looks and sees that Lilia, Silver, and even Sebek seemed eager as well. Maybe it was because their dorm was finally getting some representation in modern media?

When you entered for the party scene, he couldn’t help but be entranced. You gave off the threatening aura of strict authority that he had never seen from you before. You were definitely made for the role of Maleficent.

After the show, he threw an enchanted rose to the stage and made sure it landed in front of you by using his magic. He was glad to see you got the message and picked it up and bowed, making your way off the stage. When he finally made it out of the theater, he asked if he had your permission to start courting you, and you had a happy dragon on your hands when you accepted.

Manwë Week Day 2

"Behold," Varda said at last, "your little kingdom looks like a gem in the distance, set among a crown or stars." 

Day 2: Friends & Love | Rain & Clouds Relationship(s): Varda x Manwë Synopsis: As the Valar shape the world, Varda takes Manwë to her own kingdom Warnings: Some smut (Ainur soul sex), size difference AO3

It was in the days of Arda's youth that Varda took Manwë with her to the stars and showed him what she considered to be her kingdom — the vastness of space and all the wonders that lay therein. 

Out here, she resembled a galaxy, appearing like a terrible and beautiful Queen of Stars with a core of outward flowing light and spiralling, luminous limbs that ever moved and shifted around her. Manwë appeared as he did on Arda, like a great Lord of the Children to come, yet was dwarfed by the cosmic magnificence of his wife and cradled lovingly in her hands. 

The pretty plumage he had grown for her on his wings and shoulders and around his neck made little difference, even if he were to add long tail feathers like the peacocks he had devised possessed, but he didn't mind; her light neither burned nor blinded him and the way she carried him made him feel warm and protected despite the freezing cold of space. 

"Behold," Varda said at last, "your little kingdom looks like a gem in the distance, set among a crown or stars." 

"Beautiful, is it not?" Manwë sighed, admiring the sight. When he stood on the surface of Arda, not even his keen eyes could perceive the true scope of his wife's domain, the innumerable stars and galaxies dotting a blanket of everlasting night. 

"It is. You and the others have made great progress in my absence," Varda agreed and smiled at him. "And now I wish to create new things in this realm as well, together with you."

"However may I be of service?" Manwë asked. He was surprised by her proposition, but not at all unwilling; in fact, nothing would make him happier than being able to put his talents to good use for his wife. Yet the depths of space and time were quite different from the little kingdom where his father had sent him, and his breath didn't go far within these regions. 

Still, Varda lifted her hand to her face and kissed his smaller form, causing air to flow from him in small gasps of excitement. 

"Yes," she mumbled, twirling the remnants of her husband's life-giving breath around her finger, seized by the pull of her presence. "Yes, that will do nicely." 

"What is your idea, beloved? What do you want me to do?" Manwë continued to question, and Varda opened her mind to him. 

Within it, he caught glimpses of giant, marvellous clouds of gas with stars in their midst, like a beautiful veil set with pearls, and he was awed by the sight, wishing to assist in bringing these designs into being. 

Sensing their shared desire, Varda gently nudged Manwë so he lay flat on his back and kissed him again. 

"Let us make music together and become one. Only us, as husband and wife," she whispered. 

"Like when we bonded?" Manwë was as of yet uncertain how such an act would play out in the physical realm, especially with the size disparity of their current forms. They had come together and made love in spirit to consummate their marriage after receiving Eru's blessing and a few times thereafter, but not yet in their chosen vessels.  

Varda caressed him with her thumb. "Worry not, beloved. Relax and let me lead you." 

Ever faithful, Manwë obeyed. His fána rejoiced at his wife's touch and his voice sang her praises as her lips, tongue and fingers toyed with his form, particularly the area between his legs where his flesh hardened and silently begged for her attention. From his mouth more and more gas flowed forth, the very substances Varda wanted from him, and she rewarded him generously for his efforts. 

The pleasure he felt aided his ëala in opening up, joyfully baring his very being to his queen whose own surged forward to become one with his. As both physical and spiritual boundaries blurred between the two Valar, she filled Manwë with her light, and he sensed that it was spilling forth from his eyes, mouth and every other orifice his current fána possessed and caused his veins to glow; but he was neither afraid, trusting her completely, nor in pain, his consciousness wandering beyond physical confines and sensations. 

With Varda's sheer might and magnitude amplifying his own power, his song rose to new heights and his breath filled the emptiness around them with pulsing, writhing, budding potential of life. So taken was Manwë by the glorious feeling of being one with his beloved, so focused on his task and their vision, that the climax of his fána took him by surprise and coaxed more and more out of him until his voice broke and his lungs were empty, leaving the Breath of Arda himself, for the first time in his life, utterly breathless. 

Now silent save for the final gasping notes of their cosmic symphony, Manwë lay limp in Varda's hand and enjoyed the tender sensation of her tongue preening him. 

"You were so wonderful," she praised and slightly bent her fingers to support his head so he could look without needing to sit. "Behold the beautiful cloud you brought into being. Many stars will I be able to kindle, so that they may shine upon Arda from afar to welcome the Children one day." 

"I am glad," Manwë mumbled and made himself comfortable. "Though perhaps I must return there soon to help Ulmo make more rain for Yavanna's and Vána's seeds —"

"You need to rest now," Varda said firmly, "you have exhausted yourself for the moment and done more than enough. The little kingdom will have to wait until its king has slept." 

She then placed Manwë on her shoulder instead, her hair shielding him like a veil of night, and he happily snuggled up to her. 

"I feel like Estë would be quite cross with me if I didn't advise you to be cautious with your strength," she chuckled lightly, and Manwë cooed in agreement. 

And aside from that — as beautiful as Arda was, this was one of his favourite places to be, and if his wife thought it wise for him to rest, then he would; and while he was at it, he would watch her shape new stars.

Dungeon Meshi Anime Review, Season 1, Episode 7 review

Another great episode (Kabru!!! Kabru!!!)! Once more I have very little to say except that I liked it. Great animation, great music, great voice acting in both Japanese and English.

No weird anachronisms in the dub script, though I will say there were actually a few lines of dialog pertaining to the plot that were easier to understand in the Japanese subtitles, some nuance got lost in the dub but was clearer in the Japanese, and normally it's been the reverse until now.

A few more thoughts (and possible spoilers) under the cut:

I think they are being a BIT too faithful to the manga at points, they are leaving Laios' nose off and not finishing it a lot in this episode, which is something Kui did a LOT in the early manga and stopped doing later as she got more experience with drawing his character. There's no reason for the anime version's nose to just not get drawn except that they're trying to imitate the manga panels, which I think isn't necessarily great, since the earlier art just wasn't as good as the later art in my opinion.

The character designs in general have been averaged so that the designs overall look closer to Kui's end-of-manga style, so doing early manga style choices with only Laios looks weirdly out of place.

Obviously sometimes the nose is left off for comedic purposes, but it was happening in all kinds of shots in this episode, and it looked like the animators just didn't want to bother.

They cut out elements of Kabru's party's story in order to fit 3 chapters into this episode. Hopefully the missing parts will be included in the future episode when Kabru and his party return, and we'll get to see them interact, since most of the character development they get IN the story happens in those scenes.

If they just completely cut those scenes and don't include them later, it'll leave Kabru and his party really underdeveloped, as well as not telling anime viewers some worldbuilding stuff that would be really nice for them to know.

Though the animation and pacing was generally good, moving so quickly past Senshi's sadness over having to kill Anne felt like a disservice to that plot beat.

Also might have been nice to have a longer moment to focus on Senshi and Marcille bonding, though what they did was adequate.

The fight with the kraken was good, however, the nuance of "we can't attack the kraken because it's under the water and we are on top, and it can hit us from any direction but we can't hit it back" was sort of lost.

This made using waterwalk on the kraken seem to come a bit out of nowhere.

Also the kraken didn't really struggle or move after getting stuck on top of the water, which might have helped show that it wants to stay underwater and being up top like that was bad for it.

Other than that, a really solid episode.

Some predictions for upcoming episodes and adaptation choices:

Next episode will be the Falin flashback and the first undine fight and then following episode the 2nd undine fight + tentacles Then combine the frogs with the dragon planning. Maybe also the necromancy chapter? Or they put that at the beginning of the actual dragon fight episode...

OR

They just do the Falin flashback as fast as possible, and do all the parts of the undine together. So, that'd be 4 chapters in one.

Episode 9 "The Harbinger" Review

Ah Jennifer, Jennifer, Jennifer... you love to watch us get all worked up don't you? But in all seriousness, I really enjoyed this episode. It's so beautifully animated and scored. I need the Kiners to drop the OST asap because man was the music stunning. (This episode also further proves that Echo clearly was the braincell of the group and I'm cackling).

As always, spoilers below:

BEHOLD! THE RETURN OF OUR QUEEN VENTRESS! I loved how she was utilized. I was surprised to see her actually be there on Pabu, but it makes sense since Fennec told her to find them. However, I am wondering how she did find Pabu. My guess is that Ventress was given Hunter's photo and meditated with it until she felt his presence... somewhere. Or she knew a guy who knew a guy who knew Phee. Everything from Ventress' design to voice acting was perfection. The animators really popped off with her Dark Disciple look. But, how did she survive? Nightsister magic? There's probably some explanation, but it'll be left ambiguous for reasons.

Her relationship with Omega was very well done. She's changed so much since her first appearance in CW. I liked the balance between her ability to still kick butt while also being a good person at heart as shown with Omega. She doesn't kill the Batch even though they got defensive (and I understand why they did). The scene where she calms the giant kraken-like creature was so so good. It's a nice way of showing how Ventress has found the light with the Force. Her line about being on a side of her own was also good and pretty much sums up her character perfectly. She's neither dark nor light, she's just right.

It's also obvious from the title that she's the harbinger. Harbingers are people that herald the approach of someone or danger. For the Batch, she's a harbinger of doom. That doesn't mean she herself brings the danger, but she tells them that their time is up. Repeatedly, she tells the Batch that they aren't safe even on Pabu. Which means that Pabu is gonna go down next week *cue sad yaying*. Even the lighting this episode signified doom. Pabu is shrouded in fog and the only light we see is from a sunset, indicating the end of the Batch's peace and safety.

Speaking of the Batch, they really do share one braincell and even then, it's usually with Echo. It's so awesome to see them work together again in combat. And we got to hear their theme again!! It was so triumphant and such a great moment! I know we'll hear it again, but this was such a good moment. I love that most of their moments were them just watching out for Omega. I know we all joke about the Jango Fett Mandalorian dad genes, but it's so true. Hunter, Wrecker, and Crosshair love their sister so much. Every time Cross was like "we're not handing her over," I got excited. Omega aside, the smaller moments like Wrecker teasing Crosshair or Wrecker mimicking his brothers were gold.

My favorite moment with the three was when Crosshair threw Hunter and Wrecker's weapons to them. The music went hard and the camaraderie between them is so heartfelt. These brothers will always have each others' backs. (Also, this is the first time we hear Cross call Tech by his name. Tech is still with them, even if it's in their hearts).

And of course there's our sweet bean, Omega. Next week will definitely be about her conflicted over the possibility of being Force Sensitive. It breaks my heart to see her so lost and confused. The Batch can try and help, but they're so out of their depth. I honestly think Omega will go back to Tantiss simply to see if she is capable of using the Force. There are so many questions about her identity. Why was she created? Why is she so important? I know a lot of people now think that she will off with Ventress in the finale if we do get a confirmation that she is force sensitive. Honestly, I hope she stays with her brothers. If they kill the Batch off, then I can see the Ventress end working, but I really hope that's not the case.

I wonder how the Empire will find Pabu. They could get really lucky, find a bounty hunter to track them, or even have a brainwashed Tech. I know the theory about Cross having a tracker or something was popular, but if that was true, then the Empire would've already descended upon them. Maybe Palpatine finds them through the Force; that I would believe. Either way, it will be very angsty and Pabu is doomed. But what do you guys think?

Anyways, that's all I have for now. Let's all prepare mentally for next week. Our little family is gonna need all the therapy and support they can get.

Bad Sanses with Girly!Reader who suddenly stops expressing themselves

* They were pretty used to your bright colors and girly outfits. There were times Error would knit some dresses for you. Horror would help brush your hair while Dust styled it. Killer helped with your makeup (those anime cosplays of his helped contribute on this). Nightmare found your actions a bit too cutesy so it leaves him annoyed but he’s also the one who spoils you the most (clothes, makeup, accessories, he splurges once he finds some good stuff he knows you’ll love.)

* Nightmare could sense a lot of negativity in his office one day. He goes to the kitchen to see everyone peeping in from the doorway. They all jump noticing him but pointed out to you: their main cause of worry. There you sat with no trace of your usual attire or energy to match it. In fact your energy matched your current look: tired and gloomy. A complete reverse.

* You refused to tell anyone what happened. It made you feel a bit bad when they tried cheering you up. Killer tried his usual jokes, Horror with his cooking, Dust with his worried stare, even Error was willing to give up some of his precious chocolate to cheer you up. Unfortunately you just didn’t feel up to it. So they go to their last hope: Nightmare.

* Obviously he didn’t want to get involved and was enjoying the negativity but even his team knew he was concerned for your well-being as well. So he manages to talk to you and you finally admit that someone had insulted the way you acted and dressed and now you didn’t feel comfortable. It was obvious that you still wanted to but whatever that person said to you, it really upset you.

* Yo….tell me how everyone just dresses you up in your usual outfit. And they all hang around you suggesting all of you would take a small walk together. A bit terrifying for other strangers to see you heavily guarded but you actually felt safe. The person from before unfortunately spotted you and started talking that shit. The absolute FEAR in their eyes when the murder trio circled in on them. They only scared them off but I doubt they’ll let them go Scott free either (don’t expect seeing them ever again after that….)

* You all go home and they made you promise to tell them next time and that you are amazing just the way you are!

Mini Story Time!!!

Everyone was muttering while you and the Bad Sanses walked down the street. You felt so nervous….all their eyes on you….were they judging you? You felt Horror and Dust hold your hands and Nightmare’s tentacle gently wrap around your waist.

“Calm yourself….there is nothing to be afraid of,” Nightmare said softly, “Take deep breathes.” You did as he told and your nerves became calmer. You felt safe near them….much more comfortable.

“Oh great. That weirdo again,” The voice made you freeze up. Not again….The person that insulted you before approached the group, “Still wearing that crap? You look like a freaking clown. Makes sense when you have the whole circus following you around.” The person laughed along with some friends but went rigid when the murder trio surrounded them. Their friends also froze up.

“Heh….that’s a good one,” Killer said raising a knife to their face, “Since you wanna be a little jokester, why don’t I paint a nice big smile across that face? A proper clown has to make a biiiiiig smile~!”

Horror and Dust teleported behind them, hands on their shoulders. With their glowing eye lights and dark aura was enough to elicit a horrified scream as they ran off, their friends following suit. The skeletons were going to give chase but Nightmare stopped them.

“No need. I believe they have gotten the message. Besides best if we do it….another time. Wouldn’t want to scare our human here,” Nightmare explained.

“Heh….sure thing boss,” Dust said cackling a bit.

“You really didn’t have to….,” You said in a low voice.

But Nightmare heard, “It was absolutely necessary. Can’t let others think it’s ok to mess with our human now would we?”

You sigh but smile sweetly, “Thank you! You guys are the best!”

Error smiled, “There’s our human.”

“Aw you even got glitchy boi here all smiley,” Killer teased.

“Wha-?! S-shut up! Tear stained freak….,” Error grumbled.

You laughed making them all relieved to see you were already feeling much better. They all hugged you (well Error squeezed your hand. His own unique way Y’know?) and showered you with compliments.

“Alright….,” You giggling before hugging them back just as warmly, “Let’s go home.”

 sitting on your bed, your laptop in front of you with the new script you received from your agent.  harry’s new album softly playing in the back, smiling softly to yourself.

 harry was always someone you were close with, invited to his family gatherings on occasion, texting or calls when can. even though he was 5 years older than you, your mind couldn’t help but fantasize about him... like every other girl.

 he laughs at your excitement, “i told ya’ darlin’, good things would come. ya’ been workin’ ya’ ass off.” setting the phone back down, you stare back at his reflection.

 “wait, who told ya’?” he rolls his eyes, “make me give my secrets, huh?”

 “i got the list secretly, i like to know whom i’m to be seated with; and your name was there but not as niall’s guest.”

 you laugh at that, “yes, i get to bring me own guest.” your dog jumps up on the bed, coming right onto your lap. “oh well sansa wants to say, ‘ello.”

 she was all in the way of the camera, you shooing her to lay down beside you. “well, do you have a date?” his question was simple, but your eyes widen a bit. you haven’t thought much, maybe bring your friend or whatever. mom wasn’t one for all the camera’s.

 “not quite, do you?” licking your lips, you pull the phone closer. harry was on the couch, lazy stubble and a white tee on. “nope, gemma couldn’t.” you frown at that, you and his sister were besties for sure.

 “aw i’d rather her than you.” the joke was sarcastic but he faked a sarcastic laugh, “ooo fiesty today.”

 “always am, did ya’ expect less?” the tease was building a tension you didn’t quite know why, but you squeeze your legs tight as his dimples show.

 “no, never with ya’.” he clears his throat, looking a bit more serious. “would ya’ wanna go with me? not like that of course, tabloids and stuff...”

 before he could continue a ramble to come, you quickly agree. “of course,  it be nice, ya’ know. instead of being alone or with someone i don’t really want.”

 both of you staring at your screens, happy with the agreement. “well, i got to get these lines down... but text me your clothing style so we can arrange something of sorts to match.”

 he scoffs, “ya’ and this always matching.” you roll your eyes, “hush, because ya’ know ya’ll end up doin’ it.” you pet sansa’s head which rested calmly on your lap.

 “whateva’, talk to ya’ soon, darlin’.” you smile softly at the nickname.

 “bye harold.” and with that you hung up, not even bothering with the lines. more so freaking out at the fact that your date to the event is now your brothers ex band mate...

 “what the hell just happened?” you glance at sansa, who just wags her tail.

a few weeks have passed, you and harry’s text becoming a daily thing. yet the energy was different, he was more open, more flirty?

 you couldn’t tell if he was actually flirting, but it was more nicknames, phone calls goodnight, goodmorning text, planning. everything making you long for the older boy even more.

 the met gala was in just a few days, harry was back in la, as well as you just got finished shooting a modeling gig. the time was around 6 in the evening, when you arrived home. sansa was at your best friend’s, dog sitting the baby since you have a busy few days.

 setting the few bottles of alcohol you stopped and grabbed, onto the counter along with your bag and coat. “alexa, play my chill playlist.” you call out to the scary robot, instantly the tunes of bob marley fill the room.

 walking into your bedroom, ridding yourself of the clothes and into more comfortable lounge wear. a phone call interrupted the music. shuffling back towards the kitchen, snooping through to find your phone.

 quickly answering, you set it down on speaker. “hi!” you call out not looking at you even phoned you. “well ‘ello.” harry’s voice calls out making you stop your motion.

 “well ‘ello, harold. what do i owe the pleasure of your calling?” you walk closer, picking the phone up. “im actually outside your door.”

 almost dropping your phone, you shake your head. “wh-no fuckin’-are ya-” the knock comes from your door aswell from the phone. hanging up and setting your phone down, you rush to unlock the door.

 the six foot something man stood infront of your smaller frame, eyes widen in surprise. “what the hell!” jumping up and wrapping your arms around his neck. his hands scoop around your thighs.

 a feeling rushes through you as he walks in, spinning you around softly. his grip tightens before setting you down back on your feet. “i didn’t know you were on this side of town?”

 he laughs softly, “i wasn’t but i wanted to see my favorite girl, before being in front of hundreds of people.” you smile at that turning towards the bought alcohol.

 “well, ya’ arrived on time. i just bought some drinks.” glancing back you notice his eyes on you, and where they were placed. right on your ass, since you didn’t realize you were gonna have company the shorts were your cute short short ones.

 “like old times, we can catch up and drink.” you shake your head, “not like last time though, i ended up sick as a dog!” he chuckles at the memory, heading into your apartment more.

 “i like it, it fits you.” he observes as you pour you both a glass of wine first. walking closer to him, you hand him the drinks. “thank ya’, the remotes are there. i’ll grab the blankets.”

 he gets situated on the couch, turning the tv on instantly going onto netflix. you open the cabinet under the tv, bending over slightly to pull out the biggest blanket for you two to share. his eyes bore onto you as you struggle with the material.

 standing up, glancing at his selection and seeing he chose a scary movie. “ooo finally.” you throw the blanket on him before settling beside him. “i remembered it was my turn last time.” he mumbles as he hands over your cup.

 you hum at that, taking a sip of the wine. “i thought ya’ would forget, bein’ busy and all.” shuffling the pillow a little, allowing yourself to rest against harry. legs now drape across his.  “

 “never.” he pulls you closer.

 “i’ve missed ya’.” you mumble out before glancing up at him, his eyes already on yours.

“i know... it feels so different from not seeing ya’ all the time.” you nod in agreement before taking a few more sips.

 “life has definitely been different for sure...” not even wanting to get into everything. “i never said anything about it, but you were too good for him.” he mentions your ex, timothy chamalet, which ended way over 5 months ago.

you roll your eyes, “it’s fine, trust me harry. i realize right now, im probably gonna be single for awhile, but thats okay.” the movie starts and you focus your attention back on the tv.

 harry leaves it be and downs his wine, as you finish yours. “lift up, i’ll grab us another one.” you obey moving your legs and handing over your empty glass. your fingertips graze each other, eyes locking together until you clear your throat.

 “thank you.”

 “of course.”

 settling down beside you the movie started getting more interested, but you couldn’t get the distraction of his warmth beside you, out your head. and of course now there was a relationship scene.

  clearing your throat softly, taking another sip and lift up. harry’s eyes catch yours confused, “i haven’t ate much today, wanna share a pizza?”

 “yea, sounds great.” leaving his embrace, you turn the oven on allowing it to pre-heat. finishing your wine, you turn and notice the first bottle was empty. a warm feeling rose through your cheeks from the alcohol,  opening the second bottle.

 not noticing harry was now behind you, you jump at the cup set down beside you. “oh gosh.” you giggle hand close to your chest, his deep chuckle matching yours.

 grabbing the bottle you pour you both another glass, “ya’ might as well stay the night. its getting later and i don’t want ya’ to drive super late.” he grabs his cup as you turn leaning back against the counter.

 him infront of you, “i already figured i would.” smiling at his response still settled between him, his eyes staring down at you. you could’ve sworn he flickered his gaze towards your lips, but you shake the thought. he takes a gulp of the wine before setting it back down.

 “my dress will be in tomorrow, i have a fitting in it later. which reminds me i need to text her” you update him on the outfit, rambling on was something he was use too. him only humming in response, staring at you as you take another sip of your wine.

 “you’ll look beautiful, either way.”

 his hand reaches upwards, tucking a piece of your hair behind your ear.  eyes connecting with each other. “well thank ya’.” not exactly knowing what to do, since his hand never drops from your face.

 in a stand still, he suddenly moves closer. lips inches from each other, his thumb caressing your cheek. sliding down to toy with your bottom lip.

 “y/n...” he says my name as almost a warning, his voice holding a edge i’ve never heard. the ding of the oven, pulls us away from the most intimate moment between you two.

 “i gotta put the pizza in.” the words were soft, maneuvering from underneath him. you pull the pizza out the box, uncovering the wrapper. feeling eyes on the back of your head, made you fumble nervously with the plastic.

 shoving it quickly in the oven, and turning the timer on. you now face the man that was running through your head. his expression undetectable, only tyhe wander of his eyes.

 “harry, i-” you try to come up with something to say, to ease the anxiousness inside you. “i have a question.”

 the statement threw you off guard, furrowing your eyebrows as he continues. “have you ever thought about us?”

 the swore your eyes almost fell out your head, already feeling the warmth on your cheeks. moving forward, grasping the cup, swallowing half the glass before giving a response.

 “what do ya’ mean us?” nice, smooth play. you were staring at the man in front of you, trying so hard not to be desperate and just jump his bones. he rolls his eyes, “don’t play dumb now.”

 grabbing the bottle, glass still in hand, you make way back over to the couch. “no idea what ya’ talkin’ about.”

 the words were spoken over your shoulder, deciding if he was going to ask such questions... he shall make the first move. you lean over more than needed, guiding your shorts up some as the bottle sets on the coffee table.

 standing up and glancing over at him, he was fidgeting. “fuck it.” the words left his lips and he advances forward; not expecting his hands around your face.

 both your lips smash together, you gasping in shock allows his tongue to enter your mouth. one hand slides down to your throat, holding it lightly in a teasing manner.

 your hands run up his chest landing onto his shoulders, his hands leave your face grasping underneath your thighs. laying you down carefully onto the couch, he pulls away.

 eyes wild, matching each others energy, you decide to take your shirt off. leaving your pierced nipples exposed. his gaze darkens at the sight of them, licking his lips lustfully.

 breathless and in bliss, you let out a breathe as harry licks you up after you calm down some. wiping your face, he kisses your thighs. alternating between the two. moving upwards leaving trail of kisses before stopping right in front of you.

 his hair was a mess and he looks so good, above you glowing in a small gleam. he smiles down at you, giggling up at him he kisses your forehead. “what?”

 you shook your head, only allowing yourself to stay in this moment for a second. “so much for a long time no see.” his dimples pop as he laughs, sitting upwards more slightly.

 “hey, watchin’ ya’ cum on my face. that’s a good long time no see present.” the words made your face heat up, moving to grab your shirt throwing it on. harry eyes follow you making you push him softly.

 “why are you starin’ mister.” you lean over him slightly grabbing your shorts and underwear. he just smirks shaking his head, you roll your eyes in a joking manner.

 “imma’ go to the loo.” he nods as you walk off towards your bathroom, knowing you needed to pee after being eaten out. also it gives you a second to digest how the fuck this all seem to go down.

  your shorts were balled up in your hands as you walk bare, turning back to catch his eyes focused on your behind. turning you flick the switch, your reflection showing how dishevel you look.

 you grab your hair brush, calming the frizzy mess; as well as applying some lip balm to your swollen lips. glancing at your reflection, you internally scream.

 you’ll be in public view soon with a man who has just made you cum, from his mouth. now he is acting all weird as well, like he might like me.

 there’s no way that’s not possible. shutting the light off along with the thought that you knew was not true. making way back into the living area, harry has the movie back on at the part we last actually can recall.

 the pizza dings, making me beam. i turn to get the pizza but harry calls me out, “stop, sit down and relax. i’ll grab it out.”

 your eyes widen at the sudden nice gesture, neverless you thank him and get comfortable again on the couch. leaning forward grabbing the cup, the touch of the cup on your lips made you shiver.

 your eyes glance over at harry and you knew it, your crush was becoming more. it didn’t matter if you got hurt, you wanted him in a way you thought never possible.

 he holds two plates as he makes way back over, “here ya’ are my lady.” the plate held a few delicious slices. “thank ya, my lord.”

 a small smile breaks way on both your faces, as you throw your legs over his getting comfortable. the plate rested on your lap as you press play on the remote.

  halfway through eating your pizza, a clicking sound from a phone comes from my side. my head jerking towards harry who just busts out laughing at the photo.

 “harry.” you whine, snatching the phone to look. “you can not show anyone that, i look horrible!” it wasn’t horrible but not the best.

 “okay okay, but im not deleting it. you’re too cute.” the comment made you take another bite, trying to cover up the remark you would’ve made.

 after finishing the pizza and wine, the movie was finished leaving the two of you yawning. you stood in the kitchen making yourself a water bottle, turning to sleepy harry.

 “ill make ya’ some water and bring you a aspirin just in case, if ya’ wanna go lay down.” you knew the poor boy was exhausted. he throws you a tired smile before shuffling to your room, as you grab an extra bottle for him to use.

 taking your aspirin right away, you put an extra one in your hand. flicking the kitchen light off, you head into your bedroom seeing harry laying there half sleep.

 “here take this.” you climb into bed, placing the pill in his hand as you give him his water. setting your water on your end table, you plug your phone up and look back over seeing harry’s eyes on you.

 “cuddle me.” he pulls you down, a gasp escapes you along with a small giggle. his arm was underneath your head along with his other around your waist. you felt snug and tight, you press yourself more into him.

 “night h’.” you mutter softly, he kisses the top of your head gently. “night darlin’.”

DmC: Devil May Cry Thoughts

So I finally decided to experience the DmC Reboot, and my overall verdict is: Not As Bad As I Expected. 

I took notes, so let’s break it down. This is over 3 pages in a doc btw, so buckle up I guess. Hope it was worth the wait.

What I Liked

Level Design

This is probably the game’s biggest strength. Great amount of variety, and the atmosphere of each level was great. 

Limbo is a really cool concept. 

The twin’s special abilities (like Dante’s grappling hook type weapons) made for some really cool platforming. 

The typography really works in this game. Like, words and phrases appearing in the environment to taunt Dante or just provide additional flavor to whatever is happening. Very comic book. 

The Bob Barbas boss battle had a really cool neon techy aesthetic, which isn’t something I would have expected for this game. Neat!

The game show levels leading up to Lilith’s boss fight were cool too! 

The Succubus boss battle made really good use of the environment. 

Enemy Design

General demon mobs are automaton-like, which is pretty neat. I’m not a fan of that sort of aesthetic, but I respect the creative direction. 

All the bosses had decent variety in terms of design and battle mechanics.

Item/Weapon Design

I think this was another pretty strong point for this game

It’s a small thing, but the designs of the orbs were nice.

Rebellion’s shape shifting is neat. Rebellion doesn’t really have any cool powers like Yamato does in the mainline games, so it was nice to see it do something besides being a big sword. 

AQUILA IS SUCH A COOL WEAPON

Ebony and Ivory were pretty, but didn't seem particularly useful what with all the other weapons Dante had at his disposal.

Misc

Combat looks dynamic and satisfying, and I can see the influence it had on DMC5’s combat. 

The voice acting is good

Occasionally, it was genuinely funny

The Vergil gameplay at the end? INCREDIBLE. 

The music was good. Nothing really stood out to me, but it did enhance the game. 

What I Disliked

Lilith

I really hated her character design. And I’m not saying it wasn’t effective character design, or that it was bad. I just personally didn’t like it. 

Her weirdly pulled skin, the corset piercings, the way her skin bunches up around the tops of her gloves… ugh. 

And maybe that’s the point! I’m probably supposed to find it offputting! But I hated looking at her. 

Pregnancy is a really intense squick of mine, so all that was just no! No! No! No! 

I wish I could unsee her boss battle

Minor Design Complaints

Dante’s DT design was a little disappointing, especially considering how well designed everything else is. 

Yamato’s design was also lackluster. 

Misc

The fatphobia was disappointing but not surprising, especially considering the year this was released. 

Mundus sex scene… ew

The sniper abortion scene wasn’t as shocking as I expected it to be, but it sure was there

The way Vergil pronounces Yamato lol. Ya-MATT-o

Pronouncing Mundus differently was a little weird. The mundus amungus…. 

Mundus’ boss fight was uninspired. Wow, a giant statue trying to squash Dante on a platform. Never seen that one before.

A lot of this game has a ‘gross’ factor, which I’m not really into. That’s just personal preference, because I do think it mostly works in context. Just not my thing. 

Characters:

In general, I found the characters to be pretty one-dimensional. 

The Twins

The two of them working together in Mundus’ tower, one in each world, was really cool. If you’re going to have twins in a setting with two worlds overlapping, having one in each is (chefs kiss). Being able to play as both of them to achieve the goal would have made it even better. 

I really enjoyed the scenes they had together, but there just weren’t enough of them. 

It was nice seeing them share physical affection (in the form of a mutual shoulder pat)

But “I loved you, brother” just didn’t have the emotional impact I wanted it to have. 

And the issue is really… they’re strangers. They may be brothers, but they barely know each other. Their relationship just didn’t get as much attention and buildup as it should have. 

Vergil

He’s so friendly and helpful sounding at the beginning, it was kind of cute. 

But it is revealed he’s pretty cold and calculating, willing to sacrifice Kat because saving her wasn’t worth the risk to him.

Even though he was carrying Yamato around, I wasn’t sure he could even fight until the very end. He just seemed so weak. The thing about the twins is that they’re equals on the physical level. IDK, it was just weird to see a Vergil that didn’t fight. 

honestly, a way more interesting character than Dante.

Dante

A devil-may-care character that learns to give a shit? Always a classic. 

As unnecessarily edgy as he seems, his poor coping mechanisms make sense for how he grew up. 

Kat

An assault survivor, because of course she is. It’s just disappointing. Was it necessary? Was it??

Overall, she’s fine. No real strong feelings about her. 

Despite having a ‘role’ (guiding Dante through Limbo and helping him escape it), her job could have been given to Vergil and the game would have worked fine. Maybe even better. 

Sparda and Eva 

Having Sparda outlive Eva and be responsible for hiding the twins was an interesting choice. I also like that we have confirmation for what happened to him (eternal torture). 

I would have expected an angel and demon to be a power couple, but they seemed to have been beaten pretty easily. For plot, I guess. 

The Story

I wasn’t really all that invested, tbh. There’s nothing wrong with the story, but at the same time there isn’t really anything notable about it (except Vergil’s bit). 

It’s a hack n’ slash, so I’m not expecting a masterpiece, but it was pretty one note.

WHY is there a war between demons and angels? Where did the Nephilim come from, how many were there, what role did they play? More importantly, why should I care about any of this? 

The twins avenging their parents should have felt like… like taking on a mantle to continue their cause, and I really didn’t get any of that. There wasn’t any weight of legacy. And the main games handle that so well. 

Overall, I just felt like there wasn’t enough emotional impact, especially between the brothers. There wasn’t enough time to really grow to care about the three protagonists, imo. 

Dante's character arc is... learning to give a shit, I guess, but even then, his decision to be the protector of humans feels really out there. Did he really show that much growth throughout the game for this declaration to really feel deserved? Rewarding?

Likewise, Vergil's shift from revolutionary to would-be king is equally abrupt. Like maybe the entire point of it was to be out of left field, but from a storytelling standpoint... an out-of-nowhere twist like that just doesn't feel rewarding. Having more time with Vergil as Dante throughout the course of the game, to have a subtle buildup so that when you look back and say 'the signs were all there and I missed them', that would have been really good. Like, disregarding the fact that any fan of DMC knows Vergil is going to abandon everything for power.

Vergil’s gameplay and story at the end was a lot more compelling than the rest of the game combined. It’s literally the only thing I’m interested in learning more about. 

Final Thoughts

The game was… alright. Not as bad as I expected it to be, but I’m not sure I would call it good, either. There were a lot of really interesting concepts that just didn’t reach their full potential. The ‘hard’ elements like design and combat were there, but the characters and story were lacking. Making a DMC game heavily influenced by the Divine Comedy is a great idea! 

I think that there are two things that really held this game back. 

Making it a DMC game. As its own thing, it could have been really good. Could they have told a story based on the Divine Comedy with twins named Dante and Vergil without stepping on DMC’s toes? Probably not. But with some changes, it could have worked.

The marketing. I didn’t see it in real time, but we’ve all heard of the weirdly homophobic marketing for this game. And I think that really soured people’s opinions of the game. Still does, tbh. ‘Dante is not a gay cowboy’ as if that isn’t his entire appeal….

Anyway, I don’t think it quite deserves the hate it gets. If you go in knowing you’re not getting a ‘real’ DMC game, it’s not bad. 

Rating: 5/10
