I love stanning characters I relate to just as much as I love stanning those I absolutely do not agree with, whose fundamental ideology is completely different than mine, whose methods I don't agree with. I love it even more if I think they are a little delusional or unhinged or evil.

It is so fun to just explore their ideology, read different people's completely different interpretations of them and be fascinated by them all. I do not need my fictional character to be the beacon of everything good and holy in the world. I do not need them to be moral or pure; what I need them to be is INTERESTING. But I still want to read the opinions of people who think they are gods and those who think they are devil reincarnates.

Challenge me, make me think, make me question my beliefs, or be completely ridiculous but fun. Pro and anti tags have nothing on me; I will follow them all. I want to talk about this character. You love him? Oh, let me read why. You hate him? Oh, let me read why.

This is FICTION. I could loathe and despise certain characteristics in someone while still relating to others. I can want to set this little guy on fire and then extinguish it myself and nurse him back to health.

If I am not going to even think from the pov of the 'bad guy' then I might as well stop reading because what is the point. This is not the same as justifying real life murderers or abusers, not even close. People are allowed to hate these characters! Of course they are! Just as they are allowed to love them. They are allowed to think 'this is the worst person ever' and they are allowed to think 'this is my literal child'.
