Damian Wayne x Reader

Idea: Damian wayne x reader where he gets kicked on her fire escape and knocked out. She takes him in and tries to patch him up. His brothers get scared about his disappearance and go to find him not wanting to leave her company (she could be wanting to be a veterinarian and he's listening to her talk about cow's 4 stomachs (completely Dr. Pol knowledge, not actual veterinarian knowledge))

Author’s Note: I tried to start this during my night shift, but I'm really tired right now and I work again tonight, so I need sleep (I ended up finishing this about a month later). This is Reader POV most of the time. Both reader and Damian are about 16, but I’m still thinking of the art and costume style of the Batman vs Robin animated movie instead of JDL: Apokolips War Damian. Family dynamics are based on the Batman: Wayne Family Adventures Webtoon series where they all have a somewhat working relationship. I have ideas in the works, but requests are still OPEN. Feedback is always appreciated, especially since I don’t know if I characterized Damian correctly. Also, tell me if you want to be part of a Tag List and I’ll tag you when I upload something new.

Curled underneath a cave of blankets, I was reading Murder on the Orient Express for the ten billionth time. Snow was falling outside of my room in Gotham, building up a layer on top of the fire escape outside of my window. I needed a break from reading all of my other Veterinarian books. I haven’t even applied to any college for undergrad much less to be a Veterinarian yet, but if I was going to get an internship somewhere before school, then I wasn’t going to limit the animals that I worked on. I’m currently reading about a cow's four stomachs.

What the fuck was that. It sounded like something dead hit my window, but louder. It better not be another bat. I got in trouble from my parents trying to help one that was almost dead on my fire escape. I put down my book, grabbed a baseball bat I kept by my bed for intruders, and made my way toward my window. When I opened the blinds, there was this dark limp figure spread out over my fire escape. Through the darkness I could make out an R in a lighter color on his chest. Robin. Wow, Robin is almost dead on my fire escape. I opened the window and tried to assess what I could of his current condition. A sword layed next to him and his face was cut and bruised up with a pretty bad one around his eye as the snowflakes started to cover his unmoving long eyelashes. I poked his ribs with the end of my bat. He groaned in pain. Well he wasn’t dead, at least that’s good. Figuring it was a better idea to have Batman and Robin on my good side, even though I couldn’t think of a reason I would be on their bad side, I decided to help the injured boy instead of leaving him vulnerable to the jaws of Gotham.

I grabbed Robin’s wrists, hoping that they were not broken, and started to drag him into my room. He groaned out of pain every time I pulled, but he didn’t fight me. Probably didn’t have the energy anymore. I needed to figure out why he was so weak. I picked him up as best as I could with my weak arms and laid him on my bed. I didn’t care if he got my sheets bloody, they would wash out. I quickly went back to the window, whipped all the snow off my balcony so no one suspected anything, shut my window, latched it, and closed my blinds. No one is seeing this vulnerable Robin. The city needs him and the rest of the Batman group to be strong and fearless.

I looked at the rise and fall of his chest, ok he’s breathing. No hugely bleeding spots that I can see, but I’m not sure if he’s going to let me take off his suit to get a really good look. I slowly move my hand toward his neck, but retract it before I can get too close. Best to try to see if he’s awake now and establish at least a working relationship.

“Robin.”

“What?” He didn’t sound confused, so that’s good. He kinda sounded like he was giving me the cold shoulder, but I’m not going to take it too personal. He probably had a rough night.

“Ok, well, my name is Y/n. I’m not going to hurt you or fight you. You landed on my balcony half dead and really hurt. I’m not going to force you to do anything, but is it okay if I take off your suit or parts of it to make sure you’re not extremely hurt or bleeding anywhere else?”

“No.” I was expecting that. “You’re asking me to drop my guard and be a defenseless civilian.”

“First of all, even in your REALLY battered state right now, I’m pretty sure you could kick my ass if you wanted to, not gonna to lie. Second of all, would anyone who’s trying to help you hurt you?” That was probably a stupid question. He’s probably been double crossed countless times.

“In my line of work. Yes.” Figured.

“Okay, it’s your choice to bleed out if I can’t figure out if you’re bleeding at all.” I picked up whatever book was closest. Dang it, some of his blood got on the cover. Well, it made Murder on the Orient Express more murderous. I just kept reading my book on the floor. He could leave if he wanted to. I couldn’t stop him. I didn’t even turn when I heard him grunting through the pain and rustling my bedspread. I thought I was going to hear his boots hitting the ground next to me to make his way out of my room, but that’s not what I heard at all. It sounded like the clicks of a keyboard and then the sound of metal hitting each other and the soft thud of it hitting my bedspread. I turned to look up at him. He was sitting on the edge of the bed with his chest plate armor off along with his cape/hood, but his domino mask was still on. That would be enough. His chest was littered with old white scars, purple and green bruises at different stages of healing, and some new red cuts that he probably got tonight. I put my book back down and grabbed some exam gloves while he heaves himself to lay back on my bed. “Anywhere you’re super concerned about?” Figured it would be better to ask. I’m pretty sure he hurts all over, but I couldn’t tell that, and I currently can’t see any gushing blood on his skin. Just some pretty purple bruises that scored his ribs, some small but long cuts that were bleeding near the top of his chest, and a couple of white scars painted his lower abdomen. For someone you assumed who’s been through a lot to be his age and fighting with Batman, he didn’t look too bad. He shook his head no at me.

I left him on my bed and returned with a small bar soap and a small plastic bucket, which I use to shave my legs with, filled with tempered water, and a couple washcloths.

I got the washcloths wet and dabbed them on the soap so it wouldn’t sting his cuts too badly, but clean his slightly dark skin so there would be a less chance of infection. I kept looking up at his eyes. His emerald green eyes. Part of my brain wants to look at his eyes just for pleasure and the other wants to make sure his nervous system is okay.

“Why do you keep staring at my eyes? Do I look that bad?” Even though his facial expression was completely serious, I couldn’t tell if it was a joke or not. I decided to play it safe and repeat the first logical thing that came to my head.

“Well, I’m watching the skin behind your eyes because I don’t know what other people hit you over the head tonight. So if the skin behind your eyes turns black, also called racoon eyes, it could mean you had severe head trauma and your cerebrospinal fluid, which is the fluid surrounding your brain and spinal cord, is leaking and you need way more care than I could provide. You would need a hospital at that point.” His facial expression to me couldn’t tell whether to be impressed or offended.

“You seem too young to be a doctor.”

“You seem to young to be Batman.” Damn my big mouth. I was SURE he was going to march out of my room. He did stare at me with an ‘if looks could kill, you’d be six feet under’ look. Better try to explain myself quickly. “Both of my parents are ICU doctors who specialize in trauma, and since I want to be a Veterinarian, some of their knowledge rubs off on me.”

I tried to avoid his eye contact after that because I couldn’t tell whether I was on his good side or not. I couldn’t do much with my limited current skill, but I squeezed his skin together to make the skin as close together as possible before I put some gauze and bandages over them, which were Superman bandaids ok, don’t judge me. I look up at him while finishing my work to find his deep emerald eyes focusing behind me where my books lay. I turned over my shoulder to find him staring at my Veterinarian book.

“You like animals, because you keep staring at my Vet book?”

“They’re nicer than people sometimes and that’s the reason why I’m a vegetarian now.” You’re just glad the thick air between the two of you has broken. He was actually becoming a better person to talk to.

“You just gotta make sure you replace your nutritional intake that you would have gotten from meat. That’s the main mistake people make when going vegan is they become too deficient in protein.”

“Why do you want to be a Vet, may I ask?” I sat next to him on my bed as I was done patching him up and we were just talking like old friends at this moment.

“Animals are just so complex it’s really cool. For instance, cows have four stomachs and if they have gas trapped in their 4th stomach, how you fix it is you twist their head so their sense of balance gets off, roll them on their back, listen for the stomach which would sound like a balloon, sew it to the belly wall, then roll them right side up so the stomach stays in the correct place.”

“I actually have a cow that I rescued from a slaughterhouse.” He shared this fact before thinking that maybe he shouldn’t mention it. What was she doing to me?

“WOW Really?!?! I mean, I don’t think you would let me see them because that would reveal your identity, but that’s still really cool.”

**BANG!!**

A noise of someone landing not so gently on my fire escape silenced the room. Robin put his finger to his lips and I nodded in response not wanting to move or make a sound.

He silently got off my bed and crept over to the window, making sure to stay crouched out of sight. He slowly moved the curtain to peek through the glass. After a moment he threw open the window.

“What are you doing here?”

“Your tracker was off and you weren't answering any of your calls. We tracked your last location to around here and found the balcony with significantly less snow on it figuring you had to go into hiding.” Ok that HAD to be Batman, there was no way that deep scary voice wasn’t him. Even though you haven’t had any interaction with him before, and you’d like to keep it that way, that’s just what you’d imagine him sounding like.

“Who you got in there birdie that you had to take your shirt off for?” Ok this was a completely less mature voice than Batman. I suspect it’s one of the other and maybe former robins, but I couldn’t tell which one without being able to look out the window.

“I didn’t want to leave her company. I’ll be out in a sec.” Robin closed the window with more force than you think he intended.

“So there IS a SHE! We were scared you were dead again.” You heard muffled through the window glass and THAT you couldn’t help but laugh at.

I picked up Robin’s suit as he turned back towards me and I helped him get it on without messing up my stitching job too much. As the final pieces of his hood came on and he picked up his sword, he turned towards me in the darkness of my room.

“So this is goodbye I guess.” I say with only a little sadness behind it. I mean, what else am I supposed to think. He landed on my balcony by accident. He has no obligation to me, nor would I think he would want an obligation.

“Don’t be certain of that beloved.” Woah, I like that nickname. “I might just crash on your balcony on purpose next time.” He said with a smirk. He turned and opened my window and left without a trace. Well, not exactly, because I heard multiple metal clanks of the fire escapes from multiple people jumping on them. Maybe tonight wasn’t the worst night to get lost in a book.

SPRING 2024 ANIME RECOMMENDATIONS

The anime industry needs to chill the fuck out. Literally stop. This isn't your heart.

If you somehow have time left over after the 86,000 returning series this season, watch these new cartoons also.

ZACK’S RECOMMENDATION #1: Kaiju No. 8

For the sake of full disclosure, I ended up dropping this manga after about a year when due to a number of reasons I had to play catch-up on a bunch of Jump and Jump+ titles. I ultimately decided cuts needed to be made and this was one of them, but I made that cut with the full knowledge that it would eventually get a kick-ass anime and I was right because I’m always right.

The anime looks better than I’d hoped and sounds better than I imagined. The background music sounds like something from a blockbuster movie, and I mean that as a compliment, considering that's basically what it is. Even if you’re not really into kaiju, this is still worth checking out. Unless you’re allergic to beautiful animation and/or poop jokes.

ZACK’S RECOMMENDATION #2: A SALAD BOWL FULL OF ECCENTRICS

This series became a lock for my recommendation this season (even over the train anime, which is very good and you should also watch) the moment I discovered it’s based on a light novel by the same guy who wrote Haganai and A Sister’s All You Need. I’ve never read any of the novels in question because I’m illiterate but I enjoy both of those anime very much (though I will admit that the latter is not for everyone). Haganai transed my gender and for that reason alone I will support Yomi Hirasaka (by watching and recommending anime adaptations of his books. Alas! if I could only read) ‘til my dying day.

This was a solid premier on its own merits, as well. The characters are fun and likeable, the jokes land pretty much every time (at the very least, I can’t immediately think of any that didn’t), and reverse isekai stories are still uncommon enough to be fun. There is the unfortunately ever-present concern that Our Hero will turn out to be a sex pest, but based on Hirasaka’s track record I’m not too worried about that. Really, more than Haganai or A Sister’s All You Need, the anime this premier kept making me think of the most was Hanamatsuri (side note: you should watch Hanamatsuri.)

Also, look at her. She’s reading Detective Conan. I’m reading Detective Conan. That’s so cool of both of us.

CHARLIE’S RECOMMENDATION #1: Chillin’ in Another World with Level 2 Cheat Powers

Fairly standard fare for the cozy isekai sub-genre, but it’s a decent way to spend half an hour, if you don’t mind the harem aspects.

CHARLIE’S RECOMMENDATION #2: Grandpa and Grandma Turn Young Again

It was fine, I guess. Watched it because the premise seemed cute, and I wasn’t wrong. Felt like a short comic but animated, and the art was good. Really wish they didn’t have family members lusting after the grandparents, though.

Genuinely curious as to if you asked permission to use Rachel’s characters and she said yes or if you just decided Lore Olympus is popular enough to make a fan comic of and are hoping you don’t receive a cease and desist? Can anyone create a remake comic of original content and just change what you don’t like about it and it’s considered legal if you say the characters belong to the original creator? There is plenty of disappointing media out there that could be remade. I understand you cannot use their characters for profit so is just posting it ok?

Yes, anyone can, because it's called fanfiction lmao Obviously in my case the term "fan" is being used loosely here as at this point it's more like "foe"fiction LMAO but the same principles apply. Unless I try to claim LO is my own creation or make a profit off Rekindled, I should be in the clear. If legal action was taken against me then it would set a precedent against all forms of fanfiction, rewrite, redraw, etc. content around LO which are all essentially doing the same thing Rekindled is doing. I think people tend to view Rekindled as somewhat of an "exception" that's vulnerable to legal action because it's an actual weekly comic put into practice in the same playing field as LO (though they're on massively different bases obviously LOL), but there's not much more separating it from the LO redraw accounts or even the genuine fan accounts that have learned how to draw in Rachel's style (and use it to make their own LO self-inserts and whatnot). I had the time and resources and experience to do what I do through Rekindled, but every redraw, rewrite, fanfiction, etc. account are making the exact same statement I am, whether intentionally or not - "I do/don't like the canon, but/so here's what I think it would be like if it went like this".

There is definitely plenty of media out there that could be remade, and a lot of them are by the fanfiction writers out there who are filling that niche within their respective fandoms. LO is the one I want to do because it's the one that interests me and compels me the most to rewrite.

Not to mention, it's already a bold statement in and of itself to say that I'm "using Rachel's characters", a statement that likely wouldn't hold up in court LMAO Her "characters" are literally just stylized self-insert versions of public domain figures. She did not write The Hymn to Demeter. She did not create Hades, or Persephone, or Hecate, or any of the other characters she writes about. She does not own an entire religion or its deities. The only thing that she really "owns" is the licensing rights to the name "Lore Olympus", and while the style of LO is very unique and identifiable, you can't trademark/copyright a style because that uproots the entire foundation of what art is (ironically no one has had an original idea SINCE the Greeks, we all just learn and adapt our styles based on other artists that we get inspired by and learn from).

Shit, there are series completely unrelated to LO that get harassed or otherwise warned that they could cross into "legal territory" with LO just because they're Greek myth comics. Punderworld, Theia Mania, H x P Ficlets, all of these are comics that also tackle the H x P myth, and while they aren't attempting to do the same thing as Rekindled (as they exist on their own terms) it's really disappointing when I see people talk about these comics purely through the scope of Lore Olympus as if LO invented Greek myth. If WT/Rachel tried to pull rank over the story's "characters", they'd be picking a fight with every other Greek myth comic, book, movie, etc. and they oughta know that's not a fight they're gonna win lol

So everything beyond LO's branding is, in and of itself, fanfiction. Rekindled is just another level deeper by being fanfiction of a fanfiction. As long as I'm not profiting off Lore Olympus' namesake or distributing my work with the misconception that I created LO, it's legally fine. Morally, I'm sure it doesn't exactly make me a saint to do it, it definitely took a lot of hubris for me to say "yeah I don't like how you wrote your story enough that I felt the need to rewrite it completely" and I wouldn't blame anyone for thinking doing so is icky. There are certain lines I won't cross - I don't use the general LO hashtags because my content is very critical and my work isn't really for the fans, I don't encourage anyone to "show Rachel" what I do here because none of what I do here is obligated to be seen by her (and I know it wouldn't be in her best interest to see it anyways, she's literally said that she doesn't like criticism so why tf would I wanna show her a comic that exists to criticize her work lol), and I'm not planning on posting it to Webtoons because that's Rachel's territory. I don't want to overstep both in the legal sense and in the moral one. I think it's more than enough for me to just post my stuff here for the people who are seeking it, and not profit off it or directly affiliate it with LO/Rachel beyond crediting.

All that said, in a moral and legal sense, what I'm doing is literally the basis of fanfiction, and I wouldn't be going to such lengths and spending this much time every week putting out episodes every week if I never cared about LO and how it made us all feel, even if some of us don't love it as much as we used to.

My problem with Mal Bertha from Disney Descendants

I know that probably nobody is gonna read this but idc.

I think enough time has pass, so it's time to have this conversation. Mal is the worst character from all the franchise (ik this might upset some people since she is the protagonist but she's is a horrible person and that has to be acknowledged)

This is going to be based in the movies, books and the mini series

Also I want to make clear that this is not against Dove Cameron(that's gonna be for another post) . With that being said let's start.

1) She's a bully

This is the most obvious reason and it makes me mad that she got away with it.

During the book and movies she bullied Evie, Carlos, Uma, Mad Maddy and Jane

in the first book she basically ruined Evie's life just because The Evil Queen didn't invite her to Evie's sixth birthday. First made her mother (Maleficent) put under home arrest Evie and her mom for literally 10 years and when the girl finally get the courage to get out of her house thinking that everything is forgotten, Mal tried to killed her multiple times

Mal literally locked Evie in Cruella's closed during Carlos's party knowing that they were traps in there and she could have been extremely injured (that was actually her plan but luckily Carlos saved Evie)

And that's not even the worst, because Mal was also planing on using Evie to get Maleficent's scepter back by letting her grab the scepter and get the same curse that maleficent gave to Aurora (fall sleep for 100 years).

And mentioning Carlos's party I need to add that kinda threatened him to make the party just so she could have her "revenge". It's important also to mention that Carlos didn't wanted to make the party because that would have caused him problems with his mom.

And the worst about this is that they both ending being her friends like nothing happened and being Mal's minions for the rest of their lifes

And some people in the fandom dare to call Evie "a bad friend" In the last to movies just because she stand up to Mal.

Maddy and Uma are kind of the same but in different ways

Because Mal was bestfriends with both but then betrayed them and humiliated then like the Judas she is.

(But Evie is the bad friend?)

With Maddy she literally threw lye on her, completely ruining her hair, forcing her to change her hair from purple to aqua green just because Mal felt like she should be the only purple hair girl on the Isle.

As I said Uma was a similar case because Mal also ruined her hair by throwing a bucket of shrimps on her, leaving the stink on her hair forever and then maked fun of her because of that calling her "shrimpy"

NO WONDER WHY THEY BOTH HATE HER

Jane was an insecure girl with no friends that was constantly bullied for her looks and Mal literally used that in her favor, manipulating her by using every single one of her insecurities against her.

And at the end she just had to say "I'm sorry" and everything was forgotten and she literally received no consequences. (And in some cases like Maddy and Uma' s she didn't even apologize)

And to finish this point I just want to mention that she was abusive to Ben and ALL AURADON KNEW IT, because Audrey in "Audrey's royal return mentions Mal's two attempts at spelling Ben. The first one is understandable to think that she knew that something was wrong with Ben and that she probably drugged him (which she did)

But how did she knew about the second one?

The only answer is that someone must have tell her about that and also that Mal run away to the isle opening the barrier and putting Auradon in danger and also causing Ben's (The king) kidnap

which mean that probably everyone in the kingdom knew about it AND DID NOTHING, not even Ben's parents, like why do you let your son get married with someone who is constantly putting him in danger?

And talking about the wedding and Mal being a bully just imagine the reaction of all of those children when they saw that their bully was gonna be their Queen. Life sucks!

2) she's a liar/ manipulator that victimize herself

If I could describe Mal in one word would be selfish because most of the time she only thinks about herself and what would be the best for her not minding if she affects others in the way.

I already mentioned how she manipulated Jane in the first movie

But now let's talk about the second movie

Basically this whole movie was her playing the victim when everything was technically her fault

Ben calling her out by ILLEGALLY using her magic and then her victimizing herself by playing the Jughead Jones "I don't fit in" card

Her running away indirectly causing Ben's kidnap and Uma's scape

Literally if she had just talk to Ben about how she felt instead of lying and using her magic to make everything easier for her, everything could have been avoided.

The third movie is when Mal selfishness and manipulative behavior is more noticeable

Let's star with Audrey becoming the villian in consequence for Mal giving Ben the love potion causing Ben not only dumping Audrey but also humiliating her in from of the whole school, so I'm sorry but she had every right to be mad at Mal.

Then, her wanting to close the barrier forever leaving all that innocent children to die in hunger and poverty just because she didn't wanna risk her perfect life in Auradon is just pure selfishness. Literally everyone else in the room thought that was a drastic solution.

To make it even worse she just lied to everyone for the rest of the movie.

She lied to Evie saying that was theirs idea and later when she gets caught she just plays the victim once again by saying she didn't have a choice and also confirming her selfishness by saying "I did it for us" NOT THE KINGDOM and even Evie's says that she did it for herself.

And do not forget how she lied to Uma, Harry and Gil by promising them that she was going to take all of the children from the isle to Auradon (even though she knew that that was never gonna happen) only for make them help her to defeat Audrey.

And in my opinion destroying the barrier was she stupidest decision ever made. The villains will try to get revenge.

But this is just my opinion.

Next I will be writing about my problem with the saga in general and I'll try to fix it. Follow me if you want to read it

Thinking more about the Eighth Doctor / War in Heaven / Time War timeline, and I remain convinced that the Doctor is in Gallifrey's future timeline for the near entirity of the EDAs.

What's more, I think it's possible to pinpoint the exact moment the protocols of linearity broke and the Doctor got thrown out of sync with Gallifrey's relative time. This may also be the exact moment where the Great Grey Eminence makes his deal to rewrite Romana's presidency.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, it all comes down to the TV Movie.

In the beginning of the movie, we have the Doctor explicitly travelling from Skaro to Gallifrey, 5725.2 RE. What's more, it's the "Local Dateline" so we know that's the actual date there, and not just the Doctor's own relative time.

This is following on from Lungbarrow, where President Romana enlists the Doctor with retrieving the Master's remains as part of the "Act of Master Restitution".

Now, we don't see a different RE date in the movie, but do we get a glimpse of Gallifrey at the end, and something is...well...off...

Incidentally, have you ever paid attention to the dialogue here? First of all there's the contentious line about Gallifrey being "250,000,000 ly away" on the other side of the galaxy, contradicting the usual placement of Gallifrey 29,000 ly away at the centre of the galaxy. But there's something else the Doctor says first:

DOCTOR: So, let's see where we are. There. The future. LEE: Wow. DOCTOR: Look over there, on the other side of your galaxy. That's home. GRACE: Gallifrey. DOCTOR: Two hundred and fifty million light years away. That's a good ten minutes in this old thing. GRACE: So, where are we? DOCTOR: December twenty ninth. Do you want to get off here?

Note, the Doctor simultaneously says the TARDIS is in 'the future' and still on December 29th. Seemingly, the "future" the Doctor is referring to is Gallifrey's, and his own. In other words, the planet we see isn't 5725.2 RE Gallifrey, but 6916? RE (estimated based on Romana III being 150 years into her presidency in The Ancestor Cell) Gallifrey.

It should also be noted that the TV movie seems to be the one time in the series where Gallifrey's present and Earth's present are actually synced up, at least roughly. Technically previous Gallifrey stories all take place in Earth's past, whereas later stories take place in Earth's future.

This can actually be inferred from the TV Movie itself, based on the TARDIS console, even before the Master starts meddling. It's seen aiming for December 30th, despite present-day Gallifrey being the target. Though granted, it could be that the RE time control - bottom right in the left image - is disconnected from the other date controls.

Considering the time between Greyjan's presidency and the TV Movie for the Doctor/Gallifrey and the Earth, roughly 250 years for both, also supports this, further cementing that the 'future' line can't make sense if it's meant to be a present-day Gallifrey.

My personal take is that the Nine Gallifreys project has already been initiated by this point in the future. It's ambiguous whether we're looking at the original planet, moved and disguised, or one of the cloneworlds, although given it's the Doctor who shows us, I assume the prior. Either way, if the project is active then it's another sign we're in the future, as according to the Book of the War, it's not initiated until 400 years after Greyjan's death, in contrast to the 250 years previously mentioned. (I do have some issues with Book of the War's timeline, but this isn't necessarily one of them.)

We also see history has changed in The Eight Doctors, which takes place directly after the movie's events where we do actually get to see the present-day Gallifrey monitoring the Doctor as he continues unstuck from his own time, albeit in his past rather than future. In contrast to Lungbarrow, Flavia is now president once more and seemingly has been since the Doctor's trial, with Romana's presidency now having seemingly never occured. This concurs with Big Finish's stories, where Romana doesn't become president until 6776 RE. On Flavia's Gallifrey, there is no mention of the Doctor's mission to recover the Master's remains.

I don't think it's a coincidence that the timeline begins to change at the same time the Doctor gets thrown out of sync with Gallifrey.

OK, so the Doctor's linearity with Gallifrey seemingly breaks during the events of the TV movie, but when exactly?

The answer's pretty simple, actually. For the TARDIS to have jumped in relative time, it must have skipped a time track, hence also the changes in history. Usually when a time track is skipped we see some turbulence in the TARDIS and usually some damage causing sparks, maybe some monitor glitches. See the beginning of The Empty Child as an example.

And what do we see at the beginning of the movie?

Now obviously some of the damage is likely from the Deathworm!Master's sabotage, but things are clearly getting weird even before he starts meddling, none of which is ever explained beyond cinematic flavour, even by the books which went out of their way to explain the Master's survival.

We even see the record literally skipping, exactly the same analogy used for jumping time tracks.

And so the Doctor gets thrown out of his own place in time for the next century or so...

The red flag book purists

This post can be in regard to many recent book to film (or TV) adaptations including Neil Gaiman's The Sandman, Dead boy Detectives, and Good Omens. Andrzej Sapkowski's The Witcher. And Anne Rice's Interview with The vampire, and The Mayfair Witches. I am going to address a pattern I've seen and you may associate it with a different book to TV or film adaptation. I used to consider myself a book purist. Maybe I still am. I preferred book to TV or movie adaptations be as faithful as possible. In general I still do but there are occasions where I think the adaption improves the source material. I think the 1994 film Interview with The Vampire has a better ending than the novel. I think Tim Burton's Sleepy Hollow is more interesting and has more relatable characters than the Washington Irving story. Though updated to take place in the 1990s the version of The Canterville Ghost starring Patrick Stewart is my favorite adaptation of the novel. The stop motion animated musical Nightmare before Christmas, which teeters on being a Danny Elfman Opertta, I like the Nightmare before Christmas film more than the original Tim Burton poem. And though only very, very, very loosely based on the Edgar Allan Poe poem, The Raven (1963) is my favorite Vincent Price movie. And as kind of a guilty pleasure I have a soft spot for versions of Dracula that are both predatory but romantic like Bram Stoker's Dracula and the 1979 Dracula film starring Frank Langella. And, yes, Castlevania. Again, I considered myself a book purist but there are exceptions where I admit that the changes improve upon the original story. Lately I've seen people call themselves book purists and it's become something of a dog whistle for something else. It feels almost like this new breed of book purist discredits the original meaning which wants integrity to the story. I.e. no rape scene just for shock value. (I'm talking about you, Game of Thrones and Interview with the Vampire TV series). This new form of so-called book purist which I have to come up with a name for... Let's call it Book Puritan for now until I can come up with something better. The book puritan seems like the typical book purist at first. They just really, really like the source material but the more you talk to them the more you realize they are actually upset about something other than respecting the original books. Here are the top ten things complained about by Book Puritans. 1. They get upset if a character's skin color is changed or other race based complaints even though it has no impact on the story at all. "This character shouldn't be black!" They will complain about agenda and sometimes the character in question didn't even have a race to begin with, like Death in The Sandman. She's literally The Grim Reaper. She can be any race she feels like.

2. They get upset about gender swaps. "This character was originally a man!" I understand if you have a particular visual in your head of a character but if you think the interactions will drastically change meaning and feeling because the male character is now a woman perhaps you should consider your own bias on the subject. Or perhaps the original story was something of a sausage fest and even the author wanted to add more women to the mix.

Sometimes this is not actually a good thing. Changing Lestat's lover Antoine into Antoinette in the Interview with The vampire TV series bordered on straightwashing just to make his bisexuality more blatant. Also Lestat making her mutilate herself (cut off a finger) to fake her own death contradicted how Lestat acts with his lovers in the novels and was ultimately pointless since they kill pretty regularly and Lestat could have taken the finger from any woman's corpse. In the most recent remake of Children of the Corn they had the child preacher be a little girl instead of a boy. This attempt at inclusion undermined the patriarchal symbolism of a fanatical Christian-like cult and felt like another crude dig against matriarchal religions like the remake of The Wicker Man. So you see from my own examples sometimes there are understandable exceptions. But *In general* character gender swaps don't usually do any harm to the story. 3. They get upset because characters that were not confirmed as queer in the original stories are now openly queer. "But he was straight in the novels!" Not necessarily. Sometimes characters are queer coded or "overly straight" (compensating) to hide that the character is not straight to the casual observer. You have to consider that some novels written thirty or forty years ago had to contend with homophobic publishers.

Though Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles seem pretty obvious to a lot of people and there are scenes of Armand actually calling Daniel his lover and Lestat asking Louis why he loves him, etc, there are still people out there convinced that Anne Rice's vampires are straight. I can still recall back in the 90s being an Anne Rice yahoo group and someone responding to a post with "My Prince Charming is STRAIGHT!!!" (this was in regard to Louis).

Now, today the flamboyant bard Jaskier (translated as Dandelion in the English language novels and directly translates to Buttercup) was confirmed as bisexual in The Witcher Netflix series. And there are "Purists" genuinely angry about this.

Their biggest shield of "We just want book accuracy" is the fact that there are scenes of him "womanizing" and being a promiscuous flirt with women but never men. So what? So what if The Witcher's sidekick is bisexual? If it supposedly shouldn't matter why are you upset? How does it harm the main story? One argument I was given is “It’s important that he look gay without being gay as to break the stereotype.” And yet others will claim there was never any hint that he wasn’t straight. Which is it? Is it he was a stereotypical queer man who was actually straight or there was supposedly no sign that he was ever queer. Make up your mind. Sometimes the LGBTQ+ content was always there such as in Neil Gaiman's The Sandman and the person who supposedly read it went into such a deep denial that they genuinely didn't see it when originally reading the story. 4. They get upset if an old bit of sexism in the original story is corrected. i.e. the occasional Witcher fan who insists (despite the video games) that Ciri can NEVER be a "real Witcher" because "only men can be Witchers." I once got into an argument with a Witcher fan who insisted that despite what the video games say, because she wasn't mutated and never went through the Trial of the Grasses, Ciri can never be a true Witcher. And it's "Important" that no woman ever be a Witcher. Really? Why is that so important to maintain?

Just because something always was a certain way doesn't necessarily mean it should remain that way. 5. They question if a character was changed when the character was actually always that way. This could be in regard to a character being gay or it could be in regard to a character being Jewish. I remember when the still from Coraline circulated with her celebrating Hannukah and people thought it was fan made because everyone was just so used to the default that all characters are presumed Christian until told otherwise.

This sort of thing is common, taking for granted that a character is just like you or fits a “normalcy” unless explicitly told otherwise. This also accounts for a lot of characters being presumed straight until shown otherwise.

When I was watching Penny Dreadful there were people upset that Ethan was “made” gay (revealed as bisexual) in episode 4 of the first season “because there was no sign of it before. It’s set in 1891. How was he supposed to “act” bisexual? There were people in such denial that they convinced themselves that the man he slept with, Dorian Gray, had put him under some sort of spell. The irony is Ethan wasn’t even revealed as being a werewolf until the end of the season and his real name wasn’t given until season 2 but somehow him being bisexual and it being revealed in the fourth episode of the fifth season was “out of left field” and “made no sense.”

Imagine if Buffy The Vampire Slayer fans reacted to the reveal (that I predicted at age fifteen) that Angel is a vampire. They didn’t confirm that until the fifth episode of Buffy. 6. They seem okay with added domestic violence or sexual abuse (i.e. rape scenes) which would also contradict previous depictions of some characters' personalities but will complain if and implied gay character gets to kiss on camera or a woman character gets to do something assertive that she didn't do in the source material and does not contradict any character personality trait. 7. They will argue that something "Is not canon" unless the author put in the original story even if the author confirms it after the fact and can prove where they hinted at (though didn't confirm) the thing in the original content. i.e. J. K. Rowling confirming that Dumbledore is gay.

I understand LGBTQ+ people being angry at this (and far worse things J. K. Rowling has done...) because she should have been brave enough to address it in the story itself but I'm speaking of those that refuse to accept that Dumbledore is gay and will even argue that if they accept he's gay it means Voldemort is gay too and they're all suddenly ped0s. I kid you not, I had to remove someone who went on this very rant from my Sandman Facebook group. This is also true with the elderly lesbian couple in Coraline. There are people angry that Neil Gaiman didn't out-right call them a couple in the story even though there were several pretty blatant hints. But at least with that one there are less people insisting it's not really canon. Probably because they DO behave like an old Hollywood / Vaudeville gay couple.

8. They seem okay with added content that wasn't in the novel until or if a woman or minority gets to shine in the extra portion of story. This can be in regard to a passing-of-the-torch or just a scene that was not in the original books but added to enhance the original story. Somehow this might upset them greatly even if the added content dos not contradict any of the original books. It's just an added bit of story. The only reason I could think of to be upset at an added scene is if that scene suddenly and drastically contradicts the character's established personality. i.e. a scene of Morpheus in Neil Gaiman's The Sandman opening a dance club and favoring Gangsta rap. Thankfully this particular scenario does not exist. 9. They kind of accidentally out themselves as having not read the books that they claim they want to keep pure by whining about "woke" content that was IN the original story. i.e. Sandman fans surprised at all the LGBTQ+ characters. 10. They out themselves as having not watched the thing that they are complaining about. "I refuse to watch The Sandman because I heard that the only character Death is a black woman." Buddy, you misunderstood. The Grim Reaper is played by a black woman. There are lots of white people who die. Or "I don't understand The Witcher: Blood Origin. It doesn't make sense. Geralt wasn't born a Witcher. They're sterile!" Yes... They are. Do I need to explain the plot of the show you decided not to watch even though there are Wikias? It does tell a story that doesn't exist in the books but you seem to have leapt to conclusions by the name alone. These sort of Book Purists (Book Puritans) make me embarrassed for appreciating and wanting the integrity of characterization and story from the original books (in adaptations) kept in tact. It's reached a point where if I complain that Lestat shouldn't be physically abusive to Louis in Interview with The vampire (TV series) and they should never have added a random scene of Claudia being raped by a teenage vampire - someone else will give the kneejerk reaction "You just don't like it because Louis is black now!" Actually I think the Louis and Lestat actors are excellent. It's the writers and showrunner I don't like. I want to be able to explain the parts of the story and character I care about and want preserved without people assuming I'm doing a bigoted dog whistle because of this newer version of book purist. These book puritans are giving us actual book lovers a bad name. End of rant.

4. If you could put this character in any other media, be it a book, a movie, anything, what would you put them in?

Probably to one of Jane Austen's works. Yes, he has... less than redeeming qualities, but he does have a good heart deep down. He's a misguided man, who, should he find himself a partner, would need to be strong willed. And I think that he'd fit into Jane Austen's works. I'm thinking about the most famous one of them, Pride and Prejudice, but perhaps someone who's more familiar with her works, might be able to place him into another one as well.

5. What’s the first song that comes to mind when you think about them?

Okay so... I thought about making a fic based on this song with Nozel (or I planned on making it into a series)

12. What’s a headcanon you have for this character?

Oh I have so many angsty headcanons for him, but... lets try something more positive for him.

He has a sweet tooth. Particularly raspberry or cherry confection (chocolates). Catch him in his office on a Friday evening with his feet up, (if it's winter with wool socks on) with a glass of wine and a box of confectionery.

He would never spill that secret, because pride, but... he also wouldn't mind if it resulted into a spontaneous chocolate box and a wine evening....

17. What’s a ship for this character you don’t hate but it’s not your favorite that you’re fine with?

Uhh... Norothy? Dorozel? I'm not even sure what's the ship name for it, but Nozel x Dorothy. I don't mind the ship, and I don't mind writing for it, but to me they're more friends and their relationship is aching more to doctor-patient -type.

As said, I don't mind it. It's just not my favourite ship with Nozel. Personal preferences

25. What was your first impression of this character? How about now?

He was a cold asshole for sure, but there were some scenes even early on that made me think that there was more to him than just that. There was something about how he was furious about Fue being in a coma due to the EOTMNSs that made me think that he actually did care for a friend. That it wasn't a simple matter of pride.

And as the series went on, until present day, that feeling just grew stronger. Nozel is someone who cares very, very deeply, but he struggles to show it and speak it out. However, he'd to go hell and back for his near and dear, and is someone who is... self-sacrificing. His will and need to protect others sometimes is so strong, that it'll cloud his better judgement. Though one ought to also take into account that Nozel was essentially orphaned (I am not counting Papa Silva as a parental figure. He told Noelle what a disgrace she was! Papa Silva is no father. Just a sperm donor if you ask me), at the age of 15-16 and was placed under a lot of responsibility. He did what he did in order to keep his little sister away from the frontlines and the most serious of battles. Yes, his ways were misguided to put it mildly, but he did what he thought was right at the time. And I suspect that it was a plan that he came up when he was far younger, and felt that he needed to see through with it. "In too deep" so to say.

Nozel is an incredibly complex and well crafted character.

Topper: "What do you mean? She and I are just hanging out for a bit."

Hariet: "Exactly. SHE. You need to dress to impress!"

Topper: "Impress...? We're already friends—What do you mean impress??"

Hariet: "Well, don't you want her to like you?"

Topper: "... Yeah...?"

Hariet: "Then wear a suit!!"

Topper: "I wear suits everyday. How would wearing yet another suit impress her? Actually- Why don't I get Spewart's advice on this? He's the fashion expert!!"

Hariet: "I'm not giving you fashion advice, Tops. I'm giving you girl advice."

Topper: "Why??"

Hariet: "'Cuz I wanna help you!!"

Topper: "Help me do what???"

I'm going to put together a script so I don't have to just make it up on the spot. And maybe, if I phrase it right, Iggy will understand exactly what it is that he does that bothers me... And when he dates other guys in the future, they won't go through what I went through."

Hariet: "... Well... Why do you want to break up with him?"

Rango: "Just... Um... I mean... He doesn't actually seem to love me... I guess I didn't see it before. Other people had to help me figure it out... Iggy straight-up doesn't want anything to do with me most days. Can't even be bothered to answer my texts... And on the rare chance he does want to hang out, he never kisses or hugs me. All we end up doing is sex. And it isn't fun most of the time. With all his kinks and fetishes and toys... It's just not a fun experience overall. So, I'm done... I don't want to get into a fight with him. My plan is to make it as peaceful as possible..."

Hariet: "Hm... Have you ever considered that... Firstly, Iggy lives in a castle. He probably has lots of royal duties. And I'm sure the cell reception isn't all that great in there... Maybe that's why he doesn't always have time to hang out or text you back."

Rango: "... I didn't think of that..."

Hariet: "And who knows, maybe Iggy just isn't into hugging and kissing? He could be germaphobic and not want to do that because he think it's gross!"

Rango: "Iggy likes to... Do much grosser things than kiss... I doubt that he-"

Hariet: "Everyone has their own ways of showing affection! Iggy is probably TRYING to show you how much he cares!! He just, doesn't know how to do it right... I think that if you stick around, things will eventually start going how you want them to!"

Rango: "Well... What do you think I should do now?"

Hariet: "Go on another date with him!! See if you can get him to do other things! Take him to a museum or a festival! Some place that he can't just demand that you leave and go have sex. Some place that he'll be forced to enjoy himself! Perhaps then he'll be too distracted to do those things you don't like!"

Rango: "Okay!!!"

Hariet: "Mornin', Spewart!"

Spewart: "Good morning... What have you been up to lately?"

Hariet: "Just helping Topper and Rango with relationship stuff!"

Spewart: "... Wonderful."

Hariet: "So, I've been thinking... And I hope it's not too soon... I know you're probably still upset over Dee disappearing..."

Spewart: "........."

Hariet: "... But do you think you might ever go get another partner?"

Spewart: "........."

Spewart: "... Woah... Um..."

19) Which is the funniest moment in the series?

Moran in the anime version of the Phantom of Whitechapel arc, specifically at the start and end. I can't help but crack up when he calls Louis a "traitor". 'Cause it's like? How??? XD

To clarify: I know what he was getting at in that scene, but I can't help but laugh at him! At least he comes around later.

Then at the end when Jack joins the team, again, idk what Moran was so worked up about, but it's just so hysterical! Especially his "Huh?!" in the dub!

9) Sexiest character

Well, Moran is basically 75% of the series' fanservice; I mean, look at those muscles! Well, actually most of the guys are ripped-

Then of course, there's William with his infamous line that sends chills up my spine every time!

I don't think I can choose just one; I could so easily measure them on a scale of cute to sexy, however! (I'll have to do that for a separate post, though; these answers are getting kinda long-)

38) Do you read or watch any other adaptations of Sherlock Holmes?

As a matter of fact, I do! :)

The Granada TV series is one that I'll always recommend; it was actually what got me to read the canon again! The attention to detail and faithfulness to the source material are things I never get tired of. There is a reason subsequent adaptations pay homage to the late Jeremy Brett; he was literally born for the role. (Heck, he was even Jean Doyle's headcanon Sherlock)

And while I'm currently taking a break from it (very long story), the Hayao Miyazaki & Kyosuke Mikuriya collab that is Meitantei Holmes (known in English as Sherlock Hound) is another great anime based on Sherlock Holmes. It has many of the traits typical of the Ghibli movies. Need I say more? Also, that version of Moriarty is essentially inB4 Waluigi.

The Great Mouse Detective (the children's books, not the Disney film, though it's good too) is another series I've enjoyed so far, even though I've only covered three of the eight books so far. I look forward to continuing when I get the chance!

Much like YuuMori, these three are also really great introductions to the canon, or just enjoyable on their own.

I've seen others, too, but I don't think I can really recommend them as much. Maybe I should make a tier list one of these days!

14) What is your favorite quote or scene?

The scene in The Final Problem arc where Fred tells William there's really no reason for him to die had an impact on me.

Because aside from it being absolutely true, it's also the first time Fred speaks up without so much as a nudge from anyone else. That was all on his own accord. And if he does finally get a backstory in Part 2 (please Miyoshi-sensei!) , it will only add more to his speech later on. Though even without a backstory, it still tells us how much William means to Fred (and the others as well, obviously).

Omg I went to watch The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes with some co-workers and we absolutely loved it! What are your thoughts on it?

ooooo I have so many thoughts though I also wanna say I have not read the book yet (I was originally planning on waiting to read the book before I saw the movie but then my mom wanted to watch it and I wasn't gonna just say no-) but I am aware that there are differences between the two. so my thoughts are all mostly based off the movie but will likely change after I get around to reading the book

first and foremost I loved the production aspects of the film itself. the sets and costumes being vaguely 40s/50s inspired was so cool and such a fun way to show how much the Capitol has changed since then and the main series. in the main series movies we see the aesthetic of the Capitol as something incredibly ostentatious and over the top. we see that a little bit in tbosas (mostly with Tigris and Dr. Gaul, whose costumes felt the most 'Capitol-like' in terms of the Capitol aesthetic of the og trilogy) but for the most part while the outfits are a bit strange, there's nothing too out there. you can see the roots for how Panem got to what it is in the main trilogy, but you can see that at this point in time Panem really is a recovering war-ravaged city. it's just such fun silent worldbuilding that I really appreciated

(will cut this off here for spoiler talk from here on out)

now with the story, I was definitely thrown off a bit by the pacing at first. everything felt very fast and almost jarring for the first quarter of the movie. but I understand why they had to rush it given time constraints, and it wasn't bad enough to make the movie unenjoyable. outside of film talk though, I really did enjoy all the characters and mainly how they contrast to Snow despite how close they are with him

Tigris and Sejanus are the most obvious examples of this. Sejanus, of course, is from the districts first and foremost and empathizes with the other district citizens because he's one of them. With Tigris, although they're cousins, Tigris and Snow were far closer to siblings and you can see how deeply Tigris loves him. I saw one post saying that in a way, Snow was to Tigris what Prim was to Katniss and that comparison is making me insane because of how true it is. And despite their hardships, she feels so much compassion for other people, especially the tributes. She's the one who empathizes with Lucy Gray and points out how if she was in her situation, she'd just want to know someone cared about her. Despite most of the Capitol treating district citizens like they're another species, Tigris can put herself in their shoes and by all means Snow should be able to do the same given they both had the same rough upbringing.

And the worst part is, at least in the movie it seems that Snow is able to empathize with the people from the districts. He can understand what they've gone through. He and Lucy Gray commiserate over going hungry as children. He relates to them in a way few other Capitol citizens can.

The part I like the most about the story is that yes, Snow can understand the district citizens better than most Capitol people. He just chooses not to care. He chooses to be cruel time and time again. He chooses to step on everyone else to get what he wants. His descent is done so well, showing how despite having all the opportunity in the world to be a better person, despite everyone who cared about him believing he was good and could be a good man (Tigris, Sejanus, Lucy Gray) he simply chose not to be. And it just makes him so chilling.

I think one of my favorite bits with Snow was when Sejanus gets hanged. Snow flinches, he looks regretful knowing this was his doing. That he got his friend killed. He's not standing there smiling like this was his master plan all along. He's 18 years old and he just indirectly murdered his only friend, and for a brief moment, he feels sick. But then it's done. The sin has been committed. The only way now is forward.

again I'm just basing this all off the movie so maybe his thought process in the books was different I just really really liked how Snow's character was done. also I loved Lucy Gray of course and I think the worldbuilding with the Covey is so fascinating. but yeah this is already long enough so here are my rambles

This was such a bitch to write. I spent months trying to perfect it and got so frustrated that I neglected it completely. Still I didn't give up and wrote a dozen versions of it until I found the one that is close to what I had envisioned in my head. The unused versions were sitting in my drafts and I'll probably never let them out, just cause.

We all know that Hyunjin is so fucking pretty and if I ever get asked a person I would like to compare his beauty with, I wouldn't stutter to say Adonis. He's so beautiful it hurts, it's almost mythical. So I drew the inspiration from the star-crossed lovers of Adonis and Aphrodite, put all of his Pisces traits in it, his love for art, spicy angst on top and finished it off with a glass of ambrosia then voila!

Innings. (s,f) 🔥 You knew Seungmin as the baseball star slash campus heartrob and now, your partner on a project. But was there a hidden intention on why he wanted to work together with you?

Ngl. I fell in love with this couple that I created. I love how their relationship grew as I wrote them. Just fluffy and feel-good, something that everyone can easily relate to. I'm not ashamed to admit that I'm emotionally attached to them. Ah, to think that I'll post the last chapter soon makes me sad. I'll forever cherish both this fic and this Innings couple. (But mostly I don't want to let go of hot baseball player Seungmin)

Glass. (s) Han is a photographer who just moved into a new apartment and he couldn’t tell if it was accidental or fate that he saw you through the window of your apartment. And the next thing he knows, he spends most of his days watching you through his camera lens

My new favorite child. The first time I worked a fic from the ending first and worked out the rest after. I'm very aware that the ending is so BONKERS. I love seeing all of you losing your shit reading it and I'm here like "you didn't see that coming yeah?" OH THE FEELING!

Dark Red series. (s, horror, thriller)

Here's the thing, I love Halloween so. And here's the another thing, I love horror movies. I combined my two favorites into this and yes, I selfishly wrote this for myself. If you're familiar with Anne Rice books or watched Interview with the Vampire, you would know that I based vampire Hyunjin on Lestat and vampire Chan on Louis. I put little homages to my favorite horror movies in these fics as well. Fyi, Halloween is only two months away, you can't stop me from writing another chapter of this series. (Oh, my personal favorite is Chapter 2!)

Milk. (s,f) Jeongin didn’t expect to reunite with you during his vacation, the one that he remembers as his childhood sweetheart.

Very underrated, I would say. I loved writing it, I love the theme, I love how the story drowned you in their innocence and make you forget that you were reading a smut. It's pure and sweet and easy, pretty much like the title itself.

Double Take. (s) You reunited with Jeongin after being away from each other for months when all of sudden Bangchan caught you both during a steamy session.

My most favorite from my earlier, premature works. Look, I'm a perfectionist but I love this mess I made. I didn't even think if it's pleasing enough to read, I just went with it and I think that's the magic of it. Anyway, Jeongchan FTW!!!

So I wrote a lot of this down as a way to ground myself last night, some cute or otherwise just circulating thoughts about the lovely ASMR stories I'm listening to bring comfort when I can't sleep.

Ellis' listener comes in with hot tea from the coffee shop Bug works at so they can have a nice drink while reading/discussing their new book series. Maybe they aren't together yet and Ellis' grandmother comes into the shop and meets their listener, having heard so much about this fiery young person their grandchild goes on about.

Casey and Honey on autumn nature hike, Casey teaches Honey about autumn blooming plants as the crunch of leaves are underfoot. Gourd carving, doesn't have to be pumpkins, for the spooky season. Lauren gave them a list of themes they can all dress up as together to hand candy out for Halloween so they can match.

Dion tryna get out of the house as often as possible now that his family's guard is there, knowing Bunny wouldn't want him to follow since he can't disguise himself. Bunny levels with the bodyguard about going out in public looking like that and feels guilty leaving him but tends to promise they will bring back dinner for him and they can hang out and watch movies later. Dion is clingy now, making sure he has a point of contact with Bunny any time the three of them are together now. Pip and Roman testing out the gadget that plays music based on thoughts and feelings. At some point a love song plays and as they start to talk about it to confront what it meas when the song suddenly changes from sweet and loving to fearful, spooky. This could work for it being connected to either of them, both having something that scares and upsets them that could possibly show up at any time.

Cyril's parents whenever they find out about Cyril and them getting together, tryna set up a get together- Cyril haa been refusing stating both him and rival are busy enough, barely have time to even see each other let alone also schedule time with them for all 4 to get together- rival knows none of this and ends up cornered in their office by two elves and highly esteemed researchers that just want to get to know their sons love interest better- even if one may or may not believe his son should be with another elf? I dunno how his Father will feel on all this Neo and Darling's conversation of "my lease is up in October" as Gage has mentioned and if they are ready for a big step like moving in together already or not. Neo craves to be close not only to Darling, but the need as a shifter to be close to another as well. More Neo thoughts on starting to meet the siblings. His need to feel validated, important, and strong willed to not feel "compared" especially to the older siblings becoming apparent. He might apologize for what a handful his family could be and Darling has to assure him that they love him and the rowdy bunch of foxes. They also may make sure he knows just how much they love him when they get back to the privacy of their own space. Gage and Bug having the apartment for themselves now, roomie's old room is now where Gage will have his ceramics now. Darling drags Neo back out for game night once a month, they've been showing him how to play video games so next mario kart, fall guys, mario party whatever, stands a better chance (maybe even beat Gage in one, maybe they had a bet and now Gage has to own up?)

Small steps with Desmond, sneaking small kisses when they can at work, hand holding when out together, warm cuddles on the couch, taking Eclair to the dog park to play Des seems to adore the attention, but I feel like he'd be just as appreciative if Newbie got lil treats or toys for his dog, it's in connection to him still, and means they are thinking of him or of spending time with each other when apart.

Angsty thoughts for Desmond include Newbie getting hurt; pretty bad. Des has never been the type that would rely and just expect Law to help, use his magic because he never wants his best friend to feel like he abuses their friendship, so when he calls for help there's a lot of unspoken feelings between these two that Law will be there asap. Des never left their side, he held them as they recovered, maybe even being a little more aggressive in his care because of how stubborn Newbie is, having to force them to stay in bed or take time off work. That "holding" may have been at times laying basically on them to hold them down so they would just. Stop. Moving. Also a conversation between Des and Newbie about how Des keeps paying for things when they are together. He's financially stable and willing to spend it on Newbie but they end up feeling uncomfortable. They worry that they don't want Des to think they are using him as a sugar daddy, they want an equal partnership, and work out something together so it will feel more balanced.

Similar to Desmond, Sweets getting little things for Nat, even when she's away at mom's or the grandparents, seeing stuff and thinking of his daughter means the world to Law. The two people that mean the most to him that he loves wholeheartedly having a connection is important to him. Having someone to help wrangle the ball or energy and as she gets older to help teach her about some of the mysticalities he and her mother don't even know help to open her eyes to more than he alone could offer. He also knows after the little one falls to sleep he gets their undivided attention and its something to look forward to whenever they are together be it exhausted cuddling on the couch with a movie on, to a feeding session of their choice. No matter the end results, they are happy and comfortable together.

Nat gets her own section as she so deserves. At 3 years old Sweets can throw her the BEST tea parties, the high faerie court of stuffies around the table as they talk about the crayons and colors they like to draw with the most, sipping their tea and munching some sugar free cookies and wafers. She knows all of Dad's coworkers. Uncle DesDes gives some of the best airplane rides she's ever had, only next to Dad's of course! He looks big and scary but he gives her ice cream and trinkets! Newbie and Gage are always fun, Gage having wanted a little sibling since he was small can play big brother, and Newbie can always find the shiniest and prettiest rocks no matter where they go, babygirl has to add this to her rock collection. Be mindful things don't get quiet though, a child being quiet is a scary enough thought for what troubles they can get into, but if these two are also missing chaos may be about to strike. Neo, having grown up with so many siblings, is used to handling smaller children, but tries to build her up and make her feel important. He doesn't seem the type to like messy things but he will make sure she is safe and kept busy. Dad's coworkers are practically family, and with how much Law watches over everyone from getting between crossfires of arguments, making sure everyone is safe and aren't injured (probably uses some magic for some stuff since everyone is attuned or aware) they all have his respect and love, and want to repay that kindness when and where they can. They'll make sure Nat is taken care of.
