Hey, quick question.
If anyone who's good at modding video games is reading this, can you please make one for Pokémon Legends Arceus that outright disables the balm-throwing gameplay of the noble bosses and just make them normal battles?
I will be eternally grateful.

sorry to whack a wasp's nest, and i am prefacing all of this by saying that i enjoyed the game and think there are a lot of good aspects to it, but!
i am genuinely so sick of the way people talk about baldur's gate 3
i don't think it should have won game of the year
it's so, so irritating to see people claim over and over that bg3 is somehow groundbreaking for the genre or some sort of trailblazing star in a charred wasteland that has seen no good release since dragon age: origins. and like, it's not just idiots in the steam reviews and on reddit who are talking like this (though they are fucking everywhere on both. one of the highest rated posts on the bg3 sub for months was some dude literally going "i've never played a ttrpg or crpg and i believe bg3 is a game changer" fucking lol). it's also like. professional video game journalists and reviewers. a lot of them!
and like. dragon age: origins is really not a particularly good game compared to many of its contemporaries and i seriously do not understand the chokehold it has on people but that aside, since it was released we've had so many incredible and amazing crpgs that featured outstanding writing, game design, art direction, music, voice acting, etc. the pillars of eternity duology, underrail, the wasteland series, tyranny, atom, the shadowrun trilogy, the pathfinder duology, even the fucking games larian made before this, the divinity: original sin duology are all doing what bg3 did, and often better than bg3 does it. and that's not even getting into the many, many games that came out before either that still hold up as masterpieces that leave both bg3 and da:o in the dust like planescape: torment or fallout 1 and 2!
in fact, it's really easy to compare larian's previous game, divinity: original sin 2, to baldur's gate 3 because they are incredibly similar in many ways down to the inciting incident being almost a 1 to 1 copy (you wake up captured on a ship and realize you've been shackled in a way thay suppresses your powers and harms you and the first act is dedicated to finding others who this has happened to and getting rid of it). except that dos2 handles a lot of the things bg3 also contains a lot better, like e.g. companion story progression. (it's absolutely baffling to have story progression tied to rests especially when the game goes out of its way to instill fake urgency in the player that can very easily lead to them avoiding rests and makes especially many early game moments permanently missable if you don't happen to rest enough times at the right time. my karlach romance got bricked in my first playthrough for this reason. also compounding this is the fact that even on tactician the game is so easy that you can go ages without needing to rest organically.)
dos2 also unquestionably has the better combat experience because the system was designed specifically for the game and around the games capabilities and limitations, whereas bg3 had to contend with trying to make d&d 5e work in a video game format when that's patently not what it was designed for. the amount of changes larian had to make to the ruleset to make 5e work for a video game should have been a sign that using 5e was probably just not a good choice. (and ftr i felt the same about the game solasta which also uses 5e.) and even with the rule changes and the way larian went out of its way to buff the extremely underwhelming and underperforming 5e martials, character building and progression is still nowhere near as versatile and exciting as it was in dos2 or other crpgs and you still have a lot of empty level ups or repetitive gameplay because you can only put so many rhine stones on a turd.
let me be clear: i don't think bg3 is a bad game. again, i liked it! i think it has some instances of really good writing (mainly in companion narratives and side stories imo, the main story is underwhelming as whole). the voice acting performances are fantastic. larian tried their best to make non-linear problem solving possible in a lot of places which is neat (but also makes the lack of them in other places really obvious and more annoying than it otherwise would have been tbh lol.)
i just hate the way that bg3 is treated like some sort of gold standard when it stands on the shoulders of predecessors who are just as good, if not better, but who get ignored because they don't have fully mocapped and voice acted character models or a 3D camera. there seems to be this complete reticence from so many people to play games that still utilize things like an isometric pov, despite the fact that the games which do so are designed around this. e.g. pillars of eternity and the shadowrun games are some of the most beautiful, artistically impressive rpgs i have ever played and make full use of the isometric perspective in its fullest to create absolutely stunning environmental design which wouldn't have been possible with a rotating camera. just because a technology is older doesn't mean it is worse! people absolutely should get out of their comfort zone more because they are missing out on so many gems otherwise.
also re: bg3 winning game of the year specifically: look, here's why this gets me so tilted. on release? vast swathes of the game were legitimately unplayable. act 1 was mostly alright because it had 5 years to cook in early release with constant community feedback and bug reporting. this was absolutely not true for act 2 and 3. act 3 in particular was legitimately just not working for me (and multiple of my friends). i have a soupy gaming PC that can play other contemporary games on ultra settings just fine, and yet i got as few as 2 FPS and frankly ludicrous amount of stuttering and lag on even the lowest settings while my poor CPU sounded like she was preparing for space flight. it's clear that they just did not optimize later acts at all. they did eventually fix the memory leak issue somewhat in later patches, but the performance in act 3 is still markedly much worse than the rest of the game. (also why the fuck is it like 200GB good fucking g-d learn to compress your shit larian!) and that's not even getting into how many quests were bugged and as a result not able to be completed.
in summary: i paid 60 bucks for something that released in an unfinished state that put my hardware at risk. i spent a lot of money on a game i was unable to complete in the state that i bought it in and that took several months to get to an actually playable state for many people. that is not fucking acceptable.
i am willing to cut larian a lot more slack than i would say, e.g. bethesda, on releasing buggy and poorly optimized games. which is why i was willing to patiently wait for a performance patch to replay it. i am not, however, willing to accept handing something that was patently not finished and did not give customers the product they paid for an award for game of the year.
that's a symptom of an industry that has gotten too fucking comfortable releasing unfinished games and putting the onus of bug detection and quality testing on its paying userbase. that's not my job! i paid for this because i expect a product that has already successfully underwent this process! but apparently games these days don't need to bother with that anymore because it doesn't matter if it's playable on release or not, they can still get a coveted industry award for it anyway.
tl;dr: bg3 is literally fine but i am begging everyone on my hands and knees to broaden their horizons and also the things we deem to be acceptable from gaming companies nowadays are shocking. ok. i'm done. sorry.

How would you rank the gens?
Ope I feel like I'm gonna upset some people LOL so disclaimer remember these are just my takes.
But this is how I personally see them (counting remakes as being part of the gen they remaking):
Gen 9 - Paldea Region
Tumblr media
I've been thinking about this since the games came out, so I'd like to say recency bias isn't as much of a factor here. Bugs aside, I genuinely, genuinely love the storytelling, characterizations, and open world approach. FRIENDS THAT FEEL LIKE ACTUAL FRIENDS?? HAVING THE LEGENDARY WITH YOU THE WHOLE TIME, AND IT TOO HAS A PERSONALITY & BACKSTORY??? THREE SEPERATE STORYLINES THAT CONNECT TO A CANONICALLY DEAD PROFESSOR AND AN "EVIL AI" FINAL BOSS??? Like omg. I was amazed. I honestly usually dislike the "gimmicks" each generation brings, but terastilization caught my interest and I have a strong feeling nothing will personally top it as a gimmick for me. The DLCs really sent it all home for me for the #1 spot, like oh my god LOL. Past DLCs always just felt like something extra, but I literally cannot see this game as being complete without Kieran, Carmine & the rest of Kitakami/Blueberry peeps & their storylines. My interest in the games only grew because of all of it - and that's a massive compliment given the fact of how hard it is to accomplish such a level of monumental significance with only a few hours of gameplay. I've yet to replay the game with earlier access to The Teal Mask, but I feel like this would make it even more immersive. Just pure chef kisses here.
Gen 2 - Johto Region
Tumblr media
A very close second. Heartgold/Soulsilver is the most elite remake in existence and idc if it's old school, I'll die on this hill. Johto is just so full of life - the continuation story is amazing, the immersion into culture and legendary stuff??? Mwah. Silver is an excellent rival, RED being a thing (the ultimate level of iconicism), and the double region will always hit. The soundtracks HIT and my god hearing them remastered iS INCREDIBLE. I even get obsessed with the pokeathlon dome and I'm usually not someone who gets into that kind of stuff. But THEY MADE IT FUN. And I love all the cute activities you can do with your team that can follow you around. So glad they brought this feature back. :')
Gen 5 - Unova Region
Tumblr media
Oooooh I loved the reset of Gen 5. It's based on where I'm from and there were so many refreshing aspects of Black & White. From the new pokemon, to the NYC culture, to N & the whole beautiful storytelling there, and a sequel that somehow made everything even MORE polished. I literally remember referring to this region as the "Isshu Region" before the English names dropped becuase of the hype LOL. 10/10, cannot wait for these remakes. Gamefreak don't mess this up.
Gen 4 - Sinnoh Region
Tumblr media
Oh, Gen 4. You hit good. The lowkey dreary vibes of Sinnoh is very nostalgic to me, and Piplup is one of my best buddies. Cynthia being the very first female Champion, and being as fearsome as she is, was such a big deal to me. Definetely Barbie'd her a bit in my mind because I look a like her and loved how much of an academic she was (but I def do not have her length in hair, lmao). Soundtracks are fire, of course. The way legendaries were integrated in the story without going too Dragonball Z was IMMACULATE, and the lake trio will always be my fave lil buddies. The only con I'd give this gen is that I disliked the HM reliance & D/P are practically unplayable to me since Platinum exists. I had low bars for the remake once I heard it wasn't Platinum, and ugh, they really dropped the ball. HOWEVER: while it isn't main line, I fucking love Legends: Arceus and would rather have that over an excellent remake, tbh.
Gen 1 - Kanto Region
Tumblr media
This is another nostalgia one for me because of the fact that I quite literally was introduced to pokemon since before I can recall most memories (this is what happens when you have an older sibling with a gameboy, lol). It's probably tied with Gen 4, tbh. Firered wasn't my first game, but it hit really good because I "played" so much of R/B/Y. I know Gen 1 has its faults, and it's often seen as being pretty bare bones in comparison to other generations. And while I completely agree, god damn, what a good foundation for a franchise. Every town had a personality to it and is very memorable to me. The soundtracks are FIRE. Smaller pokedex, but damn does team building hit (and the starters are elite). Blue was also consistently my favorite rival until Kieran, lol. #oldrivalshipping/conflictingshipping was the original OTP xD
Gen 7 - Alola Region
Tumblr media
So there's a lot of things I liked about Gen 7. It took a really big risk by breaking the formula, and it really immersed me into the Hawaiian culture & seeing your pokemon more as friends. I loved looking at pokemon in a different way and some of the pokemon introduced in this region are among my favorites (e.g. Ribombee, Bewear, Shiinotic, Mimikyu, Rockaruff, to name a few; starters also HIT). NEBBY AND LILLIE ARE ELITE. The professor is so lit, and Team Skull is the funniest team organization alive. AND YES, GET RID OF THE HMS. I honestly think a remake would make this gen jump up a bit more for me - the 3DS could barely handle this game, and it was showing. The facial expressions also need some work LOL, and I honestly dread the tutorial of the game. I like the ultrabeasts conceptually, but the execution of their involvement in the game is very DragonBall Z-ified. Ultra Necrozma lowkey would've been an amazing time for a "light" type even if it didn't make much sense, but hey, it was an awesome nuzlocke-killing moment anyway. xD
Gen 8 - Galar Region
Tumblr media
I actually have a lot of play time for this gen. I was very obsessed with it when it came out, and could probably get glued to it all the same nowadays. But in hindsight, I realize a lot of my attachment to it was because of the semi-open worldness & ability to create a lot of different kinds of teams with a lot of new and old pokemon I like (I also liked having access to things earlier, like Ice Types before the end of the game lmfao). I still have a few things I really enjoy outside of it, though, like Hop's storyline & the setup of the gyms being in this stadium, sports-esque setting. But the plot? Eh. I have a lot of constructive criticism on how some shortcuts were made, and especially with the whole darkest day stuff lol. The only thing I liked about that fight was the dogs coming in and being cool; I wasn't impressed by or interest in Eternatus at all. The Leon fight afterward was fun, though! But oof, those weird men with the sword and shield hair afterwards were also just...no. :D DLCs also didn't quite hit that hard - it was more about having more pokemon than anything for me. So overall, it's fun to play, but I'd definitely change up the plot to make it better.
Gen 3 - Hoenn Region
Tumblr media
This is where I think some people might wanna fight me, and to that I say you're probably valid. I don't know what it is with the Hoenn region because I actually don't have too many critiques about it (e.g., let's have less water routes); I just have never been able to get into it quite the same as I can others. I should honestly give it another shot, but I think I'd wanna do Emerald over Omega Ruby/Sapphire given the route they took everything with the remake lol. That's about all I have to say on this one since I never really connected with it as much!
Gen 6 - Kalos Region
Tumblr media
This one feels like an especially hot take to have atm given where the pokemon community is in general LOL. Critical opinions ahead......Listen...no offense, but Gen 6 just ain't it for me at all. xD It's probably the one gen I actively dislike. The games felt way too easy with too much hand-holding/handouts, Team Flare & Diantha were a joke (and I'm not even a competitive player), and the whole group of friends felt more like an annoyance to me more than anything. They just weren't flushed out right. Neither was the plot. Like what was that plot. Outside of that, a lot of things just felt like "Look! Pokemon is in 3D now!!" over and over again because of how rushed the game was. So other than introducing fairy types & having pretty protagonists with some new clothing options, this gen is pretty forgettable to me. And that's a shame, because I like pokemon! I was one of those people who were curious on if we were gonna connect to Kalos for Gen 9, but I'd geniunely pick the DLCs we got any day of the week. I don't think Legends ZA will change much of my opinion on the mainline game, but given how much I loved Legends Arceus, I'm hoping it can be used to retcon & generate more interest/connection to the Kalos region in general.
Again, these are all just my personal opinions. I hope you all can enjoy pokemon in any way that feels good for you :) <3

TLDR: A very long ramble about Harvest Moon: Magical Melody’s social aspect and how the gameplay can have the social sim aspect interwoven in so many creative ways. Keeping it below the cut because it’s long
I’ve been so obsessed over Magical Melody, it’s insane. Genuinely, I believe the game has an amazing framework for character rich interactions and sense of community. You enter this fading small village where it used to be bustling with people. Where the goddess who watched over the people has turned to stone, because people forgot to care for one another and forgot about her?
Where in order to “beat” the game, you live your life doing every day tasks and by connecting to others. Where once you’ve saved the goddess, she tells your rival that why the player was able to save her because the player truly opened up to other people!!!
I absolutely adore the game, but my god interacting with villagers is so boring because they all say two or three sentences of dialogue per heart (excluding events or weather).  The game pushes for you to interact with the community (characters moving out) and pay attention to events (a festival being cancelled because you didnt donate the item needed for it), yet the dialogue is so one note and boring!!! Have people talk about one another, make them mention Jamie’s farm (Jamie’s products are the sole reason why the village is still here.) or during festivals (I know Jamie donated a lot of eggs, but they’re acting like they’re the only one who donated!).
Have the community feel more like a community that’s working together! Incorporate it into the gameplay itself!! For the top scores for shipping out goods, why not have Blue Sky Ranch or Springfield Farm also be rivals alongside Jamie!! Have Blue be initially stand-offish cus he sees you as competition or have Nina be excited because shes happy that theres a new guy to shakeup the farming scene. Maybe even add a special end of the year festival where Theodore would round up the different farms and see which farm had the best profits!!!
Have there be juicy gossip at Moonlight Cafe, where the villagers would talk about certain characters, or what the player is getting up to or drop lore about the goddess and maybe even Jamie. Have the inn actually feature other characters from previous games, we already have Nami visiting town and she even mentions Mineral Town and Forget-Me-Not Valley in a letter!!! Have characters imply or explicitly reference previous titles or characters: Joe mentioning how he and Kurt moved out of their old home to Flowerbud Village, or an event where Nami is asking Alex if the two met before!! Actually add heart events for the characters, give them more personality or even personal struggles that you help them overcome by befriending them! Give characters actual relationships with one another or have them be actively hanging out together!!! Make festivals interactable instead of just being go to the beach or town square and talk to everyone and its over
Alright, brainrot over hghghghhghghg :’]

Bruuuuuuh lemme tell you something.
💙⚡LEMME TELL YOU SOMETHIN! 💙⚡
Tumblr media Tumblr media
If the games raiden was half as good as the animated movies raiden.
We'd be in heaven as mk fans.
Look no offense,mk 11 to me seems pretty amazing as a game(impo) from gaming standards and aspects. But story wise for the past 3-4 games it's been lacking. What I'm saying beyond the fun aspects of gameplay, customization, etc. Mortal kombat as a franchise has been so-so for a while now. Again impho, the games aspects outside of storytelling. Has aged for the better and gotten better over the many many years like a delicious wine. The graphics, the extra features, the details, the combos, fatalities, etc. All absolutely amazing as always. But when it comes to the story. They just no offense, suck. It's bland but not basic or simple enough to be digestible. It's complicated in all the wrong ways. And major plotholes and nerfing for plot. Raiden is a prime example. Raiden is a fucking god! He is canonlly in story in many many timelines to be one of the strongest (next to his brother fujin) Gods in the mk universe. Only being surpassed by the elder gods themselves. Simply because his element, his powers, draw from the very essence of the earthrealm itself. A whole freakin realm! Do you know how strong this mofo is?! Very. Even when he's mortal, even when he canonlly nerfed himself on purpose to fight in the tournament. He still kicked major asssssss! And thats not even the half of it. Raiden legit is supposed to be op. Thats the point. He's the mentor, the kombatants of earthrealms warriors (especially liu kang and kung lao respectfully) teacher and protector. The only other being other than himself that is SUPPOSED to be on equal terms in power and respect is his brother fujin. The other only person that is an adversary that can go toe to toe with raiden is shang but thats due to the many decades and decades of them duking it out,not to mention shangs magic.
Like i could go on forever how the nerfed raiden in all the wrong ways in the games.
But the animated movies?! Oh holy butter on a biscuit is raiden badass! The voice, the characterization, the art, yes, yes, and a thousand times yes! This is the raiden i want. This is the raiden i need.
Course it still isnt perfect, nothing is. But is it better than the games? Yes,unfortunately it is.
I hate to say that too because the games should be the bread n butter and should be the best version. Because thats the source you know, but it's not.
It kinda makes me sad.
Look you can make raiden softer, vulnerable, and even add more flavor. But without nerfing his character to the point he doesn't feel like an actual god character or worse yet, weak compared to his bro. Which isn't fair, cuz they are SUPPOSED TO BE EQUALS PERIOD.
Anyways can we also talk about how fucking cute his face is when he's mortal?
I mean look at him
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
His face,it's just so 🥺💙⚡
Soft but wise, but also stern but chill, funny too. Like unf. This is the closest thing we got to raiden in a long time for me that comes close to dotr raiden, conquest,or even 95 movie raiden. Its like a combo of all that but more oomf. Plus that voice? Smoooooth and silky.
Don't let me stop you from loving game rai. But this rai? Oooooo boyeeee. Yes sir! I'll take this any day.

Explorers
I started Explorers a bit after Rescue Team DX, before I completed that game. I played through both pretty much concurrently for a good while, though I finished Rescue Team DX first. Shortly after I started Rescue Team DX, I received a genuine Explorers of Sky cartridge as a birthday present, which I'm eternally grateful for.
Explorers was a much different experience than Rescue Team DX. Many of the quality of life features that were introduced in future games, such as no gender restrictions for player and partner species, not having to double accept a request in order to do it, and the removal of IQ, are absent in Explorers.
And of course, there's the storage item limit, which annoyed me very greatly, but I'll gloss over that for now.
Nonetheless, Explorers was an amazing experience to play mostly blind. I grew really attatched to the characters very quickly, particularly my partner, Pahelia the Piplup, and Bidoof. I got genuinely mad at Team Skull when they caused my team to have to go without dinner for a day. And I adored how my partner was steadily getting braver.
The twist with the Dark Future came as a shock to me, and further invested me in the game.
And I love Grovyle as a character, one of my favorite characters in Pokemon who's not from Gates to Infinity.
The story is wonderfully gripping and emotional, and heartwarming and heartbreaking all at the same time.
And the gameplay, while it has its flaws, I found fun for the most part!
So why then, you might ask, is it my least favorite of the four main PMD games?
To put it simply, it's a combination of the following facts:
One of them has to be my least favorite, even if I love them all to bits.
I love the other 3 a bit more.
The fandom seems intent to ignore the other three main games in favor of exclusively focusing on Explorers.
The item storage limit is excruciating to me.
While I still love and adore Explorers, and it was tied with Gates for being my favorite once upon a time, seeing so many people beat Super, Gates, and occasionally Rescue Team down in favor of giving more and more attention to Explorers...it kinda eroded away at that attatchment I have to Explorers.
And the item storage limit...it's the reason why I could never finish the postgame.
I don't want to be too negative here, but I'll just say that I'm so glad it never made a comeback.
One thing that Explorers does have that the other games don't, though, is Special Episodes.
I love the Special Episodes. Easily one of the best things exclusive to Explorers.
Special Episode 1 was a lovely little side story about one of my favorite characters in the franchise.
Special Episode 2 made me tear up about a character I thought was just complete comic relief up to that point.
And Special Episode 5 made me cry just as much as the ending of the main story did.
Explorers is a great game. An amazing game, even.
And I love it. I love it so much.
Though I love the other 3 even more, Explorers will always have a very special place in my heart.
Even if I have my gripes with some aspects of the gameplay, and how the fandom treats it, I love PMD Explorers.

Madden 19 pc steam
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The first Longshot felt a bit messy story-wise and a lack of gameplay really hurt the mode from reaching its full potential. The former Texas high school all-stars are still fighting for their dreams of making it in the NFL and I gotta admit, Longshot: Homecoming surprisingly clicked with me. Returning to Madden 19 is the story-driven Longshot mode featuring best friends Devin and Colt. Longshot Story Mode Finally Finds its Footing Players like Julian Edelman and Stefon Diggs, who perform their best work at the slot wide receiver role, can finally be put in their real-life positions instead of being forced to play outside due to their high overall ratings. With the ability to specifically select positions such as slot wide receiver, edge rushers, nickel cornerback, and even a power running back, you are able to mold your team in better ways than ever before.Īs a diehard football fan, I really enjoyed this aspect. Madden 19 also features a new depth chart section called specialists. Here, that frustrating aspect is toned down drastically as I’ve only seen a few CPU generated moves that bothered me. This is largely due to the inclusion of custom draft classes that allows you to download other gamers’ draft rosters featuring future NFL stars (by the way, if you are someone who creates these custom rosters, thank you).Ī problem I’ve faced in previous Madden games is the unrealistic free-agent destinations, draft picks, and player values of CPU controlled teams. Custom Draft Classes Makes its Way to Madden 19įranchise mode is where I spent the bulk of my time and I can confidently say that it is the best mode in the game. The crowd is consistently a non-factor, the presentation is lackluster at best, and any realism that the game wanted to go for is thrown out the window due to weird glitches that are guaranteed to happen in every other matchup. There isn’t any immersion to me at all (on the field). That’s really my main indictment on the gameplay as a whole when I think about it. Like every year, there are countless bugs and glitches that ruin the immersion of the game. Now getting to the ugly parts of Madden 19’s on the field issues. These developers at EA Sports and EA Tiburon have definitely made passing the ball feel like more a skill that I have to hone rather than just based off of my QB’s overall rating. Along with great animations, the visuals and character models look as amazing as it did last year with the Frostbite engine.įinally, I can’t express to you enough how much I love passing the ball in this game. Like a briefly mentioned above, Madden 19 features an overhaul of the way players run, catch, tackle, and pretty much everything else on the field. Let’s start with what’s good about the gameplay of Madden 19. With advancements such as improved animations and graphics, I shouldn’t really have many criticisms when it comes to the gameplay. This is where you’ll see the first of my two major complaints about this game that lowers it to its three-star rating. However, it still has some major problems that EA has to deal with if they still want gamers’ money in future installments. As you can see by the three-star rating, I actually really enjoyed Madden 19 and do believe it is worth picking up. This is going to sound a bit indecisive but the answer is both yes and no.
Tumblr media
We’ve all heard the complaints that Madden is a franchise that makes very small changes every year and passes it off as a fully-fledged game. So with this review, I wanted to gear it towards the people who are on the fence about buying Madden 19. Most likely you’ve already picked up your copy and are deep into a franchise or your MUT team. If you’re a huge Madden fan, you probably don’t need this review. Where To Buy It: Xbox Games Store, PlayStation Store, Origin, Local Retailers Available On: Xbox One (Reviewed), PS4, Windows PC

Firstly, I would like to preface this review with this: To all the other reviewers out there giving this game a positive rating, trying to make funny jokes about how good the gameplay is, they're just trying to farm points. If you look at their playtime, most of them have less than an hour! You cannot truly experience the greatness of this game in a few minutes, an hour, or even 10. I have only just scratched the surface with my 100 hours, so I will be making constant updates as I play this game
My review: Pros: Tree Simulator 2022 is a game like no other. Every aspect has been carefully crafted to deliver the best possible player experience. You start out knowing nothing about the game (at least as long as you didn't look up any tutorials, which I STRONGLY suggest against doing, as it spoils the whole game). The lack of tutorial with only a few controls posted on the store page leads to exploratory gameplay. You adventure along with your tree, looking at the different magnificently crafted features. Each one just adds a whole new layer of complexity, a whole new path to go down. You will spend hours, lost, pouring over every aspect of this game, I warn you it's very addictive. Cons: Though the developer talks so much about the multiplayer features, they are highly overrated. At first it may seem good to have other trees there with you, adventuring with you along your way, but in the end it just distracts from the real gameplay, the interaction between you and your tree. In the end, it is much more immersive to play singleplayer, the one true, original mode. And then there's the graphics. They are pretty good, and it's nice that they've gotten better, but I feel the same way about them as I do about the multiplayer. They honestly just take away from the game. True, there's a grayscale option, but who wants that? No one, that's who! No, what we really need is a black and white mode. Just black and white. No fancy 3Dness, just you and a black & white tree. This would truly make the graphics amazing
Stats broken down: - Overall: 13/10 - Fun: 12/10 - Gameplay: 10/10 - Graphics: 9/10 - Story: 11/10 - Singleplayer: 16/10 - Multiplayer: 4/10 - Immersiveness: 14/10 - Difficulty Curve: 10/10
In the end: Tree simulator 2022 was an amazing addition to this already spectacular franchise. There are some elements of it that could be improved, some features that could be added, and some features that just honestly take away from the game, but in the end the story, the difficulty curve, the funness and the gameplay outweigh all else, ending up with at 13/10 overall.
200 hr edit: Wow it's been another 100 hours already! The time's gone by so fast! I feel like it was just yesterday that I had a mere 100 hours, and yet I have grown so much since then, as a person and as a tree. In terms of the gameplay, it has not gotten any worse, I could even go as far as to say it's gotten better. The story's always new and refreshing, and I've seen many UFOs at this point. It always seems like seeing UFOs will get old, yet each UFO always feels different. The creator of this game has done something beautiful with it, allowing each UFO to be it's own experience, it's own game in it of itself. I have now gotten through all of the settings in their basic forms, so now I'm working on going deep. I can confirm that this game has infinite replay-ability, and it never gets old. The amount of depth you can go into with each setting is utterly breathtaking. I can still confidently say that I have only just barely scratched the surface of this game with my 200 hours, so I will continue to update this review.
400 hr edit: Oops, I was supposed to do another edit at 300, but I was just too distracted by Tree Simulator 2022's amazing gameplay to notice the time! Well, now that I've hit 400 hours it seem a good a time as any to write another update on this truly breathtaking, honestly addictive experience. I thought I had gotten through the basics of the settings at 200 hours, but boooyyyy was I wrong. I have now learned enough about this game to know that I haven't gotten through even 1% of what this game has to offer. I have now seen many more parts of this game, each one not closing off paths that I knew about, but instead opening up new paths, new alleyways to go down. New ways to play, new discoveries to make. I can now confirm that I am fully immersed in Tree Simulator 2022's gameplay, everything about it just pulled me in and refuses to let me go. Everything is just perfect. I know I was critical of Multiplayer at first, but now that I'm getting into it, I'm really starting to understand and enjoy what it could mean for the over-all game. I think at first I was just overwhelmed at the new possibilities it could bring. It just made this whole new branch is the ever-growing tree of gameplay, one larger than any of the others. Now that I have gotten through 400 hours, however, I can now see why the creator added it. It just makes the game so different, that it almost would merit it's own game. Now that I've seen even just a tiny bit of what multiplayer can bring, though, I will now be trying to explore down that path a little before I go and experience the true, original, single-player, gameplay once again.
1k HOUR EDIT: It's been 1k hours now, and Tree Simulator 2022 is still the best game I've ever played. Firstly a few things to note: There's been a few updates, some of which I've liked, and some of which seem to have introduced bugs. Firstly, I love the idea of a tree timer in the top left corner. It really helped me, especially because I didn't really want to quit out of the app to check my time. I needed some way of knowing when to update this review, and honestly having to go back to steam every once in a while is annoying. The only thing I've found about it is that it seems to get an outdated time. I don't know why this is happening, but for me it's like 40 hours off. This wasn't too much of a problem, as I noticed it immediately and the difference hasn't changed, but it's slightly annoying. There was also another update that seems to have done nothing, except for that now every ~100 hours, it will randomly set the time on and turn it to the max speed. This is very annoying for my immersion in the game, so I wish it could be fixed. Another bug I've been seeing for as long as I've been playing is that sometimes the resolution of the game will randomly change, and it's quite annoying. Other than that, it's been fun. I've been playing a bunch of both singleplayer and multiplayer, switching between them every couple days. I've noticed that some trees have been leaveing (get it?) recently, and this has made me very sad. Some I thought were dedicated, but alas they had to go. I don't think it was because of the game though, it was probably just that they had to do something irl, whatever that means. Game wise, it's been interesting. More UFOs (I think I'm starting to understand some hidden lore with them), and more tree watching. Some how the author has come up with a game that can be interesting even after the 1k hours mark, which is not something that can be said for just anyone. Like I said before, I'm even just now figuring out some hidden lore, I think there's a connection with the UFOs and another detail I noticed around the 900 hour mark. The past 100 hours have been dedicated to trying to figure out more details. It's super interesting looking into this lore, the author has done an excellent job with making surface level facts clear, but then adding small details in for the dedicated people like myself.
Alas it seems as though I've reached steam's review length limit, so I will be continuing this review in the comments.
1k HOURS CONTINUED:
I've found the game to somehow still meet my optimal difficulty level even after all this time. The game makes it satisfying learning new skills and getting better, while then becoming more difficult to match your skills. It does an excellent job balancing on the fine line of satisfying parts, while still being a good challenge.
NOTE: I've been getting a lot of friend requests recently, and I really appreciate it, but please know that for each request I get I will check your time in tree simulator 2022, and if you don't have at least 500 hours (or close to it), I will deny your request

SDV's 1.5 update contains content that plays into racist, colonialist, and imperialist myths and beliefs.
Disclaimer: I loved SDV (which is a given, considering I have an SDV sideblog lol?), and I'm not writing this post to get people to boycott the game or stop liking it or whatever. I just want people to understand why this content is harmful, how it might be affecting your biases and beliefs, and think of how they can engage with this media without exacerbating the harm that it does. I'm Filipino, and I don't speak for all POC or all brown people, but I felt deeply hurt and betrayed by the content update. Please keep that in mind before you interact with this post. Explanation under the cut because of 1.5 spoilers (obviously) and because this got long.
(I will block people who clown on this post. Keep your opinions to yourself unless you also have firsthand experience with the issues I describe.)
Background
I was already wary of the 1.5 content update because of how the previews featured ~tropical~ and ~exotic~ stuff, but I decided to give it a shot because maybe I was being too hasty with my judgment.
I wasn't. I made a new save to play with the 1.5 content update, and at first, I was having a great time! The new special orders made gameplay more exciting and varied! I could finally get rid of the nursery from my house without mods! The remixed junimo bundles made me change my usual game strategy. And then, I finally unlocked Ginger Island.
It seemed cool at first, but I had a sinking feeling growing in the pit of my stomach as I kept playing. It got to the point that I started nursing a stomach ache and lots of anger that took me days to shake off. I know SDV has never been a shining example of racial/ethnic diversity and sensitivity (I mean... there's a reason why mods like Diverse Stardew Valley and a bunch of other diversity mods exist lol). But while the lack of diversity in the pre-1.5 content is more of a missed opportunity, the 1.5 content is just... actively harmful and hurtful, imo. Here's a breakdown of the issues with the setting and the characters:
The Setting
Ginger Island, along with the Fern Islands in general, is a tropical island that is clearly based on islands in the Pacific. Its features include fertile soil and an abundance of natural, foragable resources. And for some unknown reason, it has no native human population.
Many islands in the world are uninhabited by humans, and there's always a good reason why. The island's environment may be too hostile, it could be too small to sustain human life, it could be sacred or otherwise culturally unacceptable to live there, or some disaster may have occurred to wipe out the local population or cause them to flee. Some uninhabited islands are nature reserves or privately owned. The point is that if an island is habitable, people are bound to call it home.
Writing Ginger Island as an uninhabited "tropical paradise" feels like a copout. It's as if the game is saying, "don't worry, you're not colonizing this land because no one really lives here! You're not stealing this land or anything because it's up for grabs and is just waiting for the right person to come along to develop it and turn it into a resort for other people who don't live here!" But that claim rings hollow when there are so many signs of civilization there, such as literal computers and ancient structures. And the canon reason for the existence of these things is that dwarves, non-human creatures, lived there once. I just think it's ridiculous and harmful that the game completely ignores and erases the existence of the people who lived and still live in the places that Ginger Island is based on and goes even further to use non-human creatures as stand-ins. I don’t think I have to explain why this isn’t good, considering that people of color have been compared to animals and treated like animals to dehumanize us and justify our oppression for ages.
To really hammer in my point about whitewashing and erasure, all the human labor on the island is done by a flock of parrots that you pay with golden walnuts (i. e., resources that you get for free from the island they live on). There's even an anthropomorphized bird who's a shopkeep! I get that creating a whole cast of human NPCs to fill a town would have been way too much work for a content update, but CA didn't need to use a bunch of animals as stand-ins for non-white human characters. There’s a troubling trend of creators prioritizing animal characters over characters of color, and CA plays right into it. He seriously chose to create more anthro characters instead of adding characters of color to the game in a setting that in real life has populations that are primarily made up of brown people. The game includes brown people's land and cultures, but it draws the line at brown people themselves.
The erasure of brown people and the portrayal of our lands as wild and untamed have been used to sanitize the narrative of colonialism for centuries. Pretending that our lands were wild tropical paradises that were ripe for the taking is pretending that colonizing forces didn't use violent, dehumanizing means to subjugate or wipe out countless peoples and cultures in order to make these lands available. Ginger Island's erasure of brown people just perpetuates this colonialist myth, and the context in which it does so disgusts me: the farmer, who already runs a successful farm that was inherited from their grandfather, goes off to a tropical island they have no personal connection to and uses its natural resources to expand their business further. They also open up a resort on the island for the enjoyment of other privileged people from their homeland, and going there is treated as a luxury. This is a classic colonizer narrative, and I cannot believe the game forces players to colonize an island in order to win.
The Characters
I'm honestly amazed that the amount of feedback about the lack of diversity in SDV didn't prompt CA to create characters of color. I'm amazed that he chose the setting he did and still didn't bother to create any characters of color. The fact that all three of the new human characters who live on this tropical island are white makes me go a little apeshit, to be honest! I hate all three of them for a variety of reasons, so I'll go over them one by one:
Birdie
My reasons for not liking Birdie are primarily related to misogyny (lady spent literal decades in isolation on this island moping over her dead husband?) and ageism (if you tell her to live her own life, she tells you that she's too old to???). Sooo they're not really related to the rest of my discussion here, and I won't get into them further. Moving on!
Professor Snail
White historians, archaeologists, and paleontologists have been stealing and plundering artifacts, relics, and fossils from colonized lands for centuries. These white scientists would send their “discoveries” back to their homelands with little regard for the people they stole from. I’ll acknowledge that Professor Snail doesn’t bring the bones and fossils off the island, so his character isn’t as awful as it could be, but he still canonically has this line:
Tumblr media
I really just don’t understand why it was necessary to make this character white when making him a character of color could have easily prevented the uncomfortable real-world implications of a white man coming to a foreign land to plunder fossils without asking anybody for permission. If he he’d been created as someone who traced his ancestry to Ginger Island and wanted to study the island’s biological history, his character could have been so sympathetic and even admirable to me! But his character as it is just makes me think of this meme:
Tumblr media
Here are some links for further reading about colonialism in paleontology and other social sciences: 1, 2, 3, 4.
Leo
I had a hard time figuring out how to write about this character because the way CA wrote him is arguably one of the most racist parts of SDV. So many aspects of his character left me speechless and appalled because I cannot believe people are still writing shit like this in the 2020s.
I’ll start off with his storyline: this white child gets stranded on an island and is raised by animals. When the farmer meets him, he speaks in broken English to show how “wild” he is:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As the farmer continues to interact with him, he begins to speak more “proper” English:
Tumblr media
Wow... he’s becoming more “civilized” because of the farmer’s influence!
As his story progresses, he reveals that he’s lonely because he doesn’t fit in among the other birds. Eventually, he leaves behind his non-human family and assimilates into a primarily white, Western-coded society because that’s supposedly where he belongs.
This whole storyline is made possible by the problems with the setting that I mentioned earlier. Leo wouldn’t feel so lonely and out of place if there were people on the island. He wouldn’t be depicted as wild and animal-like if he had an adoptive family made up of humans instead of parrots. But because CA chose not to have native human characters on this island, Leo can only be around other people if he leaves his home and family behind. As a result, Leo’s story has very uncomfortable parallels with how colonizers have historically separated indigenous children from their families and cultures and forced them to assimilate into the dominant colonizer culture because they considered indigenous cultures to be savage and barbaric (1) (2).
Leo’s whole narrative unintentionally implies that a good life in a good community can only be had in civilized white Western societies. I’m honestly having trouble with further explaining why Leo’s whole character makes me feel so gross, so just read up on the White Man’s Burden, The Jungle Book and other works by Rudyard Kipling (1) (2) (3) (4) (5, PDF download link), and even Tarzan (1) (2).
Leo’s character is also used to further whitewash non-white cultures:
Tumblr media
Poi is a Polynesian dish. Mango sticky rice, which is also a recipe that Leo teaches you in-game, is a Thai dish. In the letter, Leo says that the dish is from his home and enjoyed by his non-human family. Considering that he probably learned these recipes on Ginger Island, and that the only “people” who could have taught him this recipe are literal animals, including these recipes in the game in this way just reinforces the equation of brown people to animals. I’m not Polynesian or Thai, but I know that if CA had included a Filipino recipe in the game and not only had it taught to players by a white character, but also passed off as something from the white character’s culture, I’d be angry. I’ll repeat myself: The game features brown people's food and cultures, but it draws the line at brown people themselves.
I don’t think there’s any way to tweak or edit Leo’s character to fix the issues I described. No matter how we change things, he’s still an orphan raised by animals coded as indigenous people, and he assimilates into the dominant white Western culture. The only way to address these issues is to completely redo his character and even the setting of Ginger Island. Here are some options that I’ve thought of:
Leo is related to someone in the Valley and stays with them for part of the year.
Leo lives with his human family and community on Ginger Island.
Leo’s parents are specifically from Stardew Valley/Pelican Town and he wants to visit in order to reconnect with his heritage.
This list isn’t comprehensive, but it does show that there are so many alternatives to having yet another Mowgli story in Stardew Valley.
Conclusion
I don’t think that CA had bad intentions when he made this content, but the fact is that he did create this content. I’m not calling him a bad person. However, he does have a lot of racist, imperialist, and colonialist biases that he has yet to unlearn. Considering the setting and subject matter of the new 1.5 content, he really should have hired some sensitivity readers to avoid creating harmful content. The man’s sold over ten million copies of his game, and he certainly has the resources to put together a sensitivity team.
I can’t look at Stardew Valley the same way I did before 1.5, but I’m not going to condemn the game as a whole. I might play the game again someday, but I absolutely won’t be going back to Ginger Island. If you’ve enjoyed the Ginger Island content, then good for you! Please just keep all that I’ve written here in mind and accept that that content hurts some people like me.
If you’re a content creator, I urge you to get sensitivity readers if you’re featuring  cultures that you’re not a part of to avoid making the same mistakes that I’ve discussed here. Creating from a place of understanding and respect can only make your work better and more accessible to a wider audience, especially to the people whose culture you’re borrowing.

For Naming Your Sims...
Outside of trying to find accurate-ish CC (in relation to time-period and culture) and all that jazz for my Sims games, I take great care to try and find appropriate names as well. I'm sort of a self-proclaimed namenerd. If I'm not doing something Sims-related you can find me looking up things about names, naming fake families, etc...
That sorta leads me to the point of this post: RESOURCES so you don't have to keep naming your Sims the same 5 common names everyone else is using for their games! I notice a lot of name overlap for various gameplays I follow, especially the historical ones. There are so many unique options and variety when it comes to choosing an historically accurate name. (This may not matter to a lot of you, but I figured if I cared about it someone else out there might too. So, if that person is you, I hope you find this helpful!!)  Also, if anyone else knows of any sources for time-periods/cultures that I didn't include please let me know!!
Disclaimer: Majority of these are European based, because that is the easiest to find. I have searched for reliable, extensive sources of names from underrepresented cultures/ethnic groups/countries, but I don't always know the best way to search for accurate information, especially regarding something I'm not as familiar with.
A couple of good sites to start with are nameberry.com and behindthename.com. Nameberry is not always as accurate with meaning and origin, and it is lacking in tons of cultural diversity. (This is, thankfully, slowly changing). It can, however, be a good starting point, especially if you take the time to go through some of the forums on the site! The forums there are my favorite part of the site overall. There are also links to other name sites in various blog posts on the site. I believe I actually found my way onto most of the other sites I've linked here through various posts on Nameberry! Behind the name is more accurate when it comes to meaning and origin, and has a much wider range of cultures represented. There are, however, some user-submitted aspects, so always take those with a grain of salt. There are also pages related to different naming customs from around the world on the site as well.
British: British Baby Names has a pretty good collection of names from various time-periods. The blog has lists for Romans, Medieval, Tudor, Georgians, etc... plus a slew of various surnames! She also has posts on other European countries as well.
Medieval: Dictionary of Medieval Names from European Sources - the medieval name source of my dreams! They aim to provide the most accurate list of names that were actually used in medieval Europe. No made up names from stories here! Some of my personal faves:
Altabella(f.)
Blanchefleur(f.)
Cadwobri(m.)
Dulcibelle(f.)
Erchamfred(m.)
Framengilde(f.)
Knightwine(m.)
... I could do a whole post of the names to be honest. Anyways, also check out their blog, it's super cool history, namenerd stuff!
Anytime in recent-ish history: Newspapers, court documents, birth certificates...the list is long! Basically, in most western countries, you can find public access to a lot of documents, or an archive of newspapers to pull names from. This one does take a lot more dedication on each person's part as to how long one wants to spend searching for a name they like! (I spend, arguably, too much time doing this). If you're focusing on the Sims 4 Decades Challenge starting in the 1890's, then the SSA website will be a good bet, as it has records going back to 1880 for the USA. Unfortunately, majority of this stuff that is easy to find is going to be very western, very european, very white.
Japanese: Beyond Sakura and Hiroshi - Super cool blog with a lot of cool names. Also, some of my favorite features a good name site should have--pronunciation guides, etymology, history, and popularity.
Ritsuka (りつか)
Katsumi (かつみ)
Emi (えみ)
Saori (さおり)
Ryūya (りゅうや)
Yohē (よへえ)
The Sims 4 team has been upping the Asian representation in the game lately and it is great to see. (There are still so many underrepresented cultures in the game, but anytime I see something added that is not white and/or European at its core my heart gets so happy!) So I want my sims to have appropriate names that can fit the culture and aren't just a sad 'sounds like', made up attempt at being culturally correct. (Not that that's a pet-peeve of mine or anything)
West African: So, one of my favorites, because it can be very difficult to track down a source like this, at least in my limited experience, is The Yorùbá Name blog. The Yorùbá are an ethnic group from Western Africa, mainly in the modern countries of Nigeria, Benin, and Togo. Just a few examples:
Hárúnà
Fádáhùnsi
Ọláọmọ
Tiwaladé
Ẹfúnrántí
Rọ̀mádé
The site is described as "an online intervention to preserve and document all Yorùbá names in a multimedia format. It is part of a long-term project to document all types of African cultural experiences on the internet as a way of ensuring the survival of African identities in their various expressions." I can't even begin to put into words how amazing I think this is and how much more of this sort of thing is needed! So if you know of any similar resources please share! Even if they're not name-related!
And that is the end of my first post...it ended up super long, but I don't know if I could've done it shorter. So if you're still here at this point, thank you! I hope you enjoyed this and can find it useful:) I’d also like to so more specific name lists in the future, so, if I ever remember to do that, hopefully it’ll turn out:))

How haikyuu characters would play genshin impact:
//featuring me nerding out about mbti types 😔
Karasuno
Hinata
As an ESFP he would probably choose his main based on who feels good to use
Quick movements, lots of jumping, strong = XIAO MAIN (probably finds the flashiness and edginess cool and enjoys the button mashing too)
would aggressively compete with kageyama on who can beat spiral abyss the fastest and with the shortest time
unfortunately they’re both not very good (initially because kenma helps him out after)
Would try to follows the plot but dialogue goes over his head
Does not understand stats other than attack at first
Wish impulse is real and never has any primos
would attempt to talk to every npc
Kageyama
META SLAVE
Has no idea what wishing/gacha is at first and builds his starters really well
Then he found out and currently mains Ganyu, Zhongli, Hutao for the big numbers
gloats about his first 5 star to hinata
Does not talk to NPCs at all and barely digs into the story
only there for spiral abyss and to make his characters stronger
Tsukishima
Didn’t wanna play until yamaguchi dragged him in to have someone to co op with
Appreciates the story and lore more than the gameplay aspect
Eula, razor (cv uchiyama kouki) main—easy to build, easy to use
Doesn’t care about wishing either
Got Eula by accident and now holds it over kageyama’s head
Has really good artifact RNG that it infuriates kagehina (gloats about it to fan the flame 😚)
Yamaguchi
he’s infp he chooses based on characters he likes 🥺
Diluc, albedo, ayaka main
(i can’t explain why I think he’d like those three, it just Makes Sense)
Co ops with tsukki and yachi, plays both dps and support
Spiral abyss makes him anxious but he pushes through anyway!!
Daichi
Starter team king 😩
Feels bad about switching his regular team out FJDFJDJJDDJ DAICHI
Probably a casual player though
Plays to coop with suga and tanaka but they carry him through domains
he’s trying his best
Suga
Mains based on whoever’s fun to play too!!
but enjoys more of a challenge
Childe main
Waiting for Scaramouche to drop hAha 🥲 and harbingers in general
Appreciates the plot and is very interested in lore!!
Diligently does spiral abyss
Doesn’t quite wish on impulse, but if theres a character he likes he’ll spend everything on their banner
Asahi
Does not play, got too scared (see: haikyuu ova)
Nishinoya
Rolls VERY much on impulse
Similar to hinata in that he also likes playing playstyles that feel good
Xiao and/or yoimiya main
(xiao because he’s short jk)
Probably raised Rosaria and planned to use her
Plot who???? we only care about world exploration and fighting in this house
Tanaka
wished for all the women, raised all the women, uses all the women
valid
Primarily mains Rosaria, ningguang and Lisa though
sorry beidou you remind him of his sister too much
waiting for signora like many of us are
Coops with noya and has INSANELY bad rng luck
Yachi
Also chooses based on characters’ personalities
gay, mains sucrose and jean
isfj child and probably feels bad about the underrated characters :(
uses amber, xinyan and qiqi too!
Raises all characters but hasn’t raised anyone to 90
Coops with yamaguchi and uses jean (as healer, support, damage dealer)
Talks to NPCs and sympathizes with their sad backstories
Gets too anxious to do spiral floors 9-12 too (mood)
Seijoh
Oikawa
Oh boy
this ENFJ 3w2 guy? you KNOW he’s gonna be the best
As long as it doesn’t clash with volleyball of course
Very VERY competitive in abyss
Has one character hed get attached to but doesn’t limit himself to using them only
Incredibly focused on team synergy, carefully crafts teams to bring out the best in each character
Tests best damage output too
But also he’d probably use meta characters and secretly raise the ones he actually likes?
Current fave: Yoimiya
Uses strong characters for coop but uses his faves for single player domains (or coop with iwaizumi)
Likes characters but surprisingly wouldnt be too invested in the plot
does not whale out of pride
Iwaizumi
Geo user
Uses characters he finds respectable in the storyline + hard hitters
Razor, klee, jean main but unaware of the family relationship
Sometimes uses beidou although her burst takes too long sometimes
Pretty casual player, only started because of Oikawa
Hanamaki
obviously he and matsukawa would make zhongli pillar dick jokes
Kaeya and beidou main (he thinks they’re cool)
Not that impatient to wait for bursts to charge or has a lot of energy recharge
whale
Matsukawa
……. Hutao main
funeral home
Would use qiqi and hutao together for the meme then grows to genuinely like qiqi
Saves up for a really long time then spends it all at once
Kindaichi
Doesn’t play much tbh
Offline for a week, comes back to do commissions for one day, leaves
Kunimi
Hed be pretty good
but lazy and forget to do dailies
then buy welkin moon instead
Focuses more on the story too rather than gameplay and points out loopholes
Mains whoever he has in his team with good synergy (like chongyun xingqiu xiangling)
Kyoutani
Rage quits 5 minutes in after hearing paimon’s voice 😔
Throws his phone at the wall
Yahaba
Simps for jean
Mains jean
Dedicated to dailies and spiral abyss
But doesn’t wish that much
Was the one who tried getting kyoutani into it and suffered the consequences
Nekoma
Kuroo
ENTP king raises a whole arsenal of characters for spiral abyss
I cant see him really getting attached to one in particular ?
makes zhongli pillar dick jokes every chance he can get
but also uses him for utility
Wants to try using a whole bunch of characters and wishes on every banner
But uses the meta ones with good team comps
sparks twitter debates with ….. interesting takes
“_____ is completely shit”
Kenma
OH BOY HES A GAMER GAMER
Whale whale whale whale
He’s tony to
Best synergy teams, understands the value of elemental mastery, REALLY values good supports, calculates possible damage numbers
Kazuha, zhongli, bennett, venti are a staple in his teams
Helps hinata and kuroo until kuroo teases too much by deliberately playing horribly
mildom and youtube streamer like murase ayumu
Appreciates story and lore very much too
Yaku
he’d LOVE the children
Probably would use characters that remind him of family members and friends
Klee, diona, qiqi, chongyun, xingqiu, razor, bennett
does spiral abyss but not obsessively
Lev
KENMA-SAN!!! LETS PLAY TOGETHER!!!
I’m sorry he would not know how the game works
Doesn’t do the ascension quests and gets stuck at AR 26 with 500k extra points
Thinks he’s amazing but it’s because he’s stuck at world level 1
I’m sorry lev ily but ……. its the truth
Tries pulling for everyone too and mains the first 5 star he got
(childe because he’s russian AKSHDKDHSKSHS /j)
Wants diluc and xiao because they look cool but gets Mona instead (doesnt understand how to use her)
Yamamoto
Also raises the women like tanaka but + kaeya
Lev complained to him about getting Mona while he’s wanted Mona for months
Not really a dedicated intense gamer EXCEPT for during those battle events
Fukurodani
Bokuto
WANTS THE STRONG AND COOL LOOKING 5 STARS
Eula, zhongli, diluc, xiao
but doesn’t know how to build either
doesn’t understand stats
would feel really bad for qiqi
Wouldn’t like signora for hurting venti :(
Wouldn’t like childe too :( until he plays the story quest and sees the ruin guard cutscene
then starts sobbing because of what a good brother he is
“AKAAAASSHI I wanna do that too!!!” then he dies
Tries to use childe but doesn’t understand the cool down management
Mispronounces and misspells tartaglia (タルタリア)
for more info on how bokuto plays genshin see Kimura ryohei’s YouTube channel ✨
Akaashi
the true childe main (just like me)
Uses characters based on utility
but mains whoever reminds him of bokuto FJDHFJFJDKSJ
Very good supports but unlike Kenma, he chooses and builds supports around his main
also uses very good supports so people won’t realize he’s using childe for the cv kimura ryohei (everyone knows anyway)
Literature nerd appreciates the plot, writing and deep lore too
Konoha
Tries pulling for everyone but has REALLY bad luck
Has really good characters but never the one he wants
loses all 50/50s and has a c4 qiqi
Ends up maining qiqi as dps
sorry konoha i didn’t mean to slander you
Shiratorizawa
Ushijima
does not know how to play or build
Uses whoever he has (aka starters)
Only plays because tendou downloaded and made an account for him
Doesn’t know how to ascend characters or farm
Forgets about talents (me)
Weirdly good RNG and doesn’t realize it 😩
“Let me look at your account wakatoshi-kun”
“Sure”
“You didn’t tell me you had 6 of jean’s Stella fortuna???”
“What’s that?”
Tendou
this man pulls for the seiyuus
Mains childe, hutao, mona for 5 stars
childe and hutao’s instinct based quickswap playstyle works so well for him!
jokes about cosplaying mona then actually does
Knows how to build, grinds, and manages ushijima’s account for him
Probably whales too
Shirabu
Meta meta meta meta
But f2p meta
Loves setting up reactions
More into the lore too and researches theories
Remembers actual names of boss drops
Semi: so how many of those buttplugs do you have again
Shirabu: 💢stop calling them buttplugs, they have actual names 💢
VERY diligent with battle pass, dailies, achievements and spiral abyss full stars
Until he //SPOILERS gets into med school and has no time for shit
Inarizaki
Atsumu
Would have a crush on a character I just know it
Invests heavily on his faves and is great at utilizing each of them
fussy . complains about a certain unit and how they can improve
or complains about how the game can improve to osamu
Osamu: yer just saying that cuz you couldn’t get a high score
Archons main (already saving for the tsaritsa)
Wouldn’t have a main dps but several hard hitting supports
Whale and falls victim to the weapon banner
Osamu
More casual player than Atsumu but still tries to get higher than him in events and spiral abyss
If atsumu’s a whale, osamu’s a dolphin
Great at dodging
Catalyst user!!
Mains ningguang, klee, yanfei + other catalyst supports
Also uses keqing
Kita
the man appreciates routine aka VERY diligent with dailies, battle pass, farming
“if you do things properly results will follow” or whatever quote he said ✨
Starter team but raises other characters for abyss
Reads dialogue and appreciates the plot
Barely gachas
Aran
will defend TO THE DEATH the underappreciated characters
Has empathy for noelle 🥺🥺
Noelle, Barbara, xinyan, bennett, children user 🥺
Talks to every NPC and loves the backstories and lore
also would feel really bad for qiqi
Suna
Uses the tall men and women and builds them all as dps (childe zhongli diluc kaeya beidou ningguang jean lisa rosaria eula)
He’d probably make a support character a dps tbh
Disregards team synergy for the shits but somehow manages to do domains and abyss
Itachiyama
Sakusa
c6 everyone
leaves

Gameplay features we should have in a future Fallout title
Based on what we’ve had in previous games. Just some random storyline stuff and game stuff I’ve enjoyed so far:
Regions (Fallout 4, 76): Yes, I know every game has regions, but I'm talking about the difference in how life grows in certain areas and the level of radiation in said area kind of thing. The regions in 76 have so much personality. Fallout 4 only had the Commonwealth/Glowing Sea as its base game regions in how nature has evolved, but in 76 it's so diverse. Different mutated creatures are more native to different areas, and it has the flora to go alongside with it.
Plans (Fallout 76): Yeah, most of the 3D Fallout games has a few schematics for some weapons, and maybe a small variety of unique consumables, but I like how 76 makes you actually work and spend caps for Plans in order to know how to make something new. Not just weapons, but food, drinks, armor, workshop, etc. Because if this was real life, you wouldn't magically know how to make everything all of a sudden. They keep basic knowledge food items like deathclaw steak, which you can just cook up, as recipes you already know and you find recipes for more "advanced" dishes, and I really enjoy that.
Consumables System (Fallout 76): The amount of variety you have in regards to consumables in this game is amazing. There's so many mutated animals to cook up, so many plants to make soup, and you can make tea and even make juice out of something like mutfruit. I also love the additions we can put into consumables now (sugar, salt, pepper, honey, and we FINALLY have milk). So what they gave us in Fallout 4 with the better cooking aspects has been taken to new heights. Your food spoils now, and boiling water doesn't purify it, it just makes it boiled, which means you NEED a purifier to make it clean.
Eating/Drinking consumables without using Pip-Boy (Fallout 76): This is extremely useful, especially in an online game, and I think it'd work well in single player as well. You no longer have to hoard a bunch of stuff to just eat it, you now have the option to eat it on the spot as well, and move on with your life.
Layered Armor System and the ability to wear costumes over them (Fallout 4, 76): Fallout 4 introduced to us the layered armor system, which is one of the greatest things we've been given in regards to customizing outfits in the game, and now with Fallout 76 we have two different outfit options, armor and clothing. Now, not only can we wear underarmor and armor over it to protect us, but we now have coveralls as well to do so in style whilst retaining the effects of whatever else we wear underneath it.
Distant Weather Systems (Fallout 76): Pretty self explanatory - the ability to see storms coming from a distance as well as nuclear explosions along the horizon is pretty great if you ask me.
Faction Reputation (New Vegas, Fallout 76): I really like these features, because let's be honest, you can't stay on everyone's good side forever. There was only one case of this in Fallout 4, and that was the "You are now enemies with X faction". That ain't good enough. If we could get a mix of the faction reputation system in NV/76, I would be very pleased.
Karma and Affinity (Fallout 3, New Vegas, Fallout 4): The ultimate decider of good and evil. While in NV you had reputations amongst different factions, the karma system is the ultimate decider of where you stand in the wasteland. I like the individual Affinity system with companions as well, because it gives you the chance to either be a certain way, or pretend to act a way to gain trust. I can see why Karma was removed in 4 though, because Karma is based upon what everyone in the wasteland knows of you, so that would've limited the ability to stay on all the companions good sides if your Karma was at a certain level. If there was a way to balance it out though, that would be great. Or maybe they could find a way to make Karma separate from companions, and still make it work out nicely with their individual Affinity.
Maybe Karma in regards to companions could be the determiner of "first impressions", and then the Affinity you develop with them is the determiner of who you really are. They did a reversal of this in Fallout 4 where companions such as Cait, MacCready and Hancock have a more badass reputation when you first meet them, but as you get to know them you find they've been through a lot of suffering. But they still keep their initial reputation among outsiders. If it can be done with NPC's, who's to say it can't be done with the player?
"You are now dressed as a member of X" (New Vegas): The ability to disguise ourselves as members of different factions was a great addition, and really should be bought back. You can get into places you couldn't before, amongst people you normally couldn't, but I think if it's bought back, then factions you work alongside with should be able to detect whether or not it's you, unless you wear a mask or a facial covering.
Clothing is as clothing does (Fallout 4, 76): Suits shouldn't just magically turn into dresses just because you decided to play as a female. If you wanna alternate between "male" and "female" versions of an outfit, then let there just be suit/dress versions of certain styles of clothing. I liked how 4/76 did this, because now, if you wanna be a guy in a dress. Guess what? You can be a guy in a dress.
Workshops and C.A.M.P features (Fallout 4, 76): I doubt we're going to get the ability to make an obnoxious amount of settlements again (maybe), but I admire the chance we're given to build and really make a part of the wasteland our own, and I even more so love how 76 really gives us all those buildings and furniture and decorations to really personalize what you have. Who knows, maybe a future title will give us a combination of workshops you naturally have in place for construction, settlements to help build up (because saving the day always seems to be the job of the player), and then C.A.M.Ps that we as the player can move wherever we like. Maybe we could be given the option to build campsites for other NPCs as a temporary or permeant home. Maybe what we build up will have the ability to be destroyed like in 76.
Grey Morality/Politics (A bit over all titles, talking especially about New Vegas, The Pitt, things of the sort): The factions we were given in NV all had good and bad sides to them, making it sometimes difficult to have a truly perfect utopia. I hope we get back more morally grey choices as well as factions and politics, or instances in where there is no right answer other than wrong and a little less wrong. I don't really need to explain in detail, you've seen how things have played out across titles.
Old Dialogue System (Every game but Fallout 4): Options yes, no, no but actually yes and sarcasm aren't good enough. I love the cinematic aspect FO4 had, don't get me wrong, but conversation is so limited. I also loved the ridiculous way the camera would zoom right on someone's face (I feel sometimes in 76 you can just be way too far from someone talking sometimes) and I'd like to be able to walk out of the conversation whenever I want as well.
Certain Perks/Stats result certain outcomes (Most of the old titles): I wanna be able to get away with low intelligent speeches, flirt with people to get my way, things of the sort. Pretty simple.
That's all I've got for now since I've been working on this list for hours but yeah. Feel free to add things you'd like to see. Personality I'd just like to see the best features and aspects taken from all the games to create the "ultimate Fallout experience".

Do you have a tag for games you recommend? I'm always looking for new games and my experience with point and click or 90s computer games is sorely lacking.
💕My favorite question💕 I took one of my old posts and updated it, so here!
💕 Personal Favorite
💀 Scary Content
👧 Female Protagonist
✨ Important to the genre’s history
📚 Tricky for new players, look up controls or a walkthrough to get started
❕  Difficult
👿 Potential insensitive content
The Colonel’s Bequest (1989) $5.99 💕✨👧💀❕📚
Tumblr media
“It is the year 1925, and the roaring '20s are well underway. As Laura Bow, young college student, you've been invited to visit the Colonel's isolated estate. Watch as the Colonel announces his intention to bequeath his millions to all present!”
The classic Sierra murder mystery game, developed by the mother of the genre Roberta Williams. Laura Bow is a sorely overlooked female protagonist. The game works by navigating Laura and typing in commands, kinda of tricky at first. Tons of game overs are a hallmark of a Sierra adventure game so save often! If you play the GOG.com version you get the benefit of autosaves. This game runs a timer, the events of the night will unfold with or without you so stay on your toes and keep moving! The game can be found for free here, but imo the $5.99 is worth it for the easy of access.
The Dagger of Amon-Ra (1992) $5.99 👧✨❕📚👿💀
Tumblr media
“Laura Bow, intrepid heroine of The Colonel's Bequest, is back! This time she's trapped in a huge, imposing museum in the dead of night, surrounded by socialites, miscreants, thieves...and a cold, relentless murderer.“
Roberta Williams is back! Iconic game, iconic heroine. It’s still a Sierra game so like TCB there are tons of (iconic) game overs, so save often. Solving puzzles in this one gives me a great serotonin rush. Unfortunately, this game has some racism issues, particularly with the characters Lo Fat and Ramses. While an important game in the genre take it with a huge grain of salt and maybe turn of the (kind of awful) voice acting and enable text-only mode and you’ll avoid some awful accents.
Sam & Max: Hit the Road (1993) $5.99 💕✨
Tumblr media
“Sam (a canine shamus) and Max (a hyperkinetic rabbity thing) are hot on the trail of a runaway carnival bigfoot across America’s quirky underbelly in this deranged animated adventure!“
Sam & Max are truly my favorite characters in all of fiction. I have the box art to this game as my phone case. I have Sam & Max action figures, a plush Max on my bed, a print edition of Sam & Max Freeland Police Special #1 framed on my wall. From comics, to games, to cartoons I love these guys. Sam & Max: Hit the Road is a classic of the Lucasarts adventure games. That being said, it’s the least user-friendly of the Sam & Max adventure games and the slowest. I still love it to bits and it’s important to the genre’s history imo.
Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Fathers (1993) $5.99 💕💀👿
Tumblr media
“The adventure of Gabriel Knight starts with gathering materials for his new book, and ends up becoming a fight for his very soul. He must now face countless dangers in New Orleans, Africa and Germany, each bringing him ever closer to unraveling the mystery behind suspicious voodoo murders. Haunted by nightmares, he won't give up until he reveals the truth. “
Another Sierra game directed by a woman, Jane Jenson. Gabriel Knight, voiced by Tim Curry, is one of my favorite adventure game protagonists of all time. This game is scary and gory so enter at your own risk! I love the gameplay in this one, I love the narrator, I love the puzzles. But it seems Sierra games have some problems with the representation of minorities. The game is set in New Orleans and focuses on a voodoo cult. Which means consequently the game's major antagonists are all black. Unlike the Dagger of Amon Ra, Sins of the Fathers actually employed black actors to play black characters. There’s a lot to be said about the ways in which white media demonizes voodoo and those who practice it. If you play this one, remain critical. And for the love of god, don’t play the 20th anniversary version.
Day of the Tentacle: Remastered (1993/2016) $14.99 ✨👧❕
Tumblr media
“Originally released by LucasArts in 1993 as a sequel to Ron Gilbert’s ground breaking Maniac Mansion, Day of the Tentacle is a mind-bending, time travel, cartoon puzzle adventure game in which three unlikely friends work together to prevent an evil mutated purple tentacle from taking over the world!“
Another classic LucasArts game! This was the first game co-headed by Tim Schaffer who would go on to make the outstanding Grim Fandango! This one is exceedingly wacky and the remastered version has made it more user-friendly than ever.
Toonstruck (1996) $9.99 💕
Tumblr media
“Drew Blanc is a cartoon animator and the original creator of the Fluffy Fluffy Bun Bun Show.. Drew's boss, Sam Schmaltz, sets him the task of designing more bunnies to co-star in the Fluffy Fluffy Bun Bun Show by the next morning. However, the depressed animator soon nods off, suffering from acute artist's block. He wakes early the next morning to inexplicably find his television switched on, announcing the Fluffy Fluffy Bun Bun Show. Suddenly, Drew is mysteriously drawn into the television screen and transported to an idyllic two-dimensional cartoon world populated by his own creations, among many other cartoon characters.“
If you’re a fan of Who Framed Roger Rabbit? you’ll love this. Christopher Lloyd is Drew Blanc (ha) trying to save a cartoon world through inventory item puzzles. Truly wacky, zany, and ani-mainy. I played Toontown as a kid so I’m predisposed to like this one. This is also the only game with Full Motion Video I’m putting on the list because FMV games can be an acquired taste.
Grim Fandango (1996/2015) $14.99 💕✨
Tumblr media
“Something's rotten in the land of the dead, and you're being played for a sucker. Meet Manny Calavera, travel agent at the Department of Death. He sells luxury packages to souls on their four-year journey to eternal rest. But there's trouble in paradise. Help Manny untangle himself from a conspiracy that threatens his very salvation.“
Yesssssssss! I LOVE Grim Fandango! The iconic game directed by Tim Schaffer has received the best remaster I’ve seen a point n’ click receive. I cannot recommend Grim Fandango enough! Stick with it through the forest section, trust me.
The Last Express (1997) $5.99 ❕ 📚
Tumblr media
“Paris, 1914. The world is on the brink of war and this train could push it over the edge. You are Robert Cath, a young American urgently summoned by your old friend Tyler Whitney to join him aboard the Paris-Constantinople express, departing from the Gare de l'Est on July 24th. Arriving late, you discover something has gone terribly wrong. Now you must untangle a complex web of political intrigue, suspense, romance, and betrayal. Every move you make could bring you closer to the truth or your own demise. Bon voyage! “
Ooooh I love a murder on a train! This game features rotoscope animation, which I love. Like The Colonel’s Bequest this game runs in real time, meaning the events of the game will unfold with or without you, depending on where you are at what time you’ll receive different information or see/miss different events. Very replayable with several different outcomes.
Sam & Max Save the World (Remastered) $19.99 💕
Tumblr media
“ Sam is a six-foot canine detective with a love of justice. Max is a hyperkinetic rabbity-thing with a taste for mayhem. Together, they're the Freelance Police. And they're about to save the world.”
Sam & Max Save the World, originally released in episodes from 2006-2008 has been remastered and looks AMAZING! After LucasArts was shut down their game devs formed Tell Tale Games and produced three seasons of Sam & Max sequel games, all of which are great. But TellTale was shut down (and screwed over their employees) in 2018. Since then some of their devs have formed Skunkape Games and are currently remastering all of Tell Tale’s Sam & Max series (I’m thrilled). They’ve also adjusted some aspects of the game to make the game more inclusive and less **offensive. So imo it’s worth it to wait for the release of the other seasons to experience Sam & Max in pristine condition. Save the World is the only season out now, but you can get the non-remastered versions of Beyond Time and Space, and In The Devil’s Playhouse, here and here.
**I should note the “offensive” material in the original is not as egregious as say, The Dagger of Amon-Ra, but it’s just a nice change to see especially in a game I hold dear.
Emerald City Confidential (2009) $9.99 👧
Tumblr media
“Explore the underbelly of Oz as Emerald City's most cunning detective! As Petra, you'll be lured deep into mysteries involving new foes and familiar faces; Scarecrow, Lion, and Toto included! This is Oz as you've never seen it before! Solve the mystery and unravel a conspiracy of magic and intrigue! Follow a case through five chapters full of puzzles, witnesses, suspects, and allies in this twist on a timeless classic! “
We’re moving out of the 1990s now. Emerald City Confidential is the Wizard of Oz meets film noir. I played this as 13 year old and have revisited it as an adult and I still eat it up. Wadjet Eye makes consistently good adventure games so check this one out!
The Blackwell Series (2006) $14.99 💕👧
Tumblr media
“Meet Rosangela Blackwell, an embittered writer who just found out that she is a medium and that it’s her mission, whether she likes it or not, to assist tormented spirits and investigate other supernatural goings-on. She is assisted by the sardonic Joey Mallone, a ghost from the 1930s.”
Another Wadjet Eye game! I’ve seen these games recommended amoungst the Clue Crew before and I’ll just throw my own endorsement on the pile. Yeah I’m in love with Joey Mallone. What about it?
The Charnel House Trilogy (2015) $5.99 👧💀
Tumblr media
“Witness The Charnel House Trilogy, the chronicle of one fateful night aboard a train bound for Augur Peak. Three thrilling, horrifying adventure games in one, from the depths of the Sepulchre.”
Plays like Blackwell, has a Blackwell reference at the beginning, okay you got me. This is a good, if kinda short, game. It’s very creepy, involves murder and has some gore/violence so watch out! I’m still waiting on the sequel Owl Cave!
Thimbleweed Park (2017) $19.99 👧
Tumblr media
“A haunted hotel, an abandoned circus, a burnt-out pillow factory, a dead body pixelating under the bridge, toilets that run on vacuum tubes... you’ve never visited a place like this before.“
Made by Ron Gilbert and  Gary Winnick the creators of the classic games Maniac Mansion and Monkey Island Thimbleweed Park is a love letter to the classics of the point and click adventure genre. Features 5 different playable characters, ala Maniac Mansion, who and how many you play is up to you! This one also has stand alone DLCs!
Unavowed (2018) $14.99 👧
Tumblr media
“ A demon possessed you one year ago. Since that day, you unwillingly tore a trail of bloodshed through New York City. Your salvation comes in the form of the Unavowed – an ancient society dedicated to stopping evil.”
Okay I haven’t actually played this one, but I want to. Its a Wadjet Eye so you know it’s good. From the reviews I’ve seen this is the Blackwell Series meets Dragon Age. A point and click that incorporates RPG elements, I love that.
I also have a love of the more, strange, and unusual adventure games that I can't necessarily recommend with good conscience. So if you want bizarre 90s and early 2000s games of dubious quality hit me up.
