1. it’s my 24th birthday today, so my goal of being published by the time i’m 25 is now a one year looming monster, but i never specified what kind of published and am currently looking in various literary magazines that are recommended for writers who have yet to be published, so i’m surprisingly confident that i can make it work? and tbh even if whatever i write isn’t officially published before my 25th birthday, if i have someone in the process of being published then i’ll be happy!! no matter what though, i’m gonna try to be proud of myself for at least giving it my best shot!!
2. i honestly love that my birthday is on the ides of march because the ides of march meme shitposting is only a thing on tumblr but it also being my birthday makes it easier to like. be excited about the ides of march outside of tumblr. like even in person i can be like “it’s my birthday! i’m an ides of march babe (:” and if someone is like oh what’s that? or if they say something along the lines of oh like julius caesar? i can be like yep!! and even if it’s a small thing outside of tumblr it brings me immense enjoyment and amusement being able to bring it up off of tumblr
3. transportation situation has been very rough since june 2023 when i totalled my car, my gap insurance are being assholes and i ended up putting my foot down on the phone with them yesterday which i’m pretty proud of because i am NOT a confrontational person (something i’ve been working on this past year, so seeing some improvement with my ability to hold my ground and not be a pushover yesterday was very cool!!) i was told i’d get a response from them by friday next week no matter what, and if i don’t then friday of next week i will continue to wreak havoc upon them. but my moms car which i’ve been using since my accident broke down yesterday, hopefully it’s fixable but my parents were saying it might be done for, so trying to think of how i’m gonna get to work next week is kind of stressing me out lmao, but for now i’m just gonna focus on enjoying my birthday the best i can because i don’t want to start off being 24 with an overwhelming anxiety for something that won’t be a potential issue until monday. plus i already messaged my boss today to let her know that i’m going to do everything i can to make it work out but just so she’s in the loop and knows of the potential of me not being able to make my morning shifts (one of my coworkers said she’s more than happy to give me a ride for our afternoon shifts which does help relieve some of the stress!) and i told her i’d let her know for sure sunday so that if necessary she can have time to figure out someone to fill in for me in the mornings!
overall: life is weird and i ended being 23 yesterday with a shitty situation but a positive outlook and i am going to enjoy my first day of being 24 no matter what because honestly i fucking earned it. happy friday everyone, i hope it’s a good day for you and me both!
#aritalks#i did cry a little bit when i first woke up because i dont really know what to do about work and also i hate not having a car i can use#not only because of the work aspect but also getting my license when i was 18 gave me a freedom i didn’t have before#and i don’t like having to rely on other people just to like go to the fucking store or something yk#but then my best friend/roommate messaged me happy birthday and i was like fuck it! today is going to be a good day!#the stressful uncertainties can wait until tomorrow#also one of my best friends who hasn’t said happy birthday to me the past two years#(not intentionally im p sure they were just busy on my birthdays the past two years#and then had that moment of ‘oh shit i didnt send a message fuck i think its too late now’ which i totally get bc anxiety things yk)#was one of the first people to message me happy birthday!!#i’m also hoping to still be able to go see my mom and then stay the night at my dads tonight#so i can see both my parents and also my baby siblings for my birthday#my dads working today but after he texted happy birthday i sent him a text asking if he thinks we could still make it work#my mom is asleep still i think (she called me at midnight and left a voicemail singing happy birthday!! but her sleep schedule has been all#over the place recently so i’m waiting until 11:30 to call her which is in like 30 mins)#but she said something yesterday about driving out to me to give me a hug and also bring me my diabetes stuff that got delivered#(her house is my mailing address because i know it’s not going to change bc it’s my great grandparents house that she’s partially inhereting#when my great grandpa dies but since i have moved out of my dads my address has changed twice and i didnt have a mailbox at my last place so#just for the sake of consistency and not having to worry about important shit getting sent to the wrong address i’ve had her house as my#mailing address since i moved out of my dads at 19)#so i think i’m gonna ask her if she can just pick me up instead so i can go to her house w her and hang out with her#and hopefully my dad will be able to at least stop by with my siblings so i can see them too#i’d like to stay the night with them but if we can’t make it happen then i can also stay the night w my mom and hopefully tomorrow figure#out the car situation. might have to rent a car for a week if i can afford it? best case scenario is my moms car can be fixed but i still#dont know whats wrong with it ik there are two potential problems and one is fixable the other is not#the fixable one would cost like $150-$400 to fix depending on if we get a used part or a new one#if its $150-$200 ish i can probably afford to pay for the whole thing or at least most of it#but if its more than that hopefully my dad or one of my family members can help#and i can just pay them back in like $50 increments with my next few paychecks#just realized i said i wouldnt worry abt the car thing today and also i think im at tag limit to i’ll stop now lmao xoxo gossip girl ❤️

Did I make a mistake?
As you're all well aware of I said goodbye to my blogs and Tumblr thinking my decision was final. However after reading all your wonderful messages I started to have doubts about my decision. So for the last few weeks I've been trying to pinpoint why I thought I had fallen out of love with high end fashion as well as Tumblr itself and the answer has been in front of my face for the best part of four years. A broken down friendship that has been plaguing my mental health… until recently and I'm going to finally explain why. I had a best friend for the best part of 15 years that went downhill both slowly and unexpectedly. We met on a forum back in 2005 and hit it off instantly. We then met up and went on various holidays, attended concerts together, did mini weekend breaks away and got to know each other's families really well. More importantly they were the only person in my life who knew about this blog and shared my love for high end fashion. Like most friendships though it had its ups and downs but no matter what we always gravitated back towards one another, until March 2020. A week or so before COVID and lockdown took hold of our lives they told me they had met someone. I was genuinely happy for them, except for the fact they had let slip that I was the last person to know. This broke my heart and their trust as they continued to let slip more details that indicated that I was being pushed out in favour of a new crowd (aka university friends who they had told me they disliked a few months beforehand) alongside their new partner. They stayed with their partner on and off throughout COVID and I was either pushed out the door or let back in depending on their relationship status. The relationship came to an end for good towards the end of 2022 and as always I was let back into their life with plans for 2023 being made. However I held back knowing the hurt it would cause me if things suddenly changed again. This was also my breaking point with them as I wanted to protect my heart from anymore hurt, and I believe this is where my love for creativity began to faulter. Whilst I found my love for gaming I felt this mental block around Evermore-Fashion and Evermore-Grimoire which I thought was down to my passions changing. I was clearly wrong. The friendship was up and down for another six months, until last summer. They had got back in contact with me despite the fact they had started acting cold towards me which manifested in a crap Christmas and Birthday. Yet I was still willing to hear their side of the story, but it never came as they ghosted me and I haven't spoken to them since which hasn't been fun to deal with both mentally and emotionally. Although I now fully believe this is what was killing my spirit and everything I had loved for so long. Anyway fast forward to January 2024, I've said goodbye to my blogs and Tumblr when lo and behold I come across a social media post that changed everything. The ex friend had written something personal that contradicted everything they had told me (over their relationship break up) which not only angered me but it lit a fire under my butt to stop stewing in the "what ifs?" as well as holding on to a small bit of hope that they'd finally apologise for treating me like a piece of shit on the back of their shoe for so long. Not only that but I started to miss why I enjoyed being online in the first place. I checked out Vogue to see what was occurring during Paris Fashion Week and I yearned to share the Spring 2024 Couture collections on Tumblr (even though I still think it's still a toxic cesspit). Yes I could easily start this up on Wordpress or Instagram but let's face it, Tumblr is still the easiest place to start blogging creatively. So here I am. The fog surrounding my love for fashion has lifted alongside the mental and emotional baggage I've been holding on to for far too long. There's just one thing I'm still wondering though… do you guys forgive me (as I feel like I've messed you all around ) and is it okay to come back? 🥹

#“is this… a love bite, darling?”
—you have a hickey… or is it really?
CHARACTERS. Al-Haitham, Ayato, Childe, Kaeya, Kazuha, Tighnari, Wanderer/Scaramouche, Xiao
THEMES. mostly crack, slightly suggestive, fluff (mentions of scenting on Tighnari’s but it’s for the laughs anyway); has a few curses here and there
NOTES. I’M BACK !!! haven’t written this much for… weeks? i think it’s been a month or two. i hope i did not rusted out but hey enjoy~ also, happy birthday ayato yay
Tumblr media
XIAO knew very well that he had mostly been absent these days–actually, for most of the days. It is true, but he did try to give you as much time as he could whilst not overlooking his duty to Liyue.
This time, you tried to play a prank on him (well, you did miss him a lot), and it was a suggestion from your friend… yep, it is certainly not the boss of your Yaksha’s god who is probably now awaiting for the news of how your lover will react on that small mark on your neck.
“What is the meaning of this?” his voice looms over all of a sudden.
“Xiao!” You jump for a second, surprised at how fast he had gotten in the room when you had just barely uttered his name aloud. Your surprise strengthens even more as his spear falls to the side and he steps forward to your form, eyes trained on your neck, with a hand raising carefully-
“What… happened to your…” he trails off, raising his eyes to meet yours, “why are you hurt? Did… did someone do this to you?”
You could tell that he was this close to speed off to try and find anyone who could have possibly caused such a mark in your (delicate) skin—ah!
“N-no, I mean… I just…” you bit your lip, I just scratched it… a bit too much, I suppose,” you then took his raised hand (that was too fearful to even touch you), and smiled gently his way. “Don’t worry about it too much, love.”
The tension on his shoulders ease up, but you could tell he was still worried with the frown on his lips and the concern in his eyes.
“I see… should I ask for an ointment? Yes, I probably should… I’ll be back in a moment.”
┌───────── · · · · ꒰⚘݄꒱₊
The WANDERER’s eyes immediately zero into your neck.
Was he forgetting something?
Did something happen last night??
Did he perhaps accidentally do something that-
“Hey, what’s on your mind, love?” you’d try to get him to spit it out-but nope, he wouldn’t say a single thing about it.
You’d probably think he was all jealous and shit, but this prick actually misunderstood it!
“No, it’s nothing,” he hurriedly dismisses you, looking away with a small blush on his cheeks, “it’s just… do you not have a scarf?! It’s cold nowadays. Can’t have you sneezing right in front of my face.”
He immediately tries to get a hold of a scarf—no matter whose it is.
“But it’s not cold in Sumeru at all!”
“Oh, is it? Then still wear it. The sun might damage your skin, can't have you complaining about it.”
┌───────── · · · · ꒰⚘݄꒱₊
TIGHNARI, for one, is naturally someone who does not shy away when words need to be said. A very straightforward one, you need not be told as you already knew very much. So when the time came that you suddenly had a mark on your neck (that you did not know where it came from) and it looks very much like a love bite that someone would give to a person they like, he was already by your side in a heartbeat.
“Hm, I do not think I quite recall giving such a mark on you, darling,” he’d whisper next to your ear as he so nonchalantly brushes away the piece of clothing that tried to hide the mark—but it wasn’t enough, it appears… or so you made it to be.
“Nari, I-”
“Huh? What was that?” He’d cut you off purposefully, an arm around your waist. And all of a sudden, he was all over you, probably scenting you like a madman until he realizes it was all fake and he’d pretend nothing happened in the past few minutes when everyone and you saw how he reacted not too long ago.
┌───────── · · · · ꒰⚘݄꒱₊
KAZUHA is a sly little piece of shit. He does not ask you anything about it until he gets close enough to examine them. Would very much know what you would think before you could even think about it (sometimes he has his friend, the wind, tell him about it, what a weirdo right), and he would call you out in a way that would not be too direct, sometimes, it would even take you a while to realize that he was trying to communicate to you something and he would just be very patient about it.
“Dove, I think you have something on your neck,” he’d probably say, and you’d stiffen as you thought he caught on to your act… but he’d just flash you a sweet smile as he raises… a leaf.
A fucking leaf.
Where in Teyvat did that even come from?!
“I suppose even nature loves the feeling of your skin, my love.”
Nope! He definitely has you all figured out and is just trying to make your skin crawl… well, two can play the game, right?
┌───────── · · · · ꒰⚘݄꒱₊
KAEYA would know what a love bite would look like, especially when it’s from him and on you.
And this one on you? Well, it doesn’t even look like a hickey.
Ah, he would think, he gets it now.
One look was all it took for him to find out, and one look was all it took for you to find out what was in his mind as well. With this, you would begin to think of ways to try and not let him get you alone, but you soon realized that even if you two were with friends or in a public setting, this man would not stop at anything… to tease you back.
“What is it, dear? Don’t tell me… you’re giving up now, are you? Come on, you have my whole attention. What is it that you want from me?”
┌───────── · · · · ꒰⚘݄꒱₊
CHILDE would also very much know what his hickey looks like—and this one is definitely not his!
Actually, he did not even notice just how much you botched this fake hickey because he was already marching his way toward you.
“Babe, you’re coming with me,” he thought he was smooth as he ushered you out of the Bank, his subordinates following your forms before whispering about the mark on your neck once you two were out of reach.
Oh, how many people you fooled that day.
“What is the meaning of thi—” he immediately stops on his tracks as he finally realizes once he was this close to you and once he had focused on how it doesn’t really look like a love bite at all and how idiotic he probably looks and sounds right now.
Your laugh suddenly resonates through the walls of his office, even playfully slapping his shoulder as he purses his lips into a pout and narrows his eyes at you, crossing his arms over his chest.
“I won this time, babe, sorry not sorry,” you flash him a grin and he could not help but melt at how angelic you look right now despite the looming defeat he had.
┌───────── · · · · ꒰⚘݄꒱₊
AYATO was quite certain of his absence. It cannot be blamed on the nature of his position and his work, however, it was still irresponsible of him to neglect his lover. And thus, he was actually in the middle of a plan for his surprise for you a few days from now–to at least make it up for the lost time due to the work he had taken over these past few days.
At first, he thought his eyes were deceiving him. Surely that mark on your neck, just a few inches below your jaw is not a love bite… right? He was fairly sure that he had been away for the past nights prior to tonight, so…
“My dear, do you not feel like your neck feels lonely these days?” he’d ask in a smooth voice, then pulling out a box behind him, revealing a gift that encased a gorgeous necklace that you were pretty sure cost a lot.
You failed to answer or say anything at all, baffled at how easily he had gotten you speechless and to forget about the prank you had set up for him–wait, has he not seen it yet? You’d question yourself, surely, he could have, right?
“So, would you like to explain to me why there is a fake love bite on your skin? Darling? Perhaps you’d like to see what a real one looks like.”
┌───────── · · · · ꒰⚘݄꒱₊
AL-HAITHAM is another self-aware man, at least, that’s what he thinks he is. If you had been with him for a long time or at the very least knew him as much, you would know just how much of a lie that is. After all, Al-Haitham is a very dense guy. He may be aware that he had been busy the past few days, but his thoughts do not wander toward how you might feel because of this.
“Is there… something I am missing?”
He asks with a tilt of his head to the side, probably looking at you up and down and… something just seems… odd.
“What?” You raised a brow as you felt your face heat up—did he see it? Questions rose to your mind as you can’t help but also feel embarrassed with what you’re doing right now.
He doesn’t notice it!?!
“Ugh, never mind!” You walk out of the room, and unbeknownst to you, he is mumbling on his own before he settles his eyes on his book once more.
“That mark… did I make that?”

“your nose is running again.”
you shoot a glare at alhaitham’s reflection in your vanity, swiping at your nose and clearing your throat a few times before croaking, “it is not.”
“tch.” he has the audacity to look unimpressed with your lie, fiddling with the collar of the nice shirt you’d practically wrestled him into for tonight. “this happens every year, i don’t know why you keep trying to deny it.”
“there’s nothing to deny, because i’m a doctor and we don’t—” you pause, face scrunching when you feel a sneeze trying to fight its way out of your system. “— get sick.”
so what if your throat was scratchy and your entire face felt hot with sinus pressure? one could claim it was allergies, not sickness.
taking a seat to pull on his shoes, alhaitham only scoffs disbelievingly at you. he’s acting so smug, and maybe that’s because last week you’d ignored his warning about how cold nighttime in the desert got. or maybe because you refused to take the vitamin c tablets he put beside your coffee each morning because their texture was like that of chalk.
before he can open his mouth and say these things, the sneeze you’d been fighting takes you by surprise. you immediately turn away and lift your elbow, sneezing into it not once, not twice, but five times in quick succession.
(okay, so maybe you were feeling a little under the weather.)
you turn away from the dresser with a sharp look in your eye, just daring him to let slip the i told you so that always seemed to be sitting on the tip of his tongue.
instead, you feel his fingers tugging at the laces of your dress and his lips pressing softly against your forehead. (too warm, you swear he murmurs.)
“we don’t have to go if you aren’t feeling well. nilou will understand. do you really want to be fighting a cold while you’re surrounded by a group of your friends—”
“our friends,” you correct with a sniffle.
he ignores you. “who are going to make you—”
“make us.”
“—endure cake and small talk?”
you roll your eyes. for someone so fearsome, your husband really could be quite dramatic, brought to his knees by something as simple as cake and small talk.
“we missed her performance last month because we were stuck with work, so we’re not missing her birthday.” you turn around to shove lightly at his shoulder. “and don’t think you can use my cold as an excuse to get out of this party.”
alhaitham pulls back to look down at you with an irritating combination of a scoff and a smirk on his lips. “ah, so you finally admit that you have a cold? maybe if you’d taken the vitamin c for your immunity like someone suggested...”
“those supplements taste like shit, haitham,” you cough, expression pinching as you recall the disgusting tablets that you’ve called ‘not as good as the real thing.’ “the only vitamin c i like is in those mondstadt imported sunsettias...”
“you’re like a child,” he scolds. “now get undressed and back in bed before—”
“undressed?” you question, swatting his hands away from your dress. “i’m going to the party.”
“no, you’re not.”
“what if i—”
“no.”
“but darling—”
“sorry, love, but you’re not going anywhere tonight,” he decides, ignoring your quiet grumbles of protest. “i know you don’t get sick often, but when you do it hits you pretty hard.”
he leaves the room briefly at that, returning with something sitting in his palm.
you shake your head, holding your hands out to keep him back. “no. no! that stuff is worse than the vitamin c.”
“huh, if you’d taken that, then maybe you could have avoided this.” he hums, unscrewing the lid and letting that disgustingly sweet, syrupy scent flood the room. it was so potent that even you clogged sinuses could pick it up. “perhaps, doctor, one of these years you’ll learn to take your own advice. or perhaps listen to your husband’s…”
you lean backwards when he reaches for your chin. “haitham, if you make me drink that i will call the general mahamatra on you.”
“go ahead, he doesn’t scare me.”
he tries again, only for you to side-step his hand. “take your damn medicine!”
“you’re not supposed to yell at a sick person!”
“i’m not yelling. i’m simply insisting because you are being childish.”
maybe you were being childish, but that medicine was just so damn gross. “can i at least go down and say hi to everyone?” you try. “it’s been so long since i’ve seen them all.”
“fine, but only for ten minutes. and you have to take your medicine first.”
“but it always makes me sleepy,” you argue. “then you’ll be there enduring cake and small talk all by yourself.”
“it’s a birthday party, not a war. i think i’ll survive.”
you scowl at him, snatching the bottle and taking a gulp of the bitter liquid. “yeah, yeah. just wait until a drunk kaveh gets his hands on you and i’m not there to save you.”
the medicine starts taking effect almost instantly. you make it eleven minutes on your own feet before you’re clinging to alhaitham’s arm and leaning heavily into his side, nose still leaking and throat still tickling.
by then, all it takes is a single, ‘you don’t look too well’ from tighnari to convince alhaitham to drag you up into nilou’s spare room and into bed.
too disoriented and drowsy to argue anymore, you thank him dazedly and reach out to pat his cheek before letting your eyes drift shut.
__________
you’re not too sure how long it’s been when you wakes, but when you pry your tired eyes open, there’s a tray of steaming food on your bedside table. the room is glowing and warm, the source being the flickering candle that alhaithm is reading his book under
he glances up when you shift in bed, closing his book. “feeling better?”
“‘m not leaking anymore,” you shrugs, rubbing at the tip of your nose. “how long was i out for?”
“a little over two hours,” he answers, taking a seat at your bedside and pressing a hand to your forehead. “you’re not as warm as before. the medicine must be working.”
“yeah, well i still feel gross,” you mutter, not wanting to give that disgusting concoction too much credit.
“you look it, too.”
“the akademiya scribe,” you mutter, swinging your legs over the edge of the bed. “charming as ever.”
he scoffs at that, scooping up the tray of food in one hand and offering you his other. “charming enough that the amurta darshan’s sage took my last name.”
“well, don’t let it get to your head,” you huff, taking his hand and letting him pull you to your feet. his thumb strokes your wedding band as he guides you to sit on a fur rug positioned in front of the fire. “pretty hard to say no to a guy that practically begs you to marry him.”
“it was not begging—”
“haitham, dearest, that’s exactly what it was.”
you burst into a fit of giggles when he tells you to save it, his cheeks turning pink at the memory. your laughter quickly dissolves into a series of coughs, to which alhaitham pounds you on the back a little harder than necessary.
“alright, you had your fun,” he murmurs, picking up a bowl of soup. “you need to eat something. i made your favourite,” he dips the spoon into the bowl. “i already picked out the cabbage,” he adds when you open your mouth to complain.
unable to deny the slight rumble of your stomach, you reach for the spoon in his hand, pouting when he pulls it away. “i can feed myself,” you protest, voice hoarse from your coughing fit.
“the last time i let you feed yourself when you were sick, you sneezed and ended up throwing a spoonful of soup in my face,” he reminds you, the grim look on his face making it seem as if you’d stabbed him with the spoon instead. “open up.”
you narrow your eyes at the spoonful of soup. “it’s red,” you state. the original colour of recipe was a warm, almost translucent gold.
“good to know your eyes are still working.”
“haitham,” you groan. “you know i don’t handle spice as well as you.”
“it’ll help clear up your sinuses,” he reasons, though there’s something teasing twitching at the corner of his lips.
your body is wracked by another series of sneezes, each one stronger than the last, making him laugh.
“are you sure you’re done?” he teases, handing you a tissue.
“a good husband would just say, bless you,” you pout, blowing your nose and weakly tossing the soiled tissue at him.
defeated by a clogged nose and a smug husband, you reluctantly open your mouth and let him spoon-feed you the eye-wateringly spicy soup. it slides down your throat like fire, and it…kind of does help with your sinuses and throat.
you’d never admit that, though. it’s a new low you’ve discovered, a doctor taking medical advice from a semiotics major.
the universe always finds ways to keep us humble.
when the bowl is half-empty and alhaitham is convinced you’ve eaten enough, he sets the bowl aside and wraps a blanket around your shoulders before he goes. your eyes are drooping again, the result of a warm blanket enveloping you and a satisfied stomach.
he returns with a glass of water and a cool washcloth, gently pressing it to your forehead before situating himself behind you. “need anything else?”
letting yourself relax against his chest, you shake your head. his arms are warm around you, the steady sound of his heart and the soothing light of the candle slowly lulling you to sleep once more.
“shouldn’t you get back to the party?” you murmur sleepily. but you’re already snuggling against him, hands curling greedily into the soft material of his shirt to keep him close.
“not particularly. i’ve already greeted nilou and done my share of…small talk,” he explains quietly. his small sigh is heavy, his posture deflating slightly. it wasn’t that he disliked your shared friends or their company, it was just that his social battery ran out faster than others, and without you there to keep him afloat? two hours was more than enough for him.
“besides, i can’t exactly relax if i know that you’re up here positively suffering.”
“you’re teasing me, but fine, i’ll let you stay.”
no medicine or soup could do to you what a warm blanket and your annoying, teasing husband could for you, anyway.

Finals season was in full swing at Blackmore University, sending its students into poor sleep schedules and even worse diets as they attempted to cram a semester’s worth of information into their brains.
You and Tara, unfortunately, were no exception. For the past week, the two of you had holed yourselves up in either the library or one of your apartments, your noses stuck in your books and your hands fumbling around for an energy drink whenever you needed a pick-me-up.
The only time you had taken a break was to celebrate Tara’s 20th birthday, but even then it was hardly a celebration. You had gathered all of her friends at her apartment, had a small party consisting of drinks and movies, and then went right back to studying, Tara in tow.
Safe to say, the stress levels were at an all-time-high, especially for Tara, who was experiencing her first round of finals in university. You had offered her a few studying tips, since you had already gone through the struggles of freshman-year exams the year prior, before immersing yourself in your own revision.
You were in the midst of reviewing for your Romantic Literature course--the last final that you had for the semester--when your mother called you, leading you to slip out of Tara’s bedroom and into the hallway to speak to her.
Tara sat at her desk, grumbling as she tried to study for her Introduction to Literature course. This is just as stupid as it was when I was studying for the midterm, she thought, eyes scanning her notes about Emily Dickinson. Maybe it’s even more stupid now.
Your voice broke her concentration as you walked back into her room, and she twisted her chair around to face you. “Yeah, that sounds good. I’ll ask her, alright?” You rolled your eyes and pointed at your phone, mouthing, she talks so much. Tara giggled softly, extending her arms for you to stand between, and you sighed as you slid into place, her fingers rubbing over your hips. “Okay. Yup. Yeah, okay. Yeah. Right. Okay, bye, mom.”
“What was that all about?” Tara asked when you hung up, throwing your phone onto her desk. “Did Eddie pull another prank on the Dylan Thomas statue again?”
You chuckled, thinking about the photo that your brother had sent you the week before—he had put a wig, makeup, and a shaving-cream beard on the statue of your grandfather’s late friend. “No, no. The statue garden has gone untouched this week.”
She shook her head, a grin on her face. “I still can’t believe you guys have a statue garden,” she said. But of course her family does. Because why wouldn’t they?
“Well, my dad’s always been big into statues. Like, when he was younger, he--” You cut yourself off. “That’s not important. Anyway, my mom invited us to spend Christmas at the house.” Tara’s eyes lit up, a type of joy that she didn’t know existed rushing through her. Us? she thought. I’ve been invited to family Christmas? “Do you want to go--”
“Yes!” she exclaimed immediately, nodding her head fervently. “Please, yes.” Shit, I’ll need to buy presents. What the hell do you get for kids who could buy anything they’ve ever wanted?
You giggled at her enthusiasm and tilted your head. “Are you sure you and Sam aren’t going back to California for the holidays?” you asked.
Back to California? Back to…Woodsboro? She furrowed her eyebrows, biting her bottom lip. “Why would we go to Cali?”
You squirmed a little where you stood. What’s she so nervous about? she wondered. “I just thought you might want to see your mom?” Your voice pitched on the last word, and Tara tensed, her arms falling to her sides. You frowned and reached out, but she pulled back, swallowing.
“No, there’s--we’re not--no,” she stammered out, her voice short. She shook her head. “I’ll be here.”
You nodded. “Okay.”
Tara wanted the conversation to be over, but your lips were pursed like you still had something you wanted to say. “What?” she asked.
You shook your head. “Nothing!”
She clenched her jaw and narrowed her eyes at you. “No, you look like you have something to say. What?”
“I just…you’ve never spoken about her. Maybe we could--”
That’s because there’s nothing to say.” She’s good for nothing, she thought. “I don’t like to talk about her.” I’d rather read Shakespeare, which is really saying something.
“But--”
“No.” Her voice was stern, clear-cut, and she watched as you deflated a little, your eyes flitting around the room. She sighed, running a hand down her face. “I’m not doing this right now, okay? I’m not talking about her.”
“Tar…” The nickname came out as a coo, soft and careful and meant to be comforting, but it ignited a strange irritation beneath Tara’s skin, and something in her snapped.
“Listen, we can’t all have a perfect-fucking-family, okay?” she shouted, and you flinched, taking a step back, your eyes widening at her sudden outburst. “Just because you have parents who are there and who care doesn’t mean everyone does! I mean, Jesus, my mom didn’t even come to see me last year after--” After Amber stabbed me half-to-death, she finished in her head.
The air was tense, quiet. You stood in front of her, worrying your bottom lip between your teeth, and Tara cursed herself when she noticed that your hands were trembling slightly.
“Baby…” She reached out for you, but her fingers met open air as you shook your head and crossed the room to grab your things from her bed.
“It’s fine. I--I shouldn’t have pushed,” you rushed out, your voice shaking. You threw your notebook and laptop into your backpack hastily before hurrying to the door. Tara stood, desperate to do something to stop you from leaving, but she didn’t get the chance as you said, “I’m sorry.” Of course she’d apologize when I snapped at her. “I’ll see you later, yeah?”
The door shutting behind you pulled all the air from Tara’s lungs, and she fell back into her chair, holding her face in her hands.
“God fucking damnit,” she groaned. “Stupid, stupid, stupid.”
* * *
Hours later--during which Tara had sat in her bed and moped--there was a knock on her bedroom door. For a brief second, she thought it was you. But there would be no reason for her to come back after I got mad at her, she reminded herself, and any hope she had disappeared when Sam walked into the room, a frown on her face.
“I thought Y/N was staying for dinner so you two could study through it,” Sam said, bringing Tara’s attention right back to the fact that you had left. She stepped into the room, her arms crossed over her chest, and asked, “What happened? You’re all”--she gestured at Tara--“sad.”
Tara huffed, glaring at her sister. “Nothing,” she grumbled.
Sam scoffed. “Oh, please. You and Y/N have been attached at the hip since the start of finals.” She shook her head. “Scratch that--since you two began dating. So, what happened, Tara?”
Stupid Sam, being a good older sister. Tara sighed and relented. “She asked about mom.”
“Oh.” Sam frowned. “And what did you say?”
“I--” Was a bad girlfriend and got mad at her for no reason, Tara thought, shame seeping into her veins. “I snapped at her. I didn’t mean to. It’s just…mom’s a tough topic, and it’s even harder because Y/N’s family-life is so perfect.” She clenched her jaw and glanced away, ignoring the spark of jealous lighting in her chest. “She’s got two parents who are there, and they have money, and she’s just…” Perfect.
Sam tilted her head, walking over and sitting beside Tara. “You know, it wasn’t easy for me to tell Danny about mom, either. He’s in the same boat as Y/N--well, not the super rich family part, but his parents are together and there.” She shrugged. “It’s hard not to envy that, but she’s your girlfriend, so you’ll need to talk to her about mom at some point. She deserves to know.”
Tara nodded, hanging her head. “I know. I feel horrible for getting upset with her.” She gestured lamely at her phone. “I tried texting and calling her, but…” She pointed across the room, where your phone still sat on her desk. “Obviously that didn’t work.”
Sam hummed. “I’m sure it’ll be fine, Tara. Maybe she just needed a minute.” She rested her hand on Tara’s shoulder. “Plus, she’ll need her phone.”
“What if she comes back and breaks up with me?” Tara asked, looking up at Sam with wide eyes. What if she never speaks to me again? she thought. What if this is it? What if--
“Every couple has arguments, Tara.” Sam smiled softly at her. “She’s not going to break up with you over this. That girl’s head over heels for you, even more than you are for her. It’s gonna be okay, okay?”
Tara bit the inside of her cheek. “Yeah, okay,” she said, not missing the sorrow in her own voice. “Thanks.”
“Of course.” Sam stood, her hands on her hips and her head tilted. “Now, should we get Chinese food or pizza?”
* * *
Sam was right: you did just need a minute.
It was as Tara was getting ready for bed that she heard a knock on the front door. Sam’ll deal with it, she decided as she climbed beneath her sheets, ready to lay in the darkness and wallow for a while. Just as she was reaching over to turn off her bedside lamp, a certain name caught her attention.
“Oh, hi, Y/N!” Sam said loudly from the living room, and Tara knew she had raised her voice so that she would know who was at the door. She sat up immediately. Y/N is here? What? There was some mumbling before Sam’s voice came again. “Yeah, she’s in her room. Go ahead.”
Moments later, there were soft knocks against her bedroom door, and Tara scrambled out of her bed, rushing across the room to open the door for you. There you stood, your lips pulled in a downturned smile and your eyes wide with worry.
“Hey, pretty girl,” you muttered. You were still wearing the same clothes from the day, and your backpack was still hanging off your shoulders. Did she not go home? she wondered, furrowing her eyebrows. You pulled your arm out from behind you, revealing a small bouquet of flowers. “Got you these.”
Tara blinked. She bought me flowers?!  “I--Thanks?” She took them from your outstretched hand. “What are you doing here?”
“I said I’d see you later, didn’t I?” you tried to joke, but your voice was strained, like you were trying to be careful, and Tara felt guilt prick at her knowing that she was the cause. “Could I come in?”
“Oh, yeah. Of course. Always,” she rushed out, moving to her bed to sit. She placed the flowers on her bedside table and watched as you sat in front of her, fingers playing with her blanket. “So, what’s up?” ‘What’s up?’ Really? That’s the best I can do?
You sighed, a shaky breath falling from your lips. “I want to apologize,” you said. “I didn’t mean to push you into talking about your mom earlier. I know she’s a touchy subject.”
Tara frowned. “Why are you apologizing? I’m sorry for shouting at you. I shouldn’t have done that.”
You shook your head, glancing up and finally making eye-contact with her. “No, it’s okay. You didn’t want to talk about her. And, that’s okay.” You shrugged and offered her a comforting smile. “You don’t have to tell me about her…ever, if you don’t want to.”
“I should, though. I mean, we should talk about her.”
“Tara, you really don’t have to--”
“No, I--I want to.” Want’s a strong word, she thought. But I should.
“Okay,” you said, nodding and giving her your full attention. “You have the floor.”
She sighed heavily. “Well, my dad left when I was 8. My mom started working more so that she could afford Sam and I, but it turned more into an obsession for her, I think. Next thing I knew, she was never there. Sam left home when I was 13, and it was just me.” She shrugged, glancing down and fiddling with her fingers. “Then, Sam came back after I was attacked, and my mom wouldn’t talk to her, so we made the choice to cut her off. I haven’t spoken to her since we moved.”
Tara clicked her tongue, looking back up at you. To her surprise, your face wasn’t full of the pity she was used to seeing after telling people about her past; you were watching her carefully, looking close to tears.
“So, that’s that,” she said awkwardly.
You inhaled sharply, blinking your glassy eyes away. “You didn’t deserve any of that, Tar, and I’m sorry that you had to deal with it.” You reached out, your hand cupping her cheek, and she leaned into your touch. “I’m so happy that you’ve found your family.”
Her heart fluttered at your words, her mind flashing to Sam and Mindy and Chad. “Yeah,” she agreed. “I am, too. I really love those guys.” And I’ve found you, too, she thought. You make it all complete.
You grinned, and she practically melted into her mattress. “Good. They’re good--all of them.”
She giggled. “C’mere.” She wrapped her arms around your shoulders and pulled you to lay down with her, your face nuzzled into her neck. She laughed at the feeling of your nose against her skin, and said, “I love you. Like, a lot.”
Your arms wrapped around her waist, and you squeezed lightly. “I love you, like, a lot, too.” You sighed into her. “And I’m sorry for leaving like that earlier. I just…I don’t do well with raised voices.”
Huh? Suddenly, she was on high alert. Why not? What happened? “Any particular reason?”
You twisted in her hold so that you could lay beside her, your gaze trained on the ceiling. She scooted down so that her head was level with yours and looked at you, tracing your side profile with her eyes. So pretty, she thought. Wait, stay on topic, Tara.
You clenched your jaw. “We’ve never talked about it, but, um, my dad…” You closed your eyes. “When I was younger, my dad had a big drinking problem.” Her eyebrows furrowed. Her dad? That man? Really? “He was never physical,” you said, shaking your head lightly. “But he had a temper when he was drunk, and everything I did was always wrong.”
“Oh, Y/N,” she sighed, intertwining her fingers with yours. Your grip was tight, like she would float away if you didn’t hold on.
“He’d yell a lot, at me, at my mom.” Oh, baby. Your thumb rubbed over the skin of her hand. “But he’s good now. He got better after the boys were born--got sober. He hasn’t had a drink since.” You turned your head, looking back at her.
“He’s not, like, obsessed with apples, or anything,” you said. What does that have to do with the conversation? she wondered. “But, he eats them a lot when we have parties. That was his thing--eat an apple when he wanted a drink. It stuck, so we keep the fridge stocked, and any time someone sees him even look in the direction of alcohol, we get him an apple.” You smiled. “He eats them begrudgingly, but he’ll never have an apple out of his own volition now.”
Tara chuckled softly. “I’m happy he’s better now, but I’m sorry you dealt with that. I’m sure it wasn’t easy.”
You shrugged, leaning closer so that your forehead rested against her cheek. “It’s okay now. I’m alright,” you promised. “Just…never buy that man an apple, alright?” you joked, easing the tension in the air.
“Deal,” she agreed, nudging your head up. She leaned in, kissed you, and said, “I guess no family’s perfect after all, huh?” when she pulled away.
“I guess not.” You grinned, leaning up on your elbow to hover over her. “But, maybe ours could be the first.”
Her heart practically stopped, and she couldn’t help the smile that took over her face. Ours? she thought. She felt like she wanted to burst from the amount of joy that came with that thought. Yeah. Ours.
“Okay.” She pushed herself up and kissed you again. “Ours will be the first.”

“Ready to go?” Chigiri asks, coming inside to assess the situation. He looks at your enormous suitcase and several travel bags before looking back at you with a quirked brow. You look away from him quickly, pretending something on your phone has caught your attention. “You know we’re only going for a week, right?”
“I want to be prepared!”
“It’s crazy,” he laughs, “because I know that somehow you’re gonna come home with more things than you left with.”
“Not true! Your birthday presents are in here!” you smile, shaking the large gift bag in your hand. He tries to take it from you to peak at what’s inside, but you move it out of his reach.
He pouts.
You pout harder.
“Fine, I’ll carry the heavy suitcase. Even though it’s my birthday week.”
“Thank you Chigs~!”
“Don’t call me that~!” he repeats in your sing-song voice.
You laugh, picking up another bag and carrying it to the car. You load them into the back before rushing into your house again and getting the last few bags. He takes them for you, allowing you to lock the door. If you’d had more warning, you definitely would have gotten a house sitter. But you’re trying not to worry about that, you just want to get on the road and leave all of your worries behind.
Worries, including your family. The family who are less than impressed that you’re abandoning them to spend a boozy week with friends instead of them. You don’t care, though. You delivered their gifts and wished them well.
It’s stupid, really, that they’re so frustrated that you won’t be spending time with them. You can’t stomach spending time with your dad and his new girlfriend. He knows you can’t control your face and you say the first thing that comes to your mind.
You inherited that from him.
Your mother however, was devastated when you told her. You figured she’d be okay since she has a larger family to spend the holidays with. But you’re her only child, you suppose you are being a little selfish.
It’s something you have to do though, you feel. You’re not over Rin and you don’t want to spend Christmas with family grieving what should have been you and him spending the day together. This way, you get to actually have fun. It’s not forced or superficial to keep up appearances for your relatives.
No one is going to expect anything of you at the cabin.
“I’m proud of you,” Chigiri smiles, looking at you briefly before focusing back on the road. You scoff, turning the radio up in the car, Mariah Carey blasting through the speakers. You both groan before he hands you the aux cord. “Not in a cringe way. I just mean, I know you’re a people pleaser. So I’m impressed that you put yourself over your parents.”
“Ugh, they were both so disappointed in me. I spent thousands on presents for them both. I even got some toys for my stepdad’s ratty step-kids. What more can I do?”
“God they are ratty.”
“They’re giving Damien from The Omen.” you tell him, both of you laughing loudly as one of your playlists plays softly through the speaker. You turn it up a little, both of you whooping as you hear Boss Bitch by Doja Cat play. “I know I was shitting myself when Sae texted, but I’m so glad we’re doing this.”
“Me too, I was dreading spending my birthday with your miserable ass.” he chuckles and you slap his arm lightly. “Wait! I know you’re still down about Rin, so, this will be a fun distraction. Plus I bet you end up hooking up with one of Sae’s friends, you haven’t had your rebound yet.”
“I am not doing another footballer, I can’t.” you shake your head.
You both laugh lightly and carry on chatting about the events to come. It’s like a weeklong party, essentially. And ever since you’ve known Chigiri, you’ve both loved a party. But it’s never actually the party itself.
The days before a party are always the best. Whether you’re hosting or attending, it’s always exciting. A theme is always ideal but not essential. Either way, you’ll spend weeks talking about it. Who’s going? What will you wear? What are you gonna drink?
You go on numerous shopping trips and buy endless amounts of clothes until you find the perfect outfit. Only to wear it that night and never again. But it’s worth it, every time. Hearing people compliment how gorgeous you look never gets old.
No one’s words meant more to you than Rin’s, though. The way he’d rest his hand in the small of your back while showing you off made you feel like a princess. He’d whisper sweet nothings about how you’re the most beautiful girl he’s ever seen and the things he wanted to do to you when you got home. It made your legs weak and your face flush with heat. And yet, he was always so calm. So cool. He liked to rile you up and pay you no mind as you look up at him expectantly. Acting as if he hadn’t said something so salacious and lewd while chatting with guests.
It drove you wild.
But, truthfully, where your best friend is concerned, your favourite part of a party is the morning after. If he spent the night at your place, especially. You’d wait for him to message you to let you know he’s awake and leave Rin’s side while he was snoring softly. Hyoma can’t handle his drink, and you’re no better. You’d crawl into bed with him and burrow under the duvet after handing him some water and painkillers.
Hungover or not, though, you loved gossiping with him. You’d trade stories about what happened throughout the night and things you heard. It made your day; it made the hangover worth it.
And now, you’re driving towards a week’s worth of that.
You groan as the song changes from Doja Cat to Lust for Life by Lana Del Rey.
“Nope!” he objects, “What kind of psychopath has Doja and Lana on the same playlist?” Chigiri asks, skipping the song. You throw your head back against the headrest, sighing as you think about Rin, again.
The album featuring the eponymous song is one of the first gifts Rin gave you. In vinyl form, of course, along with a pink record player. You had a record player already, but you told him a few times that you’d always wanted a pink one. It was a birthday gift, you remember crying so much as you unwrapped it.
“And I thought we could listen to this together.” you reminisce on him telling you as he handed the album to you. You told him you’d never listened to it before when you were going through her discography. It was a throwaway comment you didn’t think he’d even remember.
You cried listening to the self-titled song, wrapped up in his arms as he held you close. Truthfully, you’ve never felt so loved. And unfortunately, you don’t think you will again. You told him, repeatedly, how in love with him you were.
He couldn’t keep his hands off you after that.
“I need to make a new playlist.” you sigh, Chigiri nods, agreeing. “You’re right, Doja and Lana on the same playlist is psycho behaviour.”
“And you’re only just realising this?” he laughs again.
“I bet he’s got a new girlfriend now. Girls always threw themselves at him, even when we were together.” you tell him. “Oh my God, I miss him. I miss him so much I feel sick. I can’t do this.”
“Shut up.” he tells you, sternly, “I haven’t seen anything on his socials about a girlfriend, but that’s none of your business anymore anyway.”
“You’re still on his socials?”
“… anyway…”
“You know how private he is, Hyoma. If he’s seeing someone he wouldn’t post about her.”
“He posted you.” he reminds you, and you shrug defeatedly. “Besides, you broke up with him. You ended things and you’re still heartbroken. Imagine how depressed he probably is. He’s a workaholic, too. He’s probably distracting himself with work, not girls.”
Hyoma always knows what to say. Deep down, you knew that. But you never would have thought about it until he said. It was a miracle that he even asked you out, after all. His friends never failed to tell you how surprised they were. He’s too focused on football to bother with girls.
But you… you were different.
“You’re self-sabotaging, idiot.” Chigiri tells you. “We’ll get there, we’ll have fun, and you won’t think about Rin at all. I’m banning Rin talk for the rest of the week.”
“Fine fine fine.” you relent, shaking your body in an attempt to dispel any further thoughts of your ex. Though, to be honest, Sae might make it hard to not think about or discuss him. He’s his brother, after all. You can’t expect him to not talk about his little brother. And you certainly can’t ask him not to. “You’re gonna love the cabin. It’s huge. And there’s a lake we can ice skate on.”
“Perfect, can’t wait.”
Tumblr media
There are several cars parked outside as you pull up. Chigiri parks, but is frozen in place as he looks at the cabin. It’s clear that the place is not what he expected. You end up leaving him alone to process his thoughts as he drinks it in. It’s the closest he’ll get to feeling like a celebrity, he suspects.
He follows you out, rushing to help you lift your suitcase as you struggle under the weight of it. You smile, gratefully, as he drags it towards the cabin. You decide to pick up his much smaller suitcase as well as all of your other bags. It isn’t hard to keep up with him as he struggles to pull your luggage through the snow.
“This isn’t a cabin. I was expecting a log shack with a few amenities. This is a mansion.” Chigiri tells you as you walk by his side. You giggle, agreeing, you felt exactly the same way the first time you came here with Rin.
You walk up the stairs ahead of him and knock on the door, starting to shiver as the biting winter air begins to attack you.
Chigiri manages to get your suitcase to the top of the stairs before anyone even knows you’ve knocked. He’s cold, tired, and impatient, and decides to ring the doorbell. You can both hear music playing inside.
It gets louder once the door swings open, and you see a familiar face.
“Oh hey, are you the little sister?” Oliver asks, forgetting that you’ve met before. You assume that’s how Sae has been referring to you as when talking to his friends, so, you nod. He smiles at Chigiri and takes your heavy suitcase from him, lifting it with ease as he welcomes you in. “They’re all in the lounge, grab yourselves a drink from the kitchen.” he tells you, winking as he sets down your case with all of the others at the bottom of the stairs.
There’s a lot of luggage, though the amount seems to double when you and Chigiri put the rest of yours down. You aren’t sure how many people must be here, but the nerves are setting in.
“She’s cute!” you hear Oliver tell the group as he goes into the lounge, it’s quiet, but you hear it clearly.
“You’ve met her before, idiot.” you hear Sae tell him, his voice getting closer to you as he comes to greet you. “Hey you.” he smiles, hugging you and placing a soft kiss on your cheek. You hug him back, feeling surprisingly calmer as you allow yourself to melt into his embrace.
You aren’t sure why, but you were worried he’d be weird with you when he saw you in person. This is only the second time you’ve seen him since you and Rin split, after all. The first was a coffee date to explain your side of things face to face. You’re happy you decided to keep in contact with Sae, he’s been so sweet and supportive through it all.
So, really, you aren’t sure why you expected him to be off with you.
Especially since he invited you here.
“Nice to meet you, man.” Sae smiles at Chigiri, holding his hand out to shake, which he does. “Your birthday is on the 23rd, yeah? We’ll plan something fun.”
“Being here is fun enough, don’t worry.” Hyoma responds, looking around. “This isn’t a cabin, by the way.” he laughs.
Sae laughs too, walking back towards the lounge. “Come meet everyone.” he insists. You and Chigiri look at each other, but follow.
You’re the only girl here, by the looks of things. You aren’t sure if that’ll change or not though. Maybe they all have partners who are arriving together later. You’re a little surprised by the headcount, you were expecting more. Including Sae, there’s only four of them sitting around the fire, drinking together.
“Apparently we’ve met before?” Oliver’s brows knot in contemplation, and you nod. “Sorry, sweetheart. Normally I don’t forget a pretty face.”
“Yeah ya do, bullshitter.” Tabito snickers, looking up at you from his seat on the floor. You’ve never met Karasu, but you’ve heard a lot about him. Mostly from Rin about when they used to play together. And you may or may not have stalked his socials before, so you’re familiar with his face. “Nice to meet’cha, heard a lot about you.”
“Likewise.” you smile.
“Do you smoke?” you hear another voice speak as you get further into the room. Your eyes lie on Eita Otoya as he pulls a blunt from behind his ear, and you shake your head. You’re surprised to see them letting loose like this, though you suppose they mustn’t get the chance to often.
Rin found it hard to relax and unwind. He’s always been so career focused, never wanting to do anything to harm his reputation. And you understand that, you do. You’re the same, really. You have an image to maintain, people seem to think being a model is just turning up and looking pretty. But you take it seriously, like Rin.
Though he doesn’t seem to know how to turn it off.
“No Ryusei?” you ask, a little surprised he couldn’t make it.
“Not yet, he should be here soon.” Sae assures you. You laugh, knowing you’re in for a really fun week once Shidou gets here. Sae turns back to look at you, taking you back to the entrance. “I’ll show you to your rooms. Did you want to share? There’s enough for everyone to have their own.”
“She snores, I’ll take my own.” Hyoma tells Sae, earning a smirk from him. You try to argue, but your best friend seems to be too convincing. The rest of the guys join you, offering to help with your bags and carry them up to your room.
And, really, who are you to say no?
Chigiri rolls his eyes, carrying his own case and entering the room Sae had planned for him. You realise Sae is sleeping in the master bedroom downstairs when you see all of the other rooms have been claimed by sneakers and jackets from the other guests, all of them are just too lazy to bring their luggage up.
Though none of them had a problem helping with yours.
Your heart sinks when you realise Sae saved your usual room for you to take. The room you always shared with your ex whenever he brought you here. The guys don’t give you much time to feel sorrowful, though. Not when they’re laughing and joking beside you. Sae notices your forlorn expression, pulling you aside slightly.
“I thought you’d feel comfortable in here, but we can switch if you want.” he tells you, but you shake your head. “Ryusei will be in the opposite room so I’m sure you won’t be thinking about anything other than how annoying he is.” he smiles.
“Thank you, Sae.” you smile, albeit a little weakly. It’s bittersweet, that’s all. “At least I have the best view.” you tell him, opening the doors to the large balcony that looks over the lake. You think about how the nearby town’s lights twinkle at night.
“Right.” he puts a sympathetic hand on your shoulder. “Everyone out, let’s leave her to unpack.” Sae announces, ushering the other three men out of the room.
You smile, waving at them all as they leave. Once they’re out, Sae closes the door behind himself and leaves you alone with your thoughts. As much as you want to sit and dwell on things, you decide to occupy your mind and unpack instead.
You’re startled, a little, when Chigiri comes in to see you. Though you’re relieved when he starts to help.
“You did not need to bring all of this.” he grabs a gold glittery mini stress and holds it up. “I— I’ve never seen this in my life. Oh my God, did you buy new clothes for this? You are trying to get a rebound.”
“No I’m—”
“Yeah, you are.” he stops you immediately. “I’ve been stalking all of their socials in my room, they’re all single. And they all had their tongues hanging out for you when you came in.”
“You work too fast.” you laugh. He shrugs, grabbing a few items of clothing and hanging them up in the wardrobe for you.
You’re thankful for his help, it goes a lot quicker than it would have otherwise. Plus you get to gossip about the week ahead. You try and dodge his questions, but your facial expressions always give you away. You have quite a good poker face, but it doesn’t matter when it comes to Chigiri. He has a way of making you shy and giggly when you’re trying to keep a secret.
“Which one?” he asks, and you tut. “I feel like they’re all your type.” he tells you, handing you your toothbrush to take to the ensuite.
“They are.” you laugh from the other room. You return, zipping up your case and pushing it away. “I’ve always had the hots for Ryusei low key though, but I think Rin would be livid.”
“Rin isn’t here and he’s not our problem.” Chigiri smiles. You both sit on top of your bed and flop backwards with a sigh. He turns his head to the side to look at you while you’re too busy disassociating, staring at the ceiling. “Don’t just do it because you feel like you have to, by the way.”
“What do you mean?” you ask. “Oh, rebound.”
He nods, “We’re here to have fun. So, if you’re going to fuck one of them, do it because it’s fun.”
“I won’t.” you agree. “I’m worried about feeling guilty too… they’re Rin’s friends, after all. I don’t want to upset him.”
As Chigiri is about to respond, he’s stopped by the sound of the doorbell ringing. You smile, widely, when you realise Ryusei is here. Hyoma knows all about Ryusei. His feral replacement whenever Rin used to take you around the world for his away games.
Hyoma isn’t jealous, of course. Especially when he knew you had a little crush on Ryusei. You and Hyoma have only ever been friends, and you’ll never be closer to anyone than you are with each other.
“Should we wait a few minutes so I don’t look desperate?” you ask, sitting upright and resting your bodyweight on one hand as you look down at him.
“Yeah.” he nods.
You nod too. You start lying back down, slowly, looking around at the room as you do. “I can’t.” you tell him, jumping off the bed and heading towards the door. He sighs, but hurries after you.
All of the guests are gathered in the entryway as they greet Ryusei. They exchange hugs and handshakes as they all chat and catch up. You descend the stairs slowly, but not fully, standing at the halfway point with Chigiri as you watch the scene unfold.
His bright smile turns to a look of wonder when he notices you. Eyes softening as he realises you’re here, you’re really here.
“No way…” he smirks, “Hey, kid, how are ya?”
“I’m good,” you nod, an embarrassingly wide smile on your face. “And you? How are you, Ryu?”
“Better for seeing you,” he laughs. “Didn’t know you were comin’.”
“Shut the door, man, it’s freezing.” Sae tells him, approaching to do it for him. But Ryusei stops him, keeping him at arm’s length so he can’t.
“I actually picked someone up on the way.” Ryusei announces, side stepping a little as he waits for the mystery guest to hurry. Chigiri’s eyes widen in horror, the realisation hitting him before anyone else as he looks at you. You’re too busy feeling deflated that Ryusei has brought a girl along with him.
“Oh no.” Chigiri speaks, and you look at him. “We should go back upstairs.”
“What? Why?” you ask him, confused. Though your attention is forced back downstairs when you see another figure enter the cabin out of your peripheral view.
Your heart sinks.
“Rin?” Sae asks as he watches his younger, yet for some reason taller, brother set down his suitcase.
Your heart keeps plummeting deeper through your body as you watch him, too. God, he looks even better than he did the day you ended things. He’s always been striking, beautiful. Just so God damn handsome. But he looks older, more mature.
You feel your breathing get heavier and more intense the longer you watch him. The way he dusts the snow from his expensive looking coat. And that familiar ruffle of his hair as he fixes it into place.
“You said you weren’t coming.” Sae tells him.
“I changed my mind,” Rin responds, gesturing to Ryusei. “He begged, really.”
Sae holds his eyes shut, sighing. Rin isn’t sure what the issue is. He was invited, after all, he just declined. He expected his brother to be happy to see him, he thought it would be a fun surprise. Though maybe he only invited him out of obligation.
Shidou hadn’t made it seem that way, though.
“Look who’s here.” Ryusei smiles, pointing up at you.
Rin’s weak smile drops to a stoic straight line as he follows his friends directional finger and his sights land on you. You’re frozen. You can’t smile. You can’t say hello. You can’t even wave. You’re just staring at each other, both absolutely paralysed with no idea how to act.
“H— Hi…” you struggle to speak. Hyoma is thankful you’re too distracted looking at Rin to see the way he’s cringing horrendously behind your back, but not showing his face to the lower floor.
“Hey.” Rin responds, even smiling a little when he hears your voice. It’s been so long, after all. “I didn’t know you were coming.” he explains.
“Same…” you tell him, hoping he believes you. “I wouldn’t have come if I knew you were coming. Wait—” you interrupt yourself when you realise how horrible that sounded.
“Stop talking.” Hyoma whispers, and you clear your throat.
Everyone else seems to see the funny side, all except Rin. He appears a little downtrodden, though he disguises it well. You know him, though. You’re sure he knows you didn’t mean it how it sounded, but you can’t help feeling a little guilty.
“You made it very clear you weren’t coming, Rin.” Sae tells him. “If you said you were coming I—”
“It’s fine. I didn’t know you were still talking, though.” Rin says, the annoyance in his voice very evident. You can’t tell if he’s purposefully trying to hurt you or if it’s just Rin being Rin. “But we’re adults. I’m sure we can co-exist for a week, right?” he asks, looking at you with his intense, teal gaze.
“R—Right…”

Pairings: Wanda maximoff x reader
Word count: 1595
Warnings: mentions of stoner Wanda, smut, Wanda has a dick, blowjobs, overstimulation, Dom/sub, mommy kink, think that’s all
Summary: When you arrive home late, breaking Wanda’s rule, she had to punish you
No one is permitted to steal, copy, or reblog my work as their own!!
Here you stood, staring at yourself in the mirror as you finished up the final touches to your makeup. You couldn’t lie, you looked good. A tight and silky red cloth laid over your body, it didn’t do a great job at covering your cleavage, but you loved it.
“Wanda! Can you help me put this necklace on?” You yelled out, the woman walked out of the bathroom and stopped in her tracks, staring at you with her lip in between her teeth. Her eyes landed upon your ass, moving closer to give it a harsh squeeze. You gasped, slapping her lightly but sternly on the shoulder. Her mouth landed on your neck, leaving love bites that made you hum in content. Her hand trailed under the fabric, grasping your inner thigh tightly.
“No panties? Is it my birthday or something?.” You moaned quietly when her fingers found themselves between your wet folds, rubbing gentle circles against your clit.
“Is this all for me?”
“No, it’s for my friend's birthday, the one I’ve been telling you about for the past week.” She paused, looking at you through the mirror and resting her head on top of yours. Her digits didn’t leave their spot, your juices coating her fingertips.
“Shit, I’m sorry, I forgot. I can go get dressed-” You cut her off before she could finish, shushing her with a finger to her lips.
“It’s alright, you don’t need to go. It might be best, you know how my friends feel about you.” You said, a hint of guilt in your tone. She sighed, it was obvious your friends weren’t the biggest fans of her, they didn’t like your dynamic. Wanda had always been known for her notorious acts, smoking weed, partying, drinking, just being a normal college student. You and your friends were different though. Student councils, the debate team, you were basically known as the goodie two shoes of the school. You never got in trouble, and if you did, it was because of Wanda. She often convinced you to skip class, party, basically do anything she wanted. You could never say no to that beautiful face of hers.
“You’re not going out dressed like that, at least not when I’m not there.” The way she spoke could’ve made you fall to your knees on the spot, but you weren’t in the mood for her games, you wanted to go to this party.
“Wanda, this is my best friend's party, I have to go! Look, I promise I’ll text you every hour so you know I’m safe. Besides, all of us are boring, we’re just going to have a few drinks and talk for a while.”
“But I don’t want you to leave, can’t you just stay home? With your girlfriend? I’m gonna be all lonely without you, baby.” She pouted, hoping you’d finally give in. You grabbed her hand, taking her digit covered in your slick up to your mouth. Your lips wrapped around it, your eyes fluttering shut as your muffled moan rang loudly in her ears. A popping sound could be heard as you let go, staring at her with doey eyes.
“Hmm, no.” You swayed your hips lightly as you left the room, saying one last goodbye before closing the door behind you.
It was nearing midnight when you finally got home, you promised Wanda you would be home by 11:00, you were fucked. You tiptoed over to your room, taking your heels off at the front door to limit the noise. Suddenly, a light turned on, illuminating the dark room.
“11:56,” She exaggerated each letter with a small pause. “I thought I told you to be home before eleven o’clock? Did I not?” You nervously chuckled, staring at the woman with some sort of hope she’d have remorse on you.
“Now, you deliberately broke my rules, and to top it all off, I see a photo of you sitting on that birthday chick's lap? Did she fuck you? Hm? Fucking tell me!” You shook your head faster than you thought was possible, gulping down your fears before speaking.
“N-no, she didn’t. We just wanted to take a photo, it was nothing more!” She got closer to you, something you didn’t know was possible, and wrapped her hand around your neck still littered with her marks.
“I bet you wanted her to though, didn’t you? You wanted that annoying mouth of hers all over you, over my cunt?” Her free hand went under your dress, cupping your heat like earlier.
“Did you not wear any panties for her? Or for me? Tell me baby, who owns you?” She whispered hotly against your lips, you had to fight the urge to lean in and capture yours together.
“You do, you own me Wanda.” She hummed, a large smirk taking over her face.
“And who owns this cunt? Who’s pussy is this?”
“You do! You own me Wanda, every part of me!” She nodded, wetting her lips as she stared down at you with hunger in her eyes. She gripped your arm and yanked you forwards, causing you to almost fall on the couch behind you.
“Strip. Now.” Were the only words that fell out of her mouth.
“But-” She cut you off, clearly tired of your bullshit.
“No! I gave you an order, you follow it. God, you really are trying to piss me off tonight, aren’t you.” Giving in, you did what she asked, staring directly at her as you removed your clothes. The dress was slowly peeled off, revealing your nude body. She eyed you up and down without shame, walking forward to place her hands on your hips.
“Fuck, still so damn sexy. You have no idea what you do to me baby, you make mommy so fucking hard.” She let out a small moan, placing your hand on her crotch where you found a large imprint.
“You feel that? That’s all from you, baby.” Your legs folded as you dropped to your knees, surprising the woman. Your fingers undid her pants, pulling them down as you looked at her with innocent eyes. Her boxers were revealed as you licked over the bulge ever so lightly, beating her at her own game.
“Mm, sweetheart, I need you to suck me off. Need your sweet little mouth.” Her head was shot back, the pleasure consuming her. The last piece of clothing was thrown to the small pile next to her, your hand wrapping itself around her almost immediately.
“Mommy, look at me when I jerk you off, look at your angel.” You pleaded. She looked down at you, using her palm to slap you on the cheek before stroking the now shaded red skin.
“Don’t tell me what to do, honey. I’ll watch you if I feel like it.” Apologizes left your mouth, your hand still continuing its motions. She replaced your palm with her own, slapping her throbbing length against your lips. You opened them slowly, letting the tip enter your mouth. Her pre-cum hit your tastebuds instantly, causing you to moan around her. She smiled devilishly before holding both sides of your head in her hands, making you bob up and down. Your own digits trailed up her legs, leaving goosebumps behind. Your fingertips tapped her balls lightly, grasping them in your hands as to cause her more pleasure. She couldn’t help herself, she forced your head further down on her cock, hitting the back of your throat as you gagged. Tears escaped your eyes at the feeling, no matter how many times you took her, you still found it difficult to deepthroat her.
“Shit! That’s it, gag on my fucking dick, cry for me you little bitch.” She loved the fact that you struggled to swallow all of her, it turned her on more than she could ever admit. Knowing that she was the biggest you’ve ever had, it just did things to her.
“You gonna soak my cock with your tears? You filthy whore, can’t even suck dick without mommy’s help.” You nodded around her, your eyes fluttering shut as her tip rammed against the back of your throat repeatedly.
She didn’t stop until she released, filling your mouth up with cum. And now, your legs were spread on the couch as she ate you out for the third time, not letting up even when you finished multiple times. You were overstimulated, she knew that too. And she loved it.
“Mommy!” You screamed as you came once more, panting heavily as you collapsed. Wanda let you relax for a moment, making you think you were finally done until her hands started prying you open once more. You whined, not ready to do this again.
“Mommy, no. I’m too sore!” She only laughed, she fucking laughed.
“Oh baby, you know I’m not stopping until you squirt in my mouth. Now, be a good girl and spread your legs for me, I won’t ask again.” You slowly complied, watching the territorial gaze she gave you before she dove back into your weeping cunt.
“Good girl, now shut your pretty ass up before I gag you.” Your eyes shut, her tongue running through your folds like an expert. You looked over to your side, seeing the small jar of weed she planned on smoking with you. If you just followed her rules, listened to her, you wouldn’t be here, your leg over her shoulder as she fucked you dumb. You wished you stayed home. But at the same time, you’re so fucking happy you went.

Trevor just stood there, his legs wouldn't move, no matter how badly he wanted them to. He wanted to run after you but he couldn't. From his frozen haze he saw Luke run out the door. That should be him running to you and he knew that.
"Everybody out! Party's over!" Jamie yelled. Everyone quickly walked out. Jamie looked over to Nico. “Can you make sure everyone who shouldn't be driving gets an Uber, I'll pay, I don’t even care anymore just please make sure everyone is safe and out of here." Nico nodded and left, dragging a still slightly drunk Jack with him. He would be no help to the conversation about to happen in the state he was in.  Now it was just Jamie, Quinn, and Trevor. Once the front door was shut Quinn forcefully turned Trevor around. He still looked shocked and a few tears had begun to run down his face.
"What the fuck is wrong with you?!" Quinn finally spoke up. Trevor opened his mouth to say something but no words came out.
"If you weren't my best friend I would beat the shit out of you," Jamie said through gritted teeth. "Do you have any idea what you’ve done?"
"She," Quinn pointed towards the door you had just walked out of, "is like a little sister to me and you just broke her heart in front of an entire party of random strangers." Quinn's voice was calm, too calm, it was frightening. "And you're not my best friend so I will gladly beat the shit out of you." He stepped forward but Jamie stopped him as Trevor finally spoke.
"I didn't mean for this to happen," he whispered.
"What do you mean?! You went into this whole thing knowing you had feelings for her."
"What thing?" Quinn interrupted.
"Do you wanna tell him?" Jamie crossed his arm. Trevor said nothing. "Are you really going to make me tell him?"
"We've been sleeping together," Trevor said softly. Quinn exhaled.
"How long?" He asked.
"Since my birthday," he paused, scared of how Quinn would react after he said his next words, "last year." Quinn saw red. Yes, you were old enough to make your own decisions, but he hated that this decision ended with you in tears and running out the door.
"You've been stringing her along for over a year?!" Quinn's voice got louder with each word.
"No, I swear! I didn't think she felt the same way I did, and if-" Trevor's voice broke.
"Come on, Trevor," Jamie sighed. "You're dumb, but you're not that dumb. Everyone can see that she loves you and you love her."
It was quiet for a moment.
"You better fix this," Quinn spoke one last time as he headed for the door, he didn't trust himself to not punch Trevor if he stayed any longer.
"She is the best thing that has ever happened to you, don't let her get away." Jamie walked away.

(you)
The first week after that night everyone gave you your space. Texts were your only form of communication, you didn't trust yourself to talk, you knew your voice would be coarse from all the crying.
Trevor would call and text you everyday and every time he did you ignored him. Eventually you muted his notifications, you knew you should've blocked him but you weren't ready for that.
────
The second week after that night you no longer had space. At least one of your friends were with you at your apartments at all times. These days were filled with binge watching cringy reality shows and lots of take out. You started to smile and laugh again.
────
The third week after is when you finally left your apartment.
On Monday, Quinn took you to the beach, complaining about how he was getting sand in places he didn't know sand could get into. You laughed as he got hit on, multiple times. He just awkwardly said 'thank you,' every time he was complimented. Once the, one sided, flirting stopped Quinn soon became your greatest enemy. When you got up to stretch your legs he took that as an opportunity to grab you and throw you into the water. Once you came out of the water you saw Quinn dying of laughter. When he saw the look on your face he ran for his life.
On Tuesday, Luke dragged you to an arcade. You beat him at air hockey and might have gotten a little too excited based on the looks you got from all of the parents with their little kids. He accused you of cheating saying 'You rigged this somehow. I should've won, I literally play hockey for a living!’ You just laughed and called him a sore loser followed by a laugh and, ‘Maybe it’s time you retire and I take your place. I do look pretty good in red.’ He just scoffed and walked off to the next game.
On Wednesday, Jack made you go to an amusement park. He said that the two of you had to go on every single ride. The day started good but soon Jack's face started to go pale. You said you two should probably leave but he refused. He said he was fine and that it was time for the big rollercoaster. As soon as you got off the ride Jack ran to the nearest trash can and threw up. You whispered a quick 'I told you so,' and Jack just gave you the middle finger.
On Thursday, Nico forced you to go on a hike with him, you hated this. He didn’t tell you how long the hike was going to be and you wanted to punch him. The hike was filled with you cursing at him, while he just laughed. It was worth it once you saw the view at the top. The smug look on Nico's face however, was not worth it. You jokingly said you would push him off the cliff if he didn't wipe that look off his face.
On Friday, Jamie just simply walked around town with you as you shopped, not complaining once, that night he took you to a drive-in movie theater that was playing your favorite movie. This might have been your favorite activity of the week. Just you and one of your closest friends laughing being a little too loud and getting told to shut up by the cars next to you, almost getting kicked out.
You thought you would get to have a quiet night alone on Saturday but that thought went out the window when you heard a knock on your door. You opened the door and saw all of them standing there, a couple holding snacks and a few holding blankets and pillows.
"What is all of this?" You laughed.
"We’re staying over," Jack said as if it was the most obvious thing in the world, he then pushed past you letting himself in.
"Yeah, no, of course you can totally come in," you joked sarcastically.
"We know," Nico said, you playfully slapped his back as he walked by.
You watched as the blankets were dropped on the living room floor and the snacks were placed on the coffee table.
"I don't have a say in this, do I?" You crossed your arms
"Nope!" They all said in unison. You rolled your eyes playfully before joining them.

(him)
The last three weeks had been absolute hell for Trevor. During those three weeks he barely saw Jamie or anyone else, he knew he deserved that thought. The silence and alone time gave him a lot of time to think. When he wasn't in bed, he was out driving. He never had a destination in mind, he just wanted to clear his head but, as if the universe was playing some sick joke on him, he always ended up at your apartment building.
That Sunday morning was no exception. He sat there for what felt like eternity before he noticed people exiting the building. He focused to see who it was and he felt his heart start racing once he did. It was Jamie, Quinn, Jack, Luke, and Nico. Quickly he ducked, thankful that the parking spot he was in was somewhat covered by a tree. After a few minutes he finally looked to see if the coast was clear. He let out a breath he didn't know he was holding.
This was his moment. He could go up to you and finally explain everything, finally see you again, even if it was for the last time. He took a few deep breaths before opening the car door. Slowly, he walked towards the side entrance of the building. Once he got there he stopped and remembered, he had given your spare key to Jamie, he couldn't get into the building. He looked over at the intercom system and saw the button with your name. He obviously couldn't press it. You would turn him away immediately. He looked at the only other name that he knew.
Miss Bea. The old lady who lived across the hall from you. The lady who you would spend most of your free time with and the lady who always came over to your apartment on Sunday nights for dinner and card games. You both quickly became an important part in each other's lives. You were close, Miss Bea was like your grandmother and you were like her granddaughter. He knew that you had definitely told Miss Bea what had happened and he also knew that Miss Bea was terrifying when she was mad. With a shaky hand he pressed the button next to Miss Bea's name. He waited for a second before he heard her voice.
"Who is this? What do you want?" She asked quickly. Trevor froze and couldn't speak. "If this is some kind of prank or whatever you kids do these days you better get to running before I get down there." He knew that wasn't an empty threat.
"Hi-," his voice wavered for a second. "Hi, Miss Bea. It's-um-it's Trevor." He braced himself.
"You have some nerve coming here!" She was almost yelling.
"I know, ma'am, I know." He stopped and ran his hand through his hair, he didn’t know what to say, so he didn’t say anything. It was silent for awhile. Trevor began to think she had walked away.
"Are you here to apologize?" She said curtly.
"Yes, ma'am," he whispered.
"Speak up I can't hear you. I said, are you here to apologize?"
"Yes, ma'am," he said once again, this time loud and clear. It went quiet again. He thought that maybe she had just walked away as he just stood there for awhile. Soon the door in front of him opened and there stood the short but mighty, and scary, little old lady.
"You make her cry angain and I will end you." She pointed at him. "I know people. One call and they'll be here in a second."
Trevor gulped and quickly nodded his head in fear. He had no doubt that she did in fact 'know people,' and he did not want to meet them. She let him walk in front of her and he waited to help her up the stairs with an arm held out.
"Don't get all gentlemen like now." She waved her hand shooing him away. He nodded his head before turning and making his way to your apartment.
Before he knew it he was standing at the door. With a shaky hand he knocked before he lost the courage. Time felt like it had slowed down. Soon the door swung open.
"Guys, I told you-"
Tumblr media
(you)
Your stomach dropped instantly. There he was standing right in front of you. Quickly you tried to slam the door but he stopped it with his foot.
"Wait!" You opened the door once again.
"How the hell did you get in here?" You wanted to yell but you didn't. Before he could respond you saw Miss Bea walking to her front door with a little smirk on her face. "Miss Bea?!" You said in disbelief.
"Are we still on for dinner tonight, dear?" She asked in the most nonchalant voice you had ever heard. Your jaw dropped. "Honey, we talked about this, close your mouth or you're going to catch flies." She joked as she closed her door, leaving you alone with Trevor. You quickly closed your mouth before looking at the boy who had caused you so much pain.
"Can we please talk?" He whispered.
"I don't want to talk to you." You started to shut the door again.
"Then can you please listen? Just listen to what I have to say and if by the time I'm done you still want me to leave I will leave and I will never bother you again." You let out a sigh and opened the door, slowly.
"You have 5 minutes," you knew that was far too generous but, sadly, you desperately wanted to hear what he had to say. You stepped aside and let him in. You watched as he looked around your apartment like he had never been there before. All of the pictures of the two of you and the small little trinkets the two of you had collected over the years were tucked away in the back of your closet. There was no trace of him anymore. "You're wasting time. You’re 5 minutes started when I closed the door." You said as you crossed your arms. Finally, he turned to you, and for the first time you got a proper look at him. His eyes were bloodshot, his hair was a mess, and his face wasn't as bright as it used to be.
"Do you remember that field trip we took back in second grade, to the aquarium?" He asked. You nodded your head, extremely confused as to why that is what he started with. He looked down at his hands. "You were terrified to walk through the shark tunnel, so I held your hand and promised that I would protect you." He chuckled but his voice was still shaking.
It took everything in you not to smile at the fond memory.
"That was the first time I felt it. Obviously I didn't know what ‘it’ was at the time. But when my mom picked me up from school that day I told her she had to take me to the hospital immediately. She asked what was wrong and tried to see if i had any injuries. I told her you gave me cooties. She just laughed and I remember I got so upset because I thought I was dying and my mom was just laughing at me. She finally asked me why I thought you had given me cooties. I told her that my tummy felt all warm and fuzzy after I let go your hand and it happened again every time you laughed or smile or looked at me. She laughed again and told me it wasn't cooties and that I would understand when I was older." He wiped his nose on his sleeve, you turned around and grabbed a tissue box.
"Here," you whispered softly as you offered it to him.
"Thank you.” He wiped his nose before continuing. "Then in seventh grade there was that cheesy little winter formal and that little dickhead Tyler asked you to dance. Except it wasn’t even a real slow dance you both just stood there awkwardly with your hands on each other’s shoulders, stepping side to side.” You let out a quick and short laugh. Trevor laughed too. "I was so mad that he asked you before I did and that's when I started to realize that maybe I wanted more than just a friendship with you. You two started dating and at first I thought it wasn't gonna last because, c'mon we were in middle school, middle school relationships never last. But somehow you did and you lasted all the up to the end of sophomore year, which surprised everyone, especially me. You two finally broke up because you caught him cheating-"
"Okay, okay, you don't need to bring that part up," you muttered.
"And then somehow Tyler ended up with a broken nose..." he trailed off.
"And you somehow ended up with bruised knuckles,” you chuckled. A lightness began to fill the air.
"Hey, don't look at me, Tyler never said who did it." He raised his hands up in surrender. You could see Trevor's face start to light up again. “The end of senior year came and prom was coming up. You went on and on about how there was no chance in hell you were going. You turned down a dozen promposals. I was able to convince you to go with me because I promised I would stay by your side the entire time. I still had to drag you out of the house though. That's the night we had our first kiss, it was during a slow dance, a real slow dance, and we laughed because it was a complete cliché. We never talked about that kiss afterwards, we both acted like it never happened, and I hated that. It terrified me but that's when I knew 100%," he paused as he took a small step forward, and you let him. "That's the night I realized I was completely in love with you. I have been in love with you since before I even knew what love was. I still am and I will always be in love with you."
You didn't know when they started but you finally felt tears stream down your face. You stood there in shock. He felt the same way you did. He was in love with you. He has been his entire life.
"I never acted on those feelings because I thought you didn’t feel the same and that you never would. I’m a complete mess and all over the place and you’re…” he paused. “You’re, you. Then my birthday happened and everything got so complicated. I should have told you that very first night but I couldn’t, I couldn’t ruin our friendship more than it probably already was. I need you in my life so I took you in whatever way that would keep you by my side. Which was fucked up and completely selfish," he whispered.
"But what about that night? You didn't seem to be in love with me then," your voice broke a little at the end.
"I thought you were mad at me. You were short on the phone with me and then your phone went straight to voicemail every time I tried to call and you didn't read any of my texts.”
“So your first thought was to hook up with some random girl?” You cut him off.
“No! I don’t know!” He stuttered loudly, regretting his choice of words when he saw your eyes filled with hurt. “Fuck! No! You make my mind get all jumbled up and I can’t think straight when I’m around you or even when I just think about you. I jumped to conclusions and I thought that everything was over, our friendship and our…whatever we became, and just the thought of that sent me into a self destructive spiral, I wanted to get you out of my head and I failed and I hurt you while doing so. I should’ve told you how I felt that night at prom. I should’ve tried harder, I know that now, and I should've fought for you. I should've ran after you that night.”
“Yeah, you really should have,” you whispered. Slowly but surely you could feel your heart getting put back together again with every word he said. You could feel your love grow the more he talked.
“I have been beating myself up everyday for the past three weeks because all I did was stand there and let you walk away. You are quite literally the best thing that has ever happened to me. I would give everything up if it meant you'd forgive me and that I could spend the rest of our lives making it up to you. I'd even give up hockey if you asked me to, I really hope you don't because I'm really not good at anything else." He was rambling, saying whatever thought came into his head. He went to continue speaking but you just laughed and closed the space between the both of you.
You grabbed his shirt and kissed him. You kissed him with everything you had. He stood there shocked for a second before he finally relaxed into the kiss, cupping your face with both of his hands. This kiss was unlike any of the kisses before. There was no rush, no roughness, there was just love. You could feel the love radiating off of both of you and you never wanted it to end. Sadly it had to. You had to breathe.
"What was that for? I mean not that I didn't enjoy it, I really enjoyed it. I just mean does-" you interrupted him with another kiss.
"Has anyone ever told you that you talk too much?" You asked as you pulled away. You wiped the few tears still left on his face and he did the same for you. You wrapped your arms around his neck, his wrapped around your waist.
"I've been told that once or twice," he joked, all you did was laugh before bringing him in for a soft peck. He leaned his forehead against yours, his eyes closed and face full of love and happiness. The two of you just stood there in silence for a moment, taking in and processing everything that just happened.
"Hey Trev," you waited for some kind of response. Which came in the form of a questioning hum. "You got the story wrong." You pulled away, and walked over to your couch, Trevor right behind you. You both sat down
"What do you mean?" He questioned.
"The aquarium," you looked at him with a smirk. "You were the one who was terrified to walk through the shark tunnel, not me." He looked at you like you were crazy.
"No I wasn't, it was you!" He argued. He leaned back against the couch and pulled you with him.
“Maybe you’ve fallen on the ice one too many times because I’m right,” you laughed, your laughter causing Trevor to laugh. You curled into his side and he wrapped his arms around you.
Once your laughter died down Trevor spoke up again.
“I’m so happy you forgave me because I did not want to fall victim to Miss Bea’s ‘people,’ that really would’ve sucked.” He shuddered at the thought.
You looked up at him and the scared look on his face caused you to smile bigger than you ever had before. He looked down at you and playfully scoffed at your smiling face before leaning down to softly kiss you again.
This is what you both wanted for the rest of your lives. Laughing until your ribs hurt, kissing like it was the last time, and all the good times and bad times in between.
It wasn’t going to be easy, and you still had a lot to talk about, but you knew, with every fiber of your being, that he was never going to let you go again, he was never going to let you walk out that door, and you were never going to let him do the same.

Eddie’s Memory Log: Day 2-5
part 1 here | part 3 here | part 4 here | part 5 here | part 6 here
(ao3 link here)
There’s chewed up bits of food splattered violently all over the hospital lunch tray.
“Are you trying to feed me or torture me, Harrington?” Eddie wipes his mouth with the back of his arm.
Eddie still remembers Steve’s name.
“Kung Pao Chicken.” Steve over enunciates each syllable.
“My memory is fucked - not my speech, asshole.”
“Your attitude is fucked worse than your memory is.” Steve grumbles. “You asked for this yesterday, remember?”
Eddie chooses not to answer verbally and instead, shoves the tray away from his bedside.
Eddie doesn’t remember asking for Kung Pao Chicken yesterday. If that weren’t already obvious.
He dramatically chugs down a styrofoam cup of water. “Seriously, my tongue feels like it’s been assaulted.”
Nah, his fucking behavior today is all very reminiscent of that Shakespeare play - Steve only read the cliff notes for it during his junior year English class. Taming of the Shrew? Take a wild fucking guess who is the shrew right now…
Steve spoons a bite of his food into his mouth without throwing a tantrum. “Maybe your taste buds changed.”
“Maybe you’re wasting your time.” Eddie snaps back. “Maybe you should leave.”
Steve is  not in the mood for this. Not today. Robin is still borrowing his car and he didn’t get a window seat on the bus, so his Patience has clocked out early. Not even in the goddamn building anymore.
“Fine.” He gets up, packing up his meal that he can’t even enjoy. Look, Steve’s not asking for a candlelit dinner by any means. But changing the weather forecast - dramatically pouring food out of his mouth in that way? Munson is a goddamn piece of work (Pollocks probably, considering the mess).
That reminds him:
Eddie remembers how to be dramatic. Theatrics must be in his bloodstream or some shit.
“Are you leaving or what?” Eddie is flipping through the tv channels, not even looking at Steve.
“I swear on your stupid little board game, you better be an angel tomorrow.” Steve scolds, gathering all of his things underneath his arm.
“What was that?”
“You heard me.” Steve points a finger at him. “Your memory is fucked, not your ears.”
“Your tongue is fucked for having such shitty taste in food.”
“Nice comeback.”
“And you shouldn’t come back at all.” Eddie hits an imaginary cymbal at the end of his lame joke. At least there’s humor in his damaged mind. Too bad it’s at Steve’s expense.
Eddie remembers how to tell jokes again. Mean jokes. (tbd on the rest of his humor though)
Steve isn’t planning on saying goodbye, but he remembers the kids. They’ll whine him into an early grave if he doesn’t return to Hawkins with a little more insight on Eddie’s memory levels. So he decides to ask one more question before leaving:
“Hey. Munson.”
Eddie flips the volume down on the tv, and looks at Steve. “What now?”
Still remembers his own last name.
“When’s your birthday?” Steve asks again. He already asked this yesterday, but it’s worth a shot.
Eddie looks out the window, closes his eyes for a few seconds. For the first time today, his expression goes serene. All the frustration lines on his face relax. Ease up.
He opens his eyes and answers calmly.
“January 10th.”
Interesting.
Eddie knows his birthday.
Memory log: Day 3
Steve should consider a career as a psychic or some shit. Maybe he absorbed all of Eddie’s memory skills unintentionally or maybe his little DnD threat was worth the added bitchiness. Whatever it is, Eddie is actually tolerable today.
“That’s the least vomit-inducing shade of yellow you’ve ever worn, Harrington.” Which isn’t exactly a ‘hello, it’s nice to see you,’ but Steve will take it because -
Eddie still remembers Steve’s name.
“So you remember me wearing yellow?” Steve clicks his pen excessively. “Seems pretty advanced.”
Eddie turns the tv off today. Woah. “Last week, yeah. Wanted to join PETA just so I’d have a good excuse to throw fake blood all over it.”
Okay yeah, still mean - but also, his memory isn’t so shabby either:
Eddie remembers Steve’s yellow sweater he wore last Tuesday!? That seems impressive.
Eddie knows who the fuck PETA is (Steve makes a mental note to tell Robin about that one cause holy shit)
Eddie is making snort-worthy jokes today. (Are they still at Steve’s expense? Hell yeah, but who the fuck cares? There’s goddamn chunks of memory in his cynical comedy.)
Steve stays for the entirety of visiting hours. Eddie doesn’t ask him to leave - not once. They mock shitty soap operas on tv and theorize that all of the actors are actually rejected pornstars.
Steve likes This Eddie.
Steve hopes this version of Eddie is still here tomorrow.
“Did you think I’d forget?” Eddie asks slyly while Steve heads for the door.
“Forget what?” Steve isn’t following at all.
“The Chinese takeout.” Eddie says sort of irritated. “Kung Pao Chicken, remember?”
Oh. Steve does remember. Eddie does not.
Eddie doesn’t remember redecorating the hospital bed with his chewed up food.
His face suddenly drops at Steve’s change in posture. “What?”
“I did bring it.” Steve hates this. “Yesterday.”
“Oh.”
“Do you remember yesterday at all?”
Eddie whispers into his palm. “I remember you.”
“Right.” Steve’s chest gets tighter at his answer though.
While it’s encouraging that Eddie knows who Steve is everyday, and is comfortable dragging his style through the mud (or fake blood) - this puts such a damper on their good day. Steve can already see Eddie reaching for the tissue box, ready to soak his disappointment into off-brand snot rags. He can’t let the day end like this. No fucking way.
“Hey.” Steve knocks his knuckles over the wall, grabbing Eddie’s attention. “We’ll try again tomorrow, yeah?”
Eddie bunches up the unused tissue in his hand. “Whatever.”
“Take a good look at this non-vomit-inducing sweater.” Steve teases gently. “Don’t forget it.” He does a goofy twirl, and wiggles his ass while he turns around just to see if Eddie will laugh.
He doesn’t, but it seems like he’s trying incredibly hard not to. Always a good sign that ass-shaking is still humorous even after inter-dimensional brain trauma.
“Never said it was non-vomit-inducing.” Eddie retorts after fighting back his amusement. “I said it was the least vomit-inducing.”
“Ugh.” Steve rolls his eyes, gives Eddie a small wave as he heads out the door.
He can still hear Eddie trying to get the last word as he leaves:
“Maybe you’re the one that needs a brain scan, Harrington!”
At least it was a better day.
Memory Log: Day 4
Well so much for the Better Day. Somehow, Eddie’s attitude is now reaching Mister fucking Hyde levels today. He’s the bad dude, right? The Jekyll guy is a doctor, which must make him the chill one… ya know, medicine and shit. And seriously, doesn’t Eddie need to be on some more medications anyways? If Steve were smarter, he’d write the fucking prescription himself.
Whatever, Eddie is Hyde and that Shakespearean shrew lady all chopped up and tossed together today. He’s slinging insults like softballs and snarling his bruised upper lip every time Steve utters a single sentence. Steve is reconsidering his comment about not taking money from sophomores, cause this is bullshit.
“What sexually transmitted disease brings you to the hospital today, Harrington?” Eddie asks rhetorically. And annoyingly.
He remembers he strongly dislikes Steve Harrington, that’s for damn sure.
But… he still remembers Steve’s name so that’s a plus.
And wait -
“Hold on. Did you just make a Steve is a Hometown Slut joke?” Steve is way too excited about the prospects of Eddie remembering his promiscuous past.
Eddie tilts his head to the side. “Hometown Slut would be a good band name, actually.”
“Focus, Munson.”
“Uh, I guess?” Eddie reaches for his pudding cup. Huh. Maybe he’s sick of jello. “Why are you about to piss your pants over that?”
Steve flips to the first day of notes when Eddie didn’t remember jackshit about Steve in high school. He looks back up at Eddie. “Because that means you remember at least something about high school.”
Eddie shrugs. “I failed a lot of shit. It’s probably because there’s just way too much high school to remember. Something was bound to stick.”
Eddie remembers flunking Senior year.
And even though Eddie is living up to his satanic stereotype with his behavior today, Steve is beyond excited that memories are coming back. He just has to ask one more thing before leaving:
“Do you remember what color sweater I wore yesterday?”
Eddie examines Steve for a very long time. Hoping to spark the correct answer, Steve twirls again. Wiggles his ass. Gives a big, goofy smile.
“You’re weird.” Eddie looks away. Looks down.
Steve exhales loudly.
Eddie doesn’t remember Steve's least vomit-inducing yellow sweater.
Memory Log: Day 5
After Dustin analyzes Steve’s daily entries, they hypothesize that Eddie is struggling the most with short term memories (since he never quite remembers one day prior to the current day). It appears that some of his long term memories are gradually returning, so perhaps a little coaxing will speed those along.
“Well well well, if it isn’t -”
“Catch, Hyde!” Steve tosses a crushed velvety bag into Eddie’s lap.
Eddie pokes at the bag. “Hyde?”
“It’s either Hyde or Katherina.” Steve finally asked Robin the name of that bitchy character from the Taming of the Shrew. “But if you’re gonna play nice today, I’ll just call you Eddie.”
That solicits an audible gasp from him.
He must remember that Steve never calls him by his first name.
“Your references and gifts confuse me.”
“Maybe if you just open the bag, it‘ll un-confuse your sloshy brain.”
He dumps the jangly items onto his side table.
It’s slow - the smile that forms over Eddie’s face. It’s the first time Steve has seen Eddie smile with teeth since that night in the Upside Down. One of his teeth on the bottom row is chipped, but it doesn’t even matter. He’s smiling wide enough to show all of his teeth and that’s the fucking win for today. Everything else is just a bonus. Sprinkles and candles and confetti and party hats.
After so much loss, they needed this win.
“So?” Steve wants words now. Needs smiles and words combined. “See something you like?”
“My dice collection.” Eddie says it like the lyrics to a hymn. As if these geometric blobs are his religion and he’s praising their existence at the altar of his hospital tray.
“Do you remember what kind of dice?” Steve had Dustin give him some key definitions on this fantasy shit. Not for his knowledge, of course - for Eddie. Duh.
“D20s.” He answers fast.
Steve nods, walks over and tries to pick one up. Eddie slaps his hand away quickly. “Get your Grease Lightning fingers away from my children.”
Okay. Well.
Eddie remembers his dice/children (and what they’re called)
Eddie remembers Grease? (Of all the movies Steve thought this guy would reference… Grease? Is it the leather? Hm.)
“Do you…” Steve is nervous for this question because he desperately wants Eddie to get this right. “Do you remember the name of the game you play with these?”
For a second, Eddie’s face drops the same way it did yesterday when he couldn’t remember the color of Steve’s sweater. But the dropped corners of his lips begin to twist into a devilish smirk.
“My dearest Stevie boy,” Eddie’s voice is dripping in that poisonous tree sap kind of way. “Dungeons and Dragons isn’t just a game. It’s a fucking worldwide phenomenon.”
Holy shit. Within those three sentences, Eddie almost sounded like Name Brand Eddie Munson again. The tone he always used with the meatheads at Hawkins High - that tone is back. The eyebrows that inch along his forehead like witchy caterpillars - those eyebrows are back. It’s just three sentences, sure. But it was Eddie rising from his gurney of a grave in many other ways.
Eddie remembers how to use his snarky tone of voice.
Eddie remembers how to make his eyebrows dance around on his face.
Eddie remembers *Dungeons and Dragons*
Steve is so excited, he doesn’t know what to do with his hands? What do hands normally do when they’re excited? Clap? Stay at his side? Flap around? Fuck, he has no goddamn clue, so he just decides to give Eddie a thumbs-up with one hand and ruffle his knotted hair with the other hand.
Multitask the shit out of his excitement.
Eddie laughs along with him now, still admiring his collection. Not even bothering to stop Steve from his hair ruffling thingy. Huh… why is Steve still ruffling Eddie’s hair in the first place?
Okay. He finally stops himself. Has to pull his own wrist away but he stops.
“Guessing it was good day, Munson?” Steve wonders curiously, still watching Eddie roll the dice around in his palm.
Eddie nods. Multiple times. “Good day, Harrington. Good day.”
A prickly sensation hits Steve as Eddie says good day. A sensation that suggests to Steve that he wants Eddie to have more than just Good Days. Steve wants Eddie to have Great Days. Steve wants to give Eddie great days and present them to him in tiny velvet bags.
That’s definitely a turnpike of a thought.
He did this on purpose too. Dustin is coming on Sunday, which means Eddie will remember this moment. He’ll remember the dice and the Good Day. That’s part of Steve’s plan apparently. He’s making plans like that now. Strange.
“It’s funny.” Steve is pondering over his own discoveries, but also Eddie’s faulty memory patterns.
“What is?”
“You have the hardest time remembering the events from the day before…” Steve pauses to reflect. “But you always remember me.”
Eddie drops the dice out of his hands. He doesn’t look at Steve though, he just freezes up. His bangs have grown out quite a bit, but Steve thinks that Eddie’s face is redder than it was just a second ago.
Eddie remembers how to blush.
And Steve is going to milk that reaction completely. “You always remember that I’ll be here the next day. Isn’t that funny?”
Eddie kind of choke-answers him. “Funny sure yeah ha ha.”
Eddie remembers how to feel flustered as all fuck.
“Well,” Steve lifts up - still as smug and devious as ever. “I’ll let you have some alone time to catch up with your children. I’m sure you have lots of adventures to plan together.”
“Right.” Eddie finally sweeps his bangs back, watching Steve head for the door. “Does that mean I’ll see you tomorrow?”
“God willing.” Steve is sort of itching to ruffle Eddie’s hair again, but he doesn’t. “I’ll see ya tomorrow.”
Eddie waves and starts cleaning up his collection, swiping them back into their bag.
“Yellow.” Eddie mumbles very quietly. Almost inaudible.
Steve stops. “What?”
“Your sweater.” Eddie explains anxiously. “The tacky burnable one. It was yellow.”
Eddie remembers Steve's sweater again.
And Steve couldn’t be happier about that. Now he’s the one smiling with all of his teeth. The bonus type of smile on a day full of wins.
“It sure was, Eds.”

Shopping in your favourite art store with Bucky brings back the memory of your first encounter, and after so much time has passed, it was with fondness that you looked back on just how starstruck you were in his presence.

The art store you had been visiting for years was the same as ever – warm tones and homey vibes, organised by product and perfectly aesthetically pleasing to wander up and down the aisles.
It was a wonderland you would ever willingly get lost in.
A hand suddenly brushed your lower back, and you smiled. “You get all you need, Sunshine, baby?”
“I mean,” you hummed, turning to face Bucky. “I could get a lot more…”
“No,” Bucky deadpanned, face impassive par the raised brow. “You know the rules.”
You pouted at him, pleading silently, but Bucky only rolled his eyes and wandered off to the aisle of sketch pads and books. “You can get one more thing, that’s it,” he called over his shoulder. “No more than that.”
“Yes,” you cheered under your breath, ecstatic with the small win. With renewed excitement, you browsed the aisles of pencils and paints, a simple goal in mind. For a long while now, even before you had met Bucky, you had wanted to draw – capture the wonders in your mind and the beauty of the world around you.
In fact, it was in this very shop where you met Bucky for the first time. Butterflies filled your stomach at the memory – you had been so shy, so taken aback that he was even talking to you, that you were sure that the shock would be permanently etched onto your expression.
Birthday present shopping was always tricky – even more so when you were looking for something at the last damn second. The tinkle of the bell alerted your arrival, and you glanced over to see the smiling, friendly face of your friend and shop owner, Wanda. “Hey, you,” she greeted. “Back in again?”
“You know me, Wands,” you replied, shrugging. “I always leave it to the last minute.”
Wanda laughed and nodded before a fond smile made her eyes twinkle in the warm light. “Just let me know if you need help, alright?”
With a wave, you wandered through her shop, one goal in mind: a canvas of the best quality and maybe a few paints – who knew? You could walk out with a lot more; it was entirely dependent on the muse. Painting together with your friend was a tradition that you’d held for years now.
Humming a quiet song, you browsed the aisles for something to catch your eye when you side stepped and hit something solid. “Oh, shit–” You gasped, turning to see it was a person and not a shelf. The man was tall with cropped hair, a denim jacket over his shoulders, and bright blue eyes. “I am so sorry, oh my gosh–”
“You’re fine,” he replied, face blank. He quickly bent to pick up the paper you had knocked from his hands. Before you could offer more apologies, he straightened up and looked at you, gaze soft but considering. “No harm done.”
His stare pinned you in place, and your mouth opened slightly before you could stop it. “O-Okay, yeah,” you stuttered, cursing the overwhelming shyness that engulfed you whole and the damn butterflies that had taken refuge in your stomach. “I’m gonna- Uh, yeah. Bye.”
Before he could reply, you sidestepped him and rushed down the aisle to take refuge in the next one over, where more sketchbooks and pads were neatly lined up in rows on the shelves. Wanda looked up from behind the till with a sly smirk and a raised brow, as though she had heard your exchange with the handsome stranger, and you shot her a look that you hoped she’d take to heart – keep quiet.
Taking a deep breath, you began to look properly at the options available when you felt a presence next to you. “This one’s the best,” they said, voice perfectly deep and gravelly, and the sound made the cluster of butterflies in your stomach switch into frenzied flight. “You need to make sure the paper has the thickness for your medium, y’know?”
A tattooed hand moved into your field of vision, and you took a second to stare at the intricate designs woven into tanned, rough skin – peeking out from the rings and scarred calluses. Unbidden, your eyes travelled up their arm until you were face to face with the same man as before – the same one you had bumped into. His smile was small, gentle in nature.
“I love your tattoos,” you blurted, and your eyes widened slightly at the words that fell from your lips. But the man’s laughter was worth it – honeyed and sounding like molten chocolate, exactly like the ones you imagined from your romance books.
“Thanks, sweetheart, I did ‘em myself,” he replied. His other arm came into view, and you glanced at it to see even more designs – this time, a wolf and some sort of machinery.
“Wait,” you hesitated, looking into his face. A sudden realisation dawned on you – this was Bucky Barnes, the owner of one of the best tattoo shops in the area, and he was right in front of you. “Oh my god, you’re Bucky Barnes!”
“In the flesh,” Bucky laughed. He was grinning now, his eyes bright with mirth. “What’s a beautiful ray of sunshine doin’ here, huh?”
You laughed nervously, moving your hand to rub at the back of your neck on instinct. “I, um. I came to pick out a present.”
“Oh?”
“It’s my friend’s birthday, and we paint together sometimes,” you continued. Bucky was still smiling, but his gaze was flicking between your lips and your eyes as you spoke. The butterflies continued to flutter at a frenzied pace, each bouncing off the walls with fevered excitement. You took a subtle deep breath, hoping it would calm the nerves that were beginning to boil over.
“Sounds like fun, doll,” Bucky said, still with that damned smile on his lips. “I’m in here picking up supplies for the idiots back in the shop.”
You chuckled quietly and turned back to the paper that lined the shelves. Bucky’s hand reached out before you could look closer at the options and grabbed at least several pads, the paper bending slightly in his grip. “I best keep goin’,” Bucky sighed. “I’ll catch you at the till.”
“Okay,” you squeaked.
Bucky winked and made his way back over to the aisle of pencils, leaving you dumbfounded, standing rooted to the spot in shock. “What the fuck,” you murmured, wringing your hands. “Just… What the fuck.”
With haste, you chose some sketch and canvas pads to share with your friend. Then you wandered over towards the paints – resolutely ignoring the way Wanda’s eyes followed you or how Bucky dawdled in front of the selection of coloured pencils, phone in hand and a startlingly serious glare on his face.
The sound of your footsteps on the wooden floor drew his attention, and the glare softened only slightly, as he looked over at you. You smiled back at him and then looked at the vast paint selection – deciding to stick with contrasting colours.
Before long, your arms were overflowing with paints and paper and canvases. “Hey,” you said, coming round the corner of the aisle to see Wanda waiting patiently, that sly smirk still on her lips. “I’m finally done.”
“You should have a rule that you can’t buy the whole damn store, Sunshine,” Bucky piped up from behind you, a low chuckle in his tone. You jumped slightly, turning to look over your shoulder and roll your eyes at him.
“Oh, shush, Bucky,” Wanda teased, “you leave my girl alone.” Her hands moved to grab a bag, and she began to scan your acquired goods, her eyes glancing up and flicking between the two of you.
“She’s the one that bumped into me!” Bucky cried, widening his eyes. “Ain’t my fault.”
“And I apologised,” you clipped back.
“I dunno ‘bout that, doll,” Bucky replied, placing his books and massive array of pencils on the counter. “I would feel better if you let me pay for your supplies. Can’t deprive a ray of sunshine like yourself of that beautiful smile, can I?”
“Oh my god,” you breathed, hiding your face in your hands.
Wanda chuckled next to you. “You two are so cute–Buck here is only nice around me. He’s a grumpy bastard most of the time. It’s nice to see.”
“Wands,” Bucky groaned, glaring at her. You peeked through your hands to watch the exchange. “Seriously?”
“What? I’m telling the truth,” Wanda said flippantly, continuing to scan your items until she was finished – then she started scanning Bucky’s. You went to open your mouth, but she shot you a look. “I won’t hear a word against it, darling.”
A beat of silence passed as you fidgeted with your hands. You glanced up at Wanda quickly, and she pointedly glanced between you and Bucky as Bucky stared off at something in the distance.
Fuck it, you thought. “I-I just, I thought you were awesome,” you whispered, looking at Bucky through your lashes. He turned and looked at you, smiling while crossing his arms over his chest. “I’ve been a fan for so long, and I just can’t believe you’re here–talking to me.”
“Aw, sweetheart,” Bucky said softly. “It’s good to meet you too, why don’t you come back to the shop with me–you can meet the idiots. My treat.”
“Really?” You rushed, excitement flooding your body at the prospect of meeting the entirety of 107th Ink. “I would love to, oh my god.”
Bucky winked. “Good–I have a feeling they’d love you, Sunshine. I have definitely enjoyed your company.”
“Alright, love birds,” Wanda laughed. “Here you go.”
“We’re friends!” You spluttered, and Bucky roared with laughter, shaking his head as he paid. “Wands–”
“It doesn’t matter, doll,” Bucky cut in, his eyes flashing with something. “Nothin’ wrong with a bit of flirtin’ between friends, is there?”
Ice cold realisation flooded your mind. It wasn’t everyday chatter, you were too damn starstruck by meeting an idol to realise he was openly flirting with you – Bucky Barnes, the stoic and grumpy tattoo legend, flirting with you.
“No,” you whispered, abashed and overwhelmed. “No, there isn’t.”
Bucky didn’t appear to hear you. “Alright, Wands, see you next time.” The floors creaked under his boots as he turned to walk towards the door, and you followed quickly, waving over your shoulder at a giggling Wanda. “Let’s go meet the idiots,” Bucky remarked, grinning at you while he adjusted the bags in his hands.
“Okay,” you replied, falling into step next to him on the footpath. “Let’s go.”
A noise from behind you startled you from the memory, and you glanced over your shoulder to see Bucky talking to another customer – expression stoic and blank as he discussed what looked to be the difference between different pencils. It was endearing, so close to how you had met him.
You observed for a moment longer until Bucky noticed you staring, and he departed the customer’s company to walk over to you. “You alright, baby?”
“Yeah,” you sighed happily, grinning at him. “Just remembering how we met.”
Bucky chuckled. “You were so damn shy–I thought if I flirted with you anymore, you would have keeled over and died on the spot.”
“I probably would have,” you said, shaking your head. “I was so starstruck and nervous to realise it was you flirting until you paid for my things.”
“That’s alright, sweetheart,” Bucky murmured, throwing an arm over your shoulder to direct you to the counter where Wanda awaited, a smug smile on her lips. “You’re mine now. That’s all that matters.”

MASTERLIST | SUPPORT ME!
Tumblr media
There’s a pep in your steps as you approach the massive office building where your boyfriend, Keegan is working, carrying a single cupcake in a box along with a candle somewhere in your bag. Today is his birthday and you wanted to surprise him with a little something early in the day. He’s been having a rough time at work, staying in late, starting early, you barely even saw him lately, he even canceled your usual date night last Saturday, because apparently he had to finish up some kind of important presentation.
You’re trying to be as supportive and accepting as possible, but it’s taking a toll on you as well, missing the quality time you used to spend together, so that’s why you thought you’d surprise him with this little gesture before you head to work as well.
Keegan works at Pleasing, one of the biggest beauty companies in the world, though he is a finance employee, he has nothing to do with the products. He started just a few months ago and you know it’s a big change after his previous job at a small company, so it obviously comes with a bigger workload.
It’s only your second time in the building, you once brought in a few papers for Keegan he urgently needed, so you’re approaching the stylish front desk a bit nervously.
“Welcome to Pleasing, how can I help you?” the beautiful woman behind the desk asks you with a bright smile.
“Uh, hi! I’m Y/N Y/L/N and I’m looking for Keegan Watson, he works at the finance department.”
“Do you have an appointment with him?”
“No, I’m his girlfriend. Can you just… Just let him know I’m here, please.”
“I’ll ring him up for you. Take a seat,” she gestures towards the colorful couches in the lobby and nodding you decide to sit on the purple one, prepping the cupcake for Keegan’s arrival.
Opening the box you look for the candle in your bag and stick it into the dessert, making sure it’s standing straight. You keep an eye on the elevators and when you see him step out from one of them, you quickly light the candle and turn to face him as he approaches you.
You didn’t expect him to start jumping in happiness, but you hoped for some kind of enthusiasm to see you with the cupcake. However, he is walking towards you with a stone hard expression on his face, as if he is embarrassed to be seen with you here.
Just when you’re about to wish him a happy birthday, he speaks up and the words get stuck in your throat.
“What are you doing here?” he hisses looking around, as if he was checking if anyone saw the two of you.
“I-I just… I wanted to surprise you,” you whisper, completely taken aback by his reaction. “H-Happy birthday.”
Sighing he starts fanning at the candle to put it out, not even blowing it like he was supposed to and then he grabs your wrist and pulls you to the corner of the lobby, the poor cupcake still in your hands.
“You can’t just come here whenever you want to, this is my workplace, Y/N.”
“I just dropped by for a few minutes to give you this, I wasn’t trying to get you to leave work or something.”
“But you came here unannounced, I have shit to do.”
“Do you really? Because you just came down here.” You’re starting to get defensive too at this point. He is treating you like garbage for absolutely no reason.
“Because I didn’t have a choice,” he snaps back. “I’m not the little girl you’re babysitting, I don’t want cupcakes and… sprinkles,” he frowns, looking down at the dessert in your hands as if it was the most disgusting thing he has ever seen. It’s a simple strawberry cupcake with frosting on top and a bit of sprinkles, nothing extra.
“Why are you acting like an asshole? I came here to surprise you on your birthday, we haven’t seen each other in almost a week and this is how you’re treating me?!”
He sighs again and pinches the bridge of his nose before looking down at you.
“Y/N, I think we should take a break.”
All blood drains out of your face as you stare back at him blankly.
“What?” you whisper in disbelief.
“I’m focusing on my career now, I have a lot of work, I don’t think I have the energy and time to be in a relationship right now.”
“You don’t think?” you let out a huff. “Keegan, we’ve been together for eight months, it’s not like we just started dating.”
“I know, but… this is how I feel. I hope you can respect that.”
You’re not entirely sure whether you want to scream and punch him in the face, several times in a row or just curl up in a ball and cry for days. Or maybe you could do them both. But instead, you just bite your wobbling bottom lip and turn away from him.
“I’m sorry, Y/N,” he tries to put a hand to your shoulder, but you step back and out of his reach.
“Leave me alone,” you huff.
“Don’t act like a child, Y/N.”
“Oh, so now I’m acting like a child?” you choke out a laugh, tears rolling down your cheeks. “You’re a fucking asshole, Keegan. Go back to work, apparently, you have shit to do,” you spit, turning away from him.
You hear him clicking his tongue before he finally walks away, leaving you alone to deal with the aftermath of his behavior.
You feel humiliated and used, the way he just ended it all makes you think he never even had any feelings for you while you were so caring and loving towards him for so long and now it all just went down the drain. Eight months of your life, right out the window.
You go back to your bag and put the cupcake into the box, before looking for a tissue, you’re a hot mess in the lobby of a big company, this will probably end up being one of your worst memories.
As you’re packing up to leave with the last remaining pieces of your pride, you spot a man approaching you from the corner of your eyes. He is tall and he is wearing a designer suit along with a pair of expensive looking sunglasses.
“Everything alright, love?” a smooth voice speaks up with a british accent and when you look up you see the tall guy standing just a few feet away from you.
“Yeah. Everything is fucking perfect,” you mumble under your breath, throwing your bag onto your shoulder and grabbing the cupcake box from the coffee table. You stare down at it before turning back to the stranger. “Here, have a treat on me,” you grumble and just hand the box over to him, which he takes with a surprised expression. “Never trust a guy who works in finance,” you comment before walking past the man and leaving the building.
Ninety-nine percent of the time you absolutely love your job as a full-time nanny. You’ve been working with the Browns for five years now, taking care of their daughter, Sally, who was only four when you first started to babysit her. It was just a side job at first, you were working as a waitress after you finished school, but three years ago you became their full-time employee, taking care of Sally during the day while her parents are at work. You love this job, you love Sally and you love working for the Browns, the money is awesome too, so it’s a win-win situation for everyone.
Today, however, you’d love to ditch work and just go home to curl up on your bed and watch sad movies until you feel like you have no tears left to cry. But in the real world you have to suck it up and carry on.
Luckily, Clair is in a hurry when you arrive, so she doesn’t notice your state, she is out the door before she could even take a good look at you. Sally, however, being the tiny genius that she is at the ripe age of nine, immediately sees that something is up.
“Wow, you look awful,” she comments, looking up from her book when you walk into her room.
“Thanks a lot,” you mumble, throwing yourself into the beanbag next to her desk, blowing raspberries into the air as you stare up at the ceiling. “Keegan and I broke up.”
“What?” her eyes widen as she turns in her chair, abandoning the book she was reading when you arrived. For a split second, you feel ridiculous for discussing your breakup with a nine-year-old, but then you tell yourself she is probably more mature than the asshole who just broke up with you.
“Oh, I’m sorry, he said that we should have a break. But we all know there’s no such thing as a break in a relationship,” you roll your eyes.
“I never liked him,” she sassily replies.
“Really?” you huff. “What made you dislike him?”
“His vibes were off from the beginning,” she shakes her head, like a professional.
“Excuse me, why didn’t you warn me then?” you gasp dramatically, making you both laugh. “Okay, what do you want to do today?” you ask, hoping to take your mind off of what happened in the morning.
The two of you spend most of the day wandering around in a gallery, then you have lunch near Sally’s favorite park and you take her to the library in the afternoon, leaving with another stack of books she will finish off in probably a week.
Sally really is a genius. She has been homeschooled the past two years and she is already three years ahead of her peers. Her hunger for knowledge has been amusing and truly inspiring, and sometimes maybe a bit scary too. She looks like any normal little girl, but you’re convinced there’s an old man, maybe a professor living inside her and when her original classmates will be starting highschool she might be finishing up college.
You make her dinner and you eat while watching the news, because of course, she hates cartoons. Clair and Simon get home at around eight so you can finally head out. As you’re walking home after you get off the train, everything hits you again and by the time you reach your apartment, you’re fighting your tears again. You grab the ice-cream from your freezer, empty the box while watching the Notebook and then pass out, hugging a pillow tight to your chest.
The next morning you can sleep in a bit, Sally has tennis class and her dad drops her off so you just have to pick her up at eleven thirty, so when you finally make it out of bed at nine you lazily make a coffee and take your time to get ready.
That is until your phone starts ringing.
Checking the caller ID you see an unknown number, so you’re hesitant to answer at first.
“Hello?” you say, holding the phone to your ear.
“Hi, I’m Stella from the front desk of Pleasing. I’m looking for Miss Y/L/N.”
“Um, it’s me,” you reply, but the mention of Pleasing makes your stomach drop. Could this be about Keegan?
“Amazing. Sorry to bother you, but Mr. Styles would like to meet you when you have the time this week.”
“Mr. Styles?” you ask in confusion.
“Harry Styles, the CEO,” she adds and your eyes almost pop out of your head.
“W-What? Am I in trouble? If this is about yesterday, I’m sorry if I shouldn’t have been in the lobby, I promise I won’t go there again!”
“No need to worry, miss. Mr. Styles just wants to have a chat with you, apparently you made a memorable impression on him yesterday,” she chuckles softly.
You made an impression on him yesterday? You start raking through your memories to clear the picture when it finally clicks. The tall man who walked up to you after Keegan left. He asked if you were alright and then you just threw the cupcake at him before storming out of the building.
“Um… well, I-I don’t know, I have to work today…”
“Mr. Styles said he can be flexible and make time for you anytime today.”
“I can drop by at around six today, I think..”
“Amazing! I’ll put you into his schedule, he’ll be waiting for you!”
And with that, the call ends as you stare ahead of you, completely confused about what’s happening.
You’re still in shock when you pick Sally up from her class and as always, she sees right through you.
“What happened? Did Keegan call you or something?” she asks as you take her sports bag and the two of you head to the car you use whenever you’re working. The perks of working for a rich family, for sure.
“He did not, but I got another interesting call this morning.”
You tell her about your conversation with Stella as she climbs into the car and you take the seat behind the wheel, driving off.
“Maybe he wants to offer you a job! Wait, that wouldn’t be too good, please don’t leave us!” she gasps, realizing what she just said.
“I don’t think that’s the case and don’t worry, I’m staying,” you chuckle.
“Okay, then he might want to ask you out.”
“I doubt that,” you scoff. “He saw me crying in his office building’s lobby and then I just shoved a strawberry cupcake into his hands. That’s not very… sexy, I guess.”
“You can’t know for sure,” she shrugs, looking out the window. “But do you think he looks good?”
“If I’m being honest, I don’t actually remember what he looked like. He also had sunglasses on.”
“Then we need to google him when we get home!” she claps her hands.
And that’s exactly what you do. The two of you sit in front of her laptop in her bedroom and you watch her type ‘Harry Styles’ into the search bar. Several articles come up about Pleasing and then there are a few basic information about him on the side along with a few pictures.
“So, what do you think?” Sally asks, clicking on one of the photos. It seems like it was taken at some kind of event, maybe a charity gala and he looks absolutely breathtakingly gorgeous. Behind the sunglasses he has those beautiful green eyes, the cheeky smile was absent yesterday, but it mesmerizes you as he stares back at you from the picture.
When you don’t answer Sally looks at you and sees how you’re staring at the screen.
“Oh, he is totally your type!” she laughs, snapping you out of your thoughts about the Greek god in front of you.
“Uh, I mean… he looks great, yeah,” you nod, very much holding yourself back. “Go back to the details about him.”
Sally clicks back and you read the few things listed. Harry Styles, born and raised in England, CEO of Pleasing. Apparently he is thirty-four years old, which is eight whole years older than you. There’s not much else about him, apparently he likes to keep his private life… well, private.
“I think you should go for it,” Sally tells you, opening up another picture of him.
“We don’t even know why he wants to talk, don’t go so ahead.”
“I’m nine, but it’s obvious even to me that you caught his eyes,” she rolls her eyes.
“Okay, Cupid,” you chuckle. “Alright, enough stalking for today. It’s lunch time.”
The rest of the day goes by as usual and when Simon gets home you can head out, but instead of making your way home, your destination is the Pleasing office building this time. You can’t deny you got the jitters, meeting the CEO of a multimillion dollar company kind of freaks you out, especially after finding out that it was him who came up to you yesterday. What could he possibly want from you?
Walking into the lobby a bitter feeling takes over you, but you try your best to push it to the back of your mind as you approach the front desk where you’re met with the same woman, who you assume to be Stella.
“Hi, I’m here to meet Mr. Styles?”
It comes out as a question, because you still can’t believe he wants to meet you. The woman however doesn’t seem to mind your uncertainty.
“Welcome, Miss Y/L/N. He is waiting for you in his office. Forty-fifth floor, down the hall on the right, but there’s a front desk up there too, if you get lost,” she explains to you nicely.
“Oh, okay, thank you. And… Um, do you happen to know why he wanted to see me?” Stella’s smile stretches a little wider as she cocks her head to the side.
“Judging from the way he demanded to know who you were after meeting you yesterday, you probably caught his eye.”
“Like, in a good sense?”
“Definitely,” she chuckles.
“Okay, but how did you know my number?” you ask, since you did not leave any personal info, only told her your name when you arrived.
“Mr. Styles has great connections. Finding a phone number is not a challenge for him.”
That sounds a bit alarming, but also impressive. Nodding you thank her and then head to the elevators. During your ride up to the forty-fifth floor, which also happens to be the top floor, you’re nervously fidgeting with your fingers, anxiously watching the numbers change on the screen.
34… 35… 36…
Your mind is racing, making up possible scenarios that might happen when you meet him and they vary from the most ridiculous ones to simple ones. Like asking you where you got the cupcake, because he liked it a lot. That would be kind of funny, you think.
The elevator comes to a halt and you hold your breath as the doors slide open and you step out. Just as Stella said, there’s another desk with a woman sitting behind, who smiles up at you when you approach the desk, standing up from her seat.
“You must be Miss Y/L/N. Mr. Styles is waiting for you in his office, right that way,” she gestures towards the massive double doors that have the initials H and S written on them.
“Thank you,” you nod and walk up to the doors where you stop hesitantly. Should you knock or just walk in? You decide to announce your arrival, so you knock twice before you hear a familiar British accent call out from the other side.
“Come in!”
“Here goes nothing,” you mumble before pushing the doors open.
The office you find yourself in follows the design of the whole building, very modern and sophisticated, but still full of colors. The floor-to-ceiling windows give an incredible view of the city, there’s a long conference table on the left, a lounge type of area in front of you with couches and armchairs and what appears to be a minibar and then on the right there’s the massive desk where the man himself is sitting when you step inside.
He looks up and a warm smile stretches across his face as he simply shuts his Macbook down and he stands up, walking around the desk to greet you.
“Ah, Miss Y/L/N, thank you so much for dropping by.” The charming smile he gifts you with makes you swoon and you feel your knees turning into jelly as he approaches you until he is standing in front of you, holding a hand out that you gladly take. He’s got a firm, but welcoming hold as he shakes your hand shortly.
“Um, hi,” you manage to say.
“Would you like to drink anything? Please, take a seat,” he gestures towards the couches as he approaches the minibar.
“Maybe just water. Thank you,” you say as you take a seat on the purple couch that caught your eyes when you walked in and he hands you a tall glass of water a moment later.
“You look a little… startled,” he chuckles softly, as he sits across from you and you feel like you’re at a job interview.
“Because I am. I’m not exactly sure why I’m here, Mr. Styles,” you admit truthfully.
“Please, just call me Harry. And if you don’t mind, I would love to call you Y/N. You have a beautiful name.” “Uh, of course, sure,” you nod, running your tongue over your lips to wet them and you swear you catch him eyeing the motion before his gaze returns to your eyes.
“You’re here because you… completely swept me off my feet, Y/N.”
“I’m sorry?” you ask dumbly, but it’s genuinely your first thought upon hearing his words.
“When we met at the lobby. I know you were upset and angry about something, but you had this incredibly vibrant aura that just pulled me in. That’s why I walked up to you, I needed to get closer to you.”
You stare back at him, just blinking without saying a word. Sally joked about him being into you, but you never thought this would turn out to be the truth.
“I’m sorry if I’m being way too forward, I just couldn’t let you walk out without ever meeting you again. I was really excited when Stella said you agreed to come back.”
“But… we barely spoke two words.”
“I know,” he smiles. “But I couldn’t stop thinking about you afterwards.”
“Oh,” is all you can reply as you stare back at him. He seems to find your surprise amusing as he grins back at you before he continues to talk.
“Excuse my bluntness, but I have… never met anyone like you and I know it sounds crazy since this is basically the first time we’re talking, but this is just how I feel. And I would love to get to know you better.”
“Are you asking me out?” you question, making him laugh. He must think you’re dumb or completely clueless when it comes to dating. Which might be the case, since you did not see Keegan breaking up with you, it all came out of the blue.
“I am, yes,” he answers. “I hope you don’t feel too intimidated by it all, how I got you to meet me again, I was truly just… desperate,” he admits with a chuckle. “Would love to take you out to dinner, lunch, breakfast, whatever suits you.”
For a couple of moments you’re just blinking at him blankly, trying to figure out when and why did your life take a full 180. Because this is not something you ever expected to happen to you.
“Um… Well, I actually just got dumped. Like, yesterday. So… dating is not exactly… I don’t know if I’m ready for it.”
His expression changes from amusement to surprise and then to… anger? He cocks his head to the side, keeping his green eyes fixed on you.
“He… he was your boyfriend and he broke up with you.”
It’s a statement, not a question. Suddenly, you feel ashamed, like you did something wrong even though you know Keegan was a dick and it had nothing to do with you. Yet, you still feel the urge to look away, your cheeks heating up.
“Well, he said we should have a break, but everyone knows there’s no such thing,” you shrug, trying to look as unbothered as possible.
Harry stays silent, the gears clearly turning in his head and you’re aching to ask what’s on his mind, when he stands up from his seat and then sits beside you on the purple couch.
“Give me your time and company, please. It doesn’t have to be a date, I just want to get to know you. Give me that privilege and let me treat you the way you deserve to be treated.”
Reaching up he brushes a loose strand of hair behind your ear, his touch is so delicate, you swear you’ve never been touched like that before. By anyone.
“So you don’t mind if… it goes slow?”
“No, not at all,” he smiles softly. “So… will it be breakfast, lunch or dinner?”
Tumblr media
“You can’t come in here smiling like a lovesick puppy for a week straight and not tell me the details,” Sally rolls her eyes when you lurk into her room on a Monday morning when her parents leave.
Your grin widens as you sit in the beanbag, your usual spot while she rolls her eyes at you.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” you shrug innocently.
“I’m talking about your new boyfriend.”
“I don’t have one!” you gape at her, but can’t hold your smile back.
It’s the truth, you don’t have a boyfriend. Although… Harry surely feels like more than just a friend to you. It’s been a little over a week since your visit to Harry’s office and his confession about wanting to get to know you. You’ve been seeing him every single day since then. Grabbing coffee in the morning, meeting up for lunch while Sally is in her piano lesson, having dinner at his or your place. Yes, both of those happened. At first you felt nervous about having him over in your tiny but super cozy apartment after seeing the penthouse he lives in. The comparison is ridiculous and you thought he would think less of you, but that’s not who Harry Styles is. In fact, he said he loves spending time with you at your place, because it feels like it’s a piece of you and he feels closer to you. Takeout on your fluffy rug became one of his favorite things you’ve done together.
“You’re unbelievable! I thought we were friends!” she moans, clearly hurt that you’re not sharing anything with her this time. She folds her arms on her chest and for once she actually looks her age instead of a tiny old lady.
“Hey, we are friends!” you tell her, leaning forward to put a hand to her knee. “Do you… do you want to meet him?”
Her face lights up right away as she nods.
Harry told you he has an unusually long lunch break today and if you wanted to, he would love to see you. You told him you’re working and Sally might not be up for lunch in the park, but it seems like she is very much into the idea.
So you text Harry that the two of you would meet him at the food truck that’s at the entrance of the park near his office and he responds just moments later, saying he can’t wait to meet Sally and of course, see you.
“Can you not embarrass me in front of him? In any way?” you ask Sally when the two of you are approaching the park.
“I’ve never embarrassed you,” she states with a stern look.
“Oh, for sure, never,” you scoff. “Remember when we ran into that old classmate of mine in the store and you came up to me asking if I wanted adult diapers instead of the mega pads I put into the basket?”
“That was a genuine suggestion,” she shrugs innocently. “The diaper would have been cheaper.”
“God, why do I even try?” you chuckle, circling an arm around her narrow shoulders as you head towards the food truck.
Harry is already there, exactly on time as always. He is wearing an emerald green fitted suit this time, leaning against a pole as he is typing away on his phone, looking just as breathtakingly got as he always does. It’s been hard to keep yourself to your I-don’t-date-I-was-just-dumped-I-need-time plan and not jump at the man whenever you see him.
“Holy…” Sally mumbles under her breath. “Is that him?” she asks, pointing towards Harry and you grab her hand and push it down before he catches her.
“Yes, but behave, he is not an animal in the zoo.”
“No, but he is… very hot!”
“Right?” you whisper in excitement, not able to hold your smile back. The next moment Harry looks up from his phone and spots you, slipping the device into his pocket without a second thought, pushes away from the pole and walks towards you until you meet.
“Hello, ladies,” he smirks, his eyes skimming over your face before moving to Sally beside you. “You must be the one and only Sally, right?”
“Sarah Lena Joyner, it’s a pleasure to meet you.” She sticks her hand out as if she was at a business meeting. People usually find her act weird and frown upon her, but Harry simply takes her hand and shakes it firmly.
“Harry Edward Styles. The pleasure is all mine.” His eyes then return to you and he leans in to press a soft, lingering kiss to your cheek. “Hi, Y/N,” he smirks cheekily.
“Hi,” you smile back like a little school girl, as if you were nine and not the girl next to you.
The three of you order your lunch, Sally asks for a hamburger, you get chicken nuggets with fries and Harry settles with a burrito. He pays for all the food and the glasses of sodas he expands the order with and when everything is ready, you take a picnic table that’s behind the truck, enjoying the food.
“Sally, Y/N said you’re an exceptional talent. I heard that you read a lot, what do you like reading about the most?” Harry asks, striking up a simple conversation.
“Mostly the solar system. But I’ve been interested in ancient Greek history as well.”
You can tell he’s a bit taken aback from her answer, but he is quick to control his face as he nods.
“Those are both great topics.”
He asks her more about her interests and Sally gladly tells him about her favorite planet and the million fun facts she has learned about it. You’ve seen adults brush her off and not let her finish, but Harry listens intently, even seems to be learning from the little girl who knows more about Venus than anyone you and probably Harry know. When all the food is gone Sally leaves the table to play by the swings and you let her, because it’s close and you can keep an eye on her. That leaves you alone with Harry.
“Thank you for being so interested in her,” you smile at him sheepishly.
“No need to thank. She is truly a remarkable kid and she’ll do amazing things.”
“I know, but people tend to find her… weird. She is nine and she speaks three languages and can recite the value of pi up to the ninety-fourth digit. Adults can’t really deal with that kind of geniusness.”
“I can see that. But I don’t find myself intimidated by higher knowledge, even if it’s someone who is decades younger than me,” he smirks and your heart skips a beat.
You remember when Keegan met Sally. She was freshly out of her latin class and was telling you about the grammatical rules she learned about in class and you can still see Keegan’s frown as he asked her why she even bothers to learn a dead language.
Sally never talked to him again and you didn’t want to bring him around her either.
So the experience with Harry is now such a relief, though you shouldn’t have even been worried. Harry has proven to be a true gentleman and everything Keegan could never be.
“Hmm, of course,” you smile at him. His green irises match the lush greenery around him and you get lost in them so easily.
“What, is there something on my face?” he asks with a cheeky smile, rubbing his chin, a blush appearing on his cheeks.
“No,” you laugh. “I just…” Reaching up you gently take his chin between your fingers and leaning in you stop just a breath away from his face before pressing a kiss to the corner of his mouth.
“Miss Y/L/N, I feel like you’re crossing to new territories,” he hums lowly and his voice is just pure honey. Suddenly, you wish you weren’t in a park, but in his or your place so you could explore those new territories.
“Mm, maybe,” you smile before sitting back and keeping your eyes on Sally.
Lunch time can’t last forever, you promised Sally you’d take her to the library and Harry has a meeting too. But you part ways with the promise of seeing each other later the day. You’ll be off nanny duty by six so you agree to come to the office, meet with Harry and then have dinner together again at his place.
And something is telling you that tonight you might actually conquer those new territories.
Sally smiles at you knowingly when you leave their home once Simon has arrived back from work and you just bid goodbye with a smirk before heading to the Pleasing office building. You text Harry on your way and he tells you to just wait for him at the lobby, he is finishing up his paperwork for the day.
You walk in and the girl behind the front desk just smiles at you, already knowing you’re here to see Harry. You wave at her and then take a seat, grabbing a magazine from the table to flip through while you wait. The minutes pass by, you’re minding your own business and you wouldn’t even notice Keegan if he didn’t spot you and decided to come up to you.
“Y/N? What are you doing here?” he snaps at you, as if he just caught you robbing a bank.
“That’s none of your–”
“Are you stalking me? This is fucking insane, Y/N,” he huffs, looking around to check if anyone is watching you, but it’s quite late, most of the employees have left the building already.
“Stalking?” you laugh in disbelief. “I’m not here to–”
“This is my workplace, you can’t just waltz in here to spy on me.”
“I’m not fucking spying on you, you idiot!” you finally manage to get out a full sentence. “I would be stupid to want to see you again.”
“Oh, and I’m supposed to believe that?” he scoffs and your palm is itching to gift him with a slap across his face. You’re just about to tell him what to believe when a smooth, low voice speaks up.
“Is there a problem?” Harry questions in a calm, collected tone, but you can tell he is trying his hardest to contain his anger upon seeing Keegan, whose face falls completely when he sees the big boss behind him.
“Mr. Styles, hi! There’s no problem, I’m very sorry if we bothered you. Me and my friend were just about to leave–”
“I wasn’t talking to you,” Harry says, his eyes moving to you and they immediately soften at the sight of you. “Y/N, is this man bothering you?”
Keegan’s face falls as he dumbly looks at Harry, then at you and back at Harry who is now standing next to you, one arm around your waist.
“Wait, are you… what…” Keegan stutters in disbelief and you can feel your petty self coming out.
“Well, you said you wanted to focus on your work and career. Totally fine, but I decided to date your boss. I hope you don't mind.”
You flash your sweetest smile as you melt against Harry, curling your arms around his waist as he squeezes you gently to let you know he’s here to support you.
Keegan gapes at the two of you for long moments, it’s kind of comical and when it seems like has completely lost his voice from the shock, Harry speaks up.
“I assume I should thank you for being an asshole, because I got to meet Y/N this way. Still, if you ever go near her again, I’ll make sure you’ll be replaced by the next day and won’t find a job anywhere in the city. Understood?”
“I-I… Yes, sir.” He gulps nodding and walks away so fast, he’s almost running.
“Are you okay?” Harry murmurs when Keegan is gone, his hands softly taking your face in his palms.
“Yeah, I am,” you nod and you actually mean it. “That was really… hot,” you grin at him, smoothing your palms over his chest, feeling up the hard muscles under your touch.
“And you just said you’re dating me. Thought you’re not ready for that just yet,” he smirks down at you, his face inching closer to yours slowly.
“Changed my mind,” you shrug innocently and you’re just about to press your lips against his when he pulls back.
“It’s not just so you can get back to your ex, right?” he asks and you swear you can see his heart breaking as he awaits your answer.
“I changed my mind in the park today. But it’s been a process and you proved to be worthy of my heart with everything you did.”
You watch his lips stretch into a smile as relief washes over him before he finally closes the gap between the two of you, his lips pressing oh so sweetly against yours, kissing you softly at first before becoming more and more needy, devouring you with his lips.
Unfortunately, you remember that you’re still in the lobby of his office building, so you should not get carried away too much.
“Do you think that maybe I could spend the night at yours after dinner tonight?” you ask, speaking against his soft lips.
“Absolutely. Tonight, tomorrow, any day for the rest of our life,” he smirks before pressing another kiss to your mouth, then he takes your hand and the two of you leave the lobby you never thought would hold such a special place in your heart.
Thank you for reading, please like and reblog if you enjoyed and buy me a coffee if you want to support me!

Heyy got some silly recs if you like, it's just angst where wanda forget r's birthday like r was really looking forward to it because wands promised reader they'd go camping on her birthday but wanda forgot, fluff at the end though, thank you so much. Love youu😚
Tumblr media
Authors Note: I loved this request and I had so much fun writing this. Its a small one shot. Im so sorry that it came out later than expected. I just had a lot of things going on at the moment. But im hoping to at least release 1-3 fics on Thanksgiving since I have the week off from school.
Warnings: Cursing, Angst, Fluff at the end.
I woke up to see that the bed was empty. I then quickly smiled and remembered it was my 26th birthday. I got up and put on a sun dress. It was a white dress with blue flowers on it, it stopped at my mid thighs. I then brushed my hair and went downstairs too see Natasha in the kitchen.
"Little Spider! Happy Birthday! Oh god ur growing up so fast." She pouted at the last part. I rolled my eyes at her words.
"Thanks Natty but where's Wands?" I then asked since I haven't seen her all morning.
"I think she's on a mission but its only gone be a few more hours until she gets home." Natasha told me with a smile.
"Oh ok" , I said with a sad smile. I then quickly made myself some hot chocolate while Natasha was rambling to me about Maria.
"Hey is Yelena coming over today?" I suddenly then asked her. Natasha then stopped her rambling and thought for a moment.
"Well duh, its ur birthday and im sure she is gonna bring a shit ton of vodka." Natasha said while rolling her eyes. I chuckled. Yelena has been giving me vodka for every one of my birthdays for 9 years now.
"Mm well im gonna go out. Text me when Wanda's back!" I shouted before I left the compound.
Hours later im still roaming the streets of Manhattan. I then suddenly get a text from Wanda asking where I am. Its now 7pm and I have realized an hour ago that Wanda forgot my birthday.
I didn't reply back to her and I kept roaming the streets. I then saw a ice cream stand and I decided to treat myself one more time for the night since I bought quite a lot of clothing.
I then ordered a strawberry cheesecake ice cream and started to make my way back to the compound. I then felt a presence approaching me.
Wanda then landed right in front of me. I then stopped walking and stared at her while eating my ice cream.
"Why weren't u answering my texts?" She questioned me immediately when she landed in front of me. I just kept eating my ice cream while staring at her.
"And why are u dressed up?" She asked while looking at me in my sun dress with multiple bags on my wrists while holding an ice cream. I just kept eating my ice cream while looking at her.
"Look at the date." I said while still munching on my ice cream. She then pulled her phone out of her pocket and checked her calendar. Her eyes then widened when she saw what today was.
"Oh detka im so sorry!" She then hugged me. Once she pulled away she took the bags off my wrist and dragged me towards some shops. My almost finished ice cream then dropped onto the ground making me a bit sad.
"Sorry detka ill buy u another one later." She said before dragging me into a store. After she finished dragging me into about 13 different stores we then were on our way back home.
"Wands u bought too much." I said while I was on her back. She then shook her head.
"There is no such thing, plus this is my apology for forgetting ur birthday and going on a mission while I could've been spending time with u and celebrating ur birthday." She said with a sad smile.
We then arrived back at the compound where everyone was waiting for us and set up a movie night for my birthday.
"Im gonna go change ill be right back." I said before taking all the bags and carrying them upstairs. I then arrived at our shared room and set all the bags on the bed and changed into some sweats. I then tied my hair in a bun before going downstairs to join the rest of the team.
"Little Spider! I brought us some vodka!" Yelena shouted when she saw me coming down.
"Its 9pm Lena! She is not drinking!" Natty scolded her. She then grumbled before setting the 9 bottles of vodka on the counter. I then run up to Lena and hug her.
"Dont worry we'll drink some when they are all asleep." I said with a cheeky smile. I then let go of her before I settled in between Wanda and Natty. Lena on Nat's other side.
"Can we watch Harry Potter?" I asked the whole team which they quickly agreed too. The TV then switched onto the first movie. I then snuggled into Wanda.
"Natty yelled at u for forgetting my birthday didn't she?" I quietly asked Wanda. She then turned to me. Hugging me tightly.
"You know damn well she did detka." She said with a timid voice. She was so scared of Natty it made me laugh every time she got yelled at.
"Even though u forgot my birthday im still glad I got to spend some of it with u Wanda." I said with a soft smile.
She then softly kissed me on the lips before going back to watch Harry Potter.
Once she turned away I was smiling like a kid in a candy store. I then cuddled into her before going back to watch Harry Potter. Best 26th birthday ever.

Belated Birthday Present
Summary: After missing Jamie's birthday, you begin to make it up to him. Pairing: Jamie Tartt x Reader Word Count: 1,100 Warnings: Smut, m receiving oral, blowjob, slightly blink and you miss it subby Jamie.
A/N: It has been far too long since I've written smut and I did it on 4 hours of sleep. Definitely not me compensating for missing Jamie Tartt's birthday yesterday. This man just deserves a nice blowjob.
Tumblr media
1:47 AM. That's what time your phone said it was when it automatically adjusted the time zone while you waited by the carousel for your luggage. You were supposed to be home yesterday morning, but a technical issue delayed your flight by a day, making you miss your boyfriend's birthday. After grabbing your suitcase, you head out to the pickup area where an Uber was waiting for you. The ride to your home was long and quiet as you fought yourself to stay awake. When the driver finally pulled up to your curb, it surprised you to see the lights on. After thanking the driver, you walked inside to find Jamie lounging on the couch in his sweats. "Hey babe, welcome home," Jamie says with a tired smile. "Jamie, what're you still doing up?" You question, locking the front door behind you and taking a seat beside him. "I wanted to make sure you got in alright." He yawns, planting a quick, gentle kiss to your lips.
Jamie held you against his side for a few minutes, giving you both time to enjoy each other's proximity again after five days apart. "I'm so sorry I missed your birthday, Jamie." You apologize with a slight frown. "It's not your fault. I know you would've been here if you could." He hums. "Your boss is a fucking twat, though, for making you travel so much." He jokingly adds. "Trust me, everyone knows Billy's a dick." You agree with a chuckle. "Have you heard back from any of the places you applied to?" He asks. "A couple." You tell him. "That last place I interviewed with ended up wanting me to relocate to fucking Birmingham." "I thought they had an office here," Jamie says. "They do but they lied about which location they were hiring for." You explain with an eye roll. "What dicks." Jamie scoffs. "I certainly know how to pick 'em." You joke. "That's alright, babe. Even if you pick shit bosses, you still picked me and I think I'm pretty great." He boasts jokingly. "You are pretty great." You say genuinely. "You're fucking amazing, Jamie." "I'm just trying to be the best me I can be," Jamie says with a soft, almost bashful smile. You just smile and snuggle into his side, taking in the smell of his body wash and letting it relax you.
"So, what happened to my super secret, super special birthday surprise you were so excited about?" He teases with a grin. "I was gonna take us out of town for the weekend to this romantic little Airbnb I found." You answer. "It was this very cute little place with a hot tub and it's right next to a little pond, too. I thought it'd be a nice, brief escape from the chaos." "God, that does sound nice," Jamie admits. "Roy's been on my fucking ass for weeks." "You did ask the man to train you." You remind him. "Yeah, I know, and now I'm paying the price." He jokingly grumps. "Poor baby." You mockingly coo. "I know!" He pouts. "Let me make you feel better." You hum, pressing a soft kiss to his cheek, then another to his jawline. Jamie lets out a couple of softer hums as you kiss down the column of his neck. "I also got you a few things I know you've had your eyes on." You hum vaguely as you trail kisses down his chest.
When your lips reached the waistband of his pants, you looked up at him with a smile. "Do you want your birthday gifts first or my very sincere apology for missing your birthday?" You ask him. "Apology." He says immediately. Instead of making a joke about how quickly he answered, you pull his sweatpants down until his member was free of the cloth constraints. He audibly gulped when he saw you lick your palm before wrapping your hand around his base. "I'm so sorry I couldn't make it back home to celebrate your birthday with you, Jamie." "I might be able t-to forgive you," Jamie says with a slightly shuddered breath as you kiss the crown of his member, licking up the bead of pre-cum already forming. "Fuck, I missed you," Jamie moans as you slowly take his tip into your mouth. "I missed you too, love." You hum after pulling off of his length, using your spit as lubricant to stroke him.
This time when you leaned forward and took his length back into your mouth, you took as much of him as you could. "Jesus Christ." Jamie hisses when he hits the back of your throat. His moans get louder the more you find your rhythm, resting a hand on his thigh as you lavish his length with attention, teasing the vein that ran along the underside with your tongue. His moans fill the living room of your home, echoing off the walls of the space as his head falls back in abject bliss. When he starts getting close, he tangles the fingers of one hand in your hair while his other hand grabs the arm of the couch in a vice-like grip to keep himself up when he feels his knees almost buckle. As his breathing becomes more ragged, you double your efforts to push him over the edge, bobbing your head just a tad faster and reaching up to massage his balls. The moan that follows comes from deep in his chest as he spills his release down your throat.
When his orgasm subsides and you've swallowed every last drop, you carefully pull off of him,  looking up at him through your lashes as you lick him clean. "Apology fucking accepted." He jokes with a breathless chuckle, offering his hand to help you back up after tucking himself back into his sweatpants. "I love you, babe," Jamie says sweetly, pulling you into a quick, gentle kiss before the two of you head to your bedroom. "I love you too, Jamie." You hum happily. While he pulls the covers back, you change into your pajamas, grabbing a couple of gift bags from the back of the closet. "Here are your birthday gifts by the way." You tell him with a sheepish smile. "What's in the pink and white one?" He asks, doing a poor job of masking his lust as simple curiosity. "Something I picked out for this weekend with you in mind." You answer vaguely, a teasing smile on your face as you crawl into bed with him. You set the gift bags in his lap and smile, pecking his cheek. "Happy belated birthday, my love." You hum as you watch him impatiently tear into the pink bag first, completely ignoring the other one.

Midnight 🧡 (Part 2)
Summary: having dark past because of your mum made you rethink your decision, although lando is doing everything for you
Warnings: nsfw, 18+, a bit angsty, reader’s past is kind of sad, drugs
It has been few weeks since youre having these thoughts.
What if i can never be a good mother? What if i turn up like my mum? What if my baby hates me because im not a good mother? Was keeping the baby a good choice?
Your mum is someone in your life, you dont want to remember. You were 4 when your dad left. For another woman. Your mum raised you from then. But, was she good at raising you? No. She would always bring different men at night. Making it so obvious in front of you that they have sex. She would always make out with them in front of you. The worst part is, you were just 6 when these used to happen. But, you thought your mum was right all these time. You were grateful that she was raising you. Working to earn money. Earning so then you can go to school. But things became tough when you were finally an adult. She would put pressure on you to go work. But not just normal work to earn money. She would tell you to be a prostitute. Because according to her, all you can do is just please men. Every day and night, it was always yelling and shouting at her. Because you couldn’t take it anymore. She was just being mean to you.
You were celebrating your 21st birthday with lando, when you got a call from a hospital. It said that your mum was found unconscious on the street because of too much drug consumption. You immediately went to the hospital with lando and found her on the hospital bed. You were so worried for her. You stayed there all night with lando, waiting for her. But all she said, when she gained consciousness was, “Can you give me 100 bucks from your rich boyfriend? I need it urgently”
That was the last time you saw her. You just couldn’t bear it anymore. You had to leave. It has been two years. Although you do get news about your mum from some of your relatives. Heard that she has married some guy. Whatever. You dont care.
Yes. That’s the problem. You dont care about your mum, thats the problem. Your mum was always a shit person to you. What if your baby hates you too? Just like you hate your mum.
“Y/n, are you alright baby?” Lando asked. You flinched at his words as you looked at him confusingly. “What?” You asked as you looked at the road again. Lando took a deep breath. “You seem pretty lost. If you’re stressing about anything then tell me. Please” he said as he focused on his driving. “No no, its nothing. Im just tired. Its almost midnight” you said, sounding obvious that youre lying.
The next few minutes were quiet. But lando finally broke the silence.
“Is it because of your mum, y/n?” He asked, sounding serious. You couldn’t help but look down at your belly. Tears started to form in your eyes. “If it is about your mum, then baby let me tell you. Youre nothing like her. You’re gonna be a great mother. I mean it” he said as he held your hand, gripping tightly. “I just..” your words got cut out because of your tears. “Tell me love” he said, sounding so soft. You wiped your tears and looked straight. “Can we please talk about this when we get home?” You said, your words were so cold. Lando didn’t say anything but he still held your hand. Not letting your hand go.
“Y/n, please talk to me about it” lando said as he placed the car keys down. “Talk about what?” You asked, pretending like you dont know. “Talk about what?” He repeated. “Y/n, talk about whats wrong. What’s bothering you for the past few weeks?” He asked, sounding concerned. “I just..” you stopped, sitting on the couch, looking down on the floor. Lando then came close to you, kneeling in front of you. He held your hands and caressed it with his thumb. “You just?” He asked. “I just dont think i can do this. What if im not a good mother? What if i turn out like my mum?” You asked, looking down as you teared up again. “Baby..baby youre going to be a great mother. I promise. Youre such an amazing person. You have no idea how much im grateful to have you. Im so happy we’re gonna have a baby, my love” he said. His words comforted you. “Dont cry, my love” he said as he wiped your tears away with his thumb.
The next morning felt really bad. You dont know why but you felt like lando was wrong. You felt like you were right all this time. You felt like all your comfort wiped away from last night. Maybe you are gonna be a bad person like your mum.
You were sitting on the couch looking blankly at the tv. You took a deep breath and did what you had to do to do. You got your phone and dialed a number.
“Okay great, I’ll come tomorrow at 7pm for the abortion”

let’s work this out

“kylian, you don’t understand how important it was for me.” he missed one of your family member’s birthday party, once again. he constantly excuses it by saying he needed to practice or an unexpected meeting came up. it wasn’t a good look to your parents. nonetheless, attending family parties alone.
“you’re overreacting right now. come on, you know i have practice. you can’t just expect me to only commit to you.” kylian has been spilling random stories out of his mouth.
“i’m not telling you to choose football or me. i’m sick of attending everything that helps your career, but you can’t seem to even come with me for my nephew’s birthday. is it really that hard?”
“oh my god y/n. i spend hours everyday working hard to take care of us. the last shit i want to come home to is you yelling.”
“well don’t give me reasons to yell kylian. it’s not that hard to be a good boyfriend.”
“see, now you’re bitching about how i’m a bad boyfriend. i just want to relax for once.” he left you in tears as always as he went to the bathroom. you sat there in disbelief. you hoped he would come back out and try to comfort you. there was no point when you heard the shower turn on.
the arguing had been going on for a month. you don’t even remember the last time you were in the same bed as him. or the last time you slept peacefully. fuck, not even the last time you had eyes that weren’t swollen. kylian knew about the party at least for 2 months. every party had to be planned beforehand to clear his schedule. today was his day off as well. he left to the training camp without a word. it wasn’t like he forgot. your nephew adored him, who could forget someone that quickly? you clearly noticed he consistently avoided coming home because there would just be back-to-back arguing. you would sleep in your once shared bed, and he slept in the guest bedroom. but that was only if he actually came home. your family constantly nagging about him was one thing, but the most important thing was you didn’t know who he was with. you trusted kylian in so many levels, but the past few weeks gave you doubts.
of course, the media would’ve found out if he was seeing someone else before you did anyway. there’s already been rumors that your relationship was over. more spotlight on him going out to clubs and bars. the sudden distance was running through your head like crazy. did you just lose your best friend? you felt so hopeless that you grabbed a random suitcase and filled random clothes in it. in minutes, the clothes were everywhere on the floor and the suitcase was going to break from the weight. ultimately, you left everything on the floor and just went outside for some air.
where were you going? hell, you didn’t know. it was just an instinct to just keep walking. you were lucky to live somewhere private so there’s nobody taking pictures, but damn the walk to leave the property was far. halfway to the gate, rain suddenly poured down. your tears only fell faster to the point where you couldn’t tell if it was the rain or your tears. it felt like your life was falling apart only in one hour. the thunderstorm only grew louder as the wind picked up. you were stuck in the rain, cold, and only farther from home. you just walked wherever the wind was taking you, which was to the exit. as your nose was dripping and your tennis shoes now soaked, suddenly light was flashed on you.
you looked behind to see a car. being the only resident in this street, you could figure out who it was. you walked faster which splashed puddles everywhere, but that didn’t stop kylian from getting out his car and running towards you. you didn’t expect anything except more fighting. that thought slowly disappeared as you were pulled into a hug.
“where are you going? please don’t leave.” you couldn’t believe it. kylian mbappe was crying while hugging you in the rain. you didn’t know what to think or how to feel. actually, his comfort made you cry harder. you got the closure you needed after awhile. “you scared me, i thought i lost you.” he was moving the hair out of your face while speaking in a calming voice. “i saw your clothes on the floor. then your phone was on the nightstand. then the thunder shook the house.”
“kylian, i’m okay. i just needed time to think.”
“think about what? were you going to leave?” the man with the world at his feet was currently begging you to stay by him. you’ve never seen him so worried about anything, you felt happy to know he cared.
“i’m not going anywhere, don’t worry.” you removed his hand off your cheek as you gave a soft smile.
“let’s go back home, you’re soaked.”
“yeah, i wonder why kylian.”
“it’s actually kyky to you.”
“no, you made me mad. you’re kylian now.”
“it’s kyky.”
