Hi everyone! My newest story, King Eyes, is now available on my website and as a download through Bookfunnel!

It's a cozy, slice-of-life fantasy about two teens who just want to tell stories, but life keeps getting in the way. Here's the updated blurb:

Dalon is a storyteller, Karí is a daydreamer. Armed with a mind-reading amulet, they try to craft the best folktale retelling their village has ever heard. There aren't many ways to fatten a purse in the sleepy fishing village of Lurit. Dalon sells smoked fish by day and peddles stories to eager listeners some nights. He works with Karí — a girl struggling to find her place within her potter family — by using an amulet called the King Eyes to watch her mind. With Dalon's easy way with words and Karí's vivid imagination, their stories soon develop a small but loyal audience. A trading caravan is arriving in a handful of days, and Dalon sees an opportunity to earn more money from the influx of visitors. On a tight deadline, Dalon and Karí juggle family duties and daytime chores with preparing their next story, all the while trying to keep their illegal use of the King Eyes a secret.

I had so much fun writing this story, even as my own life often got in the way. I hope you give it a try and enjoy it! It's only a little over 50k words, so it's very much a bite-sized novel as far as fantasy goes.

(And I know I might be preaching to the choir here, but even though I haven't decided to monetize my stories yet, they're still mine. Please do not redistribute them!)

"He lies down on the floor and pauses for a brief second. "Why does this keep happening?" he utters. It's because his mind's a puzzle, trying to piece everything together."

"In his room defurnished, a regular monster appears. It looks familiar, it mirrors just like him. He punches, he thrashes, he screams, looking deafened and intruded. He falls to the floor, all mangled and weeping."

"Voices over here and voices over there. Wherever he goes and where he moves, he battles it everywhere."

"He looks down at himself, painted with bruises and tears"

"He looks up to his window. Spotlighted by the night's beam is a Raven, directly at him, staring."

"he said: "I'm housing the very monster which I dread"."

"Digests it, he realizes his biggest tragedy."

"His loss of someone, but loss of himself."

"Once upon a time, there was once a peaceful widowed novelist in his apartment, facing his hardest battle yet."

Hey guys, after many months, I'm excited to finally share Metalmade with you all!

What's Metalmade about?

In a bustling settlement with blood-sucking shapeshifters and sentient machines, some folks are not what they seem to be.

Yaya is a highly-advanced humanoid machine, trying to earn the final credential that will make her the guardian of her creator's orphaned daughter. Eager to prove herself, she takes on an assignment to determine whether the village's newest tofu-peddler is an aswang — a dark creature that disguises itself as a human but drinks human blood.

It's a difficult assignment for Yaya. Failure means she will lose all her previous credentials, though that won't be the worst of it. Mistaking a human for an aswang means bringing pain and shame to an innocent person. Mistaking an aswang for a human means allowing a dangerous creature to roam freely.

Follow Yaya's investigation in the fantasy sci-fi novella, Metalmade, where a land inspired by precolonial Tagalog society uses magical technology to resist the most formidable of Filipino mythological creatures — the aswang.

Thank you to everyone who helped me with this project! It was really heartwarming to see all the support I got on the previous posts. Big shout-out to my beta readers @codexontheflightofbirds and @tenthousandcats! The final version of the story is a little bit different from the manuscript I sent out last year, but hopefully it's a more polished version, thanks to all the wonderful feedback I received!

Our last finals project for our 4th year is a portfolio 📖, composing all of our best works throughout our art journeys. I am so bewildered to finally accomplish my own, physically. Went to #YOIconph today and I'm so freaking happy with my haul!
