aether

i literally had no vibes for who he would main. at first i thought a brimstone main (i dunno man i have no idea) but then i thought about astra and i decided yes. why? because of stars.

he’d totally play support characters since his sister, lumine, plays a lot of agro characters and duelists. (side note: she mains jett) they play perfectly off of each other and people always comment on how they seem to be able to read each other’s minds.

he’s a very defensive player and is usually buying for lumine since he always seems to have credits. he either hard carries or lumine hard carries when they play, there’s no in-between.

he also plays a lot of among us. when he and lumine are imposters, they’re almost unstoppable. lumine kills while he gains alibis and trust. the twins are probably also the ultimate codenames players.

i can’t see aether not playing multiplayer games. he’s always playing with his sister on stream, and off stream with you, whether it be animal crossing or fireboy and watergirl (does anyone even remember that game lmao).

your relationship is very private. chat knows he has a s/o but they don’t know who it is, but ever since he went into a relationship with you, his streams started to become shorter so he could spend more time with you. his chat started asking questions about it, so he eventually told them and started spamming his emotes, asking to meet you.

one day, you decided you wanted to meet his chat, since you had been lurking that day and wanted to try it out. meeting up with lumine, you all decided that you would play valorant with them and answer questions as you played.

after the stream, his chat would not stop asking about you. even lumine’s stream got swamped with “when is y/n coming back” or “more streams with y/n pls”.

you eventually became a regular occurrence, and once a week you would join them with whatever they were doing. when you played right next to aether, every time either of you got a kill, the other would give them a kiss.

“ace! do i get an extra kiss?”

“alright pretty boy, here it is.”

albedo

viper main. not only does he love the playstyle, he also loves her lore and overall character style. he’s obsessed with science since he majored in science before he went into streaming.

most of his streams are art streams and a once-weekly karaoke stream. he often draws “random people” he saw on the bus or train plus fanart and often sings “random songs” he heard on the radio. he’s really well known on twitter for his sketches and his custom emotes.

his voice is so soft and calming and his music covers are so elegant. even if you hate the song, he can make you love it.

he plays some valorant, but he’s probably one of those animal crossing players who have the nicest islands. he also probably plays stardew valley cause it’s refreshing. he also enjoys playing games with super deep lore and interesting concepts, so he can go into that.

his playstyle is very patient and calculating. he knows where every single teammate and enemy is going to go and plans accordingly, then waits. when playing animal crossing or stardew, he’s willing the wait the longest time for his crops to grow.

they know he has a s/o. there’s another resident house on his island and that person on the bus or train is usually the same person. his chat has mentioned it once or twice, but it’s so subtle they don’t really notice.

when he finally answers the question, and says yes, his chat freaks out. he doesn’t get why they’re freaking out, since it’s not like it’s a secret, but they still go crazy.

he immediately calls you from your room, and you finally meet the chat, which has to be turned on slowmode to stop the spam. they don’t really see you on stream again, but if they ask nicely, he’ll call you ever so often.

you’ve played some games with him. you can’t play animal crossing together since you share an island, but sometimes you play codenames or among us, and you slowly become integrated into his streaming group.

he’s sorta sad when you can’t join in cause you have to do something, but when you do, it makes his day.

Vargas Camp part 2 (2/2)

The 2nd part of my reaction to the 2nd part of the story! Also tries to summarize the events of the story, but please take it with a grain of salt since I’m not fluent in Japanese. Previous part is here.

Alright, so we ended off with Ruggie having a plan for someone to run to get the headmaster, trying to convince the others of it, then Floyd proposing that they should defeat the shadow. He reasons that the shadow is too fast for anyone to try and escape it, so the only other option is to face it.

what the hell is this pose that I paused on fhgsgsldfs. Anyway, Sebek has a plan for attacking the shadow: if they lure it to the swamp, then maybe its legs will get slowed down or trapped by the mud. Floyd likes the plan, but Ruggie questions how they’ll get to the swamp. They can’t use anything like Jack’s unique magic since they don’t have their pens... wait! Ruggie realizes that they have the magic stones that they mined. By combining all the stones they have, they could cast a unique magic once without too much blot.

So, Ruggie makes a plan. He and Jack in wolf form will lead the shadow to the swamp in a roundabout way while Floyd and Sebek go on ahead to the swamp so they can launch a surprise attack. They huddle up to discuss further so we don’t get to hear cause they gotta build ~ suspense ~ I guess.

They’re all set now! Except for Floyd. He thinks the plan is lame. He wants something in return for cooperating (sasuga octavinelle). Ruggie offers to grant him one request... as long as it can be completed within 30 minutes. Floyd’s satisfied though, which is good cause something’s rustling in the bushes.

Oh shit What is that dmeon looking guy. he growl.

Alright, wolf form Jack time! HFSGHSLHGSDGLHSDHGSKHLG THE TALKING ANIMATION

IT LOOKS SO UNNATURAL I’M LAUGHIGN SO HARD

alright alright back to the story. The shadow goes to chase Jack & Ruggie, leaving the other 2 guys alone. Jack runs through the forest to the swamp, where he turns back to normal. The shadow approaches them, but on Ruggie’s signal Sebek and eel form Floyd burst out to grab the monster and sink it into the swamp. However, with some really weird sound effects, the monster braces itself to remain in place with enough force to gouge the ground.

Ruggie suddenly uses “Laugh with Me” on the monster! He makes it walk forward into the swamp and it sinks.

aw yeah payback time

hold on are you fucking serious THAT’S VARGAS! WAS THIS SHIT ALL A TEST? BRO RUGGIE HAD TO USE HIS UNIQUE MAGIC WITHOUT A PEN HE’S PROBABLY GOTTEN BLOT AND SHIT WHAT THE FUCK bro you seriously putting your students in danger like this for whatever the hell this is???? BRO the sound effects are super annoying too it’s almost as uncomfortable as the pokemon musharna’s cry

The guys can’t beat the Vargas monster and they’re tired from using magic. However, the sun comes up and they can now see that it’s Vargas.

fuck everything I did yesterday for april fools sir I hate you now.

They all go back to the campsite for Vargas to explain. Everyone is back there and safe. Jamil and Riddle explain that after they were snatched, they found themselves tied up by the ghosts in the middle of the forest. Vargas now explains that this was the final task for Vargas Camp. The people who went missing earlier were given “instructive guidance” (教育的指導) somewhere else in the forest because of trying to skip out and were supervised by the ghosts. Anyway, for the task, they cleared it good. Everyone claps and throws confetti for the final 4. There’s still lots of time left though?

Hold on hold on Deuce was definitely not trying to skip out though. Did he get kidnapped by someone else? Anyway, with the tasks done, Vargas instructs them to clean up. Awww Silver just smiling at Sebek without saying anything is cute. People tell the final 4 to go rest while they do the cleaning. The final 4 meet up and Floyd questions Ruggie about his having to use his unique magic.

Jack and Sebek get worried about him getting blot, but it’s soon revealed that Ruggie had more magic stones hidden away that he didn’t tell them about because he wanted to sell them. Blah blah blah anyway Ace and Leona return. Leona gets his dropped necklace back from Ruggie, Floyd threatens to squeeze Ace for skipping out. Finally, everyone notices that Deuce still isn’t back and he wasn’t with Ace & Leona.

They consider telling Vargas, but Floyd thinks that they can find a lost kid on their own. The group mostly agrees, but Ruggie and Leona don’t want to go. However, Jack convinces Ruggie to go cause he might be able to pick up more magic stones in the mines to sell, then Leona goes too since he doesn’t want to deal with tents and clean up.

So it’s the final four, Grim & MC, and Ace & Leona all in the mines now. They find a cauldron in the middle of their path... and they find Deuce! In the cauldron? He tells them to be quiet, but Sebek starts shouting at him. Something’s coming at them...

HELL YEAH MORE FOOD FOR THE FAN THEORISTS! It’s a different color that the prologue one!

Uh what is Leona asking Ruggie to do? Why is he doing bunny hops with his hands behind his head? Oh it’s to reveal the magic stones in his pockets hfldlhfdfhds how many of those things did he squirrel away!? Alright time to fight.

Blah blah blah people launching cool attacks against it. Wow they make you fight it twice ingame. Alright it dead now. Deuce is also super exhausted.

FELLAS

Anyway, some more nonsense about Ruggie selling magic stones happens. Floyd cashes in his 1 request to make Ruggie go back to camp immediately instead of try to get more magic stones. The group returns to camp where Vargas has already met back up with Crowley. They inform the teachers about having to search for Deuce and the monster, but Vargas thinks it’s a lie, an excuse for being late. Anyway, they all meet back up with their clubs and there’s the end.

“I wanna do it again... Maybe I’ll go with Jade on his next trip to the mountains.” 🥺 FLOYYYYYYDDDDDDDDD HHnHGngghf that’s so cute if I don’t see fanart of this soon I am going to eat an entire calculator. okay okay ending this post now before I freak out more hhhhhhhhhhh

SHOW US YOUR WROR RAW UNPROCESSED WHOLE GRAIN ORGANIC NOTES

this is going to be a long-ass post i am so sorry to Everyone! i take a lot of notes.

So, as You specifically know (as well as all of my lovely Soggers) I take a LOT of notes. Obsessively. I write fucking everything bc i have very little memory and very much paranoia. This results in literal Piles of notes. Raw planning, on paper, on my phone– doodles of scenes im brainstorming, bulletpoints, entire SCRIPTS– it’s all there but scattered (I’ve got scenes planned in the margins of my goddamn anthropology notes and deciphering it was a NIGHTMARE)

I won’t even upload all the photos of my writing notebook, because itd be like 50 pages of illegible nonesense. but heres a couple of planning phase pages. (may be hard to read, I dropped this notebook both into some tidepools, into a creek on campus, and accidentally leaked my waterbottle onto it in my backpack :/)

if you can’t tell already, yes they all look exactly like this. Some are even more illegible, because I wrote them with the notebook half under my actual class notes. Because i wrote most of them in class. During lectures. And pretending very badly that i was not doing exactly that. (pay attention in class please i got away with this bc i was filling up elective units)

I’m also flat out MISSING a large portion of my notes bc some of it? isnt even in the damn notebook. its on a sheet of binder paper, or on the empty back of an assignment. I’ve now lost most of those notes, but the ones i do still have are just as (even more, actually) indecipherable chicken scratch:

and this doesnt mention the PAGES and PAGES of outlines that are on my laptop, and the pages of outlined scenes that are on the notes app of my phone. if i put them all, you would have entire chapter spoilers up to the very end of the story so i cant post a lot of them– and also theres just a goddamn lot of them. currently i have 16 pages of outlining. There are no spacing breaks. It is a solid 16 page block of text. Looking at it gives me a migraine.

some assorted notes which i have dredged up from the deleted parts of the main draft google doc go all the way back to when i started Wror in June and they are Barely more readable than my handwriting on sheer account of: articulation is not my strength. These include:

“Ch 8 plan: sabo gets trained specially, awakens his armament haki, beats ace in a bunch of spars and proves himself to be anything but vulnerable. The boys are like “we fucking recognize that technique ryu taught you before us!!” and goad ryu into finally starting them both on basic haki training, just to awaken it, since sabo already has. Also this is the chapter that ace finally confronts ryu for his devil fruit after ryu confirms that some devil fruit users can’t be hurt without haki and ace immediately catches onto that and tries to slam his pipe through ryus head. It doesn’t work, ryu catches the weapon with a haki covered hand, to avoid turning to flame with hit and ace just gets frustrated and accuses ryu of hiding his devil fruit, because he remembers what he saw in grey terminal and that now that he has seen haki he can distinguish it from what he saw and he’s sure no one could do what ryu did. He calls ryu a hypocrite for coddling them even after telling them to stop coddling sabo and ryu has to sit them down and explain that yes he does have powers and he has been hdiing it and explains his reasoning. However instead of understanding th eboys just get fired up and say they don’t wnt to be scared of fire, especially not when it means ryu isn’t taking them seriously in a spar. Ryu finally agrees to start them on desensitization training for fire trauma. Fire desensitization training happens on the beach, so that they have water nearby in case things get out of hand. At some point ace gives ryu a considering look and is just like “if you have a devil fruit that means you can’t swim either right?” and ryu is basically just like “lmao yeah” and then ace immediately attempts to drown him. Lots of murder attempts in ace’s department toget his older brother to be less of an idiot with little success lol(extra: ace tried to attack ryu earlier both to confirm that ryu has a devil fruit that would force him to use haki to hide it, and because he now knows that he CAN’T hurt ryu without haki and as thus can’t beat him and make him admit he’s awake without being good at haki.)” [chapter 8]

“Small sabo lost his hat and goggles in the incident and while he doesn’t remember having them future sabo notices he looks uncomfortable and keeps touching his hair and head. Ace yells at him for it thinking he bandaging are bothering him and that he can’t touch them but little sabo just comments that something about it feels wrong. Luffy blurts our that he had a hat, like luffy does, But he doesn’t now ace begrudgingly mentions that they can’t get a new one in town. Future sabo doesn’t even hesitate and just plops his own hat onto his younger selves head. It clearly too big for him, and almost falls over his eyes but he grins up at future sabo and is like “wow!! Thank you! I’ll take care of it till I have one of my own” and creates a paradox like Luffys own hat. The footsteps younger sabo has yet to fill. This HAS to happen AFTER the talk where they explain that future and past sabo are both the same person, to give little sabo that pressure.” [chapter 9]

“(Right after this older sabo takes them down to the ocean so that they can play a little and desensitize themselves and immediately fucks himself over when he goes weak in the water bc he somehow fucking forgot his own devil fruit again and now even younger sabo is on his case about not letting him near the fucking ocean that little goddamn HYPOCRITE—) )” [for chapter 9]

“Ch 9 plan: they finally leave dawn island. Starts with the boys getting a haircut after training and luffy mentions how long it’s been since they’ve last needed a haircut, giving sabo and ace time to point out that it’s been 2 months now since ryu joined them, and that sabo was completely healed by now. The boys are now aware of the basics of haki, and while luffy hasnt awakened either yet ace and sabo both have a little bit of weak armament haki. (sabo won’t awaken observational haki until he gets his memories back) ryu tries to sneak off into the city to steal a boat but his brothers refuse to leave him behind and keep sneaking out after him, not wanting him to go alone and saying that since he’s been training them they’re clearly stronger and he needs to let them do this. Ryu eventually just lets it go because why the fuck not it’s a dream and they make him feel better. They get the boat out on open ocean and finally fucking sail out, cheering loudly, ryu struggling to make them all calm down but also not really trying. He’s happy as shit, and they’re all so excited and happy and sabo dips a hand into the waves and then smiles so fucking wide and tackles ryu so violently they both nearly tip into the water and it’s just very very good. “ [also for ch 9]

** I flat out dont Have any outlining from before chapter 6, because i only started actually outling chapters after that. i tend to just sit down and Write up until i hit a plot point or writers block and then am forced to actually think it through and plan rather than letting it come naturally. thats also why the quality and editing is better in later chapters despite everything being written within the same time frame.

besides entire chapter outlines, there are the scene specific phone notes like:

“(ADDED) Right after they leave dawn, when sabo is sure they’ve gotten enough of a head start, he calls Garp. He doesn’t say who he is, but that all of the boys are safe and happy with him and has them all talk into the phone to assure him that they’re fine. Garp is honestly just pissed off he doesn’t know who’s calling and when he asks sabo just laughs and says a disobedient brat before hanging up. “

“(ADDED) TO EXPAND ON CH 3: sabo gets offered the chance to go with dragon, and he hesitates on the offer to go through with his previous life with the family he’s made in the revolutionary again. He almost agrees, because the bought of losing them in this lifetime is near excruciating but reminds himself swiftly that it’s no place for his brothers and not what they’d really want, and he wants selfishly to be with them as long as he Can until he “inevitably” wakes up. as far as i know you're one of the few blogs who aren't a part of the "headcanons and aus are horrible and shippers should go to hell" gang and i thank you for that

Honestly at first I made this blog because haha kinda canon url why the fuck not relive an old fandom for a few days, but soon after I discovered two things, one this fandom is really fun and creative with lots of interesting ideas and concepts, and two, there is a severe problem of people being intimidated and threatened by those ideas and concepts because the fandom as a whole, is militant and toxic, and I didn’t want to just, give up this blog anymore like I had planned, it’s comfy here and someone needs to be a blog for people like you who want to create, who want stories, but are being denied.

Honestly the entire fact this is a thing is just, so new, I cannot be vocal enough that this behavior is not the norm and its NEW, I’ve been in lots of fandoms, team crafted, the pack, yogscast, aphmau, achievement hunter, cupquake, etc, and this has never been a thing to police, it just has never even crossed anyones mind to not do these things. None of these policers would survive in those fandoms.

For instance one my current big fandoms is The Yogscast, and do you know what it’s like being in that fandom? It’s the exact opposite of this one! People ship freely and its expected! People write aus, headcanons, stories, we talk about stories, we talk about lore, we talk about the characters, we take these characters, honeydew the dwarf, xephos the spaceman, lalna the mad scientist, and we breathe life into them, we give them stories, backgrounds, identities! It’s free game for basically everything! And you know what? the people in the yogscast don’t give a shit beyond maybe making shipping jokes or poking a bit of fun! Hell I’m literally in a discord chat with an ex member and am actively encouraged to write fic and create with there minecraft persona! Creating fic and making headcanons is fucking normal, it is in literally every fandom that’s not this one. things like fanfic and fanart and headcanons are VITAL to a fandom’s survival, it entices people, gives them more reason to join! No one remembers the fandom with no fanfiction or headcanons or shipping, everyone remembers the fandom with hundreds and thousands of stories

I remember being 13 and getting into merome, this was before I realized I was asexual and panromantic, this was some of my first experience with gay relationships in media, the work from it gave me some of my first purely positive interesting exciting loving queer rep, and was definitely a big part of normalizing these kinds of relationships and showing me these kinds of feelings are fine and normal and par for the course. It gave me an outlet for feelings I didn’t understand yet, it made me feel normal and it showed me healthy relationships you don’t get on daytime tv, and I don’t want to take that kind of rep away from a 13 year old who does the same with mumbo and grian. People don’t headcanon people as gay or ace or pan for no reason, they do it because they’re searching for representation, they’re searching for something where they can go ‘they are like me’ and that kind of rep is valuable and should be protected not ridiculed to threats of violence. And you know how merome affected mitch and jerome? It didn’t, all they did in response was make jokes about the ship and make ship tease animations because it was not a serious issue.

Of course there are things you shouldn’t do, but that’s true for everything, normal fandom protocol is tag your ships, keep it out of the main tag if asked, and don’t shove it in the creators face or demand they make your ship canon or anything, that should be frowned upon, not shipping and aus and stories in general!

I am a writer, I write minecrafter fanfic, I ship minecrafters, I make minecrafter headcanons, and I will never stop because a 14 year old tells me its problematic, and I will protect the rights of others to do the same, and you know what? They can’t stop us! The only control they have over us is what we give them! They can never stop fanfiction from being created, they can never stop shipping, they can never stop any of it, they only can if we let them get into our heads, and if we go ‘fuck you I’ll do it anyways’ they lose

These people are choking out this fandom with restrictions and baseless and unenforceable rules, take back your power from them, don’t let them destroy this fandom, do what brings you happiness, and if its drawing grian and mumbo making out, or headcanon mumbo with anxiety? I fully support you and I will never shut up

Sooo…

September has been an extremely busy month at work, and I could barely check tumblr, read/write fics, draw fanarts or freely embrace my Coco fangirlism in any form. But I had more free time this week, so I finally returned to my one-shots collection and kept writing the next one I wanna post.

This is meant to be a multi PoV one-shot about the bonding process between Héctor and the members of the family he doesn't properly know: Julio, Victoria and Rosita. I wrote Julio's part several weeks ago, and now I've been working on Victoria's. I finished it on Thursday. And… it's not exactly what I had planned. But I love it.

So let's talk a bit about Victoria, shall we?

There are two headcanons about Vic I love a lot. One is the ‘lesbian-Victoria’. The other one is the ‘ace/aro-Victoria’. My favorite (and the one I assume) is the later, because it's closer to my heart, and asexuality/aromanticism is something I think we should be writing/talking more about. So there I was, writing about an ace/aro Vic who's trying to bond with her long lost grandpa, and a shy Héctor who's secretly worried about why exactly his granddaughter never got married, never started her own family and seems to not even care about "love" at all. Because… what if it was his fault? What if Vic got so impressed by her grandma's love story that she didn't even try?

I got more involved than I had anticipated in writing this, but I regret nothing. It's been somehow cathartic, thinking about what kind of life Vic could've had as an ace/aro woman in the 50-60's. Rejecting suitors. Ignoring all the courtship thing. Not even thinking about anybody in a romantic way. The growing concern of Coco and Julio (what happens? Is she afraid? Is she 'traumatized'?). Being misunderstood by her own friends (don't you want to be with anyone? Really? How sad! That's quite depressing! Not having anyone to love! Why don't you give a try? What a meaningless life…). And the town's gossip (what's wrong with her? Does she even like men? Does she like women? Such a prude! How frigid! Perhaps no man ever tried, she's quite cold and cynical, not appealing at all…). And all because if you don't want a partner, you look like a heartless freak. If you're a woman and don't want to have children, it seems you've wasted your life. You will die alone, there will be nothing left behind to remember you. And it's tragic, because Vic actually died quite young, and I'm sure there were many people in Santa Cecilia who thought or said 'well, it could've been worse'. After all, she didn't leave behind a husband and children.

But of course Vic loves. She loved her family and her job. She loved her grandma and uncles, and her parents. She loved Elena. She loved her nephews. The 'loving tía Victoria' image is especially moving for me, because I'm there. I'm 'the auntie'. I have a lot of nieces and nephews, and I love them deeply. They're my kids, I've been taking care of them since I was 9, I would do anything for them. And I imagine Victoria being the same kind of aunt with Berto, Enrique and Gloria. Perhaps she's Berto's godmother; I can picture her standing so proud and happy in his christening, holding baby Berto fondly. Perhaps she used to help Enrique with his math homework or whatever. Perhaps she was Gloria's confident and took her to the cinema now and then. That kind of love is very powerful, too. Very strong. She didn't start a family, but she had a family. She had no children, but those kids were her children.

And then I imagine her in her first Día de Muertos as a deceased. Dead in her fifties (51 in my headcanon), when Berto's barely a young man, Enrique and Gloria were still teenagers, and her parents were elderly. She and Elena would be used to their little talks at night, about how old mamá and papá already are, about the business, about the future, sharing worries and supporting and comforting each other. But now she's left her little sister behind. She won't be there with her when they have to bury their parents. She won't be there when the kids get married and have their own children. She's going to miss everything she's loved the most. And she would stand before the ofrenda, knowing that, even so, there will be always people thinking 'it could've been worse'.

Romantic love can be something beautiful, of course. But there are many different kinds of love, and ways to love. The strong bond between siblings, between family or between friends needs to be more valued. It's not a second-hand love, and there are a lot of people unable to understand it. That's heartbreaking. But I'm very glad Coco gave me the opportunity to write about these things again.

In the novel, Elena is the first person Victoria asked Miguel about. How is my sister? So, since I've already drawn Vic being a tía with her kids, I made today's little doodle as a tribute to the Rivera sisters, their bond and their banter.

Day 253—Mar. 23, 2021

Okay, so the numbers for my previous consecutive posts were off by a day (like a day ahead) and February 7′s math was way off, but I googled this! so from here on out, we will be accurate! let’s go bois!

BIG UPDATE BOIS! Essentially? I’VE GOTTEN BETTER! Mental health is better, habits are better, outlook on life is better, productivity... isn’t as high as it was when I first started the blog, but it’s doing MUCH better than November and even January.

coping with minecraft:

So, I’m still addicted to the dream smp minecraft fandom. my friend got me a dream hoodie, bucket hat, and a georgenotfound hoodie for my birthday. but! I’m coping better. I’m behind on streams, and am now catching up during Spring Break. For a while, I was pushing back school work to watch and catch up on streams. I promised myself that during free periods I would work since I was catching up on streams at home, and then... yeah. ANYWAY! I’ve gotten a lot better at that recently by noticing that even fanart accounts (accounts dedicated to mcyt-ers) were talking about how they didn’t watch a phasmaphobia stream because they weren’t interested in it, or talking about how they were behind on streams... it really helped me accept the fact that I can be a real fan and not watch every single stream.

cultural convention:

My international school does events with other international schools but because of covid, we can’t travel. I act and made varsity drama (we call it a different name, but yeah!) and we had virtual conferences. I was incredibly friendly and loud and there were tons of zoom calls. Our schools kinda known for being... uh, stuck up? and kinda elitist. Not like I was being fake, but I was making an effort to talk during calls and be active on group chats made. I joke-flirt a lot and focused my attention on one person. A whole thing ensued, but some of the other actors in my school (there were only 11 of us) were joking abut sending me to “horny jail” and one girl kept apologizing for me. During “lounge sessions” I would interject with what I thought were funny comments and she’d say “again, I’d like to apologize for her behavior” and... uh... I cried at school. Cuz I’ve heard way too many times from too many different people about how I’m embarrassing... BUT.

What really helped was the fact that there were late night zoom calls and I was one of only three kids from my school the first night on a call with around 25 people. Other people said I helped give them a really good first impression of our school, especially considering all the things they’d heard previously. The guy I joke-flirted with (I previously dmed him asking if he was okay with it and he said he was) said on a call that I was one of the funniest people he’d met in a while. It was a huge confidence booster in knowing that the efforts I was making were paying off :)

Since starting this blog, I’ve been trying to be nicer to myself. I’ve been practicing more positive self speak and have recently realized the difference between the way I speak about and to myself and how some other people do. Being nicer to myself out loud has helped a lot in feeling better and more comfortable.

I wanted to try wearing black masks, but my mom bought the wrong kind. They had patterns and I was really nervous because I didn’t really want to stand out. I used to not care, but... I dunno. Teenagehood and whatnot. We wear uniforms too, so the only differences are in accessories, hair, etc. I’m not sure why, but I was really nervous to wear the new mask patterns to school. But I told myself it was an experiment, to force me to be more confident. I actually forgot I was wearing it until I saw myself. And since I’d posted on my private story saying I was doing this to try and be more comfortable, some of my friends came up to me and told me it was actually cute. Shows that I really had nothing to stress for. Not that it was really self-expression, but for me, and anyone else who needs to hear this, no one cares. Maybe they even wish they had the courage to wear different things as well.

more with confidence! spirit week is just an excuse for kids to not wear their uniforms, but I put a lot of effort into an Ace Ventura outfit I put together. I only saw around two or three other people actually dressed up as characters, but I had so much fun and thought I looked amazing. I was proud that I wasn’t a normie ;]

Also... it’s so humid in this country and the rubber bottoms of my boots actually stuck to the pavement and fell off. I spent the day without the bottoms of my shoes and it was so funny. Even my mom laughed after (she laughed for so long, it was adorable) and she said only I could pull it off and that the friend I walk to school with everyday is lucky to have me as a friend. My mom was telling me about how she never had a friend like me growing up, just so weird and goofy. And it made me happy to think that I can bring so much... zaniness to people’s lives

been writing a lot more recently! haven’t been posting on my writing blog since it’s all fanfiction, but it’s helping me write! I update one of my stories every two weeks. When I feel like I’m not doing enough, it’s a nice reminder that I actually can be consistent. I may be getting better... who knows :)

been editing lots of papers even though I don’t need to anymore since I made vp of my school’s nehs chapter. but it’s helping me learn too! I’m very instinctual when writing, but obviously when I’m editing I can’t just ask them to change something because “it doesn’t sound right”. So I google explanations and then tell the people who’s papers I’m editing. It helps both them and me!

ipad/drawing:

got a new ipad for my birthday. been messing around with procreate. been doodling in class (only dream team characters so far lol). might be getting better... hopefully I am!

also have a sticky notes app on my ipad and been creating to-do lists! yay!

teaching:

been teaching students in cambodia! last year I had a teaching partner who guided lessons mostly. this year I’m the leading teacher. It’s helping with my fear of leadership and responsibility.

still not the most social, but more active on snapchat now with keeping in contact with some of the cultural convention kids. covids made it harder to keep in contact, and I’ve been trying to reach out more to my closest friend who I’ve not hung out with in a while. not that we don’t see each other at lunch every other day, but I walk to school with, share a class and after school study hall with another friend. so comparably, I’ve spent less time with my closest friend.

recently had a spa day with my small neighborhood gang! my friend painted my other guy friend’s nails! yes! we used face masks as well :)

general update:

- went to the pool the other day and now I’m hecka burnt

- yesterday I wrote letters for honor society points, caught up on math hw, wrote a reflection and plan for a class, reviewed chinese with my mom, met up with my “mentor” for a class

- have been helping a lot of people! am currently a part of two people’s pieces for their theater class and I have a rehearsal later today!

- was doing a lot of work as an officer of thespian honor society—I’m likely going to be on the officer team again next year and, until a few weeks ago, I hadn’t felt like I’d been doing much and was feeling unworthy. but then I was proactive about something and updated our sponser (school’s drama director) on what we as officers decided. felt... prettyyy goooodddd :)

- !!! yesterday I went on a walk and brought money and my student ID, ready to buy bubble tea, but then... I mustered up what little willpower I had and then didn’t buy it. Instead, I bought surprise lilies for my mom (and some groceries she asked me to get) - been trying to cut out unnecessary sugars and foods. if I’m not hungry, I shouldn’t eat, but also... I listen to my body and if I’m feeling really snacky, I’ll indulge - recently been craving ice cream, but not the flavors in my fridge so instead I’m just not eating ice cream at all and ate an apple once as a substitute :D

- not sure if I’ve been sleeping more, but it kinda feels like I have been?

- started taking pictures of the world when I think it’s pretty one sunny afternoon when I was laughing lots with a friend... especially right after cul con, I was taking a lot more pictures...

- just been more active (not physically... though occasionally, when bored, I’ll stretch some... but I should try and get more active (I mean... the walk yesterday?))... creatively speaking (ao3, with art), socially online (cul con kids), in person (making plans over spring break!)...

- I just feel like I’ve been putting more effort into life

of course, there are the down bits, like for one project based class where the end product is due in May-ish and it focuses on the “process”... I’m just... not... process-ing. I chose a writing project (why). I’m focusing a lot on my side projects, but not my class writing one :/ as well as that, when assignments pick up, I do too, but when I get down time I feel like I deserve it (which I do!) but I don’t work ahead. I’ve been really busy though. Teaching got cancelled because the school in Cambodia shut down unfortunately due to covid. But before spring break, I was teaching, editing papers, writing my own for lang, doing cul con and then catching up on work I missed because of cul con, studying for tests, attending rehearsals... there’s a lot going on and I need to recognize that I am doing so well, especially compared with a few months prior when I was in a much darker place.

mostly stress has been my plague, but yeah! also in the span of one week, two classes bumped up a grade (or half a grade... we have letters and + system (no -)) so my previously low gpa became slightly less low! It gave me confidence that I can end the semester strong!

procrastination: another plague. I keep delaying setting up college counseling meetings and have delayed this update for a while now... and the project-class...

also have babysitting jobs again so we gon get some monnaayyyyy! (job is not from people we met at the pool, but we did meet people at the pool and their kids liked me so much they asked me mom to get me to babysit them... another boost to confidence! yay :) I’m a likeable person :] )

She loves them all, this changes depending on her mood. One of her favorites is Samoyeds (the breed she uses as her chat avatar) because they’re large and fluffy.

It’s surprisingly long -- it goes down about halfway between her shoulders and elbow. It looks like less than it really is in buns because she has pretty fine hair compared to other characters like Diya.

Despite not being as book smart as Noelle or Akarsha, Diya is enrolled in all honors classes and has to try extra hard to keep up sometimes. So both times we see Diya wake up in the game, she’s fallen asleep studying.

If it makes people feel better, it’s pretty rare that Diya has to do this! She does sleep in her bed most of the time.

I’m alright with it. If it makes people happy and it doesn’t hurt anyone, it’s cool

Min is only attracted to girls, so that makes her a nonbinary lesbian.

Diya self-identifies as lesbian, but she’s only ever been in love with Min, who’s actually nonbinary. I’m not sure how to label her (maybe pan?) -- It’s hard to say with a sample size of literally 1

Akarsha: Shortstop. This position has to field many balls, which gives Akarsha many opportunities to mess up and invent new excuses. Noelle: Right fielder. Chryssa and Liz put her there in hopes that since most people are right-handed, few will hit the ball out there -- so if all goes well, her lack of skill is hidden and she’s just standing there doing nothing for most of the game.

Misc. fun fact: I actually wanted a scene set at Chinese school in the story, but couldn’t figure out how to work it in. That’s a problem for future Brianna...

Yeah! I gain followers on Tumblr pretty consistently, but Twitter popularity has always eluded and mystified me. I’m actually a bit nervous about tweeting normally now that I have more?? We’ll see how this goes

Almost everything! I used to be addicted to Hearthstone but then transitioned to being addicted to Overwatch (Winston main). My favorite game of 2017 so far is Nier:Automata, I really want to draw fanart of it soon! Also, I love rhythm games and puzzle games! I also like Telltale-style adventure games and narrative-heavy games in general like Ace Attorney, Persona, etc. I tend not to play games that pander to straight white guys, though. It’s like as soon as they target straight white guys, they shift to the most bland art style and most boring stories in the world.

For example, I didn’t know what PUBG was and had to google it, and even after looking at the brown/tan colored screenshots, I still can’t muster up even one shred of interest in it. I’m sure their game mechanics are fun, but personally, it totally ruins the deal for me.

1. Your first OC ever?

I probably had OCs as a kid. Probably a Sailor Moon one or a Harry Potter OC (Most likely had a Harry Potter OC. The only one I can name for certain though was a witch named Caroline with an affinity for fire magic.

2. Do you have a personal favourite among your OCs?

Right now? Claudia Hawke. I love talking about her and drawing her and writing her. Plus, she has a super cute boyfriend who I also love talking about and drawing.

3. Have you ever adopted a character or gotten a character from someone else?

Lol. Yeah. I have a few of @mikagesshoku‘s OCs now. The first was an ancient vampire named Mark (not his real name, but what he goes by in modern times). She liked how I wrote him and characterized him, so he became my son. Her Hawke, Quentin, is also now my Hawke (and Claudia’s big brother). She also prefers how I write her Mahariel.

4. A character you rarely talk about?

Of my DA OCs? Aeducan and Brosca. Nothing against dwarves, I just haven’t fleshed them out very well.

5. If you could make only one of your OCs popular/known, who would it be?

Claudia Hawke. Her being popular and people wanting me to write/draw her would come with the ulterior motive of getting to write/draw Anders.

6. Two OCs of yours that look alike despite not being related?

Claudia Hawke and Elira Bassat. Elira’s a bit taller and her hair is straight, but they’re both sassy, dual-wielding red heads. My old RP buddy actually confused one of my first drawings of Claudia for Elira (Claudia’s since had some cosmetic changes to make them look more different).

7. Are your OCs part of any story or stories?

Yes! I write for Claudia a lot.

Elira Bassat was my OC that I RPed the longest as, but don’t anymore. She’s a sassy, dual-wielding red head, she’s nb, but generally prefers she/her or them/they pronouns (occasionally he/him). She’s also a big fan of vigilante justice.

9. Would you ever be willing to give any of your OCs to someone else?

Hypothetically, yes. I couldn’t name which one, but if their new parent was going to treat them well, I would.

10. Introduce an OC with a complicated design?

I generally try to keep them toned down or believable in appearance. But, there’s Rhyann Tabris, my tiny elf baby with snow-white hair (I say the quickening still effects elves and it made her hair go white as a child). She’s got a billion freckles and carries around a big sword.

11. Is there any OC of yours you could describe as a "sunshine"?

So, an optimist? I don’t know if I have any of those with my DA OCs. Probably Solona Amell. She’s the most likely to keep her chin up and try to cheer up the others.

12. Name an OC that isn't yours but who you like a lot

I absolutely love @kirkwallgirl‘s Jay Hawke and @misterwiggums‘s Mads Hawke. They’re both super cute and love the mage!

13. Do you have any troublemaker OCs?

Claudia Hawke. She’s best friends with Isabela. They get into lots of trouble.

14. Introduce an OC with a tragic backstory

I think of my DA OCs, I think Rhyann Tabris has a very tragic backstory. I relate to it on a personal level, which was why I chose her (they’ve all got super sad backstories, hers just resonates with me).

15. Do you like to talk about your OCs with other people?

YES! Oh my God, if you guys want to ask me about my OCs, please do! I’d love to hear about all of yours, too!

16. Which one of your OCs would be the best at biology (school subject)?

Solona Amell. She’s a healer.

17. Any OC OTPs?

With other OCs? I don’t know. Neria Surana and Solona Amell (as part of a polymance with Jowan, but he’s not my OC). With non OC characters, Claudia Hawke x Anders and Rhyann Tabris x Alistair Theirin.

18. Any OC crackships?

I don’t have any with just OCs. With OC x canon, I’m planning on writing a Claudia Hawke/Karl Thekla/Anders bi polymance in the future. Not really a crack ship (though I guess it is if you HC Karl as being gay; I’m in the he’s bi/pan camp), but I never thought I’d be pairing Claudia up with Karl before the idea struck me.

19. Introduce an OC that means a lot to you (and explain why)

Rhyann Tabris means a lot to me because she was my first OC in a Dragon Age game, my first playthrough, and her origin really resonated with me.

20. Do any of your OCs sing? If they sing, care to share more details (headcanon voice, what kind of songs they like etc)?

Originally, Elira Bassat was a singer and she was supposed to sound a bit like Sara Taylor/Chibi from The Birthday Massacre, but I scrapped that.

Claudia Hawke enjoys singing, but she isn’t particularly good. I imagine she sings a little bit of everything, though I like the idea of her dramatically singing along to Helena by My Chemical Romance.

21. Your most artistic OC

Probably Elira Bassat. She isn’t an artist, but she’s pretty damn good at costume makeup.

22. Is there any OC of yours people tend to mischaracterize? If yes, how?

I don’t think anyone mischaracterizes them.

23. Introduce OC that has changed from your first idea concerning what the character would be like?

Sophie Cousland. I was originally going to romance Alistair with her, but I was too attached to Rhyann x Alistair, so Sophie became Aro/Ace.

24. If you could meet one OC of yours, who would it be and why?

Claudia Hawke, because she’d bring Anders with her.

25. The OC that resembles you the most (same hobby, height, shared like/dislike for something etc?)

Elira Bassat shared my build, height, and hair color at the time (I’m no longer a red head). But, I’ve given Rhyann Tabris a lot of my facial features.

26. Have you ever had to change your OC's design or something else about them against your will?

I’ve renamed OCs in the past. Can’t think of any off the top of my head, though.

27. Any OCs that were inspired by a certain song?

Like, did I base them off a song? I don’t think I have any OCs like that.

28. Your most dangerous OC?

Claudia Hawke or Rhyann Tabris.

29. Which one of your OCs would go investigate an abandoned house at night without telling anyone they're going?

Probably Solona Amell. She wouldn’t want to trouble anyone with her curiosity. Claudia would go too, but half of Kirkwall would know she was going.

30. Which one of your OCs would most likely have a secret stuffed animal collection?

Rhyann Tabris. In a modern AU, she probably saves every stuffed animal Alistair has ever gave her or won her at a carnival and loves them all.

31. Pick one OC of yours and explain what their tumblr blog would be like (what they reblog, layout, anything really)

Solona Amell’s would be a lot of quotes from book, pictures of pretty cups of tea/coffee, plants, and the occasional cute animal. Mostly aesthetic.

32. Which one of your OCs would be the most suitable horror game protagonist and why?

In a survival/horror, Rhyann Tabris because she fits the personality archetype they use for those sorts of games (timid female protagonist).

33. Your shyest OC?

Rhyann Tabris. She’s extremely shy, and tends to avoid most human men until they earn her trust.

34. Do you have any twin characters?

Sophie Cousland has a twin brother named Jarak. He’s a bit flirty, but is overall a good person.

35. Any sibling characters?

Claudia Hawke has an older brother named Quentin. He’s a mage and she’s extremely protective over him.

36. Do you have OC pairs where the other part belongs to someone else (siblings, lovers, friends etc)?

Rhyann Tabris is the cousin of @mikagesshoku‘s Lyna Mahariel and Misali Mahariel. Claudia Hawke is also friends with Lyna.

37. Introduce an OC who is not quite human

All of my elves/dwarves/qunari? I’m in the mood to mention Thaliah Lavellan, though, given she’s a Dalish elf. She also hooks up with a Qunari.

38. Which one of your OCs would be the best dancer?

I say Claudia Hawke is a former ballet dancer in a modern AU. Though, I imagine Sophie and Jarak are pretty light on their feet, given they’re nobles.

39. Introduce any character you want

I’m world building for an original story in some of my free time, and the main character is named Lilika, though she goes by Lily for most of the story. She’s a seer raised by a wlw couple since she was around 10 years old and she’s blind in her right eye.

40. Any fond memories linked to your characters? Feel free to share!

Whenever anyone leaves nice comments/tags on artwork I do of them! I’ve had a couple people comment that Claudia and Rhyann are very pretty, and it makes me so happy (especially with Rhyann because I gave her some of my features that I consider ugly).

41. Has anyone drawn fanart of your OCs? If yes, maybe show a picture or two here (remember sources & permissions!)

I sadly don’t have any pictures on my current phone of it, but my nephew drew Claudia Hawke and one of his characters from the comic books he likes to draw hanging out. It was really cute.

42. Which one of your OCs would be the most interested in Greek gods?

I’m really tempted to say all of them and leaving it at that, but I’d bet money that Neria Surana went through a very intense Greek mythology period of her life.

43. Do you have any certain type when you create your OCs? Do you tend to favour some certain traits or looks? It's time to confess

YES. I like tall girls with red hair and who are also the more dominant partner in a relationship. I’ve been getting better with it. But I do have at least five red heads, most of which are tall, and most of which are the more dominant partner in a relationship.

44. Something you like about your OCs in general

I love them all and how they all have various facets of me. I try to make them all a little bit like me.

45. A character you no longer use?

I used to RP as Nikolai (a vampire) quite regularly, but I haven’t in years.

46. Has anyone ever told you that you treat your OCs badly?

Yes. My old RP buddy used to tell me all the time that I was being mean to our OCs, but in a you’re being mean, but it makes the story so good way.

47. Has anyone ever (friendly) claimed any of your OCs as their child?

The same RP buddy from number 46 did. He’d call our OCs our “children”, so his were my children too.

48. OC who is a perfect cinnamon roll, too good for this world, too pure

Solona Amell. She’s a precious child who deserves love.

49. Which one of your OCs would most likely enjoy memes

Claudia Hawke, Quentin Hawke, Neria Surana, Jarak Cousland, Elira Bassat. Most of them.

Claudia Hawke and Sophie Cousland are named after characters from The Chipmunk Adventure. Claudia was the name of the villain and Sophie was the name of her dog. Quentin is named after a character from a book and his appearance is based somewhat off the same character.

I've been hearing that your book features a mc on the asexuality spectrum, is that true? I am excited to read it either way, but one of my goals for the year is to read more asexual rep and I was wondering if it counted toward that goal. Dear Anonymous,

I’m almost positive that the book you’re talking about is Places No One Knows, because a lot of the characters in my other books are … well, they’re just very frisky in ways that I don’t think would lead most readers to immediately wonder if they stand somewhere under the asexual umbrella.

Waverly, from Places, is a little bit different. Places is still definitely a kissing book. (It’s actually one of my more “content-laden” books on a lot of levels.) However, and with one notable exception, Waverly is pretty lukewarm on the whole physical-contact business. By which I mean:

She’s not generally attracted to anyone and is a little confused by relationship expectations even though she knows what the expectations ARE, and in general, she finds the concept of romance very mysterious.

I think she can certainly be READ as demisexual or possibly gray-ace and I fully encourage this reading, but I also can take zero credit for it.* Once you’re parsing oblique references buried in paragraphs about calculus or dance-planning, we’re definitely not talking about true representation.

Therefore, the answer to your actual question: Places won’t count toward your effort to read more books with asexual representation, because it’s not something that’s on the page and it’s not something I specifically and intentionally built into the book. Places will count toward any efforts you may have underway to read more books about introverts, anxiety disorders, “unlikable” female characters, boys who are struggling mightily with gross but widely-accepted ideas about masculinity, what it means to be someone’s friend, how being massively judgmental toward yourself and other people just makes things really hard, and why gender roles are bullshit.

*The same goes for questions I sometimes get about Rae and Shiny in Fiendish—I endorse the hell out of that romantic pairing, but I didn’t actually write it and there’s a huge difference between actually writing something on the page, and having someone else bring it up to you after the fact and you’re like, “Oh my god that is amazing and I love everything about it!” I adore that reading, but I didn’t purposefully construct it. (More Rae-and-Shiny fanart pls.)
